r/FakeDisorderCringe doesn't know what biblical canon is, atheists are offended by saying God is plural, and other people casually throwing out some blasphemies and ableism!
Tumblr media
👎
For uncreative title.
Atheists Pretending To Be Deeply Offended...
Tumblr media
So, let me guess, you're not actually Christian are you?
Tumblr media
Those guys sure aren't.
So weird how people pretend to be offended over a religion they aren't even a part of.
(Let's be real though, that's most of the tulpa discourse.)
Tumblr media
Oh... you considered converting.
That clearly gives you a say in this conversation. /s
Meanwhile, my host actually lived the religion. He was Christian through his teenage years, and as a child helped his mom teach Sunday School and went to sleep every night on a Noah's Ark pillow.
Sorry, I distracted from your point. We're thieves stealing from a religion. 🙄
Okay, let's talk "canon!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just... I LOVE this whole conversation! 🤣
THIS is actual cringe.
Does anyone see the issue here?
I'll let u/AdSuccessful3533 spell it out. Possibly the only person with sense in the thread.
Tumblr media
It's not just Catholic Canon either, but Biblical Canon! Like, there's a whole Wikipedia article on it!
Tumblr media
The sheer self-righteous ignorance of r/Fakerdisordercringe (and r/systemscringe) never ceases to amaze me.
All of these people so bent out of shape over the use of "canon" to describe biblical text as if that's not been in use for hundreds of years!
"Something a middle schooler would say."
Tumblr media
The Heresies!
Tumblr media
That's correct. This is NOT the modalism heresy.
Modalism suggests God is a single unified being who reveals himself in different forms. God being plural would mean that God is three beings in one. This is completely in-line with the views of Trinitarianism.
An example of the modalism heresy would be more like this...
Tumblr media
Comparing God to Optimus Prime, arguing that they're just different forms like Optimus Prime in a truck form vs him in a robot form, is modalism.
But if modalism isn't enough, we've got some tritheism too!
Tumblr media
Besides the tritheism... it's really hard to take people who are calling tulpas appropriative seriously when they don't even know basic facts about the most popular religion in the world.
Also, the part about System not being a term for a person with DID is technically correct. System is, rather, the term used for the total collection of all the alters. But it is very much a term used by psychologists and it's accurate to refer to the Trinity as a system in this way.
Also, if the Tritheism bothers you, don't worry! We're going to go right back to modalism.
Tumblr media
The H2O metaphor is controversial for the same reason as comparing God to Optimus Prime. It suggests God is simply changing form to become these different things.
Miscellaneous
Tumblr media
Can you show me that rabbit hole?
I'm the one who Tweeted that, and have NEVER been on the OSDD sub.
Who do you think I am?
Tumblr media
No... it definitely doesn't sound right. Religion shouldn't just be a thing for neurotypicals.
If one believes in God, then surely God made all people, including those of us who have mental illnesses. Why should Christianity and biblical references be kept away from people with mental illness other than ableism?
Tumblr media
I mean, if by in peace, you mean without endogenic systems, then no. You can't.
We're here and we aren't going away. Ever.
And we exist in all spaces, including in your churches and your religious communities. And Christian systems shouldn't be expected to hide who they are because our existence bothers bigots like you.
We're going to share this world, and we're going to share spaces. And that includes churches and religious spaces too. Deal with it. 🤷‍♀️

I would like to thank everyone at r/fakedisordercringe for giving me the free material. For a subreddit that's designed to laugh at people for supposed "cringe," you all sure are a goldmine for it! 😜

