gorgeous, very caring sister, strong duelist, and the only woman to ever make Seto Kaiba squirm

anyways. not only as mentioned above is she the first woman to make kaiba squirm, but she was by all means going to beat him if not for the millennium rod's millennium interference. yami marik admits that she's a strong duelist with a strategy that's been working for literal years-- and given that she's not like, a professional duelist, thats pretty impressive

she also recently got some really cool meta bumps and let me point out that an "ishizu deck" now includes obelisk the tormentor-- which we knew she had prior to giving it to kaiba, but i think it only solidifies my opinion that she very much could wield an Egyptian God Card, an exclusive little club for top tier duelists

as a character she presents herself with an amazing amount of poise and grace, shes compassionate and kind and stays with mai and serenity even though she only just met them. shes struggling through living the past 5 years of her life drowning in guilt for her family's tragedy just because she wanted to make her little brother happy and shadi is a fucking liar. shes foretold her own death and marches towards it grimly but with so much love in her heart. and even then shes 20 years old and holds an important position in the egyptian government that typically requires a doctorate degree AND has been dealing with mariks off-and-on bullshit entirely by her lonesome. she also likes to flex her fortunetelling a little which is awesome i think she should do that more that scene where she tells the guy exactly how the stele is being transported was so everything

speaking of shes got such an attitude. "is it your destiny to waste my time?" iconic. never seen before will never be seen again. watch the duel between her va and joeys its so fucking funny

shes excult. shes doesnt flinch in the face of god nor death. seto kaiba and yami marik respect her. shes so sad and so sweet and battle city couldnt have happened without her.

also her parallels with kaiba are what motivate kaiba to give yugi the card he needed to beat marik.

kaiba, in duelist kingdom, was ready to jump off a ledge if yugi didnt let him through to face pegasus while trying to save mokuba out of sheer desperation to save his little brother. he KNOWS what that dedication feels like and the iron kind of will you need to have to make that kind of gamble. isis is being so fucking legit with what shes saying and he respects that and her judgement enough to change his mind and not only watch the duel, but give yugi a card that eventually helps him win, even if he has no real confidence in the odds. but theres a CHANCE, which is the same thing he taught her when he beat her in a duel. the layers its her faith that moves him to act. which is so crazy

anyway vote isis shes my best friend forever and a real rep for all the 20 year olds who honest to god did not sign up for this bullshit

Aki Izayoi

An abuse victim who isn't the perfect passive figure but gets to work through her complicated feelings about power, agency, and family. Even with Yusei's help, she is the star of the show when she learns to control her powers and reconciles with her father, it is so fun that a ygo heroine gets to take such an antagonistic role bu not be shamed for her anger

please vote for my main girl, aki izayoi. aki was led to believe she was a monster from a young age by her father, who treated her powers like it made her unworthy of love. as a result, divine was able to swoop in and take advantage of aki's low self esteem. for years, aki believed herself unworthy of love and was molded into a living weapon at the hands of authority figures in her life. she was taken advantage of, and thus when she finally comes face to face with yusei, she refuses to believe he could provide her with unconditional friendship. who would want to be around a monster, after all?

aki also nearly beats yusei TWICE in a duel, bringing it down to a single turn difference. she comes toe to toe with him, and it truly is the result of who dueled better. she remains a fierce duelist, btw. the second season, aki gets her duel runner license, and immediately nearly beats the ass of a tournament winning turbo duelist - to the point where once again, a single card is the deciding factor. that's right: she nearly won. if not for a single trap card, aki izayoi would've won.

Indignation.

That's what Mia feels now.

She has a hard time believing what she sees, but unfortunately it is real.

They backstabbed her in front of miles of people.

It wasn't until she arrived in Argentina that she found out about their tweets, all thanks to Anto, who had found out from Jorgelina Cardoso, Di Maria's wife.

After Mia found out, the players of the Argentina team found out too, Lio told them what happened after Anto told him.

Most are completely outraged by the audacity of her brother-in-law and his wife to make such comments.

All of them are still euphoric for having become world champions less than 2 days ago, and even more so now that they are waiting in Ezeiza to celebrate with the Argentines at the Obelisk.

So right now they do and say things that they wouldn't do at another time.

And Mia too.

Will she regret of this? Yeah.

Does she care now? No.

Obviously people suspect that the tweets are for Melissa and Jirès (especially those of Enzo and Julián).

If Kylian and Mia's names was a trend before, now there are even newspaper articles speculating what happened between them.

And as if that weren't enough, now she has his boyfriend's fans attacking her on twitter, just like when he said he's dating her.

Jirès even had the audacity to reply to her tweet.

Mia knows she were wrong a lot, but is all that necessary?

It's okay that they're mad at her and she understand it. But why increase the hate she is getting?

Why are they treating her like this if two days ago they had dinner with her and told her how grateful they are to have her in their lives?

Did they lie to her or were her attitudes so bad that they changed their opinion drastically?

Even if it hurts Mia keeps seeing the tweets out there about all the drama.

Wonderful.

Now they are relating the songs of her favorite singer with her love dramas.

THEY EVEN MAKE A PLAYLIST. (it's real btw)

Mia lets out a laugh when she saw the songs they chose to "cry over your divorce".

At least they are not criticizing her or judging her actions.

It doesn't make Mia feels better, but she doesn't feel worse. That's okay.

She wants to believe that's okay.

Mia arrives at her father's house hours after arriving in Argentina.

Anto insisted so much that she stays with her and the children but Mia refused, she needs to talk to her dad, she miss him so much.

Mia knocks on the door of the house while she sees the Argentine flag hanging.

Her father opens the door for her in a matter of seconds and when he sees her he smiles and hugs her.

Mia smiled slightly as she felt his arms around her.

It feels good to hug him again. And that he is the one who took the initiative makes her happy.

Although deep down in her heart she knows that he is hugging her because Argentina won the World Cup and not because she came home after 5 years.

He invites her in and she enter his house.

Everything in the house was the same as when she left, but it felt different.

—Sentate si querés (Sit down if you want) –he says pointing to the couch in front of Mia.

She nods and sit back watching him do the same.

There is an awkward silence between the two of them until Mia speak.

—Y... ¿cómo andás? (So... how are you?) –her father turns to look at her and smiles widely.

He's going to talk about football.

