The Sweeter Trick
Viktor x gn!Reader----626 words---SFW
Summary: You have more than one trick under your sleeve to convince Viktor to go to bed.
Tags: Established Relationship | Domestic Fluff |
The clock had chimed midnight by now, its ticking the only company Viktor had while working on his new project.
Between the scribble of his pencil dragging among calculations and messy blueprints filled with fragments of eraser, Viktor heard the muffled rhythm of your feet against the wooden floor of the hallway.
“Vitya…” you said, voice groggy; your figure almost shapeless with the oversized fluffy robe of your pajamas, almost like a cloak.
Viktor hummed turning to fully see you after settling his pen down, still comparing two equations to localize where the calculation had gone wrong. “Yes, my love?”
You sat in the armrest of the couch, leaning your body against the outline of the couch to rest your head against his. “Can you stay with me until I fall asleep?” you uttered, your fingers fidgeting with the hem of your shirt. “I’m scared.”
He sighed, pretending to be annoyed for the interruption, though you could hear the smile in his voice. “I told you not to watch that horror movie at night, dove.”
“But today’s the day to watch them!”
“It was,” he pointed out, always the smarty-pants. “It’s past midnight now. You should be in bed.”
“Please, Vikky, Vikky,” you said, pouting and giving him your best puppy eyes. "I'll fall asleep quick."
You saw his eyes flickering as he pondered his options; for once, the crouched position in the couch had given him a sore back, though he also wanted to keep going with his project before any idea could slip off his mind.
“I suppose I can take a small break,” he said, his muscles protesting when he stood up, a groan accompanying his stretches.
He took the cane, pushing the four empty coffee cups at the center of the table to not knock them over as he passed from the living room to where you were standing in the middle of the dim hallway.
“Come, my love, let’s get you to bed,” he said, going straight to the bedroom where you had already prepared the bed in case Viktor went to sleep with you in his own will, unsuccessfully. Until now, that is.
Your boyfriend tucked you into bed, using your reflexes before he could scoop away, pulling him by the lapel of his shirt so he had no choice but to lay next to you with a sigh.
Viktor called your name, almost naggingly. Though the sound stopped when you hugged him, making him the little spoon.
“Alright, you have your teddy bear, now go to sleep,” you heard him mumble, his breath drawing goosebumps in the crook of your neck.
“A very handsome teddy bear,” you said, and he chuckled.
“Goodnight, my love,” Viktor answered, his lips brushing your neck though his tone was more like a memorandum about you falling asleep than a proper goodbye.
You looked down at him, his pale skin from days to not have gone to a walk outside, the purple eyebags under those striking golden eyes.
Taking in his scent, of coffee and ink and citric, you kissed his forehead, bathing him in your warmth and dimming the lamp so the room was barely lit enough to see the pale skin peeking under his baggy night shirt, the hollow ends of his hipbone under the hem of his pajamas.
When you finished taking him in, you heard Viktor’s snores filling the room, his chest moving a soothing and even motion.
Smiling that your tactic worked, you slipped one hand toward the end of the blanket, wrapping it around his body as he scooped closer to you, his right leg climbing to rest in your thigh.
“Goodnight, my love,” you said against his hair, nuzzling into his presence as you too, fell asleep.

Heyo there Vikki! Could I please have separate headcanons for Kenny, Clyde, Craig, Butters, Stan & Kyle going to raisins because they heard the older kids talking about a new (and 2-3 years older) girl in raisins and how she was the best there so they decide to go, but after appearing there they find out reader was so popular not because she was pretty or good at flirting, but because she was very kind and sweet, and always greeted clients with a handshake and some kind words, and if you got lucky she could give you a hug and a kiss in the cheek when you were about to leave the table.
Headcanons New raisins girl
💙 Stan Marsh x fem!Reader 🐶
When Stan heard about how several older guys were talking about the new raisins girl, Stan did not immediately attach importance to this. However, curiosity got the better of him and he decided to go and find out what others were so excited about. They said the new waitress was the best, but at first Stan didn't understand what the reason was until you started serving his table
You were a couple of years older than him and you immediately approached him and greeted him with a smile, holding out your hand to shake his. He responded to your gesture, after which you took him to a table. You didn't flirt with him like other raisins girls usually did, but you still attracted a lot of attention and Stan understood the reason for that. You were genuinely kind and nice to your customers. Your sincere smile caused a blush on his cheeks and your attention helped him understand why everyone was so delighted after talking with you
When Stan was about to leave, you hugged him when he just got up from the table. He froze, surprised by this. Some of the other customers looked at him with envy. Stan didn't understand the reason for this, but he felt like he was a special customer at the cafe. Only later did he find out that you didn't hug all the visitors
He began to come to the cafe periodically to see you again. You rarely saw each other at school, but he could always see you at the cafe. He liked you even though you were older and in fact he knew almost nothing about you, but Stan hoped that you would have the opportunity to talk
💚 Kyle Broflovski x fem!Reader ✡️
Kyle was skeptical about the cafe "Raisins". He went there only with friends, but did not feel the same delight as other visitors. When he heard from the older guys about the new waitress who, according to them, was the best, he did not feel a hint of interest. He went with friends when they called him. They were interested in seeing the new waitress, and Kyle just wanted to prove to them that there was nothing special about her
Kyle saw you as soon as he and his friends entered the cafe. You greeted them with a soft, friendly smile, after which you led them to a table. You weren't flirting with them, you were just doing your job. However, Kyle began to understand why you were so popular. You were nice and friendly, which made you stand out from your colleagues
When Kyle decided to leave, you went up to him and hugged him. You didn't try to convince him to stay, it was like you were showing that he would always be welcome at "Raisins". Only the next day he learned from friends that you hugged not everyone, but only a select few lucky ones. No one knew on what principle you chose who to hug or even kiss on the cheek, but it was still nice
Kyle was glad that he could talk to you at school in a more relaxed atmosphere. He sometimes found you in the library and you could talk quietly there because others didn't even think to look for you there. Despite the fact that you were a couple of years older than him, he still liked to communicate with you and it wasn't just his liking for you
🧡 Kenny McCormick x fem!Reader 🐀
Kenny liked it when he and his friends went to "Raisins". He didn't have the opportunity to go there often, so he only went there when one of his friends was ready to pay his part of the bill or share food. When he heard rumors that there was a new waitress there, he began to convince his friends to go there. He couldn't wait to see the waitress that the older guys admired so much
When they finally got there, Kenny quickly found you with his eyes. You greeted them with a friendly smile and even shook Kenny's hand, greeting him with a soft smile. Kenny quickly realized what was the reason for your popularity. It wasn't about flirting or good looks. You were kind and friendly, you didn't try to flirt obsessively and even gave him a little more food for the same money
When they were about to leave, something happened that pleased Kenny even more. When he was about to get up, you hugged him and kissed him on the cheek goodbye. Until the end of the day he was in a good mood, especially because he knew that you hugged and kissed on the cheek not everyone
Kenny knew that waitresses at "Raisins" often used different ways to get more tips, but your friendliness had nothing to do with it. You were sincere in your friendliness and Kenny really liked it. He hoped that later he would have the opportunity to chat with you outside the cafe and that in ordinary life you would be as nice and friendly as at work
🖕 Craig Tucker x fem!Reader 🚀
Craig rarely went to the "Raisins". He didn't like how intrusive the waitresses were there. However, he went there again because of Clyde. He convinced Craig to go with him to see the new waitress that the older guys were talking about. Clyde couldn't wait to see her, but Craig didn't share his delight
He expected the new waitress to be little different from the others. Another obsessive girl who tried to get as many tips as possible with the help of flirting and cute appearance. However, you really stood out among your colleagues, if only because you were a couple of years older than Craig and your colleagues. You shook their hands in greeting with a friendly smile and took them to an empty table
Throughout the time they were there, you remained nice and friendly towards them. You didn't flirt with them, you didn't try to convince them to order anything other than what they ordered initially, and when Craig decided to leave and take Clyde away before he spent all his money, you hugged Craig goodbye, continuing to smile at them
All the way home, Craig listened to indignation from his friend for the fact that you hugged Craig. As it turned out, you didn't hug everyone. And although Craig kept his outward composure, it was nice for him to be among those whom you decided to single out among the huge number of cafe visitors
🌮 Clyde Donovan x fem!Reader 💧
Clyde was a very frequent visitor to Raisins. He knew all the waitresses by sight, and so when he heard the older guys talking about the new waitress, he became interested and went to the cafe at the first opportunity. He didn't know exactly what to expect, but the older guys were talking about the new waitress as someone who was better than everyone else, so he hoped that these were not empty words
When Clyde came to the cafe, he immediately noticed a new face. You were a couple of years older than him and you greeted him with a friendly, sincere smile. You shook his hand, then took him to an empty table. Clyde quickly realized that you were different from the other waitresses and it wasn't about flirting or looks. You were genuinely friendly and sweet, and that's what attracted all those who admired you so much, including Clyde
When Clyde finally decided to leave, he was in for a surprise that lifted his spirits for the next few days. You kissed him on the cheek goodbye. He didn't know that you kissed far from everyone, but when he found out about it, it improved his mood even more. He felt special and it warmed his heart pleasantly
Clyde began to visit the cafe very often to see you again. He liked spending time with you even though you could only see each other in a cafe. He hardly saw you at school, so he could spend as much time with you in the cafe as he wanted, even if he had to pay for half the menu for that
⚡Butters Stotch x fem!Reader 🔨
Butters avoided visiting the cafe after one of the waitresses broke his heart. However, when he heard the older guys talking about the new waitress who stood out from the rest and she was admired by all the visitors. Only this convinced Butters to go to the cafe again and find out how true the rumors were
When he came to the cafe, you immediately approached him. You were a couple of years older than him and Butters was sure he had seen you before at school. He didn't know what you were like there, but in the cafe you were genuinely friendly towards him, you greeted him with kind words and a strong handshake, after which you took him to an empty table
While he was sitting in a cafe, he realized why you attracted so much attention and why you were so admired. You attracted visitors with your sincerity and friendliness. You didn't try to attract attention with a bright appearance or flirting, you just remained friendly and sincere. This is what allowed Butters to feel comfortable in the cafe again. When it was time to leave, you kissed him on the cheek goodbye, which caused him great embarrassment, after which Butters hurried away
He began to come to the cafe sometimes to see you again. He felt that you were really sincere, so he believed you. He knew you weren't fooling him by pretending to be friendly. Even when you saw each other at school, you remained sincere and friendly. You did not change your attitude towards him even when you received absolutely nothing from your communication

Hello Hello! I've spotted the Deck of Phoenix tag enough times on my dash now that I HAVE to ask. Whats it about? Care to share the cool oc universe story thing? If you're interested in doing so of course! I would love to hear about it (:
YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'VE GOTTEN YOURSELF INTO FRIEND /pos
This is going to be long and barely coherent/word salady but here you go friend Merin :)
Okay so... Deck of Phoenix. Prefacing this with with the fact DoP's message is about finding your own way to deal with trauma of all kinds. All of the characters have their own trauma and deal with it in different ways for better or worse LOL! LMAO! The main 6 we have for the cast are Neptune, Vikki, Teresa, Twilip, Ichigo and Salem. Salem is Ollie's OC that got absorbed into the story and became one of the linchpins in Ichigo's backstory (Childhood friends who were kinda romantic then shit happened and then OUAHGAHFDHGgeF anyways)
The magic system in the story is really complicated to explain because it really only makes sense in my brain at the moment and it's supposed to be universal across many different alien worlds :) Hehe! Did I mention this is a fantasy sci-fi? In the way of a fantasy world in a sci-fi setting!!! HEHEHHE!
Every person/soul is born with an ability that aligns with two sigils (magic types) and it can range from something extremely powerful and useful to something that never even manifests. An example of the latter would be a character we have; she seemed powerless until she died because her power was to revive permanently when brought back by a necromancer. Back to the main characters! Neptune canonically has schizophrenia, he has the ability to see the future of someone when he looks them in the eyes, which is how the story starts and also how he finds out he saves the universe from an evil tyrant called Paradox (Name might be temporary, idk lol) But yeah he has a character arc that might be spoilers so i'll explain on discord but it makes his schizophrenia so so soooo much worse <3 <- Projecting my problems onto him. (Also he is the only human in the group)
Vikki's powers are under construction but! She is basically the glue holding the crew together and is a satyress :3 She likes ballet and is the sweetest person you'll ever meet unless you get on her bad side HFGJEHFVQ Also she's built like a centaur and it's so cool to meee cuz I love drawing non-human characters
Teresa is like if Doc was a Loverboy and also a necromancer >:) I'm thinking about giving her the weird gender swag just to make one of the others the only cis person in the group TKYURLF (Twilip) Xe's an alien from a desert planet and is kinda a cyclops lynx/kangaroo mouse and she kinda looks like a vortigaunt now that I think about it..
Twilip. How do I even explain... He's like if Boomer (bubby x coomer) was a person tbh.. Cranky old man who gives tutorials and worked at a library and he misses his late wife so so much :( BUT he has a swag ass pen that can make drawings come to life and he's about the size of a cat btw if you even care <3 /ref
Ichigo... WHERE DO I START. Ichigo's been our OC since we were a KID! So they technically have the deepest lore due to sheer time scale soooo.. They use any pronouns with a preference for they/them and ze/zir and zir sooo everything to me <3 Imagine Leading Light with cloud's buster blade and soooo many more insecurities... Yea :) I can't even begin to dive into their backstory because I will be here FOREVER but long story short, canon system allegory with being 3 souls meshed into one body by the US government to be a super soldier (A human, an alien, and an inter dimensional being) and the alien part is destined to destroy the universe but that's beside the point! Teehee!
For Salem I suggest asking Ollie because I don't wanna misinterpret anything about him <3
That's all I have for now because my fingers are starting to hurt from typing /g /lh I hope you enjoy!!!!! >:)

Hello! I’m new to the fandom and have been searching the depths of tumblr to find still active arcane blogs and I found yours! And you’re still taking requests I hope! I have a request for our sweet but sassy Viktor?
I was wondering if you could do headcanons for him with a sassy but sweet reader? Like she’s a little ball of sunshine and is always bouncing off the walls with energy and happiness but at the drop of a dime she’s ready to throw hands and gives sassy sarcastic remarks? Kinda like the recent post about a strong reader but with cute tendencies and an attitude problem on occasion?
If not that’s totally ok! I really like your blog btw! Viktor is my favorite! I hope you have a good day!!
Hey now you’re a rockstar tysmmm for stopping by and for the compliments ☺️😘im sooo glad ur enjoying your visit in the Simp Tavern. And oohhh I love this idea! Alright how’s this…
Viktor with a Sweet & Sassy Reader Headcanon
Tumblr media
Viktor can’t get enough of your attitude
He adores how you can go from practically singing about it how glorious the day will be- blessing the world and all those who inhabit it
To chewing someone out because they looked at him wrong or made some snide comment
Heck or even just got his order wrong.
Definitely a “Excuse me! He said no pickles!” type of girlfriend.
Even though he thinks you get a little worked up over things he doesn’t think are particularly that important (seriously he can just take the pickles off himself-) he loves how much you’re willing stick up for him
As a kid in the Undercity, he didn’t really have many people look out for him, so when you do it it makes him feel…important and special.
When he asks your reasons for doing what you do, you simple gawk and him and exclaim,
“Because you’re you! You’re worth it Vikky!”
Which then leaves him as a happy, blushing squish :3
Now with that being said, you’re not the only one with an attitude in this relationship…Viktor knows exactly how to deal with you. Because while it may not seem so, he matches your sassiness level
A sass battle between you too will go something like this:
“Dear, can you hand me those notes over there?”
“Oh sure cause God forbid you have stop simping over your precious hexcore for 3.4 seconds to grab them yourself.”
“Interesting…I don’t remember asking for attitude.”
“Excuse me?”
“Did I stutter?”
