thoughts on cuddy's ending?
Oh. My. God. Nonnie!!!!! *takes a deep breath*
Tumblr media
I HATED IT!!!!!!!! Cuddy as a character has always worked against the show's (*coughs* misogynistic) logic (not to mention House's logic), she's the driving force behind a vast majority of instances!!!!! The light, the heart of it all!!!! (no wonder the s8 filter is so dark djdjdjdjksk) After seven years of being a series regular, she deserved so much better. Hell, she deserved so much better while she was still a part of the show!!! Buuuuut, me being me, I had to figure out an in-universe explanation for *gestures vaguely* whatever that finale was and an explanation that satisfied me well enough (It's dark. I'm a fan of the imaginary friend!Wilson theory, ofc it's freaking dark), so here you go (read at your own risk):
Okay so, Cuddy's primary purpose at the beginning of the show is to be House's narrative foil, right? He rebels against authority -> she's authority personified. He's "the outlaw" and she's all about "the rules". But then there's s2 and by the end of it, they start to blend into one another for the first time (there are little tiny clues at the beginning of the season tho, like Cuddy's famous computer password, that imply that she might not be your classic uptight overachieving boss lady WHICH I ADORE ABOUT HER #cuddyfanclub4everrrr)... or better yet they (just as the audience) start noticing the similarities that have always been there, but weren't acknowledged. One giant parallel that was developed with time has to do with the way their bodies betrayed both of them (which will later happen to Wilson as well :/) and it's maddeningly interesting. But it also positions Cuddy as the heart of the show for the first time because House finds her ways of dealing with her situation admirable. Ridiculous! But admirable. (not to say that chronic pain equals infertility, but you get what I mean) Which is kind of like his whole perception of her, almost like she shouldn't even exist, Cuddy is that contrasted with the world from House's perspective. This is why he mocks her, he's trying to find the "real" truth within her, because she just can't be carrying her truth for everyone to see like she does (can be applied to Wilson too, tho Wilson is, if you ask me, more intertwined with House's identity than Cuddy is, I feel like House views Wilson as the best part of himself and Cuddy as someone whose existence symbolises something larger and brighter than who he is), she must somehow be as awful as everyone else is, horrible like he is. (what he doesn't get here is that he's the only person who gets to see that truth so easily and it's not a decision Cuddy has made consciously, it's a decision she didn't even know she was making) BUT!!!!! She proves him wrong (almost) every time. Because Cuddy genuinely is caring and kind and patient and loving. And when s7 comes to an end, Cuddy has done what House would have done if he was in her shoes. She broke up with him and that decision brought her closer to the part of House that House hates, closer to everyone else. What House does in the s7 finale is the ultimate act of self-hatred, you know? It's terrifyingly twisted and more insane than perhaps anything he's ever done. He's crashing into Cuddy's house, but his aim is to destroy himself. And scare Cuddy away, scare her so much that she never comes back. I think House needs that knowledge of a certain light or hope being out there, just a proof of its existence, even if it doesn't directly affect him at that point and I don't think he realizes he needs that kind of assurance, not before he loses Cuddy completely. Because that's when he starts to worry that he might have changed her, not necessarily for the worse, but made her a little more like the rest of the world (which is such a faulty assumption, but that's House for ya), a thought planted by Cameron back in s6.

I’m sure u get this a lot but I’m new so I have to ask: why do you ship Jaime and Cersei??? Absolutely no shame people are allowed to enjoy anything as long as it doesn’t hurt others. Just genuinely curious as to why!!
No worries! Actually, I don't have that question that much or at least, less than I had back in the days and most of the time it was haters 💀 I know I had an ask similar to yours once that I replied but it's been years now and I can't find it anymore. Anyway, I ship Jaime and Cersei because they fulfill most of my favorite tropes.
Forbidden Love: Well, their love is forbidden for obvious reason (tho I think it's unfair for them when the T*args did it for centuries but that's part of the point of the story) and I'm such a sucker for this trope. This is basically my favorite trope ever. I grew up loving Romeo and Juliet, this is their main trope, so it made sense JC would end up being one of my ships one way or another, and that's probably why I have a few other incest ships like Jonsa and Cesare & Lucrezia 😂
Secret Relationship: Goes in pair with forbidden love tbh. They have to keep their relationship secret because it's dangerous and that's the thrill of it.
Long Term Relationship: Oh God, that's another trope I love to death and Jaime and Cersei fit it perfectly, from birth to death. I love seeing my ship being actually together, you know. I prefer that over pinning tbh and I love seeing them on the long run and I've got 8 seasons with them being together. (Well, except for the beginning of S8 but whatever 🤪)
Domestic: God, we don't have it enough in the show but the little we had was so good; Jaime hanging in Cersei's room (6x06, they had dinner together!, or 7x03), waking up together, pregnancy announcement... Making plans to keep the throne too tho lmao Anyway, I'm a sucker for domestic bliss and all things of that kind and damn, S7 served me so well.
I probably have a few more tropes I love and that fit them but that's the ones at the top of my mind right now and my faves.
And then, I'd add we have some carefully crafted parellels (I've made a few gifsets about it), subtexts, and small details like Cersei being worried about him. Their story is just so perfectly done and compelling imo, I can't express how much I love it. And they are a big part on why the story as a whole started. I also love the fact they can be passionate though, they can be soft and tender as well, like we can see in 8x05.
And last but not least but, no ship has inspired me as much as they do. I always have a gifset or a fic idea running in my head, probably because they fit my fave tropes and it's so interesting to work with them.
I hope this answer give you some clues on why I love and ship them because honestly I could spend hours talking about JC 😂 and be just 🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️
Have a nice day! 💖

Dot. Why have you betrayed me by using the goddamn Groucho emoji??? A betrayal of the highest order.
I have no fucking clue what I can even do with this. Something featuring a disguise? I can't think of anything with any notable costumes. I've searched my files for any mention of glasses or moustaches or masks, and I'm only getting things I've already published or things that aren't fic. I can't believe you've done this.
You're getting a random WIP, I give up 😩
This rather messy excerpt is from a canon-universe two-person love triangle fic in which Dean kind-of-accidentally started a recipe blog back around the tail end of S8, and then kept it going for years. The actual fic diverges during Tombstone after Jack kills the security guard, when Cas decides that he should take him to live in the house where he and Kelly had being staying and raise him away from hunting. This excerpt is from a flashback to 2013, when Dean initially starts the blog for hunt-related reasons.
Propping the laptop on his knees as Sam drives them back to the motel, Dean cracks his knuckles and pulls up the blog site to get started. "Okay. What should the username be?" "Does it matter?" "I guess not." Dean types in nope, and a pop-up message covers the screen. YOUR USERNAME MUST USE 7-10 CHARACTERS. "Okay, it says it has to be 7 characters." "Dude, just put anything." Dean rolls his eyes, then huffs and types anything. "Anything is taken," he says. Sam doesn't respond. Dean rolls his eyes again and types out a few other ideas, getting an irritating "this username has been taken" pop up every single time. Impala67? Taken. DeanRules? Taken. SamSucks? Taken. He snorts quietly and saves that information for later, figuring he can send Sam a link when he's not expecting it. "Ughhh," he groans. "Next hunt better just be a basic salt and burn. Actually, how about--" SaltAndBurn YOUR USERNAME MUST USE 7-10 CHARACTERS He hits backspace. Takes out the AND and re-types the rest. REGISTRATION SUCCESSFUL. "Finally,"  he says, and then-- "Shit. Typo." The username he's managed to get for himself is SaltBun. Which... whatever, it's not like he's actually planning to use the account for anything. Once he's logged in, the site forces him to answer several question in a row about his interests. Little pictures representing various topics. Cooking? Sure. Cars? Yep. Movies? An incredibly vague topic, but it'll do if it lets him complete the registration already. The landing page he finally gets directed to is pre-populated with posts the site algorithm thinks he'll like, and right there at the top is a recipe for an apple pie with cheddar cheese baked into the crust. It looks incredible. His mouth waters just looking at it. "Oh, hell yes," he says. "You find something?" Sam asks from the driver's seat, glancing over expectantly. "Oh, uh-- no, not yet." "If you're looking at porn--" "It's 9:30 in the morning and I'm in the car next to you, why in the fuck would I be looking at porn? Just gimme a minute." Pulling a face, he quickly clicks the little save for later button at the bottom of the pie post, and navigates over to Lacey's blog. Here's hoping she's said something that'll help them track down the thing that took her.

