percy jackson and the olympians tv show episode 2 thoughts

again, just copying my original thoughts from last week 😭😭 lots of rambling, screaming, and general freaking out ahead!

Literally the whole first part of the episode I was sitting on the edge of my seat wondering “is annabeth going to say it? is she going to say percabeth’s iconic line?? I will be so incredibly disappointed if she doesn’t” and then SHE SAID IT SHE SAID IT OMG I LOVE HER and Percy’s reaction lol “huh?”

dude Dionysus is actually perfect “PETER JOHNSON IS HERE” man I am so looking forward to all of their banter

uhhh not me saying chiron’s name wrong for five plus years now and only now finding out it’s KYron and not CHEEron *sobs*

the whole thing with mr d saying he’s Percy’s dad was so funny I was cackling the whole time lol and not Percy ACTUALLY believing him and then Chiron shows up and it’s like “uh wait a minute hold on”

okay it is totally weird realizing that none of these people know who Percy’s dad is or what he can do but everyone watching (or mostly everyone I’ll say) does UGH I FEEL OLD

the music growing scarier as Luke approaches ACK FORESHADOWING he’s kinda cute tho I love his hair

i absolute adore how they made Percy mad about the injustice of the unclaimed at this young age not just as a fifteen year old and I freaking LOVE that for him

Clarisse is amazing, perfect, and gorgeous in every single way

final thoughts: okay, that episode was PHENOMENAL! Camp half blood is absolutely gorgeous, the capture the flag scenes were perfect. Walker is crushing it as Percy and that was genius casting and I will say that till the day I die. I cannot wait for the third episode! my only complaint is, where’s the Oracle?? I genuinely want to hear the prophecy! because if she’s not here now then how’s Rachel gonna become the next oracle? I will hyperventilate bc perachel was so good for percabeth’s growth hahaha. I really really hope she’s in the next episode! I guess we’ll see!

That's true - we don't know for sure that Trollian can fully emulate Sburb's surveillance capabilities.

If the trolls were sufficiently motivated, though, they wouldn't actually need to. Sollux could probably hack one of the kids' computers, to gain access to their Sburb viewport - although if he did, he wouldn't need a camera to snoop on their messages.

Is there a paranoia Aspect? I think I've finally found my calling.

I have no particular theories about who he is, how he knows Jade, where he got his hands on so many endgame weapons, or why he's got such an antiquated accent if he's watching movies from the 80s. I assume time travel is involved, but that doesn't really narrow anything down in a comic like this. He (she? they?) is a complete enigma, and I'll just have to wait to learn more.

I've actually been workshopping some Quest stuff for Sahlee this week! I suppose I'd need to figure out her Title first, though, and for that, I'd need to get a more solid idea of her personality, and how her experiences on Alternia have shaped her.

in one of your last posts you seemed to imply that the multiverse exists inside the timeline, but ive always read it as the opposite, the timeline inside the universe that would explain why the trolls can pick any time from the humans universe to talk to them but cant have private conversations with their own futute/past selves, its not an inherent part of trollian, they are just outside the human timeline (the memos are still trollian being time fucky) dont know if that makes any difference but its a thought also i realize the tag may be unecessary due to my quirk, but its too late to stop now

(NOTE: quirk omitted for readability, but the substitutions are [t -> 7, s -> 2] - sort of a variant of Sollux's quirk. I actually don't think we've seen any quirks which add a 7, so the voice here is distinct from any trolls we've seen so far. I like it!)

Originally, my assumption was that each timeline contained a duplicate of the entire multiverse. Doomed timelines don't seem to let you communicate with other universes/dimensions, though, so they don't need to contain other sectors of reality. I'm currently of the opinion that doomed timelines only contain an instance of the dimension they were doomed in. The only timeline which contains the entire multiverse is the Alpha.

This mechanic keeps doomed timelines simple, but in-universe, I don't know why it exists. Much like the Alpha itself, it's a mystery I can only speculate about.

has the shipping chart been updated since the last time we saw it? also you (at some point) said that equius<>feferi was a controversial ship so i had to go back to check the notes and i was the only person i found talkig about it so i guess im the whole controversy? if thats the case i would like to thank you for recognizing me as the equius<>feferi number 1 hater (all jokes of course)

Tavros is barely a presence on the Land he's ostensibly the hero of, and all of his actions are being dictated by a third party who can physically control his body. This third party does not acknowledge or respect Tavros's own desires, effectively forcing him to play the game in a way that she personally approves of.

She claims it will make him stronger.

Shit, this is such a dilemma. I'm honestly really torn.

See, I'd probably find old fandom theories absolutely fascinating to analyze. I'd love to know how closely my ideas align with those of the early Homestuck fandom, and whether I'm saying anything really out-of-pocket. My analysis of Sollux's ~ATH script was apparently an original theory, and it's honestly one my proudest moments.

But that's also sort of the problem, isn't it? If I dive too deeply into other people's fan theories, they'll start to affect my own - and if I'm introduced to a really compelling fan theory, it could end up replacing any homegrown theories that I could have developed in lieu of it. If someone had send me a well-reasoned ~ATH theory before I did my own analysis, I'd probably have been less motivated to make the analysis in the first place. After all, many of my questions would already have been answered by a clever theory I just read.

People are free to send me their own off-the-cuff opinions on what's happening in the comic, or their own takes on any meta I write. I get a lot of asks like that, and they're some of my favorites. There are also asks which spoil a little too much, but I'm still interested in their takes, so Cat's saving them for later. We don't really delete asks - we just delay the ones that aren't necessarily appropriate for a blind liveblog.

Obviously there's a fine line here, and whether a given ask is a theory or just an opinion is a little subjective - but in my opinion, the influence that asks and submissions have had on my analysis has been relatively minor. I don't think many of my theories have been spawned from an ask, or killed by one.

This is a little different, though, because it's part of a theory that was crowdsourced over several years. It doesn't sound like something that could be inferred by an individual, so I'm not sure if it's something an individual liveblogger should necessarily know about? If I start crowdsourcing my analysis, my theories will be less Wertsearch and more fandom consensus, and I don't think I'd enjoy that as much.