All the while Jayce is in the background like 👁👄👁
if it weren’t for the half-hearted glares and playful smirks you both wore while you had these little tifs, he would think you two hated each other.
However, if Vik really wants to shut you down, he’ll resort to his secret weapon- a certain nickname that you hate and love simultaneously. A nickname that makes you go from sass queen to stuttering fool.
He decided to use his secret weapon one day when you throw a bit too much attitude his way while trying to convince him to take a break
“Alright listen here you little stickbug — you know as well as I do that I will not hesitate to drag your bony, brittle bum out of this lab so you can get some actual rest. Now are you gonna stop being difficult, or do we have to or the hard way? Or as I like to call it, the fun way?”
Viktor responds by calmy setting down his pen and slowly turning in his stool to look at you as he folds his hands.
His amber eyes boring into yours. Expression calm but somewhat unreadable.
You, believing you had won the battle, begin to smile triumphantly, a gloating comment poised on your tongue, when a familiar mischievous look sparks in his eyes and an impish smirk grows on his lips.
His voice lowers, which only seems to amplify his rich accent, as he opens his mouth to respond to you.
Well…my little girl sure is rather forceful today isn’t she? I’m not sure what type of authority she believes she possesses, but it seems she is really trying her hardest. How cute…”
“While I wholeheartedly appreciate her concern for my wellbeing , she seems to have forgotten that she is not the only one who like to play “the hard way…”
He leans forward, indulging himself in the way your smugness immediately fades into shock, and your face bloom into a delicious shade of pink. His impish look magnifies as he continues,
“Now, will she be a good girl, and wait five minutes so I can finish up, or will she need to be taught a lesson?…Hm?”
You open and close your mouth repeatedly, trying to form some sort of comeback, but you already knew any attempt would be in vain…The moment that first sentence left his lips your, brain had already short-circuited.
Now it’s his turn to be smug. He grins triumphantly as he leans in to place a kiss on your bright pink nose
Good girl it is...smart choice…
@innergardentoadpony I love this prompt holy crap I had so much fun with this-

This Week In BL
January 2021 Part 4
Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs.
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series Thai
You Never Eat Alone Eps 1-6 - not BL, too weird for me. Only recommended if you really love YYY’s style.
Manner of Death Ep 10 - things are looking grim for our heroes, they’ve been shot and jumped off cliffs - as they should. Still fun.
Cupid Coach Ep 3 - we got some actual plot at last, but it’s rough going, I might be checking out of this one.
Gen Y Ep 12 FINALE - ended, not with a bang but with a: whaaat just happened? (Series recap here.)
TharnType 2 Ep 12 FINALE - ended, it was fine. The actual TharnType wedding will be released as a special ticketed streaming event because... BEAT THAT DEAD HORSE, BEAT IT!
1000 Stars Ep 1 - we are in proper drama territory at last, this is gonna be fun, not very tropey, but FUN. (Remember UWMA is my favorite BL, I like a heavy lifter.)
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series Not Thai
We Best Love: No. 1 For You Ep 4-5 (Taiwan) - singing the feels (one of my least favorite tropes) does not stop this show from being unfairly adorbs. Confession & rejection time. The TONE on this BL is just so pitch perfect. I love them both so much, but Sam Lin is a fantastic actor. Also GOOD KISS.
To My Star Ep 4-6 (Korea) - pivoted hard and went all in on BL, we stan a gay af boy, even if he is a weirdo - especially when he is a weirdo. Plus grumpy/sunshine is one of my favorite combos. However, it still doesn’t make ANY sense. But hell, Gen Y just ended in utter chaotic confusion. Do we need sense from BL? Do we need it from life? I don’t know anymore. I don’t know about anything... help me.
You Are Ma Boy Ep 4 (Vietnam) - no eng subs for the first few days but they eventually dropped; pacing still good, we had a seme confession and an uke panicked freeze out. (Not sure on the total # of eps as MyDramaList doesn’t include Vietnamese shows, but my feeling is 6-8.)
Tumblr media
Stand Alone
The Boy Foretold by the Stars (2020 Pinoy Film currently on YouTube, catch it now, it’s hard to find) based on a play this has (miracles of miracles) and out femme gay main character who meets the bi jock of his dreams in Catholic school. In classic coming-of-age fashion this is more about identity, friendship, and first love than it is a true BL (like I Told the Sunset About You). I struggled with the religious themes but if God (with a MASSIVE G) is okay with you then you’ll probably enjoy this.
Tumblr media
Gossip
Honestly what universe are we in where Korea and Taiwan are knocking BL out of the park and Thailand keeps dropping the flipping ball? What’s happening 2021? I am so confused.
I really hope Taiwan can get their secondary distribution in order and go with reconfigured movie style (like Korea) with sub rights to Netflix or something. I enjoy seeing Rakutan taking on Netflix & Prime but their Vikki platform is pants. We Best Love would make a GREAT little movie, I hope it does and I hope it sells like gangbusters.

Upcoming 2021 BL master post here.
Links to watch are provided when possible, ask in a comment if I missed something.

YOU WERE A BET -- Part 2!!
I had a lovely person message me and ask for a part 2 so here it is! Hope you enjoy!
▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪
Tears burned behind my eyes as I tried to hold them in. Rushing around what was mine and Angels shared room I tried to pack 2 years worth of belongings into my suitcase. Quickly ripping my clothes from the hangers in the wardrobe, I could care less if they broke, I needed to get out of here. A small thud made me stop in my tracks. Turning to throw the clothes in my hands on to the bed I reached down to pick up the small box. I couldn't stop the sob that wracked through me as I opened the lid. Photos stared up at me, almost mocking me with their happy smiles. 2 years worth of momentos filled this box. Cinema tickets, concert passes and funfair wristbands littered the top of the red felt lining. She kept all of them as a keepsake. Memories were important. Something to remember her and Angels time together. This box used to make her smile fondly when she opened it. Made her fill with love and think how lucky she was to have a boyfriend like Angel. Now all it did was fill her heart with pain and her eyes with tears. How could it have all been fake? How could he do this to her? Everyone told her she was foolish for believing he would want her. She felt foolish now. Embarrassed even. She let her heart rule her head. Let Angel fill it with hope and sweet nothing's. And here she was left holding the baby, just like her mother said she would be. Pulling a photo from the box she couldn't help the faint smile that spread over her lips. It was one of her favourite memories of their relationship. Bonfire night at the clubhouse. The first one Angel convinced her to attend. She could hear his voice now. "Come on, Mi Dulce. You'll love it." Glancing at there shared bed she remembered just how easy it was for him to convince her. To make her weak and pull her under. He was right, she did love it. Wrapped in a blanket sat in Angels lap, mug of hot coco warming her hands has they laughed watching coco and Gilly argue over who was going to set the first firework off. EZ Worriedly shouting about safety precautions as they fought over the lighter. That was the first time Angel told her he loved her, surrounded by the club and family as the fireworks went off. Letty captured the meaningful moment of them kissing as blue and green fireworks exploded in the background. And to think, all that happiness was a lie. It's all over.
Angel quickly paced back and forth in front of the clubhouse bar. "What am I gonna do?" Ez shook his head as he looked at his brother in disgust. "I knew you were fucked up, but not this bad". Angel sneered at him "Sorry Ezekeiel not all of us can be the favourite. You don't know what it's like to always be second choice. To have nobody be proud of you-" Ez cut him off fire in his eyes as he slammed Angel back in to the bar, Y/Ns cake falling to the floor. "You fucking had that! Y/N always chose you! You fucked up and threw away the best thing that ever happened to you! Stop the self pity and grow the fuck up Angel. All this shit about me being mom and dad's favourite, you can't keep using it as an excuse to justify your shitty behaviour". Bending down Ez picked up the scan photo that lay on the floor among the crushed chocolate cake. Handing the photo to Angel he looked sadly at his brother. "You're gonna be a good dad Angel, a family of your own is all you've ever wanted. Go and grovel and get your girl back. You can fix this." Smiling at his brother Angel held the scan photo tight and headed towards the door. Felipe's voice made Angel Pause. "Don't fuck it up Angel. You'll regret it for the rest of your life"
Pulling the zip of the suitcase shut I tried to lift it from the bed. After a few minutes of struggling I managed to get the case on the floor. Quickly pulling the uncomfortable dress off i changed into a pair of grey sweats and a baggy hoodie. I had a long drive ahead of me and needed to be comfy. Placing the memory box on the bed I grabbed the suitcase and headed for the door. Pulling it closed behind me I headed towards my car. My heart felt heavy. I remember when Angel asked me to move in. He was so nervous it was adorable.
{Flashback}
Laying on my side I sighed as I watched Angel sleep peacefully. I hated when I stayed over when I had work the next morning. I had to get up 2 hours earlier so I could drive home shower and pick up my work things. Groaning quietly I pulled myself from the warm bed, grabbing my clothes from the floor. A squeal left my lips in Suprise as a hand shot out pulling me back on the bed. Laughter left my lips as Angels form appeared above me. He looked so good, even when he's just woken up. How is that possible? I'm pretty sure I look like a homeless woman right now. "Don't go baby. Stay in bed with me. Call in sick" he begged as he pressed kisses to my neck. "As tempting as that is I have to go home to get ready for work." Sighing he lay back on the bed as he watched me get ready to leave in silence. "Will I see you tonight? Your gonna stay over again yeah?" He broke the silence. I shook my head disappointed. " No sorry baby I have a meeting to prep for tomorrow. Plus I have an even earlier start so id have to leave early hours of the morning so I could go home and get ready." Angel fell silent again as I packed my overnight bag back up. I could feel him watching me as I moved around the room. Zipping the bag closed I turned to Angel. Leaning over him I placed a kiss on his forehead "bye baby I'll see you in a couple of days". Angel wrapped his arms around me tightly. "Stay. Move in with me." Pulling back to look him in the eyes I was suprised. "Seriously?" Smiling wide Angel nodded. "I want you here with me baby. All the time. I hate it when you leave and I have to come home to an empty bed. I hate going days without seeing you. Please baby. I want nothing more than to have you live with me. I want to come home to you every day." Nervousness crossed his face as I stayed silent. "Y-you don't have to decide n-now. I-i-it was j-just an idea. F-forget I said anythi-" I've never seen angel so worried before. I cut him off a smile spreading over my lips. "Ofcourse baby. I'd love to take that next step with you!" Grinning Angel opened his bedside draw. "I already got you a key cut" his cheeks tinged pink as I giggled.
{{ End Of Flashback }}
The sound of an engine cut the happy memory short. Unlocking my car I opened the boot just as Angel pulled into the driveway. My chest constricted painfully as I made eye contact with him. God, i dread to think what I look like from all the crying. "Wait Y/N don't leave! Talk to me!" Scoffing as I tried to lift the heavy suitcase into the boot of my car. The heavy bag fell to the floor as I failed. Angel was quick to grab the handle of the case, stopping me from leaving. "Talk to you? Why would I want to talk to you? You and me are done Angel. You won your bet. Games over!" Shaking his head Angel broke down. " No, No you have to listen! Yes it all started as a bet. But I love you! You have to believe me. You were always too good for me. Youre fucking amazing and so smart. I was fucking terrified to admit I liked you. Coco and Gilly could see through me. That's why they bet me, they knew I hate to turn down a challenge. Fuck I've never looked at another girl twice since I took you on that first date. Ask Vikki I've not been anywhere near her house of whores since we got together. You're it for me Y/N" his eyes were rimmed red from all the crying and Y/Ns heart broke seeing him like this. "Don't leave me. please. Your the best thing that ever happened to me" pulling the scan photo from his pocket he have Y/N a teary smile. "And this is the second best thing. You're my world Y/N. I want nothing more than to be a family. I'll spend the rest of my life making up for this. Just give me a chance." Angel was all but on his knees begging. "This isn't how I expected this reveal party to go. I feel like everything has been a lie. How do I know this isn't another game? How do I know your telling the truth?" Shaking her head y/N rubbed the falling tears from her cheeks . "I think it's best if we give eachother some space. I'll be in touch about doctors appointments and checkups. I won't keep you from your child Angel." Lifting her case into the boot successfully this time y/N made her way to the drivers side. With one Last look towards a broken Angel she climbed in and drove away. Angel sobbed like a child as he watched the love of his life and unborn child drive away. With one Last look towards the dark sky Angel did the one thing be hasn't done in years. Putting his hands together he fell to his knees.
"Please mum. I need to make it right. Give me another opportunity to hold her and I'll never mess it up again" Angel prayed hard to his mum for forgiveness, guidance and hope for his little family to be together again.

Stranded Pt.3
Tumblr media
WD|Death Stranded AU with aspects of both worlds and my own thing, and mostly TWD characters showing up as we go.
Daryl Dixon x OC
Summary: 30 years have passed since the Stranding ended the world as it was known, as if pretty much the apocalypse came, and now people live in isolated communities or by themselves, while the dead walkers roam the world and so do hostile groups of people. Daryl Dixon is a freelance porter that during a delivery finds an orphan baby who he takes, unsure of what do with her, and not much later stumbles into Rick Grimes, and ex-guard looking for his missing family with the help of Grady Memorial Settlement, in exchange of working for them by joining to their net the other settlements, reconnecting the world, and with the help of Vikki, a scout sent by Grady to take Rick to those settlements, and to help them reach Alexandria, the final destination, a big, distant settlement, where his family is supposed to be.

The last chapter, Daryl and the baby met Rick Grimes, who’s working with Grady Memorial Settlement in order to reach Alexandria, where his family seems to be...and it seems that Merle Dixon might be with them there too...
*
“I know where I saw the Dixon’s name before,” Rick suddenly said, taking Daryl out of his thoughts. “In the list of people I found in the Quarry Settlement.”
“Can’t be.” Why would his brother settle down in a new, tiny camp? When they left their home settlement, Merle had gone to a bigger one which would be better for his drugs business.
“You can check it yourself, the list is in my bag,” Rick said, and Daryl wasn’t sure if he felt like going through the man’s things, but if there was a chance of him being right, of Merle having been there, then he needed to know. He got up and went closer to Rick, and the baby looked curiously at the man from his slinger. Daryl was a bit apprehensive, but Rick smiled at the baby, and didn’t try anything. Awkwardly, Daryl opened the bag attached to Rick’s suit and reached inside, taking out a paper, but it was a picture of a woman and a small kid. “My family,” Rick explained, and Daryl nodded, placing the picture back inside the bag, careful not to bend it.
The next thing he got out was an envelope. Inside it was a note signed by someone called Shane, as Rick had told him his best friend was called, and written in it was everything that Rick had said. Daryl also took out a note with some inventory from the Quarry Settlement, and another one in which they seemed to have written the tasks of the camp and who was doing each, making a schedule, and there it was the name. Merle Dixon.
How could it be.
“It’s your family? Brother?” Rick asked and Daryl nodded in silence, dumbfounded. “I take you didn’t know where he was?” Daryl didn’t answer, didn’t even hear it, a million thoughts were running through his mind, and he began pacing back and forth the bunker, looking at the paper, wondering what he should do…Merle…Merle had been not far…Merle was now maybe in Alexandria, for reasons that Daryl didn’t understand but that sounded strange to him…but anyway…his brother was maybe with Rick’s family…what should he do… Finally, Daryl stopped his pacing and looked at Rick.
“I’m going to Alexandria.”
Rick nodded at it, and Daryl knew he got it. They were both going to look for their family. “We could help each other,” Rick suggested and Daryl knew it made sense, but he was still apprehensive at lowering his guard and trusting him, even if Rick seemed to have said the truth and seemed genuine, and didn’t feel to Daryl like one of the bad guys…but he had a baby with him, he had to be careful… Daryl studied the man in silence for a while again, and finally he nodded. He took his knife and went to the man, cutting his restrains and then he untied him off the chair. He really hoped he wouldn’t regret it. The man smiled at him, nodding too.
“How you know you can trust me?” Daryl asked to the man. “I could kill you, take all the shit that Grady gave you for myself.” He nodded at the bag.
