Chapter 225
1740 Words
(Sana has been interested in making one of her early childhood dreams come true. As a reward she gives you a memorable moment.)
Ever since you and Sana went to the construction site and took a tour of the house, she’s been a bit more happier than usual. She goes to your office in the mornings when you call on the progress of the house and eagerly listens to them. You even asked her if she wanted a copy of the plot and house layout since she would constantly look at yours.
Obviously, she agreed, and you got her a set. She would often ask you questions whenever she had a hard time understanding something. You were more than happy to help her out and keep her busy. Surprisingly, she picked up what you taught her quickly and even asked if it was possible to build something else on the property.
“What did you have in mind?”
“Don’t laugh, okay?”
“I won’t, I promise.”
“I want to build a daycare.”
You see the seriousness in her eyes and ask, “Why do you want to build one?”
“Well… growing up, I always wanted to be a kindergarten teacher. Obviously, that didn’t happen, but after talking to Chaeyoung’s mom, she told me she used to work at a daycare after her children got a bit older. She told me about help experience, and it seems like having one would be great.”
You’re surprised by their conversation and didn’t know that Sana felt that way. It’s true that having daycare or kindergarten would be easier for members once the children get older. It’s even more important now after the experience that Sana went through; you can’t imagine what would occur if the public found out about the existence of your children.
“You’re right. Maybe having one is a good idea. How about we talk to the rest of the members?”
Sana giggles and says, “I already talked to them, and they said yes.”
“Haha, so it wasn’t much asking me but just telling me to build one.”
“Yes.”
“Okay, did you have anything in mind?”
The two of you spend most of the morning going over where the daycare would be and how big. You drew multiple sketches and drawings of what the building could have, such as a room for infants, two- to three-year-olds, four- to five-year-olds, and a kitchen. Sana mentioned that having a nice kitchen with homemade meals, a teacher's lounge, and a large playground would be nice for the kids. It took a while until the two of you could finalize the number of rooms and if having the infants separated from the rest was best or if having them in a detached building was better.
“What about the teachers?” you asked.
“Well, Chaeyoung’s mom said she would like to be one of the infant teachers, and Jihyo’s mom said they were more than willing to help. Mina mentioned it to her mom and said she would be willing to move and help with the twins. I wanted to ask my mom, but I don’t want to mention anything about kids until I’m better.”
You pull her in for a hug and hold her tight as she closes her eyes and relaxes. Once she’s a bit better, you both continue and decide where to place the build. “How about here? It’s away from the house, and we can have a nice playground.”
Sana looks around at the layout of the plot and agrees that having it away from the house would be best. “I remember my mom taking me to kindergarten on her bike. Maybe we can do the same,” she said, laughing as she tried to remember her childhood moments.
“That seems like fun. I’ll try to see if it's possible to build it. I’ll try to get it started as soon as possible if we can.”
Sana stands up from her chair and kisses you on the cheek, “Thank you!” she skips out of your office and goes off to see the children.
—————
A few days pass, and you come back from talking with the developers. Everything was approved, and I wanted to surprise Sana with the news. You walk to the living room and see her sleeping on the couch with Ari on her stomach.
“Sana, wake up.”
She rubs her eyes and turns towards you, “No, let me sleep.”
“Come on, you need to head upstairs.”
“I don’t want to, I’m…I’m going to sleep here” and turns over.
You slowly pick up Ari, holding her in your arms, and walk her upstairs to Chae’s mom. You knock and see Chae’s mom changing Hina. “Aww, she fell asleep. You can place her here,” she said as she pointed at the bed.
You kiss both Ari and Hina on the forehead before saying thanks and heading out to the living room. “Thank you.”
Now, in front of Sana, you nudge her arm, trying to wake her up, but it’s no use. “Alight, I guess it will be getting my workout for tonight.” You place your hand at each end and pick up Sana. Surprisingly, she doesn’t weigh much at all, and you can easily carry her to your room. You place her on the bed and ask, “Sana, did you wash your teeth?”
Still sleeping she mumbles, “Nee…” and tuck her in and give her a kiss.
You’re woken up to freezing cold hands rubbing against your thighs, “Good morning, Sana.” You turn around and see Sana with a smile, “Good morning, baby.” You chuckle when she goes up your inner thigh and into your shorts, “Wait, what are you doing?”
“Just wanted to say thanks.”
“What do you mean?”
“Sorry, but I heard your phone go off and saw that it was from a girl, so I am just a bit jealous. I read the text and saw that the permits and layout were approved. Said that you were going to have a meeting with the developers.” You see the light shine in her eyes by the news.
Suddenly, you feel the cold sensation in your private regions and say, “Wait, what are you doing?”
“I just want to say thanks. I know it’s not much, but I hope you like it.”
You feel her ice-cold fingers grab your limp cock and groan, “Ahh… fuck… it’s cold.” Still having the bedcovers, you can only imagine what is going on as you feel swaying your cock back and forth. Little by little, it slowly gets hard, “Are you ready?”
“Yeah…”
“Tell me if it feels good, okay.”
“Okay…”
With her thumb and index finger around the tip of your cock she slowly peels your foreskin back until your mushroom tip pops out. Now hardened, she pulls her hand back out and spits on her hand before going back down. She teases you by gently rubbing the tip of your cock with her wet fingers, making you moan from how sensitive it is.
“Do you like that, babe?”
“Yeah, I do.”
She then grabs your shaft and slowly begins to stroke your cock. Sana kisses your chest, causing your cock to twitch. She increases the pace of her stroking, squeezing, and tilting it up. This causes your cock to throb and Sana to simile by your moaning.
“Do you like that baby? Me stroking your big cock with my small fingers?”
“I do… I love it.”
She strokes it even faster and faster, as well as tightening the grip of her hand, “How bad do you want to cum?”
“I want to cum, I haven’t done it in a while.”
“Where do you want to cum?”
“Fuck… I don’t know, I just want to cum…”
“Want to paint my face white?”
Sana begins to giggle when she sees your cock react to her words of painting her face with cum. She flips the bedsheet over, revealing your throbbing cock, and crawls out of bed. She gets on her knees right in front of the bed. You get off the bed and stand right in front of her, stroking your cock with a firm grip.
She looks directly into your eyes as she sees that you’re about to reach your peak. “Cum for me, baby; cover my pretty face in your thick cum.”
You’re reaching your peak and can feel all your energy concentrating down in your core. “Fuck… I’m cumming! In one hard stroke, you watch as a rope of white hot cum flies and covers Sana’s. Her eyes are closed as it paints her eyebrows, nose, whole mouth, and small breasts.
“It’s so hot! You must have been so backed up, baby.”
“I was, but it was worth it,” you say as you look at the work of art you just made, using Sana’s body as your canvas.
She collects as much cum as she can with her tongue before showing you the amount of cum you shot in her mouth. She gargles you cum side to side and swallows it, then sticks out her tongue, showing you that it’s gone.
“Thank you for the breakfast, babe.”
She stands up, grabs her phone, and poses in front of her mirror, taking a photo of her upper body covered in your baby batter.
“How about joining me for a shower?”
“I’d love to.”
You smack her ass, making her giggle until you hear a pair of loud footsteps running across the hallway.
“Apa!! Apa!”
Both of your faces are horrified as the steps get louder. “I’m going to the shower; I don’t want the kids to see me like this!”
You quickly grab your bathrobe and the bathroom as Jisoo knocks on the door. Chaeyoung’s mom opened the door, and the two sisters yelled, “Apa??” They tilt their head and are surprised not to see you in your room but then hear the water running in the bathroom. “It seems like your daddy is taking a shower. How about we come back later and say good morning to him?” They both nodded their heads and ran out of the room.
Chaeyoung’s mom was about to close the door when she noticed small stains that led from the bed to the bathroom. She walks towards it, sees the clear substance, and smiles before heading back and closing the door, “What a time to be young.”

maybe a little clarisse/silena fic! with clarisse braiding silena's hair (she learned just for her gf and is proud of her skills)
for catra-catra and @pjofemslashweek day 7: free day (ruegard) | word count: 856 | for anyone else interested, i’m taking any pjo femslash requests that come in by midnight est!
“hmm,” silena murmurs, still half asleep. clarisse sighs and pulls the covers off of her completely. it’s almost eleven in the morning and they have plans to meet up with friends later. silena just curls in on her side, barely noticing the absence of blankets. clarisse has already tried playing the alarm for ten minutes, so she reaches over and gently shakes silena. silena doesn’t wake up.
clarisse rubs her face and sits down on the bed. it’s not unusual for silena to sleep in late, but last night silena had promised she’d be up on time. up on time would have been half an hour ago. clarisse looks over to her girlfriend and nods. then, she pushes silena off the bed.
“hey!” comes silena’s voice from the floor. clarisse ignores her and starts to make the bed. they have an absurd amount of pillows that all of silena’s siblings have gifted them. clarisse shifts them in the order just the way she likes them. silena prefers a different layout, but she had to be rolled off the bed for the second time this week so she doesn’t get a say.
by the time clarisse finishes smoothing out the blankets, silena has mustered up the energy to lift herself from the floor and fall back onto the bed. clarisse sighs at her, but a little more fondly. she looks down at silena and smiles, “silena, you really have to get up now. you know you hate being late.”
at the word late, silena finally starts to stir. she shakes her head once, twice, and then she pushes herself up into a sitting position. clarisse grins and moves away from the bed to get their things in order. a few minutes later, arms slip around clarisse’s waist. silena drops her head on clarisse’s shoulder. “hey baby,” she says. “wanna take a break from all that and braid my hair? it’ll look so good with that sundress i picked out…”
the answer is yes, of course. silena barely needs to ask. they both know clarisse loves to braid silena’s hair. clarisse turns around in silena’s grasp and smiles at her girlfriend as she rests a hand on silena’s cheek, “of course, i’ll make something to eat and meet you on the couch. sounds good?”
silena tilts her head up and pecks clarisse’s lips, “sounds great, baby.”
the two somewhat reluctantly detach from each other as they get ready for the day. silena gets dressed and does her makeup and rearranges the pillows on the bed and clarisse makes breakfast in the kitchen. silena connects her phone to the speaker and puts on music as she decides on earrings and in the other room clarisse starts to sing along.
when silenas finished getting ready she steps into the living room and waves at clarisse from where she’s plating food. she sits on the floor and puts her brush and ribbons on the coffee table. clarisse walks over and presses a kiss to the top of silena’s head before she trades her a plate of pancakes for the brush and ribbons.
clarisse braids silena’s hair with the utmost care. as she separates silena’s hair into different strands and starts to weave them together with ribbon, silena tells her about the drama in her family group chat. clarisse has been added to the group chat multiple times, but she has enough trouble trying to moderate the cabin five group chat. they keep sending memes about chiron that silena finds hilarious and clarisse saves to her phone to show chiron if they ever send any memes making fun of her.
“okay, so drew says she’s really sure about this girl but i think she also said that about the girl who stole her knock off designer bags so we don’t trust that at all. i want to stage an intervention, but piper wants to see how weird this one is first. julian is taking a photography course finally and he’s so good! he keeps sending us pictures he’s taking and i think i’m going to get him to take group pictures of all of the cabins in the summer. wouldn’t that be nice? oh and baby, these are so good!”
“mhm,” clarisse says, tying the end of the braid braid off with a flower. she learned to braid just for silena, but they’re perfect like everything clarisse sets her mind to. she pulls the bobby pins out of her mouth to secure the braid neatly against silena’s head and pulls silena back onto the couch. silena kisses her cheek and clarisse wraps an arm around her shoulders. silena continues on and clarisse listens intently as silena finishes her food, when she does she passes her plate to clarisse and clarisse takes it to the sink while silena finishes her lipstick.
they meet back at the door. silena helps clarisse into her jacket and clarisse kisses her firmly.
“what was that for?” silena asks her, smiling.
“i felt like it,” clarisse tells her, smiling back. silena giggles and kisses her gently, and then they open the door and walk off to their day.

