ps. this is my first time writing in a bullet points format, i hope i did it right

food is the center of your relationship (5/9 of the pictures are basically him eating, not at all surprising)

your date always centers around food, whether it’d be lunch dates, dinner dates, snack dates, trying out new restaurants, late night snack dates, convenience store mukbang dates, and even cooking class dates

you would always sit on his right side, him on your left side

you find it so cute that he’s left handed

you would always have to roll up his sleeves during a meal because he gets so excited about food *basically a whole baby

speaking of food, cooking is basically a whole other type of date

although you are more on the baking side, you love to help him try out recipes, become his assistant in the kitchen, or simply helping him clean up

you always love what he cooks, especially knowing how much care and love he puts to it

the same thing if you’re baking, mingyu loves your baked goods, from cakes to muffins to desserts to anything basically

sometimes you’d receive a text in the middle of the day of him suggesting you to try out a recipe he found online

and you did try some of them, which made him very happy

with your limited cooking skills, you’d sometimes send him homemade lunch when he has practice, alongside some snacks for the other members cause you can’t forget about them

mingyu would beam in pride when the members praised your chocolate chip cookies, or banana muffins, or fruit cake or when they fought over who gets the last piece of egg tart you made

homemade cake and dinner is a must for special occasions, especially birthdays, you both go out to eat quite a lot so during these special occasions you both like to just stay at home and cook or bake together

mingyu’s birthday cake from year to year always changes depending on his request, from the classic chocolate cake to apple pie to that crepe cake which took hours to make, and even a stack of macarons cause he hinted that he wanted a macarons tower cake *yes you’ve made so many cakes for him, you’ve dated for that long, mingyu is a guy with commitment

food photos, a must, everywhere you eat, every meal you make at home, every successful or failed recipes

and speaking of pictures-he has a separate album on his phone only for your pictures, the selfies you sent him, candid pics he took of you, your pictures together, impromptu photoshoots he made you do when he really likes your outfit

and don’t get started on the videos, he records whenever he can, something for him to see when he misses you, or when you’re asleep but he wants to see you but he kinda doesn’t want to wake you up, also something to laugh at because there are some moments worth laughing at *over and over again, he never gets enough of it

that’s just the photos on his phoneyou can expect the same situation with his camera

the pictures he took are beautiful, and he always tries to capture you in the most natural setting, he absolutely loved taking candid pictures of you, close up shoots that showed the way your eyes lit up at the beach in front of you, or how the wind blows your hair softly

on the rare occasion that you get to be behind the camera instead of him, it’s his turn to be in every picture

sometimes he lets you use his camera, he loved the pictures you took, how you managed to capture everyday life details that others would sometimes miss, he loves nothing more than to see the world through your eyes

moving on to one of the obvious facts here, height difference

he would lift it above his head, completely out of your reach even if you tried your best to stand on your tippy toes

which ultimately makes you roll your eyes at himnot to forget, you are also his portable arm rest

likes to mess with you by putting his huge arms on your shoulder, or on your head, purposely messing up your hair

but seriously, mingyu sometimes forgets the fact that he’s a giant and that he could easily crush you, so there were occasions when he would lean on you and you’d lose balance which resulted in both of you on the floor

he took you to meet his family after a couple of dates because he’s been telling his mom about you and now she wants to meet you

his mom is very very nice, showing her affection by making you eat more (like how any mom would), also thanking you for taking care of mingyu because according to his mom, he looks so much healthier and happier now

after the first meeting with his family, his mom suddenly became your mom too, especially after mingyu gave her your number

would sometimes call you during lunch time to remind you to eat, ask you how you are doing, in general just the sweetest and loveliest person ever (not much of a surprise since we all know how sweet her son is), you think you might cry because she’s so caring

his mom would also send you kimchi when she has extras

correction, she purposely made more than usual so she can send you some too

which you gratefully accept after thanking her for a million times, then sending her back one of your baked goods

and would not stop talking about it because she knows that you can bake but she was not expecting it to be absolutely great

mingyu loves seeing your relationship with his mom, and kinda jealous too because whenever he’s out of town for tour or promotions, you get to hangout with his mom, which he is very jealous about, but also he couldn’t help but smile looking at the pictures that you and his mom took together

but then you started hanging out with his sister too, and now you have a partner to tease him, which he doesn’t approve of because it seemed like his family likes you more than him now

especially since his sister has an ally now, and it’s 2 vs 1 with you and his sister against him

when you were hanging out one day in your place, his mom called you to ask if you’ve eaten yet

you tried so hard to not laugh at his facial expression when his mom teased him by saying that you are her favorite child now

mostly they’re innocent, and full of love

unless he’s feeling a bit more passionate, he’ll pull you in for a longer kiss, hands resting on your cheek as his thumb gently brushed your skin, his other hand would either be on your waist, or your back, holding you so close to him

mingyu likes to take it slow, he likes to savor the moment, he doesn’t want it to end, so his lips would move slowly against yours, sometimes he would smile or let out a few giggles, making you giggle too

basically it’s pretty much light and playful with him, but still very meaningful

sometimes both of your schedules meant that you don’t get to see each other for weeks, even with being in the same city

but he’ll make it up to you by taking you away for the weekend, to a small town by the beach where you take long walks along the coastline, and eat dinner with sunsets

you love road trips like this, he’d pick you up, then you would jam out to songs on the way, stop by a rest area for brunch, and bought more snacks to accompany you for the rest of the trip

