May I perhaps ask why you don’t like Taylor?
You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to, in just curious! Either way I want to say I love seeing your posts and I just think you’re the coolest❤️
let me start by saying that you don't need a moral reason to not like something or someone. sometimes they're just annoying. that being said, while i do think taylor is annoying, i also do dislike her for moral reasons. disclaimer over. on with the reply.
honestly i used to like her!! if you scroll far back enough i'm sure you'll even find some taylor swift posts, or me talking about the speak now listening party my cousin hosted that she roped me into participating in (and the fob themed bracelets i made). what really put a sour taste in my mouth was the show in rio.
she's a rich white person. i shouldn't have expected better. but i did, because it's taylor swift, and people love her. and then the show in rio happened. the girl – ana clara – died, and her response just angered.....everybody i know. i'm brazilian, i live in brasil and to go on twitter, to talk to my swiftie cousins, and find out that people were creating a gofundme to pay to get ana clara's body to her parents because they're from the interior do rio and couldn't afford to do it themselves? all the while this billionaire was on stage saying she didn't want to talk about it?
meanwhile, in the us, when a white fan passes out during a show taylor's mom shows up at the hospital and takes pictures with the fan and gives them taylor merch. it's such a sick double standard. and she's not the only celebrity to treat poc fans this way, but she's the only one you can't say a word about, because it's misogynistic. because taylor's untouchable.
and then there's the private jet thing, and the silence on palestine thing, and the sexual assaulters she's friends with thing and just. i'm supposed to ignore and excuse all of that for mediocre albums?
don't get me wrong, i don't think she's a horrible musician. i don't even think people should stop listening to her and hate her and harass her. i'm not your mom, i'm not here to boss you around. she's even got songs i really like, but i don't love august enough to ignore everything else.
and then also she's a huge raging capitalist and a billionaire and i hate both capitalists and billionaires on principle.
that's it. i don't usually talk about her because i don't care enough to be making anti posts, but it's one am and i'm not worried about the consequences right now so :P
also thank you!!! you're the coolest too :)

Domestic life with the book guys featuring the Twisted series by Ana Huang
*In honor of the fact that I have been so stressed my period came a whole two weeks early (live, laugh, love) please enjoy the absolute outpour of content this following week :)
Alex Volkov (Twisted Love by Ana Huang)
If we are going strictly off of Alex's character in Twisted Love it can be safe to assume that he is not going to be warm and mushy. This does not mean that there won't be any larger than life proclamations of love (I mean this man dropped 40k easy on a painting just because his girl wanted it), but he isn't going to be doing anything over the top in public
Following the previous point if you are expecting PDA I hate to tell you the most you'll be getting is maybe some light hand holding and a very quick hug
If there is a book man who is the definition of introverted I so see Alex fitting that description
He may not tell you he loves you verbally, but there are other ways he shows you. He might keep your favorite snacks in stock at the house so you never run out. He is going to have all of your favorite games and movies at the house so if you ever want to stay in you're able to.
Now if we're going off of Alex's character development throughout the Twisted Series and further on we can tell Alex is slowly coming out of his shell. He is still severely introverted, but he clearly is getting better at mild PDA.
Alex is as Taylor Swift would say Midnight Rain and he honestly just needs someone who will either be an absolute ray of sunshine or loves to dance in that rain (metaphorically speaking of course he would never actually want to dance in the rain for fear of getting you sick)
As we can clearly tell that man is constantly dropping a pretty penny on whatever you want. Looked a little too long at the purse in the window and boom it's wrapped up on the table when you get home. Mention wanting to read a book ONCE and he has it delivered in hardback (it's also autographed duh)
As far as like living together domestic life this man is spotless. He doesn't leave dirty dishes, dirty clothes, literally anything behind. He keeps control of his life in the form of keeping everything clean, orderly, and planned out.
This clearly follows into the bedroom because this man is never ever going to give over control. "Oh he might be a switch" No. Nope. Never. Don't see it happening sorry.
Alex is clearly not a very words of affirmation person, but quality time seems important to him. He will never admit it, but he is a cuddler like big time. Short of it being a quickie this man is not having sex with you and not getting his cuddles afterwards. Would he rather die than admit this to anyone ever? 1000x yes However as clean as this man is he is not laying in dirty sheets.
He wasn't given a proper upbringing and spending time with you doing mundane tasks around the house heals part of his inner child. You need to go to the grocery store? He's right there pushing the buggy. You need to wash dishes? He is ready to dry and put them up.
Rhys Larsen (Twisted Games by Ana Huang)
This man is about as protective and possessive as they come do we need to revise the chapter on him threatening to burn down parliament? *enter swooning here*
He is a sucker for safety because if anything happened to you that he could have prevented everyone better be praying
PDA is all based on timing. Rhys can read a room and he knows when he gets to let them know you're his and when it's not appropriate
Rhys is former military and he has gone through a lot. This man is a shell of who he used to be and the book clearly showed us that, however Rhys is the perfect example of how if you are broken once before that you won't remain broken forever. He struggles with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), technically it's known as C-PTSD (Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). He is so used to giving up control to follow orders that sometimes he just needs to be reminded he's human and that regardless of the outcome everything will be okay.
He loves going on vacations where you can just get away from the world for a while and turning off the buzz of everything going on
As a way to cope with his C-PTSD Rhys uses drawing to relax. You'll often find little scraps of paper around the house with his sketches on them.
It's hard for Rhys to open up, but when he does you understand it was well worth the wait
Say what you want, but I firmly believe Rhys is a switch. This man could truly go either way and I think it depends on the situation. He doesn't have very many "no's" but if anything could seriously hurt you he is not down for it. He is covered in enough scars left by others that he would never want to take a risk that could leave you with that same lifelong reminder.
This man is the kind to show up at 3am with a dog he found on his way home and how he's only allowed to stay for one night and you end up keeping the dog forever
His phone screensaver is literally a photo of you and the dog because let's be real he can't pick a favorite
This man is a slut for emotional intimacy
If you told him "Oh I got you this cause I remembered you liked them", "I heard this song and thought of you", or "I thought you might like this" he is going to be thinking about it for forever
Rhys is going to make it well known that you're his girl
Josh Chen (Twisted Hate by Ana Huang)
*I have to say Josh is my least favorite, but I will try to do him justice*
This man is a doctor (and a bit of an ass tbh) so he would not trust anyone else to take care of you, if you get sick it's Dr. Chen to the rescue
He loves bringing you random food at work, but he also has a really tight schedule being a doctor and all so if he can't deliver it in person he will have it waiting on you when you get home
Let's be real Josh's personal life is a little bit of a mess and I wouldn't expect anything different from him on how he would keep a house. There would be rumpled clothes all over and the bed might never get made. He would pick up his trash, but if the dishes didn't make it in the dishwasher they were simply waiting till next time to get done.
Now Josh is nothing short of a playboy for the most part so the idea of him settling down will definitely be an adjustment.
Due to Josh being a doctor and still working to pay off his student loans he can't really afford fancy vacations or expensive gifts. Josh really loves just eating cheap takeout with you and watching movies
We all know Josh isn't the best with his words and is really hot headed, this often leads to Josh more so apologizing and a rather decent amount of makeup sex
Josh is the definition of all out rough, break your back like a glow stick sex. He's going to degrade you and yet have you coming back for more every single time. He's cocky and quiet honestly he has a few good reasons to be
He is more likely to fuck now and ask questions later it's just the Josh Chen way
Emotionally intimacy? Josh doesn't know her (maybe a little) but this man is more likely to have you open up to him before he ever opens up to you. He's been betrayed by some people who were incredibly close to him before and he will be damned if he makes that mistake ever again
Christian Harper (Twisted Lies by Ana Huang)
Rhys and Christian are big buddies so it makes sense that they are going to be extremely similar, but different in their own little ways
Christian has little use for moral code and much less what society deems as correct, but if you deem it correct than he is going to break his back bending over backwards to make that happen for you
Christian is the grumpy cat of the group. Sassy, grumpy and yet just the perfect combo of attractive to have that attitude forgotten (almost)
He runs his own security company and if you think he goes overboard for his clients you have no idea how overboard he will go for your safety
He is the definition of a German Shepard boyfriend; looks scary, fiercely protective, and is willing to chase down the mail man if he threatens you
Christian is a make his own rules type of man. If you're uncomfortable or upset he doesn't give a single crap he is going to do what makes you happy
You know this man makes note of everything single thing you like; your favorite drinks, your favorite movies, which friends annoy you the most and why (Christian is an honorary girlie he loves all the tea)
This man is petty to the T
If something small annoys him he is going to remember it until the day he dies
Opening up is hard for Christian and I think it would take a lot to get the point where he is open to freely sharing information with you
He is more likely to tell you about something that bothers him on a small day to day basis than telling you the big stuff from his past
Christian knows that he is the physical embodiment of big dick energy and does not disappoint
I really don't ever see Christian not being dominant, but hey I could be persuaded to think otherwise given the situation. I just don't personally see it
This is a man gives off the vibes of being downright obsessed. If you made cookies that tasted like straight up saw dust he would eat them all to see you smile before you would be able to pry the truth about how bad they were out of him

