Metamorphosis Chapter 4
IMAGO
When Lance carried his bride over the threshold of their new home nearly a year later, Green flew for the first time. Pidge released her into the garden to be with Blue, and for a blissful moment the young newlyweds just marveled at the brilliant light that passed through the translucent jewel toned wings of the giant butterflies as they danced in the sky above.
“She’s beautiful,” Pidge remarked.
“Yeah, she is,” Lance replied, not looking up. He couldn’t stop gazing at the lovely young woman standing beside him.
“She was the last to transform. I wonder what took her so long.”
“She’s just a late bloomer, that’s all,” Lance said with gentle affection.
“Blue took even longer to emerge from his chrysalis,” Pidge continued. “I was worried that he would never find the motivation to break free.”
Lance slipped his arms around Pidge, who turned her full attention toward him at last.
“I think he was just waiting for her all this time,” Lance murmured softly as he tilted her chin up to brush his lips against hers.

“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”—Maya Angelou
“Metamorphosis” was originally written for the Whiskers Across the Galaxy fanzine, a project which evolved a bit over the last year or so. It was initially planned to be a printed charity fund raiser zine. Over a long period of time, the project became what is now a free digital download with a full color cover and illustrations. The stories and art are simply adorable, and I highly recommend you download the file to enjoy them all.
Here’s the link to this lovely FREE fanzine. If you follow any of the creators on Twitter, Tumblr, AO3, etc., and you enjoyed their work, please let them know. We all worked so hard on this project. 😊
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1I_1DFp7ip909zcxfCJGduHFtmgZUruWJ?usp=sharing
The link is also on Twitter at @Voltron_Pets if you prefer downloading it from there. Please give their promo posts a retweet.
The link is also on my Tumblr (quintessenceofdust73) if you want to download it and/or reblog my promo posts for the zine.
All of the contributors and mods on this project did a spectacular job and should be commended!

Notes:
The version of Metamorphosis that is published here on AO3 is longer than the fanzine version. I had to keep my story within a specified word limit for inclusion in the zine. The additional material I included with the AO3 version consists of chapter notes and the beautiful Maya Angelou quote at the end of the story. The quote was the inspiration for this bittersweet tale about maturing, loving, and mourning the death of a loved one who was gone far too soon.

♪ The Last Day of Summer With You
Vernon Chwe/Choi Hansol : Stargazing
Tumblr media
“Is this where you wanted to come?” Vernon asked, staring at the empty fields of seemingly endless green grass through the car window.
Night was approaching and you two arrived at this strange yet peaceful location right after sunset. On the way here, you insisted on driving, allowing Vernon to watch the passing sunset.
“What's with that tone? Do you not like it? Is it too basic for a last day of summer hangout?” You asked jokingly, getting out of the car.
Vernon quickly followed out while shaking his head. “No, I like that it's basic. The breeze is nice up here too.”
You looked over at Vernon with a smile, putting the car keys in your pocket. You knew that Vernon was quite simple, he preferred comfort over fancy and quiet over loud, so for the last day of August, you decided to take him to this place. It was a plains area with semi-tall grass and you were able to get a beautiful view of the mountains from here.
“This place is usually packed during the summer,” You said, walking to stand next to Vernon who was busy having his jaw dropped from the stunning scenery. “That's why I wanted to take you here at the end of summer so that it wouldn't be so crowded.”
“It sure is beautiful here,” Vernon said, turning to you with a thankful smile and his arms wide open. “Thank you so much for taking me here. You surely know me best, Y/N.”
You smiled shyly. Whenever your boyfriend said things like that, your heart would go crazy, jumping from joy. You didn't hesitate to walk into his arms and press the side of your face against his chest, your arms wrapping around his waist as his large hands patted your back.
“It's not just the valley that I want you to see. Wait until night falls, that's when the beauty of this place truly comes to life.”
“Oh really?” He replied, his nose sniffing the beautiful fragrance of your hair.
In his head, he was thinking that maybe this large field of grass had fireflies. However, he wanted it to be like a surprise, so he decided not to think about it anymore and instead, laid down against the grass with you. You took out your phone and began playing some music; a mix of sentimental and nostalgic songs you picked, along with some of Vernon's favorites.
“You really know how to set the mood,” Vernon said, chuckling at how perfectly the song fit the atmosphere. “But are we just going to lay here though?”
“My main purpose for taking you here was to talk with you. You know, like how we always talk before bed, or when we're watching a movie but get distracted by our conversations that begin in the middle.”
Vernon smiled. His arm was under your neck and you had your arms wrapped around his waist as you two cuddled in the grass field.
“I always appreciated that you listened to me. Even if I don't say anything, you always know how I feel,” Vernon giggled softly for a reason that you didn't know. “Is this what you call soulmates?”
You smiled. “I guess so. I have to thank you too, Vernon, for always being by my side. You proved to me that there is hope for me even in the darkness where I can't see anything. There were so many times where it seems like I fell in a pit and couldn't climb back out, yet, each time, it's like your hand reaches for me and pulls me up.”
Vernon nodded with an embarrassed smile. He caressed your hair and wanted to just close his eyes.
You both didn't know how much time went by. Whenever you two talked like this, you guys would always lose track of time. Your eyes were closed, your arms were holding each other, and your bodies were pressed comfortably together, against the grass that swayed in the passing wind.
The conversation went on for who knows how long, you and Vernon were just thanking each other for the dumbest things, tossing back and forth the words “no, I am more thankful for you”. Finally, you both decided to end that little battle with giggles.
“I love you,” You said softly, holding him a little tighter. “I love you so much, Vernon.”
“Me too.”
You laughed a little. “Can't you say ‘I love you, Y/N’ instead of saying ‘me too’?”
Vernon giggled and said, “Okay, I love you, Y/N.”
Satisfied, you gently opened your eyes.
The surprise was ready. You didn't expect Vernon to have his eyes closed like this, but in the end, it worked out well in your favor regarding the surprise. You had only closed your eyes in the first place because you saw Vernon doing it.
You sat up from the floor and patted his knee. “Look...”
Vernon opened his eyes and the first thing he saw was a long strand of grass stuck to your hair, so the first thing he did was pluck that piece of grass out.
You turned to him and did the same, ruffling his hair, allowing the particles of green to dust off. You smiled, cupping his face. “Now, look up.”
“Up?”
Vernon, with your hands still on his face, lifted his head to face the sky, being met with a starry night. Stars were glistening, twinkling, beautiful and white, spread out amongst the black sky, almost like a painting. The moon was round and beautiful as well. It looked like he was viewing the galaxy through pictures on Google, but instead, the galaxy was shining right down on him. Mixed with black, blue, and purple, the sky was art on its own.
Vernon's jaw dropped as your hands slipped away from his face. “Wow.”
You brought your knees to your chest and placed your palms together, in a praying motion. “Quick, make a wish!”
Vernon turned to you and smiled, copying your pose. Silence passed through as you both made a quiet wish, with only the crickets chirping.
“What did you wish for?” You asked, turning to Vernon who already had his eyes open, breaking the silence between you two.
“Simple things, just to be with you forever, have you stay healthy and happy... you know, just that kind of stuff,” Vernon said, scratching the back of his neck shyly. “What about you?”
You buried your face in your knees shyly. You two were definitely soulmates.
Vernon whined, scooting a bit closer to you. “Come on, tell me.”
“The same thing you wished for,” You replied, your voice muffled. “Instead, I wished to stay with YOU forever, and have YOU be healthy and happy.”
Vernon laughed. “Oh, seriously??”
You both laughed as you lifted your head. Vernon wrapped his arm around your shoulders, pulling you closer to him again.
You both stared up at the sky with smiles.
“The moon is beautiful, isn't it?” You said softly, staring at the moon. It was so round and bright, with the stars surrounding it, making it shine even more.
“Wonwoo told me that that phrase indirectly means ‘I love you’.”
“Well, I do love you,” You replied, pecking him on the cheek. Your hands were wrapped around your knees.
Vernon smiled. “I love you too.”
Vernon planted a kiss on your forehead and then turned to the sky again, gazing at the beautiful night sky. His hand rubbed your shoulder softly as your head laid gently on his shoulder.
There was a comfortable silence.
Under the galaxy-like sky, holding each other, you and Vernon beautifully ended this last summer night.

Ezra’s Journal Entries #1-3
Fandom: Prospect / Pedro Pascal
Pairing: Ezra x Female!Reader
Word Count: 1,269
Summary: You and I were made from the same star, you said with such conviction it stole the breath from my lungs, bound to each other for eternity by the Currents of the universe.
Warnings: angsty fluff, Ezra’s dealing with the aftermath of the Green, language, 1st person POV (Ezra), dialogue in italics because that’s just how I chose to do it, no beta so all mistakes are mine
Author Note: I know I said Death and Angel would come out next, but I got such a inspiration high and the words came out so quickly I just told myself screw it and decided to share what I have. If anyone thinks this is a series worth pursuing, let me know. If you don’t, well, just be gentle please 💖
Cross-posted on AO3
Entries #4-6
Look for additional notes at the bottom.
Tumblr media
My name is Ezra.
I have my mama to thank for that. Time has erased her face from my memory, but her voice is ingrained into the tissue of my brain the same way these words are inked on this parchment. She was a bonafide believer that the meaning of a child’s name influenced the course of their destiny. When I was no taller than the height of her waist I learned my own name’s denotation: help.
It’s just a tick too ironic, isn’t it? To be destined to help others when I can’t help my own self. I gave the Green far too little credit. It didn’t just pilfer my arm to satisfy its ravenousness, it greedily stole my sense of purpose too.
Every night I thank the deities you didn’t accompany me there. If the Green had taken you...
I know how worried you are about me, little love of mine. When I look at you, I find you already looking back, a sweet smile gracing your lips even as concern burns in your eyes as an eternal flame. From day one you’ve always been looking at me, seeing every disgraced flaw and scar—even the invisible ones carved into the darkest edges of my soul. Kevva knows I’ve never been capable of concealing anything from you, but fuck if I don’t wish I could sometimes.
You’re asleep now as I write this, tucked against my side in the vacant space my arm once occupied, drooling on my shirt. I love you so much it hurts. A black hole in my chest perpetually aching to be filled by your presence. And as we venture once more into the starry sea, our ship gliding past the imaginary wings of Noctua, I find myself recalling a theory you once told me many cycles ago about humans being made in the womb with stardust infused in their bones, linking them to the universe. You and I were made from the same star, you said with such conviction it stole the breath from my lungs, bound to each other for eternity by the Currents of the universe.
And it’s undoubtedly selfish, but all I could think of in that tender moment beyond kissing you was how I didn’t want an eternity spent together with our cosmic bodies intertwined.
I want longer.
Tumblr media
Soon after we awoke and each consumed a slice of bush bread bought during our recent docking at Kamrea, you fiddled with the channels on the ship’s radio, hoping to hear news from your homeworld but cursing when you only heard static. Then, without an ounce of forewarning, music burst out with an almighty scream through the speakers at full volume, flooding the whole compartment with a woman’s warbling. It was the same crusted Vayok song that merc Inumon blared in my ears during my last night on the Green, every note an individual needle piercing my skull, impossible to ignore.
Reality deserted me, leaving me to sink to the depths of the abyss within my mind where all I could see was Cee’s pale, disturbed expression as she looked to me for guidance. I remembered how my tongue felt clumsy in my mouth as I tried my damnedest to negotiate our transport, thinking if I could just piece together the right sequence of words, if I could just get their lingering eyes off of her, then maybe, maybe we’d have a chance at salvation.
The memories coalesced, overlapping and blurring and mixing out of order. Each one was drenched in spilt blood.
Then your pinky wrapped around mine. The touch was soft yet firm, the action childlike in its innocence. It was such a jarring contradiction to my mind’s violent narrative, my consciousness was hurtled back into the living quarters of our ship as a result. You didn’t say anything when you saw I returned to you. Instead, you swallowed down the questions lodged in your throat and led me by our entwined fingers back to our bed.
There’s a plant back home called a dandelion, you told me with my head resting in your lap, a far better comfort than any pillow could provide me. It’s the only plant in the galaxy you can see the sun, the moon and the stars when you look at it. That’s not why it’s my favorite though.
I asked how it had won your heart’s favor if not due to its resemblance to the celestial bodies, then immediately found myself mesmerized by the smile that lit up your face as you peered down at me. My chest cavity tightened as I was filled with the profound longing to be able to suspend time, if only so I could stretch this moment to match the length of our separation, if only so I could erase the old and replace it with the beautiful new.
Dandelions grant wishes, babe. Anything you wish for with your whole heart, it will be yours to have.
I told you I wouldn’t wish for anything—nothing else in the galaxy could compare to the prettiest, wisest soul I’d ever encountered in all my years traversing it. You saw right through that lie with the same confident ease you see through all my masks and diversions, but—for the second time in the span of an hour—you held your tongue.
This journal’s as good a place as any to admit the honest truth. So here it is: I wish with the entirety of my bloody, beating heart I could be the man you deserve, little love of mine.
Tumblr media
When you read, whether it be a book or the flight manual, you have the precious habit of mouthing the words. I don’t think you have the faintest notion you’re even doing it, which makes it all the more endearing to watch.
My brother had a similar habit, always nose deep in the yellowing pages of classic literature, except he had a proclivity to spoil the plot when he talked in his sleep. I remember there was one particular novel he returned to often, sometimes reading from beginning to end, other times seeking out specific segments he’d underlined in bold, black pen. It was a rather dreary tale about war and rivalry and the process of determining one’s own identity. I became so exasperated with my brother’s obsession I considered shredding it on more than one occasion, only to immediately hate myself for entertaining the thought.
It was only after his death—twelve whole cycles, in fact—that I summoned up the will to open the front cover. Seeing his name scribbled in the corner, cursive and neat and so utterly him, nearly had me tearing the book in half, overcome with a vicious rage I had never known prior nor have I encountered since. But by the almighty grace of Kevva I reigned it in, chaining it to the agony and fear imprisoned within the confines of my rib cage, and turned the page.
There was one segment underlined not once, but three times, nearly bleeding ink onto the page behind it. When I close my eyes, the words are tattooed on the backs of my eyelids, as haunting as they are comforting.
So the more things remained the same, the more they changed after all. Nothing endures. Not love, not a tree, not even a death by violence.
The author lived and died centuries before my brother’s inception, that is an inarguable fact.
But I know those words were written for him all the same.
Notes:
There is an actual theory humans are made of stardust ✨
The Sater within Prospect mention the Currents as being responsible for bringing Ezra and Cee to them, so I imagine them as similar to the Fates/Moirai in Greek mythology.
Noctua is a real life, extinct constellation that is Latin for owl. I thought within this Prospect universe it could exist as a type of landmark or coordinate. Plus I love owls 🦉
Crusted is a term from Prospect Ezra uses. Equivalent of damn. I think there’s something funny about how they use creamy as a positive adjective and crusted as negative.
Vayok is the alien language Inumon speaks within the movie, so I decided to write the song she blares as being sung in the same language
Bush bread is referenced in a deleted scene by Ezra, but a google search revealed to me it’s also a real life type of bread too
In the same deleted scene Ezra references that he has a brother. I haven’t decided his name yet/if he will have one
The book and quote Ezra refers to in #3 is John Knowles’ A Separate Peace. One of the few required reading books I liked back in high school.
The quote about dandelions being the sun, moon and stars is based on the legend of how dandelions came into existence. I always thought it was beautiful.