The Ballerina and the B-girl Part 9 (Branjie) - Starsha
a/n: Always accepting more prompts for one shots you guys wanna see outta this lesbian AU! Today we have: It’s Vanjie’s birthday and you betcha Brooklyn is going to spoil her rotten.
Vanjie was awoken abruptly the morning of her 28th birthday to Silky’s big ass hollering at her from the door to her bedroom.
“Bitch wake up its yo birthday! And looks like you gotta a something something from Miss Brooklyn at the front door”
Vanjie shot up in bed, a huge grin plastered across her face. Despite having been dating her incredible girlfriend 11 months, any mention of the blonde still sent her into a giddy spin. She tumbled out of bed, clad in a tiny red silk nightie fringed with lace that had been a previous gift from Brooke. The wealthy CEO took great joy in spoiling her girlfriend, but this particular day was going to be a whole other level of opulence and indulgence.
Upon the front door step laid a dramatic setup; upon a beautiful red love seat sat two presents wrapped in shimmery golden wrapping with red bows, and roses arranged into the letter V. There was a card laid on top, Vanessa’s name penned beautifully onto the envelope. Vanjie just stood there in awe of the effort that had been put into her, and it was only 8am in the morning.
“Bitch you’d better read that card pronto, but when you show us later if there’s some kinky shit in there you should omit it for my sanity” Akeria proposed, also quite stunned at the display in front of her. However, she’d spent enough time around Brooklyn at this point to know that the bitch spared no cost when it came to her small Puerto Rican housemate.
Vanjie picked it up and eagerly opened the envelope, a card with a beautifully written message slipping out. She read it carefully, imagining the words as though her girlfriend was speaking them.
‘Happy birthday my baby, my world! I’m so sorry that I’m caught up at work and can’t give you this in person, so I suppose this will have to do. I hope you like the loveseat, I saw that you couldn’t take your eyes off it when we were at the mall the other day. Unwrap your other presents in private, they’re just for you and me for now ;) you’re going to be a good girl and put them on for me tonight, I’ll pick you up at 8. I’ll see you then baby, I hope you have an amazing rest of your day.
With all the love I have to give, Brooke’
Vanjie beamed, hugging the card to her chest. How in the hell she had gotten so lucky she had no idea. Silky and Akeria helped her to carry the display back through the house to her room, where she asked for some privacy to open the wrapped gifts. Vanessa perched herself on her new loveseat and settled back with glee at how soft it was, imagining cuddling Brooke on here. The gifts were beautifully wrapped, Vanjie undid the bows on top, before taking care not to rip the gorgeous golden paper.
Her heart stopped as she took in what lay inside the packages. The first was a dress and not just any dress at that. This was a dress that Vanjie had been drooling over for months, had gone into the change-room at the fancy store to try on just for shits and giggles because she could never dream of affording it. It was red, tight and with beautiful shimmery detailing in intricate patterns. It was the kind of dress that made you feel like you were going to walk a red carpet. Brooke had removed the price tag, but Vanjie knew that this thing costed a grand and she was absolutely blown away that Brooke had bought it for her, that it was hers.
The second gift made Vanjie blush with glee even harder than she already was. She was immediately excited when she saw the name on the box, an extraordinarily expensive lingerie brand that she already had a couple of pieces from courtesy of Brooke. She opened it to reveal a gorgeous white set complete with thigh high socks and suspenders, again one that she had dropped over this time online. Vanjie wondered how in the hell Brooke knew what she wanted, then remembering the blonde had walked into the room and taken a glance of the screen whilst they had talked one day. Vanessa had the most caring, thoughtful and generous girlfriend in the world.
‘Thank you thank you thank you babe I love all of my pressies so much!! Can’t wait to wear these for you tonight! I love you, hope work isn’t too stressful. Here’s a pic of the birthday girl for you <3’ Vanjie texted Brooke, taking a picture of herself in her full length mirror ensuring to pull her lip between her teeth and pose all sexy in her lacy nightie.
She knew Brooke loved to see her in anything that she had bought for her, it was Vanjie’s way of saying an extra thank you. She noticed that there was something else in the envelope and almost had a heart attack when she read what it was. She burst out of her room to find Silky and Akeria, both of them sitting on the couch. They had given her presents last night, Silky had given her a couple of candles that smelt like cookies and berries, as well as some nice chocolate. Akeria, the more practical friend, had gifted her a new hair curling wand as her old one was reaching zombie status. She was so grateful that her friends had spent money on her and couldn’t wait to share what she held in her hand with them.
“Ladies looks like I know what we doing today!” Vanjie stated, her voice bordering a yell as always, “Brooklyn gave me a voucher for 3 full day passes to that fancy spa downtown!”
“Fuck yes thank you Brooky Cookie!” Silky yelled, using the name she had coined for Vanjie’s girlfriend. She and Akeria had grown extremely fond of the bitchy looking blonde and not just because she bought Vanjie nice things. The woman was kind hearted and considerate, she always asked how they were when she saw them and never tried to intrude when they were having a housemates hangout night. If she was completely honest with herself, Silky was jealous as hell Vanjie had found a woman like Brooke but she was so happy for her as well. She knew that time with Vanjie living in the house was fleeting, predicting that very soon Brooklyn would ask her to move in.
The trio of best friends spent the day at the spa being pampered; massages, facials, hanging out in the spa baths. It was a perfect day, quality time with her best friends was something that Vanjie treasured. As time rolled around to the evening, Vanjie was in front of her mirror in awe of how she looked in the dress. It clung to her curves and accentuated her waist, the detailing sparking in the light. She felt like a movie star or a princess, snapping a picture to send to her mum. She knew the woman would demand pictures of her and Brooke as well but this would keep her satisfied for a while. Brooke had met her mum 6 months into the relationship, but that’s a story for another time.
When Vanjie stepped out of her room to greet Brooke at the door, both her housemates where speechless at how she looked in her new dress. Brooke had a similar reaction, however an underlying lust was simmering as the blonde drew her eyes over every inch, tongue darting out to wet her lips. Vanessa had a similar reaction to Brooke’s attire, a black jumpsuit with a plunging neckline showing off her cleavage and sinfully tight over her ass.
It was only once goodbyes to Silky and Akeria were said and they were inside of the fancy car being driven by an employee of Brooke’s, that the blonde pulled Vanessa towards her and enveloped her lips in a passionate kiss. Vanjie whined slightly as they separated, Brooke’s hands running all over her body.
“Happy birthday baby. You look so beautiful” Brooke mused, “I’m glad you like the dress” Vanjie beamed and settled into Brooke’s side for the drive, “I love it so much Brooke, I feel like a princess or some shit” at which the blonde giggled.
It didn’t take long to reach the restaurant that Brooke had selected, but Vanjie was confused to see the layout when they walked in. They were lead to a beautiful room overlooking the city lights, with only one table set for two.
“This is a private dining place baby, they let you design a menu and everything so I got you all your favourite things” Brooke explained as she pulled out Vanjie’s chair for her so they could sit down. Vanessa was in awe the entire dinner, Brooke had indeed ordered crab legs, oysters, fish tacos, berries and chocolate chip cookies served fancy style. It was all so incredibly delicious and amazing to be sharing this meal and this night with Brooke. Vanjie’s entire world revolved around the blonde and she didn’t want it any other way, she loved her with all the love in her little heart and it was evident that Brooke felt the same.
“Vanessa, I’ve got a little something else for you” Brooke began, pulling out a small rectangular box from her coat and handing it to Vanjie, “I love so much baby girl and I want you to always remember that” Vanjie opened the box to reveal an extremely expensive looking gold necklace with a heart shaped locket. She carefully opened the locket to reveal her favourite picture of them together, her laying back into Brooke’s arms in the park.
Vanessa immediately pulled Brooke into a thank you kiss and insisted that the blonde put the necklace on her. Brooke’s hands ran gently across her neck and played with her hair, Vanessa suddenly being extremely keen to go back to Brooke’s in search of a flat surface for Brooke to fuck her over. Must have been the oysters. Brooke seemed to have similar ideas, paying the bill promptly before they went out and got into the car again.
Vanjie was surprised when they were dropped off at a very fancy looking hotel rather than Brooke’s house. Brooke refused to explain a thing, checking in with a room booked under her name and leading Vanessa towards the elevators. Once inside, she pushed Vanjie against the wall and captured her lips in a heated kiss. Vanjie kissed back with want and need, whining when Brooke pulled away with a giggle so they could exit and find the room. Once the door was open and Brooke had ushered Vanjie inside, it became evident why this particular room as been booked. Next to the bed there was a stripper pole, and Vanjie felt a flood of arousal downstairs at the thought of what Brooke had planned. The blonde pulled Vanjie against her, hands finding the zipper on the back of her dress.
“As beautiful as you look in this dress baby girl, I want to see how you look in your other present” Vanjie let Brooke unzip the dress and ease it off her, leaving her in the lingerie set. Brooke’s eyes widened and darkened, taking a few steps back to admire Vanessa.
“So fucking beautiful. So fucking sexy” she mused. Vanjie made a move to walk towards her but Brooke shook her head. “No baby girl, you’re not allowed to touch me just yet. Be a good girl and go sit over on the bed for Mami”.
Vanjie was already dripping and Brooke’s dominance only made her wetter. She did as she was told, crossing her legs in the search of some pressure where she needed it. Brooke on the other hand, began to walk around the pole, dipping down to the floor before coming back up. Vanjie was absolutely mesmerised as her girlfriend began a strip tease, taking off her jumpsuit to leave her in black lace panties, suspenders, thigh high black tights and her heels. Brooke’s breasts tempted the hell out of Vanjie, bouncing free perfect and full as she swung around the pole. The blonde dropped to her hands and knees after an impressive pole dance that showed off her flexibility, crawling towards Vanessa. Her breath caught in her throat as Brooke began to kiss up her leg and over her panties where she needed her most. Brooke looked up at Vanjie with a devilish grin, and Vanjie knew she was in for a wild ride tonight.
— many hours later —
Vanjie lay snuggled naked in Brooke’s arms, the blonde lovingly stroking her hair and her face nuzzled into Vanjie’s neck. Vanessa could not remember a single day being as perfect as this in her life. She was so content and so happy, and she knew that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with this incredible woman. Brooke stirred and placed a couple of loving kisses onto Vanessa’s neck, prompting a small moan out of the shorter girl.
“Vanessa, could I ask you something?” Brooke murmured, her usually confident voice quiet and unsure. Vanjie rolled over so that she was facing her and carefully tucked a strand of blonde hair behind her ear.
“I’m all ears Brooke” she replied. Brooke looked so nervous, placing a hand on Vanjie’s waist to draw her even closer, their legs tangled together.
“I’ve been thinking about us, and where our relationship is going, and I was thinking that maybe you might like to move in with me? I know that you love living with your friends though so I understand if you don’t want-“ Vanjie cut off her girlfriends rambling with a passionate kiss, pouring all her love and soul into it.
“Brooke I want nothing more than to live with you, sleep next to you every night and wake up to kisses every morning. I love you so much” Brooke’s face broke out into a blinding grin, and Vanjie could see happy tears in her eyes. They kissed hot and deep, Brooke pulling Vanjie on top of her and hugging her like she was the most precious thing in the world.
“I love you too” Brooke murmured against her lips, and Vanjie’s heart almost burst right then and there.

Vampirella Red Sonja #01
Tumblr media
Vampirella Red Sonja #01 Dynamite Entertainment 2019 Written by Jordie Bellaire Illustrated by Drew Moss Coloured by Rebecca Nalty Lettered by Becca Carey     The first ONGOING series, co-starring The Daughter Of Drakulon and The She-Devil With A Sword! A saga spanning space and time, filled with horror, adventure, mystery and murder!     The opening here sold me, as if I needed selling to, on this series. To see Elle this way and to watch her enter Russia, with love, was brilliantly done. Also I have to say that when she's in her hotel room watching the news there is some astounding lettering going on my Becca that in both English and Russian, I don't mean the Americanised version I mean straight up Russian Keyboard Russian. Still to see her going over some maps, eyewitness accounts and the like while listening to what's on the television just gave off this overall vibe and feel for the book that draws you in and keeps interested in what's happening.     The way that this is being told is brilliantly done. The story & plot development alongside the character development and how they work together, separately or fused into one entity makes this so much more interesting to me. Plus with the addition of the pacing that picks it all up and constantly moves the story forward creates this delightful ebb & flow that you can't help but caught up in. It's like going to Russia and having Vodka, it's a necessity whether you want to or not. It doesn't hurt that this is 1969 either and the space race is full swing so there's a lot of rocket launching and space flight discussions making it easy for Vampirella to pose as a journalist for her cover story.     I will say that the fact that we get to see her talking to the locals while getting a running commentary of what she's thinking about the men she speaks to well that just makes everything so much sweeter. Though at one point I wish she had decided to have a drink of a different kind with one unwanted intruder. Still the version of events that we learn of in this time and place does a number of things for the story and the reader. It allows the reader to start thinking off script about what is being said and as we try to put 2 and 2 together trying to make 4 we keep coming up with водка. Just the fact that we do this mean Jordie is able to engage the reader and make them feel they are part of the story as well.     Drew's work in the interiors is really an unexpected pleasure. I have seen his work elsewhere but just not enough so to see his linework in these pages and how he utilises the varying line weights to create some stunning attention to detail is superb. The work he does and how he stylises it to fit the era and the region makes me feel like I am watching one of the Netflix shows like Mindhunter or even the Man in the High Castle where the work creates a mood and feel of times past. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show an extremely talented eye for storytelling. Even the way we see backgrounds being utilised to enhance the moments and show a size and scope for the story is very well done. The colour work is great as well. The glow cast from the telly has the right feel to it and the light source it creates, as well as other light sources throughout, show some nice shading and shadows. The more impressive one for me is the fire light.      They say the devil's in the details and if you pay attention to what is being said, hence where a few of those off script moments occur, you'll have more questions than answers coming your way. Still the way Jordie sets this up for us and how she brings us this nice cliffhanger ending is just so amazingly well done. A few years ago I would've thought these scantily clad women, no not a book for me. Now I can't get enough of them, they are so complex and interesting and to see Jordie bring them to life as these strong, powerful and complex individuals well that's why I am here.

