he had been keeping you company since you started studying about seven hours before, semi-quietly sitting on facetime as you slowly but surely lost your mind.

his voice sounds tinny coming through the speakers of your computer and you barely acknowledge him, impatiently dragging your pen across a copy of the periodic table as you search for—

“the relative atomic mass of iron: 55,85.” he smiles at you when you finally lift your head up to look at him. even through the screen and his wireframe glasses, you can tell by jisung’s eyes that he’s beyond exhausted.

“sung, you should go to bed. you look terrible.” you almost laugh at the irony of your own statement since you could see your own eye bags from the tiny square in the corner.

“i won’t sleep until you do and your crazy ass won’t sleep until you finish, so hurry and wrap up so you and i can both sleep.”

you rolled your eyes, but your heart felt warm. you couldn’t think of a single other person who would not only sit through all your chemistry meltdowns, but also go out of their way to help even if they knew nothing about chemistry.

jisung was truly the best friend you could ever ask for.

Thinking about academic whump. Whumpee puts all their mental energy into doing well in school and something is just keeping them from doing well. Whether that is Whumper or it is a situational thing, it doesn't matter because Whumpee is barely sleeping and they still can't manage to get their grades where they want them.

I can imagine Whumpee just collapsing one day because they are so exhausted. Maybe they miss a class, maybe they miss an exam. Either way they fucked up and now they are going to try even harder to do it right with the same result.
