Back to you (prologue)
Summary:  Y/N Stark and Peter Parker are unconditionally in love with each other, being friends for years was just the step before making it official. BUT, just the weekend they became official Thanos and the snap happened, leaving Y/N broken: without friends, avengers family or Peter Parker. So, she has to move on, at least that’s what everyone’s telling her and she really tries to do it and who better to help her than Harry Osborn. But, has she really let Peter go? What if Tony Stark -genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist- knows how to bring Peter back? And what happens when he does? Is Y/N going to avenge again? Who’s going to lead the avengers now? Who is she going to choose? Harry or Peter? and who the hell is mysterio? *He doesn’t even go here*

                                                        _______
“All that for a drop of blood” The Mad Titan whispered and as you saw how his lips pursed into a smirk you felt your stomach dropping.
Before you could react, even get a scream out of your mouth to tell your dad to be careful, Thanos took a hold of your right ankle and threw you across the arid, orange and light-weighted planet.
“Y/N” Tony screamed as The Mad Titan dropped him into the floor, like a rag doll, as he repeatedly got punched and thrown down.
Soon you fell into the ground, hard and you felt as if there was no more air in Titan for you to breathe. The nanotech automatically removed your helmet as you desperately tried to find the air you had lost.
“Shit” you grumbled when you took a breath again, closed your eyes for a second and groaned.
This was more than you could handle, this was even more than anything you had ever thought you would ever do and for the first time in a while you were actually scared shitless about what was going to happen. It was even worse than New York than Ultron and you hadn’t even been on the field by that time but now you were and you had spend so many years trying to understand your father’s fear for so many years, just now you actually did.
As you tried to get up, you felt Peter’s presence behind you as he held you, helping you get up. His eyes were full of fear as he tried to inspect every part of your body, trying to figure out if you were seriously hurt in any way. It was normal for him, always checking in when you were fighting together.
“Oh my god, Y/N? I’m here. Are you -?” Peter started before you cut him.
“M’ fine, we need to help dad Peter, please” You whimpered as you got up with his help and turned around, your eyes desperately trying to find your father while holding Peter’s hand.
And that’s when you saw it, you were hardly able to blink as you saw how the blade entered your father’s torso and a whimper left his lips.
“DAD!” you screamed as tears rolled down your face. You felt as if your whole body was shaking uncontrollably and the urge to get to him as fast as you could overcome your mind.
You tried to run and fly towards him as your suit quickly materialized your helmet once again, but you felt a strong pair of arms around your torso, they were so tight. You knew if Peter had pressed more, it could break at least two of your ribs.
You screamed as you tried to fight Peter’s hold on you, you watch blood coming out of your father’s mouth as Thanos spoke to him.
“Y/N wait, wait, he’s going to kill you if you go near, please,” Peter begged, you could feel that he was crying as well. “I can’t lose you.”
He was holding to you so tight, you thought you might pass out. Peter never used his super strength with you. He was always soft with you, always careful but this was a desperate grip on you, on your body, he didn’t want you going and as you turned around you could see the terror on his chocolate eyes.
But when you saw Thanos pointing the gauntlet at your dad, the infinity stones shinning more and more every second, you knew if you didn’t make it, you wouldn’t see him again.
“Peter” you stated as your lips trembled, you felt your heart crumbling inside your chest, you had promised a future together before this happened. “I’m sorry Peter,” you whispered as your suit quickly transformed your feet into a rocket canon.
Peter sensed the buzzing coming from the charges in your suit, he tried to hold you tighter, his mask appearing in front of his face and covering his chocolate eyes.
“Y/N please, don’t-” Peter cried, as the rocket canon finally broke his grip on you, sending him backwards and sending you flying as fast as you could towards your dad.
You landed right between them and the mask quickly came off, you knew your suit didn’t have much energy now, less than 10% you figured with all the fighting, and you had lost H.A.P.P.Y, your AI when you got out of the earth. But it didn’t stop you as your hand filled your repulsor with the energy you had left, and you pointed it at Thanos.
“Y/N NO!” your father yelled between shallow breathes as he tried his best to protect you. “Please Y/N, it’s okay, please”
But you didn’t flinch, still glaring at Thanos as you pointed at him with your repulsor and he pointed to you with the gauntlet. This was it, you knew what it was coming.
He chuckled.
“I hope they remember you” Thanos stated as he looked at you solemnly. “You remind me of my daughter”
You felt a knot in your stomach as you prepared for impact or however the Mad Titan decided to get rid of you and your father.
The infinity stones started gathering more and more energy and so did your repulsor as you closed your eyes for a second. Please, don’t let Peter see this, you thought to yourself as your eyes opened and braced for the attack.
But then Stephen’s voice broke the silence, the tension, your last thoughts. You turned around, your arm never going down as Thanos watched Stephen carefully as he tried to lean into the remnants of Titan.
“Stop” Stephen cried as he breathed heavily. “Spare their life’s and I will give you the stone” He said as he gazed at Tony and you for a second. “No tricks” Thanos stated as he began facing Strange but didn’t let his arm with the gauntlet down.
Your stomach dropped as you watched as the time stone materialized in Stephen’s hand from the sky, you heard your father mumbling something but soon you couldn’t hear anything as desperation washed your whole body. This couldn’t be. This was your last chance to save the earth, to save the universe.