The BXG Starter Pack / Life of a BXG 🤍
Tumblr media
This is an expanded and updated version of a post I made before about things I have to live with as a BXG. it’s based on my experience and what I see, so what I write here may not be identical to yours. some of these may be applied to c-ent fandom in general.
• Using Apps and sites you don’t fully understand -
Tumblr media
Whether it’s Weibo or streaming sites like Tencent or Youku, it is where firsthand information comes from. Weibo to check the supertopic and the boys’ accounts daily. Even if you don’t get it all, give it time and you will find blogs that you wanna follow. Fan sites that you watch out for. Even with the language barrier, as long as it’s about GG/ Web, it doesn’t really matter. You get an understanding of what’s on it one way or another. Google translate is there, tho not always reliable. As time passes by, you will get the sense of what accounts to look at for unbiased translations.
I’ve been using Wb for quite some time and tho there is alot of information, you have to careful in what you take out and bring to international platforms. Even if alot of people are posting/sharing it, it doesn’t mean you have to.
• Spotting a BXG from a mile away with what they eat and wear -
Tumblr media
Being that person with the white nike bag and GG’s red bracelet. Wearing the signature gray/orange cardigan or the blue/white striped shirt. VLONE hoodie. Or drinking the Love drink. Eating 3+2 crackers and wonton. Using a black portable fan similar to what they used that summer. A cute Boxiao Keychain attached to your bag. All the little things will cue you on what fandom the person is from.
Even trying things you know they like. Coriander. Trying spicy hotpot even if you can’t tolerate anything spicy. Getting that green tea brewed and ready for you. lol. Becoming a fan of their favorites singers like Stefanie Sun and Li Ronghai. Just absorbing it all. You are what you love so it’s natural to check out the things they love.
• enjoying the creative content by the fandom -
Tumblr media
the amount of content generated by this fandom, from c-fans and international alike is astounding. you will never be bored. If the boys are quiet and it’s a slow day, you can always look at this. From FANART/ FANVID to FANFICTION. There is a lot. Some artists even have their own following. You have characters like Bobi and Zanbi becoming our favorites and gaining some popularity of their own. The fictional child Suo. All the BoXiao Cinematic Universe pairings. lol. ChenWei or Xie yun x All characters by GG. the possibilities are endless!
If you look at fan merch for BoXiao — you will cry. Everything is beautiful and you know it’s made with love by BXGs. It’s one of my absolute favorite things as a BXG, is to look at the art and buy if I can. 🤍
• normal things having a different meaning to you -
I mean this in a way that red and green does not equal to Christmas to you anymore. It’s now LGLR. It’s now a representation of GG/Web’s favorite colors. A pig? Oh that’s Bobo! A lion? A panther? That’s him too. How about a rabbit? That’s GG. Do you see the time? Let me interpret that into a Kadian that totally favors my CPN. Is it summer and the heat is sweltering? Oh. This must be what the summer of 2018 felt like for them.
• melting from all the cuteness -
Tumblr media
I’ve always liked cute things but this fandom just brings out so much cute art? And can we talk about the dolls? 🥲 I am especially fond of photos where they take the dolls to events. idk. Maybe it’s just me and I know this stuff is not for everyone but i think we can all agree that these gives you good vibes. 🤍 i know some of you prefer to collect standees and those are amazing too.
• enriching your “attention to detail” skills -
Tumblr media
The people in this fandom can be detectives with the things they pick up in photos and videos. Tho sometimes it can be overanalysis, I gotta hand it to them for going that far. for researching. The amount of galaxy brain. There are things you also immediately pick up because of the past candies you consumed. The jewelry. The clothes. What they say. The people around them. There are times you don’t even have to that much and it will click.
Accounts here and other ones that do analysis/candy posts can literally eat up your day. I remember lurking here very early on and losing alot of time checking bxg sites. 😂
• multi tasking like a pro -
This is happening more and more for the past months. Mid 2020 to now cause they have alot of projects going on. The hardest? When they have appearances in the same day — in different stations. Hello NYE show! Or even if they are in the same event, you have to keep up with the two of them.
There is never a dull moment cause sometimes one of them is quiet and one just dumps all content on us. It’s a common misconception from outsiders that all we care about is CPN and sexualizing GG/Web. lol. It’s not. You are basically stanning two separate people. Two of the hottest stars in CHN who have alot going on in their career. We do what so/os do basically, in terms of supporting them. Watching their shows. Posting and talking about what’s new with them and so on.
• having so much content you have to save alot -
all the photos. all the videos. all the content. There is just so many. How will your phone memory survive? lol. Do you all keep folders neatly organized or you just keep them all in one place? I personally keep a list of links and oftentimes save things that I feel like will be deleted at some point.
• knowing what you can post or not -
It’s something I have learned specifically with this fandom. It is a tough learning process and sometimes you are just so excited to share but you have to check first. If you find someone posting a possibly harmful information, you can tell them in a nice way. We are not some reporting cult out to get people. A simple message is enough.
I wanna add here having some background politically in what’s going on in CHN. Or what is the reason why some things are the way they are in C-ent fandoms. It’s not required ofcourse. But it’s very helpful. I started not caring at all but I find that it helps you in anticipating what will happen or why things happen.
• learning to be smart about things you read and what other people tell you -
This is not limited to fandom but life in general. I’ve talked about this in detail before but it bears repeating. It is hard to distinguish what is true and not in this space. You have the language barrier and antis to make things hard for you and it’s really tricky if you’re new. So ask, ask people in this space. You don’t have to believe us 100% but it’s never a good thing to just look at one source and run with it. Especially shady youtube and instagram accounts who also post drama leaks and videos of them leaving and entering their hotels. EVEN IF IT’S CPN CONTENT. You have to be careful.
• living a life outside of the fandom and taking a step back -
Tumblr media
Once in awhile this has to be done. Enjoy other things. You are allowed to have other fandoms and stuff that bring you joy outside of GG/Web. There is really no checklist of how to be a true fan. No one is in the position to tell you that you are not good enough as a fan. If you don’t like a particular piece they are doing because you are not comfortable with it’s theme — go ahead. You don’t like the song because the message is against your values — sure, don’t listen to it. These two always promote not being too caught up in your online life that you forget the real one. And it’s something I’ve always appreciated about them.
This also ties in with having to pick your battles and letting things go. You don’t have to engage in each and every person who is obviously just trying to get a reaction out of you. Block accounts who blatantly insult you. We are BXGs, if they don’t like the content— well, it’s not for them. We are not making it for them.
• meeting lots of cool people -
I won’t name people on here incase i miss someone but i genuinely interacted with cool people on here. It’s very easy to reach out to fellow bxg just to chat or if you have a question. It’s a good time! Or even if you don’t end up interacting cause that’s not your thing and you just want to lurk— that’s cool too.
I like looking at posts of people randomly seeing a bxg IRL and getting along because of shared interest. I have yet to meet one in real life.
• attending fandom events -
Tumblr media
This may not be your thing but I’m interested in events that fans organize. Especially c-fans. The amount of offline support they do for the boys look like so much fun but tbh i will not thrive in social situations so I will just observe from a distance. Seeing them attend events together and support the boys. The art exhibits. Meet ups. Literal BXG events to showcase fan merch and everything. It’s a whole world of it’s own.
C-BXGs just coming together for a good time and even charity work is really one that i love to post about and bring to my space.
• adding China to your must visit place -
Tumblr media
Before CQL and BoXiao, I didn’t even have China on my must visit place. Tho I love Taiwan and visited HK quite a few times for Disneyland, I didn’t actively add it on my list. Great wall of China? Sure. That would be cool, but I had other places in Asia I wanna visit or just go back to. BUT NOW. Oh now. I really wanna go to Chongqing and Luoyang. Go to Beijing. Go to Shanghai. Changsha. Visit and have a tour of Hengdian studios!😅
• buying endorsements - This is optional. I always say to support them if you can. Not everyone is a rich jiejie who can buy 850 copies of their magazine. Plus some live far away and costs to ship are so high. But it’s not a secret that a fan’s spending power matters in C-ent. and this is something that some of us have adapted. If it’s one you like and you can use, why not right?
The struggle of getting things before they sellout. Of hoping your packages don’t get lost and you won’t have to wait so long. Discovering new things to enjoy because they endorsed it. Consuming alot of yogurt. lol. 🙃
======
There is alot of going on in the life of a BXG, so we don’t have time to actively look at the negative and pick fights. It’s the good life we got going on. 🌈 I hope whoever is reading this will continue to have fun in this fandom. 🤍

Tenth Doctor x Reader
Tumblr media
(Y/N)'s POV
I sat on my bed waiting for my bad connection to just magically get better. The google meeting popped up and popped up with the, "Contact your system administrator for more information" screen again. I swear the hardest thing so far has been not getting a good enough internet connection. I groaned in frustration for the hundredth time this morning. The sounds of London's busy street sounded in the distance, the sound of cabbies being hauled coming from outside my window was less than distant though. My neighbor shot bullets at the wall earlier this morning causing me to wake up, but I think he went out on a case a while ago as it's too quiet in his flat. Ahh, the sounds of Baker Street never get old.
I live in a flat with my mother and brother, who are some of the hardest people to talk to I swear. I slammed my computer shut. I gripped locks of my hair and pulled, not too hard but just enough to let my stress out. My breath caught in my throat as I heard a noise. A noise that only a few words can describe. The first one to pop into my head is, 'whooping' but maybe 'mysterious' could work too. I looked to where the noise was coming from. My hands still tangled in my hair.
In the corner of my room, through my fingers, I saw a blue box that said 'police public call box'. It was one that I only saw in a television show I watched as a kid. TARDIS I think it was called. A time machine that could also take you anywhere in the universe. And, if im correct, this box comes with a man inside. Upon remembering my fascinations with this man and box, I leaped into the air and off my bed, causing me to hit the floor with a thud.
My feet captured within my covers. I Quickly untangle myself and stumbled across the floorboards. I stood up straight and dusted myself off as I stood in front of the tardis blue doors. I pushed on them, I was half expecting them to be locked. Once opened, I looked inside with amazement, It looked different than what I remember. I saw a man in the center, at the control panel. I stepped in, and as soon as I did the TARDIS started to shake. I fell to the ground, and I fell hard.
"Finally!" a shout from the man came. I shakingly pushed myself up. I stood up leaning against the railing.
"Huh, so it is real." the astonishment got more and more prominent toward the end of the sentence. The man quickly turned around. I let go of the railing and continued looking at the scenery.
"What are you doing in here?!"
"What were you doing in my room?" I questioned and started walking to the middle, where the man of my fantasies stood.
"It was an accident."
"Then me being here is also an accident," I stated. My hand guiding on the rail around the console.
"Don't touch anything!" he shouted as he ran up to me and moved me to sit on the companion seat.
"I'm tacking you back home."
"No!" I shouted, "There's still so many things I need to see, doctor!" I pleaded while I landed on the holey ground. This has been my dream from when I was a kid, and there was no way an 800-year-old alien was gonna take that away from me.
"How do you know my name?" he asked, getting his screwdriver out from the inside pocket in his suit coat.
"Oh please, it's not your name it's your title. And I know that because you're on the telly sometimes. Though I don't know which generation you are." I spoke knowingly yet curious.
"Tenth, im taking you home." "But-"
"Now." his stern voice roared (RAWR X3 nuzzles pounces on you UwU you're so warm) and his stern face glared in my direction. I slumped back into the companion's seat with a torn look sketched onto my face. I hear him click and bang a couple of things before resting one hand on the panel and the other lost within his locks.
"So does that mean I can stay?" I asked hopefully.
"Absolutely not. once I get her fixed, you're going back where you came from," he said while grabbing a red toolbox from the ground and walking to the other side of the shining teal pillar, and hopping through the rails. I bounced up off the chair and to the doors. "Don't you open those doors!" he shouted.
of course, I didn't listen, I mean why would I? this is a once in a lifetime experience. I swung the doors open and saw a scene that I couldn't put into words. but I'll try. the ground was a reddish-orange colour and the sky a bright green with a red sun-like object resting over the horizon. the terrain was mountainous. in the distance, I saw something that looked like a village. I closed the doors behind me and ran. it was a good minute or two before I reached where the village was.
the streets were decorated in star-designed banners and were crowded with aliens of different species buying things that went along with the star/space theme. I continued to squeeze my way through the people. I saw a line leading to a stadium. wanting to know what was in there I quickly joined. the wait wasn't nearly as long as the line so I got in pretty quick.
I took a seat and saw the sky had changed into a dark purple. I saw billions of stars, hundreds of galaxies, and so many nebulas I couldn't count them. my jaw dropped at the most beautiful sight.
"There you are, I told you-" I looked at the voice and saw the doctor. I knew that he was going to be mad at me but I was too happy to care. "Why are you crying?" he asked, taking a seat next to me. my head tilted as I moved my hand up to my face, and sure enough, I felt tears.
"I'm just so happy I guess," I said with a closed-eyed smile. I looked back up to the stars, ever since I was a kid all I wanted to do was travel the stars before my dad died whenever there was a meteor shower or the milky way could be seen or even when you could see the planets in the night sky, we would always go to the middle of nowhere and camp to see the stars in all of there glory.
"They're just stars." I heard the doctor say, in the corner of my eye I could see him staring up at them too.
"They may be stars to you but to me, this is my childhood dream come true." I said with a large smile. " you know how I said you would be on a show in the telly? I would stay awake all night dreaming of the day that you would pop up in my room and id run away from my life and see the stars with you. that's why I didn't want to go back home." I looked at him through teary eyes, "I just wanted to see the stars and galaxies and all of the nebulas up close. to travel the stars just like my dad wanted." I smiled so wide while tears streamed down my face fast and into my mouth. he looked at me and gave me a one-armed hug, pulling me close to him.
we stayed like that for hours, watching the stars. he pointed at them and told me the name and stories of each one, along with the planets beyond them. I fell asleep on his shoulder and woke up in one of the rooms in the TARDIS. I was surprised that I was even there still. I was sure that he would have brought me home by now.
I got up from the bed and quickly put on my shoes, and walked out to the console room.
"Oh! Good you're up!" he jumped up and down, "So where to now! I heard that the planet Hat-P-7b is in rain season this time of year, oh or we could even go to J1407b, they have amazing crapes, though they don't call it crapes..." he went on and on about the planets we could go to. to say the least, I was happy. too happy that I was scared it was a dream. "So, where to?" he asked, leaning forward waiting for my answer.
"Somewhere amazing," I said with a smile, excited for the adventures that I was going to have with this man.