the problem with love interests for buck and eddie, why the fandom hates them all except tommy, and why buddie endgame would save the showrunners a lot of hassle A RAMBLING ESSAY
ok, so POINT ONE, let's be real, let's call spade a spade: a not insignificant part of that is ✨ (internalised) misogyny✨
you love these two characters, right? buck and eddie, and you love to see them interact and watch how the depths of their friendship deepen even further and you want to see a queer love story on screen because it would be so FUCKING cool, there can never ever be enough of those, and it's right there, it's within reach, WHY IS SOME WOMAN HERE TAKING UP VALUABLE BUDDIE/QUEER-POTENTIAL SCREENTIME
how do i know this? because ive experienced it, and i would bet a not insignificant portion of my worldly possessions that im not the only one
it's kinda fucked up, but i think if we breathe through it, engage rational thought and don't join a mob spewing vitriol in the actors' and showmakers' spaces about it, we can be kinda fucked up about it and learn how to manage it on tumblr and ao3
but that was just point one, what about the rest? or are we all simply crazed shippers who need to touch grass?
nope.
so why do we hate Buck and Eddie's love interests except for tommy?
TLDR:
whoever Eddie and Buck end up with MUST have at least one single good, deep-ish relationship with someone other than them from the 118, otherwise the narrative is overpeopled and overwhelming.
that's why Tommy works and Taylor, Ana, Natalia, Marisol etc don't
there won't be an endgame relationship for either Buck and Eddie before the show starts wrapping up
edit, after getting lost in the tags and seeing how truly unhinged parts of the fandom have become/always been: ok, part of the reason the fandom hated those women definitely was the fact yall need a kick up the butt about the fact that you treat shipping as though it's an office people are sworn into and the fandom's job is to monitor it and police it by mobbing wtf is wrong with you (those of you who are doing it?)
anyway, read more of my long-ass theory below 🤣
well, point two is the nature of the show and the structure of the episodes
it's an ensemble, feel-good-with-spectacles show that for narrative coherence relies on tying the calls the ensemble responds to to some sort of an event that is relevant to one of the character's personal life
that's a lot to ask of 45 minutes, so it's lucky that the main characters (bobby, athena, buck, chimney, hen, maddie, eddie) are paired up for these personal narratives and lessons: bobby+athena, bobby+buck, bobby+eddie, hen+karen, hen+chim, chim+maddie, maddie+buck, buck+eddie
just look at it. it is A LOT of stories, right?
and since family life, building a family, making a family, staying a family is the name of the game in this show, it's lucky that bobby and athena, chimney and maddie, hen and karen are established as their own little family units with romantic relationships and can go through all these things together
but what about eddie and buck? well, they're their own unit, along with christopher. they're great together and it's satisfying to watch them on screen together, so we want more of it. and...
and look, the fact is that most of the narratives we see in general are amatonormative. we are conditioned to look for romantic love in every story we watch. that's not necessarily wrong or bad. it's just the way we are as a society.
because 118 is a found family that's formed of traditional family units (by which i mean amatonormative) the firehouse family is the larger overarching structure, the foundation on which the romantic relationships are built, the pin that holds all the strings together.
buck and eddie are the only ones with loose romantic strings.
when we see two romantically unattached characters on screen, attaching them becomes the goal. getting them a proper love interest gives you narrative tension and something to work towards and build a story around.
the problem is that 911 already has a shitton of characters. and to write a love story that would be satisfying and on par with what Bobby has with Athena, Hen with Karen and Maddie with Chimney, you need to give both parts of the couple time on screen, together and separately. the separately is veeery important.
we love these couples because we've watched them grow and we've seen them fail and we've got to know them.
now tell me, WHERE THE FUCK DO YOU GET THAT AMOUNT OF SCREENTIME FOR TWO NEW WHOLE CHARACTERS?? in 45 minutes where at least 3 things are happening to the main cast at once and also there's explosions and car crashes and DJs glued to billboards?
WHERE?
well, you can introduce a new character through another storyline Buck and Eddie experience in episode. like Ana and the skateboard and Ali with the earthquake and Natalia with the living funeral and Marisol with the hardware store.
now, let me make something clear: there is NOTHING wrong with any of these characters. stg the way some of the fandom goes on about them you'd think these women are the satan. they could have worked in relationships with Buck and Eddie. IF they had been given the opportunity to become involved with the firehouse family in any way.
it's just not enough to have Ana watch over Eddie in hospital or sit on the couch with him and Chris, or play charades. that simply doesn't cut it.
Karen and Hen work because they are married and have a child together and have been from the start, even before we knew just how friendly Chim and Karen are. HenRen came as a unit, and Karen has been around long enough and given enough time throughout the entire show that we accept her as part of the firehouse family, even though she doesn't interact with the 118 other than Hen very often.
so if you want a longer term believable relationship that the audience can become attached to, what do you do?
well, you can give Ana a storyline with Athena and Hen, maybe there's an emergency at the school (no, bringing muffins during a blackout and eating them off screen just aint it chief). you can have Natalia call 911 and Maddie picks up, and Natalia gets another perspective on death that has less of a Ask-a-Mortician vibe and more terrible sudden tragedy.
so why not do that? the writers aren't idiots. I don't subscribe to the belief that they are utter geniuses and can do no wrong either (there has been stuff that was A CHOICE), but they know what they're doing.
idk if they didn't commit to the previously mentioned relationships because of stuff with budgets and actor availabilities and all that stuff that goes into a tv show production.
or if becuase when you leave your two unattached strings dangling, you have more stories to tell than if you leave only one.
THE PROBLEM OF TK (not from Lone Star)
well, you can also introduce a love interest another way.
you reach into the past and select a character your audience has already met. enter...
Taylor Kelly. ha, did you think I was gonna say Tommy Kinard? well, this does apply to Tommy too.
Taylor left an impression in Dosed, didn't she? there was chemistry between her and Buck, her job brought her naturally in contact with the firehouse calls, so why not bring her back as Buck's love interest?
why did so many of us hate her so much? why didn't she work?
it wasn't just that she took up buck-eddie-together screentime
I believe it's because even though Taylor's willingness to exploit Bobby's personal tragedy was (under a certain lens) presented as a girlboss move ("you don't have to like it"), it's an utterly despicable thing to do and besides "i tell other people's stories for a living because i hate telling my own" the show never (as far as i remember) gave her a moment when she could show she regretted her lack of compassion.
it wouldn't have taken much. just one single moment with Bobby (maybe even separately from Bobby), where she in some way shows that she knows that with great news-power comes great responsibility and she regrets the harm she did or could have caused not only to Bobby.
look at Tommy, he was a dickhead when we first met him. to Hen, to Chim, but we got that one reconciliation scene with Chimney and then a couple of short scenes interacting with the firehouse in a friendly way and we ADORE HIM.
and it's not just because Lou Ferrigno Jr. is hot and we like to see hot boys kissing other hot boys, though that does certainly contribute.
and it's not just because through Tommy, we get the possibility of a buddie endgame: although that also does contribute
it's because Tommy through those snippets in Chimney Begins, Hen Begins, Bobby Begins Again is already tied into the foundation of 118. Even without the occasional mentions through the rest of the show, even without the helicopter ride and the mouth static.
he's established, he's in good standing with the Family, he doesn't require massive amounts of screentime and storytime to make him so.
ADDITIONALLY, through a relationship with him we get to see Buck, the main character, explore who he is and evolve and come into his own.
I actually firmly believe that BuckTommy could be endgame and it would be a satisfying ending.
If it wasn't for Eddie flailing around talking about repression and catholic guilt.
Because we see how unhappy Eddie is, we seek to have him be comforted by his partner, the one other unattached romantic string, Buck. that's the only thing that makes sense. AT THE MOMENT.
unless they give us some serious Marisol experiences with the firehouse on screen, there is no way the Eddie and Marisol thing will be satisfying or long-lasting. no matter what bra the actress wears in which scene and how great the character allegedly is with christopher.
unless they give us another new character for Eddie to fall in love with that forms a bond with the firehouse.
srsly, without other good connection(s) to the firehouse family, any romantic interest for Buck and Eddie just doesn't feel like they belong because they are hanging onto the plot by just one string (to continue the metaphor), and they feel extraneous, redundant and don't mesh. we haven't had time with them, we're not invested in them, which makes them frustrating to watch because why are we here with this rando when buck/eddie in their place would be so much more satisfying?
(i believe lucy could have worked if they had given her more time and importance in the story, and didn't start her out with the cheating plotline. but i don't think she was ever srsly considered a love interest more of a complication to the buck/taylor stuff)
so why do I think Buddie can be an endgame only if the show's wrapping up?
because I don't think the writers will want to abandon the loose romantic strings for Buck and Eddie before the last season.
they won't want to miss out on the potential storylines
and even though if you get Buck and Eddie together romantically, you're going to get A LOT of story out of that, eventually, all water finds its level and so you can't have them on a relationship roller-coaster for too long before it becomes unsettling and unsatisfying.
Buck and Eddie would be excellent together not only because of the deep bond they already share, but because it lets the writers tie up loose ends without needing extra screentime for other characters. and once you put them together, you really don't want to break them apart. unless you want a how-i-met-your-mother shit ending.
so. that's it. that's my big spec and meta. thanks for coming to my ted talk.

