Hi! i rlly enjoy ur comics! howd u got started doing diary comics and what keeps you motivated to draw them?

Hey thanks a lot !

when i started i was mainly inspired by cooler people than me doing similar things;

Boulet's blog , not daily and in a pretty different vibe, still already made me think making comics about your life could be cool & funny (tbh autobio comics blogs were pretty popular on the french internet in general at the time & there were many more of them, but i didn't dig enough back then so boulet was my main ref )

@lucieebrey's Muggy Ebes daily comic diary at the time was absolutely my main inspiration ( and tbh i've ended up drifting towards her style evenmore over the years, square-format often-4-panelled animal-headed schmuck type )( absolutely not a bad thing but i hope im not ripping it off too much huuuh )

(her blog is a recent new one and doesn't have those comics, but you can see a sample of them on her website ! )

very similarly, @kochalka's American Elf is a massive classic of the genre, big inspiration for lucie ebrey in the first place too i believe (and many others), and while i'm not sure i knew those when i got started i found & read them afterwards and they def fed into it

as for MOTIVATION oof huh;

i honestly don't know anymore how i did it when i started, it was in hopes of getting better & making something then, so i had enough motivation to fuel it going in, and probably forced myself a bit extra to set the habit. (if you wanted to start a similar daily project, i think it's really mostly about powering through the first few weeks or months ! after that it sorta becomes a background thing)

but now ?? it's honestly mainly the habit, as well as an arguably unhealthy approach to it : now that i'm that far in i'm both used to doing it AND really don't want to break the streak. not really thinking about it too much anymore AND unwilling to consider stopping

also a pinch of "currently i'm and have been in a big dump creatively and this is the last real project-type thing i have going and i HAVE to hold on to it"

I wish i had a cool answer about how these are very meaningful and important to me and a huge part of how i see the world and i keep drawing them for that kinda cool reasons but HONESTLY i'm just not that deep.

i'm making those because i do & i'm somehow not done yet

( to be more positive about it it's also just neat to do most times and i still have an absurd amount of progress to make still so who knows where it could go when i can manage to start evolving again. i'd like to see )

DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVENT SEEN GINNY & GEORGIA SEASON 2 TIL THE END ALSO TRIGGER WARNING: MENTION OF SH.

Honestly the way Ginny acts in the 1st 3 episodes is hella annoying I get that she has panic attacks and is going through a lot but she has no right to treat her mum the way she does. Once her & MANG get back together my opinion of her changed she still defo has major issues and can be super annoying at times. My girl Abby is everything like i freaking love her so much shes killing it this season idk whether its the fact that she's got new hair and thats giving her confidence vibes (Don't like the fact she slept w that Press dude not just bc hes a major asshole but bc she deserves soooo much better) I honestly hope Abbie finds love in the next season bc she derserves it and omg Georgia is still a freaking amazing queen of a mother (i love the southern accent anyway but Georgia's is freaking amazin😍😘🤣). Anyway Marcus and Gin are sooo cute but its clear hes got some issues of his own that he needs to work through first before loving anyone else its mad but i do feel for him love him so much but other scenes that made my heart warm were:

MANG being friends again honest to god Best friend goals for life.

Also the fact that Zion and Paul had their bonding session was hilarious (mainly bc Joe was working at the time and his facial expressions were soo funny🤣🤣🤣) Anyway The very last scene that touched my heart a hell of a lot was Georgia and Ginnys talk about Ginny selfharming I realise that although i was ranting about Ginny in the beginning she has grown a whole lot im glad she sorted things w her mum tho its been nice to see that after episode 3 (off and on bc lets be real here she's still a teenage girl).

Lets not forget Austin my sweet boy man he's now tramautised and will never be the same after shooting his Dad

The fact that Georgia got carted off by the police on her wedding day tho😮😮

Honestly i really hope she finds a way outta this one cause as much as i love Paul (way he stood up for her with Gil after learning all that stuff was hella adorable😍💜) but just bc Austin & Ginny love her and bc she belongs w Paul & Zion and the kids.

I really Reccomend this show if you like drama and Comedy and female empowerment.

