100% done w kotlc book one, here are my summarized thoughts (you can read my thoughts as i progressed through the book, heres my thoughts from when i hit the 25% mark, the 50% mark, and the 75% mark)

okay, woooowwwww. that ending was so chaotic, i barely understood a thing. prolly the only thing i dont like abt this book. i might need to reread to like properly soak in everything that happened

onto notes, my guess abt biana was right ??? woah okay. i wonder about alvar tho, it wasnt confirmed here that hes w the black swam but it wasnt denied either. we still dont know who snuck the notes into her locker, n ill believe that its alvar until proven otherwise

i think its fairly obvious in retrospect that mr forkle was some kinda elf, the way he reacted to the jogger was wayy too protective. rlly smooth foreshadowing there, miss messenger

i had also guessed that sophies powers stretch a lot further than she thinks, which is basically very heavily hinted at by aldin. since i made that guess we discovered shes a polyglot and an inflictor, which is mind boggling considering those were both in the span of like fifty pages max. i wonder what else we're gonna get in terms of sophies powers

also, is it weird that i laughed at the idea of bronte teaching sophie? shes been complaining abt her alchemy mentor but now its gonna be bronte. hes gonna make her life living hell, n i promise i feel for her but dear god is it gonna be funny. either that or ill daydream abt boiling him alive

its also fairly obvious by now that the series is gonna have a romantic subplot with a love triangle between keefe n sophie n fitz. i mean, fitz n keefe are best friends n she found both of them cute on sight, it was obvious from the beginning, but the "i like you more as a friend than a sister" thing that fitz said at the end (or smth to that effect) basically guaranteed it. since i obv have moots who post abt kotlc, i already know who its gonna be, but lets pretend i dont for the time being

also, perhaps i judged fitz too harshly upon first meeting him 👉🏼👈🏼

im still fairly suspicious abt the allergy n (as i mentioned) alvar, but also i wonder abt keefes dad. theres more to him, i just know it. maybe in book two ill find out more

also can i just say, im terrified for the next one. its literally called 'exile'. WHAT HAPPENS TO SOPHIE PLEA-

"love is work" - nanami kento x reader

summary: title is self-explanatory tbh--the idea that nanami kento views love as work could be applied to any scenario. but, i think it would be interesting for the reader to be the person he meets at the bakery. maybe the bakery is a family business, so the reader's work is literally driven by familial love. although, im not sure if that means they agree or disagree with nanami about love being work.

alternatively, the reader could be a co-worker of nanami's.

conflicts/themes:

serving oneself vs. serving others

what makes love/work worth it?

"meet cute" - fushiguro megumi x reader

there are so many canon strangers to lovers opportunities with megumi lol.

like, being the person "hitting on" (asking for directions from) fushiguro during that one juju stroll.

or the person getting robbed and saved by the 1st year crew, also from juju stroll. (also applicable for yuji and nobara x reader)

there's also the light novel chapter where megumi and yuji stalk gojo at a maid cafe, so maybe the reader works at the maid cafe, and the very stoic but handsome megumi catches their eye. this scenario could also be applicable to yuji x reader or gojo x reader.

there's also an original scenario i was thinking of cuz megumi likes reading (specifically non fiction) so what if the reader was a worker at a book store or a librarian. maybe they know about sorcery already because they read a non-fic book about it and recognize his uniform when he walks in.

also i haven't seen a megumi x tsumiki's friend!reader, esp considering that one girl when tsumiki is confronting megumi about bullying lol. this one could have an interesting conflict bc that girl urged tsumiki to do the test of courage that ended up getting her cursed! so then how would megumi deal with his love interest (the reader) also being the person somewhat at fault for his sister's demise?

not a meet-cute prompt but generally i think it would b interesting in any megumi fic for gojo to be a conflict. like, as megumi's father figure, he doesn't want megumi to end up like him and suguru, so he's very hesitant about letting megumi fall in love with someone since "love is the most twisted curse of them all." but i think in the end, he might realize that love/the reader is exactly what will stop megumi from turning into suguru, so gojo ends up giving the reader his blessing.