What are your five (approximately five that is, it doesn't need to be exactly five of course) favorite google image results that come up when you search "marbles" Or a search term of your choice if you have something in mind? [Technically that's still a question, probably ;P]
Cheers, mate!
_Death
Oh, this sounds fun. Marbles are cool to look at. I found six of them.
Tumblr media
I can almost feel and hear what it's like to hold and jiggle these marbles around in my hands. It is a satisfying feeling.
Tumblr media
These are cool looking. Like tiny waves trapped in a tiny time orb.
Tumblr media
A love shade of green and it has bubbles! Like one of those science tubes with the green liquid or a pond in lush green forest. 'Tis beautiful.
Tumblr media
It's shiny. I needn't say more.
Tumblr media
That galaxy marble I showed you before. It's pretty and I must show it again. I love space themes.
Tumblr media
Speaking of space themes, here are more space marbles that I love.
In conclusion: marbles are pretty. There was also an image of glow in the dark marble that I liked but didn't know if the file format for it would work here. But here's a link for our honorable mention! https://www.amazon.com/Marbles-Glow-Drak-Glass-Marble/dp/B08NGJZGFJ/ref=asc_df_B08NGJZGFJ/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=475788660934&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11259984373985785417&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9013138&hvtargid=pla-1089716823279&psc=1

Tumblr media
Words: 2.9k
Pairing: Onew x Winnie (OC) (feat. Amber Liu, Monsta X’s Joohoney, and ROMEO’s Minsung)
Raiting: PG
Genre: Fluff, angst
Warnings: intense in some scenes, some peril
Summary: Since being home from the military, Lee Jinki is over the moon to be home with his wife Winnie and son Owen. They grew closer together, but Jinki can’t help but feel as if he failed as a husband and father by being away from his little family for so long and not connecting with his son as he would wish. On Christmas Eve, he’ll take a journey to a place he knew only in legends and maybe learn something from St. Nicholas. Inspired by the film The Polar Express.

December 24, 2020
“But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight— ‘Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night,’” Winnie finished the story.
“Read it again, Mommy,” the four-year-old boy begged.
“But if I read it again, Santa might not come,” his mother warned in a gentle voice. “All of those cookies we made for him will go to waste, and you decorated them so beautifully.”
“Even the ones with lots of icing?”
“Those are his favorites.”
“Okay, Mommy,” the boy sighed.
Winnie chuckled. “Sweet dreams, baby.”
Jinki watched as the light in his son’s room was switched off, and his wife’s footsteps were heard trudging down the hallway towards his and her bedroom.
Earlier that evening, Jinki and Winnie had gotten into an argument. Ever since he had returned from military service back in July, he felt he had missed out on much of his son’s life. He wasn’t feeling as connected with him as he used to be. Winnie argued that Owen always wanted to be with his dad, and now that he’s home all Owen wants to do is spend time playing with him. The ordeal led them in a heated argument, which led to each of them saying hurtful words to each other. Jinki hated himself for it, so he decided to sleep on the couch in the living room for the night in order for the two of them to cool off until morning. Seeing Winnie cry killed Jinki inside. She was four and a half years younger than him, but he always wanted to be gentle with her feelings, especially now that she was pregnant with number two. He wanted to run up there, snuggle her, and rub and kiss her swollen belly; but the last thing he wanted to do was make his beloved wife upset.
After a glass of water, Jinki tiptoed upstairs to check on his little boy. Peaking into his bedroom, the child was fast asleep while snuggling his fox plushie. The only light in his room was his galaxy projector giving a green light show. Once he shut the door as quietly as possible, his foot carried him towards his and Winnie’s room; but something told him not to go in. Was it guilt? A sixth sense? Was something going to happen? He wasn’t sure, but he listened to his gut and returned to his self-made couch bed.
Jinki then turned off the kitchen light after refilling his cup and headed back to the couch. Gently, he set his drink on the cork coaster and rested his head on his pillow. However, he still had to get up in the morning to set out Owen’s gifts from “Santa,” so he set an alarm for 7:45AM before lying down again.
Silence and darkness engulfed the house, the ticking of the grandfather clock near the TV, its hands reading 10:20, was the only noise that broke the dreary silence. Moonlight shone through the windows as snow fell, the Lee’s Christmas tree illuminated by the silver glow. As Jinki closed his eyes, the ticking seemed to grow louder and louder as he drifted. It was only after a few seconds, the ticking stopped at the sound of sleigh bells in the distance, and it was silent again.
When he opened his eyes again, Jinki looked at the clock.
11:55.
How did the time fly so fast? Jinki wondered. He figured it was only because he was going in and out of sleep.
A ripple in his water cup caught his attention. Then, the family pictures began to rattle, and the Christmas tree began to dance a little. Jinki could feel his whole house begin to shake nearly violently. Earthquake, he thought. As he was about to jump out of bed to get his wife and child to safety an old train whistle blew loudly. Through the living room windows, pale-yellow light illuminated the living room, and Jinki could hear a train chugging by. What was going on?
In a haste, Jinki grabbed his military coat from the coat closet, ripping the garment in the pocket as it got caught on the door handle. He slipped on his black boots and dashed outside into the cold night air. In front of him was an old, black locomotive stopped in front of his home. It wasn’t a subway train that he was used to seeing, but a steam powered train that he had only seen at museums and read about in school. Stretched across two cars, gold lettering read “POLAR EXPRESS.”
Just as he moved to check it out, a man’s voice called out, “All aboard! All aboard!”
Jinki turned around to see the owner of that voice standing by an entrance on one of the train cars. As he marched through snow closer, he noticed the man carried an electric lantern, wore a dark blue suit with a hat that said “CONDUCTOR” on gold lettering, square-framed glasses, and a dark brown mustache sat perched on his top lip.
“Well, you comin’?” the man, now identified as the conductor, spoke after a few seconds of silence.
“Where?” Jinki shrugged.
“Why to the North Pole, of course!” The conductor near-shouted as if he should have known ahead of time. He then motioned to the train. “This is the Polar Express.”
“The North Pole?”
The conductor made a “tsk” sound, and gave a curt nod. “I see. Hold this, please.”
He handed Jinki the lantern to hold before pulling out a clipboard from inside the car. He turned it around and asked, “Is this you?”
It was a profile of Jinki with all of his statuses including marital, parental, and career.
“Yeah,” he confirmed.
“Well,” the conductor looked at the profile, “it says here that you’ve had doubts this year, are lacking a sort of confidence, and even got into an argument with your wife this evening. Sounds to me like this is your crucial year. If I were you, I would think about climbing on board.”
Jinki couldn’t believe what he was hearing. A train shows up in his neighborhood, no one else seems to notice nor care about the ruckus noise of the whistle, and now he’s told the train is going to the legendary North Pole. It existed, of course, but the aspect of Santa’s North Pole was just a legend. That’s what he knew. It was too much to wrap his head around, so he shook his head and backed away.
“Suit yourself,” the conductor shrugged as he took the lantern back. Once he stepped onto the car, he waved his source of light, and the train whistled in response. The train lurched forward and began to chug away. Jinki’s mind began to race as he thought about why the train showed up in the first place. It must have been a sign for something, and he had that gut feeling earlier telling him to wait down in the living room. This train had to arrive for whatever reason, so with a change of mind, Jinki jumped on before the locomotive could pick up speed.
Looking out into his neighborhood, he passed his house, and he silently promised to return in a while.
Jinki didn’t notice the conductor standing behind him until he cleared his throat. He turned around and saw the conductor holding the compartment door open for him. When he entered, the interior of the car was stunning. Beautiful red moquette covered the seats, the floor carpet was a dark green with a holly print on it, a light colored wood framed the entire compartment, and large windows were wiped crystal clear with the exception of ice leaving their thumbprints on the outside.
There were already a few passengers inside. Most of them were people who didn’t know, but there were a few idols he recognized or was familiar with: Yoohyeon from DREAMCATCHER, Moonbin from ASTRO, San from ATEEZ, Red Velvet’s Yeri, and even Yanan of PENTAGON. They were all joking around or speaking with the other passengers, but he wasn’t sure why they were on the train in the first place.
Jinki just took the first seat he saw. The seat was comfy, at least.
“Onew?” a woman’s voice sounded from his left.
Turning his head, he found his former labelmate Amber sitting across the aisle from him. Her hair was still in its iconic short cut but dyed a velvet red, and she was dressed in a sweater and comfortable, heather grey pants. Her tattoo sleeve peaked from beneath the long sleeves every now and then.
“What are you doing here?” he asked, sitting up a bit straighter.
“I should be asking you the same thing.”
“Did the train just show up at your house?”
“Yep. As it did everyone else here.”
“Do you know what kind of train this is?” another voice chimed in. Joohoney of Monsta X was sitting in front of him.
“A magic train?” Amber replied sarcastically.
“I know it’s a magic train. Actually, it’s a Baldwin 2-8-4 S3-class steam locomotive, but in 1931 at Baldwin Locomotive Works.”
Someone’s been doing a lot of Googling, Jinki thought.
He leaned in towards Amber and asked her, “Are we really going to the North Pole?”
Amber nodded. “I didn’t believe it either, but trust me, the conductor has been telling the truth.”
“Tickets, please!” the conductor announced.
Everyone scrambled back to their seats as he began to check for tickets. Jinki was the first person he came to and asked for his ticket, but he shook his head. He wasn’t informed of any tickets beforehand.
“Try your pocket,” instructed the conductor.
Jinki checked his right pocket, but it was empty with the tear from earlier. It was about two fingers wide, and he would have to fix it soon.
“Try your other pocket.”
When he inspected it, the feeling of something paperlike caught him by surprise. Pulling it out, he was holding a shining, golden ticket that had a picture of the train on the front. The ticket was about the size of a football, and the gold reflected the light at every angle. Jinki had never seen anything like it.
Still stunned, he handed it to the conductor, who snatched it up with a thank you. Using a hole punch, he began making holes in the ticket at such a rapid pace Jinki thought it was automatic at one point.
The conductor gave him back the ticket before thanking him and moving on to the next passenger. Jinki’s ticket had the letters “H” and “R” punched into it. What kind of train was this?
“That guy sure likes to show off with his ticket punch,” Joohoney scoffed as he held up his ticket. “Look what that wise guy punched in my ticket. ‘L’ ‘E.’ What the heck does that mean?”
The conductor made an announcement over a PA system, stating the train would be making another stop at an address.
“We’re heading for the other side of the tracks,” Joohoney whispered to someone.
Jinki rolled down his window to see what was happening. The train had stopped at a beautiful white house that was two stories high. It was decorated for the holidays with a wreath hanging on the door and multicolored lights wrapped around two columns. A small snowman in a purple bonnet seemed to greet the train, and the front porch was covered in snow. Through a large window on the first floor, Jinki could make out a Christmas tree that was illuminated by white lights.
The conductor stepped off the train to greet a tall, young man standing outside and dressed in warm pajamas and a black robe and slippers.
“It’s just another pickup,” Joohoney said before turning to Jinki. “That’s weird. I thought you were supposed to be the last one.”
Jinki was paying attention to the scene outside. The conductor gave him the same speech to the young man about where the train was going and all, but just like Jinki, the young man got cold feet and backed away.
“Suit yourself,” said the conductor. He hopped back onto a car and waved his lantern. The train whistled and began to chug, the center of gravity forcing the passengers back a little.
As the locomotive passed the man, Jinki seemed to recognize who he was as they got closer. He had jet black hair, idol-like features, and was about five feet and eleven inches tall. His dark eyes looked up at Jinki, and the older man gave a small wave.
Minsung, it clicked in his mind. Minsung of ROMEO. Minho had appeared in one of their music videos a few years back, so that’s where he remembered him from. He looked the same, but a tad bit older.
To Jinki’s surprise, the young man began to run after the train. However, despite Minsung’s long legs he was lagging to catch up to the train. The snow was making it difficult for him, and it didn’t help that the train was beginning to pick up speed.
“We have to stop the train,” Jinki concluded as he pulled himself back into the compartment.
“I don’t know how to stop a train,” Amber panicked.
“Pull the emergency break!” Joohoney pointed to a red, stirrup shaped object hanging in a cylindrical cavity in the wall.
Without a second thought, JInki rushed over and ranked on it with both hands. Almost immediately, the train halted to stop, but the force pushed the passengers over. Jinki, Amber, and Joohoney all were thrown to the floor, the wind being knocked out of the older man for a few seconds.
Once he caught his breath, he stood up again. Minsung’s head appeared on the other side of the car door’s round window. He looked in at everyone else, but turned the other way to enter the caboose. Jinki concluded he was just shy. Jinki was about to go invite him to the other car when another door slammed open.
“WHO IN THE BLAZES APPLIED THAT EMERGENCY BREAK?!?!” the conductor screamed.
“He did,” Joohoney tattled as he pointed to Jinki.
“You.” -The conductor furiously marched towards him- “In case you didn’t know, that cord if for emergency purposes only!” -he moved over to the open window to signal to the driver of the train- “And in case you weren’t aware, tonight is Christmas Eve. And in case you hadn’t noticed, this train is on a very tight schedule.”
The train whistled as the conductor got close to Jinki’s face.
“Now, Mr. Lee,” he lowered his voice. “Christmas might not be important to some people, but it is very important to the rest of us!”
Jinki tried to explain, but Amber stepped to defend him. “He was just trying to stop the train so that guy could get on!” she raised her voice.
The conductor looked out to where she was pointing and saw Minsung taking a seat in the caboose. “I see. Mr. Lee, is that what happened?”
Jinki nodded quickly.
Smacking his lips, the conductor calmed down, and told them, “Let me remind you, we are on a very tight schedule” -he checked his golden pocket watch and nearly had a heart attack- “And I’ve never been late before! And I am certainly not going to be late tonight.” He then rushed to the front door of the car and instructed everyone to return to their seats.
The Polar Express began to move again. Picking up the microphone for the PA system, the conductor announced, “Your attention, please. Are there any Polar Express passengers in need of refreshment?”
Everyone who was a passenger shot their hands in the air. The conductor slid the door open, and about eight waiters dressed in black vests and pants with white clothes wrapped around their midsections came tap dancing into the car. Music started to play as every other seat was turned towards the ones behind them, creating a sort of booth with at least three or four passengers sitting together. As the waiters and conductor sang about hot chocolate, the white clothes were tossed into each booth and made a sort of floating table. A few chefs entered on a trolley cart and began to toss out cups and saucers to each waiters’ tray. Jinki was surprised none of the dishes shattered upon impact despite being made of porcelain.
Some more chefs entered with a giant, bronze pot that was steaming with some boiling substance in it. A lever was pulled, and shots of the burning brown liquid landed in each cup. The beverage was then passed to each passenger, and as soon as Jinki tasted his, he couldn’t believe how delectable it was. He wished his son was there to try it as well, but he hoped to try to find something similar to make for him.
As soon as everyone was finished with their first round, they were giving a second cup as the waiters gave a gymnastic type performance. Then, once everything was picked up, the waiters jumped onto the tables, pulled the clothes as they back flipped back into the aisle, and then tap danced back out of the car as the seats were turned back into their original positions.

