“Hey Baby..”
“Hiii…”
A soft chuckle filtered through your phone speaker.
“I’m sorry for calling you so late…”
“Joon, that’s completely fine, You know I stay up late anyways…”
You hear a sigh before he begins to talk again.
“Baby.?”
“Yeah?”
“You still live in (city name), right?”
“Yea, why do you ask?” You asked, curiosity/excitement lacing your tone. Your boyfriend chuckles at you, “Well, we’ll finally be able to meet!” You gasped in excitement, nearly falling off your bed.
You and your boyfriend, Joon, had been dating for about 2 years now, and yes it was a long distance relationship.
The two of you had met online through your art twitter. You did a lot of fanart of your favorite kpop group, Ateez, as well as tattoo ideas. The tattoo designs are what introduced you to your loving boyfriend.
He replied under one of your posts, interested in commissioning a design and it has been you and him against the world ever since.
Yes, you don’t know how he looks, and he may have various different pictures of you, but you put all your trust in him and you highly doubted he was a catfish.
He always showered you with gifts, and always called you when he got the time to. He rarely showed his face, but you saw his desk and his work area.
You believed he was real and you were excited at the prospect of finally being able to meet him.
“I can tell you’re excited…” Joon started, “I am too..I can’t wait to hold you…” You felt your face heat up as you heard him mumble something in Korean under his breath.
“What was that?”
“I said I can’t wait to hold you and have you whimpering underneath me, Jagi..”
You squealed in embarrassment as you slammed your phone on the bed. You heard him laughing at you before calling your name.
The two of you sat in silence for a little while after that, nothing but the soft clicking of your boyfriend's laptop coming through the speakers. He finally spoke up again with a little chuckle.
“Well…I bought you a concert ticket…”
“Joon!”
“What? I thought it was a good idea since we both like concerts~!”
You only hummed in response, not having the time to argue with him tonight, your phone pinged and you sighed.
“I’ll see you in two days!”
“See you~”
Your phone hung up and you went to check your Ticketmaster account, your eyes widened,
You got the tickets! -
X1 Atiny VIP Ticket
My future husband: You’re welcome~

“Y/n, how do you know he will be there?’
“Don’t you think you’re being used..’
You groaned at your friend. “F/n. I don’t think a catfish would drop the money for this ticket like that. It was expensive.”
“So!? Maybe he’ll try to use a little money to kidnap you!”
You grew frustrated as you did your makeup. You had told F/n about what had happened and to make sure you were safe, she was coming along.
F/n was never supportive of your relationship, always judging you for ‘wasting’ your time on a dude that you are only just now meeting. But you also couldn’t blame her, girls did go missing when meeting their online boyfriends. But no matter how you tried to convince her, she wouldn’t listen to you. She didn’t even like Ateez! So she was basically wasting her money.
“What if he’s lying to you about his identity-”
“That’s enough, F/n!!” You yelled at her, finally snapping from the constant negative comments. “If you wanna come then come. But if you’re not going to shut the fuck up already!”
F/n stared at you in shock. “How dare you? I’m trying to keep you from getting catfished!!” She yelled back and you rolled your eyes pushing past her, grabbing your bag.
You got your keys and looked at her, “Find your own ride to the damn concert. Don’t bother being around me.” You said leaving her behind.
You were actually surprised she even still came to the concert. You glared at her and she gave you an apologetic look when she caught up to you.
When you walked into (venue name), you beamed with excitement. Not only were you going to finally meet your boyfriend, you got to see your all time favorite kpop group!
It was refreshing to be around fellow Atiny, you chatted with several around you in the pit. You ended up getting real close from you leaving early. Your blood was pumping through your body when the lights finally dimmed. You screamed as you watched as the members of Ateez came onto the stage.
It felt unreal, it didn’t feel real at all. You couldn’t believe that you were finally here. A couple of songs had gone by when you finally found the time to let your boyfriend know where you were. But you were shocked to see a message from him around 2 years ago that simply said;
“Look at the stage.”
When you looked back up, you locked eyes with Kim Hongjoong, the leader of Ateez, your bias, your Ult bias to be exact. His eyes were locked on you as he introduced himself to the crowd. Your brain froze.
When he spoke, his voice sounded familiar, and not just from you listening to music. No it was like you knew him on a personal level.
“F/n…” You said, capturing your friends' attention, concerned at your tone. “What’s wrong? Is it that boy?” She asked.
You looked back up to the stage, watching as Ateez prepared for their next set of songs.
“I think my boyfriend is the leader of Ateez..”
“...You mean as a joke right…?”
“....”
“...oh…”

“What do you mean you think your boyfriend is a member of Ateez!?”
It was after the concert, and you were instructed by your boyfriend to meet him afterwards backstage. All you had to do was tell the security your name and they led you to where you were now.
F/n was very skeptical and was weary about leaving you alone, but after a while of convincing she finally left, making sure she had you added on Life360 just in case.
You stood there waiting, watching as various staff members worked around you. You were starting to think that he wasn’t going to come at all.
You looked down at your phone and sighed, turning to leave.
“Baby!”
You whip around to find the owner of the voice, and lo and behold it was Kim Hongjoong. He was now dressed comfortably, makeup gone and a soft blush on his face with a lazy smile.
You smile wide and run up to him, nearly tackling him to the ground with a hug. He laughs and wraps his arms around you, holding you tightly as if you were going to vanish if he let go.
When he did let go, he pulled away a bit to place a kiss on your lips. You melted into his grasp only pulling away when you needed air from the male.
The two of you looked at each other for a while. One half of you wanted to fight him for lying to you, but you knew he had his reasons, but the other was so happy that he was real and that he was not only your idol, but your lover.
“Hongjoongie…” You mumbled, hiding your face in his chest.
He chuckled as he held you close to him, “It’s so nice to hear you say my name…” He replied, finally pulling away.
When he did, he held your hands and swung them back and forth. He looked like a lovesick puppy, his eyes filled with love and adoration.
“Do you have anywhere else to go?...”
“No not really…”
“Well…could you maybe come back with me?”
You giggle at his bashfulness, nodding. “Of course, You have a lot of explaining to do..”
Hongjoong smiles before pulling you along with him.

Hongjoong paid for your visit to his hotel room, not leaving until he made sure you were safely on your way.
When you got there, you finally got to meet the other members, it was surreal for you. Just yesterday you were catching up on missed content, laughing as you watched Ateez go about their antics. Now you are meeting them and apparently dating their leader.
To say you were nervous would be an understatement, you were nearly shitting bricks.
But it actually went over well, Hongjoong introduced you to them one by one. You happily introduced yourself, shaking their hands until you got to Wooyoung, who had a smug grin.
“You’re really pretty. No wonder cap-” He was cut off by Hongjoong flinging something at him. You giggled at this as the rest of the evening with the boys went fine. It was spent with you explaining how you met Hongjoong, talking about how much you loved their music and how you really appreciated how nice they were being to him.
Later on, Hongjoong led you to his room, which you tilted your head at.
“I thought you guys shared rooms when you went on tour?”
“We do, the guys wanted to give us privacy though..”
You felt your face heat up as you walked over and flopped on the bed. Hongjoong then joined you, leaning his head on your stomach.
The two of you sat in silence for a while, basking in the silence before he spoke up.
“I’m sorry…” He started, moving to sit up, you moved to sit up at the head board.
“Hon-”
“I’m sorry for not telling you who I was y/n…I was scared…” He admits and it hurt your heart with how he avoided eye contact. He sighed before finally turning to you.
“When I found out you were an Atiny..I got scared. I thought you were only gonna like me because of who I am on stage…” You watched him carefully as he continued.
“I thought you weren’t gonna love me for me…So I hid it. It’s why I rarely showed my face when we talked. But when I saw your face…” Hongjoong reached over to cup your cheek, eyes misty. You felt your own tears welling up in your eyes, threatening to fall.
“Hongjoong…” You started moving closer to the male, your faces barely touching. “I’m in love with you…all of you…the Idol you and the normal you. Yes I may be an Atiny, but I love you. Not your career.” You say softly leaning on him.
“I was worried…that you wouldn’t like me once you met me. That you would’ve thought I was a weirdo or that-mmph!” Your rant was cut off by Hongjoong kissing you, he pulled you into his arms, your eyes widened as he silenced you. They eventually fluttered closed as he deepened the kiss, only pulling away to hide his face in the crook of your neck.
“You’re always loved by me…I trust you y/n..”
A small smile ghosted across your features as the two of you stayed that way for a while.
You felt at peace knowing that you could now love both forms of him..

You were sad when you had to say goodbye to your boyfriend. One night was definitely not enough time for you to get all what you had to say to him off your chest.
And there was obviously a lot more that Hongjoong wanted to do, but that would have to wait for the next time you would meet.
So when you got home, you were watching through your concert footage when you got a notification.
‘Ateez_official_ has made a post’
You clicked it and felt your heart do a mini flip.

Tumblr media
"sorry"s and "i forgot"s seemed to become part of your daily conversations.
tonight was the night you'd been waiting for, the evening you finally introduced namjoon, your boyfriend, to your parents over dinner. to your relief, everything went smoothly and your parents adored him.
however, despite the outward success of the event, frustration bubbled deep within you.
the reason for this internal turmoil stemmed from multiple factors. first and foremost, you were late to the dinner; an issue in itself.
but what added fuel to the fire was that your tardiness was a direct result of namjoon forgetting about the event altogether.
this wasn't simply a matter of being late - it went much deeper than that.
you had done everything possible to ensure he would remember – leaving sticky notes on the fridge, setting calendar reminders on his phone – but to no avail.
in the beginning, namjoon's forgetfulness was almost endearing – he would forget where he'd put his keys or the name of that movie you both watched last weekend. but eventually, this tendency seeped into larger aspects of your relationship, causing him to miss important dates or appointments - moments that mattered a lot to you.
it seemed like you were constantly having to cut him some slack and reschedule plans, hearing apologies aplenty.
but somehow, namjoon always knew how to make it up to you - showering you with kisses and sweet gestures, making incredible plans for recompense on another day, or even demonstrating his love physically in ways that left you dizzy and unable to walk straight for days afterwards.
but this time felt different.
this time, it felt like his apology was more of an afterthought than a genuine act of remorse. it felt like he simply didn't care – as if your frustrations were utterly inconsequential to him.
before leaving for dinner, shit really hit the fan; heated words were exchanged at lightning speed through clenched teeth and narrowed eyes.
his defensive attitude made it apparent that he simply believed another quick apology would be enough to sweep his negligence under the rug.
as much as you tried to suppress it throughout the night, frustration eventually took over your usually sunlit demeanor.
somehow, both of you managed to plaster on fake smiles upon arriving at your parents' house, pretending that everything was fine between you.
every warm smile felt forced and every tender touch unnerved you.
you could barely bring yourself to look at him the whole night, and every time he tried to make a reassuring or affectionate gesture by holding your hand or wrapping his arm around you, you subtly but firmly rebuffed him.
by some miracle, your parents remained oblivious to the storm cloud hanging over the two of you.
somewhere deep down, you knew you couldn't simply let this go – not this time.
and so, this brings us to where you find yourself now – in the car with namjoon in the passenger seat as you both return home in silence.
the quiet is deafening, your demeanor frosty, and your eyes stubbornly focused on the road ahead, while namjoon's eyes occasionally dart towards you nervously. at red lights, your vision blurs as you stare resolutely at the world outside, acutely aware of his silent presence beside you.
namjoon, usually so adept at reconstructing bridges burned in anger and patching emotional wounds with well-timed humor, seemed at a loss for how to approach this situation.
this time, it appeared he couldn't simply laugh and charm himself out of this.
he exhales deeply, running a hand over his face. "i really am sorry-" he begins, but you cut him off, your voice barely containing the pain you felt.
"namjoon, please. i don't have the strength to listen to another one of your apologies..."
he blinks at you for a moment, wordless. his heart aches with guilt as he sees just how upset you are - more than he had ever seen before.
he opens his mouth as if to say something more but ultimately decides against it.
"i just want you to care, namjoon," you murmur through quivering lips, tears balancing perilously on the edge of your eyelashes. "that's all i want. am i asking for a lot?"
sudden honking from behind startles the both of you as the car behind you grew impatient with your delay at the green light.
with a jolt, you press on the accelerator, driving on towards home as fresh tears threaten to escape from your eyes, your throat growing increasingly tight with unshed emotion.
with a quiet sob firmly concealed behind clenched teeth, you bite your lip and try to focus on the road ahead – unsuccessfully fighting against a flood of fresh tears cascading down your face.
namjoon quickly averts his gaze, allowing it to wander aimlessly beyond the confines of the car, seeking solace in anything but the heart-wrenching sight of your sadness.
the elevator ride up to your apartment was filled with deafening silence - one where neither of you dared utter a single word as if doing so would shatter what little remained between you both.
as soon as the apartment door creaked open and you stepped inside, your resolve seemed to enter shaky territory.
for a brief moment, you stand still just inside the doorway, your clammy hands still clutching onto the keys.
your eyes follow namjoon as he takes several steps into the entrance. he removes his shoes and coat, seemingly on autopilot.
however, he soon pauses his actions and turns to face you, visibly aware of your eyes scrutinizing his every move.
"i think…" the words caught in your throat, "i think i'm going to spend the night at my place." your voice was barely audible, even to yourself.
namjoon's face registers surprise, and he stops in his tracks, eyes studying you intently for any sign that might reveal your thoughts.
after a brief pause, he moves to slip his coat back on again, his brows furrowing in concern.
"okay. i'll come with—"
"no, namjoon," you interrupt him firmly. despite the hitch in your voice barely rising above a whisper, there was no doubt how serious you were. he stops moving – his face reflecting his surprise and confusion.
namjoon has always been inseparable from you; there hasn't been a single night he has spent away from your side since you've been together.
"i could take the couch if that's..." namjoon starts again tentatively.
"just… let me have this space tonight. please."
his broad shoulders tense and he lets out a shaky sigh, turning his head away for a brief moment so that you wouldn't see the hurt that flickered across his eyes or the subtle gestures as his fingers came up discreetly to wipe at them.
he turns back to face you again and there's a vulnerability in his gaze – his normally confident exterior now replaced by feelings of insecurity and genuine fear at what this separation might mean.
as if propelled by instinct, namjoon crosses the distance between you both faster than you can react. he wraps you tenderly in a warm embrace, his arms enfolding your body against his firm chest.
his hand comes up to cradle the back of your head as if trying to protect you from the world or, perhaps, himself.
as you lean into him, the warmth of his body seems almost too much to bear – like walking on hot coals or holding fire in your hands – yet you know that it's exactly what you're yearning for.
his arms draw even tighter around you, and he lowers his head to press it lightly against your hair; the familiar scent of your shampoo wafting towards his nostrils.
he exhales tenderly before murmuring your name softly. with a voice strained by raw emotion, he whispers hoarsely, "i love you," allowing each precious syllable to crack the tiniest bit.
"and i'm sorry. i know i messed up. but please remember that i love you."
the drive back to your apartment is hazy, almost as if your body transported you there without any conscious effort from your mind.
your hands grip a duffel bag stuffed with essential toiletries and a few changes of clothes, enough to last a couple of days.
the thought of turning back and returning to namjoon crossed your mind multiple times. the lingering sensations of his arms wrapped around you were still so vivid; his heartbeat pounding against your chest felt as if it was still happening.
and as difficult as it was to admit, by the time you had managed to finally step through the door and leave the house, a part of you had already forgiven him.
when you unlock the door and step inside your old apartment, you notice that everything is exactly as you left it; eerily clean along with the darkness that envelops the space, the accompanying emptiness, and the lack of life within.
the emptiness is almost palpable, with a barren fridge and clean empty shelves serving as a stark reminder of the life you've temporarily left behind.
the only reminder of your presence in this apartment is the furniture that you bought brand new when you first moved in - before namjoon had ever asked you to live with him.
rather than feeling like home, your apartment appeared abandoned and forgotten; a place where no one had ever taken residence.
with a flick of a switch, dim light fills the living room casting shadows on the surrounding walls.
you stand there, rooted in the center of your living room, as a memory suddenly resurfaces:
you and namjoon had been dating for nearly nine months at the time. by then, both of you were comfortable enough with each other to spend nights together at each other’s homes; so much so that it almost seemed natural for your things to mingle together.
you were both sitting cross-legged on your couch together, warm cartons of chinese food cradled in your hands while letting a cheesy romantic comedy flicker across the tv screen on netflix – his selection no less.
the remnants of dinner were almost gone when namjoon ventured deep into the takeout bag and emerged triumphantly with two fortune cookies clasped tightly between his fingers.
handing one over to you, he flashed a warm and playful smile - the kind that seemed to make his dimples more prominent than ever.
"i'll open mine first," he declared confidently.
you watched him fondly as he eagerly cracked open the cookie, listening intently as he read aloud:
all things are difficult before they are easy.
he pondered the words for a brief moment, then, in true namjoon fashion, nodded to himself and adorably popped both halves of the cookie into his mouth.
reclining against the couch cushions, he gives you a playful wink and motions for you to proceed. "your turn," he mumbled through his self-satisfied grin.
you broke your own cookie, feeling the small slip of paper between your fingers, and your eyes raced across the message before they stopped dead.
the words printed there sent your stomach tumbling, your heart performing dizzying backflips inside of your chest:
your fortune: move in with me?
you glanced up at namjoon just in time to notice him observing you intently, a smug expression dancing across his face – it was clear he was enjoying the sight of your reaction.
"well?" he asked innocently, feigning ignorance as he leaned in closer to where you sat on the couch.
"what does it say?"
in a fit of frustration, you spin around, clutch your duffel bag tightly, and trudge towards your bedroom with heavy, slow steps.
pulling on your pajamas and brushing your teeth almost mechanically, you finally crawl into bed – but sleeping alone feels alien to you.
the chill of the empty sheets envelops you, and try as you might to shake it off, it's an uncomfortable sensation that clings to your skin. your heart grows heavier as blankets enshroud your shivering form in a futile attempt at comfort.
when morning arrives — or perhaps it's afternoon by now — you find yourself even more exhausted than before if that's possible.
the sunlight filtering through your curtains causes a strain on your groggy eyes as they slowly crack open.
with one arm stretched out from beneath the covers, you reach for your phone — clinging to a fragile hope that maybe, just maybe, namjoon had called or left a message while you were asleep. reality's cold slap stings as your screen is devoid of notifications.
although space was something you thought you wanted – needed even – it was never something that felt so crushing with its absence filled by namjoon.
groaning slightly, you sit up in bed and stretch before rising unsteadily on weary limbs.
coffee – that's what you need right now.
you were sure that you didn't have any cream though, but perhaps the bitterness of black coffee would suit your current mood; it's almost as if the scent of it was already lingering in the air.
you groggily shuffle down the hallway with bleary eyes. except for an odd denim jacket tossed on the counter, nothing seemed out of place.
your eyes widened at the jacket as you halted abruptly: buttoned cuffs, oversized, and slightly faded.
it was namjoon's.
your eyes quickly dart to the entrance, where a pair of shoes that couldn't possibly be yours were thrown carelessly next to the door.
your heart skips a beat as adrenaline momentarily jars you awake.
the sound of rustling emanates from the kitchen, and with bated breath, you walk towards it. cautiously, you approach and peek around the corner.
there stands namjoon with his broad back overshadowing everything else in view.
he's clad in a crisp white tank top, toned arms on display and muscles subtly rippling beneath the fabric. his back faces away from you as he appears wholly engaged in some task at hand.
you rub your tired eyes and squint, trying to recall whether yesterday's events were merely figments of your imagination or if they genuinely transpired.
you remember everything vividly: it really did happen.
absentmindedly perched on your kitchen counter are two mugs; namjoon smoothly fills each with coffee while he hums to himself.
what catches you off guard is the presence of your favorite hazelnut creamer next to the mugs - something he clearly must have picked up for you - as well as an all-too-familiar takeout bag from your favorite bagel shop.
the creamer— so delightful that on one occasion, you could have sworn you were hallucinating when you swung open the refrigerator door, only to find that namjoon had stocked it with multiple bottles. they were meticulously arranged in such a way that they occupied the majority of the uppermost shelf.
"so you won't have to worry anymore about running out too quickly," he had explained that day.
a mixture of emotions bubbles within; anger competes with relief, anxiety dances with affection.
you wanted this, didn't you? your secret desires brought to life with his unexpected presence, yet simultaneously neglecting the boundaries you had asked for.
it was difficult to deny how alluring he looks in that tank top, the very image of domestic perfection as he prepares your morning coffee and a fresh breakfast spread.
and then he turns around, clutching both mugs in his hands.
he freezes, seeming equally startled by your sudden presence – as if he wasn't expecting to be discovered just yet.
his lips quirk upwards in a hesitant, yet warm smile as his eyes take in the sight of you—sleepy, tousled hair, and the adorable pout that comes with a still-drowsy state. "good morning," he murmurs softly.
"hi."
the two of you stand there for a beat, the awkwardness of the situation settling like a thick blanket around you.
the question spills out of you without warning:
"how did you get in?"
he glances down at the coffee mugs still cradled within his grip, cautiously responding, "you always leave a spare at our place. i thought it would be nice to talk over breakfast."
your voice falters as you try to respond, but any words that might have come forth dissolve into the swelling lump forming in your throat. instead, you opt for a subtle nod before turning away and leading him towards your small balcony.
as you step outside, the bright morning sunlight makes you squint, still adjusting from having just woken up not too long ago.
you take a seat with namjoon at the small table on the balcony, silently munching on cream cheese-slathered bagels and sipping coffee, which slowly helps lift the fog of grogginess clouding your mind.
your eyes occasionally flicker towards namjoon, whose pensive gaze seems fixed on some far-away point in the distance.
a somber cloud seems to hang over him and a sinking feeling in your stomach tells you that he's here to bring an end to something.
"i fucked up yesterday,” he says, breaking the silence, “i know that.”
your head turns to look at him, saying nothing.
"i'm sorry," he begins softly. "i know i can't make it up to you now, but i genuinely am sorry."
namjoon's eyes remain locked on the same distant point as before, and as he continues to speak, they're filled with a profound sadness that seems almost unbearable for him.
his voice begins to tremble ever so slightly as he starts to explain himself further. "i've always been forgetful; it's among my most significant flaws. but i want you to know that it's never been out of carelessness when it comes to you. sometimes, my mind just gets overwhelmed."
he takes a deep breath, glancing at his hands before turning to look at you and adds, "i promise i'll do better; not just because i need to but because i love you. and the fact that i was in bed without you last night made me realize just how much i truly hate being apart from you."
pausing for a moment, he reluctantly allows his hand to hover over yours before gingerly placing it atop your own.
"i understand if it takes time for you to forgive me – i'm not asking for it right now," he admits quietly, his voice wavering slightly. "all i need is a chance to prove to you that i can change and be there for you when you need me."
namjoon then slowly removes his hand and looks away, giving you space to consider his words while fidgeting with the coffee mug handle.
you release a heavy sigh and look away too, trying your best to hold back tears. "oh, namjoon," you murmur, forcing a weak, watery chuckle.
this man, you think to yourself, will be the end of you. gently, you reach out and take his hand once more, interlacing your fingers with his.
"you cannot do that to me again."
in response, he turns his head to look at you once more - tears brimming in his eyes as they drink in every detail of your face. his expression softens with love and relief as he nods earnestly, "i won't. i promise."
holding namjoon's hand firmly in yours, you slowly stand up from the cozy, cushioned chair, beckoning him with a subtle nod of your head, signaling him to follow suit.
he rises from his seat, his tall figure towering over you as he instinctively stretches his arm wide, then gently pulls you into a tight and loving embrace.
his arms envelop you while his cheek tenderly rests on the top of your head. sighing contentedly, you nuzzle your face into the comforting fabric that covers his chest.
"namjoon," you quietly ask, snuggling deeper, "have you slept?" you can hear the slight rustle of fabric as he shakes his head.
"nope," he replies, his voice resonating through his chest.
he presses a tender kiss onto the top of your head before continuing, "you know i can't sleep without you." his words bring a smile to your face and a chuckle bubbles up within you.
"let's go back to bed, then."
you both walk back inside your apartment and into your bedroom where everything feels warmer than it did just yesterday: the bed that awaits you; the covers that promise to envelop the two of you in their cozy embrace; and namjoon himself, whose presence brings solace to your heart.
and as you lay down next to him and rest your head upon his chest, namjoon's heartbeat fills your ears—slower and steadier than it was the day before.
the sound is a soothing lullaby that leads you both to fall into a deep slumber, allowing you to sleep better than you have in what feels like an eternity.

