Our F.A.Q is now available!

You can either continue reading this post to find out more about the project, or you can read them here!

What is Xiaolin Reanimated?

This is a multi-animator project in which animators will be given a section of the show to animate. Once everything is complete, it’ll be edited together to create the episode! Due to the fanbase being small, it is likely that we won’t be able to animate the whole episode, but we have got a handful of scenes from the show that we have in mind. Participants are free to re-interpret the shot they’re given.

When will the project start?

We plan on sending confirmation emails and possibly invites to a Discord server around November 28, 2022. Everyone should be assigned their shot by December 5, 2022.

Will there be a Discord server for the participants?

Yes, if there is enough interest in the project as a whole and if people want to. We will not force participants to be in the server, but it creates a sense of community, and allows others to share tips and resources.

What’s the project timeline?

June 9–November 28, 2022: Interest check/open application November 28, 2022: Notify applicants and send out Discord invite links November 28-December 5, 2022: Assign sections to animators January 30, 2023: Check-in 1 March 20,2023: Check-in 2 May 15, 2023: Check-in 3 July 10, 2023: Check-in 4 September 4, 2023: Check-in 5 October 26, 2023: Check-in 6: Final Cut due November 1, 2023: Final cut is posted online!

What are the video specs?

1280x720 pixels, 24fps, mp4/mov uncompressed

What is the final deadline for submissions?

October 26, 2023: Check-in 6: Final Cut Due If you’re running late for any of the check-ins, please inform one of the organizers so that an extension or reassignment can be discussed. Please account for video editing and rendering.

Can I make changes to my final shot after submission?

Yes, but you have until October 30th, 2023 to make changes. The goal is to release the finished video on November 1st, the original premiere date of the series.

What kind of animation is allowed?

Absolutely any kind! As long as you’re able to animate your shot and get it to us on time.

Can I choose a specific shot?

When confirmations are sent you’re free to put in a request for what kind of shot you’d like. For example, if you’d like a shot with more action or a shot including your favorite character from the first episode, we’ll make a note of that when distributing them.

Can I alter the characters?

As long as they’re still recognizable, go ahead!

Can I change the staging or alter the shot to be different from the original?

Of course! Like with altering character designs, as long as important features and aspects of the shot are still included, you’re free to do what you want.

Can I trace for my shot?

We don’t mind if you trace from the original episode, but it would need to be different enough from the source by style or other means. Consider it a recreation of XS in your own style.

Should I use my real name or online alias when signing up?

That’s entirely up to you and what you’re comfortable with. As long as you inform others of how you’d like to be referred to as in the final cut, so that appropriate credits can be given, it does not matter which name you use when applying. It is considered more professional to use your real name, especially if you want to use this project on a resume.

How will I know if I’ve been selected to participate in the project?

On November 28, 2023, we will send out confirmation emails to applicants who have been successful in obtaining a spot on the team.

Can I share my finished piece or progress?

Of course! But please post it AFTER the final project is posted. Make sure to tag it with #XiaolinReanimated so that we can share what you’ve made.

How often should I share my work in progress?

Ideally you should share a WIP at the end of each step of your process (i.e. Finished storyboards, finished animatic, finished rough animation, finished line art, finished color, finished shading, finished rendering, filtering, or compositing). This is to catch any mistakes early on, so that you do not have to redo the entire shot from scratch.

Can I collab with someone on my animation?

Yes!

Should I add a credit/watermark when making my submission?

No. This is something that will be done when the final cut is being put together. You may add a credit or watermark when you post your cut to your preferred social media channels.

What if I don’t know how to animate?

There are other positions available. You could be a mod for the Discord server, create and provide backgrounds or other assets for animators to use, or - if you're comfortable animating a blink or something simple - a still animation shot. More details will be provided when the project gets underway.

What if I can animate, but don't have access to an animation program?

Try one of the free animation programs listed in this blog entry. There are also links to tutorials on how to use each program. Read up on the tools and features each offers to choose the one that you think will best suit your needs. Synfig, Blender, and Kirita were the programs more seasoned animators recommended.

Where can I find the character references?

Character references are available under the #character reference tag.

Where and when will the finished project be posted?

The video will be posted to the Director's YouTube channel (here) between November 1-3. An announcement will be made when the video is live!

Will there be a "Xiaolin Chronicles Reanimated?"

