@soulprofitis said: for fandaniel, truth + what do you miss most?
“Believing there is a purpose, of course.”   The reply is immediate, no feigned thinking here.   “That we aren’t just victims of our tragic souls. Alas, we are players who enter and exit a stage over and over again, doomed to repeat the same mistakes. Empires rise and fall and there is no pact to be made for prosperity.”   If even Xande could tumble from his spot on high, then of course everyone else would disappear in his wake, and Emet-Selch’s passing only made that more apparent. Fitting that His Radiance, he who fought so valiantly for stagnation, should be another step in the cycle Fandaniel has borne witness to for so long. Underneath the weight of his cloak, Fandaniel shrugs and smiles. The lifelessness in his eyes seems even more apparent than usual, no spots of light dipping into borrowed pupils.
“I do not expect anyone to understand the pain that I felt when I realized Azys Lla was my soul’s pitiful attempt at recreating Elpis. Or that even the Ixal were some pathetic re-rendering of that bird girl Hermes created.”   It had all but torn him apart / he had thought himself so clever with his new technology and shiny new toys / this will save Allag, surely this--! / but no -- there is nothing new under the sun. And the memories before that! A crimson soul destined to dream of islands in the sky and wings, no matter which form he took.
“This life is a twisted play. And while I have my answer after eons of searching, I must confess: there is a part of me that yearns to believe there is something else. I miss that naivete. But that was Hermes’s curse, and it shall not be mine. This world will not be made to suffer any more ignorant fools walking in circular paths! I shall make the world recognize this truth if it is the last thing I do.”   He pauses and a surprisingly lazy smile drifts over his face, eyes fixing on some point ahead / at first nothingness but then / the moon, always the moon.   “And, oh...after waiting for so long...I get to finally say goodbye to a sad legacy.”

I know I might have taken this masacre to my boi fish too personally but hear me out. Imagine this very scene but being narrated from the fish's point of view.
Hannibal: I find the trout to be a very Nietzschean fish. The Trout: Yep, that's me. You're probably wondering how I got into this situation …

big misconception but nbc hannibal isn’t about the extemporaneously quoting dante in medieval italian or “i find the trout to be a very nietzschean fish” or “killing must feel good to God, too, he does it all the time, and are we not created in his image” or any of that IT IS ABOUT “is your social worker in that horse” and most importantly it is about “i was listening to, uh, michael jackson yesterday and i burst into tears”

s2e8 opens with a very cute scene of Will and Jack hanging out and going ice fishing together, accompanied by a very silly on-the-nose metaphor about using lures to catch a fish, and how "you have to create a world in which only you and the fish exist." 🤔
Then we cut to Hannibal slicing up the fish. It's always kind of funny when he eats real food..... forgot he could do that. Then there's a dinner with Hannibal, Jack, and Will in which Hannibal and Will snipe at each other about Will suspecting Hannibal and in which Hannibal declares "I find the trout to be a very Nietzschean fish." Insane television show