"sugar makes blood thicker" - geto suguru x reader

tw: spoilers for gojo's past/hidden inventory/star plasma vessel/premature death arc, angst, DARK CONTENT, self-destructive behaviors, self-harm, eating disorders

summary: reader is a student at jujutsu high in 2006, alongside geto and gojo. reader is from the kamo clan and uses blood manipulation. they've been taught to keep a very strict diet to optimize the viscosity of their blood. just like how geto hates the taste of cursed spirits, reader hates the taste of their diet. they fall in love with each other, because they've finally met someone that makes them feel understood.

if you want to go even darker, the reader's technique may involve cutting (kind of like marie from gen v)

conflicts/themes:

what's the point of fighting for a world that's done nothing for you in return? ("what has the world done for me lately?")

sugar makes blood thicker, which i can imagine is harder to control for a blood manipulation user

gojo satoru is the opposite of the reader: he eats however he pleases, which includes lots of sweets, so it's hard for the reader to be around him/doesn't like him. as a result, it's also hard for geto to have to pick sides between his best friend and the reader

ending: canon ending; geto chooses reader over gojo; they turn evil and run away together with nanako and mimiko. although it could also be interesting for geto to choose gojo over the reader, or if there's somehow a happy ending for everyone here.

I have no title for this one but gojo x megumi's older sister reader

self-explanatory. during the 2006 arc, after gojo kills toji. they raise megumi together <3

"if only i could go back" - any character x reader

summary: this is pretty self-indulgent lol this one's for everyone who wants to heal everyone's trauma and just have a happy ending lmao. i had this idea of the reader either being a sorcerer or a curse who has the power to grant one wish but in doing so sacrifices themselves (they die). so, obviously, they're in high demand by everyone:

megumi wants to heal his sister

gojo wants to bring suguru back

geto wants to rid the world of non-sorcerers

toji wants his wife back

shoko wants her friends back

etc

some situations the reader may find themselves in are being held at the school so that nobody can use their power unless absolutely necessary. or maybe they were captured by the curse users.

technicalities about the reader's power: they can't grant their own wish, but they have full autonomy over whose wish they can grant, meaning the only way that someone could get their wish granted is through befriending and persuading the reader.

conflicts/themes:

characters having to choose between their wish (which kills the reader) and their fondness of the reader (wanting the reader to stay)

will they truly be happy if their wishes are granted?

how does the reader feel about being the method of people's desires but not actually being the desire?

reading a book where the main character has an abusive relationship and the author note before was like ohhh she might suck but dont forget she's in an abusive relationship!!!! but i just think that every single person around her suck. and it just made me think abt how.... rlly you're broken. if you've been unfortunate enough to have been compromised and affected, had your nervous system tarnished and ur brain disordered, you're broken and ruined. ppl love further shaming victims and saying nuh uh it's your fault for not healing. bur truth is, nobody fucking wants to deal w anyone who isnt easy or simple or complacent. if you're damaged and broken and messy nobody has patience for you. it makes me so depressed bc i know that im tarnished. im ruined forever and i can never heal. only a small amount of ppl - the ones lucky enough to have one or multiple; loving family, supportive friends, a closeknit community, quality professional care - they might be able to heal. but some ppl dont have access to any of those things. we're basically only worthless garbage. im too messy too complicated too broken too ruined too disordered to ever be understood. im not normal im not healthy im not functional. im completely and utterly useless. i cant heal. i'll never be simple or easy to be around or close to. what's even the point in life when this is what'll be my reality? all the while everyone else - esp the ppl who caused me to turn into this - get to have the things i long and ache for. it's hard being awake bc im constantly aware of the acute pain of my brokenness. i'll never be ok.

Ah thank you. This Draco and Hermione are such babies, they're both so desperate to figure out who they are while never wanting to lose face, and being so afraid about whether anyone will accept them when they do figure out who they are. Which is, I think, the fundamental journey of going from a teenager to an adult, but they're just doing it as angstily as possible because I'm sucker for codependency. (Gotta maintain my brand.)