mingyu knows you love the ocean so much, so he would take you to the beach to watch the sun set, take unlimited amount of photos, pull you in for a hug and smother your face with kisses

then you’d have dinner accompanied by your laughter and conversations about anything

he’s shook his head, “no, this is my thank you, cause you’ve put up with being with someone like me”

his eyes would turn sad as he remembered how rarely you both met because of his schedules, “i’m sorry i’m not the best partner, we barely see each other”

it took two days of hard work and practice, but according to him, i "nailed it right on the head" my papa is always my go-to for mixology, he taught me most of what i know, and he's always the first person to try my drinks! apparently it's a very interesting concept to my other friends, since they have so limited access to spirits,, it does make sense though! we italians just don't care about drinking ages hehehe, as long as we're responsible and cautious with age, it adds to our lifespan ;) during that short break, i suppose my narcolepsy flared up a lot since i was falling asleep left and right! it was awful having to constantly wake up with either a migraine, extra tiredness, or even a bruise or two,, thankfully though i had my family to watch over me,, at least i was finally able to make up for lost sleep hehe 💫 (8/?)

i also got to play a lot of minecraft hehe,, my friend and i actually spent a full day doing a speedrun world, and we killed the ender dragon and wither within only 2 1/2 hours!! it was crazy,, i guess me and him just make a dynamic duo (but i dare to say,, not quite as dynamic as you and me 😉) speaking of minecraft, over the weekend i decided that i'm going to start streaming on twitch soon as a hobby!! i'm very excited for this, it's something i've wanted to do for a very long time now (9/?)

all of my friends and my siblings are very supportive of it, which i'm super glad about!! i've always found little bits of joy in my favorite streamers, so why not give back to that community? an artist friend of mine even drew me a pfp as a gift, it's so cute! all i have to do is figure out a balance between school, personal life, and streaming, then i'll be set,, i'm always happy to get a new hobby 😊✨ (10/?)

Cutie Reviews: Tokyo Treat Feb 18

Hello Cuties! Here we are with the February Tokyo Treat- but before I begin I thought I’d let you guys know that the Tokyo Treat family has recently opened up Tokyo Haul! An online shop full of items and goods found within these crates; as well as special items available in prize form, and items that haven’t appeared in the crates too; from toys to snacks to makeup

There are also several ways to earn points upon signing up and purchasing items, so if you see anything you wanna try I recommend you check there!

(As you can see, they returned to the booklet format starting with this one, but again we’ve lost our favorite Mascots DX)

Personally I can’t wait to cover the DIY item ♥ Pretty Cure is yet another series I grew up with it and I really really liked KiraKira Precure~

Okay, so first up will be the special Strawberry Shortcake Pepsi you see in that first pic. It is a special Japanese Pepsi that comes out around the winter season- as I’m sure you can tell from the package. It also has 43kcal O_O

With promises of tasting a real shortcake I was pretty enticed by this strange Pepsi. It’s essentially a white, stronger version of a Vanilla Pepsi, if you have ever seen or tried that before. It tastes pretty good, and I have to agree- when I picture or see a shortcake this is the taste vibe I get (•’╻’• ۶)۶

Although... I don’t essentially taste any strawberry. I taste a bit of coconut, and I can’t say it’s a drink I would want often. But it isn’t bad. I can see enjoying it during the season when it’s out.

I thought I’d switch things up by starting with favorite items- and due to the romantic sweetness of the Holiday, we were limited to two. A bit of a bummer but I’m still happy regardless.

First up is this large (but don’t be fooled by the size) bag of Koikeya Sour Plum Chips by a popular brand I’ve only tried once or twice honestly. Sour plums (or Ume) and Sakura flowers go together to create a lovely motif befitting of the pink sprinkled on the chips

When I took my first bite I wasn’t sure what to think about these. But they’re good if you like sour things; they reminded me a lot of those Salt and Vinegar Chips- which I like but usually avoid eating, since it usually burns my lips and is overall unpleasant ｡ﾟ(ﾟ´Д｀ﾟ)ﾟ｡ But the flavor of these is lighter, and I didn’t feel any sort of pain while eating them.

Our other item is this Umaibo - Shrimp Mayonnaise flavor. I love Umaibo but so far I haven’t been a fan of fish ones. For a while I was on a shrimp kick and enjoyed eating it but as of late I haven’t touched any. But I do enjoy mayonnaise and I’m always up for trying a new Umaibo :3 so...

I’m not sure if it tastes as good as real Mayonnaise Shrimp- but this was very good; so good in fact that I think this might be my new, second favorite Umaibo!

Next is our chocolate category :D Or at least part of it. It was pretty big this month.

First we have some Strawberry Barley Puffs, which I have reviewed ages ago so I’ll just summarize my first review on them; they’re kind of strange in taste and the strawberry shell doesn’t change it too much. But they’re not bad.

Another item I’ve tried before on the right-hand side is the Chocolate Wafer, which featured One Piece last time. This time it featured a series I know nothing about called Ultimate Muscle. I remember seeing and finding it very unappealing as a young girl- no offense if you like it though. Again I’ll summarize because these chocolate wafers usually do not change.

However- this one I didn’t like nearly as much as last time. I don’t know if it’s because I got to it a few months late (which I don’t think should matter because it was sealed), or if my taste was off. It just wasn’t as good as I remembered.

