It is very strange to me that there's this idea that open bigotry or otherwise abhorrent behavior becomes okay if the target is in some way acceptable.
Like ... bigotry towards or about people who are themselves awful, and/or powerful, and/or cringe, and/or older/younger, and/or public figures, and/or however you want to define them as acceptable targets, is still bigotry.
Your target may never hear what you say. But the people around you generally will. You're still adding to the bigotry that people witness and experience and which is just ... this miasma in the world.
I'm not saying there's no place for anger, confrontation, condemnation, harsh jokes, whatever—it's not that context never has any bearing on whether actions in general are right or wrong. But relying on bigotry to make your point is wrong without exception.

Upcoming Takarazuka/Great Ace Attorney Musical
Takarazuka Revue, a long-standing all-female theater troupe in Japan, was the first to do an adaptation of Ace Attorney in 2009, with their two musicals Ace Attorney: The Truth Reborn (a musical loosely based on Rise from the Ashes) and Ace Attorney 2: The Truth Reborn Again (a musical loosely based on Farewell my Turnabout). This was followed in 2013 by a Miles Edgeworth-centric musical involving time travel.
Now, ten years since Takarazuka’s last attempt to bring Ace Attorney to musical life, they’re returning with a fourth musical (link goes to official Capcom announcement in Japanese), this time based off of the Great Ace Attorney games.
Like the previous three musicals, this will be performed by Takarazuka’s Cosmos Troupe. It will also be directed by Suzuki Kei, who directed the other three Ace Attorney musicals. According to the official Takarazuka page, as of right now, they plan two runs in July and August 2023:
July 19th - July 26th 2023 at the Umeda Arts Theater in Osaka, Japan
August 1st - August 8th 2023 at the KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theater in Yokohama, Japan
So far, cast lists have not been announced, except that the actress Rukaze Hikaru will be playing the lead role of Ryunosuke Naruhodo, and judging by the synopsis, Susato Mikotoba and Herlock Sholmes will also be present.
A (google translated) synopsis from the Takarazuka page (with minor modifications + square bracket notes for clarity):
A stage adaptation of the blockbuster "Great Gyakuten Saiban" [Great Ace Attorney] featuring Ryunosuke Naruhodo, the ancestor of Ryuichi Naruhodo [Phoenix Wright]! Set in a courtroom, the game "Gyakuten Saiban" is a popular series that has sold more than 9.8 million copies in total. The unique characters and intricately crafted storylines have garnered tremendous support, and have been mixed in media such as movies and TV animations, not limited to games. In the Takarazuka Revue, after its first performance in Sora [Cosmos] Troupe in 2009, "Ace Attorney 2" was performed in the same year, and "Ace Attorney 3" was performed in 2013, both of which were very popular works. Ryunosuke Naruhodo, a college student who aspires to become a lawyer, goes from the Empire of Japan in the Meiji era to study abroad in the British Empire with the World Exposition just around the corner, in order to learn about the latest judicial system. Ryunosuke, who is involved in one difficult case after another, stands up for his client with judicial assistant Susato, but the great detective of the century, Sherlock Holmes, appears... From the famous line "There is an objection!"
From this synopsis, there is little information on what specific cases may be loosely adapted, or what other similarities the musical may share with the games.
To clarify for English-speaking AA fans, as I understand it, Takarazuka does not translate their plays, so any fans who are interested will have to either wait for fan subtitles or find a way to watch a recording (possibly dvd release, if they’ll do that for this one) without them.
I’ll try to update this post as new information is released. Please let me know if there is anything that I missed or is incorrect that you would like me to add.

despite being a theater fan basically since birth i am sooo bad at keeping track of actors because i simply do not care enough 99% of the time. if i can name more than one or two actors that were in any given show that's like the highest praise for me

The particular pain of going head over heals for a minor female character whose show doesn't consider her very attractive or important.

