Ooooookay! Hazbin Hotle redesigns....but not really? Honestly, it's just me drawing them in my style, but they could be considered redesigns, I guess, specifically Charlie

Um. Obviously, Charlie is the most changed from her canon design, I relaly like her hooves and others redesigns of her looking more liek a goat

Originally, I was just gonna add gaot ears and stuff, but the more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea of her having fur soooo tadaaaaa~

I gave her a little red stripe between her eyes and fade on her legs and ears to match Razzle and dazzle, and since lucifer was a high angle a seraphm/archangels hoenstly I dotn see a difference. I gave her some white freckles as well to sorta, show that connection

Also, toe beans! If she has claws, she can have beans, I think that Emily would have a normal human hand while vaggie would have little soft spikes on her like moths do, tho that's not shown

I also drew charlies wings cause it's cnaon she has them, and I wanted to play around with the demon/angle wing/s she could have, my irl friend K helped me decide which one to choose

I also drew her leg so you can see the fade in full. Side note that her belly has the same cherry red fur

I also added some chest fluff because why not?

As for her horns, I kept them the same color but added rings like Lilith has to show a connection between them. She also has her mom's eyes and heart tail point. I wanted her to have some demon stuff out just cause, she is a demon, she should......also realizing just how long I made her tail-

Uhhh, oh, right, side note, which I'll have to make a separate post about, Lucifer/eve/lilith are all dating each other, and Chalrie is all 3s kid. Eve is where she got the goat aspect from, inckuding horn shape, her scaly tail, snake fangs, red cheeks and color scheme over all are from dad, and Lilith is where she got her eyes and horn rings and heart point from, and beans to I guess

Maybe I should make a gene sheet one day; I gave her Jean shorts, like how I usually wear just cause I didn't want to add too much red or black

Vaggie is the least changed. The most I really change about her is how her wings look. Her hand snow has soft spikes like moths do, and her hair

I do think when she fell, she got more demon aspects, but since her wings were torn off, she doesn't have to many physically other than fangs and the spikes

I also made her hair shorter because please, nobody has their hair that long!! or if they do, then I've never seen them!

I know it's a show, but it was driving me crazy! I'm not that skilled at draw front view bodies yet, so if vaggie looks off I'm sorry:(

May I request a Xerneas/Yveltal review ? Those two are among my favourite "game mascot" legendaries (too bad that X and Y weren't really interested in building a plot that would have done them justice)... Alternatively, I was thinking about the Talonflame line. (I've also been in quite a Spheal mood as of late, yet I couldn't find a review of the line on your blog, which feels a little odd, I must say...)

Xerneas is pretty neat looking, and my personal preference between these two. Conceptually, it represents life itself—kind of an abstract theme, but they did a good job getting the point across. It also arguably takes some influence from the deer that fed on Yggdrasil, what with it up and turning into a tree now and again (with the antlers becoming branches, which is a nice touch).

I like how it's kind of a deer, but also has a lot of uncharacteristic elements, like a canine-ish tail, pointed feet that remind me of Arceus a bit, and antlers that bleed right into the head without a clear division between the two. It gives it a very powerful, somewhat unearthly look that's befitting of a creature representing life itself.

Visually, the multi-colored antlers are the focus point of the design and stand out nicely. The light yellow accents on the body also create a sense of upward flow that's also reflected in its blue collar, antler shape, and tail. While the antlers are somewhat complicated, they're not hard to read; beyond that, the design is pleasantly simple and clean.

My only nitpick is that it has these random colored speckles on its back that don't add anything and kind of take away from the antlers. They're not even present in its neutral mode either, making them feel all the more like an afterthought.

Speaking of which, it also has a neutral mode. I like it when legendaries don't have a bunch of different forms, so it's nice that it's the exact same design, just with slightly simplified antlers and a different accent color. The active form looks better—the yellow compliments the blue much better than this more monotone look does—but it does get across a "inactive" feeling well enough.

There's also Yveltal, which integrates its letter considerably better than Xerneas does. The tail-hand thing it has is pretty cool, and the intense red-and-black color scheme certainly makes it look ominous and like a creature that Literally Kills Everything when it dies.

My only issue with its design, and the reason I like Xerneas a bit more, is that it feels a bit too busy and visually messy—it takes a while to figure out what's actually going on with it. This is because its vein-like markings don't really break the body apart, and actually make the design more busy instead.

This is especially apparent in the head, as while the chest line suggests it should go straight up under the chin, it suddenly reappears past the mane in a different spot, and then gets lost among four (4) pairs of black horns. It's not too bad, especially when it's posed more like the above screenshot, but it does cause the details to get a bit lost. Other than that, however, it's pretty solid.

(Actually, come to think of it, Yveltal looks better in like literally any other pose that isn't the one in the official art. I think it's both of a combo of it looking more bird-like and its head reading clearer when it's not right against the wings).

Anyway, overall, these two are good legendaries—they're not too overly complex in concept, they don't have 200 forms, they're not overworked and overly busy, etc. They're just powerful, cool looking creatures that convey their themes nicely.

Since you are the world’s leading expert on Disney villains, which villains have your favourite aesthetics/vibe? For me, Horned King is not even in my top 20, but his general aesthetic and the design of him, his castle and his army…I love it.

Oooh, I LOVE this question!

So, in general, I'm a very aesthetic and vibe oriented person, and in my case, for the most part, my favorite aesthetics and vibes correspond to my favorite villains. However, even though Maleficent is my top favorite villain, the one who has my favorite aesthetic and vibe is Queen Grimhilde.

I was talking with a friend of mine about which Disney screencaps most incarnate our vibes, and Grimhilde's very first shot was my pick for myself:

The color scheme with the purples, blacks, and blues, the dark medieval castle setting with its mixture of grandeur and mysteriousness, the star and moon curtains that represent the cosmos, the zodiac signs adorning the mirror, the magical witchcraft that is about to ensue with the queen and the mirror, the eerie looking dim torches on either side of her - it all just is so captivating for me right from the get go.

I love her outfit and how flowing it is and the way it catches the wind and flutters about. The purples, the reds, and the blacks are just the prime villain color scheme, and I'm here for it! And the spell to summon the mirror has such amazing writing in general that conveys the mythic feel.

I love fire and fiery aesthetics in general (Maleficent, Hades, and Jafar have entered the chat), so having her bring that in during the summoning of the mirror is great. This shot is just so dynamic and visually appealing to me. Speaking of...

The Spirit of the Magic Mirror in general is such a cool aesthetic to me. I love the way he's only a floating theater mask illuminated in greens and blues and kind of distorted by the billowing smoke behind the looking glass that obscures the view of a world of total darkness. It has such a classic mythic feel to it that he captures my imagination every time.

Me when the neighbor kids are making a loud ruckus outside XD

This shot is just so beautiful though! The carved balcony, the diamond design on the window pane, the vibrant blood red curtains, and the queen herself framing herself perfectly as she watches the hated youths below cavorting in her courtyard.