Name: If you know it, you know it. If not, you’ve probably got no shortage of things to call me anyway.
Gender: *siiiiiigh* Goddammit, I’m tired. Potted version: Two of us in here, one woman, one agender using he/him pronouns, and the whole combined entity uses they/them and goes “enh, I guess” to the idea of “demi-woman” as a gender.
Star sign: Sagittarius. Or Ophiuchus, if we’re doing the sidereal thing, which I have a certain affection for because of who it pisses off.
Height: 5'4″/163 cm
Time: 10:41 PM US Eastern Daylight Time as I type this.
Birthdays: ...do people other than my mom have more than one? Anyway, it was a few months ago.
Favorite band(s): Are we doing this again? Anyway, I’ve recently looked back in on Triakel, Garmarna, and Hedningarna, who’ve been quite active while I was gone.
Favorite solo artist(s): Similarly with Kepa Junkera, who seems to average releasing/guesting on three albums a year. The last I’d checked in on him was in 2008 when Etxea dropped, and it took me about four days to listen to everything he’s put out since then. That’s a lot of accordion. (My dad rather liked him, even if he did have a habit of ‘humorously’ mispronouncing his name as “Creepy Junkie”, and I couldn’t help but think he would’ve liked some of the new material—one of the few occasions where I’ve felt anything other than relief that he’s gone.)
Song stuck in my head: Bok-Espok by Kepa Junkera, which he seems to reprise every other album. Which means I’ve heard it many, many times this week.
Last movie I watched: None recently, no.
Last show I watched Last game I played: I don’t watch TV, so let me hijack this question like I usually do. I’m currently partway through the When Twilight Strikes demo, and while I’m thiiiiiis close to offering my services as a local consultant for the NYC stuff and found the “exotic beauty” kind of tone to Blane’s initial description somewhat uncomfortable, it’s otherwise been great fun, and I’m looking forward to future updates.
When did I create this blog: 2013. April, if I’m not mistaken.
When I post: Post post? Not often, it’s just about wall-to-wall reblogs around here.
Last thing googled: "shaped like a friend”, because I was curious about how long ago that phrase was coined. The Internet was unhelpful on the matter.
Other blogs: Nope! I’ve been Team Let It All Hang Out since day 1.
Do I get asks: Sometimes, usually when I’ve posted an ask meme.
Why I chose my URL: Paul Celan, “Die hellen/Steine” (The bright/Stones) Celan’s good, you ought to read him. Depressing, mind.
Followers: 324, which IIRC is more than double what I had a year ago. Dragon Age fandom is probably responsible for quite a lot of the increase. I can only imagine what the people who followed me for my DA diaries think of me now!
Average hours of sleep: 6-7. A bit more when I’m not waking up early for work, but not by much.
Lucky number: 7, I’m boring.
Instruments: Not anymore. Somewhere among the infinite possibilities of the multiverse is a timeline where I’m not cursed with cloth ears, tiny fingers, and bullshit lung capacity and was able to get reasonably good at something. Maybe an instrument, maybe singing. I liked singing.
What I’m wearing: My black pajama pants again, this time with a galaxy-print T-shirt in ace flag colors. (I needed some purple shirts to go with the purple skirts in my summer wardrobe, and I was like, “I know what’s purple!”)
Dream trip: No. I’m done.
Favorite food: All of them, leave me alone. OK, not all of them, I’m actually kind of picky and a lot of fruits and vegetables that I used to like now make me violently sick, but you get the idea. I do make a point of ordering mofongo on special occasions (and Election Day), though. Good stuff.
Nationality: American. Mom thinks I might be eligible for a Greek passport, but I’m not so sure, especially since she was naturalized here years before I was born.
Favorite song: You know I’m not going to give this an actual answer, but here, have a song: Stina by Triakel, which I haven’t found an English translation of but is definitely catchy as hell.
Last book I read: Currently about halfway through Arkady Martine’s A Desolation Called Peace. What an incredible book, she’s somehow gotten even better at writing since the first one. In particular, I’m going to be shoving it in the face of anyone writing about a child being raised for rulership, like a crown prince in a monarchy—the characterization of Imperial Associate Eight Antidote (bright, socially and politically aware, and eleven goddamn years old someone please hug this child what are you doing to him) is one of the highlights of the whole thing so far.
Top 3 fictional universes i’d like to live in: Oof. Teixcalaan might not be so terrible, if I were Teixcalaanli of reasonably comfortable socioeconomic status. (Oh, stop, no way in hell was I the only one idly wondering what I might use as a Teixcalaanli name by halfway through the first book—how’s Fourteen Reflection sound?) I’m starting to feel like the Star Wars universe would be a lateral move, and if I can petition to specifically be plopped into an Alexander Freed novel, at least my self-destructive tendencies will be beautifully rendered in graceful prose. And in the universe of AJ Hackwith’s The Library of the Unwritten, I’d be curious to see what my hypothetical creations would look like (though creators aren’t supposed to see them, at least not while alive).
Favorite color: Burgundy? Purple? Silver? White? Black? I’ve got a few. Basically, if it’s not green or orange, I’m probably OK with it.

Could I please request 18 from the list? I would love for it to be with thirteen (:
18. “I know it’s like 2 in the morning, but come outside.”
just a short one today, and sorry if there are any mistakes.
You should google starburst galaxies, they’re so beautiful! - - -
“Hey!”
The sound of words whispered throughout your dream, incoherent and jumbled.
You looked around you as your dream changed in front of your eyes. The green grass you were once walking on had turned to water, the depths of it pulling you in and surrounding all your senses.
You swam effortlessly through the clear ocean, your webbed fingers allowing you to push through. Multicoloured fish danced around you, your long and scaly tail creating waves behind you as it shimmered under the sunlight like iridescent pearls.
Your hands lightly grazed the corals on the ocean floor, feeling their rough texture in contrast to your soft skin. You soared through the water, your tail acting as a propeller, catching glimpses of crabs fighting for each other’s territory, schools of silver fish darting about in seemingly random directions and small turtles blowing bubbles near the surface.
“Hey, wake up!”
The dream changed again. This time you found yourself in the middle of an unstable bridge, the erupting volcano beside it making it swing violently back and forth.
You held on tight and tried to brace yourself as best you could, looking in all directions to find the easiest, and hopefully the safest, way out.
Liquid fire ejected from the top of the volcano, burning so bright above you, it hurt your eyes to look at. It slipped down the rocky edge towards you at an alarming speed and the panic in your chest became almost too much to bear.
“Wake up!”
You shot straight up from your sleeping position, confused. “What?”
The Doctor, crouching down beside your bed, offered an apologetic smile. “Sorry. I know it’s like 2 in the morning, but come outside.”
“What?” You repeated, your mind fuzzy and your eyes half closed.
The Doctor giggled quietly and took your hand to help you up. “Just come and see.”
With the help of the timelord, you eventually managed to tear yourself out of bed and put on a long and cosy robe you had been handed. She held your hand the entire way to the console room, where she stopped and grinned, pointing to the open door of the TARDIS.
You gave her a look of confusion, but silently walked towards the doors anyway. The view of space came into your line of vision and you gasped, your eyes widening at the sight.
An enormous galaxy of pinks, purples and blues swirled in what felt like touching distance away. Bright golden light shone from the middle of it, scattering twinkling lights across the sky. It seemed to glow so brilliantly against the sheer darkness of space behind it, colours so vivid and heartwarming, almost hypnotic.
“What is it?” You asked, breathlessly.
The Doctor came to stand next to you, holding you around the waist so you wouldn’t fall out in your mesmerised state.
“It’s a Starburst Galaxy. It’s creating stars, at a much faster rate than other galaxies…” She continued explaining the definition of what you were looking at, using technical words and names you didn’t know.
“It’s beautiful.”
The Doctor stopped rambling and looked at you, smiling almost as bright as the phenomenon just outside the door. “Sure is.”
With great difficulty, you managed to look away and focus on the timelord next to you. “How long will this be here?”
She shrugged and sat down on the floor, pulling you gently down with her. “About 10 million years, could last longer.”
You huddled against the Doctor, your head on her shoulder. “Wow, that seems like forever.”
You felt the vibrations of her chuckle against your cheek. “Not forever. And certainly not a long time for a galaxy. This phase of creating stars may seem like a long time for you, but for the galaxy, it’s more like a month compared to how long it will actually be around for.”
“And how long is that?”
Warm arms snaked around you, holding you close. Her chin rested on the top of your head. “Billions of years.”
You should’ve been mind blown, and you were, but mostly all you could think about was one thing;
“So we can stay here and watch it all night?”
With a tight squeeze, the Doctor exhaled a laugh of pure joy through her nose. “We can stay here for as long as you want.”