Chapter Three - Intrusion
After being led inside and walked through the lengthy process of signing dozens of forms, collecting their room keys and having their student I.Ds renewed, Miss Hunt gave them a thorough tour of the whole house. The Housemistress was treating the day as a fully planned out royal engagement, neglecting the fact that Will and Kate were both well used to the layout of Ivy House by now, or at least as much as they needed to be considering they weren’t the ones who would be living there for the year.
It was still a comforting feeling seeing where her daughters would be eating each night, where they would be doing their homework and where they would be hanging out with their friends. Having a clear idea of what the common room looked like would help when she was missing her two eldest girls, with its plush chairs and bean bags, whiteboards where the day's events were organised, a large TV at the center of everything, pictures of all the girls of the house and their achievements covering the walls. It was one of the smaller houses at Marlborough and therefore one of the cosiest, offering a lovely home away from home for Ellie and Alex.
Kate hardly listened to Miss Hunt as she spoke. She was more focused on watching Ellie repeatedly leaving the group and introducing herself to the girls running the various club sign up stations that had been set up around the common room, and writing her name down on more registers than Kate could count. The girls on the other side of the tables all seemed shocked and excited to be speaking with Ellie, but this didn't seem to faze her daughter at all, it was clearly helping. All the energy of the first day back, as well as the raging, chaotic atmosphere of an all-girls boarding house was quite something to be a part of. Kate wasn't in Royal mode, she was even struggling to stay in Mum mode and starting to wish it was her going back to school instead.
"Would Miss Hunt notice if I threw on a Marlborough skirt and boarded with Ellie?" she whispered to Will, who smirked and seemed quietly excited about the idea.
In the end the tour proved useful, showing that despite the layout of Ivy being roughly the same as the year before, more rooms had been squeezed in to increase its capacity. Ms Hunt told them that they could house an extra twenty girls this year but that they were still struggling to satisfy a high demand for places, continuing the trend that had started when Ellie first enrolled at the school.
"How about the girls rooms?" asked Will, wanting to move them along.
"We'd like to get them settled in quickly." Kate added, doing her best to avoid sounding rude.
"Of course, right this way." Ms Hunt led them upstairs to a long corridor lined with pastel yellow walls and polished wooden doors. It had the 'start of year' look with no signs of use or ownership, but some girls were already decorating their doors with posters and stickers.
Kate greeted some girls and parents as they passed each other and waved to a gaggle of younger girls who had gathered at the end of the corridor just to watch them.
Ellie stuck to the back of the group and happily greeted each girl she recognised, doing her best to avoid standing out as anything like royalty whilst still sticking close to her parents. Alex was more in her element, hugging old friends she hadn't seen in months and repeatedly falling behind and making them wait for her.
Alex has always been happy go lucky.
They were led to a more secluded corridor on the third floor where the larger, more exclusive rooms sat open and ready. Ellie and Alex were on the same floor but several doors down from each other, a way of satisfying both the school rules of separating different year groups in the House and Kate's insistence that her kids be close enough to look out for one another.
On the way they left Alex and Will to sort out her room, and met Anna with a few more protection officers who were weaving their way between other parents and students dragging their suitcases through the narrow corridors.
"Just a few more cases ma'am." Anna reassured her when Kate offered to take one of the suitcases herself.
"As you can see we've given Ellie one of our best rooms, lots of space and facing away from the main road so she won't have to worry about photographers." Miss Hunt told her, a little too loudly, as she followed her into Ellie's room.
"Wonderful." Kate said as she scanned the space her daughter would be living in for the next year. It had a massive queen size bed, a desk and vanity, two wardrobes and a window that faced out to the back garden area below. It would be just as comfortable as Ellie's bedroom back home, but the fact that it was big enough for two or even three girls to live in was something that Kate always regretted.
The palace demanded it, not you. Remember that.
"Anyway, I'm sure you have other parents waiting for you." Kate said, not wanting to draw too much attention. The special treatment wasn't going to do much for her daughter's standing within the house and she wanted to get rid of Miss Hunt before any more damage could be done.
"Are you sure? We're all free to help." Miss Hunt said kindly.
"That's all right, we don't want to be getting in anyone's way."
"All right, it was a pleasure to meet you ma- Kate."
Kate started unpacking some of Ellie's things and enjoying the chance for some peace and quiet away from all the chaos outside. Her girls were luckily roomed on one of the calmer floors with less bedrooms, but you could still hear the commotion of students moving in downstairs.
"Ellie, where do want this?" Kate asked, lifting up an old shoebox of mementos.
When nobody responded, she looked around and realised she was completely alone. "Ellie?"
Kate stepped back out into the corridor and discovered her eldest staring up at a noticeboard and flicking through more leaflets of clubs and societies to join. "Come along now."
Ellie moved her mouth but didn't speak, looking at her and then longingly back at the board. "Mum.."
Kate could sense the desperation, the restlessness, she could see that Ellie wanted nothing more than to get the whole royal entourage out of there so that she could get started on her new plans for the year.
"All right." Kate relented with a sigh, hiding her disappointment. "Go and greet your friends, I'll handle all this."
"Thanks Mum." Ellie rushed towards her and kissed her on the cheek before running off down the corridor.
"And make sure your sister is settled in!" Kate yelled after her as she disappeared around the corner just as Anna reappeared.
"She's in a hurry." Anna said sarcastically.
"Been itching to get away from us ever since she arrived." Kate said, affectionately rubbing the spot on her cheek which Ellie had kissed. "Does she seem distracted to you?"
"Probably just first day nerves, Ma'am."
"Probably." Kate paused, folding one of Ellie's jumpers and tucking it away in one of her drawers. "She hasn't told you anything has she?"
"Just that she's planning to try harder than she has the last three years. Never seen her so driven."
Anna's lack of worry was reassuring, especially since she had become such a close confidant of Ellie's ever since she had joined the staff. Ellie would tell her everything about her life, treating her like a big sister and in some ways a surrogate mother. The growing family and the growing workload had been hard on everyone, especially the girls. Having Anna around definitely helped, but this didn't stop Kate from feeling slightly jealous of her.
She politely excused herself, leaving Anna to continue with the unpacking while she stepped out into the corridor and listened to the sounds of other girls moving in nearby. She glanced at the walls, mostly blank and empty aside from a few things that had stayed up since the last year, pictures of the girls of the house taking part in sports day, charity drives and school plays. Alex was prominent in a few, having joined the junior girls football team in her first year and had a role in the Marlborough production of Oliver Twist.
Pippa gave her an old skirt for the part and Alex wore it for two whole weeks before Granny insisted she changed.
Kate eventually spotted, after quite a desperate search of the wall, a rare school photo of Ellie standing with a couple of other girls, holding up essays they had written for the 'English Language School Wide Writing Competition'. She barely got a chance to read the description before the creaking sound of a door opening behind her drew her attention. A woman was backing out of the room next to Ellie's and carrying a washing basket full of dirty looking clothes. Kate didn't recognise her as she turned around, but the wide eyed surprise she was certainly familiar with.
"Hello!" Kate said, throwing on her best smile and hoping to befriend a fellow school parent.
"Oh, hello!" the woman said excitedly, hurrying to put down the basket and hide it from Kate. She beckoned for someone else in the room to come out too, without taking her eyes off Kate.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Kate." She extended her hand out for the woman to shake.
"Lydia, and my daughter Alice." Lydia shook her hand firmly and ushered her daughter forward. She looked about Ellie's age, with very rosy cheeks and thick-rimmed glasses stuck in her bushy brown hair.
"Alice." Kate glowed. "Hi, how are you?"
"I'm all right, thanks." Alice said nervously, then discreetly tried to get a look at who her next door neighbour was going to be. Lydia stole back Kate's attention before she could answer.
"Stressful day isn't it?" Lydia asked.
"Definitely!" Kate relaxed a little more. "The girls hardly helped. Lucky we still got here on time."
"Alice only woke up an hour ago." Lydia told her, laughing while Alice's cheeks went even more red.
"Mum!" she complained. Alice still looked very neat and put together considering. Ellie and Alex probably would have turned up in their dressing gowns if she hadn't forced them into their uniforms herself.
"Do you have many friends here in Ivy, Alice?" Kate asked, thinking Ellie could do with a friendly next-door neighbour.
"A few, sure. But also some in New Court."
"I need to get this down to the laundry room." Lydia smiled at her and picked up the clothes basket. "Do you mind making sure Alice keeps unpacking?"
"Of course, I'd love to." Kate smirked when Alice rolled her eyes.
"New Court girls are pretty great." Kate said as Alice went back into her room. "But I'm biased, that was my old house."
"You went to New Court?" Alice asked, immediately sounding like she wanted to move there.
"Yep, not as nice as Ivy though." Kate said, trying to ensure she stayed put.
"Yeah, well I do prefer being a little further away. Ivy is nice and quiet." Alice told her.
"So what are the girls here like?" Kate asked, trying to get some good intel out of someone. Ellie definitely wasn't going to give her anything until she'd made some progress herself, and Alex was supposedly sworn to secrecy.
"Here in Ivy?" Alice asked back, looking around the corridor while Kate nodded encouragingly.
"They're okay I guess." Alice rubbed her neck and looked away awkwardly. "Some aren't as talkative. Some of the older girls are a bit snooty, that's why I have more friends in New Court."
Alice seemed to be being honest, but Kate was immediately worried that she might be referring directly to Ellie. Was her eldest coming across as snooty? Kate wouldn't believe it.
"Ellie is great though!" Alice seemed to easily pick up on why she was asking, and quickly jumped on Kate's spiralling thoughts. "Some of the girls can be a bit much but Ellie is very polite and considerate."
"That's nice to hear." Kate answered, feeling a little better. Alice's words still felt like those she'd hear from a teacher at a parent's evening, someone who didn't really know her daughter. It was just a polite way of saying that Ellie didn't talk to anyone.
"Are you two friends?"
"Well, not really. But I've talked to her a few times in class..."
Their attention was briefly distracted by a building noise of girls down the corridor and around the corner, where, from what Kate could gather from their eager whispers, people seemed to be rushing  to get a peek at William and the rest of the entourage who were making their way towards them. None of them seemed to notice Kate and Alice hiding in their own quiet offshoot of the main corridor, and Kate wanted to ask something before that changed.
"Alice, do you mind doing me a favour?" She followed the younger girl into her room, standing in the doorway to hide better and watching as Alice packed away clothes. "Could you keep an eye on her, try being her friend?"
Kate was desperate to not come across as too overprotective, or to make Ellie out to be too dependent on her, but it was hard not to. Ellie always had trouble making friends and Kate was finding herself feeling more anxious about that fact this year more than any other. She didn't want anything to get in the way of her daughter's new ambition, and considering how many sports kits she'd had to buy for her over the summer Ellie was going to need all the support she could get.
"Wha- Me?" Alice stared down at a pair of red socks she was holding, apparently forgetting what she was doing with them. "Sure! Mum also wants me to make some more friends."
Kate could feel a massive sense of relief. "Exactly, I can see where she's coming from."
She leaned back and looked down the corridor again just as several girls retreated out of the way of William, pretending they weren't just watching him like hawks moments ago. He got her attention with a look, both of them knowing that they should probably leave before they cause any more distractions.
"Thanks Alice, it was nice talking to you. Have a nice term." Kate said, in a bit of a rush as she backed out of the room to join the entourage that was sweeping her away.
"Thanks! I will" Alice followed her out, lingering in her doorway, awestruck, to watch them pass by.
Will carried in one of the last suitcases whilst the girls collapsed onto Ellie's bed as if they'd worked themselves to death already. Ellie had a particularly large collection of leaflets and booklets that she'd gathered and deposited on top of her pillow whilst Alex was focused intently on connecting to the Ivy House wi-fi.
"Are we all done then?" asked Kate, surveying the room. "Alex's room?"
"All done." Alex mumbled, sitting cross-legged on Ellie's bed as she entered the password on her phone. Will lightly slapped her knee so she'd move her dirty feet off the sheets, before sitting down next to her and wiping his brow.
"Make sure you're both unpacked by tomorrow. I don't want any phone calls next week complaining about creased clothes, understood?" Kate stared at both girls with her hands on her hips and barely got a response.
"We're supposed to be all settled in and out of the way before the next load of girls arrive." Ellie reminded them, looking around impatiently at the entourage of staff who had come to help and protect them.
"All right, why don't we have some lunch in town and then you'll be rid of us." Will pulled both the girls up from the bed and ushered them outside. Kate touched his arm and whispered in his ear. "Are they really that bored of us already?"
"We're not as cool as their school friends, poppet." He patted her on the bum as he passed by.
"Clearly." Kate whispered, looking around the room again and picturing the younger, youthful and well-liked Jenny Moon sitting on Ellie's bed and giving her advice throughout the year.
I can still be cool. You're not done with me yet, girls.
Being out in Marlborough town proper provided some much needed relaxation. Kate enjoyed the feeling of being back inside a girl's boarding house, but the tight corridors packed with other parents moving their children in had very quickly become exhausting. She made a note for next time to not bring such a large group, palace safety experts be damned. If it was her and William carrying things inside, nobody would really bother them and they'd fit in as normal parents, just once.
They found a small pub off the high street with a nice open beer garden and a juicy looking lunch menu. Together they gathered around a large table in the garden and dived into their meals, enjoying each other's company for what would likely be the last time, at least for a few months. Anna and the protection officers shared a table nearby, where they chatted and laughed over burgers and beers.
"Are we still going to be followed around by the officers?" Alex asked as she returned from getting a refill for her Coke. She nudged Ellie as she sat down, who was nose deep in a booklet about the Marlborough Gymnastics team.
"Yep, same as usual." Kate answered, ignoring the synchronised groans of her daughters. She feared this question coming up again. "They won't be allowed inside Ivy but they'll be nearby."
Will put down his burger and wiped his mouth, his face growing serious. "Your grandmother has requested that you have a female officer who can stay in house."
"What?" Alex put down her glass of Coke with a loud thud. Ellie closed her booklet much more emphatically than she needed to and just stared at both her parents.
"Why?" Ellie's voice stank of disdain.  "We're perfectly safe here, Dad. Mum, come on!"
"We don't need any more guards, the school does enough!" Alex added, pushing her chips aside like she'd suddenly lost her appetite.
Will gritted his teeth. Neither of them wanted this. "Still. We'd all like you to be safe."
"Safe from who?" The extra guards will just make us stand out more."  Ellie was clearly holding back the anger in her voice. They had never had to deal with much palace intrusion at school before this, and Kate could feel the resentment spewing over, particularly on the crumpling edges of the booklet that Ellie was holding.
"Your grandmother is stubborn about this, but just give the officer a chance, for us? She might end up being a good friend." Kate tried to reason with them, but she was also just as reluctant.
Camilla had always wanted the girls out of Marlborough. It was one of the most exclusive schools in Britain and yet she still felt Ellie and Alex were better off somewhere else. Kate always saw this as Camilla wanting to exert the control over her children that she never had with Charles' children, and now that she was at the head of the family it was that much harder to resist her.
This was their compromise, decided months ago. The girls had had no say in how it worked out, but at least Kate was able to pick the officer herself.
"So who is it? Please say it's not that stern, stone faced one with the greasy hair? The one grandma likes?" Alex asked, rather desperately.
"We thankfully avoided that outcome." Will tried to present it as good news but neither of the girls perked up. "It's someone new, recommended by Emma. You'll be comfortable with her."
"That's not so bad, I guess." Alex took a sip from her Coke and looked longingly over at the other table, likely hoping one of the male officers could turn into a woman.
"Ellie?" Kate patted her eldest's arm. "How does that sit with you?"
Ellie didn't meet her gaze and instead dragged a French fry lazily through a dollop of tomato sauce. "Just... don't let her get too in the way. I want to enjoy this year."
She was downcast, sulking. Kate could see the wheels turning in her head, the big plans she had that were suddenly falling through.
"We know Ellie. We want to make sure you both have the best time here possible." Kate tried to reassure her, but Ellie was already closing up, diverting her attention back to her half-crunched booklet and slowly nibbling her way through her lunch.
The mood was low and sluggish as they made their way back to Ivy, gathered around the cars and said their goodbyes to each other. Kate had the stinging feeling of dislike whenever her children looked at her, a feeling that her mother had told her all parents would feel eventually.
"Remember what we agreed, regular Skype calls and you come home when you can." Kate reminded them after she'd given them both bone crushing hugs. She really didn't want to leave with them in this mood.
"I remember Mum, I'm not gonna forget you." Ellie told her, smiling briefly.
"Better not." Kate said in a mock warning tone, but quickly dived back in to give her a kiss on the cheek in case Ellie didn't pick up on the sarcasm.
"Mum." Ellie whined. Will leaned in to give her another kiss after which their daughters were physically pushing them away. "We'll see you soon."
"All right, love you both!" Kate yelled after them as they quickly disappeared, merely waving back at them in response.
"Come on, we better get back to the twins. They'll appreciate us more." Will gently led her back to the car.
"Until they get to school." Kate felt thoroughly disappointed in herself. The increasing security came at the worst time and she could barely lift a finger to stop it, yet she and Will were the ones that Ellie and Alex were taking out their frustrations on.
The long drive home was one of the worst she could remember.