—Estoy re bien, hija. Me siento tan feliz, nunca me había sentido así en mi vida, te lo juro. (I'm fine, daughter. I feel so happy, I have never felt like this in my life, I swear.)

He doesn't have to swear for Mia to believe him, she knows he's not lying. He was never this happy.

—Qué alegría, pa. (What a joy, dad) –she smiles slightly not knowing what else to say.

Mia wish she were as happy as her dad, but she can't knowing what she did.

She can't get Kylian out of her mind and how he must be now, a few hours away from his birthday.

She knows she have to explain everything to him but she doesn't have the courage to do it.

What excuse could she make for having abandoned him after not having achieved what he dreamed of all his life?

Mia comes back to reality when she feels her dad's touch on her shoulder.

—¿Eh? ¿Qué pasó, pa? ¿Me dijiste algo? (What happened, dad? Did you say something?)

She hears her dad laugh and sees how he shakes his head.

—Te pregunté qué dice tu noviecito por haber perdido (I asked you what "that guy" you're dating thinks about losing) –a mocking smile appears on his face.

"That guy you're dating"? Is that the way he intends to name her boyfriend?

—No sé, todavía no hablé con él. (I don't, I didn't talk with him yet).

—¿No quiere hablar con vos todavía después de haber perdido? Qué idiota. ¿Cómo se llama? ¿Kyle? ¿Kylan? (He doesn't want to talk to you after losing? What a idiot. What's his name? Kyle? Kylan?)

The mocking smile doesn't leave her father's face and that can't bother Mia anymore.

He doesn't even know his name.

—No es ningún idiota y su nombre es Kylian. Me sorprende que no sepas el nombre de mi novio, con quien estoy hace 4 años. (He's not an idiot and his name is Kylian. I'm surprised you don't know the name of the guy I've been in a relationship with for 4 years.)

Her father laughs mocking Mia's words.

Mia frowns. He's acting like her boyfriend hasn't hattrick or won a world cup yet.

He's trying to humiliate Kylian and she is not going to allow it.

—Te recuerdo que "ese perdedor" ya ganó un mundial y en su primer intento, y también casi gana su segundo mundial por su cuenta (I remind you that "that loser" has already won a World Cup and in his first attempt, and he also almost won his second World Cup on his own).

Now her father is the one who frowns, surprised by her words.

—Dejá de defender a ese tarado, ese chico no vale la pena, te lo dije millones de veces. Estás haciendo lo mismo que hiciste en 2018. (Stop defending that dumb guy, that boy is not worth it, I told you millions of times. You're doing the same thing you did in 2018.)

Mia takes a deep breath trying to calm down, what is happening cannot be real.

—Te hacías la que querías que ganáramos nosotros para que acá en los medios de comunicación no te dijeran nada, pero seguramente querías que gane ese estúpido que tenés por novio. Mia can't believe what she is hearing.

That was the last straw.

Mia feels her dad's stunned look and her let out a sarcastic laugh.

Her dad gets up from the couch completely angry.

Mia sighed completely frustrated, he doesn't get it.

Obviously he doesn't get it.

—Ya sé y te lo agradezco. Pero siempre hubo algo más importante que yo, no te importaba qué pasaba conmigo ni nada, nunca fui tu prioridad (I know and thank you for that. But there was always something more important than me, you didn't care what happened to me or anything, I was never your priority).

She feels how a lump forms in her throat and tears appear in her eyes.

Her father keeps glaring at her in front of her, as if she just insulted him.

—Siempre había un partido más importante que mi cumpleaños, una práctica más importante que mi graduación. Cuando nací mamá me dijo que te quejaste porque tenías que jugar un partido ese fin de semana y no ibas a poder por tener que cuidarme a mí. Y tenés el descaro de venir a advertirme de Kylian. When I was born, mom told me that you complained because you had to play a game that weekend and you couldn't make it because you had to take care of me. Her father does not take his eyes off her.

—Bueno, y decime entonces, ¿dónde está tu noviecito ahora? ¿Te buscó o algo por lo menos o no le importas lo suficiente como para querer saber dónde estás? (Well, and tell me then, where is your boyfriend now? Did he look for you or something at least or does he not care enough to want to know where you are?).

That hurt Mia.

Kylian hasn't called her.

But she didn't call him either and she should have.

There isn't a single hint of regret on his face, her father looks at her seriously, as if telling her that if he had to do it again, he would.

Mia remember Hiba's words to her during the match.

"You're wearing Kylian's jersey and sitting next to his family as you clap for the enemy."

This whole situation is so similar to 2018 but feels so different.

—Kylian necesitaba mi apoyo y estuve ahí para él. (Kylian needed my support and I was there for him).

Her father laughs sarcastically.

—¿Y por qué estás acá conmigo y no con él? Si él tanto te necesita (And why are you here with me and not with him? If he needs you so much).

Mia looks at her dad and then at her bags.

He's right, for the first time since she were born.

Why is she there with him if the one who really deserves to talk to her is Kylian?

Why did she think her dad would change this time?

Why is she there with him and not with Kylian? How could she get so carried away?

Mia takes her bags under the stupefied look of her dad and take one last look at his house.

The walls still have the same photos of her dad when he played football, it makes Mia a little sad to remember when she asked him why he hasn't photos of her there.

"It's just that I don't care enough about you".

After saying it, he laughed, implying that it was a joke.

Mia opens the door and walk out of her dad's house.

Maybe it wasn't after all.

Tag Duel bios are so funny because they include so much dumbass trivia and a whole section on each character's love life for some reason? Trivia detailed below because it's SO funny.

(From Tag Force 2)

Judai: Apparently not only is Judai really disinterested in girls but no girl has ever hit on him before which is why Judai finds Rei scary ("It will be interesting to see how Jaden reacts to Blair Flannigan, who becomes really infatuated with him. No one like that has been around him before.") It's stated he's happy to eat everything. Not anything. Everything. Judai is an unstoppable gluttonous machine.