(I actually think someone also in the music industry would be a really good match for him)
Despite being know as the accidental spoiler king for letting little things slip, Joon was super careful when it came to your relationship.
He was very hesitant about going public. Like, that shit kept him up at night, thinkingabout all the things that could go wrong.
He's very protective (admittedly, sometimes a little too much so) and really values your privacy together, so the idea of popping that bubble was kinda terrifying.
But even more frightening was the thought of someone else popping it for you, which had almost happened several times when y'all were spotted together on dates and at events.
You ran in the same friend circles though, so it was easy to deflect rumors, but after so many close calls, you both decided it would be best(or at least better)to be open and honest about it.
Luckily, your fans were mainly happy for the two of you.
You were that insta-goals artsy couple, most of your photos together consisting of aesthetic museum and cafe dates.
Juxtaposed by random, goofy ass clips, like him drunkenly laughing on your couch at like 3am about some dumb joke you'd told him.
One of your favorite 'dates' though were the nights y'all would spend in studio working on music together. It was natural progression that you decided to do collab together.
You had been credited as co-writers on several songs(that was actually how you met fyi), but you'd never actually sang or performed on the same track before.
The song you chose was about missed opportunities and the importance and going after what you really want, rather than hoping for any second chances.
After the collab was announced, there were a few people who accused you of using his popularity for your benefit, but most of that was drowned out by an overwhelming wave of excitement and support from the fans.
The video shoot was a strange mix of fun and awkward. The creative team had decided to film it in a nostalgic, home movie style, with glimpses of the two of you, intercut with different shots from around the city. So it was kinda like going a date, but with a script and a film crew in tow.
It was definitely worth it tho, it was really sweet, both you and the fans loved it.

