You open your car door once the taxi pulls up outside of the bar, you step out the cool air wrapping around your body making you shiver. You walk towards the bar door, show your id and enter. You scan the area for Tangerine and Lemon, you spot them in a booth and approach them.

“Hi!” You sit down beside Tangerine. Lemon on his other side.

“Hi love.” Tangerine replies, passing you a drinks menu. Your attempt to hide the blush of your cheeks by looking intensely at your menu.

You pick your drink, vodka cranberry and Lemon goes to the bar to order. Tangerine asks you about work whilst Lemon gets the drinks, you go off on a slight rant about your boss who very clearly overworked you because no one else was as dedicated as you were to rising up the ranks. You were a starting out art designer and this was your first firm placement. Tangerine just listened, that’s what you liked about him. He never told you to shut up when you rambled on about anything, he listened and responded with exactly what you needed to hear every time.

Lemon returned, gave you your drink and settled back down on his seat.

“So why didn’t either of you let me know you were leaving the city for a week?” You raise an eyebrow whilst eyeing them suspiciously.

“It was last minute work stuff,” shrugged Lemon.

“What did you have to go on a super secret mission to kill the Mafia or something,” you tease.

“Not the Mafia but something like that.” Tangerine says casually. You still couldn’t believe their jobs, you definitely should’ve been scared of them but you’ve know them for a long time, enough time to trust them with your life.

“And we found our Diesel,” Lemon says. You laugh at how proud he looked. “Right under our noses the entire time, playing us like fools.”

“Only time it’s ever been beneficial.” Tangerine mumbles.

“So you admit that it isn’t childish and stupid.” Lemon responses.

“It is childish and stupid. I’m sick of hearing about it,” Tangerine grumbled, finishing his drink.

“Oh come on Tan, it does no harm.” You nudge him. He just rolls his eyes at you, “you’re so grumpy. Lighten up.”

He just shakes his head, but you see him crack a smile. It makes you smile in return, you couldn’t be more of an opposite from Tan, he was a little grumpy and sometimes too serious. And you were the opposite, you were too friendly and extremely spontaneous. You talked he listened, he was neat you were all over the place at times, he was calm and you were lively. But somehow that was literally everything, and Lemon was the glue that held you all together. He was the perfect mix between them both and your metaphorical partner in crime (Tangerines literal one).

However you knew that a few drinks made Tangerine much chirpier and that you used to your advantage. So now you all sit absolutely wasted at the bar, Lemon orders the fourth shot. The three of you finish another shot, then just order a drink. The bar around you was busy and lively, the music was pumping through your veins and you felt electric.

You were mid conversation with the guys when you hear some intense ranting. A man is giving off about the bartender yet no one is listening, which just urges him to continue.

“Oi. Can you hurry the fuck up and take my order,” his voice fumes from behind you.

“I’ll be with you in one minute I’m serving a customer.” The bartender responds.

“I told you to take my fucking order. Are you stupid?”

You turn around in an instant to the source of the demands, you make eye contact with him and he just scoffs at you. “And she told you to wait a minute.”

“Who the fuck was talking to you?”

“Oh get over yourself. Piss off and leave her alone, it’s busy in here just wait.”

The man only ignores you and turns back to the bartender. “I swear to fucking god you’re such a useless bitch. I want a drink, so hurry the fuck up.”

“Please let me sort this couple out first.”

You stand up and come to face like him, you were livid by the vermin he was speaking. “You’re the ridiculous one here. She told you she’s busy! Just fucking get out you dickhead!” You shouted. He crossed his arms, trying to assert power in the situation.

Tangerine and Lemon both instantly turn around to look at what’s going on, Lemon was extremely taken aback by your confidence but he was impressed. But Tangerine was fascinated, he had never seen you riled up before.

“Im sure they care a lot more than watching a shallow waste of space cry because he’s not the top priority.”

“You fucking bitch.”

“Oh my god she’s brilliant.” Tangerine says, completely starstruck. Lemon only nods in agreement. They couldn’t believe the fire you had inside of you, it was so intense. The man you were arguing with looked threatened, but he couldn’t accept defeat.

“That’s rich coming from you sitting there with two men, like a fucking whore. Look at you,” he looks you up and down, you suddenly feel extremely self conscious of your outfit, even though it was barely showing cleavage. “You look like a fucking prostitute.”

You don’t even take a moment to think and before you knew it your fist collided with his nose, sending him to the ground. People watched in shock, no one not even you knew what just happened it was all so sudden.

