Sorry i just had a Hob thought

So like we all know the shit this man went through, right? He lost everyone and everything he cared about, was drowned, starved for like 80 years straight, along with other stuff that wasn’t mentioned in the plot.

And he is still going strong and I’m so proud of my boy but imagine. He is a teacher, i think that much we can agree on. I believe he either works with high schoolers or university students but that part isnt that important. My point is every day he sees the modern generation simply living- and by ‘simply living’ i mean being chaotic little shits who love tiktok dances and memes and that troll the shit out of him.

Can you imagine how happy he is seeing children, not necessarily happy every day but so lively? Every time they make a joke he doesn’t understand, he can’t even be mad because, hell, we was born in a time where a child living past their preteen years was a blessing.

I think we can often forget that Hob loves people. He loves living. He is so full of wonder and joy, even when he’s having the worst years of his super long life. I know there’s been some Hob controversies recently (which i can’t really comment on because, well, i don’t know much of the context or anything, just the jist of the thing) but, we can’t forget how amazing his character is. Like i love this guy so much.

Idk if this was at all coherent but i wanted to gush him. I just love characters who represent change and, above all, just a sheer love for life. I think we all need a little bit of that in our daily lives.

“Ah shit, forgot to tie the fucker down.” 

Fjord, to his credit, does not whip around in shock. He turns around slowly, shoulders already tense. “What did you say, Kingsley?”

“The flag.” He gestures up towards the mast, the light glinting off the buttons on his new coat. “I raised it but clearly it didn’t stay that way.”

Fjord takes a slow breath. “We’ll just raise it again.”

“Well, about that.” Kingsley looks over Fjord’s shoulder at something behind him.

“It’s tangled up somewhere, isn’t it.”

“Sure seems like it, Captain, loose ropes and all that.”

“It’s fine, it’s fine,” He repeats for his sake more than Kingsley. “You’re still learning. If we haven't raised that flag, then what colors are we currently flying?” 

“Is this a trick question?” Kingsely tilts his head at Fjord, then after a moment passes, he answers. “None at the moment, although I really think we should consider a bit of piracy on the side, choose our own symbols and make our own flag. We love a self-made crew.”

Fjord’s eyes dart around for Jester, not because he needed help with the situation but because he knows any pirate talk is a tempting siren song for her too, and a terrible idea for them all. “No colors are better than the wrong colors, I’d reckon. But let’s get the ropes sorted out and the flag raised.” 

Kingsely keeps staring at him with a smile, then gives a little salute. “I see my dexterity is called for. You’re lucky you have me around, climbing things is something I’ve learned I’m quite good at.”

Alright, I’m gonna need some books with actual villain love interests. Not the powerful guy who’s on the opposite side of war or an opposing kingdom, or a guy who has a villainous persona to keep the people he loves safe, OR he’s allied/works with the antagonists but he doesn’t believe in the cause and is a good person deep down.

No.

I want a full fledged unhinged villain who loves the protagonist without restraint and won’t change for the sake of love while also having emotional depth.

Kathryn Ann Kingsley does this stupendously.

Her villains are essentially unrelenting forces of nature and are unapologetically malicious. All of them are terrible but have their own scars and love their protagonists with all their shriveled rotted hearts. Kingsley just has a way to make these villains deplorable and likable to the reader imo

Some of them aren’t all bad and have people who rely on them, but they DO NOT CHANGE THEMSELVES in the name of love.

Like I love characters like Rhysand and Warner but I want some villains that are actually villainous

How was Felix's case going? Not good. Their current tactics in exploiting the scammers were not enough for the court. From their sources, the Sterling-Ricos had hacked into the bank organisation to steal Felix's money. Apparently, the bank had a request to fortify their system security from any tech company and since Isaac was a certified ethical hacker, he secured the job before anyone else! Through this method, he also found concrete evidence to end the scammers! He looked up after learning of the new data...

"I found something." All his new findings were enough for legal proceedings on their half, but there was also evidence concerning corruption or money laundering schemes...meaning the Sterling-Rico family could be connected to something bigger.

"Let's transfer this over to detectives, it's not something of our scope," Vincent thought. "Good job Isaac, I'm glad you spotted this."

With Isaac as his right-hand man, Vincent believes they could take on anything. "Anyway, where'd you learn how to hack?" he was curious. "Oh, I took some cybersecurity classes during law school. More hard work and now here I am, eyes as sharp as an eagle," Isaac joked around with his nickname back then. Vincent laughed and sat down, "Lucky you're on our side with that!"

Isaac took off his glasses and chuckled, "Heh, they don't call me Eagle Eyes for nothing."

I finally watched this, sadly only in German because there's no decent OV for me to get my hands on, but it was nice seeing so much of Ferdie <3<3<3 just look at that smile, it was a rare thing, he was so stressed out the whole episode poor thing, and having to wait bound and gagged for like 10 minutes while the villain has their big talk omg poor Ferdie >x<

next I'm going to listen to this because he's in it and it is Lovecraft :D (I am a bit obsessed with him atm)

Forever thinking about Kingsley stealing a kiss from Caleb and then confiding it feels like his first kiss. How it would make Caleb feel if he were King's first partner--

Everything being so new and exciting to King, including relationships. Caleb wanting to take things slow, let King have time to navigate lifetimes of complicated feelings and drifting memories, taking care to be gentle with him and his bleeding heart.

Just. Caleb recognizing he was in such a bad place when he, Astrid, and Wulf all fell together; the isolation and fear and trauma that fed into self destructive coping mechanisms. Desperation for comfort and companionship, anything to make them forget the pain for a moment. Caleb having the time to heal and gradually open up again, slowly letting others in. So scared of intimacy, yet ever longing to reach out--

And then there's King, who remembers only fragments of things, and it's all a blur of warmth and comfort and a stabbing pain. "Caleb. Softness and light." But then his Magician's body is lying there lifeless--the terrifying, gutting feeling that he's the cause of it--

Both of them wanting so bad to be good, to do better, to do right by each other. Soft forehead kisses and earnest promises. Caleb wanting to make sure King's first experience with love doesn't end with a broken heart. King being drawn in by the familiar, grounding comfort Caleb's presence brings.
