bit of thinking outloud but for my current tactician run im doing a special wyll origins playthrough im calling the Evil Wyll Run & it’s given me a lot of food for thought about his character (or at least the freedom of psychological movement + exploration afforded to an origin run!)

wyll spoilers abound we’re entering the wyllenium here

wyll always felt a bit underwritten to me - i know that’s partially because there was that big kerfuffle in the 11th hour with changing his whole story and personality on top of having to recast his VA, and frankly hats off to both original VA lanre malaolu & new VA theo solomon for their hard work - both brought tremendous performances, & i sincerely hope mr malaolu was paid well for his work & time even if his voice wasn’t used in the final cut (i would also say warlock as a class itself felt a bit underdeveloped but im 100% OK with chalking that up to me the player not understanding how to play warlock effectively yet lol im more of a fighter barbarian Hit Stuff guy)

but honestly this feeling of being “underwritten” combined with a character with a long history of heroism in his pocket made wyll really interesting to me even in my tav playthrough. for all his accomplishments he still feels like a blank everyman, or like he’s someone who fully believes he’s the main character who doesn’t “need” to do any extra work on himself - and honestly he feels Very much like he could be The Main Character. once his backstory of the son of the duke was revealed too i immediately got the sense of like, rich boy trying to prove his worth beyond his wealth and status by striking out & becoming that hero, or that Prince Charming. basically that perfect happily ever after somebody. and im of the opinion that you don’t get mixed up with a cambion in the first place unless you’re either the kind of naïve “everything will just work out” immature that tends to comes with his status as the son of a noble, or you’re hungering for power. depending on playstyle he’s very easily both of these things

on the naïve front (ie a good wyll playthrough) if anything he feels very believably immature, & from that perspective the events of the game feel as though they’re the prequel to the actual start of wyll's story where he finally finds himself & learns what kind of man he really is. we just dont get to see it alas, but i really enjoyed the thought exercise of somebody still grappling with overcoming his own immaturity. he feels like someone who can still grow and that his tale is just beginning

Evil Wyll (meaning any time mizora shows up he drops everything to enact her instruction & hasnt once tried to find a loophole out of his contract) which ive come to be far more fascinated by is someone clearly vying for power, which is interesting because his noble status would’ve given him all the power he wants had he Played Nice. to me it speaks of someone who wants to be able to take what he wants from life without it being handed to him, which contrasts in a really fascinating way with entering into a warlock pact at all. maybe he thought it was better that it be a decision he made as opposed to nobility given to him by his family ties, maybe there’s still that pollyanna sentiment of “it’ll just work out & ill live happily ever after.” again maybe both. maybe in a sense the fiend, as he calls himself, is a good excuse to shuck off any poor decision he makes or any genuinely heinous thing he does under mizora’s instruction - an identity he uses as power fantasy (and very much in tandem/interchangeable with the blade of frontiers power fantasy) until it means taking ownership for any of his misdeeds, and then a scapegoat.

may be a bit incoherent but im only now hitting act 3 in my origin run & im Really enjoying this difficult characterization ive cooked up for myself lol

folks i have put in the legwork to try to understand the jgy apologist side of the fandom since that seems to be So Many People... I thought that maybe the tv show elevated his crimes to make it a more black and white villain situation but then I read what he does in the novels and it is WAY WORSE... i literally feel like it's 2012 and people are writing loki-style apologism for "his childhood was very sad (extremely true it was horrible) and that's why the crimes are okay (the crimes are so so many murders and SA because his feelings and desires are more important than People's Lives)"

AITA for secretly taking back a gift I gave to my uncle?

So a little backstory, I used to be a huge crypto bro before it all went to shit in recent years. I bought into the story of bitcoin revolutionizing currency and I’m a bit of a techno geek so I got really into it. Anyway, my uncle (64M) was initially super supportive of the idea and was always fascinated by computers even though he rarely used his own. He was much more interested in the time we spent together knocking back beers and theorizing how the global economy would turn on its head in the new digital era.

On his birthday in 2012 I bought him his own bitcoin wallet with around 100 bitcoin in it (around 200 USD at the time) . He was estatic even though I told him he couldnt use it for anything yet. As the years have gone on bitcoin took off like a rocket and had massively increased in value. At its peak (in the mid 2010’s) they were worth 35,000 dollars each. Which meant my uncle was now a multi-millionaire. However, he was getting older and his mind was nowhere near as sharp as it once was.

One day, I asked him how his wallet was doing and he looked at me confused, saying he lost it several years ago in the wash. Admittedly I got red-hot and yelled at him for being careless and told him he couldve been a multimillionaire if he kept hanging on. We got into a huge fight that resulted in us not talking for a couple months. This was a couple years ago and we have since forgotten about the argument but the lost wallet has never left my mind.

Recently, I was cleaning out my computer when I came across an old .txt file hanging out on my desktop. Lo and behold, there was his wallet key that I must’ve written down for safekeeping all those years ago. It still had the 100 bitcoin in it. I immediately cashed it out for a total of 3 million dollars. An unfathomable amount of money for me and my family. I havent told him yet and I dont think im going to. He lost the wallet key and without it no one would be able to access it, losing it forever. Hes already assumed its been lost and has been over it for some time (he does well enough for himself) while it would be a life changing amount of money for me. so AITA?

Hoon’s older brother theories eh?

So Hoon was a figure skater. (How much for the other characters know about Hoon’s figure skating days? Like Do they know my beloved Snow Queen was his partner? Do they know she can skate? Anyways—) Family probably had money. Maybe not a ton of money, but enough to be comfortable. Maybe appearances are EVERYTHING to Daddy Park. He wants to be high up on the social ladder than he is. Business stuff probably. He’s just rich enough to NOT really be truly wealthy, but if he has two stand out sons. Say… one genius and one Olympic athlete?

That is bankable social currency.

Older Brother Park (Park Chadwick or some other pretentious name) is super good looking (bonus points if he appears and hits on Snowflake or if Snowflake calls him hot) but is also a prodigy. Music maybe? Or Math? Medicine? Something where he can be obnoxiously exploited at a young age by his social climbing parents.