Sho: Honestly the funniest entry by far. Someone on this writing team just wants Sho to SUFFER and its lowkey hilarious. This kid exists to be in pain. Apparently he "tends to fall in love very easily. On top of that, he cares quite a lot about looks, making things even more difficult for himself." His favourite food is shrimp but can't stand spicy food. I don't know if this is a direct translation or a dub gag but apparently he changes his glasses on special occasions but nobody ever notices (lol)

Asuka: Asuka's crush on Judai is described as a mystery which is interesting. Apparently Asuka doesn't even know she has a crush on Judai which is so funny, I love you girl. Seeing Rei flirt with Judai apparently puts her in a bad mood. Apparently if she was to look for a partner, it would be someone who can put her mind at ease. ("More than maybe anything else, she needs a partner to give her peace of mind if they really want to support her") The bio makes a point of speculating whether or not she's good at cooking since Judai is Duel Academy's hungriest guy. She likes sweets! And healthy food and dislikes stuff with strong smells.

Manjoume: His bio is so funny. Like. So funny. The first paragraph basically calls him a tsundere (true). Canon use of bad language (whether or not this is cursing or just general Manjoume rudeness - LET HIM SAY FUCK!!!) He's described as being obsessed with Asuka - although not as infatuated as he used to be. Dude does NOT eat his veggies!!! He likes expensive food and hates vegetables!!! He is NOT growing big and strong!!!

Kenzan: Kenzan bio is really just contributing to sweet kid propaganda. I am a Kenzan fan and apologist he is one of my favourite characters. "Hassleberry stands out at Duel Academy due to his very muscular physique. Although he's probably very good in a fight, he's by no means a violent person. In fact, he's usually very kind and generous." YOU BET!!!! KENZAN IS A SWEETHEART!!! KENZAN NO.1 IN THE WORLD!!! He's apparently pretty fashionable, as on top of the bio rehashing that he modified his own uniform, it mentions that he would probably do the same to the Obelisk Blue Uniform. Which is interesting!!! Fun headcanon material! Apparently he has no dislikes but his favourite food is fish (another fishing enjoyer too)

Edo: This bio was the worst victim of dub translations as it reiterates the dub version where his father is kidnapped and not like dead LMAO. Other than that tho? Apparently he doesn't really show interest in romance since he was too busy hunting for revenge but now that it's been settled "Aster finally has time to look for love. It'll be really exciting to see he goes for it or not." According to the bio he's considered good looking in universe. His favourite food is steak and other meats.

Rei: Apparently Manjoume's entire room was just turned into a Red Girl's Dorm. Which is tbh. Hilarious. Not only did he get evicted by a toddler but his entire room that he stole his brother's credit card for was turned into a girls only space lmao. Apparently Rei is actually one of the best at dueling among the entirety of the first years (real I feel like people sleep on Rei's dueling abilities sometimes since she's. Yknow. Like that.) She likes sweet and spicy food.

Johan: Finally. Weirdo Johan propaganda. He's described as someone who's thoughtful but frank and says the craziest weirdest shit sometimes. His whole bio paints him as someone who's very composed but can be reckless or impulsive when he's in the heat of the moment or excited. Incredibly funny how the bio claims "Nobody knows what kind of girl he likes. If the right young lady does come on the scene though, we wonder if the Crystal Beasts will call a family meeting..." (LMAO.) His favourite food is... Bread stuffed with various unusual fillings. You know this guy makes the WORST, WEIRDEST sandwiches known to man.

Jim: interestingly, despite the game referring to Karen as Karen in Jim's dialogue, the bio calls her Shirely. More reasons why changing the name for the damn crocodile was so silly. We do not information about Jim's love life or favourite food in his bio :(

O'Brien: Not much is said about the non-Johan transfer students. Like. Nothing except information you could find the anime. Interestingly enough though, O'Brien likes cola and junk food.

Misawa: One paragraph. Mf gets one paragraph in his bio. Is described as having a good personality but isn't treated well by his peers. (I wonder why.)

Fubuki: "ALL THE WOMEN FLOCK TO HIM WHEN HE APPEARS!!!!" His bio also reiterates his friendship with Ryo and questions what it's like since "They seem like polar opposites"

Momoe and Junko have bios too!!! Although they're mostly described as growing apart a little from Asuka :( Although apparently Momoe hangs out with Judai's clique a lot. Junko on the other hand is influenced mostly by what Momoe does.

I just wanted to let you know that The Obelisk Gate has long been my favourite book of the trilogy and I think it's honestly one of the best books ever. You made me feel things and care so deeply that it stunned me. And I loved learning about every detail in the world.

Aww, thank you! I don't really have "favorite books to write," because I basically love all of them while I'm writing them (I have to, or I won't write them). But TOG was the one that flowed most easily, probably it's the one where Essun turned from survivalist to revolutionary. Glad to hear that speaks to a lot of folks!

notes & thoughts i had when i was reading this book ;-3 (its kinda disjointed and doesn't read well, there were just things scrawled when reading. idk i might write it up properly one day xx).

-Clinically obsessed with Neil Gaiman's 1994 'The Tragical Comedy or Comical Tragedy of Mr. Punch' and yes i am incredibly biased, and yes it is because i'm living away from pompey right now, and i miss my ghost adventures, and fratton rd subway.

-Its just such a nostalgic, and fun read. Mckeans art is so vivid, its like something walked straight out of my mind and onto the page, its really a graphic novel that properly exploits the medium and captivates on every page.

-As someone who has personally beefed with the descendants of these swans, i can tell you for a fact that this still stands true - they will break your arm, and not only that, they will peck into ur stomach and pluck out ur intestines. Apart from one swan who has arthritis, and is fed medicine in the evenings by an unnamed local, he is probably too busy eating his medicines.

-Reading all these passages written in 1994, almost exactly 30 years ago, set even further back into the late sixties, and seeing such relatable anecdotes. it's hopeful. Pompey stays Pompey forever.

And then you're hit with bits like this:

-And I'm reminded of the bridge centre bookshop losing the war against the council, the privatising of the secret garden, commercial road - the ghost town. And subway, and rowans, and London rd dying. Moorhouse becoming a newsagents, becoming a house.

-And then even before me, (mandatory obelisk mention), tricorn, charlotte st. The shadows of the past. What becomes of the time capsule in the bridge, when there is no bridge? But then in the same way theres development. Gunwharf, The spinnaker, The Mary Rose Museum.

-But it's all the superficial stuff - the tourist attractions. And it's all the heart and soul that get left to rot.

