#i have an unhealthy obsession with this country and its history

one of my favorite scenes in tgcf is the cave of ten thousand gods because of what it reveals about xie lian. hua cheng is actually a walking red flag and its quite clear to everyone that he's obsessed with xie lian to an unhealthy degree. with the reveal about the earring and the statues, feng xin and mu qing are rightfully concerned, and fx asks xl, 'doesn't looking at these things scare you?' and when xl defends hc, mq says 'did he actually cast something on you to confound your mind? i think even if he was to write ‘suspicious’ on his face you’d suddenly become illiterate.'
now xl is the king of willful ignorance and self-delusion, but in this scene can't deny hc's devotion to him. however, xl is used to being abandoned. his entire country turned it's back on him, his parents killed themselves, his best friends abandoned him, and he was expelled from heaven, hated and mocked by everyone in the three realms. except for one person. xl still doesn't realize his whole history with hc and a lot of assumptions are made during this scene, but seeing proof of hc's devotion comforts him. hc is the only one who believes in xl, and xl is so messed up and traumatized by his past experiences that being stalked for 800 years is his idea of a dream relationship. i think that 'cute and wholesome' is a fundamental misinterpretation of hualian's relationship. yes, they have cute moments, but they're both so deeply fucked up that outsiders of their relationship are very concerned.

Dark Academia is a subculture and it isn't problematic, just misunderstood.
I am so tired of people that aren't a part of this community shitting on dark academia literally any time it gains popularity again, claiming that it's pretentious, elitist and racist. It's not problematic, at least not in a way most people criticise it for.
What all of those people don't seems to understand is that there's the dark academia aesthetic and there is the dark academia the subculture. Even when they do understand they still put people who are only interested in the fashion and overall vibe together with people who are dark academia.
Why is dark academia a subculture?
First let's start with what even subculture is?
It's a cultural group within a larger culture, often sharing a collection of values, beliefs, rituals and traditions. Despite what many believes, it doesn't have to have any connection to music, like Star Trek and Star Wars fans, but there's no need for having a shared fandom at all, like the gays, bikers and youth.
Participation in the dark academia subculture is not limited to following a specific set of fashion. It suggest preferred activities, hobbies, philosophies and lifestyles. The focus is on reading and expanding one’s horizons, on becaming the best version of oneself no matter the cost, especially by engaging in classical literature, history, foreign languages, mythology, art and philosophy. On top of that DA is actually connected to certain music (classical and neoclassical) and fandoms.
The (incorrect) criticisms:
1. One of the more common criticisms of dark academia is that of its superficiality and pretentiousness – that it is more a fetishisation of intellectual life than real intellectual life. "Instead of being a reading society, it's a Dead Poets Society cosplay." This is just simply untrue. Yes, there are people who are purely here for the aesthetic and vibes, but they aren't part of the subculture. People who are genuinely part of this community do read all those books, write poetry, journal e.t.c regularly and try to be well educated.
2. The money issue. Now this is where it gets funny. Dark academia is often called classist and racist because of it's "idealised vision of the academic lifestyle in which the money is simply there". Obviously in places where higher education is strictly financially driven studying is a bitch. Nowadays there are even a lot of doctors who are homeless, especially in US. But DA is mainly a European thing, and in a lot of EU countries studying isn't that expensive, it's not cheap either (books costs a lot and not working doesn't help), but you don't need to pay for a good education, you need to study hard and compete with others to get good education.
This however is not a dark academia problem. It's a harsh reality. One that we need to fight with. Getting higher education shouldn't make you get into a debt. It shouldn't make you sacrifice social life for studying all your life only to end on the streets.
3. "Eurocentric obsession". This is so dumb I don't even know to say. How can you possibly call people, mostly from Europe, problematic for being fascinated by Europe's history, it's past culture, Greek mythology, mostly European philosophers (but American too), Latin that is still fucking taught at many schools here, etc. All of things are taught in schools here. There is nothing wrong with you being obsessed with Asian royalty and making it part of your personality, but God forbid, you, a white person, are obsessed with the best parts of your history and culture 🙄.
4. Another criticism of dark academia is that it encourages unhealthy behaviour, both physically (caffeine overconsumption, smoking, drugs) and mentally (perfectionist, constant competition). The pursuit of perfection comes at a price. The entire idea of DA is to study as hard as possible so you can reach enlighten. It's workaholism, except it's school, not work. Now this is why I think dark academia isn't problematic in a way people think, but is misunderstood.
A melancholic comforting dream
It's easy to understand why people think DA is unhealthy or fake. Nights spent studying, writing essays for hours on end, drowning in books and writing excessive notes. For many this sounds like a nightmare, but dark academia romanticise it. It see it as the true joy of university life. At the same time there's taking joy in reflecting on what is irretrievably lost, pessimistic and melancholic.
In reality most people in this community are overworked neurodivergent, usually twice exceptional, youth who struggles mentally. So many people are twice exceptional and it's very obvious. The hyperfixetions, the love for linguistics and humanities, the hate of math.
For many Dark Academia is a coping method.
Staples of dark academia fiction explore intellectualism, classic literature and self-discovery, but also the struggle of fighting for your identity, the way humans are shaped by their trauma, the way they destroy themselves to be better. The word "dark" in Dark Academia is primarily about those dark sides of the human nature, not just the dark colours of the DA aesthetic.
If you think that Dead Poets Society romanticised suicide or Kill Your Darlings academicly motivated drug use then you're the crazy one here. People loved those movies, because of how relatable they were, even the suffering.
Studying is a bitch. If you make it fun then you are less depressed about the fact that you don't have the choice to not study all night. It's not just nostalgia for what you haven't experienced, but what you have to endure all your youth. Some people are forced to study to be the very best and sacrifice their (social) lives, because the system is so broken, but if you can make it into your own, comforting, time - it's better. Sure, the movies and books have lots of harmful copying mechanism, but irl (or in this case online) this community encourages healthy methods like reading, making art, journaling, acting etc.
I do think there's a lot of to talk about when it comes to, for example, sexism, and I do agree DA needs more diversity than just white cis man, but like I said, it's not problematic in a way most people criticise it for.

I can’t believe they let Lizzo [play a flute owned by James Madison / twerk even though she’s not skinny / continue to exist as a Black woman].
I found this event [triggering / in violation of my need to only ever see thin white women on my timeline]. As someone who spends a fair bit of time yammering on about our nation’s heritage, it deeply offends me that [Lizzo seems to care about our nation’s heritage / a Black woman is now the Librarian of Congress].
Clearly this horrible event was a form of racial retribution. I know this because I believe life is a zero-sum game where [there are only winners and losers / only white people should put their lips on white people flutes / Lizzo should be as sad and lonely as my white nationalist substack subscribers].
Some people saw Lizzo playing James Madison’s flute and thought, Gee, what a nice thing that any normal person can enjoy. But this is the wrong reaction. Whenever anything happens in the world involving a prominent Black person, the correct thing to do is [immediately make it about myself / have a knee-jerk reaction I will never honestly explore / interpret it through my precious and lucrative lens of white grievance].
I don’t care if Lizzo is a [classically trained musician / popular and beloved artist / cultural icon]. Those things don’t matter to me, because when I look at Lizzo perform, all I can ever see is her [skin color / gender / body size], the three things that matter most to me when I judge a woman.
Speaking of which, what is a woman? Having given this question an unhealthy and inappropriate amount of thought, a woman is someone who should be [a virgin until she is married to a man / forced to give birth against her will / white if aquatic]. A woman is not someone who should [feel entitled to dress the way they want / dance the way they want / behave in ways that don’t please me personally].
I am absolutely qualified to make judgments on Lizzo’s performance, musical talent, and clothing choices because my only talent is [whining about white victimhood / obsessing about trans kids / podcasting about the scientific validity of Black mermaids].
James Madison is one of our most venerated forefathers, and in my anger over this Lizzo abomination, I’ve never once stopped to consider that President Madison [owned slaves / believed women didn’t deserve the right to vote / never once played his crystal flute]. And now that I’ve learned about the existence of this crystal flute, it seems very important to me that it should remain hidden away, just like [women who don’t conform to a Barbie standard of beauty / honest historical accounts about slavery and its enduring legacy / the truth behind my knee-jerk disgust response to Lizzo].
There are those who might take this event as an opportunity to celebrate the fact that Lizzo [actually cares about American history enough to tour the Library of Congress / is bringing welcome attention to the Library of Congress’s collection / is a multitalented artist and musician using her fame and powers for the good]. Me? I’m taking this opportunity to [embarrass myself, yet again, on Twitter / expose myself, yet again, as a petty and pathetic human being / enrich myself, yet again, off the dollars of people who still believe Trump “drained the swamp”].
At her Washington DC concert, Lizzo thanked the Library of Congress for preserving our history. She sparked international interest in its archival collection and inspired band kids everywhere to play their instruments with pride. What a sad episode for anyone who cares about this country. In fact, I feel quite ill. In a minute, I’m going to need [some smelling salts / to write yet another think piece about the catastrophe of wokeness / my comfort Confederate flag].
The Library of Congress should never allow someone like Lizzo to touch their archival instruments again. And that’s because [these instruments, which I’ve never given a thought to before today, are very important to me / Lizzo living her best life is something that makes me really mad / when I talk about our “heritage,” this is just code for “white people”].