OPPULENCE! YOU. OWN. EVERYTHING! I love her throne room. The ornate peacock shaped throne is of course stunning and so thematically appropriate, but I also love the details of the coat of arms and the woodwork on the sides. It feels RICH and ROYAL. And I love the way that she drapes her flowing clothing over the throne when she sits. The scepter on the pillow next to her is a great background detail, and once again those deep beautiful red curtains are immaculate.

Shout out to Humbert the Huntsman. I like his design a lot - we don't really see middle aged men in animation who are designed to have realistic faces and body proportions any more.

Also take note of the castle detailing of the background and the shield with the crossed hatchets off to the side. All of that is part of Grimhilde too.

I love the box she has for Snow White's heart. The detail of the latch being a dagger piercing a heart is inspired, and the blood red color of it is so visually evocative. Also the pattern on the side is very visually interesting even if I'm not sure what it's supposed to represent.

Her castle's exterior is also worth noting. During the daylight, it's very pretty and regal, but it's more in Snow White's color palette. But at night...

Once the sun sets and Snow White has left its halls, it becomes every bit a dark and imposing fortress befitting Grimhilde's dark majesty.

I just love those star and moon curtains and her flowing cape so much XD But also notice those vibrant green eyes of hers! As a fellow member of the green eyes segment of the population, I feel seen XD

Wearing a blanket down the stairs vibes XD Obviously I love the whole flow of her clothing in this shot, but I also love how up until now, everything around Grimhilde has been very regal and imposing, but we see her leaving the majesty of the mirror chamber and descending into the depths of darkness and decay marked by the presence of rats and other vermin.

Any warmth is drained from the shot. Also, skeletons and skulls and chains. Love them!

And it just keeps going with coffins and cobwebs that obscure our view. It's spooky Halloween-core in its highest form now!

The raven is a great counterpoint to Grimhilde in a dark inverse of Snow White being kind and a friend to the birds whilst Grimhilde is scaring the living beejezums outta this poor thing. The heavy tomes, the skull on display, the hourglass, the melted candle, the bubbling beaker - it's all just so many great details that scream WITCH!

I love the detail of the globe in this shot in particular. Like it's down here with her macabre magical artifacts rather than anywhere more royal or diplomatic. You really get the feeling that she wants her dark magic to spread across the entire world. Also it hints at her being well traveled and worldly, which with what we know about her backstory is very true.

I don't want to hear anyone say that Grimhilde wasn't FULL of dark magic. We only saw her cast TWO spells out of all of these dark spellbooks. She has LOADS of power that we haven't fully seen, and those implications make her chilling. I'm also very intrigued by the nature of each of these. Astrology is obvious and harkens back to the zodiac signs adorning her mirror, which I love. But she's got the Black Arts, Alchemy, Witchcraft, Black Magic (which has the word DEATH at the bottom), Disguises, Sorcery, and Poisons. I wonder what the difference is between Black Arts and Black Magic since they're terms usually used interchangeably. Black Magic at least seems to be focused mostly on death based magic, so perhaps Black Arts are dark spells that extend beyond necromancy and killing curses.

Also I love hands and how expressive a person's hands can be, and Grimhilde's perfect manicure as she peruses the shelf is so visually appealing to me.

Look at her little skeleton man scale on the left! That's SO classic goth, and I LIVE for it XD He even has a little crown XD

This just has such cool and creepy vibes like finding an old worn book that has research material you need and having this vibe of unearthing long lost knowledge. Also look at the other page. It seems there may be some use for the heart of that pig after all ;)

But the ingredients are so classically witchy and spooky, and I enjoy the way they take the time to show Grimhilde adding each one and focusing on its unique visual properties.

Everything bubbling around her, and that unique light fixture right behind her always make this shot so dynamic and visually interesting as we begin the spell...

I love how the Black of Night slowly snakes its way down and engulfs the potion

An Old Hag's Cackle. I love how it's a sound that has been distilled in liquid form and when heated it bubbles up and unleashes the cackle.

A Scream of Fright! I love how the steam becomes a shrieking phantom as it rises.

I think this is genuinely one of the BEST and most dynamic shots in all of Disney history. The way Grimhilde's face is reflected in the potion as it bubbles and smokes, the green of it, the placement of the hand, it's all just MARVELOUS and I love how it's also our last real look at her before the transformation. Almost like she's getting consumed by the potion right before our eyes.

Then of course her Old Hag form is one of my favorite character designs in Disney. Look at how striking she is! How viscerally frightening! How utterly mad she appears to be! It's PERFECT!

Notice "Formulae Mortis" next to the raven hiding in the skull - more magic!

And the recipe for the Poison Apple with the beautiful and dark illustrations in the margins!

I love the aesthetic of cauldrons. I love the bubbling witches brew with the blue and the greens as it billows steam that clouds the entire room. I love the hag peaking through the curtain of fog as she dips the apple into the brew, eagerly anticipating her ultimate victory by this one dark act.

And of course...

THE APPLE! One of the most iconic pieces of imagery in film history. The dripping poison making the death's head as the magic seeps into the darkened fruit before turning it a luscious and tempting red to hide its malevolent purpose.

Her aesthetic and surrounding imagery is just so evocative and classically gothic and medieval and witchy that I just go gaga over it every time! She is that exact intersection between Halloween, fantasy, history, the esoteric, the mystical, and the deadly that captivates my personal tastes so much, and I just always find her and her vibes to be PEAK Disney Villain! And, when you think about it, every other villain in the lineup owes their entire existence to her, and their vibes and aesthetics are in turn derivative of Grimhilde and the gold standard that she set.

I could go on and on even further about Grimhilde and her aesthetic and her vibes, but I am unfortunately at the tumblr image limit and so I can't embed anything more XD But, yeah, you probably weren't looking for a deep dive answer, but you hit on two of my hyper fixations and so you get the info dump with visual aids! Nocturne Redesign Discussion🌑

Nocturne’s design is one of the most interesting and most memorable designs in DP especially with the night theme. I wanted to give that off and ramp up the eldritch horror and night theme more. I want my Nocturne to feel like the a true nightmare, like a video game eldritch monster that could jump scare right into the screen at any time. Went for an owl theme as they’re nocturnal creatures(the goat vibe was cool and could work like lamb leading sheep to slaughter or an Astrology Aries theme but I decided to go for an owl as they’re a popular creature of the night, while goats are more active during the day), Went for a mix of the Horned owl and also Barn Owl cause those guys are scary as heck. I wanted to give it a skull-like look. I will not lie, Helluva Boss def gave me inspo and I feel like whenever I make an owl character, my brain will 99% go back there🦉🦉🦉

Warning spoilers and creepy owl stuff.

 Switched his red eyes for black ones with small white pupil for fear factor. I wanted to give off staring into the black void.

Replaced his purple lips with a black tipped beak. Also has wider mouth ending in a little spiral with a sharp point in the middle for fear factor.

OG Color Scheme- Black, white, gray, purple, blue for shading, light purple and red

My Color Scheme- Black, White, dark purple and gray.

Replaced his horns with curled tips for a horned owl vibe.

Gave his body sharper edges to look more feather like and come off more intimidating.

Made his arms bigger to give off wings.

Gave him purple outlines to stand from his body.

Gave him white talon like hands. Even added lines on his fingers. 

