“Come back to me, I’ll wait for you.”

Devastated and exhausted, you were still mourning losing Mitsuba a second time. You refused to get out of bed, and only did when Teru asked you to because your grades were a mess. Kou decided to show you the photos Mitsuba had took before. The incident. You tried spending most of your time with Yokoo and Satou, who didn’t really know why you were upset but still tried to comfort you. After the you did your part of helping them get rid of the hands, you thought you were done with supernaturals for the day. But when Kou dragged you off saying Yashiro had gone missing, and you needed to enter some boundary and he wanted you there. You kind of had to tag along. But unexpectedly, you find someone there.

Warnings: Cursing, reader feeling like shit (‘m sorry about that), comforting from Yokoo and Satou, Kou also sorta feeling like shit, your aunt trying to help you out of bed but still keep you safe, some angst again, etc,.

(A/N) : Last chapter of Act I!! Hope you enjoy it. I’ve been feeling like absolute shit these past few days so writing this to distract myself has made me feel so much better. I’m pretty sure this is proofread but if there’s anything wrong with it lmk!!

You couldn’t bring yourself to get out of bed, not for anything. Not even after the countless times Yokoo and Satou begged you to come, not after Yashiro came over to try and get you up, not even after your aunt talked to you about it.

You just couldn’t.

You’d spent more nights crying than you could ever count, and kept thinking back to that moment. The squelching noise, that scream. It all haunted you like there was no tomorrow.

Your aunt had to bring you in food, and make sure you actually ate it. She sat with you while you cried about it, and she hugged you through it. She even called in sick from work to stay at home just for a day to comfort you.

“Shhh.. hey it’s okay.” She tried to reassure for the nth time this day.

You didn’t seem to be getting better.

“It’s not okay! There should’ve been something I could’ve done! Something I didn’t do.” You cried into your pillow, eyes red and puffy from all your tears.

She pursed her lips, not knowing what to do to comfort you. Nothing seemed to help. All she could do was make sure you ate and drink a little water. And of course make sure you didn’t do anything stupid, she was still a bit paranoid from what happened.

Out of no where, there was a knock on the door.

“Ah.. I’ll go get it.” She said, giving you one last pitiful glance before heading downstairs.

“Hey is (Y/N) here?” You heard someone say.

“Yeah she’s upstairs in her room.” Your aunt replied.

“Okay thank you.” They answered.

You heard footsteps, and groaned.

“Look Yokoo, I already said I don’t want to get up—“

“It’s not Yokoo.” Teru chuckled.

He walked over to your bed and sat with you.

“You doing okay? You and Kou both seem really out of it.” He asked, moving his hand to rub soothing circles in your back.

“No.” Was all you could answer, knowing how he felt about spirits you knew you probably shouldn’t tell him why.

“Listen, you need to come back to school. Your grades are plummeting so bad right now, and your friends miss you a lot.” Teru explained, making you lightly chuckle.

“Great, thanks so much for adding more stress! I thought it was impossible but somehow you did.” You answered sarcastically with a sigh.

He only playfully rolled his eyes, “Look, if it helps anything—I’ll help you with your missing work.”

“Just please come back to school? We all miss you a lot. And I think both you and Kou could use some support.” He pleaded, his pretty blue eyes sparkled with determination to get you out of bed.

You groaned, falling back onto your bed.

“I don’t know..” you mumbled.

“I won’t try to exorcise Hanako for..” he paused “a few days.”

You snorted, shaking your head with a fond smile.

“Deal.”

He smiled.

“Okay. It’s only 9:20, so you still have time to get to school. Even if it’s late, don’t worry I’ll excuse you.” He assured, “so get ready and I’ll walk you to school.”

You sighed as you got out of bed, and he went to wait downstairs for you.

You got dressed, and went into the bathroom to wash your face and do the rest of your skincare routine so you didn’t look like you’d been crying so much, and after you were satisfied that you didn’t look like a total mess as bad, you walked downstairs to find Teru.

He was sitting on the couch, just scrolling around on his phone. You went to go out on your shoes, and swung your backpack over your shoulder. He turned his phone off and stood up.

“You ready?” He asked.

“Yeah.”

Teru walked you into the middle school divison, and quickly took you with him to the student council room.

“Hang on, wait one second let me just do something real quick.” He hummed, unlocking his computer and opened what seemed to be an attendance sheet and marked your name off as ‘excused tardy’.

“Okay, ‘m gonna go drop you off at class and tell the teacher that you were late cause of my fault.” He explained, already leading you towards your second period class.

He opened the door for you and allowed you in, and went to go whisper something to the teacher. Yokoo looked at you excitedly, and Satou smiled upon seeing you. You didn’t see Kou in his seat, so you assumed he was out with Hanako and Yashiro.

“What made you feel like getting up out of bed?” Yokoo asked curiously.

“Are you hungry? I have some sweets with me.” Satou asked, digging around in his backpack to look for said sweets.

“Teru dragged me out of bed.” You exaggerated with a sigh, leaning against Yokoo dramatically.

Satou just shook his head with a smile, and Yokoo played along pretending to catch you.

“Well did you sleep good at least?” Yokoo asked.

You paused for a moment.

“..Definitely.”

“Liar.” Satou sighed “Here, have some.” He said, offering you some of his sweets.

You took a few, thanking Satou.

“You seemed pretty down enough to not come to school for a few days.. you hadn’t been that down since Mitsuba—“ Yokoo stopped himself.

“Oh god, I’m so sorry.” He winced apologetically, realizing what he just brought up.

You pursed your lips, but you couldn’t get mad at Yokoo. You knew he and Satou were only worried and meant no harm.

“It’s fine, but can someone catch me up on what we’re learning? I’m a little lost.” You chuckled nervously, trying lighten up the mood—trying to forget about Mitsuba.

“Yeah, no problem!” Yokoo chirped.

Yokoo and Satou explained the lesson for you, letting you copy down their notes so you wouldn’t fall too behind. You groaned as you leaned back in your seat, already hating how much you missed in your absence.

“Where’s Kou by the way?” You asked, sitting back up after a few more moments.

“Oh him? All he said is he’d be busy, I don’t think he’s been in class at all.” Satou hummed.

“You should probably go see him, he didn’t look too good.” Yokoo suggested, kicking his feet lightly.

“I will after class.”

The bell had long since rung, and kids rushed out to their next class. Yokoo and Satou had said their goodbyes and told you they’d see you at lunch, so you were trying to get your stuff altogether.

“Don’t think of running off with those cockroaches.” Teru sighed as he waited by the door for you.

You jumped a bit, not really expecting him to wait for you after class.

“They aren’t cockroaches..” you mumbled, slinging your backpack over your shoulder and he gave you a look that said ‘are you sure about that?’.

You sighed, “Okay, maybe some are. But they aren’t all.” you tried to explain.

You paused, biting your lip a bit “But I’m not gonna do anything having to do with the supernatural anytime soon, so I won’t run off.”

Teru gave you a satisfied smile.

“Why are you even here? Are you going to make sure I don’t skip off to Hanako and the others or?” You trailed off.

“No,” Teru denied “I was actually here to pick you up.”

“I talked to the teachers and let them know you’d be with me for the rest of the day,” he hummed.

“Working on your missing assignments.”

You groaned as you made your way towards the door, looking at Teru with pleading eyes as if it would convince him to just let you go with the others. He smiled and shook his head fondly, leading you towards the student council room.

“Oh and by the way,” he said opening the door for you “I let Kou know you’re here so I’m sure he’ll stop by soon.”

“Soon like now?” Kou asked as he entered the student council room.

“I thought you’d stop by later but yeah, soon.” Teru confirmed with a hum.

“Can I borrow (Y/N)?” Kou asked, leaning against the doorframe.

“For what?” Teru asked.

“Something.” Was all Kou managed to mutter.

“No, sorry. After she finishes at least half of this work,” Teru emphasized, referring to the small stack of packets and papers that you thought to be your missing assignments “then you can take her for a bit.”

You groaned, flopping down on the seat in front of Teri’s desk.

“So mean.” Kou mumbled with a pout, walking out.

“So,” Teru cleared his throat, dropping a small stack of papers in front of you “let’s get started.”

You pouted with a whine, letting your head fall forward and hitting the desk in frustration.

The bell had rung a fourth time since you’ve gotten there, and it was now time for lunch.

“Well, your a little bit close to halfway done.” Teru mumbled holding up a pinch of the paperwork, holding it up to examine it.

Kou burst through the door, swinging it open.

“It’s lunch time now, and I’m pretty sure (Y/N)’s hungry.” Kou said, trying to indirectly hint if it was okay to borrow you now.

“Go ahead but be back right after.” Teru instructed, and you just pouted with a nod.

“Great,” Kou mumbled, grabbing hold of your wrist “will definitely—“ he sprinted out with you “not.”

Kou laughed a bit, but when he noticed you didn’t seem to even smile his expression dropped.

He came to a stop, at the staircase leading up to the roof, sitting down on a bench nearby.

“You doing okay?” Kou asked.

“Not really.” You muttered, sitting by him.

“Well I have something to show you.” Kou smiled, bringing something from his backpack’s front pocket.

He took it out gingerly, as if it was the most fragilest of glass and would break with even the slightest wrong look.

They were Mitsuba’s developed pictures.

“I had them printed out as soon as I could..” he whispered, though he didn’t know why if it was just the two of you “I already looked at them last night, but—“ his voice cracked a bit as he chuckled lightly “I thought you might want to see them too.”

He carefully handed the small stack of photos to you, and you—just as carefully—took them.

There were many pictures.

Some were meant to be funny, and others were genuinely beautiful.

Like when Kou got attacked by the mother cat when he tried grabbing one of it’s kitten’s. Or when Mitsuba took that photo of Kou while he was standing on his shoulders.

There were also some like the birds nest, and of some he took while in the school garden. But the one that made you tear up—

Was the one he took of you and Kou.

You grit your teeth in frustration, in anger—thinking back to that moment.

“I’ll make that asshole pay one way or another.” You say through a choked out sob.

Kou looked at you with a solemn face, pursing his lips before placing a comforting hand on your shoulder “And I’ll be there to help you when you do.”

You looked at him, and he looked at you. And for the first time since you both had met, you didn’t laugh at the eye contact. Instead, your eyes welled up with regretful tears, tears of grievance at its finest.

“Oh, there you two are!” Yokoo exclaimed gleefully, practically skipping towards you both as Satou trailed behind him.

