Finally! You finished your work earlier than you anticipated because you did practically all of the work on the cafe you were in. WOOHOO~
you exclaimed, "What a wonderful day," as you joyfully walked back to your apartment while humming a tune.
~~~
Your apartment door makes a click-signaling noise as you type in the code, unlocking it. As soon as you entered, you took off your shoes and hung up your jacket on the coat rack.
You then showered and changed into your baggy t-shirt and shorts.
You ask yourself, "Now what should I do? Hmm.." and then you look around your flat to see if you can find something enjoyable to do. Instead, you turned up nothing.
"Maybe if I just close my eyes, an idea for what to do will come to me!" I laugh at myself, you thought.
You questioned yourself, "Should I just go to the beach or what.. eh YES! THE BEACH! OMG!" and felt sorry for yourself.
You sat at the edge of the bed and inhaled deeply before saying, "yes, the beach.. haha how can i forgot about it.."
You find yourself asking, "now what? should i like pack or something?" in a daze.
You asked with a small head scratch, "i can just go to the beach while wearing this right?" You smirked at yourself and continued, "I mean, what's the purpose of changing? HAHA, this will work, there's no way that i'll get judge by wearing this."
[10:23 am]
You've already left your residence.
You can hear waves in the distance as you're walking down the street, and the tranquil sound of them calms and relaxes you. As you finally arrive at your goal, you quicken your speed.
As you moved toward the sand, you came across three men—or, to be more precise, three handsome men, particularly the one who appeared to be blonde. Before you can say, "he looks han-," a kid racing in your direction hits you, causing you to slip and fall to the ground. This causes them and other people nearby to glance at you with concern. "sh*t! Everyone was staring", so you immediately got to your feet and fixed yourself.
You bowed to the child and said, "Sorry kid," as the child's parents approached and continued to bow and apologize. You did nothing more than awkwardly smile and scratch your head.
You give them a brief glance to make sure they aren't still staring.
The parents already left.
You pulled off your shoes and sat on the sand while continuing to watch them. The brown-haired man was holding the blonde while the waves crashed on his legs, and the black-haired man was snatching the camera from the blonde man's hands. You laughed at the sight.
As you cast another peek their way, you noticed that they were vlogging. You whispered, "They kind of look familiar, though."
[5:04 pm]
The sun will set soon, you think as you check the time on your phone and put it back in your pocket.
You removed the sand from your feet by sitting on the bench, and then you put your shoes back on.
You got up and left the beach to go for food because you were already getting hungry.
You discovered a tiny establishment outside with large fish tanks and an octopus. As soon as you enter, you hear someone say, "Holy sh*t, they're in here."
With your back to them, you hurriedly walked to the table by the door. A lady approaches you and asks for your order as you are perusing the menu on your table. You give them your order, and they return to the counter.
You look at them from behind and think, "I swear, I've seen them somewhere." They appear to me to be so familiar. It's killing me. You pull your phone out of your pocket, open Google, type in the name of them separately, click the image above, and then turn to face them again.
You laughed at yourself "knew it," and then the lady who delivered your dinner earlier arrived.
[5:59 pm]
They had already left before you had finished eating. It's regrettable to consider that you lacked the bravery to approach your longtime picks in Boys Planet.
Well that's fine, maybe you can meet them again soon.
You've already paid at the register and are getting ready to leave, but you stop and think that your buddy is coming over tonight, and you realize that you don't have any food in the fridge any longer. You shrug and say, "She can just order food online."
You thought, "Maybe going to the 7-Eleven won't be bad right? I'll just buy drinks anyway" and so you went to that nearby 7-Eleven, going straight to the drink section as soon as you entered.
Two Cokes and one can of coffee are taken out of the refrigerator and placed on a basket. As you we're about to go to the counter, you saw them getting inside, You quickly hide at the shelf.
In the nearby area, you saw them enter the drink area. Immediately after, you hurried to the cashier.
The female employee gave you a blank stare. You wondered, "Okay, why is she looking at me like that?" and then you murmured, "uhm.. is there a problem? Miss." She suddenly came to her senses and began to scan the products on display.
You impatiently turned to the counter after looking behind because you thought you could hear them approaching. "Can she speed up the scanning?"
You're about to explode, you swear, "umuti hyung, isn't she the one who tripped at the beach lately?" From behind, you hear a gasp and a giggle.
"are you crazy? don't say that" you heard him say it the youngster, then followed by smack, you heard the youngster growl in pain.
Your eyes following the female employee's actions as she nearly finished scanning each item before turning to look at the monitor in front of her. "That would be 3,502 won," she declared. You nodded in agreement and slid your (right) hand into your pocket, but you couldn't find any cash there. You checked in your left pocket, but you found nothing either. "Sh*t sh*t!" You are currently in a state of panic.
You quickly inspect the phone's back, but there is no money inside.
Someone taps your shoulder just as you're about to speak. Then, from behind, you saw the black-haired man giving out folded papers. You gave him a confused look.
You took it out of his palm and delivered it to the employee after the black-haired man instructed her to use it as payment for what she had purchased.
You heard the black-haired man chatting to somebody (him), so you took a Mars chocolate that was on the mini-shelf below you and placed it on the counter.
The employee in charge asked, "you're going to buy this too?" and you replied, "uh yeah."
You received the plastic bag and the change from the worker.
You drank the coffee from the can before leaving the store.
To pass the time, you pulled out your phone and sat down on the bench.
When you observed them leave the store, the black-haired man told them something before rejoining the other person inside, leaving the blonde one alone.
You went immediately towards him after pulling out the chocolate. You distributed the chocolate.
The blonde looked at you suprise.
You tried to maintain eye contact with him as you continued, "I didn't even got to say thank you properly earlier, so here.. i'm giving you this as a Thank you.."
"Oh thank you, miss," he said, grabbing the chocolate with a big smile on his face.
You exclaimed "yeah, bye!" as you dashed from the scene and headed home.
You unlocked the door to your flat and entered without pausing to accept your friend's welcome, going straight to your room.
You shouted at the cushion as you threw yourself onto the bed.
You sat down after telling yourself "oh my f*cking sh*t, i met wumuti, i f*cking met wumuti omg" as you try to calm yourself.
Breath in, Breath out
"Now how am I supposed to go to sleep"
Survey #360
“we are the ones that wanna play  /  always wanna go, but you never wanna stay”
"Crawling" or "In The End?" I want to say "Crawling," but I really can't be sure. Both are bomb. Is your window open? No. Monsters Inc. or Shrek? Shrek, my man. What did you last hear that made your jaw drop? Jason's mom died. What is the longest shower or bath you have ever taken? I remember as kids, Nicole and I would sometimes play 'til Mom made us finish because the water was cold by then. As an adult, idk about my longest shower. Do you have a preference of chocolate? Yeah, milk chocolate. Is there anyone you’d like to hug right now? Yeah. Could you ever picture someone writing a biography about you? Definitely not. Do you have a clock in your room? No. Do you shut off the computer when you’re done using it? No, I just close it. Do you usually catch a cold during the winter? No. I just about never get sick. Are you a good multi-tasker? NOOOOOOOOOOO. Do you know any deaf people? If so, is it easy or difficult to have conversations with them? No. Is there a door knocker on your front door? No. Were you ever into Pokémon? Bitch I still am. Do you drink a lot of water? Sigh, no. I'm definitely better than I used to be, though; once upon a time, I literally never drank it unless I was extremely hot and dehydrated. Nowadays, it's usually after I finish my soda for the day that I then only drink water, normally around one full tall cup of it. Do you like fireworks? They're beautiful, but I'm personally against them out of respect for veterans suffering from PTSD as well as animals, because I'm not exactly interested in traumatizing them, either. Is respect given or earned with you? It's given, the way I think it should be. Are you “in the closet” about anything? No. Are you missing any teeth? No. Do you like scrapbooking? I've never gotten into it and am not really interested in doing so. What was or will be your first tattoo? It's a semicolon butterfly on my right wrist. Sometimes I've thought about getting it covered with a cooler design but the same concept; it was literally from Google, and I'm very much not into "sharing" tattoo designs with probably thousands of other people. But, I still think it really is cute, and it's just very special to me as my first, so idk. Do you have any tattoos dedicated to someone special? I have one written in Sara's handwriting inside a heart, and my "ohana" tattoo that I am 100% getting covered was dedicated to my former best friend Colleen. I've talked before about why "ohana" has never really resonated with me, and I just don't like it anymore at all. Thank God it's small. Do you like ghost stories? Oh HELL yeah, lay 'em on me. What was your favorite movie as a kid? The Lion King. Some things never change, ha. Do you own a lot of cookbooks? Mom has looooots, but never uses any. I think her mom gave them to her, so she just keeps 'em. What’s your father’s handwriting like? It looks like every other man's handwriting I've ever seen lol. All the letters are capitalized. Did you wash your hair last time you showered? I wash my hair every time I shower. I have to with it naturally being so oily. What does your shampoo smell like? Coconut. Do you listen to Guns N' Roses? Not a lot, but yeah. They've got some bangers. I actually want "Sweet Child O' Mine" to be the father/daughter dance at my wedding. Have you ever been a bridesmaid? Yeah, at my sister's wedding. What was the last video game that you beat? I replayed Silent Hill 2 a long time ago. Have you ever hyperventilated? Yep. Do you talk in your sleep? I scream in my sleep. Nightmares/terrors are a blast. Whose house did you last sleep over? Sara's. Have you ever been cut by scissors? No. Do you like peaches? It's odd, I like canned sliced peaches, but the actual, full fruit, I don't. I love peach flavored juice, though. Do you enjoy being surrounded by neighbors, or would you be more comfortable someplace secluded? Take me back to the middle of nowhere, please. I'm really not digging being in an actual neighborhood. Is there any sibling rivalry between you and your siblings, if you have any? Not at all. Do you usually root for the good guys or the bad guys? Ha, the baddies... Are you allowed to have pets at your house? We're allowed to have what we currently own and then maybe one dog if Mom finally finds one. Have you ever lived in a trailer park? No. Is there anyone that you know through the internet that you would feel comfortable meeting in person? There's quite a few, actually! Have you ever had a dream involving characters from a game/movie/television show? Yeah. What’s the last thing you wrote down? My signature, I think? Do you remember any phone numbers from years ago that now belong to someone you don’t know? No. Have you ever found something strange in your mailbox? No. Who was the last relative that came to visit you? My half-sister and her husband. Does your bedding all match? Not currently. Are you more comfortable with having short hair or long hair? SHORT. Are you interested in fantasy movies/shows? That's my preference. Have you ever gone whale-watching? No, but that'd be dope. What is something that you have a large amount of? Meerkat plushies. Who is it that you’re in love with? Nobody. Have you ever gotten love and infatuation confused? No. Do you have a steady income? No. Do you take your medications in the morning or at night? Both. Have you ever bought a YouTuber’s merch? No, I wish. :( Do you think oatmeal tastes better when made with water or milk? MILK. I don't eat it with water. When was the last time you ran into someone that you didn’t want to see? Idk. Have you ever tried vlogging, and if yes, did you stick with it? Noooo, I'm completely disinterested in doing that myself. If you go to church, what is your favorite thing about it? I don't go. Even as a kid when Mom made me, I hated it. ^and what is your least favorite thing about it? N/A What do you do for exercise? I don't. .