Gave him purple circles around his eyes

Made his scar black and shaped like a moon crescent for a night feel and make it strike out more.

His spirals are downwards rather than upwards but can go up if he desired so. Wanted to make it feel more bird body like.

Added some purple in his cosmic Star body.

Further refining my fandragon plans for Blue, along with my current tentative scry for Red.

Blue might actually end up being my first fandragon without a tert gene. Usually I feel like dragons seem unfinished without one, but Blue's other genes have so much going on already that I kind of feel like adding anything - even something small like Spines - makes the whole design feel busy and cluttered.

The only part I'm not quite pleased with so far is the blankness of the horns (they feel like they need texture or pattern or something), but he's going to need an accent anyway so I'll just find or make one that adds detail there.

With Red, I have been deliberating for a long time ^^;; I think in particular I'm struggling to balance the color scheme: canonical Red has more pink, but since I headcanon him with red hair, it's tricky to handle that without clashing ^^;;

This isn't going to be COD related, it's an Overwatch rant like thingy so feel free to ignore, I just needed to put this down somewhere to organize my thoughts

So next season is going to have a mythic for a support. At least I'm assuming based on how they've been doing it. There's 3 DPS with mythic skins, 3 tanks now, and only 2 supports. I would assume they're gonna do another support mythic next

I've been dreaming about a Mercy mythic so here's my idea. It has the possibility of being the most customizable mythic skin if they do it right. But also the most ambitious mythic skin.

There will be some image references at the bottom of the post 😊

Nymph Mercy

In other words Water, Earth, Fire, and Air/Sky would be the main designs behind the skin.

The outfit of the skin I'm still not sure on what it could look like. Perhaps just some kind of dress type outfit that you would believe a Nymph would wear should they wear clothing. Like I have a partial image in my head but I can't convey it in words and unfortunately I cannot draw for shit so 🤷🏻‍♀️

The areas of customization would be Weapon (obviously), Wings, Hair, Halo (headpiece), and Color. Every Mercy skin has some variation of her hair and a headpiece of some sort: whether it is a typical Halo or some type of hat/horns/crown.

There would be 4 options of customization behind each area, which would all be based on the different Nymph types. For example, there would be a Water weapon choice that you could elect to pair with the Air Halo and the Earth wings.

I always feel like for mythic skins there's the base theme which inspired the customizations. For example, the Wing option to make them appear like a waterfall would work best for the blue color scheme, however would still look good in green, red, and white.

Just like other mythics, the color scheme selected would affect the weapon/wings/hair/headpiece but not the style. For example, on the Kiriko mythic skin, you can customize the crown and hair. The hair styles and crown styles stay the same based on the color, but the colors of the rope tying up her hair changes.

Weapon

The first choice would be the water weapon. Her caduceus would be made of sea glass and would appear to have water moving through it. The centerpiece would be an orb that resembles water and glows yellow when healing and a bright blue when damage boosting. The color of the sea glass and liquids would change based on color selection. The blue selection would resemble water; then you can have green sea glass and "water"; then red; then white/pearlescent.

Her pistol would appear similarly to the staff, with color affecting the color of her bullets. (She normally fires yellow bullets)

The "earth" weapon would appear to be made of vines and twigs, with flowers! Works best with green color scheme but still looks good with other selections. This is because the base would be a brown color that appears to be a branch. This will not be affected by color, but instead the thin vines wrapped around it and the flowers change color.

"Fire" weapon would be made of stones with a magma like substance visible between the rocks. The stones will go from a dark black in the red color scheme to a light gray in the white scheme, a semi dark gray in both blue and green.

The "air" weapon would be like clouds surrounding a lightning bolt. The clouds are always white but appear to glow with the color of the bolt, which changes based on color scheme. White scheme keeps a yellow bolt, but still fires white bullets (like she's shooting little clouds at you 😊).

Halo/Headpiece

The "water" headpiece is a silver halo that has droplets and water lillies. The droplet colors change based on color scheme.

Earth headpiece is a crown of a brown base with thin vines wrapped around and flowers. Thin vines and flowers change color based on scheme.

Fire headpiece is a stony helmet that has "flames" coming out the sides. The fire/magma changes color based on scheme.

Cloud headpiece is a glowing halo based on color scheme.

Hair

Water hair would be a long, blue black, flowy style that doesn't have any updo of sorts.

Earth hair is a dark brown that is tied back in a fancy braid.

Fire hair is short, choppy, and a very dark red color.

Cloud hair is very light colored hair (blonde, silver, or pearlescent) that is tied in an updo around her head so it appears short and puffy.

Wings

Wings are designed similarly to her weapon.

Water wings appear like a waterfall

Earth wings have a dark base with vines.

Fire wings are stone with flames

Cloud wings are literally just glowing clouds (at this point)

And obviously color schemes are Blue, Green, Red, and White.

Not sure what the special voice lines would be but I honestly don't care. She could have no new special voice lines if this was her mythic and I wouldn't care.

Although now that I have this mental image stuck in my head, I know that no matter how good her actual mythic ends up being, I will still be a little disappointed. Cause this would be a fucking phenomenal, never to be topped, mythic skin

Also gonna go ahead and say if anyone that's good at art that wants to make this a reality, go right ahead. Just tag me/credit me for the inspiration.

it's the day before christmas... you know what that means?

it's dess deltarune day!!!

presenting, at long last, the dess holiday that lives in my head:

more drawings plus detailed design notes below the cut!! please click on the images for better quality viewing (they also all have alt text)

dess design notes:

- her fur and hair colors are picked from rudy's sprite, though i toned her fur color down slightly (and then even more so for her ??? form).

- her freckles, like how i draw noelle's, form triangles as a not-so-subtle reference to the delta rune. that being said, i draw noelle's freckles as oriented the other way, one of a few small ways in which i have their designs mirror but differ from each other (the others being: both having bangs but swept in opposite directions; and dess having buck teeth like noelle but rectangular instead of rounded)

- i didn't give dess antlers because of that line from sans in ut where he refers to "the antlered girl and her big sis" rather than "the antlered girls/sisters". instead, i gave her those hair tufts that are meant to look like horns, as both a parallel to kris's horn headband that they wear to try and fit in with their family, and as a bit of devil symbolism to contrast noelle's whole angel thing.

- i messed around with dess's light world outfit color pallet for a while. for example, i had her jacket be green for a bit so that between that and the skirt we'd get the main christmas colors. i eventually went with having her jacket be red too to make the design as a whole more cohesive. i wanted her to be wearing mainly warm, firey colors cause that feels like it matches her personality from what little we know about her so far.

- the jacket was conceptualized as a hand-me-down from rudy, but in the coloring process i had the idea that it would be neat if azzy had a matching green one (recycling that discarded element of dess's design). perhaps his could be a hand-me-down from asgore?

- the jacket turns that dark purple color in her ??? form because... look, there's a few things i could say, like how it would probably make more sense gonerfication-wise for it to have turned pure black but then that wouldn't stand out as much in dark environments, or how purple is red+blue with the blue coming from water/ocean theory (don't ask (or do)), or how the general use of purple is a callback to the ??? dark world... but in truth, it's because i like purple and i thought it looked cool. the main intended meaning is that she's in a cold, dark place now, so the warmth has, mostly, left her pallet. oh, also, because susie's purple, and it def feels like there are gonna be parallels between dess and susie. jevil too, by extension.