marcy from the hush hush series deserved so much better and gave me a writing idea (for a better take on the idea of a chronically ill half angel i guess?) but i have no idea about general angel lore or anything, what would you suggest? (sorry if this is rambly im tired)
Angel lore is very loose but also very specific. That's one reason I think it's so fun.
Angels are, it shouldn't be forgotten, religious beings. They're very explicitly things which belong to certain religions, generally our main idea of them being from the big Abrahamic ones. Within that they differ a bit, but mostly exist to act as messengers from a greater divine being. Angel originally just means 'messenger'!
So when you write about angels, you need to first decide if you're doing just 'angels as a fictional species' where it's more about aesthetics and people with wings, or doing angels in relation to their original context. There's a lot of free form and stuff to explore with it and so many different takes. It's why I have two published books with radically different ideas of angels, and more unpublished ones with... even more ideas of angels!
My rough guide to your basic angel is:
-A being created to serve a divine, higher power, usually lacking or limited in free will or choice, but also very happy to serve- it is their purpose! (But what if an angel felt differently? What if one had free will?)
-Angels usually have one particular role and function and act with strict rules and bonds to fulfil it (What would it take to make an angel break that? Or question the rules?
-Acting as a guardian and messenger to humanity, who was created after them. (Humans have free will and angels do not... Humans are made in the image of the higher power and most loved by this higher power. This could be difficult for an angel to accept!)
-Beings of energy and light, capable of taking a human disguise. Angels can look and be however, and generally are understood to be genderless- as servants, they don't have those markers of 'identity' (so what if one did?)
Can you see why they can be really, really fun to explore?
(Oh, and the 'biblically accurate angels' thing... not really a thing. Pretty much just a weird internet obsession myth. Angels can be described in some wild ways, but most of what we understand to be angels are just seen as people with wings, usually though 1-3 pairs. Or really technically pure energy spirit taking that shape, as their 'true form' is really beyond human comprehension. The eye-wheel guys aren't. strictly speaking. angels. (maybe) But that's a whole other topic...)
***It's also worth noting angels are a religious concept and innately tied to religion. You can have fun with it and you can have ones divorced from that origin, but you should always be aware they aren't like, dragons: they're not fictional monsters! They have very big significance for a lot of people in a spiritual way who very much believe in them. Very different from vampires. With that too, you should be aware of things like certain concepts relating to them or lore that might be closed to outsiders or best not to touch. Do some research if you're going to use actual, real aspects

Top five aesthetics
you may perhaps notice a pattern here. just a hunch.
also in no particular order:
cosmic motifs. stars and space aesthetics in general are just really cool and i really enjoy seeing stories tie into/explore them in some way. even the thing i do where i name half of my characters after space-related things is just fun. and by that i mean there's an odd amount of symbolism in character names you wouldn't get unless you specifically looked up the stars yourself. like did you know rigel (the star) is actually the seventh brightest star in the sky and is actually marked as beta orionis despite usually being brighter than betelgeuse (its counterpart) because betelgeuse has a fluctuating luminosity thing going on so sometimes it's brighter than rigel but most of the time it's not. yeah. i really like star symbolism
biblically accurate/eldritch angel stuff. like in general. i don't think this is actually a surprise to anyone who's looked at apf and especially above for more than two seconds. i just really enjoy big fluffy bird creachures with eyes where they definitely shouldn't have eyes (and maybe some religious horror, y'know, for spice). hell i'd go far enough to say that i enjoy angels in general even if they aren't necessarily eldritch, like the sankta in arknights. now would be a good time to say that no i'm not catholic i'm like the furthest thing from it i just steal the aesthetics for sport
similarly, demons! i've always liked demons! i'm not actually very well-versed with real demonology beyond stealing names from the ars goetia but they've always been cool to me just in general. i made my sona a demon long before anything else. there's not actually a lot to say here i just think they're neat lol
black/white contrasts. to the surprise of absolutely nobody, the guy called yin likes a good old fashioned yin/yang dynamic. who could've guessed. to clarify this is not about morality because lord knows i prefer grey/grey or grey/black this is strictly like an artstyle or tone preference
technically a freebie considering i already mentioned angels (including the more eldritch variety), but lovecraftian-ish kind of beasts is always cool to see. i think i'm pretty mid at writing it in execution but man, you can just never go wrong with a big tentacle monster with many eyes. kissing optional but encouraged. does this count as an aesthetic?? fuck it does now
