“Well damn.” 

Jason wrenched his gaze from the mess of red and green spattered across the room, searching for the source of the voice. His head hurt, he wanted his Dad. He wanted Bruce. He… his head hurt. His everything hurt. 

“Honestly, didn’t expect them to find another half-breed. Didn’t think there was another halfa out there…”  

He tore his gaze away from the floor- when had it gotten there- finally finding the other… person? The person giving him an empty smile through some sort of muzzle and missing an entire arm. Well, he couldn’t judge, he’d torn his nails off while digging out of his grave before… this. 

“Hey, kid, don’t sweat it, it’ll grow back,” the man apparently noticed where he was staring, shoulder twitching as he shrugged and more green pouring out. Jason couldn’t stop staring, eyes slipping from the growing pool to the rest of the chains apparently keeping the person on that side of the… room? Cage? Cell? 

“Shit, hey, kid, kid, don’t cry, uh, fuck, shh, kid don’t cry-” the person made a noise, some sort of hum or croon that caused him to relax. To his already brain-damaged confusion. “C’mere, away from the door now, shh…” 

Oh, when had he started to move? It was like he blinked and was stumbling away towards the chained person, practically tripping over a limb before the person managed to catch him. “Ope, oh you’re just a little baby-” a hand, clawed, carefully ran through his hair, tucking him against a rumbling chest that nearly made him tear up again. He wanted Bruce. 

“It’s alright kid, shh, they won’t get you,” the man rumbled, everything about him green to his rapidly closing eyes. Pale skin like a corpse, black scales like rot, hair white like snow, all stained green with blood.  “They’d have to kill me again for that.”

been running around act 2 trying to work out the timeline of what happened back when ketheric was defeated and im still stuck on a few things but i think ive managed to sort out most of it?

isobel dies. she doesn't remember how she died, and if you talk to squire, ketheric's dog, she says that ketheric told her she died the same night as isobel, trying to protect her. but she also doesn't remember how she died/what she was protecting isobel from.

ketheric turns to shar. he and balthazar imprison aylin in the shadowfell and build the gauntlet around that prison. i wasn't super clear on when? this happened, but she's definitely been imprisoned for at least a century, and it would've had to have been not long after he turned to shar otherwise aylin wouldn't have trusted him - i'm pretty sure she said they lured her there by saying someone was in danger? which i doubt she would've trusted if she'd known he'd converted to shar at the time.

ketheric raises an army of dark justiciars in shar's name and rebuilds the fortress in the underdark, which was already in ruin at that point. he plans to lead an assault from moonrise and the underdark.

the harpers and the druids gather in force to stop him.

at the same time, there's a very small selunite resistance in reithwin, lead by the grand mason of the mason's guild. he makes a deal with raphael to wipe out ketheric's forces. raphael sends yurgir and his army via the underdark to wipe out the dark justiciars in the fortress/temple, while ensuring theres still one alive to keep yurgir trapped there. im not entirely sure why raphael offered the mason that deal? he obviously gets the mason's soul, but it seems like a lot in exchange for one soul? yurgir says raphael mentioned 'something about an aasimar', which would've been aylin, but i can't figure out what raphael would've meant by that.

the harpers and druids defeat ketheric. this is where i get a bit confused, because if you ask jaheria about it she says she buried ketheric in the mausoleum herself, and that he was definitely dead. but when he gets attacked in the present day he heals straight away, so im not sure how he was definitely dead if he was already bound to aylin? and if he wasn't dead, it's not like they could've missed that?

im not sure exactly when ketheric was supposed to have been bought back? im assuming it had something to do with balthazar, but again i can't work out if he was actually dead or not. also not sure if he'd just been chilling in moonrise for a century before myrkul offered to bring back isobel in exchange for him becoming myrkuls chosen/joining with the other chosen. isobel probably hasn't been back for that long either by the time jaheria and the harpers arrive at last light in, otherwise ketheric probably would've found another way to try and retrieve her.

in terms of how isobel died, im very suss about the fact that she and squire both don't remember anything about it. it could be just the trauma of dying but i also wouldn't be surprised if their memories were removed, which sharrans definitely know how to do.

A list of some spaces I’ve been reading up on queer history, culture, and politics -- spaces like researchgate are also gold mines if you’re doing more specific research, but the below are easy to navigate if you want to go down rabbit holes, look for sources, gain hitherto unknown perspectives, etc.

A lot of these are very guerilla, a few are more established/have funding -- all of them have stories that have historically been deemed immaterial by colonialist -- and therefore queerphobic -- mainstream societies. I was trying to keep a focus on history, but there’s some question about how we define that -- personal histories? recent histories? histories of media? blog posts that are older than x?

you, like all the other knights, have a uniform- but the rulebook only states that you have to be wearing the armor, not what condition it needs to be in! Foul Legacy has always liked poking at your uniform and scratching away any specks of dirt he finds on its silver surface, mimicking his behavior towards his own armor on yours, and slowly you wonder how he would react to a smaller, slightly more human-shaped version of himself. of course, the Grandmaster wouldn't be happy with you- quite the opposite- but as you said before there's no rule against painting or decorating your armor, as long as you still wear it while on duty. besides, silver can get boring after a while, and you've been a knight for a good few years! you've earned the right to spruce your uniform up a little!

Foul Legacy intently watches your brush move back and forth across the metal, only his wings twitching as he tilts his head back and forth before he blinks back to reality with a small chirp, nudging your shoulder curiously once you pick up the brush. you just smile and hold up the piece you were working on, nodding with pride at the color beside Foul Legacy. he gradually realizes exactly what you're doing, his questioning trills turning into delighted chitters as his fur poofs up in excitement, walking in circles around you and the half-painted armor in an attempt to burn off some energy, or else he will end up violently headbumping you and ruining the careful brushstrokes. he runs off to fetch the other supplies you brought home to make the horns and pointed edges so clearly seen in his armor, nudging them beside you with a happy trill and looking down at you with a sparkling azure eye and a fanged grin

yeah, the Grandmaster's definitely going to give you a lecture, but it'll be SO worth it

Just some more rambling about the possible future of my regular commissions under the cut.

As my laptop got (fixed?) adjusted recently, I've used this opportunity to try out if it can now handle regular commission work. It started to show something's up on the mild rendering process but the lag and laptop heating didn't actually got that bad until a bit further in the full rendering process. Still has a limitation it seems. I'm planning on testing it a second time on a different piece, then I'll decide whether regular commissions will be fully back the next month or not.

I can guarantee you that Bill has that 'FUCK' moment afterwards! Turns out that too many Shenanigans in the interim kind of interrupted his train of thought - and Dipper's a little too clever to be caught by ham-handed or distracted questions.