________
Months went by and their journey continued on. His and the child's. They traveled across the galaxy, landing on desert planets, hiding on moons, hunting a bounty here and there even though he wanted to stop, and more often than not they had to flee in a hurry.
It was the same old routine. The only thing that changed was that Din couldn't go to sleep right away. The occurrence wasn't rare at all but now he didn't stay up because of his insomnia, or bad memories which would haunt his dreams.
He laid awake in his cot, the child on his chest and all he could think about were those mesmerizing eyes. It felt like a joke. He had met her only once and the time they spent together had been less than 3 hours but he still got swept off his feet. He wouldn't admit it, he couldn't. If he told Cara that a random smuggler was able to catch his heart she would probably laugh out loud and say something like: "I knew you were a big softie."
But he couldn't stop thinking about Y/N. The way her eyes had lit up when she laughed, how she swayed slightly with her hips when she walked. The way her clothes complimented her figure. There was a burning in his heart, a longing, and Din felt shame for thinking about a woman he barely knew in such an intimate manner. He tried to tell himself that he only felt that way because he was starving for affection and body contact, and anybody would do but his heart told him otherwise.
He tried to busy himself, tried to forget her or that she ever existed and it seemed to work, at least a little until fate appeared like it wanted to torment him.
They met again. But as things seemed to always go wrong for him, she was his bounty. And he was supposed to bring her in cold.
-
“The fuck do you think you’re doing, Kecha?”
Y/N stabbed his hand with her knife. The Delphidian cried out in pain and tried to grab her wrist but she warned him with a glare. His bodyguards pointed their blasters at her, even so, the Twi’Lek didn’t react.
“I told you I won’t give you shit if you can’t pay the full price!”
She twisted the knife in his wound and he groaned. His pitiful state satisfied her anger a little and she jerked her knife out of his hand. Kecha pulled his hand back and used his robe to stop the bleeding. Slowly, she sat down again and leaned back in her seat, her eyes not leaving his hunched figure. Since their boss didn’t say anything his gang members lowered their weapons.
“We had a bad month, Y/N, I can only pay the amount I have here...”, he stopped and pointed to the credits laying on the table, "but I can pay you in another currency."
The smuggler wiped her blade clean with a cold expression.
"I'm not interested in slaves, you should know that."
The pirate boss nodded, of course, he knew. She had almost split his skull once for offering her a male Twi'Lek slave.
He hesitated and then waved one of his boys over. He whispered a few words in his ear while Y/N watched him with a wary look. The pirate left to get something and returned some seconds later with a bounty puck and a tracking fob. She narrowed her eyebrows. Somehow she had a bad feeling.
"This puck was in the possession of a Duros we encountered a week ago."
He didn't need to explain how their encounter ended, the green blood on the device told enough. He activated the puck and Y/N's expression darkened instantly when she recognized her own face with Wanted written in Basic underneath. Her right hand traveled to her hips where her blasters were located.
“So what now? You wanna kill me?”
The Delphidian shook his head and she relaxed slightly. Nonetheless, her hand rested on her gun.
“Of course not, you’re a valuable business partner.”
Y/N snorted but her eyes looked unamused. She grabbed the tracking fob and activated it. The beeping was obnoxiously loud and fast. Well, its quarry was holding it after all. The thought of someone putting up a bounty for her worried her more than Kecha probably imagined. Her demeanor was unfazed but unease claimed her heart.
“Anything else you found out?”
The pirate boss nodded and rubbed the sweat from his forehead, pain was clearly visible in his eyes. The fact that he didn’t lash out at her for injuring him showed their unusual bond. After all, they had been partners for years. She started to feel a little guilty for hurting him but she would never admit it.
“They want you dead. 300′000 credits for your cold body.”
His voice had a worried undertone and the Twi’Lek paused. So many credits for her? The amount was intimidating and she wondered who the rich stranger was, who wanted to pay so much for her death.
“Wait, why would they - whoever wants me dead - hire the bounty hunter’s guild for this? This sounds more like a job for an assassin.”
Kecha shrugged his shoulders.
*I don’t know but if I were you I would lay low for a while.”
Y/N let out a small laugh.
“You know I can’t do that. Business is everything and I can’t lose any customers.”
The Delphidian frowned but she couldn’t tell if it was because of his wound. He used his uninjured hand to push the credits on the table towards her then he leaned back and let one of his henchmen give him a cloth to wrap around his hurt hand.
She took the credits and put them in a bag attached to her hip. She also grabbed the puck and deactivated the tracking fob. The smuggler stood up and walked over to the spice containers she brought him. With quick fingers, she unlocked all of them and deactivated the lock feature. When she turned around to see if he was satisfied, she noticed Kecha’s troubled expression. Her eyes softened.
“Don’t worry, I won’t get killed that easily. I can defend myself just well.”
He sighed and replied with an annoyed undertone:
“I know, you don’t have to remind me.”
Y/N turned her lips into a grin and she grabbed something in her bag and then threw it to him when she turned around to leave. Kecha caught the bacta patch and smiled.
“Thanks, Cap.”
She waved dismissively and left the room. No one followed her and she walked back to the Icarus. The moment the door closed behind her, the corner of her lips dropped. How would she get out of this mess? A bounty for her head? That was something new and Y/N she didn’t like it.
-
If Din had known who exactly he had to find he wouldn’t have taken the tracking fob. But that was the problem; he didn’t know. He didn’t receive the bounty from the guild, obviously not, after all, he left them behind. He got the job from a fellow on Taris while staying there. They needed supplies but he realized that they were short on money.
So he left the child on the Razor Crest - his heart clenched in worry but they needed food desperately and when he watched how the ramp of his ship closed, his child looked at him as if he understood.
It hadn’t really been his plan to do a bounty, he wanted to leave the profession behind because he needed to care for a baby but it was the quickest way to get good money.
Only once more, was his thought when he received the tracking fob. Neither did he know who put the bounty up nor who he had to hunt, but it was more than a guild traitor could ask for so he didn’t complain. He would get the money from his informant, he would make sure of that.
The beeping was slow and all he knew was the last location of his bounty and the fact that he should bring it in could but he didn’t let himself get discouraged. It had been the same with the baby and he found the little womp rat so he didn’t worry too much. Since he had one crucial information, the person he was about to hunt, was a notorious smuggler. Which meant he needed to be careful with his approach.
The first thing that went through his head when he heard that was, of course, Y/N. Stars, that woman stole his heart and he let her. Why was he so careless? With the cock of his blaster, he chased the beautiful Twi’Lek out of his mind and left the cantina.
He bought a rusty but still functioning speeder with the last of his credits and set off. He had no destination in mind, he just drove around to see where the tracking fob would start to beep louder.
He saw the remains of a city void of any intelligent life, fragments of former wars and battles. Nature took back what once was hers and the beauty of how she did it, made him pause. Would he be able to settle down in a quiet place like this?
It made him wonder why this was the first thing that crossed his mind but after seeing so much violence and death in his life, dying like a warrior seemed less desirable for him.
Peace and quiet, a goddamn second for him to take a breather and an evening where the child could eat and sleep without any disturbance was a wish that resonated deep within his soul. Maybe he got old. But he wasn’t old enough yet to not hear how the fob’s beep turned louder.
He stopped the speeder and jumped off. In a radius of 10 meters, he walked around it and listened to any change in the rhythm of the device. He needed to head north. The beep was not fast enough yet so he mounted the speeder again and continued to drive towards his bounty. What he didn’t realize, he wasn’t the only person who listened to his tracking fob.
-
“You sure it’s going to work out fine? You have a bounty on your head now...”
Eli voiced his concerns and she sighed. Of course, she knew, but as she had already told Kecha, her customers weren’t waiting and business was important. She couldn’t stop now, not when she almost got enough money to save her.
“It’ll be alright. This will be the last deal for a few months, okay? We can lay low for a while after this.”
His expression showed how he wasn’t exactly pleased with her answer but she ignored it and once again checked her datapad. It was almost time for her customer to show up.
She could understand his worry. Not only did the deal happen in a location where they would be presented on a silver tablet to any enemy, but they also didn’t have back-up like usual. But she had had no choice. The customer wanted it like that. And she wouldn’t dare anger a Hutt. Especially not him.
Y/N licked her lips and realized how dry her throat was. She decided to grab something to drink from her backpack, which laid in the shade next to the containers with the spice and their speeders. She had just drunk a few sips when a speeder approached.
“That must be the announcer”, remarked Eli and his head turned to the direction from which the approaching person came. She laughed.
“Well, Taro always had a flair for the dramatics. Announcing your arrival, does he believe he’s royalty?”
Her mocking tone caused the Miraluka to smile and she raised her voice when the roar of the speeder engine came to a stop a few meters away. Eli shifted and gasped. Was the announcer so ugly? She grinned.
“What a nice day isn’t it?”, she turned on her heel, “For a deal with spi-”
Their eyes met. Actually no, her eyes and his T-shaped visor met. Her breath hitched. She recognized the armor immediately. It had some more scratches and traces of blaster shots but she had dreamed about it so many times that she just knew.  “It’s time for us to leave. Thank you for your hospitality.” The flutter in her chest from that day returned. What... What is he doing here?
Her eyes traveled to the thing in his hand that beeped obnoxiously. Oh.
Y/N raised her head and stared at his visor again. A bitter grimace crossed her face. Both of them exhaled slowly, almost painfully.
“Shit.”
-
Din’s mind was a mess. How was it possible that the person who stole his heart suddenly appeared before him like this? Oh, Mand’alor, how could fate be so cruel? His bounty was her companion?! How could he kill him, what was his name - Eli, who traveled with her and obviously meant much to Y/N?
He felt slightly dizzy from the storm inside his head and all he could do was curse. When she said the same thing as him, his heart clenched and he almost let out a breathy laugh. This situation was the worst.
“So we meet again.”
Y/N started talking first and her voice was as melodious he remembered. Her e/c eyes were filled with something that caused his heartbeat to quicken and he was once more thankful that she wasn’t able to see his face. This way she couldn’t see what she did to him. His cheeks and ears were burning and he prayed that his voice regulators weren’t sensitive enough to pick up his quick breathing.
While he seemed to have completely forgotten what the tracking fob in his hand meant for both him and the other two, the Twi’lek continued to speak with an ugly grimace on her beautiful face.
“This isn’t exactly how I imagined we’d meet again, Mando.”
He realized how her hand landed on the blaster on her right hip. The gesture was like a bullet to his heart. Did she seriously believe he would do something to her friend? The thought didn’t cross him when the storm in his mind continued raging. Of course he was worrying about the child and the money but still. No way.
“I- It’s good to see you again, Y/N”, he replied lamely.
He wanted to tell her so many things but it looked like his brain had a short circuit. The woman’s grip tightened around her weapon but she didn’t point it at him. Her smile was still bitter and his heart seriously ached from seeing the frown.
“I don’t know if it’s really good. I see you’re here for the bounty. So what now?”
Her hostility was clearly audible in her voice and Eli stepped beside her as if he wanted to protect the smuggler. The way his hand touched her shoulder so casually made jealousy flare up in him. Were they together? This possibility struck him like lightning. He never even thought about it that the stunning woman could already have someone in her heart.
Actually, he didn’t even know what he thought. All he ever daydreamed about was holding her close. Seeing her laugh, watching how her charming eyes light up because of something that he said.
Okay, truthfully he had also had some rather... impure thoughts about her but that was when his mind wandered late at night when he wasn’t able to sleep at all and the snores of his child couldn’t help him to doze off.
But that wasn’t the point. The point was that he never actually imagined meeting her again much less, what he would say to her. He groaned because of his own stupidity. On what cloud had he been floating?
“Y/N, this doesn’t seem to be a good time to discuss this...”
The brown-haired man tilted his head and the veil in front of his eyes swayed slightly. Din disagreed with him.
“I’m not here to hurt you”, he tried to show his sincerity in holding up his hands with the tracking fob still in his grip.
“You sure about that, big guy?”
Seeing her antagonizing him with a fierce look in her eyes and a dark expression on her face, made Din think: Fuck, she’s hot. His brain clearly turned to mush after meeting her again. There was no other way to explain the lack of his reasoning and rationality. He could only nod, his stance was extremely stiff.
Y/N pursed her lips, and his heart skipped a beat - Mand’alor, in what kind of lovesick fool have I turned? She relaxed her hand slightly but her expression was still as cold.
Unknown to Din, the Twi’lek’s mind had turned into a mess too. Delight, Anxiety, and Helplessness coursed through her veins all at the same time and she had troubles trying to figure out what she was supposed to do now.
The man she had fed and protected and who had infatuated her a few months ago, suddenly showed up in front of her, right before she was about to wind up the last deal for her goal. She was filled with joy but at the same time with dread, since he was obviously here to kill her. Definitely not the reunion she had expected.
But the way he stood there, no intention for attacking visible from his body language gave her hope. Maybe they could talk this one out.
“You know...”, his voice sounded emotionless through the regulators of his helmet but the way he hesitated showed his uncertainty, “I wanted to tell you something. After the child and I left your ship I...”
She didn’t see his eyes but she knew they were focused on her. She could feel the burning of his stare.
“Y/N, I wanted to tell you that I-”
A single gunshot ringed through the air and the smuggler staggered. A round burning hole appeared in her chest, her armor didn’t protect her at all.
At that moment Din realized that he had it all wrong. Eli wasn’t the bounty. It was Y/N. And somebody just fucking shot her.
A shout reached his ears and when he leaped forward to catch her, Din didn’t realize he was the one yelling.
-
Eli caught her first. How the apparent blind man managed to do that, he didn’t know but at that moment he didn’t care. A noise in his ears was all he could hear when he pushed the other man and Y/N to the containers to take cover.
He turned around, his rifle already in his hand, the tracking fob had been dropped to the floor mindlessly when he tried to catch her.
His eyes found the shooter immediately. It was a human man with a sniper rifle. He wore a blue jacket with a red symbol Din had seen before. The man wasn’t far away, in fact in shocked him how close he was able to get. Had his senses become dull? Or was it because he was talking to the person he liked? Burning fury exploded in the Mandalorian’s chest.
While Eli cradled the Twi’Lek in his arms and spoke to her in a panicked manner, all he could see was red. His hands moved automatically and efficiently when he cocked his gun and he seemed deadly calm when he slowly raised his rifle. His outside appearance was completely the opposite of his inner turmoils but maybe his rage was able to get him to focus.
Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. KILL. KILL THAT BASTARD!!!
He shot once, then twice and he continued to shoot until he had to reload. His finger still pulled the trigger when his plasma gun didn’t have any ammunition left. But Din hadn’t shot the man fatally. His aim was slightly off because his hands had suddenly started shaking when Y/N’s friend called her name in a desperate attempt to stop her from fainting. Nevertheless, he had wounded the foolish bastard who dared to attack the person he loved.
He was about to stomp over to the soon-to-be-dead fucker, who had tumbled to the mossy ground behind some trees when a painful grunt cut him short in his tracks.
“Sith, that hurt like a b... bitch...”
Y/N’s breath was haggard and her grip on Eli’s arm was weak but she didn’t lose consciousness. At least not yet. The way her eyes had turned misty was a warning which made both men’s blood run cold. The Mandalorian’s wrath extinguished as fast as it ignited. All that was left was cold dread and the feeling of helplessness. He ignored the man who shot her thinking: That bastard will die of his wounds anyway.
Din walked to the fallen smuggler and her companion and fell to his knees. His distress was clearly audible through the regulators of his helmet.
“I don’t have a b-bacta patch”, was all he could say through his gritted teeth.
“Neither do we...”
Her tone was light but she couldn’t hide her pain. The Twi’Lek grabbed her companion who seemed to be in a daze. Her face showed a grave expression.
“Fuck... Eli, promise me you’ll free her... okay?”
Din had no idea what she was talking about but she was obviously talking as if she was about to die. Which could be because she was only lightly injured right? There was no way that the woman, who melted his already frozen heart, would just die here when they just met again. Right?!
The blind man choked and his arms who held her trembled. The scars on his face wrinkled when he frowned and Din felt how ice-cold terror washed over him. No, no no, this can’t happen!!
He grabbed her hand without thinking and the fact that she wasn’t cold yet stopped his spiraling momentarily. Her e/c eyes found his visor and she tightened her grip as if to tell him that everything was going to be fine. Y/N smiled weakly and it was a wonder that he didn’t keel over right then and there.
“Don’t say that. I won’t do it. I’m not promising you shit, Cap!”
The brown-haired man exhaled slowly.
“I’ll make sure you hear what that stupid Mandalorian wanted to say to you before you got shot like an idiot. I told you it was a dumb idea!”
He swallowed. What was Eli even talking about? They had no way to help her without a bacta patch! He held the Twi’lek’s hand like it was a lifeline. He felt like he was the one who was dying. And maybe he was. If Y/N left him here and now, he was sure he would never recover from the loss. The loss of never having something he wanted. The loss of never being able to tell her what he wished they were. The loss of a lover who never was one.
“It... not... my fault...”, murmured Y/N, her face definitely paler than before.
He wanted to say something to her, at least tell her how he felt when they had first met but no words escaped his lips. It was as if he lost his voice. He could only watch with burning eyes how Eli put his hand on the deadly wound. The man breathed out slowly and Din could see how his jaws clenched.
“After this, you’ll need to pay me back with a kyber crystal”, growled Eli, his expression totally different from the harsh tone of his words. Once again he had no clue what the blind man meant.
It was as if the galaxy took a second to breathe and slowed time while doing so. Din could see how the eyes of Y/N widened slowly, her mouth turned into the shape of an ‘o’, wind ruffled the brown hair of the man and the blue veil lifted only for the Mandalorian to see that Eli had, in fact, no eyes at all.
This revelation shocked Din more than it should. But what shocked him the most: Y/N sucked in a breath and when the man whose species he couldn’t name right now took his hand away, the wound was gone. He blinked. A memory crossed his mind.
His child did the same thing. A few months ago. He lifted his head to watch Eli closely and the man exhaled and started to smile. This person had just saved her from dying in his arms.
“Still got it”, he whispered and Y/N whose expression had turned from pained to baffled laughed disbelievingly. Her chest heaved and even though her body was healed she still looked like she just survived a deadly injury.
Her fingers gripped Din’s tighter and she turned her head slightly to face him. Maybe it was because the sun had already set but her eyes looked so beautiful right now it took his breath. The way she stared at him, stars. The relief that washed over him turned his whole body into jelly. He weakly fell on his ass and leaned back, his hand never leaving hers.
His tone was stunned when he whispered: “Mand’alor, I thought that was the end of the beginning.”
He said it in a low voice but both of the others heard him.
“The beginning of what?”
Y/N’s eyes were full of innocence and Din was too shaken up to get embarrassed when Eli responded jokingly instead of him:
“Your relationship.”
But the reaction of the smuggler made his heart flutter. Her cheeks flushed and she stuttered wide-eyed:
“Wa-What? What are you saying, Eli?!”
She looked between the two men but both of them looked away. Din out of shock because of her strong reaction and the other because he felt a slight headache.
Y/N realized immediately that something was wrong.
“You okay? I thought you said you wouldn’t use the force anymore?”
The Mandalorian perked up, while Eli waved his hand.
“I just saved your ass, might as well be grateful, don’t you think?”
His teasing undertone couldn’t hide his exhaustion but the Twi’lek didn’t seem like she wanted to point it out. She wanted to say something else but a voice interrupted her.
“My, what do we have here? Captain L/N what happened?”
It was spoken in Huttese and Din turned around alarmed. On the hill behind the shooter stood a male Weequay. The newcomer looked surprised seeing the smuggler lying on the floor, two men hovering over her and holding her close to them.
“We had run into some problem, but”, responded Eli and shot a glance to the trees where a stiff body laid, “we got rid of it.”
“Do you need medical attention?”
Din guessed that this was a customer and the reason why Y/N and Eli were even here. The fact that the man seemed rather friendly surprised him quite a bit.
“Thank you, but there is no need. When will Taro arrive?”
How the woman could just go into business-mode after almost getting killed, was a wonder to him, but it also raised her even higher in his eyes. Stars, what just happened?
-
After that, they had somehow wrapped up the deal with Taro and her eyes almost filled with tears of happiness when she received the credits who would buy the freedom of her little girl.
The Mandalorian watched over her like a hawk during the talk and even though they really didn’t know each other at all, she didn’t mind at all. In fact, it felt natural. When she remembered his presence next to her, she smiled.
Taro had left and they decided to ride back on their speeders. Eli insisted on her riding with Mando and even though she had glared at him, she silently praised him when she held onto the sturdy frame of the man. She had leaned her head on his back and she could sense how his heartbeat sped up, which caused her to crack a smile.
Their meeting had started shitty but it turned out well if you forget the fact that she had almost died. But who cared about that. If she pondered over every little thing or accident that happened in her life she would have already died from sadness.
She remembered how it had all begun. How her thoughts were invaded by the Mandalorian.
When they first met, she had looked at him longingly. The way he was able to hold his child while she couldn’t hold hers. It made her jealous. A reaction that was unreasonable but natural for her. Every parent she had met caused this feeling. But with him it was different. There was something else.
An appeal she hadn’t been able to name. But when he had held her hand during her “time of dying” she realized what she felt.
“You know... The thing you said before. It kinda sounded like a love confession wouldn’t you say?”, she told him when they dismounted the speeders at a landing bay where the Icarus stood and both men had turned around to face her.
He had stiffened and she noticed that she might really like to tease him. Eli rolled his eyes and walked past behind her to get to the ship.
It was then that an invisible force caused her to lose her balance and she tumbled into Mando’s arms. She knew immediately who made this accident happen but she got distracted by the strong arms that caught her and held her close to the man’s chest. Damn, he really was hot. Her cheeks began to burn and she averted her eyes.
“S-Sorry...”
He only grunted and put her back on her feet. Her hands lingered on his chest a little longer than intended but he didn’t comment on it.
“It’s fine.” Fine. Great. Absolutely perfect.
Din’s chest was feeling light and he felt a sudden urge to talk to his Ad’ika and tell him about what he encountered today.
“Oh.”
He remembered the child he had left on the Razor Crest and when he looked to the Horizon he saw the setting sun. Fuck.
“My boy”, was all he could say while he stood there frozen.
“You forgot your child?”
Y/N didn’t hide her teasing undertone at all but her face showed a slightly worried expression.
“He’s still on the ship, I didn’t want him to come with me on the bounty hun...”, he trailed off and his head turned to watch her. She tilted hers.
“So you really were chasing after me, huh?”
He ignored the ambiguous words and lowered his eyes. Guilt burned in his heart and he seriously worried that she would hold this against him.
“I didn’t know it was you. I apologize. I would’ve never accepted it if I had known it was you.”
The way he said you made her chest tingle and she raised an eyebrow and the corner of her lips. She stepped closer to him, sudden confidence coursing through her veins.
“Are you saying you wouldn’t chase me?”
She twisted his words in his mouth and he knew but damn, it attracted him even more to her. He also liked the way she smirked, it made her look alluring.
“No, I’m saying that I would never chase you if it meant you have to die at the end of it.”
The seriousness in his voice caused her e/c eyes to soften. They turned into crescents and in a swift motion, she grabbed his hand, stood on her tiptoes and planted a kiss on his helmet.
“Well, then you better be happy that my best friend can use the force!”
He couldn’t even react, she already scurried inside the Icarus laughing.
Din stood there dumbfounded for a moment. Heat crept up his neck and his cheeks flushed.
“Shit... What is that woman doing to me?”
He didn’t know if he was happier about the kiss or about the fact that Eli apparently was only a friend and she seemed to welcome his advances but one thing was clear: Today was a good day.
The comlink inside his palm was proof. He clenched his fist in victory and stood there for a second before turning around to return to his child and tell him about that one woman.
What he didn’t know...
“So you gave him our channel?”
Y/N nodded, her whole face still hot but she grinned from ear to ear.
“And you kissed him?”
“Not a real Mandalorian kiss, of course, but who knows what’s next.”
The smuggler winked at him and passed the Miraluka. Eli laughed and pressed the button to close the ship. With the force, he was able to see the dust that the Mandalorian’s speeder kicked up.
“Who knows what’s next...”, he mumbled and when he turned around he reached out to the force connection and told the little boy that everything was fine with his father. He was on his way home and had many things to tell.

