Headcanons for Mammon, Leviathan, Satan, and Asmodeus with touch starved gender neutral s/o?
here you go! i hope you enjoy it at least a bit!
Mammon.
he will deny it forever, would never admit to it unless in very rare tender moments, refuse to say it out loud, but the truth is that he is kind of glad that you feel that way because it‘s the same for him.
mammon tends to hide his feelings behind harsh words, but you can notice him putting in more effort to be close to you. holding your hand as you walk together, cuddling more often and hugging you more. when you mention it he will immediately deny doing it while blushing.
even his brothers notice how much more he tries to be consciously affectionate and they will tease him about it sooner or later. he‘s fine with it, but if they start teasing you, he will get defensive only to deny it.
you mean a lot to him and he‘s your first man. he‘s happy you came to him with this and not anyone else. even if they might be better at dealing with it, are better at showing affection, but he‘s getting there.
Leviathan.
with levi, it‘s kind of obvious that he‘s touch starved too. the thing with him is that he‘s horrible embarrassed about it too though
levi can‘t handle much physical touch. he heats up, needs time to cool off and get his energy back. his type of affection is more on the side of being in the same room, spending time together and listening to each other talk. he needs to get used to anything else after not having it for so long.
most of his experience with these type of things comes from anime and manga which isn‘t really..the best source, so feel free to tell him that. it would make things less awkward in the long run.
with levi it‘s a journey of healing together, getting used to touch again as you get to know each other. he‘s doing his best but he needs your guidance too, just so he doesn‘t feel to embarrassed about not really knowing what to do.
Satan.
satan wouldn‘t say he‘s touch starved, he‘s just doesn‘t need as much attention and affection as some of his brothers. that‘s what he says if anyone asks at least. the truth is he‘s probably at least a bit touch starved as well, if only because people get nervous around him. he is the avatar of wrath after all, he‘s not seen as approachable by many people.
the point is, he doesn‘t see it as a problem for himself, however when it comes to you that‘s a different matter.
as a demon, there aren‘t really many side effects to not getting physical contact with other demons, so it comes as a surprise when humans are different in that regard. he didn‘t look into it when he read it when figuring out more about humans, but apparently it‘s more important than he thought.
the thing with satan is, he tries his best with it. but much like levi most of his idea of touch and romance comes from novels he read and not actual experience so it can get pretty awkward sometimes. but he does his best to make sure that you aren‘t touch starved anymore, no matter how awkward it might be.
Asmodeus.
asmo is probably the only one on this list that isn‘t touch starved. he‘s not shy to ask for affection or give it after all.
so you will never be touch starved again. asmo doesn’t really care for personal space and the second he decides he likes you he becomes affectionate. simple touches are a constant for him, holding hands, surprise hugs, back hugs. all of that and more are to expect with him.
he is surprisingly aware of how touch starved you are. he makes sure you’re comfortable every step of the way, wanting to show you that you don’t have to miss out on touch anymore, that he is there for you.
if you ever tell him it’s too much he will reign himself in a little. he doesn’t like making you uncomfortable so make sure to tell him if he goes overboard. he‘s hyper aware of his partner‘s reactions when it comes to these types of things and also the one with the most experience.

imagine how insufferable criston would be if his so was pregnant. she cant do anything. and he would be like maybe we should get married and she would be like why??? and he would be like we are having a baby and she would be like i dont think we should get married just bc we are having a baby??? and he would cry for a week. i like when pretty men suffer
On god he would be so annoying but also I’m just having thots about it and they’ve been multiplying in my head like bacteria. ✨Pretty men suffering✨
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First of all he’s even more possessive bc not only you’re his but you’re carrying his baby
Like gotdamn can’t even walk down the street without Criston putting his arm around you or having a hand on the small of your back and could HE STOP KISSING YOUR CHEEK WE GET IT
So then comes the whining about getting married. He simply doesn’t get coexisting without a ring and you taking his last name. Criston def gets teary when you’re like no???? Like y’all already live together, sleep in the same bed, and you’re literally having criss priss baby
“I don’t understand, don’t you want a big ring, a dress? We never got a honeymoon.” You have to remind him that honeymoon ain’t happening when there’s a baby to be taken care of!!
