People calling Hobie×Miles (punkflower) shippers proshippers as if we didn't ship them for longer than the movie even came out will always be crazy to me.

I've seen lots of people sending threats, or reporting people because they made punkflower, goldenflower (pavxhobie), ghostbyte (gwenxmargo), flowerbyte (margoxmiles), etc, arts or videos. Going to assume that it isn't because most of these ships are POCs ships, there's just literally no point to do that.

First of all, there's no confirmation of hobie's age. If ur basing urself of that one interview, then it was of the CONCEPT of hobie, and even so remember it was only one person who said it. Its heavily implied thats he's a teenager throughout the movie. (Also in the art book, its said that he's slightly older than Miles).

For the thing about him going to the pub and all, minors can and will go in pubs, (not saying that its always legal) are yall living under a rock or just dense on purpose? Teenagers do wtv the fuck they want, even when theyre not allowed to. Youre all going to tell me teenagers respect the rules of not drinking and go to clubs becuz theyre underage? Come off it. Also hobie literally merked his president and u think he'd draw the line at drinking alcohol as a minor? HA.

Aside from that, to be fair to everyone, the directors keeps on changing what they're saying about hobies age, one day they'll say and imply he's a minor and the next second say he's an adult. It's like they all have different idea of this character's age. So, nothing is really comfimed, and his age is really up to interpretation.

Now that we're past THAT point, the other kind of people talking about his age are people saying "oh but he looks old" "that man is most definitely 30yo" "there's no way he's underage" things of the sort, u get it. And I'm just over here like??? Why is it impossible for you to think that this guy could be a teen? Is it the air? The wrinkles? What makes it seem like for you that there's no way he could be around the other teens' age? And 30??? Cmon. People often assume black people are older than they look, which is a universal experience for all of us. Did none of u ever see a blk teen who doesnt have a baby face? Because thats literally what hobie looks like to me. To others we can seem too "mature" for our age, or just look too "old" to be the age we say we are, so is it really impossible for him to be a teenager? Think about it.

(Speaking of him being black, this discourse turned into some kind of racist thing that honestly was not unexpected at all. Yall come over here shitting on people talking and educating u about a character they relate to cuz hes like them, and the representation is making them go bonkers. I don't know why yall can just sit ur arses and listen for a bit, its not that difficult tbh. And dont get me started on the mischaracterisation of his character. Marking him as "an angry black man"? Really? Be. Fucking. Original.)

Same goes with Margo?? Yeah in the comics she's in college, but cmon now u guys know damn well she's a teenager in atsv😭. Gwen is also much older in the comics but i never see anyone talk about it, so what does that mean???The only reasons I can see that you all don't want Miles & margo to be together is because you're all stuck on the milesxgwen ship. News everyone, other ships exist, not everyone is going to like the same ships as you, so either move on or stop being on the Internet.

Also, the thing about pav being 13 is bonkers, where'd u even get that from? I need to know asap. "Oh, but he has a gf!" Yeah? Well he has two hands. (Idk why u all act as if that has ever stopped anyone)

Everything just seem like a race thing to me tbh.

The movies might be inspired from the comics, but not everything is going to be 100% the same. For exemple: gwen is 2 yrs older than Miles in the comics, but in movies she's only 15 months older, Jess Drew is white in the comics and black in the movie, Miguel O'hara is white passing in the comics, compared to his version in atsv where he has brown skin, lyla's disign is also different.

You get it? Things are going to differ as much as things are going to be the same, because (get ready!!) this is the multiverse! Just as earth-616 is just one universe in all the marvel comics, atsv is another universe.

All in all, im not saying u can't view them as adults, or wtv u want, thats ur interpretation, but don't go around being pissy at people around u cuz they have different point of views.

Okay, so you know who I’ve always thought should really be into fantasy and DnD? Asher, and since canon hasn’t yet confirmed he loves these things, you can be his introduction!

The combination of your personality types and your being a writer gives me the image of an emotional and emotionally intelligent person, which I think is a good match for Asher who is also pretty emotionally intelligent! I think your vibes would really match, and together you two could be, like, the heart of the Shaw Pack as the Beta and his mate. Also, Asher is some sort of flavor of neurodivergent, and I love making ND4ND pairs, ya know?

