Hi there,
My name is peridotglimmer, also known as Belle or SugarsweetRomantic around these parts. I'm a queer Deaf mum to a toddler living in the Netherlands, an avid fic reader and writer for many different fandoms, and as difficult as I find to say this:
I need help.
Over the last months, I've been coming to the realisation that my wife, who I've been with since I had just turned 17, is abusive. And I need to get myself and our son out as soon as possible, as safely as possible.
My wife has isolated me from everyone IRL, including my parents and friends, and controls every aspect of my life.
This entire situation has had an immense effect on my own mental health, which means I'm currently on disability income myself. That's just enough to pay for bills and groceries. She also controls what we spend money on, which means it's nearly impossible for me to set any money aside. I'm trying to save up as much as I can, but I'm not reaching the amount I need to get out anytime soon.
I have two major issues that I need to take care of:
I need a passport. I fear I'll need to flee when I break this whole cyst open, so to speak. I can take shelter with a friend in the UK, but Brexit means my European ID card isn't enough to enter the UK. A passport costs approximately 85 euros, and I'll also need to get photos taken for it. My wife tracks my location 24/7, but I have some opportunities to get to town hall and get it without her knowing. Getting to my friend would be cheapest by taking a train, then a plane, and then a bus. From that point, they will be able to help me out, and I will be able to support myself as well.
I do not have custody of our son. She's been saying I have to earn custody of him, but it's not looking like she'll ever grant me custody. I'll potentially have to take her to court for that, and I will. I refuse to give up on my son. He's the love of my life, and my motivation to create a better life for us both.
If any of you reading this is in the position to help out financially, I would be eternally grateful. The easiest way to do so, is via Ko-Fi, and thus, I'll link mine below. Please only help out if you can miss the money.
I'll be eternally grateful for any help I might receive. Reblogs are greatly appreciated, thank you in advance. I'm terrified, but determined. I have to get out.
Love, Belle

The main international airport in the Netherlands issued an apology on Monday after two Israeli women, including a former Hamas hostage, were allegedly harassed and publicly humiliated by a security worker.
“It is clear that the two passengers did not feel that they were treated appropriately. We regret and apologize for this,” Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport said in a statement. “We will make sure that such situations do not happen again in the future.”
The incident in question took place on Friday when the Israeli women, one of whom was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7 and later freed from captivity in Gaza, were attempting to go through airport security for their El Al flight back to Israel. When handing over their Israeli passports for inspection, the airport security officer, reportedly of Pakistani origin and Muslim faith, approached them in an aggressive way.
The officer singled them out for being in the wrong security line, told them to move, and then threatened to fine them, Israeli news website Ynet reported. The worker then proceeded to remove them from the line and began to scream at them, reportedly making derogatory remarks about the fact that they are Israeli.
An escort for the women then called Israel’s embassy in the Netherlands, which in turn called El Al’s security team at the airport. The airline’s security team cleared the situation and assisted the Israeli women in getting to their flight gate.
The escort, who was not named, said in a statement to Israeli media it was “as if we had committed some terrible crime … I have never had such a humiliating experience. Everything was intentional — it was very clear that he saw the Israeli passport and it ignited him. We felt attacked and humiliated. He had evil in his eyes.”
The Israeli Embassy in the Netherlands said it will be filing a formal complaint over the incident.
“This is especially painful considering all the trauma the abductee has already suffered,” Modi Ephraim, the Israeli ambassador to the Netherlands, told Dutch media.
It was not clear from the airport’s apology whether disciplinary action was taken against the security worker.
According to reports, the two women were part of a delegation sent by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to speak to groups about the experience of hostages who were held in captivity by Hamas terrorists.
In common with other European countries, antisemitism has skyrocketed  in the Netherlands since the Oct. 7 Hamas pogrom in Israel, with an 800 percent increase in the number of antisemitic incidents recorded in the weeks immediately following the terrorist group’s atrocities.
Friday’s incident came just two weeks after a local Jewish civil rights group in Britain charged that two Israeli nationals who survived Hamas’ Oct. 7 massacre across southern Israel were detained and subjected to discrimination while being processed at Manchester Airport in the United Kingdom.

[NYT is US Media]
The newspaper was the recipient of United States government grants and was printed on an American government-financed printing press operated by Freedom House, an American organization that describes itself as "a clear voice for democracy and freedom around the world." In addition to the United States, several European countries -- Britain, the Netherlands and Norway among them -- have helped underwrite programs to develop democracy and civil society in this country. The effort played a crucial role in preparing the ground for the popular uprising that swept opposition politicians to power.
"Of course, this infrastructure had an influence," said one European election observer. [...]
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Kyrgyzstan quickly became an aid magnet with the highest per-capita foreign assistance level of any Central Asian nation. Among the hundreds of millions of dollars that arrived came a large slice focused on building up civil society and democratic institutions. Most of that money came from the United States, which maintains the largest bilateral pro-democracy program in Kyrgyzstan because of the Freedom Support Act, passed by Congress in 1992 [...] Hundreds of thousands more filter into pro-democracy programs in the country from other United States government-financed institutions like the National Endowment for Democracy. That does not include the money for the Freedom House printing press or Kyrgyz-language service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, a [US Congress funded] pro-democracy broadcaster.
"It would have been absolutely impossible for this to have happened without that help," said Edil Baisolov, who leads a coalition of nongovernmental organizations, referring to the uprising last week. Mr. Baisolov's organization is financed by the United States government through the National Democratic Institute.[...]
Those Kyrgyz who did not read Russian or have access to the newspaper listened to summaries of its articles on Kyrgyz-language Radio Azattyk, the local United States-government financed franchise of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.[...]
Other independent media carried the opposition's debates. Talk shows, like "Our Times," produced in part with United States government grants, were broadcast over the country's few independent television stations, including Osh TV in the south, where the protests that led to Mr. Akayev's ouster began. Osh TV expanded its reach with equipment paid for by the State Department. "The result is that the society became politicized, they were informed," Mr. Kim said. "The role of the NGO's and independent media were crucial factors in the revolution."[...]
Mr. Akayev began suggesting that the West was engaged in a conspiracy to destabilize the country. A crudely forged document, made to look like an internal report by the American ambassador, Stephen Young, began circulating among local news organizations. It cast American-financed pro-democracy activities as part of an American conspiracy.[...]
The American Embassy sent Freedom House two generators the day after the power went out, allowing the press to print nearly all of the 200,000 copies of MSN's special issue[...]
MSN informed people in the north of the unrest in the south. The newspaper also played a critical role in disseminating word of when and where protesters should gather. "There was fertile soil here, and the Western community planted some seeds," said one Western official. "I'm hoping these events of the past week will be one of those moments when you see the fruits of your labors."
Wow I wonder why Kyrgyzstan might treat foreign NGOs as suspect. Probably because of Poutine

