If people want me to believe that grimm that isn’t even the same species as her is somehow Summer Rose, they’re going to have to give a pretty convincing argument for why she would attack her own daughter and particularly why the writers would create such a dramatic moment and not do anything with it, not even a moment of hesitation or recognition from the grimm to pay off with the reveal later.

#rwby spoilers #rwby v8 spoilers #i feel like people literally just don't think of yang as summer's daughter #so they aren't thinking about how much that doesn't make any sense??? #it would be TERRIBLE writing in my opinion on multiple levels #if salem can de evolve and also evolve and also mutate people cross species #(not just combine grimm elements with human elements as she did with cinder) #and also maybe mind control them no matter what their original species #all while being unkillable #after a while you cut out all narrative tension if you make your bad guy that op because nothing the heroes do matters in the face of that #but it's also bad writing to set up a dramatic moment between mother and daughter and not actually include ANY suggestion that's happening #you'd at least expect the framing to emphasize it more if that was the case #like i get that the idea is all red riding hood theme stuff but on every other level it just doesn't make any sense to me? #i hope this doesn't sound defensive i just don't even know where this reasoning is coming from #i really really don't want this to be rude which is why i didn't want to put it in the main tag #i just hate the idea that the writers wouldn't acknowledge the importance of yang and summer in each other's lives AT ALL #that feels like it would be such a clumsy retcon of a scene we just saw to be like #''there was something else going on here and we NEVER hinted at it AT ALL.'' #rwby