“You just don’t seem to me like you’re one of the bad guys.” Rick shrugged and his words took Daryl aback. Nobody had thought like that in his old settlement, he knew what they thought of him, and though he probably deserved it, he’d always wondered if it’d something to do with his Dixon name, and also with Merle. “Besides…” Rick smirked, looking from him to the baby. “I know it means nothing and someone with a baby can kill you too, but you carrying your baby around…I don’t know, didn’t strike me like a murderer.”
“Murderers got kids too,” Daryl said and when Rick nodded, chuckling, he found himself smirking and chuckling too. “And I’d murder anyone who tries to hurt her.” He felt so protective over her, it was stupid considering he’d had the baby for three days, but he couldn’t help it.
“I know.” Rick nodded, serious again. “I’d do the same for my kid…but, are you sure about taking her to Alexandria? We’re talking about a long journey to places neither you nor I know, and probably dangerous.”
Rick was right…but Daryl didn’t know what to do…his original plan had been to take her to Grady Memorial, but he’d never been too keen on that…but it might be the best chance for the baby, and Rick was right, the path to find his brother was a long, dangerous journey towards the unknown…
“I was on my way to take her to Grady…” He murmured, looking at the baby, stroking her cheek softly with his fingertip, and the baby made a noise and smiled at him…it didn’t feel right, to leave her in Grady, not even if Rick was working with them, their agreement just threw Daryl off more somehow, there were too many blank spaces in it and things unanswered…
Rick frowned at that. “Really? You got family or friends there? I wasn’t expecting that…”
“No, no, I…” Daryl chewed on his lip, but finally he decided to say the truth. “She ain’t mine. I found her in a bunker three days ago, their parents were dead and so I took her, I thought that if I got her to Grady she might have a chance of having a good life in that posh place…”
“Seriously?” Rick seemed surprised. “She’s not your baby? And…three days ago?” He looked from him to the baby and back at him like he was amazed, and Daryl felt a bit awkward. “You both look like you had been together all her life, she seems so attached and fond of you, and man, you’d do anything for that baby, I only got to look at you to know it.”
Daryl would, he knew it, even if it was crazy and didn’t make sense. “She seems fond of me?” He found himself asking, a smile tugging at his lips.
“She does, and she seems so comfortable with you, I’d have never guessed she wasn’t your baby if you hadn’t told me.”
Daryl felt something tugging at his heart again, and he stroked the baby’s cheek again. He was so ridiculously attached and fond of her…and Rick said she was too? It made Daryl feel so many weird things that he almost felt dizzy, and he knew it, he knew he didn’t want to leave that baby and never see her again, he didn’t want to let go of her. But maybe it’d be the best for her, having a posh family in Grady, which could give her anything she needed, living in a sheltered place with all her needs covered, it was certainly better than the life Daryl could offer her, and he wanted the best for her…but he didn’t want to let go of her. And what if he left her in Grady and the family who took her wasn’t good with her? What if she wasn’t treated right? What if they were abusive assholes like his own family had been? Daryl felt rage but also panic at the idea.
“I don’t wanna leave her in Grady,” Daryl finally said aloud and Rick nodded.
“It’s dangerous, sure…but I think maybe the best place for her is with you.” Rick said, and Daryl hoped so, he really did. “She’s attached to you and…I’m working for Grady, but I didn’t like the place that much, it didn’t feel right, might be because they all feel above the rest of us as you said, might be something else…but if she’s with you, you know you can protect her better than if you leave her with someone else who you don’t know. When I find my family, I’m not getting separated from them again, and for that baby, you’re her family.
Daryl felt again all those feelings at Rick’s words, he felt moved even, and he nodded. He wasn’t giving up that baby, he was going to take her with him and protect her from harm. Rick looked at the baby and smiled. “You heard, baby? We’re all going to an adventure to find my family, and also your uncle, yeah, your daddy’s brother…” As he said that, Rick frowned and looked at Daryl. “Sorry, it’s…it’s just I thought you were his father all this time…if you don’t want me calling you that-”
“No, it’s fine, it’s fine.” Daryl found himself liking it, even if it made him feel all sort of weird feelings again, and also an arrow of pain and sorrow in his gut, but he forced himself to push those thoughts away, he couldn’t deal with them, he’d never could. “So, are we leaving? You got supplies?”
“Yeah, Grady gave me a lot of things, but we could expend the night here, leave early in the morning if the timefall stopped,” Rick said and Daryl nodded. Rick rummaged into his bag and took out a map, spreading it on the table. “Okay, first stop is here.” Rick pointed at a dot not far from where they were. “CDC Settlement, Grady told me it’s kind of their settlement too, there’s where people build stuff for Grady, they’re getting me a bike there.”
“Alright.” Daryl nodded, hoping they could get him a bike too since he was going to help the guy that was working for them. It wouldn’t be his brother's bike, but it’d be a bike…Merle was gonna be so pissed when he arrived at Alexandria and he found he’d lost his bike…
“There’s also someone waiting for me there.” Rick looked at Daryl as if he were sure he wasn’t going to like that.
“What for?”
“They didn’t want me going alone so they radioed one of their scouts and told them to wait for me there and help me reach Alexandria,” Rick explained. “I didn’t know I was going to find someone in my way.”
Daryl didn’t like the idea of having to travel with yet another stranger, but he didn’t think there was anything he could do about it. He could try to go looking for Merle alone, try to reach Alexandria on his own, but he knew it’d be a long journey to do alone in an area that he didn’t know, he’d never been past Grady, and whether he liked it or not, he knew it’d be easier and safer to travel to the unknown with the help of people, he had to accept that. Besides, like porters, scouts were resourceful people, used to survive out there in the dangerous world. Settlements sent them to explore and find new places, or to bring to them people in need of shelter, or who wanted to move. It was always good for settlements to have more people working.
“Okay,” Daryl grumbled.
Rick seemed to catch the sentiment, and he didn’t seem too happy about Grady pairing him up with someone of them. “Tell you what, we don’t like that scout, we leave just the two of us.”
“Ain’t sure whatever contract you have with Grady allows you to do that…” Daryl muttered…he kind of felt like Grady wanted to have Rick controlled, but maybe they really just wanted to help.
“We’ll see…” Rick shrugged and got out some packages of rations. “Do you want some?”
“I got cans of food.” Daryl took out two from his bag. “Better save those rations for the journey.”
“Alright, thanks.”
Daryl took also a milk bottle and then he realized something. “I gotta go to Grady, I need milk bottles for the baby, I’m running low.”
“You want me to go all the way back to Grady after I just left?” Rick complained.
“You want me to run out of milk and starve her?” Daryl snapped.
“I’m not saying that…look, CDC is closer, we can go there, see if they have baby milk-”
“Why would they have baby milk in a place of just workers?” Daryl interrupted him.
“Maybe they have kids.” Rick shrugged, but Daryl doubted it, if they had, they probably moved to Grady. “Maybe they have regular milk, she can eat that too even if it’s not as good, I don’t think it’ll be easy to find baby milk, not even in Grady, there are not that many babies anymore.” Rick might be right, but still, Daryl knew he needed milk for the baby, and the biggest settlement was Grady. “Alright, look, we go to CDC, if they don’t have milk, we ask them to bring us some from Grady, they’ll be faster than us with their bikes. They want me to go connecting settlements to their net, I want them to bring me baby milk.”
“I think you overestimate how important you are for Grady.” Daryl snorted, but if someone from Grady did deliver them milk, it’d be faster than having to go on foot. “Alright, we do that, just don’t get all offended and sad when Grady says no and send someone else to Alexandria, Mr. Important.” Rick chuckled at that but didn’t say anything, and Daryl began to feed the bottle to the baby.
“What’s her name?” Rick asked and Daryl wondered why he hadn’t thought about that before.
“I don’t know…there was no name in the note I found…”
“And you didn’t give her any name?”
Daryl shrugged, he hadn’t even been sure that he was going to keep her, he had been on his way to get her to Grady… “I just call her baby?”
Rick chuckled again. “Alright.”
*
On the next day, they followed Rick’s map to CDC Settlement and Rick’d been right, they arrived there quicker than if they had backtracked to Grady. The baby had spent part of the journey sleeping, but she stirred when they were close. Daryl felt her moving in the sling and cooing and so he picked her up.
“Hey, Baby, you took a good nap, yeah?” He told her quietly, holding her to his chest and rocking her. “You okay? Wanna eat?”
“Hey, BB, look, we’re almost there.” Rick pointed at the CDC building. “Sure you rather eat in there than outside here where walkers and timefall can come to us, right?”
“BB?” Daryl frowned at Rick.
“Well, you just call her ‘baby´so I don’t know, it fits…” Rick shrugged, chuckling. “Unless you thought a name?”
Daryl scoffed. “She’s Baby, ain’t you?” he looked at her.
“That’s not a name?”
“And BB is?” Daryl rolled his eyes. Baby didn’t seem hungry, for now at least, or she’d be complaining, and Rick was right, it’d be safer to feed her inside the CDC, and it was just a few meters away. “Alright, let’s rush there.”
*
The guy at the reception of the CDC had been glad to see Rick, but then he’d seemed puzzled to see someone with him, and even more puzzled to realize that the other man had a baby strapped to him. Daryl could feel the shocked eyes of the man on him while he walked to the room where they had to wait for the scout that was supposed to help them reach Alexandria.
Daryl sat down on a chair to feed the baby while Rick paced back and forth, waiting. Daryl looked up when he heard footsteps in time to see an asian woman walking in, giving Rick a friendly smile as she approached him. She’d dark eyes and fiery red hair, keeping her fringe and the hair closer to his face pushed back into a half ponytail, and she looked very friendly and non threatening…Daryl didn’t trust it.
“Hey! You’re Rick, right? It’s nice to meet you! I’m Victoria, but call me Vikki, and…” The eyes of the woman landed on Daryl. “Uh…who are you?”
“He’s Daryl, we found each other out there, his brother was in the same settlement than my family, so he’s coming with me to Alexandria,” Rick answered for him, while Daryl held the baby protectively to his chest, studying the woman…
“Alright, the more the better, yeah?” The friendly smile was back on the woman’s face, but she still seemed surprised. “But…you got a baby with you! I’ve never seen a porter carrying their baby before…actually, no one of the porters I know have babies!”
“It’s  a long story…” Rick answered again instead of Daryl.“ Listen, Daryl doesn’t have many bottles of milk left for her, can you ask a porter to bring some from Grady before we leave?”
“Sure, but…just…I don’t know what they’re gonna think…” Vikki frowned seeming thoughtful. “Or how long it’d take, I’m pretty sure there aren’t babies at Grady…can I have the map?” She asked to Rick, who had taken the map and was inspecting it, and he nodded, placing it on the table. “Look, see this dot? That’s the Greene’s farm, we have to connect them to the net. They got protected crops and cattle, which means, clean cow’s milk, I’m sure it’ll work perfectly for your baby and it shouldn’t take us more than a day to get there with the bikes, alright?”
The woman looked at Daryl and he checked the bottles that he had left and nodded, they would last and he felt like he’d rather have Grady not knowing about him and the baby for as long as possible.
“Good!” Vikki smiled brightly at Daryl and he had to admit that she seemed a genuine person, like he’d thought of Rick…at any rate, she didn’t look like the kind of person he’d imagined would be working for Grady, even though he was still suspicious of her, he couldn’t lower his guard and trust her blindly. She did seem genuine, though, and her smile turned into a grin when she looked at Baby, who was also smiling at her and cooing. Daryl knew that he shouldn't go softer on a stranger just because the baby seemed to like her, and she seemed to like her too…but it helped, he couldn’t stop it.
Vikki pointed at some other dots in the map, telling them the names of some of the places, until she pointed at one way further west. “And the last one is my friend Malingen’s place, I haven’t seen her in so long, and she got a baby a couple of months ago, but I know nothing of her since them, I can’t wait to see her… anyway, that’s the closest settlement to Alexandria that I know.” Vikki informed them, her smile gone now.  “A team went to clear paths to go further but disappeared, and then the few scouts that tried to go never came back and we never heard of them again except one, she came back saying that there was a big settlement called the Sanctuary, the people there called themselves saviors and didn’t let anyone pass, they either killed them or enslaved them, so no one has dared to venture there again.”
“Sounds like Grady is sending Rick to a suicide mission,” Daryl muttered. He’d heard that the area of Alexandria was so far that nobody really went there, that it was unknown and dangerous, but not the way Vikki was saying it.
“My family is in Alexandria,” Rick said and Daryl wondered how he did it to not doubt it even for a second. His family might have changed their mind, why would they go to somewhere they didn’t know just because they were with someone with family there, which was already strange now that he thought about it, since Alexandria was far and very unknown to them. And now Rick knew how dangerous the journey and the area was…maybe his family had even died on the way there already. Yet Rick was absolutely sure that they were there. Daryl thought it was kind of delusional but at the same time he admired it, and it helped him to think that his brother might be there with them too. “So I’m going to get to Alexandria.”
“Well said.” Vikki smiled.
“So, Grady got what they wanted,” Daryl said, he was still suspicious and he didn’t expect to stop feeling like that. “Someone with a motivation strong enough to go to Alexandria and do what they want no matter what, not caring if they die because of it.”
Vikki seemed taken aback by that, and Daryl tried to, but he couldn’t see any hidden intention in her. “I…guess…I hadn’t thought about it that way…”
“What’s in it for you?” Daryl asked her, determined not to let his guard down with her.
“Me?” Vikki blinked at him as if she didn’t expect that question, and she seemed to think it for some seconds. “I just want to see that area, Alexandria, maybe other new settlements, I want to go further than I’ve done, I want to know what’s there…I’m a scout, I’ve scouted all this area and everything to the east…I want to see the west now.” Daryl just hummed at all that…he knew scouts wanted to rediscover the world, but this was a dangerous journey, she had said so herself, doing so just for the sake of seeing new lands…Daryl wasn’t sure if he bought it, but as he studied the woman, he still couldn’t sense any threat coming from her, and she kept talking.
“No other scout wanted to go with me after the news of that Sanctuary place, and I’m not crazy enough to venture there alone without backup and help…So when Dawn from Grady asked me to help Rick go to Alexandria, I said yes in a second! I guess they knew I’d wanted to go there for a long while now, I got lucky.”
“Well, we can help each other to reach Alexandria, then.” Rick smiled, though as Daryl looked at him, he thought he was studying the woman and her words too, as if he didn’t trust blindly either.
The baby shifted in his arms, tugging at his clothes and making soft babbly noses, and as he held her to him, Daryl realized something, feeling like an idiot for not having seen it way before. “I can’t go on a suicide mission with a baby.”
“We don’t know if it’s a suicide mission…but yeah, you’re right, it’s dangerous…too dangerous to take a baby with us, I think.” Vikki seemed sorry as she looked at him, and Daryl felt conflicted again.
“I was gonna leave her at Grady but…couldn’t do it, couldn’t leave her,” he admitted quietly, a bit embarrassed, without looking at the woman.
“It’s understandable that you don’t want to leave your baby, nobody would…but it’s going to be dangerous, and I’m not sure if once we leave the area I know, we can protect ourselves, let alone a baby…” Vikki frowned, seeming thoughtful.
“She’s right.” Rick nodded, though he seemed sorry too.
“I damn know she’s right.” Daryl didn’t mean to lash out at him, but he couldn’t help it, overwhelmed be feelings as he was. “But I gotta find my brother…but I ain’t gonna get her killed…” He looked at the baby, who cooed and smiled again, all those feelings tugging at his heart and stabbing at his gut.
“Are you thinking about leaving her at Grady again?” Rick asked him softly.
“No…no, I ain’t gonna let her in that place with that damn people…” Daryl didn’t care that Vikki heard him talking like that about her people, he still didn’t trust Grady and had never liked the people there…what could he do with the baby, though, if he didn’t leave her there. “Or…I dunno…”
“Where are you from? Could you leave her in your settlement?” Rick asked him and Daryl snorted. His place didn’t have the best reputation around, and Dixons had a reputation there too, if people knew that a Dixon had brought Baby there, sure her life would be less from ideal, the people would make sure of that, and he had nobody there anyway.