End Note: Wohooo, second part finished yaaay :D Actually I feel like this one is a little rushed. For me it’s like the reader is suddenly shot, Din is like D: and then Eli swoops in to save the day but I was rewriting that part 3 times and in the end just left it like that xD Also, was it a plot twist that Y/N also has a child? I wanted for her to have a reason why she became a smuggler but this will be adressed in the last part. Also, also, there wasn’t that much “action” as in romantic stuff at all but I wanted to leave that for the last part, since these idiots seriously only met twice... But yeahhh, hope you enjoyed it anyway :)

Alright. Let’s give this a shot.
SPOILER-Y DISCUSSION OF CAPTAIN MARVEL, INCOMING:
I figure the best way to do this is chronological; my prior attempts have not been chronological, which might account for their feeling a little...all over the place and unorganized.
This will also be a good test to see how much of the film I remember.
RIGHT THEN: First and foremost, (and we gleaned this from the trailers, obviously) MEMORY-LOSS PLOT. Which is Classic Carol™. She’s lost her memory like. Four times.
(her poor brain D:)
All of this to say: The premise of the movie, a kind of reverse origin story in which Carol figures out who she is, in a very literal but also figurative sense, was a great way to go, IMO.
Love all the moments from Carol’s past. I was admittedly surprised that we didn’t get more of that? But what was there was effective and given the amount of ground the movie had to cover, I think it was sufficient.
So after the dreams** we get the early morning fight with Yon-Rogg (who I was absolutely certain was Yon-Rogg, in spite of all the back and forth speculation and Marvel attempting to ‘hide’ his identity) and there’s exposition, obviously, and the set up of Carol’s struggle with Yon-Rogg’s forced Kree values clashing with Carol’s humanity but MORE importantly...
PHOTON BLASTS.
Love the way they render the energy pulsing just below the surface of her skin. Looks so cool.
Then: Chit Chat Time with The Great Intelligence!
I thought for sure it was gonna be Helen Cobb.
BOY WAS I MISTAKEN. (More on that in a sec.)
Favorite Visual #1: The slow pan of Starforce and the excellent shot of Carol’s helmet as they swim to shore on Torfa.
The whole rescue mission sequence/Carol’s kidnapping is...Truly a Highlight, in my opinion.
I mean!
She’s running around the enemy ship! Without her boots! Pummeling the Skrulls with unwieldy metal shackles! And growling in their faces!
#BOSSOFSPACE
Also, comic connection alert: Carol was kidnapped and experimented on by the Brood, which resulted in her stint as Binary.
So, back to the movie:
Talos man.
TALOS.
We’ll get to him later.
Okay what month of 1995 does Captain Marvel take place in? Because I was honestly offended that no one, and I mean NO ONE made a Buzz Lightyear joke re: Carol’s outfit and being a member of STARCOMMANDFORCE who checks her wrist communicator to try and make contact.
(Toy Story came out in November so if this takes place in the summer I GUESS I will let it slide.)
But otherwise dug all of the 90s references.
The little Gameboy sound when she calls Yon-Rogg!
(Also, train chase was great but I’m trying to save time though I do feel inclined to mention Kelly Sue DeConnick! Bringing some quality side eye! Very nice.)
Young Fury + Carol = excellent buddy cop combo, 14/10 would take an entire spinoff of their wacky 90s road trip adventures.
‘You look like someone’s disaffected niece’ might be favorite line in the film.
Let’s pause for a moment and appreciate the score, shall we? Pinar Toprak CRUSHES IT; the Captain Marvel theme feels like something out of The Rocketeer but with about 400% more sci-fi synth and I LOVE IT.
**Love the piece of score played when Carol wakes up. (Appropriately titled “Waking Up” I think, on the soundtrack.)
I also like the songs they picked for the movie? This is probably the complaint I’ve seen most often, that they feel obvious and easy, but. I dunno. I was never expecting something like Guardians of the Galaxy? So I wasn’t mad about it.
(In related news, I’ve been listening to “Connection” on repeat ever since the special look trailer dropped.)
Anyways.
GOOSE.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE.
MY GOOD FLERKEN GIRL.
(So, yes, breezing past the bar interrogation--though I do like the ghostly images of Carol’s past that crop up--as well as the trip to Pegasus, again in the interest of time.)
(WAIT. NO. THE TAPE JOKE.)
(Okay for real. Moving on.)
So then. THEN.
The Rambeaus. And the feelings.
Unpopular(?) opinion: I love that this big budget action movie focuses on female friendships and platonic relationships instead of romance THERE I SAID IT
ALSO LIEUTENANT TROUBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I spelled Lieutenant right on the first try. Just sayin’.
But in all seriousness, I love the time we spend in Louisiana. We get a lot of good stuff. Carol getting answers from Maria, Talos arriving with his soda (milkshake?) The standoff with Goose.
(Oh, and how could I forget Maria bidding farewell to the neighbor, shutting the front door as Carol continues to glower???)
‘What’s happening?’ ‘It’s loading.’ XD
Favorite Visual #2 (Chronologically, but actually the one I like best in the movie) The Pysche-Magnitron Light Speed Engine explosion.
(Thank you, Marvel, for changing it to ‘light speed engine,’ which is much easier to spell than Psyche-Magnitron)
But yeah, that was the visual that sold me, in the earliest trailer. I wish I had some profound reason for that, but the truth is I just love blue-glow-y stuff.
BUT ALSO
(And, okay, an additional spoiler- warning because this is a big one. Like. Big.)
...................................................................
...................................................................
...................................................................
Seriously, go away if you haven’t seen the movie yet.
................................................................................................................................
MAR-VELL iS A WOMAN
LIKE THIS WHOLE TIME. EVERYONE WAS SO FOCUSED ON JUDE LAW. And then there was that blip, right before the release, when Annette Bening revealed she was the Great Intelligence, again after months of secrecy so we were all like, HA we know the TWIST.
BUT NO. NO WE DID NOT.
Well played, Marvel. Well played.
This was something I was thinking about before the film came out; I just kind of assumed, because of the lack of an apparent ‘Mar-Vell,’ that Carol would be the first and only Captain Marvel in the MCU. And she basically is, b/c we have no indication that Dr. Larson was moonlighting as a superhero, but regardless this is SO COOL. SUCH A GOOD TWIST.
(A quick Google search on how many ‘L’s are in Mar-Vell led to a serendipitous discovery: an article on the gender swap decision, and apparently it came very late in the game. Like. ‘Already looking at guys to play Mar-Vell’ late in the game. *insert themoreyouknow.gif here*)
Right, okay, back to Feelings:
When Carol’s like: You don’t know who I am! I don’t know who I am!
I was. Emotional.
(Brie Larson is perfectly cast and does a wonderful job.)
Maria’s pep talk? Also caused emotions.
And Maria got to come on the mission! I was pleasantly surprised, and really glad that the visit there wasn’t like. Just a pit stop, you know?
RIP Science Guy, we hardly knew ye.
Again, jumping ahead, but may I just say: It was truly an Experience, watching this movie with folks who had no idea what a ‘Flerken’ was.
Both my friends at the first screening I attended, and then like. Half the theater at the second one. XD
The whole row was like: WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT when the tentacles came out.
So yeah, Talos and the 180 on the REAL villains: Nice. The enduring complaint leveled at the MCU is a lack of compelling villains. (I guess Talos technically doesn’t count as a villain by the end of this, but. We’re going with it.) And Carol’s commitment to helping the Skrull refugees lifts plot elements from my favorite portion of the DeConnick run, so. YEP. LOVED IT.
(I was also trying to determine if Talos’ daughter was perhaps meant to be like. a Tic expy. Did it say ‘Tic’ on the pinball machine? Or ‘Tig’? Or something else entirely?)
Loved the...mind prison? sequence. All of it. “Come as You Are,” the Great Intelligence rockin’ out in the jacket, Carol’s Big Damn Hero moment. Brilliant. Spectacular. Amazing.
“My name is Carol.”
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS
(Or does she say her full name? I can’t remember.)
And then the subsequent fight scene where Carol’s like. Simultaneously kicking butt but also enjoying all this newfound power/strength? A+++++
Favorite Visual #3: Carol sitting on the railing with the lunchbox.
Sad to see Minn-Erva go, but. Was so cool that Maria gets her own hero moment.
And then this big ol’ fight scene where Carol DESTROYS SPACESHIPS WITH HER BARE HANDS.
Favorite Visual #4: Carol going Binary in the red, blue, and yellow suit with the helmet FLYING THROUGH SPACE, LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT.
All of the visuals from this portion are so on point it’s like they’re pulled straight from the comics.
Favorite Visual #5: When Carol’s staring down Ronan and she like. Does that thing, where you hit your palm with your fist? (IDK the technical term there) And there’s this awesome energy burst and AGAIN, BLUE GLOW-Y THINGS. I love.
I’m pretty sure there’s an interview where Brie Larson talked about watching Indiana Jones? And wanting to be the female equivalent of that.
WELL, that’s the movie I immediately thought of when Carol blasted Yon-Rogg into a boulder, mid-goading.
(Y’know, like the scene in Raiders where Harrison Ford was too sick/tired to do the fight choreography, so he just. Shot the bad guy.)
ALSO, when she drags his sorry butt across the desert? I was IMMEDIATELY reminded of Kara dragging Astra into the DEO.
DANVERS GIIIIRRRRRRRRRRLLLLLS
*ahem*
THE FAMILY DINNER AT THE END?????
LITERAL FOUND FAMILY OF ALIENS AND SOLDIERS AND SUPERHEROES JUST. HAVING DINNER. PLAYING UNO. WASHING DISHES AND SINGING "PLEASE MR. POSTMAN”?
Thank you, Marvel, for this beautiful gen fic material.
WHOOPS I forgot the costume colors bit. (Admittedly confused it with the ending wherein Monica gives Carol her jacket back. Sans ketchup stain.)
So backtracking ever-so-slightly...
Let’s see if I remember this right: We get
Red and gold (Binary send-up, possibly? Or maybe the original Ms. Marvel costume?)
IDK what to call it....Lite-Brite? (♪ makin’ thi-ings with lii-iii-ight ♫)
Black and Gold (bathing suit costume?)
White and Green (original Mar-Vel/Kree colors)
That last one’s the only one that’s like. Obvious and deliberate. I’m just guessing with the others.
BUT CLEARLY I am ABSOLUTELY ONTO SOMETHING with the Lite-Brite.
BACK TO THE ENDING Lt. Trouble gives Carol her jacket and that’s my fav look, out of all the costume variations we see in the movie. I mean. I love the black and green, admittedly, and the helmet looks SO GOOD for being something that should be ridiculous, but my go-to answer for superhero costume design is: add a leather jacket.
Favorite Visual #6: Carol in the suit and flight jacket, floating above Earth, ready to go save the day.
AND THEN SHE’S OFF.
Ooooh, ooooooooh, but we can’t forget the scene. The scene that I’m certain ticked off The Continuity Police. (You know the types.)
See, remember when Marvel was like, ‘Carol’s the first Avenger!’ and haters were like, ‘UH HELLO IT’S STEVE????!????’
And then Marvel was like, oh ho ho ho, we meant LITERALLY the ENTIRE INITIATIVE IS NAMED AFTER HER CALL SIGN AND SHIELD STARTS LOOKING FOR SUPERHEROES BECAUSE OF HER ERGO SHE IS THE FIRST die mad about it.
That was so very, very satisfying to see.
(Also I guess she’s a literal Captain in the air force? If the rank on the jet is legit. Pretty sure she’s a Major in the comics, though. But I assume this change is to help sell the ‘Captain Marvel’ name.)
And then, friends. And then.
I was fully prepared to leave the theater, uncertain of when we’d next see Carol.
EVEN AS THE MID CREDITS SCENE PLAYED. I was like. ‘Well, they’re gonna cut it off before we can see anythINOHMaNTHERESHEIS!!!!!!’
‘Where’s Fury.’
*insert aesthetically pleasing keyboard smash here*
BRING ON ENDGAME.
And before we wrap up here, one final note:
The Space Stone, sought after by Trickster Gods and Mad Titans alike, was for a brief time, nothing more than a glorified furball.
FIN
(Nope, wait. One little anecdote before we go: of my core group of buddies, I am the Comics Nerd, and thus I am often consulted after we’ve watched a Marvel movie. So I had to explain that YES, Kara Danvers had the last name Danvers first, but she was adopted, and her GIVEN fake name was Linda Lee, so in all fairness, the same-name thing is a little less plagiarize-y, b/c ‘Linda Lee Danvers’ does not necessarily match up as well as ‘Kara Danvers’--which wasn’t even used until really recently--to ‘Carol Danvers’. ...Honestly, I was just really happy they called out the connection MY WORK HAS NOT BEEN IN VAIN XD )
Also, I sometimes get replies on posts like this which is totally fine BUT, I would ask that folks keep really spoiler-y stuff out of ‘em. At least for a little while.