-I love this graphic novel because it's alive. and its mean. an affair, a pregnancy, forced abortion by beating a woman with planks of wood, disguised in cloudy memories and that slight childhood hope to mask it. to retell it again and again until the story turns out different this time.

-And there's this house, and its my childhood home. its the home of everyone i've ever befriended, and ever went to school with. And I'm reminded of when i used to see Punch and Judy shows over in St James' Dog park for picnic on the green.

-And one year, after the show, after the ice lollies, and after the raffle, my friend and i walked home, past all the shops, and at the end of my street was a great plume of smoke, and crinkle chip was burning down. We stood across the road and watched it burn.

Crinkle chip survived - but not as crinkle chip. It changed, it became Crispy Cod. But the foods the same. the important stuff. idk, i hate everything closing, its gone, and likely never coming back. But i still care, and i think that's the important part. that it mattered to me once upon a time (second mandatory obelisk mention in brackets so i don't waffle on about the obelisk).

-the story of punch and judy is told and retold by so many. as life here is lived by so many, but in many ways the same life. with many of the same characters and set pieces.

-the tale really articulates the frustration, the whimsy, the worry, and the awareness of childhood. living in a dream-like world, only in that none of your questions ever get answered. fantasy from boredom, fear, and confusion. the world is new, its your first time here and everyone just expects you to know whats real and whats not. That feeling of being looked over, of raising yourself because adults lie, cry, and run away from questions.

-This lamppost is real - so are the lights. i know exactly where this is and what they look like at every time of day.

-I love puppets, i love making them, buying them, studying them. This book reads like a love letter. But one written to a love never indulged. a love letter written and then kept in a box in the attic. The book feels like everything we want to say but don't. in the real world there's the story following the boy and his grandfather, and in the magical, theres the denial to let the self wear the puppet. nothing ever comes to fruition. nothing stays long enough to have the time to tell it how you felt, to express the grief. at the end theres a moment where the narrator just might wear mr punch. but theres not enough time to rationalise, to explain. its not the same mr punch anyway.

-its a scene that reminded me that sometimes we never get to do the things we desire because its too late. like trick-or-treating. if you dont do it as a kid you never will. and it sucks. and we dont get to go back.

-i should've bought all those Anne Rice books from the Bridge when i had the chance. but its gone now. and i won't.

-everything goes. but the memories remain, spectres to be engaged with, and in that its not really gone. The hearts arent gone, because they are here in this book. and so is the grandfather, and so is pompey.

-i should've written more notes about the art. The combination of photos and drawings portrays memories in such a beautiful and disorienting way. its distressing, and memorable. the way some things are emphasised by the photos, Punch and Judy, and the grandfather, while other memories are more obscure sketches, like the pier and the houses. it reads like a Cecilia Condit film scary and fragmented and young, or Jan Svankmajer's (my birthday twin xx) Jabberwocky short film.

-“Everybody dies but Mister Punch, and he has only the life he steals from others”

after reading the book, and spell-checking my notes. i also read this companion article by Jennifer K . Cox 'From Stage to Page: Adaptation as Survival in Neil Gaiman’s Mr. Punch' that i would like to share highlights from;

-Forbidden knowledge, portrayed as the magic of puppetry, parallels the narrator’s traumatic childhood memories; the adaptations to his memories have allowed him to survive, even if they obscure the truth of his past.

-“The path of memory is neither straight nor safe,” - Gaiman

-'In some sense, telling a story makes it happen again' - Schank (eek! i love this, it fits with the ethos of the graphic novel itself being that things change but that doesn't mean you can't return to how it was in story and memory).

-'As inanimate objects that rely on human hands to give them life, puppets represent a physical “link with the dead, with the realm of the uncanny, the threshold realm of things unknown or repressed” - Gross (sums up how i feel when i make my frog puppet dance to Modern Talking).

-“Tolkien’s view was that the myth-making imagination always tends toward truth rather than lies; that fantastic stories lead toward a genuine understanding of the conditions of existence” - Attebery

-Theatre historian John Bell describes puppets as “performing objects” and suggests that people manipulate them “in order to show us how parts of the…material world can be animated by humans. [..] that our playing with objects allows

us to come to terms with death”

-this adapted work is by and for adults. (i dont know if i particularly agree with this statement. i think kids should read tough and scary stories. Mr Punch provides a great framework for exploring ones own anguish with the world in a way thats relatable and readable. with sections feeling specifically catered towards kids. 'adults lie', 'i should've written this in blood' and the mystical views on death. Yes, they have a nostalgia factor for adult readers, but they are childish thoughts, relatable to child readers. Kids deserve thoughtful and dark stories that challenge them, that haunt them).

-For the lower classes during the eighteenth century, divorce was improbable, public hangings were employed to discourage crime, and a healthy Puritan work ethic threatened bodily harm, while a poor work ethic threatened eternal damnation; Punch thumbed his rather large nose at each of these oppressive institutions

-the narrator resist picking up the puppet for one of two reasons: because the knowledge will destroy the magic of puppetry, and if the audience knows how the magic works the genre of puppet theatre ceases to function, or because he knows wearing the puppet means he must then become Punch

So, a while back i wrote some notes for a fanfic idea that I had, about Kaiba adopting Jaden when he was very little; there is a lot of fanart about it and a few fanfics too, but a lot of them focused on ships i don't care a lot about so i wanted to write my own take on it... the only problem being that i haven't watched a lot of GX yet, so I didn't feel that confident on writing it, also don't really have a lot of free time.

So i'm posting my notes on it here! Maybe i finish it someday, i don't know, but here it is:

Plot: Jaden Yuki is actually Seto Kaiba’s adopted son, probably named Jaden Kaiba. His biological parents died when he was very young, and Kaiba at the time wanted to adopt a child (he would not admit it out loud, but he was feeling a bit lonely after Mokuba grew up and started to study a lot more and go out with friends, and so decided to adopt someone).

His personality is still pretty similar to the original, very cheery, lazy and childish, but a little smarter since he studied a lot more when he was younger (not a lot though…).

His relationship with his father is a little… complicated. His father clearly loves him, and wants to protect Jaden of any problem that could happen. Jaden also loves his father, and thinks that he is super cool and talented. But Kaiba can be quite clueless about people’s emotions and needs sometimes, and Jaden is pretty reckless and energetic in a way that frustrates his father quite often.