“What’re you two weirdo’s doing?” Satou joked, sitting beside you as Yokoo sat on the other side of Kou.

Yokoo shot him a glare after realizing you and Kou were on the verge of tears, and Satou immediately took the hint that now wasn’t the time for that.

“Wanna tell us what’s going on?” Satou finally said after a few moments of silence.

Yokoo pursed his lips when he got no answer from either of you, so he spoke up too.

“Look, whatever you both are going through. You can tell us, you know that right?” Yokoo asked, but continued after still the both of you didn’t answer “Just know we’re here for you. Whatever you guys are going through, we’ll get through it altogether.” he looked over at Satou “Right, Satou?”

“Yeah of course. We’re all friends, and as friends we have to look out for each other.” Satou agreed with a hum.

There was a few more seconds of silence before anyone spoke again.

“You ever know that feeling…” you finally managed to croak out after a while longer “when you thought you finally found something you lost a long while ago, someon—“ you stopped yourself before continuing “something very special to you, and then for someone to just. Snatch it out of your hands?”

Kou lightly chuckled, but it came out sadder than he intended “And when you actually got to see another side of a person you just met, and got to know them better—only for them to disappear the next second?”

Satou and Yokoo exchanged glances, as if they were trying to communicate with each other to see what you guys meant by that. But they found themselves empty minded.

“I don’t necessarily understand,” Yokoo started, already hugging Kou to provide some sort of comfort “but I know whatever it is. It’s really tough for you to be feeling like this.”

“Yeah,” Satou confirmed, hugging you too, connecting with Yokoo to form a group hug “we’re your friends. And as your friends we wanna tell you that you don’t have to go through this alone.”

And just then, you broke down in tears, babbling about how you lost someone so special to you a second time and this time you’ll never get them back. Kou followed soon after, except he just silently cried.

“Shhh.. there, there.” Yokoo whispered “Let it all out.”

The two boys hugged you both as you cried, comforting you in silence.

“God you guys are the best.” You hiccuped with a small chuckle that came out more as a sob.

Satou smiled, and Yokoo just replied “We know.”

After a while longer, the bell rang again. You, Satou, Kou, and Yokoo had been talking, the two mostly trying to distract you guys from crying—trying to get a smile out of you.

From around the corner, Teru came and you groaned.

“C’mon, it’s time to get back to your missing work.” Teru hummed, leaning against the wall as he waited for you to get up.

You pouted, but got up and said your goodbyes.

“You didn’t actually eat,” Teru began as you started walking back to the student council room “did you?”

And as if on cue, your stomach rumbled, and you flushed out of embarrassment. Teru sighed, turning in a different direction.

“Let’s get you something to eat.. I think I might have a spare lunch in the office.” Teru explained.

And he did, luckily for you. After taking one bite, you almost immediately recognized it as Kou’s cooking—and practically gobbled up the rest of it.

“Woah, slow down your going to end up choking.” Teru laughed.

“But it’s Kou’s cooking!” You pouted, taking another bite “You could never.”

“Okay that was ONE time.” Teru groaned, remembering how he nearly burnt down their kitchen.

“Yeah, that ‘ONE’ time was a near death experience for me.” You sighed dramatically, making Teru smile.

“It’s good to see your somewhat better now.” He hummed.

“What do you mean?” You asked, taking one last bite of the delicious lunch Kou prepared.

“I mean, your not as gloomy right now as you were earlier.” He smiled, ruffling your hair.

You swatted his hands away from your hair, “Must’ve been the magic of Kou’s cooking.”

“Must’ve.” Teru agreed, “Now that I know you won’t be complaining about an empty stomach,” he dropped the rest of your missing assignments in front of you “we can finish this.”

“So mean to me.”

For the next few days you tried to get over it. But I mean, you couldn’t, really. If you thought losing someone the first time was hard, imagine losing them a second time. Yokoo and Satou tried to help too, they kept you busy, and Yokoo even found out some way to let you in his soccer practice to ‘blow off some steam’ as he put it.

“God, I don’t understand how you’re able to do this for what?” You asked, taking a sip from the water bottle Yokoo had given you, to which he replied “About an hour and a half.”

“I can’t even last ten minutes.” You chuckled lightly.

“But you’re distracted, right?” He asked, gently nudging you with his shoulder.

You smiled, “I am actually.”

He smiled right back, “Then that’s all that matters.”

“Now c’mon, let’s go back to practice—“ Yokoo got up and beckoned you towards him, when Kou came along “Sorry Yokoo but I REALLY need to borrow. (Y/N) for a bit.”

“Okay, see you later then (Y/N).” Yokoo exclaimed as he ran back to the rest of his teammates.

“See ya!” You shouted after him.

“What is it?” You asked, turning around to Kou.

“There’s a bunch of hands, just popping around everywhere.” Kou explained “Hanako suggested we play with them so they’ll go away, so far it’s worked.”

“What is that have to do with me?” You sighed.

Kou gave you a playfully glare, rolling his eyes fondly.

“We could use the extra hands.” He hummed, making you chuckle a bit.

“Don’t you already have a lot?” You joked. “Need more hands to get rid of the extra hands.” You snorted.

“Well will you help?” Kou asked, he paused before adding “I know you’re trying to take a break from anything supernatural right now but we could use the help.”

You thought about it for a second, but gave in when you saw the pleading look in his eyes.

“Fine.” You sighed, making Kou cheer.

“That should be the last of them!” Hanako exclaimed, jumping around in the air excitedly.

“Whew.” You say, slumping against one of the bathroom stall doors.

Out of no where, a hand appeared from the bathroom mirror, and Yashiro approached it.

“Just one left!” Yashiro informed, looking back at it.

“That actually wore me out..” Hanako whined, making you chuckle “one of those guys hit me.”

You ‘coughed’, “Sounds like a major skill issue.” which earned you a playful glare from Hanako.

“Most of the pictures are all cleaned up too.” Kou confirmed, flipping through the yearbook.

“Wait..” Kou paused “now that I look at it.. you’re wearing a different uniform in this picture.”

“That’s from last year!” Yashiro chirped, looking over Kou’s shoulder to see better “When I was in middle school.”

“Cool!” Kou exclaimed.

“But wow,” he then continued “these are really good pictures.”

“Yeah! We had a kid from the photography club take them,” Yashiro hummed “I’m pretty sure his name should be on the last page.”

You and Kou gave each other a hesitant look, and you walked over to check too. And there it was.

Mitsuba Sousuke.

Out of no where, the hand from the mirror grabbed Yashiro’s wrist, and she hummed “What is it?”

“Have you decided what you want to pl—“ the hand cut her off, a mouth morphed onto its figure.

“Come to this side.”

It began to drag her inside the mirror.

“Yashiro!” Both Hanako and Kou panicked.

“Hanako!” Yashiro managed to yelp out.

Said ghost boy quickly got up “Grab my—“ but it was too late, his fingers just barely skimmed hers as she was sucked into the mirror like some type of portal.

“She’s…” Kou paused.

“gone.” I mumbled, and as if on cue—a droplet of water fell from the sink faucet.

Panicked, Kou got up and shouted “I’m coming Yashiro!” As he tried to force himself through the mirror.

“Kid! Stop it kid! Bad kid!” Hanako yelled, grabbing Kou from under his arms to pull him away from the mirror, making you giggle a bit at the way Hanako was referring to Kou as ‘kid’ “Don’t break the mirror!”

“That’s a boundary..” Hanako began to explain “specifically number 3’s”

“School mystery number three?” Kou asked.

“Yes.” Hanako muttered in agreement.

“I mean there’s a really only one supernatural mirror leading to this place—“ Hanako got interrupted.

“The hell of mirrors, right?” You asked “I don’t know how I know that but I do.”

“Yeah, so it has to be this one.” Hanako informed before sighing “I would like to go with her immediately but..” he paused.

“To put it simply, when you go into number 3’s boundary it attacks you.. with things you don’t want to see. Things you’re afraid of.” He looked at you both before continuing “In other words, the strength of the boundary changes based on who’s inside. If I’m not careful, I could make it stronger just by going I’m there.”

But you and Kou weren’t really paying attention, you were both looking at the yearbook Mitsuba had taken pictures for.

“Hey have you two been listening to me at all?” Hanako whined, grabbing onto your shoulders.

In a panic, Kou shut the book at faced him “You were telling us about how filthy your mind is sir!”

That alone made you burst into laughter as Hanako stared in disbelief, then muttered “Yeah well.. I won’t deny that.”

“We have to figure out what to do and fast.” Kou sighed, you felt bad seeing him look so worried for Yashiro’s safety.

“Yeah.” Hanako mumbled.

“Because number 3’s approach is most likely going to depend on what Yashiro is afraid of.” You mumbled, earning a shocked glance from Hanako which turned into a smirk.

“Hey you’re a quick learner aren’t you?” He teased “You caught on faster than Mr. Exorcist here.”

“I know you said you didn’t want anything to do with the supernatural or ghosts for a while, but I think Mr. Tsuchigomori might know something.” Hanako rambled.

“So can you please help?” They asked.

“Please?” Kou begged “For your favorite exorcist.”

“And your favorite apparition.” Hanako added with a sly grin.

“Who said you two were my favorites?” You asked sarcastically, but still smiled.

“Alright fine, but if he doesn’t know something I won’t be helping out.” You finally gave in.

Hanako and Kou both cheered, jumping around like children anxious to go trick-or-treating on Halloween.

Yashiro’s yelp seemed to echo aimlessly around the dimly lit room, hands began to sprout from the floor. She winced as she was met with something, something wet.

“Water!” She panicked, scrambling to her feet.

Little scale-like pieces began to emerge on her soft skin as she went on to see where she was at, or more so who’s boundary she was in.

Thump, thump, thump.

Footsteps? She thought, swiftly turning her head in panic that something dangerous might’ve been lingering in the dark.

“Hello?” she called, trying to see what she could in the dark room.

She saw a figure, one she thought was feminine, but upon closer examination she found it was a boy. More so, a middle school boy. His eyes looked a bit sunken, as the hands surrounded him. He tilted his head up, to look at her.

“Who are you?” She asked, tilting her head as well to get a better view of him.

Yashiro had a million questions running through her head, who was this boy? Was he a ghost? What’s he doing here? She was dragged out of her trance when said boy was towering over her.

Now that he was closer, Yashiro realized how he looked and a blush covered her face. His rosy eyes startled silently at her, before speaking up.

“You..” he called.

“Yes?” Yashiro panicked, standing up straight.

The boy looked left, then right, before sighing. His once innocent look was replaced with a taunting smirk.