At this stage, that’s unlikely. XC was created nearly 10 years after XS, and as much as we would like to celebrate that as well, two projects going at the same time would be too much for everyone on the team to handle. This may be reconsidered in the future, but for the time being, the answer is no.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to ask. Our ask box is open and there’s always the option of messaging one of the organizers directly if the ask didn’t seem to be sent through.

Harry almost misses the hospital bed. The food sucked, but at least there were Healers to keep his father out of his room.

“Dad, we’ve had this conversation,” Harry laments tiredly as they walk the corridor to Harry’s office. “I was doing my job, you know how it is. Accidents happen on the field.”

“Well, my professional opinion is that there will be no field work for you for two weeks at least, until you get back in full shape.”

Incredulous, Harry whips his head toward him. “What?” A few heads turn to look in their direction, and he lowers his voice. “Are you out of your mind? Professional opinion, my arse! Don’t you dare confine me at my desk doing paperwork for weeks just because you have this absurd idea that a single scratch on my body is equivalent to me being on my deathbed!”

Stiff-backed and stubborn, James clenches his jaw. “You needed extensive healing—”

“Extensive healing? You heard mum! That sodding potion was just stubborn or whatever, but I was never in actual danger—”

“Head Auror Potter,” a pleasant voice interrupts them.

In a split second, Harry’s completely attuned to the new presence; a shiver slides down his spine like a lover’s caress, heat flooding his limbs, ensnaring Harry completely. Gone is every single thought of his father, replaced by images of perfect lips curled into a delicately vicious smile, a hint of teeth peeking out—the many other things those lips and teeth could do, biting and sucking on Harry’s neck, wrapped around Harry’s cock, and oh, how glorious it would be, to see those lips part around a moan as Harry bends Riddle over his desk and fucks him hard and deep and fast—

“Mr. Riddle. Good morning,” James greets. “Have you met my son?”

Harry meets Riddle’s honeyed gaze straight on. “Auror Harry Potter,” he says in his best friendly voice, offering his hand. He doesn’t miss the small stutter in Riddle’s expression, how his eyes widen for an instant before returning to their usual calculating sharpness. Interesting.

Even more interesting is the way Riddle is looking at Harry from head to toe now, calm and unabashed. “Tom Riddle, heir to the House Gaunt. I see where the rumours about your striking similarity to your father come from.” His handshake is firm, fingers smooth and cold. Harry wants to feel them all over his skin, leaving goosebumps in their wake, pushing inside him, leading him over the edge towards blissful oblivion.

James’ smile is polite and bordering on stiff as he puts an arm around Harry’s shoulders, shielding him on instinct from Riddle’s scrutiny. “He also inherited my stubbornness and the tendency to throw himself headfirst into danger, I’m afraid.”

“No Auror worth their salt lingers too long on thoughts of self-preservation,” Riddle observes. “I must take my leave now. It has been a pleasure to meet you, Auror Potter. Good afternoon to you both.”

Harry clamps down on the urge to watch him leave. He already knows he’ll wank himself raw tonight, thinking of that small moment where Riddle has caught his eye and faltered, and how his voice sounded when it shaped Harry’s name afterwards.

Once inside Harry’s office, James raises the Ministry-approved Privacy Charms and declares: “That man gives me the creeps.”

“Does he?” Harry says, plopping onto his chair without a single ounce of grace. Riddle’s intensity could be seen as creepy, especially up close; at this point, though, Harry is too far gone to find it anything but arousing. It’s like he’s decided to throw the entirety of his Auror training of the window. Or, well—he can still recognise the signs of danger. He just willingly chooses not to care.

His father doesn’t seem to share the sentiment. James snorts, before saying: “You don’t need me to tell you how off his magic feels, not to mention his behaviour. I mean, the way he just stared at you, and that smile?”

“Is he always like this? The whole”—he gestures at his own body—“looking up and down thing he did?” Harry asks, hoping to find out more about the object of his fantasies.

“Not always, but still too often for anyone to be comfortable around him. Rumour has it that he’s a Legilimens, but I’ve never seen a Legilimens be so obvious about eye contact. He must have noticed that the whole Ministry avoids his eyes, and he doesn’t seem to care.”

But Harry has made eye contact, and his Occlumency has always been shite. So, if the rumour was true, what Riddle must have seen at the forefront of his mind...

