okay so it's a little long and complicated (and my memory is kinda. bad) but i'll try my best to explain it!!

okay so basically like last april i believe (so like. really drummy achey time) jm went on a miz.kif's stream and not only did m discuss droxxes but also the topic of george fangirls came on and. well. jm read a tumblr post made by [REDACTED] and then kept commenting that all george fans are 15-year-old girls and was generally very condescending and unkind (in my opinion.) after the stream, many people were rightfully upset and tried to explain why it came across as misogynistic and hurtful. then, jm decided to go on stream to 'address the drama' and, istg, he came on and said that he said nothing wrong, he is not a misogynist by any means and people who got upset are the ones who actually are misogynistic and especially have internalized misogyny. so yeah.

also i think that a lot of people don't appreciate the gogy bit he does and generally find him off-putting. but yeah, i remember watching his "apology" stream (there was no apology) and feeling so deeply disgusted that blocked him on everything lmao

I want Tomura to be rewinded but not till he is back to 5 years old, just till the time he got the AFO quirk and physical enhancements. This way he can be saved from AFO's clutches completely and people will not imprison him in the future in a similar way to AFO because of his power (restricted to chair with cameras monitoring his every little movement) Because I can't see a way out of this if he survives and stays the way he is right now. Even if Deku saves him people won't feel safe because of his power and his past and he will be imprisoned. Another option would be sacrificing himself and dying after Deku saves him and I don't want that either.

first of all sorry i'm answering this so late, i started writing up a response last night, got distracted, and fell asleep 😭

so i get what you're saying, but to be honest i think somehow some way the "all for one" quirk won't be a thing anymore by the end of the series. don't ask me how it'll happen because i couldn't tell you, but i don't think tomura or afo himself will have that quirk anymore by the time series ends.

as for eri, i didn't mind her using rewind on mirio because i knew it was something that would happen the moment he lost his quirk. it was hinted at for a while and at that point it was mostly just a waiting game to see when mirio would be back in action. i'm not ruling out the possibility of eri using her quirk on one of the villains, but we also have to remember that she doesn't have very good control over it yet and it's not an easy thing for her to do. she did good with mirio yes, but i don't think that means her quirk should be used whenever.

a big part of me is saying that tomura probably won't be thrown in jail, but hori could surprise me. the one thing that makes me question an ending where he's imprisoned is that japan's top security prison had a shit ton of human rights violations and the people there did not view any of the inmates as human beings (even the ones who weren't nearly as bad as afo). if deku threw tomura into tartarus or another prison like tartarus (i think it would be naive to assume tartarus is the only prison with human rights violations), regardless of whether you think tomura deserves it or not, i feel like that would be an odd choice (and that's putting it delicately) after tartarus was shown to be a prison that did not treat its inmates as humans (and villains not being treated like humans in this series is one of the main reasons they become villains). if deku actually cares about hearing villains out and understanding their perspective (which i genuinely believe he does btw), throwing one of them into a prison that won't treat him like a human being would be an odd way of showing that.

and as for the possibility of tomura dying- i prefer not to think about it and to continue hoping for a happy or at least semi-happy ending for him. i've learned the hard way to never be 100% confident that your favorite character will get the ending they deserve, but im choosing to be cautiously optimistic this time for my own sake.

i believe tomura will live because i think all of this talk about deku saving him would end up being pointless if he dies. killing tomura off to teach deku a harsh lesson about how not everyone can be saved is not something i'd expect to see from a series like mha.

Hi! you're not wrong, but this is a different situation!

Generally speaking, alpha and beta can be either position descriptors or stereodescriptors, both of which are used in a number of different ways.

Position descriptors can refer to

the distance from a carbonyl (or other functional groups depending on the context). It's the one you're already familiar with :)

the bridgehead carbons in rings (urgh i hate those). Tbf they're technically latin characters a/b/... but it's not unusual to use the latin character for alphas and betas as well for practical reasons and it can be a little confusing

As stereodescriptors they're are a little trickier, because it could be

to describe the configuration at the anomeric carbon of a sugar

as per CAS (and I'm almost certain also IUPAC) nomenclature, alpha and beta are used to describe the configuration of a cyclic/polycyclic molecule with several stereogenic centres where the alpha side of the molecule plane is the side on which the substitutent with CIP priorities lies at the lowest numbered stereogenic centre (the opposite side is beta). It's the most ‘general’ and unambiguous definition

last but not least, absolute stereodesciptors originally devised for steroid nomenclature (your case), where substitutents above the plane of the steroid are described as beta and those below as alpha. So here the alpha/beta part is not a distance (as you already know the hydroxyl group is in 17), it simply tells you whether the substitutent lies above or below the plane of the molecule: the name is 17-ß hydoxy if the hydroxyl in 17 lies above, 17-α if it lies below the plane

just keep in mind that with this last one if you were to look at a molecule you're not already familiar with drawn from the bottom looking up (instead of from the top looking down), you might have a bit of hard time telling the two isomers apart!