We took our Carol trip!
Tumblr media
December 10, 2023, my good friend Sarah and I piled in my small Kia and made the 1 hr 40 min trip from Indianapolis, IN to see Cincinnati and Chevoit, Ohio shooting locations from 2015's "Carol." It's the only winter movie that matters to me. Here are some of the key locations we visited.
Tagging: @belivet, @pacinos, @lesbin
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shillito Center and art deco exteriors in Cincinnati.
Shillito Center was a department store with art deco features including the beautiful clock pictured above. This was the exterior of Frankenberg's in the film. The Shillito's department store has closed but the beautiful building has been turned into luxury loft apartments!
The other buildings of note were the Bell Telephone Company's "Cincinnati Bell" building--my friend noticed that the decorative border on the building is comprised of a stone pattern of old rotary telephones! The exterior of the now-Hilton Cincinnati is another Carol shooting site, which doubled as New York City's Drake hotel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the exquisite Hilton Cincinnati at Netherland Plaza. As you can see, the art deco influence is strong and the rooms are gorgeous and grand. We were hungry and wanted to have lunch but the only available menu was the Dickens breakfast buffet, priced at a formidable $89! So we enjoyed a drink and a bowl of peanuts at the bar. A quartet of professional singers in Victorian costumes sang Christmas Carols beautifully in the background. The bartender was dressed like they used to dress, in a beautiful tailored slacks, shirt, and vest uniform. He did not work at the Hilton in 2014-2015 but was delighted by our quest. The entryway to the hotel is known as the "Hall of Mirrors," inspired by Versailles.
Tumblr media
This is the stone bathroom structure at Eden Park, which was the setting for the Christmas tree farm impromptu photography session. My friend watched Carol to prepare (she called it "fun homework") and I prepared by finding a tam o shanter hat at a thrift store. My parents had the scarf, blonde fur coat, faux fur hat, as part of their repository of items from doing over 25 years of community theater together. The rest of my clothing items are a regular part of my wardrobe. I vacillate between eras but I love 40s, 50s, and 60s best of all. I also think it's likely they filmed the scene of Therese and Richard on bicycle going through a park at Eden Park as well, but can't be totally sure.
Tumblr media
Finally, Maury's Tiny Cove Restaurant in Chevoit, Cincinnati is the setting of the first lunch between Carol and Therese. The booth they used for shooting has been preserved and I reserved it ahead of time, although surrounding booths also have pictures from filming hanging over them. It's been long enough that the server didn't know much about the film but told us that a group of excited college students ate there once and requested the same meal Carol and Therese ordered in the movie. I had lasagna as we had not eaten much all day, and a Santa Cosmopolitan from their holiday menu. The food was wonderful and it was obvious a lot of people are regulars. We noted that there are glass windows over the booths now, unlike in the movie, probably added during the height of Covid.
Bonus, but a disappointment:
Carol & Rindy's beautiful house at Grandin Rd has been completely re-done and now looks nothing like in the movie:
Tumblr media
And, "that's that"! A truly special and memorable experience.
Here is a link to a Google Drive with all of the unedited photos and videos we took if you want to see anything in original quality/detail. We shot video of the photography scene but it was mostly goofy and unusable haha.
We talked about the movie some and Sarah asked me which character was the best fit for my personality. Hands down, Abby. I was wide-eyed Therese once, never glam enough for Carol, but Abby will tell you the truth and not blush from it. My hero!

Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s 18th Birthday Gifts
The Norwegian royal court has released the annual public gift list and the gifts received by Princess Ingrid Alexandra for her 18th birthday are included. They released a list and some photos this summer but this one is a little more detailed. Someone sent it to me and I realized that I never made a post about the jewelry she received like I did for her confirmation a couple of years ago so here it is.
King Harald & Queen Sonja
Diamond Ring - The ring was formerly a gift to Queen Sonja from her parents, Karl August and Dagny Haraldsen, in 1954.
Tumblr media
Diamond Bracelet - This was originally owned by Crown Princess Märtha and then by Princess Ragnhild. The bracelet along with the earrings and necklace below are items that were returned to the mainline after Princess Ragnhild passed away in 2012 and are now being given to Princess Ingrid Alexandra.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Earrings - They belonged to Crown Princess Märtha and then to Princess Ragnhild. I’m not sure which earrings these are because they didn’t release a picture.
Necklace - This is the most exciting item to me and the person who sent me the list since it had a bunch of emojis next to it. A picture was not released so we don’t know which necklace it is just that it belonged to Queen Maud and then to Princess Ragnhild. Princess Ragnhild had several that I don’t know the provenance of like this emerald necklace and Queen Maud had several that are lost in the wind like the Pearl Necklace Tiara and the ruby necklace from Queen Victoria. If I had to guess I would say that it’s not any of those and probably a diamond rivière necklace. There are multiple ones in the family that belonged to Queen Maud and at least one that went to Princess Ragnhild but they are really impossible to tell apart so keep an eye out for Princess Ingrid Alexandra wearing one.
King Willem Alexander & Queen Maxima of the Netherlands - January Birthstone Multi Ring Garnet by Anna+Nina
Tumblr media
Crown Prince Frederik & Crown Princess Mary of Denmark - Esme Galaxy Earrings by Dulong Fine Jewelry
Tumblr media
Princess Elisabeth of Belgium, Duchess of Brabant - Ruby, Pearl, & Blue Topaz Moon Earrings by Percossi Papi
Tumblr media
Sámi Parliament - Fápmu Earrings, Ring, and Necklace and Árbevierru Hair Clip by Erica Huuva
Tumblr media
Sámi Parliament's Youth Policy Committee - Komsekule (a traditional Sámi design meant to offer protection) Earrings and Necklace by Juhls Silver Gallery
Tumblr media
Norwegian Children and Youth Council - Coco Pearl Necklace by Biehl
Tumblr media
The Crown Prince Couple’s Foundation - daisy bracelet by Georg Jensen (They didn’t release a picture of this one and Georg Jensen makes several different daisy bracelets but I assume it’s one of the classic gold with white enamel styles like these.)
Tumblr media
Princess Ingeborg’s Pearl Circle Tiara was not included in the annual gift list which is only for public and official gifts not private ones but we know that it was given to her for her 18th birthday by Haakon, Ingeborg, and Ragnhild Lorentzen at the request of their mother, Princess Ragnhild.

Where was The Couple Next Door filmed? Filming locations in Yorkshire and Belgium
Channel 4 called the steamy new series 'an addictive, emotional roller coaster'
Tumblr media
The Couple Next Door is a new six-part series that begins on Channel 4 this evening (Monday 27 November).
Described by the broadcaster as “a deliciously dark, psychological drama, exploring the claustrophobia of suburbia and the fallout of chasing your deepest desires”, the series stars Poldark’s Eleanor Tomlinson, Outlander’s Sam Heughan, and Outnumbered’s Hugh Dennis.
What is The Couple Next Door about?
Tumblr media
Eleanor Tomlinson stars as Evie in ‘The Couple Next Door’ (Photo: Channel 4)
When Evie (Tomlinson) and Pete (Alfred Enoch) move into an upscale neighbourhood, they find themselves in a world of curtain twitching and status anxiety.
The pair, who are expecting their first child, soon find friendship in the shape of the couple next door, alpha traffic cop, Danny, and his wife, glamorous yoga instructor, Becka.
“As time goes on, these two couples get increasingly close to each other and on one fateful night, become sexually entangled in a way that will change their lives for ever…”.
Adapted from the hit Dutch series New Neighbours, the show is directed by Dries Vos (Suspect, Professor T) and written by David Allison (Bedlam, Marcella), with Channel 4 calling it “an addictive, emotional roller coaster and looks at how we never know what goes on behind closed doors.”
Where was The Couple Next Door filmed?
Filming for The Couple Next Door took place in Leeds, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Some scenes were shot on Baildon Moor near Bradford in West Yorkshire in April 2023.
Tumblr media
Baildon Moor in West Yorkshire (Photo: Tim Lamper/Getty)
The picturesque location has scenic views across the Aire Valley to the south and west and Rombald’s Moor to the north.
It’s also home to a Bronze Age stone circle believed to be 3,000 years old.
Director Dries Vos said: “It is set in Leeds, but the houses and streets, everything feels a bit off.
“The suburbs in Mr and Mrs Smith were one of our references as well as certain European ideas so it’s like a melange of looks that, especially during the nights, can look like a fairy tale. There are a lot of dream sequences in there as well. And so, all these add up. It feels a little bit off, and not too realistic, and that’s what I like about it.”
He continued: “A lot is filmed in Belgium because we are a Belgium-based company, but we couldn’t find the right street there and filmed the external shots in a street in the Netherlands.
Tumblr media
The fictional street in ‘The Couple Next Door’ (Photo: Channel 4)
“The area has different quarters, each supposedly representing a different country, so it’s wonderful because it’s the perfect place. There’s a French quarter, there’s an American quarter, there’s an Italian quarter and there’s an English quarter. It is extraordinary.
“Logistically we had to block the roads as the cars had to drive on the left. I was worried the cast would feel strange about Belgium, but it turned out well, I think. They all loved the way we work. We’re a very small crew, but also a very flexible one, so that was completely new for them to see how fast we could work.”
Who stars in The Couple Next Door?
Poldark‘s Eleanor Tomlinson stars as Evie, with Alfred Enoch (How to Get Away with Murder) playing her husband Pete.
Their glamorous new neighbours include Danny, played by Outlander‘s Sam Heughan (Danny), and Becka, played by Jessica De Gouw (The Secrets She Keeps), a married couple who welcome them into their lives.
Other cast members include Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered) and Kate Robbins (After Life).

THE FIRST SINGLE … ˗ˏˋ ꒰ ♡ ꒱ ˎˊ˗
“GIRLS DON’T CRY” is the debut single by CHOUKA AIKAWA. Released on April 5th, 2024, the song went on to top charts in various countries. Hailed as one of the best debuts of 2024, critics and fans alike fell in love with the song’s “girlish” and carefree production, and praised how Chouka stayed so true to her hyperfeminine, “princesscore” image. The song’s success as caused critics to name her as a pop girl on the rise.