I'll have to check out your playlist, I'm always scouting for new songs for them to listen to when I'm planning scenes.

sometimes i read novellas and it feels like just being told the story instead of getting to read the story. but sometimes i read novellas and just WISH they'd been whole novels because of how good they are and MAN this was one it was so packed it didnt feel like it was straining against its wordcount but id love to see just. the 1920s cosmic horror murder mystery Egyptian setting combo was really fun, and the audiobook narrator is really good

it took a while for this one to grab me, i dont know if that was me or the book tbh but at about the half way point it felt like it coalesced nicely and i did end up enjoying it a bunch!

Okay hot take…. I love the daisy jones & the six music like esp honeycomb….

Howeverrr I do agree w you on how they portray daisy. I feel like her character was just such a fictional being that it would be so hard to bring her to life in a way that truly represents her. Like she has so many strong traits that I feel like it would be hard to bring them all forward and I think riley Keogh does a great job for what it’s worth, but I agree that some of the dialogue esp in interviews is..meh

I do love warren Rojas book AND movie version with all my heart and if you were to ever write for any of the characters I’d eat that shit UP

i prrrrobably wont write for them, since all i’ve seen is the show i just… dont rlly care for any of the characters lmao. the only real reason i kept watching was just to see it through bc i lowkey thought the one season was it and didnt know it ended on a cliffhanger

a couple of the songs were like… ok imo, but none of them were good enough that i understood why teddy saw so much potential or why the crowds went so wild. and there were a couple where when she played them for teddy and he was like ‘omg yes you’ve done it’ it was laughable 😭😭 like a couple i found reeeeaally bad idk

hannah i can Always Trust u. sora is so lovable, admirable, everything in the book, i really do love her so much. this was such a sad chapter and so far my favorite intermission. the section about jungkook and him helping her was so lovely, and i dont know how you do it but the shift from that to the present was so smooth i didnt even notice and the next thing i knew i was seething with just as much anger as sora 😭 i also don’t know how you make eunwoo so insufferable and im so happy the word insufferable exists because there’s not a better word than that to describe him. my jaw DROPPED HIT THE FLOOR FELL ALL THE WAY TO THE EARTHS CORE when he called them his parents?????? i was in pure shock and i just dont know how you come up with the most insane things but god it keeps me on my toes at this point my toes r shattered 🤷‍♀️ even though it was short, i completely understood soras reaction to that line, it was so satisfying to see that reaction from her and that seems to be a reoccurring thing for me to say in these but it IS everything u write is satisfying. im so happy eunwoo is getting what he deserves and i think he does deserve worse but in the deep depths of my soul i do feel bad for him… he was just passed around and was taken in after a while and couldn’t really do anything for anyone. but he also could, i wonder if he got a job to help out or if he was an asshole in more ways than just the way he acted towards people. nvm maybe i don’t feel bad 😭 sora is probably one of my favorite characters of yours and don’t get me wrong i love and appreciate all of your main characters (Even hb jimin a little …. do not tell anyone) and how much time and work u put into making and developing them but sora just sits so right with me and her and i r dating in my dreams 🌟🌟 thank you for writing 478 i am so sad it’s ending soon and as always thank u for sharing ur work with us!!! - 🌟

oh im so obsessed with this. and all his descriptions of french flowers is divine i know SOO many different types of flowers and what they look like now. thanks king 💖 the plot is alright, i rlly want to listen to bruce springsteen and do acid while reading alexandre dumas with odette though.

LOVE IT! its like my all time favorite dostoyevsky, unpopular opinion ik, but on re-read it was so much better and i definitely understood the characters and story better than when i was 16 lol. he’s so great at vivid atmosphere and portraying the psychological landscape of his characters.

THE WAY OF KINGS, BRANDON SANDERSON

😬maybe im a fantasy snob but i rlly did not like this ? not only does it not even begin to compare to the complexity of asoiaf, or lord of the rings which its likened to all the time. this is one of the most popular series out there and i could not tell you one thing that makes the main character unique or why the magic system works when its so fucking detailed and specific, it just becomes kind of boring and monotonous. Like a game of jenga where you misplace one brick and it all crashes down but it doesn’t so its just kind of grating because it technically SHOULD because the variants of the universe are inherently unpredictable. idk if that made sense i hated this truly and understand why its popular but its just not for me i think. i demand something more from fantasy other than whatever went on here. it makes me triple mad because the cover i have is awesome and i hate it more because of it.