Chad is internationally known. Currently (un)happily engaged to a pleasant but vacant daughter of Korea’s 100 Most Influential because he and his brother were both raised addicted to Daddy’s favor and even if his actual heart may or may not be with a beautiful young teacher he met while volunteering for appearance sake at a local Elementary School career fair, he is still marching to the Park family drum.

He and Hoon are cold but cordial. Sometimes passive aggressive. Occasionally outright aggressive. Hoon is tired of hearing how disappointing he is compared to Chadwick. His parents tend to spend most of their time when they talk to Hoon telling him how well Chadwick is following their 678 step plan for his life.

It’s a sore spot because Hoon looked up to his brother and loved him and he feels like he’s lost so many of the relationships from his childhood that were truly important too him.

Chad is secretly jealous of Hoon because he sees him as having broken free. Hoon maybe finds out that his older brother hot for teacher and tells him to go for it—their father’s approval isn’t worth losing real love and the chance at a real family.

Chad is a secret HardCore Hoon/Yn shipper. Does flirt with YN if he sees her but with the sole intent of pushing his brother’s buttons.

Deep down the brother’s love each other but there has definitely been damage and distance in the last decade or so and it’s mostly Papi Hoon’s fault…

But yeah I haven’t thought about it that much…

Anwyay so harper and feena started when @thatbiblicallyaccuraterat asked me to draw a silly guy eating monster much and he turned into harper (ill link some pictures to show) and he felt lonely so i made him a friend called feena and theyve been a thibg since then HOLY SHIT I THINK ITS BEEN 2 YEARS?????

Harper and feena r supposed to be my silly ocs that are my go toos when i start daydreaming and drawing! Their not supoosed to have too much trauma and stuff (IM CONTAINING MYSELF) so i camt head empty and harper its also so when i draw them they make me happy they are my happyness. So becazue i cant give them trauma i make altermate realitoes where i CAN give them trauma!!

Im gonna make sections so i caj explain everthing so it can atleast try to make sense

1. THEIR RELATIONSHIP :3

Ok so when i started I made them friends ofc!! And i thought they where cool as hell so i started thinking about their relationship and i was thinking how wierd it would feel if they where a couple so their thing is that their completely platonic and are jist realy close friends that are realy comfortable with each other, i wouldnt say like 'siblings' but more like that one cousin that your realy close with. I like to think of them as denji and power from chainsaw man (however i see denji and power as more of siblings) but no matter how close they get with eachither they dont feel anything romantic :3 i have a thing that when they where 14/15 they where like fuck it lets kiss and they hated it!!!!! they wanted to die!!!!!

I also have different ages for them i draw them as for whatever mood im in! So i have toddler harper and feena (theyve met in primary school) and then children harper and feena (10-12) and then theres also teen (14-16) and preadult idk forgot what its called (17-19) and adult! (20-22) by 20-22 they have an appartment with 2 other roomates nadia and caspian i dont realy have a story for them yet however they do have designs. So basically they jsut spend their entire lives together as besties and this is their main world where their happy and have no trauma and are just silly!!

2. Sexualities n stuff

Well im nor good at this stuff since i realy have no kmowledge but i kinda just peojected me and @thatbiblicallyaccuraterat onto them...

Harper:

Bisexual, he/they. Dyslexic and/or is on the autism spectrum idk i dont think much about this

Feena:

Aro/ace or Asexual i havent decided, goes by anything. I honestly dont even know she is any and all illnesses

3. Childhood and all

So i dont wanna give them a traumatic childhood since their my silly chracters!!

HOWEVER, they do have some sort of backstories.

Feena:

Some sort of religious trauma, her family where 100% praise our lord and saviour jesus christ and she didnt feel part. Knew what she was when she was a teen and after harper came out and was more comfortable. Didnt tell her parents until she moved out, (they very obviously didnt take it well) however is still in touch with them!! Their just kinda realy uncomforable whenever the subject changes to jesus or gay stuff idk.

Harper:

Twas a bit (a lot) stupider than most people his age (austismmmmm) his parents payed more attention to their sisters so that they could have a better education instead of wasting their time on a child thatll never learn and refuses to listen (wasnt diagnosed till he was an adult so they thought he was being annoying purposefully). Tbh just whats a hug LMAO. He came out to his parents, they told him it was just a phase and theylll get out of it eventually.

So ive always eanted these 2 cats, one called jester one called mariposa. So if i cant have them whats better than having my oc that represents me having them?

Like i said since i dont want harper and feena to have too much trauma i create new universes for them! Other than my main ailly one theres another 3 i favour out of all the ones i make

1. I made a dystopian after apocolypse one (MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE ITS SO FUN TO MAKE!!) where the aftermath is that the world (well at leats where their living) is split into two, the privlidged and less priveledged (I NEED NAMES FOR THESE I DONT HAVE ANY) anywwy what i think i can best decribe this as is like the hunger games, where theres the 'capitol' and the 'districts' but instead of there being districts its all just survival of the fittest L lmao so yah. So after the apocolypse harper and feena are split up. Feena ends up with the privileged and harper ends up with the less. Harper finds a place he can call 'home' (FOUNDFAMILYFOUNDFMILYFOUNDFAMILY) and feena ends up on the other side where she gets her memories wiped and she then hets brainwashed to belive she was sent down as a gift from god during hard times and everyone is supposed to worship her (tehe i wont bother yiu with any more of this story)

Mark of Athena - Rick Riordan

First of UNCLE RICK STRAIGHT UP JUST YEETED PERCABETH INTO TATURAS LIKE WTF! They just got back together than *punch in the face* oof big scary giant war than when we caught our breath *stronger punch to the face* Bye bye percabeth have fun in HELL! like he did them so dirty! Also fun reminder Annabeth’s bag and dagger are lost so she can’t heal or defend herself and another key point is that her leg/ankle is practically useless at this point based of how much strain she has put on the injury. Percy has riptide but as mentioned early he is a bit rusty with his sword fighting and there is absolutely 0 water in Taturas so with Annabeth having nothing and Percy having a single sword they are practically doomed (haha funny joke they 100% have plot amour so they’ll be fine😅)

Next point is our poor boy Nico! He has a subscription to ultimate trauma plus and I think he needs to cancel that subscription asap! Just a quick recap of what this subscription has brought him:

Mother being killed

being stuck in a timeless hotel for 70+ years

getting out and almost being killed by monsters

Sister “abandoning” him and joining the hunter’s

realises oh shit I think I’m gay…

like that’s nine traumatic things and I think he is only like 13-14 at this point! Like give my boy a break! But at least he has Hazel to comfort him and yes i know Nico still has more trauma to come but like please let him cancel his subscription soon!