Oh.

At times, Ben is mildly haunted by the question of if he might be Basil's dad.

Basil's parents were Spooks. Ben used to be a Spook. He's ace and uninterested, so he's not exactly hopping merrily from bed to bed, but he has slept with people for various reasons in the past, and he's also gotten his memory redacted a time or two, for Spook-related reasons. He could have slept with a lady Spook in one of those periods of time he can't remember now, at about the right time for her to have Basil later. He occasionally wonders, and then firmly pushes the thought away again. He's not set up to parent anyone, and he feels like he'd have to say something if he ever found out for sure.

Meanwhile Basil also wondered as soon as he met Ben at like thirteen, immediately went about sneaking a DNA sample to do the requisite testing, found out Ben's definitely not his dad, and moved on with his life. It never occurred to him to mention it; it's not like Ben wouldn't know for sure, right?

The LORD said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, “This month shall stand at the head of your calendar; you shall reckon it the first month of the year. Tell the whole community of Israel: On the tenth of this month every one of your families must procure for itself a lamb, one apiece for each household. If a family is too small for a whole lamb, it shall join the nearest household in procuring one and shall share in the lamb in proportion to the number of persons who partake of it. The lamb must be a year-old male and without blemish. You may take it from either the sheep or the goats. You shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month, and then, with the whole assembly of Israel present, it shall be slaughtered during the evening twilight. They shall take some of its blood and apply it to the two doorposts and the lintel of every house in which they partake of the lamb. That same night they shall eat its roasted flesh with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.

He took a towel and tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and dry them with the towel around his waist. He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Master, are you going to wash my feet?” Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing, you do not understand now, but you will understand later.” Peter said to him, “You will never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him, “Unless I wash you, you will have no inheritance with me.” Simon Peter said to him, “Master, then not only my feet, but my hands and head as well.” Jesus said to him, “Whoever has bathed has no need except to have his feet washed, for he is clean all over; so you are clean, but not all.” For he knew who would betray him; for this reason, he said, “Not all of you are clean.”

"IN KHAKI, CAN'T DODGE JAIL ENLISTED ONLY WHEN CAUGHT," Toronto Star. August 19, 1943. Page 2. ---- Geo. Corey Failed to Answer Call for Military Training ---- GETS ONE MONTH ---- A Police Court, City Hall, Magistrate Browne. Appearing in court in army uniform, George A. Corey pleaded guilty of failing to report for military training. Corey admitted to John Robinette, special crown counsel that he joined the army after he was arrested on the charge.

"Just because one joins the army after they are caught, is no reason for leniency," said Magistrate Browne imposing a term of one month in jail and ordering that after the sentence is served he be returned to the army.

James Butler, enfo far enforcement officer the National Selective Service. stated that in July last year Corey was notified to report for medical examination and did, and was placed in a category not fit for military training.

"On April 2 this year he was notified to appear for a re-examination and did so and was placed in a category fit for training said Mr. Butler. "On April 22 he applied for a deferment which was refused by the board. He was notified to report for military training and did not."

"The reason I did not report was because my father and mother were seriously ill. I have a brother in the army," said Corey. Asked by Meyer Goodman, his counsel, how he liked the army, the accused replied: "I am proud to be in the army."

One month in jail was the sentence given W. Fene, after he pleaded guilty of failing in report for military training.

Before sentence was passed the defence stated the reason the accused did not report was because of illness in the family.

"I am worried listening to all this illness,' declared Magistrate Browne.

P.C. Robert Cherry, R.C.M.P., said he searched the office of Naiffe Stephen, Bay St., on July 6, and found the notice sent to the accused calling him up for military training torn into small pieces.

"On July 20, I questioned the accused," said Det.-Sgt. Spanton. RCMP. "I asked him what he had done with the order to report. He told me that he received it, but that he did not know what he did with it. He admitted that he knew Stephen."

James Butler, enforcement officer for selective service, stated that on March 31 accused was examined and placed in a category fit for military training. "He applied for a deferment, and this was refused by the board. On June 12, he was notified to report on June 30 for military training, and did not do so," said witness.

After the sentence is served, the court ordered that accused be turned over to the military authorities.

For stealing a camera and a pair of gloves, Peter LeClair, with a criminal record, was sentenced to six months.