Your life together would be so FUN, I’m actually jealous. I think getting Asher into DnD and games would be such a treat, listening to TAZ together, helping him learn rules and the different systems, maybe putting together a campaign with Angel and Davey because Angel would be a fuckin bomb DM, I feel it in my heart. He’d also be such a lovely partner for a writer. For a writer who loves fantasy, OC’s, and roleplay games, Guy is a sure shoe-in for a runner-up! I think he and Asher have a lot of similarities, but I went with Asher because he struck me as a better match for an introvert. For a Lasko kinnie, I had to choose Aaron as another contender because they’re my favorite Redacted rarepair, and I’ve been meaning to write something for that shop for a while.

steve harrington x fem (implied) reader, college au, part 1 <3

summary: you’ve never really been fond of steve harrington. but your best friend is his roommate and theyre hitting it off pretty good, so you just might have to see him every day for the next four years. so maybe making him slightly more tolerable wouldnt hurt..

The books weighed heavy in my arms as i stood outside of the crappy off campus apartment my best friend now lives in. Sure, i havent been inside yet, but knowing Eddie, i was 1000% sure that it was some sort of fucked up. I had knocked a few seconds ago, and behind the door i could hear Eddie tripping over shit in his journey to let me in.

“Hellooo, M’lady.” He smiled brightly, taking the top half of my book load, and letting me into the dorm.

“Stop calling me that, asshole.” I snorted, closing the door behind me with a bump of my hip.

“Nope. Not until you finally decide to visit me for a reason other than making me study. We havent even started classes yet, you freak” He chuckled, making his way into the small kitchen area for a what i thought was a beer. Until he pulled two of like 13 juice boxes out of the small fridge.

“Its that.. Is that a juice box, Edward?” “Okay i can explain. My roommate is totally the party animal type, so all my good stuff stays in my room. Actually I think you might, oh i dont know, i think you might know him.” He shrugged, smirking and handing me my juicebox.

“Doubt it, never left Hawkins in my whole life. Now enough bull, I need to finish making my flashcards before classes start, which one is your room?” I said, looking through the doors to find the messier of the two.

“Y/N, Honey, thats not-“ Eddie tried to help, but I was determined to start the stupid flashcards. Until I found out who his goddamn roommate was.

“Your roommate is Steve Harrington?” I looked up at Eddie, who was now leaning against the doorframe, looking at me smugly.

“His roommate is Steve Harrington. Nice to see you four eyes. Someone grew over the summer, lost the glasses too, I see?” He smirked, placing the box in his arms labeled “hair shit” on his bed carefully.

“Im nineteen years old, dickhead. I dont grow anymore, and yes I lost the glasses. Eddie please show me to your room, I would like to start my flashcards”

“Shes still like this? Come on Y/n/n, loosen up a little I mean you got out of Hawkins. Its time for you to learn that life isnt all about having your nose in a book.” He said, leading you and Eddie into the living room as he spoke.

“Aw ive been upgraded from four eyes. Im flattered. And Harrington, youre only here because your daddy has money, so its not like youve ever needed to have your nose in a book.” Before Steve could shoot back, Eddie started speaking.

“Okay so now might not be the best time to mention this, but we are kinda trying to plan a movie night right now. So if you arent going to help, I do recommend going to get your roommate.” He asked, eyebrows raised in amusement, as him and Steve silently agreed over tape choices.

“How the hell did you drag Robin into this already Harrington?” I asked, throwing myself onto their slightly uncomfortable couch.

“What do you mean?,” He smirked, “Buckleys my best friend. She is also on snack duty, so if you decided not to stay, be a doll and tell her to hurry up, would you?”He said, leaving the area to go back to his room for more tapes. I groaned loudly, as Eddie aggressively took a seat next to me.

“You knew, and still let me come over? I hate you so much right now, Munson.” I said, laying my head on his shoulder, his crazy hair falling over my eye’s slightly.

“I know, but Harrintons not as bad as he used to be. I promise, M’lady” I could hear the amusement in his voice as he said that. The two of us just sat there in silence for a bit, until Steve came back, and assigned me to ‘decorate the shitty couch duty’.

“I have homework you know, Steve.” I said, snatching the stack of blankets from him. I couldnt see at the time, but Eddie had literally just walked out of the door.

“And I have a movie night to finish planning.” He stated plainly. Something about him and his indifference towards college was really frustrating. But I guess it was to be expected. Hes Steve Harrington.

“You know, former four eyes,” you rolled your eyes at the new nickname, “Im not going anywhere. Youre going to have to get used to me.” He said, placing the stack of tapes planned for later on the Tv stand.

“Youd be much more tolerable if you werent such a.. A you. You party until three in the morning, and dont care if someone ralphs on your lawn. You dont study, you charm your way into passing grades. And we still ended up in the same school. Theres no getting used to that.”