i am elated and overjoyed and so jazzed abt this tv show, do not get me wrong
that said: i am NOT enjoying this portrayal of sally jackson
#pjo tv adaptation#spoilers in tags#no shade to the actress!! the actress is great!!! a couple of the scenes with percy made me tear up!!!!!!#but....ugh i don't know#it's. hm.#it's making her the kind of whimsical to just like. sit in the rain on a fire escape and listen to olivia rodrigo(???)#instead of meeting her still in her work uniform#tired & exhausted but still ready to sit on the bed w percy#and ask him abt everything EXCEPT getting expelled#it's the way she talks to grover#when the book literally says that percy has NEVER heard her be stern before that moment#(also that she just like. argues back w gabe? the toning down of gabe is. hmmmmm. i think its doing her a disservice)#the fact that she doesn't get to say that she didn't want percy to go to camp half-blood?#& like. book sally has a core of steel that i feel like we just. haven't seen?#they made her argumentative but that's kinda the opposite?#also her conversation abt why she named percy perseus....#i LOVE that SHE thinks that but i hate that she says it to percy yknow???#at least in THAT moment#also. FASCINATED by the choice not to have the car get struck by lightning like. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm#also there's other things here in that like#i feel like they WAY toned down the class stuff w/ percy?#ugh now i'm just getting into other critiques. whatever#but i think those are the adaptational choices that are impacting her too!!#& casting just like. generic white woman#okay. no shade BUT#percy has always been latino to me so like.#generic white woman sally jackson is NOT doing it for me#i keep looking & her & saying who is that#& walker i can buy more bc the emotional resonances he's hitting more for me?#but sally is TRULY not the vibe

MAN I'm still so wound up about this but I have elected not to say anything to this person bc it like. doesn't REALLY matter in the grand scheme of things. it just hit such a specific nerve so I'm going to say it HERE and hopefully I can be normal again for the afternoon after getting it out of my system. anyway
the place that Alex holds in my heart is so specific and foundational to the very core of who I am at this point. there are other "celebrities I find attractive," sure, but that's not the function she serves to me. in the mythology of who I am as a person she's an essential and irreplaceable cornerstone. like... Alex was THE pivot point for me. THE catalyst of being able to recognize, accept, and embrace my romantic orientation. I have been so indelibly shaped by my feelings for and about her. I have spent the last eleven years of my life loving her so much that it has altered the way I create, the way I approach new situations, the way I view myself and the world around me. she represents a central aspect of my self-learning because she was an influential figure at an important time of my life.
she is, necessarily, the only figure who occupies that space for me. there is no equivalent. there is no equivalent.

Every time i think of fiding a fc to my ocs i give up after 1h lmao
Maybe i have an image of my ocs so specific that becomes hard to see them in people.
I admire the ones who find fcs to their characters after creating them and not have one in mind before lol

oh yeah st only got nominated for the outstanding drama show but ofc it lost to succession... still surprising how it wasnt nominated in other categories like writing though or even for performance. yellowjackets got nominated 2 times for writing, damn.
and ngl if it hadn't lost to succession it would've lost to like. literally anything else. i'm not saying that st sucks or anything but yk season 1 lost to the handmaid's tale season 2 lost to got even if it had been a successionless year they would've lost outstanding drama series to another show. and season 4 did win five emmys and was nominated for thirteen it just wasn't any of the big ones! (except outstanding drama like you said) and for perfomance...😭😭😭 remember how after the nominations dropped people were like sadie was So robbed etc and people were like maybe she'll get nominated next year for volume 2 :) well MAYBE she would've gotten a nomination if they had released both volumes in the same emmys year!

the naomi watts quote is a joke. it's clickhole
i had to search what clickhole meant lmao
to be completly honest with you, i was talking more about the people i know (or see everyday) who don't explain what sex is to their children than reacting to what she supposedly had said (i don't even know who she is tbh 💀). i just took the opportunity to do so in the tags of this post just because i had many thoughts about this lol
i know people who literally put their kids in front of animals breeding and told them that's what sex was 🥲
anyway! thank you for telling me anon, i can at least tag it correctly now, so people who know who she is won't believe it's an actual quote :]