warnings ┆mild smut (i will put a warning to let you guys know where it begins and ends)
Tumblr media
After slowly accepting the fact that your boyfriend was not only a psychopathic CEO — but a murderer as well — spending time with him and going on dates has become a bit more easier. You decided that there’s no reason to add more stress onto your relationship, especially when Cha-young and Vincenzo are still trying to dig for more information regarding the true chairman of Babel. Luckily, to your knowledge, they haven’t discovered that Han-seok is Joon-woo, so the both of you have been living with a peace of mind and enjoying every second you could spend together. Any fear or any doubts you felt towards Han-seok has completely vanished at this point.
You were both in his apartment trying to bake some cupcakes, but instead, Han-seok found it funny to plaster some of the baking mix on your face. “Baby!”
He rarely lets out a genuine laugh, and when he does it is the most beautiful thing you’ve ever heard. Needless to say, you’re the only person who gets to hear it considering that he pretty much despises the rest of the population in the world.
But you weren’t going to let it slide, so when he least expected it, you got him back by rubbing baking mix on his left cheek and nose.
“Ah, you got me,” he mischievously smiled. “You sneaky little devil.”
“I do learn from the best.”
“Oh I’m sure you do.”
Without warning, you felt him place his hands on your waist as he lifted you up and set you down on the counter, positioning himself in between your legs. You were at eye level with him, and your heart beat raced as you began to wonder what devious idea did he have hiding up his sleeve.
“You better not cover me with baking mix,” you warned.
“How about I give it a taste test?”
“Oh, okay. You can use this spoon to–”
He took you by surprise when you felt his lips against your cheek, licking and sucking on the baking mix that rested there. “Hm, delicious, how about here?”
He placed some baking mix on your lips before leaning in and repeating the same action. You caved into the kiss, letting out a small moan when you felt his teeth graze your lower lip as he gently pulled on it with his teeth. You knew he was about to pull away, but your needy side kicked in and you quickly hooked your arms around his neck, re-connecting your lips in another passionate kiss.
Han-seok pressed himself close to you, his fingers slipping underneath your shirt while gripping your waist tightly. You could feel his erection pressing against you, and that was enough to send you over the edge as a warm wave shot up your body. You still haven’t had sex, but there were moments where the two of you would get super intimate before being either, interrupted by a phone call, or you would grow shy and stop before it could escalate.
Right now, though? You wanted this. Your fingers were beginning to scrunch up his shirt from the neckline and you were both too engrossed in one another, that you didn’t hear the front door opening.
“I-I’m so sorry, sir!”
The two of you froze at the same time, but reacted differently to the intruder. While you ducked your head in embarrassment, Han-seok clenched his jaw as his body — menacingly and slowly — turned to face Han-seo.
“Do you. Fucking. KNOCK?!”
You both flinched at his loud voice and you silently prayed that your boyfriend would take it easy on his brother.
“I’m sorry! I-I’m so sorry! The door was unlocked so I thought it was okay enter, sir.”
Cue you mentally slapping yourself since you were the last person to come in to his apartment. “Fuck, I’m sorry. It’s my fault because I forgot to lock the door.”
“No, no,” Han-seok had a crazed look on his face. “Don’t apologize for the idiocy of others. It’s not your fault.”
“But–”
“He’s right,” Han-seo cut you off with a nervous laugh. “I’m an idiot for not knocking. It’s my fault.”
You wanted to argue and say that it was indeed your fault, but knowing these two, it would be pointless. Han-seo would just become more persistent in blaming himself and if you tried to defend him, then it would cause Han-seok to lose his shit and possibly go after his brother behind closed doors. Instead, you nodded your head at Han-seo, not wanting to press onto the matter.
“So, brother, are you going to stand there like a dumbass or are you going to tell me why you’re here?” Han-seok’s voice dripped with irritation.
“Sir, the research team has found crucial information that I believe you may want to know.”
“About what?”
“Its about Vincenzo.”
The three of you sat down with one of the investigators from the team, consulting and talking about Vincenzo’s true identity. You didn’t know what to expect. You assumed they were going to expose him as a con artist or someone who’s stealing money from his victims, but what you least expected to hear was that Vincenzo was a part of the Italian mafia. The fucking mafia. The blood drained from your face at the news, your mind beginning to replay every little encounter you had with him, hoping that you didn’t tick him off in any way, shape, or form. Your eyes were trained on the coffee table in front of you as you refused to look at the pictures that Han-seok held in his hands.
Holy shit, does Cha-young know? What if she’s completely unaware of the monster she has by her side. There’s a high probability that he didn’t disclose such risky information, or, she knows about it and is using that to her advantage to take down Babel. You need to double-check with her; also to make sure that she’s okay.
“So he’s one of the best consiglieres in Italy?” Han-seok questioned with a hint of excitement.
“Yes, he’s a consigliere both acknowledged and dreaded by all of the Mafia families there,” the investigator answered.
“And Vincenzo really did everything I see in these photos?”
“It’s the tip of the iceberg. He’s much more brutal than you think.”
“I knew something was wrong,” Han-seo groaned next to you while he rubbed his face.
“Hey, look,” Han-seok shoved a gruesome picture towards his younger brother, a sinister smile appearing on his face the moment Han-seo cowered away. “Look at this.”
“This is sick,” you grabbed the photo and crumbled it in your hands. “It’s not funny.”
“Wow, so angry,” Han-seok poked at you in a taunting tone.
You were not in the mood for his immature games. Vincenzo was a threat to everyone. Who knows what his true intentions are? He’s a menace who threatened Han-seo, Ms. Choi, and Mr. Han, and sickeningly left behind his initial to taunt your group. What will he do the moment he finds out about Han-seok’s identity?
You felt like throwing up.
“Come to think about it, he’s attacked us a way the Mafia would all this time,” you pointed out.
“You’re right,” Han-seok stood up as he began to list everything with his fingers. “Terrorism, threats, negotiation, mockery, and murder. I was completely wrong. Vincenzo wasn’t just a sparring partner. He’s like a Mayweather.”
His laugh echoed throughout the living room, making Han-seo stand up, with both desperation and fear resting on his features. “Will you let him go on as a sparring partner?”
Han-seok cackled. “You crazy? I’ll have to kill him, or he’ll kill us.”
And he was true to his word. Han-seok went ahead and got in touch with his contacts — as he likes to call it — to lure Vincenzo out to a secluded area, and kill him. You on the other hand, attempted to fish out information from Cha-young, trying to see if she knew anything about Vincenzo’s true identity. She either knew about him being in the mafia or just straight up had zero clue on what was happening, and you were convinced it was the first option, because she urgently asked for your help as she feared for Vincenzo’s life.
The moment Han-seok found out you were going to “save” Vincenzo, he jumped at the opportunity in chauffeuring your group to his location, but you knew the truth behind his intentions — he wants to make sure Vincenzo is dead.
You pulled up in front of Geumga Plaza as Mr. Nam and another tenant hopped inside the back of the SUV.
“Who is this?” You questioned.
“This is Mr. Lee. He’s a master of breaking people’s necks,” Mr. Nam responded before being grabbed by the neck by Mr. Lee.
“Your first love?” Mr. Lee demanded.
“An Seong-eun.”
“Your treasure?”
“My bike, Cheetah.”
Both you and Han-seok were utterly dumbfounded at the interaction that just unfolded in front of you, but Cha-young looked completely unamused.
“I’ll take care of the killers as soon as we arrive,” Mr. Lee stated with a serious expression.
“Alright,” you shot him a hesitant nod before looking over to Han-seok. “Let’s go.”
He stepped on the gas as the tires screeched into the quiet night, your adrenaline slightly kicking in the closer you got. You weren’t the type to wish death on someone, but if Vincenzo is as dangerous as he is, then he needs to be eliminated. At this point, you don’t care if Cha-young knew of his identity and was just using him to get back at Babel and Wusang, your only concern was Han-seok’s safety. There’s no doubt in your mind that Vincenzo would jump at the opportunity to kill him if he were to find out the truth.
The feeling of disappointment overcame you the moment you guys arrived, and it was self-evident that Vincenzo was alive while the men Han-seok hired were either dead or just knocked out. Cha-young ran and embraced him in a hug while you stood next to Han-seok.
“He’s alive,” you whispered.
“I can see that.”
It appeared that Cha-young and Vincenzo were discussing something, but the sound of a phone vibrating next to you caught your attention. You turned to look at Han-seok, who wore a panicked expression on his face as he clutched his left coat pocket.
“Who’s calli–”
“Fuck,” he silently hissed while clenching his teeth.
You frowned at his behavior, not understanding what was happening. When your eyes followed his and focused on Vincenzo, it didn’t take long to figure out who was calling. Your blood ran cold and your palms grew sweaty. Vincenzo was getting closer to you by the second and you couldn’t risk Han-seok getting exposed.
You subtly turned to face him while reaching for his pocket. “Give me the phone.”
His eyes widened at your request. “Are you out of your mind?”
“I’m not asking you twice,” you angrily whispered. “Give me the phone. He won’t suspect me.”
Not wanting to argue with you, Han-seok carefully passed the phone over to you, giving you the opportunity to shove it inside your own coat pocket. Just as you expected, Vincenzo didn’t question you when he walked past you, but he did shoot you a glance upon hearing the phone vibrating in your pocket.
You felt like you were about to die in that moment.
But much to your relief, he didn’t question you and only let out a deep sigh as he hung up. “There’s no answer.”
“That’s odd. He would answer if he wanted to know what happened.”
You remained emotionless throughout the whole interaction, but deep down you were shaking in fear, that not even Han-seok’s tight grip on your hand was enough to calm you down. The two of you left the scene the moment Vincenzo’s henchmen showed up, and Han-seok drove for a while before swerving the SUV onto the side of the road. He immediately stepped out and slammed the burner phone onto the ground, letting out a few curses and yells.
“Are you okay?” You asked while stepping out of the vehicle.
“He almost got me,” Han-seok breathed out. “How did he beat the three of them all at once?”
You were immune to his yelling and outbursts at this point, and all you could do was stare at him with worry as he repeatedly stomped on the phone.
“We need to think of a plan to take him down.”
“We?” He turned to look at you. “No babydoll, you’re not getting involved anymore.”
“What?”
Han-seok made his way towards you, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. “It won’t be long until he finds out that I’m Han-seok, and the first thing he’s going after is you.”
“That’s not–”
“No. Stop. Listen to me. He will go after you as a way to blackmail me. You’re a walking target at this point, so no more visits to their little law firm. I’m sending you away to the States.”
Hold up. You took a step back as you stared at him in shock. “What? You’re sending me away? Are you serious?”
“Do I look like I’m playing around? Yes ______ I’m serious.”
“You can’t do this.”
“Oh yes I can, and you better not fight me on this. Get in the car.”
Earlier you were shaking in fear, but now you’re shaking in anger. He’s your boyfriend, not your legal guardian. You’re a grown woman who can fend for herself and you don’t need his or anyone’s protection. How dare he think he can just order you around?
When you made no move towards the SUV, he rolled his eyes and spun you around, slowly pushing you towards the truck.
You dug your heels into the ground. “Han-seok stop!”
He only shoved you harder. “Shut up before you piss me off.”
What the fuck is wrong with him?!
You tried to turn your body, but Han-seok had your shoulders in a tight grip. He left no room for you to move and it infuriated you by the second.
“Let me go.”
He ignored you as he tried to push you in the vehicle.
“Han-seok!” You managed to kick his shin which caused him to loosen his grip on you. You wriggled out of his grasp and took a few steps back. “Please listen to me.”
He was livid while he looked at you, and you were unsure if he felt that towards you or Vincenzo. His nostrils were flaring and his fists were clenched. You’ve never seen him this mad before in your life.
“Baby…” you softly muttered. “Please calm down.”
His chest was still heaving but he made no move to grab you anymore, so you saw that as your opportunity in walking towards him and wrapping your arms around his neck. Almost immediately, his arms encased you in a tight embrace and he buried his face in your neck. Han-seok held onto you tightly as you ran your fingers through his air, murmuring soft and soothing words into his ear, causing his erratic breathing to slow down.
“Shh,” you cooed. “I’m right here. He’s not going to hurt me. I’ve seen how close him and Cha-young have grown, so there’s no way she would even let him touch me. If you want me to stay hidden, I’m okay with that. What I’m not okay with is being a thousand miles away from you because baby, at that point, I would much rather be captured by Vincenzo if that meant I would be closer to you. I can be your spy, informant, or whatever else you need me to do. If you need me to kill someone, I’ll do that too. I absolutely adore you Han-seok, and I am willing to do the most fucked up shit for you. I’m not leaving you. You’re stuck with me until you grow sick of me.”
You felt him sigh on your neck before placing a gentle kiss on your skin. “Shit, I fucking love you.”
You froze at his words, but as the seconds passed, your lips curved into the biggest smile you’ve ever experienced. You waited so long to hear those words leave his mouth; to have them be addressed to you. Ever since you first met Han-seok — former Jon-woo — almost a year ago, you immediately fell in love with him. You daydreamed about him confessing his feelings to you, about the two of you growing old and having a family together. You were deeply and utterly in love, and to experience this moment now, was a true blessing.
“I love you more, Jang Han-seok.”
-
“I fucking hate you Han-seok.”
You were sweating liters — no scratch that — buckets of sweat as you leaned against the treadmill. Ever since you devoted your loyalty to your boyfriend, he’s been physically pushing you like crazy. Every day you’ve gone to work out with him and he even hired a martial artist trainer to teach you basic self-defense moves, in case you’re ever in a situation that requires it. You understand why he’s doing all of this but dear god, was it so much.
The sound of a whistle made your body jolt as you quickly shot Han-seok a glare.
Yes, the idiot brings a whistle to your sessions every time.
“Come on babydoll, pick up the pace!” He clapped his hands. “You got this!”
“I’ve been running for the past thirty minutes!” You plopped yourself on the treadmill as it slowly moved you towards the edge, gently dropping you on the floor. “Can we please take a break.”
“You think Vincenzo or his goons will give you a five minute break mid-fight? I don’t think so.” Cue him blowing the whistle. “Now pick up the pace! Hustle!”
“Geez, are you preparing me for Vincenzo or for the fucking war?”
“Baby, this is a war.”
“Says you,” you mumble. “I just wanted to stay home and play Call of Duty.”
“Babydoll, I’ve told you a thousand times, Call of Duty is not good firearm practice.”
Oh great, he mentioned that again. You embarrassingly told him that you could practice using a firearm by learning how to aim and shoot in Call of Duty first. Let’s just say, Han-seok nearly died from laughter when you first brought it up.
“Do not insult NoobMaster69,” you defended yourself. “I’ve gotten so good.”
“I’m sure you have,” Han-seok’s tone was taunting as he made his way towards you. “By the way, have I ever told you how hot you look when you sweat?”
“Mm, no I don’t think so. Enlighten me.”
He grabbed your hands and lifted you up on your feet, and the devil himself wasted no time in gripping your ass. You immediately felt him growing hard against you and your body reacted the same way when you felt a sudden feeling of heat pooling in your area.
After that night where the two of you confessed your love for each other, you went back to his place and basically ripped each other’s clothes apart. That night was filled with both passion and hunger. The two of were craving each other’s bodies for a while, and finally getting a taste of it was so overwhelming that you couldn’t stop. You both went round after round, going at it like animals, before completely knocking out and taking the following day off so you could rest.
Ever since then, neither of you could take your hands off the other.
“The way your body shines with sweats makes me go insane. Your beautiful skin looks so mesmerizing, makes me want to bite you.”
He hoisted you up and placed you on top of a counter, causing you to squint your eyes at him. “Wait don’t you have to go in to work soon?”
“We can make this fast babydoll.”
- smut begins here -
You shot him a smile before connecting your lips together, your hands reached down to pull your leggings off while he fumbled to untie his sweat pants. He pulled you close, lightly tapping his tip against your clit, the action making you both jolt and moan into his mouth. He wasted no time in filling you up completely and pushing you down so you laid with your back against the counter. His movements were fast and rough while he gripped your hip with one hand and had the other wrapped around your throat.
“Oh fuck,” you moaned while gripping the arm that was holding your throat.
“You look so beautiful babydoll,” he groaned, his eyes connecting with yours. “You take it so well. Good girl.”
Fuck, you love it when he praises you.
He knew your body too well already, and while he was thrusting in and out of you, he began to rub your clit with his thumb, the sudden action sending you over the edge. You came all over him as you squirmed underneath his hold, your screams and moans echoing throughout the workout room, as his pace quickened. He was slamming into you repeatedly before he quickly pulled out and spilled his seed all over your stomach, his hips slightly thrusting as he jerked himself off.
- smut ends -
“Fuck, I want to come inside you so bad,” he huffed as he grabbed a towel.
You giggled. “Baby, I told you I’m on birth control.”
“Still a risk I’m not willing to take.”
“Fair point,” you smiled and closed your eyes while he cleaned you up. "Are you going to be busy after your meeting?"
"Yep. I'm going to meet up with Cha-young since we're going to exchange intel."
Now that was news to you. You sprung up and furrowed your eyebrows. "Are you sure that's a good idea? What if she just baits you or gives you false info?"
"The information I'm giving her isn't too important. Don't worry babydoll, I have this all planned out already," he shot you a smile before quickly pecking your lips. "I'll see you tonight okay?"
You nodded your head in return and watched him walk away, feeling relieved that you now have some time to test your theory about Vincenzo. Ever since Han-seok was almost caught by him, he has stuck you to his side every second of the day. You barely had time on your own and you understood where his worry came from, but come on, you’re a girl for pete’s sake. Every girl needs her privacy at some points.
You quickly took a shower and changed into something comfortable. You felt a bit nervous attempting to test your theory, but doing this will only ease your conscious and his.
It felt so odd stepping foot into Geumga plaza; the last time you were here was almost two months ago. You weren’t sure if everyone was going to shoot you a stink eye upon arriving, but the moment you saw Mr. Nam’s eyes light up at your figure, you smiled.
“_______!” He sprung up from his seat, causing a half tired Vincenzo to flinch. “Why haven’t you stopped by?”
“I’m sorry. I kind of felt like I didn’t belong here since I work at Wusang.”
That was true.
“You can always leave them and come work here,” Vincenzo yawned before turning to look at you.
“I think I’m okay for now, but I still took Cha-young’s offer into consideration.”
“Oh! Is it because of Joon-woo?” Mr. Nam wiggled his eyebrows.
“Maybe,” you replied with a grin.
“Have you two kissed?”
“We may have given each other a little peck here and there.”
The two of you giggled like little schoolgirls while shaking each others hands in excitement. Vincenzo groaned at the sight in front of him as he rubbed his face.
“Do you two really have to talk about this right now?”
“Oh come on Vincenzo, it’s not like I haven’t noticed how close you and Cha-young have gotten.”
“What?” He stared at you, completely dumbfounded, while the tip of his ears began to turn pink. Both you and Mr. Nam giggled again and ran towards his desk.
“Is that true Mr. Cassano? Do you like Miss–”
“No,” he immediately responded while avoiding eye contact.
“Oh he totally likes her.”
“He does,” Mr. Nam geeked. “Mr. Cassano, if you both were to get married, can I be your best man?”
“That’s not going to happen.”
“Don’t tell me you prefer Mr. Lee over me!”
“What? No! I meant the wedding is not going to happen Mr. Nam.”
“But you two would make such beautiful babies!”
“Who’s making beautiful babies?”
The two men beside you froze at Cha-young’s voice, neither of you expecting her to show up. Vincenzo quickly began to type gibberish on his laptop, Mr. Nam ran towards his desk before tripping, and you? Well, you grabbed a nearby magazine and pretended to read it.
“______? Why are you…” you heard her pause before letting out a scream. “No!”
“What?!” The three of you questioned.
“Don’t tell me you’re pregnant with that idiot’s baby!”
“What?!” The color drained from your face as you processed what she asked you. “Who said that?!”
“You did!”
“I did not–”
“Who’s pregnant?”
Now it was your time to actually freeze. You should’ve assumed that Han-seok was going to be tagging along with Cha-young, but it never occurred to you that he would show up here. Oh boy, the moment his eyes landed on you, you wanted to run away and hide. He looked pissed.
“You!” Cha-young thankfully broke the dangerous stare down he was giving you as she pointed at him. “You impregnated my best friend?!”
Now it was Han-seok’s turn to freeze as the color drained from his face. His eyes shot open and he genuinely looked mortified. “I… no wait… you’re pregnant?!”
Whatever anger he was feeling towards you before was gone, but at this moment, you felt so embarrassed and awkward. No one gave you a chance to explain yourself because before you knew it, Cha-young ran towards Han-seok and began to hit him with her folder.
“You moron! How dare you not consult with me first! You think it’s okay to just impregnate her after barely getting together?!”
“What?! I’m innocent!” Han-seok defended himself from her blows. “We’ve been careful!”
“Joon-woo!” You covered your face in embarrassment, not expecting him to out your business like that.
It was complete chaos in the Jipuragi Law Firm. After a couple of more seconds, Cha-young and Han-seok calmed down before everyone slowly turned to look at you — more specifically your stomach.
“I’m not pregnant,” you whined.
“Oh thank goodness,” Cha-young breathed a sigh of relief as she made her way towards you. “Also, why the hell haven’t you visited me?! I should beat you up as well.”
“I’m sorry. Things have just been hectic.” Your apology was sincere, but at the same time, your moments with Han-seok has lately been more important than anything else.
Cha-young only huffed out in annoyance. “Fine I’ll accept your excuse. Anyways,” she turned to look at Han-seok, “you ready to go?”
“Sure thing ex-boss,” he beamed his innocent smile before looking at you directly. “Can ______ come as well?”
“I actually need her for something.”
You did not expect Vincenzo to speak up, let alone need you for something. You shot him a questioning look, and before you could even ask, he once again replied.
“She’s going to help me with a certain case.”
“Wh-wha..?” You were too stunned to speak.
Han-seok’s shoulders grew rigid, and if it wasn’t for the fact that he had to keep his identity a secret, you know he would’ve stormed across the room and snatched you up.
“Really? About what?” To everyone else, he might’ve appeared curious, but you knew that your boyfriend was silently losing it.
“It’s confidential as of now,” Vincenzo grabbed his belongings before standing up. “Let’s go.”
“Where though?” You questioned. You didn’t necessarily feel safe heading out with a fucking mafia member. You were one-hundred percent sure that he wouldn’t harm you, yet you still feared for your life.
“It’s not anything dangerous or scary,” he reassured you. “You’re a girl, and I need your opinion on something.”
Now he was making no sense, but nonetheless, you nodded your head and followed him out. You sent Han-seok one last look, trying to tell him that you’ll be okay, but the moment you stepped out of Geumga plaza you felt your phone vibrate.
‘You better turn your location on right now.’
That was a demand, not a question. You quickly did as he asked before hopping inside the SUV with Vincenzo.
“You okay?”
Your palms are super sweaty and you feel like you’re going to pass out any second. No, you’re not okay. You have no clue as to why he needed you to come with him. Is he planning on using you for one of his dirty tasks? Does he know the truth and is actually kidnapping you? What if he’s going to try to torture information out of you?
Oh god, you regret coming along. You should’ve listened to Han-seok and take him up on his offer on tagging along with him and Cha-young. The three of you were so close before, and it would’ve felt nostalgic having the three musketeers reunite for a bit.
“I didn’t think shopping for jewelry would put you in a nervous wreck,” Vincenzo’s voice brought you back to your senses.
You blinked at him, feeling unsure on how to respond. It took you a while to process his words before you answered back like a lost idiot. “Huh?”
Huh? That’s all you could say?
He quirked up an eyebrow. “Are you deaf too?”
“Okay now you’re just being straight up rude.”
“Because you’re not answering me.” You could tell he was getting a bit annoyed, something that made your skin crawl. God, you were so on edge because of him.
“Okay… so enlighten me then. Why are you bringing me along?”
Now it was his turn to look uncomfortable, making your curiosity peak as your eyes trained on the shifting of his shoulders. What he said next almost made you lose your shit.
“Do you know if Cha-young likes jewelry?”
Four hours and fifteen stores later, you managed to help Vincenzo find a gorgeous pair of earrings for Cha-young — though a part of you hoped it would’ve been an engagement ring he was searching for. Nonetheless, this confirmed your suspicion of him fancying Cha-young, and it also eased your worry in suspecting that he would hurt you in any way. You felt accomplished on your mission in getting closer to Vincenzo, more importantly, squeezing your way onto his good side.
After your boy-girl shopping trip, he dropped you back off at Geumga plaza, claiming he had somewhere to go and stating that Joon-woo and Cha-young should be back any time soon. You were currently swirling in one of the chairs in the office, playing Call of Duty mobile, as Mr. Nam typed away on his computer, drinking what appeared to be some soju. The sound of his phone ringing caught your attention, but what made it more peculiar was the way he stared at you in horror.
What the hell is going on?
“Yes, she’s with me.”
He’s talking about you, but who’s on the other line?
“Got it. Okay.” Then he hung up.
Not wanting to be left in the dark, you stood up and made your way towards him. “What’s going on?”
“Um nothing… actually no… Cha-young will explain everything.”
“Explain what? I have a right to know since it was obvious that you were talking about me.”
His phone pinged, resulting in the two of you to stare at it at the same time, and before you knew it, you ran to grab his phone, making him yell and push you back as he held it up high. You didn’t want to hurt him, but you needed to know what was going on. You aimed and kneed him where the sun doesn’t shine, and Mr. Nam let out a choked up scream before collapsing on the ground. You snatched his phone from his grasp and read over the message that Cha-young sent to him.
‘Please don’t tell her yet. I don’t know how she’ll react knowing that Joon-woo isn’t who he says he is. He’s definitely using her to get information from us so let me break the news to her slowly.’
They know. They fucking know.
How? Who told them? What clues were left behind? Was Han-seok being followed? You were sure that your group tossed out the important pieces to the puzzle, that way the Jipuragi Law Firm could not piece together what was destroyed. You guys hid his identity so well, so what the fuck happened? The situation slowly dawned on you when you remembered what Vincenzo said earlier.
“Wait here. Joon-woo and Cha-young should be back shortly, but I have somewhere to go.”
“Where?” You questioned.
You knew he was hiding something, but what exactly? All Vincenzo did was smile and say that it was something important.
You pieced it all together; knowing too well that Vincenzo was most likely on his way to end Han-seok. No, over your dead fucking body. You ran out of the office, ignoring Mr. Nam’s pleas as you whipped out your phone and called Prosecutor Jung, letting him know to check up on Joon-woo as soon as possible.
Vincenzo may or may not be there, but you’re not taking the risk. You are not letting that bastard take away the love of your life. The fear and anger that shook through your body made you almost loose your footing as you wasted no time in calling your boyfriend. He didn’t answer, something that made your worry spike ten times more. You hastily called Ms. Choi who picked up on the first ring.
“What–”
“They know.” You were safely out of Geumga plaza at this point. “They know he’s Han-seok.”
You didn’t have to explain more to her, because she knew who you were talking about. “How?”
“I don’t know yet, but I just found out from looking at Mr. Nan’s phone and seeing Cha-young’s text. Ms. Choi I’m afraid something happened to Han-seok. He’s not answering his phone and…”
You couldn’t even finish your sentence as you began to hiccup with tears running down your cheeks.
“Okay, calm down,” you could hear the frustration and annoyance within her tone. “I’ll try calling him as well. If he calls either of us, let me know.”
“O-Okay.” You hate being weak in front of others — absolutely despise it — especially when it comes to those who show no fear. “I called Prosecutor–”
Then the line went dead. You looked at your phone, your body furiously shaking when you noticed that it lost battery.
“Motherfucker!” You screamed and punched a nearby wall, ignoring the pain that shot up your arm. You simply couldn’t stop. You were livid, your emotions were in no control as you repeatedly punched the brick wall in front of you. Your mind began to envision a certain male figure; making you lose more control of yourself.
“You Mafia bastard!”
You wanted him dead. Funny how things can quickly change within a blink of an eye.
Searching for a cab was surprisingly difficult, but you were thankful that the driver was kind enough to let you borrow his phone. You immediately dialed Ms. Choi’s number and felt relief hit you when she answered.
“Ms. Choi, it’s me.”
There was a long pause on her end before you heard his voice on the other line.
“Babydoll? Are you okay?”
“Han… Han-seok?” You shakily cried.
“What’s wrong? Whose number is this? Fuck _______ where are you right now?”
“I-I’m in a cab right now, on my way to your apartment, but please… are… are you okay?”
You heard him breathe out a sigh of relief. “Don’t worry about me. Take a detour and head to the Prosecutor’s office. I’m currently here with Ms. Choi, okay?”
“Okay, I’ll see you in a second. I love you.”
“I love you too, babydoll.”
The drive to Prosecutor Jung’s office felt like it dragged for ages — even though it was ten minutes away. The moment the cab came to a halt, you scurried out and made your way inside, desperately searching for Han-seok. When your eyes caught sight of him, it felt like you could finally breathe, and before you knew it, you were sprinting towards him. He turned at the sound of your footsteps; looking like he experienced hell as well. In two big strides he was already in front of you, and he scooped you into his arms and held you tightly against his chest.
That’s when you let the tears come out. You were hyperventilating onto his shoulder, gripping the coat of his suit tightly with your sprained hands before they moved to touch his hair, all while he cooed in your ear and left soft kisses on your shoulder. Hugging him has never felt better before. You can be at peace knowing that he’s safe in your arms, but how long will that peace last now that Vincenzo knows about his true identity? The war has just begun, and you plan on fighting in it, to protect the one thing that means the most to you.
No one is going to take him from you. No one is going to ruin your happiness.
You pulled away and took a hold of his face, bringing your lips together in a desperate kiss. He responded almost immediately, but the sound of someone smacking their lips behind Han-seok made you stop. You slowly turned to look at an easily annoyed Ms. Choi, who watched you two with her arms crossed.
“Do you have something stuck in your teeth or do you have a problem with me kissing my boyfriend?” You snapped.
Your comment definitely caught her off guard, and it even threw off Han-seok as well.
“Hey hey,” he directed your attention back to him. “No need to be aggressive baby. You–” his eyes finally trained on your knuckles. “What happened?”
The way his voice got dangerously low made you shudder. “I punched a building, I’m sorry. I was so angry thinking that Vincenzo possibly hurt you and I just couldn’t stop. I’m okay though, it just stings.”
Han-seok proceeded to kiss your knuckles with delicacy. “Mm, so you do get crazy for me, huh babydoll?”
“No one’s taking you away from me.”
“And no one will. I won’t allow that.”
After being in the clear to leave, the three of you were heading towards the exit, both you and Han-seok holding each other close by intertwining your fingers together. After finding out that Han-seok feigned innocence when Prosecutor Jung showed up — thank the lord that you called him — you all collectively agreed to continue to lie about him being Han-seok. As far as you know, Vincenzo has no solid proof against him, which means he can still play the role as Jang Joon-woo.
“You’re leaving already, Mr. Chairman?”
The sound of Cha-young’s voice broke you out of your thoughts. You were hoping that you wouldn’t bump into her, but of course nothing is inevitable.
“Cha-young,” Han-seok spoke out.
“Of course,” Ms. Choi hissed in irritation. “Mr. Jang is a victim of attempted murder. There’s no reason at all for him to kept here.”
Cha-young ignored your supervisor as her eyes were trained on you. “I hope you know he’s lying to you ______.”
“Cha-young, there must be a misunderstanding,” Han-seok tried to explain in a calm tone.
Your body had a mind of its own the moment Cha-young began to slap him, because you shoved yourself forward, pushed her, and slapped her back just as hard. Everyone went silent while her eyes looked at you with betrayal, and for a second you felt a wave of disappointment hit you. Why did I do that? She’s my best friend. Then everything began to flood back. Her and Vincenzo trying to ruin your happiness; to take him away from you. You’re not going to let that slide, and she absolutely deserved to get slapped in the face for even putting her hands on Han-seok.
“______ stop,” Han-seok pleaded while pulling you away from Cha-young. “She needs to hear me out.”
Neither of you said anything, giving him the perfect opportunity to clear his name. “I have no idea what’s going on.”
“Fine, let’s say it’s no big deal for a person to fool another person. You had fun, I feel like shit. You turned my best friend against me and you’re also lying to her. But this is on another level. You brutally murdered innocent people and shamelessly put on an act without feeling any guilt about killing them. That means you are less than human and don’t deserve to live.”
You heard enough. Once again, you placed yourself in between Han-seok and Cha-young. “You need to stop. You’re lucky Joon-woo decided not to press charges against your crazed mafia bastard. If anyone is less than human, it’s him.”
Cha-young scoffed. “Are you serious right now?”
You didn’t feel like entertaining the conversation more, so you took a hold of Han-seok’s hand and made your way towards the exit, but not before saying one last comment to Cha-young as you walked past her.
“You better keep your dog on a tight leash.”
But of course, she always has to have the last word.
“Take good care of your master. We’re done.”
-
The ride back to Han-seok’s apartment was definitively eerie, no one bothering to utter out a word. The severity of the situation was finally settling in, knowing that Han-seok has a target painted at the back of his head, and soon you will too. You’ve come to terms with knowing that Cha-young is no longer going to talk to you. Whatever relationship you had left with her has vanished. Vincenzo is going to come for you all; you will have to plan accordingly to take him down.
It wasn’t a surprise to see Mr. Han and Han-seo waiting for you all in the living room. Han-seok shook his coat off and threw it on the floor, not bothering to take a seat as he began to slowly pace in front of the couches. You took a seat in one of the arm chairs that sat behind him, your body facing the rest of the group. After a few more moments of silence, Han-seo decided to speak.
“It’s a relief seeing that you’re okay, sir.”
“Yes, yes. We’re glad to see that you weren’t harmed,” Mr. Han agreed.
“Damn it,” Han-seok muttered out. You turned to look at him, noticing that he was bent down and slightly grazing the floor with his fingers. He appeared to flick something off before standing up. “The floor got all dirty!”
“That bastard almost shot you, yet you’re worried about the floor?” You deplored.
“Yes babydoll, I am,” he replied almost sarcastically. “Why did they have to come in here with their shoes on?”
Really? You pray that he’s just messing with you.
“Why wasn’t Vincenzo arrested?” He questioned Ms. Choi. Before she could utter out a response, Mr. Han spoke instead.
“Prosecutor Jung concluded that his gun was fake and he should only be charged with intimidation.”
Now that was news to both of you.
“His gun was fake?”
“I think Prosecutor Jung fabricated it,” Ms. Choi explained.
“He calls himself a prosecutor of integrity, but he’s colluding with a Mafia member,” Han-seo scoffed in annoyance.
Oh lord, was that true? You were the one who called Prosecutor Jung to Han-seok’s place, but you weren’t aware that him and Vincenzo could possibly be working together.
“I called him to your place,” you answered while anxiously biting your nails. “When I found out that Vincenzo was possibly going to your place, I called Prosecutor Jung. I didn’t know he could be working with Vincenzo.”
“We don’t know that for sure. We’ll have to do some digging,” Ms. Choi stated before turning to look at Han-seok. “Why don’t you stay low for a couple weeks?”
“Nope, no,” Han-seok plopped down in the armchair next to you. “I’m fine. Let him kill me if he can.”
“Shut up before I slap you,” you snapped, not realizing that you were slightly shaking. Was it anger? Anxiety? Who knows, but you felt very irritable right now.
“Wow, really?” He laughed and leaned his body forward. “Okay, give me your best hit. Come on.”
You had enough. Without saying another word, you stood up and walked towards his bedroom, not wanting to cry in front of the others. You tend to get overly emotional when you grow angry, and you’re not sure why Han-seok is trying to push your buttons after this whole situation. Maybe he’s just trying to act tough and cold in front of the group, but whatever he’s doing, it’s pissing you off. Could he at least be more considerate of your emotions? He saw the way you were back at the station — broken and hysterical.
None of this is a game to you. He could’ve died if Vincenzo chose to show no mercy. It’s frustrating to see that Han-seok fails to grasp how severe the situation has gotten.
Letting out a groan, you plopped yourself on the bed, but the stinging sensation of your bruised knuckles hitting the duvet made you hiss. You inspected them carefully and noticed the dried blood; you also saw the area beginning to swell up. You made your way to the bathroom and began to search Han-seok’s cabinets for any first aid equipment.
And speak of the devil, you heard him walk inside the room.
“What are you going?” He questioned with curiosity.
“Do you have any rubbing alcohol?”
He frowned at your question, before his line of vision focused on your hands. He swiftly marched over to you and grabbed both of your wrists.
“Are you sure they didn’t hurt you?”
You don’t even want to think about that moment. You remember feeling so hopeless, useless, and lonely.
“Babydoll don’t cry please. Just tell me what happened. Did anyone hurt you?”
You didn’t even realize that you were crying, but now that he mentioned it, you couldn’t stop. He brought you in for a hug, careful to not hurt your hands, as he let you cry against his chest.
“I thought I lost you,” you bellowed with anguish. “You… you weren’t answering my calls. I cou… I couldn’t get a hold of you. All I could think about was how that bastard possibly took you from me… so I just lost it and punched that brick wall so many times, pretending that it was Vincenzo.
“He’s fucking dangerous, yet here you are… joking and saying that he can try to kill you. Do… do you not realize how much you fucking mean to me? How frustrating it is to see you gamble with your life. Baby…. please just lay low.”
He kissed the top of your head as he rubbed circles on your back. “I am.”
Your eyes sprung open before looking up to see him. “What?”
“I’m going to stay at my father’s vacation home for a while. Han-seo will handle everything here temporarily.”
You were relieved to say the least, and you couldn’t help but smile at him, your heart leaping in your chest when he smiled back at you.
“I want you to come with me,” he explained while caressing your cheek. “I want to keep you close.”
He doesn’t even have to ask you twice, the answer will always be yes. His fingers tucked themselves underneath your chin while his thumb grazed your lips. You softly kissed it, feeling a warm hum of affection building inside you as you met his gaze. Without a word, he leans in, pressing his lips against yours in a tender, meaningful kiss. You felt his fingers wrap themselves behind your neck while you placed both of your hands on either side of his face.
You held each other closely, as if making sure that this moment was real and you were both safe. Today was a close call — something neither of you could risk happening ever again. Others may see your relationship as sick and twisted, but nothing is more powerful in this world than love, and that’s something that’s holding you two together. You’re each other’s motivation; the sole reason of not giving up. Han-seok would kill every single person that tries to take you from him if he has to, and you? Well, you would do the exact same.
You may not be sinister or sick as him, but you’re crazy in love, and that’s enough motivation to keep you going, to fight for what is yours. No one — not Vincenzo or Cha-young — will take Han-seok away from you.
And if they do, then you can play the crazy mourning girlfriend, and strike them both when they least expect it.