Highly praised for its sound and how it fit Chouka’s style, “Girls Don’t Cry” was a resounding success. The music video’s teaser, which was released with no prior notice onto a completely new YouTube channel (“c.a.”) with no previous content (it was later turned into a channel for all of Chouka’s music related endeavors), garnered over 3.2 million views within its first twenty-four hours after Chouka posted it to her Twitter and Instagram accounts. The single’s title was revealed on both platforms an hour later, coinciding with the launch of her official website, which displayed the title alongside a countdown timer.
The song received over 400,000 pre-saves, and the title was trending on Twitter with over a million Tweets. Shortly before “Girls Don’t Cry” dropped, Chouka’s website was updated with the single’s cover, and she posted behind the scenes photos of her on its set, which received over two million likes within the first day.
Upon the song’s release, it was a smash hit. The music video garnered 32 million views within its first 24 hours, finding itself at #1 on YouTube’s trending page, and topping both the Spotify and Apple Music charts. It went on to become the second most streamed song on Spotify in regards to first day streams. “Girls Don’t Cry” topped charts in several countries, including Japan, South Korea, Australia, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and the Philippines (it also managed to remain atop the Oricon chart for seven weeks).
Surprisingly enough, “Girls Don’t Cry” would debut at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 with sales of over 200,00 units, despite industry insiders predicting a Top 20 debut; probably due to the song’s immense popularity online. Unfortunately, it would never reach #1, falling to #7 after five weeks and staying there for two until falling off, but Rosettes were still happy to see that Chouka’s debut managed to get that high. In total, the single would sell over 850,000 units within its first week, cracking a million by the end of April.
Additionally, the song was also praised for its lyricism and feminist commentary on how women who are seen as “strong” or “smart” are not allowed to cry or display negative emotions and are expected to act as role models, while women who appear as if they have everything are told to “just deal with it” and that they have “nothing to be upset about.” Many Rosettes (and critics) were also surprised to find out that Chouka had written most of the lyrics, as she never expressed interest in songwriting before.
“Cake” was released as a single a month later, on May 3rd, 2024. Although the music video received over 11 million views within its first twenty-four hours, Rosettes were … a bit divided. It seemed like none of them could figure out whether they liked the song or not, with certain Tweets saying …
˗ˏˋ ꒰ ♡ ꒱ ˎˊ˗ “ y’all are just HATERS ! like y’all have truly forgotten what real pop music sounds like bc cake is a hit idc ! ”
˗ˏˋ ꒰ ♡ ꒱ ˎˊ˗ “ chouka girl with all due respect i think letting a major label get a hold of you was a mistake ”
˗ˏˋ ꒰ ♡ ꒱ ˎˊ˗ “ no bc this is girly girl music ! it’s cute it’s fun it’s bouncy and it’s so HER ! chouka bby get behind me PUT DOWN THE HATERADE NOWWWW !! ”
˗ˏˋ ꒰ ♡ ꒱ ˎˊ˗ “ #notmychouka girl why does this sound so EMPTY ??? republic needs to pay for their crimes bc ….. ”
Despite the confusion, “Cake” also went on to top charts. It also debuted atop the Apple Music chart, and came in second beneath “Girls Don’t Cry” on Spotify. It managed to debut at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100, although Rosettes were gunning for a higher placement (it was definitely because they couldn’t stop beefing with each other). The song remained on the chart for two weeks (managing to jump to #5 during its second), before completely falling off the Top Ten.
Luckily, more retrospective reviews shows that Rosettes have warmed up to “Cake,” saying that it fit the aesthetic of the lead single. Everyone loved the “sugar sweet” concept that Chouka had going on, and expressed pleasant surprise that her try at a music career was going so well.

ERA HIGHLIGHTS … ˗ˏˋ ꒰ ♡ ꒱ ˎˊ˗
Definitely a fun era! Republic was truly pushing this single and girl, it showed. There were billboards playing her music video (Rosettes in New York even crowded around one when it first launched), ads plastered all across YouTube, “Girls Don’t Cry” was all over the radio, and it was the most popular song on TikTok for a good month.
The promotions were insane! Chouka was all over television this era. She was on the Kelly Clarkson Show (which was too cute! Like Kelly literally complimented her accent), she was on Jimmy Fallon, she was on GMA … like you truly could not escape her! She also had a photoshoot with Harper’s Bazaar and people ate it up! It was very Marie Antoinette themed with huge dresses, pastries, and of course, it was shot at a chateau in France!
And of course she had to promote in Japan! Chouka performed both “Girls Don’t Cry” and “Cake” on Music Station, and no one expected either song to have choreography. But the choreo was so cute, and especially for “Girls Don’t Cry!” Like you could truly tell that Chouka was having a blast, and everyone was so surprised at her stage presence because she’s literally a YouTuber. She also held a press conference in Tokyo, and she even got to visit a pop-up event held by Rosettes at a café in her hometown, Kyoto! It was the cutest thing to see her interacting with her fans, and she thanked them at least five times.
Chouka managed to squeeze in Korean promotions, as well! She performed both of her singles on M Countdown, Inkigayo, and The Show, and she was even on Weekly Idol! She held a small fansign for 200 fans who participated in the pre-order and received a “mystery ticket” with their album, and it was so cute! Chouka was cracking jokes with them and receiving SO many gifts (most of which were either pink or ridiculously expensive; she got a lot of bouquets, too!). Her Korean promos even saw the birth of her first fansite, Strawberry Sweet! She also appeared on the cover of Vogue Korea, and after that, Korean promotions ended unfortunately.
Side note, every performance of “Girls Don’t Cry” started with a costume change! It was usually Chouka tearing off a huge ball gown like skirt to reveal her shorter costume underneath, and her performance on M Countdown was literally her playing a princess getting ready for a ball. There was also a lot of ribbons, platform heels, and satin gloves used styling wise, and Chouka’s makeup was always so soft and pink!
Although she didn’t have enough songs to perform a full set, Chouka attended Coachella anyways and met a bunch of Rosettes! Jason (her fiancé) also tagged along, so fans got to meet him, too! Fashion girls were all over her festival looks too … being raised in Milan truly did wonders for her fashion sense.
Girl, the way the “#GirlsDontCryChallenge” blew up on TikTok is insane. The song had over a million videos underneath it by the start of June, and Chouka was doing it with celebs like Kelly, Tate McRae, Olivia Rodrigo, the members of Aespa, the members of Itzy, Rosé of BLACKPINK, Nayeon and Momo from TWICE, Yuju, the members of Viviz, and a few members of Stray Kids and NCT; among others! Chouka also did the challenge with Leeseo, Rei, and Wonyoung of IVE, and the way Dives and Rosettes were across every social media app absolutely freaking out that Chouka and Wonyoung were the same room was truly crazy.
Towards the end of promotions, a full length documentary covering the making of “Girls Don’t Cry,” the music videos, and the subsequent performances premiered on YouTube. It was a mix of professional camera shots and footage personally shot by Chouka herself, which was refreshing since Rosettes got to see a sillier side to her personality. The documentary garnered over 3 million views within the first twenty-four hours, and would end up at #5 on YouTube’s trending page.
At the end of promos, Chouka posted a long, heartfelt letter to her Instagram thanking fans for their support and expressing how surprised she was at the single’s success. She wrote, “I know that you guys have been waiting three years for me to try my hand at music, and words cannot express how happy I am that it was worth the wait. Over these last few months, you all have shown me so much love, and just thinking about it is moving me to tears as I write this! I promise that I’ll repay your support tenfold. You guys truly mean the world to me, and I wouldn’t be half the person I am today if it weren’t for you. You are truly my other half, even if I unfortunately don’t know you personally (don’t tell Jason I said that). I hope and pray that one day, I’ll be able to meet every single one of you from around the whole world in person, and tell you just how much you mean to me. Until next time, my loves. Ti amo sempre e per sempre. Ciao ciao. ♡”
Additionally, there was also a remix planned with PinkPantheress, but unfortunately, plans ended up falling through because Chouka simply … didn’t want to do it. However, Rosettes ended up finding out about the planned collab, and demand for it was huge. So the remix could happen in the future! Who knows.
All in all, this era was great. It truly showed how much untapped star power Chouka had, and the numbers proved it. It reinforced her “It girl” status, showing that no matter what industry she tried her hand at, she would still dominate. ˗ˏˋ ꒰ ♡ ꒱ ˎˊ˗

