This summer I had a sudden desire to dye a bunch of rainbow striped yarn in different ways, and play with the results. So far:

Method 1, i thought it would be a cool challenge to dye a skein of yarn carefully planned so that i could knit a crescent shawl and have stripes the size I want all in one skein. So I picked a pattern, did a swatch, did a bunch of math (yes, there was a spreadsheet), portioned out the yarn by weight and I think it turned out pretty well. Almost all the color changes happened where I wanted them, but I did have to dye more yarn to finish the bindoff.

Method 2: I wound a longish warp on my warp board, and dyed sections of the warp in sequence. Unfortunately I did it in the evening when I was tired, and put the turquoise not where I actually wanted it, but it still turned out really fun

Sock 1, a herringbone rib

Sock 2, SlipStripeSpiral combined with a plain white yarn

Method 3: I held the yarn double, and knit a blank in garter stitch on size 15 needles. I then dyed it as a repeating long gradient, using the garter ridges for even spacing. I did it on our somewhat sloped sidewalk, so the dye would run more, and the underside would get an interesting effect.

Sock 1: standard top down sock with a sailors rib pattern

Sock 2: toe up with a traveling stitch zigzag

I should be able to get probably 3 more pairs of socks out of this, but I haven't decided on what design I want to do yet, so nominate your favorites if you get so moved

Continuing to watch through the Writer/Director commentary of LotR (with Peter Jackson, Philippa Boyens, and Fran Walsh) and jotting down any new-to-me information I come across. Here's what I gleaned from TTT:

When they got the New Line logo to put on the movies, it was very old and scratched, so PJ gave it to Weta to touch it up. They joked about how they should bill New Line for it XD

Originally, the studio wanted TTT to start off with a prologue too, with Cate Blanchett narrating what sounds like it was basically going to be a "Previously on..." spiel, even though they didn't like the idea of the prologue in the first one. Thankfully, these three ignored the studio's advice both times XD

The Uruk who says "Manflesh" is also the guy in Sauron's armor in the prologue!

In the scene where the Rohirrim find Theodred, it's not actually raining! They used rain towers for the close-ups, but any wide shots just have CG rain. I would never have guessed!

Andy Serkis did the voices for the Uruk-Hai who says the "maggoty bread" line, and the orc who says, "Yeah, why can't we have some meat?" (The actor in the suit for the latter is, of course, Jed Brophy, who went on to play Nori in the Hobbit movies.)

Somehow it never registered for me that Orlando Bloom has brown eyes, and so he had to wear blue contacts when he played Legolas ^^' But sometimes he wasn't able to wear the contacts (or forgot), so there are some scenes where they had to fix it in post.

PJ called the Treebeard from the animated Bakshi movie "a walking carrot" XD He also said that Treebeard is his favorite character!

The scene with Smeagol killing Deagol was originally going to be a flashback right after Frodo says his name, and then the Nazgul shriek would pull the audience out of the flashback. They decided not to do that for pacing reasons and because we haven't spent much time with Gollum yet, so that's why they put it at the beginning of RotK instead.

Bernard Hill had his son with him on the shoot and would play with him in his downtime on the Edoras set. Puts things into perspective when you hear that he was the one who came up with the line "No parent should have to bury their child."

They were originally looking at Bernard Hill for Gandalf! (I feel like I've probably heard this before, but anyway.)

They filmed a flashback to Aragorn and Arwen's first meeting?! Viggo shaved to make himself look younger, and it was a scene of the two of them "frolicking about the forest." It was originally going to be put in the Lothlorien sequence, but they cut it out in favor of that scene between Aragorn and Boromir, because they decided it was more important to earn Boromir's death scene than to remind the audience of the romance. I agree with that decision, but it would be cool to see that footage! (I say as someone who prefers to skip the TTT Aragorn/Arwen scene entirely XD)

Originally, the warg battle was going to happen at Edoras itself. It was going to be at night, everything was going to be on fire, and ultimately that was going to be the reason everyone evacuated and went to Helm's Deep. Also, a warg was going to be set on fire and end up dragging Aragorn through the streets, and that was going to be how Aragorn would be left for dead. Ultimately, the reason they did it the way they did was because the studio wasn't sure Weta could do a flaming warg (something all three of them laughed about, considering everything Weta did manage to do with flying colors), and because it would have been a nightmare to light the Edoras set at night, because that location was so remote and so windy. Which is why every scene in Edoras takes place in the daytime!

In the scene where Faramir talks about his dream where he saw Boromir in the boat, you can see a sort of pinkish color in the water around Boromir's body. That's because the dye from his shirt (surcoat? idk) was leaking out into the water! XD

When Andy Serkis did ADR for the Forbidden Pool scene, he couldn't manage to sing the song off-key, so they had to use the audio from the motion capture footage XD

They shot some additional footage of Aragorn unconscious on Brego's back, riding past an orc encampment, that they never ended up using.

Theoden was originally going to give a speech to the soldiers in the armory, but Bernard Hill's performance was so inspiring that it defused most of the tension they were trying to build up before the battle, so they took it out. Would love to see that footage!

So the boy Aragorn encourages before the battle ("There is always hope.") was Philippa Boyens' son, who was 13 when they filmed the scene. But by the time they went to do ADR, his voice had broken, so they had to get a different child actor to say his lines.

Aww, the extra who was missing an eye said he always felt self-conscious about his missing eye, so he always wore an eyepatch. But then after they gave him a close-up and the guy saw the movie, he said he felt much better about his appearance! :')

Treebeard's line "I always like going south; it feels like going downhill" was ad-libbed!

When Saruman turns and reacts to all the water pouring in and washing his machinery away, that shot was actually a reaction shot to Wormtongue on top of the tower from the RotK movie that they repurposed for this scene instead, since they hadn't shot any reactions to the flood.

At least at the time of the recording of this audio commentary, the final shot of Gollum, where he's arguing with himself and ultimately decides to lead Frodo and Sam to Shelob, was the longest CG shot in any movie. (I tried to google what the current record is, but couldn't find anything, so if anyone knows, I'd love to hear about it!)