Hi!! First love all your meta! It’s so fascinating to read and as a film student a lot of your analysis is how I’ve analyzed it though there’s always something I didn’t notice that you did!
Quick question - you mentioned waiting 8 seasons for a ship where one married and had a kid then they got together and one died…and it sounds just so familiar but I can’t put my finger on it. What show / ship was that?? (Btw I agree with everything else in that post lol)
Hi, lovely Nonnie! Awwww, thank you so much for the kind words! :D Ooooh, you're a film student, I'm sure you're kicking ass at your studies, and I hope you're enjoying it, too! Please never hesitate to come talk to me about anything film related if you feel like it, I love TV and films in general. And I'm so glad we analyze Buddie the same way, and thrilled I can still add something new to the mix! *hugs big*
Oooh. OK, IDK if there's more than one show out there that fits that description, though I suspect the answer is sadly yes, 'coz TV showrunners can be pricks, but in my case, I was referring to The Blacklist, and the ship is Ressler and Liz (aka Keenler).
I wasn't gonna ramble about them, 'coz while I've watched the entire show, I was never an active part of the fandom, but since I got this ask... Let me just preface this by saying I think TBL is an excellent show, but it IS set in a dark world, so it’s not necessarily for everyone, unlike 911. Also, I will ramble for a sec, but I promise everything I’ll say will relate to Buddie at the end.
So, one of the things that makes TBL excellent is it's a show built around a central mystery, that they manage to make complex enough in order to stretch the mystery over 8 years, and yet the solution we learn in eps 821/822 (the finale of s8) is so organic that it actually fits EVERYTHING, all the little clues, insanely well, down to what seems like nonsensical throwaway comments in s1, and making even clues that seemed to contradict each other finally make sense and fit together. But that requires A LOT of planning ahead. I'm not saying things didn't change along the road when it comes to the exact sequence of steps that led to solving the mystery, some things did, like Liz's actress getting pregnant and that being written into the show, but the end goal of what the solution was and how all the pieces of the mystery puzzle fit together, and what elements would be necessary to get us there, they clearly had that goal in mind and it never changed, allowing them to plant hints, partial reveals and promises in such an effective manner along the way.
This amount of planning ahead is also relevant to Keenler. 'Coz when I watched s1, at first I didn't notice Ressler and Liz. TBL built such a mystery around Tom for Liz to decipher, it didn't look like she was even noticing anyone else, while Ressler had a laser focus on Red (after all, he's been chasing Red for 5 years). But by ep 104, it's Ressler's arms that Liz allows herself to fall apart in, and it's clear he probably already liked her to some degree (the way he checks up on her a little earlier in that ep is SO tender), but when Liz lets go, you can tell that this really managed to break through the walls he had built around himself. Still, what sealed things for me, that the show was planning on doing something with Liz and Ressler at some point, was ep 105. Because it seems to be keeping Liz completely preoccupied with the Tom mystery, yet you can tell she's taken a real interest in Ressler, unlike anything she was showing towards any other Task Force member at that point. It made the special attention they're paying to each other mutual, and highlighted their bond. So 105 is when I became convinced something is coming for these two. I just didn't know when.
Lemme tell you, I did not expect the show to drag out things with Tom - when he's clearly implied to be the wrong guy for Liz from the start - for as long as they did, and to throw in a wedding and a baby, too. Seriously, everyone shipping Keenler deserves a medal. And if you think we only have crumbs with Buddie at times, with Keenler we had microscopic ones. I once went an entire season on the way Liz looked at the spot on her arm that Ressler touched while he tried to comfort and reassure her. But I kept in mind that by ep 301, Ressler's feelings for Liz were kinda canon in my book. Red, whose devoted parental love for Liz is one of the reasons I kept watching, mentions the importance of Ressler's feelings for Liz (though he doesn't explicitly call those feelings love, which means that it's still not technically canon, the way Red words it when he could have talked about the importance of Ressler's friendship or loyalty to Liz, that's why I think it is subtextually canon from this point on). So what I took from this was that Ressler is already in love with Liz, that Red knows (and quietly approves, which is echoed in the talk he and Ressler have in ep 901), and that if Ressler wasn't aware of his own feelings before, he had to be aware of them after Red's words.
And yet, we still had to wait until 717 for Liz to explicitly express how much Ressler means to her, that she can't live without him, and until 801 for them to even kiss.
But the reason why we had to wait so long is a part of what makes this ship so good! Because the first 8 seasons of TBL are about the tragedy of Liz, whose fate is to a great degree shaped by the lies and manipulations of key people in her life. Some lie to her because they believe they're protecting her (like Red and Dom), while others lie to her 'coz they want something from her (like Tom and Tatiana Petrova). But as Liz says when she finally confesses her love in 819, Ressler was the one person who didn't lie to her, who was just there for her. That makes him truly stand out in her life. But it's more than that. What Tom wanted from Liz was her love and he didn't care what he had to do in order to get it, he was willing to lie, manipulate, kill and even put Liz in harm's way in order to be with her. Ressler, in contrast, never wants anything from Liz. He never demands anything from her, not even her love. He's content to be in her life and love her while being 'just a friend'. He loves her so long and so quietly, so unassuming and undemanding, it breaks my heart. He's made aware of his own feelings by 301 at the latest, and yet at the end of s3 he has to watch Liz marry another man. More than that, Ressler physically put himself between her and a rain of bullets so she could marry that other man. Just think about those levels of quiet devotion and love, not once complaining or asking for things to be different.
And it's exactly why he's the right man for Liz. Those literal YEARS of the ship being nothing more than hints and subtextual promises for something at some point in the vague future, they happen for a reason (as much as I wish Ressler and Liz got more time together before her actress left the show).
Ressler is in love with Liz for years, and when they finally happen, it's because she's finally ready for it. He's the one person who lets her decide her own fate. So even then, after Liz first kisses him, Ressler makes no demands or assumptions, he lets her decide what step to take next and when. To me, that makes their love story even more beautiful, as short and as tragic as their canon time ends up being. Because you just get how much it means, and you also know that to Ressler every moment they spent together counted, even before Liz kissed him. I am never gonna be normal about how much those two love each other (Liz too, even before she figured it out. The way she was there for Ressler and cared about him long before she worked out what it means and what they could have together).
And now I'm gonna circle back to Buddie, 'coz here's the thing. After roughly 3.5 years of Buddie, we CANONICALLY have more explicitly deep and meaningful moments between Buck and Eddie (I mean, the legal guardian talk ALONE, I wail) than we ever got with Keenler during the first 7 seasons of TBL. And the other Love Interests that Buddie got so far have been far less impactful or developed than Tom was. So if TBL could make good on its own promises and hints along the years, and let Keenler go canon as a couple, by all accounts Buddie should as well. I'm saying, I'm actually weirdly good with calling out ships early on. When the two characters are each canonically attracted to the gender of the other one, I almost never miss, no matter how long it takes for the ship to go canon and what they have to go through in order to get there. And those ships usually end up being the endgame ones, too. Here and there, I even managed to correctly call out a ship that went canon even though this entailed a same-sex attraction reveal. I've also had same-sex ships that I knew would never go canon, but I could usually tell the show would only ever hint at the couple and play around with the subtext, but it would never actually go there (for example, Supernatural). So really, if Buck and Eddie were canonically queer, or an opposite sex couple, I would have had no doubt that they would happen. And when comparing them to canon ships like Keenler, I also have no doubt Buddie should happen. And that they could, even after years of appearing as if they never would and in spite of many other LIs, even seemingly really significant ones. Will they? That's a mystery I can't solve, not yet, though I CAN tell you that I don't have that sense I had with SPN that there's no way the show would ever go there. We just gotta wait, watch and find out. But this is another little piece from me to all of you, about why I have faith and why Buddie def are the right fit for each other (as I mentioned repeatedly in my seasons 1 to 3a Buddie meta).
Sorry for the length, thank you for the ask and please have a look at my ask tag if you're looking for another ask reply. xoxox

I've gotta say, I find the concept of Bedlund trying to Ben-Hur Jensen absolutely hysterical. I'm just imagining Jensen getting a script and being like "Ben?? What's this? Is this gay? This seems gay????" and Ben just soothing him like a frightened horse.