you asking why you didn't get a hate mail is so callous when all the fans are asking for is justice for ana. brazilian swifties are upset with taylor's silence about this and rightfully so. ana's family is grieving and the fans had to band together to pay for the expenses when taylor's team should've handled this in the first place (she's a fucking billionaire for fucks sake). we're just asking for justice and respect, but all of this is just showing there's a clearly difference from how she deals with american vs latin american fans. have a good day I guess ✌🏻
No, they weren't simply asking for justice and action. They were hiding behind anonymous icons attacking my peers, trying to bully my mutuals, and calling our fandom a cult. Yeah, I'm going to be upset when my friends are being targeted and attacked online and demand people take the fight to me. Focusing on the main topic, I'm just curious as to why you don't think Taylor has done anything for the family? Are you in control of her PayPal? Are you a member of her team? I'm so so so thankful that fans were able to band together and help the family with the costs, it was a very time-sensitive issue and we don't know if Taylor was even made aware of said issue by the time the fans had taken care of it. To insinuate that Taylor has done NOTHING for the family seems a bit silly considering we have NO idea what's going on behind the scenes. Taylor wouldn't have postponed her show if she didn't care about her Brazilian fans. She wouldn't have interrupted her own concert, demanding her team and the security on-site to pass out water if she didn't care for her Brazilian fans. If Taylor has done something for the family, she probably kept that under wraps? Taylor has donated both anonymously and privately her entire career, and she's never been braggadocious about it either. When one of her OWN fans passes away at her own concert, what in the world would make you think that she WOULDN'T do everything in her power to try and help the family and friends? Because something hasn't been said publicly? Perhaps direct your anger toward the actual production company that created a dangerous environment for fans rather than the person who is clearly devastated and heartbroken by the events that happened this past weekend.

Is there any of Buck's exes that Eddie actually likes?
Abby, he stalked away in a vertical train from Buck when he brought up the promise Buck made to Abby to save her fiance. Abby who Eddie was around for the fallout of her leaving and ghosting Buck. She was Buck's first love and she left him behind and came back with a fiance. She hurt Buck deeply and that is something Eddie is likely to never forgive or forget.
Ali, she wasn't around enough and we didn't get to see her and Buck together much and we didn't see Buck and Eddie talk about her much either. Of course, she left Buck when he was recovering from the truck landing on his leg and Eddie would possibly hold that against her but she knew she wasn't cut out to be a partner of a first responder.
Taylor enough said. Eddie has never hidden his hatred of her. From the moment he met her, he hated her and we have seen petty and jealous Eddie the most when Taylor was around Buck. Even when Eddie was dating Ana we had petty and jealous Eddie not liking Taylor having Buck's attention. We have Eddie cook dinner to impress Buck and look so smug at Taylor as Buck praises his cooking. Then there is Taylor's book and I hope we see Eddie's reaction to Taylor using her relationship with Buck to write a book.
Then we have Natalia and I don't think Eddie agrees with her that Buck's death was cool.