Speaking of trauma subscriptions poor bad boy supreme is heavily in his ‘I hate myself and no one loves me era’. The way he blames himself for everything even if it was inevitable or it wasn’t even his fault! He needs to cut himself some slack! And also shame on nemesis for telling and already insecure boy that he will always be the seventh wheel, like telling someone there the third wheel is harsh but the seventh?! That’s like a bullet to the heart! Also the complicated way that Hazel and Leo’s pasts intertwine is crazy! Hazels first boyfriend way Leo’s great grandpa and that Sammy (hazels first boyfriend) still blames himself for selling the diamond and believing it cause her disappearance! Like that’s just some next level shit!

Anyway overall I would say this was a great book that really gave us a quality insight into some further law, personality’s and backstory’s of these characters. I would rate this a 9.5/10 donuts not a perfect 10 because uncle Rick chucked percabeth into Taturas (imma start rating books out of donuts now)

1- the character everyone gets wrong

i. 🧍 ok so ive been more in my bubble lately so perhapeth my frothing at the mouth will be a bit more outdated idk. im scared of the main tags LOL but. ahem, i am torn between wanting to pick riddle, maybe cater, or ROOK. im a rook apologist til the day i die i s2g. however i am a heartslabyul stan first and a person second, as i have said many a time, so im going with CATER MY BELOVED CAYCAY ACTUALLY.

listen i admit here that i could also be Fully Wrong bc tbh cater's whole Deal is so vaguely hinted at and peppered in at the most spaced out moments and we know so very little about his Secret Sadness and more somber side, there's probably more that we still dont know that maybe [I HOPE] they will spring on us over time. however. HOWEVER. i do not think cater's sunshine upbeat persona is 100% "Fake". like i think there's more to it. yes sure he is implied to be putting on more of a peppy face for the sake of people around him and gets exhausted by it, but i dont think that means it's ALL A LIE and that the sad boy cater is the REAL cater. like i think it's all real, to an extent? something i really like about twst are how, at least to me, everyone seems to be pretty well rounded and multifaceted. there's not really a one note character. everyone's got their own personality and backstory and some we just have learned more about than others. but the way they react to certain situations and certain people and certain environments... just like in real life, it's going to change sometimes depending on the situation. so maybe he masks a bit and pushes out the negativity bc he's def the mediator type who tries to keep up morale, but i dont think that means he's never once experienced Real Joy in his life. i know the lab story with the madrake had those more morose sadlad mandrakes he desperately wanted to hide from lilia and vil [even tho they saw right through him] but the other ones he made still reflected him too! aspects of him, for better or for worse. i'm just saying i don't think it's gotta be all or nothing. there's def more to him under the surface, but i don't think that means everything he shows is all a complete lie forever either.

to follow up on that, i ALSO don't agree w/the depiction that his friendships mean nothing to him / are also all "fake". listen. i have reread cater's wish from the starsending event SEVERAL times. i know. IT HURTS where trey implies he thinks cater isn't being fully open and honest with him. I KNOW. and the bit in cater's halloween card story (i'm pretty sure it was cater's anyway) where he thinks to himself that lilia has no idea what kind of helplessness he's feeling bc lilia has his diasomnia long term friends and cater's had to move around so much so he's never had that, and it kinda seemed implied that his old friends dont really keep in touch til hes relevant on magicam for the stuff going on in school . i get it! HOWEVER. i think it's again a more complex situation. i think, personally, cater as he's said few times in canon - he likes to live in the moment and make memories! but i don't think those good memories are fake. i think you can enjoy people's company and love them a whole lot and still keep them at a bit of a distance. i think cater does mask some of his more serious feelings, as trey implied he suspected. i think cater probably does get tired of being the mediator. i think being the third in command at heartslabyul is exhausting and cater's a teen boy with a lot of complicated feelings, but i think he has fun with lilia and kalim in pop music club. i think he and trey are genuine friends - they roomed together for 2 years! i think he loves teasing his little freshmen buddies like a big brother lol. i'm about to go on about riddle and cater in the next question but fkljsdfjlkse.

yes cater holds back, but i dont think that means he's never expressed genuine feelings either!!!

8- common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

i am biting anyone that tries to imply cater and riddle arent friends or that trey prefers riddle over cater!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LISTEN listen listen. ok i get that it can be an interesting concept to explore of the potential tension between cater riddle and trey w/like childhood friends trey and riddle but then bestie 3rd years trey and cater but then riddle shows up and takes control- i get it! i dont necessarily think it's wrong to explore that potential area.

however. HOWEVER. we are talking about MY options and thoughts and feelings on beloved heartslabyul LOL. And I think cater and riddle ARE FRIENDS!!!!!!! i think all three of them!!!! are!!!!! FRIENDS!!!!!!!! THEY GET ALONG THEY LOVE EACH OTHER!!!! some people portray riddle as being annoyed with cater or whatever and like , on one hand riddle is annoyed at many things and caycay's kind of a goofball so like yeah to a degree that's true LOL but!!!! BUT!!!!! riddle trusts cater. riddle likes cater!!! if you've read the heartslabyul card stories as many times as i have fjlksjkejs you would KNOW that riddle trusts cater enough to have him and trey at his side constantly and gives them BOTH roles of leading the underclassmen for stuff like preparing for the unbirthday parties!! and when he's having his little meltdowns in book 1, trey and cater were the ones he had kind of on the front lines of ejecting ace or whatever klsjfv they are his trusted boys!!! AND in halloween 2 when cater was missing, riddle said usually he'd get on cater's case for talking too much (lol) but he, along with trey and ace, were 😔😔😔 making the saddest of faces as he said it felt weird to NOT hear cater making his jokes to lighten the mood, and trey ALSO commented on how cater's usually there to smooth things over. cater is a mediator and a morale booster and he is recognized as such!!

