KnB 30-Days Challenge

Day 14 : Favorite Member of Kaijō

Kasamatsu Yukio 💙

Well, it took me quite a few rewatches and quite a lot of thinking to realise that Kasamatsu Yukio is probably the best captain in the entire series, and my favorite Kaijō member. Everything about this guy is amazing.

I will never forget rewatching Season 3, for the millonth time, and finishing the Kaijō-Seirin match and needing... a moment. It suddenly struck me, out of blue, the urge to think more deeply about Yukio. In the matches he has played in Season 3 he showed some amazing qualities that I never seemed to notice before. He showed some incredible skill as a player, he showed how determined, motivated, strong, serious and sensible he is, he also never failed to support his teammates and motivate them to fight. I suddenly needed to rewatch some other matches, and when I did, I just fell in love with this man more. What surprised me the most was how awesome he was on the court, and how I never noticed that? He never allowed himself to loose his cool, for the sake of keeping the good mood and the victorious and undefeatble feel in the team. He is also very serious, focused and, oh, incredibly skilled. When I watched KuroBasu with a friend who is into basketball, after we finished the show, I asked him who his favorite player was. He said Yukio, without hesitation. Why? Because he has polished the most fundamental skills and became a weapon on both the inside and on the outside. He is good at dribbling and getting through opponents, finishing under the rim and scoring with a layup. However, if he is ever stopped or the circumstances don't allow him to score from the inside, he just shoots from the outside, sinking the ball in with ease. After The Generation of Miracles and The Uncrowned Kings, he is one of the best players. What I love about him is how he is extremely courageous. He never hesitated to face opponents who he knew were stronger than him. He literally didn't even think twice before trying to stop players like Daiki and Shōgō. His will and fighting spirit are to not be underestimated!

His past is something that I also somehow ignored at first, and noticed just later. It is pretty tragic, and honestly, ever after thinking about it, I cannot watch the scenes where he cries without needing a moment to let a tear out. He has gone through so much grief, and now he is a captain, and the pillar, of the Kaijō team, respected and known.

Now, I wouldn't be me if I didn't talk about personality at least a little. He is pretty strict and he respects hierarchy, he knows his worth and he demands respect. Usually, those are the only things people know. He is most usually that way, there is no denying in that, but he has another side that people seem to talk about a lot less. It usually gets exposed when he is with, well, girls. He becomes so awkward, shy, blushes heavily and stutters when he tries to speak. He is so frozen up that girls from his class only talk to him by asking him Yes-or-No questions! That is just so unexpected, but also so sweet and maybe even a little cute to imagine! Seriously though, he is really handsome, he is a sportsman, he is a good student, pretty smart, he plays the coolest instrument even, the guitar, he is just so cool, and I know many girls like him. Perhaps, Ryōta should teach him how to be less awkward when he is introduced to a cute girl!

Well, I also want to talk about another aspect of him: his mental strength. After missing a pass that cost Kaijō an important victory, he felt such blame and guilt that he decided he was quitting basketball, something that he was exceptional at, something that he put so much time, effort and love in. However, his coach not only didn't allow him to do that, but he made him the captain of the team. It must have been so hard for him. He surely needed a lot of courage to accept the jersey with the number 4 on it, a lot of strenght to bear the responsibility of leading a team that he previously disappointed, betrayed. Still, after everything, he became who he is now. I also have to mention the Jabberwock-Strky game. The fact that he stayed so calm and composed after he literally got humiliated and made fun of on the court and had enough respect amd decency to offer a handshake and thank his opponents for the game, and in return had to listen to Nash's 'Kill yourselves' talk and get spit on his hand... He didn't deserve that, at all. However, in that scene, he proved how mature he was and showed incredible self-control. His mental strenght is on another level.

aww it was great getting to know you too! i'm so excited since this is my first time participating in something like this, so i'm sure i will love whatever you make <3

when i look for fanworks i look for my favorite characters. when i see edits of my fave characters and how pretty they look it makes me wanna edit them too. i also love bright colors and pastels so i look for those, and pretty fonts. idk what it is but i think fonts that are simple looking can make an edit very pretty!

as i said, i love bright colors, pastels and all. i get so mesmerized when i see bright colored and pastel edits. i would like to see my fave characters too, but whatever you make i will love. i'm very excited!!!

my top 6 fave ships are zosan, bkdk, renga, sasamiya and akafuri.

zoro and sanji have always been my number one ship, they were the first ship i fell in love with. their banter and their dyanamics make me smile and i love that they trust each other even if they don't admit it hehe.