Art Growth Compilation
Tumblr media
I really enjoy doing posts about improvement in art.
It makes me feel better about my work, especially with how busy I am these days.
I wanted to compile all the comparisons I’ve made over the years and kinda discuss the posts, for myself or others.
I thought it’d be funny to start with comparing how I first drew on a tablet, using dodge and burn tools, to how I do now which is using layers and actually painting. It’s funny to look back on that, you know?
I linked the post I made, compiling all the month to month memes from 2003-2017 that I try and do yearly. And everything else is under a cut ;w;’‘/
Tumblr media
Most artists have done a drawing of themselves and a few Pokemon, or their team. I did that in 2010, and was dissatisfied with my work...
I took a crack again in 2013 after I’d learned to draw more animals and not be so Edgy(tm) I really liked the results. I still didn’t use references though, because I was lazy. I just didn’t want to. I still was on that boat feeling like I was CHEATING. I wasn’t being CREATIVE if I looked at references.
Artists get stuck on using reference and it’s AWFUL. USE THEM. USE TWENTY. LEARN!! It’s so HELPFUL, I wish I had started sooner.
In 2014 though -
Tumblr media
I tried again.
I had gotten better at anatomy, but most of all, I started to work off references more. I started to really focus on not stylizing so much, but to work on actually making things look like things. I started to work on caring about COMPARISON sizes. Composition!!
While Pokemon reference sizes are -wiggle hands- and while my team changed up, I was satisfied that I could draw Arbok ACTUALLY like a cobra now, Meowth is easy given it’s just a noseless cat so to speak, Haunter is literally a triangle cloud - I was satisfied having drawn that team.
My secondary team in the new games? I was excited to draw them. It was fresh and new and FUN and it turned out PRECIOUS.
I learned better how to proportion things in an image for layout, and just... making characters feel COHESIVE in the same space.
It was a nice thing to keep visiting. I have a sketch in the works for an update even hopefully.
These pieces are kind of interesting to me too, because they’re towards the end of my era of THIN lineart?
My lineart has gone from this, and THIS,  to this.
Literally I use to not believe in line weight, I can still do thin work of course, but I’m not a fan of trying to FORCE it like I use to? Even the second link, I went from the SMALLEST brush in Sai, to using a marker brush that had barely ANY give, to a custom brush on Sai that acts like a Paint Chat brush I use to use with friends online!
That’s what I mean about style too, like you may reserve yourself about things - like not coloring black in and outlining with white, or certain ways you do things. But the growth and changing and figuring FUN ways to color that black etc is where the fun of art comes in, to me??
Learn. EXPERIMENT. PUSH!
Tumblr media
A few months ago, I did my first redraw. Of this piece from 2012.
Six years difference.
This was interesting for a number of reasons. There’s aspects I like more in the old one, but not many. I really like the pose a bit better, but I like the casual closeness that I did in the new one because that’s more my Shepard.
But technically speaking, it’s worlds better because I took time. I paid attention to details. I did fun things instead of rushing. I took time with my coloring and didn’t SMEAR it around. I had a friend who use to complain I drew so fast and they felt so SLOW, but I love what that taught me. I started taking more time on my art, and enjoying it more since I caught more mistakes and vastly improved. By leaps and bounds.
It’s amazing what a difference six years makes in not only style, which is often a FOCUS of these things? My style has come awkwardly and naturally to me over the years of critically picking certain things apart? but I really love where it’s gotten.
I have things I want to get back to, but I love... where it is, and CAN be?
But it’s wild to me how much change happens in technical handling? It’s a hand in hand thing, you can’t focus on one or the other only, or the other suffers.
Tumblr media
Honestly this has been my favorite improvement to notice though?
Kisame was a character I felt I should be able to draw EASILY? Not so much. Itachi? ALSO EASY. Not so much??
Kisame has weird eyes to grasp how to draw? Thus focusing on them kept making them wonky to me!! On top of that, he’s everything I’ve been use to drawing for AGES because he has a muscular body, with a smaller waist? ... that was something I was use to drawing? I still was awkward getting back into the swing of that... Drawing HIS HAIR though? NOT SO EASY....
But like, Itachi should have been easy, but I have a thing about him appearing too feminine as he gets drawn because his eyelashes, and I’ve really found a nice... medium at this point?
But even still like my face styles and eye styles are finally to a comfortable point for me? I have stopped focusing on some weird things with Itachi’s hair and just... DO IT? But even still like...
The improvement here is literally just if I don’t know how to do something, or I’m not satisfied with how I do it? I just keep at it.
It’s a theme of this post honestly... repetition, persistence.
Keep drawing it. Keep trying to figure out what it is that’s catching you off about how you do it. Don’t like how you do eyes or how they fit on the face? Look at facial structures and references and figure it out. Draw them separate and figure out how to apply them to what you are.
Remember there’s a skull in there. I draw the holes in the skull like the eye sockets, and the nose area to help my proportions for SURE.
I’ve also gotten to a nice marriage in my lineart? The piece before the recent one, those lines feel HARDER or HEAVIER? The newest piece seems...softer? Like I’m lighter handed again?
I really like critiquing my own growth on what is good or working better for me? Older pieces it looks like I’m putting lineweight for SAKE of it versus where it goes now?
INTERESTING.
Like this lineup -
Tumblr media
My style shifts so RAPIDLY, it still is noticeably MY style to people, but parts shift so VIOLENTLY because I’m constantly picking at what I don’t LIKE.
It’s funny too in the case of Kisame and Itachi because consistently I’m drawing the SAME character over and over - can make you REALIZE how you’re doing something wrong?
Tumblr media
Like, here’s a difference of eight years, and it’s all the brush I use now, and it REALLY shows how my style has changed - in the aspect of one point of reference?
I have a childhood favorite character too, of Daisuke, and I use to be bad at drawing boys, and I use to be SUPER bad at drawing fluffy hair?
It was something I specifically started to learn to do? And I started to draw Daisuke every few months or years for a while. Especially when I started to first REALIZE I didn’t like my style that much?
But the middle one was July 2009, top left is less than 6 months later, and the last one is about a year later. DRASTIC DIFFERENCE. But next -
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one was in 2012, when I started to do more with teeth, or first dipping my toes into anatomy. I started to focus more on HANDS too, I was super bad at them. Overall I started to focus more on making my art have...ages? Like a boy versus a man. Facial features being DIFFERENT.
Tumblr media
I can look at this boring little bust and see that he comes off more of a teenage boy to me now. I need to work more on figuring how to draw asian features especially the eyes. Sometimes I hit the mark, other times I don’t.
but between this and 2012? Not too much has changed. I do hair fluffier now, and I angle the eyes better. The teeth not being outlined doesn’t give that weird effect where I might give him TOO MANY TEETH....
People do that and it’s easy but whoof.
So there’s still learning and adapting to do in QUICK drawings, you know? but I can still see there’s good things. That took me like 5 minutes to draw? Not bad honestly.
Tumblr media
In it’s own bracket is original characters though too?? But also divergent of STYLE shifts because like...
OKAY. Nightmare Syndicate’s story.. started for me in 7th or 8th grade, that was when I was...14? 15? I’ve been fleshing it out for like 13 years, that’s wild haha!! I love my kids and all.
Tumblr media
But okay so SIALI. She’s still fairly similar but I restructured her face for SURE. She’s gotten less edgy, she’s.... a teenage girl.
Tumblr media
FELIX?? CHRIST. He’s been such a long journey!! More on that later?
Rot and even Cor?? Rot and Cor are a shorter span of development, but Rot started in Highschool so almost 10 years ago, and Cor has been fairly solid - but even just DRAWING him over three years? Go look at how much he changes.. I’m not married to concepts easily. haha!
People act like making a character you’re STUCK with it. Like Oh boy, I better make this character good, from the get go!!
I only worry about that with small potatoes like my Pillar(Gods) designs I just made for the comic?? Even still, small things will change with them I’m sure.
But not only has Felix and Siali changed, but they’ve GROWN with my style and DEFINED it even. I’ve had to adjust my style to support Felix’s look honestly a LOT. Bend my rules. Break my anatomy stickler attitude - and honestly, that’s the thing.
You have to learn the rules and anatomy BEFORE you can break them. A style built upon broken anatomy will fail you down the road if you just excuse everything with style.
Learn to draw the hands. Learn to draw the feet. Figure out the face. Bones exist. You can break the FUCK out of it once you learn how to do it, you know? Like I’ve seen so many styles I LOVE who are cartoony and BROKEN AS FUCK, but there’s still some STRUCTURE to it. Most of those people can still structure a face just fine, and the reason exaggeration works so well is because there’s like unwritten rules for what works and doesn’t based on that?
Idk.
Felix has a very elongated torso, he’s like 7′ or 8′ tall so I mean?? He’s... broken anatomy, but he’s... lanky - but his muscle is LITHE and stretched. It makes contextual sense. That’s the important part.
But even designs, it’s important to understand designs YOU make, or like... to understand they’ll CHANGE and that’s growth within your art too?
Like okay, example. Felix has a millipede inspired monster form. But with designing that? I still have to know how millipedes and SNAKES work because there's bones and vertebrae in there??
Tumblr media
But there’s also the difference of like... CONCEPT, versus execution. You can design a fucking badass character, but understanding your own concept is SOMETHING.
I had no idea how this would play out, until I was mapping out his ‘midsection’ spikes? and man. MY STYLE WAS MADE FOR THIS CHALLENGE NOW. Which is so interesting how smooth my style has always been? Felix has defined ANGLES in it, and it’s hilarious tbh?
But even too, I’ve had to work with Felix’s monster form FACE, to break the rules to make it WORK the way I need it too?
Tumblr media
On the anatomy subject too, like when I first got into Marvel comics 6 years ago or so? I had no idea how to do muscle structures?? I was so BAD at it.
I can look at this left image and CRINGE so badly at how NONE of those are muscles?? THOSE ARE THINGS I PERCEIVE AS MUSCLES. Like...
A course I took taught me to draw what I see, not what I know. That’s the whole point of that post that goes around about drawing a shrimp. Look it up. It’s hilarious and cute.
But it’s like, asking an artist to draw a bike, you can tell who uses reference and who WINGS it. It’s funny, but like it’s what you know versus what you see.
I started to study anatomy like crazy and was seeing improvements days at a time. The right image was done like... a month later? already I can see the muscles under the pectorals? those look normal now. the abs aren’t dough lumps under the skin in a perfect 6 pack, they’re the actual plane shapes.
I was trying to find a good reference for myself of learning to make men ‘thicker’ too in terms of the waist etc since the left is really...thin.... but...
Tumblr media
A bit better, but even still, comparing these two - they’re 2 months apart? and I can see understanding more about arms and how they connect to the body, where the planes ACTUALLY lay for the chest and obliques and such?
I can see improvements from July 2012 up there, to - WHOOPS. I FORGOT TO CHANGE THE YEAR LMAO... TO FEBRUARY 2013...omg
I mean, I could go on and on about improvements I see, when I go through my art though? Gosh.
Like I’m seeing so SO many bad hands and feet in my old stuff, and just CRINGING because tricks I learned for myself by now?
I give so many pointers and streams and screenshares on discord still to help people with art and it cracks me up?? Like...
I dunno. I’m pretty mediocre tbh, but god damn.

Research For Interior Leaflet Design Of Packaging
Like I said in the previous post, I’m now going to start thinking about the interior of the packaging, to which this is going to be where my leaflet will be. Although, before I produce this, I will need some inspiration to so that I can then use this to guide me as to what direction I want to take my design. So to do this, I will go onto Pinterest and try to find some similar idea that would work with my concept. I know that this leaflet of mine, can’t be too detailed or too busy as it wouldn't then just overcomplicate it. Also, I have a limited space, so I will probably need to arrange mine slightly different to most of my research.
Tumblr media
When I was scrolling on Pinterest after searching in ‘leaflet designs’, I managed to find this this piece above. The reason it drew me in was it gave me the idea of having some of the spaces in my design with only the repeat pattern as this is the main aspect of the design. The reason for this giving me this idea was because I was looking at the coloured sections where it would then have writing in the next box along and switch between these two ideas. Obviously, this leaflet shape is completely different to mine, but I thought that I could try and make this work, where I could somehow alternate between text and pattern.
Additionally, I also had the idea of using some of my illustrations in the design too, so I could pick out certain drawings from the repeat pattern and use them to separate the text. I felt that this could look really engaging as this would still match and connect with everything else. Again this idea came from looking at the symbols that are showing on the coloured sections of this leaflet.
Tumblr media
After finding this previous piece, I then scrolled some more, to which I found this design. I thought this was perfect for my work as it had some elements that I just thought of from looking at the previous piece. I would say this relates even more to my ideas as its showing the top right and the bottom left square as being a pattern with the next on the other two boxes. This was exactly what the concept I had in my head for my own design as I feel that my repeat pattern can be eye catching enough that this is what will draw you in.
There is then some red illustrations that match with the red pattern, which have been place around the text to make it more striking. I could layout my drawings like this and have then positioned in placed that would draw the viewer in to read it.
The other thing I have only just realised is that this design showing in the image above is actually longer, to which the repeat pattern keeps alternated with the text. I feel this could work really nicely on my own packaging as although mine is a square shape, I could have each side altering like this.
Lastly, from looking at this, I can see how the amount of type used is quite minimal, as it looks to me like the sentences aren't actually full. I think they are more of bullet points. I would ay this is better if you want to attract your viewers as it’s not too much for them to get bored.
Tumblr media
Next, I saw this piece, to which I thought it could help, as in some images, it is showing how there is large sections of text, in red writing. Although, I had already decided from the research previously, that I was only going to have small bits of type, I thought that if needed some parts to be full sentences, that this could reassure me that you can leaflets with big sections of type too.
Tumblr media
The last piece of research that I found to help was this, to which I would say its similar to the first bits of research I found as the thing that drew me in was the little icons/drawings that have been placed within the design. these illustrations have all been kept in only a bold red colour, which I think helps to make them standout so much. They other thing is that they are quite fun looking too.
As well as this, I thought that the amount of type used is very eye catching too as again it seems to not be full sentences like some of the other research. However, saying that, I think that some if could be full sentences but the text has been sized down so much that its now quite small. For me work, I need my text to be as big as possible as I ned to it to draw the customers in.
Overall, I feel that now I have gathered some inspiration that will help me to know what sort of layout and end result I’m hoping for, next I will be moving onto designing my own. So I will go back to the same file as when I created exterior as this will then help me to make sure that this interior is going to match with the interior.