The stone levitated from Stephen’s hand to Thanos and as he was about to grab it, you attempted to move, to take it away, maybe die in the process, but you didn’t care anymore, you knew it was your duty, you were an avenger and you had to do it.
But as soon as you tried to lift your foot from the orange ground, something pulled you back and soon you got this cold sensation spreading from your feet up, your body was humming, and it felt as if every muscle in your body had frozen, soon you couldn’t even turn your head or open your mouth, you felt trapped. Your eyes squinted slightly and turned to Steven as he gazed back at you, his left-hand twitching as it pointed to you and you realized, it was him.
You wanted to scream, shout and cry as you felt Thanos glaring back at you for a moment and then placing the stone in the gauntlet. Flashes of green light traced his purple skin as you tried to move, you wanted to fire your repulsor, you wanted him gone.
“One to go” he whispered to himself as he gazed longingly at the golden gauntlet.
Your eyes widen as you realized what was going to happen now, he was going to earth again for Vision, Wanda, for all the others. You closed your eyes and begged that your repulsor worked as you aimed towards The Mad Titan, and in that moment a pulse rifle sound shot into the air and you thought you had made it.
You opened your eyes to see yellow flashes of light hit Thanos -repeatedly, with such a desperation that if it had been blue flashes it would’ve been you- but a scream ripped the sky and it was Quill, either way nothing hurt Thanos as blue steam grew from behind him and as soon as you felt you could breathe again, he was already engulfed by the cloud that formed behind him.
You felt into the floor as you tried to regain composure, you tried to shake off the feeling of not being able to control your own body. You hated when magic was used on you and you had been trained by no other than Clint and Wanda in order to know the signs and try your best to avoid it. Either way, fighting against Strange’s power was a whole other thing.
“Where is he?” Quill screamed again as his eyes frantically looked for the Titan, he tried pointed his gun anywhere and his whole face was tainted by panic and anger.
But you couldn’t even look at him as you glared back at Strange, he looked right back at you and simply shook his head and looked down. You were about to curse the hell out of Strange, because you could’ve tried to stop him, at least that’s what you wanted to believe.
But your thoughts dissipated as you heard your dad fixing his wound as his breathing came a little back to normal, you stood up as soon as you could and ran towards him.
“Dad, Dad” you sniffled as you hold his hand, “How is it, are -are you okay?” You could barely get out as your eyes were fixed in your father’s wound, trying to check out if it was okay.
You sighed heavily as Tony simply nodded and squeezed your hand a little bit tighter, he tried to smile but it simply faded as he gazed back at the ground, he hated when you saw him like this. It had been around three years when he had finally allowed you to be on the field, but he never liked it. He felt his heart on his throat every time you were on a mission, he was uneasy which didn’t serve the team very well when he was always worried about you but with time he had learned how to cope with it. Still, it never got easy for him seeing you hurt, it never got easy for him when he had taken a blow and you had to risk your life to be beside him. In all honesty, Tony didn’t like the idea that some time you might see him die.
“Did we just lose?” Quill let out in a sighed as you felt someone landing next to you, you turned around to see Peter, he was a little bit shaken up from the way you threw him back.
You sighed of relief as you saw him, you knew he had super strength and healing powers, but you guessed it was more about the emotional burden -he was scared of losing you. You crashed your body into him as he held you so tight you thought that you might pass out.  He wanted nothing more than to protect you, he wanted you to be okay, he just wanted to go home with the girl he had been in love with since he met her and just be with her.
“Peter, I…”
“I know Y/N, it’s not your fault,” Peter said softly as he held you tight, “It’s going to be okay, they are going to stop him” Peter reassured you as you turned around to see Tony.
It wasn’t good, you were all tired and alone in this desolated planet, you looked around to see all the Guardians coming towards you. A scowl on their faces as they felt every little blow from the battle, the adrenaline was gone and as you knew very well, the injuries where now being felt.
“Why would you do that?” Tony asked Strange, his voice soft and defeated.
You knew your father, how he thought, and you saw how everything, all the weight of keeping the world safe that he had carried on his shoulder since he became Iron Man was now crumbling, the anxiety and the fear were now gone and only defeat was left. He had failed the world, that’s what he thought.
You turned to see Strange, gazing solemnly at Tony. It wasn't completely defeated but he was somber, in the little time you had gotten to know the Supreme Wizard you knew he had to have a reason, a tangible reason for him to let Thanos go.
“We’re in the endgame now” He whispered ambivalently.
But you were furious, you were fucking tired of not knowing what was going to happen but most of all you felt the panic creeping on your back, but it was because you felt betrayed by time or the universe that this had to happen now.
“Babe…” Peter mused as he took a hold of your chin to make you look into his eyes. He gave you a little smile as he placed his forehead against yours.
He knew you well, well enough to feel your heartbeat going insane as you glared at Strange, but he also knew you well enough to calm you down.
“It’s just, we were just on a school trip today…” You mumbled as you closed your eyes.
It had been whirlwind since this morning you had been kind of official with Peter for the first time at school, you had been to the MOMA and there hadn’t been a moment where you weren’t sneaking around between exhibitions, running away from Mr. Harrington so Peter could lean forward and press his lips to yours every chance he got.
“Spider-ling stop kissing my daughter and help me get up” Tony muttered from behind you.
You gave your dad and Peter a little smile as Peter blushed, his cheeks red as he ran towards his mentor to help him stood up as you feel the group getting closer together. They were just re-grouping in order to see what your next step was.
