Summary: From the day you laid your eyes on Izuku Midoriya you knew you were going to be drawn to him.
From the day you laid your eyes on Izuku Midoriya you knew you were going to be drawn to him. There was something about the way the college student stood in front of you with his arms drawn into himself as if he shrank far enough he would disappear. You couldn’t help but smile softly at him.
The man in front of you was impressive to say the least even though he didn’t look it. He was able to track your group for days without your people even knowing. He documented everything in notebooks he carried with him. You watched as his Adam's apple bobbed the more he stared at you. He was trembling slightly, but his eyes never wavered. They held a fire behind them, one that you couldn’t even begin to describe.
“Midoriya, right?” you asked, folding your hands in front of yourself.
“What do you want with me.”
It wasn’t a question. Part of you grinned at the challenge. You had to give him credit, his voice only shook a small amount. Anybody else wouldn’t have been able to have the courage to do so, much less to you.
Standing up from your chair, you signaled to the guards on either side of the door to stand down when they tried to move closer, weapons raised.
“Do you know who we are?” you asked peering down at the streets below you. All Might was battling a water quirk user. You scowled at the scene before you, it was only a matter of time before he beat them to a pulp.
“I know,” he said slowly in an attempt to keep his voice level, “that you’re an organization dedicated to uprooting false heroes.”
Without turning around you gestured for him to continue. You watched his reflection in the window, he took a deep breath almost willing himself to talk once more.
“You took Endeavor down and made a deal with Stain.”
“Very good,” you clapped, turning back around to face him. He was focused entirely on you. ”Now do you know who I am?”
He didn’t hesitate, “The Woman in Red, heroes and villains alike haven’t been able to catch you. Nobody knows what your quirk is or if you even have one.”
You nodded to yourself, he showed promise. If you could use it to your advantage there would be no way your plan would fail. With his help you could uproot the fakest hero of them all.
“Tell me, what do you think of us Midoriya?”
It took him a couple of seconds to register what you said judging by the way his green eyes were transfixed on the destroyed All Might poster off to the side of the room.
“A reminder,” he jumped at the sound of your voice while his eyes fixed themselves onto you. “All Might isn’t the hero that everybody believes he is,” you watched his eyes widen at your words. Part you assumed it was from shock at the way you said them so carelessly, but there was something else there. It was swimming under the surface almost begging to be unleashed.
Before you could place it, he coughed and straightened his posture. He could’ve looked confident when he stood like that if he didn’t shrink into himself at the last moment. With the proper training he’d stand to his full size without feeling insecure.
“Why am I here?” his voice was softer than before, concealed. It made a vicious smirk cross onto your face. You couldn’t wait to help him unlock his true potential. The thought alone almost had you pouncing on him, but you refrained. You wouldn’t scare him away just yet.
You moved closer to him, allowing your nails to drift across the wood over your desk before using one of them to tilt Midoriya’s face closer to yours. He didn’t pull away.
“Because, Izuku Midoriya,” you refused to leave his gaze, “I want you to join Chimera.”
He gulped at the proximity, “And if I refuse?”
You couldn’t help the breathless laugh that escaped your lips. He was too cute for his own good. You flicked your eyes to his before locking them on his lips.
“Then, I guess I’ll just have to find a way to persuade you,” you emphasized the words by moving closer until your lips brushed against his. You watched as he unconsciously closed his eyes and leaned into it, but before your lips fully touched you turned towards the door.
You didn’t miss the pout that crossed onto his face when you broke away, but he missed the sadistic smile you wore as you gestured for the guards to file out. All you received in return was a nod from them until they headed out the door.
When it was your turn you held the door open, but before leaving you met his gaze one last time.
“I’ll give you two weeks to make a decision, until then I look forward to our next meeting,” you purred and leaned against the open door in a way that rivaled Jessica Rabbit, “Izuku Midoriya.”
After you spoke those final words you left with a laugh while he stood in the dark room wondering what just happened.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“She wants you to join, huh?” Aizawa said from where he was perched on the rooftop. His eyes were scanning below, from the lights of the buildings Midoriya could make out the bags under the man’s eyes. It had to be a late night that was for sure.
Part of Izuku felt guilty pulling the man away from much needed sleep, but being an underground hero he needed allies and the only one with enough experience was Aizawa.
“What should I do?” he asked, moving out of the darkness and closer to the man. He watched the capture scarf blow in the wind slightly while he shivered. It was becoming colder even in Spring, he’d have to get warmer gear.
Out of the corner of his eye Aizawa seemed to notice because a soft smile slid onto his face, “I told you to bundle up problem child, but you never listen.”
Before Midoriya could say anything a jacket was flung his way, he jumbled it until he was able to hold it steady. Peering down his eyes widened with disbelief.
“Are you just going to stand there or put it on?”
He didn’t need to be told twice. Stumbling out a yes, he wrapped the jacket around him and zipped it up. It was sleek, light fitting but also warm. Izuku couldn’t help but sink into the feeling. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d been hugged, but wearing that coat he felt like he received the biggest embrace in the world.
A peaceful silence fell over the two of them while they stared out at the streets below. It was a quiet night, the only sounds were of the cars driving by and an occasional group of friends walking past. Their voices echoed off the buildings and were burned into Izuku’s ears.
He wondered what that was like, having friends. He knew going down the path he was on would be dangerous. He couldn’t have time for them if he was going to save people, especially since there was a chance they could become targets.
Still, he couldn’t help but wonder if his life would’ve been different if he’d had them when he was younger.
“I think,” Aizawa began, causing Izuku to fix his eyes onto his mentor. “That you should do it. You can get into their organization and gain intel, be a double agent of sorts.”
Izuku’s heart stopped. “Me?” he sputtered, “Do you really think I could pull something like that off? Half of the pro heroes have tried to take Chimera down and they’ve come up empty handed everytime! And besides the only reason I followed them was to bring the information to you!
How do you know I won’t end up like the others?”
“I don’t,” came the response. Izuku expected that to be it and for Aizawa to leave, but instead he turned to Midoriya and placed his fist on his protege’s chest, “But if there’s one thing I know it’s that if anybody could take down Chimera it would be you.”
Izuku focused his gaze onto the ground until he felt a hand on his shoulder. Aizawa shot him a look of genuine faith. “She went out of her way to try and recruit you. I doubt she’ll want to hurt you, but keep your guard up.”
With a nod of understanding followed by an “I will”, the man took that as his cue and began to walk towards the edge of the building.
“You don’t have to of course, but if you do, don't try to do everything on your own kid. You’ve got me. And it’s about time you actually started working on the front lines rather than behind the scenes.”
With that he was off, a sigh left Midoriya’s lips. He’d been told time and time again that he wasn’t cut out for field work. Not with college he was juggling as well as the fact that his lack of a quirk was always taken into account. He stared up at the sky, he couldn’t remember when he became like this.
He thought back to the earlier times where he constantly believed he could be a hero. He still believed, but it was subdued. Sad even, but he’d try. If he could take them down it would mean helping more people.
“I wish you were here, mom,” he said to the stars while tears began to slide down his face, “I’m a little lost right now.”
————————————————————————------------------------------
The two weeks seemed to crawl by. Izuku was getting restless. He knew his decision, but he couldn’t find Chimera anywhere. He checked every back alley, store, restaurant that the members usually went in and came up empty handed. Even when he did find the members and tried to follow them shouting wait or slow down it was like they’d disappear at the last second.
After running around for nearly three hours he found a bench next to a nearby park and took a seat. He tossed his head back, attempting to get all of the air he lost back. His clothes stuck to him uncomfortably while his forehead was making his hair stick to it.
They sure can run when they really want to, he thought in between puffs of air. He didn’t know how he’d make it through patrolling, especially now. He dreaded the thought, clutching his side at the reminder. He managed to take Muscular down but not without the villain getting a few hits in. It was worth it though, considering Koda’s smile once he was discharged from the hospital.
Yeah, he thought looking up at the sky with a serene smile. It had been worth it.
After catching his breath, he was about to get up from the bench until a person sat down next to him with a note. They didn’t look at Midoriya, instead they were focused straight ahead. The shades made it difficult to see their eyes, while their hoodie and jeans made them look like an ordinary person.
“An invitation,” the person grumbled out, “Don’t be late.”
Izuku didn’t watch them go, flipping the envelope over he noticed neatly scrawled out cursive. The envelope itself was red with a wax gold stamp. A chimera was in the center while the cursive was in gold. He didn’t open it until he was safe in his apartment.
His breath hitched as he read the words over and over again to make sure he had them right. Once he realized he did, he texted Aizawa on the burner phone they used specifically for underground work and buried his head in his hands.
“What am I getting myself into?”
------------------------------------------------------———————-------------------
The neon lights bathed everybody into an ocean of colors. People were swarmed into the center of the room, dancing and grinding on anybody close to them. The bass caught in Midoryia’s chest as he navigated through the crowd. He glanced around, taking all the strobing lights in. The letter said to meet at The Tavern, but it never specified where.
After bumping into several people and almost being roped into dancing, he finally found the bar. He took a seat and checked his phone as he waited for his nerves to calm down. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d been to one of these. He thought back to freshman year when he first started out he’d gone to a local club to see what it was like only to realize he wasn’t really fond of it.
“Not exactly your scene is it?” a bartender asked, sliding him a drink. Midoriya looked up at the woman with a sheepish smile. She looked to be about his age, her short hair framing her face. Earphones were dangling  from ears. Must be her quirk, Izuku thought with excitement. Her pierced brow was raised as she stared at Midoriya.
“Is it that obvious?”
She hummed for a moment, studying him before she nodded, “Nobody wears a shirt that says ‘Club Shirt’ on it. It’s an interesting pick.”
He flushed slightly and rubbed the back of his neck. He knew he should’ve gone with something different.
“Yeah,” he said trailing off until his eyes landed on the drink.
“I don’t—”
Before he continued the woman stopped him, “It’s on the house, you’re waiting for her aren’t you?”
He was about to ask how she knew when you sat down next to him with a smile, “I see you’ve met Jirou, my most trusted friend.”
Izuku watched as the woman, Jirou’s face turned bright red. He almost thought he heard a don’t mention it before she went off to serve more drinks, leaving him with you.
He was nervous, that much was easy to tell with the way his eyes kept jumping from corner to corner. Poor thing you thought while his leg bounced up and down. Part of you cringed, he felt out of place.
“Do you want to go somewhere else?”
The sound of your voice over the music snapped his attention back to you. Taking his blank stare and furrowed eyebrows as a sign, you huffed out a laugh and repeated yourself. He joined in albeit nervously.
“It’s okay,” he said, stirring his drink with the straw, “You planned to meet here. I don’t want to cause any trouble,” he took a deep breath, “Boss.”
You turned to him with wide eyes before waving him off as you leaned closer to the table, “You don’t have to call me boss you know,” you said nonchalantly, “Not even the guards call me that.”
He couldn’t help but stare at you in awe. How you were able to be so calm in a place like this was beyond him, but it helped him relax. With furrowed brows he focused back on his straw. The ice clanked against the glass, but he couldn’t hear it over the song playing.
“What should I call you then?”
Just like the first time you met, you used one of your fingers to tilt his head up, he could feel your breath mingle with his while his face turned a vibrant shade of red. He silently thanked the lights for making it almost impossible for you to see it. He watched as your eyes clouded over while a sinister smile fell onto your face. It made him feel small underneath it.
Before he could say anything, you leaned in close to his ear.
“I have a couple ideas,” your words sent goosebumps to ripple against his skin while his mouth felt dry. He wanted to know what they were, wanted to ask. What was going on with him?!
He didn’t have much time to dwell once he felt your breath ghost against his neck. It was warm and sent shivers down his spine. He briefly felt the touch of your lips against him, part of him hoped you wouldn’t pull away.
“Please,” he rasped before he could stop himself. Your lips curled into a grin, one of your hands snaked from the table to bury itself in his green hair.
“Let’s get out of here.”
He didn’t need to be told twice.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The cool air of the outside clashed with the warmth from the club. Izuku barely processed your lips meeting only to find that in the next minute he was up against the brick wall behind the club. Your hands tangled themselves into his green curls causing him to whimper against your lips.
“Fuck,” you muttered, pussy clenching at the sound he made. You wanted to hear more, wanted him to scream. You placed your knee in between his legs, he instantly started to grind down on your thigh. He tried to pull away from you, but that only made you hold his curls tighter before letting him go. A string of saliva was all that left the connection until you wiped it away with the back of your sleeve.
Izuku’s face was flushed as he tried to catch his breath. Everything about you was intoxicating, especially the way you looked him up and down like he was your prey. He was still grinding against you, his puffs of air were visible in the night. It wasn’t until you touched his side that he flinched.
You pulled your hand away in concern, but he was quick to shush you with the way his lips latched back onto yours. He could tell you about the wound later, you thought. His lips were soft against yours, when you met for another kiss you opened your mouth. Catching the hint, he opened his mouth enough for you to snake your tongue into his mouth. Judging from the way he was grinding faster against you with broken moans you could tell he was enjoying himself.
You pushed him further into the wall, it was surely digging into his back by now, but he made no sound of pain. You made sure to avoid his waist, instead you grabbed a hold of his belt loops and yanked his lower body into an arch.
“Oh my god,” Midoriya groaned, tossing his head back against the wall. He needed more, you were everywhere, breathing into his neck, sucking and biting the skin there. Weakly he went to push you off.
“No marks-can’t ah-can’t ngh cover them.”
A grin casted onto your face. He was so cute like this, all sprawled out under you just as you knew he’d be. You kissed the skin close to his pressure point before staring directly into Izuku’s eyes. Your lips brushed against each other. His eyelashes fluttered as he went to close the space, but you held his neck with one hand and pressed him back.
“I don’t think so baby,” you whispered. Your voice lower in pitch. You didn’t miss the way his pulse jumped under your fingers. Your eyes widened in shock until you gained back control. This was more interesting than you thought. “Does the little hero like this, hm? You like being helpless?” To emphasize your words, you guided his hips with one hand and ground him against your thigh once more.