Hi there! I’ve noticed you a lot around Aph Mongolia posts, so I wanted to ask you some questions! First, as a foreigner, what you made you so interested in this character? Second, could you go into who you ship him with and why? It’s nice to see people still actively talking about my boy, so I was hoping to engage a bit!
Hi! :D Thank you for the ask! Well, I guess I've been interested in Mongolian culture/history for a few years now, it first peaked my interest when I was around 13? So its been 6, almost 7 years of being obsessed haha. I really love reading and learning about Mongolian history and culture, I even really like Mongolian music too and listen to it along with all of my other songs on my playlist! I first got into hetalia when I was 12, and so my love for hetalia and love for Mongolia kind of collided and well here I am all these years later still posting about it lol!
Over the years my hcs of Mongolia as a character has changed as I've read more about Mongolian history/culture but also influenced from what other people post about him so there are things from old accounts I may have posted in the past which I don't agree with now but. I honestly think Mongolia as a character would be so damn interesting? Considering his past and current way of living, and how he got to where he is now. Like there's so much history there to work with, not even just when he had an empire, but before that and after that too. Even who his predecessors could have been/were is so interesting to me. He himself really influenced a lot of other nations histories also. His relationships, with other nations too is so interesting to think about!!
Ships, some are a lot more wholesome than others:
Tibet x Mongolia - YES DHSJD LOVE THEM thank you @flyingsassysaddles so wholesome 😭
India x Mongolia - @flyingsassysaddles made a really good post about that ship and the history between the two which got me into it!
Turkey x Mongolia - umm old history and they just seem really fun together tbh!
Japan x Mongolia - I think the history between them is kind of funny tbh 😭 plus nowadays both countries are on good terms with each other! Both have similar kind of interests, with Japans national sport being Sumo and Mongolias is bukh, also I think Mongolians dominating Sumo is hilarious I'm sorry. I have a bit of a raunchy reason for shipping them too but I'm not sure of what your age is so I'm not sure if I should answer that for you!
Vietnam x Mongolia - lol she beat his ass 😍 I think he kind of respects her for that tho. but I think this would be a power couple tbh like I can see them both just standing next to each other with resting bitch faces 😭
Ok this one is controversial asf LMAO its China x Mongolia ☠️ I don't personally see it as a healthy "ship" though like. At its best I like imagining them as two old men bickering with each other but like unlike the other ships which have a lot of potential to be healthy this one, no not really when you look at the history and current politics. I mean you're Mongolian of course you know this haha. I'm a little hesitant to put out Monchu content for this reason even tho like. I recently wrote a one-shot lol. For me when I'm being serious about the ship and not viewing it in the usual light-hearted hetalia lense, it would be like a tragic/complicated/unhealthy/emotionally taxing/toxic "relationship". I have a post planned in which I try to explain it but I'm very hesitant to even post it.
This one seems so random hahaha but Philippines x Mongolia because I was curious and looked up Philippines-Mongolia relations and like. It was quite short but there was a small painting of a Mongolian couple who visited the Philippines in the 17th century in there? And they were in furs and all and considering the heat and humidity of the Philippines 😨 So I find it funny just. Thinking about him going there on a whim or something because screw it why not and being unprepared for the humidity and aph Philippines being like bro what is wrong with you 😭 Also I think him calling aph Mongolia Mango-lia is cute jdsjdjaj. This is more of a fun, random one.
I have some poly ships with him too but idk they're not too fleshed out :> Thank you sm for the ask tho I love reading your insight on things!

Life in an atheist country. via /r/atheism
Life in an atheist country.
I know some of you hear whatabout arguments implying all sorts of horror if we abandoned religion. So maybe some of you might want to know what it's like since some Christians seem to pretend like such a thing doesn't or couldn't exist.
I live in China.
Despite what you might read or what Christians might try to push, it's atheist. You might read online about many people following "folk religions." First off, this is the countryside, and 2nd this is nothing more than rituals regarding death or luck. It is nothing like what a westerner would think of as a religion. And in the cities, people don't follow them. In cities like Shanghai, 26 million people, nearly everyone you meet is an atheist.
If you ask locals, "Where does morality come from?" Everyone will say "From family, from society," which is probably what you expected.
China has both good points and bad points, like any other country. It shares certain cultural traits with its neighbors, Korea and Japan. But one should keep in mind that Korea is way more spiritual, and 25% of the population is Christian, and usually fairly devoutly so. So in atheism caused immorality, shouldn't Korea be 25% more moral than China?
Well I've lived in Korea for 6 years and China for 10 years. Here's my observations as honest as I can (let me preface this with I get along with Chinese people and I really like Korean people). Also, keep in mind China has huge regional differences, and in North China its very similar to Korea.
Sex: Koreans are way more obsessed with it, while in China people are the most sexually unobsessed people I've ever met (maybe because according to a Durex condom survey they're having more of it). I feel like between China, Korea, Japan, American, and the UK, the Chinese have the most mature view of sex. In both Korea and China women worry about their reputation but never feel guilty for having sex. There is no sin associated with it.
Crime: Yes, lots of corruption, however I think accusing Chinese people's crimes of being caused by atheism to be wholly unfair. First off, there are crimes that are very common here: fraud and corruption, but crimes common in the US that are very rare here, like violence, murder. Secondly, the style of criminal here is exactly like the style of criminal in Korea. Except Koreans are far more violent. So it is far more likely that the crimes here are a result of culture, and since the only difference is Korean violence (and jealously) and they have Christians, so if there was a spiritual causal relationship it would be Christianity and violence.
Alcohol: Chinese people are always telling me they drink a lot but I never see it. Whereas in the US many men have a beer after work. And in Korea, a measure of manhood is "how many bottles of soju can you drink."
Morality and political change: Here the inevitable change of moving forward is not blamed on the immorality of pleasure seeking heathens, but of corrupting foreigners trying to make people "unChinese."
No eschatology: people are not constantly thinking the world is at an end nor are natural disasters blamed on the wrath of God.
Money: the Chinese DO have a very unhealthy obsession with money. I wouldn't call it greed, its more because they honestly believe that money is the key to happiness. Hence, they are so miserable, even rich Chinese people.
5000 years: If you said the Earth was 5000 years old it makes Chinese people laugh, "We have 5000 years of history!"
The battle of the sexes: It does not exist here. The perceived differences between men and women is vastly smaller than the US. Of course there are men who are sleezes, but there are also lots of women who use men as well. Like pretending to be pregnant to get money for abortions and "emotional trauma," which is typically around 1000 dollars.
Zealous ideologies: while there are jingoists, there are not all these other zealous ideologies that probably stem from a culture of religion: cults, diet cults, polti-cults, the alt left, the alt right.
No proselytizing and religions dont' wield power: if a religion were to try to vie for political power it would get banned.
People with conspiracy theories are rare, this is probably because a lot of them have a religious basis.
There are many other differences, but those are the ones that have a bit of connection to religion. So the next time someone says your country would fall into chaos without religion, point out the 1.4 billion people of the country with 5000 years of history. And before they talk about how evil China is (yes the CCP are dicks) it doesn't mean the citizens are evil and I hope this list I provided helps provide you with material to draw upon for defense.

Hetalia Axis Powers
Tumblr media
Hetalia Axis Powers was one of the most interesting anime we have watched in this class. I have never heard of this anime before and I was honestly excited to watch this anime when I was looking at screenshots of it. In addition, this show slightly reminded me of Barefoot Gen and Grave of the Fireflies. The personification of the countries was something that actually caught me off guard when I started watching. The personification of Italy for instance made it seem like Italy was dumb and that they had a weird and unhealthy obsession with pasta. However, there were some important messages that the anime conveys to its audience through the combination of world history and animation.
The story is essentially about Italy’s struggles throughout history and the show portrays Italy as immature and a bit childish. Obviously in World War I and World War II, Italy was not obsessed with making pasta, however it can be interpreted that Italy is that annoying kid who asks if you have games on your phone. The anime does a good job of detailing and making satire out of the irrational ideals that arose. Additionally, one thought I had when I was watching the show was how a country’s reputation can be changed because of a leader and their views and ideals. The reading also had some correlation to the anime with one of the main things being that “friction” has the ability to bring people together. Initially, I thought this was a contradictory point but the way the author described it made it seem that anime has a unique power to bring many people across the world together.
All in all, I really liked how different this anime was and how the anime went about talking about World War II. It was done in such a creative way and it really made me like the anime.