Heavy Trip (2018): Review

(Spoliers free)

Just watch the movie today, and im going to say...this was the BEST metal movie I ever watch so far. (Thinking about watching deathgasm next)

To start off, if you dont know, Heavy Trip is a 2018 film about four Finnish metalheads (Turo, Xytrax, Jynkky, and Lotvonen) of the band "Imapled Rektum" got a big opportunity to play in a metal festival in Norway. It's basically a fish out of water story of the lead singer, Turo, of him facings the lions (metaphor for his fears).

The best part of the film is the characters, music, and comedy. My favorite characters are definitely Xytrax who is awkward but very smart about metal music and Jynkky being the passion and the shine of his friends and band. Turo is the most relatable character since I used to go through what he went through (being afraid to be seen as a failure). Unlike Hunter from Metal Lords (2022) which the people in his school actually have a good reason to not like (since he an asshole to everyone including his best friend); Turo is actually kind to everyone and the townspeople treat him like shit just because of how he looks. The only character I don't like is Jouni (idk he gives me "to catch a predator"/ pedo vibes).

Moving on, the soundtrack is amazing. There only song was the best orginial song in a movie I ever heard. Way better than Skullflower's songs in Metal Lords. The only problem I have (more like a nick pick) is I wish they put more metals songs espeically black metal since they're in Finland going to Norway.

Lastly, there were so much funny scenes in the film (mainly during the end of the film). There not one time I didnt stop laughing. The film is soo chaotic, that is funny asf. At least for the metal jokes, Its acutally seem sinecre and dont take themsevles seriously while in Metal Lords there werent all of jokes I laughed at and you could aruge that the movie kinda mocks metalheads inside of appericating them.

this might sound random but im pretty new to the fandom and canon gave me an unexplainable ick but I wanna check out the fanon stuff! is there any creators with certain ocs or different interpretations of the characters you really like or even just know of?? Even ask blogs! especially ones for the minor characters

First of all welcome fandom

I completely understand that. Canon at certain points gives me icks too. I almost even put down the series when starting out because of it. Luckily most fans just pick and choose from canon.I primarily follow creators that make cute stuff and explore the whole human side to nationhood (like me!)

sunnylolli-> they've got some great England headcanons. They've said they don't keep up with canon too closely. There are some historical stuff, but mainly its cute family stuff with dad England at the center. But there is also some fruk and Pruden there as well. Hightly recommend reading their fic Can I Stay for a Year or Two. Very well paced healing journey between America and England as well as America just healing in general because he's having a hard time.

balladofthewhitehorse-> great GerEng and Engport stuff. I don't think they ever actually read the series but their works have similar vibes to the way I interpret the Hetalia characters.

If you like GerEng or are at least open to it, I highly suggest Teethhoarder and their blog asking-gereng-> since they're working with a rarepair they've had to diverge from canon quite a bit. They have such a soft style and their depiction of GerEng has very much influenced my own depiction of the ship, specifically Teeth's depiction of Ludwig.

Ashafox-> A lot of wonderful Canada art. As a Canadian they're one of my favourite Canada artists. I don't know if this accurately goes along with the "different interpretations" you were looking for, but they have some 10/10 aus that I highly suggest checking out. My favourite has got to be their au where England is a vampire and ends up taking in two werewolf pups (America and Canada).

frukmerunning and their side blog ask-aph-axis-> they're so funny and I love how they characterize Japan. Don't let their ask blog name deter you, its only called that because they focus on the dynamic of Germany, Italy and Japan as friends (though itapan is going to/has gotten together).

I hope you answered your question. I don't know if this counts as different interpretations, but I tried to gather creators I love who either don't consult canon or have used canon as a jumping off point and expanded on the characters.

Personally, I'm in the camp where I use canon as a jumping off point. Keep only what inspires me and fill in the rest with my knowledge on history, other interpretations I like, and my own ideas. That's the amazing thing about the Hetalia fandom, we really have made it our own, so I hope you can find something you like anon and have a good time here.

love language ~ my love language is physical affection i think. im not huge on physical affection in general but if its from a loved one, i soak it all up like a sponge. even just holding hands makes me happy. quality time is also one a suppose. this being said, i do enjoy a bit of free time as well. i wholeheartedly dont care about material acts of love like gift giving. of course ill appreciate it but i dont require it at all.

it’s eleven thirty one time for a rant

i rewatched some old episodes today and god i had forgotten how much i love logan and patton together like how they interact and them being friends is such a beautiful thing there’s a reason logicality is the first ship i ever shipped

like there’s a clear distinction in how patton treats everyone except for logan because he’s the only one that he treats as an equal instead of a child*

(*well. at least until svs and pof because janus also seems to have stolen that place from logan. but still there are moments when patton has scolded janus** like a kid and with logan that’s never been that way.)