Fran Walsh: "All cinema storytelling, to a degree, is shallow. That's the nature of the medium. You've got two or three hours to present a world and a dense story with a hundred themes and a ton of backstory, in this instance, and 22 characters...so you can only really have the veneer of depth. You really can't have anything that comes close to the depth of the books, or the experience of the books. So I think what we attempted to do was to use the language of the books where we could and to certainly invoke them, the iconic images, where we could, but to keep the storytelling very much...to modernize it, if you like, in terms of cinema language. So we didn't, for example, use the style of storytelling that was in the books between these different after-the-fact storytelling, of Sam and Frodo and then a chunk of the Aragorn story. We completely undercut it. That was a far more immediate and engaging way to connect it to the audience. You can't really hope to satisfy people who adore this book, with the movie. You can only ever give them the sense of what might have been. That's all a film can do. I think, in that sense, films...I mean, they're entertainments. They're just not going to give you the pleasure that a book can give you."

i saw a post regarding the grownup misfits from chapter 198 and decided to do a post on purson, because, it got way more length than i first thought

purson's wings grew! theyre significantly larger compared to his current wing size, albeit smaller than the average demon's but somehow i feel like its the perfect size for him

he's wearing the same headress too, i wonder if that signify's his being head of the clan but his father doesn't seem to be wearing it? that unless they only wear it when theyre on Duty

comparing future purson and the above purson's clothing, the sleeves in the grownup version are more fitted with the shoulders more structures, and it looks like his grownup attire is more fitted to his body rather than flowy

personally, the grownup attire looks better by a small amount, the flowiness of the initial attire screams mysterious and elegant, sleeves fluttering as he reappears and disappears constantly, the epitome of being a Purson. i feel like when he walks it feels as if he's gliding instead of walking.

soi, his brother, and his father seem to be wearing the same thing around their necks as well, i couldnt find what it's called and the closest thing i could find was a chinese knot tassel, but even then it's quite distinct

also to diverge from outfits and to their appearances themselves

soi and his mother look very much alike, and he takes after his mother more than his father; the same eye shape and small wings (though his wings seemed to grow when he grew while hers did not), as well as the small horns on his head

his father's features are more detailed (and he's unfairly pretty oh my god why is he so pretty), he doesnt have any visible horns, but the hair pin he's using looks like a wing! and it being pure black kinda unifies his appearance to those of his wife and (pur)son

and you know who else kinda looks like momma purson?

and couple that with the fact that we haven't seen purton's face, and soi himself doesn't remember what his brother looks like (which is, that's rough buddy), wett being purton is kinda plausible, and we don't exactly know his bloodline magic, and wett looks to be around what purton''s age should be... everything's up in the air!

the simplistic eyes that we take as a purson trait, the small horns (though they're bigger than momma purson and soi's) his hair is a dark purple which is similar to the soi's lilac hair, we havent seen colored parent pursons yet and changing hair colors easy pretty easy in the mairuma world, a simple first year spell instead of going through the hassle of buying dye

Sunday Stitchin'

Today I wanted to do a check-in, since I am due in providing an update. It deserves to be more of a WIP Wednesday because I am deep in juggling all of my many projects. Except it's Sunday on my side of the planet, so...

The active WIP count is up to 6, with 2 projects in each of my three crafts.

Tunisian Crochet: 2 Knit: 2 Crochet: 2

Crochet has taken more of a backseat this week. I've got what I am calling my palate cleanser doily in off white. I tend to work on it whenever I am bored with the repetition in my other projects. Since each row is different, the doily works a bit like putting puzzle pieces together. The chevron scarf from my bingo is the other crochet project, and while I have worked on it some this week, I will admit I got annoyed at the weaving in of ends this last round. So even though I finished this section, I haven't been eager to rinse & repeat quite yet.

In the knit world, I've finally started to figure out the magic loop technique. I hadn't shared what I was learning it for - eventually I want to feel comfortable enough to attempt socks again, but for now I was working it with a fingerless mitts pattern with worsted weight yarn. My first pair of mitts I am so pleased with, and they were well worth the initial awkward struggle of magic loop. The variegation in the yarn was spiraling upward until I started increasing around the thumb, so in the end it does look jarringly inconsistent. I love them though. I immediately went out and bought yarn to start some more, as I decided this is going to be the holiday pattern this year. So my current knit projects are two more pairs of the same mitt pattern.

MVP of this week is Tunisian Crochet.

At my LYS knit night, I worked the chevron scarf in Tunisian Crochet which is going to be a gift around the holidays as well. This is the one I had to frog back 11 inches after missing a stitch I didn't notice until later. This past week, I finally worked it back up to where I was before the frogging, so this felt like a huge accomplishment. It currently can drape over my neck, but not wrap, so I still have a bit to go - and I personally like my scarves on the longer end. It's fingering weight, I think I've mentioned before, so by the end this will truly have been a labor of love.

Finally - and pretty spontaneously - yesterday I decided I was going to try to make the Aruba Tunic by Toni at TL Yarn Crafts in preparation for our beach vacation coming up. For clarity, I will be there this time next week, so I went ambitious with my deadline, but I also didn't have a lot of time to plan. The actual trip was also a fairly recent addition to the calendar. I figure, if I don't actually finish beforehand this isn't a bad idea for a vacation project while away.

I'm still going to give it a solid college try.

I drove over to JoAnn's, picked some colors, compared dye lots, repicked colors, and then repicked them again, triple checked dye lots, and I've been working on the first panel of the tunic all last night and today. As of this evening, I'm at row 23/26 of this panel, and then I will be halfway.

I am using the recommended Coboo for this project, and the colors I selected are Denim and Taupe.

Thoughts about clones - hair color/tattoos at Kamino

I have looked through the episodes and movie scenes were we see clones at Kamino and I don't see younger clones / clone cadets (which haven't graduate yet and wear the red tunic) already having tattoos.

Notice for example dominion squad - even Fives has not his 5 tattooed on his temple (the following screenshot shows Echo and Fives during training):

Of course, it might be possible that at this point they haven't decided yet if they want a tattoo or what tattoo to get - or they don't have the possibility for this at Kamino.

Same with different hair colors - all the clones seem to have the same hair color at this point - with one exception - we see a blond cadet.

If there is hair dye available - wouldn't there be more and other colors used? Not just blond or their natural hair color? Why would the Kaminoans (or the Republic) only provide for blond dye?

It wouldn't be surprising if the Kaminoans don't provide hair dye or the possibility (service or material/equipment) for the clones to get tattooed. They don't care about the clones and see them as property, not as living beings.

There is a conversation between Shaak Ti and the prime minister that highlights this:

So basically the Kaminoans don't care and wouldn't even hesitate to "cast off" clones they do not consider a success (makes you wonder how often that happened to clones before the Jedi arrived to oversee the training). And they are hinting that the cloning result is not always the same - so mutations might happen.

Which would mean that the blond clones we see might actually have blond hair instead of using a hair dye.

Of course Captain Rex could still dye his hair but it is possible that he has natural blond hair. As he is a generation one he wasn't affected by the dilution of Jangos DNA because at this time Jango was still alive. Meaning this mutation doesn't seem to be related to this.