-. I want a pool SO badly to swim and strengthen my legs without having to worry about sweating or collapsing, though. Mom says we don't have space, but we definitely do. Not a lot, but enough. Do you have a birthmark? If yes, what color is it? Yeah, it's just a bit darker than the rest of my skin. Do you need to lose weight? Yes. My sister, Mom, and I very recently started a Weight Watchers subscription and we're all working our asses off to stick to it. Ash has already lost like, 12 pounds (she started before Mom and me), so I'm kinda hopeful. Have you ever had a cat? Growing up, after we took in a stray female, we ended up with a fucking empire of cats, literally around three dozen, I'd say. They were all outdoors, too, and not fixed because we couldn't afford it, so tomcats would come around and, y'know, make matters worse. Eventually, animal control took them all and I was DEVASTATED, but looking back, I understand it was necessary. Anyway, I have one cat now. Indoors and fixed and the prince of my world, haha. Have you ever had a dog? We've had a few. I was born with my dad having a collie named Trigger, but I don't remember her at all; she died of old age I believe when I was very young. Then we briefly had a pup named Angel, but she died due to that disease some puppies just have. We didn't get another dog until Teddy, who was my Christmas present, and he was put to sleep only last year, rest my baby's soul. We also had Dale, Cali, Delilah, and Bentley. Have you ever any other kind of animal? A LOT. I'm probably going to forget some, but we've had hamsters, rats, snakes, fish, a turtle, two lizards, gerbils, guinea pigs... just a lot. Animals have always been very important in my life. Have you ever had a pet rock? HA, yeah. I didn't take it seriously at all, but I had one. When was the last time you painted something? Not since my Painting course in my final college attempt. Do you have any disabilities? Not in the traditional sense, no. My social anxiety though is at such a severity that it majorly infringes upon my ability to do a LOT of things, though. What are five of your favorite stores at the mall? I couldn't name five. Just Hot Topic and Spencer's, really. What season do you want to get married in? AUTUMN. The actual dream situation would be to get married in the snow in a black dress, like can you IMAGINE the pictures, but realistically, it'd be in the fall to avoid the biting cold. Has anyone ever spread lies about you? Yeah. Anything special planned for today? Nope. Blue or green? Blue. How much older/younger than you was the person you lost your virginity to? He's two years older than me. Do you still care for that person? Very much. Can you completely annihilate the first Mario game in less than an hour? I haven't even played the first game. I've never really been into the games to begin with. Did you make it all the way through the Oregon Trail game? Yes! I was OOOOOBSESSEEEEEED as a kid. I would usually play it after school when my mom was an assistant teacher and was finishing up her work for the day. Have you ever contemplated climbing a water tower? Uh, no. Those kind of people got some wanderlust levels that I ain't got, haha. If you have a Facebook, when was the last time you changed your profile picture? It's been a few months. Would you ever marry someone who was lower class? Um, yes? You can deny it all you want, but answering "no" is pretty much the same as saying you'd marry for money. Is there a guy you wish you hadn’t let slip away? ugh Which do you prefer: English or math? English, by light years. Who is a singer that has given you chills? David Draiman's voice in the Disturbed cover of "Sound of Silence" is fucking haunting. Greatest cover of all time. Do you watch America’s Got Talent? I did when Sharon was a judge. Do you think you could win America’s Got Talent? Hell no. What act would you perform in a talent show? uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Have you ever practiced yoga? Yes. I used to be BANGIN at it. What is your favorite thing to buy at the Farmer’s Market? Fruit! Do you get carsickness? No. What color is the rim of your full-length mirror? Black. What is your state’s bird (if you live in the US)? Cardinal. Which style of wedding dress is your favorite? I'm a sucker for ballgown dresses. Do you enjoy editing videos? I used to love it, for many many years. Now, I just don't have the dedication or motivation to. Do you enjoy editing photos? Yes. If you gave birth, do you think you would want it filmed? Um, absolutely not. I would have NO desire to look back on me shrieking my lungs out and essentially dying. I handle abdominal pain very poorly, so I've got a goooood feeling that if I actually wanted to have kids, I'd be that woman screeching like a banshee.
survey by tater-tots What is a fruit that you might eat in the morning? Hahahaha. That’s a pass for me; I can’t imagine regularly eating fruit at any set time of the day.
Do you enjoy any food combinations that others might consider to be weird? I like to eat fish with mayonnaise, which was always normal in our household but I realized was weird when I first saw the horrified expressions on my friends’ faces when they saw me use the combination. I like mayonnaise with a lot of other foods as well, which a lot of people generally find weird.
What is a green vegetable that you enjoy eating? Broccoli and asparagus.
Name something you might find in a salad. In my salad, you’ll always find tuna sashimi in it heh.
What is your favorite type of sandwich? Anything that’s like an Eggs Benedict or Monte Cristo.
Which condiment do you use the most often? Mayo, for sure. Banana ketchup too. I also like sriracha sauce but my dad hasn’t been buying a new bottle of it for a while.
Name a chocolate bar that you enjoy eating. It’s called Whittaker’s - just not sure what country it hails from; maybe Australia? - and I like their peanut butter variant. Google also told me it’s a New Zealander brand.
What is a meat that you do not eat - ever. Dog or cat.
Are you lactose intolerant, or have any other sort of food allergies? I’m mildly lactose intolerant but I ignore it because a lot of my favorite foods use dairy. Other than that, no food allergies.
What was the last food that you burnt your mouth on? Just plain rice, haha. I had been extremely hungry and I just wanted to dig in; but I ended up spitting it back out.
Which brand of soup do you eat? I don’t regularly have soup, much less buy canned brands of it.
What are some flavors of ice cream that your enjoy? Cookies and cream, mint chocolate, coffee, chocolate chip cookie dough, queso real.
What is the best type of cookie, in your opinion? I like keeping things classic when it comes to cookies, and I’ve always been perfectly happy with chocolate chip cookies :)
Would you rather have popcorn, pretzels, or chips as your salty snack? Chips. I dislike the other two as I only like the softer, doughy version of pretzels.
Have you thought about going on a diet & actually went through with it? No.
survey by pinkchocolate
When you woke up today, was there anything on your mind? Kinda. I felt sad and I was aware of it instantly, compared to most days where the sadness will take a while to build.
Who was the last person you interacted with for the first time? Literally speaking, maybe the barista at Starbucks who took my temperature at the entrance before I was let in the store. I interacted with her yesterday.
What colour was the wrapper of the last snack you ate? White. It’s more of a tiny bag than a wrapper, though.
Do you have a favourite mug to drink from? What does it look like? Yeah, I’ve since claimed my mom’s mug for myself. It’s a copper mug with the Starbucks label on it. It looks super minimalist which I appreciate.
What was the last thing you used, that came in a spray can? It was a Lysol spray.
What colour is your favourite bra? Don’t really have one.
Who was the last person you went to for advice about something? I think it was Andi. I’ve been going to them a lot for help, advice, extra sanity, etc. lately. If it hasn’t been for them I probably would’ve left a few months back.
Have you had a deep conversation with anyone lately? Yes. I finally met up with Gab yesterday to discuss a lot things, iron some stuff out, figure out where to go from here.
What was the last compliment you recall receiving from someone? I’m not sure, I haven’t been receiving any.
And the last compliment you gave to someone else? It was most likely a compliment for Andi on how helpful they’ve been to me.
What kind of bread did you eat most recently? Flatbread.
What was the last sound you heard, that you found pleasant? We were watching a mass livestream earlier and I was delighted when they played the closing song.
How many books do you think there are in your house? Take a rough guess. I would guess around 60, the overwhelming bulk of them mine.
Of all the books you own, which do you think has the most pages in it? It would definitely either be Gone with the Wind or Les Miserables, but I’m not sure which one is thicker.
^ And how many pages is that? I checked both of my copies and they’re soooo close – GWTW has 1,440 pages while Les Mis has 1,463.
What was the last film you saw at the cinema? What did you think of it? Knives Out. I went to the mall yesterday and the cinemas were still closed, so it’s not like I’d be able to watch new movies at theatres anyway. Anyway, I’ve been vocal about the movie enough times on my surveys but I didn’t enjoy it. Whodunnits were never my cup of tea, but Gab had wanted to see it and I didn’t want to make her watch the film alone.
In the last book you read, what was the main character's name? Haven’t been reading.
What was the last song you heard, that meant something to you? Lose by Niki.
How many people do you know whose name begins with Z? I can only recall one such person at the moment; it’s one of my mom’s aunts who also doubled as a principal sponsor for my mom and dad’s wedding.
What do you expect to be doing at this time tomorrow? Maybe doing my embroidery (my package finally arrived!!) or surveys or watching Start-Up, because tomorrow will be a holiday :)
survey by luckforlemmy
Did you start listening to more Michael Jackson after his death? I can remember that there was definitely a brief period after his death that I caught up with his discography and listened to MJ nearly everyday; I read up on him and his life as well. 11 year old me figured he must’ve been an interesting figure because of the big reception around his death, so I wanted to know the reasons behind it.
When was the last time that you played hide and seek? I can vividly remember the day when Nina and I played hide and seek when the house was newly-built and still devoid of furniture, back in maybe ‘07 or ‘08. I’m fairly certain that was the last time I played hide and seek.
Who was your first celebrity crush, if you can remember? It was a tie between Ashley Tisdale and Zac Efron, though the older I get the more I’ve been convinced that I ‘crushed’ on Zac only because I was surrounded by girls who went crazy over him in school. I’m pretty sure my first real celebrity crush was Ashley, hahaha.
Do you worry about money? Yeah, especially now. I can’t even enjoy my first paycheck because most of it’s gonna go to Christmas presents, but oh well; at least I can finally buy gifts for my loved ones who’ve always gotten me presents.
Have you ever had to beg for a second chance? Kind of, when I was trying to convince Gab to let our relationship have another shot four years ago. Beg is a strong word for what I actually did, though. It was more of me pitching the idea, not begging.
When was the last time that you sent an actual letter through the mail? I don’t think I even ever did that, not even when I was younger and snail mail was still kind of a thing.
Are you excited to return to school? There’s nothing to return to anymore. Unless I decided to take up a post-grad course in the future, I’m done with school.
Do you hate Internet abbreviations? It can just feel a bit jarring when they’re used excessively in a single sentence, but I honestly don’t mind it for the most part. It’s understandable especially now that most, if not all, of my interactions whether personal or for work happen online.
What was the last insult you gave out? I was never really the roasting type of person, not even towards my friends.
What'd you last look up on YouTube? Hahaha I looked up ‘skynwallz.’ I was looking for the episode of Rhett and Link’s vlogs where they painted the rooms of their offices in the color of their entire person – hair, eyes, and skin. They were joking about starting a new business for it called Skynwallz, so that’s what I looked up.