“Well you know, coexisting with you isnt making my life all sunshine and rainbows either. You study, and you study and you study. You get amazing grades, without having to wink at 100 year old teachers. Your friends like you for.. you, not your parents money. So id say its gonna take a while for me to get used to you too.” We were standing in a very awkward silence now, neither caring if Eddie was standing behind either one of us, and if he was its not like we’d notice.

“I have an idea.” I said. I can’t believe youre doing this Y/n. “You dont like that im smarter than you, right? What if.. What if I helped you study?” I could tell he was skeptical, and so was I. I didnt know what hell i was getting myself into then.

“Whats in it for me?” He said, bending down in front of the couch to start moving the equally shitty coffee table.

“You get to teach me how to have a good time,” Seeing the look on his face I felt the need to elaborate. Loudly, “NOT THAT WAY. I mean you can, take me out on the town or whatever it is you do. Bowling, drinking, dancing, whatever the hell it is you deem fun.” Now he was smiling and I couldnt tell if it was a smile that should make me embarrassed and run full speed, and probably trip, out of the apartment.

“Okay. But, i get to pick where I take you and when. You can pick what we study I guess. Hey maybe that stick thats been up your ass for the last nineteen years will finally disappear.”

“Haha, very funny Steve. Im being serious though. You teach me to not be a prick, I make you less of an absolute dumbass, and hope it makes you more tolerable.” I absolutely could not believe id even offer to do something like this, but there was no way in hell id spend the next four years hating his guts. Im with Eddie 25/8 and apparently hes tight with Robin. Hating Steve would fuck everything up. Which is why i wasn’t entirely suprised when he said,

“Okay. But only because id pay good money to see you consume alcohal, Y/n/n.” He said, a somewhat serious, and very rare, look on his face.

“Cool. Cool cool cool. So you think we should like.. plan it? Or is not planning things part of the Steve Harrington Slutty Popular Rich Kid experience?” I asked, as began to turn the coffee table around to make a little snack stand. Creative.

“Oh it’s definitely part of the experience. But planning might help, hows after the movie sound?”

“I have to study after the movie, Steve. Im already moving it back because of your spontaneous attack movie night. “

“So after the movie? Perfect”

Now i know its been said to death but to say it again i think the reason american comics are doing poorly in comparison to japanese as well as indie comics is because american comics (marvel and dc mainly) arent linear

Ask someone where to start reading iron man and theyll give you a wacky ass reading order of 12 different spin off prequels and 13 ministories

Where should i start one piece? chapter one. simple as.

(just using one piece as example)

Another reason is because marvel and dc more often than not are centred around super heroes, and usually the same super heroes we’ve seen for the past 60 years.

which, is cool and all but most people have seen it already, theres nothing new happening aside from “WOW ALTERNATE UNIVERSE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE!!!”

Indie comics however tell whatever the hell story they want! same with manga, and its usually in a simple, linear, easy to digest format.

(and theyre all one size book if youre buying physical copies(seriously i hate when books in reading order arent all the same size for american comics))

Now dont get me wrong, i love the classics. I think batman is a cool character, but do we really need another batman origin story movie?

Anyways this is just a rant idk where to go from here pff

i'm literally just here to rant and i'm so fucking upset rn please don't comment if you don't agree with me i will literally start crying.

i'm pissed.

i'm so fucking pissed that they're making a harry potter reboot. it's so fucking useless. i get that it's gonna be a "faithful" adaptation to the books but we don't fucking need it. PLUS jk bitchface is literally an producer or some shit like no i don't wanna support a transphobic racist birch thanks hbo. but like. EVERY SINGLE BOOK TO MOVIE ADAPTATION is different from the books. EVERY SINGLE ONE. and i don't see people making a maze runner or hunger games reboot. cause that sounds ridiculous. THEYRE FINE. that's why the books are still relevant. besides we have fan fiction we have the books and we have the movies. we don't need a fucking reboot. its not even gonna be good cause we have these actors and characters that we've followed along for like 10 years and some of them aren't even with us anymore. like. they grew up during this series. you can't just fucking redo that with new kids. and it makes me so fucking pissed off cause it's literally just a money grab and it's gonna suck and i'm just really pissed off about it. and i don't want it.

AND THEN I FIND OUT THEYRE MAKING A TWILIGHT REBOOT TOO?!?

the movies sucked. they were bad yes. the books are decent. but everyone loves twilight BECAUSE it's sucks and it's something everyone can agree on and make fun of while still enjoying watching it at least a little bit. that's the fun part about it. the memes.

now i don't care as much about the twilight reboot as i do the harry potter one but still it's the whole premise of it.

Stolas was a pretty obvious choice for you to be honest. Your interests and aesthetics click and just like you he’s chill but then pulls out the most chaotic actions out of nowhere.