“..have pretty fat ankles, huh?”

Yashiro froze in place, a bit dumbfounded that someone so adorable would say something so vulgar.

The boy sighed, crossing his arms.

“Aww, I thought someone was finally here to help me, but it’s just some horseradish..”

“I-I’m not a horseradish!” Yashiro retorted defensively with a pout.

“Yeah yeah whatever.” Mitsuba sighed.

Yashiro kept asking questions, and Mitsuba didn’t have any intention to answer much or any of them, so he walked to the door at the end of the corridor and opened it.

He then walked over to Yashiro and grabbed her by the little accessories on her belt. “This way.” He said.

“This is one of the boundary’s of the seven mysteries..” he explained after a while “the hell of mirrors.”

“Or..” he paused, stopping in his tracks to look at Yashiro with an unsure look “I guess that’s it’s name.”

“But that’s all I know.”

Yashiro looked around in amazement, everywhere she turned there were mirrors of different shapes, sizes, colors, and designs. But there was one thing they all had in common.

They all had an eerie feeling to it, it sent shivers down Yashiro’s spine.

“There’re mirrors.. everywhere.” She mumbled in awe.

“Yeah, I can see that Ms. Obvious.” Mitsuba sighed, playfully rolling his eyes.

But Yashiro wasn’t paying enough attention to care, she was too busy thinking.

“I’m Mitsuba.”

Yashiro made a small ‘huh?’ noise before turning to look at him.

“I’m stuck here and I have no idea to get out of this mess.” He complained, slumping down against the railings.

“Mitsuba? You’re..” she paused, eyeing him curiously “from the middle school division, right?”

“Are you a ghost? And..” she paused to look at him “have we met somewhere?”

“I..” he paused, swallowing the lump in his throat “don’t know.”

“Who cares? None of that matters now anyways.” He sighed, his rosy eyes flinched a bit, as if maybe trying to hold back tears.

“I guess we’ll have to get out of this place first! But..” she paused “why did you bring me here?”

Mitsuba didn’t say anything for a moment or two, clearing his throat and pointing at the hands still sprouting from the floor.

“Well I wanted someone who could help me,” he explained “so I asked them to find someone for me.”

The hands excitedly exclaimed a small “yeah!” popping around enthusiastically.

“Are they friends of yours, Mitsuba?” Yashiro asked sweetly, bending down to shake their hands.

Mitsuba scoffed with an offended expression.

“Are you suggesting I’m friends with my right hand??” He shouted “Would you please not be so vulgar!”

“I didn’t say they were right hands..” Yashiro mumbled, looking over at a few left hands.

“Besides..” Mitsuba sighed “the only friend I can remember, is..”

He looked at Yashiro and then away.

“Wait why am I telling you this?” Mitsuba scoffed.

“Who is it?” Yashiro asked.

“What do you mean?” Mitsuba replied, tilting his head a bit to show his confusion.

“Your friend,” she insisted “the one you could remember?”

“It’s..” he looked hesitant to tell her, but then thought she might know where to find her, so she gave in.

“Her name’s (Y/N)..” he whispered, Yashiro just managed to hear.

“(Y/N)?” Yashiro repeated.

“Yeah.. it’s kind of a weird story. I don’t know why she’s the only one I remember. I just remember waking up, no memory of anything or anyone.”

“Just her.”

Yashiro gave him a pitiful look, and put a hand on his shoulder.

“Well,” she began “first let’s get out of here. And then, I think I might have an idea of where she might be.” she said with a smile.

“Really?” He asked excitedly, shooting up from his slouching position.

“Of course.” Yashiro confirmed.

“Well then..” he mumbled, looking up at Yashiro, leaning his head down on his arms and batting his pretty eyelashes at her “will you help me out of here?”

Yashiro felt a pang in her heart, to her, Mitsuba looked like an innocent puppy. And when he saw that look of awe in her eyes, he knew his charm worked.

“I can’t make any promises,” she cleared her throat “but this isn’t my first time in a place like this. So I’m sure we can find our way out somehow.”

“God..” he smiled softly “thank you, Yashiro.”

Yashiro put her hand over her chest, her eyes tearing up dramatically as she gushed over him.

“What is it?” Mitsuba asked innocently.

“O-Oh..” Yashiro stuttered “it’s nothing!”

She turned her head away with a smile, and each time she wasn’t looking, Mitsuba made a face to mock her.

They continued to walk aimlessly around the boundary, looking at all the mirrors as they passed by.

“Mitsuba,” Yashiro spoke up after a while, uncomfortable with the silence “this is your first time in a boundary, right?” she then gave him a proud smile “Not to brag or anything, but this is my fourth time in one!”

“It is my first time..” Mitsuba admited “but—“

“Then as your upper-classman, or- err.. woman? I’ll teach you all about boundaries!” She exclaimed excitedly, grabbing his sleeve-covered hand with her own.

After a while of Yashiro explaining the basic understanding of a boundary as they further explored the place, Mitsuba nodded and ‘okay’ed’ everything she said.

“Woah.” He mumbled in astonishment at the new information he was given.

Before Yashiro could make a proud remark, he snickered “You seem to know an awful lot about this for a living person.”

“Scary..” he said, backing away in ‘fear’ playfully.

The three of you made your way to the library where Mr. Tsuchigomori usually would be. Not giving him a chance to ask why you all are there, you begin to all try to explain at once.

“Wait, back up a few steps. One at a time.” He sighs, almost like a father telling his children to wait their turn to talk.

Before either you or Hanako get the chance to speak first, Kou beats you both to it—and explains the whole situation.

“Why are you even bothering me with this..?” Mr. Tsuchigomori groaned, rubbing his forehead as if it will soothe the annoying headache the three of you were to him.

“Because!” Hanako wailed “It’s been two hours since they took Yashiro! And I can’t get into number 3’s boundary!”

“Yeah!” You sighed with a pout, very much worried for your friend.

“The kids and I even tried begging on our hands and knees for number 3 to let us in! But it didn’t work!” Hanako cried, dramatically flapping his arms all over the place.

You smacked the back of his head “Stop that, we didn’t even go that far.” you groaned.

“But still! We would’ve if it meant number 3 would let us in!” Hanako wailed yet again, clinging to your sleeve.

“Please spider-face!” Kou finally exclaimed after seeing a moment from where he could talk.

The sudden name made you snort, clasping a hand over your mouth to stop yourself from bursting into laughter. Kou smiled, seeing as this had been the first time you’d smiled since the incident with Mistuba.

“It’s Mr...” Hanako corrected.

“Whatever! Mr. Spider Face!” Kou yet again exclaimed, clasping his hands together as if to beg, making you finally let your strained laughter flow from your lips.

“Yes! Please help us Mr. Spider Face!” You snickered, doing the same gesture as Kou, you both were now laughing maniacally at this point.

“You little..” Mr. Tsuchigomori sighed, you swore you saw his eyebrow twitching.

“I can’t let Yashiro get hurt..” Hanako spoke up, after having going silent for a while.

You and Kou both turned to him, confused by the sincerity in his voice. The Hanako you knew to be flirtatious and a pervert and sometimes even a jerk, being serious for once? It was a sight to see for sure.

“Tell me Mr. Tsuchigomori..” he uttered, finally looking up after staring at the seemingly more interesting floor for so long “won’t you help us?”

Even the disguised supernatural looked shocked to see the ghost so genuine, so with a sigh, he got up.

“Well, I do have an idea.” He hummed, walking over to a specific bookshelf.

He moved a couple of books to reveal Yako snoozing on the bookshelf. Effortlessly, he grabbed her, and tossed her over to Hanako—who luckily caught her. You, Kou, and Hanako looked down at the Nogitsune in Hanako’s arms.

“Number 2?” Hanako asked “Why?”

“Hear me out.” Mr. Tsuchigomori sighed, sitting back down at his desk “The seven mysteries boundaries each serve to oversee a certain aspect of the school.”

“My ‘book stacks’ manage records, the clock keepers manage ‘time’, and number 2 manages ‘space.” He explained “If you go through her boundary you can get pretty much anywhere in the school.”

“That includes number 3’s boundary?” You asked, looking down at Yako.

“Pretty much.” Mr. Tsuchigomori sighed.

“But I thought Yashiro busted up her boundary?” Kou asked.

“Oh Kou.. poor, sweet, dumb little Kou.” You snickered, making said boy glare at you, more like aggressively side-eyeing you.

Mr. Tsuchigomori shook his head with a fond smile, before continuing “Oh that.. all she really did was take her right to manage it. The boundary itself is still existing. But with its overseer gone.. it’s probably a mess.”

“Isn’t that right echinococcus?” He snickered, making the latter snap up with a growl.

“Shut up emo spider!” Yako retorted, making you snicker.

“Emo spider..” you snorted in an almost whisper.

“And why should I even help you! I could care less what happens to your assistant!” Yako crossed her arms, turning her head with a ‘hmph!’.

“Beecause we’re your favorites?” You asked hopefully, but she didn’t seem to budge.

“Kitsune udon.” Hanako spoke, holding up his butcher knife as if to threaten her.

“Huh?” Yako gasped offendedly “I- It’s not even my problem!”

“Udon.”

“Fine..” Yako finally huffed, knowing Hanako wouldn’t go through with it—but still wanted to help him out.

“Let’s see…” Yako hummed, walking towards the bottom of the stairs.

“This is it right?” Kou asked.

“You’re kidding right?” You asked in disbelief, giving Kou a ‘are you stupid?’ look.

“Hey I was just making sure!” Kou whined, elbowing you in the side, which resulted in you two giggling and playfully shoving each other.

“Here we go!” Yako sung, breaking your guys’s laughter “One,” one at a time you were taking steps up the stairs “two,” and another “three..”

“Four.”

The Misaki Stairs were nothing new to you, you had come here with the trio before in search for Yashiro’s friend, Aoi. And hearing that it had been all out of whack since Yashiro destroyed it’s yoshiro, you weren’t surprised to look out into the distance and for the large empty void to be staring right back at you.

Though it was filled with pretty flowers to the brim, and sunny skies something still felt off. Like something was out of place.

“It’s..” Hanako marveled, staring out in disbelief.

“Woah!” Kou grinned, looking around like a child trying to pick which ride to go on first at an amusement park “It’s so pretty now!”

“Yeah..” you murmured, not being able to shake off the eerie feeling it gave you, but seeing as the other two seemed at ease—you tried your best to forget about it.