I really want to know, but I think I'll enjoy the liveblog more if I don't. When I finish the comic, I'll gleefully analyze any fan theory that anyone sends me - but for now, I'll just have to wonder, and come up with theories of my own!

Yeah, we've really been getting into it with Vriska lately. I've enjoyed trying to explain and predict her actions, and I'm glad people don't think I'm going overboard when trying to analyze her.

When a character does something interesting, I don't like to move on until I have a theory about why they did it. Sure, it may be refuted later, but it needs to be something that's consistent with what I currently know about their personality.

Vriska takes a particularly long time to puzzle out in this way. Her motivations are derived from a complex web (lol) of factors, including Scratch, Spidermom, her rivalry with Terezi, her horrendous relationship with Tavros, classism, teenage hormones, quadrant politics, highblood society and the Alternian culture of violence. They all inform her decisions, and any combination of them could have been the catalyst for the latest Vriska Incident.

I want characters to make sense to me, and Vriska is written to deliberately challenge my attempt to achieve this. Her meta is fun to write, so I'm glad it's also fun to read!

it was daytime, and you had been staying at a friends house for just a couple of nights after an outburst from nadja sent you away.

her behavior wasn’t out of the ordinary, but the way her anger felt directly directed towards you this time— it felt a little personal.

“unbelievable! i have had my night and dinner ruined by a pair of donkeys and then i come home to find you have broken one of my favorite vases!”

you raise your brow, glancing over at the two shameful looking nandor and lazslo as they cowered into the living area, “i thought you said this vase was worse than looking at a bible-“

“i said none of that skatá!”

you stare at the fuming vampire in front of you, her expression contorted into a frustrated scowl. you decided to take a more gentle approach instead, “it was an accident, i can clean it up and get you a new one-“

“no, i don’t want a new one, you stupid little human! i wanted that one and now i can’t have that one anymore!”

usually the insult would fly over your head, her harsh remarks habitually being empty— towards you at least. but something about this stung, something about her tone felt a little too sincere.

you knew nadja was just taking her anger out of you. she was cranky and frustrated by her long night and her wasted struggle to get some food, but you couldn’t help but let it get to you.

you have absolutely nothing to say, nothing to defend yourself with besides the fact that you were simply a clutz.

“well? are you going to stop gaping at me like a dying whale on a beach and tell me what the fuck you’re gonna do about this?”

you don’t answer her, and it seems she misses the hurt look on your face when she rolls her eyes impatiently before stomping off to her room with a few more strings of greek curses falling from her lips.

after she’s gone, you immediately turn the other way and head for the front door, disappearing for the night.

…

of course, you weren’t planning to stay away forever— just long enough for her to let out a little steam and calm down without you around. even if you weren’t the center of her frustration, you thought it’d still be a good idea to not get your feelings hurt further more.

you would come back anyway— and thats exactly what you were doing, heading back to the vampire residence after a small goodbye and thanks to your friend. it was night time, and you had originally planned to go during the day for safety reasons, but luckily it wasn’t too far of a walk.

that, and you didn’t really wanna wait another day.

you kept an eye out for anything suspicious as you walked in silence, but it’s soon broken, and a sudden screeching of your name nearly makes you jump out of your skin.

you whip around, and calm down when you see none other than nadja speed walking towards you in a desperate pace, and you can’t help the smile that twitches your lips at her determination.

she lets out a sigh of relief when you let her engulf you in hug, her arms tightly wrapped around you, and there’s a familiar sense of comfort in her arms as you sit in the moment for a second.

she pulls back, and you can now see the worried yet relieved expression on her face as she holds yours in her hands.

“oh, honey, where have you been? i thought i’d never see you again.”

there’s a warm, tingly sensation pooling in your stomach at the realization that she missed you, yet there’s still the bitter feeling she left on your heart when you last saw her.

“you’re so lucky i happened to randomly find you while i was out hunting and not some grubby sewer rat. what on earth were you doing?”

you look down for a moment, and she oddly waits for your answer patiently. “i was.. actually heading back to the house.”

“in the middle of the night? oh you soft-brained little lamb—“ she cooes softly in contrast to her words, petting your head. “why did you leave in the first place, hmm?”

you hesitate, letting out a sigh before answering her simply enough, “you were angry at me.”

you see the realization as it flashes across her face, hints of guilt left in the creases of her worried expression.

“oh, of course i wasn’t, moráki mou. i was angry at those two stupid potatoes, nandor and lazslo.”

you nod, “i know, it just hurt a little.”

she rubs your cheeks bones softly, and you lean into her touch, “oh, i am sorry, my love. i didn’t wish to take my anger out on you. and i didn’t mean to be so harsh that it would send you away from me.”

“it’s okay.” you give her a small smile, but before you can say anything else, she tsks at you.

“it is not.” she dreads, guiding you along with her as she begins to walk forward.

“come now, i’ll make it up to you. we’ll have a great day full of activities and fun that’ll make your little head forget of all the horrible things i said.”

you couldn’t say no to that.

"deku is straight you can't ship monodeku" okay so what if i made Monoma a girl.

introducing transfem Monoma au because I've been thinking abt her so much!!!

pre realization ideas first!!!

Monoma's hair grows out a bit more then he's used to, and Pony has the brilliant idea to dress him up all girly for fun. she does his makeup, puts him in a pretty sun dress and just makes him look oh so fab

when Neito sees the final product, he thinks he looks AMAZING. he feels amazing. he feels like himself more than he ever has in his life.

ever since that day, he couldn't stop thinking about how it felt to see himself in the mirror all dressed up like that. he really, REALLY wanted to feel like that again, but asking Pony to dress him up again would be embarrassing. so reluctantly, he ordered some clothes and makeup online.

when they arrived, he got to work. the makeup was a lot more difficult than he anticipated, but after some struggling and a handful of tutorials, he was satisfied with the results. and once he put the outfit together, he looked in the mirror.

and he kept looking. he stared for a while, watching how the dress flowed when he moved, staring at his longer-than-usual hair. part of him knew this wasn't normal, and that scared him. but for now, he felt good. he felt comfortable.

