Alright I'm gonna say it. Streaming sucks. Streaming sucks, and it sucks for two main reasons. One, too many people have had their comeback experiences ruined by feeling pressured to stream. And two, streaming prevents the artist from knowing whether people listened to their music because they like it, or because people felt pressured to meet some arbitrary goal

#i can't stop thinking about this so i just need to say it #personally I've never felt pressured to stream but I've seen too many people say that they feel guilty for not being able to stream #which is so sad #and look. I'm not gonna judge you if you like streaming. that's your prerogative as long as you don't pressure others into it #but it is a shame that it's basically making it impossible to tell which songs are actually loved and appreciated by fans #i don't dislike butter but it's not my favorite song of theirs #I'm sure people who love butter wouldn't even say it's their best song! #but according to youtube records it is their best song #it skews the stats that's all I'm saying........ #and this is kinda about butter but it's also not. it's much bigger! #and I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade- i love seeing people celebrate their favorite artist's new release!! #but for the music industry as a whole....... i really wish we would put streaming wayyyy lower on the list of priorities #anyways....... that's what i wanted to say #please don't come at me on anon and call me a fake fan or whatever other hate you want to send... i will just delete it #i actually don't think this is a controversial take but I've seen people get hate for smaller things so. #be quiet taylor