Next up is this came broken item that wasn’t listed in the book, known as Chocobar-Z (I think). It’s basically a chocolate Umaibo.

It being broken hasn’t deterred me from it’s taste. It’s really good x3 It has a crispy, slightly bitter taste but it’s also a little creamy~

Our last item in the picture is not actually on the plate. I kept it in its package- and it’s like a prior item I had before as well known as the Ice Cream Lolly, this time in Strawberry.

It’s basically a Strawberry Ice Cream Chupa-chups lollipop- but that isn’t bad if you like those

Now we’re onto the strawberry-chocolate! My favorite~♥

We’ll continue going in order, so first is this interesting box of Ginza Rusk in Strawberry. Rusk is essentially a dried dough or bread-like product that is usually covered in some type of flavoring or fried and coated in sugar.

As much as I love strawberries, I wasn’t too crazy about this one. It’s packaging is neat, and I love it’s creamy-crunchy texture, but the flavor itself as a teensy-bit off putting to me.

I had higher hopes for this next item: Maroyaka Milk Chocolate - Strawberry Party Pack. Look how sweet they look, and look at that packaging~

Not only do they look irresistibly kawaii and sweet, but they taste so good!! It tastes exactly like a strawberry dipped in chocolate, and while you taste strawberry chocolate, you also get the tartness from an actual strawberry. They’re also very smooth and melty; just how I like my chocolate~

Our final item is another object not in the booklet. I think this is because it was a last-second replacement for the Lotte Pie No Mi we were originally supposed to get. Something happened with it, I don’t remember the details but I got an email months ago about it .

Anyway, instead we have this really cute package of heart-shaped Strawberry Pocky. I’m not a huge pocky eater but I do love the strawberry ones, it also included these adorable illustrations of this boy I do not recognize. I wish I did though, he’s such a cutie ♡ 

The back of the box (visible above) also featured a profile on him. From what’s on the box, I guess he’s from a manga or game called Love With Pocky?? If anybody knows anything about this please let me know right away!

I don’t really have special feelings for pocky- but how can you go wrong with the strawberry ones? Plus I adore this person, whoever he is so call me biased if you must~

Lastly are our unique items- including two cola products; my most favorite of favorites~

Our first item is a popular brand known as Sour Long Gum, a dagashi snack known for its sour take on sweet flavors.

It tasted good, but oddly enough it wasn’t actually sour. It got sweeter after a few minutes but I did not taste anything sour. At all.

Speaking of sour, we also have a 5-pack set of Cola Gummies. I know you’re recommended to share these but who am I kidding. I’m willing to share but I will be doing most of the eating ;3

They taste really good, I love them! But I also like the fact that they are soft gummies.

Our final item (and probably the most unique) is this elegant box of Rose x Berry Glamatic Tablets made by Lotte. These are perfect if you’re preparing for a quick smooch or suffer from last-minute bad breath- and they just make your mouth feel nice~

They taste like their name, Berries and Rose. I know rose is a flavor people either like or don’t, but I’m one of the people who does generally enjoy it so these taste really nice to me. The flavoring/effect lasts a few minutes in the mouth once you chew/dissolve the tablet, and due to their small size you’ll probably want a few to make sure they actually work.

Quality - 4 out of 5. I liked everything, although there was damage done to the choco Z-thing I got. I can’t really fault them on that though because I know damage happens. I can fault them for this continued trend of lessening items to give us a share pack set though. I mean if you actually have people to share with or like the item enough then great, but for someone like me who was drawn in due to the amount of items, it’s a little bit let down.

Content - 4 out of 5. I generally liked everything, I’d say maybe better than the prior months box. I was a bit displeased to get a handful of repeat items though.

Theme - 5 out of 5. Not only did the items fit the Valentines Day theme it went for, but they put extra effort in the booklet as well to make each item feel Valentines special~

Total Rank: 13 out of 15 Cuties. I do miss our cute toys/bonus items they would give us, which hasn’t been happening as of late unfortunately, and I’m not found out these 5-pack singular item gimmick either; but I still really love the box. I’ve never really come across one that displeased me yet.

4.  Sour Plum Chips - They taste good, and they make a fun prank chip for people who don’t like sour things.

5. Rose x Berry Mints - I’m used to mint-mint flavors, so I really enjoyed this. I usually don’t buy them lately so I take when I’m given.

6. Shortcake Pepsi - It was good but I wouldn’t drink it frequently, even in season.  

7. Cola Gum - It was good, but I didn’t taste the sourness and the flavor was overall lighter.

8. Choco Thingy - It was a little bitter but I like dark chocolate. I loved it’s crispy texture~

9. Ice Cream Lolly - Nothing too special. A different type of strawberry cream chupa-chups. 

10. Barley Puffs - They seemed stale; not like before...

11. Wafer - This one was skimping on something- it just wasn’t as good as I remember.  

12. Strawberry Rusk - For some reason I just did not like it much.

13. Strawberry Pocky - It’s my favorite flavor, but I was more attracted to the boy and the lovely packaging then a snack I’ve eaten a million times.

I remember you mentioning about a Daehwi group chat and I wanted to ask, how will you describe each of your members?