A high whine escaped his mouth before he could prevent it. He knew this was wrong, that he should stop this but the way your hand made him dizzy around him and the pressure against his cock caused his mind to become fuzzy. What Aizawa didn’t know didn’t hurt him anyway.
“Please,” he whimpered, meeting your leg. He wanted more--no he needed more. “I’ll do anything, I’ll do anything just please.”
“Such a needy little thing aren’t you?” With a huff you slowly stop moving. Tears sprang into the corners of Midoriya’s eyes as he thrashed in an attempt to bring some of the pleasure back, but you only moved your leg away. Broken no’s spilled from his lips and into the cracks of the brick wall. He’s a mess of babbles and pleas. You wait a second longer until you lick a tear from his face, starting at his chin and stopping just below his cheek bone.
He’s about to thank you when you send him a devilish smirk and drop to your knees in front of him. The sight alone causes him to reach his high. You let him calm down, rubbing his thighs through his jeans. You whisper soft encouragements that he can barely decipher.
Looking up at him you can see that his pupils are still blown wide while his chest is heaving up and down. Under the neon red light he looks perfect. You want to devour him, but you hold back. Soon he’d learn how to get hard just by your words alone, but first you’d have to train him.
It isn’t until he comes down from his high that he realizes what he’s done. Mortification falls over him faster than you thought from the way his face flushes even further. You wished he wasn’t in so many clothes, you could almost bet that the same would be found on his neck leading to his chest.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to, I tried holding it in but-”
Slowly, you rose to your feet and before he could stumble over more excuses you kissed his cheek whispering “Good boy,” into his ear. If Midoriya hadn’t just cum he would’ve from those words alone.
You laughed softly at his body’s reaction before breaking away from him fully. You don’t miss the pout that formed on his face when you stepped away. At first it was cute, but now seeing it after this made something snap. You quickly grabbed him by the jaw and traced your thumb over his bottom lip.
“Such a sweet little mouth, making all those pretty sounds earlier, but I think I have more uses for it rather than just pouting,” you locked onto his wide eyes. “Wouldn’t you say, Midoriya?”
He could only nod against you, completely trapped under your gaze. You had him right where you wanted him. “Well then baby boy,” you said detaching yourself once more. “Get to work.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Midoriya woke up in a cold sweat for the umpteenth time that week. He fell back into the pillow with a groan. It had been weeks since that encounter and he was desperate to do it again. He couldn’t escape the sound of your moans echoing in the night or the way your nails dug into his hair just right to send waves of pleasure zipping down his back. And the way you tasted, he craved feeling you against his tongue, drowning in you.
However now that he was officially part of Chimera after being tested the night after he was able to taste you, it had been pretty standard. There was nothing out of the ordinary, the organization ran just like how any other underground facility would. Midoriya had his own jobs that he had to handle such as keeping track of shipments and making sure nobody was caught. He didn’t have much to report back to Aizawa which caused the older man to worry.
Izuku huffed at the sound of his phone vibrating on the nightstand. Speak of the devil. Why couldn’t the man just leave him alone? He knew what he was doing and what he went there to do. Even if his mind was preoccupied with you, he would still put Chimera down first and besides you weren’t serious about him either.
Without looking at the contact he put the phone up to his ear. “Look Aizawa I’m fine I don’t need you checking up on me every second of every day so please just this once don’t contact me on my day off.”
Izuku expected to hear the gruff voice sigh into the other line and promptly begin telling Izuku why checking in is important because it could mean the difference between life and death which, being an underground hero, the lines tend to blur.
Instead, there was a delayed pause followed by a low whistle, “And he lets you talk to him like that? I’m impressed.”
At the sound of your voice, he instantly shot up from the futon. “Boss, hey um why are you calling?” His blood froze for a second. “I didn’t miss anything, did I?!” He tossed the covers off of him and was about to head to his dresser to change when his foot got caught in the sheets causing him to crash to the ground.
You heard the loud bang on the other line causing you to snort. There was a heavy sound of stomping followed by another brief crash that caused you to look out into the city with a smile. You were reminded in that moment that he was still a college student, so full of life.
“Nope, I was just calling to check in.”
Midoriya scowled on the other end of the phone. “You and Aizawa both. I’m fine if that’s what you’re wondering. I have all my body parts intact and none of them are broken,” he even wiggled his hands and sat back on the futon to swing his feet even though you couldn’t see him. “Thank you very much,” he said dryly.
You hummed, mulling over his response. Ever since he joined he’s been more sure of himself, capable. It was an accepted change, after all he needed to be strong. Especially if your plan was going to work. After all, the stronger they are the more fun to break.
“He and I are alike then. You do realize that there’s a very fine line between life and death, right? People like us have to stick together.”
“How are you both the same person?”
That question alone had you laughing. “I don’t know what you’re talking about Midoriya, but I do have something you can do for me.”
He perked up at that. “What is it?”
“I’ll pick you up, how does noon sound?”
“Yes-” he said all too fast before coughing. “I mean yeah sure, whatever works for you.”
“Good, be sure you’re ready early, I always come on time.”
With that you hung up the phone and spun back to face your office desk. Phase one was complete, now you could move on to phase two. Leaning your head on the desk, you could feel rather than see Jirou’s eyes boring holes into your forehead.
“Why aren’t you worried about Midoriya?”
You cocked you head to the side. “Why would I need to be worried?”
“He’s working with Aizawa.” It wasn’t a question, but it didn’t need to be. You knew Izuku was working with the man for years before he even discovered your group, but that didn’t matter. You thought back to his confidence, how he was able to give orders and stand up for himself now, but still looked at you to make sure he wasn’t speaking out of turn. It caused a fire to burn in the pit of your stomach.
“Rest assured, Midoriya won’t be a problem. After all,” you said interlocking your hands on top of the desk. “I have him wrapped around my finger.”

After your husband Steve retired from the superhero living, life seemed dull in his eyes. You could see that his once vibrant baby blues had lost their sparkle, their joy for life.
Whilst him having more time meant that your relationship thrived, Steve was missing something and you were missing him being truly happy.
It was Sunday and a rule of the Rogers relationship is that Sunday was an "Old School Day".
No technology, no going to the city and no current news or media of any kind.
It took a while to get use to but you soon learned to love it because it meant that you had the whole day with your soulmate, no distractions. But today was different, there was one thing that had taken up your entire focus all day.
A few days prior, you were in line at the supermarket when you spotted a flyer.
DANCE YOURSELF BACK TO THE 40s!
Have you ever wondered what a 40s dance was like?
Well if the answer is yes, get yourself down to the Michaelton Hall this Sunday at 7:30pm
The cashier was a motherly looking woman in her late 60s named Dorothy, her family had owned the supermarket here since the 1920s and being a cashier here was her first job. Twice a week she would come down and "relive her youth" as her husband always jokes.
"I thought that might catch your eye" Dorothy spoke after watching you inspect the flyer. "The old music, the clothes and just that feeling of a simpler time. I'm hoping to convince William to take me but getting him to dress up like a princess is more likely than getting him to dance."
You laugh at the woman's joke but mainly at the idea of William in a frilly dress. William and Dorothy had been married for 52 years but the only time William ever danced with her was on their wedding night, a story that you thought was sad but Dora took it in her stride.
"Well I am thinking that this might be a good way to get Steve out of his funk, even for only a night" You say with a wistful look on your face whilst piling fruit into your shopping bag.
"What a wonderful idea my dear!" Dorothy exclaimed whilst scanning the final item "There is a quaint little vintage store about half a mile out of town, I am sure you'd find a dress to knock Steve's socks off"
Smiling at the woman, you hand her some cash before taking one last look at the flyer "You are like a fairy godmother Dora. Have a lovely day and hopefully see you at the dance".
By the next morning, you were keen to start prepping for the Sunday surprise. Giving your husband a kiss goodbye, you headed off to 'run some errands'.
First stop was buying the tickets, then that left you with finding the perfect 40s dress.
You headed out of town to the vintage store Dorothy mentioned but you were not prepared for how beautiful the shop was. Flowers in corners all over the place, fairy-lights decorated the clothing racks and old pieces of sparkling jewellery was displayed throughout the store.
You could have spent hours in there, it felt like a visual time machine but it seemed luck was on your side. As you strolled further into the store, you noticed a stunning pastel floor-length satin dress with light embellishments near the sleeves. That was exactly what you needed.
Everything was ready. Tickets were bought, dress was found and Steve's old military suit was ready to be worn. All you had to do now was keep it from your husband till Sunday.
Making it to Sunday evening was difficult, you had nearly exposed the plans twice but thankfully Steve believed the excuses you came up with. But now it was time to get ready.
"My love, guess what I found the other day in the attic" You call out to your super-solider husband. "Your old army uniform. Perfect condition as well".
Handing the outfit to Steve, you see his eyes light up with the memories of his time back in the 1940s. Although he looked only slightly older than he did the last time he wore it, it was like looking back in time.
"Wow, I didn't think I would ever see this again." He spoke caressing the material.
"Steve, do you think you could maybe try it on again? I would love to have a glimpse of what use to be the fashion" You asked carefully, trying to make sure he didn't suspect anything else.
A small smile graced his face. "Of course, I probably would have wanted to try it on either way" And with a laugh, he headed upstairs to suit up.
Whilst the super-solider was getting ready, you slipped into your dress and quickly slipped on an oversized shirt which made it look like you were wearing a long skirt and t-shirt. Applying a bit of makeup before double checking that your purse was ready with the tickets, car keys and some other essentials.
Hearing footsteps descend your staircase, you turn around to a fully suited and confident looking Steve Rogers. This man has managed to make you fall more in love every day for the past 6 years but in this moment, he took your breath away.
"You look so handsome. How did I ever get lucky enough to call you my husband?" You express as you reach up to lay the corner of his collar down. Even though you compliment your husband all the time, Steve still flushes a bit red at the sweet words.
Leaning in to give him a small kiss, you suddenly remember that you are on a time constraint. You pull back with a mischievous grin dancing on your face.
"Oh no, I know that face. What have you done?" Steve asks with a little chuckle. Instead of responding, you grab his hand and head out to the car. After instructing him to get into the passenger seat, you settle yourself in the driver's seat and start the car whilst Steve sits beside you watching like he was trying to solve a puzzle - the puzzle being you.
"I have a surprise for you but I am going to need you to put this blindfold on whilst I drive us there" With a grin on your face and your hand offering a silk blue blindfold to your incredibly confused but handsome husband.
Cautiously Steve reaches for the blindfold and puts it on, he would trust you with his life so why not trust you with a small surprise.
After driving for 15 minutes or so, Steve feels the car stop and turn off.
"Wait one second" You say before he hears you open your door.
Bubbling with excitement you quickly discard of your t-shirt, place some kitten heels on and apply a sultry shade of red on your lips before throwing anything you don't need in the trunk.
Walking over to Steve's side of the car, you calm your nerves slightly with a deep breathe. Opening the passenger door, you take a hold of Steve's hand and carefully guide him towards the entrance of the hall.
Sounds of Moonlight Serenade songs fill his ears as he enters, still completely oblivious to his partner's scheme. He notices that it is far warmer in this area and that he can smell a mix of perfume and whiskey.
"Okay baby, when I count to 3, you can take off your blindfold" You finally say.
"1"
"2"
"3"
As Steve removes the silk blocking his vision and is immediately hit with a feeling of nostalgia. The hall looked like something out of his memories; men and women dressed in 40s fashion dancing the night away, a small band playing all the most popular songs from the decade he yearned for, men who reminded him of Bucky trying to pick up girls at the bar.
Steve thought that he was blown away until he saw his Y/N. The person who made life worth living, who made everything seem light again. There they stood, looking like they had just walked off the silver screen from an old movie. Steve never really believed that he could live such a happy life but somewhere along the way, he must have done something right because now he is married to an angel.
Walking up to you, he placed his hands on your waist and looked deep into your eyes. Drowning in Steve's ocean blue eyes was a favourite past-time of yours but this felt more than that.
"I noticed you have been a bit down since you gave up the shield and I couldn't see you frown anymore." You whisper quietly as if you were nervous that this plan wouldn't work.
"I know I say it constantly but I love you, Y/N Rogers. Your kindness, your care, your effortless beauty, you." Steve recited, filling every word with pure love and appreciation. "Sometimes I think that I am no one if I am not Captain America or I don't belong in this world but you. You, Y/N, you made me realise that you are my home, not the past. You are the only one I need in this life-time or any other life-time because you taught me who I am beyond the shield."
Tears start to well up in your eyes as you hang off his every word.
"This dance is amazing but what makes me happy is that I get to spend tonight and every night with my soulmate" Steve takes a step back and extends his hand. "So, may I have this dance my darling?"
Reaching for his hand, you make your way onto the dance floor amongst the other couples. As the song dies down, Stella by Frank Sinatra starts filling the hall with a romantic atmosphere and you feel Steve place his hand on your hip before placing another in your hand. This was truly a night to remember.
As you sway with your husband, you let your eyes wander to the other dancing couples and near the centre of the dance floor, you spot Dorothy and William smiling and swaying like teenagers again.
All you can do is hope that you and Steve will be dancing together when you are old and grey.

Personal Update
Hello there my lovely mutuals, friends and followers!!
It's been too long since I've been around, and I am truly, deeply sorry for that. I've been missing this tumblr and the community very much!
I've been gone for many reasons, but the main one is: a lack of free time of just any kind. Even right now, there are at least four other things I should be doing, but suddenly I just felt such longing for this place that I decided all of that had to wait so I could update all of you on what has been up with me lately <3.
1) As some of you may remember, I said in my last post that one of my cats got ill suddenly. It turned out to be a serious illness with expensive treatment, which left me two weeks doing nothing but looking after my sick cat. He made it through though and I found a way to pay the vet bills, so everything's fine in that department now!