Realization!!!

despite the fear, monoma wanted to know WHY he felt like this in the first place. why he felt so comfortable looking like a girl. the more he thought about it, he realized he would really enjoy being a girl. so off to google he went.

the research wasn't very hard to do, it was accepting that maybe, after all, "he" was actually a "she".

acceptance and putting her identity together!!

eventually, after a few weeks, Monoma had come to accept that she was, in fact, a girl. she felt discomfort hearing masculine terms used on her ever since she realized she was trans, so she decided to change some things before telling her friends the news.

she decided she wanted to use she/her pronouns, and she wanted her new name to be Neoma, instead of Neito. it just sounded cute, and she didn't want to stray too far from her original name, after all she was still herself despite the transness.

Coming out!!!!

When Monoma decided to come out, she wanted it to be to her class first. so, to do that, she asked the class to meet her in the student lounge with the help of Vlad, who she had told first.

She dressed in her best outfit and nervously stepped out from behind the corner.

when she had told the class she was trans, as well as her new name and pronouns, the reactions were relatively positive. some were surprised, and even shocked, but there was also a buzzing excitement from the crowd, with a handful the people excitedly asking questions. the girls of the group began planning outings and giving Nene tips on being a girl as well.

OKAY THATS ALL I HAVE FOR RN. ill definitely be posting about some of Nene's trans experiences, but i would LLLOOOOOOVVVEEEE to hear your guy's ideas too!!!

THIS IS SO LONG I APOLOGIZE. been thinking of (actual) princess!jackie and knight!reader !!! except, your parents were killed at the hands of jackie’s father when you were younger and you swore to get revenge against the Taylor family.

They were holding a tournament to see who the strongest knight was, you thought this was the perfect opportunity to gain the attention of the royals. you end up winning and the King personally congratulates you. jackie happens to fall in love at first sight when you take off your helmet and begs her father to hire you as her personal knight.

Spending more time with her and her family, but you have to keep reminding yourself why you’re here. but of course, she’s Jackie Taylor and you gain feelings. You take her out at night sometimes to go lay by the lake and just talk. She always asks about your childhood but you brush it off, or make things up. Your first kiss was the day you took her to this flower field near the village you grew up in. You complimented her and told her that her beauty reminds you of flowers, and it took her at least 5 minutes to calm down before she kissed you.

Thinking how hard it would be when you realize you actually Love her. Your real beef was with her father, but you couldn’t handle how distraught she would be if she found out your plan. this is getting long again so let me get to the ending. i had 2 in mind: the King finding out ur intentions and killing you before you killed him, and in front of jackie too :/ OR going thru with ur original plan and killing the entire Taylor family. Jackie included. she’s so betrayed and keeps muttering “why?” over and over until she takes her last breath.

jackie sees you run your sword through someone and falls in love at first meeting for sure. you take your helmet off and are covered in the blood of your opponent and it takes everything jackie has not to jump you right there.

you spend so much time protecting jackie because shes so clumsy all the time and you're like "how is this girl alive???" you're like "hey!" and jackie gets so overwhelmed she trips on the carpet and nearly falls down the stairs. oh no, you have to catch her in your arms. she's so obsessed, honestly. (she never seems to be clumsy in the slightest when you're not around)

jackie's just so kind and earnest that you can't help falling for her. princess jackie gives her allowance away to the poor and really cares about her people. she stops in the square to talk to them and seems to know a lot of them by name. she talks to every one of her servants and asks them about their families or how their new baby was doing. she's so very loving that it goes against everything you've ever heard about the king.

you've spent your entire life hating the royal family that you really don't know what to do when confronted with the fact that she's an actual person and you're having a harder and harder time trying to demonize her. the opposite is true for her father, he's just as awful as you heard and even to his own family.

thinking about jackie lying out by the lake while your in full armor standing guard and her just begging and begging you to come sit with her. finally you sneak her away in the middle of the night to do it because the king would have you killed if someone ran into you during the day. jackie's so honest as she talks about her childhood and stuff she loves that you try to be as honest as you can be without actually telling her anything.

your first kiss is so fucking soft and gentle. neither of you have ever had a chance to kiss someone before, her being the princess and you being too busy preparing for revenge. you pull away a bit from her after that, having a really hard time coming to terms with these two waring ideals. you love her so much, deeply and truly. you never thought you'd love anyone like that after your parents died. you've planned your entire revenge around dying after since you wouldn't have a purpose or anyone left to miss you. but now you do, and you aren't sure what to do anymore.

i think both of those endings are depressing as fuck (power to you though bro) so i'm gonna leave it here.

apparently y'all Are desperate enough for my Lomadia Oc so uh. hope you're in the mood for [checks notes] ~13 paragraphs, half of which is just description!

allow me to introduce Villom!

She doesn't have an actual name or in-universe nickname, I just call her Villom. Because she was originally a Villain Version of Lomadia from a sci-fi world for some comic idea I totally scrapped bc it sucked. Except for Villom!

So basically what if we put Lomadia in space and gave her every problem and no normal coping mechanisms

The base universe is Completely Impossible sci-fi space stuff, involving solar systems being relatively close together and having tons of habitable planets, with star trek 'convergent evolution' making everybody a Weird Human Basically. Part of these choices is that I. Don't actually like sci-fi lol. I don't think its bad I just can't Get Into It, so I did the lazy version. HOWEVER I do also use the fact that its extremely artificial and story-focused as part of the plot so its FINE There IS also magic, but it’s generally less used, as tech is more accessible and less complicated from a user standpoint. That doesn’t mean it isn’t powerful, if you know what to look for. Thats foreshadowing!

Compared to base Lomadia, Villom is.. very immature. She has trouble identifying and controlling emotions, she's quick to anger and holds grudges. She's also more impulsive and tends towards insults and crude jokes. She's actually pretty fun to hang out with as a result, but responsibility is a role she's crushed into, and it never truly fits. She's trying her best ok

Villom starts out her story as a young adult, training to be a pilot. She does some hero shit, but breaks so many rules in the process and gets kicked out. She’s enraged by this betrayal of what was supposed to be her life, and steals a ship to go rogue and try to pursue her dreams anyways. She doesn’t exactly know what she’s doing, though, and eventually a chase causes her to crash on an unfamiliar planet, where she meets Rythian. He’s steampunk now, don’t question it

Anyways, they end up teaming up, and form the first of her crew. Later additions are Martyn, who is a mouse guy who has So Fucking Many People Who Want Him Dead, and Zoeya! Who ended up separated from Fionn following partially the plot of Mushbury, and works as the ship’s engineer. Their ship (that lasts long enough to get a name…) is called the Ask, and Villom occasionally (and jokingly) calls her crew the Answers. (Its called the Ask because originally I gave the characters nicknames based on Norse mythology for Pretentious Reasons, those might come back later)

So everything’s all fine and poggers for a while, with the Ask’s crew causing mischief and undercutting evil empires across the worlds- and then Villom’s home planet is destroyed. And she sees it happen.