Yeah! I formed a Daehwi GC a few months back with a few of my favorite Daehwi mutuals and I LOVE THEM ALL SO MUCH. In fact we’re talking right now! I love them all and am so happy that I got the chance to talk to them. They are a group of wonderful, lovely, amazing, people who always support me, and who always support Daehwi. I’ve met some of my closest online friends in this GC which says a lot to how close we are, ILY ALL!!! Anyways i’ll answer this now. We have 11 people in total ( 11 get it like w1) so there’s a lot but I still love them all. Actually when I describe them i’ll add something from their application for the gc ( I had people submit a form/ application thingy to decide who would be in the gc) since they’ve been asking me to show them the applications for a while anyways.

2. Ashleigh @lee-daehwiis - A ballet queen. She is so gorgeous, talented, and hardworking. A soft who stans a lot of under rated groups and who just wants to spread love and happiness. Talking to Ashleigh always puts me in a good mood. Or whenever I see her snaps of her in her ballet stuff. I’m like wow Ashleigh is really out here making her dreams come true. She’s such an inspiration to me and I LOVE HER. Ashleigh said this in response to what she liked best about Daehwi in her form: “Is everything an acceptable answer? This is a difficult question! It’s hard to explain, but I feel like Daehwi has this quality that can just put everyone in a better mood. He can lighten up anyone’s day just by being around. He has a very positive attitude and pretends like nothing is wrong, even if something is. He went through so much and never complained. He inspires me in so many ways, and not just to be a better person.”

3. Amy @idaehwi - She’s such a talented GIF maker! She contributes so much quality content to the Daehwi tag and that alone makes me love her to the moon and back. She is also such a sweet pea, she’s been a bit busy recently, but we all have. When ever she does appear though she always screams about Daehwi and leaves us nice messages. When asked why she should be chosen to join the gc, Amy responded with: “bc i’m me :-)”

4. Charlie @wannaoneioi - MY FELLOW LOONA STAN. Charlie has a great taste in music and in memes. 10/10 always lights up the conversation. Even when the topics r a little weird hahahaha. Charlie introduced me to loona and dragged me down so lfjsafkajsfklj but thx charlie ;’) I love crying over girl groups. When asked what Daehwi’s best trait is, Charlie responded by saying: “screams in Daehwi” (in Charlie’s defense Daehwi does scream a lot kfljsaljk)

5. Colleen @furryowo - Colleen has to explain this at least once a day, but she is NOT actually a furry fjkdsalfjadklsf. Ok seriously tho, Colleen is probably one of the sweetest people in the gc. I first met her when I found out that she was my anon who kept leaving me sweet messages. Colleen is still as caring as when I first met her, and she always checks up on all of us and makes sure we’re ok. Colleen is kind of like the mom friend I guess. Colleen is also super smart and hardworking and I know she’s going to have a bright future. Colleen’s favorite hair color on Daehwi is Ash Grey, which is my favorite too! Surprisingly only Colleen picked Ash Grey as her favorite hair color, which further shows she is an intellectual.

6. Hana @wannabl - Hana has been super busy with school recently (me too big relate). She kinda reminds me of a younger me. Hana always stays up late cramming for tests and pushing herself to get into a great school. What I like about Hana is that she’s smart but still knows how to have fun ( LA parties seem wild). Hana is also really creative and funny and knows how to take a joke. We always tease her about her typos hahahahaha you really can’t understand what she’s saying. ILY HANA! Hana wanted to be added to the gc because, “GIRL DAEHWI MAKES MY OVARIES HURT”

7. Hatice @soweakpunchs - I am convinced Hatice is an angel. SHE IS SO NICE AND CARING AND SWEET AND ALWAYS LOOKING AFTER ME AND IM

8. Jenny @asianbro10 - JENNY THE LOVE OF MY LIFE. Jenny is one of my closest buds ever. She has helped me through so much, I am forever grateful. Another angel fkjdsaflksadfkl love her. Jenny even wrote us all some Daehwi fan fiction, it was a Harry Potter AU and it was stellar. Jenny is an amazing writer she writes so eloquently, so it was an amazing read. She would also always send us one shots which we died over. It was great. She also makes such amazing fan art. I am in awe of her tbh. She’s so hard working and puts in so much effort into school and everything she does. I have so much more to say about her, but I would probs end up writing an essay so i’m gonna end it with an “ILY JENNY”. What Jenny likes most about Daehwi is “Everything. Every. Thing. His irreplaceable talent, adorable aegyo (I’m trash), charming personality and he cuTe as heLL.”

9. Jini @daisydaehwi - Such a precious cinnamon roll that deserves so much better. She’s so nice and sweet and I wish things start looking up for her in 2018. Jini always has the best memes. Tbh whenever Jini sends memes, I save them and steal them because they’re great (sorry Jini) Jini has such a loving personality and JIULEEN IS REAL AND I SHIP IT. Jini also chose light brown as her favorite hair color on Daehwi.

10. Maria @dearestguanlin - Maria has been busy and hasn’t been too active hahaha but whenever she shows up we’re like wow it must be a Christmas miracle. I’ve known Maria wayyyyyy before the Daehwi gc, she was one of the people I became really close to when I first joined Tumblr. She has been nothing but supportive of me. Maria has put up with my screaming in caps lock for months, which is an impressive achievement. Maria is like my intellectual bestie. We always rant about school, and education in our countries and suffer together. Maria is very smart, and sweet, and creative AND I LOVE HER SOSOSOSOSOSOSOSO MUCH. Maria wanted to join the gc because “Im your mutual? Jk i love Daehwi and would like to scream about him Ex. OMG LEE DAEHWI LOOKS SO GOOD IN PINK”

11. Pingdi @dae-hwee - Pingdi our resident intellectual (she goes to an ivy league y’all!) If Colleen is like the mom, Pingdi is like the cool aunt. She’s very straight up but still very loving towards everyone. Pingdi is not only smart but an amazing dancer too! She’s shown us her covers and i’m always shook fklasdjf. Pingdi is probably one of the most determined people in the gc. She pushes herself to the limit and does her best. Pingdi is also an amazing GIF maker and always makes such smooth gifs. ILY TOO PINGDI~ What Pingdi likes best about Daehwi is “Yo his English cover that he submitted for Produce 101. He’s got those Sunday morning voice vibes and I love it.”