He also wants him to inherit KaibaCorp one day, something that Jaden really does not want to do (he finds this kind of job very boring) and instead wants to become a professional duelist, and become the next king of games. I imagine that the stuff with Yubel happening with him during his childhood too, and I can’t imagine that Seto would want him to spend a lot of his time dueling after all that.

He met Yugi and friends quite a few times, usually on his birthdays. Kaiba did not invite them, of course, but Mokuba wanted the closest thing he had to friends to meet his son. Jaden loves Joey and Yugi, and imitates them a lot, something that annoys his father quite a bit.

(BTW, Yugi has retired from dueling, and now works making games and in his grandfather’s gameshop. He works for KaibaCorp, and can give advice to Kaiba and Mokuba on how to deal with some of Jaden’s emotions sometimes.)

Besides Yugi’s friends, he also probably met Pegasus before (though I doubt that his father ever told him about the bad things he did in the past), as well as Zigfried and Chazz’s brothers. In fact he probably met Chazz when he was younger, but he would not recognize Jaden now.

That’s because Jaden would not be recognizable as Kaiba’s son for the average person; for one, Kaiba decided to not put the spotlight on his son a lot, especially after his childhood, mostly by the insistence of Mokuba to give him a better life as a teen and also stop him from getting kidnapped a lot. He also usually changes Jaden’s hair with gel when they are together, so people won't really know him by his natural “Kuriboh hair” look.

He ends up going to Duel Academy after fighting with his father about his future, with him initially not wanting his son to go; he creates a fake last name (Yuki, inspired by Yugi) and never tells his friends, other students or teachers about the fact that Seto Kaiba is his father (maybe Shepard knows about it, Crowler definitely does not); his father also does not know initially, but Jaden tells him pretty early on and he begrudgingly accepts it. He calls his father on the phone sometimes, probably lies about being in Obelisk Blue. (maybe his father learns the truth later on, won't tell Jaden though.)

That means that when he helps people with their family problems (Syrus, Chumley, Chazz, Alexis… a lot of people actually) it feels very strange for him; he does not know how to solve the problems with his own father, and just wants to run away from his problems with him.

Eventually i guess Kaiba would finally visit his own school and finally discuss things with Jaden face to face, probably the two would fight about his choices for his future and the fact he's in Slifer. Jaden's friends would probaby be shocked to say the least

plot summary: Kibutsuji Muzan has finally decided to expand his empire, and the way he intends to do so is by running for the highest political position. With you, his darling wife, at his side, he believes he can achieve and have everything the world has to offer. He is, after all, the Phoenix of Phario.

writer's notes: so! this is one of the fics i'd like to share with you all. i decided to share the prologue now, but i won't likely update till i finish invisible strings. Rules and Roses will take place in a modern setting and in a modern civilization. I've always wanted to write a fanfic dedicated to Muzan because I always find his character intriguing and I want to see my take on his character. Bear in mind that I will stray slightly away from his usual demeanor from the canon story, but don't worry, his main points will still be there. I have a specific route in mind for this story, so kindly bear with me. Do share your comments and feedback too. I would love to see your inputs. They will surely motivate me to write more. Classical, soothing music continued to play in the room as you sat prettily in your high chair and your stylist continued to style you up for today's grand occasion. After dodging the million dollar question so many times, Kibutsuji Muzan has finally decided to formally announce his presidential candidacy for the upcoming presidential elections.

Hoards of people with big cameras, as well as ordinary citizens of Phario, have continued to flock to the main entrance of the Obelisk Kibutsuji as they wait for the CEO of the most prestigious corporation in Areswood to take his place at the podium.

People generally dislike people who have no expertise or any semblance of political history but dare to run for any office because they believe such people are usually up to no good.

Muzan, on the other hand, was able to win the hearts of his compatriots. Everyone was in awe of the man's ability to rise from the ashes since he came from scraps and eventually made his way to the top.

They sincerely believe that a man like Muzan would be an excellent leader because he knows the heart and wishes of the people better than anyone else. Having you as his wife, Phario's most renowned ice skater and ballerina, who has made her nation proud by bringing gold after gold every time you compete in the Olympics, is just a bonus.

One that is extremely valuable.

You are, without a doubt, one of your country's greatest treasures.

Then again, you're the daughter of two legendary athletes, so it's only natural that you're good at what you do.

The fruit truly doesn't fall far from the tree, no?

Regardless of the fact that today is a special day for you two, Muzan is currently meeting with some of his overseas investors. He arrived at the arena much earlier than you, allowing him to get his hair and makeup done. He insisted on you taking your time because you were exhausted from yesterday's schedule. You've just returned from a charity expedition in the countryside.

Another quality that everyone in Phario reveres about you is that you are not just an exceptional athlete but also a philanthropist. Because of your parents, you have been exposed to social work since you were a child, and as you have grown older, you have developed an interest in helping others. It's in your nature to be so compassionate and caring.

Despite his desire to concentrate entirely on today's event, he had already promised to give them the time of day and speak with them.

That's exactly the type of man Muzan is. He is headstrong, incredibly intelligent, unfailingly truthful, and always honors his commitments. He might be impatient and hot-headed at times, but he's a wonderful person overall.

Unbeknownst to the general public, you two have known each other since high school. When you first met, he was a year older than you, so he was a senior and you were a junior.

You met him during a school event wherein you performed in front of the whole student body. Muzan fell in love with you the moment he saw you dance so gracefully on stage, but it took him a while to approach you. Because you come from a renowned family, he assumed you wouldn't dare to give a commoner like him the time of day.

He was adamant about that until you approached him.

It didn't happen on a special day or anything; it just happened on a rainy Thursday. It was after school hours and he was about to go home when you sheepishly asked him if you could share umbrellas because you'd forgotten your own.

That was the beginning of your friendship.

Muzan was pleasantly delighted to learn that, despite your illustrious background, you were really modest and so lovely. He was smitten every time you looked at him, and luckily for him, the feeling was mutual. You admire his enthusiasm and tenacity.

Every time he would share his dreams with you, his ruby eyes would twinkle, and you found yourself falling deeper and faster for him. It doesn't help that every time you two meet at the school grounds, he looks dashingly handsome.

As you were making a name for yourselves, it didn't take long for the public to fall in love with you two.