- i gave dess's shirt five stripes, even though by the age she is here she's probably outgrown striped shirts (not that that's stopped kris), as a visual reference to a music staff! cause, ya know, she seems to be a musician. the reference is a lot more obvious in her ??? form with the black and white shirt, as that's where it originated.

- i gave her the skirt with the shorts underneath them because i already had in mind that in her ??? form she'd wear that half-skirt half-shorts piece. the idea is that when she falls into the code or whatever, that element of her design gets mistranslated and the two clothing items are scrambled together. i also already knew from an older version of her design that i wanted it to have a chessboard-like pattern cause of chess's potential as a motif in dr - and also cause black white and grey as a color scheme is associated with gaster and the goners - so having the light world version of it be flannel/plaid just, fit.

- on a similar note, the darker and grey patches in dess's fur in her ??? form are meant to both contribute to a somewhat glitchy aesthetic and hint towards her ongoing gonerfication. i then had the idea as i was messing around with them that there should be grey specifically around her facial features to mimic skull face paint!

- the whites of her eyes going dark in this form ties into the idea that "only eyes blinded by darkness can see the way", as well as referencing jevil specifically, and her pupils are shaped like save points because they're the light that breaks through the dark. it unintentionally works pretty well as a metaphor for where dess is at: being trapped in the dark for so long has caused her to lose a lot of her hope and fire, but there's still a speck of light that she holds on to. eyes really are the window to the soul ;)

- back to dess's outfit(s), cause i skipped over the scarf. in my older version of her design, i had her wearing an unraveled bowtie or ribbon around her neck, a clothing item that had been part of her mom-approved formal attire. i switched it out with the scarf because a) winter vibes, and, b) more importantly, because i could have it do this in her ??? form:

that's right, wings! only under Certain Conditions, but, wings! cause, uh, angel stuff, and, i mean, come on. wings!!!

the split diamond pattern is again, though less obviously, derived from the triangles featured in the delta rune. the added dots in her ??? form are meant to make the diamonds look like eyes, especially if you turn them on their side. just to add another touch of spookiness. and the scarf is purple in both her designs mostly as an extra justification for where the purple in her ??? form comes from, like it's the one color she got to keep, and to strengthen the continuity between the two versions of her.

- while we're here, it took me a while to figure out what symbol should go on the back of dess's jacket. what i eventually decided on is a slightly modified version of the black symbol to the right in that drawing, which is apparently used in sheet music for piano to denote when the player should release the sustain pedal. i chose it less for its specific meaning and more so just because it's a music thing that kind of looks like a snowflake (or, perhaps, a star).

- then there's the other major addition with dess's ??? form: the halo! it's meant to be another music staff reference, with constantly changing notes traveling along it, but contorted into a guitar-like shape. i'm not 100% set on the colors i used for it tbh, i might change those in future drawings of her. here's the fun part: when dess wants to make music, she's learned how to take her halo and temporarily turn it into, essentially, a hologram version of her guitar that she can actually play songs on! good thing she has a couple of picks in her coat pockets. i wonder what else is in there...?

lastly, for comparison's sake, i drew dess with kris and noelle, back when they were all together... and where they're at now.

Sweet pea: Does your wedding have a ‘theme’ or a color scheme that you try to adhere to? If so, what is it?

Ok so, I know I have yet to build up the lore and whatnot and I'm literally making shit up since never I have ever thought about marrying this fucking piece of moody beef jerky but honestly?? Me wants a Secret Garden themed wedding because damn we both deserve an enchanted fairytale marriage uwu.

Also the juxtaposition of life and death? Flowing nature and gnarled stone?? A dead tree finally finding a way to blossom again?? ? You feel me, I know you do <3c

I might also have a couple ideas for the color scheme, those being dark blue, mahogany red and ivory or maybe lavender, plum and navy blue jewel tones, but we'll see about that.

Daffodil: What do you and your F/O’s wedding rings look like?

I was thinking about a couple of rugged wedding bands with engraved runes forged in dragon's fire. Their outline is adorned by solid gold and silver molten to the surface to resemble the night sky with its constellations.

Bhaltair's ring is a thick carved pewter band and bears an engraving of Vegvisir, the Viking compass, one of the most powerful Norse symbols believed to have the power to show the right way to those who lost their path. It was not chosen carelessly.

Mine is crafted out of his and the metal wire has been twisted and modeled after the shape of a horned Ouroboros, warily similar to the Serpent of Gallowmere. A symbol of eternal cycle of destruction and re-creation, death and rebirth. An omen and a warning.

B - Before: Before you decided to make them your F/O, what did you first think of them/their source?

I know I’ve said this before, but he’s literally what got me invested in the show. The first two episodes of Iron Leaguer, I was just kinda waiting to see if this really was a show that I could get invested in. I was really skeptical, what with the sports angle and my own distaste for sports anime! But something about his episode just... Clicked in my brain! I wanted to see where all of the characters were going to go and grow! 

Once I was really in deep and going through the show with FULL interest, I didn’t think I had a crush on Bull. My main ships for him were him and Top Joy and/or him and Silky! I still love those ships, of course, but I didn’t even consider self-shipping. It’s not usually something I’ve ever given much thought to. It wasn’t until my wife kept teasing me about how obvious it was to her that I was crushing on him that I came to realize it myself! We’ve been writing cute Buruburi stuff ever since! 

U - Uplift: How do they help you when you’re stressed or sad and vice versa?

He’s a really good talker and listener. He gives me the space to talk freely about how I feel and that means a lot. Plus, I dunno, he always seems to have just the right thing to say to make me feel better! And it helps a ton that he’s also quite the cuddler, so not only do I get to vent out my feelings, I’m also being held and having my hair pet and all the good stuff that just makes the world not seem so bad! 

L - Language: What’s their love language? What’s yours?

Okay, I’m not gonna get on my high horse about love languages. At least I don’t think I will! My main issue with love languages as a concept is I think that many people get caught up in the idea of Everyone Has One True Love Language when... I think most people have varying degrees of multiple! It seems reductive how some people will treat it like a Hogwarts House or whatever. The concept is helpful, but execution is often lost on folks. Plus, it doesn’t help that like, every time I’ve taken a love language test, I get different answers, all based on slight variations in wording. And my wife never has a consistent love language either from these tests. I just like a little bit of all the languages! 

ALL THAT ASIDE... 

Bull Armor’s main love languages are Quality Time and Physical Touch. Meanwhile, my main love languages are Words of Affirmation and Physical Touch. Naturally, we hold hands quite a bit! 

A - Art: Do they draw or paint? What about any other kind of art? What’s their favorite style/subject/another artist who inspires them?

This one really got my brain thinking. At first, I think art and the art world would be a little bit lost on him. But once he saw something that moved him, that made him feel something, he’d really get what it’s all about. I could see him coming home from an art museum and just throwing himself into a new hobby of abstract art. He’d like the kind of messy “throw a whole bucket of paint at a canvas and smear it with your hands” kind of stuff. And I would gladly get him a tarp. His color schemes would likely be a bit on the garish and bright side, colors clashing in unpleasant ways, but it still provokes a certain feeling.