Tangerines mouth falls open, as he watches everything go down. There was something about seeing you like this that made everything click. “Fucking hell I love her.” He says, dead serious yet dazed.

Lemon does a double take and stares at Tangerine. “What?” He looks at you, prouder than ever but knew him and Tan needed to get you out of the bar before the man attacks you.

They both speedily usher you out and the three of you sit curb side outside the bar.

“What the fuck just happened,” Lemon floundered, you shake your head in response. You anger was settling and you were just calming down.

“If I see that bastard I’ll tear his fucking head off,” Tangerine says, you could tell he was mad, rightfully so considering what the man had said to you.

“I’ll vouch to that.” You respond.

Lemon inspected your hand of which you used to punch him. Your knuckles were swollen and inflamed.

“I’ll go get you ice.” Lemon goes off to get ice, leaving you and Tangerine.

You look up at the sky admiring the stars, they were one of your favourite sights and looking at them always grounded you. The alcohol was slowly wearing off, leaving you just over tipsy.

“Sorry for not setting in back there,” Tangerine says, his voice comes out soft. You look at him and shrug.

“It’s no big deal,”

“I would’ve have thought you’d argue with someone in the bar, I was impressed, you were slightly terrifying.”

You softly laugh, Tangerine just smiles. “Well his attitude just pissed me off. But.. I feel terrible for causing a scene. I seemed like a crazy bitch.”

Tangerine turned around so he was basically facing you, “you didn’t cause a scene you done what needed to be done.”

“I guess, but everyone probably thought i was some flawed psycho who’s violent.”

“No. No don’t say that,” Tangerine puts his hand on yours and looks at you; his expression is unlike anything you’ve ever seen. His eyes are soft yet fierce, but they hold so much value to his words. You’ve never seen or heard him be so considerate before. His voice was gentle, not grumpy and his touch was comforting, but you liked this side of him.

“It’s true.”

“Believe me, you’re flawless love. You fought that man to help someone else, that shows how kind you are. Anyone who saw everything go down acknowledges that.” He stroked your hand with his thumb, you smiled at his words, a blush dusting your face.

You rested your head on his shoulder and you knew there was a shift in your dynamic with Tangerine from there onwards. You’d always secretly wanted him but you thought you were too boring and too average for him, but the way he spoke to you and the way he looked at you made you feel like you were on fire.

As I mentioned in my initial reply to the ask, I made a separate post for Esteban, since--as will surprise no one--I really rambled on A LOT about him. And it wasn't fair to shove all my EsteRamblings into the same, much shorter post with Gabe.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

Honestly, pretty much everything about Esteban's character journey in S3 makes me absolutely INSANE (in the best way). But I think the thing that makes me most feral of all is the moment when he falls into the crystal well. His sparkly new outfit and stupid hairdo. The fact that the narrative has visibly and thematically linked him via this shared experience with Elena for the entire rest of the show. The symbolism of him being given the power to run away (literally and metaphorically) from the problems that he has caused. The fact that the show will ultimately end with him not running away but instead running towards something (Elena, specifically to save her from the problem Esteban himself caused). It's just... they did all this to me, an English major, and expected me to be normal about it. The audacity.

7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?

I like it when Esteban is *included* in things. While I wouldn't say he gets as much focus as the four amigos or Isabel, he still does get a good bit of art and a reasonable amount of fic. And its honestly nice to have a blorbo who isn't just shamelessly ignored (*cough Jean Innocent *cough) or vilified to the point of OOC-ness (*cough Kristoph Gavin cough*) , or used almost exclusively as a plot device to facilitate the fandom preferred ship of which they are not part of (both of the others).

18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?

"Admire" is a weird way to put it as it makes it sound as though the dynamic is or should be aspirational/healthy. And I'm honestly having trouble coming up with one that fits that particularly description. I guess either Isabel or Francisco would be closest to meeting that description. But I don't really have too much to say about them right now.

So I am just going to go ahead and treat this question as "relationship that I find interesting and enjoy watching." And honestly, there is a LOT of them. Obviously his relationship with Elena is arguably the building block of the entire show and naturally, I love and cherish it with my entire heart. But I already ramble too much about it so I won't do so here.

I also find his history and complicated relationship with Victor fascinating. The two are clear foils of each other and very shippable ones too, and so my little English major brain/rare pair loving self gets a lot of mileage over the little that we see of them together. But we really only get a single episode of the two of them interacting. (Apart from a few moments in "The Magic Within" and Esteban being mentioned a few times in "The Lightning Warrior") so there's really only so much that I can say about them. And a lot of what I love about them is really just head canons/parts of my fic, so it could be totally ooc.)