Isn't it weird that the only player that hasn't addressed Gavi's injury is Frenkie? Didn't post a story to support him and didn't talk about him in his post match interview. Even the photos he just posted don't include the picture when he wore the shirt they had to support gavi... So much for being the captain
Frenkie doesn’t really posts on stories of Barça stuff with teammates, just maybe a pic of him playing and that’s it and it’s usually a post not a story just his girlfriend, sometimes random Netherlands stuff, and doesn’t post on main outside of family and games, so, that doesn’t surprise me but I’m sure he said something in private. As Captain you are expected to say something, that’s true. Gavi and FDJ get along great so I have no doubt he did express support in private. Frenkie is reserved in general, very Dutch that way lol

I currently have 4 adult rabbits, here they are. I love them with my life.
Tumblr media
Amber, my spayed yellow Dutch doe. 2 years in october.
Tumblr media
Juno, Black self mini rex doe, 1 year old this month.
Tumblr media
Jasmine, black himilayan (pattern not crossbreed) Netherland Dwarf doe, 2 years since 6 June
Tumblr media
Bramble, tort based Tri (Dalmatian version) mini rex buck, 6 months on 18 July
Had all four from 12 weeks and 9 weeks respectively.
In order I got : Jasmine, Amber, Juno and then Bramble. Technically, these are my current rabbits and in reality: Jasmine was 8th, Amber 10th, Juno twelfth and Bramble thirteenth (when not including late babies of a late rabbit).
Want to keep a black otter doe from Juno (when she has one) and spay her. Thinking of calling her Hanako.
Lastly, Juno had babies with my Aunt's rabbit, Oreo. Both pedigree mini rex. Dad was black otter Dalmatian in colour.
Tumblr media
Bad photo of all of them.
Tumblr media
Photo of mum and the boys. Missing black spot doe
Tumblr media
Photo of only doe and blue Dalmatian brother.
She had 5 but one was DOA. 1 girl and 3 boys survived and are 8 weeks old now.
Woo bunnies!!!!!!
If you can't guess, my favourite breed is Mini rex. Also Rex and Silver from UK (Silver looks similar to US version of silver fox).