Hahaha - Look it wouldn't be the first time. What is this verb we're working with? Okay. Strap in everyone. The Multi-Oscar-winning 1959 movie 'Ben Hur' had a bunch of gay subtext. The writer, the director, and the second lead actor all knew that Charlton Heston's character, Ben Hur, was gay. However, one person didn't find out until the 1990s: Charlton Heston. The consensus on set was "Don’t tell Charlton, because he’ll freak out." and when Heston found out in the ninties, freak out was exactly what he did. (x) [the movie may have gotten a reference from Misha back in season 6 (x)]
Whether this happened with Jensen on SPN depends on two things.
Was the character of Dean intentionally written as Bi and, if so, at what point did that become true?
Did anyone tell Jensen? Did he figure it out? if so, when?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I personally DO believe at this point, I really do, that Bedlund - Ben Hur'd Jensen. I think it was part of the writers room but not all of it, until it was. (Which RN I believe finally happened under Dabb.) I think Jensen wasn't in on it, until he was. So for me? I think he really was in the dark at one point. But at what point that changed? Probably only he can answer that question. and RN? He ain't talking.
In the meantime we can only look at things Jensen has said on the subject - Like this unbearably ambiguous GIF set from @nikadd. Was this tongue in cheek? Legitimate ignorance? You're killing me, Jensen. That cheeky lil smile, Jensen. Nvm - I'm going to kill you instead. It's for my own survival. No hard feelings right? You understand.
UH OH HERE COMES A CUT TO HIDE A LONG DERANGED POST...
We can look at the text for number 1 - and I do that uh - a lot - see the blog name #Dean Was Always Bi
For number 2 we can look over some points when we got clues from what Jensen thought was going on [regardless of whether they make sense based on his jacting or directorial choices I guess] and get left wondering whether at any point he felt pressured to lie for his career, for self protection, or to protect the narrative from the network:
2010 - 'We're missing the gay angel' (x) (Season 5 gag reel) (x) “Sorry man, not what the show’s about.” Jared: One of the good and bads about playing the straight [non-comedic] character on the show… Jensen: What wait? I’ve been playing him so wrong
2012 / S8 - Trenchcoat - Jensen talking about how sometimes they change the lines because they're way too gay. Calls Cas a third brother
2012 - "What's Destiel?" Ben Edlund: That’s some weird shit. Jensen: Is this something that you created, Ben? Ben: You don’t want any part of that.
“Don’t ruin it for everyone now” “I still don’t know what the question was. I’m going to pretend I don’t know what the question was.”
2013 @ JIB, re Dean’s reaction to Aaron’s flirting in the season 8 episode Everybody Hates Hitler,  (x)
“And the scene wasn’t written to be that kind of - I mean - It was written to be awkward.  Ben Edlund wrote the - my favorite line in that scene was ‘carry on . citizen’ that was - I almost couldn’t say that with a straight face I was laughing so hard.  But it was - you know - it was comedy. It was a comedic moment in the show and fortunately Dean gets a lot of the comedic moments in the show and it was just, you know, Ben was poking fun at the fact that - you know, how can we make this very kind of manly, heterosexual guy uncomfortable - uh -you know, or  or have him back on his heels and throw him off his game a little bit.”
The thing is - Bedlund and Phil Sgriccia made very clear on the commentary track that THEY saw this scene as a 'romantic comedy kind of fluster' "This potential for love in all places."
Ben Edlund calling the writer’s room a boy’s club in 2013 (x)
Misha Collins telling Destiel fans they aren’t Crazy in 2013 after some executives said they were (x).
2014 Jensen says he was glad there wasn’t much Dean and Cas in season 9  - HA Hah HAH (x)
“I think the whole Cas and Dean thing has gotten out of hand”  “I don’t think there’s anything secret to their relationship even though a lot of people wish there was” REMINDER - that season we got the nightstands acknowledgement and “play him like a jilted lover” and the “he dumped me James” cut and -
I certainly know that Misha and I don’t play that. SIGH. they Ben Hur'd Jensen.
2014 - the fan fiction joke - 10.05
“I didn’t have a positive reaction, The first time in I think 200 scripts I went and sat down in the showrunners office and said, ‘What in god’s name are you doing?! Why? I need to understand why this is happening.’” “[Carver] gave very eloquent answers and did a great job of explaining why we were doing what we were doing, I guess I had been aware of this ‘fan fiction’ for a while and I felt like maybe if I ignored it, it would eventually go away. When I read it in the script that is what I do for a living and is my work—I’m very protective of these characters and the story and I think we have a right to be—I wasn’t angry. I just wanted to understand why and what was the message we were ultimately sending with this script and story. By the end of it, I felt good and it gave me all the confidence I needed. It was better than I could have ever hoped.”
But then there's Jensen in 2015 talking about all of Dean’s bromances. (x)  [gifs at the top] Could go either way - starting to figure it out? or No?
What had changed if anything? the entire Crowely season 10 story line?  This was July 2015 - the same day as the SDCC 2015 panel where Misha talked about Destiel   (x @ 13) Carver and Dabb were there -
By this time Jensen and Misha were nominated for a teen choice award for best chemistry against various tv couples (and one ensemble cast, but the award nomination did NOT include Jared) .... Misha and Jensen would go on to WIN this award one month after the panel.
At the Panel Rob and Rich ask the question: “You two have branded yourselves as TV’s greatest team since, ... idk who.... Ernie and Bert so.”  [Misha says to Jensen & Jared, half not on the microphone: “I really didn’t expect them to throw us under the bus.”] “are we going to see that continue? Is the Castiel Dean relationship still aflutter and still growing as we move into season 11?”  Jeremy Carver: “Ish.” [mocking from panel ensues] “Yes. Of course. I mean Yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. There’s no doubt.”
Jensen Directs 11x03 and the choreo mimics Goodbye stranger (x)
2016 - Jensen: Dean could have a huntress, but you’d kill her.
Jan 2017 Con the infamous - no hedge - harsh - “Destiel doesn’t exist.” (x)
I would hope that if he knew he wouldn’t have been so harsh with it.  So by that point either he still didn’t know - OR - to him ‘Destiel’ was specifically about internet porn/sex and not like - the potential for feelings / a relationship.  It makes me think about something Misha had actually said, around 2013, “It’s called ‘Destiel’ and it’s about the romantic interludes between Dean and Castiel.” (x)
2017 - jib8 Jensen called Dean a lover of the ladies
May 2017 - After filming the end of season 12:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2018 - Misha confirms he and Jensen have talked about Destiel (x) - also 2018: The Bisexual Dean essay "? No." (Oh god was this really this recent?! I can't deal with this.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well. SOMETHING happened in 2019. cuz here it comes
Tumblr media
2019 - "Dean has no taste, clearly." 2019 - 'So, tell us just a little bit about what you're most excited to tackle with your character this final season.' "Cas. Just like a full football form tackle."
Look at this face he gave Dean when Cas told him he loved him and tell me he wasn't playing into it here. You can't. (x)

Hi, if Beth does come back into the show in season 11 (which there are more clues then ever before pointing towards that), what is your best guess for when/what episode she shows up in? Do you think it will be in 11b, or do you think it’s more likely that she’ll come in 11c? Love your page!
I honestly can't give you any particular answer here with any certainty. I want to say I'm leaning toward 11b for various reasons. The promotion, especially outside the show, has been particularly heavy lately, and they DID have Emily on TTD during 11a. (I've noticed a pattern to the symbolism over the years where they often foreshadow something in a big way one season before. Not sure if that would apply to her appearance on TTD, but if it does....)
But I also think they can do heavy promo up to a year before something happens on the show. For example, we saw a teaser video on social media where MMB and Khary Payton pretended to be a couple having a baby together. Most of us had already read the symbolism and knew they'd be a couple, but they hadn't gone canon in the show yet. If I remember correctly, that video was posted right after S7, and they didn't go canon until the end of S8. So, you get the idea.
And I'm not saying we won't see her. Because of that lion thing she posted with the year corrected from 2020 to 2022 (X), I think we'll see her for sure before the end of the calendar year. But again, that could be 11b OR 11c. So, really hard to say.