You two met at night at one of those libraries you only see on pinterest. He honestly just came in cuz he was bored and wished to seek a recent human astronomy book. He found you peacefully reading a mythology book in the corner and was gonna leave you alone till he couldn’t help himself but comment on it. You were so laidback and easy going that you two had a nice conversation where he taught you a few things about mythology (given his age and position he does have an interest in those subjects). It was nice and you two decided to do it every month, then every two weeks and you see where it is going. Stolas just likes coming to you to cool off with no repercussions. It’s what made him fall for you. He confessed after inviting you to watch the stars or a movie he thinks you’d like (high chance you already watched it before but shhh). He confess and also tell you real quick about his marriage situation in case you want out.

Stolas is a caring and passionate lover. His love language is mostly affection and quality time but I believe he’ll wait till you’re ready if you catch my drift. He LOVES spoiling you with numerous gifts and dates. He’d be pretty upset (pouty) if he’s not your go to contact when you need help. He wants to be someone you can rely on, a safe space for you just like you are for him. Despite his extraverted self, Stolas enjoys some home time. Especially with you. He actually purchases a house in the human world and spends most of his time there now. He wants (begs) you to move in with him. This house has a huge library, two studies, a music room and a very much needed coffee corner. Yeah with those machines you see on tiktok with all the material. Stolas isn’t a morning person at all so he needs his daily coffee and only accepts premium quality. He invested in a home cinema and loves binge watching with you. Those are all things he didn’t get to do often so discovering them with you is a priceless experience in his eyes. Horror doesn’t bother him at all and he can show you much better horror tbh. Stolas also likes analyzing things with you (he listens and chimes in) and actually keeps up with your fixations really well. His favorite thing to do at home is to stay glued to your side.

Stolas often drags you to dance with him in the music room. He is attentive to your tastes and shows you his favorite pieces too! In general he is an attentive lover who adapts to your needs without being overbearing. If you accept his flaws your relation will be…stellar.

I did hesitate between a few characters (mainly Vaggie) but in the end Husk won. He’s chill but knows how to have fun. And he’s loyal.

You were at the hotel when you got to know Husk. He was being his usual snarky self but after a few nights (and talks) he slowly became friendlier. He even cracked jokes with you! Music definitely got the two of you to bond. You became someone he felt at ease with. The moment Husk considered sharing some of his problems with you he knew he fell, and fell hard. He started being more attentive to your needs and lost in your voice during your conversations. Everyone knew he was in love so one night they somehow managed to leave the two alone for the night. That’s when he confessed, knowing he couldn’t hold it in any longer.

As mentioned beforehand, Husk is a very attentive boyfriend. His love language is mostly acts of service and some quality time. He makes you your favorite drinks and will even learn the ways of a coffee barista for you. He’s proud of the way he makes you smile and feel loved as well as being your shoulder to vent to. Husk knows he has a way with words and people to make them feel at ease, he’d say it’s a positive trait of his that’s why he wants you to be included in it. Plus he gives good advices for someone with so many bad decisions. Husk likes going on weekly dates with you (besides dinner together every night that he cooks) to watch new movies. He’s mostly a domestic guy so going out in public is something he’d only do for you.

Husk calm demeanor is really helpful when you start getting irrational. He always help you keep a head on your shoulders and is the rational voice. Doesn’t mean he won’t encourage you to go ape shit when someone deserves it. While he prefers the calm, Husk still enjoys your occasional chaotic moments. He knows you try to lessen them for him but isn’t fully opposed to them as long as you’re safe. Low chance he’ll join you but some nagging will work. People are surprised that he’s with someone way more energetic than him but he just shoots some lovey dovey comment and they shut it. Angel is probably your biggest cheerleader in the relationship, he gives a lot of (sometimes helpful) advices to Husk.

While your hobbies differ greatly, I can see Husk appreciating them a lot. Especially your artistic side that he fully encouraged. He’s always there when you practice, even when you get frustrated or have an art block. Husk will become your hype man and do his best to motivate you. He probably got the binge watching habit from you much to Alastor dismay and he actually gets into soap operas….it’s funny to watch. Husk likes listening to you analyze or talk about greek mythology. He’s not great at that but tries to participate (he likes listening to your voice).

Husk will lessen his drinking habits with you. He wants to be the best version of himself for you just like you are for him. He’s really trying and it’s commendable. His gambling is another issue and he needs another fixation for him to stop. I guess with you it could become watching tv as it takes up a lot of his time (not saying that in a negative way but you see what I mean). Aesthetically talking, you two also fit together if we judge by clothing type and your personal aesthetic. Overall he might not be the best guy but he’s willing to change for his love.