This translated version of Estonia's page on the Collezione is worse than I thought.
So, woke up today and saw that Estonia's Collezione page has been finally translated to the best of the fans abilities. Safe to say I despise majority of the content we see.
Where do I even begin with this? First lets go to the profile.
Tumblr media
Very quickly things go downhill when the desire to be Nordic is brought up.
Let me clarify, Estonia suggested to join the Nordics with many reasons like- once, during the 90's and got rejected. Most people here don't care of even know about this, we view ourselves as Baltics who have a closeness to the Nordics. Culturally a grey area. Besides, the Nordic-Baltic 8 is a legitimate thing that exists. The way Himaruya depicts Estonia by making him so obsessive with being Nordic is disgustingly inaccurate and a very very old joke. No one is laughing Himaruya, no one is laughing! This joke paints a terrible image of Estonia and how he treats those close to him. Estonia is a small country so its easier to damage how people view Estonia like this.
Besides the Nordic stuff there's also a few smaller thing that bother me.
Shopping at Finland's house? That sounds sweet but makes absolutely no sense. Finland is a much much more expensive country for Estonians, we don't go there to shop but to just have a trip to Finland and go to places like Linnanmäki (an amusement park, Estonia has none). With shopping it's usually the opposite with Finns coming to Estonia for alcohol, materials for craft, or even sweets because of Estonia being significantly cheaper for them.
Also,, favourite food piirakka? Himaruya, it's pirukas in Estonian, and it just means pie. What pie? If you mean Karelian pie then I'll have you know it has more of a presence in Finland than here. Also Estonians are very known to love rye bread, and it is very true, why can't you just put that he likes rye bread? Would it kill you to do even one google search?
Tumblr media
This isn't that bad but I still feel bothered by the return of the whole "Don't we look alike? Could we be brothers?" thing that makes no sense. Sweden is a Germanic country while Estonia is Finnic/Finno-Ugric. I think that is enough to say why this is one of the most stupidest things Himaruya has suggested.
What also bothers me is the whole "The Great Sweden" thing, Estonia definitely does look up to the Nordics because of their reputation for a good quality of life and such, but why is he placing Sweden on a pedestal like this? Over the sea they're neighbours and have a very long history of having once fought but then having formed a strong mutual respectable friendship with eachother.
I am aware that Himaruya refuses to acknowledge these two as friends but it feels even worse for me that Himaruya now depicts Estonia treating Sweden as some very highly person that they couldn't be on similar grounds with at all - as like some whole other class he can't even talk to. It's nice that Estonia appreciates whenever Nordics compliment him but with the way its interpreted it feels unhealthy how he places them on such high pedestals. I don't know how to explain it, but picture it like if you were to make a bigger deal out of a celebrity saying "Cool." to you instead of cherishing when your real friend says a whole paragraph of nice and meaningful things to you. Maybe I'm overthinking this but it just really bothers me.
Tumblr media
It is sweet to see Latvia say how he respects Estonia confidence in certain areas.. Until we are given a panel of Latvia clearly done with how Estonia won't stop talking about the Nordics that at this point he always expects this to be about them whenever Estonia is happy. That is so fucked up.
It's also messed up how Estonia will take any chance to slam it in someone's face trying to tell he's Nordic. Just. Stop. Estonia you do realize your own history exists too? What about Latvia? What about Latvia who you were basically glued together with for 700 years? Does he mean nothing to you?
Now, I left the worst ones for last!
Tumblr media
Where do I begin with this?
Estonians highly value their tricolour, we had to fought more than once to be able to raise this flag and express our pride for who we are. A popular Estonian cross flag does exist, but its only popular among the very tiny minority of people hiding that actually want Estonia to be Nordic, but they're such a small minority and often looked down upon for how they want the flag to be changed.
It is actually terribly offensive to tell us that we should change our flag after all we've been through for it. That is our national symbol and people who tell us to change it don't understand the weight of it.
Also on a smaller note "Estonia is doing whatever he can to get along with the Nordics" is implying Estonia doesn't or struggles to. That is just dragging both Estonia and the Nordics in the dirt because Himaruya clearly doesn't know the relations between all the Nordics and Estonia. It's sad really, to imply that they aren't all even friends.
Tumblr media
Where do I begin with THIS?
Dear mother nature itself do I hope this is a massive mistranlastion! This has to be THE WORST part of the whole page!
Himaruya Hidekaz , do you know an ounce of Baltic trio history? Does the Baltic Chain ring a bell? Have you heard of "Hurt one of us you hurt all of us"? What was he thinking when he thought of saying that Estonia would really watch Latvia and Lithuania basically destroy themselves while he ditches them for the Nordics? That is disgusting to so many many levels I can't even bring myself to speak further about it. The Baltics have a bond that goes beyond being lingually or culturally similar, you can be different and still be close. When one is in trouble we are always immediately ready to fight for eachother and it's been like that for over 30 years.
I'm sorry if this seems rushed or difficult to read but I am just so tired of this whole thing, and the anger I am feeling for the treatment of my small precious country is insane. This has definitely been the final straw for me but I am not going to leave Hetalia for this, no, I am staying to fight because unlike other communities, the Hetalia fandom is more willing to listen.
Please spread awareness of this, this really has to stop and I don't want the general fandom latching onto this view of Estonia.

Why was Lorenzo such a jealous bitch nd why does this fandom treat him like he's a good person😑
okay so i know that this is a rethorical question but i've actually thought about this a lot so i'll take my crack at answering this - WHY is lorenzo such a jealous bitch?
the only thing he's said about why he hates magnus - that i remember of, at least - is the line "he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. his fame is not based on talent, it's all nepotism"
now, anyone who knows anything at all about magnus knows that not a single fucking word of this is true. magnus was born poor in a recently colonized country under a lot of oppression, there was no damn silver spoon in his mouth, and after that he was thoroughly abused by his demon father. his fame is also absolutely based on talent - he invented portals, for fuck's sake! and the "nepotism" comment barely makes sense. i assume he means it's just that magnus' power is all due to the fact that his father is demon royalty, which makes magnus more powerful than most warlocks
so, that explains what lorenzo is jealous of - magnus' power and prestige among warlocks (such as having been HWoB for decades) - but not what the fuck lorenzo's deal is (i mean, we've met plenty of other warlocks in the show, many of which weren't really fans of magnus, but no one other than lorenzo has this idea that magnus doesn't deserve his fame), or why magnus (because while like, yes, magnus is very powerful, i assume he's not the only son of a prince of hell, considering asmodeus is not the only prince of hell and these guys get on the loose, like, weekly. and lorenzo is obviously OBSESSED with him, he deliberately went out of his way and abused his power as HWoB several times specifically to antagonize him, and also, you know, TRIED TO KILL HIM)
lorenzo talks about magnus almost as if magnus took something from him. it's not just that magnus is powerful and that he supposedly doesn't deserve it, lorenzo obviously feels as if antagonizing magnus is some sort of vengeance. i know plenty of jealous people, but going as far as forbidding anyone other than himself from giving magnus a magic transfusion, specifically saying that if it went wrong he wouldn't help, and then refusing to take back the magic when he KNEW perfectly well that would kill him, is to me very obviously a thought out plan TO kill magnus. lorenzo had been hoping from the start that magnus' body would reject his magic and the transfusion would kill him - why else would he specifically say, the second he agreed to the transfusion, that if it went wrong magnus would be on his own?
and it's not like lorenzo even gains anything from that, other than killing magnus. and humiliating him, which lorenzo has said explicitly was something he wanted to do (i believe the term he used was "breaking his spirit", but potato potatoh). if it was about magnus' position of power, he already had that - lorenzo literally already had the HWoB position. if it was about magnus' magic, he had already lost it. lorenzo had absolutely NOTHING to gain from magnus, so his personal vendetta against him doesn't even make sense from JUST a jealousy standpoint. he had already "won" over magnus. the only explanation is that he wanted some kind of revenge
but revenge from what? well, we know that magnus and lorenzo don't like each other, but magnus never really TOOK anything from lorenzo. considering how he wouldn't miss an opportunity to talk about how much he hated him, i think lorenzo would have brought it up if that had been the case. and magnus is just not the kind of person to pull the rug from under other people's feet - look no further than the whole show for evidence of that. he literally puts the others above himself at all times (which is unhealthy but that's another story and something i've talked about plenty of times already)
so why does lorenzo feel so much resentment towards magnus? why does he act as if magnus' power took something that was rightfully his?
i think lorenzo feels that he was entitled to be the most powerful, to have the most prestige, to be above magnus, and he resented magnus because that was simply not true
why?
let's go back to the only thing we know about lorenzo's backstory - the baby painting. yes, it's a huge meme, but think about that for a second. lorenzo has a huge ass painting of himself as a baby that he displays proudly in his home and that's, like, his #1 stop at the house tour. the baby painting. "needless to say, being born in spain during the siglo de oro was quite the experience". is the first thing he said
let's make this abundantly clear: this line makes it canon that lorenzo is a colonizer. the siglo de oro ("golden century" in spanish) started (roughly) in 1492, year of the """""discovery""""" of the americas, and ended (roughly) in 1659, the year when spain signed a treaty and lost a bunch of their territories to france (link to source). altho the term is usually used to refer to the boom of the arts in spain, it's obvious, just from these historical landmarks, that the siglo de oro is about colonization. it's about the fact that at the time spain was at its peak colonial power, and could afford to exploit what later became third world countries, and put part of that money (in fact, the literal gold they were stealing from latin american countries) into arts and other luxuries (because in the renaissance portraits were a luxury item and a symbol of status - link to source) for the ultra rich that benefited from colonization
so, lorenzo is not only a colonizer, but he's a part of the elite. the fact that his family could afford to have a painting of him as a BABY (portraits were almost exclusively adult portraits, and usually of the whole family, unless you were even richer than the rich. and even then individual portraits were usually to celebrate important achievements such as a marriage or acquisition of state - a baby being born doesn't qualify, especially because at the time most babies died not long after birth anyway), and a HUGE painting on top of that, shows that they were just. loaded in an incomprehensible way. im talking jeff bezos level of riches. they were the elite of the biggest colonial empire of their century. so, ironically, lorenzo was born with a silver spoon in his mouth - everything that he had, he was born having, and he specifically had because it was being stolen due to a dramatically violent process of genocide and slavery, that he believed to be entitled to simply because he was born a spaniard/white. that is all canon, because in the shverse mundane history is the same as in real life. EVERYONE who was born in the colonial elites was taught that they were entitled to shit from other countries, that they were superior not only to other ppls but also to their own people - let's not forget that this was way before the advent of republics, those were monarchies. the ppl who were part of the elite straight up believed they were superior to others by virtue of god
"woah woah woah but lorenzo is played by javier muñoz who's brown" yeah, which is unfortunate, but he is still canonically a colonizer. first off, because it's not like they wanted someone to be lorenzo and were looking for brown people - they were looking for someone javier could play because he's a bigshot broadway actor who was also a fan of the show, and then they picked lorenzo. probably because the sh showrunners don't fucking know the difference between a latino and a spaniard. or maybe they do, but they thought, "eh, close enough". either way, lorenzo is a spaniard, and he was born a colonizer - ergo, he is white, regardless of what race his actor is, regardless of even what he looks like. there are plenty of white spaniards with similar skin tones to lorenzo, because what today is spain used to be a territory occupied by middle eastern ppl, and there was mixing. what makes whiteness is not skin tone, it's context, and the context of being a literal colonizer directly benefitting of the oppression of black and brown people is as white as it gets
so, to recap: lorenzo was born a white colonizer, and he was RAISED believing that everything he had, he was entitled to. he was entitled to it by virtue of god, because he was born a part of the rich elite in the richest colonial power in the world, and he had access to everything he could possibly want. and he wasn't just entitled to riches and power - which he still has, look at his fucking mansion, dude - but specifically to superiority to his peers. especially black and brown people, the source of his riches, the people who owe him the wealth he takes from them
and then he joins the warlock world, and not only is he not royalty (because presumably he is the son of a regular demon, not too high up in the hierarchy) but some brown guy is. and this guy is in a position of power over him (high warlock) and he is better than him (at magic, specifically, but also at everything including being a human being, but lorenzo doesn't care about that). and lorenzo is fucking livid, because he believes himself to be entitled to be the best, entitled to be treated as a superior, entitled to admiration and to servitude, especially from people like magnus (let's not forget that the philippines - colonized by spain during the siglo de oro - are right next to indonesia [link]). instead, magnus is, politically speaking, his superior
and it's not like it even means much because the high warlock position is implied to be kind of like, the mayor, and it's not like magnus ever abused his power (unlike some people - and sidenote, i think this backstory is also why lorenzo was so comfortable using his power to antagonize magnus: because he was raised in a context where political power was pretty much boundless and politics and the personal feelings of the ruler were not separated). so in practice its really just that if lorenzo had a problem, he could go to magnus, and if magnus made a decision that referred to all warlocks, lorenzo was supposed to follow it. it's nowhere near like, actual subservience. but it's way too much for someone who was raised to be entitled to the level that lorenzo was
so that's why he has this feeling that magnus took something from him - because in his head, everything magnus has, lorenzo should be entitled to. because in his head, any and all power rightfully belongs to him, and if magnus has it, then it has been stolen. and that might not even be conscious of his part or whatever, altho i doubt lorenzo doesn't think in explicitly racist terms at least in private, but that had been ingrained into his head for centuries on end. if it's still ingrained into the heads of white spaniards born TODAY, imagine one who was actually born at the fucking height of racist exploitation
so. yeah. that's why lorenzo is such a jealous bitch. that's why he hates magnus so much - because he feels that magnus having anything at all lorenzo doesn't is theft, and ironically, he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, but believes that he earnt what he has whereas magnus didn't. it's not just jealousy, it's a profound feeling of racist vendetta, and i'm sure the sh writers didn't mean it that way, they were just writing a big villain to bring malec together, but death of the author, baby! and this explanation actually makes sense without having to change anything in canon, so, i feel very comfortable saying that's why lorenzo behaves the way he does