Are you texting someone really awesome right now? No, I prefer to be alone today.
Do you know when to be serious and when you shouldn't be? Er sure, it’s not that hard.
Do you think that you're funny? I like my sense of humor, yeah, but I know it’s not always going to translate to everybody’s tastes. For example, I’m still figuring out the dynamic in the team I was put in at work, so I can’t make the same jokes that I would normally say with my co-interns with whom I have a more comfortable relationship.
Have you ever sent a secret to Post Secret? I don’t know what this is, so no.
What movie do you really want to see in theatres right now? They aren’t showing anything at the moment. A movie I want to see badly, though, is Ammonite.
Have either of your parents shown affection for you today? My mom made breakfast for us, if it counts. She also gives each of her kids a kiss during the peace-giving portion at mass, so there’s that as well.
What's the last thing that you sang out loud? I watched Start Up before this survey and was humming to the song that was being played at the end of the episode. I couldn’t sing along to it because it was in Korean, but I knew the melody so I hummed.
Is there a word that you always misspell? Rhythm is one of my worst enemies for sure. I also have a love-hate relationship with accommodate.
What was the last thing that you bought that someone else benefited from? I met up with Gabie yesterday and bought her her favorite meal from Yabu to break the ice – menchi katsu with brown rice. I originally got mozzarella sticks for myself but when we got to talking, she mentioned her sisters at one point; I remembered how much I miss them, so I gave up my food and told her to just give my food to her sisters since I hadn’t touched it yet anyway.
Has someone ever made you a really great mix CD? Andi gave me one before she made the flight to New Zealand 10 years ago to permanently live there. I believe I still have it, but I’m just not sure where it currently is.
Have you ever been on Omegle.com? Yes, when I was a teenager and it was new.
Did you talk to someone cool there? Not really; most seem to exit our chat after we did the whole asl thing. I also avoided the webcam option because my anxiety for video calls has always been present.
What song reminds you of your best friend? Any song by The Maine.
Who was the last person to hit on you? Some creep on Facebook.
What's on the paper nearest you? It’s the guide for my embroidery kit. It tells me what stitches to do and the colors of thread to use for the different parts of the template I was provided with.
Do you have a set of lyrics that you really love? From Paramore’s Pool: “As if the first cut wasn’t deep enough, I dove in again ‘cause I’m not into giving up Could’ve gotten the same rush from any lover’s touch, But why get used to something new When no one breaks my heart like you” I scream those lyrics every time they come on. I know I often showed the good, shiny side of my relationship on these surveys; but it was very much toxic at a lot of points and those lyrics - and that song - served as a nest for me, something that told me someone understands how I sometimes felt about my own relationship.
Did you get an A in your last English class? I got a 1.25 instead of a perfect 1.00, but I think that’s still equivalent to an A so yes.
What did you last use scissors for? Cutting thread.
Did you ever secretly hate a friend of yours that thought you liked them? That makes me sound shitty lol, but yeah I’ve acted nicely to people I don’t particularly like.
What do you think of when I say "boat"? That episode of Friends where Joey bought himself a boat at an auction; and Canadian accents.
Would you ever get a tattoo sleeve? Nope. I planned on getting one as a teenager, but I grew out of that phase.
Do you know any really fake people? Yep. I think everyone’s got to be at some point.
What does the last blanket you used look like? It’s pink and has multi-colored polka dots on it.
Do you have appreciation for graffiti? Sure, especially if it’s for political purposes (that I agree with).
Why don't you drive? I do. I just have done it a lot less because I have had little need for driving and traveling to places throughout the pandemic.
Does it annoy you when your printer runs out of ink? I think we have the kind of printer that never runs out of ink, but I’m not exactly sure about the terminologies or how the technology works. I let my sister do the printing hahaha.
Have you ever drank anything from a thermos? Yes, mostly water and coffee.
When was the last time you played in the snow? Never.
Do you know any ignorant people? Sure, mostly Gen X-ers and Boomers.
What is the coolest name you've ever heard? Thylane.
What did you last argue with someone about? Relationship stuff. It wasn’t a full-blown argument, but when Gab and I talked yesterday it was natural for us to disagree on a few points.
Is there anyone that you dislike for no real reason? Hmm, I don’t think so. If I feel that strongly about someone, I usually have a reason otherwise it wouldn’t be fair to them.
Have you had a good day? It was okay; it was nice. I got to do my embroidery hoop art thing, got to watch a couple episodes of Start Up, played with Cooper, and now I’m doing these surveys and am planning to continue my embroidery later. It’s nice to feel productive about non-work things :)
Are you going to have a good night? I hope.
CHAPTER ONE - CHAPTER TWO - CHAPTER THREE
DAVID’S POV
I woke up feeling so heavy. There was a huge weight on my shoulders, my chest, everywhere. I woke up and immediately went to look at my phone to see if (Y/N) messaged me back. Nothing. It was just past noon and no message back. Without even thinking I called her again. I was expecting it to go immediately to voicemail but it didn’t. My heart sank. I sat on the phone for every single ring until it beeped me to voicemail. Instead of leaving another voicemail, I sat back down on the couch, and just stared into space thinking…
It didn’t go straight to voicemail. That means she turned on her phone and saw my messages I left her and she chose not to answer. She chose to ignore my messages and continue doing whatever she was doing. Didn’t that drunk guy say she called some dude named John? Who is John?
Let me retrace my thinking. I know (Y/N) left the club suddenly. The drunk guy told me she was sad and called a dude named John. He also said she was going to this said John. Then I called her a million times and every time ended immediately to a voicemail which meant her phone was off or dead. Then I call her again when I woke up and it kept ringing. Meaning her phone is now on but she just didn’t answer.
I don’t know how to explain any of this other than she is cheating on me? Maybe something sad happened and instead of going to me for a shoulder to lean on she went to John. Why the fuck would she do that? We’ve been dating, we’re in love, does she not trust me? I don’t know what to do.
I felt like an absolute maniac. I was pacing all over my house. Natalie probably came back home while I was asleep and now is awake watching me pace. I don’t know what to do. Shit. Today is filming day. The vlog has to be up tomorrow. But (Y/N). It’s not like I can do anything. She is obviously alive just ignoring me. I guess I’ll just have to wait until she comes to me.
I film a bit with Jason and some of the guys at his house. I’m completely distracted. I have so many emotions about this whole (Y/N) situation. I’m scared because I don’t know where she is. I’m angry because she obviously doesn’t trust me to lean on me for anything. I’m worried she might be cheating on me. All the while, I am here at Jason’s house trying to get some footage for the vlog.
 An agonizing few hours later and I’m finally back at my own home. I sit on the couch about ready to order Postmates when I receive a text from (Y/N). I am so shocked I nearly jumped off the couch. I opened the message and all it said was - I’m sorry. I love you.
What the fuck is that supposed to mean? I called her immediately and it went straight to voicemail. Again. What the fuck? I’m so confused. This girl disappears for over a day. Makes me think she is dead. Then doesn’t answer any of my messages when I know she has her phone on. THEN texts me that she is sorry and loves me. But doesn’t answer when I call her AGAIN. How am I supposed to take all of this? How am I not supposed to suspect she’s cheating. That message looked like a classic cheater message like in those stupid movies.
I’m pacing all over the living room when Natalie walks in.
Natalie: “David, what’s wrong with you?” She asks concerned.
David: “I’m freaking the fuck out over here Nat. (Y/N) has disappeared and I think she might have been cheating on me. I just don’t know what to think or do Nat.” You sighed in defeat and sit on the couch.
Natalie walks around the couch sitting near David.
Natalie: “Just let it all out David.”
That’s what I do. I tell Nat everything. From my suspicions at the club. To the drunk guy telling me about John. My embarrassingly sad amount of messages and voicemails. Her last message.
As you finish telling Natalie the story, you hear the front door open.
(Y/N)?
(Y/N)’s POV
You got out of the airport and immediately into your uber. You were in the car with your phone in hand and decided that this was the time to listen to all David’s voicemails. On his way to his house is when you decided to do this. You felt so stupid barely listening to them now. You thought to yourself...
What if he tells you at the end of the voicemails that he hates you or something and you end up outside his house crying. Too bad. You disappeared on him and now its time to torture myself with these voicemails.
You listened to each one. David getting more and more desperate to know where you were. This beautiful, pure, kind hearted boy just wanted to know if you were okay. You started crying. His desperation to know if you were okay and safe made you feel like someone actually cared about you. Before this you always thought that you’re mom was the only person who would be affected if anything happened to you. When you found out she died, you felt lost. But, here you were, phone glued to your ear, hearing the boy you loved care about your well being.
You were parked outside of his house now. The thought of going in scared you because you didn’t know how he was feeling now or how you would even explain what happened. You toughened up, walked out of your uber, and into his house straight to where he was sitting in the living room.
He stared at you completely shocked. You didn’t know what to do so you just stood there. He got up from the couch, looked straight into your eyes, and said - you cheated on me didn’t you? He didn’t even wait for me to answer before pacing all over the living room yelling all kinds of gibberish.
Why would you do this to me? (Y/N) I don’t understand what I did wrong? How could you do this to me! We’ve dated for over a year and we loved each other. I don’t understand what happened.
You just stood there like a dead fish. You stared at him pace around and started crying. This was all too much. Your mom, the drugs, and now David thought you cheated on him. He saw you started crying and stopped pacing to walk over to you. He stood only a couple feet away from you when he said.
“What the fuck (Y/N/N)!” David yelled at your already sobbing face. You could feel the tingles on your neck when he yelled at you. You just stood there, in front of him, crying, attempting to hold your head up high. “Spit it out. Tell it to me straight!” He yelled again.
You straighten your back. Looked him in the eyes with tears rolling down your face and said. “I used again.”
His face softened. “What?”
(Y/N): “I used again.”
He grabbed you by the wrist and walked you over to the couch. He sat down and patted the spot right next to him for you to sit down too. He faced you and said -
David: “Baby. I need you to tell me everything.”
You sighed and told him everything. You told him how you went out to the balcony for some air at the club when you listened to a voicemail telling you the most devastating news. You told him that your first instinct was to call your old friend John to go back to your old ways of coping. You told him how you flew to Dallas and partied so hard you woke up on the parking lot of an animal shelter. You told him how you saw your old home become a place of sweet nostalgia into a place of deep pain and sadness. You told him how after you saw your mom and talked to the police that all you wanted to do was give him a hug. You told him how when you got back to Johns before leaving to the airport he told you how lucky you were to finally be out of your old life but their current one. You told him every gory detail while he sat there, not a word coming out of his mouth.
He was silent the entire time only for a few tears to leak out of his eyes. When you finished telling him for what felt like hours, he just sat there staring at you with pure love in his eyes. He grabbed your face with both of his hands and wiped your tears away with his thumb. He got so close to your face that your foreheads were touching, looking into your eyes, he said - you are the strongest woman I’ve ever met.