He’s def audibly sighing and huffing when he’s denied, again. Probably sobs in the shower bc the delusions are being CRUSHED
You think he’s kinda cute with red eyes and nose, his lips swollen. So Criston can get a pity blowie but first he has to be a mother hen and make sure you have a pillow on your knees and are comfy. He’s adorable when he whines and trembles from your mouth.
Sometimes you have to slap him a little when he’s following you around the house just MaKiNg SuRe you’re okay. Literally you just want a bagel.
As you move along in the pregnancy babes gets A Little Feral. I lied he’s insatiable. The man loves your curves and baby weight, not to mention how big your tits are getting. God forbid you’re just standing around doing something because if Criston is around he’s coming up from behind, making a comment about how pretty you are all bred up with his baby.
That also means constant groping— he can’t keep his hands off of you. Especially when Criston’s fucking you on all fours, hand possessively splayed across your rounded belly. He’s practically growling, “Look so fucking good for me, bred you up good didn’t I? When you pop out our baby m’gonna put a ring on your finger and fuck another one in you.” Which you cum quite dramatically at that, his sheer desperation is hot, and his cock is nice. Criston’s a sexy man. Delusional, but sexy.
The marriage talk is brought up again…post-coital bliss? Not in that house. Criston’s pouting, face shoved into your tits. He grumbles, “You’ll get it sooner or later. I’m going to marry you.”
“Yep baby, alright.” *cue more shower crying*
Also he’s ecstatic whether it’s a boy or girl like he’s just happy to be daddy cole🥰
Oh god when your milk comes in Criston is your personal fucking pump. He doesn’t think it’s funny when you ask him if he really likes milking cows this much. Your man is dead serious, “You’re not a cow. You’re perfect and pregnant and a goddess.” Okay go off king
But fr the fucking ramps up to a 10 in the third trimester that man is HORNY!!!!! He got in some trouble with you just mindlessly grabbing your ass at the grocery store. Dumbass had to walk around with a boner in the Walmart baby section
The day you go into labor he’s in full action mode. A true king. Look at him in he scrubs. He’s probably ugly sobbing when you’re holding the babe for the first time. It’s okay though you’re ugly sobbing too. Then the baby is ugly sobbing. Happily ever after😌
No you’re still not marrying his dumbass either

Lies Sweet Like Poison
It’s been a week and I’m still thinking about the miraculous ladybug finale. Honestly, I was expecting to hate it. For a day or two after, I still wasn’t sure if I’d liked it. It was interesting, at least. Unexpected, certainly. But now I see the brilliance of how it played out. The longer I think about it, the more aware I become of the horrors of the situation Adrien and Marinette (and the whole world, really) are in, thanks to Monarch’s wish and the identity reveals between Agreste’s Monarch and Marinette’s Ladybug.
Yes, he cured Nathalie. Yes, he finally accepted that bringing his wife back was not what she would have wanted, and so he chose death instead. Which means he also abandoned his son in favor of his dead wife, leaving Adrien’s care in the hands of people who actually loved him. So, because Emilie loved her son—even though Monarch decided not to be a father to Adrien like she asked—for his wife’s sake, he’d see Adrien looked after. And as his final selfish request, he asked Marinette—the hero of the city, the girlfriend to his son, the girl who detests liars and everything they stand for—not to tell Adrien about his identity as Monarch.
Think about it for two seconds and you’ll see how this has set Adrien and Marinette down a path towards an even more tragic, doomed romance than they have ever faced before. Marinette knows now that Monarch was Adrien’s father. Ladybug knows now that Mr. Agreste was Monarch.
For Adrien, there are four distinct tragedies waiting to be unraveled:
First, that Chat Noir’s Cataclysm would have killed his father soon, even if he hadn’t traded his life for Nathalie’s.
Second, that Monarch was his father all along. The man who had terrorized the country, and even sometimes the world, was the closest remaining family he had in this world.
Third, that Ladybug lied to everyone about the nature of the battle with Monarch, resulting in not only him, but the entire city, celebrating and venerating the man who was in fact the villain of Paris.