See, one of the tropes of sci-fi that bugs me, is how understated the death of an entire planet tends to go. This is the first step of Villom realizing how truly fucked up the world they live in is- and the first step of her wondering why it has to be this way, and how to stop it.

It only gets worse from here.

No matter how many evil empires they topple, no matter how many massive threats they thwart, there’s always another one. And no matter how fast they are, they can’t stop every world-ending crisis. Villom starts learning magic, wondering if theres some kind of solution there. When she doesn’t find one, she just looks harder. The breaking point is when Rythian dies. Raiding an enemy ship goes wrong, they’re outnumbered, they’re trying to retreat. Surrenders are not accepted, there.

It’s another thing she sees happen, another thing she was inches away from but unable to stop. And she can’t take it. She can’t take losing another part of her, another of the few things she could call home in this cold void.

She takes some of the things she learned looking where she shouldn’t- and kills the nearest member of the enemy team, trading a life for a life. And part of her soul as tax, of course. Just a small bit, this time. She never tells him. Pretends it was instead an incredibly close call. He probably knows she’s lying, on some level, but he never says it.

Villom is desperate, now. There’s more and more things she’s hiding from her crew, more and more boundaries of safety she’s pushing. She trades one of her eyes for the ability to see the functions of the world itself- maybe it’s a mistake, there’s some gear stuck, and if she fixes it this infinite loop of wars will stop.

There is no mistake. This is how the universe is intended to function.

She can’t give up. Because if she stops, she’s never going to get up again.

Maybe there’s other worlds where it’s better, where it’s safe. Maybe there’s a way to make this world like them.

Maybe there’s a way to leave.

She’s barely human anymore, even though she looks perfectly fine. Her hair is white, her eye replaced, but that’s all. She’s replaced the things she’s traded away. She’s barely even a part of the world, anymore. Unstuck from the threads of it, floating as a constant point, unchanging and undying, snapping back into place when moved.

A lot of universes are visited by a strange woman with white hair, who never stays. Sometimes she’s a savior, or a tyrant, or merely another passerby.

One of them, somewhere, has to have an answer. The way to break the cycle. And Villom will find it- even if she has to take every one of them apart.

Assorted headcanons about Phoenix and the seven year gap because it lives rent free in my head and I must yell

-I made another post about it but Edgeworth was the first to hear about State v Enigmar and Maya was the first to see Phoenix in person after he's disbarred (and the first to meet Trucy)

-Originally Phoenix and Trucys situation was just him fostering her at first, not an immediate adoption of her, largely cause Phoenix was hoping for her sake that Zak would eventually come back to AT LEAST see her, but after like- year 2 of Zak being gone, it turned into an actual adoption of her and she legally became Trucy Wright (although she had started going by that name a few months beforehand)

-The first year for Phoenix was- Well Rough To Say The Least, he ended up getting into a l o t of fights with both Maya and Edgeworth and started really pushing them away (never in front of Trucy but she could tell something was going on) largely cause in his mindset at the time he didn't really think they understood what was going on (which he very much realized was VERY stupid considering who he was talking to) and eventually it ended in both Maya and Edgeworth staging something of an intervention and being like "hey man your being a huge dick to both of us we're trying to help you through this but also whats going on in that head", they ended up finally actually Talking and settled things for once, things got better after that! slowly yet surely

-After the bar association trial, Phoenix was the first to approach Kristoph for believing him, and that where their friendship started (Kristoph was going to just do regular ol stalking instead but decided that being "friends" with him would probably be easier here so he went with it)

- personally my least favourite interpretation of the 7yg is where Phoenix knows that kristoph was the one who framed him all along, like idk it's just not very interesting to me, it's kinda boring ghjkhlj I absolutely where people are coming from with it though but idk hgjkhl it's lame to me

- Even though Phoenix was no clue whether or not he's going to become a lawyer again and pretty much had adapted to his new life, he always has that little thought in his mind that if he becomes one again, everything in his life will get better instantly, he'll be useful again (spoiler alert, it doesn't immediately fix his life! he has Depression)

-Around year 2 was when Edgeworth started bringing over Phoenix and Trucy to Europe (in my mind he spends about half the year in Europe and Half in America), while he DID give the reason that he needed Phoenixs help with a case or two (and that wasn't an outright lie) largely he just wanted to spend time with the two of them and didn't know how else to express it, by year 5 Phoenix caught on to what he was doing and found it VERY funny, after that their trips were much less law focused

-Phoenix met Athena in Europe in Year 3 and kept in contact with her until she arrived in America, and oh BOY can she tell he is very upset

-Eventually he does go to therapy like- after DD, at the insistence of Athena and Trucy (it takes him a bit cause he's one stubborn man but he gets there eventually!)

-He started growing out his hair and realized that he did actually like this hair longer so he kept it!

-While he does not regret making Apollo use the forged ace in court, he does hope that one day they'll be able to mend things since he knows it hurt Apollo a lot, he cares about Apollo but is giving Apollo the space he needs to make that choice on his own, he's very proud of both him and Athena

-Trucy gave him her second earring so they could match! He nearly sobbed when she did that hgjkhl He did have to get his ears pierced to wear it but dw he was very brave about it

Bramblestar x Jessy hypos?

I never actually finished reading bramblestar's storm so I had to skim Jessy's page a bit.