Death of A Genre
YouTuber Nathan Zed made a video about why the YA dystopian genre died for movies. He said it was a combination of oversaturation and most of them trying to be The Hunger Games. He said it was still peculiar since niche movies/books like Twilight are still in the public consciousness, and superhero movies are oversaturated yet are still profitable. So why were YA dystopias still a dead genre?
Hollywood always does this. Every time a movie of a particular genre makes millions (or even billions), they obsess over it and pump out as many movies as possible, thinking it’s the next big thing. Superhero movies were the exception because they already had a long-established history in mainstream media. The first superhero movie came out in 1939. Unlike superhero movies, there isn’t much room for creativity in the YA dystopian genre. If you want a superhero thriller, watch Unbreakable. Superhero horror, Brightburn. Superhero comedy, Deadpool. Superhero drama, Logan. Superhero subversion, Watchmen. YA dystopians, on the other hand, all look and feel the same while telling the same message. The government is bad, and the only one who can save the world is a ragtag group of misfits led by a teenager with one or more dead parents. That teenage is also the object of affection by two or more handsome boys. Darkest Minds had it the worst because that was probably most of those child actors' first movie. Now they’re all gonna have the movie with the record for worst opening weekend on their resumes. Another problem with YA dystopians, besides being poorly executed, is most of them have nothing to say about society. In the Hunger Games, the message was clear. The government doesn't care about poor people, and those who oppose the government can be just as apathetic about human lives. It’s a clear and unmistakable message that’s unfortunately true about the real world. Meanwhile, Divergent and The Giver say the government doesn't like individuality. That’s not true about American society at all. America is one of the most individualistic countries in the world. Divergent and The Giver would’ve made more sense if it was about Japanese society, which does value conformity. I don’t even know what Maze Runner was trying to say. The government prioritizes saving the lives of many rather than a select few? When you have a story about revolutions, you need to draw some parallels to the real world since there are plenty of examples that can enrich the story and make it more believable. I hope I don’t have to explain why revolutions are inherently political. Some people say we don’t need YA dystopian movies since we’re already living in one, but I think that’s precisely why we need them now more than ever. People, especially kids, need to learn that it’s never ok to allow the government to abuse its power.
As for why Twilight never died. Twilight is an enigma. It has the perfect balance of defenders and detractors to keep the conversation going. Not to mention, unlike YA dystopians, it actually had an impact on the real world. For example, the Native American tribe the Jacob Black belonged to is based on a real tribe called the Quileute. Thanks to Twilight, the tribe was able to gain income through tourism and win the fight to move their reservation to a land with less flooding. Also, much like superhero movies, urban fantasies and romance have existed for a long time. Twilight gets bashed for its unhealthy portrayal of romance, but it's nothing compared to normal adult romance. Plus, vampires and werewolves have always been romanticized. So it's not like it was doing anything new other than making everyone a teenager.

Have you considered ESFP for the real Henry VIII?* I ask for a couple of reasons.
1.) It’s the dominant typing on personality database right now, although I take that with a grain of salt.
2.) I could see his focus on his heir being connected to a Se-Te loop.
3.) I could see him as a good candidate for personality disorders, which might explain his lack of empathy even as a feeling type.
I don’t know enough about him to say for sure, except that he seems like a clear Se dominant.
*I know you said you weren’t taking historical typing request, and that this may be pushing the line a bit. However, I’m not asking for a full typing, just your opinion. Plus, you are kind of an expert on the Tudors, so I figured this would be an exception.
I don't mind answering historical questions, I'm just not familiar with every single historical figure ever to exist. ;)
I also don't know how much we can trust history when assessing its heroes and villains, because the historians of the time were paid (and felt pressured) to glamorize (or demonize, if hired by the next regime) their monarchs, and so they paint a very different portrait of the eighteen year old Henry VIII and the "old tyrant." When Henry came to power, he was generous to a fault according to them, giving away vast estates to make people like him, and to atone for his ISTJ 5w6 sp-dom father's "tyrannical" ways (he found and exploited all the laws he could, to make England a rich and powerful country through taxes, tariffs, and fines; he was brilliant at it). But Henry was never that emotionally mature and always willing to scapegoat people to make himself look better -- after his father's death, he had two of his father's closest advisors executed and blamed them for the "corruption" of his father's reign, to clear his father's name.
I think there's some truth in "absolute power corrupts absolutely," and you see it in both Henry's to a different degree -- his father became obsessed with money and security and the son became callous and used to having whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted it.
People like to point out that the blow to his head when he was out for hours after a joust changed his personality, but I disagree with that -- he showed cruel traits many times in his younger years, in how he found vindictive ways to "punish" his wives for his displeasure in their actions. The first time Katharine of Aragon caught him attempting to cheat on her with one of her ladies at court, she confronted him about it and, angry that she would make his hypocrisy public (he was self-conscious about appearing to be a good and moral king, while wanting to do as he pleased in private), that he dismissed her closest friend from court to punish her for it. He did this a lot -- dismiss his wife's friends, attack her on a personal level, and look for a way to hurt her. By the time of his accident, he had already done everything he could think of to punish and humiliate Katharine for disobeying his wishes, including finding ways to cause her emotional pain.
Immature Fe users lash out at people, look for ways to humiliate them, demean them in public, and get angry for not being agreed with -- and pretty much all of his tantrums revolved around these tactics. Henry had no sense of inner ethics, he was all about how things appeared to other people -- about having his cake (reputation) and eating it too (doing whatever he wanted). If you disobeyed him or did not agree that he was a wonderful, benevolent person, he would find a way to punish you that involved targeting what you love the most -- in a Fe way. He couldn't stand being disagreed with. That's an unhealthy Fe thing to do. Look at his father for unhealthy Te behaviors -- his father went after money, not personal attacks. But Henry could not tolerate anyone disagreeing with him and would target the emotions of the people who did.
I think he was an ESTP 7w8/738 so/sx, and not a Fi user. I don't recognize any of his tactics as Te.