Everyone adored you to the point that you two have been branded as the embodiment of regality. Adults would wish their children to grow up like you two, while youngsters would desire to meet somebody like you or Muzan.

Admiring someone to the point of idolatry isn't exactly your thing, but you can't help but feel flattered from time to time. Who wouldn't want to be seen as a role model for young girls? In today's society, you're like a contemporary queen who is adorned by her subjects.

A few moments passed, and the stylist was finally done with your hair and make up, and you looked absolutely gorgeous.

You thanked her and motioned for her to have lunch as she had been working for three hours straight, and while you were admiring your stylist's work, an arm wrapped around your waist, making you jump a little.

When you looked at Muzan with wide eyes, he chuckled lovingly.

"You scared me!"

"I'm sorry, my love. You look beautiful though."

"Really?" you said, your face flushed.

He was about to agree when he abruptly stopped mid sentence and said, "Wait," then went for your earrings and took them off, leaving you perplexed.

"Dear, what are you doing?"

He didn't say anything and instead grabbed for the pearl earrings, which he neatly placed in your ear, saying, "There. Much better."

“You didn't like the diamond earrings? That's the one you gave me on our fifth wedding anniversary."

"I do, but pearl earrings befit a president's first lady more, don't you think?" Muzan said as he shook his head. He then smiled at you and kissed you sweetly on your forehead.

You smiled cheekily at him, "Already confident you'll win?"

"Of course. I have you as my lucky charm."

"Well, aren't you sweet? Come here..." You were about to pull him down for a kiss on the lips when Kokushibo entered the room and tapped on the door.

"It's time, Sir Muzan," he remarked curtly.

"We'll be there in a minute," Muzan said, turning to face him.

Before leaving the room, Kokushibo bowed graciously.

You saw your spouse take a big breath before turning to you and asking, "Are you ready?"

"I'm ready," you said warmly.

Muzan held your hand in his and you two proceeded towards the door, and when you were finally visible to the audience, the screaming became even louder.

Everyone was evidently delighted to see you.

You gently squeezed Muzan's hand before escorting him to the platform.

You and Akaza, your personal bodyguard, listened to Muzan's speech from the rear, while Kokushibo stood by your spouse as he addressed the people.

Akaza took a step closer to you, but not enough to raise suspicions. He stealthily hooked his pinky with yours, making you blush, and then you felt your insides churn when he spoke to you in that sultry voice of his.

"You should have worn the earrings I got you, Madam."

Oh you have no idea how insane Digimon can be compared to Pokemon. Also Wild with a gun lives rent free in my head. XD

Our Champion definitely bothered Reader's Mummymon about trying the weapon. Avdol is a responsible little shit as he likes trolling people especially any potential students. This mummy is a pure gremlin and mischief maker.

Avdol: Nope. I don't think you can handle Obelisk little guy. Unless you can find a gun range and a training gun then MAYBE I can teach you.

Cyber Sleuth!Reader: Avdol! Don't give him any ideas!

Avdol: What? Wild definitely has the potential to be a good sniper.

Hyrule finally got some extra help in the medic department as both Reader and their Digimon are very skilled. It's even better when he can learn new medical knowledge that could be a big help to everyone. Honestly think that basic first aid isn't really good in the LoZverse when compared to the modern age.

Digimon can learn various moves than just their main attacks. Avdol had two main attacks which are Snake Coils where his bandages coil around opponents like a snake and Necrophobia which can create phantoms to drive opponents crazy but also fire an energy blast from Obelisk.

Avdol has a few Support based moves such as Aura which can lightly heal the whole group, Restore which can dispel any ailments such as Poison, and X Heal which can greatly heal an individual. The last move takes a lot of Mummymon similar to Hyrule's Life spell so he has to use it sparingly.

Reader has some tricks of their own called Hacking Skills. These special techniques that they can use both in the Digital and Real World through their Digivice. It varies on what type of Digimon they have on them.

Mummymon is a Virus Type so Reader can use Stealth Hide(invisibility), Acceleration which boosts their speed, High Security LV1 (slightly reduces enemy encounters) and Route Control (erase or restore pathways).

The Chain definitely got more than they thought with the odd pair of doctors. Although Wars better learn to take care of himself or being wrapped like a mummy by Avdol is in his future.

Sky is flabbergasted by the amount of skill they bring to the team. They're a Jack of all Trades. They can step into any roll and help out.

Legend is relieved to have the assitance. He's done so many things on his own that it's almost as if he doesn't have to do anything at all.

Time feels similarly- if guilty about it. He knows that any Link is high maintence, let alone 9 of them. So he tries to make sure that they don't overextend themselves in the process.

Spoilers for the Broken Earth Trilogy

"Essun is an orogene, who has powers to control the earth, and orogenes are horribly discriminated against and often victims of hate crimes, so she keeps this secret from Jija and when her kids inherit it she tries to hide that too to protect them, in particular subjecting Nassun to abusive training to mask her powers and even breaking her hand because that's how she was taught to do it when she herself was raised by an oppressive and bigoted authority that took her from her parents to make her "acceptable" to society, and she sees no other way. She tries to go gentler on Uche, but when he's three years old he accidentally reveals his powers and his father Jija beats him to death. Nassun (I think she is 8 years old at this point?), who always looked up to her father and thought his kindness was a relief from her mother, discovers Jija and Uche's body, and manages to inadvertantly appeal to him enough with the love he's had for her despite Jija realizing she's an orogene too that he kidnaps her instead of kills her, but Nassun quickly realizes that she now has to pretend to be the innocent endearing child she once was naturally in order to stop him from killing her, while Jija convinces himself that she's different from other orogenes and can be cured. So he travels with her for a long time during which Nassun is forced to kill people to protect them and becomes convinced she really is and has no choice to be the monster that everyone thinks she is. They find a training place to "cure" her, but they don't really do this and Nassun grows proud of her identity, and one day confronts him and says this, leading to him concluding there's no saving her and attacking her, so Nassun (who is like 10 at the time) kills him, while latching on to the person who trained her, Schaffa, as a parent, who genuinely cares for her but only because he is trying to make up for how he used to be one of the people who abused Essun with training tactics that she replicated on Nassun in the first place, and he still has a tendency to randomly kill people. Also she decides she wants to use the power of the obelisk gate to crash the moon into the earth and kill everyone so there will be no more suffering, which Schaffa helps her with as a way to "atone". Meanwhile Essun discovers everything that happened to Nassun and feels horrible that she's turned her into someone just like herself, and winds up confronting her so she can use the obelisk gate to stop the regular apocalyptic natural disasters happening on their planet, and I won't spoil the ending here."