With All My Body
Bucky Barnes x Reader
Summary: A story about how Bucky falls over and over again for you, from the very first time he meets you, with all his senses.
Words: 4k
Warning: smut (well, it is not actual smut, just a slight few paragraphs about it.)
A/N: For you to know, when I wrote about the orchestra I didn´t have in mind the typical orchestras we all know, but the one that works with Hans Zimmer. (If you don´t know who he is, I really recommend you go and check his videos. He makes music for well-known movies and the songs are wonderful.) So, yeah, I have that image of an orchestra in mind.
Tumblr media
(Credits to the owner of the gif.)
The night is covering the city and the powerful lights of buildings and of propaganda signs dominate the sight.
As everybody knows, the city of New York does not sleep and today is not the exception. If one stands in the middle of a street, any crowded street, he is going to hear music coming from bars, horns and brakes of cars and busses, the voices of the thousands of people passing by his side. The continuous vivid noise of the city is an essential factor for considering New York "not for everyone."
However, in one of the theaters of the American state, the environment is peaceful, calm. Only whispers among the audience can be heard.
With his ear as trained as the rest of his body and with the help of the serum, Bucky can hear most of the whispers without having to do any effort at all.
His seat is on the second file of the theater, right in front of the fancy stage which has heavy red curtains hunging from the ceiling down to the floor with a huge screen on the back. The file is also occupied by some others well-known citizens: Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson, Natasha Romanoff and the man who was born for being on the spotlight, Tony Stark.
One of the most respectable orchestras of  New York is now playing a series of concerts in the city after returning from a two-month tour in Europe around the most refined theaters of the old continent.
Being Tony Stark "friend" of half of the city, of course he knows the director of the orchestra. Therefore, after receiving a call from the director himself inviting him and the rest of the Avengers to the concert, Tony could not say no and Steve, Bucky, Sam and Natasha could not avoid not coming.
The warm lights of the theater are now gone and the only area which continues illuminated is the stage where two huge grades for the musicians are standing  and a shiny dark brown piano in the middle of both grades can be seen.
A wave of applauses arises as the musicians appear one behind the other as they position themselves on the grades. The applauses do not cease when the last musician is on his place since the director appears and raises his hands to wave the auditorium. Then, he sits in front of the piano as he looks at the rest of the musicians, making sure they are ready to begin.
The stage lights only illuminate the director. He puts his hands above the keys of the piano, like caressing them with an extreme delicacy before starting playing with them the first chords of the song. The beautiful and delicate sound that comes from the piano is enough to move the audience.
After a few seconds, the bass accompanies the piano and immediately after, the cello starts playing, becoming, together with the piano, the main instruments of the song.
That is the reason why the light above you starts illuminating only you, one of the cellists of the orchestra. You are standing, together with two other violinists, on the left side of the stage.
In the meantime, Bucky has been paying attention to the piano. It brings him back memories of his time in the first decades of the twentieth century. He could not avoid thinking about the occasions in which he used to go to bars and on the small stages, there always was a man playing his piano.
Bucky realizes that the melancholy that has arised in him is even stronger when he hears the cello. Still, he cannot move his eyes from the piano and so, from the memories of his older self, of the James Barnes who did not know what true pain was.
The sound is beautiful, he thinks. How is it possible that the sound of strings can cause him to find feelings and evoke memories that he had buried down in his mind?
Bucky closes his eyes and lets his ears be the channel for the melody to fill his body that has already provoke so much on him. Those piano keys that are being played and the cello, oh, that powerful cello that makes him wanna cry. How can an instrument produce so much things in Bucky? How is it possible he starts playing in his mind moments of his life just by the waves of sound travelling on the air? Bucky stops asking himself all those questions and only enjoys the sounds that have drown him.
For a moment, he lets himself get lost in the music he is hearing and go to wherever his mind wants to take him.
When he opens his eyes, the other light of the stage, the one above you, is the one that calls Bucky´s attention. His eyes leave the piano and now, they are on you.
And they remain on you the rest of the night.
He hasn´t heard you talk yet, but the way you play the cello is enough for him to fall in love with the sounds you emit. He can hear you speaking through your cello and for Bucky, it is enough.
Bucky is not sure if it is the light and the shadows that seem to play in your face that make you misterious, or if it is because of the way your body moves as you play the instrument... He does not know why but he cannot take his eyes off you because he finds you fascinating, seductive, outstanding, enigmatic.
He looks at your hair and how it falls from one side to the other as you slowly move your head at the sounds you are creating and that are filling the theater. Just the movement of your body makes it possible to perceive that these sounds  travel from your ears to your veins. He looks at your hand holding the bow and moving it from left to right. He looks at your left hand, the one on the neck of the cello and he sees how you make that technical move as if it were shaking so as to  make the strings vibrate and create that special effect on the strings.
Bucky stares at you as a painter stares at the canvas in which he just finished painting the piece of art that, in his opinion, is the best he has ever done. He stares at you as a astronomer stares through the microscope the universe and its infinites galaxies. Bucky stares at you with admiration, intrigue, fascination.
His eyes look for you even when the lights are gone from the stage. He tries to make his eyes get used to the temporary darkness so as to distinguish your form behind your cello.
Bucky does not even know your name yet but you have already enchanted his ears and his eyes.
The next time Bucky sees you is at Tony Stark´s wedding, nine months after he saw you for the very first time at the theater.
The extasis and excitement he felt when he saw you for the first time lasted days and weeks. The idea of you as a mistery is what kept that extasis not to vanish for quite a long time.
He was sure that maybe he could google you just by writing “orchestra of New York” in the searching bar. Just maybe, your picture would appear together with your name. However, not only did Bicky find it creepy, but also, he still has some old manners. Being a man from the 40´s, he still considers that the best way to get to know someone is when you are face to face, not when you google their names and get information about them while the other person knows nothing about you.
So, for him, you are just that, an enigma. And just like any other enigma, he wants to know more about you, to discover something, anything about you.
It is a shock when he sees you standing there, making delicate movements with your hands while playing the songs you were asked by the bride, Pepper Potts.
------
Bucky leans on one of the two doors that faces the green surroundings of the party room. From where he is, he can appreciate what seems a never-ending field of grass, a huge tree on his left and a wide path made of stone  —not comfortable at all for those wearing heals.
He sighs and closes his eyes for a moment, feeling the air that blows directly on his face. He can hear the rattle of heels from behind him and then, right next to him. He opens his eyes and he sees you walking by his side.
His breath stops for a second when he realizes it is you and, with guts that seem to come from the old Bucky Barnes  — the flirtatious and outspoken Bucky of the last century, he says all of a sudden and without thinking his words:  “Good show.”
““Good show”? Really, that´s the very first thing I have to say?” he thinks, wanting to punch himself.
You turn your head to look behind you as you hear a voice but you are not sure if the person is actually talking to you. When you see that the man is in fact looking at you, you reply: “Why, thanks!”
Bucky can finally hear your voice, but he will think about the pitch and the tone of your voice later on, when he is back in the tower, because right now, his mind is focused on actually talking to you.
“I saw you,” Bucky clears his throat and continues, “I saw you some time ago playing in here at  David Geffen Hall. You were really good. You all were really good,” he rapidly corrects himself.
“Thanks again.” You are now facing him.
“I really like that you have incorporated electric guitars and basses to your orchestra. I´ve never seen that before.”
“Yeah, it´s innovating. They make our sound pretty unique and —“
“Y/N!” A voice from inside the party room interrupts you.
“Tony, what happened?” you ask as you see him approaching. The truth is, if it were for you, you would call him “Mr. Stark” but the times he went to your rehearsals with Pepper, he made clear he wanted you all to call him Tony. “Mr. Stark sounds as if I were your boss, or if I had seventy years old, so forget about it,” he told you.
“They have already warned me about you. Come on, join the party.”
“I can´t. I really can´t. It´s not professional to stay in here.”
“Come on, you are a guest to the wedding too. Staying the night, eating and drinking after your performance is not going to make you any less professional. There are other people of the orchestra in there,” Tony says as he points out to the inside of the room.
“I —”
“It´s not weird for any of us to see the musicians who just played walking and eating around the room. Is it?” Tony asks Bucky, who has been listening to your conversation but with his eyes stuck exclusively on you.
“No, it´s not,” Bucky rapidly answers back.
You look at Tony and sigh. You know that even though it goes against your rules, and the rules you´ve been taught when you were a teenager when rehearsing, that you cannot win a conversation to Tony Stark. So you just say: “Ok, I stay.”
“Great to hear that, Y/N!” Tony claps his hands twice. “I see that you already met Barnes. I´ll leave you with him while I go back to entertain my guests.” And just like he appears, Tony leaves both of you in an instant.
“I guess I´m going back inside, then. Are you staying here or are you going there to dance?” You ask Bucky as you start walking towards the crowd.
“To tell you the truth, I´m not much of a dancer.”
“Don´t worry, me neither. That´s why I dedicate my life to play an instrument and not to actually dance. I can stay here with you, if that´s fine for you.”
“Sure, I don´t mind your company.” Of course he doesn´t.
You end up sitting in the stair of the door where you´ve been talking, almost invisible for the rest of the guests who are dancing and singing out loud the pop songs the DJ plays.
Bucky finds out that you are actually a person easy to talk to. Of course you do not talk much about your personal lives, being still strangers with each other. But it is not a boring conversation and the few inevitable silences that arise are not uncomfortable at all; you always find a way to fill them and surprisingly, so does Bucky.
Having you so near him, Bucky realizes that you are as beautiful as when he saw you on stage. Of course the lights many times tend to create certain “illusions” on people, but for him, you look as he saw you for the very first time.
This time, however, what awakes one of his senses, his nose to be precised, is your perfume. He can smell it every time you move your hair to your right as you talk, and every time you make that movement, your aroma goes directly to his nose.
Just as he did when he listened to the piano and cello being played, he closes his eyes to let your aroma fill him and appreciate it as much as he can. Because, it seems, when you have your eyes closed, your other senses become more intense.
The next time Bucky gets to know you through his senses is when his lips are on yours.
You have agreed on meeting at a café, not too far away from David Geffen Hall, where you are rehearsing, and nearby the Tower too.
After Tony´s wedding, you two have kept in touch  —and for Bucky´s surprise, it was Tony who helped him and made easier for Bucky to keep in contact with you.
When you arrive and open the front door of the café, you can see that Bucky is already at a table, checking his phone.
“Hey, Bucky,” you tell him as he raises his head and a smile appears on his face. You take off your coat and your scarf and hang them behind your chair before taking a sit. “I´m sorry, coming here took me longer than expected.”
“Don´t worry, I´m glad you actually come,” he answers as his eyes spark of actual happinness for your presence.
You don´t say anything outloud, but you take notice of what he just said. “I´m glad you actually come”? Poor Bucky, you think, because you are sure that behind that phrase are hidden the times in which he was stood up.
And you are right.
“Where´s your instrument?”
“Oh, you were expecting me to break the peaceful atmosphere of this café by carring the cello, weren´t you?” You joke as you tuck your hair behind your ear. “We can keep them in there, those of us who have these huge instruments.” You try to change the subject and actually focus on him. “How have you been? How was your day?”
They are just simple, common questions but Bucky doesn´t remember being asked any of them. He appreciates your interest towards him, considering he has always thought of himself as someone who is not worth anybody´s time or interest.
Two hours. Two hours at the table of a small café surrounded by people walking by your side, entering and leaving the place... but none of you seem to notice any of them. To qualified the date as pleasant and comfortable is not enough.
“Do you have anything to do now?” you ask Bucky as you leave the café and put the red scarf around your neck.
“Not at all —“
“Do you want to, I don´t know, just walk? You interrupt him. “I´m having a great time with you.”
The feeling on his chest when he hears you say those final words can only be compared to the feeling of his lips on yours.
You end up standing in one of the thousand of corners of Central Park.
“Thank you for today and thank you for waiting for me at the café. I know you were there much more earlier than I.”
“How do you —?”
“The cup of coffee that was on the table when I arrived was empty and when I took it to accomodate what we order, it was cold.”
Bucky chuckles. “Thank you for coming.”
“I wouldn´t have missed it. I know we just met by I wouldn´t have missed the chance of seeing you again.”
Words have the power to heal, hurt, please, comfort, scare, destroy, create... Right now, your words are healing, comforting, hugging Bucky. He wasn´t expecting in a million years to hear those words directed to him. He wasn´t expecting words with a positive connotation to be said to him.
Without thinking it twice and leaving now behind all the nervousness and fear he had, he tucks your hair behind your ear and his hand remains on your ckeek. Bucky looks at you and your eyes confirm him that you can feel everything but horror and disgust of being here with him, especially with someone like him.
Bucky leans forward and you end up closing the gap between both of you. Your lips collide and what he is feeling inside when he touches your lips with his is indescribable.
The tender of your lips, the delicacy with which you kiss him as if he were so delicate you may break him... Just one kiss and you make him feel alive for the second time in his long, long life.
They tend to say that when you kiss someone, you feel like melting. On the contrary, the mere sensation of your lips crashing with his makes Bucky feel elevated, as if he were in another dimension.
As he is still kissing you, Bucky thinks that he wants to kiss you again and again; he wants to feel your lips every single time it is possible. Your mouth has suddenly become the source for Bucky to keep feeling alive, wanted, loved, real.
Bucky cannot believe it all started over a year ago, when he assisted to the recital your orchestra was playing. The truth is, he went because he wanted to appreciate how the orchestras of nowadays sound like.
During the 40´s, he remembers he got lost in the records he listened to. He wanted to connect to his past, to his old self, in some way, by listening again the music he used to listen to.
What he didn´t expect was to find you. However, at the beginning, it all turned out to be a platonic love, exactly as the crushes people have almost everyday of their lives at the subway, the bus, on the street with people they know most probably won´t cross paths with again.
However, he didn´t expect to find you at Tony´s wedding. Bucky did not know until the moment he saw you standing there, at the stage of the huge room, that you were playing for the wedding.
Bucky was not aware that he was going to find love and to rediscover this part of himself he one considered death, gone. It is not that he wasn´t his intention to find someone and fall in love with her, but he didn´t expect his mind and the chemicals within his mind could segregate the love he feels with so much intensity. He was sure that, after a life of suffering and living under a totally hopeless darkness, the only sensation he could feel with all his body was hatred and resentment.
But life has showed him that, as long as he is and feels alive, he would still find himself with emotions that make his heart pump of excitment and profound happiness.
And right now, Bucky feels more alive that ever. Right now, Bucky is feeling you with all his senses.
His hands on your body, more precisely on the curves of your naked body. His nerve endings of his right hand and the special, artificial nerves created specifically for his left are make it possible for him to feel your skin and he trace it as it he were appreciating velvet.
The delicacy of his touch can be compared to the delicacy with which you play the strings of your cello, careful enough not to break any of them.
Not only his hands, but the feeling of your legs around his waist while he thrusts into you takes him into a state of ectasy that is hard to compare to any other sensation.
Bucky kisses your parted lips and you open them even more to welcome his. You then find his tongue in your mouth and you crash it with yours instantly. The exquisite and exciting sensation of your tongue caressing his is beyond words.
The feeling of your pulse when he kisses your neck; the smell of your perfume, that characteristic delicate aroma in your neck and wrists that Bucky loves so much.
Hearing you moan, saying his name outloud like a prayer, and all those sounds that come from your throat are one of the best sounds he has ever heard. If you stole his heart the moment he listened to you playing the cello for the very first time, then hearing you produce all these more intimate sounds feel like a warm bullet that has just exploded into a million pieces in his chest.
Seeing you with your eyes close, your lips partly open trying to breath and get back all the air your lungs have missed because of the kisses and the moans, the veins of your throat when you involuntarily tilt your head back because of the pleasure your whole body is feeling.
However, what makes Bucky fall apart is hearing you say “I love you. I lo- love you so much, Buck,” as you try to control the pitch and the clearness of your voice as he thrusts into you.
“I love you too, doll.” “You make me feel alive,” is what he intends to say but his lungs does not have enough air to release any other sound and his vocal chords seem not to respond to his brain, they are static.
Not in a million years would Bucky have imagined that it is possible to fall over and over again for you, when all his senses are involved.
Bucky loves you when he hears you playing your cello, when he hears you singing any song stuck in your mind, when he hears you saying his name.
He loves you when he smells your perfume everytime he kisses your neck and when he leans his head in yours and he perceives the aroma of your shampoo.
Bucky loves you with every cell of his body when he sees you playing your cello at the stage, when he sees your body moving at the rhythm of music and you completely disarm him every time you look at him while you´re performing, or when you open your eyes after you come undone, or when you just turn your head and look at him over your shoulder with a smile on your face.
He loves you when he can feel you with his lips, when he kisses every inch of your body or when his tongue tastes the sweetness of your perfume on your throat every time he licks it.
And Bucky loves you because you are real and he can reaffirm it every time he touches you, when you hold hands, when he just feels the tender touch of your hands in his hair, your arms around his neck when he needs you the most.
Bucky loves you with all his body and he knows you love him with yours too because you have shown it to him since the very first time you kissed.