“Don’t want her growing up like I did,” he said. Daryl didn’t know what to do and he felt defeated, maybe he should have left Baby at Grady after all…he couldn’t just not go looking for his brother, leave without knowing if he had made it to Alexandria or if he was dead, or if he’d gone to someplace else…
“Daryl, listen,” Vikki began, as if she was going to say how great Grady was, Daryl wasn’t going to listen to that bullshit, and he glared at her, but she didn’t back down. “Hershel Greene is a good, kind man, old-fashioned but good, and so are his daughters. If we ask him, I’m sure he’d take the baby and take good care of her until you were back…or you can stay there with the baby, I’m sure Hershel will welcome to have some help in the farm,” Vikki added when she noticed Daryl’s reluctance. “At least until she’s big enough to be your little porter assistant.” She smiled at the baby.
“I gotta find my brother.” Daryl shook his head, he couldn’t just stay somewhere playing farmer, not now when he knew where his brother might be.
“When I reach Alexandria, I’ll ask for him, I’ll let you know if he’s there, once those settlements are connected, it should be easier to communicate with each other,” Rick offered, but Daryl shook his head again.
“Nah, I’m going too.” He didn’t like the idea of leaving the baby in a place he didn’t know, with a man he didn’t know, but who seemed to want to get connected to Grady, or Grady to him.
Vikki seemed to notice it. “Look Daryl, the way I see it, you can either leave your baby at Grady, which you don’t want to, or you can go to the Greene’s farm and meet Hershel and see what you think of him yourself, but I think you’ll like it better than Grady, and I promise, the Greene’s would take good care of your baby.”
Daryl hummed…she was right, though, he didn’t have many choices. “Okay.”
“Good!”  Vikki grinned, looking at the baby. “And you don’t like the Greene’s? Then I’ll get you three safe to Malingen’s place. I told you, she just had a baby, I’m sure she’d take care of your baby too while she waits for us to reach Alexandria and come back. I’m sure you’ll like Malingen, she’s the nicest, kindest person I know, nobody has ever disliked her!” Vikki assured him. “And if then you decide to stay back and wait for Rick and me, I’m sure she’ll welcome the help of a porter, she’s a scientist and always needs to have stuff delivered to her lab.”
Daryl just hummed…he was going to go to Alexandria too, but it was good to know that there were potential places where he could leave the baby, now he just had to be sure that they were trustworthy and safe, and that the baby would be alright there. The idea of leaving her felt like a kick, but if it was for the best…

“Well, what a surprise! Catcher’s late, once again!” Vikki announced, tossing her gloves onto the table next to her chardonnay.
Barbara jumped in, “I wonder what it could be this time. I mean, how many stray poodles could that man possibly need to help in three days?”
“Now, now. I-I’m sure he just got held up in traffic, I mean you know what the bridge is like at this time of night,” Peter said, wiping his sweaty palms on his trousers.
“Peter, he doesn’t need to cross the bridge to get to this restaurant.” Vikki pulled a compact mirror from her her purse and reapplied her lipstick.
“Well, still,” Peter muttered softly, “The bridge can get very busy…”
The maitre’d walked over to their table with a telephone in hand, “Excuse me, Miss Novak?”
“Oh, look! Right on time!” Barbara exclaimed, as Peter let out a sigh of exasperation and pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Oh no, no!” Vikki interrupted, slamming her compact shut and reaching for the telephone, “I’ll talk to him this time. I refuse to let this man make a fool out of you or me any longer!”
Vikki picked up the receiver and sat back in her seat, “This is Vikki Hiller.”
Catcher Block’s voice came through the telephone over the slow swinging of a jazzy tune, “Ah! Miss Hiller! Listen, the darnedest thing happened to me today-“
“Let me guess,” Vikki crossed her legs curtly and twisted the telephone cord around her index finger, “You needed to help a blind orphan read a book? Youuuu ran into a group of homeless nuns? Oh, I know! You singlehandedly saved a group of school children from a burning building, what a hero!”
“Your words, Miss Hiller, not mine.”
“Mr. Block, let’s cut to the chase. What is your location?”
“Well, now, why would you want to know a silly thing like that?” Catcher laughed.
“Because, I am running out of patience. Miss Novak and myself have been floundering about, waiting for you to show up for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the past three days. Now, I can’t speak for Miss Novak, but I, personally, am getting awfully cross.”
“And I’ll bet you look adorable when you’re cross.“
“I want an address.”
Catcher sighed, “1552 Park Street.”
“1552 Park Street,” Vicki repeated. Peters’ eyes widened as she continued, “I’ll be there in 20 minutes.”
Vikki hung up the telephone and stood up, pulling her gloves back on, “Barbara, you enjoy your dinner, I’m going uptown to meet with the rat.”
“Oh, Vikki, you really don’t have to go to all this trouble.”
“Nonsense!” Vikki pulled on her large coat, “You’re my client and you’re my friend. I promised you a meeting with Catcher Block, so a meeting with Catcher Block is what you’ll get!"
Peter stood up from his seat, haphazardly gathering his things, “Uh-uhhm, perhaps- perhaps I should join you!”
“Peter MacMannus, you sit!”
Peter sat, and Vikki grabbed her purse and stormed out of the restaurant.
                                                     ~~~~~~~~
Vikki’s cab turned the corner onto Park Street and she was brimming with rage, just waiting to give this Catcher Block a piece of her mind.
The cab driver pulled up in front of her destination, “That’ll be $3.25.”
She pulled a five dollar bill out of her purse and handed it to the driver, “Keep the change.”
She got out of the cab and looked up at the blinking neon sign on the brick-front building that read, ‘Sunset Lounge’. She believed she’d overheard some of the other editors talking about this place over coffee during their morning meetings. It wasn’t until Vikki made her way closer to the entrance and noticed some smaller posters that read, ‘DANCING’, ‘GENTLEMEN’S ENTERTAINMENT’, ‘BEAUTIFUL GIRLS’, and ‘TOPLESS HOSTESSES’, that she realized what lurked inside.
“Of course Catcher Block would be wasting my time in a place like this,” she shook her head, “He’s just like every other man.”
Vikki hiked her purse up over her shoulder, puffed up her hair, and marched inside without giving it a second thought.
The door closed behind her and the hallway inside was dark and seedy, the sound of muffled jazz music coming from somewhere she couldn’t see. She walked slowly, trying her best not to touch anything and eventually she came across a pair of glass doors that opened up into a fabulously decorated room, the music now swelling all around her.
Vikki inhaled and took in her surroundings- half naked ladies dancing to a choreographed number on a large ornate stage, topless hostesses serving guests at the bar, a VIP lounge filled with all kinds of people.
Well, this place sure is a gas.
She lit herself a cigarette and scanned the room for Catcher, but when she couldn’t find him, she took to moving about the room. She inched her way through the bustling crowd of tipsy older gentlemen and topless ladies holding trays of drinks, when she was dumped out right by the stage. She looked up and watched the girls dancing around in their teeny, tiny, shiny skirts and their knee high boots. Some girls wore bustiers, others simply wore tassels on their nipples, and Vikki found herself wondering whether or not those things were comfortable.
She realized she had been staring a little too long, but one of the ladies had caught her eye. All of the girls had their hair pulled back into ponytails, except for this one. Her long, dark red, wavy hair was bouncing around as she kicked her long legs high into the air, and-
“Oh!” A large man bumped into her, causing her to drop her cigarette onto the ground.
Her last cigarette.
She exhaled angrily, and shouted in the direction of the man, “Well, thank you very much!”
“Cigarettes?”
Vikki turned around and was met with a topless women holding a tray full of different brands of condoms, cigarettes, and tiny bottles of liquor.
“Oh. Umm,” she murmured as she scanned the tray, just trying to keep her eyes on the tray and the items on top of the tray. The tray. She found her brand, plucked a pack from the bunch, and tipped the hostess, trying incredibly hard not to make eye contact with her breasts.
She didn’t want to be rude.
She pulled a cigarette out of the new pack, lit it, and searched the room once more for Mr. Block. Vikki took a long drag and exhaled a colossal cloud of smoke, “That man had better hope that I don’t find him, because when I do, the next exposé he writes will be about his own funeral.”
She caught a glimpse of the ropes leading to the VIP lounge and figured that he must be hiding there, pompous as he was. So she elbowed her way through the crowd, her cigarette locked between her knuckles. Once she made it to the red velvet ropes, she was confronted by an unenthusiastic bouncer of sorts.
“Name.”
She took a step back, brushed her hands down her dress, and cleared her throat, “Vikki Hiller.”
“Not on the list.”
Vikki’s eyes dropped down to the piece of paper in the man’s hand and then shot back up to meet his eyes, “You didn’t even look at the list.”
“You’re not on the list.”
“Well, how could you possibly know that if you didn’t take the time to check?” Vikki crossed her arms, and took a quick puff of her cigarette.
“You’re a woman.”
“And?”
“Miss, the VIP lounge is for private dances from our female dancers.”
Vikki straightened up and adjusted her coat, “You don’t know what I’m into.”
“Look, lady, you’re not on the list, so why don’t you go back to your book club or whatever and let me do my job, alright?”
“No, you look, buddy!” She pointed her index finger into his chest. “I am trying to find Catcher Block so that I can wring his sorry little neck! Now, is he on the list?”
The man sighed and looked through the names on his form, “I’m sorry, miss, there’s no one on the list with that name,” he turned the sheet around, “Look for yourself.”
Vikki scanned the names on the list and, sure enough, Catcher’s name was nowhere to be found. The crowd erupted into an uproarious round of applause as the stage dancers finished their number. She dragged on her cigarette once more, and blew the smoke up toward the ceiling, eyeing the man, “Well, thank you,” she said sarcastically, “for all of your help.”
She turned on her heels and trudged through the crowd in the opposite direction. This time, when she made her way out of the crowd, she found herself by the bar, and if she was being completely honest, a comfortable seat and a stiff drink sounded amazing right about now.
She dropped herself onto a stool, tossed her purse onto the bar, and asked for a gin and tonic.
While she waited, Vikki spun her seat around so that she was facing the crowd. She started to wonder whether Catcher was really here or if he had just sent her to this place to drive her crazy. She definitely wouldn’t put it past him.
That man. Some nerve he has.
She caught sight of some of the dancers coming from backstage. Some were still in costume but the rest were dressed in regular clothes, so Vikki figured they must have finished their sets for the night. And still, some of the girls were only wearing those tiny skirts and those nipple tassels. Now, Vikki was definitely one to risk comfort for a stylish outfit, but if that were her, she knew she would be just freezing! She wondered if those girls were cold, too. And then there were the ones on the floor that were straight up topless. She really respected those girls. She typically had a good amount of confidence in herself and her body, but if she had to have it on full display like that, at work no less… she simply wouldn’t be able to do it.
Wow, she thought, these girls must be so confident in themselves. So tough. She crossed her legs, and took a drag on her cigarette.  Ugh. The men they probably have to deal with night after night. No, thank you.
“Your gin and tonic, miss.”
Vikki spun back around to face the bar. She thanked the waitress, and took a sip of her drink, thankful that it helped to melt away at least some of the tension of the night. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed another woman take the seat next to hers and overheard her order a dry martini.
“Rough night?” The lady asked, leaning her elbow on the bar.
Vikki took another sip of her drink, stamped her cigarette out in the crystal ashtray on the bar, and said, “As rough as one night can get, I think.”
The waitress placed the girl’s martini on the bar, and the girl put the olive between her teeth and pulled it off of the toothpick, “Care to talk about it?”
Vikki thought for a moment. Part of her felt uncomfortable, and a little guilty, unloading her problems onto a complete stranger, but the exhaustion of the night was taking over and she desperately needed some advice. She sighed, “I’m having trouble with a certain… gentleman. If one can even call him a gentleman, that is.” She rubbed at her forehead in an attempt to dissipate her headache, “He told me to meet him here, and-“
“Here??”
“Yes.”
The girl played with the toothpick, stuck it between her teeth, “Well, you’re right, he doesn’t sound like much of a gentleman to me.”
Vikki nodded in agreement, took a large sip of her drink, and tilted her head back. She closed her eyes and allowed the warmth of intoxication to spread throughout her body.
“I mean, he could have at least taken you to the Russian Tea Room or something, but hey, what do I know?” The woman laughed.
Her eyes still closed, Vikki actually started to laugh a little bit, too. “No, no. This wasn’t supposed to be a date or anything of that nature.”
“So, you two aren’t…?”
“Heavens, no!”
“Well, thank goodness for that! I was beginning to worry about the future of mankind for a moment, there!”
“Oh, goodness,” Vikki laughed, “No, he’s a writer, and for Know magazine of all things, so that should already tell you how pompous he is. You see, I’m a senior editor at Banner House, and this man has swindled my client out of a meeting for the past three days. I finally got so fed up that I demanded to know his whereabouts, so that I could give him a piece of my mind in person, and he gave me this address. I’ve been looking for him all night, and either he’s reeeeeally good at hiding,” she finished off her drink,” or he stood me up.”
“That sounds just awful!”
Vikki ordered a second gin and tonic, “Or he simply lied to me, which is also an incredibly real possibility, given his plethora of alibis over the past three days.”
“Well, I’ll tell you what, he sounds like a proper jackass.”
Vikki looked over at the woman, “He is a proper jackass! I’m Vikki Hiller,” she stretched her hand out, “Thank you for listening to me ramble on about my problems, I’m sure this is very uninteresting to you,” she laughed.
The woman shook Vikki’s hand, “No, not at all, I’m… really enjoying getting to know you, Vikki Hiller.”
“May I ask your name?”
“Cashmere.”
Vikki hesitated for a moment, “Huh, that’s… different!”
The woman laughed, “Don’t worry, that’s not my real name. Cashmere is just my stage name.”
“Oh my goodness!” Vikki put a hand over her heart, and laughed. “Not that Cashmere isn’t a pretty name!”
The waitress set Vikki’s second gin and tonic on the bar.
“It’s okay, it’s okay. Some of these men can get pretty sleazy, so I like to protect my identity. My real name is Quinn.”
“Mmmm,” Vikki sipped her drink, “Well, if it means anything at all, I think Quinn is a lot prettier than Cashmere,” she smiled.
“Why, thank you, that’s very sweet of you.”
“Stage name… Oh, wait! Aren’t you one of the dancers I saw on stage earlier?”
“That I am, Miss Vikki!”
“I knew your face looked familiar! Your hair was down while you were onstage,” Vikki remarked on Quinn’s hair, now pulled back in a low bun.
“Oh, you’re right,” Quinn reached back and pulled her hair out of it’s bun, letting it fall down past her shoulders, “Some of the other girls can’t dance with their hair down, they say it get’s into their eyes, or it makes them sweaty, blah blah blah…” she laughed and shook her head, letting her hair bounce around, “I think it’s fun!”
Vikki became so distracted by Quinn’s hair, that she almost forgot to speak, “Uhm, well,” she cleared her throat, “You have really gorgeous hair, I must say.”
“Thank you!” Quinn sipped her martini, “I also wasn’t wearing this jacket on stage.”
She flashed it open for a brief moment and Vikki saw that she was one of the dancers wearing the tassels on her nipples, and her eyes went wide for a second before she forced herself to reign it in, “Oh!”
“Oh, I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable, I wasn’t even thinking!”
“Oh, no! It’s not that, it’s just… aren’t you cold? When you’re walking around in just… those?” Vikki leaned in and asked.
Quinn laughed, “It can get a little chilly, yes! But when you’re dancing, it just feels so… freeing. And comfortable!”
“Wow. I don’t think I would ever have the confidence to pull those off,” Vikki crossed her legs.
“Oh, come on! You would look great, I’m sure of it!”