On a side note - it seems we run into the (nearly) same group of cadets at two times - at Kamino during the attack (episode ARC-troopers) and during training on a Jedi Cruiser (episode death trap).

gonna go on a little mini tangent about nimona movie adaptation. it's gonna include lots of spoilers for the graphic novel so if you haven't read it yet (and you should!!) you can just scroll past spoiler free <3 anyways,

first off i am SO fucking pumped up about the nimona movie this is doing things to my middle school heart you have no idea <3 <3 <3 they're definitely branding it in the area of that kind of edgy but family friendly movie vibe that's been popular with certain projects lately (low key some parts of the trailer were giving me mitchells versus the machines while others were giving me the same energy as the bad guys, which is an interesting mix imo they're both good animated movies from the recent past but at the same time they're both tonally different in many ways not to mention very different tonally from the original nimona comic imo) and basically where i'm going with this is i hope they keep the original tone of the comic. the graphic novel does a really great job of shifting between lighthearted comedy and the complex emotions of the characters really well, especially with the twist at the end where we find out that nimona has been lying about her past the entire time (OGH that ending is SO GOOD it gives me chills just remembering the panel where we find out the story about the dragonslayer going after the shapeshifter and the rumors that the shapeshifter TOOK THE DRAGONSLAYERS PLACE??? AUGH those panels are burned into my mind forever). basically i am a little worried because of the marketing that they might soften the darkness associated with nimona's past/backstory or even change it entirely, but of course that's all speculation bc they could literally just be doing what the comic did which was market itself as really upbeat and silly modern fairytale twist and then turn around and make everything really fucking dark as the novel approaches the end of the second act and the beginning of the first act.

also when it comes to the character designs i am OBSESSED with blackheart and goldenloin the designs are SO!!!! not to mention the setting itself, they're definitely leaning into the futuristic aspect but i hope they keep a lot of the down to earth fantasy elements from the comic as well, i feel like nate did a really great job creating a world that is such a unique blend of ren fair fantasy tropes (for lack of a better term) and magical high tech inventions and it's something that i really hope doesn't get lost in the translation to the screen. obviously i can imagine that the show-y-ness of a cyberpunk-esque world is very visually appealing and also probably pretty fun to animate but i'm hoping they're teasing a lot of those dystopian sci fi visuals for the trailer because they get ppls attention and then they bring in a similar mix of the ren fair fantasy elements from the comic.

i hope they maintain nimona's whole gender vibe as the same sort of fluid energy that i got from her in the book, idk if it was just me but nimona reads as not only gnc but as a very nonbinary/genderfluid character and i always thought it was really cool how ready she was to shapeshift to different gender presentations in the comic.

this is more just on the curious musings side but i also wonder if they'll do the little bit where she dyes her hair purple?? its such a weird little moment in the comic i could see them deciding not to put it on screen but i think it'd be a cute nod to the book. or maybe they do a little bit of dialogue where she mentions to blackheart that she's thinking about changing her hair color and mentions purple, it'd just be cute i think <3

uhhh yeah i guess my biggest wonder about the movie rn is just how dark they're willing to take it, tonally? because the book gets DARK and ofc it's also aimed kinda at middle grade, just like the movie is, but what's allowed in middle grade books is very different from what's marketable in a middle grade family friend film. i really do hope they do the whole dark underbelly of the kingdom reveal, though, and the second act arc where nimona's true violent and chaotic nature starts to spiral out of ballister's control, and of course the unethical experimentation and the legend of the shapeshifter and nimona's entire story to ballister being a lie.....

AUGH i am going to get so emotional about this movie but yeah <3

Interviewing the Sorceress

She caught my eye with her colorful purple clothes, half her hair jet black and half white, and a collection of gold trinkets that had no obvious origin, such as a cyclops and a three headed alien. For privacy, her real name and location have been omitted, yet her van had an elaborate painting of a wizard surrounded by trees. She appears to be born in the 50s yet her energy is youthful and loose.

My dad fought in the Second World War, and he never shook that off, so I grew up a military brat. I went across the states but also Germany. And everywhere I went, I saw premonitions coming from anything at any time. I didn't think about them a lot until they came true. It started off small with what food would be in school or what buildings I'd see. You couldn't say this stuff out loud or you'd be labeled insane so I kept it inside like a good little patriot.

Then bombs showed up nearly every week, us being the "Duck and Cover" generation, and I had this growing anxiety that the world would end. It made me cold and violent toward anything and anyone, small or big. Why bother being good if the world would turn to fire and rubble before I could drive or get my first kiss?

My teenage years had me running away a lot, meeting outcasts, smoking, bussing with rock stars, joining protests, all that. I dabbled in tarot and psychedelics, but what I saw was different, more real. By the 70s, I'd go through these invisible doors that would open up.

When did you realize you were entering these doors?

They would be around corners: alleys, woods, interiors. I didn't feel anything change on my body, but I felt I was in a transient state. Like a caterpillar turning into mush in a chrysalis. Suddenly, I was no longer in my world. It was like being in an alien planet in those hokey B-movies. (laughs)

People looked the same, but the fashion was radical, people were teleporting in these phone booth things, and robots were much more life-like. And before I knew it, I'd flip back to the world of tie dye and an energy crisis.

Some people claim to be abducted by aliens. Do you think you experienced a similar fate?

Oh, goodness, no. I didn't see any little green or gray men. I always felt like I stayed on Earth. The free love movement and sexual revolution made the culture shock easier to absorb, but it was overwhelming at first. As the 80s went on, and progress was slowing down, I felt a longing to go back. I was so tired of people being cruel and dumb, getting obsessed with yuppie greed, settling down in unhappy marriages and jobs. Things were becoming hazy and I wondered if there was any optimism.

It took a few years before another door opened and I couldn't wait! Everything was even more futuristic. There was no smog, no poverty, no real divisions. People had magic, or some kind of advanced technology, where they could just create things out of thin air!

I spent so much time in that future, I left my old one for... I think, 8 years. In that time, I could feel the universe and grab all the atoms. They could be weaved and crafted like a sewing kit for any problem. Viruses, fuel shortages, broken bones, hunger, all gone. I didn't worry about survival like I used to, and I studied and traveled with all the time in the world. I even trained to be an astronaut!

I could see so much of the galaxy and beyond. Even in space, the most terrifying and lonely place, I felt secure knowing I was closer to knowing life in its entirety.

What made you decide to return here?

I didn't want to learn everything while I was still healthy. What else would I do besides get bored to death? I'm over 70 but I haven't felt this young before. All the regrets, shame, anger, confusion, and pessimism in my youth are so distant that they belong to someone who doesn't exist anymore.

What matters is that I keep doing new things, making the impossible happen, and delivering the truth to others. I know I seem like a crazy old lady, but you can find doors to enter if you turn your head around the corner, and discover a new way to live life when everything seems to drag you down.