Ushio & Tora Blu-ray and DVD Limited Edition Box Set Unboxing

Today marks the day I finally got my hands on my Ushio & Tora Limited Edition set, and oh was the wait so long, but so worth it. 

For those that weren’t following the release this set was originally scheduled to come out in late August alongside the standard edition blu-ray (which will now be referred to as ‘BD’ for the rest of this article) and DVD sets, however Sentai Filmworks delayed this Limited Edition box set until late September, and then moved it to early October. Much to my dismay this box set seemed to take forever to come. 

Despite these minor setbacks I am truly over-the-moon about this set, no amount of delays can sour this for me. I didn’t plan to really write another unboxing post so I apologize if this may be a little off-the-cuff, but this particular box set just blew me away and I can’t help but to share. So without farther ado, let’s take a look!  

The first thing to notice is with how huge the outer case is, and how elaborate the opening mechanism of said case is--this is something that has become increasingly normal for Sentai box sets which instead of a semi-standard size set that can easily fit on your shelf like a lot of Funimation’s and Viz’s BD sets, Sentai aims to create complete showpieces. Make no mistake, if you have limited room this box set is not for you. This set is meant to be proudly displayed, and boldly draws eyes towards it. 

As alluded to above, the box set does not open traditionally but is instead kept together through fabric straps on the side, undoing said straps folds out the set. Unfolding the left side you can see some more artwork, and unfolding the right (completely opening it) you can now see all the yokai crawling around the ground--a very cool effect that is reminiscent of the cellar that Tora was trapped in for 500 years. 

Now the contents of the box set are all visible, at the very top is yet another box that holds most of the goodies (the fun stuff), underneath that is the art/guide book, and finally the show itself: separated into 3 standard DVD sized cases--2 cases for all the DVDs and 1 for all the BDs. This is another thing that has become the norm for Sentai with these box sets; for better or worse they include their BDs in standard sized DVD cases. I like to be an optimist and think this is most likely done to maximize the nice artwork on said case and conform 1 size since DVDs and BDs are both included, but this may be a bit annoying to anyone who prefers the smaller blue BD cases over DVD cases. 

Moving along let’s examine the box with the goodies in it. Despite just being locked away in the larger outer box, this box itself is pretty darn nice looking with different art on both sides and even the title in foil on the spine. Perhaps you can put this on your shelf if you don’t want the giant showpiece that is the entire box set taking up shelf space. Opening up the box reveals all the physical extras included in this set. There’s the art cards, poster, and Beast Spear replica. Let’s start off with the art cards. 

Included in the set are 4 art cards that yes, are reversible, giving you 8 works of art to admire, although still only 4 to display (unless you live in some alternate dimension that can view fronts and backs at the same time!). Only the first card is glossy, and it’s a noticeable difference, being much brighter and all together prettier than the other 3, however these 3 aren't total losses either. Said cards are nice and firm, not flimsy, and feel like they were made of pretty thick paper-stock. Overall you have your self a small yet beautiful set of cards. 

Next is the poster which regrettably is probably the weakest part of this set. Unlike the art cards the paper for the poster does feel flimsy, and I only looked at it once and I can already see creases and fold marks just from being shoved into the box it came in. The whole thing feels very cheap and kinda disappointing, but I could have let that slide if the poster was actually big! Instead it’s pretty small, not much bigger than two standard BD cases turned on their side (see here). I’ll probably still find use out of it but this is really one of the few missteps in an absolutely incredible box set. 

And finally, the last piece in this box we have the Beast Spear replica. This tiny little guy is actually made with real metal (or at least it feels like it is) and believe it or not is kinda heavy. There’s honestly a good amount of weight to it that just feels right. This is no pen or pencil, it’s a real weapon--that just so happens to be about the size of a pen or pencil. 

While the spear itself is great, the cloth tide around it really doesn't look like the cloth in the show, instead it obviously looks like the ribbon it is. Seems like something my mother would use in her crafting instead of a mighty seal that prevents the spear from going berserk. The box itself is kinda a dud too. Don’t be fooled by the nice interior the spear is stored in, the rest of the box is pretty much just flimsy cardboard. All that said, I still love the spear replica itself, and it’s a fun display piece, especially with figures. 

No longer satisfied with hunting Moblins all day, Link’s traded in his Master Sword for the Beast Spear and is ready to fight some yokai! (I really need the Ushio & Tora figures don’t I?) 

So now that we have everything in that goodies box out of the way let’s examine what was next in this box set: the art/guide book. This book is hefty, also having a good weight to it. Hard cover and solid like a rock, boasting over 150 pages of information and art. This is by far the nicest book I have gotten in an anime box set, and puts most of the stuff in Funimation sets to shame. The book comes in at pretty much the same size of a standard manga volume (see here) and is formated for western reading (left-to-right). 