The week in review:
Raw 10/26 NXT 10/28 NXT UK 10/29 Smackdown 10/30
Tumblr media
Raw:
Tumblr media
Wonder what 19/11 means.
...Arsenic??... What in the-- WHY IS SHE SO HAPPY ABOUT THIS.
Boy y’all really nailed home how agonizing his suffering was before he died. My head hurts, this show is demented.
My god there are legitimately 2 of these psychopaths now.
wwe production should give Alexa’s voice a reverb effect whenever she says “let him in”
Girl is actually laughing hysterically while Bray ruthlessly murders Rambling Rabbit. Goodbye.
This act works so much better as a duo, Alexa was right in requesting to work with Bray.
Tumblr media
kekekek Shayna makes a list of women she wants on her Survivor Series team; Nia snags the list and sees she’s not on it. Whose idea was this tag team? Need to know who I’m sending a fruit basket to.
Tumblr media
Appreciate Mandy clarifying that Otis and her are still close, but I don’t understand why wwe separated them.
What is with everyone wearing black??
Lmfao this man really tried giving his rose to Shayna SIR PLZ. He had a better chance giving it to Sonya lesbireal.
Dana actually having a decent speaking segment. Half point.
“I feel like this is a joke. Is this like punk’d? Are we-- are we getting punk’d?” Nia came to entertain tonight.
Tumblr media
Why can’t wwe just implement GMs again? Love Adam Pearce but he’s literally just playing the role of GM. Just keep them in the background with the mere purpose of cohesion. Good example: Paige. Bad example: Corbin.
This actually makes sense. You have the tag champs automatically being added, cuz duh, and the tag team who are undefeated since forming and moving to Raw. So have the 5th team member fight for the spot. I don’t hate that at all. At least there’s logic being applied.
I will never not hate Peyton’s theme. Yikes.
WHAT THE FUCK IS NIKKI CROSS’ NEW THEME LMFAO why are we throwing some bland, midwest country rock track with such a slow tempo at her??!? oof rip. Sucks for Nikki that Alexa wanted something more for her career but one could not possibly blame her, so.
Tumblr media
ahahahaha I just noticed Nia took Byron’s seat. She’s so fucking funny.
Look if y’all are gonna do the move where someone lifts you over the top rope to set you on the apron, FUCKING JUMP FOR THEM. They’re not supposed to dead lift you.
Nice kick to Nikki by Lana; sloppy vault over the top rope. It’s kay, she isn’t even the worst one in this match lesbihonest.
Lacey gets Nikki in position for a suplex off the top rope, and Peyton - as quick as can be - jumps in to throw Lacey in a German suplex. That was smooth with very minimal set up. Points.
So Lana steals the win by pinning Nikki and the camera pans to all 4 team members looking absolutely shook. I am dying.
Interesting to see them focus on Peyton’s disappointment.
aaaaand rip Lana for the 6th time.
Tumblr media
Such a jarring remix of Alexa’s song.
I know y’all are super weird and choose to sexualize/fetishize everything that you don’t understand, but I appreciate Alexa’s new persona. It’s like Firefly Funhouse characters meets Disney themed characters (which is core to Alexa) meets Harley Quinn. It’s a fitting cosplay with fitting demeanors. So if y’all could quit talking about ageplay like a bunch of weirdos, that’d be great.
Alexa and I are the same age and tbh I’m kind of shook on her behalf to see her share these segments and storylines with Randy Orton. Like I was a kid watching his feud with triple h. We were mere preadolescent kids lol. Good for her.
I like that she’s immune to Fiend’s name now that she’s fully embraced him become brainwashed.
Omg she’s just sitting on the turnbuckle laughing at them.
So Fiend is just a looming threat to Orton rn? Just letting Orton know that eventually he’ll have to answer for the fire he started all those years ago? I wasn’t here for Bray’s run back then so I’m kind of trying to piece this all together. Anyway fine segment. I don’t much care about Drew vs Orton but I appreciate Orton selling the intensity of the Fiend. He’s a good worker.
Highlight: Completely split between Nia being hilarious & Alexa being creepy as hell

NXT:
Tumblr media
Well at least they’re keeping Ember backstage for her promos. That’s an improvement.
True, Dakota as a babyface was awful. Not sorry. Her character consisted of “scared” and “sad”... That’s it.
Tumblr media
Big fan of the set for nxt tonight.
It’s so rare to see someone handle Rhea, what a nice dynamic.
These 2 are best friends irl, aren’t they? Enjoyable to watch them go punch for punch back and forth. If nothing else, they’re definitely selling that they’re pretty evenly built.
True though, Rhea does have her athleticism going for her. Rhea’s kicks are a beautiful thing to see. Soccer player ftw.
Really like this match. It’s cool to see the range of different matches Rhea can have. It’s not often you see her in an underdog type of role, and you wouldn’t think she could thrive as one, but it works for her just the same as being a dominant powerhouse. Shouldn’t be surprised though, her vs Charlotte at wm was a banger, and Charlotte was definitely the dominant force in that match.
Commentators said Rhea’s inverted cloverleaf has tapped out “many” superstars in nxt, and I just wanna know who? Cuz I have zero recollection of such.
Good showing for Raquel. Gave zero shits about her prior to this. She’s always just been the Diesel to Dakota’s Shawn Michaels.
GREAT counter by Rhea from the one armed powerbomb into nearly a headscissors takedown.
This match is very well paced.
Oh yes, that’s the type of match that easily could’ve gone longer and left me wanting more, which is a hell of a compliment. I underestimated how good this would be.
Tumblr media
Wow they’re having Poppy rob us of Io’s theme song? For shame.
So how does the wheel actually work? Do they really not get a chance to plan out their stip matches? That’s weird. I love it, but it’s weird. Is it rigged? It’s gotta be rigged, right?
Love the black and orange themed ladders.
lmao Candice’s reaction to the bag of body parts. Fantastic.
Did Candice hit Io in the face with a laptop?? Honestly, points.
Lol chalk outlines on the tables. The theme is great.
Oh man, a moonsault straight onto chairs. rip Io’s midsection.
Wicked suplex onto the sitting chair, oof. Looked like Io clipped that.
Meteora into a steel ladder, which then fell on Io. She taking a beating lol.
Commentators mentioning Johnny counter: 3
Kinda cool spot twisting Candice’s ankle in a chair. Of course, it’s not like Candice sold the damaged ankle anyway, so.
Swinging neckbreaker through the tables - a spot that would’ve been great if the commentators had actually sold it and there was a real crowd.
idk who the hell is helping Candice, but I think it’s just fantastic that Shotzi came in to stop them.
“LeRae can’t reach,” as if this match wouldn’t have been over if she would’ve just climbed up one single ring.
Welp Candice is dead now. Fell off the top of the ladder through another ladder. Nasty landing. rip.
Brutal match, but it still wasn’t better than their first match. At least Candice did work and this wasn’t boring unlike their last takeover match. Points for the damage they caused to their bodies, eesh.
Highlight: Rhea vs Raquel
---
NXT UK:
Tumblr media
Oh nice UK added some monitors. Good for them, even if the stream quality is kinda poor.
I like this match up. Dani Luna is an athletic powerhouse, and Valkyrie is an athletic technician. This is more the type of quality match that I’d expect on the MR - minus the storytelling/performance aspect, but that’s okay.
Really appreciate Luna’s strength for how small she seems.
Valkyrie is fun to watch. Her arm drag takedowns and counters are entertaining.
Damn Valkyrie can do a springboard cross body and a pele kick as well? What an intriguing skillset she has.
Holy shit that snap German suplex by Dani was effortlessly CLEAN.
I’m not big on Dani’s look tbh. I feel like she’d be more of a standout if her hair was a different color. I don’t think blue works for her, personally.
An interesting finisher by Valkyrie... I don’t hate it. I’m all for the result, though. Good show of respect between both competitors. Wouldn’t mind watching them again in the future.
Tumblr media
Current day has KLR still as champion (#foreverchampion) but I’m guessing they’re really gonna have Piper be the one to inevitably end it. Should be Valkyrie as far as I’m concerned. Even if she’s trash on the mic - not saying she is cuz I have no idea - she’s super entertaining to watch.
Highlight: Dani Luna vs Valkyrie
---
Smackdown:
Tumblr media
New year, same old Nattie trying to be the Survivor Series captain.
Billie Kay is entertaining but wbk.
Bianca, ma’am, you JUST started going here. Calm down.
“Bianca nobody really cares, or knows, what EST means, it’s totally irrelevant. I’m the boat.” lmao I genuinely love Nattie, not sorry.
SHE CLAPPED AT HER goodbye. Give me a Bianca vs Nattie match, entertain me plz.
Ah a triple threat? That’s fine I suppose, what the hell.
Tumblr media
Why does wwe keep depriving me of Bianca’s entrance? I hate this company.
Billie Kay: *jumps in the ring to catch Bianca in a random pinfall; fails; proceeds to leave the ring once more*
Billie Kay really is a special level of awful, but at least she has character work going for her.
Good cover by Bianca to set up the basement dropkick by Nattie to break up the pin.
Boy Bianca sure did take her time breaking up that sharpshooter. You got both Nattie and Billie Kay screaming and she’s in lala land lmao.
I will genuinely cry if they ever change Bianca’s music, I stg. Good for her btw. Appropriate result.
Tumblr media
What’s the purpose of the polaroid camera?
Soo did they basically give Carmella the layout of Sasha’s gimmick while turning Sasha babyface? Is that what’s going on? What rules is Carmella making? What shots is she calling? Why does this girl have champagne? You know who would rock the “fuck y’all I’m rich, look at my Gucci and diamonds” gimmick? The Ice Queen, Charlotte Flair.
What an adorably tiny cross.
Carmella you’re not really known for winning, but alright.
Hate this music btw.
Tumblr media
Lol this fucking chair. Okay.
“Long time rivalry renewed” didn’t Asuka and Sasha have a minor feud a mere 5 months ago? That lasted one month?? Is that considered long time now???
Sasha’s makeup is off key ngl. I hate that outfit as well.
Yes, yes she was your best friend and that was really sad, but you’re not saying anything different than you have before. And you’re STILL not likeable. But hey, I’m happy for you all the same, now be as entertaining as Bayley plz.
“The whole world knows that you can win a championship, but even you know that you can’t hang onto one. Unlike me.” pppffffttttt she’s not wrong.
Who do I gotta pay to permanently separate you 2? hiac was great, let’s end the debacle now plz.
“You made me sign that hiac contract under duress,” THANK YOU BAYLEY see someone knows their legal jargon.
Peep that gnarly bruise on Bayley’s arm. Whew.
She’s so annoying lmao.
“Backstabbing bitches never win,” hi, Sasha? Longest reigning Raw women’s champion, first ever wm main eventer, first ever women’s dual world champion, face of the company, cover of espn and 2k20 Becky Lynch just called; said that is absolutely not true.
Highlight: Bianca, Billie Kay & Natalya backstage segment
---
*Raw shined the brightest this week, but I have to shout out NXT as well for their 2 matches, particularly Rhea vs Raquel.

Let me introduce myself, my name
is John Davidson and I have been designing residential
architecture projects for over 25 years. I draw homes, cabins,
garages and all types of residential structures. I have drawn 545
homes in the last 10 years and just over the last 3 years I have
drawn over 400 garage plans for contractors and people like you
that I have met through the internet. All of these have been what
is called custom plans that are designed specifically for your
needs. I charge a great deal for this custom service and still
offer this service if you need a set of custom plans.  A
small set of house plans will start at around $900 and a larger
home will costs as much as $5000. Garage plans are less expensive
but a basic 24′ x 24′ garage plan will cost around $250 and larger
garages can cost as much as $500 to have drawn.
But if you are like most people
and just need a set of plans to build your garage and can find one
of our stock plans that will work for your needs. We have
developed a great package for you. 33 complete  plan
construction drawing sets for a fraction of their individual
price.
How can we make this offer
at such a ridiculous price? Let me tell you a story.
I have 3 of my boys working for me drawing plans trying to put
them selves through college and one of them says to me dad, it is
stupid that we can only sell these plans once. I said, what do you
mean and he said, I just drew this cabin plan for a customer and
we sell it once for the $750 and then it goes on the shelf and we
never use it again. Why can’t we make it more generic and sell it
for less and give people a good deal and sell it multiple times. I
said go ahead and try and what he did amazed me. He put this cabin
plan on EBay and started selling it. The cabin plans would get bid
up to $50 or $60 dollars and sell once a week. We then delivered
the plans and started doing it with garage plans as well. We have
been selling plans on Ebay now for 7 years and have a user
feedback rating of 1539 with 100% positive feedback. It is a great
lead generator to our business.
If you are serious about
building and you need a set of plans we have a great offer for
you. These are complete construction drawings used to build these
projects.

20′ x 20′ with Loft TESTIMONIAL #1…
Hi John,
Just attached a pic of my completed garage that i built myself from your
plans… i did not put windows on the sides, instead my wife wanted them
in the front – future flower boxes will go under them… also i doubled up
in the 2×12’s at the stair opening and used joist hangers – this avoided
having the interior wall down stairs….
thanx again everything went great and feel free to use my pic…

John,
Thank you for the plans, I just love my new garage, I finally have a
place to park my boat in out of the weather, everything went great, my
contractor said it was the most complete set of plans he had ever worked
with and wanted to know your contact information so he could have you draw
more plans for him. I will recommend you to all my friends who need to
have a house or garage built. Check out this picture my shop is the envy
of all of my neighbors who wish they had some place to park their toys.

TESTIMONIAL #3…
Hi
John,
I had purchased a customized plan from you back in March. They worked
great! Our city planning/permitting really liked them and it helped the
process go smoothly. Attached is a picture of the little shop we built
with your plans. Thanks Kathy
  I
love woodworking and now have a garage in my back yard that is just full
of every woodworking tool you could imagine. I love having a place to go
out and work on fun projects. I just finished some new chairs on my front
deck and it was nice to have a place to build them. I watch Norm on TV and
these chairs I built from his plans. JD Wyoming