They have only one kit, a tiger clone named Sharpshade

ft. half siblings Sparkkit and Alderkit :) (originally I intended him to be a young apprentice here but then I realized the timelines don't mesh up so he's a manlet lmao)

Squirrelflight and Bramblestar do not have a romantic (at the time anyway) relationship in Bramblestar's Storm, it is strictly professional. Because of this, Jessy decides to join the clan and becomes Bramblestar's mate for a while. However the two come to realize that they don't work well together and decide to split up by the time Sharpkit is weaned. They're both able to come up with a custody agreement where Sharpkit will primarily be raised by the clan but Jessy can visit her kit as much as she pleases. Not everyone is happy with just letting an ex classmate barge into camp whenever she wants but eventually they all shut up and get used to it.

Sharpkit has a... relatively happy childhood all things considered, he gets to grow up having three parents (bramble, squilf, and Jessy) and is overall a pretty mellow little guy. Although he's far, far closer to Jessy and his step mom than he is to Bramblestar. He can't help but feel Bramble may...resent him a bit with how much of a black sheep he is when compared to the rest of the Bramblesquirrel family, this fear grows even worse when Squirrelflight reveals she's expecting kits and suddenly Bramblestar barely talks to him anymore. Unfortunately, he is not immune to the warriors trope of 'not telling anyone anything' and decides to distract himself by helping out in the medicine den.

When Squilf's kits are born he does everything he can to make sure she and the kits have the best of care. He almost acts as a second nursery queen, often covering for Squirrelflight whenever she needs to get out and stretch her legs. Bramblestar even starts talking to him more frequently, and he learns new, exciting things about fathers past during their chats together..although some tension still remains.

He is a very good brother to both Alder and Spark throughout their entire lives and always makes an attempt to stay in touch no matter how busy he gets. I don't think he'd ever have a pov role but hes a nice supportive presence within the clan.

In Squirrelflights Hope/ The Broken Code he'd have a more prominent role. In those books he'd be less 'mellow lil dude' to 'I'm breaking every bone in your body if you say something to me or my family one more time'. He calls out Bramble for his treatment of Squilf and starts purposely putting himself between them if he senses things are going south. Sharps relationship with Bramble is already deeply shaken but by the time the imposter situation comes about the damage is irreversible. Like, he realizes Bramblestar was not in control of his actions and technically not at fault but he can't look at him the same way anymore. Sure, he still cares for Bramblestar and loves him, but he can't ever forgive him..not after everything thats happened.

He almost considers leaving Thunderclan for good and living with his mother, Jessy, but ultimately decides he wants to be there for Squilf and the rest of his clan born family.

And here's to the revival of WCTD and the first ever WCTD monthly post! But first things first, let's get some basics out of the way

↳ WHAT IS WCTD?

↳ WHAT IS WCTD MONTHLY?

I've had this wip for a long time but have never made much significant progress before shoving it to the side because of work, school, life, or just being burnt out. WCTD Monthly is my way to try and motivate myself by giving myself a space to talk about all of the different work I've done on this wip. (And to pressure me into actually working on it so I have something to talk about.) You can follow along with my updates with the #wctd-monthy tag

↳ NOW, ONTO THE SHOW

outline → the first 9 chapters have been outlined. outline document is currently at 4k+ words. The main plot beats for Act 1 and Act 2 have been outlined

notion → I rebuild and organized my wip notion, as well as all of the character pages

series → because of the different character arcs and plot beats that I wanted to explore, I decided to officially make WCTD a duology as opposed to a standalone like originally planned. No official title for book two as of yet, though Crowning of the Sun is a tentative one.

worldbuiling → realized that the majority of book 1 takes place in the now subjugated kingdom of Hesperia as opposed to Aetier, where I focused the majority of my worldbuilding. This means that I'm starting to worldbuilding from...almost the ground up. It helps that I'm mostly focused on the province of Isidore.

characters → the vi Aetier family has been expanded! Fenice and Charles now have 3 other half-siblings (Euphemia, Konstantine, and Basil) as well as their siblings' respective mothers. I've added 9 noble houses to form the unofficial oligarchy of influence in Isidore, and I've given Leda a rival-turned-girlfriend-turned-ex to help flesh out her character.

extraneous content → attempted to make the vi Aetier family tree starting from the beginning of the vi Drochona dynasty (I'll probably clean it up and post it separately at a later date). I also added another god to the pantheon (Heleia, goddess of the wild nature, the hunt, liberation, and childhood), and finally re-introduced wctd (linked above)

Crying over SSL Kaoru's Route

i can't stop crying over them, someone pls help me….

I finally can play Hakuouki SSL on my pc, and ofc the first route i finish is Chizuru's twin, the one and only Nagumo Kaoru.

I really craved for "Yukimura" twin sibling bonding moment or them having actual sibling relationship (not where one of them trying to kill the other one).

AND SSL IS WHERE OTOMATE HEAR MY PRAYER

Whatever issues SSL's have, i just want to see my Yukimura sibling being happy :( so heres some rambles about it since i'm so happy after finishing it right now T_________T

Some cute SSL Kaoru thingy

-> KAORU PREFER CATS THAN DOGS!!!!!!!!!! also his reaction when Chizuru choose the same animal as him (despite Chizuru was like "B-but i don't hate dogs…" its literally the "You like waffles so you hate pancakes" shits) is just so cute and on brand. He really acts and looks like cat tho, theres also part when Chizuru calls the cat "Kaoru~" and the cat "meow" at it. I'm literally on tears rn…..

-> Yes… he has his own "Dead Note" where he put peoples names on it… thats so nerdy wtf (love him more). He also part of disciplinary comittee so he put names on students who broke the rules (or studets who getting too close to Chizuru) and give them strikes after that, well maybe its really a dead(th) note in some way.

-> Kaoru and Okita…. no matter what timeline it is i guess they just can't get along huh. Okita without his coughing and Kaoru without sniper behind him, this scene looks like shitan Okita's route remake in some way lol. Happiest ending ver.

The only time Kaoru and Okita actually "get along" is when they confront Sannan who suddenly being a "creep" to Chizuru

Which…. well deserved actually. Sannan you really need to sounds like it when you actually "didn't mean anything" hh….

Borderline-siscon-overprotective-brother personality really suits him lol

I mean, i think if the original timeline Kaoru have a better past with the Nagumo's or him and Chizuru isn't seperated, i think he will be like this too. His "Kawaii imoutou" phrase whenever he referred to Chizuru wouldn't sounds creepy or full of loath, but more actually loving and caring.

