Not to be That Guy but like.
Am I the only one that can't stop thinking about how Tianlang-Jun says about Luo Binghe that he pretends to be cold-hearted like his mother. The hint of fondness there, the heartache in that utterance.
Like it drives me absolutely insane. Imagining her putting on a front of strength, cold and driven and unrelenting. Why does TLJ say that about her. Did she secretly look for solutions that meant reconciling with demons instead of hurting them when her sect wasn't looking? (I wonder this because I feel like his weird fondness for SQQ would lowkey track if it's connected to the woman he once loved.) Did he mean that she was tasked with basically assassinating him and she fell in love with him instead (re: failed step one)? Did he mean that she was fond and doting in her own way (e.g. conceding he was attractive, paying for his exploits and humoring him)? Did he mean that, like LBH, she thought that power would be the thing to protect her--and that it was disguising a person who was deeply and privately wounded? All four????? I don't need sleep I need a n s w e r s
Did she know about the Huanhua Palace Master's skeevy ass intentions before she met TLJ? Or did those only come to significant light after she fell in love with TLJ? Is that why she never anticipated that level of betrayal, because initially she had no intention of being with anyone romantically? And HHPM just assumed she would be under his thumb forever?? Was she furious at her own indiscretion or did she try to use the pregnancy as a bargaining chip, a way to try to stop the immortals of Cang Qiong Mountain from attacking TLJ (plus the bonus of marriage entrapment no takesies backsies this is where LBH gets it from)? Did she try to use that claim on her to dissuade HHPM from his covetous advances, framing herself as tainted so that she could finally escape? Did she dream of a life by TLJ's side, far away from Cang Qiong Mountain?
Like. Literally every single permutation of what this could mean guts me to hell. Do you ever just cry about tianxi because I--[loud bawling noises]

i turn 29 on july 1st. i feel like i make a lot of these notes to myself, to check in. hi, me, here's what's happening.
hi, me. hi, you, too, if you keep reading. here's some rules i have been following:
when a book is bad, i put the book down. i choose something i like instead. when i don't like a movie, i don't make myself watch until the end. i care less and less what people think about me and focus more on being a good friend.
for the 6 months or so, i've been asking people what they think should be my next book or tv show. i ask them where i should go on a walk next week. i ask them what food i should try next, what hobby. and then i write it down in front of them.
the truth is some stuff slips through the cracks. but most of the time? within two weeks, i get to send my favorite kind of text - so i tried the thing you were talking about and !
i have a new policy for split-second choices - it's better to try it. i have social anxiety. i have to talk myself into doing many things. i am constantly battling the desire to run away as far as my feet will take me. and then i stand up and i do the thing anyway. i make myself act and dance and sing. sometimes, yes, i know-immediately never again, i hate this. but most of the time - i just have fun with it.
i have a new mantra - nobody is scorekeeping. at the end of my life, there will be no grand reading of how many calories i'd been eating. no reviews on how many boring documentaries i forced myself through, no calculation on how many hours i endured an extremely dull educational podcast. and so what if i try karaoke and i don't actually nail it? so what if i stumble over my words while trying to make a public announcement? so what if i wear something too-showy to go to the grocery store? nobody there knows me, and: nobody's keeping score.
life doesn't resolve with a grade (i know, i was as shocked as everyone else when i realized it). i am not falling behind, because there's no curriculum to life that i should be following. there are no checkpoints; nobody is making sure i have a fully-furnished life resume. i am just here for as long as the earth will have me, and i get to decide what makes me happy.
i don't have a partner or a house or anything that is supposed to belong to people-my-age. i spend most of my time focusing on being kind, compassionate, ready to listen without restraint.
and honestly? i feel good. like actually. i kind of like it this way.