And finally, that Marinette, who is Ladybug, lied to Adrien himself about his own father.
They are in an impossible situation.
For Marinette to tell Adrien what she knows is inconceivable. It would a) require her to reveal her secret identity and b) utterly destroy him. Marinette doesn’t want to destroy Adrien. She loves Adrien, and she can’t bear the thought of him shouldering the guilt of his father’s sins. She thinks she is doing him a kindness (we’ll get to that).
For Ladybug to tell Chat Noir, however… He’s her partner, the one she’s always fought alongside, and perhaps the only person in the world she could confide the truth in. She doesn’t know he’s the villain’s son. What harm could telling her partner do?
Which brings me to my next point:
Let’s not forget that the reason Ladybug and Chat Noir were keeping their identities secret from each other was so that Monarch couldn’t exploit them to find each other, akumatize them, and gain their miraculous. The danger of Monarch has passed. The worst case scenario—Monarch making his wish to reshape the world in his vision—has already come and gone. So what’s keeping them from sharing their secrets now? What’s keeping them from telling each other the truth behind the mask?
The butterfly miraculous is missing.
Unable to locate it in the wreckage after the battle, Ladybug has no choice but to assume the danger of akumatization is still out there. And so their identities must remain secret.
Meaning Ladybug cannot risk telling Chat Noir Monarch’s identity. What if Chat Noir cast his suspicion onto Adrien because of the missing butterfly miraculous? What if he suspects the son of taking on the father’s mantle? What if she has to explain that Mr. Agreste sacrificed himself because he was already dying of Chat Noir’s Cataclysm? The very thing she knows Chat has always feared doing to another human being. What if he became Chat Blanc because he learned the truth? Because Marinette still remembers that something happened with Chat Blanc, even if Chat doesn’t. And I think this is a big reason that she hesitates.
What gets me here is that, it doesn’t seem like Chat Noir has even asked about the identity of the man who ‘killed’ his father. Maybe it is enough for him that Monarch is gone, and he was never that close with his father anyways, so the loss is not so great as it could be. But there are doubtless some complex emotions at play surrounding the man who imprisoned and controlled him, who has been mythologized and memorialized. Even in death, he is still manipulating Adrien.
And that’s not even to mention that Tsurugi-san is still capitalizing on the myth of Mr. Agreste’s ‘heroic sacrifice!’ Even though the Alliance rings have been melted down to create his statue, the brand, and Mr. Agreste’s legacy, are still very much in play. This is nothing more than a temporary setback.
And Marinette. She who hates liars more than anything. She who buckled under the pressure of lying to Luka about her identity. Of lying to her friends, keeping secrets from Alya. She who could not abide the deceptions of Lyla Rossi. THAT MARINETTE, now has to lie to Adrien, her boyfriend, the object of her desire, not just about her identity as Ladybug, but now also about his identity as the son of a villain, about Monarch’s identity as his father.
This is the setup for painful realizations and heart break, no matter what.
If Adrien discovers the truth of Monarch’s identity on his own, will he doubt Ladybug’s integrity? Will he assume she knew and kept the truth from him, didn’t trust him? Or will he double down on his own self-doubt and self-loathing, see this as a black mark on his soul, assume Ladybug didn’t know. She can never know. She can never find out. She’ll never trust him again. Oh God, she’ll never trust the son of the greatest villain the world has ever seen. Can he even trust himself?
Nothing but paranoia and fear lies in that direction.
If Adrien learns that Ladybug knew all along, and didn’t tell him—mistrust, broken friendship, paranoia of a different kind lies down that path. If she lied about Monarch, what else has she lied about? Does she know he’s Mr. Agreste’s son? Is that why she didn’t tell him? Why didn’t Ladybug talk to him as Adrien about it? Why would she tell the entire world that his father was a hero?
Because the only one who could have told the press is Ladybug. No one else was present for the final confrontation. Unless the wish somehow wrote the narrative in the minds of the people that Mr. Agreste helped defeat Monarch, which I consider unlikely.