“We have to get out of here” You stood in silence as you watched your father lean into Peter, watching you take the lead.
Mantis was next to Quill who was holding her, she had been badly injured while Drax just stared down, a somber look in his eyes. He had to be feeling worse than your father as he had been trying to avenge his family, at least that’s what you thought.
“How are we supposed to do that? The donut is gone” Peter asked as he gazed at the broken space-ship that was close to you.
You bite your lower lip as you thought about what you could possibly do to return home. There was no food or water here for you to survive long enough and you had to be as possibly fast as you could in order to help the others. It had taken you like one day to arrive at Titan, now you needed to go back. At least, you really wanted to believe there was a chance to help others.
“We have our ship, we don’t know if it’s 100% usable after the fight” Quill muttered, as he checked Mantis and gazed back at you.
You didn’t even want to look at Quill at the moment, so you turned around your gaze at Stephen. You weren’t particularly thrilled about having him your face, but you knew he was the best option you had for a safe and quick return to earth.
You smirked.
“Thankfully, we have a Wizard that can help us go back to earth in les-”, You began but was quickly cut off by Mantis.
And that’s when you felt goosebumps appearing on your own skin, as Mantis muttered.
“Something’s happening” Mantis shuddered as she gazed at the orange sky in Titan, thunder could be heard.
All of you did the same as you tried to figure out what was wrong, it was ominous and frankly terrifying. You quickly turned and took a hold of Peter’s hand as you watched your father carefully, you wanted to be close to them.
You turned around to ask Mantis what was going on but as you blink she wasn’t there anymore, there were just ashes falling into Quill’s body, following the gloomy wind and you felt your knees going weak as you just understood what was happening. You squeezed Peter’s hand as you frantically pulled him closer to you.
“Dad…” You sniffled as you watched your father carefully. Tony had a haunted expression drawn across his face, he blinked too fast to make sure what he was seeing was real as he struggled to walk towards Quill and the others.
Soon you heard Drax’s trembling voice, the fear was palpable as he had just seen Mantis fading away, literally fading into dust.
“Quill?” He managed to say before half of his body turned into dust and he looked up into the sky as a sigh left his lips.
You felt like you were going to throw up and you felt Peter’s hold growing tighter around your waist, almost as if he was protecting you of what was coming next. The terror on everyone’s face was there, he did it, you thought to yourself.
You watched Quill, hoping he will stay, hoping it was just them and that it would stop by now. Two people had died in front of you, they had turned into ashes, you wanted it to stop, you needed it to stop.
Forehead puckered, Quill gazed at Drax with fear on his eyes, he was supposed to be the leader, he was supposed to help them but he was helpless, he didn’t know how to stop it and you could see the terror in his eyes, as he turned around to see your father.
Tony got closer to Quill, as he looked at him trying to be the pillar that the younger guardian needed. But as you saw him, you knew he was just as lost as everyone else. As helpless as you all were because there was no way you could possibly stop this from happening.
“Steady Quill” Tony said as he watched him, trying to somehow remain calm.
But as soon as he managed to get the words out the eerie sound of the wind mixed with a bit of energy from the stones -you thought- cut your father’s words.
“Oh man”
Those were the only words Quill got out before his body quickly turned into ashes. You fell on the ground, in silence as Peter went down with you.
“It’s going to stop soon Y/N, it’s going to stop” Peter assured you as he whispered in your ear while he gazed at Tony for any confirmation that was going to stop.
Tony turned around, shocked by the way their team had to disappear in a matter of seconds, to find Stephen already looking at him.
The blood on Stephen’s cheek was still going down as he tried to shake his head in affirmation, trying to somehow calm your father.
“There was no other way” Stephen stated, he breathed deeply as his gaze fell on the ground, on what was left of Titan.
One. Two. Three breaths and then he was gone.
Your father quickly turned around to see you, to make sure you were still there, and you gazed back at him. You didn’t know if you were next, neither of you so you stood up as fast as you could, leaving Peter behind because you were sure it was going to be okay, he was Peter, he was always okay.
But as soon as you were going to give a step forward, Peter’s hold on your hand stop you. You gazed back confused as you saw him looking at the ground, a haunted expression on his face as he looked at his other hand, he looked at his arm and his body. He seemed like he was looking as if his body was full-on ants.
“Y/N…?” Peter managed to get out as his gaze frenetically found yours. His breathing became heavier as he stepped forward.
You knew.
“Mr. Stark, I don’t feel so good” Peter mumbled as he linked eyes with your dad who walked as quickly as he humanly could towards you two.
You frantically tried to see what was wrong with him, you knew what was wrong with him but your brain still tried to do any calculation on how to keep Peter together for what was coming. It was a bizarre thought but there was nothing else coming up as you tried to gaze at his beautiful chocolate eyes.
“I- I- I don’t know what’s happening” Peter stuttered as terror grew on his eyes and he walked towards you like he was holding onto dear life itself.
You held him too, you wanted to hold onto him as if somehow it was going to avoid that he turned into dust. Your features overcoming with fear and dread as you hold onto the boy you had been in love with for three years.
“Pete-” You managed to get out before you felt his whole weight into yours and your words were quickly cut off as you both fell into the ground. You placed him into your arms, his eyes fluttered as he tried to keep his breathing normal, he wanted to be brave, he really wanted to be brave. His hands were holding yours as you placed them in his chest, trying to check his heart beating.