Cheong-san plunged the edge of the phone into his left eye and he screamed in agony. While distracted with his pain, Cheong-san followed his instinct and threw him into the mob below.
Please forgive me, (Y/n)...
You had sat in the same spot for about 10 minutes when you decided you had gotten tired of sitting still and needed to move around a bit, even if you just paced back and forth. You’d figured out when you first came in here that the wild piano playing was from a young girl trapped underneath the piano on the other side of the room. She was a zombie, of course, and you couldn't help from feeling bad about how she’d been unable to even have a chance at escaping.
You’d been pacing for so long the wooden floor was starting to have skid marks from your rubber soles on it. You thought of different plans desperately, trying to find one that would be able to get you out of this situation and back to your friends.
Back to Su-hyeok.
You couldn’t believe it when you heard the door open, fearing the worst and not bothering to turn around even when you heard the soft and hesitant footsteps.
“(Y/n)?” The voice said and you swiftly turned around to see Cheong-san there with a hesitant and terrified face. Once he’d realized you weren’t a zombie, his face transformed from one of being terrified to one of extreme relief with a hint of guilt for some reason. He rushed toward you and brought you into a hug that you instinctually returned. He held you tightly in a friendly embrace upon your reunion and you held him back just as tightly, glad that even if you couldn’t completely keep your promise to On-jo, he came out safe and sound.
At least you thought so.
You pulled away and looked him over, turning him around so you could see his back and then back around again when you realized he was indeed safe with no serious injuries or worse, bite marks.
“Oh, thank god,” he exclaimed as he also looked you over to see you were safe. “I was so worried I’d lost you forever there.”
“Yeah, to be honest, me too. I wasn’t sure if I would make it out alive and I have no idea how I was able to make it here without getting hurt. How about you? How the hell did you make it here? I thought you went downstairs?” You interrogated and slapped his arm at his stupid actions.
He took a deep breath before determination set on his face and he stared you directly in the eyes. “(Y/n), I need to tell you something-”
A soft squealing noise from the speakers interrupted him and you both looked at it in confusion. After a few seconds, you heard voices coming through
“Anyone?” A voice that sounded like Joon-yeong sounded out softly.
“I've never done it before,” a voice like Dae-su’s called out and a smile grew onto your face at the sound of your new friends’ bantering.
“Somebody do it. Dae-su?” Another voice spoke, this one more feminine and sounding like either On-jo or Hyo-ryung.
“Here goes nothing… Uh, mic test. One, two. One, two. Cheong-san and (Y/n), are you there? We-”
“What are you doing?” A voice that you recognized instantly as Su-hyeok’s spoke and the grin on your face faded to a small smile of relief. It seemed like so long ago that you had heard him even if it was maybe only an hour ago.
“Hey, (Y/n), Cheong-san, do you hear us?”
“It's Su-hyeok,” you spoke softly and Cheong-san gave you a smile.
“It's Su-hyeok,” Su-hyeok repeated and you and Cheong-san laughed a little at the coincidence. “We'll come to you, so stay put. Got it?”
“Hell no, not happening-”
“Don't come, moron. You're gonna get bit-”
You and Cheong-san spoke at the same time, protesting to the speakerphone.
“I know what the both of you will say, but we can't hear you here.”
“What the hell are you doing, Bare-su?” Cheong-san whispered and you just shook your head as you walked towards the door, looking through the window to see if it was clear.
“So don't go anywhere. Wait for us. You really can't go anywhere, okay? We'll come now.”
Just as you were about to open the door, seeing that there were no zombies nearby for the time being, his next words stopped you in your tracks like a deer in headlights.
“(Y/n). I know you’re stubborn and never take any of my advice, but please. Please stay where you’re at. For me?” He whispered the last part and you leaned your forehead against the glass of the sliding door, debating with yourself on which you would do: stay and wait for the group, or go to them.
You didn’t really get any say in the matter when a zombie suddenly ran up to the door and slammed against it, its blood covered mouth smearing along the glass.
“Yeah, nope…” You concluded and went over to take a seat on one of the chairs in the room. You ignored the rest of what the group was unintentionally saying into the microphone and laid your head down when suddenly On-jo spoke directly to Cheong-san.
“Cheong-san. Please stay still. I know you never listen to me, but please do it this time.”
You saw Cheong-san stop in his tracks from where he too was about to open the door and run out. He walked over to sit next to you and you both sat in a comfortable silence.
“Time for meditation,” a sudden and unfamiliar voice interrupted the silence and you shot up, confused.
Tranquil music started playing and your confusion turned into an amused smile.
“Once again, another fun day at school,” you laughed at the voice and leaned your face on one of your hands while the other wrapped itself around your waist.
“Everyone, close your eyes… and calm your hearts.”
You turned around to look at Cheong-san and immediately bursted out laughing at the annoyed smile he had on his face.
“They couldn’t have picked any better music?” He asked with distaste.
“Aw, come on Cheong-san, you don’t wanna meditate?” You teased and sat on one of the desks with your legs crossed and your hands placed palm up on your knees. “Let us meditate together, my young padawan.”
“You’re so stupid,” he laughed and you pouted at him before falling backwards so you were lying down on the desks.
“Yeah? We’ll you’re just an ultra big meanie,” you insulted childishly and flipped him off which he snorted at.
You suddenly heard a bunch of growling and shot up again, getting back on your guard as you saw dozens of zombies run down the hallways towards the corridor speaker.
“Now that’s why they did it! That’s smart,” you complimented and Cheong-san nodded in agreement.
You sat there for a minute until the door burst open and the group came trampling in.
“Oh, shit,” Dae-su exclaimed as he walked over to where the two of you were and pulled you both in for a hug. “Where were you guys? Idiots.”
“Where's On-jo?” Cheong-san asked worriedly and seconds later the girl came rushing in. “On-jo!” Cheong-san shoved himself out of Dae-su’s arms so he could rush towards her and Dae-su focused his energy on squeezing the life out of you.
“(Y/n)! I never would have thought I would miss your glare so much!” He cried out dramatically and you laughed as you returned the hug, basking in the embrace of a friend.
“How did you guys know we were here?” You heard Cheong-san ask and turned around just in time to see him get kicked in the back of the knees by On-jo.
“I told you not to go! Why don't you ever listen to me?” She complained with a voice ready to start crying.
“Hey, save the lovers' quarrel for later,” Dae-su stopped the argument and went over to help lift Cheong-san up.
“Let's go!” Wu-jin directed, panting to get his breath.
“Where?” You asked, still stuck on how they even knew where you and Cheong-san were.
“We have to get to the roof before the meditation music ends.”
You looked behind On-jo in worry as you didn’t see either of your best friends anywhere in sight.
“Let's go. Hurry!” Dae-su urged but you stopped their movements when you spoke.
“Wait! Where’s Nam-ra and Su-hyeok? They were with you guys… right? Where are they now?”
On-jo looked stunned, just now realizing the same thing as you but you didn’t wait for her to react as you quickly opened the door and rushed outside.
“Where are you going?” Cheong-san anxiously asked as you rushed out.
“Hey! Hey! Hey!” Dae-su called out after you as both he and Cheong-san ran after your retreating form.
You stopped running and sighed in relief when you saw Nam-ra and Su-hyeok running down the hall, Nam-ra holding her arm in pain and Su-hyeok running behind her to make sure she didn’t fall behind with blood splattered across his face.
“Are you crazy? Don't go by yourself!” Cheong-san commanded when he and the group caught up to you.
Your look of relief vanished as you saw the concern and sternness on both of their faces as they came closer.
“Go in! Go inside!” Su-hyeok demanded and everyone turned around to see the zombies that had once gathered at the speaker were now chasing toward them.
“Shit! Go back!” You yelled.
“They're coming!” Dae-su yelled as he ran back into the classroom, everyone following close behind with Su-hyeok to be the last one there and the one who closed the door behind him.
“They can still see us!” You expressed nervously and speedily ran towards one of the curtains that hung across the wall with the doors in the room.
“Yes! The curtains. Come on!” Joon-yeong told everyone and they all ran to cover the windows with the curtains before pausing to take a deep breath of relief.
Nam-ra ran towards the windows facing the outside and closed those curtains before turning towards where the zombie stuck under the piano was.
“There's a zombie there,” you started as you walked towards her. “Don’t worry, though, it’s caught under a piano, so it can’t go anywhere.”
She nodded and you brought her into your arms for a tight hug. She sighed against your shoulder and you squeezed her harder before letting her go and giving her a tight smile. The both of you leaned back against two desks with your hands interlocked as the group started talking again.
“We can't… go to the roof…” Hyo-ryung stated sadly and your head turned to her. “We're trapped again, aren't we?” Although the sentence was a question, it was stated like a fact.
“There are zombies out there, so…” Su-hyeok started to explain and your eyes locked, you could feel your eyes burn by how he looked at you; with so much pain and regret and guilt and relief that you couldn’t handle it. You smiled at him before turning your head back so it was facing forward. “Let's just think a little.”
“This is so annoying,” you heard Nam-ra whisper irritatedly from beside you and you rubbed your thumb over her knuckles in an attempt to comfort her while also comforting yourself.
After a few beats of silence, only interrupted by the group’s heavy breathing, Hyo-ryung suddenly stood up and she looked at you and Nam-ra, horrified.
“Hey. Hey, Nam-ra,” she started and your gaze finally found its way to her face. “What happened to your arm?” She pointed towards your best friend’s arm while backing up. “That's a bite mark, isn't it?”
As everyone started to stand up and back away from the two of you, you just looked down at where her “bite” was and sure enough there was a bite there. Not moving or letting go of her in any way, you just stared at the bite in silence, biting your lip as tears sprung in your eyes and your nose stung.
“No. No, no, no. Please no! I can’t lose you!” You whispered as you begged whatever god was listening to hear your prayers and leaned your forehead onto Nam-ra’s shoulder. Su-hyeok came rushing up to defend her when Cheong-san charged forward with a music stand in his hands.
“No. That’s not it,” he tried to explain but Cheong-san was insistent.
“Move. Step back, Su-hyeok.”
“That's not it, asshole,” Su-hyeok explained harshly again and turned back to Nam-ra who had an arm wrapped around your shoulder to comfort you.
“Tell him. You weren't bitten by a zombie,” he begged her but she stayed silent. Your tears subsided as you heard him say that and now you just looked confused. “Say something!” From out of your eyesight, Dae-su and Wu-jin had snuck towards you and ripped you out of Nam-ra’s grasp, holding onto you tightly as you thrashed to go back to her.
As Su-hyeok stepped towards you at your cries in order to help, you saw Cheong-san dash forward with the music stand again and you screamed. “No!”
Su-hyeok rushed back to stand in front of Nam-ra and stop Cheong-san from delivering any blows.
“Gwi-nam! He bit her. It wasn’t zombies,” he explained. Your struggles died down in surprise and you just gaped at him in a state of shock.
“Who?” Cheong-san asked in confusion.
“Gwi-nam. The bully.”
“Yoon Gwi-nam?”
“Yeah,” Su-hyeok confirmed and Cheong-san turned to Nam-ra.
“Nam-ra. Did Gwi-nam really bite you?” She shot a glance at you but you didn’t notice from how you continued to stare at the boy who brought the heartbreaking and unbelievable news to you all. She nodded slightly.
“Say it clearly,” Cheong-san demanded.
“It’s true,” Su-hyeok had confirmed in Nam-ra’s stead since she was continuing to remain quiet.
“Gwi-nam was bitten by zombies,” Cheong-san told him and he scoffed in disbelief.
“Bullshit.”
“I saw him get bit. If you get bitten by zombies, you turn into one,” he explained what all of you already knew as if Su-hyeok had forgotten it. “So if Gwi-nam bit her-”
“He's not one of them!” Su-hyeok yelled and the zombies behind the curtains started growling louder and banging on the doors and windows. “Gwi-nam wasn't a zombie,” he stated more quietly but still in a stern and convinced tone. “He wasn’t. He literally talked to me,” he turned to Nam-ra for help but she hadn’t taken her eyes off of you. “You saw him. He wasn't a zombie at all.”
“What?”
Your soft voice cut through the air like a knife and everyone’s attention turned to you where you were still held onto by Dae-su even after you had stopped struggling. Su-hyeok and Cheong-san both looked at you with guilty eyes filled with remorse and regret.
“My brother did this? My brother bit you?” You asked as you looked at Nam-ra and she looked devastated. “A-and he’s… he’s a zombie?” You continued as tears streaked down your cheeks unwillingly. You turned to Cheong-san. “You saw him get bit? When was that? Why didn’t you tell me?” You let out, your breathing staggering and growing uneven as you continued to mentally comprehend all the information that was thrown at you in the past 2 minutes.
Su-hyeok let out a sigh of anger and regret. He couldn’t believe he had said all those things in front of you with no hesitation or tenderness. He carefully walked over to you and Dae-su let you go. Your knees buckled from the overwhelming sensation of your emotions rampaging but Su-hyeok caught you in his arms just in time before you fell. He whispered apologies into your hair as your tears soaked through his blazer despite how your body showed no other signs of you crying.
Nam-ra turned back to look at Cheong-san before standing up. “Are you sure he was bitten by a zombie?”
“Yeah,” he confirmed, his eyes only flickering away from you for a second to answer her question.
“So I'll turn into a zombie,” she concluded.
“No!” You screamed out and left Su-hyeok’s arms to rush over to her, grabbing her upper arms and squeezing as you looked her dead in the eyes. “You won’t. Su-hyeok said that Gw...” you stopped when your voice broke. “That he wasn’t a zombie, at least not a full zombie,” you turned around to look at the group, specifically at Cheong-san. “I’m not saying you’re a liar but I also believe that Su-hyeok had seen him and he wasn’t a zombie. She won’t turn. She won’t. I know it,” you stated confidently.
Nam-ra grabbed your hand and squeezed it, getting your attention and turning you back towards her. “(Y/n)...” She brought you into a proper hug and you sobbed once. “Thank you… I’ll never forget your friendship,” she whispered in your ear before pushing you away gently and walking towards the classroom door.
“Nam… please!” You begged and she stopped in the middle of the room, turning back to look at you.
“I always loved that nickname,” she turned back around to walk towards the door but you rushed forward to grab her hand.
“You won’t turn. You won’t,” you told her as convincingly as possible before wiping your tears aggressively and walking back towards the group, dragging her behind you as she struggled to free herself from your grip. You elbowed Su-hyeok lightly to continue with his defense and he started immediately.
“She won't turn into one. Don't you trust me?”
“I saw when Gwi-nam got bitten,” Cheong-san’s eyes flittered to you as he spoke and they were filled with guilt that seemed to increase with every pass over your face. “It happened after fighting with me.”
“I fought him, too. Believe me,” Su-hyeok grabbed your free hand with one of his own as he spoke and squeezed three times, the usual thing you two did to non-verbally express an apology. “I know.”
Squeezing Su-hyeok’s hand tightly, you shook him off and dragged Nam-ra over to the window where you yanked open the curtains and opened one of the windows, turning back around to face the group, your hand still holding onto hers.
“There. Problem solved. If she turns I’ll just push her out of the window and none of you will be harmed in the process. Okay? So put the fucking music stand down and back the fuck off,” you told all of them with a sharp glare.
“(Y/n),” Nam-ra tugged on your hand and brought your attention down to her. “You shouldn’t do this.”
You gaped at her, mouth opened slightly in slight disbelief. “Nam-ra. You are my best friend. Like hell am I letting you get away that easily.”
Your slight joke fell upon deaf ears as your serious tone covered it up.
“(Y/n),” you heard Cheong-san say to you and so you turned back to him.
“Back the fuck up.”
He lifted the music stand so he was holding it like a baseball bat and you glared at him, an act that unfortunately had no effect on him.
“I’m warning you, Cheong-san. Don’t come any closer,” you threatened but he just shot you back a glare of his own as his eyes filled with protectiveness.
“Screw you, (Y/n). I warned you first. Gyeong-su was enough, I won’t lose any more friends.”
You took a deep breath before spitting out your words with venom coating your tongue.
“Well then, I guess it’s a good thing we’re not friends. Isn’t it, Cheong-san?”
His glare hardened and he rolled his eyes. “You and I both know that fact has changed over the past day. You’ve made friends with everyone here no matter what you want to believe. We all care for you, which is exactly the reason why I’m not going to let you do this to yourself.”
“Well too fucking bad, because you can’t fucking stop me,” you told him, not bothering to speak about any of the previous things, knowing you would lose that argument.
“Get out of my way,” he demanded.
“Cheong-san, stop it,” Su-hyeok tried.
“Get out of my way!” he yelled again but your hold just tightened on Nam-ra’s hand while you stayed silent.
Su-hyeok pushed Cheong-san away and they started shoving each other when Nam-ra suddenly screamed out, “Stop it, both of you!”
They pushed each other away as both of them turned back to look at the two of you.
“If I feel strange in any way… I'll just end it quickly.”
You wiped away the stray tear that fell from your eyes at her words.
“Sorry, but-” Cheong-san started, about to convey more doubts about her condition until she interrupted him.
“No need to be sorry. I'm actually not sorry, not at all.”
“... sorry,” he continued and looked down in shame.
“Su-hyeok,” Nam-ra called out to him. “Kill me if I turn,” she turned to look at you. “I know you won’t be able to.”
“Hey, wait!” You called to her and tried to yank her back as she hopped up to sit on the ledge of the window but she just pulled your hands into her lap while her free one was holding onto the window frame to support her balance.
After a while, when you were leaning against the window and rubbing your fingers against the knuckles of Nam-ra’s hand while avoiding the eyes of Su-hyeok, you felt other eyes on you. You turned to look at Nam-ra only to see her staring intently at your neck. You smiled sadly as you knew what most likely was happening and not wanting to accept it.
“Nam?”
She grabbed your neck and pulled you closer to her just as you saw Cheong-san rush towards the both of you.
“(Y/n)!”
You turned your body so you were standing in front of Nam-ra to prevent her from receiving the blow, intending to take it yourself. You clenched your eyes tightly and waited for the pain to come but when the sound of the music stand hitting somebody’s body came, you felt nothing.
“Get out of the way!” Cheong-san yelled from behind you and you turned to see him with the music stand still in his hands except now it was broken and the top piece was across the room.
“Stop it!” Su-hyeok yelled at him from his place right in front of you where he was behind you just seconds before, and you finally connected the dots.
Su-hyeok took the blow for you.
Just as Cheong-san rushed forward, intending to strike again, Su-hyeok charged at him and slammed him on his back against a desk while raising a clenched fist in the air as a threat. “I said to stop it!”
Stupid asshole!” Cheong-san yelled back and punched him in the face, successfully getting him off of him as they tussled around the room. You quickly moved to help Nam-ra as she weakly fell from the window sill and sat her into a chair while the boys fought on the other side of the room.
She breathed heavily and clenched her eyes shut as if fighting off something in her head. You heard different voices yelling over each other as they tried to break up the fight and turned back to see On-jo standing in front of the two of you and Su-hyeok holding Cheong-san back.
“Get out of my way! Let go of me!” He screamed as he resisted.
“Stop it. Are you blind? Look at Nam-ra,” On-jo surprised you as she defended your best friend. “She would have blood on her mouth if she bit her. Does she?” There was a pregnant pause as everyone looked at Nam-ra. “And she's not bleeding, right?” She defended more.
“It's true. There's no wound,” Dae-su pointed out as everyone then looked to you, no blood or wound from a bite anywhere on your body.
“But if Gwi-nam bit her-” Cheong-san started again.
“She's still fine, which means you'll be fine,” On-jo’s eyes shifted down to where he still held tightly to the music stand. “Come on, put that down. Stop being stubborn.”
The boy started to shake Su-hyeok off as he was still holding him. “Let go. I got it. Let go. Fuck,” he groaned.
“Why won't you drop that?” On-jo insisted.
“That's my business,” he told her and she rolled her eyes before turning to crouch down beside the two of you.
“Are you okay?” She questioned Nam-ra who stared forward blankly.
“Why do you care?”
“What?”
“It's just… it’s weird,” you started. “You've always hated us, so why are you suddenly starting to care now?”
On-jo looked down, “Sometimes, I still do,” she looked back up to stare you directly in the eye with an empathetic look. “But what's wrong is wrong.”
“She seems fine. Let's…” Wu-jin voiced after a silence once again settled over the group.
“She would've definitely turned by now,” reasoned Joon-yeong.
“No,” Nam-ra stated and stood up, you following her soon after to help her keep her balance while standing up straight, your hands separating in the process. “I'm not okay. I wanted to bite (Y/n).”
You stared at her in silence with a sad smile, knowing she was right and not being able to refute her words in any way.
“I really did,” she said again, still looking straight ahead, unable to meet your eyes. “I wanted to bite her.”
“Wait, what do you mean by that?” Cheong-san asked stupidly and you would have mocked him in any other circumstance.
“I mean… I wanted to bite her.

Kingpin: Chapter 1
Opening/The Invitation
Tumblr media
Warnings: Violence (physical violence, including a character punching a wall out of anger)
Kidnapping/Disappearance (The central plot involves the disappearance of a character)
Emotional Distress (Jin’s going through a rough patch emotionally and mentally)
Mafia/Crime Themes (story involves criminal activities, including organized crime, mafias, and rivalries)
Tense Atmosphere (The story maintains a consistently tense atmosphere, which may be unsettling for some readers)
——
In the heart of Seoul, where the air gets damp and cold, and nobody who was a nobody dared to enter without permission or invitation, a tall building sat. On the top floor, the CEO of Sentinel Solutions, South Korea’s most prominent security consulting firm, was in a panic.
He was a tall man, standing at about 5’10. His brown hair was styled into a mullet and parted with a prominent swoop on the right side of his face. Always dressed in a clean, ironed suit, the man was about 37, and behind his charmingly good looks, he was one of the most feared people you could imagine.
His name?
Kim Seokjin.
Seokjin, whose front business already generated enough revenue to keep him wealthy for the rest of his life, had been dealing with a problem in his true walk of life. One where he was known as the Onyx Reaper, kingpin of the biggest crime syndicate in Seoul, the Ecliptic Shadows.
“Boss, we have no leads on Jiwoo.” A deep voice called from the door. It was one of Seokjin’s most trusted members, Taehyung. Taehyung had come to let his boss and friend know that his sister, who had vanished into thin air the previous air, was still not found.
Seokjin, who had shed tears upon tears when his employees weren’t with him, got up and punched the plaster in the wall out of anger.
“I want every available man searching, search all of Korea if you have to! Nobody stops until my sister is safe under our protection!”
Taehyung bowed to his boss, and left the office. As he was walking down the hall, he came across his best friend Jimin who hadn’t gotten a wink of sleep all night.
“How did it go?” He asked.
“Not good. He punched another hole into his wall.” Taehyung answered sadly as the two walked hurriedly to where her disappearance was being investigated.
“I didn’t realize their fight yesterday was this bad. Do you have a clue what it was about?” Jimin asked as he sat down at his desk.
“No idea. All I remember was them screaming at each other before she locked herself in her bedroom. Next thing I knew, the alarm was tripped and she was gone without a trace,” Taehyung answered.
——
After searching day and night for two days, Seokjin was on edge continuously. His sister had still not been found, and the longer she’s missing, the less of a chance she’ll be found alive.
While he was at his desk searching through evidence, his youngest friend, Jungkook, walked in with an invitation in hand.
“Jin- um sir-“ he started but was interrupted.
“What.” Jin said and looked up.
“One of our allies sent this invitation to his son’s wedding. Apparently it’s really important you show.” Jungkook said and handed Jin the invitation.
Jin read to himself,
“Dear Seokjin,
You are cordially invited to Minjae’s wedding. I know we have been dear allies and good friends for a while, so it is requested you show your support and celebrate with us. It has been a while since you have attended any functions with us. Come say hello! The ceremony is at 2pm sharp this Saturday. I hope to see you!
Sincerely,
Park Joon-ho.”
“Jin, I know this is a critical time but I figured we could weed out suspects at the wedding. Many different mafias are coming including… Namjoon.” Jungkook confessed.
Jin banged his fist on his desk in anger.
“That asshole? Why is he showing up?” Jin shouted.
“I’m not sure but I have a bad feeling. He never attends events like this.” Jungkook said.
Jin thought for a moment. He made a decision.
“Fine, we’ll all go. But there will be people searching while we are there.”
——
The day of Park Minjae’s wedding had arrived. Seokjin, Taehyung, Jimin, and Jungkook arrived along with extra security in case something went wrong.
They took their positions and sat through the wedding, constantly on alert for any danger. Little did they know, three pairs of eyes were watching from the back row, watching their every move. The head of the three was very interested in speaking with the Onyx Reaper.
At the reception, everyone was communicating and speaking of relations when Jin was approached.
“Kim Seokjin, a pleasure to see you out and about.” The deep voice spoke.
Jin turned around and came face to face with his rival.
Kim Namjoon, the Shadowstorm Reaper, and head of the Obsidian Syndicate.
——
Kingpin Chapter 1 is finally here! I can’t wait for you all to read what I have been working on. I hope you all love it! If you do, please comment or reblog and show some love!