Sorry. Wish I had a better answer for you. Overall, I don't know, and I'm super excited for 11b to begin. I'm confident we'll see her either in 11b or 11c, but I'd rather not throw out a more specific guess than that and get people's hopes up. As I always say, we'll just have to wait and see. Xoxo! ❄️💗

I always find it weird that d&d sprinkle the jonsa clues in last 3 seasons only to left it out. Jonsa had equal weightage with dark Dany to the narrative and I don't believe that they didn't make it happen to appease people. Jonsa also answer the stark succession. Even critics didn't have problems with this. If books and show ending are same then how jonsa will happen? Did we misinterpreted the clues in books? Why would D&d left the Jonsa? Its not like fans going to stop watching if it happens.
It is weird! Just so you know, the majority of the Jonsas I follow don’t accept the show ending, and tend to believe that D&D cut Jonsa in favor of Jxnerys so that they could hide Dark Dany + offer fan service as everyone was expecting The Hero™ and The Heroine™ to get together. I think that’s possible. Their dialogue in the cave was lifted from someone else’s chapters (link) which isn’t conclusive that D&D made it up, but it does fit their pattern of taking what belongs to one character and placing it over another, as if that doesn’t have big ramifications (they did this by giving Sansa Jeyne’s plot). I even pointed out (jokingly) that it was Sam and Gilly who had sex on a boat, so really, boatbang was stolen from them, and it’s Aemon who believes Dany is their only hope in the books so maybe that was where they got s7-8 Jon (link).
I don’t think they left Jonsa out for fear people would stop watching if it became explicit, but the Jxnerys romance was used to hide Dark Dany, and that was something they were dedicated to. They wanted Dany burning KL to be a shocking moment, damn everything else, and that was a big problem with s7-8. A lot of critics and fans say that the show needed another season, but unless D&D were willing for people to realize what Dany was, that wouldn’t have helped. I’m sure the self-contradictory mess we got was a result of trying to write to deceive the audience and also give hints of the “real” story. Right after s8 I mentioned The Six Sense as a movie that told two different stories really well in that, we watch with one understanding, experience a revelation at the end, and can rewatch it with that new understanding and it makes total sense. I’m guessing that’s what they were aiming for, and something happened that altered those plans so we didn’t get the revelation.
IMO, the way the writing was in s7, D&D were planning to totally condemn Dany as the monster she was (that’s what the field of fire 2.0 and burning of the Tarlys was prep for), but there was a tonal shift in s8, and they used Tyrion and Jon to defend her in the finale even when she had just committed a far worse act (burning KL). Honestly, I don’t think D&D liked Dany, I don’t think they liked the fans enough to do something just to be nice, I assume there was pressure from HBO to not destroy all interest in Targs because of their hopes for other shows, and they softened her ending as a result. All speculation, of course.
I agree that Jonsa was prepared in the same way Dark Dany was, and I agree that it is as essential to the end of the story, so it puzzles me that it didn’t happen, anon. Or rather, that they continued to hint at it while not confirming it. We have all absolutely misinterpreted the “clues” because literature is art. It isn’t a neat tidy thing and literary analysis very easily becomes more about who we are than what the author is saying, so I’m sure we’ve picked up on lines and made too much of them or missed important bits because of what we’re drawn to or don’t like, but I am certain Sansa is getting a romance, and Jon is basically the only candidate for marriage as @istumpysk had pointed out (link). I am also pretty sure Jon’s kids will be Cat’s grandkids to answer that particular fear of hers, so to me, the question isn’t will Jonsa happen, only how.
As in, just how much did D&D screw Jon and Sansa over? Did they take a secret marriage away from them? Did they take a wedding demanded by the North from them? @you-are-2-me says both (link). Did they take a silent, but mutually known, love from them? A calm domestic life? A Queen Sansa and her affair with the Lord Commander or Captain of her Queensguard? I’ve read it all, I’ve thought it all, and I haven’t made up my mind.
D&D changed a lot in earlier seasons even when they had the books to work with, and Martin still said GoT was a faithful adaptation, so it’s very possible that any of those scenarios happens in the books and D&D just didn’t care. But, if Martin is to be believed that the endings are the same (and not just same-ish), I’m guessing there will be a Jonsa secret marriage and a child, and Jon will agree to exile or the Wall to achieve peace (I know it’s dumb).

It looks like one of my answers doesn’t show up in the tags so I’ll copy it here, just in case. It might be interesting for the asoiaf fans, Jaqen’s and Arya’s fans in particular;)
So, the question I received was:
Where is the coherent foreshadowing for Jaqen and Arya? It all seems taken out of fucking nowhere
And here we go:
It starts in the very first book when Arya names her direwolf after the queen who married a Dornishman, and it never stops because Arya and Jaqen are repeating Lyanna’s and Rhaegar’s story. Of course, in ASOIAF, the story is never exactly the same. Which by the way gives me hope that at least they will have their happy ending. Or the closest thing to a happy ending, which in George Martin’s world means less heartbreaking than the others’s endings;d
Tumblr media
Trouble with Jaqarya foreshadowing is that George Martin started writing the story with a five year gap in mind between Arya’s arrival in Braavos and A Dance with Dragons. So, when he first envisioned the story he already had a 15 year old Arya in mind. It means that Arya and Jaqen would have reunited in A Dance with Dragons already and she would have been old enough for a romance. It also means that Jaqen’s identity would have been revealed in A Dance with Dragons.
But, since GRRM abandoned the idea, we have to wait for the reveal till The Winds of Winter. As a consequence the whole build-up is made of hints, symbols, clues, metaphors, parallels to R/L and so on. Nothing is said explicitly because it would ruin the big reveal of who Jaqen is and what’s ahead of them.
So, from the top:
1. Arya names her direwolf after Nymeria, a queen who found home far from her own country and who married a Dornishman. Jaqen is half Dornish, he is Elia’s and Rhaegar’s son, Aegon VI. I already pinned the answer about his true identity to my profile so please read it if you need further explanation.
Thanks to the Game of Thrones finale we know that Arya will sail across the sunset sea. I searched through the books after s8 and of course I found information that they both, J&A, will leave. I guess I need to thank D&D for Arya’s ending, otherwise I would have overlooked the clues completely.
So, either they will find home far away, somewhere in the sea, or in Braavos or in Dorne or they will return to Jaqen’s castle ( the Red Keep or Dragonstone ). Wherever they will stay, it’s going to be far from Arya’s birth place, Winterfell.
2. Nymeria has golden eyes, Arya thinks that they shine like golden coins - it’s another connection to Jaqen ( Aegon ) who switches his iron coin for a golden dragon in A Feast for Crows. The coin is poisoned and kills Pate but it’s also a symbol of courtship. Pate needed it to claim his beloved Rosey.
3. On the way to King’s Landing, Arya is picking up flowers in the Neck, perhaps in the same area where the flowers for Lyanna’s crown had been picked. Ned is deeply moved when he sees Arya with the flowers because she reminds him of Lya. The flowers are purple - purple is the symbol of royal birth, of the rightful heir to the throne whom Jaqen ( Aegon ) is. They are called poisoned kisses and burn Arya’s hands - Jaqen is using poisons and represents fire. He is a Targ, a future dragon rider. Arya will also burn her hands and lips in the House of Black and White while learning to make poisons.”Poisoned kisses” is a bad name, it implies doomed love which reminds us of R/L. For Arya it means a love for the murderer. Hopefully with a happier ending than Lya’s love.
4. Ned tells Arya that she will marry a king and rule his castle and they will have sons. Like I said before, Jaqen is the rightful king. In A Clash of Kings, Arya even reveals his identity though it is very cleverly concealed in the scene when she gives him his own name. To be brief: it's a play on words; he asks her if the name of the king she wants dead is Joffrey and she answers the name ( of the king ) is Jaqen H’ghar. So Joffrey is not the king, he’s impostor, the true king is Jaqen.
5. In King’s Landing, Arya has dreams of Rhaenys though she doesn’t realize it. She also catches Rhaenys’s cat, her “little dragon”, and kisses its forehead. In Harrenhal, Jaqen kisses her forehead as if to return the kiss;)
6. Arya ruins Sansa’s silk dress and offers to make her a new one. Sansa tells her she could make a dress good enough only to clean the pigsty.