R - Rainbow: What colors do you associate with them and why?

So, Magnum Ace is already honestly the "red guy" on this rainbow of a team. Naturally, that leaves Bull Armor as orange. I always think of him as the orange of the team! I mostly think of the accents on his helmet, which are a bit more orangey than the yellow of his horns. Then you've got his pretty big baby blue eyes, of course it makes me think of him! And then there's his adorable pink cheeks! He's got a perpetual blush going on! 💗

M - Meeting: What was your first time meeting them?

We met at the mecha hospital! I was a paper pusher and he was a nurse! We became cordial little work pals, but I split from that place and eventually, so did he. Back then there was only a work buds bond.

O - Online: What is your f/o’s social media presence like, or what would it be like if they had internet in their world/era?

I’ve got two distinct ideas for Bull Armor on Twitter and Tumblr: 

Either one, the Hoizer approach, where 90% of the time it is very clear that the account is run by like a manager. Manager posting is almost always very formal, hyping up game days or autograph events. But randomly, Bull himself log on and post something that is very clearly directly from him. It’s not promoting anything, it’s just some random ass thought or feeling that he had in the moment. 

Or two, more like Chafurin’s (his voice actor’s) Twitter, where he honestly just happy old man posting. Pictures of sunsets in places he’s been, ramblings about the good things in life. Very wholesome and probably has a side hobby listed in his bio instead of, like, the fact that he’s a multiple championship winning Iron Leaguer.

WARNING: I do not support the creator of Hazbin Hotel, and I haven't even seen the show. My information comes from the wiki and clips I've found on Youtube.

So in Hazbin, we know there's Heaven and the seven rings of Hell, but what about Limbo?

For those who don't know, Limbo is a place in Catholicism between heaven and hell for those who aren't baptized but haven't done bad enough to get sent to Hell. I'm not catholic, but I grew up in a catholic area, so I know a bit about it.

So I came up with a concept whilst in the shower.

Not sure if Canon actually has a thing for where the sinners go after they're exterminated, but I feel that a place they could go is Limbo. They're pierced by angel steel, which could have some holy properties and explain why it kills them "permanently", cleansing their soul enough to remove them from Hell, but not send them to Heaven. (The exterminators have no idea of this, or else they wouldn't be doing it)

In the show, both Heaven and Hell have very different color schemes. Heaven is more of whites and blues and greys, whilst Hell has blacks and yellows and reds. I imagine Limbo is a combination of the two, with greys and purples.

Now, with sinners, they'd get sent to Limbo and go under this weird brainwashing trance, kind of like Asphodel in Greek Mythology, where they wander around aimlessly for the rest of forever. They're all in greyscale and look identical to each other. They can interact and speak, but their voices are monotone, and they don't even remember their names.

Now, what would happen if a Hellborn got hit with angel steel?

They would still go to Limbo (Unless a Hellborn has gotten hit with angel steel in Canon and I just missed that part), but wouldn't get brainwashed.

They would undergo physical changes once they entered limbo, mainly adapting the color pallet to fit the scheme (greyscale and purple). One eye would be the eye color that they had in Hell, and the other would be purple and grey. Black cracks would appear across their skin, as they weren't built to be in Limbo. It won't kill them immediately, but the cracks will grow over time and eventually, they're shatter, cursing them to stay in Limbo forever as a phantom of who they once were.

There haven't been any reported escapes from Limbo, and nobody actually knows it exists, since nobody has explored the possibility.

I did make a character named Melanie, who is the only Hellborn who got sent to Limbo by mistake during an extermination.

Another feature of Hellborns getting sent to Limbo is that they are stuck halfway into their full demon form, with their horns shorter and two rings circling those horns to signify they aren't fully demon anymore, but they aren't well enough to be sent to Heaven.

There are ways to escape Limbo, but they require resources that aren't readily available in Limbo, meaning you'd need to have someone get into Limbo who won't get trapped there to get you out.

There are two ways: Getting hit by angel steel again, which will send you to Heaven, or selling your soul to send you back to Hell. It knocks the scales, so you aren't in the middle ground enough to stay in Limbo but rather get knocked into either Heaven or Hell. If they go to Heaven, then they'll take on a slightly different appearance than most angels, still having hints of red and purple from their past in Hell and Limbo.

Angels can get sent to Limbo, too, if they're killed by a demon. It kinda works the same way as it does with sinners unless they are of a higher rank (Cherubs and Seraphims.). If they are of higher rank, then it affects them similarly to how it affects a Hellborn. Whilst in Limbo, if they escape via the Hell route, then they'll keep hints of blue in their color scheme without being considered a fallen angel, as they weren't banished from Heaven, but instead unfairly removed. They would be referred to as "In Purgatory", and could be redeemed to go back to Heaven after a bit if they don't fall into hellish ways. If they take the Heaven route, then they'll keep a purple hue, but mainly look the same as they did pre-Limbo.

2.) Is your muse a good kisser?

No, no she is not.-- Ten has never kissed anyone in her entire lifetime, and since (prior to the events of this blog) she’s always been in big-Dark mode, there was never really a need or desire. The best she’s ever done is nuzzle her entire head against Chip, which wasn’t so much a kiss (because sibs) as... Basically her nuzzling the air because he was tiny.

4.) What does your muse wear to sleep?

The blood of the innocents. Strictly speaking? I doubt she ‘sleeps’ all that much.-- Sleep reminds her of being trapped under the crust, and technically, when she awakens from her million-or-so-years nap, she’s been resting for AGES.... So she doesn’t sleep whatsoever. Guess this means if she got a job she’d be good at the night shift! (I’m not counting the golden ‘bracelet’ that is permanently affixed to her tail.)

5.) What does your muse normally wear?

Also nothing, save the bracelet. Tenebrosity has spent her entire existence in the lava-filled depths between core and crust, so she’s never had a need for clothing before. However, since she’ll probably (eventually) wear clothes out on the surface, I figure she’d have outfits based on her color scheme (dark purple/black, blue, pink, pale-yellow) and outfits based on her brother’s color scheme (semi-burnt red, white, green, amber).

6.) What is your muse’s earliest memory?

The core of the planet rushing up to greet her, the feel of lava soaking into every pore and crevice as she turned back, the whisper of her very nature echoing across an empty, unfeeling space.... And then the crust formed over her, and the outer universe was no more. The burning cavern between crust and center is all she has ever known.

9.) What plans does your muse have for the future?

Aside from what she’s been doing since time began, nothing.- Tenebrosity knows that she will one day have to return to beneath the surface, return to that cycle that has made her the villain, return to being the villain.... So for now, she will enjoy what time she has up above, before she is inevitably pulled down.

10.) What physical trait is emphasized on your muse?