Because i'm interested: disregarding Buddie and the fact that everyone didn't want to see them as such, did you see Ana and Taylor as possible endgame love interests when they were first (re-)introduced?
nope, i never saw them as permanent characters, and i'm frankly shocked that people genuinely believed that they would be, even in taylor's case. even though she was 'better' established than ana, she still remained firmly on the boundaries of buck's life and his real self, the most meaningful scenes she had with anyone aside from him was with lou, who hated her guts, everyone who loved buck was either extremely silent or disapproving about their relationship, and there's so many more examples i could give, but i think you get it. i don't think i need to explain why i knew ana's character was temporary lol. idk, i think it takes very basic comprehension skills to be able to tell that these characters were always intended to be temporary, and the people who were convinced that taylor would stay indefinitely and accused the show of being misogynistic when she was written off, were just extremely delusional.
come talk to me!

🔥 unpopular opinion is that Taylor Kelly was not a bad character or person. The writers just had her and Buck make shitty choices toward the end of their relationship to create drama for a breakup. If we ignore the cheating and the Jonah story, her only ‘crime’ was trying to expose Bobby when she was first introduced. Which she definitely should’ve apologized for, but be honest and say you hate Taylor in the same way you hated Ana. They’re in the way of your ship
I vehemently disagree. How did a Taylor stan end up on my blog? lol. This idea that people only hate female characters because of a ship is deeply misogynistic in nature and carries the implication that people possess no further depth of thought than either fetishism or jealousy, which I think we can all agree is inherently offensive and deeply untrue. Let's start there. Second of all, I don't think Taylor is a bad character; I don't think about her character enough to have opinions as to whether she was "good" or "bad" but she was not a stellar person. How can you defend a character if you're willing to "ignore the Jonah storyline" which was, in fact, a defining moment for her character? How can you defend a character when you admit she should have apologized for filming a man about to attempt suicide (very Jake Paul of her, now that I think about it) when one of the most important facets of that moment is the fact that she didn't apologize?
Sorry, anon, I'm not in the habit of ignoring key story details just to prop up a character I like. I'm not a "character enjoyer;" I'm a story enjoyer. That means I take the whole thing for what it is, good or bad, favorite characters and most hated characters, and in the context of the whole story, Taylor is not a great person nor did she make good decisions.
send me 🔥 + a topic for an unpopular opinion

my thoughts on buddie as "toxic shipping"
i recently read a post that discussed "toxic shipping" of mlm ships by straight women and their main/first example was buddie so i wanna talk about that. i won't be linking that post because i don't want people to hate on the op and clog their notes unnecessarily.
more thoughts and correct capitalization under the cut:
However, I do want to say that people often assume that the main shippers of mlm couples are cishet women and that is very often not true. I can't say this definitively, of course, and I've heard horror stories of middle-aged cishet white women who literally write mlm fanfiction but aren't cool with real life gay people (especially lesbians). However, as a (cis, white) lesbian I have many other queer friends who enjoy mlm fanfiction.
Okay, now more specifically with Buddie. I don't remember the exact points in this critique, but I'm going to try to focus on the ones I do remember. Hopefully, if that op finds this, they won't think I'm completely twisting their words. The first thing I want to say is that I don't know if the op has watched the show or just interacted with the fanbase. Either way, I have done both and want to add some insight.
Firstly, a big problem with non-canon mlm shipping is when fans hate on the real female love interests in the source material. Buddie fans definitely do this, but I want to give a bit of defense, centering three of the most important female love interests of both Buck and Eddie.
Abby Clark (Buck)
I don't have beef with Abby as a person or a character, but she very much hurt Buck and the way she left was a bit of an asshole move. I haven't seen a lot of criticism of her other than that and I think criticizing that is fair.
2. Ana Flores (Eddie)
Ana does get an unreasonable amount of hate, but it's still not that much from my POV? Most of what I've seen of Ana hate is just fanfiction where she is extremely OOC, and she doesn't show up enough on-screen for the audience to truly know her character. I think people mostly use her as a plot device, which is unfair but also kinda what happens to her in canon too. I also want to mention racism in connection with people hating Ana, as I am sure it (both consciously and unconsciously) affects how she is perceived, but as a white woman who has not done a lot of research I'm going to leave it there for other people to dig deeper into.
3. Taylor Kelly (Buck)
Oh Taylor Kelly. She is a much more active character than Ana, and even more than Abby simply because she's been in more seasons. Taylor has a very dynamic character on the show, and she gets a lot of that "canon female love interest of half of an mlm ship" hate. But also, Taylor Kelly fucking sucks! In canon, her and Buck have finally broken up, so I don't see a problem in saying that they were not right for each other, plus she did a bunch of really shitty stuff to the firehouse. She was literally introduced in an episode where she filmed the 118 while they were non-consensually drugged! And left after an episode where she made a promise to Buck about keeping their privacy and then immediately broke that promise for her job. Okay, I don't want to make this just a Taylor Kelly hate post, so that's all I'm gonna say about her. I understand that she has her own motivations and trauma but she's still done a lot of bad things and I am glad Buck broke up with her.
OKAY DONE WITH THAT
The other main point that the op had was that it's shitty to call a ship queerbaiting if there are already queer people/couples in the show, and representation of other diverse peoples (paraphrasing, please don't attack them). This is... kinda obviously not true? I mean, one of the best (worst for the audience) examples of queerbaiting is Sterek, which comes from a show with a Latin lead and at least a few queer side characters. Another good example is Supernatural, which does not have any main characters of color or queer characters (as far as I remember, and I'm not including Castiel because he was queer for like 5 seconds before dying), but has several POC and queer side characters, including some recurring characters like Charlie (and others, idk i don't watch spn sorry).
"But Zoe, those are different! 9-1-1 has main characters that are queer and POC!" This is true, but the importance of their queerness and/or race is rarely touched upon. Think about it: Hen and Karen get about 2 episodes per season that actually focuses on them and their relationship, and one of the first ones is literally Hen cheating. Not really fantastic representation. Also, like, queer people often flock together, so having more than one queer main character is not "unrealistic" or whatever the problem is.
Lastly, I want to talk about Buddie itself.
I don't really think it can be called full queerbaiting, because I think that has to go beyond the screen and include promotional footage (like Sterek) and cons (like Destiel), which I haven't seen any of. However, I am fairly new to the fandom, and only found out Oliver Stark is British like two months ago. So maybe there have been outside hints that could make Buddie queerbait if it doesn't become canon. Either way, there's definitely something there, and I don't appreciate the way outsiders have gaslit fandoms for several years into thinking they've just "put on shipping goggles" or something like that.
We all saw Eddie's entrance to the show, right? When "What A Man" starts playing as Buck slow-mo turns around to see Eddie half-naked? I don't think this ship is the end-all be-all of TV romance, but it's definitely got a lot of hints in there that were purposeful by the actors, directors, editors, and crew. If not queerbaiting, they have definitely participated in some queer-coding/romance-coding of this couple and we are not insane for noticing that.
ANYWAY
that's it, and I hope I didn't accidentally co-opt a discussion of a deeper topic, but I want other shippers (god I hate that word it sounds so juvenile) to know that we're not insane or seeing things no one else does.
thanks for reading and also all the fish!