Tell me some of ur headcanons, no matter how obscure, small, or seemingly insignificant

SRY THIS TOOK SO LONGGGG i. forgort BUT HERE R A FEW !!! :D some of these are my own and some of these are me parroting things ive heard from the haunted discord that i love (u should totally join the discord btw its fun i can give an inv to anyone not already there if anyone wants one!!)

-Drakes issues regarding tone and reading the room, such as 1) his default mode of speaking being thru sarcasm (no hes really not always trying to be rude, thats just how he communicates 😭), and 2) cracking jokes or quips at inappropriate times (like when graysons house was burning down and drake was all like “wow grayson sure does love his secret hatches lawl” and “he should really rethink his escape routes for next time haha!” like drake this is NOT THE TIME). Im not saying hes NOT sassy or rude (because he totally is <3) but like. its not ALWAYS ON PURPOSE OK LMAO he is autistic 🫶

-somewhat related to this is that i hc that he says cheesy lines like “erm… hes RIGHT behind me isnt he” and “um guys, you MIGHT wanna take a look at this…” all the time, and he does so bcs he repeats phrases hes read in books (or from movies/shows he saw before traveling to the future or whatever) a lot. either that or he just Says That Stuff which is almost funnier

-drakes sleeping schedule SUCKS dude and a big parta that is cuz enderman are nocturnal and his internal clock is all messed up. (the water up on his mountain canonically helps him sleep tho im pretty sure?)

-his bodys kinda awkward to move around in, and hes always tripping over his feet or bumping into stuff (hes just like me fr….)

-this ones odd, but the subspecies of enderman that drake is fused(??) with have rings all over their body that they use to light up dark areas (such as caves), and to communicate (blinking lights like fireflies, bright flashes to intimidate others, are dim when sick, etc). Theyre able to control this using their natural magic or whatever. HOWEVERRR drake is unable to control his himself! His rings are stuck at a set brightness, and he cant “turn them off”, leading him to always be expelling a small but steady amount of magic. This is part of why he runs out of mana faster than other magic users/enderman, and is part of why he tries not to waste his mana when possible.

-related to above, hes not ab magic doesnt last very long, but is very volatile and powerful in bursts. this is the OTHER reason he doesnt use magic willy nilly .. he has to learn how to harness it properly or else he might end up hurting people by accident (this might literally be canon but i thought id mention it anyway)

-in the haunting one, hes always stating things abt himself that we never actually get to see (like when he calls himself the builder, or good at parkour, or when armen said that he had a problem with breaking windows???? 😭) so i like to think that those are just collins memories slipping thru the cracks, and those memories dont rly belong to/are about drake at all. theres probably other shared fuzzy memories he has from collin too (like ruby shire perhaps) so thats super fun to play with!! I think this might actually be also canon but yk

-ARMEN iiii love this guy ok so i love to hc that, after hes revived/saved (IF you want to go that route!), he comes back not dead, but not quite alive either…. hes like sorta half and half to me lol. or maybe hes alive, but coming back to life has some side effects (like being cold all the time for example). Hes also suuuper sleepy all the time after hes saved LET HIM SNOOZE dude.

as much as it pains me, I also love the hc that armen comes back with his memory wiped (i think this is close to where the intended canon was supposed to head as well!). You can either go the “his memory is totally wiped, which effectively makes him a new person” route, the “his memory is wiped back to the fall into the lava, right before HB possessed him” route, or the “his memory gets wiped to before HB was involved in his life whatsoever” route. I like all 3 options aaaah idk what my favorite is!!! i’ll probably talk in depth abt these in a different post later bcs the fact that it adds more parallels between him and collin/drake makes me insane. either way he will sometimes have unexplainable deja-vu and things will feel familiar to him.

-armen is super cold all the time (always wearing sweaters and stuff) while drake is super warm all the time (always wearing thin clothes. but this is cuz hes always expelling some sorta magical energy involuntarily, so when he runs outta mana he gets cold as well) this isnt important or anything i just like it :3c

-i like to think that despite his affinity towards it before the fall, he tries to avoid combat & conflict when possible post-possession/revival. very “uhh im a lover not a fighter haha ..” (<- could kick your butt if he tried) vibes. or maybe he lost all combat ability post revival and totally sucks now !! either way man just wants to chill (he is traumatized)

-MIA shes lowkey scared of being on the water after her and her sisters shipwreck, the day she was captured by the empire. she probably slips back into familiarity when they take over that airship one time tho- maybe she gets an airship of her own in the future o:? haunted group sky pirate crew when 🤨???