That pigsty is kind of a big deal.
In fairytales, princes disguise themselves as swineherds to hide their true identity, like in H.C Andersen’s story “The Swineherd”.
George Martin used this motif in his books too. In AFFC Jaqen wears the face of Pate “the Pig Boy”. Arya, on the other hand, lives in Braavos in his house, makes dresses and sweeps the floors. She lives in the Pig Boy’s house, in the pigsty, and cleans it -  just like Sansa has said. Only the pigsty is the prince’s house like Ned has foretold.
7. In Harrenhal, Jaqen wakes Arya from her wolf dream and kisses her. This motif comes from the Sleeping Beauty fairytale - only the prince can awake the sleeping beauty.
8. Also in Harrenhal, Jaqen and Arya make their “weasel soup”. They pour hot broth on the guards to free the Northmen. Jaqen gives Arya a pair of padded gloves and he is wearing the identical gloves himself, while they struggle the pot of soup between them - it’s a metaphor for sharing power. Gloves are symbol of power and noble birth.
The cooking pot is another motif borrowed from “The Swineherd” - the prince has a magic pot that plays a song. Jaqen ( Aegon ) has a song too, a song of Ice and Fire.
9. Jaqen gives Arya his coin ( we already know it’s a symbol of courtship ) and she pays with it for a passage across the narrow sea. She crosses the sea to get to the House of Black and White, the house of darkness.
In Greek mythology, the souls of dead people pay with a coin to cross the river and get to the Underworld. Arya, like Persephone, is first shown while picking up flowers and then she descends into the Underworld seduced by GRRM’s version of Hades. Hades has a three-headed dog, Jaqen has a prophecy ( and the coin ) of a three-headed dragon.
10. When Arya meets the Ghost of High Heart, the witch compares her to Jenny, a girl with flowers in her hair who fell in love with a Targaryen prince.
11. In ASOS, Arya listens to Tom Sevenstrings playing My Featherbed song. The song was written by Rhaegar for Lyanna. It tells the story of Jenny and Duncan Targaryen but Rhaegar concealed his own feelings for Lya in the text. The lyrics refer to Arya and Jaqen as well - they repeat J/D and R/L story of a Targaryen prince and a girl from the North.
Of course Rhaegar didn’t know about his son and Lya’s niece when he wrote the song:))
The song is not about Gendrya, like people think. I already mentioned it in one of my answers. It’s very important because it helps to understand what had happened in Harrenhal and what will happen to Arya and Jaqen.
Arya hears My Featherbed after Gendry invited her to the smithy. He knocked her over and they wrestled. Her dress was torn and she looked as if someone had tried to hurt her. Right after Tom plays Rhaegar’s song. Gendry obviously didn’t want to hurt Arya but that scene explains what Robert did in Harrenhal after Rhaegar left - he was furious that Rhaegar crowned Lya so he demanded “his rights”. That’s why Lyanna ran off. Rhaegar was her rescue.
12. In the House of Black and White Arya sleeps under the red blanket which reminds her of her favorite blanket from Winterfell. I’m sure it’s Jaqen’s blanket, and perhaps his bed too, because red is his color: red hair, red poison, red war, red god, red comet over Harrenhal, red dragon (?)  - red accompanies him throughout his journey. Of course black is his color too, it’s the color of the Stranger. Red and black are the colors of House...
Tumblr media
13. In Arya’s Braavosi chapters GRRM concealed the story of the beginning of Rhaegar’s and Lyanna’s love in Harrenhal. But that’s a massive story to tell so I will write a separate post about it.
14. Finally, in Mercy chapter Arya hears the story of the first Black Pearl of Braavos, the pirate queen, and her affair with King Aegon IV. She sighs wistfully and says that she would love to see a dragon too. Dragon here means more than an animal, GRRM once again hints at her future romance with the Dragon.
15. “Mercy” chapter parallels the prologue to A Feast for Crows. Originally it was meant to be in AFFC but GRRM eventually moved it to TWOW.
Perhaps GRRM wanted Jaqen’s chapter to start AFFC and Arya’s chapter to end the book. The prologue is a chapter with two main motifs: dragons and love. “Mercy” is a chapter of revenge and love for a dragon. The prologue starts at night when Pate’s beloved is sleeping naked in her room. “Mercy” starts at dawn when Arya wakes up naked in her room and sees a dragon boat passing beneath her window.
But those two chapters are so rich in parallels that they deserve a separate post as well:)
16. While Jaqen and Arya are having their adventures in Oldtown and Braavos respectively, in the North Mance is infiltrating Winterfell. Mance is posing as a bard. He sings a song of a Dornishman’s wife in turn with the Northman’s daughter. It’s another delightful hint that the Northman’s daughter, Ned’s daughter is ( well, will be ) the Dornishman’s wife.
As you can see it’s a pretty massive foreshadowing. I probably still omitted something because there are really tons of those clues.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the read.
Thanks for the ask :)

in that post about directors in the chibnall era i made a few days ago I kind of insinuated that I wanted to go on a separate rant about the cameras and the budget, or more accurately the show’s new production ethos (exemplified by the cameras) and the budget. So I guess I’m doing that now.
Honestly in retrospect I think the news that they had acquired better, more cinema-ready cameras for S11 should have probably been my first clue that something was wrong. It’s a small decision, but it’s very exemplary of exactly the ethos Chibnall and Co. seem to be going into their era with.
Doctor Who has always been kind of the odd one out in sci-fi for a number of reasons but not the least of which because it’s always noticeably been of a lower production value. Back in the day that used to turn a lot of people who were more accustomed to the American sci-fi standards of early Star Trek off. People looked at Doctor Who and thought it was kind of a visual joke. The wobbly sets (which tbf I literally never notice), the bubble-wrap monsters. And sure, it is true that classic who was really, abundantly clearly being made on some pretty sparse resources, but in it’s best and most prestigious eras, it didn’t try to escape that, it used it to its advantage.
I’m thinking of the Fourth Doctor’s first few seasons. That era of the show borders on being surreal horror sometimes, and it’s not really all that better looking than the seasons before or after it. The reason it’s so effective, though, is because instead of shooting for something they couldn’t do, the teams used their creativity to craft an atmosphere and a visual aesthetic around what they had.
It was no different in the NuWho eras predating 2018. Sure, they were technologically ambitious sometimes, they made leaps forward. They made the leap to HD in 2009, for instance. But they rarely pushed themselves beyond what was conceivable for the show. Because they knew that if they did that, some kind of sacrifice would have to be made...
And so we arrive back where we started at Chibnall and his era’s new cameras. I recall an interview from back in the glory days of actual hope (the year and change between the announcement of Jodie Whittaker and her first actual episode), where Chibnall made it clear that he wanted the show to “catch up” to its contemporaries. He would look at all these great shows on HBO and Netflix and then he’d look at Doctor Who and think, “we’re a bit behind the curve aren’t we”. This also should’ve been a warning sign.
Because here’s the thing. Yes, the show technically looks better than it did a few years ago. And yet, it looks the worst that it’s looked since the 80s. How did that happen?
It happened because they made one or two massive leaps forward well before they were ready. Chibnall and co desperately want the show to look modern and up to date. They want you to be able to hold it up to the new Star Trek, or Westworld or anything and they want you to respect it. They acted out embarrassment. Needless, almost cynically inspired embarrassment. Because what else, really, improved along with the cameras and the tech? Not a lot. The budget is still clearly well below what Netflix or HBO gives their creators, and when you mix that with the new tech they do have, AND the horrible directing I’ve talked about already... the result is a show that ACTUALLY looks embarrassing. I mean, sure, it has its moments of visual beauty. But everyone gets lucky sometimes.
But the hard truth is that usually they don’t get lucky, and we get horrors like The Tsuranga Conundrum. Empty, white walled rooms with so little production value they literally couldn’t even make windows or a basic flight deck. Some really poor lighting, to add onto that. But that’s not the worst bit about episodes like that. The worst bit is that a few years ago, in S8, 9, or 10, that would’ve been fine. Maybe not ideal, but certainly workable, because they would’ve had to make it work, whether they liked it or not. The show has always functioned within the parameters of what it is visually capable of, until 2018. It was never like a corporately devised spectacle.