What should fitz’s hair color in my band au

hmmmmm, this is an excellent question. we have basis in shannon's word for multiple hair colors:

-brown (natural hair color, duh)

-green (keefe and dex dyed his shampoo green which somehow made all of his hair neon green and spiky, if i recall correctly, in book 4)

-pink (shannon said, at one point, that if fitz could dye his hair, he'd dye it pink)

so if it were me, i'd pick one of those. depending on how much time the band au covers, you could have fitz's hair be different colors. gonna put me nerding out about colors and narrative stuff under the cut real quick. remember that this is just my thought process on approaching colors - if you're like, 'uh that's unnecessarily complicated,' then don't do it! no worries! pick and choose what you like.

the vibe of the fic in general plays a role in deciding which color you wanna go for.

green has an association with death, since elves wear that to funerals. that doesn't have to apply to your fic, but bringing that mindset in one way or another could be a nice tie-back to canon. green is also the color of life. the emotional connotation of green, in the books, is very complex. it's bittersweet. different hues of green also say different things. neon green, like it was in book 4, is electric. it's loud and bright and it screams, look at me. look at the energy i have. look at all the ways i could shock you. on the other hand, if you went for a more chill shade - like shamrock green - it'd be a lot closer to canon's emotional connotation of green. you could potentially do mint green as well without going way off from canon basis, since fitz likes the flavor of mint, and it'd be kinda funny for him to be like 'yeahhhh so the reason i dyed my hair this color is because it's color of my favorite dessert flavor. biana shut up and stop laughing or i'll drop you into a trash can.' the environment fitz is in could also affect how people (including himself) view the different shades of green. younger generations tend to think of dyed hair as sick af, but older generations usually think dyed hair is weird (/neg).

also, a little bit of storytime - once upon a time, i wanted to dye my hair green, and the shade i wanted wasn't mint green. both my grandma and mom both went 'if you go with any other shade than mint, you're gonna look like a stoner with mental health issues.' (paraphrased.) so uh. yeah.

i said a while back that i'd write an essay on the symbolism of pink haired!fitz, but i haven't done it yet, so i'm not gonna spoil everything i wanna say there. but keep in mind that pink is a color that has a feminine connotation with the general populace, whereas green has a gender neutral connotation with the general populace. obviously, colors don't have gender, but your band au might have fitz in a position of fame, so i thought you might wanna keep it in mind. anyway. back to pink. fitz choosing pink feels more like a statement than him picking green. in canon, green was an accident that he looked at and went 'oh hey, this actually doesn't suck too bad? i kinda like this?'. pink isn't canon canon (yet, i hope) but it feels more like a choice. it feels like him going, 'this is a color that i'm not supposed to like, but i do. so i'm gonna make it a part of me, and you can't stop me.' like with green, and every other color ever, different hues of pink have different vibes. baby pink is gentle. hot pink has the same vibe as neon green, except a bit more feminine. darker pink is a little less jarring than the other two shades, compared to his natural hair color. a bit more chill. a warmer vibe than shamrock. a little more welcoming.

and then, of course, you could just keep it brown the whole fic. that's understandable.

see, now this is probably where i'm supposed to go, 'yeahhh this is really long so i'm just gonna stop now. hope this helps!' but nah bro. nah. i have a bit more to say and i'm making it your problem :)

what i have in mind that i'd like to talk about is timelines. i have no idea how long your band au is stretching out, in terms of word count and time placement. i have no idea if there are any flashbacks or memories or non-linear narrative things going on. and so i am bringing timelines to the table.

let's start with thinking about the timeline we might have in canon, when it comes to fitz's hair. we have brown, green very briefly, back to brown, and maybe if shannon lets fitz dye his hair a color he chooses, pink at the end. if you want to have fitz's hair be different colors at different times in this universe, you could use a template similar to that. or you could do something entirely different, depending on the events you have in mind! maybe fitz never gets green hair, and goes straight to pink. maybe fitz gets green hair, and decides to keep it and never goes to pink. maybe fitz never dyes it at all, because he's comfortable with brown. it's up to you!

Hi, thank you for the ask!! Coming right for my newest character :D

Just a heads up, Teva's been floating around in my head as "non-pronouns with left beef" for like 4 months now. For readability's sake I'll use they/them but honest to god I do not know what's up with this Charr's gender. Like. Nothing and everything at once.

Ahem, anyway:

2. Did you design them with any other characters/OCs from their universe in mind? 

Not initially, but fairly soon after their creation I decided they'd be somehow connected to my Charr scrapper Leto! And I believe originally I had previewed a lot of black dyes for their armour's look but then decided to go with a white colour scheme to contrast Leto's really dark design. Also overall it just looked much better, and also fits the character better.

6. Is there any significance behind their eye color? 

That's actually an interesting question for Teva!! The eye colour is one of the very last things I settled on after I had already decided on everything else (minus one shade darker or lighter for the base fur).

My original plan was a pale pink colour for the eyes because it honestly just looked really nice in combination with the rest of the colours. But then there was the blue magic of the Olmakhan horns, and I was starting to have ley energy brainworms again and... yea. Decided for a really bright blue then!

I'm still undecided if blue is Teva's natural eye colour or if it's a result of ley energy experiments. I guess at the very least the magic enhanced the colour (if it didn't change it entirely).

12. What have you found to be most difficult about creating art for your OC (any form of art: writing, drawing, edits, etc.)? 

Honestly I haven't created much yet at all;; I've taken a few screenshots / made some gifs but haven't encountered any specific issues other than me being really bad at getting decent angles of Charr in general.

In general Teva's still a bit of a vague haze of loose concepts and personality traits in my head, I hope to be able to share more in the future!!

Chapter Four

Lorelei’s POV:

I sit on the bed painting my nails gold with my hair up in a cap. I redyed my hair a darker shade of black. I check the time.

20 more minutes to go.

"What the bloody hell is that awful stench?" A voice asks

Careful not to ruin the paint on my toes, I get off the bed and walk over to the balcony that oversees the foyer.

Rebeka stands there with a grossed out expression on her face.

"It's hair dye and nail polish." I say

She looks up at me.

"Can't you just compel some poor sap to do it for you?" She asks

I hadn't thought of that.

"I guess but I'd rather do it myself." I reply

She rolls her eyes.

"There's going to be a party tonight in the French Quarter. Are you attending?" She asks

This time it's my turn to roll my eyes.

"If Nik allows it. Training has been going good but I still haven't got my appetite under control." I answer

"I think we could convince him." She says with a smile that screams trouble.

Klaus walks in off the street.

Speak of the devil.

I speed down to stand next to Rebekah.

I look down and realize I messed up my nails.

"Shit." I mutter

Rebekah notices and looks down.

"Lovely. The torture just never ends." She says

Klaus looks from her to me then continues walking.

"Nik wait." I say

He stops and turns around.

"There's a party tonight and I want to go." I say quickly

"No. I can't trust you to not eat the entertainment." He says and turns back around to leave.

"I'll watch over her." Rebekah says

He sighs.

"Are you going to pester me about it all night?" He asks Rebekah

She gives him a smile.

"Very well. But if there's so much as one incident she comes back here." He says then looks at me. "And stays here."

I nod and he turns and goes into the study.

I look at Rebekah and smile.

Our relationship has changed in the past few years. In the beginning we couldn't stand one another. Klaus had made it clear that despite his sister's reservations that it wasn't up for discussion and I was here to stay.

Flashback:

The doors of the house are open as I paint the white stairs and railings. Nik sits on the couch reading a book. Rebekah walks in with a shopping bag in her hand and removes the sunglasses from her nose and places them on top of her head.

