My gift for the 2024 MBD gift exchange!! This is for @silverstreams , the prompt was "Murderbot and ART get into an argument over something silly/stupid, and the crew is trying their best to not get pulled in but get pulled in anyway," which made me think of one thing: the classic wicked witch of the east audio.

@transingthoseformers you are one of the few that I am blaming for this, because I have seen this yesterday at the wee hours of the morning and could not stop thinking about the one version of things where I DID give Megs titties
posting your artwork publically can be so rewarding and so motivating but most of the time it just results in psychological turmoil inflicted on yourself
Thinking about how indirect Rufus is when he's implying to the Turks they are free to leave Shinra the day after the destruction of Meteor when he's usually the type to be really direct when talking to his employees.
The L room installed by his father is a twisted way to showcase that Rufus is a failure if he ever had to use it. I think a part of him was ready to accept this as fact & was expecting his employees would give up on him until the Turks refused because they only know how to evolve in a system set up by Shinra.
Knowing how the scene is from Tseng's POV, Rufus seemingly satisfied smile when he affirmed he can only work within Shinra could have hidden a sense relief within his heart ( & who knows, Rufus might not even be aware that this how he felt on the moment)
His father may have labeled him as a failure & his reputation is ruined but some of his employees and the Turks still decided to follow him. They can all still go on & rebuild together & but it also feels bittersweet due to that sense of co-dependancy to Shinra.
No wonder it is difficult for them to label themselves other than boss & employees despite their bond ( & how dysfunctionnal they sometime can be with each other) as they are living their lives at Healen's Lodge.
… Someone kidnaps Mac and uses him as leverage to force Jack to hunt down and assassinate someone, w/ Riley and Bozer getting the insanely difficult task of trying to do a complicated dance of protecting the target from Jack while he tries to give them as much leeway as possible without being obvious, while they also try to figure out who has Mac and rescue him.
Naturally the resolution would involve Mac partially breaking out himself, Jack getting to beat the hell out the people behind it.