((** totally unrelated but i feel that patton gets all frustrated with janus and remus in such a funny way that it really makes me think of a dad meeting the problematic friends of his child who are definitely a bad influence on them so he’s trying to tell them off but he doesn’t really know how to because they’re not his own children and they don’t care about his opinion but he tries either way lol))

literally everyone else patton calls kiddo or mr. and he tells them to behave or encourages them to be nicer like a parent to his kid but with logan the energy is Radically Different.

they’re equals and suddenly patton gets a bit more Adult and less childish when he’s interacting with logan even if he’s still making jokes and being silly, somehow. you can feel the dad vs teacher deciding what’s best for the child(ren) thing they began in the mind vs the heart and now it just continues to define their relationship and i think that’s beautiful.

and i miss that. they have barely interacted in the last few episodes and in dealing with intrusive thoughts logan is just lecturing both virgil and patton throughout the whole video which kinda doesn’t let them be in the same level. up until logan mentions patton being too strict compared to him so that sort of brings them back together as partners/friendly rivals.

i need more of that. of them being on the same level and being friends. like sherlock and watson. like when logan gave him the hoodie. i love them.

i have been focusing all my attention on analogical and loceit stuff because it’s easy, the content is the most rewarding for my brain and also fan made content that kind of agrees with my vision isn’t that hard to find.

but god logicality has become so hard for me to find that i have given up on it all together and it’s been years since i’ve looked for fanfic about them because im scared of what i’ll find.

mainly because people don’t always grasp this vibe that i’m talking about in the post and they just have patton treat logan like a child like he does with the rest of the sides and thomas and i can’t stand that. i’ve read too many fics having patton call logan ‘kiddo’ and i couldn’t stand it anymore so i stopped reading all of them because even if some might be good i didn’t want to risk it. even without the obvious words patton will be too much of a father figure to a logan his same age and i’ll get out of there running (even when the ship is platonic) i can’t stand it because it’s not the dynamic i like with them. it doesn’t fit.

i had never in my life shipped characters or people because i thought they really should be together. like. i shipped hermoine and draco because i related to hermione and thought draco was attractive but that was it. i shipped whichever female character from avatar i liked the best with zuko for the same reasons. but actually looking at two characters and going “these two. they are wonderful. they can be best friends, they can be partners they can be whatever but i will think about them together.” that happened with logicality for the first time and i still hold them so dear in my heart.

and i don’t know i don’t have much to say i’m bad at explaining myself and at analyzing anything but i just love them with all my heart and i don’t know what i hope to achieve. maybe the ship will never have more to me than those few episodes in season one and Moving On and maybe that’s alright.

i just have a lot of feelings.

Ok ok, gonna be your travel agent, you need to go to Camden - I lived there for 4 years, because it's full of super cool places especially for vegan food and great shops (Shoreditch also, mainly Boxpark and Pop in Brixton). My fave markets are Camden markets, Spitalfields and Leadenhall, Portobello Rd, Borough, aaaand go to Carnaby St as well. Visit Barbican Centre and the whole Estate. When it comes to art except for the major Museums and galleries like Tate, definitely Dulwich, The Wallace Collection. Well currently the best Park in London is... Seonghwa, heh. But these are pretty cool too: Kyoto Garden in Holland Park, Richmond, Hampstead Heath and Primose Hill, Victoria Park, The Hill Garden and Pergola, Kew Gardens. Just some places of top off my head I have a whole ass food list when it comes to restaurants and cafe's so it depends what kind of food you like👀 - DV 💖

Aight, so here we go, be ready cuz shit's long.

(1st part - The Rui n the gang meeting; The Shou meeting) No Tw

Honestly, I also kinda wanted to do this for quite a long time, so I'm gonna firstly talk about how the gang (w/o really mentioning the others name's since they're gonna get introduced soon) met itself and decided to form, and then I'll individually do It in Lyva's and Shou's case, specifically Shou's since i mentioned that his meetin was somethin id have to take care of in another post, so i will rn.