This is about GOS2 but not quite -just wanted to tell you how refreshing (and calming) it is to see someone dislike something, or disagree with something, or someone (Neil, in this case) while being completely polite and respectful to people who do like it (the show, the ship, this season specifically, whatever) and not doing personal attacks or being insulting or downright hostile or aggressive. Just... Liking what you like, not liking what you don't like, and being in your own "bubble" so to speak. I adore the first season, and some moments in this one (not the season in general), and I've had to see and start avoiding absolutely wild stuff since 2019, from haughty superiority from book first fans calling people who liked the show absolute idiots, people directly attacking fanwork creators or even Tennant, Sheen and Gaiman themselves, to even worse stuff I'd rather not think about. As you can probably already imagine, that specific kind of dumpster fire has only gotten worse since the release of S2.
My take on fandom has always been to enjoy what you enjoy and ignore the rest unless it's something serious with real-world implications or consequences. It's always stressed me out how people can get, to the point that for several years I stopped engaging with fandom entirely, and I just wanted to say this, I guess, because it's been a breath of fresh air. I wish more people engaged with fictional material and fandom the way you do. Cheers, hope you have nice day and that this wasn't too weird of a message to get
This is really beautifully put, thank you for the nice message! Yeah all-in-all, these are just a show/a book/content made for people's entertainment, and there's absolutely no reason to get to the point of attacking the cast and crew or fans personally.

You are really doing your username justice, well for the saint’s part I mean. Was going to ask you for your overall opinion on Mr Collins and you already posted something yesterday? What a coincidence, peace and love on planet earth! 🥹
Peace and love indeed! You're entirely too kind, friend!
I have a lot of feelings about Collins, needless to say. Especially about how his story fits in with that wider theme of the Individual vs the Collective.
He's such a kind and caring person who clearly sees others as individuals - he knows exactly who that is in the water, even after the poor bugger's plummeted past him at terminal velocity. And I think about that a lot in sharp contrast to someone like Franklin who in the very same episode (at least in the scripts) has to be reminded who David Young even is and even then still acts directly against Young's best interests in shipping him over to Erebus.
Both men are part of the Collective as senior officers, as members of command.
One sees his men as individuals and is willing to put his own life on the line to do right by them
One barely seems to see his men at all, let alone as individuals, and isn't willing even to put his own evening plans on the line in order to do right by one of them.
So yeah, I suppose it just makes it all the more heart-breaking that Collins tries so hard to look out for the Individual when he's part of the Collective, only to not receive the same care and respect when he himself is the Individual.

And what especially sucks is that Viv says she's fine with people shipping Alastor with other people. Like...
Why do people treat AroAce people do different???
Like, when I got into my first and last relationship {before I realized I was aromantic}, my family would make jokes of me and the person not being allowed in the same room with the door closed, make kissing jokes {even though I would literally try to flee from CHEEK KISSES} and so many things
And like. I can't help but project onto AroAce characters????
Also, a bit unrelated because my brain is all over the place, but I saw a comment on TikTok that was like "in the episode, Alastor used the AroAce version of 'your daughter calls me daddy too'" and then I scrolled and the rest of the comments were people fighting
Like
If you wanna ship Alastor with someone... QUEER PLATONIC RELATIONSHIPS EXIST- {I think that's the right term????? Idk I just woke up again.} Like. None of the romance. None of the sex. Just two people that are in a platonic relationship. {But then there would be people that see it and then go "oh they're just besties! Time to ship the AroAce character with people"}
{also I saw like this argument somewhere on this app between two people over queer platonic relationships, one person saying they're not real and the other person pointing out that they are and stuff.}
Anyway, I've never understood why people just. Keep shipping AroAce characters with people. It's like they took the words of AroAce people {the "some of us can still date and sex" words when someone goes "uhm you can't be AroAce because [insert sex or relationship]"} because it's like. They're using things that would be like "we're also AroAce" just to EXCLUDE SEX AND ROMANCE REPULSED AROACE PEOPLE FROM EXISTING IN FICTION
Like. It just. Never makes sense to me. People talk about erasing identities of other queer characters but the moment that they're AroAce they begin going "oh it's fine" like. What's the different between shipping an AroAce character with someone and shipping a gay character with the opposite gender????
Hold on my brain just tried to go to a different topic with genders {specifically "if heterosexual is 'attraction to the opposite gender' would that make agenders only attracted to Omnigender/Pangender?" And I have no idea why. Probably because I JSUT woke up from a nap}
Back to the rant, it just... Why can't AroAce characters in media exist in peace??? It's like people see canonical AroAce characters and make it a CHALLENGE to ship them with as many people as possible.
YES!
say it with me now:
Aroace people are a part of the community and deserve equal representation in media too!
aroace people should not be excluded or have their representation have leeway and wiggle room to fit the conformities of society
aroace people deserve to be seen!