Honestly this book is the biggest winner for me in the entire box set. I didn’t have any expectations for it but, boy, oh boy! There’s just so much information in this little book and it’s all displayed beautifully. 

There’s descriptions of every episode which include screenshots and bios for each character in said episode (and even more interesting is that they didn’t just copy+paste these, each bio on the characters explains what they are doing in the episode and is wholly unique), information and art on the yokai featured in the episode, and best of all the descriptions even list the script writer, storyboard artist, episode director, and animation director for the episode; info that I wish more companies would make as easily available in these kinds of books. 

Besides the episode descriptions we have your standard section dedicated to the art of the characters showing off the multiple appearances they had over the course of the show, and a section dedicated to all the background art featured in the series. This is a tome of information on the entire process of making the show from start to finish and really makes you appreciate how much work goes into anime. I ended up taking a lot more photos of this book than I should have, so if you want to take a peak: check out some more pics here. 

I do not recommend diving into the book right away however if you haven’t seen the show yet because it is full of spoilers. 

Last but not least is the actual show itself. As I stated in the beginning it is separated into 3 unique DVD sized cases that do not resemble the standard edition set for this show. The cases each feature different artwork on both the exterior and interior, and house around 13 discs in total: 8 DVDs and 5 BDs. The episode breakdown results in about 4-5 episodes a DVD and about 9 episodes a BD, pretty much a standard amount for most anime nowadays.

So that is the Ushio & Tora Limited Edition BD & DVD box set from Sentai Filmworks! A huge set full of a lot of great content. If you love the show like I do and want to have a great display piece then I definitely cannot recommend it enough. I also look forward to my rewatch of it with the brand new dub Sentai has made. 

I hope this unboxing has helped anyone on the fence about getting this, as I know I absolutely love looking at it on my shelf now!

Q&A: The Evolution of EvoS

There’s a new lion king at EvoS, and her name is NEV:3. The latest feline-hybrid dominating the feeds has been touted as the ‘new face of EvoS,’ (and unlike her predecessors, she seems more interested in meeting fans than eating them). In the few short weeks since she was introduced as the latest lancer, she’s already proven herself to be a sales force to be reckoned with, dominating merchandising lines with the aggression of Rask and the kid-friendly cuteness of your neighborhood PuP-toy.

I was lucky enough to be able to sit down with NEV:3 and chat about the future of EvoS, working with Dr. Finn, and tips for taking the best SELF-Es in Atlas.

Hi, NEV:3. Did I get that pronunciation right? ‘Neve’ like Rev? Or Dev. Kev. Tev. Lev. Bev. Mev... 

Uh-huh. That’s helpful, thank you. So, you’ve been heralded as the new face of EvoS. What does that entail? A new face. And tail. <NEV:3 giggles> But also, ya know, just bringing awareness to what we’re doing at Evolution Solutions. Every other Trust is so into their secrety secrets. Like, what even goes on at Omni? Not even joking, I think every employee there is a robot.

Like Su-Ren and Tol-Ren? Wait, WHAT?! THEY’RE ROBOTS!?!? I meant metaphorically, but are you serious? 

Yeah. They’re androids. Wow. But like, I saw them holding hands the other day. They’re, like, in love?

It’s all over the feeds. See? People call them ‘Stole-ren’, because they stole our hearts away. Or something. Um. I don’t read that stuff… out loud. That is adorbs. I must be clairvoyant! I sensed the robot thing subconsciously. <NEV:3 laughs>. It must be a cat thing, because pre-transformation, there was this guy in the lab I used to talk to all the time – such a great listener – and it turns out he was just a surveillance bot that Big Boss got to monitor everyone’s productivity! I couldn’t believe it. The bot is still really sweet though. He’s got the most comforting beeps. 

But anyway! Back to your question.

Basically, I’m here now because EvoS wants everyone to know what we’re all about, ya know?

And what is EvoS all about, for the uninitiated? Well, Kaye, it’s a PuP eat PuP world out there. If EvoS has learned anything over the past century, it’s that survival is not a guarantee. Everyone in Atlas is living on finite resources and we have to be able to change with the times. 

With all of the new expansion into the Waste and the proposed reconstruction of the Hyperion gateway, things are exciting right now, but also super uncertain. We can’t know how things will change – only that they will – and we need to be prepared for that. Mega-prepared. Over-prepared.

Like, what if the world outside of Atlas was flooded, like what happened to Oceanus? Wouldn’t it be fifty thousand percent better if we all had fins right away? <NEV:3 laughs> The Doc loves asking that. It’s like, his favorite thing.

The Doc, being Dr. Finn? The one and only. Or, as he would say, the sole Doc.

Excellent impression! I can almost hear it in his voice. He’s quite a character, isn’t he? Oh, de-finn-itely. 

I can see why he enjoys your company. Duh. Everyone does. <NEV:3 giggles> 

Dr. Finn is clawsome! And he’s just being himself, ya know? I don’t know why some folks take it so purrsonally. Like Rask! Rask hates it.

Rask is intimidating. He’s a big softy at heart. We were playing catch the other day! He’s got great aim. Threw a million Rask plushes at me and just would not stop until I had to leave. I kept telling him to throw softer, but he just doesn’t know his own strength. Cute kitty.