Similarly, I think his dynamic with Dona Paloma is fun to watch and has a lot of interesting potential, but we really only scratch the surface of it. The narrative lets them be temporary allies or business rivals for the sake of a given episode's plot, but its rarely done in a way that adds something new or interesting to their relationship. (When Esteban + Paloma political shenanigans happen, its rarely used to advance either of their character developments and when it is, it's usually just Paloma's..as Esteban gets most of his development in other episodes).

So, I feel like I have to say that the most-interesting-and engaging Esteban relationship (apart from Elena) has to be Naomi. The two of them have a really interesting dynamic to watch and their relationship specifically (as opposed to just the two of them as individual characters) gets a good amount of direct focus. Whether Esteban is sniping at Naomi from across the Grand Council table, begrudgingly accepting her as a capable colleague by the end of "Finders Leapers," teaching her to waltz (in order to show up Paloma) in "My Fair Naomi" or clinging to her when Valentina's carriage goes out of control, the two of them don't just steal the scene but positively abscond with it in the most delightful way. Plus, I love the parallels of Naomi ending the show in Esteban's former position as Chancellor. (I like to headcanon that she's gonna end up seeking a lot of advice from him for her new role and may even recruit him as her number two. He has 41 years of valuable experience that it would be shame to waste).

19. How about a relationship they have in canon that you don't like?

This is hardly a surprising answer, but...I do not particularly care for his relationship with Luisa. Esteban was orphaned when he was 9 at most, so he barely remembers his mother. The closest thing to a mother that he does remember is the grandmother who raised him. He needed lots of love and validation and attention, and based on what we see in canon, Luisa didn't give him nearly enough. It took years for her to realize they'd left him out of her "favorite" family painting, the flashbacks in "Dias de las Madres" suggest that she was unaware of just how lonely and vulnerable baby!Esteban was even knowing that he had just lost his parents, she gives a pretty clear impression of Elena being her favorite grandchild ( even before Esteban's secret comes out) which I am sure did *wonders* on baby!Esteban's already fragile self-esteem, and in "Coronation Day," even after she knows that Esteban helped save the kingdom (including both her and Elena), she still side-eyes Elena when Elena says that she has forgiven Esteban. tfw you sacrifice your life for your cousin's (who is also your grandma's fave) and risk it again to banish the evil time spirit, but it's still not enough to earn a long-overdue hug from your granny.

21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?

Give him very specific and sexual Shuriki-related trauma. I mean to be fair, it's not that I enjoy it so much. It's just there in my head and it happens even when I try to make fluffy and silly little plot bunnies. I would say my favorite thing that I actually enjoy doing and make an effort to do is just aggressively validate him and his feelings since he doesn't really get much of that in canon. I like having characters tell him how much he means to them, and I like for them to genuinely mean it. I like to tell him that he is capable of being loved (romantically and/or platonically ) and has the right to be loved. I like for people to recognize that he has been through so damn much and is still living with the scars that the Dark Times have left on his mind, heart, and soul. I like for other characters to come out and tell him that he's important to them, that he's fundamentally a good and worthy person even if a flawed one who lost his way for awhile, I like having characters tells him that they enjoy his company. And perhaps, most of all, I like having characters (especially Elena. but also Victor, Naomi, and probably anyone else) feel protective of him. To have them promise to take care of him and make sure that he never has to feel alone, forgotten, unloved, or helpless ever again. So basically, my favorite thing to do is aggressively project onto him and give him all the sorts of things I would want for myself as wish-fulfillment.

My least favorite thing that I sometimes see done in fic is when past (or present) Shuriki/Esteban is genuinely romanticized (as opposed to treated as inherently abusive/dubiously consensual). When their feelings are assumed to be mutual, genuine, healthy (if admittedly unconventional/unexpected), and redemptive. Particularly when Esteban tries to "save" Shuriki from Elena and/or "redeem" her from her prison cell, because he loves Shuriki/knows that she isn't really "all bad." Because no, in my view, Shuriki is far beyond any hope of redemption, and no one in Avalor would know that more than Esteban, who was forced to stay by her side and serve her for 41 years.

Now, I do think it's possible that Esteban may have developed a little bit of Stockholm syndrome towards Shuriki, based on the length of time they worked closely together, how utterly dependent on her that he had to be just in order to survive, and how desperate he's always been for just a little bit of attention/affection. But again this wouldn't be real, genuine love. At most, it would be physical attraction, and a conditioned learned dependency on her as a survival mechanism. And given the huge power imbalance between them, there's also this inevitable question of any physical and/or emotional relationship being built on a foundation of dubious consent and sexual harassment (at best).