"You missed a spot." She says

I turn around. She's talking about last chunk of the railing.

"That's because I haven't finished it yet." I growl

"Rebekah love, let Lorelei finish out her punishment in peace." Klaus says from the couch.

"Why white? It'll get disgusting. Paint it a different color." She says

I sigh, drop the brush in the bucket and turn around.

"I'm not a maid Rebekah. And I don't take orders from you." I hiss

Her face changes showing her vampire side.

"Watch how you speak to me." She warns

"You're lucky your family. Nobody else would give you the time of day." I shoot back

"Nik get your bitch in line." Rebekah says to her older brother.

Nik sighs and stands up. He walks over and I tense up. I'm already in enough trouble. He turns to face his sister.

"She does not belong to you little sister. You do not tell her what she can and cannot do." He says

She glares at him and walks away to another room of the house.

Klaus turns around to face me.

"You love, you need to not fight with Rebekah." He says

"I didn't start anything. She did."

"Yes and I finished it. Now when you're done, you're going to sit down and I don't want to hear a word out of you for the rest of the evening." He says

I open my mouth to speak but he shouts me a look. I decide against it.

"Now then. Back to it." He says

I glare at him then turn and continue painting. He stands there a moment then goes back to the couch.

"Lorelei." Rebekah says

"Hm?" I ask

"I've been calling your name. Where'd you go just then?" She asks

"I was just thinking about when we'd first met." I say shrugging

Three hours later I have a body hugging black dress with silver sparkles imbedded that shimmer every time I move.

Rebekah picks out a wine red leather dress. While she puts on her lipstick I straighten my hair. She scoffs.

"What?" I ask

"You look a lot like Elena Gilbert dressed like that." She says

"Who's that?" I ask

"A girl from Mystic Falls Virginia. She and the Salvatore brothers tried to end us all once upon a time." She says

"And you let them live?" I ask

"It's complicated."

"No it isn't."

She turns to me.

"We're out to have a fun night. Let's go."

We exit and go into the French Quarter. As we're walking down an alley, I look around. Seeing nobody, I snap Rebekah's neck. She crumples to the ground. I take off into the woods to Virginia.

I walk in the right side of the road and cross into Mystic Falls. My phone rings and I pull it out of my pocket.

Klaus.

I silence my phone and stick it back in my pocket.

I continue my way into town and stop when I see her.

A girl with long straight brown hair, red top, black leather jacket and dark blue jeans.

Elena Gilbert.

I'd looked all of them up on my way here to get a physical description.

I vamp speed towards her, slamming her into a nearby wall. She yells out and freezes, stunned. She looks up at me.

"What are you doing? Who are you?" She asks

"My name is Lorelei and you are a big problem for me Elena Gilbert."

Before she can say another word I put my hand over her mouth and we take off quickly.

though it's basically an extension of the scene from the manga (probably to make the episode longer) so it's arguable to consider it canon.

it's still pretty in character of gintoki.

it was episode 136.

gintoki & madao were trying to find a temporary place for madao to stay since his wife was coming to visit.

they were finally shown a clearly haunted hotel room that looked like a recent murder scene.

gintoki was trying to convince madao into staying at the hotel by comparing rooms with women by saying good rooms & women have already been 'done'.

he said and I quote,

he goes on to say how the girl must've gotten with some loser over summer vacation (hence being 'done').

and how you wouldn't try and ask what happened over summer break.

because it'd be a huge turn off.

of course he doesn’t recognize his joui crush or know who they are until they introduce themselves again. 

he’s glad to see someone else other than katsura, sakamoto, and takasugi who survived the war.

he obviously notices it, but just doesn't say anything about it.

probably assumes they got with some loser. lol

he’s making his way to ikumatsu’s ramen shop when his joui war crush sees him. 

ah yes, one of my favorite dumbasses. 

also doesn’t recognize them until they introduce themselves. 

tbh all of the joui 4 boys don’t recognize them (not even their voice) because so much happened during the war. 

people were dying in battle, shoka sonjuku boys lost their sensei, and sakamoto lost his ability to wield a sword.

also surprised and glad to see someone other than gintoki, sakamoto, and takasugi who survived the war. 

he’ll comment on the new look. 

“you look so different (y/n)-chan. why did you dye your hair? is there another rebel faction other than the moderates and kiheitai? please join us and forget about that extremist taka-” 

they need stop to him and give the actual reason why they dyed their hair before he can go any further.

he’ll just nod his head.

“I see, well you look good (y/n)-chan.”

“thank you katsura-kun.”

as they’re just about to ask if there’s a way to keep in touch, the shinsengumi pop up ready to arrest katsura. 

he’s on the run yet again.

he has just walked out when his joui war crush spots him.

given his joui war crush is a former joui rebel and has had to live quietly in order to avoid attention from the bakufu.

traveling through space doesn't sound like a bad idea.

it's honestly pure coincidence how him and his joui crush manage to cross paths.

he decided to take a stroll in some isolated town quietly blending in with the crowd.

most likely on his way to a meeting with an amanto or corrupt bakufu official.

when his joui crush is able to spot him.

considering his guard is constantly up due to being one of the most wanted criminals.

he is cautious at first when his joui crush approaches him.

after all acting like a joui rebel wouldn't be a surprising strategy for a spy.

it'll take a little convincing before it finally hits him that this is actually who they say they are.

once it does he somewhat teases them about changing their hair color.

"my, I didn't even recognize you (y/n)-chan. you dye your hair so the bakufu wouldn’t recognize you as a former joui rebel?"

he’s not wrong a benefit of having dyed their hair is that it's a good disguise.

"ah not necessarily. it's actually because (reasons why)."

he'll just nod before saying goodbye and how he enjoyed talking with them.

he can't talk for long, he's got places to be and people he doesn't want to see him.

if they ask about his eye, he'll dismiss the topic (for understandable reasons).

if they ask for a way to keep in touch he'll warn them of the dangers it'll bring.

"I'm a wanted criminal, I have no use for cell phones. Besides, you sure you want to keep in touch with me (y/n)-chan?"

he's basically making an offer to join him in a way.

it's all up to whether or not his joui crush wants to let go of the past or keep fighting the same way he is.

I'm at the museum right now for the end of the bowl and oyster roast. And it's been such a fun night. I'm very tired. But not in the normal way. Mostly cuz I have had multiple caffeinated beverages in the last hour.

Today was really nice. I did not go to sleep last night until like 2:00 a.m. I was really sweaty and I couldn't get comfortable. But once I did sleep it was pretty good. I woke up and was not thrilled. James went for a bike ride and I was able to get back to sleep and was in bed until 9:30. James came in bed with me and that's why I wanted for breakfast. I requested an omelette and hash browns. And eventually I got up.