“I’ll show you to number 3’s boundary,” Yako hummed, now in human form “just keep up.”

The “click-clack” and “tut-tut” of your shoes against the stairs as you climbed was the only thing to fill the silence. You looked down from the stairs, only to be met with a void. It was empty. So empty it made you shiver, so you moved your focus elsewhere. Perhaps towards the flowers at the bottom of the stairs…

“Hey fox lady?” Kou finally spoke up, breaking the deafening silence.

“What do you want stupid brat?” Yako spat, not turning back to even glance at him as he spoke.

“You know how before your rumor changed and you went totally crazy?” Kou asked, making you widen your eyes at the insensitive comment and elbow his side, making him glare at you as he winced “and you attacked me and the other students.”

“You like bringing up unpleasant memories, don’t you?” Yako scoffed, but you didn’t miss the way she winced at the mention of the things she had done before “What’s your point?”

“Oh it’s just.. I was wondering what that felt like.” Kou mumbled, now feeling unsure if it was okay to ask, though he felt the need to.

“What? Why would you wanna know that?! Talk about poor taste!” Yako yapped, turning to glare at Kou “I knew Misaki was the only human worth answering! The rest are lower than insects!”

Feeling a bit of pity, and knowing how curious he must have been cause you were too you placed a gentle hand on Kou’s shoulder and spoke. “Hey, give him a break. I understand what he said might have been a tad insensitive but..” you paused, looking down at the ground “recently, we had a friend of ours go a bit berserk after his rumor changed. And we- I mean Kou’s just curious if when your rumor changed, was it still you?”

“They’re kinda like you, huh number 2?” Hanako chuckled, but Yako kept her back to you three.

“Well..” Yako finally murmured as you all continued up the steps “it didn’t feel good, at least when I look back at it now. But..” she paused, and she looked unsure if she should continue, but when she looked at you two who were listening so intently, she couldn’t help but continue “It was definitely me. It was just a side of me that I kept bottled up, and it was forced out of me. That’s all.”

“Okay..” Kou mumbled, clearly unsure. You didn’t miss how his eyes shifted back down to the yearbook in his hands, and you patted his shoulder, as if to tell him I know how you feel.

“So if you tried to say something to your friend, even if he didn’t understand it, it still probably reached him.” That alone gave Kou hope, maybe. Just maybe, that last encounter with Mitsuba, he was able to talk to him.

“It doesn’t matter how warped he is.” Yako continued, seeing how he seemed a bit confused “or even if he changed form or shape.”

“That boy.. is still that boy.”

Just as you were about to ask a question of your own, Yako and Hanako—who were walking in front of you, stopped walking. “We’re here.” Yako announced.

“I assume our chat is over?” She hummed in more of a question, but then added “We’ve arrived, number 3’s boundary is straight through here.”

“Is that a mirror?” Kou asked, poking the frame.

“I don’t know.. looks kind of eerie to me. Hanako mumbled, floating above it as he exclaimed it closely.

“Yeah.. I mean..” you murmured, running your finger along the glass when you felt a force pulling you in.

You let out a surprised yelp as you were engulfed by the mirror’s glass, leaving the three in disbelief.

“Just so you know.. I’m not going further than here.”

You landed in some unknown place with a “oomph”, the place was filled with mirrors. You heard a loud yelp in what you could have only recognized as Yashiro’s voice.

“Oh right, your supposed to be nice to girls.”

You turned with teary eyes from the bright light that filled the room to find the voice, and you felt yourself freeze when you realized it was Tsukasa.

The ghost, no. The vicious supernatural who tore Mitsuba from you.

You watched as Yashiro fell to ground in deep slumber, she looked awfully peaceful given the circumstances and situation they were in. When Tsukasa got up, your eyes wandered to where Mitsuba was at.

“Now, time for you to eat up Mitsu!” Tsukasa chirped, his voice was sickeningly sweet but it made shivers run down your spine, as he held what looked like to be a heart in his hands.

“No, NO! PLEASE, NO!” Mitsuba cried, trying to back away from the entity.

Mitsuba’s eyes widened in shock when he noticed you were there, and you didn’t miss that hopeful glint in his eyes when you made eye contact, hopeful that you would save him.

“(Y/N)!” He cried, trying to get Tsukasa’s bloodied hands off of him, tears streaming down his soft skin “PLEASE, HELP ME!”

You don’t know what came over you, but you found yourself rushing over in attempt to strangle Tsukasa, but he threw you off of him effortlessly.

“Get—“ you coughed “GET AWAY FROM HIM!”

Tsukasa looked unfazed, his expression void of any emotion but it still made you shake with fear, not of what he would do to you, but of what he would do to Mitsuba.

“Now, eat up.” Tsukasa mumbled, his voice was low, and sounded inhumane. Distorted and horrifying. You wanted to get up, fight Tsukasa, and save Mitsuba. But this was no fairytale, so with a pounding headache—you watched as Tsukasa forcefully fed Mitsuba what you thought to be number 3’s heart, due to the entity that laid lifeless beside them with teary eyes.

You began to cry, feeling helpless. Tsukasa got up, walking towards you. You saw as Mitsuba looked distorted too, but he was still Mitsuba nonetheless.

“No-NO! PLEASE DON’T HURT HER! I’LL DO WHATEVER YOU WANT JUST PLEASE—“

A loud “WHAM” shook the room and two boys you could only recognize as Hanako and Kou came crashing down screaming like little girls. Kou was the first to get up, his eyes wandered to your shaking form, but you weren’t crying out of fear of Tsukasa—who he saw standing in-front of you—but when he followed your eyes to where they wandered, he realized why.

“..Mitsuba..?”

(A/N) : Oml, Act I is finished!! My hands are cramping from all the typing and I lost lots of sleep but that’s fine! But busy with French lessons but I still had time for this. This will be proofread and (hopefully) posted as well as the other chapters in Act I, tomorrow evening. Have a good day/evening/afternoon/night, and stay hydrated!! Eat smth too if you haven’t!

Timeline of Tsukasa working towards granting Kou’s wish of becoming a supernatural:

-Tsukasa first met Kou over 50 years ago in the red house and here he learned about what Kou wants most which is to “become a supernatural and be with Mitsuba forever” Tsukasa then decided that he wanted to grant this wish (I’ll explain how Tsukasa’s powers work in another post but for now just keep in mind that he doesn’t need someone’s permission to grant their wish)

-Not confirmed but Tsukasa may have been involved in Sousuke’s original death the photo he had of the red house is very suspicious

-One of the first things Tsukasa does after his first appearance is start spreading rumours about Sousuke which leads to Sousuke and Kou meeting

-Sousuke and Kou spend a couple hours together and become friends and then at the end Tsukasa punches a hole through Sousuke and then spreads a much more powerful rumour about him

-Tsukasa’s first attempt at turning Kou into a supernatural is when he says to Sousuke that if he makes Kou looks just like him then they could be together forever this fails only because of Hanako intervention

-In the beginning of chapter 30 we see Tsukasa create a new much more elaborate plan and afterwards says “I hope your wish comes true this time” and then there’s a text bubble that’s blacked out presumably because it contains information that we’re not supposed to know at that point

-Tsukasa creates a new Mitsuba who he turns into the new No.3 who he uses as a pawn to manipulate Kou

-Tsukasa’s plan board doesn’t seem to include the picture perfect arc and while that arc does include at lot of very important development for Mitsuba and Kou’s relationship it doesn’t necessarily bring Kou any closer to becoming a supernatural

-Kou finds out how a person can become a supernatural from Natsuhiko (and we can assume it was Tsukasa who had Natsuhiko tell that to Kou). Kou seems to become very interested in this idea and brings it up to both Nene and Teru who both react negatively

-In the red house Kou is confronted with a fake Mitsuba who tells him that he should become a supernatural and be with him forever. Kou knows that him becoming a supernatural is something that no one wants for him but it’s the thing that he wants most

-Now most recently Kou is reunited with Mitsuba and they get to spend some nice time together before everything falls apart. Is safe to assume that this is the final part of Tsukasa’s plan since the giant fish is right in the middle of Tsukasa’s plan board. Kou has been led into a fake aquarium with no one around except Mitsuba who is no longer able to move. I think next chapter we can expect Tsukasa to make his appearance and perhaps have him turn Kou into a supernatural

Ch 103: Random thoughts (part 1)

Aww... a really nice shot of this awesome boy? His fangs, eyes, carefree & graceful moves... perfect.

We're off to a good start, it seems!

"Tsukasa-kun said..." - By Yashiro Nene.

Really, the 2 things are perfectly structured, gorgeous first pages to start a chapter with. Well, Tsukasa deserves no less. ♡ I can go now and say, if things developed for better or worse, I can assume this first page is the whole chapter and I'm satisfied with that.

A nice way of thinking, Nene-chan! Haha, I'm yet again, proven right to assume that Amane had a reason for trying to fix the clock that has to do with "time control". A point goes to me. ~ Ah, if what I assumed to be "the reason" turns out to be true... hmm... let's not get ahead of ourselves.

I love Mitsuba's reaction. He is so right to panic. While Nene is used to this, that was his first time, and he ended up meeting "living Tsukasa" of all people, such a reaction is perfect! Speaking about Nene, she was pretty collected even in her first time. "can we talk to anyone about it", an awesome thing to suggest! Wow, Nene, I believe that thing you confidently pointed out, works for both of you, you know? The 2 of you met him, and he really talked directly to you and asked you to come play again with him (them)?

It hurts me a little... that I still have to consider this... she is not ready to talk to him, and she has a point, I have to say. Maybe she advised Mitsuba to go talk to Tsukasa because they are together after all. ....... makes sense. Ah... maybe it's still not the time for you to go to him, but we're getting closer it looks like. One day it will happen. When things get better between the 2 of you. I hope that day will come soon.

He has a thing for seeing things as "scary". And... wow... I can't say he is wrong in what he said... it's so Tsukasa... so... I agree with him...

The scene with Nene, Hanako, Kou and Mitsuba was fun,

Love his reaction. <3 Hanako's speech...

Hmm... I can't really object on his decision. It's his past after all, it's up to him whether to want to remember about it or just leave it behind. Though, I really don't know whether to take his words as he didn't remember a thing or ended up remembering 'something' at least and is just keeping it to himself? Nene... is being too thoughtful and cute as always. She is too observing in there, even.

Feels so good to see many shots of Nene observing every word Hanako says, every movement he makes really closely, caringly and thoughtfully. (reminds me of someone) Then she is deep in thought, thinking about him, his past self/situation, then present self/situation...