Hm... I never really gave it much thought. If we’re talking by outside forces, then obviously her more villainous aspects would be emphasized, which is a bit harder to achieve when you have some of the population who share physical traits with Dark Gaia (namely the horns). In terms of what Dark Gaia was thinking about the most when she made her disguise, she’d point to the tuft of fur at the end of her tail.- It’s based as much as possible off of the fur-texture of her brother, so that she never feels lonely (even when she’s so far away from her sibling). Most of her other features she’s nervous/on-edge about, since she’s tried to make herself appear like a normal mobian (which resulted in a mish-mash of physical features, although hybrids are common in my Sonic worlds so she really shouldn’t worry toooooo much).

Style Headcanons

So basically, I’m a big hater to the way the costume team worked on them. The whole “All Isle kids wear Leather” and “Auradon Kids always look like they’re on their first kid and on the way to the country club” thing drives me crazy. It sorta feels like they made costumes before giving them personalities (The leather on Carlos  and Evie feels like it clashes with their personalities. Lonnie’s dresses in the first movie doesn’t fit the personality we see, even though she didn’t have much of a personality until movie two. Audrey dressed like a thirty-four year old mother who just picked up her kid before going to the country club. Ben’s only good outfit was his swim trunks.) So here are some personal headcanons and pictures of what I imagine for them. (I started making them at 1am last night lol)

Villain Kids 

Evie

As someone raised to want to be a princess, she wants to dress like how she imagines a princess would.

She loves pastels and is no stranger to pairing pastel blue with a neutral red or bright white. 

The only pants she really wears are either athletic shorts or those little flowy elastic shorts, otherwise she’s all skirts.

She’s sorta a prep but not in the same way a character like Audrey would be. 

Evie has respect for most aesthetics, even though she doesn’t fully fit just one. However, she hates crocs and those little pastel shorts that white boys wear, she will announce it often.

Wouldn’t be caught dead in neon colors. 

owns a blue fur coat (it’s fake fur, obviously)

Carlos

Baby boy is a total softie

You know that one gay little sweater in movie one, that’s where they went right, more of that.

He’s into the soft boy aesthetic and only strays from it for formal wear

loves layering sweaters over button ups

Cuffed jeans, always because ya know, bisexual 

Owns a floral button up from Jay, normally he hates patterned button ups but it’s his favorite shirt. 

Loves striped sweaters, he owns about 6 variations of them in different colors (all include red, white, or black of course)

Jay 

In theory, Jay doesn’t really have one aesthetic, he’s willing to try on just about anything

Most of his clothing was bought by Evie or Carlos, especially his formal wear

The only clothes that Jay will buy for himself is athletic wear

He doesn’t really see the point of buy clothing that he can’t go straight to practice in. 

Still has the beanie,  but he owns one in just about every color to match it to his outfit.

Listen, we know Jay’s main color is yellow/gold, but why did we always see him with more red/blue in the movie? What type of snow white aesthetic were they trying to give him?

Jay owns a button up that he write on, he refuses to wear it actually buttoned though

Mal

She loves the grunge/alternative aesthetic, she thinks it makes her look more like she belongs to the Isle

She wouldn’t wear skirts until after she and Evie became friends, Evie bought her her first skirt (a purple plaid one) and she fell in love with it

Mal has a whole jewelry box of just chains, both necklaces and ones that attach to clothing 

Owns a pair of Demonia Swing-815 boots (black patent) and a pair of Demonia Camel-203 boots (holographic purple) 

100% owns one of those studded hot topic belts. 

Has a headband with little horns that symbolize her mother’s horns 

Instead of the leather half gloves from the movie, she has those little fishnet gloves and covers her hands in rings.

Uma

Her style is similar to Mal’s because if Mal is going to do something, Uma will do it better.

Uma only wore outfits that were super Fem and had skirts until Mal started doing it

Then it was Uma always wearing pants, because of her love for plaid skirts she owns a whole collection of plaid pants

the only jeans she owns are black or dark wash. 

Her first ever large purchase was a pair of Doc Marten 1460 Zip Tartan Lace up boots (they’re green, black, and blue plaid) 

She and Harry bought matching Doc Marten Jadon platforms (his are more shiny though)

Isn’t as into chains as Mal, more into chockers. 

Harry 

When the E-boy aesthetic came out, Harry was all over it 

Harry definitely has one of those chains with a little lock on it. 

I’d like to imagine he has baby gauges

the before mentioned platform doc martens, he definitely treats them like his baby

Even though Harry dresses like an e-boy,  he always has his pirate hat on

Definitely wears cloth masks as a fashion piece he actually would wear his in the pandemic though, unlike some people who wore them before but not for safety 

Harry is actually really good at graphic liner, he owns a gold, red, and white eyeliner to add color to the outfit if it’s mainly black

gold>silver 

Bought plaid pants because Uma did, he want’s to match with his captain

Gil 

As we know (maybe you don’t) it’s in the canon that Gil’s mother taught him to sew and he enjoys it. 

So Gil doesn't dress in one aesthetic or even close to being in one, he wants to try out everything, both making and wearing them.

He does stick to a monochrome color scheme though, mainly shades of brown with white or black thrown in. Sometimes he adds a little red or yellow though to “honor” Gaston

Most of his clothing is more comfortable than anything

Only owns three pairs of jeans, the rest are different types of pants (he loves corduroys) 

Owns a pants chain that harry bought him but he only really wears it when Harry and Uma are wearing one so he won’t feel left out on it. 

Dizzy 

Baby girl has seen the Isle steal the childhood innocence from people, she dresses in kidcore as a way to keep hers

Her outfits always has at least 4 different colors in it.

No stranger to neon colors, she has a pair of overalls that are neon rainbow and covered in gummy candy and she only wears them with a neon green tee, Evie and Carlos hate this outfits, Jay loves it because of the disappointment it brings to the two fashion fans 

Dizzy’s outfits in the movie were colorful obviously but they should have been just more over the top

She loves patterns and has no fear of pattern mixing

definitely owns some funky earrings, clay rings, and  statement necklaces

puts beads on her shoe laces, especially on her converse (they were white ones, she drew all over them) 

Auradon Kids 

Ben

Okay so Ben’s animated and movie outfits were bad, you can’t convince me of anything else

Why was Ben not dressed in the soft boy aesthetic? You’re trying to tell me that Belle’s son wouldn’t be a soft boy?

He has a jean jacket with his father’s beast symbol painted on the back

Absolutely loves graphic crewnecks, often layers them over collared shirts

He and Carlos go shopping together often in their free time

Lover of funky crew socks,  ones with paintings, patterns, logos, whatever. But his socks always match

After he and Mal started Dating, he bought a white jean jacket and let her paint it, he wears it all the time even though it didn’t match his original clothing, he bought more clothes in her color scheme to match it

He owns like 6 pairs of high top converse (light blue, yellow, white, navy, black, and Purple after getting the jacket back from Mal)

Chad

Listen, out of everyone he was the closest to how I imagined he should be, that being said, he had a little soft boy thing going on in some movies that I don’t think fit his personality

Polos and button ups are basically all he owns, but he does have some of those pastel simply southern esc graphic tees (Southern people probably know what I’m on about, all the guys who act like Chad at my school have like 5 of them each)

Owns 6 pairs of those horrid little southern boy pastel shorts in different shades of blue (plus 1 white pair)

Will not wear jeans, ever, the only pants he owns are khakis

All over the shirts that have logos embroidered into the shirt over the chest. 