plus!!! riddle made a point in his dorm outfit story of helping cater study, as he does with all the heartslabyul boys that are struggling, but in a way cater could understand. he literally made a magicam and used it exclusively to help cater focus better and learn in a way that worked for him. like yea he loses his temper, bc hes Like That, but he ALSO cares. he also tries! he's got his flaws but he's still in spite of those flaws doing what he can to try and understand the people around him and especially his TRUSTED FRIENDS LIKE CATER!!!!

and trey loves cater too!!! they are friends!!! yes yes whatever i read the cater gym story where trey goes "u and me are tight but riddle and i are tighter as his housewarden lol" listen to me. LISTEN TO ME. grabbing u all by the shoulders and shaking you so much LISTENNNNNNNNNNNN. again i get it that it can be fun to explore that further of like "ough he chooses riddle over cater cater is all alone" and like im not the fun police people can do what they want. HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i do not think it was That Deep. like maybe it was, maybe a little bit. but i did not read that as "trey doesnt care about cater" or anything like that. i very much see trey and cater's bond as like easygoing well oiled machine but also with a lot of banter and teasing. trey has said on a home screen line (i wanna say it's his ceremony robes card) that he and cater's friendship just kinda naturally fell into place bc cater's really easy to get along with and trey feels like he can be himself around him [which yes coupled with the line he says in starsending about how he feels like maybe cater's got more personal wishes that maybe he doesnt feel like he can share with Trey Specifically is. painful. LOL] and actually!!! in both their ceremony robes stories they are together and trey is teasing cater i think lol. like in cater's they're doing the guessing game of which dorm each student would get sorted into. theyre playing a game!!! cater's being silly sometimes and treys kinda shaking his head at him for some of his comments, but theyre getting along and are comfortable and it's a lighthearted thing. then in trey's story, theyre panicking about how the roses arent painted how they should be, trey says caters gotta split card and go for it and is like "lol thanks for ur sacrifice ♥", caters like THATS EXHAUSTINGGGGGG and treys like "yea yea ill listen to you complain all you want later". and trey smiles to himself at caters magicam post right after! it's endearing. panic together, solutions together, complaining and teasing but ultimately they work well together! they are friends who get along! trey is kind of a goofy guy but it's not as apparent, but i think we see it a little more especially within heartslabyul and especially with cater. maybe thats part of what he means by feeling like he can be more relaxed and stuff around cay. god theres so much of cater and trey being absolute besties - even grim and lilia have separate lines commenting on how theyre like bffs. grim mentions it in the scalding sands event, something about how it's no surprise that cater invited trey to come on the trip. and lilia in book 5 straight up says [in the engtwst translation] "I'm surprised you didn't invite your partner, Trey." and then i mean yea cater immediately is like "wahhh i DID but hes busy helping riddle he rejected meeee we are rejected buddiessss" and later is like "wahhh riddle stole trey away~!!!" when theyre checking on everything lol. BUT i think a lot of that is like just caycay bein silly and trey not only had other obligations but also was likely not going to want to do a performance thing anyway [trey even says later like 'i told you im bad at song and dance lol'] fsjklejkf like i dont think it's that deep here, i think cay was just havin a goof complaining and wanting to hang with his buddies lol. but my point was lilia basically being like "hey man where is your other half that you are constantly with" BECAUSE THEY ARE FRIENDS!!!

I'm just afraid that in regards to vegaspete we won't get their romance arc..we have what... 4 eps left...they'll dive into his backstory and get us to see how and why he is the way he is/ what drives him...even though they said it'll be vegas centric we are still getting all this other plot holes filled....and then we know pete will escape coz he's in the big showdown fight and i believe his on the major familys side...i don't think he'll be at a place where he'll choose vegas just yet...what I'm predicting is that more torture for pete...he may get a glimpse of vegas other side(his issues with his father etc and how that affects him) he'll still be torturing pete to relase his anger and frustration...when pete escapes he'll still be harboring resentment/anger from what vegas did to him (i don't think they'll have enough time to develop something more just yet, but they'll be something brewing that maybe pete will not want to acknowledge just yet) when the big showdown happens, vegas maybe gets hurt and escapes...maybe pete sees this and follows him and then i dont know, maybe they point a gun to each other and have a stare down and pete sees how vulnerable vegas is how he's bleeding but he doesn't shoot and then vegas just runs off and ends in a cliffhanger? Because of talks of season 2 that is why i keep coming up with different versions of what we might get now because before the announcement i was 100% sure of their romantic arc this season...😩 i just want vegaspete literally i don't care about the rest..I'm sorry but I'm not too invested in the other couples like i am with vegaspete...i feel like given the chance they will steal the show and make it theirs🤭🤣that's how much they are interesting...

This is where it gets confusing for me. On one hand I believe even after the season 2 announcement we have enough time and arc the next 4 episodes to explain these 2's storyline, I feel like this is only if they're given most of the screen time in the next 2 episodes especially. I just feel like they've been doing something with these two even before the kidnapping and it's been hinted and they just are waiting to fully explain what they've been planning with them, I think they will get into a very torrid game of s*ex and games vs vulnerability, passion and feelings/love. It's going to be quick and fast once the spark is lit and these two will devour each other because they both thirst and hunger so much for each other they don't even realise the depth of it yet. That's how I see it. 