Then reaches to the conclusion she wants to see him happy instead of how he was always 'sad' (as she thinks) in his past and hopes he never remembers. Ah... she is really too soft, caring and gentle. But, I think... life doesn't work this way, Nene-chan... there is no running away from one's past, sadly. Thinking about it in a little different way, isn't she now the one keeping things from him and doesn't want him to know about or to remember, now? It's of course, out of her care for him and his well-being. Maybe now, she can get why at times he behaves the same way with her and keeps her in the dark about his past and some other cases?

This whole thing is getting too emotional to me now...

It's cute AidaIro seem to be trying to bring some old stuff back and remind us of them lately.

Next is,

Ok, I have to say, this whole scene was funny. Akane voiced all his heart, it was too funny.

Now this!!! *take a deep breath*

Oh... Red Kokujoudai makes the... STUPIDEST appearance ever. Really? Going right into Teru's hand? I don't care if it made a cool show and burnt it, why go in there in the first place you stupid thing? To make things clear, Tsukasa is not the one who sent it after Akane, it's his assistant and her servant. (if it was him I would have had called him stupid as well, but... is it a smart move to leave it with these 2 or to allow them/her to use it?)To some degree, it's hard for me at the moment to call that thing Tsukasa's, It's hers. It's with her almost all the time lately, working as a "spy". It's only like an accessory with Tsukasa. *sigh* If Tsukasa left it with them for a while for some reason... -don't... they use it in the stupidest way.

Also, couldn't it just get back after knowing where the boundry of No.1 is, was it needed to keep following Akane, until it fell under Teru's grap? That's really a stupid move. Can't believe it's the same thing that got in Nene's pocket during the Misaki stairs arc, and went back successfully without taking any unnecessary risks. I really laughed when it was crushed by Teru's hand and went running back to the 2, crying. So well-deserved.

It's not only it. How stupid can the 2 who sent it get? she is the one who "likes to work from the shadows"// "as it was said in one of the cards about her" Yet she, alongside her servant made the stupid thing of letting Red koku go after Akane until it got in Teru's hand, in pure day light. How cautious. Haha, nope. How stupid, actually. Will continue with this thing when we get a little further into things. Now, I need to mention a little something...

Even little Koku can make a fiery show and burn Teru's hand. Tsuaksa doesn't have a thing to do with fire? Yeah, sure. (thinking about how funny it is… that the 'first time' the minamoto brothers 'fought' the twins… they ended up with burnt hands) Ok, back to Red Koku...

Why did it run to "her" instead of "Tsukasa" exactly? As Teru said, it works for its owner, Tsukasa is its owner... or is it really... her? That's too stupid, right? This little thing plays favorites I assume, it got infected from roaming around that servant of hers (she is a dog person... so he is like... her dog), and became a second him when it comes to that girl? Which brings me to, what a nice attitude Red koku! you deserve a clap from me. Now, sakura's dog is your friend? you cry out your pain to him? you go around him all lovingly... how awesome... much more lovingly than I see here, huh?

Yet, you don't care, sir. Just saying... keep this thing away from you... you'll get filthy and infected from the dog as well. Can't afford to see you (seriously) going around that girl like koku & her dog do.

I don't find it cute or "oh! Red koku is really friendly". It's working with 2 who clearly are doing things of their own, not including his master in their "game", and don't care for him.

Be friendly with people who "care" for your master, then play with them all you want, I will find it cute then.

Comparing how Red Koku feels to me while with her to while it is with Tsukasa for a moment...

It's with her almost all the time lately (if Tsuaksa is the one who lets it, then fine......., but if not...), working as a "spy" and doing whatever she asks. It's only like an accessory with Tsukasa, while with her it's this awesome? This powerful? To be frank, it made a nice fiery show for Tsukasa back in ch 17, was a nice help in some other cases like in the p.p arc... but really... with her it's all devoted, hardworking, loyal and faithful, it's... stupid. Did this thing report what happened in No.6's boundary to its master aka: Tsukasa? or just because the assistant doesn't want him to discover a thing it didn't bother? If it did report what happened and will report what happened again in this chapter to him, then that's better. I can't sit here with that thing being a little traitor, working hard for someone other than its owner and keeps secrets from him, even. Really, where is its loyalty? It's all given to the assistant? It enjoys the company of the 2 more than its master to the point it ran to them? to the hand of the assistant and then started crying to her servant? Then roaming around him? why? As Teru said, you're supposed to be serving your master? But thing is, you are not. Really, I don't get why Tsukasa trusts her with Red koku this much, to the point she feels like a second master to it, and that servant of hers feels like a third. Is there a 4th, koku? I'm tired of this. Red haku helps Nene at times and stays with her, but as Hanako orders. Nene doesn't hold any power over it, it doesn't run to Nene, it runs to him, it reports things to him. Who is your master? the green-haired girl? I don't think so? Then you're not faithful, unlike red Haku. God, I love that little thing. Try to learn from red Haku, red koku.

Is red koku natsuhiko 2.0 at this point? Can't help but fall for the fake charm of that girl? pathetic. Too pathetic for me to call it Tsukasa's. Tsukasa is not head over heels for some girl just because she is... what?! what did she do for you?! she didn't even care to comfort you when you got back, after all you did for her, at least her servant tried.

I had my suspicions about that little thing since long ago... and it's still going that way... until when? It's getting truly annoying. Do you mean to tell me it didn't report anything that happened in No.6's boundary to Tsukasa, just as the assistant wants? Then, it went again and kept on working as a spy for her? Really? like... I'm sorry but... is Tsukasa that stupid not to notice it's not with him for a long time? In the No.6 thingy, he was assumingly unconscious during that time. Now??? He just doesn't care? This "I don't care" side of Tsukasa....... What if red koku didn't manage to escape from Teru? you would have to go face him? (While you try to stay in the dark) only because the 2 with you are too stupid and put you in this situation. I get it you had to rely on the 2's help and lent them red koku at the start of the story in the Misaki stars case, but now? while they are making foolish decisions and using your thing for... ugh... make a move sir. You just don't care to make one, huh?

*sigh* To conclude all that 'red koku' rant, if it's fully faithful & loyal to Tsukasa, keeps him updated with all that's going on on his assistans side all the time and doesn't keep secrets from him, and Tsukasa is the one who left it with them for some time and ordered it to do as they want, then I don't have any issue with Red koku anymore (forgetting about how it treats the 2, because I still don't like that while I still see them ready to stab its master in the back). Still, leaving it with them is a bad decision, they are clearly not worthy of having it around or using it. On the other hand, if its loyality goes to her and it really became a second dog to her, that would be a problem.

Ok, that took too long, back to the chapter events...

It's a simple thing for her to smile, then. Where were these expressions before? You don't even need to read books to act around Nene or the students? you're handling it too well. Take a pic? you will become a black mist or whatever in there, if you were a ghost? but, that servant of her seemed to be taking pics of her... and she didn't mind for some reason... -ah... I have no intention of going back to my "you're on the line between life and death" thing, it's to tiring to talk about and I don't care to do that, you can be whatever, I don't really care.

And really, is it needed for maids to wear their costume a week before the festival and not on its day? I see... we were supposed to see how cute and pretty she looks early? because maybe we won't get to see her as a maid later? hate to break it... she looks.. plain... normal... too normal.

Though, I hate to think... that Nene who says she doesn't feel right without her brooch is not wearing it while working for the festival, while this girl does. The mysteries of the brooches... what do they mean to their owners?

Really, shut up. Can I say... this simp is getting really annoying and extremely disgusting with him being clingy to her and roaming around her the time? Act like a man... how stupid. Deep down, I feel she enjoys it. As a dog person, it's nice to see a dog roaming around her. They fit each other perfectly. I feel like hitting that face of his with a shoe, I'm not joking. kiss my shoe you disgusting creature. He lacks any personality beside his wierd smiles/smirks/looks/and being a faithful dog to her. (no offence to real-life dogs in any thing I said in this whole post, they are awesome).

This girl doesn't seem to make up her mind... one time she is super confident.. one time she is hesitant. really? Her acting skills are too convincing, that it seems she herself fell for her own trick.

Using everyone to get to what I want is fun. - That's what you meant. LOL, let me remind you for the 100 time, you're using his 'red koku', he can simply "see" it's not by his side, and you took it for some reason. He still lets you take it. look at how much he cares. Another thing, can't he feel its powers while being used? the time in ch 95 we may say he didn't for a special reason, but now? nothing prevents him from doing so, when red koku made some huge fire. Hmm... how about red Haku...? Did it sense anything?

It feels it when kokujoudai is used or in action, right? so......?

Going back to the thing of red koku not going back to Tsukasa... maybe AidaIro don't want us to see Tsukasa just yet, but it's hard for me to accept, since from the very start, red koku was never sent for a task Tsukasa gave it, it was working for the other 2, who are clearly doing their own thing, without a care of Tsukasa and without even including him, that little... ah... don't want to call it a traitor... Chapter 06

I couldn't have been happier when I saw the living room full of people. Blinking, I gazed at everyone.

There had been a time when I had felt completely alone in this world. I hadn't had any friends, and my family situation had been terrible. But meeting Ruki had changed everything. It was so easy to realize now.

Because Ruki had pulled me into his world, I had got a new family, so many new friends, and even got my brother back. Now, all these people had gathered here to celebrate with me. It was like tiny bells were jingling in me when it hit me how precious this was.

"Umh... thank you for coming here tonight, everyone. I'm... I'm so happy to have all of you in my life."

"Let us enjoy this time together." I could feel how Ruki relaxed next to me.

"Mutual enjoyment sounds exactly what I need, fufu~"

Maria poked Laito-kun's side, but with the grin from him, Ruki stiffened again. Yet he said nothing.

"I just hope Ruki's dinner will compensate for the trouble Kazemi and I went through with the tree." Kou glanced at us.

"We don't have a reason to doubt about that." Nalia smiled and rubbed her belly. I couldn't help but wonder if it was difficult for her right now.

Ruki lifted a brow. "You finally admit your defeat then~?"

"Nah, but she's dealt with my tries recently." Yuuto brushed Nalia's cheek. "I'm sure she's happy to eat somethin' decent for a chance."

"Don't say that, Fox. Your food is decent," Nalia claimed. "Even though it was Ruki who taught you~"

"Umh!" I had to do something before the conversation would have been escalated. "But did you know that Azusa-kun and Christine made the dessert? I personally look forward to that." Gosh, I hoped it would have a bit of sourness in it. For some reason, I yearned for something like that right now.