You started crying again when those words came out of his mouth. He pulled your face closer so his lips could meet yours. When they connected you could feel the love and care he had for you. The way he kissed you was like he was trying to soothe your pain. As if he were attempting to transfer the pain you felt over to him, so you wouldn’t have to carry the burden. When you both pulled apart, you immediately pulled him in for a hug. You both whispered I love yous to each other until you fell asleep, cuddled in each other’s arms.
America’s Most Eligible 3 Diamond Scene: Boardwalk with Jen
You: Miami Boardwalk Market, here we come! Jen: After you. With a few subtle glances at the preoccupied cast and crew, you and Jen quietly slink off down the beach.
Jen takes your hand in hers as the two of you walk along the beach en route to the boardwalk. You: I’ve missed spending time together like a normal couple. Jen: That makes sense. We haven’t really had such of an opportunity. You: What do you mean? Jen: We’ve had to beg, borrow, and steal so many moments… Jen gives your hand a gentle squeeze and shoots you a beautiful smile.Jen: Even just holding your hand in public is a thrill. ‘Normal’ is almost an entirely new concept for us. You: True… but not for long. Soon, we’ll be a boring, old married couple just like everyone else. Jen: Somehow, I don’t think you could be boring if you tried. You: Oh, really?
You: Not even if I… -Insisted we stick to a routine?
Jen: There’s nothing boring about living a more structured life. You: So you’d be okay with eating bland oatmeal for breakfast every day? Jen: I like oatmeal. You: And wearing ‘days of the week’ underwear? Jen: As long as you’re the one seeing me in them. You: Being in bed by 9PM every night? Jen: That just leaves more time for snuggling. You: There isn’t anything I could do that would turn you off? Jen: Sorry, Jamie. Looks like you’re stuck with me.
-Never left our house?
You: I could work from home, play video games, watch vlogs… Jen: You forget that in my real world condo, I love alone with only my plants to keep me company. Jen: As much as I love Phoebe the ficus, having you there would be a massive upgrade. You: Even if I was always around? Jen: Especially then. Trust me, you’d bore yourself long before you’d ever bore me. You: Good, because in a few weeks, I’ll be your lifelong roommate and live-in best friend. Jen: With everything going on, I hadn’t even stopped to think about it being our house. You: Not just our house… our home. The place where we live together and love each other. Jen: It’s going to be so… cozy.
Jen: I just wish we could skip ahead to that right now. I can’t wait to start making memories with you. The two of you come to a stop as you finally reach the boardwalk, and you scan the market, taking in the hustle and bustle as people discover the sales. Your eyes land on the market’s photo backdrop and camera station. You: Then let’s start now. Hand in hand, you rush over, pulling Jen in close as you get situated in front of the lens. You select the settings, and the screen begins a countdown. You: Quick!
You: We should… -Be silly!
You suck in your cheeks and pucker your lips, while Jen makes a fish face and holds two fingers behind your head. The camera flashes and produces a printout of the image on the screen. Jen: I love this. Just us, goofing off on a normal day out. You: The first of many.
-Use props!
You grab a pair of plastic handcuffs from the prop table and fasten them around your wrists, while Jen puts on a sheer veil. The camera flashes and produces a printout of the image on the screen. Jen: Nothing to see here, folks. You: Just a smooth criminal and her bride.
-No action
Before you can finish your sentence, the camera flashes, catching you with your mouth open and eyes closed. Jen: Oh, this one’s definitely a keeper. You: We should save that for right above the mantel.
Jen: Let’s do one more. This time, Jen feeds the machine, and as she turns to smile at the camera, you…
You: … -Kiss her!
Gently, you turn her head back to you and graze her lips with your own. She responds immediately, wrapping her arms around your neck and pressing her chest to yours… You: Jen… She glides the tip of her tongue against your bottom lip, and you welcome her inside, exploring the warmth of her mouth with thinly restrained passion. The camera flashes, reclaiming your attention and capturing your intimate moment forever. With a shy smile, you separate. Jen: Now we can go.
-Squeeze her!
You wait until just before the final countdown… then wrap your arms around her in a giant bear hug! Jen: Ah! The camera flashes, capturing her shock and your smile, cementing this singular moment of joy. You: That’s a great picture.
-No action
You turn to face Jen, observing a rare moment of peace as she smiles from ear to ear. Jen: You missed it! You: No, I saw exactly what I meant to.
The two of you leave the photo area and take your time meandering through the shops at the market, sifting through postcards, hand-made pottery, and fancy soaps. You stop at a pop-up stand to sort through vintage licence plates, finally holding up one that reads, ‘YOLOLIFE’. You: I don’t think they knew what ‘YOLO’ stands for… But when you look around, Jen is nowhere to be found. You: Jen? Jen: In here!
You follow her voice into an expensive looking boutique and find her with her hands tucked carefully behind her back. Jen: So… I got you something. Actually, I got us something… Gingerly, she holds out a light blue ribbon for you to see.
-Something Blue!
You: A ribbon?
You: Jen… -It’s beautiful!
You: Thank you! I’ll wear it to the wedding. You reach to take it from her, but she pulls back slightly with a laugh. Jen: No, you don’t wear it.
-I don’t understand…
You: I love that you got us a present, but what is this for? Jen: It’s no secret that we haven’t had the most… conventional relationship. I think we should lean into that.
Jen: The ribbon is for a ceremonial handfasting during the wedding. We’d hold hands and tie it around our wrists as a symbol of our being joined together. You: Literally, tying the knot. Jen: Exactly. +50 You: That’s so thoughtful. I… I don’t know what to say. Jen: That you’re as excited to marry me as I am to marry you? You: I thought that was a given.
Jen carefully folds the ribbon into her pocket then takes your hand, and you follow her back out onto the beach. With sad eyes, she looks in the direction of the AME set. Jen: We’d better be getting back. I’m sure Omar and Wrenn have everything under control, but I’d feel better seeing it for myself. You: Fair enough… Carson’s probably seconds away from convincing them to add a jellyfish obstacle as a twist. Jen: You joke, but that was pitched more than once in the brainstorm. Jen: Thanks for coming with me, Jamie. You: Of course. I never get enough of spending time with you. Jen: You say that now… You: And I’ll say it forever. Jen smiles at you, and the two of you start down the beach, making your way back to the relay race one step at a time.
Power of the Internet 3
Summary: We moved in together - Chloe Beale
You can find the first one here and the second one here.
Hope you guys enjoy it :D
Suppressing a yawn, Beca stopped in front of the door and glanced down at her wrist watch, inhaling sharply. Waking up at 7 am on a Saturday to spent the day packing all of Chloe’s stuff into the truck and then unpack into their new house was going to be brutal. Sliding the sunglasses over her eyes, Beca rang the doorbell and instantly heard the now grown Bella scraping her claws on the surface.
Not long after, Chloe pulled the door open and rushed her inside. She was in her white bathrobe, make-up halfway done and her hair in a loose bun. Beca gaped at her.
“You’re not ready?” She asked in disbelief, crossing her arms over her chest to show she was annoyed.
Chloe rolled her eyes and quickly pecked her lips, wobbling back inside her bedroom. “Babe, it’s 7:30 am. I just woke up. What do you want from me?”
 As Beca walked to the bedroom, she noted the bare walls and several carton boxes on the ground. Chloe packed up her whole apartment nicely but Beca groaned at the thought of the heavy labor. Beca collapsed onto the mattress and stared at the ceiling.
“Exactly. It’s way too early for us to be up. Tell me again why do we have to move in the morning?” Beca whined tiredly and pushed the glasses off her head, rubbing her eyes with her fist.
She grabbed her mascara and continued doing her light make-up. “Because I have a lot of stuff and it’s gonna take us more than one day anyway so we might as well start early. The U-Haul is going to be here in 30 minutes and I still have to start my vlog.”
Beca snapped her head up, looking at the back of Chloe’s head with her eyes wide open. “No, Chlo we have too many stuff to do today. You can’t possible think about putting this mess on video.” She motioned at her face.
“It’s a special day in our relationship. I have to film it.” Chloe argued, focused on nailing her eyeliner. “I already mentioned it last week that we’re moving so they are expecting a video. I can’t let them down.”
Beca puffed but didn’t protest and laid back down, Bella quickly joining her beside her head. “Fine but please don’t put me in it.”
Chloe rolled her eyes. Tired Beca sometimes bordered on annoying but Chloe more times then not found her adorable. “Okay, baby. You can take a twenty minute nap if you want to but I’m waking you up as soon as the truck is here. We have a long day ahead of us.”
As soon as the clock hit 7:30, Chloe climbed on her bed carefully to avoid stepping on Bella who was draped across Beca’s stomach and crawled over her girlfriend. Leaning down slowly, she began to prep her face with little kisses starting at her forehead then proceeding down to her nose then finally kissing her lips.
Beca stirred as Chloe’s lips pressed down onto hers and quickly returning the kiss, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. Bella whined at the added weight before slipping out between the couple and angrily laying down on the floor. Finally without a barrier, Chloe melted into the embrace and pulled away from the kiss.
“Good morning.” She whispered, wanting to maintain their bubble as long as possible because she knew their day’s about to be a little hectic. She pecked her lips a couple of times playfully while Beca toyed with her hair.
“Can’t we just stay here all day?” Her tone so soft and child-like Chloe hated denying her anything but she didn’t have a choice.
“I’d love nothing more than to stay here. You know how much I need cuddle time with you but think about it. When we moved into our home, we got to be like this all the time. No more driving back and forth and bouncing from one place to another. We’ll have a home. Together.”
“I know and I love the sound of that but the actual moving part...Chlo, we have to lift your whole apartment.” Beca exaggerated, making Chloe snort into her shoulder.
“I wasn’t the one who said no to hiring movers so don’t blame me. You brought this on yourself.” Chloe said and quickly pushed herself off Beca by her arms and get out of the bed. If she didn’t move, she knew Beca would hold her there all day long.
“Argh, I didn’t know you had so many stuff.” Beca whined before sitting up. “Besides they were too expensive. I could move three houses myself using the money they wanted.”
Chloe smoothed down her hair and chuckled. “I think we could’ve afford them, babe. We’re not exactly shortage on money at the moment.”
With Beca’s working on her debut album after producing three before and Chloe’s ever growing following on YouTube, money wasn’t a problem for the time being. Beca was always careful with their spending and it payed off when they bought their very first house right outside the city with a beautiful garden in the back yard.
Beca opened her mouth to argue when loud honking interrupted their conversation. Bella barked alarmingly and Chloe bounced on her toes in excitement.
“The truck’s here!”
Beca jumped up into the truck and grabbed the last box from the back. After successfully loading up the truck with Chloe’s belongings and Bella in the seat between them up front, Beca drove away while Chloe smiled emotionally at her first home. Beca squeezed her knuckles comfortingly and let her shed a couple of tears before she returned back to her Chloe.
Pulling up in front of the house, Beca felt her breath caught into her throat at the sight. Although, they were here a week ago to finalize paperwork, this time it felt different. She knew she was coming home.