Does our older child need a little more liberty? Your work from home or maybe you just feel that you need another room for a special project that you want to start? Then the solution is to construct a new addition to your garage.
By making an addition to your garage you can add to the living space in your house, no matter what type of garage you own: detached or attached to the house. The space above the garage can be converted into a private living space for your older child, guests or a live-in parent. You can convert your garage into your home office. You could very well find here the peace and quiet needed for your work. Also, the new addition can be converted into a music studio if you put some simple sound proofing measures into place.
In order to start planning for your garage addition, first prepare a budget and then hire a professional because this is a complex project. Also, you may need to hire an architect to help you with the construction plans.
You park your car in the driveway and you still have to work on your projects in the back yard. If you don’t use your garage for its designed purpose, why not turn it into a tidy workshop? Here are five steps to turn your garage in a perfect small home workshop:
1) Create your own workbench from an old door,s ome sawhorses or scrap wood.
2) Mount a pegboard on the wall to store your tools. It would be a great idea to mount it above your workbench. Strategically place pegs according to the type of tools you will be placing on the board. After hanging your tools, trace around them with a marker so you will know where each one goes.
3) Use old jars for holding nails, nuts, bolts and screws.
4) Make a storage box for the rags because they tend to accumulate in the working area.
5) Use a small tackle box for transporting items such as screws and nails as you move around the shop.
If you spend a lot of your time at home in your garage or if you want a clean and organized garage you need a few gadgets. Garage gadgets come in many forms and for different purposes.
For example a stop light for parking may come in handy for someone who has a problem with depth perception or for someone who comes home late from work and is very tired. If you have such problems, you need this tool. It is easy to install and use and it helps you to park the car in the same spot every time when the motion sensors are triggered.
If you need space on the walls next to the door, you can mount a garage door opener on the ceiling above the door to eliminate chains.
Bike storage is ideal in a garage for “hanging” your bike on a wall so you have easy access to it with the advantage of having more clear space in the garage.
If you have a lot more items in your garage than you really have Room for or the walls are full of shelves and cabinets, you definitely need additional storage devices like an overhead storage system mounted directly on the ceiling.
There are four basic types of garage doors and three types of materials commonly used to construct these doors.
If a traditional look is desired for the garage, then the side hung garage door is the usual solution. Side-hung doors can be fitted directly on a wood frame or on bricks.
Another type of garage door is the sectional garage door. These doors are perfect where the space in front of the garage is limited because they open vertically. They are perfect for a new garage that is intended to have an aesthetic appeal.
Similar to sectional garage doors are the roller doors. The door rolls up inside a drum above the opening of the garage door. Also there is no need to allow any room inside or out to operate the door so it would be well suited for limited space in front of the garage.
The last type of door is the most common one, up and over garage door. This is the most popular type. They can be manufactured from timber, steel and GPR materials. They can also be manual or automatic and they are relatively easy to install.
You would probably ask yourself why do you need a facelift for your garage. It is only a garage! But what if you have a two or more cars garage? The garage doors take up a significant portion of the front of the house. What is the use in having a great design for your house but having only generic garage doors?
Nowadays the garage door trends are to incorporate the doors into the design of the house. For example you could choose carriage-style doors(look like they open like old-fashioned doors in carriage houses, but they open like normal garage doors) or you could choose wood carriage doors. These wood carriage doors are reminiscences of the horse-drawn carriage days and they are very popular. You don’t need to go as far as to order custom made garage doors because you can find more appealing garage doors at most home improvement stores.
In addition to the doors, the floor of a garage gives style and can integrate to the overall aesthetics of your house. You could try interlocking garage floor tiles that come in multiple colors and patterns. They are made of polypropylene and are easy to install and clean. Another interesting and practical flooring is the coin shaped G-flooring.
Why do you need a heater for your remodeled garage? The answer for this question is pretty obvious: one of the major disadvantages of using your garage as a workshop or a home office is that it wasn’t meant for that. The garage is the special place reserved for your car, the garage is the room where you keep your lawn and garden accessories.
If you start using this space for other projects that you have, you need to deal with one of the major inconveniences, that is warmth. During the summer you don’t have to worry too much about this but during cold seasons you might find some difficulties in continuing your project because of the very low temperature.
You can find many ways to warm up your workshop- garage. You can try one of the porcelain heaters; they work great and can warm up a good area but they are not meant to warm a large space for a long time.
Another solution for you would be to use a kerosene heater. These heaters are easy to turn on, most of them have an electric starter. It should have a thermostat to be able to regulate the temperature also they have a specific scent, they do function on kerosene! So if you think you cannot handle this smell, a kerosene heater wouldn’t be a good choice for you. They are quite dangerous for your children, if they have access to the garage and you would definitely want to ventilate very well the garage!
A very good and popular choice nowadays is a gas heater. Of course you have to hire a professional to install it. You can find a gas heater suited to your budget for remodeling the garage. There are many models and almost all of them are fairly inexpensive. The main advantage of a gas heater is that it gives you a consistently warm environment. They are available in both manual and thermostatic control types. You would probably prefer a model that has a thermostat, even though its price is a little higher than the price of a manual temperature control model. The only thing that you have to do is to set it on a desired temperature and leave it to do its job.
There are two types of gas heaters: vented and vent less. The vent less unit uses air from the room and the vented model has a system that vents directly out of the garage. The disadvantage of the vent less model is that you have to keep the room vented at all times because the unit uses the air from the room where it has been installed. The main advantage for the both types of gas heaters is that they have a pretty low running cost compared to the kerosene and electric heaters.
Remember that if you choose to install a more advanced heating system like a gas heater, you must ask for a professional’s help.

Ransom Saga - 4
1 / 2 / 3 / You Are Here / 5 / 6
The night air gently brushed against what of her skin wasn’t covered by cape and hood and mask, her wings ruffling in the wind of her flight, and Malkah eagerly filled her lungs with freshness.  It had been years since she’d been out of the Shaded Palace to run an assignment.
According to the King of Plots, the Highnesses couldn’t be trusted with rescuing a vulnerable King of Blades.  That made sense - dragons didn’t become Highnesses of the Night Court if they weren’t ambitious and cutthroat - and so Malkah, the Queen of Poisons, had been selected as the best dragon to fulfill this mission.
She circled once over the clan which the King of Blades was trapped in, high enough that even if anyone looked up they’d only see a small blot against the stars.  Malkah carefully analyzed the positions of the guards, as she’d done every night for the past week.  Their numbers had dwindled to half of what they were.
Had the clan not yet realized their water was being poisoned?
It was a simple enough mixture Malkah had concocted, and which she’d been pouring every night into the pool which supplied the clan’s water.  A bit of nightshade, some belladonna, and a dash of poison harvested from a Serthis’ fangs.  Not rare ingredients, but deadly in combination.  It acted quickly to bring a dragon low, but took its time in killing them.
After all, Malkah thought, tilting in midair to do another lap over the lair, anyone who kidnapped a Majesty was just asking to suffer.
Even as she watched, another guard collapsed, evidenced by the shine of armor as other guards flocked to their side.  Malkah smiled under her mask.
Good.  Their plan was working so far; now it was time for the part she didn’t quite enjoy so much.  If she had her way, she’d just mix a more powerful poison, wait until the entire clan had ingested it, and walk in unopposed to rescue the King of Blades.  However, they couldn’t take the risk that the King of Blades would be given the poisoned water.  The longer this little game of weakening went on, the more likely that was, so Malkah sighed and dipped lower, slipping through the guards’ blind spots and between cracks in the clan wards.
She landed in silence and shadow, flattening her wings under her cape and crouching to the ground.  The lair was quiet except for the gentle clink of movement from armored guards, and the occasional groan of pain from a poisoned dragon.
It was so nice to hear the results of her work.  Malkah smiled once more and slithered through the lair, remembering the King of Plots’ detailed description of the layout.  The den up ahead and to her left was the alchemist’s den - the only dragon with a separate water supply, and therefore not weakened by Malkah’s work.
That would have to be fixed.
Malkah kept her movements silent as a shadow as she nudged aside the curtain covering the alchemist’s door and slipped into his laboratory.  The familiar scent of poisons and potions assaulted her nostrils.  Mmm, was that a paralyzing agent?  She breathed deeply, knowing her mask protected her from inhaling any of the actual poison, and decided it was.  This alchemist was intelligent.
What a shame, she thought as she glanced around and saw him sleeping on a pile of cushions, that he had to die.
It was quick at least.  Malkah uncapped a vial from under her cloak and pried open the Tundra’s mouth.  He didn’t even have a chance to struggle before her signature fast-acting poison was trickling down his throat, and the moment he swallowed, he was doomed.
Malkah kept him silent for the few seconds it took him to convulse his life out.  Then she stepped back and took a look around the alchemist’s lab.
Ah, this was the place he prepared the drug they were using to keep the King of Blades vaguely sedated.  Malkah nudged the ingredients around with a claw, remembered the King of Plots showing her how it was created, and glanced around the lab again.  Crap.  The alchemist didn’t have all the ingredients for an antidote.  Likely he thought there was none, but Malkah already knew she was far more skilled than most legitimate alchemists.
She swept a phytocat claw into a pouch in her cape before taking her leave.  Those claws were annoying to obtain and very, very useful.  It seemed a waste to just leave it here.
Once again she slipped like a shadow through the lair.  There was one more target she wanted to catch before rescuing the King of Blades.  And she was just… up… ahead.
Two guards were posted at the entrance of the Ridgeback’s den, that damned clan leader on whose order the King of Blades had been tortured.  Malkah gritted her teeth and swept her claws quickly across both of their throats, then dragged them into the shadows and scuffed their armor with dirt.  Hopefully their fellow guards wouldn’t find them until it was convenient.
Then Malkah entered the Ridgeback’s den.
Unlike the alchemist, the Ridgeback was not asleep.  She had her back to the door, but she was most definitely awake, studying a map by candlelight.
Malkah closed the door and locked it, glad the Ridgeback didn’t have the common sense to let rust build up on her hinges as a natural alarm.  She slipped forward until she was right next to the Ridgeback.
“You know, that’s called Windstar Bay,” she commented, pointing to the bay between Arcane and Wind marked “Starwind”.
The Ridgeback had fast reflexes.  Unfortunately, Malkah was faster.  By the time the Ridgeback had snarled and snapped at Malkah, she was already dancing away, grinning under her mask.
“Do you threaten every helpful stranger?” she asked, fluttering her wings at the Ridgeback.  The Ridgeback was not pleased.
“Majesty.”
Malkah’s confidence stuttered.  How did this Ridgeback know what she was?  Had the King of Blades betrayed them?  The King of Plots would have told her if that were so.  He’d have seen it in his constant watch over the King of Blades.
Malkah filed that away to study later.
“Have you no respect for a Queen?” she responded.  The Ridgeback bristled.
“I have no respect for lowlifes who creep in the dust, no matter how you might style yourself.”  She drew herself up, apparently trying to look imposing to the smaller Malkah.  “Though I must say, thank you for delivering yourself into my hands.  It makes everything a lot easier when we storm your Shade Palace.”
Ha.  As if she knew where the Shaded Palace was.  Only the Majesties and select Highnesses were privy to that information.
The Ridgeback’s claws were creeping towards a broadsword leaning against a table, Malkah noted.  She didn’t really want to face a broadsword.  And the Ridgeback was showing the telltale signs of stress on top of Malkah’s poisoning - her scales losing their shine, deep shades of blue under her eyes.
Malkah pounced.
It only took a brief tussle with the weakened Ridgeback before Malkah had her pinned, using the magic of earth to create shackles of rock and keep the Ridgeback’s limbs restrained.  Malkah sat on the Ridgeback’s chest and stared down at her.
The Ridgeback snarled and tried to bite her.  Malkah barely leaned back to avoid the sharp teeth.
“Do I have to gag you as well?” she asked calmly, and then before the Ridgeback could respond, a muzzle of stone had already clamped around her mouth.  “That’s better.  Now, listen.  Did you really think you could get away with kidnapping a Majesty?”
The Ridgeback gave a wordless snarl.  Malkah stood up and climbed off the Ridgeback’s chest, instead going to stand by her head and stare into her eyes.
“The Night Court takes care of its own,” she said quietly.  “And any good rulers punish those who dare attack it.”
The Ridgeback writhed in her bonds.  Malkah put one sharp claw on the Ridgeback’s throat, feeling her racing pulse.
“I could kill you right now,” she said conversationally, not showing the disgust she felt at the thought of the Ridgeback’s blood spraying out of her body.  Messy kills had never been her style.  The Ridgeback, however, seemed suitably chastened.  She certainly wasn’t squirming as much.
“But that wouldn’t be fair,” Malkah continued.  “You made the King of Blades suffer and threatened to kill his subjects.  So of course, the fair thing to do would be the same.”
There was fear in the Ridgeback’s eyes now.  Malkah let the muzzle turn to dust, raining on the ground around the Ridgeback’s head, and slipped a full vial from one of the pockets in her cloak.
The Ridgeback opened her mouth to threaten something.  Malkah uncorked the vial and poured the mixture inside right down the Ridgeback’s throat.
As she sputtered and choked, Malkah calmly corked the vial again and replaced it.  “Would you like to know what that was?” she asked, and then without waiting for an answer, she continued.  “It’s one of my favorite poisons.  It’ll paralyze you for days, turning you into little more than a living, breathing doll.  You’ll be unable to move from this position.  You’ll be left helpless as your clan dies around you, and then you’ll die from starvation and lack of water.  It’s a rather slow death.”
The Ridgeback gurgled.  Malkah let the chains dissolve into dust as well and watched the Ridgeback try to scramble up and spit out the poison.  It was a very concentrated dose, though.  Even half of that vial would have been enough to take down a Guardian.  A Ridgeback of this size didn’t stand a chance.
Malkah watched as the Ridgeback’s muscles stiffened up, and her legs gave out under her.  She crashed to the floor in the position she’d be stuck in for the rest of her life.
She reached out and patted the Ridgeback’s head condescendingly, enjoying the rage and terror expressed in the Ridgeback’s eyes.
“And if you’re hoping your alchemist will save you, you’re out of luck,” she added.  “He has all the ingredients for the antidote, but he’s very, very dead.  He’s lucky.  He got the fastest death of any member of your clan.”
That little spark of hope died in the Ridgeback’s eyes.  Malkah always loved seeing that.  She couldn’t stop herself from grinning behind her mask.
“And this, in case you’re wondering,” she couldn’t resist adding, “is why dragons don’t challenge the Night Court.”
The Ridgeback tried to growl.  It came out as a pathetic gurgle.  Malkah fastened her teeth in the Ridgeback’s scruff, tasting blood and not even trying to be gentle, then dragged her to the door where she’d have a good view as her clan went into their death throes.
“Stay,” she joked, and then walked away.
More guards had gone down.  Malkah stuck to the shadows once more and slipped past the heap of groaning dragons, quickly killed the guard posted at the entrance of the half-underground den which the King of Plots had said was this clan’s prison, and entered.
Cells lined the long hall.  Malkah heard the groans and breaths of tortured dragons behind each one.  She ignored them all, purposefully moving down the hall to the only one with a guard posted outside it.
He was asleep on duty.  Malkah stared down at the sleeping Pearlcatcher, then sighed, trickled a dose of the same poison she’d given the alchemist into his mouth, and let him go through his death throes before searching his belt of keys.  He wasn’t necessarily worth killing, no, but he wasn’t worth leaving alive either.
Ah.  Here was the key the King of Plots had seen in his scrying.  Malkah detached it from the ring and opened the cell.
The moment the door swung open, Malkah recoiled.  Her mask protected her from inhaling poisons, but the rank stench of blood and fear that permeated this cell was a poison in itself.
She swallowed hard and stepped inside.  The walls once had been gray, it seemed, but now they were the rust-brown of dried blood.  A glass of untouched water sat on a tray of gnawed-at scraps.  Malkah took another timid step into the cell.  Was the King of Blades gone?
No, he was curled up in a corner.  Malkah’s eyes had just gone over him in the darkness.  Metal chains locked his limbs into stillness, and his eyes were closed.  Wounds both half-healed and new laced his body and distorted the swirling smoke patterns over his scales.
Malkah carefully picked her way across the cell and crouched at his side.
“Blades,” she hissed.  “Blades, wake up.”
For a moment, he didn’t stir, and Malkah wondered if he’d been killed.  But then a small tremor went through those black wings, and the King of Blades opened heavy eyelids, the normally bright orange of his eyes dull and sick.
“Poisons?” he whispered, his voice hoarse and dry from lack of water.  Malkah reached for the chains and used the magic of Earth to rust them off.
“Come on,” she said, and stood up.  The King of Blades struggled to his feet.  His limbs were raw, the scales rubbed off, where the chains had been.  He wasn’t going to be able to fly.
Then he turned his head, and Malkah forgot everything else.  The wounds on his body and his gaunt appearance paled to her sight.
Across the King’s right eye, a clawmark marred his face, deep enough that Malkah knew immediately it wouldn’t heal without a scar.  Blood matted the scales around it and it was swelled shut.
“Blades,” she whispered, automatically recoiling from it.  The King of Blades watched her with his good eye.
“I know,” he rasped.  “Poisons, listen.  We have a spy.  Someone… Someone’s betrayed us.”
A shock ran through Malkah.  Betrayed?  Who would be stupid enough to betray the Night Court?
“They knew…” the King of Blades started, then he wobbled on his feet.  Malkah barely managed to reach out and keep his skull from cracking against the bloodwashed stone as he collapsed.
Well, of all the shade-touched cursed plots in Sornieth.
Malkah nudged the King of Blades again, but it seemed he was well and truly unconscious.  She sighed and lifted him onto her shoulders.  His ropy body instinctively curled around her, Malkah only rearranging him to free her wings.
Then she turned and left the stinking cell.
A traitor in the Night Court.  The implications rocked Malkah’s thoughts so much that she barely heard the tortured breaths of the dragons in the cells on either side.  They didn’t matter.  The King of Plots had said no other Night Court member was captive here.
Malkah exited the prisons, then in a fit of spite, slammed her claws into the ground.  The earthen mound collapsed in on itself and quietly buried alive everyone inside.  The King of Blades’ soft breaths sounded in Malkah’s ear, infuriating her more.
A spy in the Night Court.  Malkah reared up, ignoring the cries of alarm from the guards, and took to the skies, easily avoiding the missiles shot her way.  It didn’t matter.  They’d all be dead soon enough, and then the Ridgeback would slowly starve to death in the midst of her clanmates.
A spy in the Night Court.
Malkah only stopped once - at the pool of water which the clan drew from - and dumped a stronger dose of poison into it.  With the King of Blades safe on her back, there was no longer any fear about killing everyone in that clan, but Malkah wanted them to suffer still.
She watched as the poison mixed with the clear water, then the pool stilled, leaving no sign it was tampered with.  The King of Blades curled tighter around her.
The Queen of Poisons clawed her way into the sky again, flying for the Shaded Palace, rage in every wingbeat.