If Adrien learns that Ladybug is Marinette, he may be tempted to reveal his Chat Noir identity to her in turn. After all, they are dating. Wouldn’t it be unfair for him to know her secret and not the other way around? Besides, Monarch was defeated. Sure, the butterfly miraculous is still missing, but nothing bad has happened in months. They have a whole team of superheroes working with them now. Surely it is safe.
Imagine the guilt that would eat Marinette alive when Chat tells her his identity. The gut-punch to realizing she’s been lying to both of them about his father.
If Adrien learns that Ladybug is Marinette and that Monarch was his father…did his girlfriend know? Did she know all along that his father was a villain? Did she decide to date him just to keep an eye on him? Why did she lie to him? Couldn’t she trust him? Why would Marinette prop up his father, the man who made his life a living hell, the man who broke the world, as a hero?
Imagine the whole world finding out that Ladybug lied. That is a precarious place to be in when you’re put on a pedestal like Ladybug.
And the many number of ways these truths could come to light, in whatever combination, could have disastrous consequences of varying degree, depending on how they are revealed. (I won't even get into the implications of the rings, because this post is already too long, but if we can take the subtext of the show at face value, they add an extra layer of horror to this whole situation.)
Remember when I mentioned Marinette thinks she’s doing a kindness for Adrien? In reality, she is only doing what is easiest. If Adrien doesn’t know about Monarch’s identity, then he can live on in blissful ignorance. He can be happy. Isn’t it better for him, not knowing? It was his father’s dying wish, after all.
She is manipulating him just as Monarch did
Though in a different way and with different intentions. She isn’t trusting him, or the world, with bearing the truth.
And she is allowing doubts about the nature of his father’s character to creep in. Mr. Agreste has always been larger than life to Adrien, a controlling force too powerful to overcome until only very recently. When his control started slipping, his grip tightened, and he used a power we have only seen alluded to to control him. Then he even went so far as to imprison him, using him as little more than a prop for his brand, another cog in his dastardly scheme.
All of these truths, these glimpses at Mr. Agreste’s dark intentions, are cast in shadow by the massive, gleaming statue in the center of Paris. This monolith to a fabrication, to a false heroic sacrifice, bearing the figure of a misleading martyr. It muddles, obscures, hides. Adrien can no longer see that his father is not a great man, but rather a terrible one, unworthy of his admiration and love.
Marinette hasn’t freed him from his father’s influence by not sharing the truth; she has trapped him in a new gilded cage, built of pretty falsehoods made to keep him content. The lies seem sweet like honey, a balm to aid a suffering soul, to ease the loss of a loved one. But when swallowed, they become bitter like poison. And they will eventually take their toll.
I leave you with the words Adrien spoke to Marinette after she slipped his father’s rings onto his finger.
“When I’m with you, I feel so…free.”
To feel freedom and to actually have freedom are not the same. Only when he has the truth will he also finally have his freedom. But at what cost?

jonah ashford. 32. ex-firefighter / now hunter. pansexual. face claim: oliver stark
Tumblr media
below the cut you can find a few things about jonah . . .
his dad, evan ashford, was best friends with john winchester and bill harvelle. evan was also there the night that bill died and tried to save him at the last minute but was too late to do so.
grew up with the harvelles and they are like his second family. growing even closer once bill died and he and evan spent a lot more time at the roadhouse
jonah didn't fully get into hunting until around the season five timeline. he actually worked as a firefighter at a firehouse near where the roadhouse is. only did a few scattered hunts here and there if evan needed him or if a random hunter friend of ellen's was short a hand on a hunt
after ellen and jo die, jonah fully falls into hunting to honor them and protect the world they left behind. unfortunately it meant teaming up with the winchesters who he is wary of considering the death that follows them just like it followed john
evan dies in season 2 at the same time ash does because he also was in the roadhouse to help out ellen with the busier crowd when the attack happened

okay, i watched the movie honor society with angourie rice and gaten matarazzo yesterday and i have THOUGHTS i need to talk about it because i literally can’t stop thinking about it (spoilers ahead, don’t click if you haven’t seen the movie and intend to)
that plot twist???? that plost twist is the reason why i have trust issues. NEVER EVER TRUST A MAN OH MY GOD. and most importantly, NEVER JEOPARDIZE YOUR CHANCES OF SUCCESS BECAUSE OF A MAN, this is probably the most valuable lesson this movie has taught us. not the friends we make along the way, not the self-growth, but NEVER TO TRUST A MAN.