FIRE AND BLOOD, GEORGE RR MARTIN

I got this as a birthday presents like 11 million years ago when it came out and my mom was so proud of herself because she found an illustrated copy and i love the book because of that alone its content is awesome dont get me wrong i love the history behind the targaryens even if i do think we know a little too much, my main complaint with the book comes from the fact that the illustrations by doug wheatley makes the targaryens look like the t*rmp family. like a fucked up game of spot five differences that honestly takes you out of the story because imagine if someone gave ivanka a fucking dragon...jesus lord

you are ON POINT with your posts and people are just mad because you speak real. pope, kiara, and jj all said some out of character shit to each other this season and the dynamics changed, all for the sake of unneeded fanservice. if you’re willing to make your characters almost unrecognizable and retcon your own story without a second thought for some quick clout, then that speaks to your integrity as a writer, and by that I mean the obx writers have none. that’s just embarrassing!!

ah thank you, this is so real!! idk that prev anon was just weird bc i think a lot of ppl are on the same page about this. like some of the writing rlly was embarrassing! like the ways they got jj and kie to spend time alone together was so inorganic and weird? i mean theyre left alone in the shipping container together bc popes literally like 'well me and john b have plots and you guys dont.' (but why couldnt they just go with them anyway?) and they go alone together to get the truck...just because? (she should’ve gone with john b so we could’ve had an actual friendship moment between them!)

and pope's like 'why did we send jj and kie theyre the slowest ppl on earth' but like...huh? are they? that implies a dynamic we havent seen (and doesnt make sense for their characters). same with jj's 'why do you always take his side and not mine' line @ kie about pope bc that implies a whole bunch of dynamics that we havent seen and also know to not be true. kie and pope bickered all throughout s1 and hardly agreed on anything. jj regularly saw pope’s side of things (to the point that he went to jail for him bc he knew how important popes scholarship was to him, and he didnt get angry and understood when pope later then walked out on the scholarship interview) and was also betrayed when pope didn’t see his (’pope! i took the fall for you, man’). kie usually takes john bs or her own side and her and jj usually never see eye to eye which has never been a problem for either of them before. so? huh?

in s1 jj and pope spending time alone together made sense for their characters. ofc jj would want to get revenge after seeing pope hurt (and pope gets hurt to establish rafes violent nature and their rivalry), bc hes proactive and trigger happy and loyal to his friends, and ofc pope would go along with it bc his book smarts has left him a little naive when it comes to street smarts, which jj has, and since it seemed that jj was more knowledgeable in that situation, and pope values knowledge. and then they get thrust in over their heads and deal with the consequences together, which naturally brings them closer as characters. we see how their personalities and dynamic work and develop through the plot. there wasnt any natural progression like that in s2. things just happened because.

a lot of the way the interactions in doomsday unfold are honestly BECAUSE tsukki and the reader are (i mean first of all, theyre tsukki and the reader with all that comes with) fully aware that:

they have abt a full day of life left

theres nothing that can be done to elongate that time or avoid death altogether

its not like some young adult novel where a group of ragtag teenagers save the world; its the tale of two adults who have had time to come to terms with the fact that their lives and the lives of everyone they know will end soon (and once again everything that THAT comes with). its why i rlly enjoyed juxtaposing the nice weather w the crippling realization of their own mortality 🕺🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻

"you try to stress your words, make it absolutely clear that you’ve never meant anything like you mean this" this is HEARTBREAKING in a whole miryad of different ways - for a realtionship u establish as one with so many things unsaid but still understood, but here to have her say this so desperately?? like she feels this its too big to leave between the lines? it doesnt matter that he knows, she needs to say it and needs him to hear it UGH IM SAD AGAIN

IM SO GLAD YOU POINTED THIS ONE OUT!! this is EASILY one of my favorite parts of the whole fic mostly bc its something i go thru a lot? like im the definition of that tweet abt never making any damn sense but ESP when it comes to my i love yous or other serious things...i say it a lot and yes i mean it every time! but sometimes i MEAN it and i never quite know how to properly express that kinda thing.

i think its especially big for the reader in the context of the world ending and in the context of their relationship with tsukishima to have that moment of transparency and complete sincerity for the EXACT reasons you described!!!