“I don’t want to go Y/N, I don’t want to go Y/N, please” He cried as Tony kneeled down next to yours, placing a hand on Peter’s shoulder.
Your father wanted to help so badly but he knew what this meant and all he could do was watch as the boy’s legs began to crumble.
“You’re going to be okay Peter, please”, you whispered as you nodded your head between your tears.
But suddenly, his eyes looked up into the orange sky, like he was embracing this like he knew he wasn’t going to be okay. His chocolate eyes quickly found your Y/E/C eyes and they stayed together, with those knowing looks you both knew what it meant.
“M’ sorry” Peter finally whispered, without fear on his voice rather resignation as he held your gaze and you saw how the boy you love was fading.
You gazed at his chest and his hands were no longer holding yours and you felt panic invading your body and then watched him carefully as his features disappear, leaving at last his eyes that quickly turned to dust.
“No, no, no” You sobbed, shaking your head as you tried aimlessly to hold on to the ashes of the boy.
“Y/N…” Tony muttered as he held onto you, he didn’t know what to say. He knew how much you loved him, and he knew the sorrow you must be feeling.
He knew Peter was your first love.
“PETER!” You screamed at the sky, the cry ripped your chest and the sky as you felt like you were going to pass out as sobs started coming out from your mouth and you hold onto your dad as you cried.
You lost your mind as you looked at your hands filled with the ashes of Peter.

Eek! I’m so excited for request to be open!! Can make a request for Iwaizumi? In which, the reader and Iwaizumi have a kid together, but they’re not together anymore. And so, they don’t get along very well. But in secrecy, the reader actually still harbors feelings for Iwaizumi, and their child snitches on her to their dad. When the topic comes up at the dinner table, the reader is forced to admit the truth. Iwaizumi’s kinda shocked and weirded out, but also kinda wants to date her again.
This took me longer than expected to write, but I hope you enjoy it!! I kind of changed the idea of the narrative BUT here it is (: ENJOYY !!!
PAIRING: IWAIZUMI HAJIME X FEM! READER.
---
One of the biggest reasons people avoided to dive into marriage, was the possibility of divorce. However, the vast majority of society bet it wouldn’t be their case. Iwaizumi had been one of those foolish enough to believe his relationship would never suffer such demise. He loved _____ so intensely it sometimes seemed to be endless. He could stare at the horizon their relationship was, as it extended as the sea did. He couldn’t tell where it stopped. But he was young and lacked experienced. Love would be enough, he had thought back then, and he had been very wrong. Love was the first stone for a solid marriage. The rest was a convoluted series of virtues and vices both had to work out and simultaneously make the decision to pull through.
They had failed at the task. They had fallen into the jaws of the routine until their relationship grew up stagnant. It hadn’t been an easy decision. After almost a decade together—from college where they met all the way to their early thirties—and a five-year-old boy they both loved beyond their physicality. Iwaizumi would sometimes spend hours staring at his son. He wondered what he could be dreaming about, he wondered about his own abilities as a father, especially when his marriage had failed.
It had been for the better. They were becoming strangers who could only snap at the other if they weren’t ignoring each other. How could the perfect relationship that had drove him into ecstasy so easily had become deadweight on his shoulders?
At first, he didn’t know. He was both relieved and saddened when he arrived at his flat. It was only him. No kiss from his wife or shouts of hoy from his son. He treated his divorce with the same fashion he would treat a regular break up. That’s how little he actually knew. You couldn’t simply get over the mother of your child, over the woman you surely swore was your companion for your short eternity on earth. That was his first lesson.
The second was the loss of communication with ______. He had thought the feelings they had felt for each other had died through their day to day life, and there wasn’t anything left to do. The reality was that love didn’t simply die. They had neglected each other. They had forgotten to talk, to have small and big details to help the other get through their issues—work it together. The had become two independent beings instead of working like a team. He had many regrets—many things he would do different.
It didn’t matter much anyway. It was too late. He was entering his second year as a divorced man and his five-year-old was now seven and the three of them had fallen into their new dynamic. They had adapted. Iwaizumi got out of his car and walked to the entrance of the building. He rang two times. “Hi, who’s there?” a very childish voice spoke. Iwaizumi smiled.
“A monster.”
Tiny giggled were heard. “Hi, dad! I’ll let you in!”
The buzzer went off and Iwaizumi entered the building. _____ had moved after their divorce. She had rented a different apartment not too far from their original home, or at least what have been their first home as a family. He had stayed a little longer in their old flat. He had due to their contract and it had been a slow torture. Two months later he was free and he rented his own flat. He had liked somewhere closer his son but that year wasn’t his year by any means.
He knocked on the now familiar door 401.
The door was thrown open abruptly, making a big slamming noise against the wall. “Eiichi!” ______ screamed, her quick steps coming fast from down the hall. She came to a halt and the air left her mouth when she was met with Iwaizumi laid back postured with his eyes planted in her. She seemed to stunned Iwaizumi couldn’t help arching an eyebrow. “Are you okay, _____?” He was always careful when saying her name, as if it was forbidden to him to say it. This was another heartbreaking sign of how radically everything could change between two persons.
“I am. Sorry. I forgot today was your day,” she admitted. “Let me go get Eiichi’s bag ready. Come in, if you want.”