Hamilton Enneagram types
I know that this is mainly a TV blog, but I have loved Hamilton ever since it came out and wanted to type the characters since the ‘film’ came out this week 😊
Alexander Hamilton - 3w4 - 1w2 - 7w8
Tumblr media
gif credit
Hamilton is the archetypal 3, he is obsessed with raising his station and finding success. Hamilton works tirelessly and never ‘takes a break’ which causes problems with his loved ones. He is fixated on creating a legacy and does not want to go back to the poverty of which he came from. Hamilton is assertive and takes every opportunity he has to succeed. He advises Burr that you get nothing if you wait for it and encourages him to stand up for his beliefs. Towards the end of the musical, he has lost his son and his career, making him more unhealthy. During this time he is withdrawn, listless and shows little motivation (disintegrating to 9).
Key lyrics:
“Hey yo, I'm just like my country I'm young, scrappy, and hungry. And I'm not throwing away my shot”
“I probably shouldn't brag, but dag, I amaze and astonish”
“Will you relish being a poor man’s wife. Unable to provide for your life?”
“As a kid in the Caribbean I wished for a war. I knew that I was poor. I knew it was the only way to rise up! ... If they tell my story I am either gonna die on the battlefield in glory or rise up!”
Eliza (about Hamilton): “You and your words obsessed with your legacy. Your sentences border on senseless. And you are paranoid in every paragraph how they perceive you”
Aaron Burr - 9w1 - 3w2 - 5w6
Tumblr media
gif credit
Burr always keeps his stances on different issues ‘close to his chest’ because he doesn’t want to say something that can be used against him. He does have values and feelings, he just isn’t open with his feelings and doesn’t say anything to keep the peace. In the later part of the play, Burr begins to show his ambition more openly and begins to campaign for president. He starts to take more initiative and tries to be more like Hamilton and take what he wants rather than ‘waiting for it’. As Burr gets into the lower levels of health, he becomes paranoid like a 6 as we can see in “The Room Where It Happens.” When Hamilton supports Jefferson for the presidency, Burr becomes vengeful and challenges Hamilton to a duel. He does not understand why Hamilton would support his enemy over his friend, when all Burr is trying to do is take Hamilton’s advice. Burr is ultimately very jealous of Hamilton, as he believes that Hamilton gets everything he wants by taking it. Burr’s style of lying in wait directly contrasts Hamilton’s more assertive nature and deep down he wishes he was more like Hamilton.
Key Lyrics:
“I'm not standing still, I am lying in wait”
“Talk less. Smile more. Don’t let them know what you’re against or what you’re for”
“What is it like in his shoes? Hamilton doesn't hesitate. He exhibits no restraint. He takes and he takes and he takes and he keeps winning anyway.”
“I’ll keep all my plans close to my chest (wait for it, wait for it). I’ll wait here and see which way the wind will blow. I’m taking my time watching the afterbirth of the nation, watching the tension grow”
“I am slow to anger, but I toe the line as I reckon with the effects of your life on mine”
“I wanna be in the room where it happens”
Eliza Schuyler - 9w1 - 2w1 - 6w7
Tumblr media
gif credit
Eliza is kind-hearted, caring and naive. She is shy, but she is fiercely loyal to her loved ones. She has a tendency to go with the flow and is very easily influenced. Eliza is deeply trusting and tends to take what Hamilton says at face value. It seems that she is naive to Hamilton’s intentions to raise his station and to his later affair. She is helpless when it comes to Hamilton and hangs on his every word. Eliza wants Hamilton to give her more attention and show her more affection. She wants to show him that there is more to life than creating a legacy. Eliza is very forgiving and when their son dies, she shows Hamilton the ultimate compassion by forgiving him. In her later life she becomes more of an activist and speaks out against slavery as well as establishing an orphanage to help children.
Key lyrics:
“I have never been the type to try and grab the spotlight”
“I'm erasing myself from the narrative. Let future historians wonder how Eliza reacted when you broke her heart”
“We don’t need a legacy. We don’t need money. If I could grant you peace of mind. If you could let me inside your heart…”
“I stop wasting time on tears I live another fifty years It’s not enough”
Angelica (about Eliza):  “I know my sister like I know my own mind. You will never find anyone as trusting or as kind”
Angelica (about Eliza): “ If I tell her that I love him she’d be silently resigned. He’d be mine. She would say, “I’m fine”. She’d be lying.”
Company: “Forgiveness. Can you imagine?”
Angelica Schuyler: 6w7 - 1w2 - 2w3
Tumblr media
gif credit
Angelica was very hard to type, we were stuck between 1 and 6 because she is very, very compliant. One of her defining characteristics is her self-sacrificing nature and devotion to her sister. Angelica values duty and tries to do what is right for her family. When she meets Hamilton, she is able to correctly deduce that he wants to be with her because of her family’s social status. Despite feeling an instant attraction to him, she sets him up with Eliza instead because (as the oldest) she has to fulfill her father’s expectations and marry into society. Angelica is also extremely loyal to Eliza and her family, as most of her actions are in service to them. When she returns from London, she reacts aggressively to Hamilton as he betrayed Eliza.
Key Lyrics:
“I’m a girl in a world in which my only job is to marry rich. My father has no sons so I’m the one who has to social climb for one”
“He’s after me cos I’m a Schuyler sister. That elevates his status, I’d have to be naive to set that aside”
“In a letter I received from you two weeks ago I noticed a comma in the middle of a phrase. It changed the meaning. Did you intend this?”
“Some men say that I’m intense or I’m insane. You want a revolution? I want a revelation - so listen to my declaration”
“And when I meet Thomas Jefferson Imma compel him to include women in the sequel”
George Washington - 1w9 - 6w7 - 3w2
Tumblr media
Washington has very strong principles which manifest in his efforts for the revolution. He has a tendency to dwell on his past mistakes and feels deep shame over them. Washington takes Hamilton under his wing and wants to show him the wisdom that he has learned throughout his life. He remains true to his convictions and fights for what he believes in. Washington abdicates his presidency because he knows that it is the right thing for the nation. He understands that for the nation to move forward there needs to be different leaders and viewpoints. Washington wants his address to inform of the wisdom he gained from leading the country and help advise America’s future leaders.
Key lyrics:
“I made every mistake. I felt the shame rise in me and even now I lie awake knowing history has its eyes on me”
“Dying is easy, young man. Living is harder”
“Pick up a pen, start writing. I wanna talk about what I have learned. The hard-won wisdom I have earned”
“Can I be real a second? For just a millisecond? Let down my guard and tell the people how I feel a second? Now I’m the model of a modern major general the venerated Virginian veteran whose men are all lining up, to put me up on a pedestal, writin’ letters to relatives, embellishin’ my elegance and eloquence”