2) University started for me again, in person for the first time since 1 1/2 years and that + work has been absolutely overwhelming. I've basically been out of the house from 8 in the morning till 7 at noon four days a week and studying for hours each day on the remaining three weekdays, it's been crazy. It even got so bad I took two of my classes out of my curriculum to cope. In short: I've been stressed as hell. Jade who?
3) Now to the saddest part: I've definitely fallen completely out of my Bungou Stray Dogs hyperfixation completely. Of course, that's not the only reason I've been around, but definitely one of the two main reasons.
☄. *. ⋆
So what does that mean for the future of this blog?
First off, it means that I will not be writing for Bungou Stray Dogs anymore, at least for now. Should my hyperfixation come back I will definitely do so again as I enjoyed writing for this show and this community heck of a lot. That's why I am also keeping all of the requests I got, the old ones as well as the event requests, just in case. I wish I could write them anyways as some of you send in really great prompts, but there would be no use in forcing myself to do so. I am sincerely sorry for my mutuals who send event requests too, I would've loved to finish those especially <3.
There is a chance I will be writing for other fandoms in the future, but that's just speculation. As far as self-made content goes, I've been thinking that maybe I will upload some of my art. I am aware that people following me are probably not interested in that, so feel free to unfollow me if you wish to! I won't take it personal at all. The art updates will probably also be irregular, so it'll just be something for my own entertainment :).
Else, I will probably be reblogging a bunch of stuff, just like always - but not as BSD-specific anymore.
Last, but not least: I will definitely not be able to be around nearly as much as I was before. But I am not willing to give up this blog and the reason is my second main reason to be on tumblr: the absolutely beautiful friends I made!!!! So friends (including @hanazou, @xo-cuteplosion-xo, @shadyteacup, @pompompurin1028, @requiem626k, @starglow-xx, @atsushiscocksucker, @sirenascales, @moon-mars-ikemen, @perpetuallyc0nfused, @jessbeinme15, @kiyokoxd, @greenshirtimagines, @sonder-paradise, @alittlesimp, @dazsamus, @missrown @infjsnightmare which I have a special need to tag): I will be around from time to time, just to talk to you. I miss you and I want to know what's been happening around here! I hope to talk to you soon. Till then, please take care and remember that I love you all.
PS.: In case anyone is wondering: My current hyperfixation is Star Trek: The Next Generation. Don't ask me how I got from latest anime to 80s sci-fi, I do not know.

"spending my day up at a beach house, eating out to some nice sushi or something and spending the day shopping and eventually relaxing on the beach <333" — JJ
likes and reblogs are very appreciated !!!
Tumblr media
you planned on spending a day with your boyfriend, katsuki. you swung your arms as you waited on the porch of your boyfriends house, watching him slip his shoes on through his open door. once he finished, he grabbed his bag and exited his house, locking the door behind him after shouting a "goodbye" to his mom.
you hopped on one foot excitedly as you linked arms with katsuki, him sending you a cocky grin. "you ready to have the best day ever princess?" he asked, leaning down to place a kiss on your forehead.
"any day with you is the best day ever." you stated and nudged him with your elbow. he rolled his eyes playfully and chuckled. "god, your so cheesy."
you guys arrived at the subway station and took seats next to the window. katsuki wrapped his arm around you and pulled you close to him, moving his hand up to play with your hair. katsuki knew it would be a while till you guys got to your stop, so he let you relax against his figure and even take a small nap.
he made sure to make sure you didnt mess up your light makeup, knowing you'd be upset since you left your makeup at home, or fixing your hair whenever you shifted so it wouldn't get tangled. after almost 2 hours of riding, you felt a light shake of your arm, and slowly sat up.
you went to wipe your face but felt katsukis arms stop you. "don't ruin your makeup princess." he said and you giggled tiredly, still trying to shake off the sleep as he helped you stand. "thanks katsu." you yawned and he dragged you out the subway train so you didn't miss the open doors.
katsuki pulled out a water bottle and handed it to you and you took it, taking small sips. you smiled as you screwed the top back on, placing it in his bag and taking his hand in yours. "my katsu is so caring, huh?" you ask, turning to see your boyfriends slightly pink cheeks.
"yeah, whatever." he mumbled and patted your head, earning a giggle. "you wanna eat first?" he asked as you guys stepped out of the subway station. it was a bit of a walk to the pier, so you guys had small conversation.
you linked your arm with his and looked up at him, "yeah, lets get some, uh.. oh! sushi!" you bounced and shot a big smile at your boyfriend, one he just couldn't refuse. "fine, you crazy woman," he patted your head and shot you a smirk, "my woman." you rolled your eyes and walked closer to your boyfriend, slightly leaning against him.
the sun beat down on you two as you made your way to the pier, eventually arriving. you felt the cool breeze from the ocean, versus the heat from the summer sun, it was refreshing. you two walked down the pier to find a place to eat, one that had sushi of course. "oh, katsu!" you called tugging on your boyfriends arm and pointing to a restaurant.
he turned his head and smiled in the direction of the restaurant. "good eye babe." he held your hand and you two entered the restaurant. after waiting for a waiter to lead you to your table, katsuki shot you a smile. "someone looks mighty happy huh?"
you kicked his leg under the table with a giggle. "of course, who wouldn't when they're with their favorite boy at a sushi restaurant." you stated and reached over to oinch katsukis slightly tinted cheeks. "someones turning red~" you teased and earned a scoff from the ash blonde sitting across from you.
"yeah, whatever woman." he rolled his eyes as the waiter came over to take your orders, and after a few minutes of waiting, your food was served and you two dug in. "hey babe." katsuki caught your attention, looking at you with a sort of blank expression. "hmm, what is it katsu?" you asked as you took a sip of your drink. "i was just thinking, do you want to do a bit of shopping before we go to the beach? theres alot of nice shops on the pier." he said and took a bite of his food.
you smiled and nodded at him, "of course id wanna shop, why? was there something you wanted to get?" you asked, raising a brow at him with a smile. he nodded and took a sip of his drink before replying. "shark tooth necklace." he said with a smirk.
you groaned and rolled your eyes playfully. your eyes kinda hurt from how many times you've done that today. "i should've known." you chuckled out, continuing to eat. he furrowed his brows slightly, watching you with a small frown. "is there something wrong with that." his expression made you almost frown at how upset he looked.
"oh my katsu! i didn't mean it like that!" i nearly shouted, cupping his face and placing a small kiss to his lips. "i just meant that i should've known its something you'd want! its actually really cute." you say and search his face for any change in expression.
hos lips turn up into a playful smiled as he lets out a laugh, "i know shitty woman, i was just messing." your jaw dropped as he took another bite of his food. you sit back and cross your arms glaring at him. "first thing im buying is some boxing gloves."
after your meal, you guys split the bill and head out to explore the shops on the pier. you find a cute little flower shop, some surfboard stands, lots and lots of food places, and a small gift shop. a few other stores too, but those were the ones you guys visited.
katsuki looked around the gift shop for a shark tooth necklace as you toyed with anything that caught your eyes. you found some cute earings, shark week magazines, snacks– you made sure to grab a bag of chips and some gummies –and other stuff.
you were about to pass up the necklace section till something caught your eye. a shark tooth necklace! you made sure to grab it and find katsuki. as you ran up to him, surprising him with a backhug, you held your hand infront of his face, letting the necklace dangle infront of his face.
"wha- babe!" he said and grabbed the necklace, looking at it with an excited smile. he turned to you and kissed you, holding you close by your waist. you were shocked by his sudden action, but when he pulled away you chuckled and smacked his chest with your palm. "damn katsuki, you really wanted it that bad?" you ask.
he chuckles and nodded at you. he lifted his hand and mimicked the way you dangled the necklace, but in his hand was a cute jellyfish plushie. you squeaked and grabbed it, looking down at it with a wide smile. "thought my princess would like this, hmm?" he asked and you hugged him.
after buying your items, plus a bunch of random snacks katsuki grabbed last minute, you two make your way to the beach. the WAAA alk alomg the pier is pretty, seeing the tall trees and shining sun refelecting off the vibrant green grass and the beautiful blue ocean.
once you two arrive at the beach, katsuki sets down his bag and pulls out a large blanket. you stand a bit farther away from your boyfriend and closer to the ocean, watching as kids played in the waves and surfers rode them. you bounced excitedly and waddled over to your boyfriend, watching him set the blanket onto the sand.
"katsu katsu katsu!!" you giggled with excitement as he sat down onto the blanket, anchored down by anything heavy enough to keep it from blowing away, though the wind wasnt too strong luckily. "yeah yeah, put on some sunscreen idiot." he said as he motioned you over. you took a seat on the blanket infront of bakugou, smiling at him as he helped you put on sunscreen.
after you two finished, he put the sunscreen away and grabbed your hand as he stood up. you suggested that you walk along the shore as the sun set, and after spending a while eating and shopping, it was almost time. "cmon! lets go katsuuu!"
he watched you as you dragged him towards the waves, big smile on your face and he swore that your eyes sparkled. he squeezed your hand tightly as he gazed past you at the ocean. you two watched the waves dance and crash and the beautiful pink sky slowly fade into a dark purple hue.
feeling the ocean on your feet, you turned to your boyfriend, met with a gaze, and expression that you aren't quite able to read. "whats that look katsu?" you asked, smiling as he released your hand and wrapped his arm around your waist. "dont worry about it dummy," he joked and you pouted at b b him, "love."
you felt your face heat up and you elbowed him lightly. "im serious katsu, like deadass." you turned to look at the waves. "im deadass too. you know i love you.. i don't get serious like this often so just accept it dummy." he said and lightly flicked your cheek. you smiled up at your ash blonde boyfriend, and jumped up to place a kiss on his cheek.
the sky shifted to a darker blue tone, white specks twinkling in the sky. stars, just like the ones bakugou sees in your eyes. your eyes were his galaxy and your smile was his sun.
as your boyfriend watched the stars twinkle, you watched him, his small smile warming your heart and his eyes twinkling, reflecting the beautiful scatter of dots in the sky.
you two had so much love for each other, so much care and passion. small moments like these may be simple, things considered cliches, but all those cliche stories made sense in that moment. those cliches were true and you were happy to be experiencing these feelings with your love, and he felt lucky to spend them with you too.
"hey katsu." you whispered over the sounds of the waves, but loud enough for him to hear. "yes princess?" he looked down at you.
"i love you. so much."
"i love you too sweetheart."

Gender: Female
Pairing: Peter Parker x reader
Warning: None
Based on a true story. Just wanted to write something relatable for myself lol and anybody else that's gone through what the reader's going through also wtf it's already thanksgiving break? that's wild
Summary: Peter finds out something about his crush that might totally change the game for him
---------------------------------------
Tumblr media
"Dare," Ned said, a smile creeping onto his face as the rest of the bus stared at him.
"Okay," you said, looking around for inspiration. "I dare you to..." You tilted your head to the front with a smirk."-go sniff Mr. Harrington's armpit then come back and tell us how he smells," you said, earning some laughs and a disturbed face from MJ.
Ned shuddered slightly, looking to his friend Peter for support. Peter simply shrugged, barely able to hold in his laughter from the frivolous dare.
The entire back of the bus turned to watch as Ned slowly stood up and made his way to the front seat where Mr. Harrington sat, cursing himself out under his breath the whole way there. "Uh, hi Mr. Harrington!"
"Hey there Ned!," Mr. Harrington greeted, but quickly ran himself into a fit of worries, standing up to check the back of the bus. "Why're you up here? What's wrong?"
"Nothing!," Ned yelled, trying to get him to sit back down. "I just... kinda really want to hear about your wife!" Ned looked back to see the entire bus giving him frantic thumbs up.
"Oh," Mr. Harrington said, sitting back down with a blank look on his face. "Well, did I tell you how she set every piece of clothing I bought her on fire and sent me a video of it?" He leaned over a bit as he reached down his pockets to pull out his phone. "I'll show you."
Panicked disgust transformed Ned's face. '1...2...3!' He sucked in a deep breath before practically plunging himself into his teacher's arm.
"Jesus Christ!," Mr. Harrington yelled in shock at being practically tackled by a kid. "What are you doing Leeds?!"
Ned backed up immediately after, face deep red. "Um, I JUST REMEMBERED THAT I LEFT SOMETHING BACK THERE! BYE-!"
The bus erupted with laughter and applause as Ned sprinted back to the back of the bus, leaving a confused Mr. Harrington behind him.
"He smells like cheap cologne," he coughed, his head still reeling. "Cheap cologne covering up a week of no showering..."
"MJ, truth or dare?," Flash asked after the commotion had died down.
"Truth," MJ mumbled, her eyes never leaving her phone.
Flash leaned over till he was practically halfway in Michelle's seat. "Who are the top five hottest guys in our class? Rank 'em." He tilted his ear towards her, obviously expecting to hear his name first.
In response, MJ simply smirked and brought her free hand up to count it off.
"Nobody, nobody, nobody, nobody, and nobody," MJ answered with a shrug, earning multiple groans from many boys on the bus.
"That's not acceptable!," Ned exclaimed.
Brad nodded. "Yeah give us a real answer, Michelle."
MJ scoffed, scrolling higher on her phone. "That's the answer I gave you. Therefore, it's acceptable."
You grinned, shaking your head at MJ. "Can't argue with that logic," you said with a shrug.
It was hilarious to see the boys and their little egos, desperate to hear that Michelle Jones, of all people, thought they were hot.
"Well what about you, [Y/N]?," Brad asked, directing his attention to you.
You raised your eyebrows as nearly all of the boys in the bus turned to you with desperate or curious faces. "What about me?," you asked with a smirk.
"C'mon, who's your top five?," Ned questioned.
You placed your hands over your cheeks. "What and help you little lost boys' fragile male egos?," she teased. "Yeah, no thanks."
The boys groaned.
Peter looked over the seat to where you were sitting. He watched as you held your head up, satisfied at the frustration you were causing the guys. Could he? Should he? Ya know what, screw it.
"Well then, truth or dare [Y/N]?," he squeaked, his hands already shaking.
Your eyes flickered over to Peter curiously. "Um, dare, Pete."