Given that Shuriki does seem shocked and genuinely hurt when Esteban finally stands up to her in "Secret of Avalor," I think it's also possible that she did grow to care for him as much as she could possibly care for anyone. But I also think that the closest to "love" that it's possible for her to feel is casual affection (similar to what one might feel for a favorite toy) or possessive lust.

And um... so no, I do not think Shuriki is capable of love and even if she was, I don't think it would be possible for her to be rehabilitated by/through love. And even if she was, Esteban is the absolute last person I would want to do said rehabilitation work.

Shuriki personally murdered multiple members of Esteban's family, conquered and terrorized his country, and then made him do all the work of managing Avalor while giving him none of the credit. He was a stupid teenager when they met (and from what we can tell, she seems to have been at least 5-10 years older than him...possibly a lot more if she'd already started magically de-aging herself), . As such, she easily manipulated him by preying on his youth, insecurity, and naivety. (Honestly, they give me BIG "Edmund Pevensie and Jadis the White Witch" energy. Baby!Esteban was a bit older and presumably *a bit* smarter than Edmund, but still very naive and very vulnerable and therefore very susceptible to the corruptive powers of someone significantly older, crueler, and more powerful than he. )

So, it makes me super sad and uncomfy to think about Esteban wanting to be and being responsible for personally saving the life/ soul of the person who has corrupted and controlled every aspect of his life since he was 17-18. He deserves better than that. Even if I still like giving him extra trauma and having him wrestle with it.

Worried About Ray by The Hoosiers gives Pogtopia!Tommy vibes, with the way he wanted to protect L’Manberg and protect Wilbur - “the truth be told, the truth be told, I’m worried about the future holds, the future holds. I’m so tired of being worried about Ray.”

A lot of AURORA songs give me Tommy vibes but especially It Happened Quiet which reminds me of his third death. She uses a lot of nature related metaphors in her songs which I think fit his character - “Eyes blue and hollow as it rains against their will”

Good Grief by Bastille is such a c!tommy song about grief and how he processes people dying/leaving. I can’t emphasise this enough - “You might have to excuse me, I’ve lost control of all of my senses. You might have to excuse me, I’ve lost control of all of my words.”

Youth by Daughter reminds me of the legacy that Wilbur left behind once he died on Nov 16th after blowing up L’Manberg. It’s such a sympathetic song, too - “Collecting pictures from the flood that wrecked this home, it was a flood that wrecked this home, and you caused it”

Saint Bernard by Lincoln fits Revivedbur so so much, but specifically in Hitting On 16, his relationships with Quackity, Tommy, and how he felt about the way people treated Dream (read: how he felt they treated him) at this time - “I said ‘make me love myself so that I might love you’, don’t make me a liar, cause I swear to god, when I said it I thought it was true.”

So many Lucy Spraggan songs?? It’s so hard to pick just one but I’m gonna go with Roots for reflecting on the early days of the L’Manberg era - “I bought a big house in the country, I live there now, does nothing for me. Bought a fast car, white and sporty, when I look back I was pretty poorly.”

i love akira-san he’s such a good fit for ichiro 😭😭😭😭

that final stage leaders get together where alan-san revealed their early days of friendship was pretty awkward in part because akira-san wasn’t very chatty with him, but akira-san and jiro’s stage actor getting along pretty much instantly is so ichiro coded LOL

him being an older brother with a mole underneath his eye like comE ON MAN 😭😭😭

since akira-san is a rapper his flow as ichiro is literally insane lol he can also show up to the block party and break dance that’s pretty cool lol

my favourite stage bb thing is their rep live skit where after panicking that he’s still got too much yung thug in him to make a good impression on saburo’s (metaphorical) girlfriend, the princess of aoyama division, he forces jiro to pretend he’s said gf for introduction practice and saburo cries because his brothers are stupid lol

but the moment i always think about is how during stage bb vs dh, they showed ichiro finding out rei’s on sasara’s team, something i’ve always wanted to see canon ichiro react to. and akira-san’s portrayal, the bits of hurt and gutted surprise in his ‘…….he’s on your team?’, and watching him put up his walls and answering sasara’s, ‘how do you know who rei is?’ with silence *clenches fist* is everything i could have ever asked for

much like his seiyuu, jiro’s stage actor is my favourite person in bb to look at LOL

matsuda-san’s smile, his jiro bleps, that long neck of his 😩👌

i firmly believe jiro and saburo will be taller than ichiro once they’re fully grown and thankfully i get a taste of that since matsuda-san is taller than akira-san lol

and!!!!!! i love how aggressive his jiro voice gets!!!!!!! jiro sometimes calls himself a guard dog and tbh i hear it when stage jiro is on the offensive!!!!!!