On the other hand BibleBuild admitted we will be getting a different ending to the novel, I just don't see how if we're getting the major/minor family finale fight, that is if we are and they haven't changed it, and I'm almost 100% we're getting the chess motif at the end concluding the game paralleling the ending of episode 1. Those are still the novel structure, those are still following the ending. Build has also mentioned Pete will be seen by the end of this as not the good smiley guy he is, because it's his choice to do what he wants, he also has consistently giggled upon making choices for Pete about what he would do ultimately. I think Build is making me believe that with all the love scenes coming, the craziness, the mindgames, VegasPete will be romantic but again will they be both on the same amount? No. Vegas will get broken and devoured and get his comeuppance this season so he will get punished, his punishment is Pete, his Vegas to his Tawan is going to be Pete, he will be played and hurt and he will be wrecked. And Pete may do that but I still think the ending will have him embrace Vegas somehow, whether it is by him letting him go (which I think is too easy for Vegas since he's connected to foreshadowings of death and rebirth (following the novel there too) or seeing him get shot as an act of protecting him by the people he's been loyal to all his life (which could also happen), or seeing him in the way the novel ended, Vegas will be hurt and Pete will still in my opinion not stay still and face his fears and destroy his bird nest. That's how I see it. But again I am normally wrong about the structure of the show they seem to give me what I want but also seem to take away things I need them to keep, but once again even if they've cut the scenes they're still following the structure and layout so far, and I can see how it can be followed all the way to episode 14. 

I don't think we're goanna get their soft scenes from the novel because it'll give more time to the mindgames of their story which is really where their story does have a heavy focus on is it love or is it manipulation. The show will make Pete in my opinion balance that out, he'll have the power soon, and Vegas will be the one tortured a different way by the end. So yeah they won't be fluffy, we won't get horoscopes, or movies or maybe even food scenes (I'm unsure about this since Food has been their motif both in the show and the novel and they are still sponsored by Ramen and I will hurt them if they take away my are you hungry scene from ep 14) but we'll get something else, more passionate, raw and carnal and honestly that's also romantic to them so haha, no but seriously yeah I think it'll be romantic just not as soft/comedic in the novel. There's no comedy with VP in the show.

Thanks anon! I like to answer questions with full confidence in what I'm seeing but these writers can be unpredictable at any moment, people tend to start to fail their expectations when pressure and too much weight is added to them and for these writers and directors they've added intense weight by having to fit something from all those parts of the novel shoved in the last 4 episodes of season 1, because KP have a fantastic arc upcoming, VP should be the best written romance upcoming in the series, and KP also have their own twisted tale of heartbreak and maturity imbedded there somewhere. It's a lot to ensure that everyone feels balanced and they do tell this story the right way. So I still mourn for the fact we couldn't start VP earlier but I also still trust the team. so i liked the ending a lot, just hated how it was executed. there was so much wasted potential there and im not mad because i know it wasn't just lazy sloppy writing, wakui was on a time limit with shonen jump apparently and had to rush it so i 100% get it and im not mad because of that

but it is a little disappointing having hearing all these cool theories about hanma and the haitanis and the whole reaper and pierriot shit with shuji and sanzu. it was such a good fucking theory and it almost feels canon. i felt like those theories set the bar so high for me so for the ending to be that simple instead lowkey just ruined it for me

i also hate how shuji did all that cuz he was 'bored' like its funny and stuff but i hope he had a bigger role and still hope he does. like i still dont beleieve he had no set purpose in the story aside from just comic relif yk? he was so shady and it wouldve made so much sense if he was the leaper, and even if he wasnt a leaper, he could've still had a role in it

and i hate how the side characters are so cool yet we dont know shit about them. especially the haitanis and kakucho. the most we know about them is so short and brief statements and i feel like there is no canon them. its all fanon versions we all created using small statements and facts from their sheets to create a version of them inside our heads

like before the character sheet, the way we viewed ran was WAY different to how he actually is, just a lazy ass mf that sleeps all day lmfao

and though i hate takeomi, i wanted to know more about him story wise like what was the final thing that set haruchiyo off to the point he abanonded them, changed his name and went to mikey instead. and where was he staying during all that? who was he living with? mucho? did he live alone? how did takeomi get that scar? we know now because of the recent charcater book but its not enough infomation

like if all this stuff was included in the main plot of the story, the manga wouldve been so much better and more inclusive to the side charcters

ive been playing a shit ton of darkest dungeon lately and here's my opinion on which black butler characters would be which class!!

darkest dungeon is really cool btw!! it kind of has the same elements of black butler (fucked up protag, supernatural creatures, mental health being explored in a neat way, and the running theme of everyone being the absolute worst besides like two or three people!). i really recommend it if you love sadistic video games with eldritch horrors!!

finny: OH GOD,,, i had a toughie with this one buuuut- im probably going to go with bounty hunter or leper because of finny's SHEER strength. he's just busted man and you can beat the entire game with leper sooooo yeah! the mean part of me wanted to say abomination but again, thats mean but it's extremely wild to me that they pretty much have the same Tragic Backstory of experimented on for the lols and now just have to deal with it. at least finny got the better end of the stick! poor abomination...

grelle: hellion! she is the biggest girlboss in the game so ofc she'd fit grelle, come on now. the hellion class is extremely broken powerful and puts out an insane amount of damage! a part of me wants to argue grave robber but it doesn't have a lot of flashy and powerful moves- this is mainly considering grelle is the 3rd strongest character in the series iirc.

william: OH ANOTHER HARD ONE- but i think he'd fit being a shieldbreaker! it's a bit of a stretch but hear me out- it's mainly the weapon and it's capabilities that would make william fit the class the most!! also her defensive end seeing as william being pretty good at Not Getting His Shit Wrecked or at least as badly (book of circus is def something i needa rewatch)

undertaker: oh this bitch. i'm probably going to go with the prophet boss! the prophet defied the ancestor by speaking facts and wouldn't die no matter what the ancestor did, kind of like how taker is with the dispatch. also the fact they're both blind but hit like a fucking truck fits!!