What’s interesting to me about the Eddie - Ana - Buck - Taylor situation is the idea of permanence.
Because yes, this would have been the perfect episode to take ten seconds to solidify some depth to Eddie and Ana’s relationship, and they didn’t take it. The focus was mainly on Buck and Eddie.
And yes, Buck and Taylor kissed. And (unpopular opinion apparently), I thought it was well done. It was real. Was it smart of them? Realistically, probably not. But it was human to clutch each other closer during a state of fear and heightened emotion. I don’t think it was poor writing and a forced relationship. I think it was a very real way for them to react in the heat of things.
But nothing struck me as more important than the idea of transience vs. permanence.
With Eddie and Ana, we see the doctor answer Ana’s question. Which shows she’s been given some sort of official clearance to be there. Whether as an emergency contact or maybe permission given by his next of kin/emergency contact, we don’t know. But that shows that she’s currently important. In this moment. But when you talk about long-term plans, Buck is the one Eddie sees as a permanent fixture. Which you see with the fact that he hasn’t even considered switching guardianship upon his death to Ana instead of Buck. As far as Eddie is concerned, Ana hasn’t reached that point where he considers her a permanent fixture in he and Chris’ life. Even though she currently matters very much. Because if he were considering her as a true partner and co-parent, Buck might be on the list, but Ana would be the first one getting custody of Christopher.
That’s not to say she could never reach that status, but where we are in the story? She’s not a permanent fixture, and she isn’t viewed as one by Eddie either.
Buck and Taylor spent the last four episodes or so doing this push-pull thing where Buck would make a move and Taylor would step back and place a boundary. And then swept up in the emotions of the moment, she swept those boundaries aside. I’m glad she was the one to take the step because Buck not respecting the boundaries she had set would have been a whole different issue, but the fact of the matter is that whirlwind romances aren’t generally long-lasting. They’ve been solidifying their friendship for a while now, and showing that Taylor valued that over whatever short-term romance they might have. And there’s nothing that really signifies that this will be anything more than a period of growth on both of their parts. There’s nothing signifying they have a connection deep enough for a life partnership.
Which is a direct contrast to how they framed his relationship with Eddie. Eddie and Christopher are shown as being a focal part of Buck’s life. Buck fell apart over Eddie in a way we didn’t even see him fall apart over Maddie when Doug took her a few seasons back. That says a lot about Eddie’s importance. And it was just a given that he’d be the one to step up for Eddie’s son despite the fact that he’s not “technically” family. You’d think that would fall to Eddie’s grandmother or another family member. But no, Buck took on that responsibility because he considers that his responsibility. They’re his. In whatever way you want to frame it.
Now, none of this is to say that they’re not going to transition Ana and Taylor into permanent fixtures in the future. God knows I never know what the writers are up to.
But right now? There’s nothing showing that they’re here to stay or that they’ve reached that point of significance to either Buck or Eddie that Buck and Eddie quite obviously hold with each other.
And that’s where I’m at with it. They might build those relationships up going forward, but right now the Buck-Eddie-Chris dynamic is seen as something written in stone. It’s going nowhere.
Ana and Taylor? Not so much.

I wanted to do a fic rec list for buddie, but also I hate deciding things and I'm bad at writing pretty things about the fics I like. So I went through my roughly 200 ao3 buddie bookmarks, pulled out the ones that, as stated above, made my brain go !!!, and put them in alphabetical order.
There's 50 fics in total, so I broke it down to 5 more manageable posts of 10 fics each. This is post number 3. I hope you enjoy.
Part One | Part Two | Part Four | Part Five
i close my eyes (all the stars align) by @hattalove (T, 2k)
“Eddie Diaz,” she says, in a voice that makes Buck cower, “tell me this isn’t what it looks like.” “I don’t know what it looks like,” Eddie huffs. “My fucking eyes are closed.” “He didn’t see me!” Buck steps in. “And I didn’t see him either. We’re playing by the rules.” who would win? a centuries-old tradition that forbids you from seeing your spouse on your wedding day, or two silly firefighters in love?
i don't swim and you're not in love by @hattalove (T, 32k)
She turns to Eddie and says something else, but Buck is busy fighting the headrush he gets at the sound of Ana Flores calling Eddie and Christopher 'the boys'. Like they belong to her already. God, what’s wrong with him? What is this? or, eddie cooks, chris domesticates a slug, and buck tries to figure out why he hates his best friend's girlfriend. to everyone's immense shock and surprise, it goes badly.
I know you’re hurting (but so am I) by justhockey (NR, 4k)
Eddie understands better than maybe anyone else ever could, how it feels to have everything unravel in the palm of your hands. He knows frustration - he knows fury. He’s painfully familiar with that burning rage that crackles in the tips of your fingers, that makes your skin hot and chest tight, and makes you want to punch anyone that dares to even look at you. But that doesn’t give Chim the right to lay a damn hand on Buck.
I was late but I arrived by justhockey (NR, 5k)
Buck has people who love him, and that’s not going to change, even if Eddie isn’t one of those people anymore.
I’m gonna give all my secrets away by @an-optimist-prime, @tails89 (T, 2.5k)
“Truth or dare?” "Really?" “What? Would you rather play I spy?” Buck asks, rolling his eyes. “I spy something brown...surprise! It’s the shitty panelling in the elevator we’ve been trapped in for an hour.” - Or, the one where Buck and Eddie get trapped in an elevator during a blackout, and play truth or dare to pass the time.
in my heart i wanted more by @woodchoc-magnum (M, 47.5k)
Set post-Season 5, Episode 4 and 5 - in which Buck and Taylor's relationship is slowly crumbling, Eddie has some big realisations about his sexuality, and true feelings are revealed.
in silence, a train runs off its tracks by catching_paper_moons (T, 3k)
So 3 am at the firehouse finds Eddie the only one awake, his heart pounding too hard for him to actually relax. It’s not like he needs to, exactly; lord only knows how long he’s gone without sleep at this point, but now that he can’t hear Buck, Hen, and Ravi’s breathing, it’s too quiet, the lights down too low. He needs some sort of distraction. He wants to go to sleep. It’s just— Sleep doesn’t come very easily to Eddie these days. (aka Eddie and Buck try to talk)
in the arms of the ocean by @littlespooneven (T, 7k)
“Someone wanted to come say hi before we head home,” Eddie says, voice a little gravelly around the edges, and Buck can only imagine how worn out he must be by now. He has no idea what Eddie faced today but he can’t imagine it’s been much easier than anything Buck endured. Buck opens his mouth to say something but no words come out. Instead he just stares in awe as Eddie picks Chris up under his arms and deposits him onto the cot on Buck’s right side. Buck scrambles to put an arm around him to hold him in place but it’s not really necessary when Christopher immediately curls into him anyway. He tucks his face into the crook of Buck’s neck and mumbles out a tired but relieved, “You’re okay.” All the breath in Buck’s body rushes out of him at once at that and he wraps both arms around Christopher, pressing a kiss to the matted hair at the top of his head. “I’m so sorry,” he murmurs, voice hitching around the lump in his throat. “I’m so sorry I couldn’t find you, buddy.” * After the tsunami, Eddie takes Buck home.
keep them in your eyes by @archerincombat (G, 2k)
“Well I wasn’t going to bring Buck,” Chris replies, walking rapidly towards a bench overlooking the Pacific Ocean. “Though he took me to visit mom the other day. It’s like my trauma world tour.” “Chris-” “My therapist suggested it!” “Oh, that makes it better.” Chris grins. “Sorry, Dad,” he says, though he doesn’t sound all that sorry. “If it makes you feel better, I got the sarcasm from you too.”
This is mostly an Eddie and Christopher fic, and it's beautiful.
keep your eyes on the road by @evanbucxley (M, 4k)
Buck used to speed through yellow lights; now they’re his favorite part of the drive. -- or; a glimpse into buck and eddie’s developing relationship, told through ten moments stopped at a traffic light