Once I get up I went and decided I was going to wash my hair. James said that I have plenty of time so that's what I did. Make me feel a lot better. I got dressed and felt very cute. My hair is kind of being weird today but it's fine. I probably need to use a clarifying shampoo next time. And I might diet later this week. We will see.

I was tired though. Once we had breakfast I felt a little bit better but I wasn't my best.

But I was really looking forward to spending some time at the art museum with James. We were going to the Walters where I haven't been since I think 2019. And I was really looking forward to it. I was slightly disappointed when I found that the third floor was closed. It has one of my favorite exhibits. But it was closed because they're doing a new install and they took some of the pieces for a special exhibit on the 19th century.

And that ended up being my favorite part of the day. I loved going to Mount Vernon one which is the home part of the building and I like the religious artwork good enough. But it was fun listening to James and talking and James had weird energy. We kept joking that they were let out of their enclosure for a rare Saturday and so their energy was weird. But they were still fun to be around and once we got to the 19th century exhibit I was really excited about the way they curated it. It was all based around themes rather than time period or artist. So they had a section about greenery and peace and more and home and children and animals. And it was just the best. And there was pieces I've never seen before. So that was really cool. And I hadn't really nice time looking at everything.

We were there for a while and once we finished looking at everything we wanted to see me and James decided we would drive over to the craft store so I can get the dye for my resin to try coloring it that way. And then we would go to five guys.

It's kind of a long drive to that Target shopping center. Honestly you could make it to the one on the county and the same amount of time. But we got over there and we found The guy I wanted pretty quickly. I had a good time looking at all the other junk and we ended up finding peppermint peeps on 90% off clearance. So they were 34 cents. And James had a coupon so my dye was only $11.

We went over to five guys next and we ate our food and talked about our honeymoon and things that we wanted to accomplish. Packing goals and things like that. We still need to get our plane tickets for Chicago and that's supposed to be a wedding gift from Brandon and I'm not sure what his plan is but it's making me very stressed out that I don't know yet. It's not until May so we definitely have time but I am still worried. But I'm always worried when it comes to travel. I need everything to be planned so that I don't have to think once it actually happens.

It was the middle of the afternoon though and we needed to be at the museum at 4:00 so I really wanted to get a little bit of rest. We went home and it was very windy. But James decided that they still wanted to go for a bike ride. And I would lay down.

For an hour. And when I woke up I felt kind of groggy but a lot better. I got dressed again and fixed my eyeliner. Tried to get my hair to be less fluffy and then James made a coffee and we headed out.

We got to the museum and everything was already in full swing setup wise. Museum had been closed today so that they could get all of this ready. And we got our instructions and soon we were rolling. I was paired with Deborah's husband Jonathan and we were in charge of the wagon of Cheer. Which is a wagon filled with alcohol. And it was a raffle and people got to bid on it and it was super fun because I got to yell all night trying to get people to buy tickets. And dragging the wagon around and I got very sweaty doing that but it was really fun. We had some time before the event actually started though so I was wondering around and troubleshooting things and trying to help out and I got to see Stanley all dressed up and looking snazzy. And it was really nice. Everyone's great.

Even though they're very stressed. I had one point tonight where someone talked to me a little snappy and I was not thrilled so I just walked away. But everybody else has been wonderful. And Jonathan was nice enough to swap dinners with me so me and James could have dinner together.

The event itself was supposed to start at 6:00 but we haven't early bird in at 5:30. And I was surprised by the amount people that came in that early. Let me and Jonathan stay by the door and we would carnival call getting people to come and buy tickets for the raffle. And then people would head around to actually bid on the auction items. And it was cool seeing all the stuff that people donated. I told Deborah I was surprised no one asked me to donate any art and she was like we didn't even think of that and now they want me to donate art next year. So that's cool.

And for your life had a really good night. People have been wonderful and I've had some really nice talks with people. I've met quite a few board members. I got to explain to them what I do and all of my workshops that I want to leave and that I have been leading successfully for the museum. And I got to talk to some of our friends from around the neighborhood that I know from the market. And some just awesome guests that I got to tell fun facts too. I got to walk around with the wagon which was very heavy but it was fun to pull up and down and just kind of be a good business person. And I had fun

7:30 me and James got together to have dinner. I had a salad and a roll and mac and cheese. I tried to have a pickle but it didn't taste good. Not even sure what the flavor was supposed to be but I did not enjoy it. But mac and cheese was really good and I had a soda and felt a lot better.

Kristen and Brandon were in charge of the other raffle which was a 50/50 raffle and they were a little overwhelmed by how many tickets they had. And they had to tear them all so they brought them to the table that we were eating dinner at and we helped tear them so that they wouldn't fall so far behind. And beyond that I've been having really a lot of fun.

A little bit but we're nine I ended up talking to some people about the museum and my workshops and I got to have some cake. And I did one last walkthrough and had a really nice conversation with a couple. Who said they're very interested in doing my workshops and that was really cool. I was really excited to be done. That it was successful and it was great.

It's after 9:30 now surprise that there is music still happening and there are a bunch of people here. I was supposed to be done at 10:00 and it doesn't look like what's going to happen. So I'm sitting in the back doing this post so that I can go and help clear all the tables off once the people are gone.

And once everything is cleaned up me and James will go home and try to get some rest before they have to wake up at 7:00 to come back here to the museum for the church. And I will work on cleaning the apartment and I have a bunch of selling I need to do. I also want to try some of my bears with the new dye and see what happens. And then I just want to enjoy my day because I have a very busy week this week. I'm lucky this month that even though I'm busy every single day during the week most of my weekends are pretty open for the first few weeks. I tried to build in days off for myself so that I'm not overwhelming my entire person.

Many. So, so many.

I have a bad habit of starting projects and not finishing them, so I have a plethora scattered throughout my Google Docs files that are anywhere from multiple pages of unposted fic, all the way down to single-sentence unused prompts. Sometimes I left them behind because I lost motivation, sometimes my hyperfixation shifted and I (sadly) couldn't focus on that fandom anymore.

But let's see...uh....I glanced through my older stuff first just to see. But for now I think I'm just gonna count what I'm either actively working on, or what I wish to continue when my motivation returns...because if you counted all the abandoned WIP's I've gathered over the years, I think the number would be close to 30, and I don't want to list them all up here. (Maybe I'll drop it at the bottom of this post if you're curious***)

For one, I have two IronDad fics I plan on finishing: one that's a shorter Mafia AU that's 2/3 complete, and a much longer (and heftier) multi-chapter fic that has been awaiting a new chapter for over a year I think. A Little Late On The Blood Work my beloved...I'll come back when I get inspiration again 🥺💞 I also have an old Jacksepticeye Egos fic called #SamLives that I've been wanting to continue for ages but haven't, along with a Night at the Museum fic (Jedtavius) that I at least need to finish the current arc for because the comment section is sad.