Vikki laughed, and covered her now reddening face. She was enjoying this conversation so much, she almost forgot why she had originally come here. That is until she noticed Catcher Block out of the corner of her eye. He was leaning against a wall, talking to another gentleman and drinking a scotch.
“Oh, lord.” Vikki drawled.
“What is it?”
“Don’t look, but that’s the man I’ve been trying to find all night,” she said in a hushed tone, as if Catcher would be able to hear her from across the room.
Quinn looked anyway.
“I said don’t look!” Vikki laughed, “Oh, see? There. He saw you.” Vikki pulled her compact out of her purse, and reapplied her lipstick. “Well, this should be a fun conversation, that is if he doesn’t try to run away again. Is he still looking over here?”
Quinn checked, “Mhm.”
Vikki snapped her compact shut and put it back in her purse.
“You wanna give him a show?”
“What?” Vikki glanced over at her.
“Y’know… A little something to really get his attention.”
“What do you m-“
Vikki was cut off as Quinn reached over, hands on her cheeks, and planted a giant kiss right smack on her red lips. She was so taken by surprise, that her hands shot back and her fingers splayed open, and she practically froze right there on the spot.
Quinn pulled back and noticed Vikki’s stiff demeanor, “Ah gee, I’m so sorry… was that too much of a show?”
Vikki closed her eyes, her eyebrows raised, “Oh, no! No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Uhhumm, it was- Oh, god he’s coming over here.”
Quinn turned to look, and then turned back to Vikki, “Hey. You’ve got this.”
“Yes. I do.”
“Don’t let him take you for a ride again.”
“No,” Vikki downed her whole gin and tonic.
“You’re the senior editor!”
“I am!” She lit another cigarette.
“Go get ‘em, Vikki Hiller.”
Vikki stood up, took a long, deep drag on her cigarette, blew the smoke out in front of her, and brushed her hands over her dress, making sure it was perfect. She puffed up her hair, and rolled her neck.
As she walked over to Catcher, she took notice of the smug look on his face hidden underneath the thin layer of charm, and she was ready to blow her top.
“Catcher Block.”
“Ah, you must be Miss Hiller! You sound as angry as you did on the phone earlier.”
“Mmmm, yes, earlier, you mean three hours ago?? Where have you been?”
“Well, you see, I was a little busy, Miss Hiller, I-”
“Busy! Ha! Peter, Miss Novak, and I were all busy, too. Busy waiting for you! Busy sitting around when we could have been working. Or having social lives! But no, we were all busy waiting for the phone to ring so that you could tell us whatever harebrained alibi you had come up with that day!”
“Oh, have you not heard my brilliant story about how I had to help an elderly woman with a broken leg cross a busy street?”
“Why, no. I must have missed that one while I was arguing with bouncers, getting knocked over by men twice my size, and trekking around this seedy joint looking for an arrogant, self-indulgent lunatic.” Vikki’s pokes into Catcher’s chest with her index finger. “But don’t worry, I’m sure I’ll catch the next one.”
Catcher started chuckling to himself.
“I’m sorry. Do you think this is funny?”
“Oh, no no. I don’t think this is funny.”
Vikki was losing her patience, “Just what are you laughing at?”
“Well, pardon me if I’m wrong, Miss Hiller, but it sure looked like you were having a good time over at the bar…”
“At the b-“ Vikki stopped in her tracks, almost forgetting the out-of-the-blue kiss that Quinn had planted on her a few moments ago.
“There it is, yes! The kiss! The one deployed in order to 'get my attention’.” Catcher made air quotes with his fingers. “The one that you definitely ‘didn’t enjoy’.”
Vikki thought for a moment. Had Quinn kissed her with intention? And not because Catch was watching? No, no. No, that’s ridiculous. Quinn had to be straight. Vikki wouldn’t necessarily label her as a ‘girly girl’, but she was still pretty feminine. And pretty. She couldn’t be a…homosexual. A lesbian. Weren’t all lesbians supposed to be butch and masculine? Yes, right, and they wear suits, not… tassels… on their nipples…
Vikki shook the thoughts from her head, “Oh, what do you know?”
Catcher let out one more snide chuckle as he eyed Vikki and leaned in close to her ear, “I know an excited woman when I see one…”
Vikki stood stark still and stared straight ahead.
“…And you were one excited woman.”
Catcher stood back up, and Vikki took a long drag on her cigarette and blew the smoke across his face, sarcastically, if that was possible. He patted her on the shoulder, “You think about that one a little bit longer. I’ll meet you and Barbara at the Waldorf Astoria tomorrow for breakfast…” he eyed her once more, “Or maybe lunch, perhaps?”
He walked away and Vikki stood alone, cigarette in hand, lost in her thoughts for a moment or two before eventually shuffling back over to her seat at the bar.
“Hey!” Quinn said, “I ordered you another gin and tonic.”
Vikki eyed the drink and considered downing it all in one gulp, but she wanted to hang on to whatever sobriety she had left.
“Do you have everything sorted out now?”
Vikki pulled her focus from the glass and simply gazed at Quinn for a moment, biting her lip. And then she stopped thinking. No more thinking. No thoughts. She leaned over and grabbed Quinn by her jacket lapels and kissed her, right there. And for longer than she had anticipated.
She sat back down onto her seat and exhaled, before wiping at the corner of her mouth with the tip of her ring finger, “Yes. Yes, I think I do.”
Quinn settled back into her own seat, dazed, “Well. That certainly was…” she trailed off, “What was that all about?”
Vikki tried to put on an air of confidence, however her vulnerability was seeping through slowly.
“You kissed me.”
Quinn looked down at her drink, “I did.” She lightly slid her finger around the rim of the glass. “I apologize if I put you in an uncomfortable position.”
“No, no, it’s- you didn’t. In fact, I think you might have done just the opposite.”
“…The opposite?”
“Quinn, I think you may have… opened me up to a part of myself that I didn’t even know existed.”
Quinn looked more than relieved to hear Vikki say these things, yet it seemed she was still having trouble looking Vikki in the eye. She exhaled, “I’m just glad you’re not upset.”
“I am not upset. I… I don’t really have the words to describe what I’m feeling, but,” she paused, and shook her head, “I really like you, Quinn.”
Quinn looked up, her eyebrows raised. She smiled, “I really like you, too, Vikki Hiller.”
Vikki smiled back and took a sip of her drink. “I must say, this certainly does explain the things I was feeling when I saw you up on that stage,” she laughed, swirling the liquid around in her glass.
“Oh, really?”
“Mhm.”
Vikki caught Quinn staring at her out of the corner of her eye. She slid her now reddening face into her hands, “Stop that!”
“Stop what?”
“Looking at me like that,” Vikki laughed.
“I can’t help it,” Quinn sipped her drink, “Y’know, I saw you, too, when I was up on stage.”
Vikki peeked her head out from behind the palms of her hands, “You did?”
“I did. The look on your face was… pure wonder. I almost messed up the whole routine because I couldn’t take my eyes off of you,” she chuckled.
Vikki gazed at Quinn.
“And then this big lug bumped into you and made you drop the cigarette you were holding, and the vexation that washed across your face was absolutely priceless, I just knew I had to talk to you.”
“Oh goodness,” Vikki cackled, “did I really look that angry?”
“Yes, but it’s alright because then you bought another pack,” Quinn laughed right along, “Once you pulled out a new one and lit it, all I saw in your eyes was confidence. Strength. Determination.”
“Well…” Vikki grew quiet, “that’s very sweet of you to say.”
“I mean it! You, Vikki Hiller, are a force to be reckoned with.”
Vikki blushed, and took another sip of her drink, and another drag on her cigarette before stamping it out. The two girls sat in comfortable silence for a moment or two, until Vikki turned back to Quinn.
“Y’know,” she said, “I really enjoyed kissing you.”
“I enjoyed kissing you, as well.”
“I think… I think, I’d like to do it again.”
“Really?”
“Mhm.”
“Well, then what are we waiting for?”
“Well, I certainly don’t want to do it more in public! I might be a force to be reckoned with, but I am more reserved about things like this.”
“I’m not talking about here, silly!”
Quinn pulled some cash out of her jacket pocket and left a tip on the bar. Vikki followed suit, pulling a neatly folded ten dollar bill from her purse and placing it on top of her glass. Quinn grabbed her hand and pulled her through the buzzing crowd.
“Wait, where are we going?” Vikki shouted above the music.
“Backstage!”
The music swelled as they made their way closer and closer to the stage in order to reach the door. The girls ducked and weaved themselves around groups of people large and small. Dancing, drinking, networking, and definitely not moving out of the way. Vikki wasn’t afraid to use her elbows, but she made sure to keep a tight grip on Quinn’s hand, afraid of losing her in this mass of people.
After what felt like an eternity of “Hey, watch it!”’s and “S’cuse you, sweetheart!”’s, the two ladies made it to the door and pushed their way through, finally managing to escape the commotion.
Quinn exhaled, triumphantly, “Okay. Made it.”
“Well, wait, aren’t there still going to be people back there?”
“There shouldn’t be, it’s pretty late.” Quinn led Vikki down the long hallway. “Besides, I’m taking you to the dressing room. There might be some dancers lingering around in there, but I assure you they’ll be very cool about it when I ask them to leave.”
“How do you know that?”
“Honestly? Most of the dancers here are queer, and the ones who aren’t are incredibly supportive. They’re like my sisters.”
“Well, that’s really sweet.”
“And plus, they use the dressing room for this kind of thing all the time.”
“Less sweet,” Vikki joked. “It’s interesting that all of these queer women work at a gentleman’s lounge.”
“Well, now, there are a couple of reasons for that. For one thing, this place pays very well,” Quinn laughed, “And the men who come into this place might be scum bags, but at least if we’re dancing for them no one really suspects anything about us.”
“Wow…”
“And we all get to be together! I’ve known some of these women for years from other jobs, gay bars around town, things like that. Y’know, there is a bar downtown that I’d love to bring you to sometime,” Quinn winked.
Vikki tried to hide the blush spreading across her cheeks.
The two approached a large blue door with ‘Lounge Dancers’ printed on it, “Here, we are!”
Quinn opened the door to a room filled with flashy costumes and feather boas, bright lights around mirrors and posters of famous female performers plastered all over the brick walls.
There were three girls chatting on the sofa, when one of them looked over and said, “Oh hey, Quinn! Would you please tell Ginger that we do seven high kicks in this dance and not eight. She keeps messin’ up the timing,” the girl laughed.
“Listen, Kit, when we learned that dance, I swear on my life it was eight counts and eight kicks!”
“Oh yeah,” the third girl spoke up, “and the rest of us just happen to be messing it up at the exact same time in the exact same way.”
Quinn laughed, and closed the door behind Vikki, “Ginger, it’s seven kicks.”
“Told ya.”
Ginger rolled her eyes, and Kit asked, “Who’s the tall dame ya got there, Quinn?”
“Ladies, this is Vikki. Vikki, this is Kit, Ginger, and Pamela.”
“Well, hello there, Vikki,” Pamela purred, and Kit smacked her on the shoulder.
“Soooooo, Vikki and I were hoping to use this room for a little while, if you girls don’t mind…”
Kit stood up from the sofa, “Say no more, we were just about to head out anyway.”
The other girls arose and collected their things, making for the door. Ginger said, “We’re all gonna grab a few drinks at Lottie’s if you wanna meet us there. Vikki can come, too!”
“We’ll see. If I don’t catch up, you ladies have a great time!”
“Goodnight, Quinn!” The girls hollered.
“Goodnight, Vikki,” Pamela winked from the doorway.
Kit tugged on Pamela’s ear, “Whatsa matter with you?”
Quinn closed the door, laughing.
“Your friends seem like a real blast,” Vikki chuckled, placing her purse on top of one of the vanities, and tossing her coat onto the sofa.
“Yeah, they’re definitely an interesting pack of gals,” Quinn placed her hands on Vikki’s waist, pulling her close, “but, um… I don’t wanna talk about them anymore.”
Vikki’s voice hushed, and she glanced down at Quinn’s lips and back up to her eyes, “What do you want to talk about?”
Quinn was now an inch or two from Vikki’s face, and getting closer by the second. She brushed her bottom lip against Vikki’s, and said softly, “I don’t want to talk.”
A fire lit behind Vikki’s eyes and she closed the space between them with a passionate kiss. She threw her arms around Quinn’s neck and pulled her as close as she possibly could. She doesn’t remember ever kissing a man this intensely, or feeling anywhere near the amount of things she’s feeling right now. Sparks. Fireworks.
The two parted, breathing heavily. Quinn looked up at Vikki, “Are you sure this is what you want?”
“Yes.”
“This isn’t just something you’re experimenting with right now that you’re going to regret tomorrow, is it?”
“Quinn, just shut up and kiss me, goddamnit,” Vikki said, breathlessly, and Quinn did just that.
Vikki let her hands wander for the first time. They were exploring so many new places. Touching so many new things. Her hands were laced through Quinn’s hair, tugging, pulling. She’d never experienced anything more sensational than running her hands through the long, luscious hair of a woman. She grabbed Quinn’s ass. Every man she’d ever been with in the past had a backside so flat, you had to use a telescope to find it. Her hand lightly brushed against Quinn’s breast. Men sure as hell didn’t have those.
She slid one of her hands underneath Quinn’s jacket, embracing the bare skin of her stomach, hips, and back as she pulled her even closer, wanting to experience all of her.
Quinn started kissing down Vikki’s neck, “I wanna wrinkle that perfect dress of yours.”
“Yeah?”
“Mmmm.”
“I want you to take it off.”
Quinn looked up at Vikki for a brief moment, and kissed her hard. Rough. She reached around to unzip the dress and Vikki let it fall to the ground as she kicked her shoes off. She was now standing in the dressing room of a gentleman’s lounge wearing nothing but her bra and underwear. Which were matching, of course.
“Wow,” Quinn breathed, “Red lace. You didn’t peg me as the red lace type.” She winked.
“Oh, didn’t I?”
“No. But, my god, am I glad to be proven wrong.”
“Well, if things keep going the way they’re going, you might be able to see me in nothing at all,” Vikki leaned in and kissed Quinn slowly, with purpose. She slid Quinn’s jacket off until it fell to the floor next to her dress. She traced her hands down the other woman’s bare, freckled arms, causing her to shiver. Quinn took off her boots and her skirt, until she was just as bare as Vikki.
Quinn quickly flipped the switch and pushed Vikki up against the door, Vikki gasping as her bare skin met the cold metal. Quinn kissed down Vikki’s neck once more, her hands running over her smooth skin, cupping her breasts, as Vikki’s eyes drifted shut. Quinn reached up and removed Vikki’s hair from its ‘do, and it fell down into a mass of dark waves that now sat just below her shoulders.
“God, you’re gorgeous.”
Quinn kissed down Vikki’s stomach and Vikki leaned her body against the door, her arms stretching up and over her head, as something inside of her pulsed, ached.
“Quinn,” Vikki breathed.
Quinn looked up and into the big, dark eyes gazing down at her. Vikki simply stared, her chest heaving. She didn’t know how to ask, but it turns out she didn’t have to say anything.
Quinn stood up, making understanding eye contact with Vikki, and she leaned in and kissed her softly, her hands on her hips. But her hands slowly moved, now teasing at the hem of Vikki’s underwear. Both of their eyes closed, Quinn broke the kiss and waited a beat, as she leaned her forehead up against Vikki’s. She felt Vikki nod, and she slid her hand down, between her legs.
Vikki exhaled at the touch, at the long-awaited release of tension, while Quinn moved her fingers rhythmically, quickly realizing just how turned on Vikki actually was.
“Oh my god, Quinn,” Vikki hummed.
Quinn kissed along her jawline, down her neck, across her collarbone.
Vicki whispered, “Can I tell you something?”
“Of course you can.”
Vikki bit her lip, “I’ve never… you know… with a man before.”
“You’ve never…”
“…Orgasmed. No. Only by myself, never with another person.”
“Oh, honey,” Quinn kissed Vikki, “I can promise you won’t be saying that after tonight.”
