the new video was greatly needed if watcher had any hopes of staying afloat. unfortunately, this backpedaling does not change the fact that
1) high production "television quality" content is what they want to make
2) this content is evidently not what people want to watch (even post-apology i'm seeing a lot of people saying they liked bfu better than anything watcher has produced)
again, if they have a clear vision of what they want to make, that's great. but unless there's a market for that content, then it's not going to turn a profit, or break even for that matter. yes, artists deserve to be paid for their work, but art is always bought by people who want and have an interest in said art.
im an artist pursuing my dreams too, but i don't expect people to buy my niche paintings just on the principle that i am an artist creating what i want. if i wanted to make money from this and turn it into a business, i would take commissions and specifically create what other people want. that is what having any kind of artistic job is about, unfortunately.
it's great if what you want to create and what people want to see overlap, but that's not always the case. and i really fear this is the case with watcher and they won't pivot enough to fix any of their problems

Honestly, going into your WIP pile to actually go through it and see what you actually want to finish can be really helpful, especially when you don't judge yourself and try to learn why that piece became a hibernater in your WIP pile
Some questions I ponder when I look at a WIP is:
Is this project turning out how I want? If not, what about it don't I like?
Do I or did I have fun when I was starting it?
Will I actually use it or enjoy it when I'm done?
Do I like the material now?
Do I see myself enjoying the product after it's done?
Were there, or are there, time restraints preventing me from finishing?
Is this out of my current skill set, and am I okay with that?
If I could change one thing about the WIP, what would it be?
I know plenty of people won't incorporate this into their own WIP and crafting journey, and that's okay. But I know so many people who hibernate their projects for many reasons and feel guilty about it. I hope this might give people ideas about why they hibernate projects to prevent that type of guilt from eating away at their conscious. This (creating) should be fun, and if you're spending a lot of time feeling guilty or ashamed, it can be hard to continue doing the things you like.

we need more representation for the people who want to be a part of nanowrimo so bad but do not have the capacity for it. bc personally trying to balance being a full-time student, mental health, a job, and writing over 1,000 words a day is rlly difficult and i have tried for three years to participate but can't ever finish it.

so I just found your blog, and I have never published a game, but I do know about coding and I was wondering if you'd be up to colaborate to make the farming sim someone brought up in a recent ask you answered 👀
coming back to my computer to see the overwhelmingly positive responses to my underbaked farm sim
if people are really interested in working on the technical side of it maybe i'll think about collabing with a team in the future 👀 which sounds WILD to say i never planned on it actually being able to take form. but just know that i have... a LOT in mind for how i want it to work...

stars!! re: your tags on the post you rb'd about wizard uni/wizard tech school: may i recommend Year of the Griffin, by Diana Wynne Jones (the woman who forced Tolkien to keep lecturing instead of fucking of to work on his books by continuing to attend his terrible uni lectures) as a book leaning hard into the wizard undergrad lyfe. One of the main protags is a griffin from a loving family of human wizards (this book is loosely the sequel to The Dark Lord of Derkholm, the fantasy pastiche) and the book follows her and the ragtag group of friends she makes at uni as their various unique problems interfere with the process of studying magic and making friends at university. It's been a while since I last read it but it features terrible profs obsessed with going to the moon, a pirate invasion, philosophy of magic debates in the cafeteria, and a really sweet moment in the middle of an action-packed climax where the main protags have to talk out their feelings to fix the big magical life-threatening problem. I highly recommend!
(wish I knew a book that went the wizard trade school route, but alas. if you hear of a book like that please tell!)
tumblr I need a "mark as unread" option for my inbox because the moment the little dot went away I forgot this ask existed. oops. sorry verso I read this and appreciated it and then forgot to reply 😅
(the wizard uni/trade school post)
That book sounds amazing, thank you for the rec!! The post made me really hungry for like, relatable-to-my-current-life uni shenanigans but with magic, and now I'm so curious what Undergrad Life(TM) adventures this book contains and if any of them will resonate. Either way it sounds like it's full of very fun shenanigans. (Now what I really need is a book about wizard art school. Someone should write that.) Anyway, thank you verso, this is going on my tbr immediately :)

my wild theory for why this change might be happening is that they’re making gortash less ‘flirty’ (really just manipulation but that’s not the point of this) to somehow like. pave the way for a fucking romance or something which i. uhm.
there perfect image that explains my feelings on the matter

Heyo guys! I did my first booth at a convention this past weekend. Here are some pictures.
It was a smaller local convention. My booth set up was a bit rough 😅 but it got the job done, and i will improve it in the future! It was a very cool, and socially exhausting experience for me 🤣 but definitely worth it!!!! I met some very nice people too, and then on the final day my friend joined me and we fucked around with those figurines HAHAHAHHAHA. Had to include some pics of them lol.
And idk if anyone will be in the area, but I will also be attending Montreal Comicon in 2 weeks! My booth number is 2031. Ive never been to this convention before, but it’ll be an experience!! I’ll share some more information next week if you guys are interested. Anyhow i really hope you don’t mind the irl post!!!

GOD. I forget how much fun writing can be. I don’t actually like the semantics of writing out dialogue n stuff (yet?) but I really love coming up with lore and background information and putting a bunch of stuff together for references.
That metroid dread post and my lil rant in the tags has only further inflamed my desire to make that story I have in mind REAL. I wanna do a Volume Zero type of story in webcomic format so it flows p nicely but def have some reading I need to do for reference.
I have my silly little google doc going though and idk I think if I can stick with it as a thing I keep coming back to for a creative outlet it’d be really fun as a way to work on both my drawing and my writing.
I figured at least while I’m being indecisive about the actual art style I could work on getting some other details together that will guide me later on.
If u are a metroid nerd and r interested in seeing my lil guiding document I would love 2 share a link (´ . .̫ . `) right now it's just some stuff hastily thrown together in the middle of my shift but i think it's shaping up into something Fun so far