ronald: my BOY! now HE'D be grave robber!! he's not really too strong and kinda squishy but can still be formidable if not taken seriously. also the mental image of him hitting an undead with a pickaxe to the face is funny to me-

eric: either highwayman or man-at-arms! both classes are good at taking out a lot of enemies at once and eric is pretty good at killing people <3

alan: OUGH another hard one- i think character wise (more than attack wise), he'd def fit the leper. the leper goes through it and so does alan yet they still kick ass and get the job done!

othello: this dummy! i think antiquarian would fit! antiquarians are support heroes 100% and then they hit like a truck...! a toy truck...! a toy truck that's a stuffie...! unless you get a hit off with "nervous stab" but it's not really all that worth it. OH and the move "protect me" that's pretty much the same as othello using grelle as a meat shield fits.

archanea banner is actually not bad imo. yumina is cool and i actually kinda like the character development she has from being separated from her twin. i think her being somewhat younger than like. miranda/etc/ other young-ish royalty kept as prisoners of war is compelling, like shes trying to be responsible and act mature despite being a kid and also has the advantage of no love story angle like the others

castor/kashim is cool too, ive seen him around recently and im glad he got in. something abt somewhat pathetic/cowardly yet extremely understandable/relatable ghb archanea bois i am totally digging, w matthis last yr too. caeda and merric are by no means bad choices for the special variants, and im partial to those two + marth as a trio (main lord + soft mage boi + pegasus princess is so peak f e trio content honestly. my original f e parody thingy has that same dynamic as well), esp since the other banner characters are related to them (castor -> caeda and arlen -> merric). and arlennnn elreannnn im screaming in the club congrats on getting in!!! and thank u for coming home to me too. since yumina also came home and castor is ghb ive gotten everyone i remotely want from this banner lol. time to save for the next one

as far as the story chapter i want hresvelger and nidhoggr to prosper and thrive. esp loving nidhoggr for calling out the main characters on their bs. i know were supposed to side w them but honestly im siding w nidhoggr. this fucking child got away with torturing and killing people for years, and just bc she decides she wants to be buddies with her much-older crush from the country she invaded and slaughtered for years means thats all in the past if she believes or whatever. idk they just do not make these protagonists likeable in my opinion. like idk i think theres three basic tiers to protagonists. 1. i love them i want them to succeed. 2. i dont love them but i realize that they should morally overcome whatever they need to, or rather its the better outcome if they do. and 3. i hate them and the story would be better off if these shitheads were just defeated or whatever. and honestly a lot of gacha games are the third category.

for actual plot not to be that guy but i feel like it could be the first step in kasumiverse. for the first few real time months kasumiverse lays low, but in the wake of elanor's resignment from writing publicity for the royal family, in order to fill that void and assert askr/embla dominance for the masses, kasumi and a small squad are sent to embla. they accidentally meet nidhoggr, and kasumi realizes abt the healing power of yggdrassilians.

possibly it starts when the squad first run into eadgyth, a young askran whose parents were emblians, and is being treated like a figurepiece by the order of heroes' supporters. but shes just such a one track absolutely beethovinian classicaloid mind that she doesnt care, for she wants to solve every mystery and uncover the true secret of the worldtree.

kasumi and the others are sent, along with the still figurehead-treated eadgyth, to embla for the ceremony or whatever- eadgyth for publicity and kasumisquad as bodyguards for the order. the chapter 5/6? events happen and they run into nidhoggr? kasumi also learns abt hresvelger and the rest of the worldtree, which like. eadgyth pumps her fist like "i knew it!!!" kasumisquad book 5/6/8 be like "we picked up a weird child" whereas 7 is like "my sexy femme fatale friend got killed offscreen and im having a breakdown"

like considering her backstory is not completely revealed im still not 100 percent sure but honestly ivy is cementing herself really early as a contender for at least like a geisha/wuwu level "yea they cool" character. i like that (so far) her family in her backstory are actually loving and caring, and doesnt have a gender bias pitting one gender parent as evil and the other as a saint like other characters. i also like her past/present/future time theme too (tho after b7 i am wary. like it could be cool but it could be incredibly disappointing :/ ) but more to the point she brought the return of the king b skin antonio with her!!! b skin antonio + cn anni shop package ricky!!!!!! we eatin good bois. looks like music bois are back on the (metaphorical) menu. and with ricky finally getting non coa/mary related content in that like. postcard goods im rlly happy. also ricky seems like he could be a ghost too, considering his skin seems to be called ghost sail. posthumous anniv ricky is the dream honestly.

Personality wise, Ernest is framed as an idiot, but he's actually pretty verbose and has a lot of obscure knowledge about random things. He's also a prolific inventor, despite his inventions usually going awry. However, he's somewhat of a lateral thinker, often makes malapropisms in his speeches (which, btw, he monologues a lot), is clumsy, and struggles with math and reading. He also can't seem to tell that Vern doesn't like him or that his behaviour toward Vern in a lot of the ads is inappropriate... basically this guy is neurodivergent as fuck. He's also hardworking, often in janitorial positions where he gets little respect from higher-ups, but he tends to have grander aspirations that he may or may not achieve by the end of any given movie.

Just as details about his backstory are inconsistent, so are the finer points of his personality; in the ads he can be a little more actively malicious when it comes to destroying Vern's property, but in the movies he's a real sweetheart most of the time. He's also highly overconfident and likes to brag, but almost every movie has a moment where he realizes he's messed up and gets very down on himself about it. He often hangs out with kids and can be childlike himself in a lot of ways (his optimism, his boundless enthusiasm and energy, some of his interests) but knows how to step up and be an adult; in fact, he can be quite paternal when he needs to.

the fact that ernest is an inventor has always been my favourite quality of his! my favourite little detail about his personality shows through set design is 100% in ernest goes to jail when his place is swapped with the criminal (i dont remember his name, sorry) and once he goes to ernest's house, he turns on the light and all these cool inventions he's made with bits of candy and candy wrappers stuck to them come on and start wirring and working and doin' random stuff!!

ernest being nuerodivergent (coded?) in the way where it's shown through comedy but he's never laughed at is another thing i love about his character and his part in the movies. he's cool, the way he works things out are accidental, never seem to make sense to anyone but himself yet they always work out because he knows what he's doing!!

i didnt know he was kind of an asshole in the commercials, though. id imagine with such a short space of time, a joke is very limited to like a minute at most & a much sharper personality and memorable acts r more appealing. love his sweetheart side tho!!