Why the WHO Is a Corrupt, Unhealthy Organization
Story at-a-glance “TrustWHO,” a documentary film produced by Lilian Franck, reveals the clandestine influences that are controlling the World Health Organization, to the peril of public health Bill Gates is WHO’s No. 1 funder, contributing more to WHO’s $4.84 billion biennial budget than any member-state government Pharmaceutical companies previously influenced WHO’s 2009 pandemic declaration; experts later called swine flu a “false pandemic” that was driven by Big Pharma, which then cashed in on the health scare WHO has strong allegiance to China, and its investigation into COVID-19’s origin was a “fake” investigation from the start Even prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, WHO released a statement that it had been in discussions with Facebook to “ensure people can access authoritative information on vaccines and reduce the spread of inaccuracies” WHO’s history clearly illustrates its allegiance to Big Pharma and other industries, including downplaying the health effects caused by the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster and collaborating with opioid giant Purdue Given the strong and ongoing evidence that WHO is heavily conflicted and controlled by industry, its usefulness as a guardian of public health needs to be seriously reevaluated
“TrustWHO,” a documentary film produced by Lilian Franck, reveals the clandestine influences that are controlling the World Health Organization (WHO) — and that have been since the very beginning. Founded in 1948 by 61 member states whose contributions initially financed the organization, WHO was quickly infiltrated by industry. From Big Tobacco to the nuclear industry and pharmaceuticals, industry has historically dictated WHO’s global agenda and continues to do so in the present day, putting profits and power ahead of public health.1Bill Gates Is WHO’s No. 1 Funder In April 2020, Donald Trump suspended U.S. funding to WHO while the administration conducted a review into its “role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus.”2 This clearly propelled the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation into the WHO’s No.1 funder slot. Upon election, President Joe Biden reversed the Trump administration decision, restoring U.S. funding to WHO.3However, Bill Gates is still the No. 1 funder, contributing more to WHO’s $4.84 billion biennial budget4 than any member-state government. As revealed in a preview copy I received of “Vax-Unvax,”5 Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s new book, which will be released in November 2021, “Gates has used his money strategically to infect the international aid agencies with his distorted self-serving priorities. The U.S. historically has been the largest direct donor to WHO.”However, Bill Gates contributes to WHO via multiple avenues, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as well as GAVI, which was founded by the Gates Foundation in partnership with WHO, the World Bank and various vaccine manufacturers. As of 2018, the cumulative contributions from the Gates Foundation and GAVI made Gates the unofficial top sponsor of the WHO, even before the Trump administration’s 2020 move to cut all his support to the organization. And in fact, Gates gives so much that Politico wrote a highly-critical article6 about his undue financial influence over the WHO’s operations in 2017, which Politico said was causing the agency to spend:“… a disproportionate amount of its resources on projects with the measurable outcomes Gates prefers … His sway has NGOs and academics worried. Some health advocates fear that because the Gates Foundation’s money comes from investments in big business, it could serve as a Trojan horse for corporate interests to undermine WHO’s role in setting standards and shaping health policies.”Plus, Gates “also routes funding to WHO through SAGE [Strategic Advisory Group of Experts] and UNICEF and Rotary International bringing his total contributions to over $1 billion,” Kennedy explains in the book, adding that these tax-deductible donations give Gates both leverage and control over international health policy, “which he largely directs to serve the profit interest of his pharma partners.”As noted in the featured film, when it was founded, WHO could decide how to distribute its contributions. Now, 70% of its budget is tied to specific projects, countries or regions, which are dictated by the funders.7 As such, Gates’ priorities are the backbone of WHO, and it wasn’t a coincidence when he said of WHO, “Our priorities, are your priorities.”8“Gates’ vaccine obsession has diverted WHO’s giving from poverty alleviation, nutrition, and clean water to make vaccine uptake its preeminent public health metric. And Gates is not afraid to throw his weight around,” according to Kennedy’s book. “… The sheer magnitude of his foundation’s financial contributions has made Bill Gates an unofficial — albeit unelected — leader of the WHO.” Pharma & WHO Cashing Checks in Previous Pandemics During the 2009 H1N1 (swine flu) pandemic, secret agreements were made between Germany, Great Britain, Italy and France with the pharmaceutical industry before the H1N1 pandemic began, which stated that they would purchase H1N1 flu vaccinations — but only if a pandemic level 6 was declared by WHO.The “TrustWHO” documentary shows how, six weeks before the pandemic was
declared, no one at WHO was worried about the virus, but the media was nonetheless exaggerating the dangers. Then, in the month leading up to the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, WHO changed the official definition of pandemic, removing the severity and high mortality criteria and leaving the definition of a pandemic as "a worldwide epidemic of a disease."9This switch in definition allowed WHO to declare swine flu a pandemic after only 144 people had died from the infection worldwide. In 2010, Dr. Wolfgang Wodarg, then head of health at the Council of Europe, accused pharmaceutical companies of influencing WHO’s pandemic declaration, calling swine flu a “false pandemic” that was driven by Big Pharma, which cashed in on the health scare.10According to Wodarg, the swine flu pandemic was “one of the greatest medicine scandals of the century.”11 In the investigation into WHO and Big Pharma’s falsification of a pandemic, an inquiry stated:12“… in order to promote their patented drugs and vaccines against flu, pharmaceutical companies influenced scientists and official agencies responsible for public health standards to alarm governments worldwide and make them squander tight health resources for inefficient vaccines strategies, and needlessly expose millions of healthy people to the risk of an unknown amount of side effects of insufficiently tested vaccines.”While governments ended up with stockpiles of vaccines they would never use, many of those who received the H1N1 swine flu vaccine suffered from adverse effects including Guillian-Barre syndrome, narcolepsy, cataplexy and other forms of brain damage.1
The Origins Cover-Up
WHO’s investigation into COVID-19’s origin was also a “fake” investigation from the start. China was allowed to hand pick the members of the WHO’s investigative team, which included Peter Daszak, Ph.D., who has close professional ties to the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV).
The inclusion of Dazsak on this team virtually guaranteed the dismissal of the lab-origin theory, and in February 2021, WHO cleared WIV and two other biosafety level 4 laboratories in Wuhan, China, of wrongdoing, saying these labs had nothing to do with the COVID-19 outbreak.14
Only after backlash, including an open letter signed by 26 scientists demanding a full and unrestricted forensic investigation into the pandemic’s origins,15 did WHO enter damage control mode, with Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and 13 other world leaders joining the U.S. government in expressing “frustration with the level of access China granted an international mission to Wuhan.”16
A couple of noteworthy points — Gates handpicked Ghebreyesus as WHO’s director general, not because of his qualifications — Tedros has no medical degree and a background that includes accusations of human rights violations — but due to this loyalty to Gates, again according to Kennedy’s book.
Further, WHO’s allegiance to China was secured years earlier, when China secured WHO votes to ensure its candidates would become director-general. A Sunday Times investigation also revealed that WHO’s independence was severely compromised and its close ties to China allowed COVID-19 to spread in the early days of the pandemic while obfuscating the investigation into its origins. According to the Sunday Times:17
“The WHO leadership prioritized China’s economic interests over halting the spread of the virus when Covid-19 first emerged. China exerted ultimate control over the WHO investigation into the origins of Covid-19, appointing its chosen experts and negotiating a backroom deal to water down the mandate.”
WHO’s China Ties Played ‘Decisive Role’ in Pandemic
On January 28, 2020, four weeks after Taiwan had alerted WHO that a mysterious respiratory illness was spreading in China, WHO had not yet taken action and continued to praise China.
Tedros even praised China for their transparency and said the Chinese president had “shown ‘rare leadership’ and deserved ‘gratitude and respect’ for acting to contain the outbreak at the epicenter,” the Sunday Times reported. “These ‘extraordinary steps’ had prevented further spread of the virus, and this was why, he said, there were only ‘a few cases of human-to-human transmission outside China, which we are monitoring very closely.’”18
Speaking with the Sunday Times, professor Richard Ebright of Rutgers University’s Waksman Institute of Microbiology in New Jersey, said it was this close connection that ultimately steered the course of the pandemic:19
“Not only did it have a role; it has had a decisive role. It was the only motivation. There was no scientific or medical or policy justification for the stance that the WHO took in January and February 2020. That was entirely premised on maintaining satisfactory ties to the Chinese government.
So at every step of the way, the WHO promoted the position that was sought by the Chinese government … the WHO actively resisted and obstructed efforts by other nations to implement effective border controls that could have limited the spread or even contained the spread of the outbreak.
It is impossible for me to believe that the officials in Geneva, who were making those statements, believed those statements accorded with the facts that were available to them at the time the statements were made. It’s hard not to see that the direct origin of that is the support of the Chinese government for Tedros’s election as director-general …
This was a remarkably high return on [China’s] investment with the relatively small sums that were invested in supporting his election. It paid off on a grand scale for the Chinese government.”
WHO Corruption Runs Deep
Even prior to the pandemic, WHO had released a statement that it had been in discussions with Facebook to “ensure people can access authoritative information on vaccines and reduce the spread of inaccuracies.”20 At WHO’s first Global Vaccination Summit, held in Brussels in September 2019, Jason Hirsch, Facebook’s public policy manager, alluded to the censorship and media manipulation that was to come:21
“The first thing that we are doing is reducing the distribution of misinformation about vaccinations and the second thing that we are doing is increasing exposure to credible, authoritative content on vaccinations.”
Rather than putting public health first, such as pushing for safety studies into vaccination, WHO’s history clearly illustrates its allegiance to Big Pharma and other industries. WHO, for instance, has downplayed the health effects caused by the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster, stating that only 50 deaths were directly caused by the incident and “a total of up to 4,000 people could eventually die of radiation exposure” from the disaster.22
WHO signed an agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which is “promoting peaceful use of atomic energy,” in 1959, making it subordinate to the agency in relation to ionizing radiation.
WHO’s response to the Fukushima radiation disaster in 2011 was also criticized, with evidence of a high-level coverup.23 WHO once again downplayed the risks, stating “the predicted risks are low and no observable increases in cancer rates above baseline rates are anticipated.”24
WHO also received more than $1.6 million from opioid giant Purdue from 1999 to 2010 and used industry-supported opioid data to incorporate into its official pro-opioid guidelines. According to the Alliance of Human Research Protection, WHO’s collaboration with Purdue led to expanded opioid use and global addiction.25
Due to its acceptance of private money, a review in the Journal of Integrative Medicine & Therapy went so far as to say the corruption of WHO is the “biggest threat to the world’s public health of our time,” particularly as it relates to WHO’s drug recommendations — including its “list of essential medicines” — which it believes is biased and not reliable.26
Given the strong and ongoing evidence that WHO is heavily conflicted and controlled by industry, its usefulness as a guardian of public health needs to be seriously reevaluated.

Note
I have a character who torture another character with sleep depravation, electroshock, and brutal beating. Said torturer, knows the consequences about what all those things can have on the human body. They are doing it just for the sake of it( can torture be made just for the sake of it?). I hope that the torture doesnt come out as sophisticate just bc the torturer knows some stuff. They are a psychopath with a morbid interest in torture devices, so i guess its only natural to know some stuff
If the character is a ‘psychopath’ loner with a strong interest in torture devices then realistically they are very very unlikely to be in a position where (legally speaking) they can torture.
I’m not saying there are no abusive individuals who fit this description. But I feel like the legal definition of torture is important here because what you’re describing does not sound like a torturer.
For something to be torture, legally speaking, it must be:
Painful
Done by a government employee acting as part of their job (some countries also include international organised crime groups or armed groups controlling territory)
Have one of the following motives:
Punishing the victim or someone else
Terrorising the victim or someone else
Forcing a confession
Attempting to obtain information
So no, legally speaking torture can never be ‘just for the sake of it’. If it doesn’t have one of the above motives then it does not meet the definition.
The kind of person you are describing is the kind of person that government organisations even in regimes that openly torture actively screen out. They see these people as impossible to control and a liability.
The evidence we have strongly suggests that torturers are normal, healthy individuals before they start torturing. It is likely that their mental health problems are a result of torture rather then the other way round.
I also think it’s incredibly unlikely that a character who has an interest in torture devices would actually have a good working knowledge about what torture does to the body.
Yes I realise that I am saying that as someone who clearly has at least a passing interest in torture devices and knows what different tortures do to the body.
Here’s why I think it’s unlikely: the books that talk about historical torture and torture devices are uniformly written by people who have zero knowledge of medicine, psychology, and neurology. They often seem to have no grasp of statistics or the scientific method either.
I say this with some confidence because I have slogged through a lot of them. And while they seemed like convincing sources when I was 13 they now make me grit my teeth and despair of the state of science education globally.
These books are useful for collating historical sources and describing what different cultures did at different times. They are good sources of historical witness statements. They’re good for getting an idea of common vs uncommon torture practices and how practices changed with time.
Scott, bless him, can give you a decent account of what breaking on the wheel looked like. But I would not trust him to give a decent assessment of the ultimate cause of death any more then I’d trust him to perform heart surgery.
The people who write about the history of torture do not tend to read about the psychology, neuroscience or medicine relevant to the subject.
And this feeds into the prevalence of torture apologia. There is a massive lack of cross-disciplinary communication which hampers our ability to tackle apologia in a concerted way.
Unless your character is also interested in medicine and policing and psychology specific to trauma they are extremely unlikely to know anything near the full range of effects.
I get survivors who have access to expert help telling me they hadn’t realised some of the things they experienced were symptoms. And I have yet to meet or read a single historian who knew that beatings cause kidney failure.
It is not natural or normal for a character who is primarily interested in doing these things to know how they work.
This is not information you find by looking for how torture was performed. It’s not even information you find by looking for how survivors heal.
It’s information you wrench out in a hundred pieces over years of reading history, psychology, survivor accounts, medicine, scientific journals and the work of people actively trying to stop torture.
In other words; not the sort of thing a ‘lone wolf’ terrorist type character would think to look for or find.
If I’ve made it look as though coming by this knowledge is easy let me disabuse you of that notion. I can do this because I have spent decades building up this knowledge and because I read very widely. Much of my knowledge has not come directly from my obsession with torture but from reading widely enough to apply ideas from different disciplines to the topic.
Frankly I don’t think anyone looking up torture devices would find any accurate information about torture at all.
I also think that trying to give a character like this so much unusual knowledge is suggesting that torturers (or in this case abusers) are smarter, more ‘competent’ and controlled then they actually are.
People like this do not know the effects of what they’re doing. Half the time they don’t even know the basics beyond ‘this hurts my victim’ and ‘if I do it too long they’ll die’.
They often carry on to the point that disabling injury or death is likely.
This sort of character really misrepresents torturers by propping up the idea that they’re somehow specialists. It is buying in to and backing up the puffed up machismo torturers spout.
This isn’t close to a realistic torturer.
The research we have on torturers is currently lacking but if you want to engage with the subject here are some typical traits:
Development of common psychological symptoms as the character tortures others
Loss of prior skills
Strong connection to a group of torturers who become the character’s entire social circle
Unhealthy competitiveness which turns abuse into a competition
‘Hyper-masculinity’ which equates worth and manhood with violence (not necessarily a feature prior to becoming a torturer but appears constant in torturer-sub-groups across countries and cultures)
Reduced ability to relate to others, lack of insight into their crimes
Often a delusion that torture is effective, even when confronted with constant evidence that it is not
Constant, justifiable, fear that other torturers will turn on them
Arrogant delusions about their own worth and value
Mood swings
Self centred
These people do not look like intelligent lone wolf ‘psychopaths’. They look like anti-social, asshole trauma survivors with awful political opinions.
If you want to write a serial killer-type character there is not necessarily anything wrong with that.
But there are big differences in the way these people operate and the scale of violence to which they are exposed.
One of the torturers Sironi interviewed during her work was involved in the torture and murder of an estimated 13,000 people over a period of about two years. Those are not unusual figures.
Is that really what you’re trying to write? Because if it isn’t then you haven’t grasped the magnitude of what you suggest when you use the word ‘torture’.
If you want to write a torturer who isn’t typical there is not necessarily anything wrong with that.
But if you’re doing that you can not assume your audience knows what is actually typical, and the ways you choose to depart from reality are not necessarily neutral. Think about what the unusual elements you include imply.
And if any part of that implication is the idea that this particular torturer-character is somehow ‘better’, ‘smarter’ or ‘more capable’ then understand that you are supporting the kind of delusions of grandeur that real torturers use to justify their crimes.