They spent the whole morning and well into the afternoon, maneuvering around each other and moving back and forth between the front yard and inside the spacious living room. Chloe had the idea that for the time being, they should only put the boxes just inside the house and later on they could sort them out little by little.
And that’s how they worked until Beca had the pleasure of carrying the last box inside. Carefully jumping off the platform, Beca made her way to the sidewalk before two high pitched squeal sounded behind her. Cautiously turning around, Beca saw two teenage girls with their hands over their mouths and literally jumping up and down.
Beca’s eyes widen in fear.
“Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God!” One of them screamed and Beca wanted to run back inside the house.
She loved her fans, knowing she would be nowhere without them but meeting face to face was scary for the brunette. Their fans were so passionate about their relationship that sometimes it bordered on creepy and Beca didn’t know how she felt about meeting them in front of their house. One word on Twitter and the next day, hundreds of girls and boys would be screaming in their front yard.
“Beca Mitchell! Oh my God. We’re such huge fans!” The two girls inched closer and unconsciously Beca took a step back. She needed to handle this carefully.
“H-Hey guys. How are you?” She asked, putting down the box by the gate and turning towards them. She prayed Chloe stays inside.
“No way!” The blonde girl gasped as her eyes flickered between the U-Haul and the box, connecting the dotes inside her head. “There’s no way Chloe Beale and Beca Mitchell are moving in my street! Alice, pinch me. This can’t be real.” She ordered dramatically holding her arm out for her girlfriend and when she still stood in front of her idol, she let out a squeal. “It is real!”
“Beca, can we get an autograph? Please?” The brunette - Alice - asked Beca seemingly calmer but the twitching hand gave away her facade.
“And a picture!” It came out more of an order than a question but Beca nodded.
“Let me go inside to grab a pen and a piece of paper, okay? I’ll be right back.” She said carefully and lifted the box again, walking away from the girls and safely inside her home. She could hear Chloe upstairs talking loudly, probably vlogging her house tour video she promised her fans while Bella slept on the couch. Beca quickly fished out a notebook and a pen from her purse and ran outside the yard.
The girls were still there, waiting as patiently as they could as Beca signed the papers and took two selfies with both of them individually. She was on the urge of bidding them goodbye when the front door opened and the three figures snapped their attention to the redhead watching back her footage on the camera.
“Baby, do you know where we put the tripod? I can’t find it anywhere and I kinda need - “ At the loud screaming, Chloe whipped her head up.
“Chloe! Oh my GOD!”
Beca deadpanned when Chloe yelped as well and ran to the girls, quickly wrapping both of her arms around them. To say Chloe treated her fans like family would be an understatement. The redhead always took the time to interact with her followers properly, giving them lots of hugs and kisses, signing everything they handed to her and doing an almost proper photoshoot to make sure they had the best experience.
The three girls chatted away a mile a minute as Beca stood frozen on the outside. At one point, Chloe even turned on her camera and introduced the girls, making them almost cry of joy.
Beca had to subtly pull her away and inside their home, but not before asking the girls politely not to say anything about their address online or any others and while Chloe wholeheartedly believed them when they promised, Beca wasn’t so sure but she couldn’t do anything about it at the moment, so she let it go.
As the sun set and the moon appeared, the young couple retreated back into their bedroom for the first time. They unpacked necessities like mugs and toothbrushes but were too tired to really start the process, opting to leave it for tomorrow.
Beca laid down on the mattress, stretching out limbs and taking up all the space on the queen size bed while Chloe showered and got ready for bed. A small smile blossomed on her face at the domestic feeling of it all.
Soon, Chloe came out of the en-suite bathroom and crawled on all four until she reached Beca’s lips, kissing her tenderly.
“I’m exhausted.” She whispered between nips, then collapsed on top of her wrapping her whole body around Beca.
The brunette ran her fingers lightly over Chloe’s spine, smoothing the redhead. “Did you shoot your video? You didn’t let down your fans?” She joked softly, her finger wounding up in Chloe’s hair, messaging her scalp lovingly.
Chloe smiled into her shoulders, chest heaving up and down in small laughter.
“No, I didn’t let them down. I upload the video next week.” At gentle rise and fell of Beca’s breathing started to lure her into sleep as they both remained silent.
Chloe was at the edge of slumber when Beca’s soft tone reached her ears.
“Welcome home, baby.”
Author’s Note: Hi peeps! Firstly, my apologies to @teenwishes08 , I’m so sorry I am posting this so late! Thanks for the prompt! I hope you guys enjoy the fic :)
---
Tom POV:
"Hey guys, what's up, welcome back to my channel—" I heard and looked up, smiling amusedly. My wife, Y/N was filming her weekly YouTube video. She was sitting at the dining table, holding her camera in one hand as she filmed herself. Oh, so I guess she was vlogging.
"As you guys have requested countless times before, I am finally doing a house tour! Literally, so many of you have asked— oh, Tessa has decided to join us," she giggled as my dog, Tessa, jumped into her lap and started licking her face. Oh, I loved Y/N so much.
Let me take you back a few years. Y/N and I met through our parents, who were good friends. My family and her family went on a vacation together, during which we became good friends. Y/N was a year younger than me, and an only child. I wonder what that was like, heh.
Anyway, after that trip, we really hit it off. When we told our parents, they were very supportive, and so were Harry, Sam and Paddy. A year into the relationship, we announced it on Instagram. No one saw it coming, I mean, a famous YouTuber (she was quite successful at the time) and a famous actor?
Was it for show?
No.
It wasn't.
We met when I was 15 and she was 14. Now I was 25 and she was 24, 10 years had passed. We were still going strong and weren't going to stop for another 100 years. I loved Y/N to death, she was the most perfect person anyone could ask for. She was beautiful, intelligent, creative, kind, polite… simply divine.
I proposed to her at the age of 21. We got married just a few months after. It wasn't a big event, only a few people were invited on both sides. The entire Marvel cast was there, though. I mean, even Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie showed up, like what?! They kept telling me that they were there for Y/N, which I instantly knew was bullshit because they didn't even know her well.
"Tessa, stop disturbing Y/N!" I called out and they turned to me. "Oh yeah, there's Tom. Say hi, buddy!" I rolled my eyes but waved at the camera nonetheless. "Buddy? I am your husband." She got up and plopped down next to me, pressing a kiss to my cheek. "Whatever, hubby dearest. On with the tour!"
She got up immediately and walked out of the room. We lived in London in a two-story house. My parents' house was not far from here. Tessa started walking around the room, finally settling down near the dining table. That reminded me, I was on lunch duty today.
I rubbed my hands and got up, walking to the stairs. "Y/N!" I yelled. "What?" she answered from upstairs. "Are you done with the house tour?" "No, I'm still doing it! What is it?" I chuckled. "What do you want to eat for lunch?" I got no answer for a few minutes, so I went upstairs. I entered the room to see Y/N sitting on the bed, a book in her hands.
The camera was kept to the side. "Y/N?" Startled, she looked at me. "Oh, sorry, you were saying?" I sat next to her. She was looking at our marriage photo album. "So many nice memories, huh?" I chuckled, wrapping an arm around her waist. "Right? I had a lot of fun."
We looked at the pictures together. "This one is my favourite picture," she smiled, running her fingers over a specific photo. Y/N and I were standing in the middle of it, with the Marvel cast surrounding us. Robert next to me, Sebastian next to Y/N.
He was holding up two fingers over my head while I smiled at the camera, clueless. Y/N and Robert were looking at me, laughing, while Sebastian smirked cheekily at the camera. Everyone was grinning. The photo was adorably candid. "You look beautiful in it, you know? Look at that smile on your face," I commented, pointing to her in the photo.
"Aw, aren't you a sap?" I huffed good-naturedly, nudging her shoulder. "What do you want to eat for lunch?" I asked her. "Anything is fine by me. Now, I'll be getting back to the house tour, I need to post a video today." I ruffled her hair. "I love you," I whispered, giving her a soft kiss.
She kissed back, smiling. "I love you too, Tom." I left the room, going to the kitchen to make us some lunch.
Y/N POV:
While vlogging, I ended up in the bathroom for a few minutes, which filled my mind with memories 2 weeks old. Having felt severe nausea and tiredness then, I had taken a few pregnancy tests to check if I was sick or pregnant. The shock I felt when all of them turned out positive… I still hadn't told Tom.
Yeah, I mean, I knew we were married for 4 years and he actually did want a child, I just didn't know how to tell him. After finishing with the filming of the vlog, I kept my camera away and went downstairs. The smell of delicious food filled my nostrils and I smiled widely. He looked up when I entered the kitchen.
"Need help?" I asked him, standing next to him. "You ask me that all the time, Y/N, I don't. I know how to cook," he laughed. He had cooked some roasted potatoes and sandwiches, as well as fish and chips. I guess he ordered the fish and chips from somewhere, they didn't look homecooked.
"Just saying." I jokingly raised my arms in surrender and we walked outside with our plates. Sitting at the dining table, I stared at my plate. Should I tell Tom now? He wouldn't be upset, that was for sure. "Hey, uh, I need to tell you something," I blurted out.
"What is it?" he glanced at me, stuffing his face with food. I rolled my eyes at his mannerisms. "Tom, our kid is going to look up to you, have some manners." As soon as I said that, the man choked on his food. He started coughing violently and ended up chugging a glass of water to make the food go down.
"Our kid? Are you pregnant?" he asked me with a husky voice and wide eyes. I smiled and nodded, tearing up as I made up an image in my mind of Tom holding our new-born kid for the first time. "Y/N! That is fucking superb! How many weeks?" he laughed loudly, getting up. He pulled me up to give me a huge hug.
"I guess I'm a month in now, I found out 2 weeks ago. Sorry, I was too chicken to tell you," I smiled sheepishly, resting my head on his shoulder. He hugged me tighter, pressing kisses to my face. "I'm gonna be a dad," he whispered, also tearing up. "The best one." I reached up to cup his cheek. He leaned in and pressed his lips to mine.
"We have to tell mum and dad, they will be so happy! We should go over in the evening! Call your parents!" I smiled softly at the excitement he expressed. Tom, I knew, was going to make a great father. "Okay, okay." He gleefully sat back down to finish his meal.
He was acting like a 10-year-old little boy who just found out that he was going to receive his favourite toy for Christmas. Bouncing on his seat and everything. We finished eating and went to the sitting room to relax. As we cuddled up on the couch, I called my mother.
"Ma? Hey!" I grinned when she picked up the call. "Y/N, sweetie, how are you? Is everything okay?" she answered. "Yeah mom, everything is awesome! I was thinking, will you and dad be able to come to Tom's parents' house this evening?"
"Well, yeah, okay. What is it today? Oh no, did I forget your anniversary?" I laughed at her words. "No, mum, Tom and I have to tell you something. Just be there, okay? Yeah. Yeah, mom! It's a surprise, I can't tell it to you right now. See you in the evening, bye!"
I ended the call and turned to Tom. "They're going to be so happy," I chuckled, resting my head on his shoulder. "I know. I can't believe it, I'm going to be a father," he whispered, taking my hand. He brought it to his face, pressing a kiss to my knuckles. "We have to now turn the guest bedroom into the baby's room," I grinned.