She began moving her fingers expertly once more and Vikki moaned and threw her head back. Quinn was slow and fast. She was rough and soft. She was so many things all at once and Vikki almost didn’t know how to process it. Sometimes her brain would take a brief second to remind her of exactly what she was doing. Something she’d never thought in her entire life she would be doing. But then Quinn would bite her ear, or leave a mark on her neck, and Vikki would tell her brain to zip it, because she was having the time of her life.
“Oh. Quinn. Fuck.”
“That’s it,” Quinn said softly. She could feel Vikki tensing up beneath her. “C’mon, Vikki Hiller. Senior editor at Banner House. Tall, gorgeous, force to be reckoned with.”
Vikki moaned, biting her lip, almost in an effort to stifle it. She was nervous. Once she did this, it would mean that she really… did this. And she was anything but prepared for what she was about to feel.
Vikki had her arms wrapped around Quinn, and she leaned her head on the other woman’s shoulder, “Quinnnn, ohhh. Oh, god!”
Quinn felt Vikki clench up around her fingers and she held her as her body rattled and jolted against her own.
Vikki held on to Quinn as tightly as she could, afraid she was going to fall to the ground because her legs just about gave out. Her vision blurred for a moment and she shook from shivers of aftershock.
“That was…” she breathed, “I can’t…”
Quinn kissed her nose.
Vikki exhaled, smiling, “That was cute…” her smile turned devious, “but I’m no princess, honey.” She pushed Quinn over toward and onto the sofa and straddled her. She leaned down and whispered into her ear, “It’s your turn.”
Vikki moved Quinn’s long hair out of the way and kissed down her neck, leaving little bites and marks, trying to mimic what had been done to her. She felt like she should be more nervous, but she just… wasn’t. She had never made love quite like this with a man. Vikki liked it a bit rougher than the average person, but any time she was with a man, it was about as bland as an unsalted cracker. Now, she realized she was able to really let her true colors shine.
“Jesus, Vikki…” Quinn moaned.
Vikki kissed down Quinn’s chest, stopping at her breasts. She looked up at Quinn, “I wanna take these off.” She flicked one of the tassels covering Quinn’s nipples, and pulled it off. And then the other one. She massaged Quinn’s bare breast and then moved her hand down her stomach, resting her hand right above where Quinn wanted it to be… needed it to be.
She teased Quinn by rubbing overtop her underwear, just light enough to make her squirm.
“Vikki, please. Please…”
Vikki kissed Quinn’s breast and sucked on her nipple, making Quinn moan much louder than she expected her to.
“God,” Vikki said, “You think I’m gorgeous? You should see yourself.”
“Shut up,” Quinn breathed, giggling softly.
Vikki quit teasing and shoved her hand beneath the waistband of Quinn’s underwear and moved her fingers like she would on herself. Slow circles. She could feel Quinn’s arousal, she could feel her chest heaving, could hear her whimpering and whining. She wanted more. She wanted to unravel this woman. She’d never wanted anything like she wanted this.
She sped up and Quinn gasped, clutching the cushion beneath her with a white knuckled fist. Vikki took that as a wonderful sign and kept speeding up, changing rhythms, soft, hard, light, rough.
“Vikki… aahhhh, my god. Please, Vikki.”
Vikki decided to try something that she had done on herself a few times, and she moved her fingers down and pushed two of them inside of Quinn, thrusting hard, still working her clit with her thumb.
Quinn moaned, almost screaming, “Oh, god! Ah-Oh my god! Ohhhhh…”
Quinn’s back arched off the couch and she shook, her legs wrapped around Vikki’s body, squeezing her tight. She covered her face with her hands, muffled moans escaping.
“Vikki…” Quinn said, breathlessly, “Jesus Christ… You are very, very good at that.”
“Why, thank you.”
“You’re sure you’ve never done it with a woman before?” Quinn joked.
“Mmmmm, I’m fairly certain,” Vikki blushed, and adjusted her bra strap.
She got up off of the sofa and sauntered over toward the vanities.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
“Getting a cigarette,” she shuffled through her purse and she could feel Quinn’s eyes on her. She popped her hip out to the side and heard a small “Mmm…” from across the room. She just adored teasing this woman.
Vikki placed a cigarette between her lips and and lit it. She took a puff and let out a deep exhale, looking into one of the mirrors and playing with her now tangled hair.
“That was just the best time I’ve ever had. I don’t think I’ve ever felt anything like that, Quinn, I mean it.”
“I hope you don’t think we’re finished…”
Vikki held her cigarette between her fingers, and glanced back over at Quinn, “…Really?”
“Come here.”
Vikki smiled a devilish smile, stamped her cigarette out in the ashtray on the vanity, and sauntered back over to the sofa, kneeling in front of Quinn. The other woman sat up and unclasped Vikki’s bra in one swift motion. She tossed it over with the other clothes on the floor, and said, “Lie back.
Vikki, impressed, raised her eyebrows and did as she was told. Quinn leaned over her and began pulling down her underwear. She spread Vikki’s legs apart and kissed her way up her thighs. The kisses didn’t last long though, as she made her way all the way up, and immediately licked from her entrance to her clit, making sure to linger there a little bit longer.
Vikki hummed in approval, letting out soft moans of pleasure. No man had ever done this for her. Missionary, yes. Most of time, actually. But this? This was definitely a first, and she was so far over the moon, she was dancing with the stars. This exact moment could last forever, if she had anything to say about it.
Quinn used her tongue in ways Vikki certainly never imagined one could. She went a little lighter for a moment and Vikki’s hips jerked reflexively, as she ached for as much contact, as much pressure as she could get.
Quinn dug her nails into Vikki’s slender thighs and scraped just a little bit, causing Vikki to gasp, and tense up. She reached up and massaged Vikki’s breast with her free hand, pinching at her nipple, effectively undoing the woman. Vikki was already incredibly turned on, so it didn’t take any time at all.
“Quinn, fuck. You’re gonna kill me.”
Quinn sped up, she could feel how close Vikki was to breaking.
“Oh, fuck, oh my- Oh my god… Quinn, fuck. Fuck.”
Quinn felt Vikki squeeze her thighs around her. Vikki felt as though she was about to explode, her body quivering, almost unable handle the intensity of what she was feeling. Quinn dipped her tongue inside and that was it. Vikki was gone.
She screamed out Quinn’s name, her hands gripping the other woman’s hair as though it were the only thing tethering her to the earth. She jolted, surged, feeling like her body was struck by 1000 volts. By lightning.
Quinn kept going until Vikki made her stop, and then she crawled up the length of the sofa to lay next to her. She held Vikki as she came down and kissed her, softly. An intimate kiss that lovers share. She brushed the hair out of Vikki’s face and cupped her cheek, and the two just lay there in the silence for a few moments. Soft breaths, the only sounds to be heard.
“You certainly are no princess,” Quinn whispered.
Vikki chuckled, softly, “You’re damn right.”
“Hey, the night’s still young. We can still meet the other girls at Lottie’s, if you’re in the mood.”
“That sounds like a gas, it really does, but… maybe we could just stay here for a while?”
“Maybe we could… go back to my place instead..?”
“I would love that.” Vikki smiled, her tongue between her teeth.
Quinn smiled back and then remembered, “Oh wait, don’t you have that breakfast meeting tomorrow morning?”
Vikki thought about it for a moment, “Mmmm. You know what? I think tomorrow morning I have to bring food to the homeless shelter, and help a child get their cat out of a tree.”
Quinn laughed.
“Well, darn, I guess I’ll just have to phone them and tell them I can’t make it.”
Vikki leaned over and kissed Quinn, then rested her head on her chest. She let her eyes close as Quinn played with her hair, and she melted into the other woman completely.
She lay there, breathing softly, thankful that Quinn had kissed her earlier. Thankful that she decided to take the leap and kiss her back. Hell, she was even thankful to Catcher Block! If he hadn’t put her through the mess that he did, she probably wouldn’t be here right now, completely comfortable with herself for the first time in a long time.
Quinn hugged her tightly and kissed the top of her head, and Vikki found herself looking forward to the rest of the night. Looking forward to tomorrow. Looking forward to forever, wherever it took her.
RULES
Tumblr media
MUTUALS ONLY:
this blog is highly selective/private & mutuals only for my own comfort. i’ve had some bad tumblr experiences in the past and i’d rather not have any more. i will only rp with you if you are 18+!!
NSFW THEMES:
gore and sexual content may appear on this blog, these themes will always be tagged as 'tw: nsfw'. similarly, any common triggers will also be tagged accordingly on the blog: 'tw: blood', etc. if you have any triggers or need something tagged, please just ask! i personally do not have any triggers that need to be tagged and if i do, i can filter them myself.
FOLLOWING // UNFOLLOWING:
if i follow you, i want to write with you! it also means i’ve taken the time to read over your rules and i hope you would do me the same courtesy. if i follow you and you do not follow back after about a week, i will respectfully unfollow.
DUPLICATES:
while i respect everyone’s individual portrayals, i tend to be a little self conscious about my portrayals. it’s a habit i am trying to break. if we’re good friends and get to talking ooc i am more willing to write with dupes. generally i am pretty okay with them.
CANON DIVERGENT:
i try and stay as true as i possibly can to any character's canon, however i am human and i do not agree with all canon scenarios that are portayed on screen. if there are any canon divergences with miroku, they will be noted further in their respective verses/info tab.
TRACKING // TAGGING:
tracking/tagging: yamisedai
TOXIC // NEGATIVE BEHAVIOR:
vagueposting, constant negativity untagged, or hate of any kind will get you unfollowed or blocked. i do not tolerate any kind of toxic behavior. if i see it? bye. accordingly, if you’ve broken any rules that i have listed here as well, that will also possibly result in a consequence of the same result.
OC FRIENDLY // SELECTIVE FANDOMLESS:
i’m open to different verses and aus with some characters that i know the fandoms of. however, this blog will only be within inuyasha majorly. THOUGH I LOVE OC’S! if you follow me, and i do not see my character and your character interacting/or if i have to do a lot of research on the fandom/character and it is hard to find the information on your blog/wiki, i may not follow back.
MULTI. - PARA. // NOVELLA:
i write single, semi, and multi para. sometimes i write novels hahah. sue me. but you never have to match my length! and if you have any issues with the length, just shoot me a message! you are also ALWAYS welcomed to shorten a reply if the threads are getting lengthy, all i ask is that you do give me something to work with.
THREAD FORMAT:
i am not big on aesthetics. i find it time consuming to edit replies with the little time i do have. i like my tiny text and one icon-- but if you don’t use any formatting or go the extra mile, i don’t mind! i am fine roleplaying in whatever context that you are, even if you don’t format at all! i do have astigmatisms in both my eyes. sometimes small text hurts to read. especially later in the evening, when i do most of my writing, but i can always zoom!
NO REBLOGS OF THREADS:
personals - do not reblog threads! you are welcome on this blog, feel free to like threads and posts, however if you reblog them, it messes with my notifications and makes it EXTREMELY hard to find things. I will usually give a warning once, after that i will block.
MAINS // EXCLUSIVES:
i do instill mains and exclusives. mains will take priority in threads/asks/etc. i will have around 2-4 of each canon character- a list will be added soon on the bonds tab! don’t be scared of the list! and if you’re interested in becoming a main, just shoot me a message to discuss it!
MUSE PORTRAYAL:
i do not own miroku or claim to own him! muse does not = mun! & i’m also not here for drama, politics, or ship wars-- just fun and creativity-- that’s all. anything that happens in character does not reflect me as the mun! miroku may be mad at your muse but i am not mad at you!
REMINDERS:
while they are fine, excessive pestering will also resort in a not happy vicki, i'll probably ask you to chill & if you don't, it will result in a block.
NO GOD-MODDING:
don’t godmod, powerplay, you know-- all that good stuff. if you have a concern you would like to address about myself or my blog, please come and speak with me. my dms and tumblr ims are always open.
RP ETIQUETTE:
i am not a meme or aesthetic source! i am very happy you like the content that i am posting on my blog, but please reblog from the SOURCE. it’s common courtesy and very much appreciated, not only from myself but many roleplayers!!!
MUN:
hi there! thank you so much for reading all of this! it really means a lot! my name is vicki, please just vicki--not vikki, viki, vicky, vickie, etc. the spelling of my name kinda bothers me since there are like a million of me in this world/it is my actual name and yes, i am very icky.
i’m 28, she/her, est, basically married & i work 40+ hrs a week as a banker. please be patient with me on work days! usually when i work i am only available in the evening. you can always find me on discord and tumblr ims for plots and chit chat though! if you do not already have my discord, please feel free to shoot me a message and ask. i'm not really one for drops on the dash or anything. i love making shit, even if i think i suck at it hahaha. if you ever need icons or screencaps, i am open to helping you out, if i have the time!!
this is not my only blog on tumblr! i am also pretty active within the star wars fandom, i have a multi where you can find more inuyasha muses & i have a rwby blog currently on hiatus. if i am not here, you can find me on those blogs!! if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask! thank you for taking the time to read this!! i truly appreciate it and you! <3
Hi Vikki! I saw that your requests are open and I decided to stop by, ehehe..~
Could I get Dee some headcanons from a Spanish girlfriend who loves calling him sweet, cute pet names in Spanish, including in front of his family? (Of course, only he and Glam would understand - In Glam's Q&A he answered a Question in Spanish, so he understands the language)
Love ur write! Kisses from Brazil! <3
Hi! Thank you for the kind words~ I always enjoy reading them =3
📚 Dee x fem!Reader headcanons Spanish nicknames📱
From the first day of your studies in the same class with Dee, you were considered very unusual due to the fact that you were born and lived in Spain for a long time. You tried to be polite and not be rude to your new classmates, but every time they annoyed you a lot, you talked about it in Spanish. There was still a sweet smile on your lips, but only Dee knew exactly what you were saying. When he laughed softly after your next sentence in Spanish, you realized that he understood what you were saying. That's what brought you closer together. You communicated in Spanish, getting to know each other better and better, eventually becoming a couple. Dee thought he really got to know you well, but even then you were able to surprise him
As it turned out, you really loved cute nicknames in your native language. You often called him "mi vida", "mi amor" or other cute words. None of your classmates understood exactly what you said and why Dee reacted like that, but he perfectly understood every word you said. He didn't say anything against it, because even though he was embarrassed, he liked it when you called him so warmly and tenderly. As if these nicknames were your shared secret
When Dee's parents invited you to dinner, he wasn't sure if it was a good idea. Initially, he was worried because it was the first time he would bring a girl home, but it wasn't until you came to his house that he realized he had another problem. His father, like him, knew Spanish. Dee really hoped that you wouldn't call him cute nicknames during dinner, but his hopes were dashed pretty quickly
Throughout the dinner, his face was constantly blushing due to the fact that you once again called him a cute nickname and his father's smile seemed to be getting wider. Dee knew that his father would remember this for a long time, but he decided not to think about it yet. Right now, he just wanted to have a good time with his family and girlfriend without worrying about what would happen later
Even though Dee didn't talk about it, he really liked it when you called him cute nicknames. It seemed to make you even closer than you were. Sometimes he would respond in kind, causing an embarrassed blush on your cheeks and a gentle smile on your lips. At such moments, he was really glad that he knew Spanish
The Anchor part 2
[part -- 1 ]      [Part -- 3 ]    [Part -- 4 ]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4,166 words yall I didn't mean for it to be this long
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ( Y/n POV )
I turned around, seeing Elena and Caroline staring at Jeremy and I. Then I saw what they were staring at my hand was still on Jeremys. I pulled my hand away from Jeremys. "Sorry." I said quietly. "There's no need to apologize. You didn't do anything wrong." Jeremy said. I looked back to see Elena and Caroline still staring at me. "Are they making you uncomfortable?" Jeremy asked looking at me then the girls. I was about to reply but Matt texted me. "I'm sorry I got to go get Matt. Do you need me to take you home or are you going with Elena?" I asked getting up and grabbing my jacket and bag. I laid the money for my meal and stuff on the table. "Its alright. Elena is taking me home but thanks for the ride over." Jeremy said hugging me.