W. J. Moffatt told Magistrate Browne that on Aug. 17 he saw accused trying the doors of parked cars on James St.

"I saw him take a camera and gloves from a car, I followed him to Queen St. where he met a man who purchased the camera. I handed accused over to a police officer," said witness.

LeClair, who pleaded guilty, stated he was drinking at the time.

Up for sentence for breaking into a Queen St. E. restaurant and stealing $17 and cigarettes, Leo Boully was given three months definite and three indefinite. His companion, Joseph Durand, was sentenced to one year definite and three months indefinite last week.

They were arrested by P.C. James Rose.

Victor Wazny, Michael Pokulok and Peter Baziw, were charged with stealing a car. Wazny and Pokulok each received one year definite and three months' indefinite. Baziw was remanded until Aug. 26 for sentence.

GIVEN 20 MONTHS ---- B Police Court, City Hall, Magistrate Hanrahan Convicted of housebreaking, taking an auto without the consent of the owner, and retaining stolen goods. Clarence Croft was sentenced to 20 months in Burwash reformatory, by Magistrate Hanrahan, in "B" police court today.

"This man has committed a great many offences, starting in 1928." said his worship in the case of Clarence Horne, [PICTURED] convicted of breaking into the Sol Gold fur store. Yonge St. and stealing $500 worth of furs. He was sentenced to two years in the penitentiary.

William Tye pleaded not guilty. and Joseph O'Sullivan and Joseph Cusimano pleaded guilty of shop-breaking.

Stanley Watson said his factory on Mutual St. was broken into Aug. 13 and a large quantity of potato chips and popcorn was stolen.

P.C. Walter Scott told of arresting the trio.

"I don't think there is enough evidence to warrant a charge of shopbreaking," said the court, "so I suggest it be amended to a charge of theft." This was done. Tye again pleaded not guilty. Tye was acquitted, and the other two were remanded for sentence till tomorrow.

W. Charles Andrews and Fred J. P. Killaby pleaded guilty of stealing candies and chocolates to the value of $1.000 during 1943 from K. and L. Motor Express, Ltd. Both were employees.

P.C. Walter Scott read statements of both accused in which they admitted taking the goods and selling them at various places. One sale netted $100, another $200, the statement said. They will be sentenced Saturday.

Pleading guilty of stealing a bicycle, James Pogson was remanded for sentence until Friday.

'JUST SHOWING OFF' --- County Police Court, County Buildings, Magistrate Woodliffe "When I asked him why he was driving that way, zig-zagging, he said he had a few beers," stated P.C. Thomas Davis of the East York police department in the case of Russell Kirkwood, age 24, charged with careless driving. Magistrate Woodliffe, in county police court, found the accused guilty and imposed a fine of $25 plus costs, or 30 days.

"Why were you zig-zagging," again asked Magistrate Woodliffe. "I was showing off," replied Kirkwood.

"I don't believe your story. The car was stolen and I'm satisfied you stole it, probably for the purpose of taking the fires," said Magistrate Woodliffe in convicting Dennis Andrews, 27, of theft of a car belonging to Neal Currie, Lanton Ave.

Andrews testified he had found the car abandoned on the street the night of Aug. 16, and was merely doing a favor to the owner by putting back two spare tires which somebody else had taken from the vehicle Andrews was remanded till Aug 25 for sentence

CHARGE DISMISSED --- "C" Police Court, City Hall. Magistrate Prentice. Joint charges of theft brought against Mrs. Marie Levinsky and Steve Dmytriv by Mrs. Levinsky's father, John Joiba, were dismissed by Magistrate Prentice. Joiba claimed they stole $345 from him.

Through an interpreter Joiba said he had come to Toronto a short time ago. "I gave my daughter the money. Then she gave it back. I was in a trunk in my room," he said.

Under cross-examination by Ome Brown, Joiba added a stranger had slept in the room for a week. "I don't know his name. He went away two days after I called police.

"He was driving on Jones Ave. Sunday afternoon with 10 bottles of liquor and 24 quarts of beer." Plainclothesman Fred Paveling testified when Leonard Dinwoodie appeared on a charge of having liquor illegally.

"The car wiil be confiscated and the fine will be $200," the court said.