I mean, you really want to have my point proved, watch Heaven Sent/Hell Bent over again. Those episodes look amazing, despite the fact that if you actually look around at the sets or locations they’re in, it’s all very sparse or shoddy. Because they said to themselves: this is what we have to work with, so we’re going to be creative and make it work. More than that, we’re going to make it look magical and unique and wonderful, like Doctor Who has always done.
Aside from the fact that the show is desperately trying to hide its own budget shortcomings these days, I also have a feeling they’re not actually handling their budget well in the first place. The disparity in scale between season openers/finales and the in-between episodes (you know, the bulk of the season) seems larger than it has in the past, like they’re trying too hard to impress us with stuff like Spyfall only to immediately throw us into garbage like The Ghost Monument or Orphan 55. I mean, previous teams have definitely made the same error before on a smaller scale (season 6 jumps out to me), but never to the extent that it’s being made nowadays.
I don’t know dude, the levels of incompetency piled on top of incompetency in this era are bizarre. I’m convinced some weird shit is happening behind the scenes that we’ll find out about in like a decade or something, because it seems like every decision on absolutely every level is wrong.

2020 in writing
tagged by the wonderful @feeisamarshmallow and @b99peraltiago! thank you, this took me seriously three hours but it was fun.
tagging whoever has three hours to spare!! but i’d love to see @amydancepants-peralta, @letsperaltiago, @johnny-and-dora, and @fezzle do this, although no pressure because this took me the entire evening.
1. List of works published this year
oh god this is going to take forever...
i’ll walk through hell with you, chapter 5, 6 & 7
all the kingdom lights shined just for me and you
a single kiss and i’m under your spell
paper cut stings from our paper-thin plans
dust off your highest hopes
i can’t see the future, but i know that it’s there
look now, the sky is gold
look at where we are, look at where we started
bracing for the winds i always summon
just know that i’m already home
there’s magic everywhere you go
we’ve found a love to cross the ages
all my days, i’ll know your face
hell was the journey but it brought me heaven
(three times ‘cause) i’ve waited my whole life
if devotion is a river, then i’m floating away
when all your heroes get tired (i’ll be something better yet)
evermore
i am not a stranger to the dark
in the cracks of light, i dreamed of you
rare as the glimmer of a comet in the sky
21 works!!
2. Work you are most proud of (and why)
I am really really proud of finishing i’ll walk through hell with you, that’s still one of the highlights in my writing “career”. bracing for the winds i always summon and (three times ‘cause) i’ve waited my whole life, because they were both longer works with a lot of introspection that focused a lot on jake and amy’s feelings about upcoming parenthood. especially the last one I still love dearly. i’m also really proud of the fics i wrote all from rosa’s perspective (paper cut stings from our paper-thin plans and when all your heroes get tired (i’ll be something better yet)).
3. Work you are least proud of (and why)
none! I guess a few of them are shorter and written way quicker than some others, but I always take that into consideration when “evaluating” how proud I am of them so no. personally, I’m proud of everything in different ways.
4. A favourite except of your writing
referring to the creator tag meme for this where I posted excerpts from the five works I’m most proud of!
5. Share or describe a favourite review you received
questions like these remind me that I need to start saving my favorite reviews somewhere! that’s a goal for 2021, haha. but every comment that have listed their favorite moments in the fic I reread like five times over and smile every time, and all the comments people left me on the last chapter of i’ll walk through hell with you were so wonderful. and the rosa fic. and the -
you know what, I just started reading through old comments and I can’t pick one, it feels too unfair to all the other incredible ones I ’ve gotten. so. all of them!!!! I love you guys!!
I will mention this one that someone sent me in the middle of summer, during a period when I wasn’t writing or publishing so it ended up meaning that much more for that reason as well. comment on look at where we are, look at where we started (in the brief period of time when we thought peraltiago baby would be named Leo)
“Idk why, but the way Jake was talking to Leo made me wonder if my parents ever talked to me like that right after I was born. I've been told the story of my birth every birthday since I was born, so I know it by heart, but despite the countless Peraltiago baby fics and other fandom baby fics I've read, this is the one that made me wonder what my parents were thinking when I was born. And then it made me wonder what I'm gonna think when I give birth to a kid, or if I adopt a kid.” like, I was just so floored that something I wrote made someone reflect so deeply on their own life. and I want to underline that I have so so many favourite reviews but yes, this one stuck with me!
6. A time when writing was really, really hard
this summer was the hardest it’s ever been. first the (rightful) hesitance and reflection that followed the BLM protests and then some trauma and deep depression added onto that for me was… yeah. it took a really long time to find real joy in it again.
7. A scene of characters you wrote that surprised you
Jake and Rosa’s friendship in i am not a stranger to the dark! I’ve written a bit of Rosa and Amy and feel quite comfortable with their friendship and dynamic but far less of Jake and Rosa!
“At least this is still way better than... that.” “Literally everything is better than prison.” “True that.” Rosa looks up at the tv, realizing she’s missed at least ten minutes of the movie already. “I’m glad we got out.” “Sometimes it still feels like a part of me didn't,” Jake says, quietly. “You ever feel that way?” “Sometimes,” she admits. “We did, though. That's what's important.”
Rosa can hear someone talking in the background on the other end, and Jake mumbling something back in reply. “I have to go,” he tells her, and it makes her a little sad, because he's good company. “I can't miss dinner. Wouldn't want to piss off the entirety of my fiancées family before I’ve even married her, right?”
8. How did you grow as a writer this year?
I wrote more Rosa! that’s probably the single thing which helped me grow most, because she’s arguably a much harder character to write than Jake and Amy, since most of the time you really have no clue what she’s thinking. I have to think a lot harder about how Rosa thinks and feels and reacts to things and I feel like that makes me a better writer overall.
9. How do you hope to grow next year?
I don’t have any big expectations tbh. I know next year is going to take so much of my energy “”professionally”” or well, study-wise, so I think it’s the wrong year to set ambitious creative writing goals for me. then there’s also the inevitable fact that I’ve written a whopping ninety-nine stories for this show now and I’m always asking myself for how long it will last. there was a point in april-may where I thought it was going to be the end and during the entire summer as well. so… we’ll see. I don’t have any WIP I’m aching to finish right now.
10. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta of cheerleader or muse etc. etc.)?
@fezzle, @johnny-and-dora, @vernonfielding, @amydancepants-peralta, @feeisamarshmallow, @amazingsantiago and @letsperaltiago all deserve their own shoutouts here for various reasons!! (if you want to know more about why just message me!)
11. Anything from real life show up in your writing this year?
always, in different ways in how I relate to the characters and different feelings and moments and experiences that would take way too long to explain. but if I could choose one fic it would be paper cut stings from our paper-thin plans. I worked through a lot of feelings about a breakup I went through in this one and they were ones I hadn’t really had the chance to let myself feel before writing this. It isn’t similar to how my breakup went, at least I didn’t mean for it to be and haven’t put any intentional similarities in there (although I guess there are a few if you look for them) but some of the things Rosa thinks, says and feels after being broken up with were quite personal. i am not a stranger to the dark and the way it focuses on healing after trauma was also partly personal although way much less obviously so because the experiences are quite different lol.
12. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers?
make writer friends! talk to other writers! you’ll both learn so much and it makes writing and developing fics so much more fun!
13. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year
I currently have zero WIP and zero real plans so genuinely who knows. all depends on what my life will look like and what s8 will bring us!
14. If you could recommend only one work from yourself published this year
all the favourite five, but maybe when all your heroes get tired (i’ll be something better yet). I think it’s a great complement to the Rosa and Amy action we saw in season 7 and it has a lot of peraltiago from someone else’s viewpoint as well.
15. Year word count
are you kidding meeeee okay here we go.
okay, so adding everything I’ve published this year together… 111 283 words.
😳 😳 😳
DEAR GOD.
additional trivia: the shortest fic was 651 words (evermore), the longest if you exclude the three chapters of i’ll walk through hell with you (they are 24.6k together though) (three times ‘cause) i’ve waited my whole life, and the average word count for a fic of mine this year was 5 299 or 4 838 words, depending on whether you count the chapters of i’ll walk through hell with you as one or three works. that makes sense because i feel like i’ve written a loot of fics around that length this year!