#FOR FREE
I see Joon's feet trending under the #FOR FREE tag but excuse me? We got THIS FOR FREE for thirty plus minutes?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm still very speechless.
Jimin playing hard to get.
Jimin telling JK needed to go to sleep because he had schedules later that day, basically making sure JK stayed on-task.
Jimin saying he STILL gets scolded by JK.
Jimin shutting down any ideas of a live with JK.
DAMMIT JIMIN YOU WERE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO DO A LIVE WITH A FEW MONTHS AGO COME ONNNNNNN!?!?!?!
Yes, JK literally has tried to lure Jimin with food, beer, working out, beefcake (flexed his bicep), he's asked coyly, assertively and begged unabashedly. Even Armys tried to convince Jimin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The comparisons of this to Seven's MV are hilarious... yup, next thing we'll see is JK faking his own death serenading Jimin from his casket.
"Come on Jimin, let me come over, I'll bring my shower stuff and we can do it in the shower... I mean from the shower... or just whatever, pleeeeeeez...."
Tumblr media
Knowing Jimin's default is naked while at home and him texting JK a pic? Please can y'all stop sending dick pics to each other while we are watching?
K-Army is saying the tone of voice JK was using, the context, the polite/casual speech they both used was off the charts couply. A lot of us are international Army and all we see are straight up dry translations and can't really understand how important all those things are in communicating in Korean society. It is easy for I-Armys to interpret the dry translations differently than how Koreans interpret them. I depend a lot on what K-Army says and defer to them as to how to interpret Jimin and Jungkook's relationship.
But seriously, even I could tell JK was speaking in satoori when he was chiding Jimin about saying he wasn't in condition to do a live... "we don't worry about that Jimin, we just do it when we feel like it."
Jimin: "you've forgotten what my personality is like"
I can hear Jimin now... "I don't have any makeup on..." Jimin-ssi. Please. Slip off your chelsea boots, leave your hair alone and relax a little. It's not like you've NEVER done a live before with no makeup and bed head.
We have JK on one side being the free-spirit/in-the-moment-go-with-the-mood vibe and Jimin on the other side being rigid and in total control of everything.
I'm still salty because Jimin censored himself during his Face album live when he realized there were young people watching as he was about to explain his concept of looking in the bathroom mirror in the Like Crazy MV.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I see a collision happening with these two mindsets and I think Jimin sees it too hahahahaha! "I'M SCARED OF YOU!" he doesn't know what kind of shenanigans will happen when they are together on a live because we also know Jimin LOVES HIS JK and can't resist climbing all over him when they are together!
Who could resist that:
Tumblr media
Jungkook swapped the stud in his newest lip piercing for another lip ring and he re-pierced his right ear and the jewelry is very pretty. The earrings have a very fine chain hanging from the first to the last hoop. Edgy and delicate at the same time.
Tumblr media
We have expectations now for his next live. Keep moving those chains JK! Maybe joking about a live while showering is not such a joke after all.... I'm kinda scared too, Jimin.
JK's July 27 live:
I had started a blog post about the July 27 two and a half hour live but NOOOOoooOOOOOooo, JK has moved the line again with the naked-in-the-bed live, so it's almost pointless to blog about the one from the previous day now.
Except I was thrilled when he responded to my ask if he had seen Jimin's Barbie guitar. What a thrill to interact with him in real time... I'm still just... wow ...
But a few things I took away from that two and a half hour live:
JK getting so emotional when he watched and listened to the Army Love Letter song. I broke down in tears as soon as I saw him being overcome.
And the live translating is not automated, its done by real people:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
About 15 minutes into this purple 2.5 hour live, someone must have asked about Tae's album because JK says yes, he's heard a few songs and they're good. I am very excited to hear what Tae has created, especially after seeing the music critic say it is something unexpected. Of course, Tae's love for Bing Crosby-ish vibes could be what he's talking about and that wouldn't surprise me if that's the direction Tae goes. Later, someone in the comments asked if Tae would do a Seven dance challenge with him and he said Tae wouldn't do it. Why not Tae? Hmmphf. Fine.
Anyway...
Right before logging out, JK sang Jimin's Dear.Army (Letter) swaying back and forth so sweetly!!!! It was so beautiful. Might be the closest we come to hearing them singing it together. He loves that song.
Tumblr media
Tomorrow we get to watch JK's episode of Suchwita and the day after that we will see him on Inkagayo.
All of that and I still think about Jimin and Jungkook had a camera crew with them on that dang boat in Connecticut a few weeks ago... if it was for a Seven TikTok, shouldn't it have been out by now?... so where will we eventually see that? Hmmmmmm???

birthday drabble 6 - knj
Anonymous asked: “I want to fulfill that fantasy you’ve always wanted” with Namjoon.
pairing: namjoon x reader contains: smut!! established relationship, reader has a breeding kink (my first time writing breeding kink so BE NICE !! 😤), overstimulation, multiple orgasms for both of them oop 👀, a lot of talk about cum lmao, cockwarming if you squint?, dirty talk, condomless sex but BC mention summary: your boyfriend wants to try something new for your anniversary.
want more? check out all my birthday drabbles here! requests for these are now closed 💜
“You want to get pregnant?!” Namjoon’s eyebrows nearly shoot off his forehead, and you collapse back against the bed with a groan.
“No! It’s not like that.” You knew this would be hard to explain, and you’re starting to regret bringing it up.
The two of you had started talking about your upcoming anniversary, and Namjoon had taken his time, kissing you and gently running his strong hands over your body before he’d asked the question, making sure you were riled up enough to answer honestly.
He’d pulled back, pressed his forehead to yours, and murmured, “You know what I really want to do next week?”
You’d searched his eyes, still breathless from his kisses, and he’d smiled a little.
“I want to fulfill that fantasy you’ve always wanted. Just tell me what it is.”
And now you’ve spent the last ten minutes trying to explain a breeding kink to him, and the mood is thoroughly killed. You decide to try one more time before you scrap the idea entirely. Maybe you can just peg him or something instead. Might be easier.
“Think of it like role play. I don’t actually want to get pregnant, but the idea of talking about it and pretending to… I don’t know. It’s hot, to me.”
Namjoon lays back on the bed next to you, taking your hand in his, scooting down so you’re shoulder to shoulder. He gently presses his full lips to the back of your hand. “Okay,” he says simply, mouth brushing against your skin. “If that’s what you want, I’ll do it.”
The night of your anniversary, Namjoon moves you through sweet, romantic foreplay, nothing different from the way he normally does it. He works multiple orgasms out of you with his hands and his tongue, and amazing as it is, you start to wonder if maybe he forgot about his promise.
But you have a hard time holding onto that thought– or any of them, really– once he’s pounding into you, your legs wrapped tightly around his waist. You’re clawing at the bedsheets and gasping for air as the head of his thick cock rubs over your g-spot again and again.
“You look so good like this, baby,” he grunts in your ear, and you can tell from the way his voice shakes that he’s close. “Taking it so well.”
“Fuck, Joon,” you breathe. “You feel so fucking good.”
He presses his face into the crook of your neck, clearly trying to keep it together, and the strangled sound he makes has you reflexively tightening around him. You’re expecting him to slow down, maybe even pull out and go down on you again for a while, but instead, his pace increases. His hips snap into you even harder, enough to make your eyes roll back in your head.
“I’m gonna fill you up with my cum,” he groans, voice straining from the effort, and you whimper at the words. As many times as you’ve imagined this, it sounds even hotter than you expected when he says it.
“Please, Joon, please. I want your cum so bad.”
You don’t have to ask twice– with a loud groan of relief, he pushes his length all the way into you. You can feel his cock twitch and pulse as he comes, and though it’s much sooner than he normally does, you’re still floating on cloud nine just from hearing him talk like that.
“I love you,” you say with a small smile. You’re already preparing for the rest of your typical routine: he’ll kiss you until he can catch his breath, then pull out, go get a towel, and clean you up.
The intensity still burning in Namjoon’s eyes when he looks at you tells you that tonight might go a little differently.
He makes a face that’s almost a grimace, and his hips just barely start to roll into you again, slower than before.
“Keep your legs up.” His voice is suddenly serious, tinged with a commanding tone you rarely hear from him. Before you even have time to process the order, his hands are sliding up the backs of your thighs, and he presses down, essentially folding you in half beneath him. “Don’t spill a single drop.”
“Fuck,” you gasp. You can feel his cock starting to swell again as he moves, and the filthy, wet noise of him fucking into you when you’re already full of his release is almost too much for your brain to handle. The new angle gives him even better access to completely bottom out inside of you.
“I’m gonna give you more,” he practically growls. “Gonna make sure you’re nice and full. Gonna put my fucking kids in you.”
You should’ve known. Your boyfriend doesn’t half-ass anything. He does his fucking research. Your back arches as he stretches you open from the inside out, his strokes returning to full intensity and making your already-sensitive cunt quiver. Tears sting at the corners of your eyes from the overwhelming pleasure.
“Oh god, Joon, yes.”
Your thighs start to shake as he slams into you, so deep that you know you’ll feel it tomorrow. “So fucking tight,” he grunts hoarsely. “Gonna milk it out of me, baby? Gonna take all of it?”
Too far gone to even speak, the only answer you can manage is your walls starting to pulse around his cock.
“Ah, shit,” you hear Namjoon hiss, clearly as surprised by your impending orgasm as you are. “That’s it. Come on my cock while I breed you.” He can only get one last sloppy thrust in before he’s coming again, too.
The sensation of his second release, of two loads of his seed threatening to spill out of your cunt, held in only by gravity and his length still plugged up inside you, just makes you come that much harder. It feels like you’re coming for hours, every muscle in your body pulled tight as you buck and writhe and whimper.
As the wave subsides, the sensation that finally brings you back to reality is the gentle caress of your boyfriend’s hands and mouth over your thighs.
“Oh my fucking god,” you finally manage, your voice still unsteady.
“Tell me about it,” Namjoon says, looking equally shell-shocked. He dips his head to kiss you, your feet brushing against the strong muscles of his arms. You feel your pulse start to settle down as he sucks gently on your bottom lip, then finally breaks away.
“I’m scared to pull out,” he admits with a soft laugh, dimples on full display.
You wince a little through your smile. “We might need to change the sheets.”
“Definitely worth it.” He pauses for a moment, and you bring a hand to cup his face, stroking your thumb tenderly over his cheek. “Love you,” he murmurs, leaning into your touch.
There’s a pause, and you know what’s coming just from the mildly terrified look that appears in his eyes. “You’re still gonna take your pill tonight, right?”
The post-orgasm high keeps you from getting too annoyed with him, and you’re laughing when you reply, “Yes, Joon. Like I said, it was just role play.”
“Thank fucking god.”

Tumblr media
The end of a semester is usually your favourite time of the year for obvious reasons: academic freedom, one year closer to your degree, and summer vacation. Summer rings in new fun, new travels, new people.
Perhaps, a new love.
Summer time also meant more time to see Nam Joon. As your friendgroup tends to be more clingy with the hot atmosphere, something about the idea of this summer with Nam Joon makes you feel weird. It doesn’t excite or repulse you.. Instead, it makes you feel confused.
It’s inevitable that your mind is clouded with petty thoughts and sadness. After all that has happened; you’re so burnt out from studying alone and sinking into the bitter feeling of needing to prove people wrong.
The truth is; you’re not that dumb.
You’re merely average.. Putting in the work simply isn’t your forte.
What you hate is when people make you feel stupid.
Nam Joon, regardless of the many insults, has never made you feel stupid until the day you knocked on his door in the pouring rain. When you had asked him if he had feelings for you and he looked at you like you couldn’t possibly know—it hurt.
Did he think you were that stupid? Stupid enough that you couldn’t comprehend the difference between lies and truth? The difference between feelings and lust? The lines are thin… But not invisible.
Invisible is what you felt.
Nam Joon sure had a talent for making you feel a million little things. From sex to the actual friendship—he has always had a way with you… And just like that, as you exit your lecture building with your exam mark in your hands—you see him.
He stands there, leaning against a campus pole, arms crossed with his a little smile to greet you with. Nam Joon raises his hand and waves at you. He does his best to look nonchalant as he fights the urge to run to you.
Oh, if only he could run to you.
It’s like his breath is taken from him the moment your eyes meet his. He wants to take your hand and be with you so bad.. To be with you as if nothing happened and he could erase every dumb thing he ever said and did to you.
But he doesn’t.
Instead, he lets the moment sink and ache. In response to his presence, you roll your eyes at him. Then, you let out a sigh, turn the other cheek, and begin to walk to the opposite direction. It’s then when Nam Joon realizes that you’ve figured it out.
The truth is; he has always been the dumb one between you two.
Tumblr media
“Are you gonna follow me inside too or are we done?”
Your harsh tone catches Nam Joon off guard. He lifts his head from looking at his feet. The entire way here, he has been watching his feet follow yours. He looked like a lost puppy, trying to keep it’s distance but also so desperate to be loved and taken.
He didn’t mean to come off like a creep. This entire walk has been so painful and slow. Yet, he found comfort in just being within your reach. Even if you didn’t need him or didn’t even turn your head back once to check on him—he’d still follow you to wherever.
To the end of the earth.
To where your heart had wandered off to.
To wherever you go; he would follow.
Nam Joon has always loved that about you. The way your certainty leaked and inspired him to be the same regardless of the logistics of the decisions. Your love to live life is contagious. He never truly feels like he’s living if he’s not with you. He needs you.
As he wraps up his train of thoughts, Nam Joon clears his throat to answer.
You beat him to it.
“Go home, Nam Joon. Have a good summer. I’ll see you around,” you dismiss him. As you turn away, he catches your wrist and holds you still.
“I called you.”
You stiffen, surprised he’s even talking right now. He has never been the type to touch you in public. It was exactly in his character to follow you around and not say a thing… But this? You stare at his hands wrapped around your wrist. When was the last time you two touched? Before you get dizzy from your own thoughts, you defend yourself: “I was taking the exam. Can’t use my phone—”
“I called you last night. Seven times. I left voice messages and even texted you after you told me to fuck off. I asked around for your professors morning routine so I could stall him because I was afraid you’d be late to the exam or needed at least a fifteen minute review with your classmates. I stalled him for twenty-three minutes. I stood outside, in this fucking heat, waiting for you to come out and... I don’t know? Look at me? Talk to me? You walked away. You told me to fuck off. Now, you’re telling me to go home and that you’ll see me around?” Nam Joon’s voice hitches at the end. “I don’t want to just see you around. I want more than that.”
You look at him, eyebrows furrowed together. “Get lost.”
“You’re doing it again.”
“Get lost.”
He shakes his head.
“Where you go, I go.”
You glare at him.
Fine, two can play this game.
“And if I go to Hobi? You owe me a boyfriend, by the way.”
Nam Joon lets go of your wrist. Slightly hurt, he asks: “you still like him?”
“Who else am I supposed to like?”
“Me.”
In this moment, you see something in him that you’ve never seen before.
Honesty.
Before you can say anything, your phone chimes with a notification. Quickly, you take your phone out and check.
EXAM RESULTS: Available
“My grade came in,” you breathe. “Fuck. Why did they mark it so fast?”
“Wasn’t it just scantron, dummy?” he teases, peaking his head over to see your phone. You tilt your phone towards you and side eye him. What if you failed? That’d be such an embarrassing grade for him to witness you receive!
Hell fucking no.
“Okay, okay... Check your grade, beautiful.”
Instantly, you look at him in shock. His cheeks flush in pink but he doesn’t take what he called you back. He meant it. Nam Joon offers a shy smile and looks into the distances, trying to downplay your reaction.
As you sign in to check your results, he continues to be the smartass that he is. “Wanna know a secret? When I took this class last sem, I got a 89.2% on the final. It was kind of hard.. Like, I remember actually being stumped on the questions. If you have to retake the class; I promise I’ll be by your side. It’s a hard class! I know at least two other people that had to retake it—what? Did you pass?”
You stare at him blankly.
A part of you tries to process his comforting promise while the other part of you gets lost his eyes. They look so desperate and sparkly—almost like they’re in love.
Could they be?
… Focus.
You check your grade. It reads:
EXAM RESULTS: Available
93.6% PASS.
“___? Are you okay? Was the exam that bad?” he begins to panic. Without thinking twice, he pulls you close to take a peak. You shut your phone screen off and shake your head at him.
“Come on, ___! What did you get?”
You shrug at him, staying emotionless. Your feelings are beginning to overwhelm you, but you need to stabilize them for the sake of whatever is going on between you and him.
You stay silent. Eyes soft, almost watering from the relief you feel. Fuck, you worked so hard. You feel so accomplished.
On the other hand, Nam Joon feels like he’s been kicked in the stomach. He feels so much guilt. Did you fail because of him? He doesn’t know what to say or to do. It’s a good thing Hobi advised him not to bring flowers... Instead, Nam Joon brought his entire heart. Even if he doesn’t say it, he knows it’s yours and that, my friends, is way better than flowers.
“Tell me or I’ll kiss you—”
“I didn’t do that well,” you pout, crossing your arms. You decide to commit to your lie purely because of the way his expression softened.
He’s cute.
“What now? You going to call me stupid? You going to fuck around with my feelings again and—”
Nam Joon crashes his lips onto yours. Without much thought, you sink into it and feel butterflies as he wraps his arms around your waist. When he pulls away, he fixes your hair and cups your cheeks.
“You did well, ___.”
Pouting, you push him off of you. Somehow, he takes a hold of your hand and stands there innocently. You tilt your head at him completely confused.
“What does this mean?”
“You’re smart,” Nam Joon teases, dipping his head low and pressing a kiss on your cheek. “Figure it out.”

Here are my thoughts on each contestant so far (spoilers up to ep. 9). These are just my impressions of their roles in the limited context of the show, not as actual people.
- Lee Si-Won: The mad scientist! My favorite, though not necessarily my favorite to win. Sharp, strong-willed but loyal, and most of all, persistent. She and Seok-jin have incredible synergy. If the competition comes down to the two of them, though, I feel like she wouldn't have the heart to beat him...
- Ha Seok-jin: ...while he would have no such qualms. Crafty, independent, and observant, a real genius when it comes to scheming to an almost scary extent. He's definitely most at home in a "villain" role where he doesn't have to protect anyone. He and Si-Won give me the vibes of a natural talent and a hard worker teaming up instead of fighting over their differences.
- Seungkwan: Actually pretty interesting. Whether he intended to or not, he's the only one who has managed to strike a balance between being a threatening contestant and an exploitable one. He leans more towards the latter, but not to the extent that people are targeting him. In fact, everyone likes him a lot. That's an idol for you.
- Guillaume: Just smart in general. It was especially sly of him to play dumb throughout the first game. Seemed like an all-rounder. It wasn't his or really anyone's fault he got eliminated. His team just had to decide on a strategy early on that they weren't able to change later.
- Kim Dong-Jae: Very similar to Seok-jin. Schemers, the two of them. The main difference is that while Seok-jin is fine with keeping a tight circle or even flying solo, Dong-jae wanted to build trust with others. His fatal mistake during Secret Number was not committing to either closing ranks or cutting off contact with Seok-jin and Si-Woo. I'm very interested in what the writing test for this show was like, for him to be one of the two to get a perfect score.
- Lee Hye-sung: She didn't get to do much. I like that she trusted Dong-jae, but she was too trusting. I think she should've stood her ground and compared numbers with Yu-min first, then leveraged that information to ensure Dong-jae's loyalty. That might have helped Yu-min feel secure enough to not betray them later.
- Seo Yu-min: Way too dependent on others, though she seems to have taken the results of Secret Number to heart. She has the right idea about taking advantage of other people's sympathy for her, but the helpless act only works in the long term if it's just an act and not, you know, real. Also, Seungkwan has already filled the niche she wants. She should make more use of her greatest asset: Joon-bin, who clearly still feels guilty about Secret Number.
- Park Kyeong-rim: She's so sweet. If I had to choose, she's the one I'd want to meet in real life the most. But in the show, she's way too much of an open book and bleeding heart. I like that she's more cautious of Yu-min after Laying Grass, though that just means she'll divert more of her attention to helping Seungkwan.
- Kwak Joon-bin: He's funny because he talks a big game about wanting to turn traitor and cause chaos, but he's a huge softie who refuses to exploit weaker contestants. I don't think he's crafty enough to take down stronger opponents either. He's proven himself as an active participant in the games, which is really all it takes to not be marked as exploitable even if your most of his ideas go unused. But people don't trust him because of his big ol' mouth.
- Seo Dong-joo: Also smart in general, bold. The Si-won to Orbit's Seok-jin, kind of. She's more of Orbit's second-in-command than his partner, though that's only because Orbit is that much of a force of nature while she's content to play a supporting role. She's pretty loyal to Orbit, but she doesn't care that much about the others and only helps them because he does. Even then, she's been having doubts about him since Zoo. I think she could go head to head with Orbit if it comes down to the two of them.
- Orbit: Love him or hate him (looking at you, Si-won), he's incredibly influential. He's so much of a leader that it's kind of stifling. Extremely smart in a technical way, the best at coming up with group strategies based on actual game theory. This complements his "protect the weak" ideology, though that has been breaking down. He can't save everyone, even at the expense of the other team. I think he first realized that after Zoo and then truly accepted it during Laying Grass.
- Cho Yeon-woo: She was too passive, exploitable. But while Seungkwan is loveable and Yu-min is pitiable, she never found an approach that would make someone hesitate about targeting her. I wish she got the chance to show her strengths, but Seok-jin's robbery was frankly a brilliant move so I'm not that mad. I think she should've cozied up to Si-won more, especially by telling her about the safe. Seok-jin would've disapproved but Si-won would've stood up for her.