Rinse and Repeat Chapter 2
As a Lunar New Year’s gift, this is the second chapter of the “Kenshin runs a laundromat” AU! It’s been a while but come on, given how shoddy 2017 is already, we need some healing slice-of-life. First chapter can be found on my Fics page, under Ruroken Week 2016, and the FF.net link is here.
Chapter 2: Moving In
As she stood before her door, Kaoru stared in amazement. “Really? This is all you have?” Kenshin had dropped off a duffel bag before he made a last trip to his ruined apartment. Now, he had just driven up with a large backpack.
He nodded. That really was all. “This one doesn’t have many belongings.”
“And one of them is a moped.” She pointedly looked over his vehicle. She had remembered him driving her home on it, but she hadn’t seen it in the daylight until now. “Magenta is an…interesting color.”
He gave a wry smile as he dismounted. “It was used, but it was the best one offered. Is it alright if this one leaves it in the shed?”
“Yes, of course. There’s plenty of space.” She gingerly lifted his duffel bag with her good arm and frowned. “What is in here? Don’t tell me you collect rocks.”
“Oro!” He smiled as he took it from her. “It’s because of this one’s cooking utensils.”
She thought of offering her own, but if Kenshin was more comfortable with his, she wouldn’t argue. “Okay. Let’s start with the kitchen, so I can show you where I keep everything.” She had stayed up late last night, scrubbing the stove. But at least, she wasn’t embarrassed when they went inside.
The house had been built in the Meiji era, but it had undergone multiple renovations since. Kaoru now lived in the eleventh remake, and while she appreciated indoor plumbing, it was still too big and quiet for her.
After motioning him to leave the bags on the floor, she began to inform of the kitchen layout. “Alright. So, the drawers down here…Kenshin?”
He had been looking around in awe, but he gave a sheepish shrug when he met her gaze. “Forgive this one. You were saying?”
She shook her head, smiling. “If you want a tour first, you could say so.”
“This one didn’t want to intrude more than he already has. This one can wait, Kaoru-dono.” He drew closer, reaching over to unzip the duffel bag. He smelled nice: clean and ordinary.
Like soap. He runs a laundromat, remember? She scolded herself before saying aloud. “Alright then.” Quickly, she helped him sort out the kitchenware. He had managed to pack a sizeable pot as well as a frying pan, and she didn’t know whether to be impressed or stunned.
“No cups?” The bag had been emptied, and she surveyed the countertop once more. There were plastic plates and bowls bought from the hundred-yen store, spoons to match, and wooden chopsticks. She assumed the taped box held knives.
“This one only had one and it broke during the move to Tokyo.” He explained. “This one has been using disposable cups.”
“Then, you can take one of mine. I have a set of cups, and ceramic dishes too. Feel free to use them.”
To her surprise, he swallowed with hesitation. When he spoke, it was in a murmur. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. But really, it’s not a problem.” She turned to move the spoons into their rightful drawer. “Where did you live before moving here?”
He put away the bowls as he answered. “On the road. This one worked odd jobs, so this one has always been moving. The last place was Shizuoka, but this one came to Tokyo to start the laundry business.”
“I see.” She pressed her lips together. “That didn’t sound like an easy life.”
“It was bearable, but it was a little lonely.” He sounded solemn, and she briefly wondered how long he had lived like that. But he changed the subject. “Kaoru-dono, where are the pots kept?” She directed him to the cabinets, and he found her rice cooker stored there too. “This is a good one.” He remarked.
“Really? Because I always end up getting porridge from it.” She confessed.
“You may be adding too much water.”
“But how is it going to cook right?”
“It will work. Can this one show you later?”
“Like I said, feel free to use it. You still have to keep your promise about cooking your rent.” She added with a grin, and he smiled back.
“Yes, of course.”
Once the kitchen was in order, she gestured to the adjacent sitting area. “The television doesn’t have satellite, but if you want more than news, we can discuss that. The table’s big, but Otou-san and I always invited the students to dinner, once the competitions end.” Her gaze drifted to the altar in the corner, but she abruptly looked away. If she kept going, she couldn’t think about how much she missed him. She took a breath and walked on. “There are two bathrooms. One’s for guests, if you go around the kitchen. The other’s in the hall closer to the bedrooms, and that has the tub.” She didn’t bother to open the doors, and he nodded when she pointed them out.
There were four bedrooms, and Kenshin’s was the furthest one down the hallway. She had felt slightly guilty about sequestering him there, but that room seemed to be the only option. She couldn’t quite bring herself to remove everything from her father’s, and the other spare was brimming with kendo gear.
However, Kenshin didn’t mind. He stepped inside, his eyes taking in the bare walls and floor. He turned to her, with a wide smile. “Thank you, Kaoru-dono. This one will surely sleep well.”
“I hope so. Oh! I’ll get your bedding from the closet. You can sleep on a futon, right?”
“Yes, this one prefers it.”
“I figured as much. By the way, this room’s window has the best view of the yard. See, the maple tree’s budding.”
He glanced out. “So it is.” He looked very calm, as the sunlight shone on his red hair. The tension seemed to leave his shoulders, and his lips curved upward. His scarred cheek creased a little, as if lightening the mark. “Kaoru-dono?”
“Huh?” She jolted. She had been staring, she realized, and warmth flooded her face. “W-what is it?”
“Is that a garden?” He was referring to the weedy patch near the fence.
“Oh. Right, that was my mother’s. It’s overgrown, isn’t it? The plants haven’t been properly cared for; she passed away when I was in elementary school. Do you want to try?” She was rambling, desperate for her voice to block out the sound of her accelerated heartbeat.
“This one would like to, if it’s alright. It’s cheaper to grow herbs at home.” He mulled it over, murmuring a list of plants she didn’t know. Then, he smiled at her. “Would you like anything?”
It didn’t take her long to decide. “I like sunflowers. If you could find jasmine too, that would be great. So, um, you can decide everything else while I get your futon.” The embarrassment hadn’t quite left her, and she hurried off.
***
Within a week, they had fallen into a routine. Her classes started early, but instead of groaning at the sound of her alarm clock, she was lured out of her bedroom by Kenshin’s cooking. He had mentioned that he only learned from the Internet, although it was more likely that he was a chef in his past life. Even toast was somehow good.
She had long tired of eating meals in silence, during breakfast, so she took it upon herself to talk to him. Usually, the subject was about kendo and her students. He was genuinely interested, although he politely declined offers to observe practice. Well, he’d accept one of these days.
Then, they went their separate ways and she’d give a cheerful smile. “I’m off, see you later!”
“Walk safely.” He would wave in return, before heading in the direction of his laundromat.
The last lecture ended after lunch, and she taught for two hours at the dojo. The rumors had subsided, and she had Kenshin to thank for that. He hadn’t taken any of the credit, but her father’s former coworkers had informed her, while they were ensuring that he wouldn’t harm her. As overprotective and nosy as they were, she appreciated how supportive they were, and quite a few of her students were their children. This network of social connections had saved her from being overwhelmed by Otou-san’s death. It was hard to feel like crying, when a child performed a perfect kata and the parents applauded with delight. And if she stayed at the dojo, she wouldn’t have to go home, not until the last student left.
Most of the time, that student was Yahiko. Kaoru wasn’t aware of all the details, only that his mother had been hospitalized for a while. He didn’t like to talk about it, and he busied himself by furiously cleaning equipment until his stepfather arrived. Kaoru sensed that their relationship was sour, but when she tried to bring it up, Yahiko would spit the old insult of ‘hag’ at her. She had talked to the police officers among the parents, yet the only advice she received was to watch for proof of abuse. She did her best, before for the day. After she had showered and begun her homework, Kenshin returned to the house by gently excusing his intrusion. She made sure to warmly greet him, hoping that his formality would wear off.
“Even if it’s just for now, you live here, so you should say it.” She had told him.
“Oro…” But each time, his protest was a little weaker.
It was the end of the week, when he finally said the words she had been waiting to hear. His voice was soft, but sure. “…This one is home.”
She beamed. “Welcome home!”
It was a simple routine, but it was a comfortable one.
***
They prepared dinner together, with Kenshin handling most of the work. Kaoru still left the rice to him, but she wasn’t bad at cutting vegetables. She set down the knife to wipe her forehead, and she stole a glance at Kenshin. He was grilling the fish, and his sleeves were rolled up to his elbows. His arms were slender, but he flipped the fish like it was nothing. He must have noticed that she stopped cutting, because he suddenly met her gaze.
Crap! Um, I have to say something…
“You know, you don’t always have to cook.” She blurted and immediately clarified. “Not that your cooking isn’t great, it is! But since you’re new to Tokyo, I want to show you the best restaurants. Well, the best ones that are cheap.”
Ack, I made it worse, didn’t I?!
“That’s a good idea.” He gave her a smile. “Then, this one will leave it to you, if you’re thinking of anything in particular.”
“O-okay.” She returned to the vegetables with renewed vigor. Her focus wasn’t disturbed again, until someone knocked at the door. “I’ll get it.” However, when she opened up, she was startled to see who the late visitor was.
Yahiko stood before her, his hair disheveled from sprinting. His backpack was slung over his shoulder, and he glowered. “I ran away.”
“Yahiko…” She reached out to him, but he stormed past her to enter the house.
“I’m sick of him. I don’t want to live with him anymore, so I’ll just-” He stopped, at the sight of Kenshin setting the table. “Is this a date? Blech.”
“That’s not what this is!” A hot flush of embarrassment flooded her. “He’s living here until his apartment gets fixed. Anyway, just tell me about what happened.”
“I already told you, I’m just sick of him.” He sullenly replied, and she frowned.
Kenshin spoke up. “Yahiko, can we tend to your ankle?”
“Huh?” Kaoru glanced over her student. It was slight, but he was favoring his right leg. At Kenshin’s remark, he had tried to switch over, but the adjustment made him wince. She scowled. “You are hurt! Here, sit down and let me have a look.”
He must have been tired, because he grudgingly obeyed. His ankle was a little swollen, she noticed, and there was the beginning of a bruise.
Kenshin brought over the first aid kit. “Are you hungry, Yahiko? Dinner is almost ready.”
“I’m not hungry.”
“In that case, stay still.” She undid some tape off the roll and set to work. She wasn’t a master, but her bandaging was adequate. “Not too tight?”
“No.” Then, his stomach growled, and she and Kenshin laughed. “Hey!”
The meal was a little lighter than usual, but the company was worth it. After the dishes were cleared, she addressed Yahiko. “I can’t prepare the spare room in time, but you can take my room.”
“And where are you going to sleep?” He snorted.
“On the couch, of course.”
Kenshin didn’t take to that idea. “Kaoru-dono, that won’t be necessary. This one can sleep on the couch while Yahiko takes this one’s room.”
“You’re both my guests, so you can take the rooms.” She argued. “I’ll clear the other spare tomorrow.” It would probably take all day, just to get the kendo gear out of the house, and her arm was still healing. But the options were limited.
He turned to Yahiko. “What would you prefer? It’s up to you.”
“…I’d rather take yours. As if I can stay in a girl’s room.” Yahiko made a face.
“I’ll have you know it’s clean.” She defended. “Kenshin, is this really alright with you?”
“Yes, the couch isn’t bad at all.”
And so, for the first time in a decade, three people slept in her house.
***
In the morning, there was another visitor. Kaoru was barely awake, but she faintly registered Kenshin stepping out. He closed the door behind him, and she tiptoed out of her room to press her ear against the wood.
“…arrested last night. The mother led us back to here, but to think you’d be here as well...” It was an unfamiliar voice, and there was the brief click of a lighter. “I heard the owner of this house is a young woman. Who knew, you had connections in this city…”
Indignation flared within her. Whoever this was, he was incredibly rude!
“Saito…” Kenshin’s intense tone surprised her. For a brief moment, it was as if the air had chilled.
“I was joking.” Papers rustled. “Here are the documents. They should be returned by today.” Then, he left, judging by the squeal of car tires.
Kaoru gingerly walked backwards, and just in time. Kenshin returned inside, widening his eyes when he saw her.
Luckily, her voice was still drowsy. “Morning, Kenshin.”
“Good morning, Kaoru-dono.” He smiled, but it was strained. “Yahiko’s stepfather was arrested, and it seems that these documents must be filled out, for Yahiko to remain here.”
“I see.” She took the papers. “Who dropped them off?”
“It was a police officer.”
That didn’t sound like anyone from her father’s division. But how did Kenshin know this person, when he was new to Tokyo? She wanted to ask, but she stopped herself. Kenshin had his own past, and that didn’t matter to her. Kenshin was the man who owned a laundromat, who helped her when she was in trouble. Already, the garden was faring well under his touch; there were little sprouts already. And he was happy. He looked so pleased when she complimented his food, and he was genuine when he talked to her. If his past added weight to his smile like that, she wouldn’t bring it up.
She glanced through the papers. “Kenshin?”
“Yes, Kaoru-dono?”
“You’ll have to help me clear the spare room. And tonight, we’re going to eat hotpot at the Akabeko.”
“Oro? To celebrate Yahiko’s moving in?”
“For both of you.” She corrected. “My treat.”
He pressed the back of his hand against her forehead, and tested his own. “Ah, there’s no fever.”
“Geez, of course not!” She huffed. “I just want to celebrate, since we all don’t have to be alone anymore…well, if you don’t want to-”
“This one wants to. Very much.” He was serious, and her heart suddenly pounded.
The moment was shattered by Yahiko’s shout from the bathroom. “Hey, how do you turn on the hot water?”
“This one will show him.” Kenshin excused himself. “After breakfast, this one will help you.”
“Thank you.” She managed to nod, and as soon as he was out of sight, she hurried down the hallway.
If she started cleaning up now, there would still be time to prepare for tonight’s dinner.