He breathed in deep, face immediately turning red from seeing the entire bus looking at him. "I dare you to tell everyone your crush!," he rushed out. "A-and don't lie!"
But then everyone turned towards you with questions and assumptions and guilt quickly fell onto Peter's shoulders. He couldn't make you say that to everyone. How would he feel if someone did that to him? "Wait, nah no no nevermind, I was just fooling around you don't actually have to-!"
Flash spoke over him. "Yeah [Y/N], who's the lucky guy?"
Abe laughed. "C'mon, spill."
Peter hecticly turned and sat back down in his seat, Ned quick to turn with him.
"Dude, I can't believe you just said that!," Ned whisper-shouted with a large grin.
"I can't believe I just said that!," Peter repeated in a gasp, frozen and staring at the back of the seat in front of him in horror.
"Why did you ask her that?!"
"Why did I really just ask her that?"
Ned gasped dramatically. "Oh my gosh do you think she'll say you?!"
"Oh my God what if she says me?!," Peter reeled.
"No-one. I've never had a crush."
Peter's eyes went wide before he turned back around onto his knees in his seat.
"Wait, seriously?!"
"B.S.!"
"Total lie!"
"I smell cap."
The other guys were obviously not putting up with that answer.
Ned frowned. "Like foreal? You've never had a crush? Like ever? In your entire life?"
Peter however, was still trying to process what he'd just heard.
"No-one."
No.
One.
It's not like he expected you to like him back- a part of him sort of wished for it but he knew that was unlikely- but no chance? None at all?
Suddenly you'd become the new focus for every boy on the bus.
"Seriously, who was your last crush?," Brad asked.
You stared for a while. "Do celebrities count?"
"No."
"Oh, then no-one."
Flash stood up. "How does that even work? Are you ace or something?," he asked, right before getting smacked in the head by Abe.
"You can't just ask people that stuff, Flash!"
Flash shrugged. "Yeah I know...but like-" he wiggled his eyebrows. "-are you?"
You groaned and laid back in your seat, already growing tired of this little 'interrogation' the boys were having. "No. I like guys, okay? I've seen enough to know that much at least" You shrugged. "I've just never liked any guy I've met before."
Millions of questions roamed through Peter's head.
Were you lying? Did you just have high standards that no one you'd been around had ever met? What was keeping you from liking people?
He wasn't some big hot-shot lady killer. There was no way he could be your first crush. That's just narcissistic to even think about. Peter had grown to become quite content with not being the guy who just reeled in girls.
He peeked back over the bus seat at all of the boys surrounding you, obnoxiously attempting to show themselves off.
Brad lifted his sleeves and flexed his biceps. "[Y/N], I mean, c'mon. Can't resist the gun show, right? This does nothing for you?"
That one made you laugh. "You guys really aren't as attractive as you think you are!"
Peter groaned for what must've been the tenth time that morning. And the worst part? He couldn't even be mad.
"So, like never? Never in your life?," Flash asked.
Betty chimed in as well. "Not even that 'puppy love' phase we all had in middle school?"
You shook your head. "Why are you all so invested in who I haven't liked anyway?"
"Okay okay," Brad said. "So if you were gonna like someone, who would you like?"
MJ bursts out laughing and you rolled your eyes. "That is literally the dumbest question I've ever been asked in my entire life. I just said I've never-"
MJ nudged you and tilted her head to one of the seats furthest from yours. Peter Parker and Ned Leeds were sitting there, Ned watching the commotion intensely while Peter was seemingly knocking his head into the back of the seat in front of him repeatedly. Poor guy.
You knew he had a crush on you. You could at least do him this one little favor.
You grinned. "Peter."
"Peter?!"
'What?!"
"Parker?! Are you serious?"
"Awww."
Peter looked up frantically. "Um.. okay..why?"
"Yeah, that needs an explanation [Y/N]," Flash sneered, suddenly losing interest when his name wasn't called.
You shrugged and looked at the nerdy boy. "I like his rosy cheeks," you laughed before looking back at your phone. "Plus, he minds his own business, unlike other people."
The school bus filled, half with sounds of disinterest and the other half with sounds of amusement.
"Now can we go back to actually playing the game now? Jesus..."
The game of Truth or Dare continued and you couldn't have been more glad that the guys' interrogation was finally over. But then you got a text on your phone.
MJ: look at parker
Looking over you saw Ned shaking the boy as he simply just stared out of the window with a dumb look of glee in his face. "Dude, snap out of it! We still have a competition to go to, where's your brain gone?"
Ned turned to you with a frown. "[Y/N]...I think you broke him."

***********
all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy
On the other side of the bar was a smiling Veronica and half wasted Kenny Omega. “Why don’t we get out of here? It isn’t as fun as this place I know down the street.” Kenny whispered in her ear. They were sitting at two of the stools in the bar, his arm resting over her shoulders. She looked around and saw Nova and Sawyer playing a game of pool with Trent and Chuck Taylor. “They’ll be fine. If they get mad at you just tell them it was my idea.” he stood off his barstool and held his hand out for her to jump off hers. “Where exactly is this place Kenny…” she questioned him as he guided her to the doors of the bar. He smirked and let out a low chuckle, “You’ll see.”
“A STRIP CLUB?” She raised her brow in confusion. Kenny nodded. “I thought this would be a perfect place to…conversate.” His eyes wandered over her as she looked around at the activity going on. “Are you sure you’re just not here to watch half-naked women dance?” She crossed her arms, clearly uninterested. “What? No, no. It’s not like that at all.” He assured her before grasping her hand into his. “I just…”
“KENNY OMEGA?”
“IS THAT YOU BROTHER?”
Veronica and Kenny turned their heads in the direction the voices had come from. Two familiar bald men approached them and pulled Kenny in for a hug. “What the hell are you doing here?” The taller of the two had asked. Kenny searched for words before looking at you, and then back at them. He seemed to be talking with them using his facial expressions, and Veronica was having a hard time understanding. The shorter one-clicked his tongue before turning to her, “You must be Veronica. My name is Karl Anderson, and this is my tag team partner Doc Gallows.” Anderson smiled at her as he stuck his hand out for a handshake. She accepted it before he pulled her into a bone-crushing hug. Over her shoulder, he sent a wink to Kenny making him roll his eyes, and Gallows to punch him lightly on the shoulder. She pulled away from him, knitting her brows in confusion.
“You guys could come over to our table, it’s just us by ourselves.” Doc had offered. Veronica was about to decline until Kenny had beat her to it. She sighed as she pulled out her phone to text Sawyer or Nova, until Kenny came beside her, and took it out of her hand. “Don’t go yet,” He begged, shutting her phone down before putting it in his jeans pocket. “You said you wanted to ‘conversate’ with me, but instead we’re following random men in a club.” She whispered-shouted. “They’re not strangers. I know how they are. They’ll find someone to entertain them within a couple of minutes.” He let her slide into the booth before sitting next to her.
“Where's your guys’ significant others?” Kenny had asked while resting his hand on Veronica’s lap. She looked over at him perplexed. “Oh, they’re back at the hotel with the kids.” Gallows had begun to explain. “So let me get this straight. Both of you have families and instead of being with them…you’re here why?” Veronica couldn’t help but ask. Kenny held back his laughter. Karl and Doc looked at each with a serious expression before bursting out laughing, “You’ve got quite the girl here Omega. Where did you find her?” Gallows asked as he wiped his eyes. Veronica squinted in confusion as a waitress walked over to their table. Her shirt pushed up her chest making Anderson and Gallows straighten up. “Is there anything I could get you guys?” she asked as she looked around the table. “Uhm…no, I think we’re good.” Kenny said blankly not looking directly at her, but trying to get her to leave as fast as possible. “Hey, you’re cute. You got a girlfriend?” She pushed up against the table trying to get his attention. Veronica bit her lip, forcing herself to try not to say anything. “You see…I actually-”
“I’m going to the bathroom.” Veronica slammed her hands on the table before getting up. The waitress moved to the side creating room for her. “Veronica, wait.” Kenny had begun to get up, before she pushed him back down. “Stay. I’ll be back.” She slid past him making him have to hold back his groan from how close she was to him. He kept his eyes on her till she disappeared around the corner to the bathroom. The waitress was still standing at their table batting her eyelashes, and getting closer. Kenny was beginning to get frustrated not just sexually but physically. “Look, I’m not interested. Go find someone else to hump.” He rubbed his hands down his face while she stood with her mouth open. She hid her head and made her way onto the next table.
“Wow, Kenny. Didn’t think you had it in you.” Gallows had spoken. “She was hot. Why didn’t you do anything?” Kenny adjusted himself before leaning back trying to ignore his erection. “Why would you ask such a dumb question, Doc. It’s obvious. He’s got the hots for another girl. Which I understand-” Gallows nodded in agreement. “Couldn’t you tell when she slid past him? He almost let out right there and then.” He joked, making Kenny bite the inside of his mouth. Gallows looked around making sure no one could hear him as he leaned closer to whisper, “Have y'all done it yet?” Kenny’s eyes widened. “N-No. I have only known about her for a week- she’s a coworker for now.” Anderson looked surprised as he glanced at Gallows.
“She’s worth it. Take the risk you brought her here for a reason man. Go for it, or someone else will.” Karl spoke. Kenny nodded, “I’ll be right back.” He slipped out of the booth and made his way next to the area where the bathrooms were.
“Dude, we’re terrible people.” Doc began to laugh, making Karl laugh as well. “We might be bad people, but at least we’re great best friends. We’re helping our boy get some action.”
“That’s not the only reason and you know it.” Gallows chuckled. “Kenny can’t be the only one getting any fun.” Karl shrugged, as they sat back and let their plan unfold.
Veronica had splashed a bit of water on her face before deciding to exit the bathroom. She had stayed there for several minutes looking over herself, and trying to figure out where she knew Gallows and Anderson from - it was at the tip of her tongue, but she couldn’t seem to quite memorize them. She exited the bathroom before someone pulled her into a dark room. She almost screamed until the light was turned on, and saw Kenny. “WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? I THOUGHT YOU WERE ABOUT TO KILL ME?!” She shoved him, making him grab the couch for balance.
“Where did you even drag me to?” She looked around and noticed the way the room was decorated. “Come here.” He ushered his fingers in a forward motion as she slowly walked towards him. He pulled her forward, and brought her into his arms. “I just wanted to make sure that we’re good. What happened out there was nothing. She was nothing. I do want to hang out with you, only you. It’s just us now.” She was a bit shorter than him, so he had to look down. “Veronica,” she hummed in response, making a knot in his stomach begin to form. “Do you trust me?” She looked up and nodded as she felt him begin to get hard up against her. She bit her lip, before connecting her lips to his. He felt around with one hand to find the couch, while the other began to slide down her back, and to her ass. He lightly squeezed her before making her sit on the couch. Kenny disconnected his lips from her making her groan in frustration, “You’re sure right?” He asked panting.
“You talk too damn much.” She pulled him back down letting their hands roam, he started to unzip the back of her (technically his) dress letting it fall down her shoulders. They fell back on the couch still connected as Kenny began to grind his hips into hers. Her hands slid down to find their way to his pants. She unzipped them quickly, attempting to slide them off. “I got it, don't worry.” he mumbled while leaving bites on her neck. She could feel herself turn into a puddle as he teased her entrance. “Take your dress off now,” he ordered, making her pout. She wiggled the dress off letting it hit the floor making Kenny take the rest of his clothes off in a rush. She topped him before being flipped over, and having her hands pinned above her head. She felt him slowly begin to enter her before the door was opened then quickly shut again. She nearly jumped out of her skin until Kenny rammed into her with no warning making her gasp. “I think- oh my god. That feels so good.” She breathed out. In the corner of her eye she saw two shadows watching them , but then she shut them again , because the pleasure was way too good right now. Each stroke made her feel closer and closer, and Kenny as well. About 45 seconds later she began to hear mumbling...
“This is way better than porn hub.”
“It’s like watching a Broadway performance, shit I don’t think I can last that much longer Gallows.”
Kenny pulled out, making Veronica turn to the side and release, making someone curse at the other side of the room. “That was…” Kenny tried to catch his breath, until he saw his two friends with their dicks out leaning on the wall. “WHAT? GALLOWS? ANDERSON?”
“I knew someone else was in here.” Veronica shot up immediately regretting it as she now had the image of them together naked, in her brain. “Oh hey Kenny.” Gallows waved as he zipped his pants back up. Anderson sat next to Veronica before she quickly jumped up. “I thought you guys left? WHY ARE YOU HERE?” Kenny tossed Veronica his shirt before pulling his boxers back on.
“Well when we first came we weren’t looking for that much, but then ran into you, and we just knew the sex between two attractive people is something we couldn’t miss.” Karl smiled as Veronica looked at him with disgust, “You know now that I think about it- we basically had a social distancing orgy.” Gallows chimed in, making Anderson nod.
“Yea…. I’m out.” Veronica picked up her dress and exited the room.
“If the sex is that good all the time, I would never leave my house.” Gallows told Kenny as he looked at his friends with disbelief. “Don’t let someone like her get away because of guys like us. You’re Kenny Omega. Tie that down.” Karl patted Kenny on the back before reaching back to his dick. Kenny quickly turned around, “See you later guys,” and shut the door making his way back outside.
“Are you going to get back home safe?” Kenny asked as they walked down the street back to the bar. “For the hundredth time, yes.” she laughed. Her dress was sloppily back on her body with Kenny’s shirt hanging over. “Oh- here you might need this.” He reached into his back pocket and handed her her cell phone. She reached to grab it before he held it over his head, “You got to get it from up here though.”
She rolled her eyes before she stretched her arm to grab it. When she was inches Kenny grabbed her arm , and connected their lips dropping the phone in her purse. “I’ll see you later, Kenny.” Veronica smirked as she pushed hair out from his face. Kenny waved as she walked to their rental car still sitting in the parking lot.