if you love jiro, you’ll love the character development he goes thru in the 2nd drb arc and matsuda-san was chomping at the bit to act it. maybe that’s the bare minimum but it makes me happy he loves jiro like that to be excited for his growth ;w;

both jiro actors find it absolutely hilarious that their ichiro actors trip over their words all the damn time and it’s so funny to see matsuda-san trying to stay in character while he’s laughing at akira-san lmao

he and saburo’s first stage actor had a really good bantering siblings dynamic when in character, like their adlibs were so in character lol

when akishima-san dropped the role tho, ryuunosuke-san’s saburo wasn’t quite as bratty and it showed in their first fanservice adlib session after their first show together. i just think it’s really sweet matsuda-san adjusted his jiro to butt heads less and to be more encouraging towards ryuunosuke-san’s saburo 😭😭😭

akishima-san’s bratty asf saburo is my preferred saburo tbh but that’s bc i prefer a meaner saburo lmao

whenever he was taunting jiro, he did this jeering little shimmy motion i thought was odd but cute lol

saburo is a haughty asf little 14 year old, and i think akishima-san’s saburo encapsulated that perfectly, but underneath that bravado is a boy with a lot of anxieties, and i think ryuunosuke-san’s saburo showcased that well ;w;

like if i had to classify what ryuunosuke-san’s saburo was amongst all the other versions of saburo out there, he would be the most baby saburo of them all lmao he stands in front of the crowd so politely and he’s a little shy and even cries when he’s overstimulated (by too much dumbassery in his proximity LOL)

i’ll never forget during that final encore of bop 2023, ichiro and jiro started freestyling and once the relay made it to saburo, tho his flow wasn’t as strong as his brothers, he still had a gave his verse and his brothers cheered him on it was so cute they’re the buster bros y’all 😭❤️😭❤️😭❤️😭❤️

As a teen who is currently struggling with their own gender oh my god I have never felt like a book has pried open my screen with metaphorical hands and opened a virtual pit with a million eyes staring at my soul your writing is genuinely some of the best I've ever read. I'd go as far as to say it is comparable to the House of Leaves but I am not a critic please do not quote me on that. AND MARK?? MARK'S grief and flashbacks of Cesar, I was genuinely in his shoes, feeling that short sense of relief before everything crumbled apart and I could do nothing but watch even though I knew the thoughts and feelings of "Cesar", it's agony and whatever the hell is going on in it's little purgatory. Perhaps it's already mentioned or is going to be mentioned but is "Cesar" directly communicating with Mark or is it his trauma acting up? Part of me wonders for a moment if there's something more from my sheer grief of this fan fiction or if you are just phenomenally good at invoking pathos and I am leaning towards the latter rn. I hope this doesn't come off as too like trauma dumpy btw!! That's not my intent at all this isn't venting it's just me throwing down words that come to my mind in the middle of the night when I should be asleep!! Touching on Dave being trans was a part I enjoyed not because it was sad, but because I've been waiting to confirm him as trans in the AU for a while now so it was nice to finally do that, haha. The nightmare with Cesar becoming alt!Cesar was also something I really loved writing too! I enjoy writing and exploring body horror a lot and this AU is very much the perfect opportunity for me to do that lol

The nightmare is a mix of both Mark's trauma finally beginning to get processed and his M.A.D. actually allowing him to kind of communicate with alt!Cesar trapped in the void. We'll be catching up with what alt!Cesar is experiencing very soon, but the communication is not something he is intentionally doing, it's kind of like an instinctive response/a cry for genuine help to anyone that can hear him. It certainly won't be the last time alt!Cesar ends up doing this though!

And yes, Adam should be in the next chapter! :D

1. Do you daydream a lot before you write, or go for it as soon as the ideas strike?

I daydream for AGES. I know that a story is the right one to write in that moment if I can't stop writing it in my head at any given time of the day (but especially when I'm trying to sleep).

3. Do you share your fic ideas, or do you keep them to yourself?

I can only give vague hints to a close person or two, and even that is usually more than I can deal with: once I've shared something about a fic I'm writing, I feel like I've created expectations (even though that's probably not true) and it makes me anxious. I almost got stuck on a story because of this once, so I try to be careful about it now. (Also, I don't like spoiling stuff in advance. 😅)

18. Do you enjoy research?  Which fic of yours required the most research?

I do enjoy research, but sometimes I fall too far into the rabbit hole and I drive myself half-crazy. The answer to the second part of the question is most definitely Stereoscopy. (Which, for the record, is also the answer to all of the "which fic is your favorite/the one you're proudest of/the hardest to write/etc. questions.)