[AL: Horne was 39, single, unemployed at time of arrest, and had a long criminal record, including 10 previous terms in the reformatory. He had been released from Kingston Penitentiary in November 1942. He was convict #7448 at Kingston Penitentiary and worked at a number of jobs in the prison, finally doing clerical work in a prison workshop. He was released April 1948.]

This year’s personal planet Capricorn ingresses commenced on 01 December as Mercury paved the way joining a series of bodies that have achieved tenure in Capricorn. These long-standing influences chatting up Mercury include the asteroid Icarus, the centaurs Pholus and Hylonome, the Kuiper Belt Object Quaoar and Pluto, however you personally classify him. Pluto says, “Sayonara,” to Capricorn until September somewhat midstream in the transit sequence ahead.

This sign change suggests a collective unconscious attitude shift that could potentially impact an astute Earth-occupying traveler to apply the evolving consciousness and accrue even further gains.

What does all of this tenured influence mean? Eat well and consume only those things that foster your being. Make every act of life ceremonial. Don’t fly too high - you know, no over assessment of capabilities. Life is a creative song and dance routine. This is the fastest spinning pulsar known. About two-thirds of the way through the seagoat’s domain sits an enigmatic black hole system SS433 (20 Cap 29).

This speedy and anomalistic pulsar provides an ongoing series of messages that clarify sticking point issues in ones life. These appear as repeating blips from the cosmos that intend to get you to: let go of mental snares that no longer serve your purposes; cease discussing (and repeating ad nauseam) matters of the past you must let go. On the heels of those processes, you get to work in pure creative flow and completing tasks in an unprecedently short interval of time. Let go of the same ole story. Write a new life script that’s perfect for Capricorn: economy of energy applied to enthusiastic aspirations that ensure economic excellence and potentially a modicum of ecstacy.

SS433 is a most compelling astrophysical anomaly. Perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised that Attitude, the UK’s leading gay men’s magazine, has named TikTok celebrity Dylan Mulvaney, a 26-year-old bloke, as its first ever Woman of the Year. We gay men aren’t exactly known to be connoisseurs of female anatomy. We tend to have the sort of working knowledge of the vulva that most suburban commuters have of the Amazon river basin. More on the theoretical side.

It wasn’t just the fact that most readers of Attitude wouldn’t recognise a vagina if they stumbled across one in a dark room that inspired the magazine to name a guy as best of the gals. This was also an opportunity for some political posturing.

Because Dylan Mulvaney isn’t just any bloke. He is one of those special males who have helped rebrand the once hopeless cause of men’s rights as ‘trans rights’, turning it into the progressive left’s favourite contemporary obsession in the process. It’s a movement that is so centred around men that it argues the best kind of woman is a deluded dude who thinks his moobs are actually boobs.

Mulvaney has become an iconic figure for both the embattled trans lobby and the increasingly assertive reaction against it. His simpering parody of womanhood in his TikTok videos has outraged everyone who thinks biology is at least worth some acknowledgement. Britain’s left-wing radical feminists and the American right alike are horrified by his endless babble about make-up, high-heels and his desire to have a ‘Barbie pouch’ (his term for a vagina). When beer brand Bud Light partnered up with Mulvaney in an attempt to raise sales, rock star Kid Rock filmed himself using the cans as target practice. A nation cheered.

Bud Light’s endorsement and the Attitude award are far from the most ridiculous example of corporate sycophancy that’s been shown to Mulvaney. Tampax even sent him a box of free tampons to promote its brand. He said in one of his videos that he would carry them in his handbag so he could offer them to any woman who needed one. The fact that there is a deeply strange but significant subculture within the trans movement of men who fetishise menstruation, and who like to imagine experiencing it themselves, only made the video more unsettling.

Mulvaney is a testament to the power of TikTok (where he now has over 10million followers) to create overnight sensations. Until early in 2022, he was just another unemployed actor of the kind you might come across waiting tables in a West Hollywood restaurant. Mulvaney’s career was going nowhere fast.

The problem was that Hollywood, despite its army of rent boys, gay orgies and performative LGBT virtue-signalling, doesn’t create many roles for gay men who are as relentlessly camp as Mulvaney. And boy was he camp. Alan Carr would have asked him to tone it down.

In one video of Mulvaney from before his transition in 2020, he appears on a game show. He squeals, spins round, waves his hands, squeals some more and dances like a ballerina on ketamine. It is endearing in a crazed sort of a way, but unlikely to impress an agent. Unfortunately for him, Marvel was yet to add ‘Screaming Queen’ to its ever-expanding list of superhero characters. So he needed to find another role.