( 3rd POV )
Y/n walked out to her truck. She drove to the school since practice was over. She got out and looked for Matt. She walked to the football field and Saw Matt and Tyler talking. "Hey Matt." Y/n said making her presents known. "Hey, (Your nickname)." Tyler greeted with a small wave and smile.  "Hey, Ty." Y/n replied with polite smile. "So Matty, Are you ready?" Y/n asked messing with the keys in her hand. "Yeah we have to give Tyler a ride home so I'm driving and your in the middle." Matt Said taking the keys out of his older sisters hand. "Okay." y/n replied with ease.  Tyler and Matt looked at each other with shock. Usually Y/n with fuss and groan. -She didn't really  seem to care for Tyler too much. He was nice sometimes, but other times he can be an asshole.  They all walked to the truck, but unlike what they thought Y/n jumped into the bed of the truck and sat down, a satisficed smile on her face as she sat down leaning her back on the cab of the truck. "Your unbelievable." Matt said getting in the truck with Tyler following suit.
The ride back was fine. Y/n liked riding on the back of the pickup. It made her feel normal. Other than seeing ghost all the freakin' time. They pulled up at Matt and Y/n's House which confused her but she got up and jumped off the bed of the truck. She walked up to the door and Unlocked the door. She walked to her room and sat down at her bed. She started to do her homework, Until Someone interrupted. TYLER. . . .
"Tyler What can I help you with?" I asked as I got off my bed and put my homework off my bed and on my desk. "Well I wanted to know if I could take up out to dinner sometime?  I asked Matt and he said he didn't care. So what do you say?" Tyler asked very hopeful.
- Its not that she didn't like Tyler, she just felt like he only wanted her for Sex or to make someone Jealous.  "Fine." I said as I laid on my bed. "So tomorrow after the game, I'll take you to the grill?" Tyler asked with a slight smile. "Yes I will see you tomorrow at school. I'll be at the game since my Brother play. So after the game is over you can take me out." She explained with a smile. Tyler nodded with a smile. "Alright, see you tomorrow." Tyler said leaving  with a smile. After I talked to Tyler I laid back on my bed and started to do my homework. After hours of torcher I finally finished.  I put my homework in my bookbag and got a shower.  After my shower I  got dressed In my PJs, did my night time routine and then went to bed. '~~~~~~~~' The next morning y/n woke up to her alarm clock ringing. With a groan she rolled over and hit the snooze button. She laid on the bed trying to go back to sleep, but it didn't work. It rung again and she  cut it off and went to my closet. She got dressed wearing a black V-neck t shirt, Black skinny jeans, her converses and her jean jacket. After she got dressed she washed her face and brushed her teeth. Then braided her hair into a Dutch braid. She smiled after she was done, she grabbed her  phone, charger, and bookbag with all her school work and papers, then went down stairs to get her breakfast.
"Moring (Your eye color)." Matt said mentioning (Eye color) eyes. y/n smiled grabbing a apple from the small yellow bowl off the table. "Morning Matty." Y/n  replied taking a bite of the sweet apple, sitting at the table as he fixed his food.  "So what do you have practice tonight?" Matt nodded as he took his eggs out of the pan, putting them on the glass plate. "Yeah, I do. I also have a game tonight, so you have to be there." Matt said looking Y/n with a stern look. "Fine." I said with a smile. "So how are you? You know since Vikki left?" Matt asked looking at y/n with a concerned look while starting on his eggs.  "I'm okay." She lied. -I'm not okay honestly. How can you be okay if you don't even know what happen to your sister?  How can I be okay when I seen my only sister and she told you she was dead? How do you tell your brother your sisters dead? "Really? Look I know its hard with her leaving and stuff, but you should move on. You know, maybe she didn't want to be here. I mean look at mom, she left us, she hasn't came back in a long time too. She'll show back up eventually." Matt said looking at his little sister with a sad smile. Y/n looked at her brother as tears formed in her eyes. "I miss her, Matty." Y/n said honestly.
She hated crying, she truly did. She always thought she had to be strong. She always thought she had to put on a show, instead of showing what she was really feeling. . sad. Like all the time. Which is why she turned to drugs when Vikki was there. (And if she's gonna be honest she still did drugs. She just didn't tell Matt that). She thought the drugs would make her feeling better, and they did. They made her feel happy. The only time she was happy without the drugs was with Jeremy, and that was if he wasn't chasing Vikki around like a lost puppy.
Matt nodded as he pulled his sister into a hug. "Its alright. I miss her too. " He said as he held her. He felt horrible that he couldn't say when Vikki would be back. He knew Y/n and Vikki were close. They worked together and hung out together, even though they were a couple years age difference between the two sisters. "Everything's gonna be alright, She'll be back once she get hungry."  Matt said with a chuckle, making y/n sniff and giggle. "She's never going too far. She loves me too much." Y/n scoffed hitting her brother on her shoulder. "You too I guess." He joked as she pulled back from him.
"Okay, I know we're having a Brother sister moment, but if we don't go to school we'll be late." Matt said as he pulled away, giving his baby sister a smile. "Yeah, I cant be late anymore. They told me if was that id go to ISS (in school suspension, if yall didn't know)." Y/n said as she looked at her brother. "We just started school a month ago." Matt said looking at Y/n shocked. "How?" He questioned as he grabbed his bookbag. "Well, Jeremy and I skipped school for a little while." She mumbled as she looked down at her feet. "What were you and Jeremy doing for that little while?!" Matt raised his voice, getting into older protective brother mode. "Nothing too bad. We went out to the falls and hung out. Drank some beer, talked, may or may not have took some stuff Vikki gave us, but I promise it was only like twice." Y/n said looking at her brother. "I thought you said you stopped." Matt said looking at his sister. "I have, that was literally at the beginning of school." Y/n answered her brother with a innocent smile. "I cant deal with you." Matt said shaking his head with a smile. "Lets go, punk." He said grabbing the keys from the table. Y/N nodded throwing the apple core into the trash. She grabbed her book bag and followed Matt out to the truck.
Once they got into the truck they made their way to the school. It was a comfortable silence as they drove 15 minutes down the road to the school. Once they got there they went their separate ways. Y/n went to find Jeremy and Matt was going to find Tyler. She walked out of the car lot and to the tall oak tree in the front, right where she seen Jeremy sitting by himself on his phone.
"Hey Jeremy." Y/n said sitting down beside him. "Hey Y/n." He said with a smile, putting his phone down. "How are you?" Y/n asked with a smile sitting her book bag in the table beside them. "I'm alright, have you stopped?" He asked looking at Y/n with a knowing look. "The drugs?" Y/n whispered looking at him confused. He nodded looking at her with a worried look. "Yeah, I've stopped so far. I've been trying to stay strong. I don't know how you do it." Y/n said with a chuckled shaking her head. "I don't know, but if you need someone. I'm here for you. You know that right?" He asked looking at her with a smile. "Yeah, I know." She said giving him a friendly smile. "We better get going if we don't want to be late for class." Y/n said as she heard the bell ring. Jeremy nodded grabbing his book bag. Y/n grabbed hers and the two walked to their classes.
Later on that day Y/n walked out of the school with her bookbag looking for Matt. She needed the truck keys that he had. So she walked out to the football field where he and a few other guys off the football team were talking. She  walked over to them and stood quietly while they talked. She was different from matt. She was more quiet and a bit introvert then matt. Sure he was quiet at times, but she was actually really quiet compared to him. She was more to herself then him.
Once Matt was done talking to the guys he, Tyler and I started talking. "How was practice?" Y/n asked as she leaned against the bleachers. "It was good, did you know Elenas boyfriend did football?" Tyler asked looking at Y/n with a shocked looking before looking over at Matt. "Yeah, I seen him in the court yard the other day. Quite an arm he has on him." Y/n said with an nod. "Any way, the game isn't for a while and I want to go home before the game. So are you going home with me or what?" Matt asked looking at Y/n. "I was planning on going to the Grill right after I came to you." Y/n spoke looking at her brother. "Well, you can go. If you want I can drop you off." Matt offered looking at Y/n. "Alright." Y/n said looking at him with an nod. "But you have to be at the game where I can see you. Remember what happen last time?" He said looking at Y/n with a smirk. "What happen last time?" Tyler asked looking at the two Donovan's.
 "The last game, My poor, sweet, baby sister decided to she was going to take the truck on a little ride with a few of her friends." Matt said looking at Tyler and then to Y/n. "That doesn't seem so bad." Tyler spoke looking at Matt with unsure face. "Well, when they go a couple hours away and decided they wanted to get drunk that's something different. Y/n looked at her brother and rolled her eyes. "No, that's what Vikki told you. Tyler you were there. You were drunk, but there.  It was literally, Vikki, Jeremy, Tyler, Sarah and me. We went out to the falls which is thirty minutes away. I was sober and I was making sure nobody was not going to have alcohol poisoning." Y/n said looking at Matt with a serious look. "Oh right. Your right. I remember I busted that party. Yeah I remember when I got there you had left. You had took Jeremy home and Vikki was there with Tyler drunk." Matt said with a nod. "I don't remember this." Tyler said looking at Y/n with a serious look. "Man, you were well beyond drunk." Y/n said looking at Tyler with a laugh. He gave Y/n a flirty smile and Y/n blushed.
"Lets go. I need a shower." Matt said looking at Y/n and Tyler. "Oh, I didn't know Tyler was coming." Y/n spoke as they started walking to the truck. "Yeah, I thought I told you." Matt said as he and Tyler threw their football stuff in the bed of the truck. "No, you didn't." Y/n said as she got in the middle seat of the truck. "Well, you know now, princess." Tyler said with a smile. "I'm not a princess." Y/n said looking at Tyler with a smirk. "What are you then?" He asked looking at her as she smiled. "A mother fucking queen." She said making Matt and Tyler laugh. "Okay, Queen Y/n." Tyler said with a smile.
After a few minutes Matt and Tyler dropped Y/n off at the grill. She sat in one of the empty booths and ordered her food. As she was enjoying her food she seen someone walk up to her. Looking at them she seen Stefan standing there with a smile. "Hey, Y/n." Stefan said with a friendly smile. "Hi, Stefan, right?" Y/n asked looking at Elenas new boyfriend. "Yeah, may I join you?" He asked pointing to the empty seat in front of her. She nodded with a friendly smile. "Go ahead." She said with a polite smile.
After a few minutes of casual small talk Stefan slowly brought up Vikki. "So I heard you saw Vikki, How is she?" Stefan asked taking a sip of his soda. "She's umm. . She's fine." Y/n lied not making contact before she took a sip of her drink. She honestly didn't want to tell Stefan her sister was dead, before she had told her own brother. "I feel like your lying." He said lowly as he leaned forwards. Y/n looked at him with a confused look. "Well, I'm not. I don't mean to be rude, but I need to get back to the school. Matt dropped me off so I need to be going." Y/n said putting some money to cover her food and tip onto the table. "Nice, talking to you Stefan." She said as she started to walk out the door.
Y/n walked out the door and was starting to walk through the parking lot when Stefan called out her name. "Y/n, do you want me to give you a ride? I have to be there too. I'm playing tonight." Stefan offered pointing to his red ford sports car. "Sure, Thanks." She said with a small smile.
The ride to the school was quiet between the two. Y/n planed on telling Matt about Vikki tonight after the game. She couldn't  deal with not letting him Know. They pulled up to the school. "Thanks for the ride Stefan, Good luck with the game." Y/n said getting as they went different ways. "Thanks, if you hear from Vikki let me know." He said looking at Y/n. She looked at him confused as she started to speak. "Not to be rude, but Stefan why do you want to know about Vikki? Did you know her?" Y/n asked just out of curiosity, not even in a rude way. "She seemed nice, and I just seen where she disappeared out of nowhere. I just know she doesn't seem like that type of person." Stefan said looking at Y/n with a concerned look. "Oh, well I'll let you know if anyone has spoke to her." Y/n said with a nod going to find a good spot for the barn fire that they do before the game.
At the end of the game when everyone was leaving She found Matt and was on their way to the truck when she heard Jeremy yelling. Her and Matt ran over to the yelling and saw Tyler and Jeremy fighting. "Are you wasted?" Tyler asked looking at Jeremy? Jeremy got made and shoved Tyler then the two started fighting. That's when Jeremy picked up a broken glass bottle and went to hit Tyler with it. But Stefan stopped him. It looked like it would have cut his hand. "Y/n, Matt can you take Jeremy home for me?" Elena asked looking at Y/n and Matt. "Sure." Y/n said quickly going up to Jeremy and grabbed his hand. "Your gonna help the drug addict?" Tyler asked looking at Y/n. "I guess it takes one to know one." Tyler said looking at Y/n. Y/n let go of Jeremy's hand and went over to Tyler. She looked him in the eye and smiled. Then she took her hand and punched him straight in the jaw, hard enough it made him stumble backwards. "next time you say something about me. I swear you better have life insurance." Y/n threaten as she grabbed Jeremys hand and walked to the truck. matt decided he was going to be riding home with Tyler in Tyler's car.
"I cant believe you punched him." Jeremy laughed as Y/n got him into the truck. "I've been wanting to do that for a while." Y/n said with a smile. "Have you told them about Vikki?" Jeremy asked as Y/n got into the drivers seat. "No, but I'll tell him when I get home." Y/n said looking at Jeremy with a smile. "You know, you have really pretty eyes." Jeremy said looking at Y/ns (Your eye colors) eyes. "Your drunk, jer." Y/n said as she started the truck. "Its true. I knew it before I was drunk. You have always been pretty, even when we were little kids. I've always thought you were beautiful." Jeremy said with a smile. "I still think its the drunk you speaking." Y/n said as she started going down the highway. "I swear, I really do mean it. I like you. Like, Like you, Like you." He admitted truthfully. Y/n chuckled as she glanced over at him. "Tell me that when your sober." Y/n said with a smile.
 - She likes him to, but she just didn't want him just to be saying that because he was drunk. If he was really into her, then she wants him to mean it. Y/n looked at him and smile as she pulled into their drive way. "You're home, jer." Y/n said as she looked at Jeremy who was just staring outside of the truck. "Will you walk me in?" Jeremy asked looking at Y/n with a smile. She nodded with a smile. "Yeah, come on." She said with a smile. He nodded as he opened the truck door. "Come on big guy." Y/n said as Jeremy started stumbling. Y/n giggled as she put his arm around hers and started walking to the house. She looked at him and sighed. "House keys." She said looking at Jeremy. "In my pocket." he said as he pulled them out of his front pockets. he handed them to Y/n as she still held onto him. She unlocked the door and put the keys into her pocket, continued to help him up to his room.
As she struggled to get the teenager that's bigger than her up the stairs to his room, she felt tired. "Jeremy, you need to take off your shoes before you get on the bed." She said as Jeremy started to lay on the bed. He huffed and sat up throwing his shoes off, putting them beside his bed. He laid up and the bed and sighed. "Thank you." he told her with a smile. She nodded as she smiled. "That's what a friend is for." She said as she sat beside him on the bed. "Will you stay with me? Just till I go asleep? I just don't want to be alone." Jeremy said as he started getting choked up. "Of course." she whispered. She stood up taking her shoes off and walked over to Jeremys draws. she grabbed one of his shirts and his sweat pants. She went to the bathroom and changed into them. When she went back into the room from changing Jeremy was in the bed with just sweat pants on and shirt less.
She pulled back the covers and laid right beside him. Jeremy faced her before he chuckled pulling her into him. "This brings back memories." Y/n said with a smile. "Good ones I hope." he said with a smile. "They are. It reminds me of when we were little when we did little sleep overs. We would just hang out and play video games." She said with a smile. "And we cuddled." He said with a smile. "yeah that too." Y/n said as she looked into his puppy brown eyes. He smiled looking into her eyes, then glanced at her lips then back to her eyes. "I really want to kiss you." he whispered. She nodded as she looked at him. She didn't say do or say anything but leaned forwards, giving him just a small kiss. "Goodnight." she said putting her head on his chest. "Goodnight." He said closing his eyes.