If the final season episode is titled "Starting Over," or something similar because I forget, and it's making me worried.
1. What if it's Buck asking Taylor to "start over?" Everyone is back together and he's in a better frame of mind than he was when they first got together. Which... still makes me mad on how they did it. Dr. Wells anyone, or is it just me? However, I think this relationship is dead in the water after the whole Don*to wtf cheating kiss.
I hate repetitive storylines. Who's next? Athena cheating on Bobby with Detective Ransone?
2. Madney "starting over" because she was finally told by someone about him punching Buck? She visits dispatch and Eddie lets it slip? Hopefully it would ring alarm bells for Maddie because of Doug. They really need to bring up that punch to clear the air, but it looks like nope. That happens off screen.
3. What if it's Eddie approaching Ana and asking to "start over" because he's in a much better place now after "starting over" at the 118 and from therapy. He was attracted to her in the beginning. I don't see him coming back until that final episode of the season because of that title, but I could be wrong.
I can see them doing one or three to slam the lid closed on Buddie... for now or for forever? Especially since She-who-shall-not-be-named and Mr.-write-fanfiction are in control.
Hi Nonnie, you’re right about the ep title, it is ‘Starting Over’. OK, let’s tackle these one at a time!
1. Do I think it will be Buck asking Taylor to start over again? I might be wrong, but I think not. Every step of the way, 911 has shown that these two do NOT work as a couple, even before the cheating. Yes, Buck could ask Taylor that, but in order for US, the audience, to root for that, there has to be some foundation there that can work. I’m thinking of my personal fave use of this trope, in a gay themed movie called Heights (another one I watched in my endless quest to watch every gay media ever created), and the reason why it works is because when Jonathan asks Alec to start over, you know that this is the first time he’s being honest about who he is, about being attracted to and wanting a r/s with a man. That’s why you root for them despite the stuff that came before. But what indication do we have that Buck and Taylor would work even if they started over? Their issue isn’t the kiss, their issue is in all of the moments where as a couple, they don’t communicate, don’t know each other, don’t trust each other, don’t get each other and seem to only choose at this point to be together because the alternative seems worse to them. And that’s not about to magically change in the finale. So I’m not worried, I don’t think he’ll ask her for that. Again, I might be wrong, but I just don’t see how B/T can suddenly work when so far we’ve been repeatedly shown that fundamentally, not due to circumstances or outside pressure, they simply don’t.
2. I do assume Madney will be among those starting over in the finale, along with the team as a whole, finally being all back together. I agree, I wish we had Chim’s apology for the punch on screen, but for a moment there, I was concerned they wouldn’t have him apologize at all. As I said in other posts, I think the punch was Chim at his breaking point, not something characteristic of him in any way, and I was apprehensive that because of that, they might let it go. So I’m glad they made it clear the punch was something that he needed to apologize for, and that he did do this.
3. I have thought of the possibility of Eddie going to Ana to start over after he’s better, but... I frankly don’t see it either. Again, much like B/T, Eddie broke up with her because they were fundamentally not working. Did he think she’s pretty? Yes. And perfect on paper. Yet he wasn’t happy with her, to the degree that simply thoughts of commitment made him have panic attacks. How do you come back from that? I don’t think any couple can. He could have broken up with her for fear he’s so messed up that he wanted to protect her from it, or that he expected she would break up with him and he couldn’t stand the thought so he did it first, but nope. They made it clear that thinking of being with her long term stressed him out. By no means can they use therapy to just erase that.
I hope this eases your mind, Nonnie! IDK if Buddie will go canon, but I am pretty sure none of the above will be the nail in the coffin of that option! xoxox
(I got an influx of asks, I WILL answer all of them, but it might take a sec. If anyone wants to check whether I've already answered theirs or to read my replies, here's my ask tag. Thank you! xoxox)

Welcome to my Buddie Fic Rec List!
Since I read so many Buddie fics, and some of them are so good, I thought I’d share them in some handy lists. I’ll be posting them in different categories, and you will be able to find all the posts HERE.
Disclaimer: Always read the tags and warnings! Also, tastes differ. These are my personal favorites, which doesn’t mean they’ll automatically be yours of course.
If you want to reblog and add some of your own favorites that fit the category, please be my guest! I always love discovering new fics. I will also add new recs of my own whenever I stumble upon them.
One last thing: Please like and comment when you’ve had a nice read. It means so much to authors to hear your thoughts! And don’t hesitate to share this post and spread the love for these fics around!
Buddie Fic Rec: "Feelings Realization".
unfold me (tell me you love me), by extasiswings (@extasiswings) || 2399 words ||
Eddie follows the sound of running water to the kitchen. He stops in the doorway, leaning against the frame, and spends a moment just watching Buck scrub potatoes in the sink until the other man glances up and notices him.
“Hey,” Buck greets. “Chris is reading in his room, I’m just working on dinner. How was the date?”
God, I love you, Eddie thinks, and nearly has to bite his tongue to keep it to himself.
[Or: Eddie goes on a date and has some realizations about what he really wants.]
The Road To El Paso, by KeepOnSailing || 9604 words ||
Eddie takes a trip with Christopher to visit his parents (and the 126 team) following his recovery from the shooting, bringing Buck along for support/company. He is coming to terms with his former relationships and feelings he may or may not have for Buck.
Wrapped in Red, by Free (@somebodycall911onfox) || 10691 words ||
Taylor tells Buck that she loves him. Buck says it back. It takes him a while to realize that he didn't mean it.
when the evening comes, by markofalover (@markofalover) || 1882 words ||
“I don’t know, buddy,” Buck says, still slow, like his words are getting stuck to his teeth. “I don’t think that’d work.”
“Why not?” Eddie asks. He’s looking at him, brown eyes warm, always warm, but there’s a hint of challenge in them.
…Or, Chris makes a joke. Buck moves in.
***
I will be adding my own fics that fit the category, in case you want to read those too:
A New Day, by Finduilas || 2452 words ||
Written for the following Anon prompt on Tumblr: For the Buddies prompt : Chris acts nightmarish with Ana and Eddie overhears him when he says : "I don't like you because you are hurting my Bucky..." Then Eddie, oblivious idiot that he is, talks about it at the firehouse. Bobby tries to make him understand who he was speaking of when they had their heart-to-heart. Meanwhile Buck is simply trying to be there for Chris.
What if the love you deserve is love you never find?, by Finduilas || 1639 words ||
"I just want Eddie to call Christopher “our son” without even realizing it when talking about him and Buck and I want it to happen in front of other people."
First ficlet: Ana.
Please note this ficlet has Eddie and Ana on a date, but is ultimately a (pre-relationship) Buddie ficlet. There is no Ana hate in it though. (There is also no EddieAna kissing in it either, a little bit like in the show. ;) )
as long as I'm here as I am (so are you), by Finduilas || 2438 words ||
“Really?” Taylor asks, raising an eyebrow at Buck. She glances over at Eddie quickly, then back at Buck with a bewildered look on her face as she leans over onto the island. “Didn’t you guys ever do anything stupid at that age?”
“Plenty,” Buck says honestly, “But Christopher’s better than that.”
“He can make mistakes,” Eddie says, and Buck knows that it’s not as if Eddie thinks Christopher’s not allowed to mess up from time to time. “But I don’t want our son shoplifting and just thinking that’s alright or that there won’t be any consequences.”