"My Rose... did most of... the work." Azusa-kun pulled Christine closer.

Christine leaned against him. "You helped."

"Umh... but before we eat, I think we could... you know..." I straightened up a bit. Even though I knew everyone, my toes curled against the floor and my heart bounced a bit faster when I had to address them again. "...spend time together. Just hang out and catch up on how everyone's been doing."

"Yes, yes! That too. But also something else." Eri giggled. She and Yuma-kun stepped aside, revealing the sack I had seen in Yuma-kun's room. "We got something for everyone."

"Oh? Eri, you went shopping together with Yuma-kun all alone?" I giggled. "I hope you had tons of fun~"

A pinkish wave washed over Eri's face, and that was the answer I could easily settle with. Especially since any comment she might have to say was drowned in happy chatting that filled every corner of the living room.

Do you remember what Matarai said to Aki when Akihito went to editor-in-chief after returning from Hong Kong? They said it's uncomfortable to do this with your parents' connections. Did other photographers think Aki was a parent connection? Please understand that I am awkward because I am not good at English. 😅

Yes you are correct! I’ll pull up exactly what mitarai said

This is a little detail iv noticed a few times within the story where someone mentions aki’s “connections” or alludes to the fact he is a “nepo baby” (ie someone whose parents are either rich or helping them in same way with their career)

Tho this is the only time I can think of where we see it directly being mentioned in the main storyline, it strangely is mentioned more then once in a few extras. Sometimes as a continued gag.

The extra’s where aki plays the boss of a company that asami, fei and mikhail work at is one such time where it’s brought up - In this context it is used as a joke because how else would aki be the superior next to people like Asami, Fei and Mikhail- who are all big boss men in their own right.

Though this is just an extra and obviously Aki is not a real life boss, considering the other times it’s been mentioned it might be something that is actually somewhat accurate to reality.

Another time it’s mentioned is in the extra and crossover chapter “Kou Suru Finder No Hyouteki” where akihito acts as a chaperone on a school trip to Kyoto alongside sensei’s other characters from her one shot series “Kou wo Suru DNA”

Again here he mentions he “pulled some strings” to get this job. Alluding again that he might be some sort of nepo baby??

Obviously in the first panel Mitarai is bringing it up to be a meanie and suggest aki is not a pro like he is. I am guessing he is doing that because freelance work is not easy and competitive - there is definitely a little bitterness there for Mitarai. But he is probably like that with everyone who might be competing with him for a scoop. So I don’t think it’s personal 😅

Iv seen other anime where nepotism is sometimes used as troupe or as a plot device. Used in a demeaning way to make others feel like they don’t have accomplishments of their own and got everything due to nepotism - a favorite BL of mine “Sekaiichi Hatsukoi” also uses this troupe a lot. So I think in general it something that is sometimes brought up in Japanese work force. even if it’s not necessarily true. If your parents are in the industry people will think you only succeed in that same industry because of ur families connections.

Though we don’t know much about Akihito’s family, Sensei herself has at least confirmed that Akihito’s father is a photographer as well. And aki grew up and wanted to be a photographer because he watched his dad. Given how many times it’s been brought up - I am sorta under the impression that Akihito’s father might even be a famous big shot in the photography industry. Which is maybe why Mitarai is bringing it up because he knows who his dad is.

This is just my own guess, but I think it explains why Akihito is so determined about his own career. We know as the audience that he is a good noodle and would never use whatever connections he has to get a job. If he refuses any support from Asami I think it’s safe to say he probably refuses any support from his dad either. We know he is only just scrapping by, and is frugal and responsible. His stubborn attitude and his determination when it comes to his job most likely comes from a place of not wanting to be accused of nepotism.

Yet he is still accused of it anyway despite basically starting from the lowest position and doing what he can to work his way up. And doing it all in a way that he feels is honest - unlike Mitarai who is sneaky and backhanded. Aki is not willing to give up his morales for a scoop.

There aren't many scans of Doumeki and Inami yet, but I really like what I've read in the spoilers and reactions👀. Doumeki behaved quite calmly and coolly and was in control of the situation! I expected this! And Inami, as I understand it, turned out to be not as smart as I imagined. Doumeki's reaction is interesting. The secret is out. But how Doumeki will react and act. .. What will Yashiro do? I am now more and more confident that it will be Yashiro who will get rid of Inami. I hope we see Yashiro and Doumeki together in the next episode. I'm interested in their dynamics. Obviously Doumeki will behave differently. Yashiro may start to suspect that something happened between him and Inami. I think Yashiro was so happy that he didn't have to meet Inami that he relaxed too much and didn't think that Inami might do or say something to Doumeki

Yes, I agree about Doumeki! I thought I was the only one who liked that he stayed calm and collected. A lot of people seem to want him to beat the shit out of Inami but I can’t see that ending in a good way at all. I also gave Inami too much credit. I thought no way he was that stupid just to meet up with the video but he really tried to threaten Doumeki with his own sex tape. I am baffled as to how that would be a threat to Doumeki. Most likely he wanted Doumeki to hurt him badly enough to get the police after him and to get under Doumeki’s skin. He seems to know what to say to Doumeki to bother him. I really hope Doumeki still keeps his cool next chapter. I feel like Yoneda Kou put a hint in this chapter to fans that it is Yashiro that needs to rid of Inami other wise he will always be there. And maybe I am being harsh but it is not just Inami; it is the act of Yashiro seeking out violent sex whenever he feels upset. It is up to Yashiro to decide what he wants to do with his body and Doumeki can’t control that. I am also looking forward to how this will affect their dynamic. Doumeki will most likely act unusual enough to alarm Yashiro but I don’t know in what way. He could be more gentle or he could be more distant, i can only guess. As for Yashiro being relaxed, I think he got distracted because he and Nanahara got cornered. However, I have noticed that Yashiro never had to seek out Doumeki. Like he never had to save Doumeki or track Doumeki down so I am wondering if we’re going to get a change in dynamic there.

But it always goes back to Yashiro’s childhood and how any organic and natural development of his identity, self image and self esteem was forever derailed. I think that this is inescapable. I am trying to write down my thoughts but I keep having only notes with a lot of parentheses and a feeling of incompleteness, uncertain and dissatisfaction in my efforts. But I love your art and reading your thoughts and I would love to have a conversation about Yashiro’s building an identity first to survive and not going to pieces every day and then having to acknowledge his more vulnerable feelings and the people he have fallen in love with.

thank you, i'm glad you like my art and reading my thoughts (sorry for my "untreated adhd" writing style), and i completely agree that any conversation about yashiro would eventually circle back to his childhood. i also think that the feeling of incompleteness when talking about it is inevitable, yoneda kou leaves a lot to interpretation and there are just too many things to discuss even if you try to focus on something specific. regardless of that, i do hope you'll get to a point where you're happy with what you're writing, and i'd love to read your thoughts when you're done! i would also love to have a conversation about what you described, i have so so much to say, but due to my current situation i don't really have the time for any analysis or discussion. it takes me forever to at least somewhat organize my thoughts (and make sure my english is passable) and i always get carried away when re-reading chapters or checking the japanese text for certain scenes, and as much as i love doing that and want to start writing up my thoughts on saezuru more regularly again i just… can't right now. i'd love to go back to this once i'm out of this horrible time loop tho, the next chapter will probably come out by then and potentially give more food for thought in regard to yashiro finally accepting and/or opening up a little about his feelings

This chapter was crazy in my opinion. But what I would like to know is what do you think will happen in the next chapter? Obviously Hanako-kun won't be able to arrest Tsukasa like that, especially with handcuffs. So will Tsukasa hurt Hanako-kun to free himself? Or will Akane throw a tantrum and impulsively attack Tsukasa in the middle of the twins' conversation?I’d love to hear your theories 🤩

I don't imagine Akane would be eager to get Tsukasa's attention back on him... may be best to reconvene in some way with his own team lol... he should talk to Teru or something. I don't imagine he's very interested in whatever the hell Hanako/Tsukasa have going on .... (so funny for Akane to once again have to witness some little brother grief, he just had to deal with Kou & Teru fighting lol.... he must be so thankful to be an only child...)

Well, you'll have to bare with my delusions. I don't think anyone can make a very meaningful guess at 'what will happen next', Iro-sensei is so unpredictable ! We don't have any clues or hints, and there are a great many things that , COULD, happen, given EVERYTHING going on and ALL the powers at our disposal right now, on every side! ANYONE could take control of the table.

But ! I've most been fantasizing about Hanako finally saying "sigh... and I thought maybe, this time, you finally wanted to do something different. But it's the same as it ever is." and sending Tsukasa back into his boundary. He's been in his Tsueshiro this whole time... I would love his joudai to come swirl around Tsukasa, and poof him back into that paralytic prison, Tsukasa's body stuck lifeless in a coffin. Protected, 'saved'... still. Together, forever. The only way they can be together....

I have been long thinking that... everything going on, is allowed by Hanako. Has been his curiosity, his sad interest in Tsukasa's ambitions, impulses... how much has Tsukasa really 'lived', ever? Has he ever had a chance, as a ghost? Tsukasa managed to free himself from the boundary, all on his own-- maybe Hanako was surprised but, excited, by that. Tsukasa has things he wants to do? Games he wants to play? Maybe anything other than "eager to die" gave Amane a sense of wonder and hope. He's remained shockingly hands-off with Tsukasa. I like to think he's ALLOWED, EVERYTHING to transpire. "What does my brother really want?" ... but if the answer to that question is "my brother wants to leave me behind, AGAIN!!! my brother just wants to die for me, AGAIN!!!! my brother doesn't have his own dreams, AGAIN!!!! AND HE NEVER WILL!!!!" ... there's no point in Tsukasa being free.

I imagine it's always been... 'selfish'... to save Tsukasa, who doesn't ask to be saved, who only wants to give Amane possibilities. Maybe holding him eternally in his boundary is as selfish as it gets-- "stay here, so I can continue to look at you." <- not dissimilar to what Hanako almost did to Nene-chan with PP.

But Nene-chan just bonded with Tsukasa, Tsu even alluded to the notion of needing to escape prison on your own... without Hanako's help. I wonder how she would feel to see Tsukasa done away with! She just experienced Sumire, as well. She understands the ways a yorishiro is at the mercy of their boundary, their mystery. They kind of extremely do not have rights!!!! They are PROPERTY! They are OBJECTS.