She was gone before Iwaizumi could say anything else. He nodded to himself and closed the door. Eiichi was soon all over him, telling him about his latest adventure. He was barely five years old. He was discovering the world. Everything was whimsical and mysterious to him, and as a father, it was an endearing process to watch. He wished he could be there on a daily basis to see every step of the way. He would be surprised of the strong nostalgia he was undergoing, but with the second anniversary of his divorce so closed, he was bound to feel like that.
______ came back with a red backpack and handed it to Iwaizumi, offering a fleeting smile. “There’s everything he will need for tonight.”
“Okay. I’ll bring him back tomorrow afternoon.”
“Sure.” Silence invaded the room and Iwaizumi knew it was his queue to leave. He got up with the red backpack hanging from his shoulder and gave ______ one last glance before walking out the apartment together with Eiichi, who continued rambling with his clumsy words and ill-formed sentences.
Iwaizumi carried his son and securing him into the backseat and after checking it twice, he went to the front seat and left. The nostalgia eventually dissipated. His son took over his attention and he had no time to travel down memory lane about the life he used to have. The days he spent with Eiichi were the ones he cherished the most, but they were also the most exhausting. He had been warned about the shot of energy children got around the age Eiichi was, and they had not been wrong. After a whole day at the park, running and climbing around, he had finally given Eiichi a bath, put on his pajamas and settled him in the small dinner table adjacent to his living room. The television was playing from across the room. The cartoon was hypnotizing the little boy, who sometimes forgot to chew and left his mouth hung open watching it. Iwaizumi had to give small nudges to Eiichi for him to continue eating.
A divorce could be vicious and Iwaizumi had heard horror stories about it. Not to say his had gone smoothly, but it had been more about the grudges he and _____held against each other, the issues they had kept unspoken and had led to the failure of their marriage. There hadn’t been cheating or someone new in the picture. It was just them and poor communication. They had put those differences aside and concurred to share custody because at least both agreed Eiichi didn’t have to pay for mistakes that weren’t his. Therefore, Iwaizumi had rented a flat with an extra room for Eiichi. It wasn’t a simple guest room, it was decorated accordingly to his age. It was for him and no one else.
Iwaizumi pulled out the bedsheet and signaled Eiichi with his head. “Come on. Get in.”
He did as told and climbed the bed until he was sitting down, his legs hanging from the edge. Iwaizumi knelt, taking off the pair of slippers ______ had included for Eiichi to use. “Are you and mom getting back together?” he suddenly asked, taking his father aback.
“Why do you ask?”
“I checked mom’s drawer and she has a picture of the two of you.”Iwaizumi’s curiosity sparked up. “What drawer?”
“In her room. She sometimes takes it out but then it’s inside the drawer again. That’s why I checked. She doesn’t know I checked.”
He smiled apologetically to him. “Well, there’s no plan for that happening. I’m sorry, bud.”
Eiichi looked down, swinging his legs a couple times before getting inside the covers. “It’s okay.”
Iwaizumi kissed his forehead. The hint of sadness in Eiichi’s face broke him to the core. The more he grew, the more he discovered and rationalized the circumstances around him, and life didn’t go easy on anybody and it pained Iwaizumi to know there were going to be many situations where he wouldn’t be able to protect Eiichi. He tugged the covers a little bit higher and turned the lights off. He left the door slightly ajar and stood still on the spot. He had never seen a picture of _____ and him in her apartment. He had been there a lot, he would’ve noticed his face. He pondered on the piece of information Eiichi had thrown out of pure curiosity. Could it be that ______ wasn’t entirely over them? Could she still think about him? Perhaps and she wondered as much as him what could’ve happened if they had tried a little bit more, a little bit harder.
Iwaizumi tried to go to sleep, too, but it was around two in the morning, after endless runarounds in his head he was able to fall asleep. The last thing in his mind was his wife, and even after, she appeared in his dreams.
….
He woke up to his son opening the door and climbing into his bed. Eiichi poked him on the cheek a couple times. “Dad, I’m hungry.”
Iwaizumi groaned and then yawned. “I’m coming.” Eiichi jumped two times and then off of the bed. “Careful,” he oredered, his voice still raspy, but Eiichi was already running down the hallway.
Thankfully, he had remembered to get frozen waffles. He warmed up a pair in the toaster for Eiichi and another pair for him. He cut a slice of butter for each waffle and took both plates to the living room. Breakfast was quiet with Eiichi again hypnotized by some cartoon. This gave time Iwaizumi to spend more time with his thoughts. He couldn’t stop going over as of why ______ still had a picture of them in her nightstand, and why was she hiding it? She didn’t have it for Eiichi, if that was the case she would let him have it. She wasn’t even showing the picture to him.
Maybe… just Maybe…
He decided to take Eiichi earlier back to his mother. He wouldn’t be able to shake off his doubts and he had never been a man to shy away. If their relationship had spiraled down, they could pick it back up. They had been fantastic together once, and if he was honest with himself, he missed his life with them. He missed seeing Eiichi daily, not missing a bit of his life. And he missed ______. He missed her as his wife, as his partner.
He pulled on her street half past six—a couple hours before he had to. Eiichi didn’t question. He had no idea at what time he was supposed to arrive, either way. However, ______ was surprised to see him there so early. Eiichi ran past her and disappeared inside the flat. “You’re early. Is something wrong?” she asked bewildered.