She turnt the car on and “If You Seek Amy” by Britney Spears blasted on the radio station. She smiled as she looked over at the clock. The time read 2:45 AM in bright red letters. “God … what am I going to tell Sawyer and Nova?”

Warnings- Jealousy
Chapter 2 All In a Long Weekend
Tumblr media
Saturday
That Saturday morning, breakfast had been done a tad earlier than usual, and afterwards, Emma had stayed back in the kitchen, packing a picnic while Keanu oversaw the children as they got ready for the day's beach trip. Matt and Poppy had been raving about their trip to Malibu for the past two weeks, asking every night before bed if they'd still be going. Each time, Emma had assured them that unless it rained, they were certainly going.
"You look excited," an older woman came up beside Emma, setting down some sodas into the cooler, just as Emma continued preparing sandwiches for the container that was set to be packed into the woven basket. She and Zelda, despite the fifteen or so years between them had become fast friends, always eager to help each other out when possible. The older woman was also sometimes keen of giving Emma little snippets of advice that she thought my be helpful; never go into Keanu's office when he had the door shut, don't give the kids ice pops inside and possibly the one that had saved her the most trouble, always check the allergy list that Keanu had stuck to the fridge before making the kids something new.
Beaming absently at her comment, Emma carried on with her task, making cheese and turkey sandwiches; a favorite among Keanu and his kids, "I am, it's been a while since I've been to the beach, and even if I'm still working, it's gonna be fun." Closing up the Tupperware, Emma set it in the basket, moving on to prepping snacks, just as Zelda started on some frozen treats for the sizable cooler. In retrospect, it might have seemed like a lot, but when you were having a day trip with kids, it was best to prepare for anything. "Plus, it'll be nice to spend some time together, just the four of us."
Furrowing her eyebrows in confusion, Zelda paused for a minute, "Five dear," she corrected, a little shocked when Emma didn't understand what she meant.
Certainly, Keanu must have told her!
But really, he hadn't.
Just as Zelda was about to explain though, the sound of the front door opening and shutting, followed by a very loud, and an annoyingly exuberant; "Darling!" After that, it wasn't long before the sound of heels clicking against the floor drew nearer, and out of the long hallway emerged a woman, tall, blonde and just as famous as Keanu.
"Sweet-" Upon seeing the pair, the Miranda Riley, former Victoria Secret model and world famous actress, stopped in her tracks, scrunching her perfectly straight nose as if she'd smelt something terrible, "Oh," her made up face fell, "Its you; Zora and…….the new one."
A little annoyed by her obviously snooty behavior, Emma opened her mouth to speak up, "Actually it's-" Though, when Zelda grabbed her arm, squeezing warningly, she shut up immediately, sealing her lips tightly.
Though, it didn't really seem like any of it greatly affected Miranda, especially when Keanu jogged into the room from the other hall, still bare foot while his worn out t-shirt was soaked at the front, probably from herding the twins into a bath. "Mandy," he grinned, and Emma swore it was stiff and forced. Maybe it was just her imagination though, cause with barely any hesitation, Keanu was taking the woman in his arms, holding her in a more than friendly hug before planting a lengthy kiss on her deep, ruby lips, one of his hands reaching up to cup her face.
The world seemed to slow down as the entire scene unfolded before her; the way he held her, looked at her when they pulled away to speak. A soft, pained gasp seeped past her lips and Emma wasn’t sure what she’d been expecting when Miranda walked into the house, but she did know that the last thing she’d predicted was that it would hurt so much. Her lungs were set ablaze and a similar sensation prickled at her eyes. Rage, betrayal, jealousy, Emma couldn’t tell which it was, but she did know that she wanted to run out of the room and not have to face Keanu for the rest of the day. Hell, maybe even the rest of the month.
Slowly, as if she were just coming up from being submerged in an ice cold bath, Emma brought herself back to the moment, raising her gaze when Keanu sought to introduce them, “Mandy, you remember I told you about Emma, our new nanny.” That was what she was, the nanny; the woman who took care of his kids, nothing more. Even if quieter moments had suggested otherwise. The tension, the long stares and innocent touches that thrilled her nerves, they meant nothing to Keanu. “And Em, this is my girlfriend, Mandy.” Well that didn’t feel like a bullet to the chest at all.
“It’s nice to meet you,” the smile that she plastered on her face was probably the hardest one she’d ever managed, and when Emma offered her hand, it wasn’t difficult to miss the flash of disgust that crossed Miranda’s pale features. Never meet your heroes, they said. For as long as Emma had known herself, Miranda had been an icon in the fashion world, she was well connected, and had set most of the trends that Emma had her friends had desperately wanted to mimic in their teens. It was her, among other inspiring names in the fashion world that had prompted Emma to go to a design institute and not a conventional college. But right then, she might have been happier going back to a time where she’d never crossed paths with Miranda.
Hesitating before offering Emma a toothy, winning grin, Miranda took her hand, shaking quickly over the counter before letting it go again, “Mmm, yes, it's…….nice to meet you too, Emily.”
“Emma,” she corrected, having to bite her tongue so she wouldn’t say anything more. The last thing she’d want was to lose her job after telling off her boss’s out of touch bitch of a girlfriend.
“Right,” Miranda appraised her look, a bright blue sundress, raising an impressed brow, probably only complimenting her to appease Keanu, “Cute dress.”
Before Emma could speak up, Keanu interjected, “She looks lovely doesn’t she? Made it herself,” he didn’t seem remotely aware of the heaviness in the room, or the way Miranda clenched her jaw when another slew of praises for Emma left his lips, “She’s so talented, Poppy is already roping her into making princess dresses for Halloween,” he chuckled, shaking in his head.
After another minute spent gritting her teeth, Miranda sought to change the topic, clearly having had her fill of Keanu’s pride in his nanny, “Where are the little ones anyway? It's nearly ten, we’re going to be late.”
With that, Emma’s head snapped towards Zelda, who'd opted to finish the cooler and snacks in silence, so she wouldn’t have to endure any of the painstaking conversation, “She’s going?” She whispered when Keanu and Miranda weren’t looking, eyes wide and frenzied.
“Yeah,” she nodded, barely looking as Emma when she followed her to the fridge, while Keanu and Miranda spoke, or rather, canoodled in hushed tones, "I feel like I should have told you he has a girlfriend," Zelda paused, just after reaching for a half filled carton of strawberries.
"Ya think?" Emma hissed, glancing backwards at the couple, feeling her heart pinch at how lovey dovey they were. She could have sworn there was something between herself and Keanu. "How hard was it to say 'Hey Em, you know our boss has this girlfriend, and she's like, a total bitch.' What the hell does he even see in her anyway?"
"She's tall and gorgeous?" Zelda shrugged casually, "Look, I don't get it either, but he loves her, they've been together for almost two years and I think she's convinced him to go public by the end of this year." Her face fell at Emma's troubled expression, reaching out to rub her shoulder sympathetically, "I see the way you look at him, and if there's something between you two, then……and I don't mean this harshly at all, maybe you need to back down. Miranda, she's……she's not someone you want to mess with," sighing deeply, Zelda peered over to see if they were being overheard, "She gets what she wants, and right now, she wants Keanu and you don't want to be in her way."
Gritting her teeth, Emma pulled away harshly, "I don't know what the hell you're talking about," she squared her shoulders, "There's nothing between Keanu and I," maybe she was getting more defensive than she needed to be, but Emma didn't care. "I'm gonna go finish getting the twins ready," she announced loudly, stalking out of the room and down the hall, and hopefully, leaving behind whatever she'd started to feel for her boss.
As it turned out, Matt and Poppy had all but put their clothes on over their swimsuits, and they were so excited about going, that they got into their little summery outfits without fuss. Afterwards, tiny feet clad in colorful sandals, they raced each other downstairs, leaving Emma to collect their bags before she headed down.
She was walking towards the stairs, backpacks in hands, really just minding her own business, having just started to calm down after the whole Keanu/Miranda fiasco, when, just as she neared the door of Keanu's home office, she heard it. He was deep in conversation, and had unknowingly left the door just a sliver open, enough for her to catch on to some juicy bits. "I know mom," he sounded exasperated, and when she dared to peek in, Emma found that his back was to her, as he stood facing the window, one hand stuffed into the pocket of his jeans, "But I'm not getting any younger, what do you want me to do? Wait till I'm sixty?" He sighed heavily, shaking his head, "Matt and Poppy need a mother, and Miranda……" he trailed off, listening intently to what his mother had to say. Leaning closer, Emma wished she could be privy to the other end of the call, aching to hear what his mother thought about the succubus that he called a girlfriend. But alas, she'd have to settle for whatever she got.
After a few minutes had passed, Keanu spoke again, turning around, leaving Emma to dash for cover, though still within earshot. For a minute, she held her breath, awaiting the moment where Keanu would poke his head out the door and catch her eavesdropping. But it never came, and instead, he continued, "I think I'm going to do it tomorrow night, we're going to dinner, and the nanny will watch the kids. I have the ring already. I think she might like it."
Ring?
The sirens in Emma's head were going off so loudly that she barely registered his tone, the absence of excitement or joy, things that were usually there when someone was smitten enough to propose. There was too much going on in her head; the irrational fear of never having a chance with Keanu, the more rational fear that Miranda might become her boss too. Tuning out the rest of the conversation, not caring to hear anymore, Emma dragged herself towards the stairs, slinking down towards the kitchen, where she found Zelda entertaining the children.
“Everything okay?” She probed when Emma placed the bags on the counter, next to the cooler and picnic basket, her features still crestfallen.
“Yeah,” she mustered up a smile, inching closer to her friend, her voice dropping an octave, “I think Keanu’s going to propose to Miranda, like tomorrow night.”
“What?” Zelda’s eyes went wide, her jaw hanging slack, and she almost dropped the dishes she had just started putting into the cupboards, “How do you know that, did he tell you?”
“Tell her what?” Speak of the devil. Miranda startled them both, and for a second, Emma was worried that she’d overheard their conversation, though that too was short lived.
“Everyone ready?” Keanu strode into the room, and though Emma wanted to meet his gaze, she restrained herself, not even trying to respond, just going over to gather some of their things, her teary smile faltering when the kids excitedly started following her to the car.
Tumblr media
At some point, Miranda had eased Keanu away from where they’d set up their picnic on the beach, urging him into a walk even though the kids had pleaded with him to stay and help them build sandcastles. Emma had taken his place, helping them with their little construction project, highly aware of how upset Poppy still was. “You okay Pop?”
The girl frowned, using her fragile fingers to sweep some hair out of her face, “I wish daddy would have stayed and built it with us,” she mumbled, dumping another bucket of sand to create segment of the castle, though doing it so harshly that the new section just crumbled, “He always leaves when aunt Mandy comes around.”
“I’m sure that’s not true,” even if she didn’t like Miranda, if she was going to be Matt and Poppy’s step mother, Emma couldn’t go around bad mouthing her to them, “I’m sure he still spends time with you. And aunt Miranda seems really like you two.”
“Not as much as you,” that was Matt, his expression skewed by his dark mane falling over his face, “She’s always telling us to be quiet. And she’s so boring,” he stressed, lurching forward, only half interested in ranting about Miranda, still very invested in their sandcastle, “She almost made dad stop my swimming lessons.”
“What?” That time, it was a struggle to keep her annoyance at bay. Even if it was just one side, even if Matt couldn’t possibly know the entire truth, it was still enough to rile Emma up. How dare she? Matt was the best on his team! Taking a breath, Emma knew it was time to shift the conversation, and cheer the twins up before she said something that she’d regret, “You know what? Why don’t we give this a break? We can go to the water, have a splash war!”
“Yeah!” They jumped up immediately, barely giving Emma a minute to shimmy out of her sundress, revealing her simple, floral bikini before joining them in the water. It didn’t take long to lift their spirits, and before long, Matt and Poppy were teaming up to out splash Emma. Their gleeful giggles were music to her ears and she adored seeing their wide grins. They’d waited almost a month for that trip, they deserved to enjoy as much as they could, even if Miranda was going to take up most of Keanu’s time.
They probably spent hours past noon in the water, and not once did anyone’s smile falter. Emma gave them ice pops, and insisted that they have some water once or twice, though each time, they accepted without fuss, and she couldn’t tell if was the sugar from their snacks, or just how immersed they were in the games, but even when Keanu and Miranda returned near sunset, they didn’t show signs of tire.
“You guys having all the fun without me?” Keanu let go of Miranda’s hand, standing where the water would wash over his feet, pulling the sand back as it receded.
A pang of anger flared inside of her, making Emma want to remind Keanu that he was the one that left, but she suppressed it. A fight wouldn’t solve anything. She was so caught up in being annoyed with Keanu, that she hadn't noticed how dark his gaze had grown when his eyes fell on her, kneeling in the water, rivulets rolling off her tan skin, the top of her bathing suit pressing her breasts together, a generous amount of her cleavage spilling out voluptuously. “Well why don’t you join in?” She made herself laugh, and while Emma was hardly as much of an actor as the two A listers before her, she’d liked to think she managed pretty well.
“Sounds great,” he didn’t even seem to notice Emma’s irritation, bubbling beneath the surface. In a flash, he was pulling off his t-shirt, tossing it to the sand, getting into water wearing just his swim trunks, and as he drew closer, his cheerful tone faltered, probably realizing that being in the water with her wasn’t going to do him any favors, “Do you guys wanna play chicken fight?” Keanu turned to his kids, only to be met with excited nods, “And maybe Mandy wants to play too?” He turned to her, eyes somewhat hopeful, “And we can let Em have a break,” swallowing thickly.
“Oh, I…..” Miranda seemed perfectly out of her element, smoothing a hand over her stylish, white sundress, and then pushing up the dark tinted sunglasses, which formerly guarded crystal green orbs. It took a minute, but eventually, she conjured up a tight grin, “Chicken fight isn’t really my kind of game,” she laughed nonchalantly, “Besides, the water will ruin my hair. You should let Emily play, childish nonsense seems right up her alley.”