24. How do you choose whose POV to write in?

I think mostly it's the character who gets to discover/realize/learn more stuff throughout the story/chapter, so I have more of a journey to go on. Although, of course, sometimes, only one POV can possibly make sense for the story I want to tell (Stereoscopy from Nathan's POV would not be even half as much stupid, frustrating fun, for example 😏). (And sometimes, er, I kind of need some scenes to be in Keith's POV because, well, Nathan would not share my personal reservations about calling a spade a spade, if you know what I mean. 😳)

34. How much of your personal life/experience do you include in your fics?

In theory/intention, not too much. But in actuality, pretty much every single time, I look back at what I've written (or am writing, even, now) and have a moment where the "Gee, I wonder which of my deep-seated issues this is an extremely blatant way of trying to deal with" hits me over the head like a freaking cartoon anvil.

57. How conscious are you about including symbolism or foreshadowing in your fics?

I really try to be, not so much about the foreshadowing, but definitely about the symbolism (although I think I only do it in either too-cryptic or too-explicit ways). I love using metaphors/similes/etc. and I really try to keep them consistent throughout a story, or to draw only from a single image/concept for a scene; but sometimes I stray because another one comes up, maybe for just a single line, that just seems so beautiful/fitting to me, and I'm not very good at killing my darlings.

Gonna treat this as an excuse to ramble about my thing!

The comic itself is a semi-anthology horror that explores different circumstances (and consequences) of immortality.

It takes place (mostly) in a small UK inspired village called MouseHollow, on the surface this is a perfect idyllic town but in reality it is deeply plagued by supernatural happenings which no one investigates because “tragedy doesn’t happen in scenic little Mousehollow”

The plot centers around a small team of “investigators” consisting of a pair of newly appointed officers and a tired coroner (the deer guy)

Due to a tragic fire that killed the former employees at the station (except the chief who no one has seen since the accident as they won’t leave their office and talks exclusively over the intercoms) the two officers “spots” and Calliope are left to solve the mysteries of Mousehollow with basically no backup so they ask the local coroner for help, Coroner Venison Birk our main guy.

Venison himself has some dark secrets, mainly that due to the lack of supervision has a bit too free range of the many bodies that show up in relation to mysteries (won’t get into that too much now since I don’t want to spoil TOO much)

Early into this new alliance Venison gets access the only piece of evidence related to the fire at the station, a huge mysterious tome that looks at least several hundred years old and he very soon finds out that maybe touching very old books related to tragic crimes probably isn’t the best idea (WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE)

MORE JOJ GIRLS joanna's design isn't creative at all with the exception of her dress. like its deadass just jonathans outfit. now i already touched a bit on the subject here, but boy howdy if she still doesn't live in my head rent free. since writing said post, I've had a brain blast in the form of an epiphany that, what if all those concepts, but she's TRANS. i know, i'm a genius (read also: stupid gay idiot). t4t jonaeri, anyone?

i wanted her design to reflect the journey of coming into her own, and finding her own definition of womanhood. at the beginning of PH, she wears very traditionally victorian clothing. long dresses, corsets, those big ass hats, the whole sha bang. over the course of the story, however, she realizes she doesn't need to conform to societal standards to be "worthy" of the title of woman, so she begins to dress in ways she wants to, or is practical for that specific situation. i wanted to make it a point that while she lets her hair down, she never cuts it or is like "EW EARRINGS BLEH' cuz like. femininity isn't her enemy!! its the patriarchal standards that enforce such a rigid, static form of it onto people!!

when it comes to the trans aspect of her story, I thought long and hard about how to go about it cuz like. i'm trans masc myself, and the last thing i'd want to do is try to infuse transness into a story and have it feel like a redundant, shitty commentary that intrudes on the narrative or smth. i think I've come up with a good idea of where to go with it, though.

i think joanna probably came out sometime in her early teen years, around 13-15, but started questioning around the time she met erina, (haven't come up w a name for him yet, if yall have any ideas feel free to shout em.) who came out much earlier, like 9 or so. just like the idea of joanna being like "omg wow u changed ur gender wow that's so crazy haha doesn't everyone feel that way tho" and erina's like. no???? they don't????