I kinda feel wrong for disliking and scolding the show through and through so I got an idea to list and talk about the things that I LIKED in the show. Plus I think thats much healthier than looking for negative things to scrutinize

Russian character representation: It was very impressive to me how Buffrog was portrayed in the show and his development in general was very nice. Usually “Russian” characters are used as a means of propaganda against Russians and russian characters are either 100% irredemable villains or ridiculously erratic. Buffrog wasn’t crazy or evil, he was just a monster with personal things, and he was also rational and had a huge character development, 10/10 I never really paid attention but now I realize how great it was that there was zero bias or even zero stereotyping toward Buffrog’s character in the show. 

Well written domestic abuse victim (About Ludo) : When I watch older scenes with Ludo in them, I realize that there are many details in his behavior that hint on his unhealthy background. And that stayed sonsistent throughout the entire show, which is actually so..great? Ludo is one of the most consistently written characters? and he’s also relatable to viewers? That’s actually such an incredible achievement. Even in small gestures, in what he says, I can see the influence of his past. In season 1 Ludo acted the same way as Brudo acted toward him, Ludo treated his monster army like his children, but he constantly abused them because that’s what he knew. Even in a small scene when Toffee was talking badly about him, Ludo said in a stern voice “Toffee, What are you doing?” which is exactly how a strict parent talks to their child. ALSO the scene where Ludo touched Toffee’s arm and slightly pet it, it could also be interpreted as him trying to show “parental affection” toward the lizard aka “You did so well im proud of you” but because he doesnt know how to show pride in someone, it looks awkward. The way how Ludo tries to persuade his monsters to trust him over Toffee was the exact same way as abusive parents act toward their kids “I raised you. I took you in” when they want to win in an argument. The way how Ludo acted in season 1 fit So well in his backstory it blows my mind. Also because - according to his past, he was not independent and was stuck with his family for most of his life, meaning that, despite hating his parents (for very valid reasons), family was the only thing he knew. So essentially, Ludo sees everything and everyone in the prism of “family or stranger”. Anyone he wants to be a part of his life is essentially his “kid” but because of having never known parental love, he thinks others are his “items” that he “owns”. 

Just Toffee’s existence in the show: Toffee is an incredibly written villain who didnt follow the typical tropes aka “I will reveal all my plans to the hero because I know they’ll die by my hand anyway”. His design is also super good, its simple but recognizable. Just the fact alone that Ms. Nefcy created him makes me feel very much in awe toward her. And what was also so cool to me, was that Toffee was a serious character in a very comedic show (in season 1) and yet it didnt ruin neither the character nor the show’s flow. Also there was No any cliche where a villain waits too long or gets overly dramatic, he just finished his enemies off the second he got the chance to

Just Eclipsa’s existence in the show: I think I dont have to speak of this one because everybody would say the same as what id say about her..

Tom Lucitor’s development: It was just so nice and consistent(?), and it felt believable. Plus it makes Tom a good role model for people who struggle with anger issues and it is so great that the show didn’t demonize anger issues and people who struggle with being too possessive through his character. Btw it is also great that Tom showed emotions and was an emotional character, it did not feed into toxic masculinity trends which i find admirable

aaaaaa YES i love this question!!!!! i don't think it's been super talked about in the fic yet. maybe vaguely referenced but not many details. le rambles under the cut:

they first met shortly after logan hired remus as his intern!! they were both immediately attracted to each other, which they handled in,,, different ways lol (janus basically just alternated between staring at remus's lips and staring at remus’s pecs for the entire conversation they had, while meanwhile remus actually like. used words and communication to be like "hey you're very pretty are you single" shkfdjhf). they proceeded to immediately get into a long rambly conversation and bonded and realized they really liked each other's personalities too <3 remus wanted to like. fully ask janus out on a date right away, but also he got the vibes that janus was Nervous about that idea, so he let it go and just kind of waited to see if it ever seemed like a good time.

he was correct that janus was Very nervous about either of them pursuing the other, bc their dating life had been. not fantastic. for a while at that point—most dudes in their early-to-mid 20s they'd met before remus were not super excited about the idea of dating someone with a 8-9 year old child. sometimes in a really nasty gross way about janus having had patton when they were so young, but more often in a polite "yeah i don't think we're compatible/i'm not ready for that kind of commitment/this is a dealbreaker for me, sorry" way. so janus has developed a pretty solid fear of rejection, a lot of bitterness about that rejection because she loves patton so much and it really sucks that none of the guys he's dated have seen his kid in the same way she does, and also a lot of cynicism around the idea of dating in general. but they really really liked remus right off the bat, and he was immediately a fantastic ally in terms of trans stuff, and they thought he was very attractive, and so they kind of cautiously started to flirt back. and the next couple of months were full of them continuing to bond and flirt and remus just very gently slowly drawing janus out of her shell and trying really hard to make sure they took things at janus's pace.

for a while janus didn't even tell remus about patton. bc he was scared. but eventually they got to the point where 1) janus was beginning to really trust remus and thought maybe it would be okay 2) janus was like "i actually really really want to date him seriously, so if this would make him reject me, i want to know now." and that conversation went really well of course, remus absolutely adores children and is really good with them and was absolutely delighted to learn about patton's existence. and janus was very delighted and relieved and was starting to feel ready to actually talk about their feelings with remus and potentially start dating.