When They Call You During Run BTS Filming ~ BTS Reaction
Jin:
As you picked up the phone, you heard Jin tell everyone to be quiet. “Y/N, what’s your favourite song of ours?” Jin asked you, without even saying hello.
“I quite like Boy with Luv,” you replied to Jin, hearing plenty of commotion in the background, “why are you asking me that so suddenly, what’s going on?”
Jin stepped aside so that he could talk to you quietly, “for the episode, we have to guess people’s favourite things.”
“I’m sure that there are plenty of other songs of yours that your fans like though,” you quickly told Jin, not wanting him to use your answer to represent everyone.
The boys had already gone for it though, “Boy with Luv is a popular song, we’re going to trust you and pick that as the fan’s favourite too.”
“Don’t do that because you’ll blame me if you guys lose.”
“We’re trusting in you Y/N,” Jin laughed in reply.
A groan came from you, “keep me on the phone until you find out the answer, so I know whether to run or not.”
“Yeah, you might not be welcome at the dorm tonight.”
Tumblr media
Yoongi:
You quickly paused your programme as you noticed your phone ringing. “Y/N, tell Jungkook to go and pick on someone else?” Yoongi yelled down the phone.
“What are you on about?” You laughed, with no idea what was going on as you heard Jungkook ‘s laughter in the background as Yoongi told him to go away.
He was pushed and pulled in two different directions as he tried to talk to you, “can you tell Jungkook to get another member?”
“Why?” You asked him, wanting to know what it was that you were supposed to be doing. “If you’re playing a game, then isn’t Jungkook doing what he’s supposed to be doing?”
A groan came from Yoongi as you failed to do what he asked. “Y/N, you’re supposed to be on my side, help me get Jungkook to bugger off.”
“Who’s he going to go after if he can’t go after you in the game?”
“I don’t care who he gets,” Yoongi cried out to you.
A chuckle escaped from you as you heard how desperate he was. “Sorry, but I think you might have to fight this one yourself.”
“I can’t believe that you’ve let me down like this.”
Tumblr media
Hoseok:
Your heart stopped when you looked down at your phone and noticed Hobi’s name on the screen. “Y/N?” A voice called out, not recognising it as Hobi’s.
“Hello?” You quizzed, taking a moment to work out that the voice that you actually heard was Namjoon’s, wondering why you hadn’t heard Hobi’s voice.
A sigh came from Namjoon before speaking to you, “I don’t suppose you’re able to get yourself to the hospital, are you?”
“W-why?” You nervously quizzed, fearing the worst as you remembered what it was that the boys were filming, knowing just how physical the episode was.
Namjoon knew that you knew too before saying a word. “There’s been a bit of an incident, Hobi might have had a bit too much confidence.”
“What’s he done Joon? Or would I rather just not know for now?”
“It’s easier to show you Y/N,” he told you in response.
Your head nodded, grabbing your coat. “I’ll drive to the hospital now; I can be there in about half an hour I reckon.”
“I’ll meet you outside to show you where.”
Tumblr media
Namjoon:
You didn’t know what was going on as you answered Namjoon’s call, hearing plenty of noise down the line. “Y/N, can you hear me?” Namjoon shouted to you.
“I can hear you,” you yelled back to him, “what on earth are you doing? I thought that you were filming for run?” You asked him, recalling Namjoon’s schedule.
A laugh came from him in reply to your question, “we are, but there’s a couple of things that we left at the dorm.”
“Let me guess, you want me to go to the dorm and bring them to you?” You asked, reading Namjoon like a book, knowing exactly what he wanted from you.
Another laugh came from him, “I wouldn’t ask if we weren’t desperate, but I promise that I’ll make it up to you for helping us out to get this done.”
“I can get to the dorm in twenty minutes if you tell me what I need.”
“I’ll send a text with a list on it,” Namjoon replied.
Your eyes widened slightly, “a list? How much have you left at the dorm? Did you not check before you left the dorm?”
“You know what we’re like, just a tad forgetful.”
Tumblr media
Jimin:
As soon as you saw Jimin’s name pop up on your phone, you were worried, quickly accepting his call. “I’m exhausted,” was all that he said to you answered him.
“Is that all that you rang me for?” You asked him, shaking your head as you sat yourself down on the sofa, “why are you ringing me during the middle of filming run?”
Jimin could hear the panic that was in your voice, “I just thought I’d call and see how you are, what’s wrong with you?”
“I thought something bad had happened, you never ring me during filming,” you scolded him, taking several deep breaths to calm yourself back down.
A soft sigh came from Jimin as he listened to you. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to worry you, I only rang because I’m tired and I want to hear your voice.”
“It’s fine, it’s my fault for probably assuming the worst straight away.”
“It’s nice that you worry about me though,” Jimin smiled.
Your eyes rolled at how excited he sounded, “of course, I worry about you, especially when I’ve seen some episodes of run too.”
“This one’s easy, even we can’t mess it up.”
Tumblr media
Taehyung:
A sigh of relief came from Taehyung as you picked up his call, speaking straight away. “Y/N, we’re relying on you to get the answer right so that we can win a snack?”
“Answer right for what?” You quizzed, with no idea what was happening as you heard the boys in the background, their voices all muffling together as they all spoke.
Taehyung quickly shushed them before speaking again, “do you have any idea what the capital of Samoa is Y/N?”
“Isn’t it Apia?” You asked Taehyung, not even having to think as the boys all cheered on the end of the phone in reply to the answer that you gave.
Taehyung didn’t respond as he watched the production team, as their heads quickly nodded. “Y/N, thank you! I knew that you wouldn’t let us down.”
“I hope you plan on sharing some of those snacks with me for helping.”
“I’ll bring some home with me,” Taehyung promised you.
A chuckle came from you as the boys all thanked you. “I’m glad I could help, but you guys all owe me a favour at some point now.”
“We’ll help you out whenever you need us.”
Tumblr media
Jungkook:
Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion as you glanced down to see Jungkook calling you, quickly picking up his call. “Y/N, guess what, I got to come home early?”
“Did you win again?” You laughed, hearing in the background of the call that Jungkook was already on the road. “Shall I start getting ready to go out to dinner in that case?”
The smile on Jungkook’s face quickly turned up, “I reckon that I’ll be home within about half an hour at this rate Y/N.”
“Wow, you really did finish early,” you smirked, shaking your head as you realised that Jungkook was over two hours early to leave the set.
He couldn’t help but laugh knowing that the boys were still on set. “You should have seen their faces when PD told me that I was able to go home.”
“I can imagine that none of them were probably impressed with you.”
“I think they might have hated me,” Jungkook chuckled.
Your eyes rolled at how delighted he sounded on the other end of the line, “you’ll be in trouble when you see them at the dorm.”
“I’m the winner, I don’t care what they do.”

Out of the Woods - @angelicyoongie
Promising Jihyo that you were going to stay away from your writing for one weekend had been easy in theory, but much harder to actually do once you reached the little cabin the woods. To make matters worse, the only thing that rivals your inability to keep promises is your terrible luck – and after a particularly bad choice leads you to get lost in the mountains, you suppose that it’s only karma that you end up face to face with a wolf that looks ready to rip your throat out.
Black Silk - @bangtanfancamp
Mafia Arranged Marriage AU with whipped Joon and cute shy Reader.

Forever Rain - @ddaenggtan
Being dead isn’t anything exciting. Just a lot of walking the same halls of the same apartment day after day after day. Things change when the new tenant arrives, though. Kim Namjoon isn’t anything you could have expected; not the way he’s so careful and gentle with his plants because he breaks so many other things, not the way his friends joke that he’s psychic because you refuse to let him get in the face one time, and certainly not the way he comes home after literal months spent moving things away from table edges for him and announces that he knows he’s being haunted and he has some questions for you.
Begin Again - @jamaisjoons
It’s been three months since Namjoon broke up with you, so what happens when you’re at a mutual friend’s wedding and he wants you back?

Four years and it all came to this. (Absolute fluff, read if you want a pick-me-up)
Come back Home - ^^
Even as a fight ensues, all Namjoon wants is for you to come back home.
Silence - @monochromaticinsignias
Being a famous idol in the country of Korea has pros and cons, and he used to think that there were more of the good ones than those of the latter. Having a loving girl by his side made him all the more happy in spite of the struggles around each and every corner. He can’t be lucky enough. But this time, it looks like as if it’s the other way around.
Edge of Tonight - @park-jimin-isnt-real
A part of him died that night. A larger part died when they couldn’t find you, and over the years whatever was left of him grew cold and hard. It was that ice inside him that got their gang to the top, that gave them power, and money, and all the things a normal mafioso would be more than satisfied with. But none of it meant anything to Namjoon. All Namjoon wanted was you back in his arms. That was the underlying motive in everything he did. For the past ten years, Namjoon built himself an empire, just so he could find the reason his heart beat.

PARK SEO JOON BREAKS THE INTERNET - AGAIN.
Actor commented on Y/N Y/L/N’s photo and made everyone go crazy for a couple of hours
That Park Seo Joon is up and about giving us all a heart attack with his beautiful smile and amazing soul is the understatement of the year. The 30-year-old handsome actor is known to take everyone’s breath away with his wholehearted performances. In any drama or movie, you can bet. I mean, who hasn’t thought about him ever since She was Pretty? He made sure to stay constantly in our minds - and hearts.
Park Seo Joon is known for being openly active on social media, with his fun posts and stories on Instagram. However, fans had something to freak out about last weekend, as Sunday the actor liked and commented on a recent photo of model Y/N Y/L/N, to the despair of the fangirls.
Hundred of thousands of replies have been recorded and when asked about it, Park laughed it off. “She really is gorgeous. I’m not going to deny that.” (See video below)
Of course, there was nothing from the 26-year-old model, but there are theories going on about it on the internet, theories that have left this journalist open-mouthed. But would Y/N be having anything with the actor or is it just a long shot in the dark?
There hasn’t been anything about the two of them meeting in real life and while Park Seo Joon is always out and about, the same can’t be said about the model, who likes to keep her privacy and is often seen with another hot-shot, the singer Jeong Jaehyun, although neither of them has confirmed any kind of relationship between them and both say they’re only friends.
Whether or not this was just Park being a normal guy and complimenting a girl, we can’t stop thinking about how cute of a couple those two would make! We even managed to manip our new favorite ship! (See below)
~*~
Y/N stared at the screen of her phone for a few more moments before cracking up. She couldn’t believe her life had led her to this moment, one she would be featured in teenager magazines and shipped with an actor she had never met. Of course, she knew who he was, she had watched his movies and dramas and she had to admit that he was all that everyone was saying. But had she met him? No, of course not.
Her notifications on Instagram had been blowing up for the past 48 hours, making the girl mute the app and ignore all kinds of messages she had been receiving. It was a good idea, no drama, no fans throwing insults at her (something that would happen, she was sure of it), no fans asking things she couldn’t answer, no gossip magazines mentioning her on Twitter… Nothing. It was just Y/N, the bed she had been on, Netflix, and some good company. That is until she got a call from her best friend begging her to read that article.
Hana had been in her life for as long as she could remember, her best friend ever since they were little girls playing in the sandbox. They might have taken completely different paths in life, but they were always by each other’s side whenever it was needed.
Y/N was willing to read the article because it was Hana who wrote it. She would trust her best friend with everything in her life, even gossips the media wanted to spread.
The fact that Hana had been chosen to write something about her life was completely amusing. Sometimes, Y/N wondered if her best friend had told her boss they were best friends and that was why, but the truth is that Y/N knew, for a fact, that Hana had kept her mouth closed when it came to being friends with someone as famous as Y/N and it could only be the most ridiculous coincidence in the world. No one had ever suspected anything.
With a small smile, Y/N closed the e-mail her friend had sent her and shook her head. As always, Hana had written something so close to the truth without saying anything that she couldn’t believe the way her friend had with words. She had no other way than to say it was perfect and she wouldn’t change a thing.
From: Y/N
To: Hana
You know, one of these days they’ll get suspicious as to how you know so much about my life.
From: Hana
To: Y/N
I’ll just tell them I stan you. I’m an obsessive fangirl. But how is it?
From: Y/N
To: Hana
You know it’s perfect. Now stop freaking out, cause I know you are!
From: Hana
To: Y/N
This could very well be my ship!
From: Y/N
To: Hana
You are aware that I have never met him, right?
From: Hana
To: Y/N
Oh, sweetie… God works in mysterious ways.
Y/N couldn’t believe what she was reading. There were times she worried about Hana living for far too long in her teenage years with all the young celebrities she had to be in touch with for her job - and for her own pleasure too. Of course, you never know what the future holds, but there was no way Y/N would ever be with Park Seo Joon. She was perfectly fine the way she was, with who she was. Even if she didn’t have anyone, exactly, at the time.
Her life was great the way it was and adding drama to it, as the comments had made sure to confirm her worries, was nothing but a waste of time.
Hana sent her just a thumb up as a reply, something Y/N knew that meant she had posted the article and Y/N couldn’t wait to see what else would be said about her after that.
With a devious smile on her face, the girl opened her Instagram for the first time that week and clicked on her most recent photo, the comment Seo Joon had left being the first one. And then she clicked on the heart next to it without a second thought.
Instantly, her phone blew up with at least five messages from her best friend.
From: Hana
To: Y/N
You bitch!
I can’t believe you just did that
I’m gonna fucking kill you, Y/L/N
Couldn’t you have done it before I posted it?
I hate you so much!
From: Y/N
To: Hana
I just gave you another story to write. You should love me!
From: Hana
To: Y/N
🖕
The laugh that erupted from Y/N was loud and genuine. She loved messing with her best friend to the point of making her professional life a living hell sometimes.
“What’s so funny?” a raspy voice called her out, her laughter slowly dying out as she stared ahead, the once empty room now giving sight to something she quite enjoyed.
There was a reason Y/N liked to keep her life private; There was a reason she found no trouble at all in setting all her apps on mute and that reason was standing right in front of her. His wet jet-black hair dripping into the floor and slowly tracing down his handsome face, leading down past his shoulders, glistening in the fluorescent light against his chest, one she had so many times run her hands over. The marks of her nails still painting in a soft red on the pale skin, dying down on the white towel poorly secured around his waist.
Y/N followed all of it in complete silence, her eyes never daring to move from the man standing in the doorway of the bathroom, his dark brown eyes focused on her shallow breaths, the way her chest seemed to rise and fall in the bra she was wearing, the only piece of clothing her upper body was sporting.
Her eyes had turned into a darker shade, something he could see from where he was, something he enjoyed a little too much. Her long legs, hidden under the white thick duvet, squirmed under his intense stare, her insides churning in excitement as she watched his hungry eyes roam all over her.
Jaehyun had known Y/N for a good three years. They had been introduced in a party Johnny had thrown and hit it off immediately. At the time, both of them had completely different lives, both of them dated and there was nothing more than genuine friendship. They were both easy people to talk to, had pretty much the same interests. And even though they had super busy schedules, it was always easy to talk through messages and phone calls.
It all started to change, though, when both of their relationships went down the drain and what once was an innocent friendship saw there the chance to change into something else.
There was no name to what they had, they hadn’t talked about it. A whole year had gone without it being fully addressed, but it wasn’t just a friends with benefits thing and they both knew it.
It was something else, something, as much as they liked to deny, with deeper feelings involved. It wasn’t easy to simply hide it from everyone. They had to be cautious, they couldn’t let people out of their friends' circle get suspicious, they couldn’t let anyone notice how much they meant to each other.
It was easier that way, less dramatic, and more personal. Something they would only share with people they were comfortable with. And yet they weren’t anything official.
There was something dreadful in being in a committed relationship when they had started whatever they had. The ghosts of their pasts still lingering over them, so it was only natural to take things as they came, to move around it and see where it was going to lead them. But maybe neither of them had thought it would last this long without coming to a real thing.
They had grown used to how they worked and thought that there was nothing to be talked about.
“It’s just Hana,” she shrugged it off, her brain finally snapping out of her thoughts.
There was something she would never be able to do when standing anywhere near that man, and it was stop fantasizing about him. He was like her own kind of Greek god, the personification of a sacred deity thrown into this Earth to be of her delight. There could be a thousand lifetimes and there weren’t going to be one of them that she didn’t find him handsome, no matter what. He just caused that kind of feelings in her.
“Oh,” he muttered, his body leaning off the wood, his soft steps echoing through the floor as he made his way to the girl. “I thought we were supposed to pretend we were stranded in a deserted island,” he smirked, his eyes ravishing over her exposed chest, taking every inch of her skin in, his tongue darting out of his mouth to run over his smooth lips.
“You were taking a little too long on that shower,” Y/N murmured, her eyes wide open as she watched the man walking up to her, her hands twitching in excitement to run over his torso and add a few more scratch marks to it.
The hunger in his eyes was like fuel to her, burning too bright and hot that she felt it in her core, his breath fanning over her face, now too close to her and yet too far. He was towering over the girl, his body hovering hers, not touching an inch of it, much to her dismay.
“I had to keep myself entertained,” she breathed out, her lips brushing against his in a feeble attempt of toying with him, baiting him in her mercy; he didn’t buy it. Jaehyun knew her way too well.
“I’m sure you could have thought of better ways to do it,” he mumbled, his hand slowly tracing the curve of her neck, intertwining in her hair softly, caressing her while still running his tongue over his lips, watching as she tried to keep her eyes on his, but failing to unfocus from his mouth. “I’m sure you could’ve just…” he started once again, his hand now retreating from the hair and sliding down her arms, softly and slowly, the touch leaving goosebumps in its wake as his breath fanned down on her, her eyes now shut in anticipation. “You could’ve just joined me.”
Jaehyun left no time for a reply, it was never his intention.
Without a single second to spare, his lips crashed down on hers, roughly and hungry, their breaths mingling and panting, the only sound in the bedroom aside from the occasional smacks of their lips.
Jaehyun’s hands couldn’t find a home, traveling from her arms to her waist, pulling her closer to him, feeling her chest flush against his, her warmth spreading through him as a safety blanket, her legs freeing from the confines of the duvet before closing around him at the same time his hands reached her back, his fingers carefully running down her spine. The touch was so gentle she couldn’t help but moan at the feeling it caused, her back arching off the bed and into him, her mouth opening in the shape of an O.
Jaehyun took it as his advantage, sliding his tongue into her mouth in a wet kiss, exploring every corner of her mouth, massaging her own tongue before fighting for dominance over the kiss, which she surrendered to him.
Y/N kissed him in abandonment as if leaving her whole life to him, giving him everything she had, everything she would ever have.
She clutched to his neck fiercer, fingers slipping into his hair and pulling at the roots with wanton, desperately trying to draw a moan out of him, with success.
He could never get enough of that woman and she knew exactly what to do to get him going, but if he was to ever make it to their appointment, he would have to put an end to it and soon. Jaehyun could feel himself coming up with excuses to his friends as to why he didn’t show up to their party already.
Gasping out for air, Jaehyun broke their connection, his nose running along her cheeks to her shoulders, leaving open-mouthed kisses on her collarbone, his mind reminding him of not leaving any visible mark on her skin before, finally, sucking in the skin on her chest, right above her breast, a small gasp coming out of her throat, her eyes still closed as she bit her lips together in pleasure.
“You should get ready,” Jaehyun murmured against her skin, his lips still taunting her endlessly.
“Can’t we just… Skip it?” Her voice sounded so broken for having to leave at that exact moment. She just wanted to spend the rest of the evening lying on that bed at his mercy. The real world could suck sometimes.
“Again?” Jaehyun chuckled, his face now in front of hers. “Didn’t we just skip your friend’s party yesterday?”
“And look at how much more fun we had,” she bargained, her brown eyes dark in want as she stared at him.
Jeong Jaehyun had the power of making her turn into putty by only being in the room and he knew it.
The singer smiled down at the girl, pressed a lingering kiss to her lips and pulled away before she could get too carried away.
“Go get ready, beautiful,” he laughed walking away.
“Tease!”
~*~
Contrary to his belief, they actually left home and just in time to miss the rush hour, something both of them were glad. Although it was a fairly quick ride from Seocho-gu to Itaewon, you never know how much time you would lose stuck in trafic.
It was one thing when you didn’t have much to do, but when you had a party, even if a small gathering, the anxiety of being in the same place for too long would be too much.
Y/N sat in the passenger seat, enjoying the view of the city flashing past them as the car headed towards the center of the city, a low song playing on the radio, keeping the atmosphere in the vehicle serene and light. Golden specks of light entered through the windshield, the last rays of sunshine of the day illuminating their skin in a golden tone, Jaehyun’s eyes hidden by his black ray-ban focusing on the road ahead.
She took the time to admire it all, the way his hands held the steering-wheel expertly, sliding across it every now and then, the same hands she loved running around her body, the same hands she loved to just hold and have it clasped around hers.
The sunlight kissed his skin almost adoringly, highlighting his cheekbones and adding a new color to the speck of tones she had seen his face turn into. Y/N knew that if Jaehyun were to take off his glasses at that moment, his eyes wouldn’t be the same dark brown color they always were; they would have turned into a melted chocolate-color, like someone had melted the delicacy and poured into his irises. It was mesmerizing and breathtaking, worth of losing herself into them. And she had, so many times it was beyond her comprehension, but she didn’t mind one bit.
Y/N reached her hands over the handbrake, her palm turned up in an obvious sign of telling Jaehyun something. His right hand let go of the steering-wheel, intertwining on hers without a second thought, his face turning to her side with a smile plastered on his lips, the devotion his eyes held hidden by the dark shades he had on.
It was at times like these that the singer felt like he had everything he could have asked for. Everything felt right, even if it didn’t seem like it.
There was something about the way their hands seemed to fit effortlessly, how they always had been thinking the same thing before speaking it, how they seemed to be in the exact same place when it came to their lives.
It was uncanny that they should be together. Everyone had said so, from his friends to his family, always bugging him about it, saying that he had to properly ask her to be his girlfriend. A girl like that wasn’t easy to find, that’s what his dad said whenever they visited.
But it wasn’t so simple. They had been ‘together’ for so long that he just couldn’t see the right way or the right time to do it. They had fallen into a pattern that their relationship was real and official, even if unspoken, even if hidden from the world.  Saying something just felt like doubting everything they had ever had.
“Have I ever told you how much I like it when you bring me to meet your friends?” Her voice disrupted his track of thought, bringing him back into reality and to the car.
His hand was still wrapped around hers as he drove down the road, the sun barely visible in the horizon. She had perked up in her seat, something Y/N always seemed to do when she wanted to share some kind of secret. It was endearing watching her whole self light up at the idea of telling someone something she deemed intimate.
“You do?” His eyes went back to hers, watching the excitement take over her features, her eyes brightening as she looked back at him in innocence, her head tilted to the side as if she couldn’t believe he was asking her that.
“Of course I do!” She hooted. “What’s not to like? They are all always so welcoming and fun to be around. They bring some other side of you too, I guess. You seem more relaxed, more natural and... More you. Something I only get to see when you’re not on the spotlight.” Y/N proposed, her fingers snapping up as she listed everything she had said. “Not to mention the fact that they’re super funny and make everything feel safe. It makes me feel like everything is so normal.”
Jaehyun smiled. He understood everything she was saying and couldn’t help but agree. It seemed like they were in a safe environment every time they were with them, the world could fall apart and yet they would remain one.
It seemed strange that a group of people could hold such importance to them, but it made sense to him. With his friends, it was a few of the moments that he could be himself, without any pressure. It was like going home every time he needed to go back.
The fact that Y/N felt the same way meant something to him. He didn’t know what yet, but it had something to do with the fact that his chest would feel warm sharing with her all the memories he had made and were to make with them.
It didn’t mind what it was or how silly it seemed to anyone else. She would listen to him intently and appreciate the fact that he felt like he could share it with her, could trust on her with bits of him that weren’t on full display. And she loved it. She loved listening to him talking, she loved picturing his younger version doing all the things coming out of his mouth. Maybe that was why she loved those counted getaways with him and his group of friends.