Subduing the urge to roll her eyes and fire a few obscenities towards Miranda, Emma took a breath, gazing between Keanu, who’d gone cold, and Miranda who’s wicked mirth was reflected in her defiant smile, “Like I said this morning, it’s just Emma. And that’s fine, I actually love childish nonsense, its way more fun than sitting on the sand like a……” stuck up bitch, “Boring grown up.”
Amused with her half hearted insult, Matt laughed loudly, while Poppy just giggled, already trying to get up on Emma’s shoulders. Fuming, Miranda turned on her heel, stomping off towards the mat, and it wasn’t long before the rest of them had forgotten the almost-spat, getting on with their game.

Monday
As usual, Emma was up early, preparing breakfast for everyone. It was just past seven am, and since Mondays didn’t promise cartoon reruns, the kids weren’t up yet. Instead, Zelda had come in earlier than usual, saying that she wanted to get a head start on the housework, but really just looking to gossip. They were in the kitchen together, preparing for hash browns, eggs and bacon, working over quiet chatter, “So…” Zelda nudged Emma’s shoulder with her own.
“So?” Emma chuckled, nudging her back, the comfy cotton of her robe brushing against the sleeve of Zelda’s shirt. She knew exactly what her friend was seeking, but truthfully, she didn’t know how Keanu’s proposal had gone. All she knew was that they’d left for dinner around seven, leaving her to make something for Matt and Poppy, and hadn’t returned until the twins had fallen asleep and Emma had stolen away to her room.
“So, is the wicked witch of the west coast going to be out new boss or not?” Zelda teased, continuing with helping Emma shred some potatoes.
“Honestly-” Emma cut herself off when Keanu walked in, sans shirt and with low riding sweat pants. His hair was a mess, and his good morning was punctuated by a tired yawn. "Good morning Keanu," both women greeted in unison, sharing a look.
They both wanted to know so badly that the itch was almost physical, but it wasn't like they could simply ask. With their one question would come a dozen more from Keanu. Though, as faith would have it, the truth they were seeking wasn't far behind a still half asleep Mr. Reeves.
"Darling," an all too familiar voice purred, shuffling into the kitchen, her blonde hair held up in a loose ponytail and her elegant frame wrapped up in fine satin. Unlike Keanu, Miranda didn't even bother with pleasantries, going straight over to where he stood at the integrated refrigerator, holding him in a hug from behind, strategically angling her left hand so the large rock on her finger would be on full display.
"Still wanna know?" Emma whispered near Zelda's ear, their heads almost touching.
Scoffing, Zelda seemed caught between a sarcastic smirk and a frown, "Not any more."
And because the world was such a cruel place and open wounds would be pointless without a little salt, Miranda abruptly turned to them. "Ladies! Have you two seen my ring?" Without warning she thrust her hand towards them, making the engagement ring on her finger hard to avoid, "Gorgeous right? Keke loves to spoil me," her words were perfectly gag worthy and Emma was finding it difficult to keep down the half cup of coffee she'd had. It wasn't like she was opposed to love or affection or anything, she'd really liked to think of herself as well adjusted in that way, but during the one weekend she'd spent around Miranda, her affections for Keanu always seemed so dramatic that it was nothing short of an elaborate farce.
Yet, it wasn't like she had much of a choice when it came to going forward and having to endure it. Jobs in the fashion world were hard to come by and freelancing would hardly be enough to cover living expenses. So, alas, she'd have to put up with Miranda for a quite while to come. "Don't worry Emily," Emma hadn't even realized she'd zoned out until Miranda called her by the wrong name, for probably the dozenth time. At her next words, Miranda's voice dropped below what Keanu could hear, and there was a wicked glimmer in her gaze, "You're pretty enough, I'm sure you can trick a man into buying you a nice ring. Might not be as many carats, but you'll manage."
That little quip was definitely pay back for Saturday. Fuming, Emma longed to just let her have it, but she was growing so versed in holding her tongue that she did again, deciding right then and there that as much as she loved the kids, she was wholly willing to take the next sustaining job as long as Miranda was in the picture.

When you awoke, you opened your eyes to see the artistry of your rooms cieling. Everything was oddly bright and you gazed around your room to find your balcony doors wide open to allow the sunlight in. You growled, the sunlight made twice as harsh in your weakend state and brought on a small headache. Your attention shot to the doors that lead into the hallway when they opened, revealing Ieyasu with a bowl of steaming water and stack of towels with some odd container on top. He stood there silent and in shock - you shouldn't be awake yet, it had only been about 4 hours since Nobunaga and his army arrived back with your battered body. The medics at the camp had done what they chould to patch you up, but you had lost so much blood, you were so cold, and your breath had been so weak - he had predicted you would sleep two or three days at least and then be bed ridden for the next couple weeks. You attempted to sit up, but the pain along your side and back kept you from moving too quickly.
"Stupid woman!" Ieyasu moved as quickly as he could without spilling the bowl of hot water. He put it down carefully next to your sleeping mat, along with the towels, "You shouldn't even be awake yet, let alone trying to get up!"
"What's going on?" At that moment Hideyoshi poked his head in, his eyes widening just as Ieyasu's had, "I though you said she would be down for a couple days?!"
"Yeah well, looks like she's up," Ieyasu gently, but firmly tried to push you back down to the mat, which was easy to do in your weakened and drowsy state. "I'll go tell Lord Nobunaga," Hideyoshi nodded before rushing to his masters quarters.
"Hideyoshi," Masamune was exiting the kitchen as Hideyoshi stormed passed, causing him to fumble back behind the rooms threshold so's not to get trampled, before he poked his head out again, "what happened?!"
Hideyoshi didn't bother turning back to look at Masmune, he merely shouted and waved a hand in the air as he continued on his way, "The princess is awake!"
"Already?!" Masamune looked in the direction Hideyoshi had come from before deciding he would see for himself. The one eyed warrior walked with haste to your room, finding the door still open and upon glancing in he saw you - attempting to fight off Ieyasu while he tried to keep you from standing. "Lass, I know you don't like being told what to do, but Ieyasu is the best at what he does, and you should listen to him!" Masamune joined Ieyasu in the room to help him restrain you, but the more you felt bound the more you hurt, and the more your hurt the more you began to panic.
"Get off of me!" You roared, mustering up enough strength to push Ieyasu and Masamune across the room in opposite directions. Ieyasu crashed into the hallway wall and Masamune managed to catch the railing before he could topple over it from the force. The both of them had widely different emotions on their face - Ieyasu felt annoyance more than anything, and next was confusion as to how you managed to throw him across the room; Masamune looked...excited, shocked, and utterly giddy that you were strong enough to almost throw him over the railing, and all while you weren't feeling well.
Masamune straightened his clothes and sauntered back into the room like nothing happened, "The Princess seems to be much better already."
Ieyasu scoffed, "She's no where near better," he briskly made his way back to you and kneeled to meet you at eye level, "Look," he sounded stirn, much like a mother who had enough of a child who refused to behave, "I need to change your bandages and reapply the salve every few hours, or else your injuries could get infected."
"He's just trying to help you, Lass," you hadn't realized Masamune mirror Ieyasu and join you at your side opposite to the blond, till he spoke and placed a hand on your shoulder - to which you flinched and hissed at. He quickly removed his hand and backed away, "Sorry!"
"You idiot!" Ieyasu tried to slap the other man away before he carefully removed the bandaged on your shoulders and 'tsked'. The sutures he closed your wounds with hadn't been opened, thank goodness, but he would have to inform the others to be careful with you. Ieyasu turned to Masamune, who had been watching his work intently, "Can you leave?"
Masamune looked at Ieyasu questioningly, before remembering what the blond had come in for, "Oh, right!" He left the room quickly and closed the door behind him.
Ieyasu rolled his eyes, before turning back to tend to you. When he looked you were glaring at him, "Oh, don't give me that," he opened the case resting in the towles to reveal the sengoku period equivalent of a first aid kit- or a crash box, depends on how dire he thought your condition would be when he got back.
"I was the one who stitched you up, gave you medicine, and re-bandaged you when you got back." Well you couldn't argue with that, and though you still wanted to smack him, you did owe him one now. Ieyasu used a pair of scissors to cut off your old bandages, being careful to peel away the bits that rested over your actual wounds. You looked to see what he was doing when you felt a small tug over your injuries as he removed the gauze. You hadn't realized you had indeed needed a change of bandages till you saw the dark brown stains on the woven material.
Once he had removed the wrap completely, you heard the sound of water being disturbed. Ah, the water has been to clean the area around your wounds. You had though you must have had a fever earlier, or that you were too cold for them to be comfortable with.
"How long was I out?" You broke the silence.
"Hm?' He sounded confused by your wording at first.
"How long was I asleep?"
"Only a few hours, four or five at the most after Lord Nobunaga brought you back," he gently rubbed circles around each of your wounds, the warm water and soothing motions felt nice on your sore skin, "You know, you're handling this very well compared to even our most promising vassals."
You simply shrugged, doing your best to brush off his suspicions, "Guess I'm just resilient."
"Hardly," he scoffes, thinking you were more patting yourself on the back than trying to get the subject over with, "I honestly didn't think you were going to make it when you came back."
Thanks for the vote of confidence, jackass. His voice sounded more snooty than anything to you, like he was just trying to have the last word in this conversation.
You heard the water slosh around in the bowl when he dipped a new towel to clean the wounds on your side, an effort you helped him in by raising your arm slightly to move it out of his way, "Thanks, Ieyasu."
Ieyasu paused and you internally punched your pride in the face before rephrasing, "Thank you, for all this."
The blond continued what he was doing - finishing cleaning around your injuries before he put both the dirty towles back in the bowl and got a dry one to clean off the excess water, "Don't thank me, it's my job, my duty for Azuchi castle and the Oda forces."
You huffed at him being difficult, "Yes, but you didn't have to tend to me yourself, we haven't quite gotten along since I arrived, and I'm sure you have other healers in the castle who you could have passed me off to- but you chose to take care of me yourself. That's why I'm thanking you."
Ieyasu remained silent for a while, finishing drying you off so he could apply some fresh salve, "Your welcome."
Meanwhile, in the hall, Masamune had been standing just outside your door to wait, till he was joined by Nobunaga and Hideyoshi.
"She is awake already?" Masamune whipped around to see his raven haired master standing just behind him. "Yes," Masamune bowed slightly to him, "Ieyasu was very surprised."
Nobunaga attempted to step around Masamune, but he stopped him, "Ieyasu is changing her bandages right now, I'm sure he will let us in when he's done."
"What's this?" Hideyoshi was looking at the wall Ieyasu had made contact with when you threw him. He placed a hand on it and examined the indentation. "Oh," Masamune chuckled a bit, "Ah, you see..." Hideyoshi looked at the one eyed warrior with a raised brow, while Nobunaga held a deadpan expression.
"You see, the princess panicked a bit after she woke up when Ieyasu and I were trying to force her to lay back down," he cleared his throat, "And she short of, uh..." he wasn't sure how to phrase it without it sounding outrageous, so he just came out and said it, "She threw the both of us across the room." He shrugged, "I nearly fell over the edge of the balcony."
Both Hideyoshi and Nobunaga blinked in a dumbfounded manor before turning to look at eachother, "My Lord," Hideyoshi's expression quickly returned to being serious, "She's clearly hiding something."
Nobunaga frowned, "What do you mean?" It was at that moment that Ieyasu opened the doors to your room and took his leave, "You all can go in now, but be careful with her or her stitches will open!" The blond was mostly looking at Masamune as he did tend to be more gun-ho than all the others.
"What happened?!" Was the first thing that left Hideyoshi's mouth as he entered the room. You didn't answer, you simply remained laying down, staring at the ceiling with an irritated expression on your face. "Hideyoshi," Nobunaga reprimanded his right-hand. When the brunette had calmed you turned to look at the three men, watching as Nobunaga took a seat on the pillow Ieyasu had left, while Masamune and Hidayoshi joined him at either side.
"How did this happen," Nobunaga asked calmly.
"I was chased by soldiers who thought I was you," you stated simply. The three of them looked at you expectantly and you sighed deeply, "I fell off my horse and some enemy soldiers thought I was you, so they took the opportunity to try and shoot me. I ran for the woods and used the trees as cover, but they followed me, and kept shooting at me."
That explained how you had so many arrow wounds but, "How did you end up in the forest clearing without your clothes?" Nobunaga was wondering what else they did to you. You thought for a moment, trying to think of a way to explain that wouldn't expose you or make you sound crazy. Hideyoshi spoke up, "Did they do anything...else to you?"
Ah. They were wondering if the men had realized you weren't Nobunaga and had laid hands on you. You looked to the ground to think, before sparing a glance at the three men for a brief second. The three of them were both so stiff, and they didn't show it on their faces but you could feel their anger. The room was thick with tension, "No I-"
"Lass," you'd never seen Masamune look so serious, his tone and the look in his eye almost made your hair stand on end, "What did they do to you?"
"I don't remember," was all you could think of to say. Of course it was a lie, you remembered everything - being chased, getting shot at, hiding in the lake, nearly killing the men who chased you, seeing Nobunaga cut down the enemy commander, and finally waiting in the clearing for help to arrive- but you couldn't tell them that.
The three men looked at eachother with grim expressions, assuming the worst. "It's okay, princess," Hideyoshi placed a hand on your head and patted it, giving you a strained smile, before standing along with Masamune and Nobunaga, "You rest now, Mitsunari will be in to check on you later."
You quietly nodded and watched them leave your room and close the door behind them. You let out a deep breath. That had been intense... With a wince, you slowly propped yourself up on your elbows before carefully sitting up in your sleeping mat. You pat yourself down cautiously - it wouldn't take long for you to heal, especially with how well Ieyasu stitched you up. Thanks to what you were, you healed faster than any normal human. Ieyasu predicted you would wake up in two or three days minimum, you predict you would be back to top condition in two to three days, and it would certainly raise more questions.
Your thoughts were interrupted by the sound of knocking on your cieling and you swiftly wrapped your blanket around you, "Sasuke?"