First things first, w the whole gang. Now It wasn't really casually, mainly because Lyva n Rui did meet up, but It was during a special occasion still, that being a really important manifestation in one of the main regions in my oc universe. (They don't have name's yet so pls don't bash me🤡) Them being primarly the Forest, where Rui eventually lives in after all of his past shit, the near-countryside part, where Lyva was living, a pretty much city living on water, where Shou's currently living, and many more, as such the dunes with which I'll introduce Qiran (hopefully tomorrow/today),The sea itself, some High up places and as I said many, many other more. Other than this brief intro, they meet up where Lyva used to live, but mainly because of problems and out of conviniance.

Everyone had something to take back from, so they agreed to help eachother to reach that end, so it's all really planned. Now i won't really go w Lyva, cuz i explained how she met Rui the first time n how they helped her, so I don't need to ramble more on this. Now I'm gonna go w Shou's part though.

This Is more of a note i wanted y'all to know first, cuz i really like how Lyva n Rui met him the first time (cuz the second time was when the gang then all agreed to form n all that jazz.). Basically, Rui n Lyva were out, n visiting new places as such, to prepare themselves further and to try and search for more weapons, cuz they both knew that they'd eventually get in trouble, and even though they still are good, they wouldn't stand much a chance, n since Shou's Place is known for its production they decided to go. N fun fact, there's many funny shit that happends, for example Rui tries to touch a fish, but gets SLAPPED by It. They're still mad >:[. Ajkskdj anyways, some other stuff happends n they just, lose themselves. They had a map ofc but still managed to do so. But Rui was usin It so, I don't really blame em for gettin lost.

Shit happends n they find themselves pratically in front of his shrine/palace. Shou's servitors (cuz he saw everything happend from afar n gave them the okay) brought em in, but rather than makin em idk some tea n just making them recouver, Shou rather put them under some "tests" w/o tellin em, to see if they were any use.

For example he brought them some cups of tea, but before drinking them Rui noticed somethin unusual in the water, so they gave Lyva a sign to not drink It, n as Shou asked as a reason why they just replied that they weren't thirsthy, leavin Shou in a kind of defeated state. Bitch if i love this part honestly, there's so much fun to seein all of their reactions, but I'm gonna go brief rn. So other of this tests pass later n Shou eventually gets upset cuz they're all winnin n seemingly makin fun of him, lettin him in a weaket standpoint, n a fight happends. Even though it's a 2v1 situation he can still manage pretty well, so It ends in a draw. They get to talk after this and get to understand that they don't have to necesseraly be on the opposite side, though Shou Is still unsure whether to belive in that or not.

After they leave him, pratically almost alone w only a bunch of servitors helpin him. He admits defeat n won't show up until the event and yadayada. (Also it's during this weak time of his he'll meet Qiran which i already have plans w so it's all goin to be said bout their relationship in their post.)

(2nd part, the father mention.) Tw:father mention

So it's true that w Shou i did mention his father, but I'm not entirely sure bout his involvment honestly. In theory he kind of is a villain itself, even because of his devilish nature, so it's true, but im not sure whether to make him an independent villain or part of a group of them. But rather than that yes, i do want to make him some sort of villain in the end, because that's also part of Shou's agreement to be part of the group. I will make concept art for him so he'll definetly be involved. Not gonna lie, mabye that bastards also involved w Rui's cult too in a way or another but im givin in too many details holy shit I'll never get outta this fuck

(3rd part- where do they live) No Tw

They live in their own homes honestly, but It would be no surprise if they'd all decide to sleep over someone in specifical, though they have their own place. I made some concepts for Rui's intern home, which here It Is 😤 (forgive me for the bad quality but it's 2 am rn 🤡) I made this a while ago but only did Rui's, so I'll do Lyva's, Shou's n the other one's too. They live in different places, for the exception of, atm, Qiran, since I'm gonna say that they're more of a traveller n don't have a stable home.