Yeah totally agree with you on Cisco like if they were gonna do that then they could've just waited for the finale to send him off....which would've been better scenes to put in at the end other than the wedding vow scene tbh .-. would've been more emotionally impactful as well.....I know Jay <3 it would've been nice to see more set up for him and Impulse's relationship since apparently he's really important to Impulse but we don't know quite how exactly.....
Remember Flashpoint kind of reset all that with reverse flash (thanks Barry) and Crisis so if my memory serves me right he was just stuck in the Speed Force (or it's prison) and I think that's how he's back but I'm not sure...but omg if he's the big bad for S8 YESSSS what a way to end it right where it began to come full circle...
Yeah tbh I ironically predicted that about Kramer and I was pissed I was right (she's basically Rogue from X-Men aiodjk) .....omg no Allegra and Chester seemed kind of natrual at first at least to me but then these last couple of episode (ever since Esperanza?? came to Star Labs) it for sure seems rushed and forced which ugghhhh .-.
Yeah the whole Iris not being stabilized (how and why was she not to begin with I still have no clue) and then Dion magically being able to stabilize her was so stupid and pointless to me idk why they shoved that useless plot point in there.....Totally agree with the singing though MAKE THEM STOOOPPP!!!!!!!!
oof....this was a big rant I'm sorry lol
hey shay!! 🥰
don't worry me loves big rants >:)
thank you!! i'm alright, don't worry :) but i really appreciate the offer thank you <3 and yes i do still wanna see your painted room!! 👀
love you the mostest 🥰🥰
i'm very glad that you agree with me on the Cisco thing 🥺i was all over the place >< but yes i also agree about Jay and Bart/Impulse! i'm guessing Jay is like a father figure to Bart...which makes no sense unless Barry was dead or something... or they just be very close as uncle and nephew...although not really... this show is very confusing
but point is they always do Jay dirty and i hate that </3
ahh yes Flashpoint! okay yes then that makes a lot of sense now. i'm sorry sometimes i think of the Reverse Flash on LoT and i forget all about the timeline again 😔 time travel is fun but soooooo tiring to remember everything... but if he really is the big bad for S8 i'm going to scream with happiness!!!
Kramer's story is so :// we saw it coming...we really did 😔 honestly they spent a lot of time on her storyline so i hope she joins the team and helps out because if she's just gonna be a side story for Joe i'm gonna be pissed
Allegra and Chester... i have no more words </3 why does it seem like none of the romantic relationships in this show work?? besides Joe and Cecile and maaaaaybe Cisco's relationships (past and present), i don't have much faith in any other romances :(
speaking of... what happened to Chillblaine? can't believe they ended off the season with no closure about him >:(
i have literally forgotten all about the Forces already... seems like they're bringing Deon back to remind us of said Forces but yeah they better explain the plot with Iris not being stabilized!!
ALSO??? IRIS STILL BEING ABLE TO RUN?? CUZ SHE HAD A "SPARK" IN HER?? yo that was like 3 seasons ago like...huh?? and her jacket? that she gave to Nora...? but somehow she still has it...?
absolutely no continuation whatsoever idk what the writers are on anymore 😔
this was also a big rant i'm sorry

My 15x17 Opinion
Unity
Wow! This one was a rollar coaster ride! I’ve seen positive and negative responses from y’all but I’ll say, though it had its flaws, I thought it was basically what I watch the show for. Tension drama, emotion, twists and turns and all that good stuff!
We start off that Sam is still angry with Dean and giving him the silent treatment. A typical Winchester argument occurs but comes to a painful halt when Sam says, concerning Jack “We dont give up on family!!” and Dean returns fire with “Jack’s not family!!” OMG I could HEAR Sam’s heart shatter! Dean isn’t wrong in his follow up though, they both care for Jack a lot (Sam evidenty moreso) but he’s not family at their level, or even Cas’s level for that matter. This isn’t anything we shouldn’t aready know. Michael!Dean even pointed this out in s14.
I don’t think this means Dean doesn’t love or care about Jack at all. In fact Im sure he does even if he still holds a grudge, but he’s not on Sam level, no one is... nor is he on Mom, Dad, Bobby or Cas level, but maybe Rowena level? Id say somewhere between Rowena level and Kevin level.
Sam loves Jack and apparently thinks of him as his son, though he never says it. He has said “He’s our kid!” but never said Jack is like a son to him. Im not going to go too meta on this, but  I kinda think Dean’s line of thought is “Well Sam and I both have died to save the world, why can’t Jack?” and Sam is thinking “Enough of this damn dying to save the freakin world!” but thats my opinion :)
Of course Jack overhears which also hurt and he asks Sam if hes mad at him. Sam weighs his words so well to make sure Jack knows Sam understands and appreciates the mission, but he thinks its wrong.
I have mixed opinions of the Amara and Chuck portions. I think Amara was great! I really like her, but I was distracted by an OTT Chuck that I really didnt like. Not just on a bad guy level but the childishness was much more like a bad impression of Lucifer than any Chuck we’ve seen. Im still hoping beyond hope that Chuck gets redeemed some way though I think its not very likely. But it aint over till its over and SPN has surprized me a million times before.
Adam and Serafina were annoying. I thought it also very weird that Dean thought the woman must be Eve when he killed Eve in S6. Guess they forgot s6, but thats ok, I try to forget it too!
So Jack becoming a bomb is the only way to defeat Chuck. Im gad to hear Sam call Dean out on his “Its the only way” attitude. I flash back so Sacrifice in s8 when Sam was going to martyr himsef ... again... and when Dean found out Sam would die, all of a sudden, this isnt the only way!! “We have enough information to turn the tides here... think about what we know....” to show Sam that they do have options, and yet, when it doesnt have to do with Sam’s life, Dean becomes somewhat of a defeatist. (its ok Dean... I know theres a “Samception” to every rule 😉🤜🤛)
Meanwhile Sam and Cas figure out how to get to Billies Library. Im kinda sad they keep using Meg as The Empty, Im so down for Megstiel, I wish theyd go that route instead.  Anyway, she confirms that Billie needs him so maybe if she starts kiling him, Billie will come. Sam lies his way out of that and tricks her into giving him God’s book. Now we have that and Im curious as to why Billie and/or Chuck need Sam. I still think for Sam to die, Dean needs to kill him and this is why Chuck manipulated Dean to pull a gun on him, which goes well with OG Death needing Dean to kill Sam, or “Ill do it for you” and OGs Death’s eagerness to reap him. This is intriguing, and I cant even meta on it, because I have no clue LOL
So we have this crazy physical fight between Sam and Dean which leads us to Sam’s touching speech. “What about me? Would you trade me?” The line that of course, stops Dean in his tracks. I THINK that if Billie resets everything that Sam stays dead from s2? Or maybe just since she has been Death and Sam would stay dead when he got vamped in the AU? Im not sure, but Sam didnt seem to mean that Dad would have stayed dead from before Mom made her demon deal, or that would just mean neither would exist.
Sam tells Dean that he’s always protected him, from Dad, from Lucifer etc... and I see a lot of controversey on Tumblr about this statement as an attack on John. I don’t really think so, though no matter how much of a John fan you are, the show never paints him as an ideal father. Its not “these new writers” its every writer since the Pilot. Since season 1 John has been depicted as an obsessed man who raised them to be hunters, left them alone as children for days/weeks at a time and had anger and drinking issues, all while showing that he loves his boys, wants them to be safe and ultimately only wanted what was best. I dont see the show ever depicting him as physically abusive, so its not hard to imagine that Dean would have stepped into a verbal argument between Sam and Dad to distract Dad before it got messy like we saw him do a couple times in S1.
So Sam goes on saying he didnt always like “it” either being protected or the form of protection used, but regardless, its the only thing he could rely on, and the ony thing he knew was true. And in this moment while Dean still wants to kill Chuck, Dean probably believes its whats best for Sam too, to get off the wheel so to speak, but if Billie wins, would he no longer have Sam?? YIKES!! Winchester tears all round! And ya know, I actually like that Sam just said “put down the gun” instead of like “believe in us too” something about it made it feel more critical. Like Dean had lost his shit and Sam knew it. Dean could cry and hug him and tell him he loves him more than life, but Sam is still in danger of Chuck manipulating Dean into killing him, untill Dean puts down the gun.