"Yes, it's me," Sasuke opened the cieling panel and silently slipped out from it, landing gracefully on his feet in a crouching position. "I heard you had been dragged off to war with Nobunaga, and I came to see if you were alright."
You moved your blanket slightly, showing that your upper half was completely wrapped in bandages, "I was chased and shot twenty one times by enemy forces..."
"How did you-"
"They chased me because they thought I was Nobunaga, but once I was under the cover of the forest, I turned, and took refuge in a lake. I was shot when I tried to scare them off."
Sasuke's face held regret, "I apologize. I should have tried to get you out of here the first night."
"Sasuke," he paused in his ramblings when you called his name.
"Nobunaga came looking for me when everything was over. He had a search party comb the fields and the woods- said they weren't going home till I was found." Sasuke said nothing to this, he merely averted his gaze to the ground.
"There is not a doubt in my mind that, if you would have taken me, he would have turned all of Azuchi upsidedown looking for me. And then you would have been caught- or worse. Dead." Sasuke nodded in agreement with your reasoning.
"Why would he take you to battle with him? Does he know what you are?" Sasuke glanced back up at you to look you in the eye.
"No," you chuckled, "He thinks the odds should have been against me the night I saved him at Honno-ji, and yet I dragged," with air quotations, "him out unscathed. He thinks I'm lucky."
"So he thought if he took you with him, he would surely be victorious," Sasuke concluded.
"Yes," you nodded, "Not that he needed me," you waved off the thought, "He was against men who couldn't tell the difference between him and a woman so," you shrugged slightly, the pull from your stitches preventing you from being more dramatic, "I doubt they would have been much of a challenge either way."
"What did you do to them? If you don't mind my asking?" Sasuke looked at you questioningly, though his expression held more concern than anything else.
"Nothing," you raised a brow at him and there was a brief moment of silence, "Like I said earlier, I changed and scared them off. My mother taught me better than to kill and maim humans who don't know any better."
Now both his brows were raised and you shook your head, waving the statement off, "Story for another time, besides, it's not me those men have to worry about right now."
Sasuke took a step closer, "What do you mean?"
"Nobunaga, Masamune, and Hideyoshi were just in here and they asked me about what happened. Sasuke, they found me in the woods injured, bloody, naked, I must have looked like I was near death to them." You breathed, giving him a chance to process what you just said, "And they're wondering if the men did anything else to me other than just shoot me with arrows."
It didn't take long for it to click with Sasuke what may have gone through their minds, "Oh."
"And with them trying to keep up the guise that I'm some kind of royalty?"
"Not to mention that Nobunaga truly believes you are his Lucky Charm-" The pieces were coming together for Sasuke, "Those soldiers just might pay for what they've done with their lives..."
"Yes, which is why I thought it best to just tell them that I couldn't remember anything," you nodded in agreement, "That and I can't just tell them I chased them off by turning into a dragon."
"Right well, do you remember what they looked like? Maybe I could warn them or take them somewhere safe?" Sasuke couldn't see any way this would end well.
"Don't bother," you assured him, "the fight is over, and if they run now it will just raise suspicion."
There was a knock on the door, and you turned to look, "Milady?"
Mitsunari.
"Are you decent?"
By the time you turned around to tell Sasuke to leave, he was already gone and the ceiling panel had been closed. You cleared your throat before replying, "As decent as I can be without moving all too much."
The silver haired man took that as an okay to come in. He was stunned to see you sitting up and wrapped in your blanket, "Milady, should you really be sitting up?" He rushed to your side with worry.
"I'm fine, Mitsunari," you smiled up at him, before looking down to his hand and noticing he brought a tray with two mugs, "Tea?"
"Oh, yes," he carefully placed the tray on the floor before sitting down on the pillow Ieyasu left after tending to you, "It's lavender and chamomile," he wrapped the hot mug in a small rag before handing it off to you, "I thought you may get a bit antsy staying all cooped up in this room, so I was hoping this would calm your nerves."
You smelled the tea, the subtle scent of both herbs wafting into your nose and making you hum. Tea also naturally held a more 'earthy' (for lack of a better word) scent to it that made you feel more relaxed, "Thank you, Mitsunari, your very thoughtful."
He smiled and nodded politely, "Thank you Princess," he wrapped his mug in another rag and brought it up to drink, "Anything to make this trying time easier to bare."
You took a sip, the tea, like any other, tastes predominantly like water with an unidentifiable flavor from the herbs that gave it its color and smell, "Oh this would be wonderful with some honey..."
"Pardon?" Mitsunari hadn't quite caught what you said and raised a brow. You briefly wondered if the people of the Sengoku period ate honey like the people of the future. Did they have the honey stored in jars and bottles? Or did they just eat it straight from the comb?
"Nothing," you dismissed your statement with another smile, "I'm feeling very relaxed already."
"Wonderful!" Mitsunari took another sip of his tea before slowly standing up, leaving the tray for you to place your cup on when you were done with it, "As nice as it would be to sit here with you, Milady, all day- I do have a lot of work to get done." He gave you a sympathetic look.
"It's fine, I'm sure there is much to do after a battle."
"Indeed," he bowed to you before heading to the door, "And If you are feeling up to it later, Lord Nobunaga will be holding a council to discuss and debrief what happened in last nights revolt. Ieyasu suggests against you leaving your room, but as the council will involve no strenuous activity, he admits that it would not be impossible for you to attend." He cleared his throat. That was a mouthful, "Again that is if you are feeling well enough."
You pursed your lips, "I'll think about it."
He nodded again, before opening the sliding doors to leave and closing them behind him. Should you go to the council? You're sure the only reason why they would invite you was because they wanted more information on what happened to you in the woods. Perhaps even descriptions of faces. They couldn't let it get out that rival soldiers managed to get their hands on and hurt a princess from the Oda bloodline. Of course you could just say no and avoid the whole thing, but then they might start a witchhunt for the men. With a sigh you took a sip of tea and placed your hand on your head. Perhaps it was just best you go and straighten things out...to an extent.
Once you finished your tea, you stood from your sleeping mat, making your way over to your closet where you kept all the kimonos you had been gifted. Picking the one with the most simple design and not made of such expensive material, you slid it on like a bathrobe and tied it around your waist before walking over to the open balcony doors to stand outside.
The sun immediately warmed your skin, and it felt good to walk around; had you not had stitches you would have loved to stretch. You leaned forward on to the railing and looked out to the castle grounds below as well as the city. The people walking around and going about their day below, only helped to remind you of your current situation- you had been restricted before, after this, would they even allow you to leave the building? Oh how you wished you could go out for a flight right now. The whether was nice, clear, sunny, and warm with a light breeze.
You hadn't realized you'd closed your eyes till they snapped open from suprise due to a loud resounding knock on your rooms doors. You whipped around, just as they slid open to reveal that snake of a man, Mitsuhide. You raised a brow at him.
"Ah, Princess!" He feigned a sickly sweet voice, "Since your up and about, I assume you're well enough to attend the council."
"Save your attempts at trapping and coaxing me, Mitsuhide," you walked back into your room, closing the balcony doors behind you before approaching the white haired fox, "I've already long decided I'm attending."
"Aren't you going to change into something more presentable?" He smiled mischievously, thinking you had forgotten what you were wearing.
"And risk getting blood on those nice kimonos?" You paused in the doorway to raise a brow mockingly at him, "Heavens no," before continuing on your way to the council room. A chuckle left Mitsuhide's lips as he followed after you, quickly catching up to you to join you at your side, "So what really happened in those woods, hm?"
"Why, Mitsuhide, I never took you as one for gossip," you giggled at his expense, "I thought you were more of the facts and damning evidence type."
You, for the first time since you arrived, saw a suprised look cross his face, "Oh?" And the smile was back, "Whatever gave you that impression?"
"I dunno," you shrugged as you approached the council room, "Perhaps it's the way you're always slithering," you stopped infront of the sliding doors and turned to look at your escort, before taking a step towards him, "slinking," another step towards him till you were but a breath away, "and stalking about."
Mitsuhide was another one that got on your nerves. While Ieyasu just always seemed to look down on you and was outwardly vocal about it, Mitsuhide was actively a threat to your secret, and you won't be found out until your good and ready. "Where I'm from," you tilt you head up to look at his smileless face, "They say- curiosity killed the cat," your eyes drift down to examine him before bringing your gaze back up, "or in this case the snake."
"Careful," you spoke lowly as you slowly brought your hand up to caress the side if his face, brushing your thumb gently along his bottom lip, "not to get skinned alive." You grinned, giving him him a light pat on the cheek, before drawing your hand away, swiftly turning to the sliding doors, opening them, and entering.
Mitsuhide let out a breath he hadn't known he'd been holding after you left him, and he felt the odd need to compose himself eventhough nothing was really out of place. Never, in his years of working for Nobunaga and gathering information had he ever felt so threatened.
"You came alone?" Hideyoshi seemed confused when you entered the council room by yourself, "Where is Mitsuhide?"
You brushed a lock of hair behind your ear and politely smiled, holding your hands together infront of you, "Oh he's just outside the door taking breather. It was a long trek- going to my room and back." With a small nod of your head you continued to take your seat next to Nobunaga, and as if on cue Mitsuhide entered the room and wordlessly took his assigned seat.
"Ah, Mitsuhide," Nobunaga chuckled, "glad you could join us, now we can start with the debriefing."
"Yes my Lord," Mitsunari opened the scroll he had been holding, which held a list of reporters and updates he'd been gathering since you and Nobunaga returned. "New's has traveled fast of your return, as well as the news of having personally handled and quashed last night's revolt with only a fourth of the men." Mitsunari took a breath before continuing, "Our enemies have been relieved of their weapons, armor, and have been banned from practicing any form of combat. They are, from here on out, to be strictly a community of farmers."
Nobunaga nodded along, everything had gone according to plan so far, "Whispers of revolt from other villages have almost completely disappeared."
"Almost?" Nobunaga didn't like that news.
"Ah, yes," Mitsunari cleared his throat, "It seems word has also gotten out that... The Oda clan princess was on the battlefield with you, and," he stuttered slightly, "Uh, that she did not emerge unscathed. That her condition was dire and while most are wishing her a well and swift recovery. And pardon my words, my Lord, I am merely reading the report- others are beginning to questioning our Lords capability to continue to protect them."
"My Lord," Hideyoshi spoke up, trying to utter his next words carefully, "With all due respect, I warned you it was unwise to bring her along."
Nobunaga opened his mouth to answer back before Mitsunari spoke up again, "There is, one other report, my Lord." All attention was brought back to the white and purple clad warlord, "There are reports from the village that participated in the revolt, that they have grown weary of the nearby woods."
Oh boy.
"Some of the ex-vassals are saying they witnessed a beast, in the forest during our battle." Brows rose all around the room, except for yours of course.
"A beast?" Nobunaga mocked, "Well I would think so, the woods are full of all sorts of wild animals. I wouldn't be suprised if a group of them had planned to flank us, only to come face to face with a bear, or a mountain lion-"
"Perhaps a tiger," Masamune chuckled.
"Yes, well," Mitsunari swallowed, "for the villagers sake, the scout asked for descriptions of this 'beast' incase it got too close to town and posed as a threat to their lives in the future."
"And?" Now Mitsuhide's interest had been peaked. He briefly glanced to you before looking back to Mitsunari.
"Only four men who were in the forest that night were able to give descriptions at all." Hidayoshi and Masamune both straightened at Mitsunari's words - the woods were where you had been found, and where you said you were chased.
"They described a serpent-like beast, long and scaled, that towered over the tree tops and walked on four legs. It had antlers like a deer and the face of a demon, could glide through the air. And it also... Breathed. Fire." At the end of Mitsunari's reading Masamune burst out laughing, an unpleased frown rested on Hideyoshi's face, Nobunaga held a smirk, Ieyasu shook his head in disbelief that people would spin such tails, you remained stoic, and Mitsuhide kept his sharp snake eyes on you.
"A dragon?" Masamune reiterated through struggled breathes from his laughing, "They think they saw a dragon?"
"If you don't mind my asking, Princess," you looked at Mitsuhide through the corner of your eye as he spoke, "How many men had chased you into the woods?" He must have heard what happened from Hideyoshi, Masamune, or Nobunaga.
"Four," you answer simply.
"Did you see anything, Milady?" He smiled like a cat who ate the canary.
"Other than the men who nearly killed me? No."
"Really?" He poked and prodded.
"Mitsuhide," Hideyoshi tried to reprimand the informant.
"Yes," you turned and looked at him, "I didn't see a damn thing- I was too busy getting shot, and bleeding out to see anything. Maybe a hallucination or two, but nothing of note. Besides are you really going to believe what these men think they saw when they couldn't even tell the difference between me and your Lord." You giggled at the expense of soldiers who couldn't be there to defend themselves, "Perhaps it was some old toppled tree they saw," you tried to reason with the snake.
"Yes they did leave you in a bad way," you rolled your eyes at him as he didn't seem to be stopping any time soon, "How are you feeling by the way? Ieyasu said your condition was critical when you arrived, yet here you are- up and about, walking, talking, awake."
"Yes, as Masamune said before in private, Ieyasu is the best at what he does," you weren't about to let him corner you, "I guess he's just a miracle worker."
"Mitsuhide what are you trying to prove?" Nobunaga was becoming a bit impatient.
"Even then, most soldiers that come back in the condition you did don't recover this fast if at all, even with Ieyasu as their healer," Mitsuhide glanced at the blond, "Just speaking from experience," before looking back to you.
"This is true," Ieyasu agreed.
"I guess I'm just a fast healer, perhaps my family is gifted," you shrugged, "And speaking of the other vassals," you decided it's best not to entertain Mitsuhide less you share too much information or let your emotions get the best of you. "I was wondering if Ieyasu would allow me to tend to my own wounds." You look to the blond in question with a polite smile on your face, "If I truly am healing at an exceptional rate, I feel it's only fair that you spend the time you are wasting on me, with those who actually need you."