Original ask:People keep saying this is Frances Brandon, but looking at the fashion and the features of the sitter, I feel it's Katherine of Aragon instead. What are your thoughts?
(we didnt have the photo originally, but now i can finally answer this).
Tumblr media
-My first observation regarding this painting is that it cannot be Francis Brandon, because she was born in 1517. This is 1500s or 1510s fashion of Netherlands. No way she could be depicted in fashion which is from before she was even born!
On wikipedia it is labelled Portrait of Agniete van den Rijne, atributed to Joos van Cleve, located in Rijksmuseum Twenthe in Enschede, in Netherlands. And as being painted in 1st half of 16th century.
On webpage of the museum, it is labelled as Unknown woman in c.1515. I suspect it could be bit earlier(split gown, large hanging chains)-my guess would be late 1500s, max early 1510s. But my chronology of netherlandish fashion was based upon court fashion. And neckline this low is consistent with some parts of Habsburg Netherlands, but not the court. So I could be bit off. But either way-1500s or 1510s imo. Not Francis Brandon. She wasnt even born when this was in fashion.
As for Catherine of Aragon.
Not that she couldnt wear netherlandish fashion(Sittow's portrait)-but a)when she did wear it, it was same fashion as in court.
b) what cut photos deliberately left out, is that this painting has its original frame...which includes coat of arms.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And experts believe this coat of arms to be original.
Tumblr media
They havent been able to identify it nor of the man matching the woman. But clearly not Catherine's coat of arms.
Tumblr media
Also the focus here is on grapes-its fruit, its leaves and vines.
Tumblr media
It is symbol of fertility and prosperity, as well as having several more meanings in christianity, but as far as i know never asociated with Catherine of Aragon specifically. And there is literally nothing to suggest it is her.
I agree that there is resemblence, but there is issue. The artist was skilled. So why upon closer inspection the nose looks so differently than hers?
Tumblr media
Catherine's nose tip seemed to be pointing more up and it was not as large. With some people-for example Margaret of Austria, size of nose changes as they age(due to health issues). However Catherine even in mid 1520s, still has narrow nose with tip basically same as in her youth.
Tumblr media
Angle might play part a bit...but imo it is simply different nose.
The resemblence alone cannot drive identification. Not only do we not have single major clue pointing towards Catherine, we have major clue against her(coat of arms). Also Henry was likely painted by the artist when he met Francis I at Calais-with Anne Boleyn. The artist was asociated a lot with Francis, but never proven to travel to England or to take comissions from English royal court...aside that one meeting.
I am sorry, it is not Catherine of Aragon.
I am as upset as you guys that we don't have any surviving portrait of her from 1510s, and that many portraits we only know from not so great copies.
To find more lost originals, looking through art of artists which painted relatives of the person is indeed very good strategy. It pays off in many cases. Unfortuntely not in case of Joos van Cleve.
But it might be good idea to look up painters employed by Charles V and by Francis I in 1520-because Catherine met both that year.
Henry and Charles even had joined portraits made back then.
Tumblr media
So there is indeed potential that some portrait of Catherine was created and it might have went with visitor. And it could have been another joined portrait because Charles didnt visit alone but with Germaine of Foix.
Problem is, the most likely thing for Catherine to wear in any portrait as Queen of England is gable hood- headwear unique to England. For her portraits to not be noticed, they would either have to be overpainted/altered, misidentified, misdated or even all three.
Another option is that upon meeting Charles that she wore spanish fashion. If she got painted in that, she wouldnt be that likely to be recognized.
Or maybe we need to broaden our idea of what Catherine wore.
Tumblr media
So my dears, the hunt is still on.

Transgender Ukrainians struggle to continue treatment
Tumblr media
CNN reports that many transgender Ukrainians within the country and abroad find it hard to get access to hormones and other types of treatment.
Eric, a 23-year-old transgender man from Ukraine, explains:
“The clinic had closed because of the danger of airstrikes. I had the testosterone, but no way of getting [it administered]. I didn’t have the needles and there were huge shortages of everything in pharmacies, even the most basic stuff, because obviously, during the war, there’s a big need for things like syringes.”
A lack of hormones
The Ukrainian transgender rights group Cohort says it has helped more than 1,500 people since the start of the war, assisting them to move to safer areas and helping them pay their bills, CNN writes. The NGO also works with shelters to make sure they have the basic supplies they need.
Getting access to hormones has become a major challenge. The war has interrupted supply chains.
Russian transphobic propaganda helps trans people in Ukraine
The Russian government has become increasingly homophobic and transphobic since the beginning of the war, blaming queer folks for waging a gender war against "traditional values".  This has become the normal excuse for fascist terror these days, it seems, on both sided of the Atlantic.
This has, ironically, helped the transgender cause in Ukraine, as support for queer people is now seen as part of an overall effort to protect humanistic and democratic European values in Ukraine. The discriminatory Russian rhetoric has pushed more Ukrainians to speak up.
Transgender Ukrainians abroad
More than 7.8 million Ukrainians have left the country. Some of them are trans.
CNN explains:
The rights of trans people are weaker in some European Union countries than they are in Ukraine. For example, the Czech Republic, Finland, Latvia, Hungary and Romania still require trans people to undergo sterilization if they want to change their gender – despite a 2017 ruling by the European Court of Human Rights, which found such laws violate Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights. A bill seeking to overturn the requirement is currently making its way through the parliament in Finland.
Poland and Hungary, two countries that border Ukraine and have seen a large influx of refugees, have both seen a pushback against LGBTQ rights in recent years – so much so that the European Commission launched legal action against them over the issue in July 2021.
In a country like Norway, transgender refugees will find it non-problematic to get their real name and gender respected legally (including getting correct ID-cards), but they face the same problems as everyone else when it comes to getting access to hormones. A gender dysphoria diagnosis from Ukraine is not automatically accepted by all doctors.
According to a report by Transgender Europe, waiting times for an initial appointment with a specialist can stretch to years in several European Union countries, including Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Sweden.
Transgender Ukrainians abroad need to get in touch with the local LGBTQA organizations, which – in many countries – have put in place extra measures aimed at helping queer refugees.
CNN has more.

OC introduction: Siara
Considering I've done significantly more pictures of her than Nathan, I should have made an introduction much earlier; but hey, what goes around comes around!
So again, without further ado, here's my other OC (still very loosely applicable word) named Siara Mol!
Tumblr media
Siara was born in Watson to a family emigrating from the Netherlands a couple decades ago. A hardboiled streetkid, she has also had her share of living in Heywood, but pure Watson gal for the most part.
She lived a tough life in a neighborhood of Night City where poverty and violence were an everyday norm. Despite this hardship, Siara has always been a fighter, possessing an inner strength and grit that are evident to anyone who meets her.
Tumblr media
Her parents were tough too, working tirelessly to make ends meet, but their efforts were often inadequate. This was the environment that she was nurtured in, the environment that sculpted her into the strong-willed woman she is today. The toughness that life demanded from her began to manifest in physical scars she earned in multiple unfortunate incidents over the years, some quite severe. One such event led to the loss of her eyes, replaced now with ocular implants.
Tumblr media
These experiences, painful as they were, instilled in her an almost obsessive proficiency with blades, a weapon she has come to respect and fear in equal measure. The physical scars have healed, but the emotional ones are still fresh, making her somewhat unpredictable in certain situations.
This is where her story is picked up, as a failed attempt of hijacking a Rayfield Caliburn made her getting beaten by NCPD but also meeting a very decent fellow: Jackie Welles.
Tumblr media
This is it for now; actually while writing this post I realized many older photos I made of her had atrocious lighting, so I only included some more recent ones, but these are definitely the ones I'm proud of.
Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more!