anyway once joanna came out lady joestar was like "ok fine u can trans ur gender BUT you gotta be a lady." which sucks cuz no more rugby but fuck it we ball (or I guess. not. ball.) she struggles a lot with being a poised debutante cuz shes like 6'5 and rich dudes don't really like it when their dance partners could chuck them to the colonies with one arm but fuck them. rest of the story remains mostly unchanged, blah blah blah dio blah blah stone mask blah blah you know the drill ANYWAY speedwagon's first appearance is when we really start making some real impacts on joanna's character, with some definite parallels being drawn between joanna, who was lucky enough to be rich and accepted by her family (for the most part,,,) and speedwagon, who lives in the slums with no family to speak of. by proxy, some parallels to dio as well (she'll get her own ramble when I post her design in 284738374 years), because phantom blood sets up so much for a conversation about classism that we see so little of :( love phantom blood tho dgmw

also you can bet your sweet ass that hamon is becoming a metaphor for queer liberation.

i was wondering, what makes you post what you post? i enjoy reading them, but i just want to hear the motivation. I post because i like to code and share my little coding mishaps and funnies with everyone else. Why do you post?

The global political world's changing. Fast. Ive been a quiet participant in capitalism for 6 years since high school now, and learned a lot about things that I dont typically hear enough in leftist discourse, namely, stupid capitalist shit like finance and capitalist versions of economics. Socially Ive always been leftist, but Ive gone to nearly every camp for the economics of running a globe before realizing the answer is simply that money sucks and nobody wants it but rich assholes

I'm unemployed now and havent been in a position of free time for quite a while, so I have plenty of time to cover some groundwork for just writing about things Ive thought about for a while, then I can go back and expand on the little ideas later if I feel like.

You could just say I want to be a part of the good change happening. I'm a good communicator sometimes, which helps me stand out a bit from other boring finance discussions.

I also dont mind harrassing non-leftists, not changing their mind immediately, but being a pest-in-the-mind they hear later when someone else says the same thing as me and they connect two dots

I do write like a psychotic maniac at times. I embrace that, as it helps me keep a flexible mind. I dont believe that any of us exist in the same reality (metaphorically) so I want to be able switch out of mine and roleplay another idea or belief at will. Gotta keep practicing that flexibility or it goes away.

But truly-- I hate finance. I love pretty much everything else so those discussions are more for my own fun. The finance/economics ones are because I'm honestly too good at it 95% of people are way in over their heads at that stuff its not meant to be accessable or easy to learn whats correct

What kind of jacket/coat do you think Jon was wearing - go! (I have a black and white, kitty-themed lolita style winter coat, with paws, a bell and cat ears! I like to imagine it's something like this! I think Georgie totally would wear a kitty coat!)

JUDE "Suppose it’s not really me, is it? Would you rather be a really stupid piece of firewood?" - First the lamb at the Butcher shop metaphor, now this. Jude is openly telling Jon she intends to hurt/possibly kill him. (And Jon's not having it xD)

JON "I’m sure the Forestry Commission were mortified. Why?" JUDE "… Stop that! And it was because Nikola Orsinov asked us to." - With Daisy in MAG 61 it was easy to miss but now it is very clearly visible Jon's doing something to people when he asks them…

JON "I have a god too, right?" JUDE "Is that another joke?" JON "N-No, I… I’m new to this. Everyone keeps calling me ‘Archivist”, like I’m special, and that… that I serve the Eye. Trying to kill me for it." - Oh god, I know, Jon has no one to ask about this stuff, but Jude really is not a good person for that job… He's like the new kid in a school and accidentally runs into one of the bullies and it will just end in Jon being shoved into his locker… (oh no, wait, that would be Breekon & Hope's thing xD Ok, let's say he gets his lunch money beat out of him by Jude?)

JUDE "Oh please, your god is nothing! The Eye, Beholding, Ceaseless Watcher, whatever you call it, that’s all it does, it watches and knows, sitting bulbous and comfortable in the ignorance of infinite knowledge." - I think it's satisfying that in the end the Eye gets to rule the apocalypse. Just you wait, Jude, and you'll see what "just watching" can do to you.

Uh, another of the Smirke'ian names gets revealed.

When talking about Elias killing Gertrude and doing everyone a favor with this and Elias clearly wanting Jon alive I think about how funny it is, that all the avatars act like they're this cool kids club, even if in different gangs, some closer, some not so much.

JON "So… so tell me the story of why you wanted Gertrude – AH – AAH!" [SOUND OF SIZZLING] JUDE "Try to compel me again, and I’ll burn it out your mouth." - Now she even openly says that Jon somehow compels her.