Before we get too off-topic, you were saying earlier that we need to be over-prepared for what might come. Are there any changes coming to EvoS that we should be aware of? Preparation is just common sense! It’s like knowing your best angles and having good light before taking a SELF-E. You wouldn’t waltz in with untrimmed claws and ruffled fur and expect to take a purrfect pic, right? No! You’d put on your best face, dress up, strike a pose, and give yourself the best odds at looking amazing.

Your SELF-Es with fans have been a real success for EvoS. My fans are the best! They’re the coolest cats you can imagine – and so photogenic!  

They’re why I’m psyched that there is SO MUCH good stuff coming from EvoS soon. We’ve been experimenting with meowtstanding tech that we got from Hyperbotics, and I think our next creation will be a smash hit. Maybe even more popular than I am, if that’s pawsible. 

Tech from Hyperbotics? So you’re working on a robo-hybrid? Robo-inspired, at least. 

Ooh, I hope I don’t get in trouble for letting the cat out of the bag! I just got my Rez contract. I don’t wanna go back to just 9 lives! But I’ve been DYING to tell someone, so maybe it’s worth it.

It’s refreshing to hear what’s coming up. This is all part of a more transparent, open EvoS, right? Purrceptive! My goal is to shine a light on all the good that EvoS does for Atlas. It’s a new era filled with pawesome people and hybrids and robots and ME!

And I miss Quark! It was so fun having Quark at EvoS for a couple months. And since Rask is surprisingly fond of that one too, a picnic with the three of us would work out purrfectly.

TheGamingGenome asks... What are your views on Helio Corps and it's founder, Helio? I was talking to Zuki (who is so fun! I love her), and she says Helio is a great guy, but I wouldn’t really know. He’s so BUSY. He’s basically just a red blur that zooms around Atlas. 

From what I’ve seen, Helio Corps seems to be doing good stuff. Now that those Heli-Orbs are out in the Waste, I can play with my laser-pointers all day every day without worrying about energy limits. Plus, the Helio Corps building is SUPER nice. They have this giant electro-ball thing in the lobby that makes all my fur stand up when I walk by.

HirayaCM asks... Were you born a human EvoS-ised with cat DNA or vice versa? Who'd be the better cat burglar between you and Celeste? For the cat burglaring, I’m pretty meowtstanding at stuff when I put my mind to it. Celeste would be in for some FIERCE competition.

As for my origins, I made myself. And technically, without Dr. Finn’s purrmission. He didn’t like it at first, but he came around eventually! I can be very purrsuasive. =^.^=

FEATURE: Cooking With Anime - Dragon Tail from "Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid"

Dragon tail...no, no. Not the formative children's show you probably watched in your youth (at least in America). No, today we're talking about Dragon TAIL, as in, the appendage (is that the right terminology?) found on mythical (are they, though?) creatures.

  In the first episode of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, the titular dragon is trying to prove that she can earn her keep as a maid for Miss Kobayashi. Very adorably, she proves herself competent at a variety of house skills, such as cleaning and doing laundry. She can even remove poisons from large hunks of meat! Why would she need that skill, you might ask? Well, because she decides to cook up HER OWN TAIL, which is naturally poisonous. 

    Which brings me to this blog post today. I needed to make a dragon's tail. More importantly, I first needed to find a dragon's tail. But where does one get a dragon's tail?

  The answer is, of course, that dragons are so rare and mythical that you can't actually buy dragon meat in the grocery store. Since I am severely lacking in the tools and skills necessary to hunt down an actual dragon, I turned to Twitter to find the closest substitute possible. 

    All my Twitter pals were very helpful in highlighting a type of meat that is so far out of the possibility for me, it might as well be actual dragon meat. Not that I didn't appreciate the help- I found it to be quite fun to speculate as to how many calories a dragon would burn while flying vs walking. And alligator tail sounded like a great idea. The thing is... I don't know about where you live, but in California, ALLIGATOR MEAT IS NOT A NORMAL SELECTION AT THE GROCERY STORE. 

  In fact, a lot of meat is not available at the typical grocery store in California, likely because a lot of people in California like to eat vegetables and fruits and things of that nature. It's a rather small college town, so even for the people who can cook, the selection is limited because demand is, as outlined above, not exactly high for rare and speciality meats. 

  All of this has only convinced me more that I need to move to a more populated part of the state. 

  So, what was I to do? I decided to wander Whole Foods, the store with the best meat selection in town, to see what they had in the way of extremely large hunks of meat. And, the only thing I could find that would fit the bill was a chuck roast. Not exactly the most impressive of meats. To be clear, if I had more of a choice, I would have gone with a different cut of meat. I think a veal shank, though a little small, would make for a great selection. But, with very little options, I used what was available to produce a truly delicious "dragon tail" recipe. The meat, roasted to juicy, succulent perfection, is garnished with a bright green herb sauce that evokes the green scales of a dragon. If you wanted, you could even mix in edible gold glitter (which I have, and which I am honestly kicking myself for not including) to make it sparkle and shimmer, sort of like the sauce from the anime. Even better, the whole dish is actually pretty easy to make, since most of it involves waiting around for the huge chunk of meat to cook.

      Ingredients

  Magic Green Sauce:

1 bunch cilantro

1 bunch flat leaf parsley

~1 tbs fresh oregano

~1 tbs fresh thyme

~1 tbs fresh taragon

~3 cloves fresh garlic

~3/4 cup olive oil

Salt to taste

  "Dragon Tail":

3 lb Chuck Roast

3 cups beef stock

Onion (optional)

Carrots (optional)

Salt + Pepper

Magic Green Sauce

Olive oil

     To Make: 

1. Preheat the oven to 275 Fahrenheit for the roast. Roast the pepper over a flame, or in the oven, until skin is blistered.