It’s here! Officially the longest playlist I’ve ever made (I had to make myself stop at 50 songs. It was difficult. A surprising amount were fitting the teenage lawrusso vibes what can I say)
hearts on noorderstraat: the west valley senior trip playlist
Largely mined from the actual radio top 100 in the Netherlands from 1984-1985 with a couple more anachronistic 80s songs thrown in (what, was I supposed to not include two of hearts?)

Dutch government starts delivery process of 18 F-16 fighters to Ukraine
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 12/22/2023 - 19:58 in Military, War Zones
The Netherlands today announced its decision to supply Ukraine with at least 18 F-16 fighters, in line with the commitment made during the visit of Ukrainian President Zelenskyy earlier this year to the Netherlands.
The office's decision to prepare the F-16 allows the allocation of the personnel and budget necessary to prepare the delivery. This measure follows the recent contribution of the Netherlands to the European F-16 training center in Romania, which was ceremonially inaugurated last month by Dutch and Romanian defense ministers.
Tumblr media
Minister Ollongren emphasized that the supply of F-16 will significantly increase Ukraine's defensive capabilities against the ongoing Russian attacks. She noted the critical importance of the Netherlands' continued support for Ukraine, given the persistent Russian aggression.
In a post on the social media platform X, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said: “Today I informed President Zelenskyy about our government's decision to prepare 18 initial F-16 fighters for delivery to Ukraine. The delivery of the F-16 is one of the most important elements of the agreements made on military support for Ukraine."
Tumblr media
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine expressed gratitude for the decision of the Dutch government. He stated on social media platform X: "I spoke to Mark Rutte to thank the Dutch government for its decision to start preparing the initial 18 F-16 jets for delivery to Ukraine."
Tumblr media
The export of these aircraft is subject to strict control measures to ensure responsible end use. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands will evaluate the aircraft in accordance with the European Union's arms export criteria. Based on this assessment, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation will take a decision on the granting of an export license.
Tumblr media
Before the F-16s are delivered to Ukraine, several prerequisites must be met. These include the availability of trained Ukrainian personnel and adequate infrastructure in Ukraine. In addition, all aircraft will be subjected to thorough inspections and modifications as necessary, and some of them will require revisions.
In August, the Netherlands confirmed its intention to supply Ukraine with 18 F-16 fighters, after US approval. Although it was not officially confirmed earlier, it was known that the Dutch military had 18 surplus non-operational F-16 jets. The remaining 24 are operational, with the Dutch Air Force upgrading the fleet to the newest F-35.