-along with magic, she also GETS INTO ALCHEMY/CHEMISTRY !!! its like.. magic ??? without needing to provide any ACTUAL magical power yourself?? thats so fucking sick ok. She and drake do magicy-sciencey experiments together and they end up blowing stuff up a lot. despite what drake says, they BOTH enjoy the chaos.

-mia and armen would be BEST. FRIENDS. i think abt mia armen friendship literally all the time they would be so chaotic and thoughtful with each other i love mia armen friendship sm. maybe mia helps style his hair like hers since its grown out later :] They are so sibling core to me

-related to both yhings above, she shares her love of learning with armen. They learn tons of random stuff together :D chemistry archeology history magic biology etc. Mia loves learning anything she can get her hands on, and armen feels the need to learn everything he missed while he was gone.

(sidenote: if he comes back with completely wiped memory, him learning all different sorts of subjects is him trying to figure out what he enjoys, and who he is as a person. “building himself up from ground zero”. and mias glad to help ): <3)

-MIA AND GRAYSON ARE ALSO SIBLING CORE !!!!!!!!!! you are NOT immune to the “mia is everyones sister” propaganda …. im mind controlling you ….

-grayson my GUY dude ok. not rly a hc and more of an observation but i loooove how hes so serious and pessimistic all the time but hes also like…. friendly (yet distrusting) and silly (devouring and entire cake and being all like “:D” with a flower crown and slimey friend) like idk i just looav that contrast its yummy. cruel world forcing his joyous whimsey into hiding </3

-finds a sickening comfort in loneliness, while also being deeply afraid of it. no it is not healthy. i might have to describe this later, as ive not found the words to do so yet.!!! maybe others can add onto this if they wish :)))

-His wife was fucking awesome ok. She was totally anti-empire and wrote many pamphlets that hurt the emperor & his followers image under an anonymous name that spread around the public like wildfire. Did she initially start dating grayson to get more info on the empire without his knowledge? Was she herself high up in the empires chain of command, helping get grayson the job in the first place? Did grayson know and help his wife with her endeavors(im leaning towards yes but no would be fun)? idk but she was awesome and they committed treason together and were in love

-idk if im totally down with the idea, but graysons wife and/or kid ending up being ALIVE…. MANNN THAT COULD BE SO GOOD. SO DRAMA INDUCING. GRRRR i wanna play with this later

-if i start talking abt drake and grayson friendship i will not shut up about it so ill keep it BREIF ….. they are ambiguously romantic/ALMOST queerplatonic to me. they dont care abt labeling what they are, partially bcs they CANT. they r life partners who hold hands and find comfort in the others consistency and the stability their friendship brings. grayson calls drake his “darling husband” for shits and giggles and drake glares at him (while very obviously smiling). This scene is where Alex's dad tries to get the detective to drop the charges and tries to use his connections to the detectives father to do so but he refuses to drop it.

Maraclea was the lover of a knights templar in the 13th century who died and the knights templar. Uh. Had sex with her dead body. And basically 9 months later he goes back and her skull is moved from her shoulders to on top of her thigh bones which are crossed. He has to protect the skull bcs itll give them grest fortune or whatever

While hes telling her this theres a flashback to Nigel and Alex meeting up at night and uh. Theyre in a morgue.

I dont like where this is going 😣

Well ok. I think the truth is somwhere in the middle. Alex is putting a lot of blame on Nigel for someone who may or may not have killed 2 people to Nigel's 1

God its so hard to collect my thoughts about this film. Also its like 2 am so uh. That doesnt help.

I think Alex had a more dominant role than he let on. Also considering how quick he was to pick up the mantle, idk. I just know while watching this i was surprised by how much Alex killed even as Nigel called himself an instrument for killing. All Nigel did that we know for certain was let a kid fall out of a train. Alex straight up shot Nigels father.

Nigel is more quiet and reclusive and morbid and Alex is more intelligent and outgoing.

Of course Alex makes a point to emphasize how morbid Nigel is and ive already pointed out how i think Alex is an unreliable narrator. Alex is smart. He knew how he needed to tell the story and he succeeded. He got off scot free.

Unfortunately i dont think Nigel would have been able to do that. Nigel was smart but not as smart as Alex. He would have slipped up

So what happened to Susan? I keep going back and forth on this. I think it could go either way. But i hate to say it. I think Nigel did it. This whole thing kinda goes back to the Maraclea thing and Nigel knew about it already. So he kills Susan and guts her so Alex has his Maraclea and he goads his father into killing his mother so he 🤮 has... his...

