Langa glares as Reki flicks his forehead, laughing that pretty laughter of his. The mall is practically deserted, most shops with their doors locked for the night, but it doesn't stop them from venturing around. They don't have to go home just yet; a few more minutes where they're the only people in the world. A few more minutes for them to enjoy their youth.
"You know, before you decided to waltz into my life, I used to be the tallest around." Reki grins, pushing himself on his tiptoes on the step ahead of Langa on the escalator. He looks down on Langa who's still glaring. "Yeah, I miss it."
"I'm not going to shrink just to make you happy, Reki."
"Aww..." Reki fakes a pout, his smile ruining whatever effect it's supposed to have on Langa. "But you swore you'd do anything to make me happy!"
"There are limits to what I can do. It's physically impossible for me to shrink for you."
Reki huffs as he pats the boy's cheek. "Always so logical. You're so cute, babe."
His laughter resonates throughout the empty space as his boyfriend sighs for what feels like the millionth time. He hates it when Reki calls him babe. He hates the name with a passion, but then it's coming out of Reki's mouth, out of his boyfriend's mouth, and Langa can't bring himself to tell him to stop. Because while he hates the name, he loves every word that Reki utters for him. He loves every name he's given him, even that teasingly annoying babe.
Langa's eyes snap up as soon as he feels Reki's calloused fingers under his chin, lifting his head. Heavy lidded eyes, a small smile, all is directed at Langa. All of Reki's attention is devoted to Langa; there's nothing else around them that could steal that attention away, not that Reki seems willing to spend it elsewhere.
"Hey, Langa?"
Langa hums, a content smile forming on his lips as Reki leans down. Their noses brush together as they meet in a sweet kiss. And Langa almost laughs against Reki, happy and giddy and so very much in love, because with every kiss of Reki's, Langa feels like he can fly. With every kiss of Reki's, Langa remembers that he's loved, that he's worthy of love, and that he can love. Because he loves Reki. He loves Reki with all his heart.
"I love you, Langa."
And Langa laughs. He laughs as he pulls Reki back for another kiss, chaste like the first one, but nonetheless filled with love and adoration. And as Reki's fingers slip between his, giving his hand a squeeze, Langa feels his heart flutter, right there in his chest. Happiness. Reki is his happiness.
"I love you too, Reki."