марсианка (KOS The Martian AU)
This started with me thinking SPACE PIRATE NIKOLAI, and then not wanting to have to google a bunch of Star Wars shit to write that AU, and then remembering Mark Watney Space Pirate, and then writing that convo out, and then this whole mess grew from that one scene, and it’s almost 2000 words. So: Space Pirate Zoya.
I know nothing about space or space agencies. I apologise so much.

He talks to her in Russian, over the coms. English is the main language of communication with Earth; it’s what she leaves her logs in, it’s what she got her climatology doctorate in even if, for the most elemental things, she looks out at the night sky and thinks, כוכב, kochav, before she hears the English. نجم, звезда, those come easily, too. And তারকা, she reminds herself. Najim, zvezda, tārakā. You play such games with your mind to keep from losing your grasp on earth, all the way up here.
Russian, though, it’s what her aunt spoke to her in, after she saved her life, in a tiny flat in a smoggy bloc of Petah Tikvah. The current pulls her home.
“Nazyalenskaya,” he drawls over the fritzy connection system, “I want to kill Rietveld.”
She quirks a smile at that; everyone has wanted to kill Rietveld. She would give a lot to want to kill Rietveld right now.
“I think you can spare him another day. If only for all the Van Halen tapes he left behind. And the ridiculous quantity of Indonesian rap.”
“I’m never going to forget about that.”
“Hmmmm, I’d be careful about talking, considering the number of romance novels I’ve found on the system, downloaded by one N. Lantsov.”
“In the face of oblivion,” she tells the crew of the Терешко́ва, “the only course of action left is to science the shit out of this.”
-
How does it feel to be the dying goddess of your own planet?
Sometimes, that’s what she feels like, when she pulls water from Rocket fuel. No one around to hear her swear.
It may be on Mars, but growing potatoes in a literal field of shit pulls her from that revery, into some kind of ancestral, rain-soaked Russian field.
She wonders, absentmindedly and only half-jokingly, if she’s gonna be here long enough that attempting to distil some vodka for the pain would be worth it.
No. She’ll pull herself out of this on pure spite alone, if she has to. It’s gotten her out of other tough places. She’ll pull herself out of this mess, and above a dust clogged atmosphere to the sky above, and all the way home. She’ll buy a cheap- no, an expensive one, it’s what Earth owes her- an expensive bottle of wine from a corner store and uncork it with her eyes out to the sea and she’ll drink life down to the dregs.
I am not going to die here.
-
Look at the stars she tells herself, and try not to feel the fear.
The first English poem she memorised through to the end. Sarah Williams, the full version, not the one chopped to a fridge-magnet length quote. Reach me down my Tycho Brahe, -- I would know him when we meet. Considering that in its entirety it’s about a scientist comprehending his own imminent mortality, it is perhaps not the best choice of reading material. You may tell the German college that their honour comes too./But they must not waste repentance on the grizzled savant’s fate; Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light; I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.”
She was a girl, once, and she wanted to get away and leave her old life in flames behind her, and she did. She ran and ran and ran, past national borders and past agencies with long acronyms and past the fiery bounds of earth herself. She ran until, quite literally, she could go no further, until she was a woman in a duct-taped house in a place no thing can live, like some kind of mid 21st century Slavic witch.
-
“Not only am I the best meterologist on earth, I’m the best fucking botanist on this planet. Best surgeon, best cook, best-” she isn’t one to lighten the mood, usually, but what else is there- “best lover.”
-
She points up, through the palm branches of the sukkah’s roof and to the night sky above.
“You can see Mars, right there? See, you can see me. It’s not that far away.”
Lada doesn’t seem convinced.
“You might not come back-”
“You think a few million kilometers is gonna stop me from getting back to my best research partner? Huh. Thought you knew me better than that.”
“A few million?”
“Closer than the nearest bus stop.”
“It’s gonna be years.”
“And so? I’ll expect you to be a proper scientist, when I get back. Or a proper poet, or painter, or chicken farmer.”
“But you’ll come back?”
“There’s nothing that can stop me.”
-
“Nazyalenskaya,” he asks, and in her name is the universe. “How are you?” is not the question to ask a lone crew member stranded literally on Mars. “We got a letter from your family. Gonna patch it through to you.”
“What do you suppose the requirements for building a sukkah on Mars are?”
Not that there’s much of a rule book for this kind of thing, but it’s something she thinks about. Humans, they look at the void and the unlivable planet, and they make it theirs. Genya’s calculations for the direction to face Mecca. The whole crew’s World Cup fervor. The solid week she and Rietveld spent in a subtle face off with the rest of the crew about using the big screen to keep up with Eurovision. The constant, unending, awkwardness of Ghafa and Rietveld, though both were far too professional to act on it.
-
“Red wire to the green and-”
“Lotta fucking duct tape, I know.”
Repairing the rover- that’s a lot of fun. She never really learned how to fix cars, back home. But it gives her something to do, something active, besides staring at potato plants.
She opens another one of her precious rovers for the parts. A weather probe. Says a silent prayer for the death of science.
It’s a long way to Schiaparelli crater. Zoya’s hated road trips for as long as she can remember, both in the environmentalist, fume-hating way, and also in the traffic-hating kind of way. So, she tells herself. Channel that spite into doing what scares you.
-
“Nazyalenskaya,” he says, “I’ve been thinking about the international implications of what you’re trying to do.”
“Mhmm” she says
“First off, I’d like to thank you for being possibly the most diplomatically complicated climatologist alive. Got Roscosmos, ISRO, and the ISA all breathing down my necks.”
“Good. Use it. Play ‘em against each other. This is either the biggest propaganda win or worst failure of their fucking lives.”
“The other thing is law on Mars. There’s an international treaty saying no country can claim anything that’s not on earth. By another treaty, if you’re not in any country’s territory, maritime law applies. So, Mars is international waters.”
Treaties, red tape, diplomatic stuff- that was never her job. Her job was making sure that six other people could breathe in space. Maintaining, linking the systems of the Hab to be survivable.
The storms, though, that was why she was really there. Or at least, that’s what pulled her from earth. The kinds of weather this galaxy had, beyond the limits of earth.
(Once upon a time, Mars had a viable atmosphere. Once upon a time. She looks out at the orange hellscape and wonders: will this be us?)
And then a storm had been her death. She was just biding her time until it happened.
Pessimism. What else was left?
“So?”
“So, Nazyalenskaya, the Hab’s a tripartite effort. ESA, Roscosmos, CNSA. Non-military, but you know as well as I do there’s enough earth-based bitching about who owns it. The second you walk outside, though, you’re in international waters. Soon-”
“No-”
“Soon you’re gonna leave it for the Schiaparelli crater, and you’re gonna commandeer the Ares lV lander. No one on earth gave you explicit permission to do this, and they can’t until you’re back with us on Терешко́ва .”
She realises where this is going. “Fucking hell, Lantsov, not more with the-”
“So you’re going to be taking a craft into international waters without permission, which by definition makes you a pirate. “
Even she cracks a smile.
“DOCTOR ZOYA NAZYALENSKAYA, SPACE PIRATE!”
She can feel the excitement down the line.
“I better get an eye patch at the end of all this.”
“Nothing less for the best meteorologist on the planet.”
“A ship. Commandeered Spanish galleon.”
“Of course.”
“Crate full of gold bullion.”
“I promise you. I think the rest of the crew’s been planning their first meal back on earth for the last year.”
“Shut the fuck up. You’re not the ones living off potatoes and protein bars.” She’d found a few secreted-away bottles of kecap manis and a jar of sambal oelek in Rietveld’s luggage, which- completely against regulations for cargo by weight, but it’s inadvertently the best thing he’s ever done for her. At least when she eats her dwindling space rations, she can burn her fucking tongue off, due to Rietveld’s stubborn Dutch insistance to never listen to any rules, ever.
“Yes, but. We’ve heard all the drafts of the epic-length poem Yul-Bataar’s written to herald you with on your return.”
“Almost makes me want to die alone on Mars.”
“Hush up. We’ve already had to watch your funeral once. I even wrote a speech.”
“I better get a recording of that when I get back,” she says. “You better have cried. You better have wept over the untimely demise of Earth’s best meteorologist.”
“You better believe it was a speech for the ages. Wait, i can find a draft and read it-”
“Save it. I want to savour my death, after I know I’m gonna live.”
“This is next level Slav gallows humour. How many people get to watch their own funerals?”
Zoya Nazyalenskaya does not giggle, but the thought of all those puffed-up world leaders saying things about her importance, her intelligence, her beauty. (Will men see anything else?)  Shedding a few tears about a brown, Jewish, Russo-Bengali meteorologist who’d they’d barely cared to listen to in her life, but here, dead, she’s the ultimate pawn in their games. . . .
It might make her laugh. Slightly.
And then she thinks about Aunt Liliyana and Lada sitting shiva for her in that flat in Haifa. The first thing she’d bought with her earnings after the ESA had taken her on was a nicer flat for the two of them, in walking distance to the sea.
“Lantsov,” she says, although it feels like exposing some part of herself she doesn’t want to recognise. “Lantsov, keep talking. Please.”
“Of course. What about?” “The crew’s first meal. Back on earth. What is it?”
“Zenik said red-velvet waffles with, quote, “a fuckton of whipped cream. An entire can of whipped cream.” Andreyev like a good Moldovan says it’s gotta be sarmale, and I swore Rietveld lives off coffee and the destruction of his enemies but I know he’s got a thing for nasi goreng and. . ..”
-
This is a dumbass long-shot solution that will probably get them all killed.
It takes a certain kind of long-shot nihilistic self-destruction to enter the airless murder void in the first place, but this is. ..
“The only thing that might work.”
Bo nods and then glares at him to shut up.
The ship’s got a big whiteboard, and Bo’s hands move almost as fast as his mouth does as he sketches, scribbles, draws, talks. They’ve got a direct, illegal, verboten, unknown, lifesaving link through to the CNSA, and as Kuwei’s the only native Mandarin speaker aboard, he’s the main one doing the talking. He’s a chemist, though, - Ghafa’s the pilot, Zhabin’s the chief navigator, and it’s a controlled frenzy of different langauges and disciplines as the crew hashes out the most wild rescue plan in human history.
“How do we know-”
“He’s the best astrodynamacist alive. Also, my dad, but-”
He, Zhabin, Ghafa and Rietveld all independently run the calculations.
Да, Да, हाँ, Ja.
“Who’s ready to go against the explicit instructions of five space agencies to bring the best space pirate alive back home?”
It was never even a choice.
-
“Zoya,” he says, over the link. “We’ll get you home.”