I mean, i think the main reason he "Hates" Chizuru is actually because he loves her so much, he thought she also have the same life as himz and he dream to someday he will make her happy together with him again just like in the past. But the feelings become cloudy when he learned his beloved sister forget him (when he always think of her), having a way better life, loves by everyone, and also she rejects him at the end. He thinks sibling should feel e/o but Chizuru didn't feel him at all, doesn't even remember her past/family, and living "her best life'". Theres black feeling right there but still he can't stop loving her so the only solution for him is to just bring her suffered like him.

*cough* so SSL is here to bring the pain away from them.

This is one of the funniest Kaoru overprotective mode, he really act as if he is also not a "16 year old" kid. AND I'M WITH CHIZURU, WHO IS WHO?!?!?!?!JSDHSBHS The only obvious one is "Idiotic student council president"??? T_______T Loose cannons is Okita i guess????? Happy-go-lucky is Heisuke??????

Tsundere big bro and bold lil sis

Even though yes Kaoru is really siscon like here, its actually still in the sibling border. Like the way he loves Chizuru is not disgusting at all, he just so protective and genuinely want to "fulfill" his role as big brother to Chizuru, but didn't know how to handle his feelings well lol so he really ends up being a tsundere mess.

I mean look at this one example, at first Chizuru is hurt, Kaoru then laughing at her, but when he realize Chizuru is actually hurt, he become worried and piggybacked her?! AND THEN LOOK AT THE PHONE MESSAGE SCREENSHOT, HE LITERALLY MAIL THAT TO CHIZURU AFTER THE EVENT. Thats so sibling thing,,,

Different from Kaoru who become "tsundere" when he expressed his actual feelings, Chizuru is actually so much bolder. She talks back to Kaoru, take initiative firts, and just "meh" it a way when Kaoru say bad things to her. It's like the gap of how different someone can be with their sibling vs with other people.

Heres some example lmao, Chizuru holding Kaoru's hand first so casually and Kaoru said he hates it but didn't trying to get away at all. (he loves it ofc he is). Then the bottom picture, its Kaoru mailing shits to Chizuru when he actually watching Chizuru from the crowd, and well Chizuru responds to his mail is sure come from heart <3

I need to put this because its funny seeing Kaoru dumbfound face while Chizuru saying the same thing 3 times cause his stupid brother apparently can't grasp the fact that his sister give him chocolate on valentine day WHEN HE ACTUALLY FORBID EVERYONE TO BRING CHOCOLATE AND DOING INSPECTION OF IT SINCE HE DIDN'T WANT CHIZURU TO GIVE CHOCOLATE TO ANYONE. What a cute irony.

Oh, and of course if we have bickered moments we also have the sibling wholesome moments

Also, when Kaoru calm like this, their face really looks like a copypaste (maybe because iT IS a copypaste) somehow i giggle at this.

Summary : You, Eddie, Robin, Steve, and Nancy are all on a boat above Watergate. Having only known Eddie for about a week (or eight years if you count seeing each other in the hallways and going to the same middle school), you were too scared to confess your crush on him, even though whenever Dustin poked fun he never denied any feelings. You try to chase after your friends into Watergate, but Eddie stalls you.

“No,” (Y/N) sighed, pointing her attention to Steve, who had a brilliant idea to swim into the bottom of Lover’s Lake and check out Watergate. “It’s a stupid idea.” She finishes. Steve rolls his eyes, “(Y/N), you’re being overdramatic,” He sighs, “No I’m not!” She says, looking over at Nancy, “What do you think Nancy?” (Y/N) pouts. “I think it’s stupid, but he’s the only one willing to do it.” Nancy shrugs. “No. No. No, I’ll do it.” (Y/N) suggests, taking off her jacket and shoes. Eddie turns his attention over, as he attempts to light a cigarette with a worried expression hidden in his features.

No way. No way in hell is (Y/N) actually going to go into the lake where a guy just died.

“No offense (Y/N), but you wouldn’t last a second down there,” Robin says. “Excuse me? Who fished your ring out of the pool when we went swimming? With no goggles might I add!” (Y/N) objects, taking off her shirt to reveal her sports bra. “Okay, one, that’s just gross, two…” Robin pauses, eyes erotically glazing over (Y/N)’s body, “Uhm,” She continues, closing her eyes, “And two, you came up in a coughing fit after thirty seconds.” Robin finishes, finally opening her eyes again. Steve smiles and raises his eyebrows at Robin, but Eddie walks over to (Y/N). He picks up her shirt, turns it right side in, and throws it over her head. “I think it’s a stupid idea, and I think stupid ideas are for Steve, and Steve only,” Eddie says, securing (Y/N)’s shirt on her arms, corners of his mouth twitching up into a smirk once he sees the blush that crept its way onto (Y/N)'s cheeks.

Please don't go into that lake, (Y/N).

"If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were flirting with me, Munson." (Y/N) teases. Eddie's smirk immediately falters as he backs up.

After thirty seconds filled with silence and the sound of (Y/N)'s clothes hitting the bottom of the boat, Eddie decides to speak up.

"I'll do it." He says from his seated position on the edge of the boat. Everyone turns to face Eddie with a bewildered expression prominent in their features. "Hell no!" (Y/N) says standing up, "I'm doing this." She says, putting her foot on the side of the boat, and getting ready to dive off. Eddie glances over to Steve, who is almost done taking off the clothes that he doesn't want to get wet. (Y/N) goes to push off from the boat, but Eddie grabs a hold of her legs, and pulls her down, into his chest, and repositions his hands around her torso. Once realizing the position Eddie has her in, her eyes widen and she gulps. She takes in his woody aroma, it awakening each and every one of her senses. She stays calm for a few more seconds until she realizes that Steve is about to dive off the boat. "Seriously?" (Y/N) yells, pushing her way out of Eddie's grip. "Whenever he gets killed it's all of your guys' fault." (Y/N) says angrily.

(Y/N) walks over to the group of nerve racked girls. She can't help but feel bad for Nancy's torn apart nail beds.