His brows furrowed at your question, "What? Are you crazy?" Now he sounded frustrated with you, "You're sporting some serious injuries, what are you going to do about the wounds on your back?"
"I'll figure something out." To be honest, you thought 24 hours from now, the wounds would be superficial, then they would have another day to close and scar, and then finally all traces would be gone by the end of the day after that.
"Back to the matter at hand," Nobunaga was tired if this meeting getting terribly off track, "If we were able to line up the men of the village we defeated," he turned to look at you, "Would you be able to identify the four who attacked you?"
You turned your gaze away from Ieyasu to give Nobunaga your attention, "I mean, maybe, yeah-"
"Excellent."
"Wait no!" You waved your hands infront of him, "We should just leave them be!"
The others in the room turned to you, gobsmacked, "And let men who assaulted you get away?" Hideyoshi scoffed, "I pegged you as the type who would prefer to get payback for what they've done? You've come after us for far less."
"I know-" you needed to nip this in the bud as soon as you could. If they questioned these men they would say they never saw a woman in the woods, "but I have to live with you all, it's different. And besides, they've obviously been spooked," you looked to the others as if to reason with them, "So spooked that they're conjuring tales of beasts and demons- they aren't going around telling people they got the best if an Oda princess. Maybe we could use these stories to our advantage?" Maybe you should appeal to their more tactical side.
Silence.
"They already think Nobunaga is some type of Demon Diamyo, so why not play the part? Let the people think these rumors of a beast aren't just fiction." You stood before walking behind the Lord you were referring to and placed your hands on his shoulders, crouching behind him so your lips were leveled with his ear, "Imagine if you will."
"Your enemies thinking you actually have a dragon, of all things, at your command now," you swayed to his other ear, "They'd call you a king."
Nobunaga turned to look at you with a cocky smile, "And here I thought Mitsuhide was the only snake in the room."
You snickered shooting a sharp glance at the white-haired warlord, before standing up straight and heading for the council room doors to leave, "Besides, if you silence the men who have only expressed nothing but fear for their safety, what would your people say about you then?" You made sure to drive your point home, by slamming the doors shut behind you.

HEIR OF TALON 2
Warnings: explicit/underage/violence
Summary:
After slaying Elder Wyrm and becoming CEO of Talon Ember works very hard. Slowly changes are creeping in, that threaten her relationships with Garret and Riley, her sense of self and her sanity.
Life at the top
Ember
I woke up with a yelp. The bed sheets and my shirt were rumpled and soaked through with sweat. I reached for a glass of water on the night stand and drank trying to wash away tightness in my throat tasting salt of my tears mingling with contents of the glass. It was just another nightmare I tried to calm myself, but at this point I had little doubt that these were true. As was ensuing weeks of captivity, when Gerard found more and more horrid ways to torment Ember after he learned, that she could heal quickly from injuries that would have killed anybody else. His lord and his men, formed a group around her, torturing her and slowly learning her secrets... Bloodlettings so they could bathe in her blood and become resistant to harm and disease. She has suffered it all without even feeling tempted to shift, because there inside her... a spire, only remaining reality of her happiness, of their destiny. No, she could still salvage him, she would endure and once he was out of her body she would shift and fly them both away to safety, to another world if need be, there was nothing she would not do for him, her little Dante. Her love though betrayed so cruelly have found new anchor and she would preserve.
And then... birth of their child, ten men with swords and kludges awaiting, hitting her, bleeding her and Gerard... he tossed his son into flames right after he nearly ripped him from her body amid her agonizing cries.
Hatred. All consuming, all destroying all mighty. She shifted and ripped them apart limb for limb, the men, the women, the children, anyone within the vicinity of the estate. She had nothing left for humans, the vile, cruel, mindless creatures...
These dreams always filled me with grief and despair. But I was not her. Or was I? Sometimes I was not sure anymore. I would better get up, it was going to be another long day.
Vipers were resisting my changes to the organisation and demanded to be allowed to form their own organization apart from Talon, my bare ass! I tossed my shirt aside and hurried to bathroom where I laid down in the bathtub and turned the water on. As warm water crept higher and higher covering my body I relaxed and garish details of the nightmare started to fade. My thoughts were sharp and clear again. No way I was going to relinquish control of Vipers, I will sooner get them all killed. But how do you do this exactly? The only way is to get them to kill one another and then maybe set the last one up to a surprise date with the Order? This would require some serious diversion though, to make sure they accept the orders and don't figure out the game too soon... Hmm maybe later, as the last instance, for now I would rather regain their obedience. Hot water have filled the tub to the brim and I ceased to think giving up to the utter delight of being submerged in relaxing warmth.

"Autumn and Cobalt are here to see you ma'am" my assistant's Rose voice sounded through intercom. "Let them in" I grunted, not at all happy. After momentary relief in the bath I have developed a nasty headache and painkillers did not really work on dragons. I was not sure if dragons should have headaches, I have not been sick one hour of my entire life before I have become CEO of Talon.
"Hello Firebrand, you look positively awful, what the hell happened to you?" Riley strode to my office and unceremoniously sat on a chair in front of my enormous desk pulling another chair closer and indicating for Autumn to sit next to him. This irritated me, I was the CEO, this was my office and he come without notice and behaved as he owned everything here. "I had a hard night" I said slowly "so this better be important" I gave them a tight smile.
"It's about my egg" Autumn said. "It's in hatchery now, and I don't want my baby to hatch there. I want him to be born free, not to spend his childhood in an isolated facility being drilled by Talon like we did." She talked calmly and was obviously at ease, while her ridiculous request literally made me seething inside. I waited till she was finished and replied. "How do you imagine to hatch a dragon egg and then rear a hatchling, unable to shift for two years and to stay reliably shifted for another ten in the middle of human society?" I asked calmly. "How are you going to feed it until it can shift? How are you going to avoid it being seen?". Autumn stared at me surprised by coldness in my voice.
"Easy Firebrand, this is why we came here. To find alternative solutions for these... challenges" Riley's voice was calm but he was now watching me with slightly narrowed eyes and I could hear him thinking hard. But I could not let Autumn take that egg away. These four eggs was all the organization had left. We've sustained substantial loses when the laboratory exploded, every dragon counted for survival of our race. "We were thinking about it for quite a while actually. There's four eggs that need to be reared. There probably won't be any new for some time now, as Talon's members will no longer be forced to mate and dragons breed extremely rarely on their own volition, being immortal, territorial and such. So we just need to provide these four hatchlings with a place to be in two years. It should not be that difficult..." "Oh you've got it all figured out, don't you!?" I cut him off. I was furious at his shortsighted sentimentality. "And who is going to provide these hatchlings with education and training? Their mothers, who's never set their foot outside of the breeding facility?!" Autumn looked as if I've hit her, but I didn't care. These hatchlings were important for the organization, now that the vessel program was abandoned. If they were raised outside of the organization will any of them wish to serve it? Will they even be suitable for our purposes? "What are you talking about?" Riley was furious now. "They will be instructed and influenced by our entire community. Just because you won't have total control over every moment of their lives, doesn't mean they will not turn out just fine". He took stunned Autumn by her hand and rose to his feet. "Come, we've must have caught ma'am CEO on a bad day." And then to me. "Do not think that you've heard the last of it Firebrand. This is important, this is the freedom we've been fighting for all this time. And I will not relent, just because you get to be the boss now!" He left with scared Autumn in tow leaving me to my headache and grim thoughts.
I pressed intercom button. "Rose? I am taking off the rest of the day. Tell the Archivist to schedule new date for meeting with Vipers" "Yes, ma'am." I dragged myself out of the office and staggered when the heat and sunshine of the day outside hit me. I could not remember being out in a middle of a day. Ruling Talon was consuming all my time and energy and throughout last few months I begun to see the point of the control and discipline within the organization, as dealing with Riley's rouges, Jade and other free spirits was clearly the most annoying part of my new situation. I could not remember the drive home. To a vast top floor apartment furnished by Rose to impress an empress as she has phrased it. I had no time to interfere and only added piles of discarded clothes to the setting. And these were cleared every day by a maid. So I entered my lavish suite kicked off my ballerinas, flopped on white leather sofa and closed my eyes.
***
I woke up with a start that made it clear, that my headache was still there. It was evening and someone was knocking on my door. I insisted on no Gilas in the building I lived in, just as I insisted on living among normal, if wealthy people, rather than in a fancy all Talon apartment complex few blocks from the HQ. Now I was suddenly reluctant to open the doors. "Ember?! Are you in there?" Garret. I sighed and dragged myself to the doors. "Hello commander" I tried to smile. "Come in and fix this shitty day". He did not smile just stepped over the threshold taking in my surely messy hair, crumpled suit and tired face. "What is wrong?" He asked dropping his duffel bag at the doors and pulling me into strong embrace. I closed my eyes breathing him in and feeling my headache and confusion melting away. But after a way too brief moment he pushed himself away to arms length and looked into my eyes. "What is going on Ember? You look so tired. And you missed the meeting today, the Archivist would not tell us anything, but Rose told me you went home feeling unwell so I come to check up on you."He said. "Wait a minute. What meeting?!" I felt an ugly suspicion rising. "Meeting with Vipers." He looked surprised and worried that I would ask. "The Archivist spoke in your name and got them in line, no worries. They are allowed to leave the organization under a long list of conditions, that shortly sums up to not killing, assaulting or terrorizing anyone ever and attending monthly meetings with their rehabilitation supervisors, new units consisting of one Talon employee and one Order's employee. Of course the agreement is only valid after you've approved it. From the looks on their faces no one is leaving for some time." He smiled to his thoughts.
I had plans for Vipers and this was not exactly what I would have gone for. I should be furious about Archivist bypassing me like that. But somehow it did not matter much. No, when Garret was here I was just relieved and thankful that things were taken care of. Suddenly I could breath freely and I thought that if only I could stay in his arms long enough I would heal and become whole again, the way I was before leaving Talon and the violent time that followed. I leaned in to kiss him and he answered crushing me to his chest. Then he lifted his head again and asked "Have you eaten?" Seemingly abandoning the topic of my bad looks. "No, I slept since noon. " Suddenly I could feel how hungry I was but at the same time I did not want to release him. "How about we order some tapas and eat here?" I pointed to the couch. He peered down at me and truly smiled for the first time since he saw me and I had a hard time trying to stay focused. There was my Garret, this intoxicating mixture of desire and disbelief in his gray eyes. "Give me a second to change, make yourself at home commander. Maybe order food, I want wine boiled chorizo, meat balls with tomato sauce and bacon wrapped dates big pile of each."
I winked at him and rushed to my bedroom and beyond to the walk in closet the size of an average apartment on Manhattan, as the real estate agent described it. There I quickly shed my office clothes and changed into oversized multicolor sweatpants and a knitted crop top. I turned and felt sudden apprehension about going back to the living room. My headache was on its way back and I just wanted to run as far away from Garret as possible, I sat on a chaise long in the middle of the closet. The boy was a nuisance putting it mildly, making me reckless and weak. The thoughts popped in and out of my head along with a passing stab of migraine until I heard his voice coming from somewhere close.
"Ember?" I exited the closet and found him standing at the doorstep to my bedroom. He quickly stepped outside, when he saw me, and I rushed to grab his hand. He sent me that worried look again. "Are you all right?" "Yes, was just changing." He looked me over doubtfully. "Food is here." He said. "Wow, that was fast." I chuckled slightly confused.
We ate talking about things we've been doing since we've last seen each other almost a month before. Garret got in touch with Order's Academy and tried to persuade them to provide much needed reinforcements sooner, than they meant it was possible. More and more survivors of Night of Fang and Fire surfaced all around the world and it was difficult to maintain his position as their leader. I sat buried neck-deep in documentation on Talon, that the Archivist deemed best suited to give me insight and understanding of Talon. I was also struggling to establish satisfactory level of authority. In other words both our lives sucked badly and we could not see the end of it. Afterwards I turned on some music and we went to the couch. Garret sat down in one corner and I nestled between his legs leaning sideways against his chest. I wanted to touch him, kiss him talk some more.

"Ember, better go to bed it's past eleven." Garret was shaking my arm lightly. Have I fallen asleep? Again!? "Don't leave me!" I blurted. "Stay with me Garret". He shifted under me. "My leg is sleeping. " He said and tried to stretch. "Let's go to bed then." I rose and he followed collecting his bag from the floor by the doors. I pointed him to guest bathroom and hurried to my own to brush my teeth. Then I slipped into the closet to change into shorts and oversized t-shirt with Toothless serving as pajamas. As soon as I slipped them on I rushed out and waited for Garret in the hall. He come out soon wearing only black boxer shorts, he was lean and tan, his hair bleached by the sun.
I felt my stomach twist with longing and dread, at the sight of him. I wanted him so much, yet I did not feel fit for passionate lovemaking. I was tired and haunted, Talon required things of me, that I doubted, he would accept. Going on like this was a torment for both of us, but we could not see any alternatives right now and I would not accept ending the relationship either. Garret was the only ray of sun in my existence, he loved me and I needed him, completely and desperately. Around him I was myself, battered and wan but myself, when he was gone I did not know who I was anymore.
I strode to him and hugged him tightly, which he returned with a purr. Then I caught his eyes and said solemnly "Garret I love you and I want to be close, but I have not been feeling well lately... And I know, that we don't see each other much, but I can't go all the way tonight. Actually I... might not want to do anything tonight" I felt lame, but he brushed hair off my temple, his expression soft. "It's okay. We are not obliged to do anything Ember. Let's get you to bed." He lifted me up and carried me to my bed, that was neatly made with fresh linens. He put me on the floor and lifted the comforter for me to crawl in. I laid down obediently and patted the pillow next to me. Garret slid under the covers beside me and the warmth of his body engulfed me as he put his arm around me and turned the bed lamp off. In the relative darkness of my bedroom with Garret so close all worries and problems seemed insubstantial, only his heartbeat was real, only the scent of his body and the warmth of his skin mattered. For the first time in weeks I fell into deep dreamless sleep.