(4th part- the mental/physical ilnesses) Tw: Self harm and Mental ilness mention

Well, this Is gonna be a ride. They all suffer from Ptsd, which Rui n Shou suffering from It the most. It still affects them all, though in different occasions, so Imma just do them in specifical. (Also because i gotta add some shit to shou that i didn't wanna add because i thought It was too much honestly)

Rui-

It affects them really much. They use crystals n gems to avoid anything going w their past or anything remotely related It, as whenever they feel awful about havin those flashbacks when they still were a child. They never want to talk about what happened, n during their moments It gets really, really bad. Both emotionally and physically, as their body sometimes cannot handle anything so it completely shuts down. They never really got any help for It as Rui's too scared to share bout their experience, both because of trauma itself that doesn't make them say anything even if they wanted to and because of the cults influence, so either way they've got to handle It by their own.

Lyva-

Other than havin to deal w mornin sickness, which Is the least for her, she has to deal w her neglectful childood and how desperate she's always been for litteraly anythin, whether it's related about love,friendship, food, toys, anything. She tried to seek for help and semi found It, but as of now she can't keep up w It and has better things to take care of. It's still really bad overall, but she's hoping for things to get better. Spoiler It really won't.

Shou-

It's... really fucking bad. I'm gonna get outta this w saying something i didn't want to add because it's really triggerin, but im gonna do It now. So basically, I've mentioned them acting feminenly for his own mother, but i didn't say what would've happened if he displeased her. She would just stare down at him and whispering some awful shit or names. This would happen especially whenever he'd slip off that mask of his or revealed even a tiny bit of his devilish essence. Note that he's still a child here. So, best thing he could to was to "punish" himself, which basically consists of him scratching his arms too much and, i don't really want to continue this, forgive me but it's kind of triggering even for me. But...you can guess what he's doing, since he even to this day still keeps sharp nails. I'm sorry for putting this, but it's another way to show how his mother fucked him up and now suffering from this.

How the gang would be like in modern times.

Kinda basing this off of texts I have with my friends because I get reminding everyday that my old friend group (kinda still my friend group.) are like the gang.

He would have like an iPhone 6 in 2020. And he would be so upset about it. But he wouldn’t complain cause his brother didn’t have money for him to have an iPhone 11 or something.

He uses every platform to text. He probably only texts like Johnny and sometimes Dally.

Johnny and him would FT for hours and during them be like “look what I sent you.” And then proceeded to a meme.

Still a whiny baby boy but 2020 edition

Didn’t pay attention to politics cause he isn’t voting so he has no say. :/

Would probably watch anime- but like mainstream.

Has two instagram accounts one for public people he knew and a secret one to post what he wanted cause Darry probably looked into his phone-

Tries to show Darry how to use a smartphone. Darry won’t understand it. But he tried.

Track team until COVID hit 🙄

Hated virtual learning. HATED IT.

Especially when Darry didn’t have work that day he would peep into Soda and Pony’s room to see him on his desk on a call.

Has a whole Instagram account about memes. Pony probably helps manage it.

Watches anime with Pony cause he finds it interesting. Does he understand what’s going on? No not at all but if Pony likes it then it’s okay.

Does really like Naruto though-

He hates school. It’s bad enough he skipped it most days. But now ITS AT HOME SO HE HAD NO EXCUSE TO NOT DO IT!

He would usually join the zoom calls but he kept his camera off and was on mute. His parents were probably arguing-

Some days he could be with Pony at his house and did his zooms from there.

Dally sent him a nude once and he was SCARED. Dally used social media for that purpose but we will get more into that later-

My manz always texted Ponyboy when he was to lazy to speak.

Texted a lot of people cause he was that guy. But mainly Steve, Sandy (when they were still a thing.), Darry, and Pony.

His IG was filled with nice pics of him and girls just commenting about how handsome he was. He got annoyed of it at a point and turned off the comment section.

Probably had tiktok and made Pony get it.

Had a free subscription of Spotify and my boy loved his music.

Texting pony is like.: “Hey could you tell Darry that I got the eggs he needed earlier.” Pony never told him. Darry got home with a carton of eggs and started yelling that they wasted money on extra eggs. And Pony stood there after hours of finally looking at the text and would just back up.

Random girls dming asking if he was single.

It made him uncomfortable.

But Steve would grab his phone and say random things to the girls and they’d leave him alone.

He didn’t understand Pony’s memes but liked them cause they were on his page.

He or Darry probably asked later on what it meant.

“Uh-huh.” Is the response after Pony took an hour explaining it.

Still didn’t get it.

Followed every single person he knew or liked on Instagram or any platform.
