billy thinks he might hate his life. thinks he might hate steve harrington, too.

might hate his life a little more after he starts sleeping with steve.

not because billy doesn’t enjoy it. he does. he really does.

not because steve’s mean. he’s not. not to billy, anyway. billy thinks he should be. but he’s not.

and not because steve’s a guy. billy’s fine with that. knows who he is. knows what he likes. and as long as neil doesn’t find out, that part isn’t a problem.

so no. it’s not because steve’s mean. or because billy doesn’t enjoy it.

and it’s not because he’s a guy.

it’s because he’s steve. because he’s steve and steve is making him feel things.

and that’s the one thing billy can’t do. can’t afford to do. not when he’s doing his best to get out of this shitty little town.

and see- billy knows he can fuck around and have it mean nothing. does it all the time.

so he tries to do just that with steve. tells himself that’s how he ended up in the back of steve’s car. in steve’s lap.

he just had to get it out of his system.

but steve-

steve’s different. interesting. nice.

steve’s nice to billy. calls him pretty. touches him like he’s something fucking fragile. rubs a thumb over billy’s cheekbone as he wipes away tears and calls billy baby in that voice.

and billy finds himself in steve’s car again. on steve’s couch. in steve’s bedroom.

knows he’s officially fucked when steve wraps one of billy’s curls around his finger and kisses him like he’s making a promise.

he makes billy wonder what it’d be like to fall asleep in steve’s bed. to wake up next to him.

and that’s a Problem for billy. as in- Problem with a capital P.

because billy wants to leave. needs to leave. needs to get out of hawkins. get away from neil and never look back.

he thinks he hates steve for it. for being like that. for making billy feel like this. thinks he really hates him for it.

he doesn’t, though.

really wishes he did.

but he doesn’t.