You know what I also don't like about Jude (and this is, like the tone in her voice, just personal preference)? I HATE when people talk like that about god or gods or whatever! I mentioned this before, that I don't like cult structures in stories and rambling almost deliriously about their fascination. Reminded me very much of The Silt Verses here. (This is also probably the reason, why I can't get into TSV…)

I am only capable of writing 1 story at a time so I’m basically holding off on uh everything until this blog is done. I am very excited to get to write more for my other AUs. Like my “New eden” au which is like the sides happening to meet at a specialized inpatient and there’s loceit and rem(2) and angst and stuff. And I got 2 others i’m excited for bc they’ve got lots of worldbuilding and i havent done much of that in my writing but when i made those AUs i realized i really dig worldbuilding. I am planning on letting y’all vote on which of my AUs should get an askblog when this story is done btw

2) what work of yours, if any, are you the most embarrassed about existing?

Jfkfk the one stucky fic i wrote at like 12. In 1 chapter i put in a self insert and had cap validate my non binaryness. Apparently i thought it was so embarasing i have deleted several chapters from it but i dont remember actually doing that

3) what order do you write in? front of book to back? chronological? favorite scenes first? something else?

Front to back babeyyyy always. Sometimes i scribble down a future scene so i dont forget it but otherwise its all first scene to last

4) favorite character you’ve written

I really did enjoy writing Roman as Jaws in my James Bond au just bc it was such a stupid concept. I also have a soft spot for my son Envy. Before Remus existed Envy was my green side. He was also a gremlin. I love writing dogs <333 Thomas as a dog <3 Roman as a dog <3 Virgil as a big fluffy service dog <333 

7) when asked, are you embarrassed or enthusiastic to tell people that you write?

I usually tell people i write. Usually not that i write fanfic

I guess drama? Slice of life? Romance? Whatever you call this. I have written action and thriller stuff as well but i prefer this. I just love angst 💗💓💚🧡💛 even whump 😈 and some good comfort

I ramble with my beloved best friend 💚 our brainstorm sessions get so ridicolously long. For some aus like the New Eden one the plot would look Completely different if it wasnt for him. I probs wouldnt have expanded it so much

I always have to have music on or i cant concrentate. Cant even sit in the same room as other people while writing if theyre chatting loudly

Bro i used to over explain everrryyythhing. I know i still ramble a lot and put in way too many details in my writing but somehow i used to be even worse!! I also was one of those who wrote like "The boy with the round glasses said" instead of just saying their goddamn names

12) your weaknesses as an author

Uhm everything? Jk. But i really do think that writing in of itself isn’t my strong suit. I always feel like i use the same words too much. The same metaphors. Same flowery texts. My grammar isn’t good either.

If i would have any strenght it would maybe be uhhhh concepts? I’m shit at writing but i do like to think i can come up with some interesting concepts for stories? i like how many times I’ve made the sides into a literal dog in my AUs. thats fun i guess. maybe my strenght could be uhh funny?? people say im funny sometimes?? i dunno in my opinion i think im pretty average. nos trenghts

19) when it comes to more complicated narratives, how do you keep track of outlines, characters, development, timeline, ect.?

....I.......I just remember it.......in my head...I know, i’m horrible. I have tried to write up timelines but it never works for me. Sometimes I use the brainstorms with my bestie on discord as a type of timeline but most of the time I do just keep everything in my brain. Which is stupid bc my memory sucks

20) do you write in long sit-down sessions or in little spurts?

I really wanna say i prefer longer sit downs but the thing is my attention span is shit so it usually becomes me “writing” for like 3 hours but half the time was spent watching youtube

21) what do you think when you read over your older work?

Not that I can think of. When i’m writing im in control of what happens obviously so things that make me dissociate or super uncomfy if i saw it in my day to day life dont have any negative effect on me bc im the one writing. Tho one thing i stray from writin nowadays is eating disorders

24) have you ever become an expert on something you previously knew nothing about, in order to better a scene or a story?

Girl ive looked up the most random shit. Different types of mazes, hotels in kentucky, etc. But really i wouldnt say im an expert on these things but i appreciate how much fics have made me learn about different disabilities. i do have chronic pain and some other shit which has made me put in disabled sides in my fics but its not like i have fibro or im deaf or have a brain injury so i have to read up on this stuff and it’s genuinly fascinating to learn. My fics have also let me learn a lot more about different cultures, in this AUs case i’ve learnt a lot about judaism to write the twins C: i would love to write romani sides in the future bc my family is partially romani but until i do that i like putting in that jewish rep. the fandom needs it hfkjhf