and THEN. remus at this point had gotten to know janus pretty well. and in fact he’d started recognizing her when he saw her shapeshifted into other forms. but he wasn’t 100% sure if he was right or if he was just totally imagining it. so one day, janus was shapeshifted into a totally different body and was talking with a random other super, and remus also happened to be present doing some intern task or whatever. janus didn’t know that remus recognized her. remus, wanting to check if he was correct and it was janus, but not sure if the other random super was supposed to know it was janus or not, called janus one of the lil flirty nicknames he had for them. he assumed that if he was correct and this was janus, she would respond in kind like usual. HOWEVER janus wildly misinterpreted this, because. most people cannot recognize him when he is shapeshifted. like at that point really only patton could. so janus assumed remus had no idea it was them, and came to the conclusion “oh. oh i guess he just flirts with everyone. and i thought i was special to him and was wrong. okay” and. was so so disappointed because they really liked remus and had hoped that things might work out with him. remus meanwhile assumed that, because janus did not acknowledge recognizing the nickname he called them, that he had been incorrect and that this wasn’t janus after all. and was surprised and confused and disappointed when janus started being much more distant with him when they hung out. they kept this up for a couple of weeks and both angsted about it a ton before somehow discovering the miscommunication, and remus immediately was like “NO NO omg you are. so special to me” and like reassured them lots and also they were both like “wow remus has developed the ability to recognize janus when shapeshifted,,,,, that’s,,,, a big deal /pos” and just. it was a very sweet tender soft conversation. and they definitely almost kissed before janus panicked and stopped. so they did not Quite actually get together at that point but they also were both pretty certain that they both wanted to, and both kind of started planning how to ask the other one out for real.

HOWEVER THEN. some random young new supervillain moved to town. and instead of like joining the villains’ guild and getting involved with the super community in a normal way, they were like “i am so ambitious and up-and-coming. i am going to fight the TOP HERO IN THE CITY to establish myself. me who basically just graduated superschool. yes. i want to fight the famous dr logic. i will definitely win, and his very comitted powerful nemesis who is the boss of all the villains in this town will definitely not be a problem i have to deal with ever. this is a great plan with 0 flaws.” to achieve this goal, they just. kidnapped remus. and sent logan a message being like “if you want to rescue him come fight me at x time and location.” logan upon receiving the message was like “that is. so stupid. im not even going to deal with this person, virgil will definitely be annoyed enough to deal with them for me” (he was correct, virgil was not happy about a random newbie trying to mess with his boyfriend nemesis, and proceeded to fight the new villain, easily win, give them some very annoyed life-lesson-type advice, and make them leave and go find somewhere else to start their career). HOWEVER. logan also was like “but also they did kidnap remus and that. is a big problem that needs to be addressed.” and he didn’t want to go in and be seen rescuing remus himself, because that would confirm that any villain who wanted to get his attention could do it by hurting remus, and potentially put remus in much more danger in future; he also didn’t want to not do anything, obviously, because remus needed to be rescued.

so janus went to rescue remus hehehe. they shapeshifted into a guard, got in, and then fought all the other guards while remus was like tied up and watching and was very much like “wow,,,, janus beating people up for me is,,,, really hot” skdjfhgdsk. and then for reasons of They’re Gay And It’s Cute, the best way to escape was to fly out, so janus got to bridal carry remus as they escaped. it was adorable. she got him to safety and then stopped on a random rooftop to check in and make sure remus was okay. he had a bunch of minor to moderate injuries, but kept insisting he was fine as janus patched him up. but once janus had done that and satisfied himself that remus was okay, the two of them just kind of took a little while to relax and breathe and recover, and just like. sat on the rooftop and watched the clouds and talked. and flirted. a lot. and then remus made a stupid joke of some kind or another and janus was all giggly and was like “omg shut up” and remus of course was immediately like “>:D make me” and janus was like “,,,,,actually yes” and kissed him <3 and then they kissed some more and talked and were like “yes we should date” and planned an Actual Date to go see a movie later that week. however remus always insists that janus rescuing him from being kidnapped was their actual first date and janus is always like “NO” sjkfdhdlgkh. 

all of this i am trying to make into a cute lil prequel story to eventually post. because i love them sm. but yes that is the story of how they met and also how they got together thank u for asking i adore them and could talk about them forever they are so so in love and it’s precious akjshfdkglh

as for MUSES: HISAO is such a rat i love him SO MUCH. i want to write more with him and kaneki ofc -- they have such a funny dynamic and even if ken pushes him around he really loves his company :) he’s starting to see him as a dad figure that he always craved as a kid and it makes me....angsty. 12/10!!!!! AGELOS is a character i just KNOW elli’s savior complex would just jump out at. i havent interacted with him yet but i just read his bio / interactions and ;w; WEEP!!!!  i’m taking him away from u bc ur too mean to him. i wanna kiss their little forehead and tell them tht theyve done enough.

IZZABEL is so interesting to me ! i havent interacted with them yet, but i see her threads on my dash with other ppl and im always just so ENTRANCED by her. the best word i can use to describe her is just haunting. they are another oc i just wanna hug and say everything will be okay!!!!! i hope she finds peace at one point UGH. deserved. ELLIOT has such an intriguing backstory! the mystique of finding out that you dont actually know as much as you thought you did about someone is always a harrowing experience, and i feel like that could be explored so well within lovelace’s psyche. mwah i love that trope tldr LOL. 

i haven’t yet interacted with JUNIOR, but i’m always SO excited to see his threads on my dash. he is the literal definition of ‘ little shit ‘ , and i feel like sekiko would wanna punt him across a football field. i crave that interaction LOL. i don’t know much about him quite yet, but i want to learn ! hanako being his fc fits ur blogs aesthetic too oml...pats him on the head. he seems like someone who would bite. does he bite? DAEJEON yes sirrrrr!!!! im proud to say i was the first like on ur first starter call for him after his creation. clocked in a .4076 miliseconds because i’m just built that different. i love the interaction that he and elli held, and i think they could have a really cute platonic/sibling dynamic!! she just needs to be looked after 24/7 she gets into so much trouble just because of her naivete all the time. another possible plot could be them working together seeing that she interns in cyber forensics :) i always love ocs with chainsawman characters as a fc and MIER is no exception!! i love the uncanny valley vibe he has going and want to see more of him on my dash!!!! LET ME INTERACT WITH HIM!!!!