Basically i think Nigel is more evil but Alex had a bigger part than he lets on

What makes us human: Someone who will love you in all your damaged glory

Do you ever wonder what makes you the way you are? What makes you you? Why are you different from other people? Are you different from other people? Dont we all live the same life deepdown? The same, miserable pattern that makes us not wanting to live it at all sometimes, isnt it the same for you as it is for me? How can we stop it?

The thing is, we cant. We cant stop it, you cant and I cant either. You’ll be sitting on a train. You’ll be lying awake in bed. You’ll be watching a movie; You’ll be laughing. And then, all of a sudden, you’ll be struck by the paralyzig truth: Its not what we do that makes us who we are. Its what we dont do that defines us.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is Someone who will love you in all your damaged glory by Raphael Bob-Waksberg.

Raphael Bob-Waksberg’s name might be similar for a handful of people, because he is the creator and executive producer of the Netflix hit show, Bojack Horseman and he also wrote this book I would like to talk about today. I’m a HUGE fan of Bojack Horseman, there wasnt a single day when I didnt think of this show and I finished it about a year ago, its probably the greatest thing that happened to me, so I was pretty excited when I heard that the creator of it wrote a book and I bought it online as soon as I got my grabby sticky hands on the money. I can tell you, Someone who will love you in all your damaged glory is probably one of the best books I have ever read and it gave me reassuring that yes, Raphael is amazing at writing stories about humans and how they work, how they feel, which isnt suprising how he managed to make a series about human problems and life with an alcoholic horse as a main character.

The book itself is a collection of short stories about love and relationships. There are shorter ones that are about a page or two pages long, but there are chapters that are longer and more elaborated. For example, there was the chapter A Most Blessed And Auspicious Occasion (which I believe our first longer one) about a couple who are about to get married and theyre preparing for their wedding. However, the girlfriend’s family is stressing them out because they dont know how many goats they need to sacrifice for their wedding, and the boyfriend suggests to not sacrifice goats at all and its just super chaotic and super stressful to them and of course, the wedding eds up being super chaotic as well, but it doesnt matter because the couple is happy together.

Another one of these longer ones is We men of science, which is about a scientist Yoni, who discovers an alternative universe at the other side of a door in his office, where he himself exists and his wife herself exists, but theyre his literal opposite. The anti-Yoni is more confident, more positive and his anti-wife isnt pregnant and her personality i also different. Eventually, Yoni befriends the two. He regularly meets them and spends time with them, and eventually the Carl, one of Yoni’s coworker dies and right after that, him and his anti-wife starts having sex and it completely messes everything up, obviously.

This book is filled with many many stories like this, stories that are riddiculous and at the same time thought provoking and I loved it. SO MUCH.

If I could describe this book with one word, I’d say “intimacy”. These stories are very intimate and sometimes hard to read, because some of the quotes perfectly describes what one or another might feel. I personally felt connected to multiple quotes of the book, and it perfectly shows the characters as weak, and vulnerable. Because we are. We are weak and vulnerable, and that makes us human. And Raphael knows and shows that perfectly. Let me show some of my favorite ones:

" “I dont think you really love me; I think you’re just terrified or being alone” and you, gesticulating wildly with the spatula, spat back without thinking, “I am alone; you have no idea how alone I am” as if that were some kind of comeback” – The serial monogamist’s guide to important New York City landmarks

“You had every intention of being depressed forever, but as it turns out, there’s work to be done, meals to eat, movies to see, errands to run. You meant to be in ruins permanently, your misery a monument, a gash across the cold hard earth, but honestly, who has the time for that? Instead, you survived-apparently, you both did- and things are shockingly okay.” -Lunch with the person who dumped you

“-I love you. -I love you too.” -Lies we told each other

“I think you’re afraid of putting yourself out there because you’re afraid of getting hurt, because you are -and I believe this is the clinical term- a fucking coward.” – Up-and-comers

I saw someone make a post about how if you want to analyze the pjo show you have to ask yourself if you would still like it if they casted 20 something yros instead of the Walker, Leah, and Aryan, and iff you wouldn’t like the show if they did that and without the “at least its not the movie” mentality.

The thing is, i definitely wouldnt like the show as much if they had cast adults to play Percy, Annabeth, and Grover, but I don’t think that this reflects negatively on the show. I don’t want to argue with anyone or seem like I’mm picking a fight, which is why im making a separate post, but it made me think about it. I never saw the movies at all, but a bug part of the enjoyment of the show is the fact that theyre kids. A good show needs several things. It needs good casting, good writing, good production, etc. If they had cast people who didnt play the parts well it would have made the show a lot worse, but that’s true of every single show in existence. If you cast someone who doesnt play their part well in a show or movie it makes the show or movie worse.