"Where are we at Wheeler?" Robin asks, "Closing in on a minute," Nancy responds calmly. (Y/N) sighs, and lowers herself to the ground, and sits on her knees, peering over the side of the boat in a child-like manner when Steve abruptly comes up from under the water, causing everyone to scream.

"I found it!" He exclaims over the chorus of terror. "You found it?" Nancy asks, "I found it, yeah, I found it." Steve repeats. Robin pulls out the large walkie-talkie, and pulls up the silver rod. "Dustin you are goddamn Einstein. Steve found the gate." Robin finishes.

"It was wild. More of a snack sized gate than a mama gate, but still. Pretty damn big." He explains. (Y/N), who is still holding a grudge over Steve from moments prior can't help but smile at how excited he is.

As Steve gets ready to pull himself over the boat, something tugs on his legs, causing him to rock the whole boat. He freezes up, and then it tugs again, dragging him down, causing everyone to yell.

"Steve!" Nancy, Robin, and (Y/N) all call out. "No, no, no, no. What the hell was that man?" Eddie panics. "Nancy really, what happened?" Robin asks, "JESUS." Eddie screams. Nancy wastes no time in standing up on the side of the boat and getting ready to jump. Eddie realizes, and speaks up. "Wait, wait, wait," he exclaims, "You're not going in there, are you?" He asks Nancy who takes a quick glance at the water before responding. "Just..." She says before taking a deep breath, "Wait here."

"No, Nancy!" Robin and Eddie yell. "Nancy! Damn you!" (Y/N) says. "What do we do?" She asks Robin while Eddie proceeds to have another mental breakdown. They talk over his faint, "Goddamn it!" 's and "Shit!" 's. "The only thing we can do," Robin says, sitting on the side of the boat and slightly leaning off of it.

"No. No. No! She said wait!" Eddie says. "Robin I swear to fucking god, don't you dare!" (Y/N) yells sternly. "Yeah I heard her," Robin says, responding to Eddie. Eddie scrunches up his face and points down, "...She's in charge!" He responds. "Are you kidding me?" Robin deadpans, "I made that shit up." She finishes before going overboard.

Eddie proceeds to have his six-millionth breakdown of the night, screaming, "Goddamn it! Son of a bitch!" repeatedly. "Eddie, calm down," (Y/N) yells, walking to the side of the boat. "No. NO." Eddie yells, realizing what (Y/N) is doing. She launches herself off the side of the boat, getting ready to swim under, but Eddie follows her close behind and grabs her by her shoulders.

"(Y/N) no. You can't do this. Look at me!" He says, turning her around to face him. "Eddie, our friends are down there probably dying! We can't sit around and wait for their missing report to come out." (Y/N) says, attempting to swim away, but Eddie holds onto her. "(Y/N), I was responsible for what happened to Chrissy. I should've stayed in the room and kept an eye on her, but instead I was in the other room," He says, taking a break to breathe. He stares straight into (Y/N)'s eyes, sparkling under the full moon. "The point is, I could've done something, but I didn't-" Eddie says but gets cut off by (Y/N), "No, Eddie. It wasn't your fault, you couldn't have done anything about Chrissy," "Thank you, but that's not important right now. What's important is that I have the chance to save someone, much less the girl that I've had a crush on since her stupid little cheerleading act with her cousin in middle school, and I'm going to either take it, or go down there with you. So what's it going to be?" He asks.

Wait. Did I hear that right?

Even though he just agreed to practically a quintuple suicide, all (Y/N) can focus on the fact that Eddie just admitted to having a crush on her for the past eight years. The guy she constantly found herself staring at during lunch, because he's not only the only person in that large room that actually has a personality, but the prettiest piece of art she's ever seen. The way his dark eyes trace over her entire figure when he sees her is so enchanting, his woody aroma filling each one of her senses, attracting her like a magnet.

She swims closer to him and puts her arms around his neck. "You just agreed to a quintuple suicide and all I can think about is how you like me." She admits as he wraps his hands around her waist to keep her from moving away with the current. "Hey, Eddie?" She asks, looking up at his water covered face, "Hi, (Y/N)," He says in response. "Can I try something?" She asks, looking between his eyes and his lips. "No," He responds, "Can I?" He asks. (Y/N) lets out a hum in response, signaling he can.

He removes one of his hands from (Y/N)'s waist, and cups her cheek, pulling her head forward to meet his soft lips. The kiss grows deeper as they both appear hungry for one another. Between breaths (Y/N) trys to get Eddie's attention.

"Eddie," She says before their lips meet again, "Eddie." She repeats, "Eddie." She says, finally pulling away. "This better be important (Y/N), that was the best kiss I've ever had," Eddie says jokingly. "Our friends are down there, possibly dying, and we're up here making out." She says, removing her arms from his neck. "Bad on us." He pouts, causing (Y/N) to laugh. "C'mon," She says, taking a deep breath before going underwater. "I'm right behind you." He says.

so this is the blorbo. the new bsd oc i have been working on. from the fanfic i am Struggling with. same guy from the Art a while ago. august (i like the month okay) whatever last name i decide on at a later date.

his ability is called lucy locket! i actually came up with the ability's function first, and then i found that it fit pretty well. basically its a pocket dimension accessed via the users pockets. so far it has infinite storage, but whatever is added or removed at the present moment has to have been able to fit in the pocket originally. so you cant add/remove a large waterbottle from tiny jean pockets, for example. i like to think it only works when august himself pulls something out or puts something in. so. yknow. "not a penny was there in it, only ribbon round it". hehe

hes 25 because as much as a harp on bsd i also suck with ages so i rng-ed a number between 21 and 27 chcbdj

his birthday is june 21st! stole that from james orchard halliwell (see where that came from now) phillipps, bc he was the first to record the nursery rhyme. i also think him being born on the summer solstice in june but being named august is soo funny.

forgot to add it in correctly but his height is 5'8! that's about 173 cm? i think? i rounded it up technically its only like. 172.72?

