some time ago god knows why i set on a journey of reading through gaster tag (with plenty of picking and choosing) and when a fic goes on about sans being depressed and trying to bring him back my mental image meanwhile goes something like this

#well not every time but for shorter ones mostly #gaster #my art #undertale #w.d. gaster #also the reason i had like 50 ao3 tabs open on my phone and funnily enough #the one post that went about people just having tabs open instead of mark for later button actually got me to use it #so now i have only 30 tabs open #also im pretty close to the end of the pages actually. and ive read a couple that i really liked that were pretty far down so id say worth #of course that is not counting the ones that i marked for later and most of those are on the long side #so in that sense im nowhere near the end and maybe at half

How to rewrite a fic

Step one: Decide that your writing has improved drastically since you first started the fic and you need to rewrite everything if you want to continue.

Step two: Make notes of the existing storyline and characters to create a bare bones outline and keep track of where the story was originally heading.

Step three: Decide to date the fic to 2008 and start feverishly researching message boards, blogs, and other forms of social media at the time because the fic you chose to rewrite is only told through media outlets and wasn't that sooooo smart and totally not limiting to the story at all

Step four: Start learning HTML apparently because Ao3 lets you do cool shit and if your fic is supposed to have a 2008 message board then by god it's going to look like a 2008 message board.

Step five: die I guess?

i did find ONE advertisement by nippon tv (in english for some reason) for phone notification banners that is some frankly IMPRESSIVE coding and data work, which was cool but not actually what i was looking for…

but man ... i like research! i found this article about the nippontv producer who PITCHED the hakone ekiden broadcast and also five million articles with a one sentence description of hakone ekiden (including one that incorrectly described it as a race of "around 10" universities lol)

my computer may break soon, it’s decided it doesn’t like to stand upright, it would rather lay on its side, thank you very much. It also has complaints about my nice graphics card, and has a memory leak. Also known as: Gertrude is turning into an old person. Can’t get up, scared of new tech, can’t remember shit. She’s a custom dell and I refuse to upgrade from win 7, so this is on me really, but if I suddenly disappear (again) it’s because I’m building a new Gurtie.

( I’ve been browsing art and a sort of reverse-au came to mind. One where Mika’s the one that made it out alive. Unlike Yuu, revenge isn’t what motivates him; he knows he was solely at fault for his family’s demise. Of course, he would love to be the one to kill Ferid for tricking him, but he’s more focused on why it happened in the first place. He definitely bides his time in school, absorbing all he can about spells, vampires, and such until he’s strong enough to wield Asuramaru (because meeting a demon when he isn’t prepared would absolutely wreck his heart if he was recklessly eager about becoming stronger).

Although he knows the importance of having friends in this world, he mindfully keeps them at arm's length (or so he believes, but it’s nice to rely and be relied on, isn’t it? Even if his demon taunts him about his past, he swears he wouldn’t let the same thing happen again). Because of this, he’s growing more and more suspicious about the higher-ups, wary of the drugs given to them, especially when the seraph experiment starts to directly involve him. He’s weaker than Yuu was, both physically and spiritually, with how often he tries to distance himself. It vexes him to be a burden, but he doesn’t begin his descent into greed for power until he meets the rogue vampire that Yuu had become. )