And MOST recently I've got a bunch for Hermitcraft/Empires/Traffic Life that I'm in the process of actively writing...which I believe add up to a total of six?? I think? THREE are partially posted/being updated (Through a Crack in the Void, Domino Effect, There's Not a Word Yet), and the OTHER three (two Team Rancher, one that's literally Every Ship Under The Sun With Some Found Family On Top) aren't gonna be on my plate until I finish some of the other ones.

17. Do you have a writing routine?

Not really! Usually once I get an idea, I just - jump in. If I get stuck and want to skip something just to keep the writing ball rolling, I'll throw one of these in the middle of the page: ASDJNAKFBEKAJBA ...and just leave it for later. It's bold, red, and easy to spot when I'm scrolling through a long document, which is nice! It helps make sure no blank spots get missed in editing! (I also red-dye words, sentences, or paragraphs I'm feeling shaky on, so I can spot them easily and come back later when I get a better idea to fix it.) And if I decide to completely change a section I'm writing, I'll often copy the original version, paste it at the bottom of the doc in case I decide to change it back, and turn it a pastel color so I don't confuse old versions for the current text.

I also sometimes make calendars on Excel/Sheets if I really wanna keep track of time, and I often have a separate (and somewhat disorganized) doc for Notes on my longer fics. There's also a document where I write down potential lyrics options for There's Not a Word Yet chapter titles, but that's the only time I've done that for a fic.

43. Is there a trope or idea that you’d really like to write but haven’t yet?

I feel like someone asked me this a while back, so I've definitely thought about this! But honestly? A mystery or a time-travel fix-it...which I am well aware are two VASTLY different tropes lmao.

I've always been envious and in awe of well-written mystery/detective stories, because so many little details go into them to make them work. I'd love to build one of my own someday, but I have yet to find the right motivation to do so.

As far as time-travel fix-its go...they're just...they're so fun to read, because I love to see how one little change can affect an entire timeline (see also: Domino Effect) but they're also a LOT of work to write because it involved basically retelling a story that's already been written but in your own words and with a twist. Somehow writing something fully original comes easier to me than trying to build my writing around something else that already exists. But god I'd love to have the motivation to write one of 'em anyway! It'd be fun to decide how everything changes all because of one little difference in choice :3

I'd love to continue that one. And the LAST one is a Double-Life-based Witches/Familiars AU that started as Renchanting Duo and has since extended to every member of the Life series and even some Hermits.)

***ALL THE OLDER FICS I HAVE YET TO COMPLETE: I've got one for Doctor Who, a handful for JSE Egos - #SamLives - one for Night at the Museum, one for Encanto. Six for Marvel/IronDad (including a Mafia fic, a SPN AU, a Peter-gets-shot and Tony-goes-dad-mode hurt/comfort, and A Little Late On the Blood Work which as I said I'm just longing to get inspiration to return to). A witch/familiar Supernatural AU fic and an SPN time travel fix-it that I barely started. There's a TangoTek one-shot I've abandoned featuring his rage moments from both LL and DL. I also have an old fic from high school for a game called Ib that I'd love to revamp someday...and my Original FanFic that started it all, which was for Harry Potter, and I was like 12, and it will never EVER see the light of day. My god. It's...it's rough.

🌑🔮🎨 for Pirates AND Eventide!

☠ FOR PIRATES:

🌑 - Is there reoccurring symbolism? Motifs?

There are some reoccurring motifs that are specific to characters and also religious elements inside of the universe. With Grey, he's always going to carry the wolf/dog motif with him wherever he goes, in stature and physically in the shape of his tattoos. Skeletons are also another motif that can be associated with him, because for many people who have encountered him or heard tales about him, there's a huge superstition that follows him around that he is deathless and undying.

I haven't decided on motifs for Ave yet, but the greater motifs and symbolism linked with the sea and the religion of those seafarers follow the story a lot as well. The sign of the higher power of the sea has always been a nautilus shell notched with eyes at every bend and a skeletal hand emerging from the opening. A lot of ships will have shrines with a nautilus structure at the center, and offerings will be placed into the hand.

Followers of the land-based Goldfaith religion will dip and dye the tips of their fingers gold in worship, so that's another motif of that religion you see a lot. There are lesser worshipped gods inside of the Goldfaith that also have their own individual motifs.

🔮 - Is there a magic system? Explain how it works

Magic in the pirates universe is extremely subtle to the point that you would miss it altogether unless you were directly touched by it or very near to someone who was.

Religion plays a heavy part in the universe, between the land-based and centralized Goldfaith and the older, less organized belief system of the seafarers. There are higher powers behind each of these religions, but they're so abstract and absent that it's completely unrealistic for most people to believe they interact with the physical world at all. But there are certain people for which those powers will give blessings too, or very subtle gifts, sometimes without them even knowing it.

For Grey, who was born, raised, and in a way very quiet and subdued, worships the sea and her godhood above all else, he's unable to drown. That's a blessing from the sea on him, but not in any kind way. Grey still feels like he's drowning when he's underwater, but the sea won't kill him. Even people who've seen him go under and come back up way too long afterward don't really believe it's magic, necessarily. They think of him as something superstitious instead, like a man who's not quite human.

And then of course there's Lauren, who follows the Goldfaith and prays to the Trinity Gods. His blessings are also incredibly subtle--things like clean healing (not accelerated healing, he still heals like a normal human--but his wounds don't get infected, he doesn't take crippling fevers, etc) and uncanny knowledge of truthful people versus liars are boons he's been granted.

It's a very subtle system, and in a way, there's no rhyme or reason to it. None that the people inside of the universe could explain. Sometimes, beyond all reason, someone somewhere comes close enough to brush against another power in the universe, whether it's Grey and the sea who raised him or Lauren and the faith that he asked for power, and something comes of it so quietly no one even notices at all.

🎨 - What colors or textures do you associate with the wip?

All shades of fluorite tbh, and steel greys, blacks, silvers, and blues. Deep emerald and anything that reminds me of the sea, really. As far as textures go, this wip is something where it's either rough spun textures like worn down cotton and rough wool, smooth wood, and the very soft, light touch of old shirts that have been worn for years and years and years, completely imbued with the faintest fragrance of who they belong to.

🌙 FOR ENCHANTED:

🌑 - Is there reoccurring symbolism? Motifs?

Yes! With Enchanted on a broad scale, a big motif are the celestial swans and the swan motif. These creatures will migrate from the realm of eternal sunlight, Adrien, to the realm of eternal night, Alexandria. Because of their long migrations and dedication to returning home at the end of the seasons, they're seen as symbols of love and devotion by many in both courts.

For Hamara specifically, the Land of Dusk, the fox is a HUGE motif for them. Their king, after all, is called the Fox King, and they're supposed to be a land full of tricksters (though that's mostly outside perception and these losers just like partying more often than not)

Each planetary god also has their own individual motifs too that are tied into their kingdoms inside of Adrien!