"Yes! And shop for supplies, you know, baby clothes, baby bottles, diapers— and we have to arrange a gender-reveal party— not with the bombs and everything, obviously, we don't want another California here— maybe just simple cake-cutting?"
"About that, I was thinking," I interrupted my husband's rambling. He paused and looked at me. "What is it?" he smiled. "Why don't we do something different instead of the usual pink for girls and blue for boys? What if we use different colours? I mean, girls can like blue, boys can like pink— also what if our baby grows up to identify as something else?"
He thought for a few seconds. "I'm open to doing that," he started, "But won't it be weird for everyone else? They're all used to the usual pink and blue." I frowned. He was right, we should probably stick to the norm. "Yeah, I guess," I muttered, disheartened.
"Look, I have an idea." He cupped my cheeks. "We can have a gender-reveal party for just the two of us using your idea, okay? Then, we can throw a bigger party for the others. How does that sound?" A smile bloomed on my face. "I am so glad I married you," I laughed, giving him a kiss. After cuddling for a while more, I went upstairs to edit my vlog while Tom stayed downstairs and watched TV.
---
Tom POV:
I waited at the bottom of the stairs, dressed in a sweater and jeans. I checked my watch again, sighing. "Y/N, ready yet?" I groaned, leaning heavily against the railing. When the door clicked opened, I looked up and nearly lost my balance. Y/N looked gorgeous.
She was dressed in a knee-length, comfortable dress, wearing minimal makeup and a pair of earrings. "Yeah, I'm ready," she said, laughing as I straightened myself and held a hand out for her. After wearing our footwear, we stepped out of the house.
"I'm so nervous," Y/N exhaled as we got into our car. "It's going to be okay, Y/N. They won't be disappointed, they are gonna be ecstatic. God knows my mum has been asking for grandbabies ever since we got married." She laughed at that, taking my hand. "Same with my mum. What is it with every newlyweds' mothers and grandbabies, am I right?"
"Totally." The drive to my parents' house took us 15 minutes. Upon parking the car, I noticed that we were the last ones to arrive. Y/N's parents as well as Harry and Sam were already there. Y/N rang the bell, both of us giving each other nervous smiles as we waited for the door to be opened.
Paddy opened the door. "What took you so long?!" he groaned as we walked in. "Sorry, man, I was getting ready. Hey everyone," Y/N chuckled, ruffling Paddy's hair. "Y/N, looking gorgeous," Mum grinned, pulling my wife in a hug. "Thank you, Mrs Holland."
"4 years and you are still calling me Mrs Holland? It's Nikki for you, dear," Mum sighed. "Okay, Nikki." All of us settled down. "You said over the phone that you wanted to tell us something?" Mrs Y/L/N spoke worriedly. "Yeah. It's a pretty big announcement… I— Tom, tell them."
I blinked at Y/N as she nudged me, nestling against me. "Oh, if I must," I sighed, "Y/N is pregnant." There was silence for a few minutes, until Harry and Sam jumped up, over the moon. "We're gonna be uncles!" they squealed, hugging each other. "How many months along are you?" Mum whispered, tearing up.
Y/N and I got up, exchanging hugs with everyone. Mr Y/L/N was the one who hugged me the tightest. "You are going to be an amazing dad, son," he whispered and I hugged back just as tightly, an emotional smile on my face. "Thanks, sir." He scoffed, waving his arm dismissively. "Y/D/N." I grinned and nodded.
"I am probably one month long, I told Tom this afternoon. I found out 2 weeks ago," Y/N answered. "Holy shit, I'm going to be an uncle too!" Paddy gasped, running his hands through his hair. I snorted when mum slapped him upside the head. "You have to mind your language if you want to be around my baby," I joked.
"I'll work on it," he muttered, rubbing his head and pouting at mum. "Celebratory dinner! Come on, everyone!" Our group of 9 moved to the dining table, where dinner was ready and waiting. "So, lots of new changes in your life now, huh?" Dad chuckled.
"Yeah. Can't wait for the sleepless nights and the diaper changing," Y/N smiled sarcastically, which made us all laugh. "Some down-points, sure. But having a baby is a magical experience," Mrs Y/L/N said wisely. "I know, mum. We are going to have a lot of fun! We'll be the cool parents." She nudged me and I put an arm around her, smiling.
"I'm sure. You're going to take a break from acting now?" Sam looked at me. "Of course, bro. Y/N needs me more. I'm going to be here for her," I scoffed. "I'm also going to take a break from YouTube. I don't want my baby in the eyes of the media, I guess I'll probably quit YouTube." I glanced at Y/N.
"Do you want to take such a huge step? You have 10 million followers on there, love," I asked her. "I am going to quit, it's final. It's our baby, Tom, I want to be there for them at all times. I guess I'll still post videos now and then, but not as frequently as I do now," she sighed.
"A noble move," Harry nodded. "Tom will get back into acting after I have the baby," she continued, patting my shoulder. "I mean— we do need an income so I guess. But I won't be accepting as many roles. I want to be there for the baby." I placed my hand on Y/N's tummy, smiling when I realized there was going to be a real human in there soon.
"See? These decisions that you are taking now, they just scream brilliant parents. You two are going to be awesome," Mum chuckled and we looked at the parents. All four of them were smiling at us. I flushed a bit under their gazes, rubbing the back of my neck.
"Thanks, you guys."
Dinner was a jovial affair.
Hello?
Is this thing on?
How do you work this thing? Oh, there it goes… Wait, was it already on? Oh, nevermind.
Hi, guys! Diego here, your friendly neighborhood struggling college student. Back at you again with another weekly vlog. Only this time… this video’s gonna be a little different than what you’re used to.
See.
Mmmm.
Today’s the anniversary of the La Huerta event. Five years. You all know I was there. I get enough messages asking me what happened. I tend to ignore those.
Sorry.
I just…
It’s a lot, you know?
A lot of shit happened and I… I like to try and forget about it. Try and fail.
When I first started making videos, it was so I’d have an outlet to talk about things. This included. That was the plan, anyway, but… I’d start, but never go through with it and just delete the draft.
I’ll talk about it, one day, but not today… today I want to talk about what came after. You know, when we came back. I want to talk about how it…. affected us. How we’re doing. Me and my friends. So you know why I have problems talking about it to you guys.
There were thirteen of us.
Myself, Terrance, Jake, Grace, Sean, Estela
Quinn, Aleister, Zahra, Raj, Craig, Michelle and…
and Lila.
She didn’t make it.
You all probably heard the story one way or another. Everett Rourke, think the Anti-Tony Stark if he was raised by Lex Luther and Dr. Doom. Rourke got his hands on some time-travel nonsense. I still don’t completely understand everything that happened. It was all such a whirlwind. One day I’ve having a beer by the hotel pool, watching Raj do a cannonball on top of Craig, the next I’m being taken pris-
…
We stopped him, but… they put us in quarantine. We spent a long time in a lab. We’re were giving off this strange energy signature. They were worried we were radioactive or something. I don’t know, I’m not smart enough for that stuff, but after that they let us go home. So we went home, tried to forget and get on with our lives, but the thing is… you can’t forget. Not something like that. It catches up to you. The nightmares, mostly. What happened, what we did, what we didn’t do.
It was different on the island. We were running from one dangerous situation to the next, dodging bullets and time paradoxes. Paradoxi? Paradoxes? Fuck, time bullshit. Like… fuck time travel. Back to the Future makes it sounds cool, like, I’d kill to ride in a DeLorean. But that’s movie stuff.
I guess I shouldn’t really be complaining. Terrance dealt with most of that bullshit.
It really got to him.
Even on the island, he’d start talking about things that never happened. Conversations we never had, knowing things nobody told him. It freaked me out, but I think it freaked him out more. He had visions too. Bad ones. He doesn’t talk about them. Except with Michelle.
Terrance is doing good. Considering. He lives with Michelle. We don’t talk that much anymore. We’re still best friends, sure, but… he’s tired. He’s tired a lot, all the time. It’s good he’s living with Michelle. She makes sure he doesn’t stay in bed. I don’t think he’d actually stay there all day, every day, but….
Michelle is good for him. They’re good together. I’m kind of jealous.
Michelle is doing great. Missing so much school put her back, put us all back really, but she got back into the swing of things. She’s still planning to be a neurosurgeon which is cool. She still has a year or two to go, I think. I don’t think I could ever do that. The blood and-
When we finally got back stateside, well, out of the labs and back home… back to Hartfeld, Michelle went off on the Kappa girls. It was AH-MAH-ZING. So good. I think Zahra got it all. Next time I see her, I’ll try and get a copy and post it for you guys. Michelle just tears into them. Somebody call the fire department, you know?
Zahra is doing good. Considering. I’m probably going to be saying that a lot. She’s alone, most of the time. She dropped out of school. She’s still in Northbridge, got herself an apartment. She’s always sending me funny Youtube videos. A lot of cat stuff. Cats are funny. I think she sends them to everyone. I think I’m the only one who responds back.
She shaved her head.
I mean, I guess she kinda had to after what the Arachnid did-
did to…
They, ah…
She keeps it shaven. She always comes to the reunions and she always keeps it short. It looks nice. Don’t tell her I said that.
I don’t think she watches my videos.
She might.
Fuck.
She told me she got a cat. Named her Varyyn. They go for walks which is weird, like, you walk dogs, not cats. I guess some people do it, but… I don’t know. It’s weird. Having Varyyn helps Zahra. Caring for something else, having them depend on you. I get that with the fish Terrance got me for my birthday.
He named it Cetus.
Most of us try to avoid conflict. Well, besides the thing with Michelle and the Kappa girls. We just… you know, try to do our own thing. Not Sean though. If anything, the La Huerta event lit a fire in him. He’s not into football anymore. He went to one game, got onto the field and then… walked away. He didn’t see a point. After learning what happened with Jake and the Arachnid and companies like Rourke, Sean went into the political scene.
There are more men out there like Rourke. Sean wants to make sure they never get the chance to do what he did. He wants to make the world a better place.
Craig, on the other hand, he stuck with football and got drafted! Woot woot. My boy, #68!
 …
I like Craig. He’s… he’s nice when you get to know him. He’s an amazing Offensive Guard. Like, you should’ve seen him on the island. Knocked down heavily armored, military-trained soldiers like they were plastic cups. I guess… I guess with Sean out of the picture, Craig could really shine. He’s not bad, but compared to Sean… it’s like, I mean, the dude’s 6′5″. Who wouldn’t look at-
Moving on.
While a fire was lit in Sean, Estela’s fire died down. She stayed enrolled at Hartfeld, even though it was just a means to get to Rourke through Aleister, but she took a lot of time off for herself. She lives with Quinn now. They’re not together together, but they’re really good friends now. Helps out with Quinn’s bakery. I go there a lot and give her a hard time. Quinn laughs at my jokes, Estela just gives me a cold stare. Like she might drag me into the backroom and bake me into a cake.