You said you like sharing Team Rocket facts, sooo, what are some of your favourite facts that you don't get to share often or think not many people know? :D
Yam's Top 10 Team Rocket Fun Facts!
Jessie and James are both 25 years old
Jessie and James are NOT siblings (you'd be surprised how many people think they are). They have almost polar opposite backstories from each other.
James grew up rich but ran away from home at a young age because of all the pressure as well as his arranged marriage with Jessebelle (who looks exactly like Jessie funnily enough)
Jessie's mother, referred to as Miyamoto, was also a Team Rocket operative who worked directly under Giovanni's mother Madame Boss. However Miyamoto went MIA while on a mission looking for Mew and never came back, leaving Jessie to grow up in foster care
Jessie and James in English are named after the outlaw Jesse James which most people seem to know about. Buuut in Japanese, they're called Musashi and Kojiro, named after the famous swordsmen Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro. Musashi kills Kojiro so do with that what you will. Sub fun fact: Musashi and Kojiro's duel is referenced in Sun and Moon with Jessie battling Ash and using the sun to temporarily blind him and Pikachu before striking.
The Team Rocket trio are based off of the Time Skeletons from Time Bokan, who are probably the earliest version of the very specific trope "san-aku" (literally translated to three evil). The trope usually depicts one female leader and two bumbling men, one short and one tall. They also regularly build mechs/robots and beef with kids. In Sun in Moon, they DIRECTLY reference the Time Skeletons!
When the Johto series came to an end a decision had to be made on whether Misty or Team Rocket would leave the series. Head writer Takeshi Shudo fought really hard to keep Team Rocket (I think it's safe to say that they were his favorite characters). Seeing how Team Rocket stayed in the series till the very end, I think it's obvious to see what the end result of that decision was
The reason Jessie, in later seasons of Pokémon doesn't smack around James and Meowth as much/at all is because her voice actress, Megumi Hayashibara personally requested that the writers make her less violent. She felt it went against the "good natured villain" concept Takeshi Shudo originally had for them. On Hayashibara, Jessie's "failed nurse" backstory is based on Hayashibara's experience in trying to become a nurse.
James' love for sports and racing is often depicted in the show and is a reference to his VA, Shinichiro Miki's, love for cars and racing.
The reason Team Rocket crossdresses is literally just because the artists thought James looked better in a dress than Jessie did and ran with it

Propaganda
Eartha Kitt (Anna Lucasta, St. Louis Blues)—My friend and I have a saying: NOBODY is Eartha Kitt. A thousand have tried, and they've all come up empty and will continue to do so. Everyone knows her for something: from "Santa Baby" to Yzma in Emperor's New Groove to Catwoman to making Lady Bird Johnson cry for the Vietnam War. She was a master of comedy and sex, an extremely vocal activist, and she aged like fine wine... I honestly don't know what I can say about her that hasn't already been said, so I'll stick to linking all my propaganda. Like what else do you want from me. She was iconic at everything she ever did. Literally name another. How can anyone even think of her and not want to absolutely drown?
Maggie Smith (The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie)— Look, ok she's best known now for Downton Abbey and the Potter franchise, but the woman won an Oscar in 1969, so that makes her eligible in my oh so humble opinion. She starred opposite Olivier in her first major play role (which was filmed) and her wit and beauty was just the epitome of everything I wanted to be as a child
This is round 2 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Eartha Kitt:
Tumblr media
"A hot vintage woman who was not just known for her voice, beauty, poise, and presence, but also her unapologetic ways of speaking about how she was mistreated in the show business as a girl who grew up on cotton fields in South Carolina in the 1930s through the 1940s coming to Broadway first and then Hollywood."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Have you watched her sing?? Have you seen her face?? Have you heard her talk?? How could you not fall instantly in love. She makes me incoherent with how hot she is."
Tumblr media
"She can ACT she can SING she can speak FOUR LANGUAGES she is a GODDESS!!! Although she is (rightfully) remembered for her singing, TV appearances (Catwoman my beloved), and later film roles, her early appearances in film are no less impressive or noteworthy!! She’s an amazing actress with so much charisma in every role. She was also blacklisted from Hollywood for 10 years for criticizing the Johnson administration/Vietnam War, so. Iconic. Also Orson Welles apparently called her “the most exciting woman in the world.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"She had such a stunning, remarkable appearance, like she could tear you to shreds with just a glance- but the most undeniable part of her hotness was her voice, and it makes sense that it's what most people nowadays know her for. Nothing encapsulates the sheer magnetism of her singing better than this clip of her and Nat King Cole in St. Louis Blues, she pops in at 2:49. Also I know it's post-1970 but her song that was cut from Emperor's New Groove is likely to make you feel Feelings."
Tumblr media
Even with as racist as Hollywood was in the 1950s and 60s, Eartha Kitt STILL managed to have a thriving career. She also once had a threesome with Paul Newman and James Dean, and called out LBJ over the Vietnam War so hard that it made First Lady Johnson cry. Eartha Kitt was talented, sexy, and a total badass activist.