🔮 - Is there a magic system? Explain how it works

There is lol but honestly this is such a soft fantasy that the magic system is VERY loose here! The planetary gods have by far the most power, because they're creatures that were born from the heart of their respective planets as celestial representations of their existence. Atticus, Heir Jupiter, was born from the heart of Jupiter itself. He controls storms and the weather on scales that no one else in Tolemia can. Another example is Kessel, Heir Gaia, who was born from the heart of "Gaia/Earth" (but it's not called earth or gaia anymore LMAOOOO leave me be) and has creation powers as a result.

Meanwhile, lesser celestials (not gods: just kinda your average immortal hanging out in Tolemia) are capable of varying degrees of magic ranging from weaker to more powerful. There's not a hard system in place for it--my focus with this wip was never to make a hard magic system for myself to follow. Celestials can do spells and other minor acts of magic though!

Meanwhile humans in Thalassia are still bamboozled by local god on the hill who keeps making weird shit.

🎨 - What colors or textures do you associate with the wip?

Soft pinks, gentle sunset colors, rosy golds and sweet ambers. Anything cream and comforting. This wip really is just meant to be a big warm blanket to hold around your shoulders, or a really soft cardigan to slip into to stay warm.

i totally understand where you're coming from. so i've already written in a few parts of it but intend on revealing more pieces as they open up more to each other. i feel like maybe what i've included so far is a little broken up, so i'll put it together here for ya. i don't think they've changed that much, mostly just cosmetic things.

EDIT: this art is heavy inspiration!

kazuichi: i'm not using his shark teeth, sorry!! i just couldn't make that part feel realistic, especially if he'd had them in high school. but my headcanon was that he had pretty crooked teeth in school; and is just now using an invisalign that's helped a lot. he's kept his hair pink af (though i imagine he's experimented with the exact shade of pink), and it goes quite a bit past his shoulders now, i would say definitely over his shoulderblades. he's experimented with styling it in new ways, mostly with different kinds of braids—i detailed the style during nagito's party as half-up, half-down, with the up portion being in a regular 3-strand braid. he bleaches and dyes his eyebrows too, to match, but he also fills them in a bit with makeup. he has an eyebrow piercing, and a septum piercing, both of which he usually just wears a simple barbell in. he wears a larger gauge in his earlobes (nothing massive) and a collection of piercings in each ear. i like the idea of an industrial and a daith in one ear, and a couple helixes and a forward helix on the other. i haven't 100% decided yet on all the exact ear piercings but the industrial and daith will definitely be there. he's pretty tan and he has some freckles, especially across his nose, cheekbones, and forehead—this is a change since he lives next to a beach now and spends a lot of his free time outside, while he was confined to a city for so long before! also, here's a sneak peek: he's pretty fit, because in the time since he's moved down to minamitane, he's taken up surfing!! he's still a little bit of a fashion disaster lowkey, but he's kinda had to tone it down a bit so he wears more boring "grownup" office clothes for work. he has a few tattoos, though they're all pretty much covered by clothing. we'll definitely get to those eventually, though, as well as his other piercings: both his nipples! chiaki is right, he definitely sets off metal detectors.

gundam: biggest change is the hairstyle!!!! as i detailed in the fic, it's no longer up in the ice cream swoop. i believe in floppy hair gundam supremacy, so it's a lot like the dr3 anime tbh. i love the middle part, and i'm keeping the undercut as well. he found something that worked for him and stuck to it. he does have those bigger streaks in the front of his hair, though they're white due to his poliosis; and he has some premature gray hair too. another big change is the eye color! controversial, maybe, but i'm going with the gray and red both having been color contacts, and his natural eye color is closer to a medium-dark brown. he'll sometimes wear gray in both but i feel like his eyes tend to get irritated by contacts now, haha. also: the "facial scar" was just his dramatic-ass makeup during high school!! no more "scar"!!! he does like a tasteful smokey eye though, even if it does make him look more tired. he stopped wearing the scarf a while ago, since it got in the way while he's working; although sometimes you might catch him pulling the collar of his shirt up to cover his face when he's extremely embarrassed, hehe. he's still pale and built as HELL (we stan gundam's giant tiddies here). no bandages either, but i'll give you another sneak peek: he has sleeve tattoos!!! i'll go into more detail in the next chapter but yes. he's also still a goth, but like, more refined and simplified most of the time? so at nagito's bday he was probably wearing something like a black turtleneck and black pants.

sonia: shorter hair, technically, though still around her waist. also love the idea of her being a liiiittle bit chubbier. 🥰

chiaki: no real changes.

nagito: no real changes.

hajime: no real changes. he's never been crazy about styling his hair a specific way. honestly he's not that obsessed with his own appearance.

fuyuhiko: no real changes, possibly incapable of aging? he might not have those lil designs shaved into his head anymore. he may have lost a little baby fat in his cheeks but otherwise this guy is hiding the fountain of youth.

peko: she's graduated from the girlish dual braids and ribbons, to a more refined look. think sleek, high ponytail; or a single dutch braid. occasional dual french braids. smaller glasses frames, though she's stuck with the rectangular shape. also looks fine as hell in a suit.

i'll be having more characters added eventually, and will be writing in any descriptions of changes! i'll just say that i, personally, have changed very little in appearance since i graduated high school 10 years ago—the main differences being that my hair is a different length, i'm better at makeup, and my nose is pierced (i'm also fatter and have a couple tattoos). so generally everybody is pretty recognizable, there's just some style changes!

RiFT! all good? I hope so! Remember our conversation about the possible existence of a Bert son of Regal? then! I improved this idea!

Firstly, let's do him before he "rebellion" (I was going to do a version of him in the Picrew, but I decided to describe it) a skinny boy with somewhat pale skin, but his freckles give him a little life, in contrast to he's dark circles, his loose hair reaches up to his shoulder, I don't know if Bert's hair is curly or simply something unknown to me, but it's the same color as his father's hair, before he "rebellion" he was all about "doing it for my father" "getting this for my father" "help my father" "do you know my father?" "live for my father" "father"

he had no personality, he had no interests, he couldn't live if it weren't for his father, but that changed when he met Lan, well, it took a long process, but he finally rebelled, hehehe

rebellious now, he dyes his hair red and starts wearing his hair tied up, and now he has personality! insecure, courageous, intelligent, whiny, stressed (when pressured), kind, affectionate, and doesn't miss the opportunity to take something from his father, like LaserMan.EXE!!

(as I unfortunately haven't seen anything from BN, I could be wrong about what I'm going to say now, corrections are totally accepted here!) Before MegaMan.EXE deletes Laser, Bert stops him, and they even think he was a cheater, but no, he just shut down Laser, and then restarted him, changing certain aspects of his personality, and then making him his operator!

I also think about a friendly relationship between Bert and Coronel.EXE, more because of Baryl, but nothing is certain yet

but the thing I most like to think about this Bert is the relationship between grandson and grandfather with Wily!

for now, I can only imagine Wily singing "Mother (grandpa?) knows best" from Tangled, more specifically the rerun