Lo and behold, in March 2022, Mulvaney announced he was coming out as a ‘girl’ and was going to post a video diary on TikTok every day for the next year. The tone of ‘365 Days of Girlhood’ was set the next day. As he applied lipstick, Mulvaney intoned what he seemed to think was a clarion call for women.

‘My first day as a girl and I’ve already cried three times. I wrote a scathing email that I did not send, I ordered dresses online that I could not afford. And then, when someone asked how I was, I said I was fine when I wasn’t.’ Who knew the real message of a century of feminism was that being scatty, indecisive and over-emotional is the very essence of being a woman? At least, this is apparently what the addled executives who signed off Mulvaney’s Virgin Atlantic-sponsored ‘Woman of the Year’ award endorse.

By day three of ‘365 Days of Girlhood’, Mulvaney revealed he had made a discovery: the joys of being a bimbo. Then on day four, he claimed to be exhausted with all the challenges of being a girl, which he listed as doing his make-up, sorting his hair and getting dressed. Move over Betty Friedan and Germaine Greer.

Day 10, however, was devoted to showtunes, suggesting it may be more difficult for some transwomen to erase their inner gay man than they’d hoped.

None of this reactionary, sexist garbage put off America’s corporate executives. Desperate to signal their ‘Diversity, Equity and Inclusion’ credentials, they were soon falling over themselves to endorse Mulvaney. In addition to Tampax and Bud Light, brands like Kate Spade, Crest, Ulta Beauty, Haus Labs and CeraVe helped him bring in a reported $1million in income in 2022.

Indeed, Mulvaney made so much money that by February 2023, he could afford to re-engineer his entire face with some facial-feminisation surgery. I can’t be the only person wondering if he should sue the surgeon.

Strangely, Mulvaney doesn’t seem to care enough about being a girl to undergo the procedure to construct his very own ‘Barbie pouch’. Maybe it would prevent him waxing as lyrically, as he has often done, about his right to show off his girl-bulge in public.

Mulvaney’s success – and especially his ‘Woman of the Year’ award – is yet more evidence, if we needed it, that the once progressive LGBT movement has imploded. It used to fight for the rights and acceptance of same-sex-attracted people and allied itself with women’s equality. Now it’s an embarrassment. The LGBT lobby has become a ridiculous parody – a bit like Mulvaney himself.

I had grew up in a very CraZy Family my mom has been sent to asylum institute once and I have been in hospital only legacy salmon creek hospital last time 16 years old in there 3 days my mother would rally me up get me all hyper on candy and just be straight like hours later yelling at me to calm down I start cry go into mental break downs crying due all my child hood after age 12years old all my mother and Kevin did was yelling at each other throw stuff not realizing that it traumatized me so bad so back to the true story so she did that me I went hospital lock down part 4 times in my hole life 3 times at legacy salmon creek hospital in Vancouver washington and 1 time as well at peace health southwest hospital in Vancouver washington after so many times being there as soon I got there about couple hours into being there I was calm they ask me after 3 Time I had visit there why I act like these told them my mother would rally me up get me all hyper happy Holly jolly then when she could not handle it she would yell at me saying calm down yelling top her lungs and they call cps on her I went foster care for week and weekend as well then was released back CraZy women that I called mother I was like for real then months later back into hospital again same old same old peace health told them the truth right away I was sent youth shelter by firgrove in Vancouver washington my mother was not allowed have contact with me

Who Saw That Coming? Definitely not me

On March 26, 2023, I took the Civil Service Exam at the Professional level. Today, we received the results, and I passed. To be honest, I didn't prioritize the exam much. I only took it because my parents wanted me to do something, perhaps as a way to redeem myself after transferring schools as a college student, which isn't seen in a positive light. I willingly obliged to keep the peace at home, as I knew they would keep asking until I did it. I applied for the exam in December 2022, and only my internet friends knew about it. I only studied for the exam on March 25, as I didn't really consider it something I wanted to do; it was solely for my parents. I studied until midnight and only had a few hours of sleep before the exam.