Definitely gets asked if he’s on the way to golf/ the country club, the joke is that he is, he has to meet his father there after school

Audrey 

Listen, I’m not an Audrey stan, but they did her so dirty in the first movie

She should have been the stereotypical mean girl outfit wise, I mean, mini skirts, all pastels

Owns a pink teddy coat, and a white one, she actually cares about if they get dirty though, takes good care of them

definitely has a collection of tennis skirts, pairs them with sweaters/crewnecks or blouses that have a slight puff to the sleeve

The type of girl to wear rufflely rompers on her birthday every year, pink, white, or baby blue obviously

loves those tiny shoulder bags

preppy and looks good in it.

Jane

This account is a Jane should have been cottage core/ fairy core fan page, her outfits were almost there, just not there, she’s literally a fairy but can’t use magic nor did they let her dress like one, I hate it here

Baby girl loves gingham and floral patterns, some of her dresses are a little more to her mother’s taste than hers (her mother bought them) but as long as it’s a pattern she likes she will wear it. 

Cardigans are her best friend, she owns one in multiple shades of pink and blue, plus a white one (all of her clothing fits a pastel pink/blue/white color scheme)

Babydoll dresses her a her favorite style of them (the one I put in the top right corner is what I imagine her birthday dress as) 

People try to mockingly ask if she’s on her way to a tea party/picnic (like they do with Chad and the country club) if the answer isn’t actually yes one of her friends still say yes, no one can be rude to her about it 

She owns a corset (Evie bought it for her, it made her nervous at first but she loves it) 

Owns kitten heels and flats mainly also two pairs of mary janes (in white and blue) 

has one of those little pearl purses that aren’t really useful but they’re cute 

Lonnie

Last but not least, our funky little lesbian (she is, Jay is just her emotional support queer man) Lonnie, she sticks to the teal, blue, and pink color scheme they gave her in movie one

She mainly wears sweats (or athletic clothing) otherwise it’s graphic tees tucked in (many of them are from the men’s section) 

Only wears sneakers, she has places to be but also collects them (also owns 1 pair of pink crocs, Evie tried to burn them)

Carlos and Ben talked her into wearing a collar shirt under a graphic tee once (they bought her a sleeveless button up which she hated at first) and now she does it anytime she wants to look like she put effort into her outfit. 

Wears a lot of necklaces and rings (she loves to layer necklaces, she thinks it makes her sweats look less boring) 

Uses a mini backpack instead of a purse, easier to carry more things.

Has two pairs of custom painted air forces. 

Hates wearing bracelets but always has to have a hair tie on her wrist so they don’t feel empty .

no, but really-- top ten touhou character designs

oh, this is actually a hard one! character DESIGNS and not characters... hmm. this took me some time but i think i’ve got a definite top 10 down! for visual reference i’m using puppet sprites from touhou puppet dance performance, specifically barudo’s mod shard of dreams extended! starting from the bottom and working our way up...

10. kosuzu motoori something about her color palette, coupled with that checker pattern, is just very soothing. she’s a character who is pleasant to look at and doesn’t need to do much else.

9. yachie kicchou i like the three “points” of her design (the tips of her horns and tail) quite a bit. coupled with a more subdued color scheme and some simple clothing, her design has a level of subtle intimidation to it that i quite like.

8. marisa kirisame lovely poofy witch. i’m a sucker for huge hats and ribbons, and marisa’s black-and-white palette is surprisingly friendly too. she simultaneously feels like a traditional witch and one with a charm all her own.

7. utsuho reiuji BIRD UP. i like how even though she’s a hell raven and all that, her color scheme doesn’t rely too much on red--it’s an accent color that i think hints at what she’s like without being explicit. i also love the asymmetry of her legs and arm cannon.

6. mima the only pc98 character on this list, since a lot of their designs feel less “fully realized” compared to the windows roster... but mima is iconic. her color scheme, her pointy hat, her staff... she has a look that, to me, feels timeless.

5. yuyuko saigyouji i’m biased because i’m gay, but consider: she is covered in frills and her color palette is practically the trans pride flag. light blues and pinks go great together, and her big hat and long sleeves give her simultaneous elegance and gentleness.

4. seija kijin i love her hair. i love her hair so much. i also pretty much automatically love any characters with horns, so...there ya go. the ridiculous arrow pattern on her dress feels very “touhou” in its style--it doesn’t seem like anything a real person would wear, and i mean that as a compliment. plus, she’s black and red without being overly edgy, and that’s rad.

3. flandre scarlet i mean... the wings. the WINGS. her precious, goofy hat. this little vampire has captured so many hearts, and for good reason: her design is kind of legendary. i kinda love how she’s not traditionally gothic like you’d expect a vampire to be--she’s colorful, she’s bright, and she’s attention-grabbing as all hell.

2. shion yorigami did not expect this poverty god to make it into my top 10, but her design is kind of perfect imo. that baggy short-sleeved hoodie, the fact that she doesn’t wear shoes, that massive ribbon, the blue flames of her hair... she looks just the right amount of pathetic while simultaneously being quite pretty.

1. hecatia lapislazuli shion may be perfect, but... hecatia’s shirt says “WELCOME HELL.” her skirt is checkered and has three colors. she’s wearing a choker with big ol’ space orbs chained to it. her design is absolutely unhinged and wonderful and i love it to bits!

More Oni headcanons that I wanted to add on

to @ambrosial-tea post but I forgot until now!

There are different tribes of Oni as stated in the last post. Aka Oni (Red), Ao Oni (Blue), Shiro Oni (Pale/White), and our Kuro Oni (Black/Dark).

We don’t know too much of the Dark Oni we got but we do know that Oni were originally intended to be guardians between Material Plane and Spirit World when the two began overlapping (possibly The Grasslands/Departed, and Cursed Realm before they began separating). Put a tribe of Oni on the Material Plane for a couple years and they’d splinter into subraces of Oni and become more corrupted by the years. Dark Oni became one of the tribes corrupted.

Aka Oni are the most common type of Oni with their dark red colors, large size, and toughness. They’re slightly bigger than the rest of their kin, more violent, unfocused, and pursue immediate satisfaction, disregarding long drawn out plots and schemes. They’re mostly known for strength too.

Ao Oni are known for their unnatural cunning and aptitude for magic, smaller than their red kin but larger than pale, and have different shades of dark blue. They’re the ones you’d catch calculating and meticulously pursuing lofty goals like power and knowledge.

Shiro Oni are known for their aloofness and connections to the spirit realm. They’re the smallest of the main three tribes and the fewest of members. They vary from pale white to light gray. (They may as well adopt other Oni who share their colors and hopefully teach them their ideals.) Pale Oni would rather keep things in balance between the material plane and spirit world as the ancient Oni intended. They guard their locations but will adventure for artifacts of the spirit world and mend balance. If we take that into account perhaps they are another reason why Realm travel is difficult to Oni who try to cross through the any of the realms involving afterlives.