honestly i was lowkey sad because i was really rooting for honor and michael, it was the perfect trope of “smart popular girl falls for smart nerdy outcast boy” and the characters were just so cute together but??? okay i know she played dirty as well because her original plan was to make him fail his midterms to be n°1 on the harvard list but he only was the worst??? because the way her voice shatters and her eyes tear up when she realizes he only used her and never was genuine, and how he literally doesn’t give a sh*t??? my heart broke with hers honestly.
but apart from that gut-wrenching betrayal, this movie was actually really good, didn’t go in with a lot of expectations but i ended up enjoying it a lot. the characters were endearing (even honor who starts as a power-hungry, ruthless and calculative person to eventually soften up and care more about others than herself), the dialogues were clever and funny, and the conclusion was actually very sweet.
and mostly, the way it reversed the “happily-ever-after because of guy” and the “nice-guy” tropes was very satisfying to watch because i genuinely expected it to be yet another cliché and predictable rom-com where the characters end up in a relationship, but instead the guy turns out to be a selfish prick, she decides to be selfless by helping her friend getting into harvard and realizes she made really good friends, and that was both empowering and heartwarming.
on that note, f michael, that little sorry b*tch who lied about being in a foster home to get back at her (disgusting) and, obviously, f that trashbag of a pervert guidance counselor - i admit this plot was a bit unncessary and very very gross, but at least, it was worth it in the end since she used it against him.
so yeah, this movie hit a lot harder than i would’ve thought and it was a really good watch!! i highly recommand it

So even though I watched it a couple of weeks ago, the TWD final season is still in my head. And I just had some more thoughts about two topics:
1) Leah: While I didn't like Leah as a love interest for Daryl (which they made pretty clear that she was not going to be from the outset of when Daryl saw her again), and while I thought she was...an extreme character, I actually liked this iteration of her compared to when we saw her last. She still had the same issues, wanting Daryl to choose her and be all for her, having that concern about loyalty and I daresay devotion. But, she was an actual badass, until things went to shit. I was stuck on this story I'm trying to write and it actually helped to dissolve that block because she literally physically represented everything that has been in my head for a character for ages but could never find the right visual to represent them. So maybe that's why I'm more kindly inclined towards that part of the season for Daryl (not to mention, imho that faction was way more heart-pounding-terror inducing for Daryl than the Commonwealth arc but that's just my opinion).
2) Caryl: When it comes to Daryl and Carol, I know I've said it before but I really am happy with how they left it. Tbh, Daryl was never one of my favorite characters (Carol was more so). Don't get me wrong, I like him, I like how Norman plays him, he's obviously very important to the story, but I think I personally connected more with Rick's story than I did Daryl's for example, even Negan compared to him I think. But I always loved the Caryl dynamic and it became my OTP. But, with Daryl, I never really looked too closely at his character but considering they never really gave him a romance on the show that included the physical (except Leah and we all saw how that one turned out), I do wonder, considering Daryl's sometimes still wanting to be off on his own, if perhaps the Caryl "I love you" at the end of the finale was as far as Angela Kang felt that she could go with that relationship, along with Norman and Melissa.
The reason I say that is Daryl had Beth, right? While it didn't go canon per se, there was a strong hint there. He lets her in, little by little, but they only get as far as some lingering looks basically, right? Daryl cares about Beth but then he loses her.
Connie comes along and it's obvious that he likes her. Connie cares about him and vice versa, even Carol picks up on it. He loses her but then gets her back, even with Carol encouraging him to do something about it. He never does, and it's clear by the end of the finale that while he cares about Connie, it feels like it's settled more into a friendship, especially for Connie. He's comfortable with where it's at. She's alive, happy, healthy as possible, and living her life safely. That's all he can ask for her, right?