_________________________________________________
“Alright everyone in!” The bell buzzed around the huge jail house as all of the criminals went back inside their cells. Namjoon shut the steel door, locking the locks and turned to the other police officers. Aka his friends. “The visits?” “Seems to me everyone’s doing good! You know Mr Kim made a great decision putting you up as head chief” Namjoon smiled at Jungkook’s compliment, ruffling his hair. “Jimin?” Jungkook’s smile faded, making Namjoon and Hoseok laugh at the attitude change. “We still..have some work” “imagine your own boyfriend? Your own boyfriend getting out in handcuffs without you knowing” “UNTIL THE DAY AFTER! Had his own cell and everything..I don’t know what to do”
Namjoon sighed, sitting in the chair in front of the 2 who were leaning against the table. “I’ll talk to Mr Kim, but tomorrow you have to Jimin and let him know that just because we are all best friends doesn’t mean he doesn’t have to pay for his consequences” Jungkook nodded, running his hand through his hair. “Yoongi?” “He’s doing good..impatient ass” “not gonna lie yall look cute togetherrr” Jungkook teased, poking Hoseok’s arm. “Shut up, he’s let me know that he has an interest already” Jungkook and Namjoon looked at him.
“And you don’t?” “I do! It’s just- he’s a handful” “Jimin is too and look where we are 3 years strong” Jungkook said, fist bumping Joon. “Ok well - that’s you and Jimin what about me!? Do you know how DIFFICULT Yoongi is?” “It gives you a nice challenge! Yoongi is one feisty cat - anyone could tell you. But Hobi he’s got eyes on you to handle him. And trust me..we all know how that would turn out” Jungkook smirked, nodding with Namjoon.
Hoseok sighed, sitting on the table now. “8 pm, his last check up for the day. Make that check up, count” Namjoon said, handing the ring full of keys to Hoseok. He sighed, taking it and clipping it on his belt. “Fine..and for the record, Yoongi is a different breed. Don’t be shocked when I don’t come out alive” Jungkook scoffed, patting his back before leaving the two to go into Namjoon’s office. Hoseok and Namjoon followed him.
8 pm…
Hoseok went out his office, sighing and he saw Namjoon. “I got you” he gave me the ID pass and fist bumped me before opening the metal gates and went down the long line of jail cells. He reached the back, pressing the pass to the black button which turned green and heard the door unlock. He opened the metal door, seeing a sight he was least imagined to see. “Mmh fuck” Hoseok gulped, staring at the submissive boy, seeing his head squished in the pillow and his ass perked up in the air.
His fingers inside his ass and moaning his heart out. He’s lucky he has the cell all the way in the back. I closed the door, seeing his head turned towards me, seeing the smile and his lower lip tugged between his teeth. “Mmh daddy” he called out, giggling as I sighed in horniness and disturbance. “Yoongi..get up” “whyy? I want you..you don’t understand” I sighed, crossing my arms as I looked at him.
He groaned, sitting up. “Put your shorts on” “I will..if you come to me” “Yoongi, cmon now” “please? Stop playing hard to get it!” “I’m doing my job that’s what I’m doing” Yoongi huffed, leaning on his arms. “Pleaseee, come here!” Hoseok sighed, before taking his time going up to the boy, seeing him spread his legs once he got closer. “Yoongi we’re suppose to be doing our check up close your legs” “daddy..” he whined, wrapping his legs around my waist. “Yoongi-please don’t, stop” “I know you want me, stop resisting. I’ve been trying to get you ever since I laid eyes on you, I know you want me”
Hoseok did want him..and he isn’t making it easier for him. “Yoon..” I overthought my thought, looking at the clock. It was already 8:30. I know everyone’s asleep. What makes it better..no one can hear what happens in each cell. Hoseok looked at Yoongi, seeing him smirk and pull him closer by the legs. “Fuck me officer, please” Yoongi whispered, pulling Hoseok down by the suit and smashed his lips on his, moaning uncontrollably as he wrapped his arms around Hobi’s neck.
Hoseok thought about it before kissing back slowly, his hands slowly placing themselves on his waist. Yoongi squirmed at the contact, moaning at the touch before Hoseok broke it almost immediately. “No..no no no - no this cannot happen” “yes it can, it’s almost 9. Everyone’s pretty much asleep..besides, I’ve seen the way you look at me during lunch time, and I know you want me” Hoseok raised an eyebrow, trying to deny the fact that he does have a staring problem. “That doesn’t change anything” “oh yes it does. And look - my hair grew..grew it out just for you. And I dyed it black as well, Joon let me..you like it?”
Hoseok liked it. A lot.
“Black suits you” “guess were twins huh? Hm..I like this hair as well. Long and..curly and..fucking sexy” Yoongi seduced, whispering the last part, as he pulled me closer to him. “It just turns me on even more don’t you think?” “Yoongi” “stop…you know what to call me instead” Yoongi interrupted, smirking. “I know what turns you on..daddy” Hoseok let out a small but quiet hiss, knowing it does turn him on. “No-“ “daddy..I wanna get fucked by you, please?” He moaned whispery in my ear, bitting the earlobe. Hoseok was on the verge of giving up.
“Babe..” “please! Please I have a boner! I’ll come a lot for you, like - a lot a lot I promise. I promise daddy” Hoseok’s nose flared at the name, feeling his dick beginning to risen. “..you’re gonna be a good boy?” “I will, I will daddy” “you sure?” “Yes, yes I’m a good boy for you always” hoseok pinned him down before kissing Yoongi roughly, giving up completely from resisting. Yoongi moaned his heart out, throwing his arms around his neck as he deepened the kiss.
“Mmh fuck, pants - pants off, please” i ripped the shorts he had in half, teasingly taking down the thong he had underneath and his lower half was exposed to me. “Awh that little boner of yours, so pretty” Yoongi hips bucked out of reflex at the tone of his voice. Hoseok smoothed his index finger around the outside of his clenching and unclenching hole. “Well, don’t need lube” Hoseok teased, chuckling as he entered 3 fingers in him, making Yoongi moan softly, throwing his head back on the pillow. “Fuck, Mmh Daddy” “yea like that? You like that shit hm?” Hoseok unexpectedly scissored him, going fast and rough before taking his fingers out.
“Oooh shit, no - why?!” “You want it? Come get it” Yoongi immediately went on all fours, and pulling down the oversized cargo pants with the boxers and grabbed the cock in his hand. Yoongi wasted no time taking the whole thing down pack, moaning around it making Hoseok’s breathing rapid, rolling his hips. “Ooh yea you like that shit huh? You fucking bitch hm?” Yoongi moaned at the dirty words, stroking himself in a rough pace as he sucked Hoseok’s cock with passion.
“Fuck, ok” Yoongi took it out, breathing heavy as he turned around and bent over in front of him, rolling his ass on the hard cock. “Can I put it in? Please?” Hoseok chuckled, slapping his cock on his asscheeks before sitting back. “Put it in” Yoongi wasted no time once again, putting the cock inside him making him moan and whine at the stretch of his insides. It’s been so long since Hoseok gave into Yoongi, and it takes a lot for him to give into him. That’s why Yoongi is attracted to Hoseok so much.
It’s thrill to him.
“Mmh fuck” “fuck me fuck me fuck me daddy please please please” Hoseok grabbed his hips and fucked him deep inside, hearing Yoongi scream and moan as Hoseok fucked him like his last day on earth. “Ooh there you go. That ass going back on that dick huh? Your greedy tonight” Yoongi whined and moaned, gripping the sheets from below him at the fifth words. “Daddy fuck - I’m close already, I’m not joking - I think I’m gonna come. Daddy” “oh you’re ready to come? Come for me baby, come for daddy baby you can do it. Come on that dick” Yoongi moaned louder and came on the sheets, coating Hoseok’s cock at the same time.
“Good boy, there you go” “more, daddy more” “i know i know” Hoseok turned Yoongi over, running his fingers against the hard cock if his, hearing him moan and hum at the pleasure as he played with the tip. “Fuck, it feels so good” “ooh yea?” Hoseok began to stroke it, seeing Yoongi squirm as heat rushed up his body. “Fuck fuck fuck - daddy!” Hoseok took his hand away, inserting his cock again making Yoongi moan loudly. “Think you can come again?” “Always” Yoongi’s answer motivated Hoseok’s horniness specifically and snapped his hips to fuck him harder.
“Im coming…im coming - im gonna come again” “go ahead Angel” Yoongi whined at the nickname as it turned him on even more, and came all over himself. And coating Hobi’s cock once again. “There you go, fuck” Hoseok continued to fuck him, feeling the similar feeling at the pit of his stomach. “Shit” Yoongi knew Hoseok drew bruises all over his thighs and hips from gripping to hard. But he loved it. He loved it when Hoseok got rough with him, especially when he’s close to his high. Like at this moment.
“Fucking hell - oh my god” hoseok slapped the living life out of Yoongi’s thigh making him whimper and moan at the extra pleasure he was receiving. Yoongi got what he wanted, and he was here for every moment of it. “I’m gonna come - fuck im gonna come” Hoseok’s pace quickened by the second before painting Yoongi’s ass white, filling him up. “Shit, daddy” “ooh you like that? You like that little slut?” Yoongi whined, feeling Hoseok’s hand tighten around his neck as he continued to come.
He was finished, pulling out as he smirked down at the panting Yoongi. “That was..that was good, shit” “oh..you’re funny” Hoseok flipped them, Hoseok on the bottom and Yoongi on top of him. He scooted to the edge of the bed and Hoseok smirked at the big mirror in front of them. “Look at me” Hoseok demanded calmly, seeing Yoongi’s eyes look into his. “This is what you wanted. Remember? ‘I want you to make me come over, and over, and over again. Fuck me until the morning sunrise’. Remember that?” Yoongi bit his lip, knowing he was eavesdropping on him while fucking himself.
“Oh? Speechless? I wonder” “stop..your making me feel embarrassed” Hoseok chuckled, sitting up. “I’ll do whatever I want, what will you do?” Hoseok whispered in his ear, smirking as he kissed softly on his neck, and earlobe. “So what are you waiting for..the only way to get what you want is by working for it” Yoongi gulped, stroking Hoseok’s cock slowly making Hoseok hiss, leaning back on his elbows as he felt his hand go faster. “Ooh there you go, shit” Yoongi stood up, putting it inside.
“Mmh shit, fuck” “Don’t be a pussy now, this is what you wanted. Now ride that dick like you mean it” Yoongi loved this side of Hoseok, taking control over him excited his insides even more. Yoongi rolled his hips, moaning loudly all over again as he felt the dick fill every inch in him. “There you go, go faster for me” Yoongi followed orders, rocking faster with a little bounce in his pace. “Fuck” Hoseok thrusted upward, making Yoongi moan louder with whines here and there as Hoseok went full on rough mode.
“Fucking bitch” Hoseok grabbed his hair, pulling it as he fucked him harder. “Fuck, daddy..so fast” “shut up” Hoseok’s hips lost control, fucking him more roughly as his high caught up to him. “Daddy I’m gonna come..I’m gonna come again - fuck” “look in that mirror, and see yourself come all over yourself hm? Wanna be a slut I’ll treat you like one. Go ahead” Yoongi’s moans turned into ‘pleases’ and whines as he looked into Hoseok’s hooded eyes, smirking face which got him even closer. “Fuuuckk daddy!” Yoongi came all over himself, Hoseok holding him to support his body that was going numb from the intense orgasm he was having at the moment.
“Ooh Good boy, look at that, coating my cock like that? That slick going all over look at you” Yoongi whimpered, his hips rolling and squirming as his dick started to get sensitive. “Forgot someone?” Yoongi smirked, taking his time to take Hoseok’s hard cock out before turning around and landing his lips on his. Yoongi kissed his jawline, neck, all the way down to his cock, kissing the tip of it. He then took the whole thing down in one go, which made Hoseok go crazy. “Ooh I’m coming, I’m coming - stay still” Hoseok’s hand kept Yoongi’s head to the base of his cock, rolling his hips he groaned and moaned until come shot into Yoongi’s mouth.
Yoongi chuckled, looking up at Hoseok as he happily swallowed it all and slowly took it out his mouth, seeing it soften. Yoongi sighed smiling as he kissed Hoseok softly, Hoseok returning the gesture as Yoongi climbed on top of him. Yoongi broke the kiss, smiling as he nuzzled their noses together. “So..what now?” Hoseok smiled softly, massaging Yoongi’s waist gently. “What do you want to happen?” Hoseok asked softly, kissing his lips gently. “..I want you” Hoseok smiled, looking at the clock above Yoongi.
11 pm.
“I want you too…go to sleep. And I’ll be back after my break” Yoongi smiled, nodding and Hoseok stood up with Yoongi in his arms, laying him down and tucked him under the covers..and the new comforter that Hoseok bought him. “Good night Angel” Hoseok whispered, kissing his forehead before getting his clothes on, carrying his vest in his arm and tidied up in his cell before leaving it. He locked the door with his key and took a deep breath, smiling to himself as he walked along the hallway of cells filled with sleeping prisoners.
There he saw Namjoon, smiling as the two 94 liners chuckled with each other. “What are you thinking?” Hoseok handed Joon his vest, crossing his glossy, buffed arms as he thought. And a small smile soon came on his face.
“..i think he’s learned his lesson”