am i the only one sick to the back fucking teeth of seeing people scream misogyny when someone dislikes ana or taylor? because theyre the literal only two characters i ever see people causing discourse over but nbody screams racism or homophobia if you dont like athena/karen/hen
like wtf is it w ana/taylor stans that if you so much as say theyre not interesting youre suddenly a misogynist who doesnt deserve to be in the fandom??
like im sorry ones a complete bitch and the other is so 2d shes like a sheet of paper but how am i supposed to like them when i have characters like maddie, athena, karen, hen, mrs lee, sue, may and the others??
misogyny is hating a woman because shes a woman not hating her because shes a bad fucking character
I debated answering this because ~discourse~, but what the hell, right? I saw a post today throwing Shannon's name in the mix along with the other two and once again I am here to say that unless you grew up with a parent like Shannon Diaz, you will not understand why her characterization 1) was accurate and 2) was necessary. Yes, the feel-good story would have been for Shannon to redeem herself and finally learn to be the mother Christopher deserves, but that's not reality. Not every child, never mind every disabled child, is blessed with a mother who is happy to care for them even though it's more work than they bargained for. My mother would BE Shannon Diaz if she followed through on her plans to leave. Instead, I deal with her resentment day in and day out. (And before anyone attacks me for openly discussing my ~trauma~, please understand I'm too damn old to be embarrassed about the life I was given. I didn't choose to be physically disabled. My mother, however, had a choice in how she handled my disability.) Moving onto T*ylor: I'm pretty certain 98% of the fandom "hating" on Taylor identifies as part of the LGBTQ+ community (I know, like, two straight gals who aren't here for her???), so please consider the source(s) of this alleged misogyny. Maybe, just maybe, we're tired of forced het romances because they're safer than the alternative? Maybe, just maybe, we don't like her setting boundaries twice (and getting praised for it!), only to be *shocked* Buck didn't chase after her? Maybe, just maybe, we would rather T*ylor's screen time be devoted to the characters who barely get exposure as is? Y'no...Karen? Michael? David? The LGBTQ+ rep y'all love to hype up as a reason we don't NEED canon!Buddie? I also prefer more Eddie and Christopher scenes over T*ylor's news reports and "detective work", thanks. A*a: People are allowed to not fuck with this one if the fact that she's being portrayed by a FAKE LATINA pisses them off. I don't have to fuck with her because she was purposely written as ableist - something I am all too familiar with growing up around able-bodied people. You want to talk about ableism? I WISH my mother's biggest concern was me riding a fucking skateboard. I didn't learn how to use utensils until I was in either fourth or fifth grade because my parents thought I would (accidentally) injure myself. They never taught me how to tie my shoes, I figured it out from somebody else. I've been told I am never going to make it on my own and that I'm "not trying hard enough". Asking for help with my hair is asking for a fight because "you should be able to do this". Things are placed out of my reach and then when I need to ask for help I end up doing so more than once because someone doesn't feel like getting up. I'm not saying any of this to gain sympathy or attention. I'm saying this to make people understand that for somebody like me it's not as simple as "moving on" from what was said - and the fact that the writers never addressed it, whereas they took the time to "fix" Eddie's cringe-worthy moments... food for thought. A*a is one example of what it's like to be raised by an ableist parent who doesn't see beyond their kid's "limitations". I'm not Tina. I'm Tina with CP. And, while I'm on the subject, doesn't it say something about what Eddie must think of his gf that she's only been with Christopher while he's around as well? He hasn't awarded her the same level of trust as his dudebro bestie, that's for sure. If YOU don't have a problem with the female characters on the show that does not make you superior. It simply means you have no connection to the way in which they were/are portrayed and therefore your experiences cannot influence your perception. Consider yourself lucky for that.

I'm kinda worried that Buck and Taylor won't break up because they really put a lot of focus on her this episode and hinted at a backstory with the article she was reading and she seems to be really messed up about something that happened in the past so if they break up then Buck would kinda look like a jerk for dumping her when she's already hurting. I'm just scared they are building her up in order to keep her around. Even though it seems like no one else on the show can even stand her (Ransone 🤝 Eddie). What would be the point to try to make up a sympathetic story for her that develops her as a character, that seems like it's meant to be the reason she does all those things that make her dislikable in the first place. As if to justify it and say that she's actually likeable, she's just been through a lot that makes her this way, please like her now. Maybe they are building her up now because they plan to keep her around and develop her as a new sort of main character on the show...but if that's the case then I really hope a breakup comes first. Maybe as a mutual decision, like she doesn't feel ready to commit to a relationship while she's still processing her past. I mean, they've made it a point to show that Buck doesn't trust her and doesn't feel like he can tell her anything because she might use him. He's very clearly not getting what he wants and needs out of being with her. And it's not her fault that they're incompatible to begin with. So unless the show really hates Buck and wants him to suffer in this relationship for the rest of time, a breakup is the only thing that makes sense. But I'm still worried.
What are your thoughts about it?
oof okay, there's a lot to unpack here!!
honestly, i really don't know what i'm supposed to think about buck and taylor and i haven't since s5 started. like, i know what i do think - i wish they'd stayed friends and i don't personally have any vested interest in their romantic relationship whatsoever - but i don't know what the show wants from me. in s1, even though i didn't ship buck and abby, i knew i was supposed to. i was supposed to be rooting for them romantically.
but everything about how they've played buck and taylor this season has confused me so much. because even the moments like 5x01 where people were immediately shouting conflict!!!! there's conflict!!!! i didn't really think there was??? i could see how you would read it that way but again, i wasn't sure that's how i was supposed to interpret it.
with regards to your worries about a breakup not happening, i just can't see them lasting long term and, if anything, this ep only cemented it further. for me it feels a bit like us getting our fill of ana in 4x13/5x01/5x02 only to break her and eddie up in 5x03. like, we saw more of her when eddie had lost interest in the relationship than we did when they first got together.
i wouldn't worry about buck seeming like an asshole for breaking up with her if/when we get the tragic backstory either just because. again, eddie could've been seen as an asshole with ana. in fact, buck calls him out on it and says it's not fair to her for eddie to settle for their relationship when he doesn't love her (ironically, and there's been a few great posts on this, buck seems like he's doing the same in his relationship with taylor. the "buck is taylor's abby" theory is definitely starting to seem possible) so i think if buck is the one to do the breaking up, it’ll probably be framed in a ‘it’s nobody’s fault sometimes life just happens that way’ kind of way.
ultimately, i just feel like if taylor is meant to be buck’s great love then Everything about this storyline should’ve been done differently. it should’ve been buck and abby or maddie and chimney or even bobby and athena (who arguably got less initial development but still blossomed once they were established). buck’s entire arc for the past 5 seasons has been about him searching for a love that he deserves. and i think it’s possible to do a story where he doesn’t get the fairytale love he imagined but the real thing is actually better so it’s okay. but this doesn’t feel like that. so to imagine this would be the culmination of that story when the rest of buck’s development has been so carefully crafted?? would be incredibly disappointing tbh.
and i don’t think that’s something they can flip on its head now almost halfway through the season, y’know?
(i also don’t think taylor will stick around once they do break up so i can’t see them setting her up as a main character unless they were going to prolong their relationship.)
overall, i’m slightly more convinced of the possibility of a breakup by 5x09/5x10 (though idk if they’d do it in the christmas ep??) now than i was when we got the ‘buck worries about his relationship with taylor’ synopsis the other week but i couldn’t say for certain it’ll end in 5a.
however i do think it will end one way or another. we just have to wait and see!