Oh, I should probably talk about Quinn’s bakery. For Goodness’ Cake. BEST. CUPCAKES. EVER. If you haven’t gone, go. It’s the best.
It’s Quinn’s pride and joy. Aleister helped her start it up before selling his father’s company. I’ll talk about that next. Quinn’s parents help her out and guess what? They got back together. Quinn was really hoping they would. I’m happy for her. I guess she took a page from Raj. If pies make peace, what do cakes make? I mean, the cake’s definitely not a lie, amiright?
…
Moving on.
Yeah, Aleister took over his father company. Being the sole heir and all. He helped Quinn get started with her bakery then he sold it, but not before wiping all traces of Rourke’s projects. All the research plans and prototypes. Gone. I don’t see that much of Aleister, but he always attends our reunions. He travels a lot. He says he wants to see more of the world. He certainly has enough money to live comfortably without a job.
Lucky bastard.
Grace reconnected with her mom. They’re doing good. Grace said she’ll be taking over when her mom retired.
Oh and guess what?
They got married! Like, I didn’t think they would! I didn’t think Aleister would work up the courage, but he did. It was a great wedding. Small, just us and Grace’s parents.
Jake’s still a pilot, but he’s no longer on the run. That’s good. He got to see his mom again and his sister. I wasn’t there, but Terrance was. You know, for support. He said there wasn’t a lot of talking, but a lot of crying. I can imagine.
And omg, he cut his hair. I think his mom made him do it. Okay, so, during the wedding, I saw this really cute guy and I’m thinking ‘Who is this guy? I thought Grace and Aleister only invited us?’ So I walk up to him to talk and it was Jake! Like, we all joke and say he looks like Jared Leto. That’s why his nickname is Joker, but he totally looks like Ryan Reynolds except, you know, not as tall.
Raj cleaned up his act. I mean, not that it needed cleaning up, but…. hey, no drugs! He’s still all about those parties, but… he’s more focused now. He wants to be a chef! You know, his feasts really brought us together on the island. Without him, we would’ve been our own undoing before Rourke or the Vaanti ever got their hands on us. He’s working with this really strict, but really talented chef in Northbridge. I think her name is Mira?
…
We’re all doing good.
Sometimes I catch myself wondering if this is a dream. That this is my brain’s attempt to give me some rest and when I wake up, I’ll be back on the island. Totally bearded again, back into the fight. An endless summer.
I know that’s not true. I’m here. It’s over. I’m picking up the pieces. My life’s mine again. The nightmares are still there, but I know I’ll be alright someday. We’ll all be alright someday.
We have each other and I couldn’t ask for a better group of friends.
This is Deigo and I’ll see you next time on The Diego Show!
Travelling in China on a public holiday
Having heard of the horror stories of squeezing with hordes of domestic tourists while travelling in China on a public holiday, my friends were unwilling to step out of Shanghai over the Qingming Festival public holiday. But those who know me well enough would know that is not a sufficiently good enough reason to dissuade me from making full use of my time here in China to explore other places 😛 Nonetheless, I had to be cautious too and make suitable plans, instead of throwing myself into the crowds and having every photo taken being "bombed" by some random tourist. After watching some travel vlogs and soliciting for more opinion, I decided to head for Fujian province, which was not one of those main tourism city like Xi'an (yeah so the plan was to visit Xi'an during Qingming but I only realised the clash while trying to book the tickets so long story short, I'm keeping Xi'an for a future time).
The first stop is Fuzhou. The train ride from Shanghai to Fuzhou was along the East China Sea so for a couple of km (actually a few hundreds of km), I was just staring out into the vast expanse of the waters, which then morphed into swamps, then into agricultural fields, then into little villages by little streams, then into industrial cities, and finally into metropolises. I guess this is one of the pleasures of overland travel, that you get a sense of how far you are away from home when you see how the landscape slowly changes into something that you are unfamiliar with.
Given my short stay in Fuzhou city (half a day), I had to be clear what kind of trip it was going to be: museum hopping, window shopping, nature and hiking, or going on a food trail. The answer should be clear hehe. Having searched for a few recommended restaurants on the Dianping (点评) app, I was ready to feast like a king! After alighting from the train, I went straight to this place with good seafood beehoon, and I was instantly struck by how close the taste resembles the ones that I have back in Singapore! Then again, it shouldn't have come as a shock given that there were a large number of Fujian migrants who came to Singapore at the turn of the 20th century. What a pleasant surprise though, but there was simply not enough time for nostalgic reminiscence, and very quickly, I was at another shop popping piping hot siew mais stuffed with pork and bamboo shoots (I realise translating this into 'Chinese dumplings' is rather unhelpful because I could probably use the same translation for at least ten other Chinese dishes). Feeling rather bloated from the two carb-rich meals earlier, I found a nondescript dessert shop and I got yam paste and peanut soup - really delicious and really cheap (S$1 each)! However, the highlight of the day was the next one: Fuzhou fishball. Of course come Fuzhou must eat Fuzhou fishball right? Unlike the ones that we find in Singapore, the texture of the fishballs in Fuzhou is slightly tougher, and each bite gives a certain resistance. I believe this has something to do with the greater amount of and the type of fish paste used to achieve this texture. Similarly, both fishballs contain a meat filling in the centre which is always delightful! Having tasted the real deal, I never want to eat the ones back in Singapore again.
What happened next was a tragic story. So the plan was to check-in and rest at the youth hostel first before heading out to explore the night markets. I always believed that I am quite adaptable to varying standards of living conditions, especially having served two years of National Service where I have experienced much worst. There was only one word to describe this youth hostel: dank. From the slimey tiles in the bedroom which was also strewn with peanut shells, to a certain "smell of death" that lingered around the entire premise, I was certain that I would be unable to survive the night. Chucking aside these negative thoughts, I gave up resting in the room and just put down my bag and headed straight for the night markets.
The first stop was 三坊七巷 (3 lanes and 7 alleys), which took on an architectural style that survived since the Ming and Qing dynasties. As with most ancient towns in China, modern commercial businesses have crept into these areas to attract tourists with their unique wares, similar to how things were done centuries ago in the very same buildings. Having took some aesthetic photos around the locale, I then headed for 达明街美食街 (Daming Road food street) for more food and photos!
Anyway back to the youth hostel. I decided that there was no use complaining, and besides, it was at a good location and the owner was exceptionally thoughtful towards me, popping by every now and then to ensure that I had enough blankets and that I was comfortable enough, so this really made up for the abject living conditions!
But still, I didn't shower and just went to sleep straight away la HAHA.
Doggy sitting and chicken sitting in Anglesey!
Weekend 3rd-5th of March So I started off my weekend driving home from work as soon as I could. I arrived home about five and was pooped! I'm let Indie out and then made myself a little trail mix with pretzels, popcorn, cashews and dark chocolate chips. I took it upstairs and lay down in bed for a little bit and watched a couple of YouTube videos. I was half trying to nap after that and half trying to get the motivation to get up and clean the house. After all we were spending the weekend away in Anglesey and coming back late on Sunday so I wanted to be ready for school next week. Finally I got some motivation from somewhere... but only to run myself a hot bath! It had just turned six o'clock so there was a new episode of Saccone-Joly's. I watched that and relaxed in the bath and then lay down in bed again, wrapped in a towel until I was dry! From somewhere I managed to get the motivation to start cleaning. I packed a bag for the weekend first for Ben and I. Then I put a wash on, hoovered the house bottom to top, cleaned the bathroom, changed the bedding, wiped down my dressing table, side tables and the window sills and then went upstairs and wiped down the coffee table and fish tank table with my method lavender cleaner. I love the smell of it! I put the clothes on the dryer away and unloaded the washing machine and put it all out to dry. I put another load on and then unloaded the dishwasher, wiped down all the surfaces and the coffee machine, put the bin and recycling out and mopped all the floors. By the time I'd finished everything I had just enough time to make myself a coffee and sit down for a couple of minutes! It was perfect timing. Ben text me about twenty past ten saying he was nearly finished so I fed the fish, loaded up the car, turned off all the lights and locked up. Bear weekend was starting!!! I picked Ben up and we drove straight back to Anglesey. I was so drowsy on the drive. Ben was snoozing and I was hoping he would wake up and take over the driving! He did wake up eventually and offer to swap but then he fell asleep again where we said we'd switch and by the time he woke up we were nearly at Bangor so I just carried on. We arrived about half twelve. We the back door key under the sheep where mum said she'd leave it and let ourselves in. Rosie and Pip were so happy to see us! Yaya had left us a little note to say that she'd let the chickens out in the morning so we could have a lie in but I knew I'd wake up early anyway. We went up to bed, brushed our teeth and pretty much fell asleep straight away by 1am. On Saturday morning I woke up early at 6.30am like I thought I would. I had a pain in my sinus and felt uncomfortable so I went downstairs, took some painkillers and let the dogs out. I sat and watched Hailey Paige's latest vlog. She has mastitis which sounds so painful. At 7.30am I walked up to let the chickens out. Rosie and Indie came with me. They were so cute running after each other around the field. When I got back to the house I decided to vlog a little and then made myself a hot cup of coffee.
Case #2- Youtube's Most Mysterious Vlogger by JacobMielke
THIS IS NOT A JOKE PLEASE HELP
That was the subject line of the very first email my investigative service received. I have it saved to this day. In a way, that case shaped the years to come. It cemented that we weren’t just going to be having walk-throughs of haunted houses and going bigfoot hunting in the woods. There would be times when things became serious.
I started Mielke Investigations with my friend Moxxy in the summer of 2015. I was (and still am) a horror writer and I wanted to work more with nonfiction. Being an actual paranormal investigator allowed me to do that by enabling me to write my about my own experiences. Moxxy, a fan of my work who eventually became a friend, came up with the idea. After a terrifying first case where we investigated supernatural activity in a strip club (which you can read about here) I decided to make it official and had business cards printed for the newly minted Mielke Investigations. Moxxy had taken to distributing them to people who might be able to throw a case our way. Lo and behold, someone noticed.
From: (omittedemailaddress)@aol.com To: (omittedemailadress)@aol.com Subject: THIS IS NOT A JOKE PLEASE HELP
Hello,
I found your card at a bus stop today and I hope you can help me. Do you know who Opperyke is? He was a Youtuber I liked to watch. His channel was deleted last year.
I know you only focus on like ghosts and aliens and stuff so hear me out. My mom was having nightmares and one day she saw his picture on my computer and said “that’s him! That’s the man in my dreams!” The scary thing is I was having nightmares too! I’d be running through a maze and he would follow me. I would run and he would walk but somehow he was always right behind me. My mom used to have nightmares where she’d be at a pool watching me drown. Opperyke was the lifeguard and he’d never even try to save me. My mom doesn’t have those nightmares anymore but I still do sometimes.
I know it’s not much to go on but maybe you could look into it a little? Every time I think about him now I get scared. And my mom didn’t even watch him, how was she having nightmares about him? Am I just overthinking things and being a baby here?
Please help!