"It’s hollow; neither of you have been under the delusion that this was anything but." u said u werent sure about his characterisation but this screams tsukki to me. cuz hes blunt and i dont think he would lie to himself about something like this especially. and even when she tries just for a moment to pretend, he just shows her /no, its ok, this is the truth and we have to die with it/... nah it vibes dude. hes such a interesting character for this idea too? because hes not sappy or anything +

so his tears hurt so much more... oof. "This is my goodbye, he says with more than words." this just... i have so many feelings about this. cuz to me hes totally someone who shows affection through small actions when he cant find the words to match his emotions? so this is like a 4-book-saga laying out his emotions cuz he doesnt quite have the words to say it out loud and theyre out of time. its desperate, but not sad desperate? like its the end but its just him making sure shes knows everything

ok first of all THANK YOU for saying that bc i wrote him being more vulnerable than i think we rlly see in any tsukki not like ... in junior high LMAO and immediately after i felt my characterization alarms ringing ... like yk those natural disaster alarms? thats the vibe...

but i had one of those Moments where i was no longer the one writing and it was the characters themselves just telling me what to say and how to say it nsfsfsd so im rlly glad it worked! and tbh when the concept first grabbed me by the collar i was juggling a few different characters around in my head but i think i made the right choice in the end. its like you said -- hes not a particularly sappy type and hes always been more grounded in reality imo than some of the other characters (another contender for this fic was akaashi but i realized i do NOT have any solid grasp of his character that isnt from fandom interpretation which is a double edged sword tbh)

and honetly i was ok until "If you’re going to take me out, do it in style, you’d said to him, once. So he does." and then i was all of a sudden crying. and the "stripped down to your bare selves" like theyre just being incinerated together and IM- NO WRODS JUST FEELINGS. i think the best thing about this is how unrushed it feels? and it hurts and its aching but they Know. +

and theyve come to some form of peace with it so when it does come, they can focus on eachother and not the end oh im gonna cry again. this was so gracefully put together, thank u for this. i might reread it and cry again, amazing work 😭💕

i didnt touch on it above bc i wanted to do it here but yes!!!! the absolute fucking DESPERATION felt by both parties in that last minute (which idk if you read my tags on the fic proper but 11:59 was originally one segment before i took those last couple paragraphs and made them the very last second ... i think i made the right choice? it rlly does scream FINAL to me) is SO poignant. all of the walls and hidden meanings fall away because in the end theyre all they have left, dying in each others arms at the very end of it all.

my thoughts now: HOO BOY. i feel like. hm. theres a lot wrong w it writing wise and obviously we all know how deeply embarrassing a lot of the fandom got back in the day though i’m sure it’s probably improved by now. i feel like theres some good stuff about the first season? idk i’m very neutral on it now tbh. but i do love sherlock holmes like, as a whole, and it IS what got me on tumblr so i’m grateful to it. i just wish the writing had been better/more diverse you know? but people that still like it r valid imo like what you like and have fun with it!

also i’m a little over halfway through the book we set the dark on fire and it features an enemies to lovers wlw pairing with the main character but its more about immigration and feminism with an entirely latine cast and i am LOVING it. idk what the daniela/carmen pairing name is but im living for it!! @ so many fucking ppl (not anyone here on tumblr)- when i tell you im genderfluid and i use any pronouns and your reaction is that you should change literally nothing in the way you talk to and about me and simply misgender me and think ur being supportive then!! shut the fuck up!! you are personally responsible for me being a thousand times more insecure about myself since before i came out to you and why i leave the specifics out of my gender even while in LGBT+ spaces and only let people use they/them and neopronouns for me despite WANTING to use she/her and he/him at certain times but like. sure. you totally understand my identity and are such an ally/ so supportive of me /s this is mostly directed at my mom tbh but a lot of ppl have done this and im still pissed abt it (some friends used to do this but have listened and stopped and i love yall so much its unreal 💙💙💙)