In this case it is a matter of how far viewers can suspend their disbelief. The show is good because we can see the characters and visibly tell that they are children, which allows a larger degree of suspense of disbelief with the choices they make. Sure, they don’t always do things that are logical or that are the choices we would make if we were in that position, but theyre kids and so we can still believe that somebody would make that choice in that situation. Whereas with an adult its harder to excuse childish behavior. I feel like the writing has been very true to the characters.

I also understand that some people wont like the fact that there has been a lot of variation from the books, but I feel like it has all been done in an effort you make a cohesive adaptation to a tv show. And i think its worked. The show is still very much in the same spirit of the book even with all the changes, and I even like some of the scenes in the show better than the books. However, it’s still fair to not like the changes. I just dont think that its necessary to ask yourself if youd like the show if the actors were adults instead of kids or were people who were worse at playing the roles in order to properly analyze it because its true of every single show that casting is at least a third of what makes a good show, in ny opinion. If your opinion of the show would change if they casted it differently then that’s, in my opinion, normal.

Again, not trying to start an argument or anything, I just saw a post that made me think about it and wanted to talk about my point of view on how casting affects shows. No hate or anything if you disagree, this is all just my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own.

ok uhh okay. spiderverse 2 thoughts. in bullet points for the sake of my churning brain cuz im just not rly sure how i feel abt it rn. like it was a good movie? i enjoyed it it was fast paced i didnt realize 2+ hours went by which also segues into my first thought but like. yeah i have thoughts.

first of all that was like a super weird ending decision to make it a part 1 of 2. zero warning for that. and i sat in that theater till credits bcuz i genuinely thought i was being punked and the movie was going to finish, bcuz it did not at all feel like a place to stop for the movie. it ends like right before the climax?? yes they really. extended themselves damn far for this one and it would be a lot to tie up in like another 45 minutes of movie but also like you couldve done it.. i really dont. understand. like ppl just sat in the movie theater like wait is it done. theyre ending it here? for real? like it wasnt the kind of ending you expect from this movie

animation was obviously gorgeous and insane i dont even need to talk about what eye candy it was. the different styles all together the fight scenes ugh so good yeah yeah everyone knew it would be a trip

rly cannot stress enough what a Direction this sure was. i dont like say it as crit necessarily just like. did they over extend. maybe. they sure Extended. i would expect this maybe for a third movie not a second but they were clearly trying to blow the first one out of the water. it was just.. a lot looser. it needed to be tighter. i dont know what theyre planning for the 3rd movie but i really did not like. vibe with that ending decision

they changed peni’s design slightly and gave her a cooler mech so thats nice. maybe they listened 2 criticisms abt that

i cant decide how i feel abt a lot of the dialogue tbh it rly wasnt my thing a lot of the time like. the changing writers were kind of.. obvious. and there was a LOT of dialogue bcuz this movies purpose seems to be a very Character Driven story to prepare for the next? like theyre TRYING to say stuff thats for sure. also it was rly quippy in a way that i feel has gotten kind of tired with dialogue writing like SOME dialogue was genuinely funny and good to me like i wouldnt say it was BAD or something (some of it was bad.) it was just.. noticeably different? the tone for this movie was changed from the first which again isnt bad youre telling a different story it was just Different yeah. some things i rly thought couldve been handled like with more subtlety.

i guess we only had one movie with the original cast but some stuff just like i personally was sitting there trying to figure out if it felt in character or not. its rly hard to explain if u havent watched it i think and maybe im just crazy i dunno. im absolutely not opposed to making ur characters fuck up and make mistakes but like. huh. i guess. i would not expect otherwise from gwen bcuz shes a teenager but i was.. surprised that peter was going along with it like ? hes a middle aged man lol he wasnt like taken advantage of or manipulated in any way. not like they were trying to say that w the like spider group anyway, like i dont think they were tryingto say gwen was necessariyl taken advantage of or anything, like they werent trying to make them read as ‘evil’ if anything just like wow these ppl sure have Problems they are going thruogh. but like still? im not invested in peters character even it just felt kind of weird. miles went fucking through it too like jesus christ im still trying to wrap my brain around all this it sure does feel like theyre putting these ppl thru comic book trauma

what i went through emotionally wheni realized they were going to do Dark Miles i dont even mean that as criticism or anything its just a bold move man. buti was sitting there like yeah of course they would. hope they make it work

i dunno i probably have more thoughts im just kind of like sitting here lol like what a weird decision. if they hadnt ended it like that i probably would have my thoughts more tied together bcuz the movie itself wasnt tied up?? so its kind of hard to even like think through everything on one watch