And what reason would there be for Sakura or Natsuhiko to care what happens to Tsukasa, at this point? Being back in his boundary isn't inconvenient. They are at the point nothing matters except No. 7, soon, so ... maybe they could have anticipated the possibility of him being taken down again, in this way, and will simply work with Nene-chan, who might have an easier time peeling a seemingly still, dead body, anyway.

I would be really interested if yorishiro Tsukasa was simply 'gone' for the timebeing, and we only had the living 12 year old Tsukasa to contend with, via Nene-chan....

As you can see, it's complete delusion. Maybe none of this will happen haha. It's a kind of fanfiction, isn't it?

What else lol... I've thought of Tsukasa simply possessing Nene-chan in order to quickly peel the key, if everyone is suddenly opposing him. This would be such absolute misery for Hanako to observe and endure, and Nene-chan would get blasted with clock informations-- MAYBE JUST IN TIME FOR WHATEVER 12 YEAR OLD TSUKASA HAS TO SAY TO HER!

Kou: We're escaping through the window. Hold on tight!

*They jump, time slightly passes*

Ruki: Kgh ... ... They escaped ... ...

*Shin runs into the room*

Shin: Nii-san! Azusa and Yuma are attacking us!

Ruki: And the other two are?

Shin: Ayato and Kanato are fighting them. More importantly, what about Eve ... ...

Ruki: She was taken away by Kou. Chase after them immediately.

Shin: Taken away ... ... ? Even though she was with you?

Ruki: It's fine, just go.

Shin: ... ... I- I understand.

*He leaves*

Ruki: ... ... I'm still unstable, but not so much that I can't move.

Kou: ... ... At the moment, they don't seem to be coming near us.

But Shin-kun has a good nose, so we can't let our guard down.

Yui: What about Yuma-kun and Azusa-kun? You said they were holding back the others.

Kou: They were supposed to run away when they noticed I came down. We were supposed to escape once we met up.

Yui: I see ... ...

Kou: You don't have to look so worried. You also know that we are quite tough, right?

Yuma-kun and Azusa-kun will surely catch up with us shortly.

Yui: Yeah ... ... You're right.

Kou-kun, thank you for coming to save me.

*She hugs him*

*He hugs her back*

Yui: (He hugged me back ... ... When I'm in Kou-kun's arms, I feel so relieved -–)

Kou: What a relief, I was able to get you back. But this isn't the end. Ruki-kun will definitely come.

You see, Ruki-kun was dealing with extreme dizziness, just like everyone else.

Kou: ... ... It's Shin-kun! Damn it, have they caught up with us already!?

I want to wait for Yuma-kun and Azusa-kun but ... ... if we stay here they'll definitely catch us.

*He picks Yui up*

Day 30: Karlheinz | Prompts by @fruit-of-infidelity | Masterlist

((This is an excerpt from chapter four of Tainted Eve. TW: knives))

As she stepped inside the living room, she noticed all of the brothers were there. Kou, Yuma, and Azusa were sitting down on the couches….while Ruki was standing next to someone else. Her teeth grit together. Karlheinz was standing there, calm as can be, even when his eyes met hers. The brothers had thought she was hostile before, but that was nothing in comparison to the rage that filled her eyes now.

“There you are, child. I have been waiting,” he said to her.

“What are you doing here?” She tried to calm herself down. “Didn’t you get what you wanted? I’m already here.”

“You know that is not all. I came to see if you have finally accepted your role as Eve.”

“You are out of your mind if you think I’ll say yes.”

The tension in the room was making even the brothers uncomfortable. They had never seen anyone interact with Karlheinz in this way. He acted as if it was completely normal…which it was.

“It has already started whether you accept it or not. You will stay here and find your Adam.”

“Not gonna happen,” she crossed her arms over her chest. “You can try to make me stay here, but you can’t force me to find Adam. Don’t forget that it’s your own fault that your game ended before it could even start.”

He was silent for a moment. “Are you referring to what happened ten years ago? I took something dear to you. I cannot change the past, but I can say I regret my actions.”

“Is that supposed to be some half assed apology?” She glared, shoving her hands in her pockets. “It’s way too late for that now. You only regret what you did because I don’t want to go along with your plans!”

“Do you really see no happiness in finding your Adam?”

“The only thing you bring is destruction. There’s no way for happiness to be down any path you have a hand in.”

“You cannot say that for sure.”

“Hm…I suppose you’re right. There is one thing that could bring me happiness,” she suddenly grinned.

She charged at him in a flash, pocket knife in hand. He dodged before she could stab him, but she wasn’t about to back down. She turned on her heel, trying to get his side this time. The three brothers stood in shock as Ruki moved to stop her.

“Do not interfere,” Karlheinz held his hand up to stop him.

He wasn’t fazed no matter how many times she attacked him.

“I know you wish to kill me, but this is hardly productive. We both know you are unable to.”

“What did you say again?” She scoffed. “‘You cannot say that for sure’?”

As she went for his chest, Karlheinz caught her wrist. However, she wasn’t done. Her hand swiftly grabbed her other pocket knife, hoping that would catch him off guard. He caught her other wrist as well.

“Tch…”

“I will say, you have gotten better since the last time you attacked me. Using both knives is a good strategy.”

“Did you think I wouldn’t attack you again just because you gave me a new knife?” She glared. “You’re completely idiotic.”

“On the contrary, I was sure you would try again at some point. I gave you the knife in hopes you would feel a bit safer. You have demonstrated your skills to them quite nicely.”

Sayo glanced back to see the brothers were staring at her, unsure of what to think. They didn’t expect this at all. How was a normal human girl ballsy enough to try to go against the king of the vampires?

“No way…Was that your goal all along?”

“I thought they might have a hard time believing you’re willing to attack me if they didn’t see it for themselves,” he replied, releasing her arms.

She glared him down, but put her knives away anyway. It would be pointless to try again. He was on his guard and she had played right into his hands.

“Don’t misunderstand me. One of these days, I will kill you,” she stated.

He only chuckled in response. “Ruki, I suppose I must leave the rest to you. She’ll probably try to stab me again if I linger any longer. Unless you would like me to explain some things, Sayori?”

“Just get out of here.”

“I bid you all farewell,” Karlheinz said as he left the room.

what are your thoughts on new chapter. a deep dive into them. im curioius?? i think it was a really good showcase of mtsk's unhealthy aspects and vulnerability but i hope it doesnt take the wrong turn but i doubt it well because it ended on a really sweet note

i agree !! it was a good look onto the fucked-up side of it esp on kous side. i'm really bad at writing things when i dont have an argument to go against help. but i like how so far iro is showing that their relationship is messed up, and (at least so far) isn't romantisizing kou's codependancy w/ mitsuba or sorta tossing that stuff to the side in favour of just moving on .? (issue w/ other main-pair writings . lolz)

idk, i think its a very interesting topic for them and im really excited to see their future conversations about it.!!! . kou obv has a lot of complicated feelings and he has (until now, sorta) bottled it all up,,. well. even then. he's hardly talked about whats wrong. but i think he will say something next chapter, based on how it ended. ,... . .

will say i have seen some awful takes on this chapter and the characters but its okay #loveislove and whatever

I hope Tsukasa won't be able to fullfish Sakura's wish. I'm reassured I'm not the only one who think that Hanako's haters are hypocrites for not complaining about Sakura and Tsukasa's selfishness. The weirdest part is why she's going to all this trouble to leave the school when the easiest solution was to ask to Tsukasa to fullfill her wish (= leaving the school) since the start.

Me too, Anon. In order for Tsukasa not to be able to fulfill her wishes, Amane must be stopped. And I think Teru should do it, even though everyone who follows / knows me knows how I feel towards him. I mean Teru's awareness of Amane, not what he has been doing so far. The hell mirrors arc Amane was unaware and Tsuchigomori explained to him chapters 91 and 92 confirm that he doesn't know everything and someone has to tell him that God will not fulfill his wish. I think Teru is the right person for this. Teru always says "more or less" this is evasive and I think he is more aware than he tells us and could help Amane. Kou is too little experienced. It is not known if Teru will change. That's my loose theory. I really wish Amane found out …

They are hypocrites. I think so too, but not only them. I saw Hanako stans considered Tsukasa "king" for Amane saying "selfish",now is silent. The "king" turned out to be shitty (who would have expected? riiiight), Now that Tsukasa has been revealed to be manipulating (Who would expect, SHOCK, riiiiiiiiiiiiight?) And manipulating the unaware Amane and Nene all the time, they won't stand up for Amane. Just as a member of the Hanako fandom, I'm disappointed. I really don't care if Tsukasa and Sakura are antagonists should be called out, but they won't. I know that if Hanako do something again haters will be the first to complain and say how "evil " he is. I thought that Sakura would be called out for her selfishness, because a lot of people said she was actually a good person. Absolutely nothing.Sakura got a support for her selfishness because " ship uwuwu" - this is scary!!!! Also doesn't surprise me. Sakura may be selfish, but Amane not. The bias and hypocrisy in this fandom shows ever greater levels. The thought of what comes next scares me.

Tsukasa is just fulfilling her wish and uses Amane and Nene to do it because he can't do it himself. Tsukasa must get rid of all Yorshiros to fulfill her wish.f he could otherwise grant her wish I think he would, I guess , it seems there is no other way to fulfill her wish. It's like Yorshiros is creating a seal that traps her in school for some reason. She must be really dangerous since the Yorshiros keep her at school.