We also have Leah. While he hooked up with Leah and possibly even fell in love with her for a time (I'd have to go back and watch this episode, I don't remember if they had this convo or not), eventually Leah leaves and he doesn't think he'll ever see her again. Even though he made the tough decision to give up his family for her as she had been demanding of him (which as a side note is obviously not healthy). He didn't want to give them up but he cared about her that much that he was going to give it a shot. (again, I really need to rewatch that episode, forgive me if I'm forgetting anything) Then when he sees her again, she's part of this extreme faction, he has to play on their old connection to stay alive and suss out the situation. When he realizes she might not be as extreme as her leader, he trusts her with the truth and very quickly finds out it was the wrong move. Leah still lives by that old ideology: you're either with me or with them, and now it's to the extreme. He mercifully lets her live and then is forced to kill her in order to save Maggie's life later on.
So all in all, Daryl has not had the greatest run when it comes to possibly-romantic (and sexual) relationships with the women he has come to care for in more than a familial or friendship way. The two women who mean the most to him on that scale (Carol, Connie - when in comparison to people like Maggie for example) are yes, still alive and he is able to do something about it, but he chooses not to.
I don't remember the exact explanation about Daryl's character back in the day but we know he's not from the comics and this is obviously not a romance-focus show. That doesn't mean romance can't happen (i.e. Richonne, Cazekiel, Glen x Maggie) but it's not the core that all other events of the show revolve around. My point being, Daryl wasn't created for that reason.
So my thinking on this, after seeing him not doing anything about Connie and thinking back to Beth, and seeing Daryl taking off again in the finale to be on his own (yes, this does set up the spinoff but it's also integral to his character I think, he's still restless, not able to settle in fully), I'm thinking that this is a make-up of his character that AK chose to stay true to. While Daryl lived in Alexandria, he still went out past the gate. He was able to live as he liked, like we see him doing in the finale. When he lived in the Commonwealth, he wasn't able to do as he liked, but he did it for two reasons: Judith and RJ. Those were the roots that were tying him down, meaning that was the only thing he was willing to put roots down for I mean. When things are made better by the end, he no longer has to do that.
How does this all relate to Caryl and their ending? Because AK took it as far as could go without A) betraying Daryl's character & B) keeping his character open for the spinoff. If there wasn't a spinoff, I still think AK would have gone this way. What Daryl has with Carol isn't sexual in nature. Which is interesting when you compare Leah to Carol, where Melissa herself talked about how there was mirroring going on between Carol and Leah in that episode where Daryl meets Leah. And there is: Dog is a big link between the two, for example. So not only do we have that connection between these two women in his life, Carol is the antithesis of Leah if you think about it. Daryl had sex with Leah, and he was giving up his family for her even though he didn't really want to. She made him choose. Carol and Daryl don't have a sexual relationship, and she has never made him choose her over the family, or even wanted him to. While Daryl wasn't happy with Rick when he kicked Carol out back in the earlier seasons, Carol never wanted to find Daryl in order to get him to choose her over the group, even after she came back.
So this ILY scene in the finale actually holds way more meaning than I think some people are giving it credit for. As we know, Carol loves Daryl for who he is, how he is. She doesn't make demands of him or insists he change the core aspects of who he is. Not in the way Leah did for example. Beth and Connie I don't think would have either, but they were never connected to Leah in the way Carol had been.
And if we go further, Carol has always been connected to the other ladies, not just Leah. Beth was stuck in the same hospital as Carol, both taken from Daryl while he was with them solely. Carol is there to see Beth die. Connie was lost due to Carol's actions/choices and she feels guilty due to it, it's why Daryl is so mad at her and it causes friction in their own relationship, and she never stops giving hope to Kelly. Carol has always been connected.
So for her to also mirror/be connected to the one woman we see Daryl get physical with and get the closest he's ever been to a verbal ILY in the show, it means exactly what we've been saying: Daryl loves Carol and vice versa. So that ILY holds way more weight than I think most people realize. Was it a kiss? No. Was it them getting married or them riding off for a makeshift honeymoon? No. But we got the confirmation. In a way that was true to Daryl's character, their relationship (who he has the most intimacy with emotionally and shares tender touches and embraces with), and having an unfinished air about it with hope for the future.
