Rating JWCC Ships

🦖 Benji (Ben/Kenji) - 7/10. I totally get where shippers are coming from with this. They had some cute season one moments and Kenji’s reaction to Ben’s “death” was quietly intense. I feel like this is an opposites attract type of ship, where Ben is always prepared and Kenji is...willfully unprepared.

🦕 Bensammy (Ben/Sammy) - 5/10. I don’t have a lot to say about this one because I don’t really see it but I don’t dislike it either.

🦖Yazben (Ben/Yasmina) - 5/10. Ah, the same as above. I don’t really see them together but I also don’t dislike them together.

🦕Brookben (Ben/Brooklynn) - 5/10. Look, it’s not that I think Ben likes dudes exclusively...it’s just that I also think that the girls don’t particularly like him romantically either. I don’t see them as a couple but I don’t dislike the ship. I can be persuaded!

🦖Benrius (Ben/Darius) - 10/10. We got such good content for them! That little moment on the monorail where Darius decides that he won’t ask Ben to risk his life for them but Ben does it anyway. How hard Darius tried to save Ben and how guilty he felt about it after. All of the touching. Pretty much everything about season 3, even their fight over Ben staying was so sweet. And the I love you made me scream with joy. The way that Darius accepted Ben needed to come to the decision to leave the island on his own and how he was waiting on the boat for Ben. I love them.

🦕Darenji (Darius/Kenji) - 6/10. I had to really think about my rating for this one because Kenji is such a dick. He really decided to shove responsibility off on Darius while trying to take credit for all of his plans. And he does this all the way up through season 3 right before they get on the boat. And then he blames Darius for leaving Brooklyn [temporarily] and isn’t over it by the time the credits roll as if Kenji isn’t directly responsible for making their lives harder than they need to be and his laziness and lying hasn’t risked their lives. That makes it sound like I hate this ship but tbh the first time I saw them together, I thought that they would be an interesting ship and there were moments spread throughout where I could see it.

🦖Dinostar (Darius/Brooklyn) - 9/10. These two are so cute together! They’ve got lots of cute moments and they work surprisingly well. Their nicknames for each other are super cute.

🦕Darisammy (Darius/Sammy) - 5/10. This is another one that I’m pretty neutral on.

🦖Dariyaz (Darius/Yasmina) - 5/10. I said it with Ben/girls but I feel the same for Yasmina/boys. I don’t really see them as a couple but I could be persuaded.

🦕Kenjilynn (Kenji/Brooklynn) - 8/10. I like the way they bicker in the beginning but honestly, didn’t start shipping them until season 3 where Kenji gets so upset about leaving Brooklynn behind. It definitely shed a different light on their relationship.

🦖Yazji (Kenji/Yasmina) - 4/10. Any chance that I might have shipped them - and it was a slim chance to begin with for the reasons stated above - absolutely went out the window when Kenji was so goddamn lazy and such an asshole that he wound up making Yasmina’s injured ankle even worse.

🦕Sammji (Kenji/Sammy) - 7/10. These two could be really cute together! I really liked how Kenji was soft with Sammy while she was poisoned and how he was willing to moo for her to ease some of her suffering. Plus, they’re both really outgoing and fun so I think they compliment each other well. I also really like the idea of Kenji going to Sammy’s farm and meeting her family and them adopting him as their son-in-law and giving him the love that he obviously needs.

🦖Yalynn (Yasmina/Brooklynn) - 6/10. I like that Yaz is really loyal and it would be cool to see that type of loyalty aimed at Brooklynn. But the fact is, it was aimed against her in season one and there’s an odd tension between them where they’re competing and basically having a dick measuring contest. If they were a couple, I think they’d be the type to try to out-do each other in every gesture of affection.

🦕Yasammy (Yasmina/Sammy) - 8/10. I love them together! This is where Yaz’s loyalty actually was - even though Sammy didn’t deserve it in season one lol - but I love the development of their relationship. They are so sweet to each other - except that one time Yaz was mean - and I like how close they are to each other. Their moments are so cute and I can’t wait to see more of them together.

🦖Sammylynn (Sammy/Brooklynn) - 5/10. They could be cute together actually, if you could get past seasons one and three. Sammy becoming the only follower that Brooklynn cares about. The way their relationship is a push and pull of being with each other and against each other. They had some bonding moments and I think with more development, they could be good.