A DenNor analysis of sorts
Hello, sweet chirping crickets! I’ve been shipping this ship for literal years now but have never plucked up the courage to actually interact with anyone or anything, so I’ve no idea why I’m doing it now, in the year of our Lord 2019, but hey, it’s never too late to get dragged back into aph hell.
I plan on posting a series of long ass rants that absolutely no one asked for in which I attempt to discuss the dynamics of DenNor and the Nordic characters in general, drawing mainly on Himaruya’s portrayal, historical facts, and my own headcanons, so welcome to the first installation of Stuff Nobody Really Cares About that I Wrote in a Fit of Boredom and Self-indulgence!
Before we start, if anyone’s reading this at all then please bear in mind that this is mostly just IMHO. And since there’s no correct way to ship a pairing (this cannot be stressed enough), my interpretation is just that—my personal interpretation, and it is by no means impartial because there’s definitely a healthy dose of my own preferences in there. Actually, I haven’t got any mutuals to talk to at the moment, so if my interpretation’s terrible, by all means go on and yell at me, I will love you to death for it.
In this post I’m going to rant about Norway’s personality (or his lack of it, thereof; don’t worry I’ll get to it later), with just a tiny segment on Denmark thrown in the mix, because hey, I do need to sleep.
“Anko” and its implications for Norway’s character
So, as most people probably already know, in the Japanese version Norway calls Denmark “anko”. In the Northeastern dialect he speaks, this is something like a diminutive form of “big brother” or “boss” (yes, Norway calls Denmark big brother!). In East Asian cultures, it is commonplace for younger men to address older ones (related or not) by honorifics ranging from super courteous to super casual, such as “aniki” in Japanese, “hyung” in Korean, and “da-ge” or “ge” in Mandarin. “Anko” also falls under this category, although it is still more casual than the more ubiquitous “aniki”. I struggle to convey its exact denotations in English, but all you need to know is that this is an affectionate way of addressing a man older than you.
But here’s a funny thing: Himaruya once stated that Denmark and Norway are “like classmates” (同級生). Now, the Japanese term actually has a somewhat different meaning from the English one; “doukyuusei” does not strictly refer to people who are/were in the same class, but to people who belong in the same school year and therefore, in most cases, share the same age. This actually makes sense, because if we consider history, up until the 14th century or so the three Scandinavian kingdoms developed at much the same pace, so it would be reasonable to assume (despite Himaruya’s being abominably vague on nation mechanism) that the characters are of similar ages as well.
Why, then, does Himaruya have Norway refer to Denmark, who should be about the same age as he is, as “anko”? The thing is, aside from denoting age difference, this sort of honorific can also denote a difference in status. Even if someone is not significantly older than you, you may still refer to them with an honorific if you feel their status is above you or wish to pay them respect in an affectionate way.
So, consider this: Norway does not disrespect or look down on Denmark at all, in fact, he respects him enough to call him something akin to “boss” or “older brother”. Bear in mind that this is Norway we’re talking about, Norway of the onii-chan obsession! There’s no doubt that he sees a great deal of significance in this sort of thing, otherwise he wouldn’t be so bent on having Iceland address him as such. And he calls Denmark “big brother”. Just… just take a minute to let that sink in, will ya.
So this brings us to the main subject of my essay, and that is that Norway, for all his sass, is a bit of a doormat.
Now, before anyone starts yelling at me about how his people are perhaps the most fiercely patriotic out of all the Nordic countries, please let me finish my theory. You don’t get independence after centuries of being a glorified trophy bride and not feel the need to vent all that pent up frustration, after all.
First, if you look at strips such as the Denmark vs. Sweden frozen lake fiasco, you’ll see that Norway basically goes along with anything Denmark does, even when he’s actions are outright harebrained (and, to be fair, they often were). He might nag, and he might throw in a word or two of complaints, but at the end of the day Denmark calls the shots, and Norway seems pretty content to let him do so, even when sometime it’s him who has to bear the consequences of Denmark’s brashness (historically, during the many conflicts between Denmark and Sweden, many of which Denmark initiated, Sweden would often bypass Denmark and invade Norway instead, since its lack of military prowess meant that Norway could be used as leverage to force Denmark into accepting all sorts of outrageous conditions; meanwhile, any sort of military action Denmark engaged in was exceptionally taxing—no pun intended—on Norway due to its small population and frequent food shortages).
Also keep in mind that compared to the strips set in modern times, Norway’s treatment of Denmark was considerably milder in the medieval era. My theory is that his attitude towards Denmark only soured after the chain of events that eventually lead to his independence in the 19th century, buuut that’s an essay for another time! Right now I’d like to discuss a personality trait of Norway’s that fascinates me a lot and directly ties into his tendency to be pushed around: his standoffishness.
This is a character inclined to keep on the sidelines and just watch things unfold, even when said events concern his very own person. He doesn’t seem to give a fig when Denmark and Sweden are fighting to the death—hell, not even when they are fighting over him, something that happened a lot in history.
Now, I can think of two main reasons for this passiveness, the first being that Norway, unlike Denmark, probably knows his own limitations to a degree that I believe must have been painful for him at times (not that he shows it, anyway). Although of course being able to see and communicate with magical creatures could result in one being a little less interested in the mortal realm, I find it unlikely that he was always this disengaged. He was once a Viking, after all, and up until the 13th century his kingdom was arguably the most powerful and expansive in all of Scandinavia.
But then, of course, came the Black Death. Norway’s decline in the late Middle Ages was in fact facilitated by a myriad of factors including civil war, incompetent politicians, and either a shortage or a surplus of kings, but having three quarters of its population decimated by the plague was perhaps the heaviest blow of all, and by the time the Kalmar Union took place the prospects of competing with Denmark or Sweden were pretty bleak.
From there on was what 19th century Norwegian nationalist poet Wergeland dubbed the “four hundred years of night”. Although most modern historians agree that Norway was far from destitute under Danish rule and may even have benefitted considerably from it, in terms of Norway’s development as a character, I reckon it could be said that he was, in fact, shrouded in night. The night in question, however, as opposed to being a symbol of Danish tyranny as Wergeland probably intended it to be, would be more of a metaphor for Norway’s own willingness to “fall asleep”, thereby shutting out a world in which he knew he has no say. In this way, he turned a blind eye on Denmark’s ill-fated endeavors, on Sweden’s budding ambition, on the animosity brewing between his two friends, and probably even on Denmark’s mistreatment of him.
During the Kalmar Union, he must have known that he was the weakest of the three kingdoms, and that it was better to just let things take their course instead of joining the fight for hegemony along with Sweden and Denmark. During the union with Denmark, he knew too that life would be far easier if he just went along with things; after all, he knew Denmark, he knew he was stubborn and that he would stop at nothing to get what he wanted. He also knew that Denmark meant well and that, despite everything, he cared a great deal for his family, as shown in the tax raise strip where Norway tells Denmark that “[it’s OK] because you’re trying your best”.
It’s possible that Norway also derived some degree of consolation from Denmark’s affection, in that even though as nations they stood on uneven ground, as friends and as people he could still trust Denmark to have his best interests at heart. Also, by telling himself that he and Denmark were “in this boat together”, Norway could avoid the sense of relative deprivation that arose from being a nation in an unequal union, and subsequently avoid feeling resentment towards Denmark, whom he’s always cared for and perhaps even looked up to despite everything. His referring to Denmark as “anko” despite being roughly the same age as him can perhaps be interpreted as a sign of this (arguably unwarranted) trust.
So in short, a prolonged sense of powerlessness led Norway to become emotionally detached as a form of defense mechanism, while affection for his childhood friend made him reluctant to put his foot down when Denmark’s arrogance and blind optimism threatened to get out of hand. All this serves to expedite the standoffishness I mentioned earlier that is typical of his character.
Thus, if we accept the theory (note the italics) of Denmark once upon a time being abusive, I personally find it plenty believable that Norway would just, well, lie back and take it. In part because he cares deeply for Denmark and is dependent on him in a bit of an unhealthy way (there’s already a wonderfully insightful post right here on tumblr addressing Norway’s shyness and how his trust in Denmark sometimes manifests as crassness, so I’m not gonna go into that here), and in part because he knows being submissive is the path of least resistance. Taking whatever Denmark the person inflicts on him would still be far more ideal than going to war with or losing the support of Denmark the nation. So yeah, lie back and think of yourself, I guess.
In this regard Norway’s mentality is drastically different from that of Denmark and Sweden’s, which is that one should always fight a losing battle if the alternative is being trod on. He acts more according to strategy, while the other two act more according to pride and passion. The upside is that, being more pragmatic and knowing his limits, he knows better where and how to deploy his strengths; the downside is that he can at times come off as a bit of a pushover.
Incidentally, this is why I find WWII history to be so damn interesting in terms of the Nordic’s characterisations, because we get to see the Viking Trio seemingly go against everything that had until then defined their personalities. To be fair, this is way after all that fucked up shit with the treaties of Fredrikshamn and Kiel, which I consider a major turning point (or mental growth spur, if you will) for all five Nordics, so I reckon it all still kind of makes sense because of the wonderful mechanics of character development? But then again, that’s an essay for another time!
A bit on Denmark
I like to think of Denmark’s behaviour during his youth as the result of a misguided desire to “play house”—out of love for his family (arguably for Norway in particular) he wishes to keep them safe, and what better way to do that than keeping them all under his wing? Sure, I’m ready to believe at least some part of him was fueled by bloodlust and a thirst for power, as is often the case with nations, but in general he simply didn’t know better.
In the mean time, Norway’s docile compliance did nothing to curb this misconception; worst case scenario, it only served to fuel it, make Denmark feel like he really was the leader and that it was his obligation to be in charge for the sake of them both. I consider their relationship in this time period to be quite toxic, even though related strips show them to be closer than ever.
For me, a significant part of Denmark’s character development is him realising that the happiness of his loved ones should not have to depend on him, and that one can be loved without being needed (in terms of DenNor, it’s him learning to love Norway as an equal and not just someone to be protected/coddled).
For Norway it’s the opposite—he learns to regain control over his own life, to stand up for himself and to love Denmark without taking any bullshit from him.