While Oni have no concept of gender since they have both reproductive organs, they also have no concept of sexualities either. Honestly they just didn’t have a name for it when one didn’t feel the need to have sex or when another felt more attracted to the same sex aspects of their partner. (If anything, their type of relationships or way of thinking would be looked up upon because they felt closer to their spirituality and their true selves.) Again they sometimes don’t mate for reproduction but just for the vibes of their partner.

They probably didn’t have a name for having multiple partners at the time either. If one Oni wanted to be a part of what the other two had and they were content with the feel of them, then it was okay. Plus more hands to help raise the cub personally. (Essentially that’s what PolyGarm would basically be. They make Garm happy, they’re happy with him, and Lloyd would basically have more than two parents. At this point Lloyd would just have more dads and Koko is just the one good mom he deserves.)

The second Oni learn what kisses are and how they work, they find it just as addictive as they do with other acts of affection.

Oni are more closer to their family than they are to strangers because in most Oni’s belief, strangers brought suffering to the family. In turn they displayed their family’s name first before their own, showing pride in them and hoping to intimidate any strangers with ill intent towards them.

Speaking of Oni names, they don’t usually have any but when they do their names would be what positive traits the parents wish the child to take on. For example, a son could have “Akihiko”. “Aki” meaning “bright” and “hiko” meaning “boy/prince”. They could want him to be someone brighter than they ever hoped for. For a daughter, “Asuna” with “asu” meaning “tomorrow” and “na” to “greens” or “apple tree”. Maybe the parents are hoping the Oni daughter would lead them to a more plentiful day. And then there’s the family names. The most famous ones are “Hideyoshi” and “Ishikawa”. We’ve heard of these names and the history behind them, I wouldn’t want to come across any of their descendants that carry their name with honor.

Ironically “Harumi” is actually a name for a female Oni in some home brewing lore. One of her meanings is “govern/rule” and “beauty”. Goes to show how far she would take her name literally.

Shiro Oni/Pale Oni don’t have names, but it’s because they don’t want to be too close to the material plane while they guard the spirit realms. They would refer to themselves and each other as “that/this one” instead like how gargoyles in the old days would. If they come up with names, it’s for the sake of working with others on the material plane, but even then it only happens when they really trust the people around them.

Oni have a large appetite that could put the Pythor and the Anacondrai to shame. They could honestly compete against the Great Devourer and other wyrms.

An Oni’s pair of horns are a sign of honor. No pair of horns are alike, not even the closest siblings’ horns look the same. They all have their differences. Their horn length is their pride. Having them sawed off is quite literally shameful to the owner of them but they did do something to deserve it.

It’s possible that some Oni were confused at Garm’s horns not being there at first but they hear about the first time they grew out of his head he quite literally broke them off and bled for a good long while to the point of passing out. (Blood vessels actually go throughout the antlers/horns in animals which is why they aren’t busted right off easily. Why wouldn’t they to Oni horns?) Come to find out it was the FSM’s hate for Oni that made Garm hate himself and how he looked so Garm had them filed down to his scalp or small enough to hide in his hair. It honestly almost hurts the Oni’s look on the FSM even more but hey who hasn’t he hurt? It takes a couple more decades and some therapy before he finally let’s go of his internalized self hatred and trauma that he grows out his horns and finally has pride in himself like most Oni already do.

So it’s not uncommon for Oni to live among other races, whether secretly or not, due to their shapeshifting abilities, however sometimes they’re immediately shunned when their true form slips out. Unless they proved otherwise to the most accepting of inhabitants, they’re allowed to stay. By then they’d have a hybrid appearance with their horns out, either out of their kindness to ease the others’ fear of them or for their own personal benefit.

Oni that do live on their own choose to live in the wilderness or in the mountains. If living in society but still wanting some sort of solitude, they’d either be closer to the outskirts or deep in the downtown where you’d either have to ask directions to specific people to find them or already know where they are. Hence Mistaké with her small tea shop and Wu being able find her.

As stated before Oni have no problems with Half-Oni at all. They’re just welcoming another cub into the pack and it’s just the fact that they are a child of an Oni who fell in love with another humanoid. Although there are some cases of Oni being chased out by the other race with their cub in their arms and they just run until they find the closest tribe. They’d be welcomed into the tribe and the cub is basically adopted by them.

Again half Oni isn’t a problem to them, but they do have a problem with any particular wizards experimenting on Oni breeding with any other humanoids. The know it’s not the parents’ fault neither is the cub’s. If neither parent want nothing to do with them, then the half Oni cub is taken off of their hands by another Oni who was grieving at a loss of a cub (or the realization they couldn’t have any) or a pairing who wouldn’t mind another. The cub won’t have a terrible environment, the parents won’t have to unwillingly interact with the child until they resolve their own issues or they wish to visit and see them grow.

Meanwhile, those wizards will never know peace again until the day they die, even other tribes, who they could be at war with, will catch wind of what happen and help in taking them out. By the time those wizards die, even the Pale Oni who have no ties with Omega or any other tribes won’t be forgiving to them. They won’t do anything too harmful to them, but they will lead them to the terrible part of the Cursed Realm and those wizards proceed to stay there until they fade out of existence entirely.

Enough angst there and let’s go back to fluff. I bet Oni would love dice. Like not even for games but for the click-clack sound. (“Lloyd. They’re metal dice. You cannot have—.” “Shiny sparkly metal bits make pretty sounds! :D” “Garmadon please tell your son not— Not you too!” “Wha~ It does sound pretty.”)

Y’all know how like adult lions play with their babies? They pretend to be hurt and that the cub is super strong to help build up their confidence. Hear me out, Oni do that too. Big goddamn Omega really be taking hits from tiny little cubs, Mistaké be playing with little Garmadon and playing dead on him, then Garm just does the same thing for little Lloyd. (“Koko, sweetie, help. It’s the battle of the century in here. Help, save me. He’s too powerful!” “*tiny war cry*”)

Someone makes a baby Oni cry one time and boy it’s absolutely over. It’s on sight for that person. I’m telling you On Sight!

Oni can purr loud enough to the point where it rumbles in them like a motor and that’s how cubs feel their parents’ purring. Then there’s baby Oni just babbling and the adult Oni just pretend to have a whole conversation with them. Don’t get me started on them playing soft flute music to help the toddler Oni sleep.

We probably only got a few words out of Omega when they first appeared because we were hearing them through human ears. Lloyd’s Oni brain would click on and translates what he knows while Garm in full Oni form can get full sentences out of Omega.

Oni are willing to learn a different language if it helps others understand them and their intentions. Now let’s just think of Lloyd connecting to his Oni side of the family (since let’s face it, the Oni are going to be around longer than most of his friends are) through teaching them sign language.

They also try to teach him their Oni tongue but he can only grasp a few words at a time easily. When he finally learns the language, next thing you know he’s going to be cursing and only Oni will understand. Some (aka Mistaké) want to scold him and others (*cough*Garmadon*cough*) find it hilarious.

Garmadon’s Oni-Dragon hybrid brain wants him to decorate his significant others and now I think of Oni just sharing the precious items they hoard with their mate. Wait till they figure out they can make jewelry and have their significant other wear it.