The entire show would not work if the cast wasn't obsessed with her, and they're all right to stan her, literally gets Sora and Serena to defect from Academia with her sheer charisma, beat Masumi at their gay little rivalry, Yugo spends a few days with her and is ready to die for her, Yuya is simply just the loudest about adoring her And why not? She is so clever and determined, doing the most work out of anyone to figure out the myth plot. Actively trains to keep up with the rest of cast. Even when the universe is conspiring against her and trying to keep her down, she fucking headbutts Roger and tells him off or manifests to help save the world in the ultimate girlboss team-up that was the Arc V finale. Truly any dimension without her is worth upending.

The mysterious magical bracelet that isekai's her to different worlds, the Can-Do attitude, the cool poses (fusion summoning), the ADORABLE character design, AND she was 1/4 of a world-saving hero in the past?? If it weren't for the meddling writers, she would have been the main character

yuzu is everything. literally the plot of arc v hinges on the fact everyone who meets her become just as obsessed with her. and they are totally right to do so

This is a genuinely good take on the new art thing, and I love the suggestions here. A lot of people want a new modern breed and would rather see that, and the main reason I'm SEEING for that is that it would add more variation in breeding which is the biggest thing people want.

Well, new art WOULD DO THAT! And I would LOVE to see the Tundra's winter coat or a more wild example of an Imperial's mane etc. This WOULD add the variety people have been wanting, expand on the lore which could get more people ACTUALLY INTERESTED in it, and would be very interesting to see in regards to how apparel would be adapted with all these breed-specifc variations we're TOLD about but have never been shown and so on, I really like this addition!

It's like. Yeah. It IS unlikely this will happen, at least without expanding the team a bit. But people are just putting it down way to quickly without thinking about the potential!

(also might I add: people who disagree with anyone's suggestions in the "suggestions" forum are extremely rude and hostile Immediately like wow calm down)

[ID:] I'm hardly totally disregarding it. New poses could very easily come with additional lore (perhaps a subspecies is represented by the new art or the respective deity put out a new patch for their kids, who knows) to satisfy those of us who care about it. I would very much enjoy that. But just because people care about something doesn't mean it's the important thing. As much as it might be fun to get the new article on the Obelisks, it wouldn't have meant a thing to get an encyclopedia article without the dragon attached to it.

However, you're definitely right about wanting more dragons to breed with our existing dragons, producing more variations, is indeed an important part of a new breed. And, might I point out, we have not yet gotten a new plentiful breed. The four we have now is the four we've always had, and it doesn't seem likely that we'll ever get more variety than we already have, much like Basic is the only plentiful gene we have. It wouldn't be an unreasonable guess that this will always be true. The only way we might ever get additional variety in plentiful breeds is this way.

And as for the Obelisks' curly mane or other features... that is their pose, the way they are situated in their art. It impacts how the apparel interacts with the dragon. Imperials in their encyclopedia article are said to have many different mane styles, but we only have one. Tundras have a ludicrous winter coat that we've never seen. Bogsneaks have wildly varying number of fins. There are other differences from dragon to dragon that's obviously not represented in the art, but proportions and other supposed-breed-only-differences are as much a part of that as a curly mane or more square jaw. Not that additional poses should elaborate on these differences between dragons, but the curly mane is kind of my point. It's the mane, where it is on the dragon, how it looks, and how the apparel interacts with it, that matters. A Tundra with a different hairstyle would probably be as interesting, and it could even come with an addendum about how some Tundras achieve the height of fashion by teaming up with Centaur allies and their power of opposable thumbs.

Either way, I don't think we'll get anything like this ever. But I don't think it's a bad idea, really. [End ID]

Clearly there's a lot of dumb people around here in this entire realm it's awful so we're going to use it they all want to die and it's going to be easier than we thought for instance yesterday we said we continue to abandon your post will take over the territory and we are with permission from the empire. So very large area and yes it was BJA kidnapping Ken. And he was stopped by Michael too and he's on the war path and he got his ass kicked all night and he got straightened out and he wants to straighten him back out and stuff like that cuz he's an animal and he is getting small so are the trumps and soon we'll have our revenge on this group of s***

-we did take over a large amount of area in the southern hemisphere Eastern and Western hemisphere of the southern hemisphere it is pretty good stock about four Spains plus four portugals. And we put bases in other people don't believe it and because one mega base has about twice as many bases as the northeast of Russia had but the max bases is a pretty big.

-and we built some mega bases and Trump is being irritating because he thinks he rode pja onto Michael too when they're going out there and breaking their bunkers and they're getting killed here for just talking about it at all I mean this guy's an idiot and he needs to leave fine day for every Union of bja and Trump and that's who it is. Hey screws around with bja pretty soon and he gets hit bad

-2 MB in each continent Southern continent and those are huge has about a thousand miles up and we didn't put one there yet no we have several to the South and these are the more Northern megabases

-we put in 50,000 small bases throughout the entire continent of each Southern continent and that's new

-we put in five a very large bases in each continent and mostly 2,000 miles and then South and with each of those comes a full complement below and above

-we installed 200 large bases 100 in each continent and all over I was sick of you when your lawless crap there's going to be law and order or you'll die

-there's so many tiny bases it's not worth mentioning that they're in the millions in each continent

-we also installed obelisk and those are massive lasers and the beam is huge and they're like comparable to some of Max powerful lasers and they'll burn a hole in any of your ships including the stone chips and you don't seem to care we put it in about 50, 25 in each. And we are installing monitoring systems in Florida and more and soon we will have control over the entire Southern continent and yeah you'll have areas but they won't last for long and it won't stand in the foreigners are thanking you they're horrified they're getting taken over.