“No, I just wanted to see if we can chat.”
“Uhm, okay.” She stepped aside, letting him come inside and walking to the living room. Iwaizumi sat on a different couch than _____. He wasn’t going to push his luck. He went over his question. It was easy and straightforward. However, he couldn’t help feeling like he was twenty again, walking across the room and making some small talk to her and see if he had a chance. He was nervous and unsure if it was the right thing to do.
“So, what is it?” she asked when faced with his silence.
Iwaizumi liked his upper lip as his fingers intertwined on his lip. “Why do you have a picture of us in your drawer?” She sat straight, blinking fast. Her mouth opened and closed, hesitating on emitting any sound. He had taken her aback entirely. “Eiichi told me about,” he clarified, making it impossible for her to lie or avoid the answer.
She looked around huffing. “Well, we were married, Hajime. We were together for too long. Not all of us get over things that easily,” she explained, avoiding looking directly at him.
Iwaizumi felt it like a direct shot at him. “Who said I got over it easy? I think about my life here with you and Eiichi all the time. I missed my life in here.”
“Hajime…”
“I’m being honest. Sometimes I just wish I could still be here.”
“If you want to see Eiichi more, you know you can.”
“I’m not only talking about him. I miss us. I think we could have fixed it if we had really tried.”
“We were tired of each other,” she said in a whisper, which told Iwaizumi she wasn’t rock solid on that position. It was the reason why their relationship had ended. That had been the catch phrase of their divorce.
“Maybe we could have used a break but I think divorcing was too extreme.”
“What are you trying to get to?”
“If you aren’t over us, I would actually like to try it again. We could make it work.”
“We can’t just jump right where we left things.”
“No, of course not. We’ll take it slow. I think it’s worth it.”
She held his gaze with hers. She wasn’t agreeing with him, but she wasn’t rejecting him either. He didn’t dare to blink. He wanted to seem confident with his proposal so she could give in.
“What if it doesn’t work again?” she asked.
“Then we go back to… this,” he declared rather calmly. He couldn’t ignore that option existed. Still, he wanted to believe the time they spent apart and the maturity they had gained in those two years was enough to make it right.
She nodded and stood up. “Are you staying for dinner, then?”
Iwaizumi smiled wide, standing up as well. “If there isn’t a problem, I am.”
She grinned shyly and turned away before he could see her. “Let me set another place on the table.”
“I’ll help you,” he offered, and then followed her into the kitchen Needless to say, he was thrilled. The door for a second chance had been opened to him.

Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Series Masterlist
After finishing her grocery shopping, Y/N went home and started her short list of chores. She still hadn’t heard back from Bucky or even from Steve for that matter. Either way, it was fine with her. She knew if she didn’t take her mind off things, she’d freak out about the dinner. A simple freaking dinner, she kept reminding herself. It wasn’t until around 4:15 that her phone finally lit up.
(Unknown number)- Hey doll, it’s Steve.
(Unknown number)- Just wanted to let you know I got off. Bucky said your gonna meet us for dinner tonight?
(Y/N)- Hey! Sure am! Hope that’s okay with you.
(The Stevenator)- Of course it is! I just didn’t want you to feel obligated to come.
(Y/N)- Man you caught me.
(The Stevenator)- ??
(Y/N)- I thought Bucky would give me a ticket if I said no.
(Y/N)- 🤣🤣
(The Stevenator)- … you’re a punk.
(Y/N)- ❤. But seriously, I do really want to join you both tonight.
(Y/N)- Bucky never said a time though since he wasn’t sure when you’d get off.
(The Stevenator)- how about 5:30? I want to shower the office off first.
(Y/N)- Works for me! Just text me the address and I’ll meet you there.
(The Stevenator)- 👍
Y/N giggled and spilled her phone in her pocket and went to get ready for her dinner. She already had an argument with Maddie earlier. It wasn’t a date. They asked her out to eat, probably to get to know her better, but never once said it was a date. So why were her palms sweating when she pulled up to the restaurant?
Taking a deep breath, Y/N grabbed her purse and slowly stepped out of her car. When she walked in, she was hit with the mouth-watering smell and the upbeat atmosphere of the little restaurant. She spotted Bucky and Steve sitting on a high top on the other side of the room. Bucky was facing the door, his face lit up when he spotted Y/N walk in. She waved and made her way to the table. Steve and Bucky both stood, beaming at her. Her breath caught in her throat. How does she always forget how attractive these two are? Both were dressed casually, opting for jeans and simple t-shirts, but it was enough to get her heart racing.
“Hey! I guess you found the place okay.” Steve said, leaning forward to press a kiss to her cheek. Y/Ns face lit up, a giddy giggle slipping from her lips. Bucky reached out and gave her a side hug before ushering her to the empty seat beside him.
“Yeah. I’m surprised I’ve never been here before. I hadn’t realized I drive past this place every day.” Y/N hung her purse on the back of the chair as she sat. She couldn’t help but notice Bucky scoot his chair closer when her back was turned, his arms brushing against hers. Y/N titled her head to look at Bucky, noticing instead of his hair slick back he left it to curl naturally at the top and gave him a softer appearance than last night.
“This is one of our favorite places.” Bucky grinned, motioning to the menu. “We got a call a few months back about a fight. The owner wouldn’t let us leave without a free meal after we took care of the drunk and we’ve been hooked ever since.”