-Amy (Name omitted)
She was right, it wasn’t much to go on. Still, she was our only client (hah! As if we were getting paid) at the moment so I opened a new file on my computer: Case #2.
I wasn’t able to find too much that night on account of the channel being deleted before it could really take off. What information I had came from forum posts and the like. The Youtuber called Opperyke had a channel in 2013-2014 of minor success. His real name was Scott, though no one seemed to know his surname. He posted vlogs talking mostly about his life and thoughts. I was able to find a single screenshot of one of his videos off Google image search showing a video of about fifteen minutes in length and around 5,000 views. Opperyke was gesturing at the camera, his mouth open in mid-speech.
He looked normal to me, with his short brown hair, brown eyes, and thick rimmed glasses. His face was smooth as the day he was born and his shirt was a red sweater. And yet… as I studied him I started to feel most curious. There was something slightly off about his features, as if they weren’t sitting right on his face and the difference was minuscule enough that our minds weren’t registering it on a conscious level. Though he was smiling, his eyes looked… pained, maybe?
I decided to pursue it further and wrote a quick e-mail back to the client saying I’d look into it.
The next day I met up with Moxxy for coffee and broached the subject of Opperyke. I told about the client’s nightmares, what little information I’d been able to find, and I showed her the screenshot of him on my phone.
“Cool,” She said. “I’ve never heard of him but I’ll see what I can find out.”
A couple of days later she emailed me a link and instructions on how to view it. I had to download a browser called Tor and change a bunch of my settings. After two hours of frustration I followed the link to a hidden video sharing site, which I’m pretty sure gave my computer digital syphilis. The post was an Opperyke video entitled MY LAST. I moved my mouse cursor over the play button but before I could click it, footsteps ran at me from behind.
I whipped around in my chair, hands up to defend myself, but there was no one in the room. I chalked it up to the upstairs neighbors running through their apartment (a perfectly normal thing to do at one in the morning) and turned my attentions back to the video.
The picture quality was normal but the audio was distorted all to hell. Someone, either the person who posted it on this website of questionable legality or Opperyke himself, put subtitles in the video, so I was able to follow along. It started normally enough, Opperyke recounted the events of his day (he mowed his lawn and got a package from Amazon) and some of his sociopolitical views (he seemed to be a big fan of Mitt Romney and George Takei). Towards the end of the video, something finally caught my interest.
“So I have something to tell you guys. You’re not going to want to hear it but this has been a long time coming. For reasons I can’t disclose, I’m shutting down my Youtube channel.”
He smiled at the camera then and I couldn’t help but flinch. There was something sleazy about that smile. It was the kind of grin I imagine a heroin dealer would give to a pregnant mother right before selling her his product.
“For my closing thoughts, I want to talk about secrets. We all have them; anyone who says they don’t is a liar. Most secrets are harmless. They’re the secrets of the kid who stole the cookie or the husband who slept with his wife’s sister on their wedding night. But there are other secrets, secrets with power, secrets that haunt whoever learns them.”
He leaned in close to the camera so his face took up the entire screen. His features were hideous and I couldn’t imagine how I ever thought otherwise.
“Some of you know what I mean. Some of you know my secret.”
The video ended there and I let out a breath I didn’t realize I’d been holding. On the surface, there was nothing about this video that made it worth looking into for a paranormal investigator, even if it was creepy. But on the other hand, Opperyke gave me a strange feeling. I’d felt this before, many times stronger then, in the basement of the strip club Moxxy and I investigated. I don’t claim to be a psychic or anything, but… I don’t know. Maybe having experienced what I did gave me a sixth sense for these things. I download the video and saved it to my Case #2 folder, praying the entire time that it wouldn’t mess up my computer.
That night while I slept, I dreamed I was in a grocery store. The fruit and vegetables were rotten and had attracted flies and wasps. The deli display was filled with decaying meat and fish. Untold thousands of maggots writhed in the display. I went to the manager’s office to complain about the conditions (and the fact that there were no other employees on duty) but it was empty. I was alone in the store. A calendar on the wall of the manager’s office was open to July of 2013. The 11th day was circled.
“Do you want to know my secret?”
The voice behind me was as distorted as it was in the video. The only reason I understood the words were because they weren’t just behind me, they were inside me. A hand fell on my shoulder and an electric cold spread from the point of contact to the rest of my body.
I opened my eyes and watched a spider scurry across the ceiling. It paused briefly, as if it knew I was watching, then continued on its way. The first traces of light glowed blue through the window, not yet enough to illuminate the room. In the dark, a voice whispered next to my ear, not distorted at all this time, “Do you want to know my secret?”
Yes, Opperyke. I really do.
It took nearly a week of asking questions on forums and in Youtube comments sections before I made the next breakthrough.
July 11th, 2013. That was the day Opperyke uploaded his first video to Youtube.
I had no way of knowing that date the previous week and yet it and the man it relates to appeared in my dream. It was the final shred of proof I needed to confirm something supernatural was going on (could I have thought of a rational explanation given time? Probably, if I relied way too much on assumptions and coincidence).
I asked Moxxy to see if anything significant or strange happened on that date, since I’d reached the extent of my researching abilities. She assured me that she knew a guy who knew a guy.
And he must have been a good guy because I had my answer the very next day. Moxxy forwarded an email to me with an old article attached to it. On July 11, 2013, in the small town of Marietta, Ohio, a 24 year old college student named Scott Eric Cranston was murdered in his house while his parents were on a date. His throat had been slashed while he sat at his computer, recording a video. His senior picture was in the article. It was a good picture; the unsettling, creepy features I saw in his video were absent in the picture.
Opperyke was murdered the same day he recorded and uploaded his first Youtube video. Then he continued to make and upload more for two years after his death.
It wasn’t the first time I’d heard of ghosts continuing to do after death what they would have in life. Many a tale has been told of deceased old ladies tending to their gardens even in death or the spirits of dead parents watching and protecting their still-living children. But it was the first time I’d heard of a ghost vlogging. The internet has affected our world in such a huge way, I suppose it was only a matter of time before it affected the supernatural world as well.
I emailed my findings to the client, who I never heard from again. There were ways I could keep investigating and gathering data but my curiosity was sated for the time being. I saved all of my data in the Case #2 folder and decided to deem it “Closed”. I thought there was nothing more we could learn. I thought I knew Opperyke’s secret.
I thought wrong.
Case #2 will continue in an update. Follow my author page here to be notified when the next part is up.
What a fantastic week it has been, it has been real action packed as I also went to Legoland last weekend before heading to Edinburgh for three days this past Monday.
So I am no stranger to Edinburgh, I last visited the capital city of bonnie Scotland back in 2014 and before then visited a few times as a kid when I lived just up the road in the county of Fife. I hold some dear memories of these times from my childhood and going to Scotland always feels like going home for me, despite the fact I am not a true Scottish man. In a way though, I do have Scottish heritage as my mum is through and through Scottish and so is her side of the family, so I guess that is why I think of it as home.
Anyway, going off topic there, I visited Edinburgh this week with two good friends of mine, Hannah and Gill who I know from my college days. We still remain good friends to this day and we wanted to get a nice break somewhere to explore a city or place and get away from home. Edinburgh was suggested and because I always will hold a special place in my heart for the city I jumped at the chance to go with them.
We booked flights with EasyJet and also booked a self-catering apartment with two bedrooms in the heart of Edinburgh to stay in. The apartment was a steal and was a bargain, and what a bargain it was as the place was fantastic and we all wanted to call it our home and never leave. The two girls shared the bigger bedroom and I had a bedroom all to myself, along with a very swanky bathroom (with separate bath and shower units) as well as a huge living space with a kitchen in that space too. I was also very impressed with the Nest thermostat which controlled the temperature in the place, the tech nerd inside me was so excited by this!
  One of the bedrooms we stayed in.
On the 1st day, we took an early morning flight to Edinburgh from London Gatwick so that we could use a day up in Edinburgh to cram in more things to do. So, when we got there we took the tram to the centre of Edinburgh and found where our apartment was. We then dumped our suitcases and then headed to the city centre, to explore where we will be staying. We ended up walking up the steep hill to Edinburgh Castle (instead of taking the main road route – goodness knows why) and then paid the extortionate price of £16 to explore the castle. Believe me, as good as the place is, it is definitely not worth a £16 price tag. From there, we decided that we wanted to go on a ghost bus tour around the main sites of Edinburgh and it turned out to be so much fun, especially as my friend got very spooked in a graveyard we stopped at along the way. The ghost bus tour in Edinburgh was so much better than the one I went on in London last year and I would definitely recommend it. After being scared to our heart’s content, we found a bar which is disguised as a barber shop to have a couple of cocktails in. You even have to open a bookcase to get into it, talk about kooky!
Edinburgh Castle is so beautiful but pricey.
After a good nights sleep, it was time for day 2 in the city. We had a lot already booked and planned for this day already. We started off with a nice French breakfast before heading to the Edinburgh Dungeon. This was so much fun and also had a £16 price tag, but it was a price tag that felt like it had so much more value to it. The tour and the rides in the dungeons were so much fun and actually scary, we all had a great time in there. My friend (the same one who got spooked in the graveyard) got accused of being a witch and was about to be hung to death in one scene, but it was OK as of course this is only a tour and luckily we are not in the Middle Ages anymore. We did take the mick out of her for the rest of the day though and I bet she got annoyed with us constantly referring to her as a witch all day, oh well. We then had lunch and then went to a cat café where we had hot chocolate and tea whilst in the company of about 10 cats. They were all so cute and despite a few of them being tired and sleepy, it was great to pet them and have them come sit with you. I made one friend in the form of a sphinx cat called Elodie, who was so cute! Is it wrong that I wanted to try and sneak her out and take her home? The final thing of the day was to visit the Camera Obscura museum right next to Edinburgh Castle, what a great find this is. The place is full of illusions and interactive items that you take part in and it is so interesting as well as fun. I think the funniest thing was the feature that you could see yourself as a baby, a woman, a man, as an elder and also as a chimp. We all had a laugh at our portraits in this way, I actually think I would make a beautiful woman!
The sphinx cat called Elodie
On the third and final day, we didn’t really know what to do with ourselves, but it was weird as we kept walking around and finding unique and weird places to visit. The first of these was the Frankenstein bar and restaurant which is dedicated to all things to do with Frankenstein himself. Our holiday seemed to be horror themed really, as every day we had done things which were all a bit scary in one way or another. Whilst we were eating our lunch here, there was a show where Frankenstein gets up from his slumber and looks at you. Yeah, a bit worrying really as you’re eating your fish and chips. We also found a cool retro sweets shop and a retro dress store where we all dressed up in many costumes and hats throughout the course of history. The 70’s and 80’s dresses were pretty cool to see. We then made our slow approach back to Edinburgh airport where we waited to head home. These were sad times. I don’t think any of us wanted the trip to end as we had so much fun.
We found Greyfriars Bobby on our walk too!
So there you go, that was that really. Here are a few more pictures from our trip which I took with my fantastic Nikon camera. It’s all back to reality tomorrow for me though as I go back to work after a week off, what a week it has been though!