it's so fascinating to me how little there is to work with if you want to go with the (most likely) intended reading of yashiro as a cis man. if you ignore what other characters are saying, all the instances of "bitch" being thrown at him, men comparing him to a woman as an insult, and just focus on his own feelings regarding his gender and masculinity, there's… nothing really? the few times when he explicitly says that he's not a woman go hand in hand with "therefore it's okay to hurt and abuse me, to be rough with me, to want to leave me, etc etc". the way he talks about men usually reads as "men and me" with a level of separation there. all the "what type of women do you like? is this how it is with women? are you gentle with women? women women women?" there's no attachment to being a man, not that i can see at least, so reading saezuru through the lenses of sexuality and gender rather than just sexuality is this weird experience of "i know what you want me to think, but thank you for leaving so much room for the other interpretation"

Like I don't Post about drama but vis a vis predestro's Tumblr ban, like. I don't necessarily think it's a good thing that we on the Internet have become so desensitized to threats of violence that we use them as jokes, but like.... That's been Tumblr culture for, what, a decade now? At least four years. Almost definitely longer.
And like. I've seen so much worse. Folks admitting to sending asks telling others to kill themselves!! Folks outright wishing x/y person killed themselves!!! Folks harassing trans folks (esp. trans women!)
But what gets this one lady banned was her man door hammer hand car boom-ass post???
Like, talk about enforcing the TOS from the wrong angle.
I totally get that part of it is "this person had their rule breaking reported en masse so something happened" but shouldn't the severity of the response have more to do with the severity of the offense, rather than how many people reported that user?
Like. The fact that we have to do mass reports to get anything to happen to anyone is ridiculous.
And, the fact that INCORRECT mass reports aren't punished more is also ridiculous.
There's also no report function for discriminatory content, or for seeing users harass each other. So... If you're not the one being harassed, your report does... Nothing??
Unless you, what scroll through someone's blog looking for things you could report as threatening violence??
On the "I hope every politician dies" webbed site???
There's obviously something fucky with their reporting system- either the way that reports are handled, or the way the severity of the reports are being judged.
Cause right now, it looks like they got a flood of reports from TERFs, photomatt saw a post about him, and went "well, fuck it, get her out of here" without looking at the context of HER BEING HARASSED FOR AGES. And that the post in question- the only one I saw shared!- was almost certainly a vent post for Said Situation that was...
Comically mishandled?
Like this one?
Like. Look. Do I think maybe at some point, on the "way too comfortable with violence on people I see as Wrong in some way" webbed site, a popular user said something that could actually be construed as a threat, and due to rampant transmisogyny got, got her shit reported?
Yeah, I can see that.
I don't follow her blog too closely, I know she does a lot of hyperbolic stuff. (as is Done on this Web site, again... I've almost certainly rb'd things just as bad)
But the example photomatt uses is hilariously bad and so obviously not a threat, and one would think, IN LIGHT OF THERE BEING ALLEGATIONS OF TRANSPHOBIA ON THEIR TEAM FOR YEARS, THEY WOULD BRING OUT A MORE CREDIBLE PIECE OF EVIDENCE THAN A LOONY-TOONS ASS DEATH WISH.
Just. The bar was on the ground and they still fumbled It! Fucking! Amazing!

Random person online: You're just dragging out this story to artificially boost your views! If you really cared about your art, you wouldn't even post it until the story was finished!
Me:
Me: *slowly looks over to the story I spent a year completing so I could post it all at once only to have it be one of my least popular long fics*
Me: If. If you want authors to post completed fics, you realize that you have to actually interact with completed fics, right?