Y/N laughed and picked up the menu.
“Well, anything can be good if it’s free. But if you keep comin’ back, it probably is. What do you recommend?”
More than happy to help, the two showed her their favorites and then some. It was funny watching them bicker over what was better, the two act more like a married couple. After much deliberation and plenty of feedback on what was best, she was finally able to pick something.
“I swear you two are a bigger handful than me.” Y/N chuckled. Both men ducked their head, blushing at her teasing. “No, really. I’m impressed. I didn’t think I’d ever meet someone on my level.”
“Well, we’ve learned some tricks from the best.” Bucky chuckled and nudged her with his shoulder. He shared a glance with Steve, the corners of Steve’s lips turned up. She had no clue what the look meant, but she could tell it had a hidden meaning. Clearing her throat, Y/N shifted in her seat. Their gaze snapped to her, something unreadable in their expressions.
“So, how was work today?” She asked. Steve let out a sigh and sank back in his seat.
“It was… well, work. I wasn’t actually supposed to be in today, but there was paperwork that didn’t get filed right so I had to go in and help.”
“Technically, you didn’t,” Bucky interjected. Steve narrowed his eyes at Bucky, his lips curling into a frown. Bucky ignored the glare and turned to Y/N. “Steve has a plan to be captain one day. So, he feels it's his duty to take care of every problem that comes up.”
“I don’t feel-.” Steve started. Bucky waved him off with a hand.
“Nah, you do this a lot. I get you want to be captain, but sometimes you have to let people figure their shit out first before you jump in to help. It’s a nice thought, but he runs himself ragged most days because he over works.”” Y/N could tell from Bucky’s tired tone this has been an ongoing argument between the two of them.
“Well, being a captain would be great.” Y/N jumped in. “But I’d have to agree with Bucky. People need to learn from their mistakes, but you, more importantly, need to worry about your health.”
Steve shrugged and pushed around his silverware. She could tell he at least felt guilty, but Y/N also had a feeling he wasn’t going to change anytime soon.
“What about you, Bucky?” She asked. “Any plans on moving up in the ranks?”
Bucky shrugged. “I was planning on at least making it to sergeant. I have a test coming up here soon, but I don’t think I’m going to pass.”
Steve snorted. “Oh please. I found you last week passed out on your textbooks on the kitchen table. If you're not at work or eating, you’ve got your nose buried in the books. You’ll pass no problem.”
“Yeah. Okay.” Bucky sighed. Y/N elbowed him in the side, not liking his tone.
“Hey. Don’t sell yourself short. I’m sure you’ll do great.”
“Thanks, doll.” Bucky blushed, ducking his chin. Steve chuckled and shook his head.
“And what about you? I’m guessing you have to go through the ranks too?”
“He’s actually is already a sergeant.” Bucky grinned, pride oozing out of his pores. Steve blushed bright red. Y/N’s eyes shot up to her hairline.
“Really? You never said anything about being a sergeant when you pulled me over.”
“Yeah, well. It’s a recent development.” Steve mumbled.
“Steve started a year before me, so he’s had a head start. But yep. He’s a sergeant and I’m under his command.” Bucky chuckled.
“For four more weeks. Then you’ll take the test, pass and then in seven or so weeks have your own squad that will drive you up a tree.” Steve corrected him. Y/N giggled softly as Bucky’s scoff.
“You asked for it when you wanted me in your squad. Not my fault the Captain picked Wilson too.”
Steve groaned and rolled his eyes, landing on Y/N.
“So, what about you? You know what we do, what do you do?”
A giggle bubbled up her lips and Bucky rolled his eyes at Steve’s veer in the conversation. She explained what she did, nowhere near as interesting as their line of work, but they didn’t seem slightly put off with it. They soaked in every word she said, not once turning their attention away from her as she spoke. It wasn’t until their food was set in front of her that they let themselves get distracted.
The food still didn’t stop them, they filled the silence on her end by chatted about anything and most everything as they ate. Bucky and Steve seemed more interest in knowing as much as they could about Y/N than talking about themselves. Not that she complained, they actually seemed interested in what she was saying.
“So, no cats or dogs?”
“Nope.” Y/N shook her head. “I haven’t had much time, but I’ve been thinking of getting maybe a cat. What about you?”
“Nah, we don’t have time either. With one or both of us gone, we couldn’t really get a pet right now.” Steve shrugged, taking a bite from his fries. Y/N’s brows furrowed, questions she had were quickly being answered, but also opened up a lot more.
“Do you live together?”
Bucky nodded. “Yup. We’ve known each other for years, so figured it wouldn’t hurt to live together.”
Y/N hummed, taking a sip from her drink. She missed the meaningful glance the two shared, their lips twitching to hide their grins. When Y/N turned back, the looks were gone. Unaware, Y/N moved on in the conversation while picking at her food. Twenty minutes later, Y/N had to stop touching her food.
“I can’t eat anymore.” Y/N sighed, leaning back in her seat. She still had some food left on her plate, but the other two’s plate was completely wiped clean. They echoed her sentiment, Bucky rubbing his stomach while Steve slouched back in the chair. The waitress stepped up then, motioning to their plates.
“Can I clear any of these plates for you?”
“Sure can.” Bucky nodded and stacked the plates, passing them her way.
“Are these separate checks or all on one?”
“I’m separate.”
“All on one.”