I WROTE A SHORT TBHK FIC BC LATEST CHAPTERS HAD ME FEELING SOME TYPE OF WAY 😭💕 SPOILERS THIS TAKES PLACE IN A PERFECT WORKD WHERE THEY GET AOI BACK SAFE FROM THE NEAR SHORE AND EVERYTHING GOES BACK TO NORMAL THE NEXT DAY🙃😭💕☠️ ANYWAYS I WANTED TO POST BEFORE THE LATEST CHAPTER COMES OUT AND ULTIMATELY CRUSHES ME SO WITHOUT FURTHER ADO MY FIC:

(Written in Yashiro POV)

Aoi turned the corner & I was overcome with so much emotion I ran to her. I mean she was just dead in the Near Shore with Hanako-kun 12 hours ago. I’m so glad we got everything back to normal. “Aoi!!!” I yelled as I ran with arms outstretched toward her. She looked up & flashed her perfect popular girl smile as always & responded, “Hi Nene-chan!” I sobbed as I pulled her into a hug, “I’m so glad you’re back Aoi! I hope Hanako-kun wasn’t too weird to you like he is to me especially since now we’re officially “dating” I guess if you can call it that—“ She cuts me off with a confused expression, “W-what? Nene you’re not making sense??” Uh oh. Did Aoi forget everything?! Hanako-kun didn’t tell me if she’d remember anything or not but I guess that’s what I get for not outwardly asking him in the first place. “Nene…?” Aoi looked concerned. “I—uhh—umm—“ I tried to make up an explanation but nothing was coming to my flustered brain. “Who’s Hanako-kun? I’m so proud you finally got a boyfriend! Congrats Nene-chan!” She smiled warmly at me, “When do I get to meet him? Which class is he in?” My face went pale. I did just let it slip that Hanako-kun & I are dating didnt I? Ugh, popular girls pick up those details so easily but I mean I thought she knew already due to everything that happened yesterday. “Aaaaahhh……” I said sheepishly, putting an arm behind my head, “I gotta go!” I quickly ran out of the classroom, straight to the old building & dropped to my knees on the floor. If I go to Hanako-kun I don’t know what he’d say. If I go to Tsuchigomori sensei he might tell me the opposite of what I wanna hear. I just need to talk this out with someone. At that moment I realized Kou-kun was standing in front of me. “Are you ok, senpai?” He asked, staring down at me. I nodded & stood up, “Yeah, I’m fine Kou-kun. Perfect timing actually!” He raised his eyebrows, “Really?” “Mmhmm!” I nodded fervently, “I actually needed to ask you something…” I trailed off not knowing how to quite approach the subject of accidentally telling Aoi about Hanako-kun & I. “Well what is it?” Kou-kun inquired. “Aaaahhh…. I may h-have….um…it’s really a funny story I ran into Ao-chan & I—“ “You told her about yesterday didn’t you senpai…” Kou-kun finished for me. I nodded & he sighed. “How much? “ “Well I didn’t realize her memory would be wiped so I may have accidentally let it slip that Hanako-kun & I a-are…..you know…” Kou’s face twisted slightly as I mentioned Hanako-kun. He didn’t seem too excited for us when we first announced it but put on a happy face whenever we were together & the topic came up. “A-and now she wants to meet Hanako-kun…..” “Nene you didn’t!” Kou exclaimed. I sighed, “I did. I’m sorry Kou-kun I thought she remembered!” “Well….” Kou searched for the words to say, his eyes darting around the hall, “I guess we’re just gonna have to re-introduce them!” He puffed up his chest & his tone turned a bit happier. “You think so? What will Hanako-kun say?” I panicked. “He’s met her before! They’ll just have to meet again!” Kou put a friendly arm around my shoulder.

~Later~

I was laying on the bathroom floor with Hanako-kun taking a bunch of selfies on my phone with him. He seemed a bit suspicious of me. “Uh…Yashiro?” He asked while sitting up. I looked over toward him. The setting sun was coming through the window at just the right angle so that you could really see that Hanako was in fact a see through ghost. “Yeah?” “It’s not that I don’t like taking photos on your high tec magic box but it seems a bit out of character for you to be taking so many pictures. Is something the matter?” He leaned in close, caressing my face with his cold hand, “You know you can tell me~” “Agh!” I jumped backwards, blushing bright red, “I-It’s n-nothing—“ “You’re a bad liar Yashiro.” He laughed. “It’s for Aoi…” I sighed. The smile dropped from his face, “Why do you want photos of us for Aoi?” His voice became emotionless. Hanako-kun’s so hard to read. He acts tough but underneath it all he’s just a kid like me. It was no use trying to hide it from him anymore, “I might’ve accidentally told Aoi we were dating & because *somebody* didn’t tell me her memory would be wiped she obviously thinks you’re alive & wants to meet you!” Hanako-kun rolled his eyes, got up, & floated toward the window, sighing, “Dammit Yashiro what am I gonna do with you?” I squealed in panic, “I’m s-sorry H-Hanako-kun…” I sat up & covered my eyes with my arms. He must’ve floated over to me since his voice spoke right next to my face, “Hey….” He removed my arms from my face to reveal my teary eyes. He jumped back a little, startled by my tears. “Y-Yashiro! I—uhh—h-hey—it’s ok Yashiro—“ He stumbled through his words & quickly pulled me into a hug. I hugged him back. “Y-You’re not mad…?” I cried. He shook his head, “Frustrated to be honest….but not mad, no…” I sniffled & pulled away from Hanako to which he reached his arms out hesitantly toward me as if he was unsure I was ok. I grabbed his hands, locking my fingers in between his, “I’m ok Hanako-kun.” “Not to um…change the subject..” His face turned bright red, “Y-You know since we’re…..” A pause as we locked eyes, “ I told you you can call me A-Amane or even just Yugi-kun if Amane’s too casual….but that’s only if you want to!” Hanako-kun seemed flustered now. My eyes widened a bit with the realization that Hanako-kun was finally opening up to me more. Oh my god! My first real boyfriend & he wants me to call him by his first name! How romantic!! “Ok, Amane…” I said. He looked like he was about to pass out after that. “H-Hanako—I mean Amane!! Are you ok?!” I was panicked now since he didn’t look so good. “I’m fine, I’m fine…” He waved & couldn’t keep eye contact with me. So this is what it’s like to have a boy in love with you?! Is he nervous about me?!?!! My heart was aflutter. “Sorry to break up the love fest but wasn’t there something we needed to discuss..?” Kou-kun interjected. He was here the whole time, leaning against one of the bathroom stalls since I brought him to clean toilets with me. “Oh right!” I laughed nervously. Hanako tried throwing his kokeshi at Kou. Kou ended up catching it, “Come on dude!” “It’s not my fault you’re a peeping Tom!” Hanako argued. “Senpai invited me! I cant help it you removed yourself from socialization amongst girls for 50 years.” Kou put his hands up in defeat. Hanako-kun pulled his knife out. I jumped on him & wrestled it away from him, “No! We’re not killing Kou-kun! Be the bigger person!” Hanako-kun wouldn’t look at me, fear in his eyes. I grabbed his face reminiscent of how he’d handle me, “Amane look at me! No stabbing or murder please!” He slowly nodded looking at me finally. “So you’ll be fine then if I bring Aoi by after school tomorrow?” I smiled at him. He sighed & put his hat back on his head since it’s gone flying after I wrestled the knife from him. “Not like I have much of a choice.”

~Next day~

“So Nene-chan show me what he looks like! Is he cute??” Aoi was rapid firing questions at me about Hanako-kun all day. I tried to play it off but her popular girl charms were starting to wear on me. I pulled out my phone & flipped to one of the selfies from yesterday. “This is us!” I held my phone out at her & couldn’t bring myself to look. “Um…Nene..?” Ao-chan seemed confused. “Eh?” I looked at my phone. Of course how could I be so stupid? Hanako-kun doesn’t show up in photos except as a scary black blob. “Ahahahh….it was a joke!” I lied. “You’re a terrible liar Nene.” Aoi laughed, “It’s ok if you don’t really have a boyfriend. It’ll happen eventually! I believe in you!” “I do too have a boyfriend!” Something came over me as I grabbed Aoi by the wrist & dragged her to the girl’s bathroom. I usually was never that forceful but when it came to defending Hanako-kun I always lost my cool. “Hana—I mean Amane!! I’m back & I brought Ao-chan to meet you!” I yelled out. “Nene-chan a-are you sure you’re ok??” Aoi seemed really scared & concerned for me. Hanako peeked his head out from the stall. “Hi Yashiro.” He smiled at me, “You do know she can’t see or hear me, right?” I nodded, “I know but I had to do something! She thought you weren’t real and—“ “This isn’t funny Nene!” Aoi seemed really upset. I was about to say something when Hanako-kun grabbed my notebook & pen from Haku-joudai who must’ve stolen it from my stuff in the classroom & walked past me with it sitting in front of Ao-chan. He opened the notebook & began to write. Aoi jumped back scared. “Nene! The pens floating!” “It’s ok Ao-chan! This is Hanako-kun—er..Yugi Amane-kun….my boyfriend!” I tried reassuring her. Hanako set the pen down & Aoi & I looked down at the paper which read: ‘Hi. Sorry about how weird this must be for you but I’m Hanako-san of the toilet, 7th wonder of Kamome Academy, & now Yashiro Nene’s boyfriend. Nice to meet you.’ “Very funny! Using the ghost stories! Hanako-san’s a girl with a red skirt & bob haircut!” Aoi spat at me. Hanako-kun sighed, “I tried.” At that moment Kou-kun ran in, “Hanakoooo!!!! I’m gonna pound your ass this ti——I mean Akane-san, Senpai, hi there.” Aoi-chan screamed, “What are you doing in the girl’s bathroom pervert!!” “I—umm—“ Kou looked toward me. “He came to see Hanako-kun. He always comes to say hi after school.” I said matter-of-factly. “Y-yeah!” Kou nodded and agreed, “Hi Hanako!” He looked toward the notebook where Hanako-kun was sat & smiled & waved. “Hi kid…” Hanako said, a bit amused. “Wait—you can see someone?” Aoi asked Kou. Kou nodded, “Yeah! That’s Hanako-kun—er well…you probably know him as Hanako-san of the toilet but he’s a cool ghost! He helps people & he’s dating senpai now I guess-“ Aoi turned back to me, “Can…..Hanako-san of the toilet hear us…?” I nodded, “Yeah! He’s sitting right here!” I pointed at the floor where Hanako was sat with my notebook. “And…..Hanako-san is a….boy???” Kou & I both nodded & said yes at the same time. “Ok then…..why can I not see him but you guys can? Is he just not showing himself to me….?” Ao-chan sounded a bit hurt. I looked to Hanako who returned my gaze with a reassuring nod. “Only some people can see him. Not everyone otherwise you would’ve noticed every time when he visited me in class.” I laughed nervously, “That’s why you saw me whispering to myself so much!” “Ok….then….” She looked back towards the notebook, “Hanako-san is it? I-I’m Akane Aoi….nice to uh….meet you?” Hanako started to write again, ‘Likewise. Yashiro’s told me a lot about you.’ “Y-you have?!” Aoi-chan gasped & looked back to me. “Y-yeaaahh….I guess I have…haha…” I spoke awkwardly. Aoi & Hanako ended up having a multi-page conversation, the more she spoke the more she seemed to grow comfortable with the idea of Hanako-kun. By the end of it all, she seemed genuinely excited for me and him. Kou was even joining in the conversation acting out how he almost exorcised Hanako when they first met. Ao-chan ended up telling me she was really happy for me, hoped it worked out, & that she’d want to talk to Hanako