I did not see the Talking Dead so I have no idea if the actors were asked about this scene or not, but considering the story and how this occurred in that story, it completely makes sense why AK decided to go this route for them.
And Daryl being told he can still be happy too (alluding to him having to find it) isn't because Carol isn't it for him or he hasn't fallen in love yet. It's to keep things open for the spinoff while Daryl is still restless. Daryl is a guy, imho, that will always be on the move. Even if he married Carol, let's say, and they had a huge family of their own, there is no way that Daryl won't become restless during that time and still go out beyond the gate, for days at a time. He's not Rick or Negan or Eugene; that's not who he is. I think he even confirms that when telling the story of the hiding spot he used to go to when he was a kid, to hide until his dad fell asleep. While it's sad that he had to do that, it's what he became used to. Even when he had Merle, he was always on his own. I hate to use the word 'drifter' or 'nomad' but that's basically what he is. No matter how happy or settled he might be in other areas of his life. That's another reason why Dog is so appealing for his story line: Dog can go with him anywhere he goes. Dog can settle into Alexandria 3.0 or he can be on the road for days at a time. (not comparing Carol to a dog obviously but you get my point)
So for Carol to be saying goodbye to him, for them to mention how Carol has the new job now (as a reason why she can't go anywhere with him), it isn't just for the spinoff. It's because they're telling you this is why we're doing things this way; this is who they are together. And for them to have both characters saying ILY to each other (yes, even without the kiss), they're telling you all you need to know.
Tumblr media
This is who has taken residence in his heart. And because of who he is, that ILY was as far as they could have taken it at that moment. Or else we would have seen him do something about Connie when she came back, or we would have seen more romance for him in the show. But that's not who he is.

the thing is that they're so fascinated by sex, they love sex, they can't imagine a world without sex - they need sex to sell things, they need sex to be part of their personality, they need sex to prove their power - but they hate sex. they are disgusted by it.
sex is the only thing that holds their attention, and it is also the thing that can never be discussed directly.
you can't tell a child the normal names for parts of their body, that's sexual in nature, because the body isn't a body, it's a vessel of sex. it doesn't matter that it's been proven in studies (over and over) that kids need to know the names of their genitals; that they internalize sexual shame at a very young age and know it's 'dirty' to have a body; that it overwhelmingly protects children for them to have the correct words to communicate with. what matters is that they're sexual organs. what matters is that it freaks them out to think about kids having body parts - which only exist in the context of sex.
it's gross to talk about a period or how to check for cancer in a testicle or breast. that is nasty, illicit. there will be no pain meds for harsh medical procedures, just because they feature a cervix.
but they will put out an ad of you scantily-clad. you will sell their cars for them, because you have abs, a body. you will drip sex. you will ooze it, like a goo. like you were put on this planet to secrete wealth into their open palms.
they will hit you with that same palm. it will be disgusting that you like leather or leashes, but they will put their movie characters in leather and latex. it will be wrong of you to want sexual freedom, but they will mark their success in the number of people they bed.
they will crow that it's inappropriate for children so there will be no lessons on how to properly apply a condom, even to teens. it's teaching them the wrong things. no lessons on the diversity of sexual organ growth, none on how to obtain consent properly, none on how to recognize when you feel unsafe in your body. if you are a teenager, you have probably already been sexualized at some point in your life. you will have seen someone also-your-age who is splashed across a tv screen or a magazine or married to someone three times your age. you will watch people pull their hair into pigtails so they look like you. so that they can be sexy because of youth. one of the most common pornography searches involves newly-18 young women. girls. the words "barely legal," a hiss of glass sand over your skin.
barely legal. there are bills in place that will not allow people to feel safe in their own bodies. there are people working so hard to punish any person for having sex in a way that isn't god-fearing and submissive. heteronormative. the sex has to be at their feet, on your knees, your eyes wet. when was the first time you saw another person crying in pornography and thought - okay but for real. she looks super unhappy. later, when you are unhappy, you will close your eyes and ignore the feeling and act the role you have been taught to keep playing. they will punish the sex workers, remove the places they can practice their trade safely. they will then make casual jokes about how they sexually harass their nanny.