    Put all ingredients for Magic Green Sauce, except for oilve oil and salt, into a food processor and blend together. When finely chopped, Drizzle olive oil in until the consistency is to your preference. Flavor with salt.  

      2. If using, roughly chop onion and carrots to cook with the meat.

      4. Season each side of the roast with salt and pepper.

  5. Heat up some olive oil in a dutch oven. Brown the onions, about 3 minutes, and then brown carrots, about 2-3 minutes. Set vegetables aside on a plate. 

  6. Add more olive oil to the pan and bring up to a very high heat. Sear each side of the roast, ~1 minute per side, until nicely browned. Then, set aside on a plate. 

       7. Pour about 1 cup of beef broth into the bottom of the pan, and deglaze the pan with a whisk by vigorously rubbing up all the browned spots left on the bottom of the pan by the vegetables and meat.

    8. Put meat back in, and surround with vegetables. Pour beef stock in until it comes up halfway to the top of the roast. Sprinkle fresh herbs on the vegetables. Use the Magic Green Sauce to season the top of the roast. 

    9. Place in the oven ~3 hours, or until it is tender and falls apart easily when attacked by a fork. 

    10. Remove from pan, and cut into slices. Garnish with more Magic Green Sauce. And now it's done!!

After owning the stock for so long, almost 1,800 posts of DD and or defending the company here it was great to actually feel the experience of a Snakes & Lattes. On the short side wow we had fun 4 hrs. of fun. Juancy thanks for posting the pics I took hope everyone enjoyed them. We stopped by Thurs. to check out the building. They were working very hard getting it ready. I wasn’t 100% it would be done but it was. The space S&L is located on 6th St. and Mill Ave. I was told by many this intersection was the most popular on mill Ave. 2 of the most popular bars. sit on the corners with S&L just down 6th st. a bit. Hands down to JRF for finding this location. Just a great location. \\ Inside and outside There is outdoor seating which was nice to see. Inside very very spacious. As soon as you walk in you can see the S&L sign right behind the bar. Off to each side are tables along with the shelves of lots and lots of games. Off to the right is a small area of shelving for the retail game section. There are booths, small tables for 2 and many larger tables for larger parties. Again a very open space. \\ The experience: We were sitting next to another couple in a small 2 person table. Staff came right over and took our drink order and explained how the games worked. They asked if we had any games in mind. After saying no we walked up to the games shelving were they recommended something. They started explaining the game to us, well to my wife. I’m checking the place out taking pics, txt’ing to some longs who are friends and leaned over to ask the couple next to us how he liked the pizza. He said it was very good so I ordered a chicken pesto pizza and my wife ordered a salad. While waiting for our food we starting playing a card game. Always came over to ask if everything was ok… The guru’s would stop by frequently. They work as a team if they don’t know the answer to your question they find someone that does. Like any new restaurant opening a few bugs here and there. Over all great job corporate in training the staff. We were there 4 hrs. I’m thinking the average time maybe 2+ hrs. I was taking pics, chatting to my new long friend and txt’ing to other longs. One more thing when your wife/gf gives you that ok put the freaking phone away look.. just remember the the hotel thing lol. \\ Our bill came to 60.00 before tip, would of been more but they only had vanilla ice cream which they were comping. Some local flooding caused some delays. We got to SL around 5 and needed to leave by 6:30 for another commitment. Ben and his friends were sitting at a table to the right of the entrance. He recognized me from Fri. and waved. It was not very busy maybe 4 tables occupied. As we walked down 6th from Mill noticed the 2 main bars were mostly empty also. Sat. Night in a college town 5pm is a little early to start your night out. I asked to be seated at a 4 top vs 2 top as we were Fri. Liked the additional space especially playing games. Staff was very attentive from the start almost like yay customers lol. No alcohol because of our other commitment plus I only drink on occasion. My wife ordered the Hawaiian pizza and ordered a burger, they looked really good on Fri. as the came out of the kitchen. Again both were excellent. \\ The menu is very diverse from traditional food to vegan and vegetarian entree’s. Healthy foods. I was told I can post the menu so will ask Jauncy to post it. We started with the same game as Fri. Lost Cities. For some reason we split the 2 games. I’m not saying why that happened either lol. We then moved to battle sheep. This was picked out by the same guru that taught us lost Cities Fri. My wife caught on after a few games at least that’s my story lol. \\ We got there around 5 left at 6:30. During that time I saw a party if 9 come in, party of 6 shortly after numerous 2 an 4’s. By 6:30pm it was 1/2 filled maybe a bit more. The server said Sat. Night in Tempe doesn’t get rolling until 8 or later. It was still 1/2 full and with no advertising I felt that was very good. Fri. We had 1 alcohol 1 non alcoholic drinks. 2 entree’s and 2 lattes as time went on. Again no desserts bc they don’t have them right now. Total bill 60.00 before tip Sat. 1 water, 1 non alcoholic drink, 2 entree’s. No lattes due to time. Thought we would come back later for coffee but we were too tired. Total bill for Sat. 35.00 for 1 1/2 hr. stay before tip. I did ask 2 tables on the way out how they heard about SL. Both said there friends were here yesterday and said it was a lot of fun with great food. All I can say is 2019 SL’s going to be popping up all over the U.S maybe international soon after.