bkdk is my favorite ship right now. idk with the way people have treated us in the past, i still get very nervous to spam how much i love this ship when im not on twitter with my bkdk mutuals. people who are anti bkdk will say how toxic and unhealthy it is and continue to undermine both characters relationship with each other (it honestly gets tiring hearing the same thing after 4 or 5 years) but i love this ship so much. izuku and katsuki's journey was very fascinating to watch. i love izuku standing up for himself and showing katsuki he's not messing around. i love izuku being aware that katsuki has always been big jerk but still sees him as an amazing person. i love how izuku still calls him kacchan and katsuki has never told him to stop calling him that. i love katsuki realizing his weaknesses and growing as a person and taking responsibility for his actions by trying to atone and apologizing, i love how they're both nerds.

im ranting lol, but bkdk is my comfort ship, it brings me much joy. if i could live in heroes rising movie i would!

renga was my obsession since last year. once i got obsessed with that ship, i was on the A03 tag more than i was on the bkdk tag lol. i just love how they both became friends. they're soulmates. literally the sun and moon. two strangers who were alone but found solace in each other.

sasamiya is just adorable. i haven't read any fics of it yet but the way sasaki accepted miyano's interest and wanted to share it with him was so cute. i love how sasaki never pushed miyano for an answer to his confession and just waited until he was ready. i love how miyano took the time to know sasaki and realize how he felt. i love how both miyano and sasaki love each other so much and how flustered they get around each other. my babies <333

akafuri was a ship i got into this year. i was rewatching knb again and their interactions were so funny. even though furihata and akashi literally have like three interactions but those were enough for me to love this ship. the A03 tag is pretty much not active but i did right a fic and i want to write more fics!

Meet the Mod (100 Qs)

When did I start watching Haikyuu: I first watched Haikyuu around 2016, and then rewatched the past thee seasons recently!

Why did I start watching Haikyuu: I can’t honestly remember much, other than I really liked their designs? I never really watched any sports anime before HQ, and wasn’t sure what to expect. I fell in love with the characters though and ended up actually liking volleyball.

Why do I like Haikyuu: CHARACTERS!!! Of course I get hyped during the games, like to an insane amount, but the personalities and backstories and relationship dynamics have me h o o k e d. I would die for these boys and I can’t think of a character I dislike off the top of my head

Manga or Anime: I have trouble reading the manga during the volleyball scenes so I haven’t read more than around 40 chapters

Favorite Episode: It’s hard to pick but Episode 8, Season 2. We get to see a soft baby Tsuki and Yamaguchi, PLUS CAT AND OWL BOYS HARASSING OUR BEAUTIFUL MOON!! I love Tsukishima’s interactions with BokuAkaKuro

Favorite Season: Season Two,, hands down

Favorite Scene: LITERALLY ANY SCENE WHERE HINATA GOES TO EXTREME LENGTHS TO SAVE THE BALL, OR THE FIRST SCENE WHERE WE SEE HIM JUMP AFTER THE BALL THAT GOT FUCKED UP DURING THE SET!! I GET SO H Y P E!!!

Best anime I’ve watched: In my opinion, One Piece. I love One Piece, and is a staple to my childhood and adolescence. I can watch dub or sub it’s so damn good. I love the characters and story so much, it never fails to pull me in. It is hard to first become invested but after the first 300 episodes you’re hooked lmao

Worst anime you’ve watched: Any SoA after the first. The first was okay, I liked it when it first came out and the hype wasn’t too big. It was cute, interesting, and I liked the concept. The following seasons were meaningless, annoying as hell, and they should of left it at the first.

Favorite character from your favorite anime: Perona!!! Least favorite character from your favorite anime: Blackbeard, he disgusts me Best ending of an anime you’ve watched: I mostly watch ongoing animes but I think Your Lie in April was by far the best for me

Worst ending of an anime you’ve watched: Death Note, it pissed me off so badly near the end that I had to stop watching it fully. I like Death Note but fuck off with that ending. They rushed it too fast

Okay so! For general, I recommend One Piece, it’s a bit hard to get into at first but promise it’s worth it!!

For sports anime I recommend: Prince of Stride! Alternative, you might not have seen it yet but the characters are adorable and parkour racing just looks cool??

For romance: Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, I love it so much!!

For cute but action-filled try BNHA!

For cute adorable anime girls singing try LoveLive!

If you like dark and depressing but badass and cool try Kiznaiver!

I could make a huge list of my recommendations but these are the first that come to my mind!