Bucky and Y/N said at the same time. They both stopped short, mouth’s snapping shut and turned to face each other. Steve and the waitress giggled while the two sitting next each other had a short standoff. Bucky raised a brow, almost as if inviting her to start arguing.
“I’m the one who invited you out.” He stated determinedly. Y/N started to protest, but Bucky cut her off look. “Nope. My treat. You can pay next time if you really want.”
Y/N sighed and threw her hands up. Bucky was dead set on paying, and she was too full to argue. He nodded for the waitress to leave, smugly grinning with his arms crossed against his chest. Steve shook his head and turned to Y/N.
“You know he’s not gonna let you pay next time, right?”
“Oh, I’m fully aware.” Y/N let a huff of air through her nose. Bucky ignored the two, leaning back with his arm draped along the back of her chair. Y/N’s face burned when she felt his hand brush against her shoulder.
“What can I say? My mamma raised me right.”
“You’re ridiculous.”
“And yet, you’re still sitting here.” He pointed out with a smug girl. The waitress came back with the check, and Bucky set a few bills in the servers wallet. Y/N knew this was the end of their dinner, and she had a lot she had to tell Maddie the next day. However, right now, she didn’t want to leave their company. From the looks on their faces, they didn’t either. Bucky let out a heavy sigh, his thumb brushing softly against her shoulder. Y/N unconsciously leaned into his hand, finding comfort in his touch.
“Well, as much as I’d like to sit, we should probably head out before out before it gets much later,” Steve said unhappily and reluctantly stood. Bucky grumbled and withdrew his arm. He pushed back to stand and stuck his hand out to help her stand as well.
Walking to Y/N to her car, the two-sided up beside, surrounding her in their warmth. Y/N already found it harder to leave them, being between them didn’t help either. She couldn’t ignore the butterflies growing in her stomach. They made her feel safe, and not just because they were police officers. They had been nothing but sweet and attentive the entire night. Crap, she thought as they stopped beside her car, she was quickly falling for them. And she had a feeling there was something more going on between the two men.
They stopped at the front of her car, Y/N taking one step forward to face them both. Bucky and Steve filled in the gap, standing so close their arms brushed against each other. Y/N let her eyes linger for a moment, noting they were equally oblivious to the fact they just stepped closer. She smiled and looked at their faces, both appearing a little troubled by her silence.
“I had a really good time tonight.” She said softly.
Steve slowly smiled back, untucking his hands from his pockets to step forward for a hug. Y/N wrapped her arms around his waist, letting him tug her close and nuzzle against her head. Her eyelids fluttered shut, unconsciously taking in a deep breath, his clean and pleasing scent hitting her senses. He remaindered her of a rainy spring day. She bit the inside of her cheek, holding back a groan.
Steve was reluctant to pull back, but Bucky cleared his throat behind him. He glared at the brunette over his shoulder, but stepped back, his hands lingering on her hip. He pressed a kiss against her cheek, sucking in a sharp breath through his nose before he pulled back.
“I really enjoyed tonight too.” He murmured; his blue eyes boring deeply into her own. She couldn’t stop her body from trembling at the fire behind his look. It was enough to turn her brain to mush and to forget all coherent thoughts. Given no time to recover, Bucky was there, sweeping her up in his arms into another hug.
Y/N didn’t hesitate to wrap her arms under his, tightening her grip on the back of his shirt. Just like Steve she was hit with his smell, only sharply different. While Steve smelled clean, Bucky was a dark and heady. It was almost like dark chocolate and oak. He tightened his grip around her waist, holding her for as long as he could before he too stepped back. Not to be outmatched by Steve, he placed a kiss on her opposite cheek.
“We’d love to do this again sometime if that’s alright with you?” He rasped, tilting his head to the side while he watched Y/N’s face. She glanced over to Steve, who had the same earnest expression and back to Bucky.
Y/N couldn’t find her voice, nodded and licked her lips. Bucky’s gaze snapped down to her mouth, watching her tongue slip back between her lips. He had to step back, not only for himself, but he could tell Y/N needed a chance to catch her breath.
“I-uh. Yes.” She stuttered. “I’d really like that.”
The two men grinned, the shoulders relaxing. Steve’s phone vibrated in his pocket, the shrill beep shattering the atmosphere. He sighed.
“Probably someone from work.” He groaned. Bucky frowned and glared at the phone.
“Well, you’re off tonight and tomorrow. That can wait till Monday if they can’t figure it out on their own.” He snapped. Turning back to Y/N he nudged her towards her car. “Text us when you get home doll.”
“Right.” Y/N agreed, still trying to gather her wits. She unlocked her car and swung the door open, stopping just before climbing into the seat. She looked over to Steve and Bucky, who were still standing at the front end of her car. “Don’t go in, if that’s what they’re calling you about. You need a break to regroup yourself, and you can’t do that if you keep going in every time someone calls you about spilled milk.”
Steve blinked in shock, his mouth falling open with no reply. Y/N didn’t wait, climbed into her car and shut the door. As she started the car and put in reverse, she watched Bucky elbow Steve in the side, a giant smug grin on his face. She could tell him was bragging about him being right from the way Steve rolled his eyes. She giggled and back up, waving once before pulling away.
She drove home, dazed and happy. When she pulled into a parking spot in her apartment complex, it smacked right in the face her. She just had a date with Steve and Bucky. And she just agreed to have more. Maddie was going to get a kick out of this.