Meanwhile Chuck talks Amara into becoming part of him again, to be one. This also gave me feels. But now here comes a super pissed off, super charged Chuck who has had it with these boys. “After everything, you still do this!!” and now they get to watch Jack die.... maybe.. to be continued.
So yeah I reallly liked this episode despite the annoying issues. Definitey on my “watch again” list!
So on a scale from Bloodlines to Lebabon I give Unity a 8.5. Thanks guys I needed that!

hello!! happy nihime! in my kin religion(xeditism) nihime is the day of rest and appreciating the outside from inside! also, i’ve decided to get into hermitcraft! i’ve never watched a single bit of it before but i really want to get into it bc it seems so cool! so, and i know this is a ridiculous and stupid thing to ask, how would i start watching? like how could i get to know most of the storyline and lore and just generally get up to date on everything and just start watching? sorry to be a nuisance sbskxbdb i know it’s such a stupid request but yeah! and have a lovely day :))) -🌧(?)
Tumblr media
AH SORRY for not getting back to you soon !!! happy nihime, hope you have a great day :D
but YEAH hermitcraft resets every season, and you don't need any of the previous knowledge to get into it :] also it's completely not a stupid question at all !!! i got into hc pretty recently too and i get it can be confusing if you have no clue how it even works !! i love answering questions too hehe
the lore isn't suuper complex or in depth either, like it's more casual than dsmp, so it's easier to get into !! you can just start at the beginning of anyone's s8 playlist, pretty sure everyone has like 2 episodes max, so this is the perfect time to get into it!
if you want advice on who to watch, i don't watch a ton of people so i might not be the best person to ask, but i like grian, scar, bdubs, keralis, etho, and rendog! it's probably best to stick to 1 or 2 povs (i'm mostly just watching grian and checking out others if i have time) plus there's also a hermitcraft recaps channel that says what everyone is up to so you don't have to watch everyone, i'm pretty sure ? lmk if you have any other questions, and fellow hermitcraft watchers feel free to jump in with your own info bc i am honestly pretty new to it too !!

When Calls The Heart Live Rambles
S8 ep8 Parades and Charades (or something like that)
My gosh this episode is perhaps the best one we've had all season, and by that I just mean that Elizabeth actually had screen time, and she had actual lines, and she was part of plot that is relevant to h e r. Finally, the main character actually felt like the main character. HOWEVER, she is not very likeable in this episode, I must say (she hasn't been likeable for a while but you know)
The start of the episode when Elizabeth comes off her horse and she tries to talk to Nathan. I'm so glad that Nathan is firm even when Elizabeth doesnt like it. And he's not mean about it, he just tries to be honest while protecting himself and Allie from getting hurt even more. I honestly just love it when Elizabeth and Nathan have disagreements in general because when they do have arguments, it's usually because someone's feelings are showing and then it resolves in having made good progress in deepening their relationship. Elizabeth was totally out of line during that conversation btw. 'Now you're just being hurtful', um says the woman who rejected this man's love proposal and is now hurt that his niece didn't want to invite her to her very important and personal adoption ceremony...wow Elizabeth you really be asking for a lot. And then she's upset that he has to ride off to take care of mountie business. Yes, Elizabeth, this man has a job to do and your conversation will have to wait, sorry girlfriend.
When Nathan told Lucas to 'Save it' haha! Though I enjoyed it, I hope they don't write Lucas and Nathan to turn into enemies bc they are both pining for Elizabeth. It seems like it's headed in that direction based off of their dialogue throughout this episode. I guess it's understandable since Nathan has already been rejected and isn't backing down while Lucas and Elizabeth are a more official item. Okay, yeah, I understand it, but I don't want it to go too far *thinks back to the Lucas and Elizabeth in the rain scene* I guess I can't hope for that with this show. And later on when Lucas was talking to Nathan about how he should be thinking more of Allie and not getting her hurt. Ooooh I wanted to slap that fool. Who is he to be talking about Allie, he doesnt know anything about their relationship and he had no right to bring her up. Ugh that made me so angry.
Lucas's office. May I just say. Daaang. That's some nice, fancy office he's got there. Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. They were planning this reveal for a long time I bet to make Lucas look more attractive in this love triangle. And let me say, that first scene with Elizabeth in Lucas's office finally made me understand what Elizabeth see's in this guy. We were finally shown a glimpse into Lucas's daily life and how he handles business. Elizabeth comes in wanting to talk, but he has to be on the phone bc, ya know, the guy has to work, and we see him taking care of his responsibilities instead of pining over Elizabeth. Usually, in every scene that involves Elizabeth and Lucas, he's typically able to give her his full attention and the entire scene is about him wanting to win her favor. But finally we have a scene where he isn't just there to win her heart and he has to tell her, 'sorry, but can we do this later?' And bc of that the dinner invite didnt come across too forward and it made sense bc they had things to talk about. The scene just really built up a new side to Lucas's character that I felt we hadn't seen yet and that was lacking. He actually feels like a character with an independent purpose now. And of course I didn't forget. The French. Yeah it was both attractive and again added to Lucas's character. I'm sure the Lucas shippers are drooling right now. And on a more serious note, his French sounded very good and I actually just looked it up Chris McNally speaks French so...yeah very cool. But Elizabeth's French when she was saying goodbye at the door...oh how cringey. I mean she spoke well too, but it was just unnecessary and oh I cringed so hard when she did that.
When she went back to his office later...oh no. He said he didnt feel up to having dinner together, and then she still didnt leave him alone and was like, well I can stay and we can just talk. Um, no Elizabeth, the man just said he didnt want to talk right now, but I guess since it's not talking over dinner then it's okay??? And she patted the cushion for him to join her on that teeny tiny little bench. Yo, there was no room for two there. They were pressed up against each other so much it was so awkward to watch. I mean that was like being forced to sit in the two-seater bus seat when clearly there's only room for one. And then the hand hold...yuck, and the deep breath like they were both being tempted...eeh, and then he kissed her hand...ooh. He had to tell her to go bc he wanted to remain a patient man. I'm glad he told her, I'm not surprised that happened. Come on Elizabeth, give the man a break. I mean what did you think would happen when you asked him to sit right next to you on that tiny bench for one. Omg and she fanned herself after exiting. She likes him that much?? Or she's trying to make love form from a purely physical attraction.
I really don't like the whole Rachel and Christopher romance. Maybe I would like it and believe it more if the actors actually looked like teenagers. I mean, Rachel does not look 17, especially since we regularly see child actors on the show in school and they are entering their teens, if they aren't teens already. When comparing a kid like Anna to Rachel, Rachel just seems way to old for 17.
I love how we see Allie's side to this love triangle plot. I loved the scene between her and Elizabeth in the school house. I liked that we were finally having a discussion between just them, and then Elizabeth opens the invitation! I laughed so hard! The pop up of Nathan in his mountie uniform and Elizabeth at the dinner table. Oh that was so funny! and also adorable. Allie wasn't taking any of it, yo she said *Fine and she snatched that invitation back and she tore it up. I was yelling at my tv, yes Allie you tell her!
When Elizabeth approached Nathan at the parade...come on E. That was not the time or place. Again, I like that they have these conversations and disagreements, but the writing of that dialogue was just so bad I thought. It was so awkward sounding and the pacing just felt off. It really didnt flow and I wonder if the writers were running out of time or something. When Nathan said that Allie is afraid to talk to Elizabeth without him present...oh that hurt inside. I feel so sorry for Allie, she's so hurt by all this I just want to make everything better for her. I like that Elizabeth's concern for Allie is at the forefront bc it's like her and Nathan are the concerned parents, but since Elizabeth rejected Nathan (and therefore Allie too) she really has no right to demand a say in how to help Allie feel better. Elizabeth isnt part of the family unit and Allie is solely Nathan's responsibility. I really liked Erin's acting in the way we could see the moment where Elizabeth thought back to her conversation with Rosemary and decided right then and there that she had to ask Nathan what it was he wasnt telling her. I'm kind of disappointed in the secret though. I had made that prediction, but thought it was just too much and unnecessary drama...and then of course that's what it was. I have no clue how this will play out. I can't even remember the preview for next week. Anyway, overall, Elizabeth central, but also Elizabeth's annoying. Lucas shippers finally have something of substance...sort of. And as usual Nathan and Allie steal the show and I couldn't love them more.