Alchemy of Completed 2022 Kdramas - Part 1
Tumblr media
Last year I watched a bunch of kdramas, too many for me to properly review at the rate I write about them. As a result, I'm gonna try something different and quickly review those dramas that released in 2022 that I watched, and maybe recommend a few alternatives here and there in those cases where the show didn't live up to the task. Considering it's been a while since I watched some of these dramas, I binged a couple of them again to better inform my commentary. If you're short on time, or just want to add kdramas to your ever-increasing watchlist, you'll find a ⭐ next to the titles I wholeheartedly recommend, and a 💀 next to those I feel should best be avoided, but you do you. If you still haven't watched some of these shows, this list will hopefully give you some idea of whether you'll enjoy watching them (or not).
A brief note on my rating system before we begin. I use bins for my 1-10 scale in the following way:
Anything between 5 and 6 is considered average
Shows between 7 and 8 are considered above average
Shows in the 9 to 10 range are the cream of the crop
Anything between 1 to 4 is considered below average, with the 1-2 range reserved for the worst offenders.
Thus, I have two possible scores for the average, above average, and cream of the crop categories, what I believe makes my life a little easier when rating shows. I have occasionally given half point ratings (e.g. 7.5) to certain shows when I feel they're halfway to a better grade, but that has been the exception rather than the rule.
So without further ado, welcome to my Alchemy of Completed 2022 Kdramas - Part 1!
A Business Proposal⭐
Tumblr media
Episode count: 12
Where to watch: Netflix
Rating: 8/10
Verdict: "You know I'm good at a lot of different things, right?"
We start with one of my favourites and the best short romcom of 2022. Based on the manhwa of the same name by Haehwa (original story) and NARAK (art), Taemu Kang (Ahn Hyeo Seop) plays the 'perfect CEO' stereotype who ain't got no time for love so, after several hilarious events, he eventually hires Hari Shin (Kim Se Jeong) to play the part of his girlfriend to fool grandpa. Unbeknownst to him though, Hari is his employee. Will their fake relationship turn into a real one? You bet your ass!
The show ticks almost all of the required tropes, subverts some -what was a pleasant surprise- and entertains throughout, making perfect use of its runtime. The second lead couple, played by Kim Min Gue and Seol In Ah, also turned several heads, not to mention the latter had great BFF chemistry with Kim Se Jeong. Week after week, I was looking forward to every episode of this show, especially considering how disappointing another romcom that aired around the same time turned out to be, and that you may or may not find in this list. You could say this show aired just in time for Samantha and Rachel to cure my FLAWless disappointment.
Again My Life⭐
Tumblr media
Episode count: 16
Where to watch: Viki
Rating: 8/10
Verdict: Lawful Lawyer is back!
The better Lawless Lawyer of 2022. Kim Hee Woo (Lee Joon Gi) is a prosecutor who travels back in time to put the people who murdered him behind bars while the audience wonders which female lead he should date. And between Kim Ji Eun, Hong Bi Ra, and Veronica Park Kim Jae Kyung, well, he's definitely not lacking in choices. Fortunately, time travel is merely used as a trigger to tell the story (similar to 365: Repeat the Year in this respect), so we don't have to worry about kdramas' rather abysmal track record with sci-fi. The show keeps you hooked episode after episode, finding a good balance between the scheming, putting people behind bars, throwing some punches (has those trademark LJG action sequences!), all the while going after the next big fish. Last, but not least, it does an incredibly good job at managing an ensemble cast of characters, and there are a lot of them! If you're a fan of Lawless Lawyer or Lee Joon Gi, you can't go wrong with this one.
Alchemy of Souls - Part 1
Tumblr media
Episode count: 20
Where to watch: Netflix
Rating: 6/10
Verdict: Watch a fantasy cdrama instead
Alternatives: Fights Break Sphere, Fighter of the Destiny
When I watched the character promos for this show I thought this could be Korea's answer to some of China's fantasy dramas, possibly Xuanhuan dramas, and I was all for it! I liked the male actor, Lee Jae Wook, in other dramas I'd watched with him (he was great in When the Weather is Fine and Search: WWW), and Jung So Min playing a master assassin and mentor in a fantasy drama was quite appealing. Of course, I was a bit worried when the teaser dropped, with its emphasis on some weak comedy, but I decided to give the show the benefit of the doubt. Sadly, Part 1 didn't live up to the task. It meandered a lot, definitely under-using its 20-episode order, focusing on every romantic relationship under the sun and then some, ultimately delivering an unsatisfactory hero's journey for the ML, while the antagonists played ping-pong with the alchemy of souls. At times, I was reminded of Hwarang, a show I have reviewed very poorly and that seems to have relied on the idol factor to garner popular appeal.
I've previously compared Jang Uk's journey to that of Xiao Yan from the cdrama Fights Break Sphere, in that I expected the former, from the previews, to undergo a similar rise to power as the latter, rigorously training under his master, slowly climbing his way back to power, but with the additional appeal of developing that romantic relationship between Jung So Min's character and Lee Jae Wook's, what would've made for a more rewarding journey for both the character and the audience. This is a tried-and-true formula, also used by the popular anime The Rising of the Shield Hero, to mention but one other example. Unfortunately for us, Jang Uk can hardly be bothered to train (supposedly, he "trained" with twelve masters for years and didn't learn a damn), except at the very specific, and limited, times that the script dictates, instead relying on luck and plot contrivances to "skip ahead" his way to power, what makes for far less memorable scenes. Additionally, the cdrama nails the master-student relationship thanks to the great rapport between Baron Chen's Yao Chen and Leo Wu's Xiao Yan, but there's hardly such a bond between Mu Deok and Jang Uk.
In the end, Part 1 of Alchemy of Souls should've been about Jang Uk's rise to power under the guidance of his master, and later love interest, Mu Deok, but it's too unfocused, its attention constantly diverted by comedy, love polygons, or caricaturesque villains doing dumb things under everyone's noses. Perhaps its only saving grace was the character of the Crown Prince, brilliantly played by Shin Seung Ho, who was able to nail both the comedy and the drama when called for. However, if you're looking for a good fantasy drama with a more traditional (or any) hero's journey, watch Fights Break Sphere instead, with the caveat only the first season has been released, and it's doubtful there'll be a second. I'd also recommend Fighter of the Destiny, with Lu Han. It probably doesn't have as good CGI or sets, but it has a better grip on the hero's journey than Alchemy and nails the camaraderie aspects.
Alchemy of Souls - Part 2
Tumblr media
Episode count: 10
Where to watch: Netflix
Rating: 7/10
Verdict: Works better as a standalone watch
I should've probably left Part 2 of the show for Part 2 of my list, but I'm going in alphabetical order so that's that. This is one of the shows I decided to rewatch to refresh my memory and, to my surprise, it fared much better the second time around. Why's that? Read on to find out!
Part 2 of Alchemy of Souls starts strong, much stronger than Part 1 did, something many were doubting when the news hit that Jung So Min wouldn't return for Part 2, instead being replaced by the original Naksu actress, Go Youn Jung. Fortunately, she does an excellent job throughout, but especially in the beginning of Part 2, which comes across as more of a fairy tale (Rapunzel's), and where the show decides to embrace some of the typical marriage contact tropes, as Young Jung's character fake-marries the now uber-powerful Jang Uk in order to escape from her mother's tight grasp. Honestly, I wish the show had started with Part 2, in media res, and used the material from Part 1 for flashback storytelling, in a similar vein to how The Untamed did it. God, that would've been so good! Precisely because Jang Uk has become sort of a demigod he can boss around all of the useless supporting characters from Part 1 (I'm looking at you, Pathetic Assembly of Evil), and pretty much do whatever he wants, so it's quite commendable to see him return smarter and more measured in his decision-making.
As someone who watched Part 2 live back then, it started to lose its initial glimmer when an inevitable reveal kept being delayed episode after episode, hinting that it would obviously occur the next one. Of course, this never happened, but what made matters worse was the fact that the ML was kept oblivious while everyone around him found out and chose not to tell him because... reasons? I can understand one person keeping the secret for his own agenda, maybe a couple, but I find it astonishing that even Jang Uk's friends and family shared this same agenda, as they also kept the truth from him. Additionally, the more this delay continued the further the narrative possibilities were constrained and, thusly, certain scenarios conjured up by fans never came to pass. However, this will not be much of an issue for people coming in blind to Part 2 (or with a healthy distance from Part 1). Perhaps even the fact that the noble idiocy card is played, or that the main antagonist is obstinately preserved by the writers until the very last episode to little effect (when he shouldn't have made it past Part 1), won't present much of an issue to newcomers.
Having said this, I still feel the final battle for the fate of the world remains rather underwhelming and anticlimactic, not helped by the fact that certain characters are resurrected right before said battle. After all, if the show outright establishes death is not permanent, minutes before "the end of the world," why should I fear for any of the characters? Even Jang Uk himself, during this final battle, doesn't show an ounce of worry that maybe this time he will not make it out alive, regardless of his powers, making the fight seem entirely mechanical and perfunctory. The writers even throw in some half-baked plot device about the King's Star being powered by seven other stars, and since it had never been explained throughout the show a character has to exposition-dump it on our laps (there's quite a lot of exposition dump going around in Part 2, what helps newcomers to the show). It's a plot device prominently featured in the cdrama Fighter of the Destiny, which I previously recommended, so maybe it was inspired by it?
In the end, if you still want to get a taste of the Alchemy experience, I wholeheartedly suggest you treat Part 2 as the original show, with Part 1 being the prequel made to cash in on the show's success that, ultimately, you may not even need. Thus, as a standalone, I'm revising my original rating for Part 2 from a 6/10 to a 7/10, bumping it into my above average bin.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo
Tumblr media
Episode count: 16
Where to watch: Netflix
Rating: 6/10
Verdict: Better luck in S2
Alternatives: Good Doctor, Again My Life
Woo to the Young to the Woo started off with a bang and had me sold after binging its first four episodes (I had a bit of an offset), making me hopeful this could be one of my favourites from 2022. Sadly, it was thereabouts that the quality of the writing slowly started going downhill for me. Woo lost me on two fronts: the weak framing and execution of the legal cases, and the underdeveloped cast of supporting characters, who were mostly neglected in favour of Park Eun Bin's Young Woo. Don't get me wrong, Park Eun Bin nailed the character, and her conversation with her mom in Episode 8 was particularly poignant and well executed, but it wouldn't have hurt to give characters like Min Woo or Jun-ho a case that resonated with them, like "The Strife of the Three Brothers," which was relevant to Young Woo's BFF Geu Ra-mi.
I'll take Min Woo as an example because, out of the whole cast of supporting characters, he showed the most promise. The show mentions in passing that Min Woo is his family's sole breadwinner, what could explain why he's so competitive and regards Young Woo as a threat rather than a boon, but the show never tries to explore this when it has the perfect medium to do so in the form of the legal cases. So why not give him a case that echoes some of his struggles trying to support his family while making headway into the competitive legal world, thus allowing us and his teammates to get to know him a little better? In essence, show us, don't just tell us. How am I then supposed to buy his sudden change-of-heart in "The Blue Night of Jeju" when you've given me nothing to support the fact he's bonded with anyone in the team? (besides Jun-ho who was already his flatmate) Perhaps not surprisingly, this particular episode throws a bunch of arcs left and right for the supporting characters to try and grab hold of, but too little too late.
As a procedural, I feel Extraordinary Attorney Woo is pretty average. It either didn't know how or never intended to handle its supporting cast of characters and successfully integrate them into the narrative, similarly to how a show like Again My Life did. To draw a curious parallel, the final episode of Again My Life gathers all of "the good guys" at the restaurant of Hee Woo's parents. There are 14 of them in total, not counting Hee Woo and his parents, and I feel like they've truly become one big extended family by show's end. Extraordinary Attorney Woo has a similar scene, gathering everyone at Min Shik's place that is meant to convey the same feeling, but they don't quite feel like a team yet, let alone a family. Maybe in Season 2?
If you're looking for a show featuring another savant autistic lead, but with a better grasp on developing an ensemble cast of characters, as well as a romantic relationship between the leads, then Good Doctor is the show for you. On the other hand, if you're looking for a kickass lawyer, well, you probably already know who I'm talking about.
Fanletter, Please⭐
Tumblr media
Episode count: 4
Where to watch: Viki
Rating: 8/10
Verdict: A lot of heart in a small package
The first among three shows in these lists that feature Choi Soo Young and Yoon Park as either main or supporting leads. I'd only previously watched Choi Soo Young in So I Married an Anti-Fan, a show not without its share of issues, but her as the female lead wasn't one. Indeed, she was one of the highlights and I was looking forward to seeing more of her work. As such, I was looking forward to this mini-series, more so when I realised Yoon Park would play the role of a father willing to move heaven and earth for his daughter, what is not a typical setup in kdramas (in my watching experience, mind you). Off the top of my head, I can only think of Marriage Contract and Lie After Lie as similar shows, in terms of how much of a protagonist the child actor is. Both are shows I would wholeheartedly recommend.
As for Fanletter, Please, I was positively pleased by how much content and social commentary this show was able to fit into its 4-hour runtime without harming the storytelling, something that even full-length kdramas struggle to achieve. Having said that, I would've welcomed one or two more episodes to let it breathe a little bit more and, of course, to watch some cute family moments! This is definitely a case of so good you want more of it. Still, Choi Soo Young and Yoon Park make it work within the available runtime, what's a credit to them and the script. CSY was on a roll last year (as you'll find out in Part 2!) so I'll have to keep an eye out for more of her dramas, and it was very welcome to see Yoon Park play this devoted father character after the disappointing Forecasting Love & Weather (though he was pretty good in it). Give me more short dramas!
Forecasting Love and Weather
Tumblr media
Episode count: 16
Where to watch: Viki, Netflix
Rating: 6/10
Verdict: Couldn't forecast love and I have my doubts about the weather
Alternatives: She Would Never Know, The Rational Life
I have a soft spot for Park Min Young, having watched romcoms like What's Wrong With Secretary Kim? and Her Private Life, or even melodramas like When the Weather is Fine. And who can forget Healer, where she played the part of Lois Lane to Ji Chang Wook's Clark Kent (watch it, it's a classic). I couldn't remember a drama with her that I didn't enjoy watching, so it broke my heart a little to see what a disappointing mess Forecasting Love and Weather turned out to be. I should've heeded a friend's advice to steer clear of Song Kang dramas, even though the script was clearly the worse offender by far.
The show hooked us in with the initial romcom elements, and then decided to veer into slife/melo territory, as the relationships between the different couples started to fray, with conflict being driven at an accelerated pace by the issues that arose from poor communication, or an outright absence of it, and how the different couples handled (they often didn't) the results of their miscommunication. I didn't much mind at the time because I felt they were being somewhat mature about it without overplaying their hand, and because my weekly romcom fix was being delivered by A Business Proposal, but they were treading a fine line... that got utterly ground into dust in the last six episodes. At this point in the show, the nonsensical drama was amped considerably, to the point it could've given Young Lady & Gentleman a run for their money, setting us up for the inevitable breakup. Why? Because the kdrama gods have written that a breakup must inevitably occur in Episode 14 or thereabouts, and this show is not about to subvert that trope!
Like Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Forecasting Love and Weather failed at properly handling its ensemble cast of characters, trying to juggle five relationships to some very mixed results, when it would've been better off simply focusing on the main and secondary couples. As a result, by show's end I could've cared less what happened to the main couple, and was actually a bit more invested in the secondary one, played by Yoon Park and Yura, possibly because they at least tried to talk to each other and work things out. Honestly, Yoon Park's Ki Jun got the better deal out of all the characters in the show. How do you make Ki Jun, the guy who cheated on his fiancée with Si Woo's girlfriend, a more likable, or at least interesting, character than everyone else? You have him grow from an immature baby into a more or less responsible adult. You could argue that the main leads experience growth of their own, but it struck me as a bit aimless, a bit hollow. I mean, 16 episodes for Ha Kyung's boss to tell her you learn more from your mistakes than you do your successes? Seriously? Just go to r/GetMotivated for that.
Would I recommend this show? Unless you want to learn a little about what goes on behind the scenes of a weather forecast, not really, but maybe it's my fault for having high expectations due to PMY. It's not a bad show though, just average. If you want far better executed takes on this concept, check She Would Never Know on the kdrama side, and The Rational Life on the cdrama side.
Glitch💀
Tumblr media
Episode count: 10
Where to watch: Netflix
Rating: 3/10
Verdict: Watching an episode of Ancient Aliens on the History Channel would've been more exciting and a lot shorter too
Alternatives: Circle
Can I get away simply by saying watching this show was a glitch? No? Dammit. I should've known better than to watch a Netflix-produced kdrama, even if it does star Nana, 'cause they've all been a bust for me, but Glitch was one of the privileged few shows I watched in 2022 that made me feel I had utterly wasted my time, with no redeeming qualities about it. 500 minutes to tell a story that lacks focus and is all over the place, perhaps stretched thin to meet a Netflix episode quota, with a FL that is not particularly interesting to follow, as she goes through a midlife crisis and teams up with Nana to investigate a UFO cult that may or may not have kidnapped her ex to sell his kidneys. Okay, maybe I made up that last bit about the kidneys.
The comedy doesn't land, the mystery doesn't land, the drama doesn't land, and the UFO doesn't land either. Undoubtedly, the finale is the better episode of the show, not least of why because it marked the ending, but also because the show didn't have any more time to dawdle as it had been doing for the past nine episodes, what gave it some much needed focus. To make matters worse, the surprises and twists at the end of each episode just weren't good enough to keep you hooked, nor, I'm afraid, were the leads. I was tempted at the time to give this show my first ever 1/10 for the way it wasted my time over the span of those 500 minutes, with a story that was infuriatingly inconsistent and lacked a lot of common sense, but it's probably not that bad. Still, I would only recommend watching it to my enemies, probably alongside something like Sisyphus.
Good Job
Tumblr media
Episode count: 12
Where to watch: Viki
Rating: 7/10
Verdict: Good fun
Alternatives: Secret Royal Inspector
Another ENA network show, like Extraordinary Attorney Woo, but shorter and more entertaining, as we follow the crazy antics of Eun Soon Woo (Jung Il Woo), a chaebol CEO who doubles as a private detective (think Bruce Wayne/Batman), and Don Se Ra (Kwon Yu Ri), his newly-recruited superpowered assistant, as they aim to solve a 20-year-old cold case while uncovering other, smaller, cases, helping people and rectifying injustices along the way.
Good Job is just a fun ride overall, even if the comedy can be a little hit-or-miss sometimes, especially when it drags on for too long or tries the Marvel route of undermining certain scenes. The writing too could've benefited from another revision, as some events feel gratuitously delayed, like when a character refuses to reveal a certain name only to do so a few minutes later, while others are forced to a head, like Se Ra discovering Soon Woo's batcave. Oh, yeah, he has a batcave, of sorts, and even an Alfred, in the form of Lee Joon Hyuk's Director Hong, whom you may recall from Mystic Pop-Up Bar. He also has a talented sidekick and comedic support, Jin Mo (Eum Moon Suk), both a lawyer and a hacker, who also gets into a romantic entanglement of his own with Se Ra's best friend, Na Hee (Song Sang Eun). This is the mini-Justice League you'll see play dress-up (these scenes are so over-the-top fun!) from episode to episode, as they go undercover to solve cases and get one step closer to their goal. In this sense, this show could be compared to something like Taxi Driver, but, unlike the latter, Good Job doesn't take itself too seriously and neither should you for maximum enjoyment.
While the resolution of the final case felt a bit underwhelming, and perhaps a tad perfunctory (I did appreciate the brief redemption arc for one of the antagonists though), Good Job achieves in 12 episodes what Extraordinary Attorney Woo could not in 16, making its cast of characters grow into a team, one I would not mind accompanying in more adventures in future seasons. Will that happen? Probably not, so if you're looking for more fun adventures of the sort, and don't mind traveling to the past, I would not hesitate to recommend Secret Royal Inspector, with Kim Myung Soo and Kwon Na Ra.
Grid💀
Tumblr media
Episode count: 10
Where to watch: Disney+
Rating: 4/10
Verdict: Another nail in the kdrama sci-fi coffin
Alternatives: 365: Repeat the Year, Reset, Circle
Sci-fi is one of my favourite genres, but kdramas have had a rather lousy track record at delivering good quality sci-fi and, sadly, Grid does nothing to change that. Our story starts in 1997, when a mysterious time traveler known as "the Ghost" laves a program for an energy grid to replace Earth's failing magnetic fields. This Grid is now managed by the Administration Bureau who intend to track down the Ghost and unlock the secrets of time travel... eventually. The show's comprised of only ten episodes, yet the pacing of the first half is slower than it has any right to be given the events depicted (hint: they aren't that exciting) and the dialogue isn't stimulating enough to sustain such a slow burner. This "season" could've been compressed into 5 or 6 episodes and it would've been stronger for it. Of course, then it would hardly qualify as a "season" (though Netflix seems to think it does).
The main plot line focuses around this serial killer and the fact that the Ghost is helping him evade capture. Why is this time traveler aiding and abetting a criminal? Honestly, this question was never interesting enough to fuel ten weeks of watching (the pain!) and it shows. Additionally, it is not answered conclusively, although there are some bread crumbs for the viewer to put the pieces together. In fact, this statement captures the show in a nutshell; it raises questions, but never provides any conclusive or satisfying answers, playing on the viewer's knowledge of other (better) time travel stories so they can come up with their own. Perhaps the worst example of this is the season finale, which is only meant to set up events for a possible S2 (in your dreams, or nightmares), thereby raising even more questions.
The writer behind this, Lee Soon Yeon, is apparently quite good, having written for Stranger and Stranger 2. I haven't watched either show so I can't comment on them, but time travel stories aren't for everyone. Having said that, the "mysteries" that are supposed to keep viewers hooked were also underwhelming. I remember reading an article that recommended Grid as a show that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I suppose it's possible to fall off your seat while asleep, right? If you want a show that uses time travel well, though in very limited fashion, merely as a trigger for the plot to unfold, watch 365: Repeat the Year. The cdrama Reset is a great exponent of using a time loop and one of my favourites from 2022. If you want kdrama's best exponent of sci-fi to date, watch Circle (review on the way).
If You Wish Upon Me⭐
Tumblr media
Episode count: 16
Where to watch: Viki
Rating: 8/10
Verdict: The genie from Aladdin would be proud
First things first, there is a better version of this show if you take out the gangster storyline, which was entirely superfluous, and better integrate the sister storyline into the main plot. You can also drop the jealous doctor who added surprisingly little beyond being jealous at the required times (what a waste of a perfectly good character). Repackage it all into a shorter, 12-episode, season and this show could've reached 9-10 territory for me. Those are pretty much the weakest aspects of the show.
With that out of the way, it's a very good show. People have compared it to Chocolate given that it takes place in a hospice ward but, for my part, I dropped that show after 5 or 6 episodes, partly because of the ML. No such problem with Ji Chang Wook's character here, an orphan and ex-con with a heart of gold, and a cute dog he's named "Son." Despite all the abuse he's been subjected to throughout his life, he slowly starts to open up as he does community service at the hospice. Paired with Choi Soo Young's flirty Nurse Seo (love her!), these two alone make a powerful case for watching this show. Sung Dong Il also delivers a great performance and has some wonderful exchanges with Ji Chang Wook's character.
The show follows the "case of the week" formula for the most part, certainly during the first half of the drama, as Team Genie tries to fulfill the final wishes of the hospice's patients and often positively impact other people's lives in so doing. Be prepared and have tissues at hand. Beyond the gangster detour that wasted our time towards the end, and drew dangerously close to upending all the good will the show had garnered throughout its run, the final episode really brings it home, coming full circle and delivering a really satisfying conclusion to our story, one final surprise as Team Genie brings down the curtain on their show and bids us goodbye.
In short, yes, it could've been better with a tighter focus but, as it stands, it's one of the better shows to have come out in 2022, and perhaps Ji Chang Wook's best work since Healer (with the caveat that I have not yet watched Suspicious Partner nor Lovestruck in the City). And Choi Soo Young is now 2 for 2! (this girl's on 🔥🔥)
Jinxed at First💀
Tumblr media
Episode count: 16
Where to watch: Viki
Rating: 4/10
Verdict: Oh, it's jinxed alright
Alternatives: My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, Goblin, Scripting Your Destiny
I had measured expectations for this drama. Na In Woo had previously worked with the same director in 2021's River Where the Moon Rises, a show I enjoyed a great deal, though mostly because it was the first time I delved deep into the history behind the drama, namely the tale of Princess Pyeonggang and On Dal the Fool, and the history of the Three Kingdoms' period. He was brought in late, with production underway, to replace Ji Soo; he barely slept, had to adlib a lot of his scenes, and still managed to have great chemistry with Kim So Hyun and, to my mind, had the better grasp on the character of On Dal. I'd hoped Jinxed at First would give him another opportunity to shine, but, alas, that was not the case.
The first episode alone is a hectic storytelling mess (and, incidentally, River Where the Moon Rises alumni reunion), rushing through a lot of backstory and setup for the rest of the season. We're introduced to Soo Gwang, a bright student with a promising future and powerful friends, whose life takes a turn for the worse when he meets Seul Bi (Seo Hyun), a woman imprisoned since birth by his best friend's dad because of her strange ability to see a person's future through a single touch. Cut to a year later, where we find Soo Gwang working as a fishmonger under a different name, only for Seul Bi to track him down again, determined to remain by his side.
Honestly, I'm not sure what genre this show wanted to be, but I'm pretty sure it failed at most of them. For the first 6 or 7 episodes it tried to resemble something like My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, as Seul Bi is just as innocent and naïve as Miho was (even if Miho sold it better than Seul Bi did, to my mind), and both male leads were resolved to get rid of her. This is perhaps the strongest portion of the show, as Seul Bi adapts to her new environment and neighbors, making new friends while at the same time helping Soo Gwang get rid of his (never explained) bad luck. I even enjoyed some of the comedy. However, unlike My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, there is not enough chemistry between the leads to have them fall in love with each other over the course of 6 or 7 episodes. Well, not in Soo Gwang's case at any rate, as Seul Bi has been infatuated with him for years. Upon falling in love, the trope that naturally follows is a break-up, after which point the show starts to resemble more of a makjang, turning to corporate and chaebol intrigue and infighting. This is also around the time Soo Gwang's best friend, Min Joon (played by Ki Do Hoon, from Scripting Your Destiny), decides he's in love with Seul Bi (what?), something even more out of left field, especially when he's already engaged to Lee Ho Jung's (Soljiwan!!!) charming character, Ja Kyung, who effortlessly stole every scene she was in. Min Joon, if you don't want her, I'll gladly take her off your hands!
Seemingly having exhausted the depth of its narrative well, the show dragged its feet for several episodes, eventually deciding the story was better served by turning a character into a psychopath, who also wanted Seul Bi for himself and was willing to kill anyone in the process, an eye-rolling set of circumstances eventually resolved thanks to Seul Bi's expansive (aka nonsensical) repertoire of supernatural powers. And, of course, in a show of this caliber, the amnesia trope could not be absent, a card that is dealt in the very last episode and resolved at the very last minute. What a payoff.
When I first learned of this drama I recall reading an outline that went something along the lines of, "Unlucky man meets a goddess of luck." Would it have been too much to ask for a show fitting that description, but in the vein of the excellent Goblin instead? Or maybe something like Scripting Your Destiny, which is certainly not as good as Goblin, but is still way better than this, and much shorter too. If you want to watch a show that features a romantic relationship between a god and a human, I encourage you to give those a try instead, as well as the aforementioned My Girlfriend is a Gumiho.

Rewatching W: Two Worlds
Ep 12. I forgot how good this episode was. Well, they are all good but this one I really enjoyed - the first time and this time. This episode is PACKED.
I love how the ring was the one physical thing that connects them from the first story. It's how she bumps into him, it's how he remembers her and now it's what he gabs when they are first back to the real world.
She apologizes, but he only smiles because he knows how hard she tried to keep. Just like how he knows why she is worried when he asks to see her father. But he's learned from the comic and will not make the same choice. Even disregarding that, like I said before the reveal is completely different this time so it's not quite as shocking or traumatizing.
It's heartbreaking when she asks him not to go. It's even more heartbreaking when she asks if he remembers and has to tell her no. He's doing just what he thinks the comic Cheol would feel (which I don't think is 100% the truth). Since she hadn't changed, he's going to see what her fatal charm is.
Here's the thing. I'm pretty sure Cheol was 95% decided about Yeon Joo. He was already drawn to her and she's saved him. Even though he calls him the other Cheol, and doesn't fully get why he was in such a state to shoot Sung Moo, he has to recognize the himself in the comic book Cheol. Since he recognizes himself, he would have to trust the comic version's feelings but he still needs to see it in person to confirm.
Small shout out to Soo Bong. The poor man is forever in a state of terror and panic but he is also always comes through for Yeon Joo and Cheol.
Even though he's calmer, it still distresses Cheol to see all the W files and research. You can see him take a moment to pull himself together.
We get the confrontation between Cheol and real culprit. I had forgotten he had fully awakened first AND that Sung Moo promised to make him the main character. I'm not entirely convinced the reason for Cheol's hand disappearing makes complete sense but that is minor. Interesting that real culprit says he just has to wait for him to disappear, but his whole purpose was to kill and torment Cheol. Not sure he realizes that means he could disappear once Cheol is gone.
I love, love how Cheol asks to go on date with Yeon Joo. He wants to know her better and like I said, confirm that last 5%. I forgot how cheeky and flirty he was when he asked to see her naked like in the comic. However, he was truly touched when he saw the comic moments of them in her room. Again, it shows how he was always real to her.
He's willing to go slow. They did everything backwards, which he gets why, but now he wants to be a normal couple. I adore that he asked permission first and would have been totally okay. But she says yes, and with the kiss everything clicked in place 100%. Possibly before that but you can really see he understands the other Cheol.
The idea that the comic is only a connector and their two worlds co-exist separately is great. The only people the Sung Moo can really control are the ones he created for the comic. Conversely, I wonder if there is a comic from Cheol's world that is based in Yeon Joo's.
He gives her his plan and rejects the Sung Moo's ending. The ending he has chosen is staying with Yeon Joo. He does not care what the readers think. That is his happy ending.
Honestly, his plan was really good. And he's so smart that he realizes he can summon himself to and from the comic world. He ties everything up there -real culprit arrested, him "dead", So Hui has a new purpose (though we know that is going to be false). I squeal at the fact he asks her to draw the ring that he lost. He wants that connection with her.
He comes back, and is oddly competitive with his comic self. He's determined to be better for Yeon Joon this time. I think he really hates how she was hurt.
They are all smiles at the end and I know that won't last because we are diving headfirst into pure pain and misery till the end.