and they love sex but they hate that you're having sex. you need to have their ornamental, perfunctory, dispassionate sex. so you can't kiss your girlfriend in the bible belt because it is gross to have sex with someone of the same gender. so you can't get your tubes tied in new england because you might change your mind. so you can't admit you were sexually assaulted because real men don't get hurt, you should be grateful. you cannot handle your own body, you cannot handle the risks involved, let other people decide that for you. you aren't ready yet.
but they need you to have sex because you need to have kids. at 15, you are old enough to parent. you are not old enough to hear the word fuck too many times on television.
they are horrified by sex and they never stop talking about it, thinking about it, making everything unnecessarily preverted. the saying - a thief thinks everyone steals. they stand up at their podiums and they look out at the crowd and they sign a bill into place that makes sexwork even more unsafe and they stand up and smile and sign a bill that makes gender-affirming care illegal and they get up and they shrug their shoulders and write don't say gay and they get up, and they make the world about sex, but this horrible, plastic vision of it that they have. this wretched, emotionless thing that holds so much weight it's staggering. they put their whole spine behind it and they push and they say it's normal!
this horrible world they live in. disgusted and also obsessed.
#this shifts gender so much bc it actually affects everyone#yes it's a gendered phenomenon. i have written a LOT about how different genders experience it. that's for a different post.#writeblr#ps my comments about seeing someone cry -- this is not to shame any person#and on this blog we support workers.#at the same time it's a really hard experience to see someone that looks like you. clearly in agony. and have them forced to keep going.#when you're young it doesn't necessarily look like acting. it looks scary. and that's what this is about - the fact that teens#have likely already been exposed to that definition of things. because the internet exists#and without the context of healthy education. THAT is the image burned into their minds about what it looks like.#it's also just one of those personal nuanced biases -#at 19 i thought it was normal to be in pain. to cry. to not-like-it. that it should be perfunctory.#it was what i had seen.#and it didn't help that my religious upbringing was like . 'yeah that's what you get for premarital. but also for the reference#we do think you should never actually enjoy it lol'#so like the point im making is that ppl get exposed to that stuff without the context of something more tender#and assume .... 'oh. so it's fine i am not enjoying myself'. and i know they do because I DID.#he was my first boyfriend. how was i supposed to know any different#i didn't even have the mental wherewithal to realize im a lesbian . like THAT used to suffering.

Truths that Co-Exist
Barbie (2023) is a giant product placement that profits off nostalgia.
The writing is profound and life-changing and understands why we seek nostalgia in a way most nostalgia-driven entertainment doesn’t.
The film is self-aware about how even now, Barbie dolls set incredibly unrealistic beauty standards. Their “body diversity” does not even scratch the surface of what that phrase really means. I don’t expect this to change.
The film still made a beautiful statement with the scene on the bench about how societal beauty standards are narrow and restrictive! And that beauty comes from experiencing life and the marks it leaves on you!
Its feminist statements are validating. Many of us see our reality onscreen, and the great thing is that it includes how cishet men fall down a pipeline of toxic hypermasculinity. It also shows the solution, and allows men to express themselves despite what society expects them to be.
The film is a capitalist venture.
The cast (aside from the leads) and crew were probably overworked and severely underpaid during filmmaking.
We can still appreciate that something fun was made, and we all made another wonderful memory where we and our loved ones went to the movies color-matching in pink.
We should not feel guilty about seeing ourselves in this film.
Meanwhile, support the WGA and SAG-Aftra strike.

honestly it was a red flag when bbc sherlock went “well obviously the word written in blood isn’t the german word for revenge, it’s clearly the beginning of the name ‘rachel’, what absolute idiot would fail to see that” when in the original novel it is, in fact, the german word for revenge, which sherlock points out gleefully to a roomful of policemen who all figure it’s the beginning of the name ‘rachel.’
and by red flag I mean it was a clear sign that the adaptation was trying to one-up the source material, instead of engaging with it with love.