My son mentions that vital and got his wife and goo and oh yeah have been here a lot and Uriel and got his wife are taking notice and it's going to be harder for them and they're not smiling about it so they're going to start working here a few other things going on we are installing all of the cone shaped areas in the cities that we're in with those structures and we are now moving and mobilizing to do the final 1000 cities that's a huge project massive numbers now massive massive numbers and we are entering another phase of our project now we are in phase 5 and it's going very well and I almost have mine complete and it's true and zigzag will be a day or two behind me then that's it

🥀Chiyo Kubo (Professor Kubo)🥀

So, guess who made a teacher oc for the Duel Academy. Even though there is already quite a few teachers, I know there is also teachers who are in charge of dorms. Where Banner is in charge of the Slifer Red Dorm, Sartyr in charge of the Ra Yellow Dorm...but then I noticed that Crowler is in charge of the male Obelisk Blue Dorm while Fontaine is in charge of the girl's Obelisk Blue dorm????

Even though we don't see any girls in Ra Yellow or Slifer Red until like Blair comes along in later seasons, I thought I'd say fuck it and rewrite GX a little mainly because I find it weird that there is only an Obelisk Blue girls Dorm yet there seems to be NONE for Slifer Red or Ra Yellow...? I don't like what it's implying.

So, I decided to add a teacher who is in charge of the girl's Slifer Red and Ra Yellow dorms. It doesn't really change anything in GX just....adds more girl's to even out things and add a girl's Slifer Red & Ra Yellow dorm.

Anyway, meet Professor Kubo (full name Chiyo Kubo or 'Miss Kubo') who is a teacher at Duel Academy who's mainly in charge of the female Ra Yellow and Slifer Red dorms. Kubo is mainly responsible for the girl's Ra Yellow Dorm, but since there isn't a teacher to take charge or the girl's Slifer Red Dorm, Kubo is taking charge for the time being. She has been divorced twice, and genuinely is basically done with the school for the constant weird shit that happens. Also is a single mother. Sometimes her child is seen in her classes. One time having brought her 4 year old daughter to class and had to quickly leave the class for a few minutes because some emergency came up. Came back 20 mins later to find her daughter enforcing a nap time and finding her class full of students sleeping.

Professor Kubo definitely comes off as a very tense and cold teacher, always being sharp with some students and being harsh. Professor Kubo however, does deeply care for her students, only trying to push them to the best of their abilities, however it tends to sometimes comes off as her being strict and mean towards her students (hence why almost majority of the students find her intimidating or do not like her for her blunt and painfully very honest attitude). She absolutely dislikes first years due to how rowdy and rambunctious she tends to find them (from personal experience). However, she gets more lenient as they get into their third year.

Professor Kubo is also somewhat of a school counsellor, having unintentionally became one after helping students with their issues and surprisingly successfully helping them. While she may be strict and harsh, she will go out of her way and do whatever she can to make sure her students are safe and cared for. Considering the type of school Duel Academy is she does question how on earth it even still runs. Then again she remembers that Seto Kaiba created and owns the school.

Professor Kubo upon joining Duel Academy did help suggest (or well, force) to make a girl's Slifer Red and Ra Yellow dorm. While it was put off for a while, it took quite some time with Kubo constantly pushing and pushing for there to be one to finally have other girl's dorms created.

Along with being the School Counsellor, I feel as if Kubo is somewhat head of behaviour. Mainly any students acting up, she'll take into her classes to sit with her students and makes them sit at the front so she knows they'll listen. Any student behind on their work? Holds after school classes or classes during lunch and break times for students to catch up on work. While she admittedly gets irritable with certain students, if a student desperately needs help because their grade is slipping or they're having bother, Kubo will allow the student to come sit with her in class while there aren't any students for them to vent.

Has the biggest grudge against Jaden Yuki and his gang. And especially has a grudge against the Markos siblings (Kore and Riley Markos + their friends). Because every single fucking time shit happens, to quote Kubo: "Why is it every time something bizzare happens or goes tits up, YOU ALL ARE THERE AT THE SCENE OR SOMEHOW INVOLVED IN IT?!" And the amount of counselling sessions she's had with them or students to talk about their issues or wtf went down...at this point she's just baffled and no longer is even surprised. Yet, every single time, they all manage to do something to surprise her. Meaning more work load reports to make. No, Professor Kubo isn't getting paid extra for the amount of overtime she has to do for the reports alone.

[-Relationships with the other teachers-]

• Chancellor Sheppard - Professor Kubo has definitely had a lot of arguments or disagreements with him, ideas being either pushed aside or suggestions put on hold for a while, at the end of the day Kubo has to respect him.

• Vellian Crowler - Some unannounced rivalry between the two. From day one they have been at each others throats, making snide backhanded comments about one another. Even when the other has to go to the other's class to grab something, pass on news or borrow a student they need, they'll always have a bitch off and throw backhanded comments at one another. Students always watching their arguments and insults like it's one of those reality TV shows. Near the last season, she does come to respect Crowler, as they both become civil and even having some weird friendship and enjoying a lot of similar things.

• Jean-Louis Bonaparte - Like Crowler, she's had argument upon arguments with him too. Finds him obnoxious and can't stand him. (Is more lenient towards him in the later season.)

• Sartyr - Actually on good terms, they'll have nice and civil conversations. Granted, not exactly close, but they will have nice chit chats like adults and discuss adult things...like what happened on last night's show or something.

• Lyman Banner - Found him weird, but they were surprisingly close outside of classes and discussed a lot of topics. Miss Kubo ended up being interested in alchemy thanks to Banner, both sharing similar fascinations with Kubo having some unknown subconscious fascination for him and his topics. Of course finding out in the end that Banner was a Shadow Rider, it of course messed with her a bit, especially with their years of friendship.

• Fonda Fontaine - She admires and respects Fontaine. She and her will usually chat either during student's lunch breaks or after school. Talks to her quite A LOT. Saturdays they'll have coffee dates together.

• Dorothy - Upon first joining Duel Academy as a new teacher, Kubo did admittedly feel quite lost and struggled for the first year. Luckily, Dorothy had helped her with her nerves and even helped guide her. And now, however many years later, Kubo views Dorothy as a close friend and guiding figure.

• Mr Stein - Never spoke much with him. Finds him attractive admittedly, but no more. Enjoys knowing history of dueling from him (despite his tone of voice...)

This is all I have for now, but if anymore info I add or have forgotten, might edit this post or just idk make another post. Will eventually talk about her two divorced husbands and child in later time maybe. Eventually.