On the morning of the exam day, my mom accompanied me, and we argued on the way because we didn't know how to get to the testing site and how much the fare would be. The tricycle driver asked for 100 pesos, which I thought was overpriced considering it was morning and there was no traffic. But let's not dwell on that anymore; it's already done. Anyway, I arrived at the testing site on time, and we took the exam as scheduled. While I was taking the exam, I accidentally fell asleep for a minute or two, and the facilitator lightly tapped me to wake me up. I felt drowsy and was only halfway through the exam. I took several bathroom breaks to stretch and wake myself up, but it didn't help much. I only felt completely awake when the proctor announced that we only had 30 minutes left, and I still had some questions remaining in the English part and had just started with the Math section. I tried my best to finish everything, but I became a little desperate due to the time pressure, so I quickly answered some of the math problems without much thought. As soon as I left the testing site, I already accepted that I wouldn't pass the exam because of what had happened. I was so sure of it.

Fast forward to today, my mom woke me up at 6 in the morning to tell me that the results for the Civil Service Exam were out and that I should check them. Until 1 in the afternoon, she kept asking about it, but the website had a lot of traffic, and I truly believed that I hadn't passed the exam. However, by 1 PM, I also saw my name on the list of passers on another site. I didn't tell my mom because I wanted to confirm it on the main site to ensure its legitimacy. It's now 3 PM, and I still can't access the main site for the exam passers, but I think I have already accepted that I passed the exam. UPDATE: 3:47 PM - Confirmed now through the main website that I did really pass the exam!

Close large N.S. facilities, provide services to people with disabilities: report

An expert report released Wednesday moves people with disabilities in Nova Scotia a step closer to the end of an era when many had to live in large institutions.

The report by Eddie Bartnik, an Australian consultant on disability services, and Tim Stainton, a University of British Columbia professor of social work, recommends the province move 652 of the 870 people in institutions -- three quarters of the total -- into housing in communities by 2025. It says the large facilities should be entirely closed by 2028.

The 131-page report envisions ending new admissions to the facilities, known as adult residential centres and regional rehabilitation centres, in the first year of the reforms, which it recommends begin this summer.

"It's a move toward getting rid of the discriminatory treatment of people with disabilities and their access to social assistance," said Claire McNeil, the lawyer for the Disability Rights Coalition -- whose human rights case led to the proposed changes.

In an interview Wednesday, Karla MacFarlane, the minister of community services, said, "we agree on the report," which now goes to a human rights board of inquiry to be finalized.

"I'm hoping the board of inquiry will be delivering a ruling and approval as soon as possible, and we will be following their direction," she said.

In a news release, the Community Services Department said the cost "will depend on factors such as program design, staffing levels, the availability of specialized supports and a regional approach to delivering services."

The recommendations are the result of a marathon legal battle originally launched in 2014 by three people with disabilities who were kept in a Halifax psychiatric hospital for years, despite medical opinions they could live in the community with appropriate supports.

Their human rights case went to a board of inquiry and eventually the province's Court of Appeal, which ruled in favour of the arguments of the Disability Rights Coalition. It found that people living with disabilities were being subjected to discrimination in their inability to obtain social assistance -- including housing, support and services.

Last August, the province agreed to work with the disabilities coalition on a remedy that would be overseen and approved by a human rights board of inquiry. Bartnik and Stainton were hired to provide suggestions on a remedy.

Their report contemplates a year-by-year plan with a March 31, 2028 end date. It says the government's actions in implementing the plan should be independently monitored on a regular basis, including regular, public disclosure of data and documents.

The human rights board of inquiry overseeing the remedy ordered by the courts would retain jurisdiction until it determines that the systemic discrimination has ended, the expert report says.

Under the current system, when people with disabilities apply for services or housing they're often put on a lengthy wait list. As of last July, there were 1,834 people on the department's waiting lists for various types of housing and support.

Under the report's recommendations, resources would be increased so that in 2028, the lengthy wait times would be eliminated.

"INSTITUTIONS ARE LIKE PRISONS"

The province would also create a "critical response team" with trained staff to ensure people in crisis have immediate access to supports and services, as well as multidisciplinary teams to meet needs as people shift into community settings. Bartnik and Stainton also recommend more staff and new positions for area coordinators spread throughout Nova Scotia.

"I am very happy they are closing all the institutions, because institutions are like prisons," Charlie Lemon, a member of the Disability Rights Coalition, said in a news release. "It will be a big victory day for people with disabilities when that happens."