Honestly, I don't hate Ana (Taylor is a different story but we'll get to that later) I'm just not sure about her relationship with Eddie. Like you pointed out before, her way of talking to/about Christopher and her whole limiting of what he could do was a little...I'm not sure how to put into words how it made me feel. Then came the whole thing of Carla and her infamous quote and the relationship just seemed more shakey than before.
Taylor though... 👀 Again, like you said, she is quite derisive and for no good reason. Like I didn't like how they made Buck seem like he was pining after her and that she didn't even care for him. Friendship wise maybe they could work out (she doesn't seem like an asshole) but relationship wise (even without shipping Buddie) she's- I don't think she's good for Buck (and he deserves the world).
Also, I feel like their attraction was sort of forced (especially in the beginning). Buck went to thank her for not showing the whole clip and Bobby's high version and she said that her station stopped her. She had such little regard for the 118 because she wanted to 'be a reporter her whole life' and 'show the true story behind the people that save the city' and Buck calls her out on it and shows he's genuinely hurt, but her cameraman tells them to get a room? I'm sorry? Did I miss something? Like I'm sorry your dreams made you a shitty person.
I had to replay that scene to see if I actually did because what the fuck? Taylor admitted to wanting to hurt his family and air their secrets out just so that she could get a better job at her station and Buck's gonna wanna sleep with her?
Even while she was filming, she had little regard for them and while some of them wanted to talk and actually said really heartfelt and motivating things, Bobby didn't want. But all she could think about was her story.
Why does Buck like her again? Other than the fact that she's pretty and 'exciting'?
Sorry for the rant (though it could be longer but I hate typing on my phone🥴) I just really ha- dislike Taylor and sometimes Ana.
I've said basically everything I can say about Ana at this point without harping on the point. It's a bad match. Eddie's entire goal in life as we've seen it is to create a good life for his disabled son and his current girlfriend is ableist. It's not a good start or continuation for a relationship.
And then there's Taylor.
So here is my honest, possibly least popular opinion: I don't care about Taylor. I don't hate her. I don't stan her. I have...zero investment in the character. For a solid month after the finale aired, I had her both tag blocked and content blocked because I got so tired of scrolling my dash and seeing multiple posts in a row along the theme of "If you hate Taylor here's why you're wrong and also an awful person <3" followed immediately by "Here's everything wrong with loving Taylor" and so I just. Blocked all of it. Because my ideal amount of time spent thinking about Taylor Kelly is zero. Unfortunately, the show and fandom are determined that this is not to be.
I don't think any of her fans are running around being all "yes girlboss girlpower!!" about her actions and commentary about her desire to air the full tapes about Bobby at the end of Dosed (unless they also really hate Bobby, but I don't know any of the people who fall into that slice of venn diagram so I can't say). I recently rewatched the majority of season 2 for a fic and I also spent that entire storyline in Buck, Actually being like "Okay, so you keep saying you like her, Buck, but what, exactly, do you like about her/know about her other than she was going to use your dad for canon fodder?" And then she leaves him with his pants down in a parking lot and we do not see her for two seasons.
And with season 4 Taylor, I think part of the divisiveness comes from her change in character since season 2. For people who are inclined to like her, I think it's really easy to fill in the events that have led to character development, and for people who are disinclined to like her it's equally easy to be disgruntled and miffed about it because in many ways she comes across as an entirely different character. And then for people like me who aren't inclined in either direction, it's easy to be like "huh that was a sloppily executed relationship start they added that also contradicted Buck's character arc for the rest of the season."
But, y'know, it's fandom. There's always going to be a random side character who certain factions will cling to as the light of their lives, and there's always going to be a random side character who certain factions will hate always forever without question. It's just really annoying when it turns out to be the same character.

You do have valid points about some of the things in the 911 fandom fanfiction (like the blatant racism, the poorly concealed character assassination, ect) but also... Things like people having Buck call Athena Mom is literally harmless?
The 911 fandom is fucking rabid when it comes to fanfiction. Nothing is ever good enough. If its not 100% character accurate and realistic its a weird piece of shit that shouldn't be read. Fanfiction absolutely has to be this perfect, no-nuance, straight-from-canon content and frankly I'm sick of it.
And don't say that's an exaggeration, because your own posts repeatedly assassinate fanfiction for not being canonised. And often over stupidly small things like the Mom/Dad thing.
I call my best friend's Mom 'Mom.' She's a mother figure to me. She approves of it. My mother approves of it. Its a fucking moniker that presents a person's relationship and bond with another person. Its not that deep.
Let fanfic authors in the 911 fandom breathe, please. Do you know how fucking horrible it is looking through 911 tags and all you ever see is people bashing fanfic and edits and creators? The ratio of content praise vs content dragging is ridiculous and its not even over valid things fandom racism. Its stupid shit like someone deciding to go a little OOC and embrace a familial dynamic with Buck and Athena.
Literally get over yourself. Its pathetic.
well if you even bothered to read anything i said; i was specifically criticizing fic writers that have athena's only purpose in fics be to baby buck and treat him like a child, but go off i guess? yes, it is fucking weird when people write their relationship to be like that, because not only is it just not OOC, it's always done in a way that feels utterly demeaning to athena and her entire character! yes, it is that deep; when fic writers make it abundantly clear that the white man is the only character they're capable of writing in a nuanced and understanding way; while the other characters are reduced to racial and/or misogynistic stereotypes! eddie is the aggressive mexican man who drops a spanish word every other sentence, chim is a bully and an abuser; hen, athena and carla, the black women, are there to stroke buck's hair and call him 'baby'; maddie is either turned into buck's personal bodyguard, or is blamed for being a victim of domestic violence. ana was often written as an aggressive, evil woman; while taylor, a white woman, is written as buck's mean bi bestie. you know very well that what i said —while poking fun at athena being called 'mom' in fics—was talking about so much more than characters being OOC, so don't act deliberately obtuse.
also, i don't know where you're getting this idea that i regularly criticize content creators in this fandom. i have often defended them from the entitlement people have, both in private and on main; i hate how this fandom takes them for granted. but i will also not hesitate to call out the racism i see, for fear of hurting people's feelings.
i've said this before, and i'll say it again. if you feel this threatened and called out by POC in fandom talking about racism; you're simply telling on yourself. there's no reason for you to come and be this aggressive and rude in my inbox, acting as though i personally attacked you; if there wasn't any truth to what i was saying, with regards to you. so, it sounds like you, my dear friend, are the one who needs to get over yourself.