do you have any weightloss tips or ways for better eating habits?
hmmmMMM yes and no. this is a big topic with a lot to cover, but it can be pretty valuable food for thought so please bear with me- breaking things up into sections a bit to make it a bit easier to digest (ha cha cha)
i really dont want to assume anything behind your goals, but there’s some blanket stuff that may be interesting to think about.
let me say off the top
my specialty is fitness and nutrition, but im NOT a doctor, and i dont know you or your health requirements and how your individual unique body works. dont take what i say as gospel, talk to a real doctor if you have serious specific questions, please. i wanna be clear that i speak from a position of thin/fit privilege as well. i have not undergone a weight loss journey of any kind, but i did learn a lot in my recovery from an eating disorder on my way to a healthier lifestyle.
the big one:
Tumblr media
weight loss is not 1:1 equal to becoming more healthy. if you want a healthy mind and a healthy body, you need to get rid of your scale. throw it out, donate it, just never look at those numbers again. they are NOT a surefire indicator of health.
the human body, no matter what, has a minimum weight- your bones and organs and muscles all have weight, not just fat- and this weight can vary pretty hugely from person to person. you have a weight you CANNOT be under in any healthy stretch of the imagination. so, its not practical to think of weight as a score you have to get closer to to be ok. for the most part, you will never have to know what you weigh, and for the most part, youll be happier if you dont.
whats with the obsession with thinness?
Tumblr media
for women, in most of western society, even in most of the world, the beauty industry INTENTIONALLY marginalizes fatness. most clothing that fits a larger body is ‘othered’ into ‘plus size’ sections, modeled by petite girls wearing tons of padding. even the ‘other’ is given unattainable standards.
for everyone, ignorant doctors even buy into the same shit and will overlook any other issue and attribute any and every ailment to the dreaded presence of fat, and even push extremely invasive, unnecessary, and unhealthy surgeries to damage ones body in the pursuit of looking thin.
 now. how does fat work??
Tumblr media
for one thing, someone who is BIG does not necessarily have MORE fat than someone who is SMALL. to reiterate, one does not have more or less fat cells depending on their size, and its usually PRETTY BAD to have these removed, and not equivalent to becoming more healthy.
fat cells are distributed pretty evenly across the body, and, depending on your hormones, in certain areas the cells are more or less likely to expand to retain fat. also depending on whether you’re born producing more estrogen or testosterone, the very shape of these cell chambers can vary (thats why cellulite is a thing, fun fact!) and be more or less likely to want to retain their size.
but most human bodies are going to want to store fat. this, combined with beauty standards, and the availability of cheap processed food in first world countries, combined with many people not having a lot of time to workout, makes for a particularly cruel combo.
ok, so when is fat unhealthy? why?
Tumblr media
cholesterol, basically what you get out of trans fats and such, is bad for your guts. it can get in your hearts and arteries and clog them up. this can happen if you’re thin or fat, but it is often attributed to being overweight.
diabetes, resulting from high blood sugar and a genetic family history that leads to insulin resistance, is attributed to being overweight without a lot of understanding of why. you can still get diabetes if you’re thin.
a larger body size is connected, sometimes, to a higher blood pressure. this isn’t a guarantee, but it can happen simply for the heart having to get more blood around. same goes for more strain on your joints, which can also happen to tall and thin people.
wait so fat isn’t just some kind of toxic chemical that hangs out in your body? it’s just one of many factors in health that isn’t a blanket determination of how healthy you are?
yeah lol
fat can and DOES in fact keep your body insulated and fighting disease!!!
—NOW ON TO ACTUAL aDVICE.—
without question, despite all that, it is VERY GOOD AND IMPORTANT to eat healthy!!!!!!
LETS DIET?
Tumblr media
no! if you aren’t used to a ‘diet’ then know this: they’re permanent. only ever bother with one that you feel confident that you can keep up with for the rest of your life. it’s worse for your body to try and adjust to all kinds of crazy changes than to retain one regular diet.
therefore, as fun and challenging as fad diets may sound, they are never very sustainable, and kind of exist to keep what food you can eat constantly on the forefront of your mind and sell you books. not good!
if it helps, ease into it as slowly as you feel you need to. if you can hang on past 3 months or so, you usually will have an easier time with it.
OK, LET’S ADJUST.
Tumblr media
much better. there isn’t much of a trick to eating healthy. there’s not a shortcut either.
1. drink plenty of water. 64 ounces (about 8 glasses). hydration is key to health. although you can get your water from other sources as well- even soda or soups, try to opt to drink water with your meals and snacks whenever you can.
2. avoid fried foods and too much salt, sugar, or processed foods. whats bad about fried foods is a lot of the oils they use. lots of salt, too. salt absorbs all that water you’ve been trying to take in, and processed sugars are the worst thing for you. go very easy on both. anything processed is going to lack a lot of nutrition, and should be avoided when possible. it’s the body’s equivalent of ‘nothing for something’
3. if your schedule allows it, eat 5 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones. this keeps your metabolism up and helps your body absorb nutrients.
4. don’t do ‘cheat days’. this makes it too easy to break a diet if you view it as a temporary limitation. be mindful every day, but don’t be afraid to treat yourself within moderation- both in frequency and portion size. if you’re feeling spicy, experiment with healthier versions of treats, like chilled fruit with coconut instead of ice cream with sprinkles.
5. naturally, try to make leafy vegetables a huge staple in your diet. in one of the body’s many zany tricks, you gain more vitamins from food you’re enjoying, so dont choke down something you hate. experiment with preparation methods and different kinds until you find some that you like.
6. a good diet is a healthy balance of protein, carbs, and fats. you need all three. nuts and grains and white meat, whole grain breads and rice, and fish, eggs, avocados etc tend to be good sources. lots of fresh foods.
7. generally you are not going to need vitamin supplements unless your doctor instructs you.
and those are the basics!!!
pretty easy, got it!
Tumblr media
once you feel completely at ease in these changes, feel free to start exploring adding exercise to your routine for added health, when you can.
walking is great exercise, and fresh air is healthy. if you like to ride a bike or swim, that’s even better. lifting weights is healthy for everyone, not just body builders, so don’t be afraid to explore that either.
with every exercise, it’s easier and more fun to try and find a support network to do it with, but there are tons of things you can do alone at home!
a regular exercise routine can be almost as valuable to your health as a good diet, so definitely try to experiment with different kinds to see what works for you and what you feel you can comfortably stick by. much like an adjusted mindful diet, it can take some grit to stick by at first!
now, if you pick up a healthy diet and exercise routine, will the shape of your body change?
maybe! maybe a little, maybe a lot! maybe the changes you notice wont even be in the shape of your body, but in how energetic you feel, the shine in your hair, the clarity of your skin, or the strength of your nails. these are problems anyone can have, and changes even thin people may see if they start to eat healthy.
AND THAT’S MY LONG WINDED ANSWER, SORRY!!!