A couple hours later her phone rang. -Matt was calling her. "Hello?" She asked  lowly as she stepped out of the bedroom. "where are you at?!" Matt yelled at his sister. "I'm at Jeremys." She answered. "Well, you need to come home." he said with a strict voice. "Alright, I'm on my way." She huffed rolling her eyes. "See you when you get here." Matt said hanging up the phone. She walked back into Jeremys room writing him a small note. Telling him she would come by in the morning to check on him. She grabbed her clothes and changed back into them putting the clothes she wore back where they belong. She started going down the stairs when Elena walked in looking like she was freaking out.
"Elena, are you okay?" She asked quietly, not to wake anyone up. "Yeah, I'm fine. Is Jeremy in his room?" Elena asked. "Yeah, I got to go. Matt called me sounded a little mad." y/n said as she pointed out the door. "He just wants to make sure your safe I'm sure." Elena said looking at Y/n. Y/n nodded as she looked at Elena. "thank you for watching out for Jeremy. I appreciated it." Elena said hugging Y/n. "He is my best friend. Its my job." Y/n said with a smile.   So Y/n got in the truck and went back to her house. Where Matt and Tyler were talking on the front porch.  "What's wrong?" Matt asked looking at his sister. "Well you know how I believe I can see ghost." Y/n said as she sat on the porch swing. "Yes, but I really don't think you can see ghost I think its just your imagination." Matt said leaning against the wall beside Tyler. "Well anyway umm... Matt.... I saw Vikki." Y/n said quietly. "You saw Vikki?" Tyler said with a hopeful smile. "Yeah, But Matt Vikki died." Y/n said with a sad look on her face. "Your just think that (Your nickname, You probably just dreamed that or you strung up on more drugs.." Tyler said with all seriousness. He didn't want to believe that his Ex girlfriend was dead.
"But the thing is she really is dead. She was attacked I saw her she came to me and told me she was dead. She told me to look out for you. Because there was bad stuff in this town." Y/n tried to get them to believe her but the look on their faces told her all she needed to know. "Fine you don't have tp believe me." Y/n said getting off the tail gate and started to walk home. Ignoring the calls of Tyler and Matt who were calling her name. She didn't want them to tell her she was crazy that she was just imagining seeing Vikki.
She was walking when she felt someone grabbed her. Then everything went black...
FMA fanfic recs - gen
Hey, here’s a list of FMA fanfics I read and liked basically. This list is gen, which means only fics without romance or at least where it’s not the focus. These are FMA 2003 fics because that’s what I read. (Though a few might be compliant to both canons.) These are in no particular order.
 Wooden by Tobu Ishi
This is a one-shot, 1928 words. Takes place post episode 51, pre-cos (Written before it came out, I think.) Just a short instrospective fic about Ed trying to get used to his new life and difficulties.
 One Foot in by Firewind
Chilling fic. 7008 words. Have the summary:  Envy shows Ed why it's unwise to break a deal with homunculi.
Night at the Pound by Tramontana Keeper
Strange story for sure. 14708 words. It’s three chapters long but I’m mostly reccing the first 2 chapters. It’s kind of dark but in a sad way. Alphonse is the PoV. Some EdxWin but its not the focus.
Abstention by Absidian
11117 words. Features Ed struggling and a sympathetic armoured Al who is the point of view. Summary:  An assignment to snow country under Colonel Mustang is bad enough for the damper it puts on the Elrics' search for the Stone, but downed supply lines lead to cut rations, and Ed discovers that he can't take the deprivation as well as he'd like to pretend.
Ignis Fatuus by Mikkeneko
5787 words. Summary:  Edward attempts to break apart a chimera made from an animal and a child.
Fullmetal's Company by Roseveare
Lovely adventure story! 17500 words. Takes place when Ed’s only 13 and in this story he gets his first taste of a warzone and what being a State Alchemist can mean.
From Ashes by Jordanna Morgan
22864 words. 10 chapters long. Takes place in the year between the human transmutation and Ed and Al leaving Risembool. Ed and Al centric of course. Very lovely story which has basically become my personal headcanon. My favourite part is where Ed chooses his iconic outfit.
Roughing it by Jordanna Morgan
This author wrote a lot of fics and here’s another I’m very fond of. 8 chapters and 40k words. As well as Ed and Al, it also majorly features Hughes and Roy. They all go on a camping trip that kind of goes wrong. Shows Hughes trying to be caring to the boys and great interactions all round.
The Circle by Elfpen
This is actually a Brotherhood fic of all things. 3007 words. Takes place post-series with Ed as an alchemy professor.
Fragile Worlds by The Prettiest Frog in the Pond
5635 words. It’s not good unless it’s a little dark, right? Summary:  He'd been stuck in this place for months now, but no matter what he says, nothing changes. He's Edward Elric. He's been Edward Elric all his life. So why won't they believe him?
Responsibility by runespoor7 1100 words. This hidden gem is an awesome character study of Ed and Al’s relationship. Guilt-ridden Ed is the best kind of Ed, right?
A Hangover You Do Deserve by Cryogenia
1978 words. Takes places post series but pre-CoS. Heidrich tries to get Ed open up about his past. Humourish piece.
Left-handed by Vikki.
Short, 572 words long. Winry musing on Ed’s handwriting.
I Saw Them In Her Eyes by Sholio
3763 words. Roy-centric of all things. Takes place during episode 3, and features Mustang’s guilt over the Ishval war.
Make Gold of this by Pellaz
This fic takes places not very long after the transmutation and Ed and Al are trying to deal with things. 3135 words long.
Only Family by Mikkeneko
Another by this author who’s written a lot. 1971 words. Angsty. Summary:  A man and his son out on a simple shopping trip. What's wrong with this picture?
Sweet Dreams by Girl_starfish
It’s 11 chapters long, I’m not sure what the overall word count is. Features Ed, and recovery. Incredibly readable and sort of sad but hopeful. (There’s some Minor Ed/Roy).
------------------
That’s all my recs for now. There’s a ton of other great fics around though. If nothing else, check out some of these authors other works. I might update this list again at some point for the record. If anyone has any recs to share with me then please do! Romance stories are completely acceptable, That would be its own separate rec list. Please tell me if you’d be interested in more fma fic recommendations.
The Day My Daughter Died.. (An introduction to the end and the beginning)
I received a phone call from my daughter's best friend, Alli, at about 2:30pm on that day. She told me that she had just left work and was on her way to my daughter's house, after receiving a frantic phone call from my daughter's roommate, Kenneth, who said that he had come home and found her unconscious, with a needle in her hand. He had called an ambulance, he had attempted CPR, and was now waiting outside of the house while the emergency personnel did their thing inside.
I think it was already pretty well established that my daughter was gone, and I think that this was probably communicated to me, but my brain literally wouldn't grasp it. I wasn't devastated; I was terrified. I spent the entire conversation (which was probably at least 20 minutes long) thinking that we didn't know anything yet, feeling like I was frozen, like everything around me was happening in slow motion, and that I was just holding my breath until the moment when Alli could finally get to the house and someone could tell us what was going on. I thought we were waiting to hear that she'd been trànsported or something. It honestly hadn't occurred to me until just now that simply knowing that Kenneth had attempted CPR should have been enough information to answer to the only question that was looping through my mind, over and over, until Alli arrived. "Is she breathing?"
I was 4 hours away, in another city.
Once Alli arrived, there were people everywhere; policemen, emergency responders, tons of neighborhood spectators, and Kenneth, the roommate. I was still on the phone, waiting, while he and Alli had a brief conversation, which I couldn't really hear and I finally interrupted to ask what I thought we'd been waiting to find out this whole time.. "But.. is she still breathing?"
At that point, I heard Alli take a deep breath and, very slowly, and with such pain, she said the words that made it real.
"No, Stephanie. She's gone."
I remember taking a deep breath and saying, "Okay."
It almost felt like, "Well.. Here we are. This is actually happening. You know, that thing that happens to other people, but not your child, not you? It's happening. Right now."
Another deep breath, and once again, " Okay.. "
I remember thinking that I needed to hold it together somehow, because I was going to have to handle and figure out a lot of things, and I really, really needed to be able to think. I just had to think. Figure this all out somehow, as if it were a problem that could be solved.
I did what I've always done when I need to call upon an extreme coping skill. I stopped feeling, and I started thinking. Intellectualizing, my therapist, Becca, the one from my daughter's first treatment center, used to call it.
I called upon that skill in that moment. Think. Think about what other people are going through, feeling, experiencing. Think about how everyone else feels, so you don't have to look at what this really is. Don't even get close to it.
That is the moment that I apologized to Alli for having to be the one to make such a horrible phone call, telling someone's mother that they are dead, and thanked her for being that person, at the same time. I thanked her for being a good friend. I told her I loved her. Said I'd be available for the police or whoever needs to speak to next of kin, and told her to give them my number.
I called my boyfriend first, in a panic; I had to get home, I had to get to Houston, and I had to get there NOW. I couldn't drive, and all I could think was how I needed to get there, I had to get there, and I needed to get there NOW. No answer.
I called my ex-husband (not the father of my daughter, but of two sons, ages 15 and 18, at the time) and, not realizing that the boys were in the car with him or that he had answered on speaker, I started screaming that my daughter was dead, she was dead, and I didn't know what to do. Of course, after finding out that the boys had overhead, I called both of them to apologize that they had had to hear me like that, to hear the news that way.
I don't remember very much of the next few weeks. The things I do remember are choppy, like random scenes from a movie, but I remember those things vividly.
I realized that I had to tell people. Who? Who is the first person you call to announce your daughter's death?
I called my mom first, I think, and I listened to her sob and repeat, "Noooo..." over and over.
I called my daughter's other grandmother, on her father's side, and I listened as she cried and kept saying, "Oh my god.."
I called my daughter's ex-boyfriend, Javi, the father of my granddaughter, who was 8 at the time, and he couldn't believe it, couldn't accept it, either; jumped in his car to go over there. I guess he needed to see it with his own eyes.
I spoke to another of my daughter's best friends, Jessica (she happened to text me, so I thought she already knew, and when I realized that she didn't, I told her to call me. She asked me, "How bad is it?" I said, "Bad."), and then she, too, immediately drove over to the house to meet up with Alli, Kenneth, and Javi.
I couldn't listen to any more breaking hearts at the moment, so as fucked up as it seems now, I just started texting people.
I texted my friend, Sarah, who, along with her entire family, have been like family to us. I don't even know how I said it. I think I said, "I'm so sorry to tell you like this, but they found her this morning, unconscious, with a needle, and she didn't make it. " Sarah immediately called me, and started screaming, " What? What? " as if she couldn't hear me. Her mind, too, couldn't seem to allow this to be real.
I spoke to my friends, Theresa and Joie, sisters, and they immediately offered all kinds of practical help that hadn't even occurred to me, such as setting up a GoFundMe account to pay for funeral expenses. I had been laid off from my job of over ten years several months prior, and so all of the life insurance policies and everything I'd been so used to just having were no longer available, and I had nothing.
Joie also posted on Facebook on my behalf. It was the only way I could think of to let everyone know, especially my daughter's friends, and it was because of all of these people, and so many more, that I have managed to get through this last year.
I don't know what I did to deserve such wonderful people in my life, but I am surrounded by them. The GoFundMe account reached over $5000 within a couple of days.
My daughter's best friend from middle school is a hair and makeup artist, and she flew in from Colorado to make sure that she was the one who did the makeup for the viewing. That was always their thing, and even though my daughter's addiction had driven them apart over the years, Vikki had to do this one last thing for her friend, and I was happy to have her do it.
Sarah's ex-boyfriend, who knew my daughter as a child, took care of all of the flowers and arrangements.
Sarah's mom has a friend who was able to make a dress for my daughter to wear during the viewing; an Alice in Wonderland dress, because that was always her thing.
Sarah and her mom had already found the cheapest most decent funeral home that they knew of (her mom had used the place for her own mother's service), so I literally spent the next few days just having to answer yes and no questions.
It turned out that since my daughter never divorced the father of her second child (my grandson, Isaac, who was almost 7 at the time), even though they'd been separated and out of contact for a few years (she was engaged to someone else for at least a year), he was her next of kin, not me, and this brought forth a whole host of issues. He doesn't raise their son, his mother does, because he is either 1) insane, 2) brain damaged from drug use, 3) currently using drugs, or 4) a combination of all of the above. These things made the entire process very difficult for me.
They tried to dictate who could be invited to the funeral, which I wasn't on board with. They threatened me by saying that they would have her body transferred to the funeral home of their choosing and they would let me know when and where to show up. They said I could not have any locks of her hair. They said they would not split up her ashes. They even dictated to me that she be cremated, because they somehow knew (having only known her for a few years, and not knowing her at all, really, for the few years prior to her death) that she wanted to be cremated and that she wanted her ashes spread over the ocean.
I won't ever be able to understand why someone would treat the mother of a dead child the way that they treated me, but I've just added them to the list of people I'll have to figure out how to forgive somehow, eventually.
Everyone showed up for us, and I was so grateful for the presence of every single one of them. People I hadn't seen or spoken to in years, such as my ex-husband's ex-boss's ex-wife, lol.
I placed a son for adoption when I was 19, and though I had met him in person once, he and my other kids had not met. He and my daughter had been talking a lot on social media, and he had planned to come visit and meet everyone in May, after he graduated college, but ended up coming in April for her funeral, instead. He never even got to hear her voice.
There is so much I want to use this blog for. I want to document my own journey through this grief. I want to talk about addiction and help destigmatize the way people view addicts. I want to offer resources and maybe even hope. And I want to remember my daughter.
Her name was Jade. She was 26 years old when she died. She was one of the funniest, coolest, most creative, beautiful people you could have ever known. Yes, the addiction was a part of her journey, her struggle, but she was more than that. And I intend to honor ALL of who she was, by speaking the truth.
The truth is that she died from the toxic effects of an accidental overdose of heroin and methamphetamine. But that's just one part of her story, and mine, and I need to tell them both, even if no one ever reads a single word I type. I need to tell these stories.
Since I started with her death, here is a photo recap of what there is to know so far:
This Week in BL
March 2021 Part 1
Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs.
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series Thai
Lovely Writer Ep 2 - the sound engineer should be canned, otherwise, it’s good. Made me smile and also wince in embarrassment. I like the sinister underpinning Kao is bring to his role. Ended ep 2 on a nice kiss, pacing for the win. Reminds me a lot of early Japanese live action yaoi (AKA the first BL) but that could be the cartoon noises. However, if Gene gets a nosebleed...  Also, lots of tropes: boyfriend claiming, domesticity, lip touch, and a whole discussion on language. (Which made me VERY happy.)
Brothers Ep 5 - my boys got a bit more screen time but it’s still rough going, definitely getting slightly better but it started real low so... basically I continue to watch so you don’t have too.
1000 Stars Ep 6 - solid episode, the tension is ramping up and it looks like we get forced proximity in the next episode so that’ll be fun.
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series Not Thai
You Make Me Dance (Korea) Ep 3-4 - such a clever little show, a bit cold, but unbelievably strategic with its tropes, this one is SMART.
We Best Love 2 (Taiwan) Ep 1 - this show might actually kill me, partly because the tension is REAL (we can’t trust Taiwan to end anything properly). I can’t believe I’m putting myself through 6 episodes of this. But I already can’t wait for next week, so it’s doing its job. Gotta give them props for sheer GUT WRENCHING execution of a thin af narrative. Why Taiwan? WHY?!
Tumblr media
Stand Alones
To My Star (movie version) - it’s on Vikki behind the paywall, clocking in at 2 hours that means they added at least 20 min of content. I haven’t seen it show up ripped yet, but I hope to have seen by next week.