In my previous post I gave hints and tips about starting a Bullet Journal for bloggers, with advice about materials that can be used.
This post is about setting up pages – or SPREADS as they are known in the Bullet Journal community.
Before I even started, I worked out what I needed to help with my blogging activities each month.
A monthly overview (1 page) A weekly calendar that would incorporate my To Do lists (4-5 pages) Blog post ideas and earnings (1 page) A daily checklist with a list of blogging tasks and stat tracker for the month that would incorporate clients social media trackers too (1 page)
I also wanted to include
An overview of the year – this is called a FUTURE LOG (1 page) A blog and social media stat tracker overview for the year (1 page) A yearly earnings tracker (1 page) Social Media sharing days (1 page)
Tips Before Starting a Spread
Do some research first! Watch tutorials and check out instagram images for inspiration.
Map everything out first (if you’re like me, I wanted the whole year to fit into one journal). I made a pencil note on each page what sort of content will be featured to make sure I had enough space.
Draw and write things out in pencil first, and DOUBLE-CHECK before you go over it in pen.
Future Log
A future log is an overview of the year. It keeps a record of all of the events for the year in one space, making it easy to see at-a-glance anything important that is coming up. I decided to put my future log on one page and created a calendar for each month with a space underneath to write birthdays and events.
This is in basic format – I may add in colour and decoration later on.
Future logs don’t have to be put just on one page though – check out this idea from study.nary
Contents Page and Key
It’s advised that you create a contents page at the front so you can keep an idea of where everything is. Some find it useful, others don’t. I decided to create one as this is my first Bullet Journal, and in my next I will evaluate whether it is necessary or not.
After the contents page, some also choose to write a key to use within their journals. Some are quite complicated in my opinion, so I use a simple system: I colour a square in if I complete it, I keep it blank if I haven’t. As this journal is solely for blogging I don’t need to colour code according to category, but I have seen some use different shapes and colours to represent different aspects of their lives.
Monthly Overview
I find it easier to follow things in a linear fashion – traditional calendar layouts don’t work as well for me – so for my monthly overview I drew lines in pencil, added the dates and then added the days for each date next to it. At the bottom I created a space for notes. It’s simple, it’s basic and it looks like a list, which I love.
However, many choose to do the monthly overview in the form of a calendar-style grid and include notes, events, goals etc around it. Here’s two ideas from giulsjournal and Leah Kim that are simple and well laid out.
Weekly Spreads
I wanted to do one page per week, which would give me enough space to write down daily tasks (my To Do lists) that aren’t part of my daily checklist. I also decided to cut about a centimetre off the edge of the page so it would feel separated from the other pages in that month. The design of the weekly plan is entirely up to you and I have included two examples below to demonstrate how I have changed it up from month to month, altering the writing and layout style.
However, there are lots of different ways of setting you pages out – your week can go over two pages, or the page can be used in a vertical way. Check out these ideas from the extremely talented AmandaRachDoodles
#gallery-0-19 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-19 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-19 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-19 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Daily Checklist
This was the most important spread for me – I have been following the same daily checklist for the last two years. I have a list of tasks to complete or schedule, and I use it to track what I have done with my own blog and social media and (as I am a Social Media Manager for Twitter and Pinterest), what I have done for my clients social media accounts that day. I followed exactly the same layout that I have always used and drew a grid, with the intention being to colour in the squares as I have completed each task, and then rub out the pencil lines later. On the same page I have included my monthly stats tracker in an easy format so I can record the growth (hopefully) of my blog and social media accounts, and have included space to record the amount of referrals I receive from each area. At the bottom I have included space to include any clients social media account trackers too. At the minute a large percentage has been left blank because 1/ I don’t know what clients I will have then, and 2/ I wouldn’t want to include their names if I did.
Blog Ideas and Earnings
I am always jotting down notes about potential blog post ideas or something to try, so I have saved a space for this in each month. On the same page, I have also included a space for my earnings. All of the lines have been done in pencil so I can rub them out afterwards and add in further decoration should I wish to.
I have decided to stick to this format – again, I like a linear format, but I have seen this sort of idea done in grid form too. At the front of the Bullet Journal I have also created a yearly overview of earnings, separated out by month.
Title Pages
Some choose to separate each month out with a title page, and as I have little artistic talent I try to keep them as simple as possible. Some add in a calendar view, others choose to leave it blank. These are two examples of the title pages that I have created, inspired by numerous YouTube tutorials that I have watched (I will add in useful links when I find them again):
I really liked this design from wikas-view for her September spreads – I think including a quote and goals with it is a nice touch…
To separate the months out, I have started to add washi tape (yay – and excuse to use washi tape) over the edge of my title pages, almost acting as dividers.
This the very basic set up for a Bullet Journal for blogging. There are individual pages that can be added in at later dates, but these ideas allow me to track everything that I need to in my blogging adventures…
Gained some ideas? What would you include in a Bullet Journal?
Stay tuned for Part 3: Banners, Headers and Decoration!

About Home Flooring
When we bought the house I had zero intention of replacing the original flooring. I have, what many might call, the ‘if you can’t see it in a photo, then it doesn’t exist’ syndrome – it mostly affects life-style bloggers. When the previous owner’s furniture was in, I didn’t notice the condition of the floors.
The 2? oak flooring was 126 years old and after years of the elements, and many times being refinished it was absolutely done. When our contractor came in to quote for the job, he said, ‘there is no way this floor can be salvaged’. That was not in my plan (nor the budget). My hope had been to simply refinish them. Sand, stain, easy peasy! You may or may not be able to see in the photos but the floors are insanely bleached/dried from the sun (yes, we are doing LLumar window film to prevent this from happening to our beautiful new floors, just like we did in our old place since we loved it so much).
I felt really, really bad ripping out the flooring. They were ORIGINAL. But then our contractor (and everyone else) told us that these floors weren’t particularly unique. They were un-refinishable, replaceable 2? oak. They were also stained with cat/animal pee and bleached a lot by the sun. Fine. You don’t have to twist my arm.
Tumblr media
I started fantasizing…. Is THIS the time that I finally have a herringbone floor? I’ve wanted one forever, but I truly think it only belongs in older style homes (70 + years) – which I finally had!! If you have a brand new home then go for a new pattern or extra wide straight planks. If you have a mid century then do something appropriate to that time period because the traditional herringbone belongs in a European style or older world style home. Brooklyn Brownstone?
I didn’t really know where to start. I had ordered a lot of flooring from BuildDirect before and their service/product had always been great. But herringbone? Surely they wouldn’t have an option. But they had one on their site, white oak, but with only one simple iphone photo that was seriously not doing it justice. I was skeptical but figured ordering a sample wouldn’t hurt. When I received it, I was shocked at how good it was. Such pretty wood, with tongue and groove connection and a great scale. Here’s how it looked, unfinished in a little moodboard we created when we started the design process.
We LOVED it. Soon after, we confirmed the order and it arrived within weeks in 3-4 weeks (the straight plank normally comes quicker, but this is made to order). Now, one thing to note is that it’s not pre-finished, in other words you have the additional cost of staining, sanding, then staining (and sanding) on-site. This really depends on your square footage but could be anywhere between $1.50 and $4.00 per square foot. We decided to go for it as we loved the look of the wood.
In it came and down it went. We let it acclimate for a week (they recommended two but we were RUSHING). If you are doing herringbone, hire a VERY good installer. Our flooring contractor was super meticulous and took a lot of pride in making sure that it was perfect. Also start the pattern the in middle of the room and work your way towards the sides.
We needed to figure out the orientation of the whole house, which isn’t as easy as you think. Sure the living room was easy but what happens everywhere else, once the angles of the walls change? We drew a map and a little guide to help us determine how it would all go down.
There were a few awkward areas where we just used a straight plank to separate the herringbone from the straight – like between the kitchen and entry.
Next we chose the stain color. We wanted it to be medium toned – not too dark. Dark could look amazing but our general aesthetic as you know is light and bright (again, it’s a So-Cal thing). In case you missed how we lightened and brought life back to the houses beams head HERE. One of the furniture carpenters we work with gave me the tip to use Bona sealant (with no color or stain) to simply bring out the color, seal it safely, without making it look darker. We sampled a rectangle on the floor – below.
And it was a unanimous and instant decision. I’m typically REALLY slow at permanent decisions like this, needing at least a few days to feel the confidence to pull triggers, but Brian, Ginny, Mel, Scott and myself ALL agreed immediately that it was perfect (I like how I pretended to make that decision by myself…..) We were right! It could have gone darker and would still be STUNNING but what can I say? I like a bright house. You’ll also notice that we put a border around the living room to add a traditional detail. It’s subtle, but a pretty way to finish it off.
I’m just obsessed. The only time we could take ‘before’ photos where the protective paper was off the floor but the furniture wasn’t in yet was the morning that we moved in, at the time of day when the sun was BLASTING. So I’m sorry it’s not more clear but over the next few months and years you’ll see ample usage of this beautiful floor.
Above and below you can see the transition where the hardwoods floors went from herringbone to straight plank. We also replaced the stairs after realizing that the subfloor was practically falling apart. It now no longer squeaks or creeks and man, now that we are living there with two kids and realize how much sound carries, I am SO grateful that we fixed them. Charlie all of a sudden insists on keeping his door open when he sleeps, and those creeks would’ve ruined my nights/life.
Now in the entry/den and upstairs we opted for straight plank over the herringbone. We were tempted to do the herringbone but honestly we felt that it should be a feature in a couple special rooms, not in the whole house. It’s not that we would get sick of it, but more like it’s so special that we didn’t want to get too used to it and have it everywhere so that we stopped noticing it. But as you can see the straight plank is just as pretty and simple. It’s white oak, practically unstained (sealed with Bona)
I love both the straight and the herringbone so much and so does every single person who comes over. This is how the master was looking after everything was finished and before we moved in. I have zero regrets with the flooring. NOT ONE. We nailed it (pun, intended) and I’m so glad that we took the risk and replaced that lovely old, falling apart wood with an even lovelier, stronger wood that will keep the house alive and sound for so much longer. Ok, here’s the pertinent information: We used: 707 square feet of Herringbone (103 in kitchen, 178 in dining room and 426 in living). We ordered 12% overage for a total of $791.84 of Herringbone for a total of $3, 674.88 (materials, not labor)
For the Straight Plank, we needed 1075 sq ft including 10% overage for the rest of the house, + 160 linear feet for the border, totaling: $3, 472.90. So how much was the labor? I wish I had an easy answer for you. It was $18k for the entire house – to demo, remove, repair all the sub-floor – which was extremely damaged and rotting, – plus install, prep, sand, stain, sand, stain, seal, etc. This included both floors and the stairs – roughly 1800 square feet. God, that’s a $10 a square foot for installation! Nuts, but definitely worth it. I loved this house before we did anything to it, but now it feels more solid and secure, not to mention bright and airy. When every step you take is creaky, squeaky and loose with nails, that charm quickly turns into worry. Now we worry no longer.
These before and afters are making me so happy. That living room is looking gorgeous (see how we refinished the faux painted beams here). You can really see some of the damage in the below pic. I would say it is a vast improvement. The entry area into the kitchen looks brand new as well. In case you missed the post where we talked about how we rearranged the layout click through HERE for the upstairs, and HERE for the main floor. The upstairs honestly looked great before. Had we been able to refinish it we would have.
But the after is nice, too  (plus we repaired all the windows so that we could actually open them!) The painted brown doors bummed me out (please note, these were PAINTED not stained) so we painted them white and the upstairs hallway looks 10 times the size.
I asked my contractor how much more installing herringbone is than straight plank and he said about 30% more labor, and if you purchase unfinished like we did then the average cost of staining hardwood is between $1.50 – $4.00 per square foot. Ultimately you’ll want to get a couple quotes to compare, but hopefully that gives you a good idea of how much replacing or installing herringbone or straight plank costs.
A huge thanks to Build Direct for gifting their beautiful wood. They were so easy to work with from start to finish and their selection, customer service and availability to answer any of my questions along the way made the process so easy. I’m happy to say that so many people have already purchased it from my Instagram’s and insta-stories and people love it. They also have just launched their new Design Center – Kitchen Edition, which is a such a great tool to help you design and build out your kitchen or bathroom in a 3D model to help you visualize how it is all going to come together. Speaking of kitchens, in case you missed the full reveal of ours, click through HERE.
Hopefully I covered everything. In a perfect world I would have stained the wood 10 different shades for you to look at, but you can’t just use any stain on flooring and my flooring guy, however great as he was, he wasn’t interested in that homework since we had already so quickly decided on the stain. But, feel free to order extra samples and do that yourself if you are going for a different look or vibe.

This is the final serious post for my third year blog. Overall my year was amazing, I had a great time and I feel better than I ever have in life. But you probably want to hear about my work.
Like all years I feel like the biggest problem I faced this year was time. I know I can do everything well from animation to set making and even essay writing. But doing ALL of them to a high quality is something I cannot manage. Because of that I feel like some of my work slipped a little to make room for my film. For example my DVD cover was less than exceptional and this saddened me because I know I could have made a really good one. I could have written an intriguing blurb, created a fun layout and drew nice pictures for it. In the end I had to rush.
This feeling of always being late has always been with me and it’s not because I’m not working hard enough. The last two months I’ve came in late every day including the weekends. I feel like the problem is just wanting to do everything well in the first place. That’s not how things work, people don’t make films on their own so I shouldn't really expect myself to do everything perfectly. I think about the future and how things will be easier, because all the work will be separated up. In the future I will only need to care for the part I’m doing and that excites me.
Running out of time did not just affect my other studies, it also affected my film. One of my original ideas was to have jam all over the set when Drekavac is killed, like real jam. I’d also film myself throwing it at the wall which would be hilarious. But again I ran out of time and had to do the close up of the Guinea Pig. In the end I ran out of time to do that as well and had to have a blank screen for the credits.
If I could some up my thoughts entirely it would be that I am very happy with the work I have done this yeah, like incredibly happy. The film is good, the poster if good, the essay is good, the CV is good and so on. The problem is I ran out of time to make it perfect. Still I learned a lot and had a good time doing it.