168??? pounds??? which is apparently like 76kg? look i have no clue how weights work either i just took my own weight looked up the average for an adult and made something up. dont expect it to make sense.

bloodtype is a! i thought it was weird that the blood types were mentioned at all in the character bios but then i remembered the whole stereotype thing so i just picked whatever i thought fit.

he likes goldfish (hence the socks and earrings), rice (its rice), and hats (because they are so neat)! i was thinking about funny sock patterns and then i was looking at the wiki page for catherine maria fischer (the supposed kitty fisher in the nursery rhyme) and one of her paintings had a fishbowl in it. and then i thought about yoimiya because i had been drawing her before and. yknow. he definitely does has a small hat collection, but he'd rather them not be damaged at work. theyre saved for parties and formal gatherings!

dislikes are long explanations, pollen (allergy 😔), and unpleasant textures (like bedsheets that give you the Feeling when you scratch them). he likes it when people get to the point, and im projecting my own sensory issues onto him hxjsj

moving on we have design notes!

so here's our boy.

starting with the shirt, its actually based on one of the shirts i own. it's got the solid torso and the loose sheer sleeves, and i thought that was neat! though for him i think the sleeves would be a bit more opaque, and he's wearing a vest!

as for the tie you can see i noted that it's a bit of a cross between a criss cross tie and like... a sailor tie? i know it says bolo but thats because the word i was looking for was Tie Brooch for the pendant in the middle.

the cargo shorts!!! so obviously to best use his ability august needs something with rather large pockets, but i didn't know how to add those in. initially i wanted to go with some tights or normal slacks and have him wear a hoodie, but it was kind of... eh? so i tried cargo pants but those didn't work either. so then i tried on shorts and i Realized what needed to be done fhdjjws

knee high socks! i asked what how silly we should get with them and eni said knee highs and nobody said ankle with silly patterns so i combined the two! i think the combination is really funny.

the shoes! theyre just sneakers. comfy!

the earrings! theyre little fishies! initially i had different earrings planned but i wanted the fish socks to match with something hdhdhdh

okay so i just finished my first rewatch of soul eater and. sometime after the first time i watched it i heard that the ending was disappointing bc it was different from the manga ending. so i was watching the ending more critically this time and thinking about what it might be lacking so. i wanna talk about it. keep in mind that i havent read the manga, i have no idea what the manga ending is, i dont even know if the manga ending is actually better than the anime ending. im just speculating on what a better ending might look like based on whats in the anime. spoilers ahead!

first of all. extremely odd that black star didnt have a big moment in the kishin fight. kid gets a HUGE power up (which has its own problems- namely it comes out of nowhere, goes largely unexplained, and generally feels a bit rushed) but black star gets NOTHING. kid passes out, black star realizes the kishin is still standing and has a one-liner about surpassing god (classic) and then it cuts to maka and soul. but once maka and soul wake up black star is just already knocked out on the ground. so he got his ass kicked.... off screen???? i know he kinda had his big character moment during the mifune fight, but kid actually had a very similar big character moment, when fetching the final magic tool for his dad, and the kishin fight was an extension of that! kids big conflict was doubting what his dad was up to, and that gets resolved when he finally gets answers. but the kishin fight is a demonstration of that growth - he regrets doubting his dad and wants to live up to his family name by defeating the kishin, so he goes all out. while the arc is technically already complete, this ending scene really ties it up nicely. and it feels like black star should be the same! he makes his definitive declaration about carving his own path, he masters the demon sword, and he defeats mifune, but he doesnt really realize any of that potential the way kid does? he barely even uses the demon sword after apparently mastering it, aside from landing the final blow against mifune. it feels like it should manifest in a big powerup in the final fight, as a demonstration of growth, the same way it did for kid, so i strongly suspect there was originally something there and they cut it for time. maybe they beefed up the mifune fight to make up for it? i really dont know. but either way, having him get defeated off screen during the climax feels like an odd choice.

another thing is maka turning out to be a weapon. i dont think its a bad choice, per se, but the way its implemented just doesnt work very well? it kinda just comes out of nowhere and nothing comes of it. i think it was meant to be a fakeout, but there was already the fakeout with the anti magic wavelength and the way maka just shuts her fear out by going unconscious feels directly contrary to the message of the show. which could be used to reinforce the message, and i suppose having it not work against the kishin does that to a certain extent, but idk it just feels underdeveloped. personally, i would completely remove this bit, but it does have potential! i mean, her dad is a weapon. its not like there isnt a precedent for it. i just wish they explored it more or tied it into the narrative properly

now. in terms of the actual resolution. i think the message itself fits with the rest of the show - it has been well established that makas strength lies in fighting through her fear, and having her face off against someone who is controlled by fear and needs to eliminate everything he fears in order to feel strong is a very strong narrative choice! the bravery vs madness bit is very solid in my opinion. and i like the fakeout with the anti magic wavelength - the concept that madness isnt actually magical, or even evil, is really really cool! especially if you explore the implications of the madness wavelengths or the madness amplifier - something something the kishin being released causes fear and chaos to spread and thats what the madness wavelength represents. however, at this point im doing a lot of the shows work for it. none of this is foreshadowed, or even explored at all until the very end of the show, and it isnt well developed at all. the fakeout itself has potential, but there should be like a full episode of content after that, exploring the actual nature of the kishin and madness and bravery and their opposing relationships to fear. theres some really really good stuff here but none of it is explained well enough to be effective, and as a result the ending feels rushed and the win doesnt feel deserved.

one last thing. i think it was a poor choice for maka to defeat the kishin singlehandedly. i think about the line lord death has about asura, about how back in the day they all wanted to help asura with his anxiety and help give him courage but he couldnt trust them and betrayed his own partner and was consumed by madness etc etc. and asura also kills arachne specifically because he has affection for her and that uncertainty stresses him out. so i think theres a really strong message about, like, the power of friendship here. and yes this is shown by all the people on the sidelines watching maka and believing in her but idk. i think the message would be stronger if she had to rely on them even in the final battle. fighting through the fear is easier when you have a little faith in your friends. that kinda thing. yknow? like maka can still be the key to victory but if her strength is in teamwork and bravery and having the will to keep fighting even when shes scared then like. have her lead her team to victory! have her inspire them to keep fighting! she can land the final blow but emphasize that she couldnt have done it alone by having her NOT do it alone. do you feel me

anyway. i dont hate the ending or anything, i think its pretty good! but i do think its one of the weakest points of the show, so i dont doubt that the manga ending is better. guess now i have to actually read the manga and find out lmao