"Call us lame if you want"
Meet the Soft Hooligans: "Not us who are stupid in the head"
GOTHENBURG. They want to support the national team with joy and love.
So when they received hate for their support, the Soft Hooligans were surprised but not surprised.
It's Friday afternoon, it's past 2 p.m. and there are a few hours left until kick-off. The rain hangs in the air and Sweden will host Switzerland in the Olympic qualifiers, as well as the Nations League, at Gamla Ullevi.
All around Gothenburg, supporters put on their yellow shirts and get ready. One of them is Emma Holmquist. She was in Brussels to watch the men's national team when two supporters were murdered by a terrorist.
- A national team is always valuable, but since that happened, it is priceless, she says.
Tumblr media
Alba and Emma met in Sheffield last summer and have been friends ever since. They meet in stands around Sweden and the world. Sometimes they cheer for the same team, sometimes for different ones.
- To share this love for the national team with others. It's priceless that you can do that and that everyone is 27 regardless of the year they were born, says Emma and continues:
- I love my fellow supporters in Soft Hooligans. Even though I really wish that their team would lose when I meet them in the women's league, but that is also what is the key, that you can differentiate on that part.
Tumblr media
But it all really started four years earlier, when a frustrated Estrid Kjellman was at the European Championships in the Netherlands with her mother, sister, cousin and cousin's friend.
Tumblr media
- It was so very quiet in the arenas. When you shouted and cheered, you really stood out, she says.
The five women wanted to change that.
- I still had an image of what it might be like to go to football. How much it can sound, how powerful it can be. So then I felt that this is how I want it when I go and watch my favorite team, the Swedish women's national team, too.
Some inspiration was taken from what they had experienced in the stands around Sweden and at men's national matches while growing up and some from the Dutch fans during the EC.
- Even then they had such orange marches to the matches and it really felt organized while we Swedes sat scattered in different places in the arena. We didn't get any pressure and I want it to be more fun to go and watch football. So if no one else has taken this, we probably have to do it, says Kjellman.
It was also then and there that the supporters club's name was born: Soft Hooligans.
- People looked at us like we were hooligans and then it became an inside joke that we are not like other hooligans. We are soft hooligans.
Since then, the supporters' club has grown and now they have over 4,000 members on Facebook.
- I mean it really was a void, a hole. There was nothing. People wanted this and it wasn't there. And it was kind of only positive until the last month.
What Estrid is referring to is the hatred that came after the match in Gothenburg last time. A clip of the Soft Hooligans marching with a megaphone, drum and chant was mocked in the comments section. They were told it was lame and the name was ridiculed.
- I was a little shocked. There are still men who kind of really look down on women's football and the supporter culture that exists around it, she says and continues:
Tumblr media
She is supported by Emma Holmquist, who herself is active in Linköping's supporters club Lejonflocken in the women's league. For over ten years, she has stood in the stands and she too has received both hate and threats for the way in which she supports.
- There are those who anonymously threaten us that when there is a derby, then you don't bring your flags and you shouldn't support in your way because it's lame. So I just ask who is saying this? Well, it's up to you to figure it out. But why shouldn't we support with our flags? We've been supporting this way since 2016. Yes, but it's for your own safety and they don't even want to tell you who they're from.
For both Emma and Estrid, being a supporter is about lifting your own players, cheering for your team and not shouting excuses.
- I want to be able to stand straight and know that the way I support doesn't hurt anyone. On the other hand, I can have all kinds of emotions at the match, but it is my responsibility how I express it, says Emma.
She feels that some people see the stands as a sanctuary where you can behave however you want, where you can let out more emotions than usual.
- And so it is. We release more than usual. You get that. I can't go into town and behave like I do in the stands. There must be reasonable limits and frameworks for that as well.
And there will be a lot of emotions today too. Not only because it is an important Olympic qualifying match, but also with everything that happened in Brussels in the bag. When Emma tells about the mourning ribbons at the collection and what the money will go to, it is immediately a man who, with the beer in his right fist, stretches out his left and says:
Tumblr media
There is no one here who has hesitated to put on the yellow jersey. It is more important than ever to show the love for one's country, for one's team and for one's fellow supporters.
When Emma Holmquist talks about the community she has found thanks to the supportership and how she has seen the supporter group grow, it is with pride in her voice.
- Because we are part of it. We are part of that growth. The way we behave in the stands, the way we bring in supporters who are there for the first time. We take them under our wings. Just sit down at a table. Everyone here will take care of you.
Most recently, there was almost a fight over who would get to take care of the girl who showed up to attend her first soccer game.
- We won, we had her all night then, says Emma and smiles at the memory.
Tumblr media
Despite the comments last time, they are marching to the arena this time as well. However, they do so in silence. Not because of what happened to them last time but out of respect for the victims in Brussels.
Kajsa Aronsson, Estrid's mother and one of the co-founders of Soft Hooligans, thinks it's obvious to go quietly to the arena. But when they enter, they should cheer as usual.
- That's why we're here, because we love them and we want to get to the Olympics together.
Unlike six years ago, the Swedish supporters are now united behind the one goal. The drum is included, as is the megaphone.
If you look out over the supporters, there are both young and old, men and women.
- This is not some small exclusive club, but this is for everyone who loves our women's national team who wants to be in the stands, and we also want most of all for you to want to be in the crowd, but you can sit on the long side too, that is okay.
Tumblr media
The reason why the women's national team attracts such a diverse audience, both Emma and Alba believe, is due to the players and how they have built their profiles by standing up for what they believe in, for daring to take a stand. They are role models.
- Yes, I think that is super important, says Alba and Emma adds:
- I think it is also very brave to do that. When you come from clubs that are sometimes criticized for being funded by nations or people who have values that are less similar to our values and the players' values. Nevertheless, they dare to stand up. Some say it's a double standard. I say it's courage.
She raises Magdalena Erikssson as an example, another is Kosovare Asllani, who before the World Cup was asked about her time in PSG and Manchester City after she herself thought that the men's players should be better at taking a stand.
However, Emma understands that the men do not do it to the same extent.
- So it is difficult to be the first to break that pattern.
She points out that it has always been standard for the ladies to stand up for their values and use their platform while men's football exploded at a time when sport and politics were supposed to be kept separate.
- Do your job, play ball. But don't speak on matters you know nothing about. It's a challenge so I'm impressed as soon as someone does it.
Tumblr media
In the stands this evening, it is Emma who takes care of the drum.
- Can we run something with smaller drums, I have to rest my arms a bit, she says to Caroline Gunnarsson, who is holding the megaphone.
But there are more who stand out, such as Per-Arne Svensson. He's standing there with a big yellow inflatable banana, like he's been doing for the past year.
- Opposite was a Butterick store and there they had a banana. I inflated it and drove it the whole trip to England. Wait a minute, it will be finished soon.
But it won't be. Sweden misses and after a disappointed "oooh" he continues to tell.
- Then it became an image and then we have run it at the WC this year. I bought a big banana, but today it died.
It has started to leak and for the next collection he has to buy a new one. He doesn't have much to spare for that criticism about the women's national team's supporters being lame.
Alexandra Carmblad has not been around for as long. This is the second football game she is watching live. The first was against Spain just over a month ago.
- It's fantastic, you can't help but be excited by the environment, by the energy, says Alexandra Carmblad.
She also prefers to go to women's football. At the same time as "Forward, forward, forward Sweden. We're going to the Olympics this year" chanted in the heels, Carmblad explains why.
- I think they put too much effort into the field and I think that supporters and cheerleaders are usually too aggressive. It's not really what I'm looking for when I watch football.
Sweden misses a goal chance. It is Stina Blackstenius who misses, but what follows is not a shout, but they run steadily: "Stina, Stina, Stina".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is no wonder that the Swedish players love their fans. After the game, they go out to say thanks. Caroline Seger takes an extra lap past, Magdalena Eriksson likewise.
- I don't think they need to thank you like that, but it's absolutely incredible, and it means so much to a great many in the heel, and like everyone, they do this for some love of the sport and love of the team. So that they show that it means something to them and is really huge, says Estrid.
But they do and the players are happy to pay tribute to the fans who stand there through thick and thin. The ones who travel all over the world to support their team and who are always there at the home games.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And before the supporters leave Gamla Ullevi, they make sure to clean up after themselves. Candy bags and popcorn boxes are picked up before they wander further into the Gothenburg evening with a Swedish victory behind them.
- The Olympic dream is alive, but it is scarce, states a woman with walking sticks before she disappears into the darkness.
