#i just think bkg being jealous its funny
Text
A favorite bkdk trope of mine is when Bakugou is like, really jealous of Todoroki, not because i like love triangles or Tododeku (in fact, the trope is 100 times better when neither of them are interested in each other like that), but because i think Bakugou projecting his feelings on Todoroki (Plus the potential unnecesary drama so befitting of bkdk) is genuinely funny.
Especially if this happens before Bakugou realizes his feelings
Todoroki:*smiles at deku*
Bakugou:ugh i hate icyhot’s stupid crush on deku, not that i care who that nerd may date or anything so what if the idea of him dating someone else physically hurts thats just annoyance what kind of loser would crush on shitty deku anyway fuck yo- did deku just smile back at that bastard?!

Tdbkdk
i don’t even ship tdbkdk like for some reason i don’t vibe w them but for you I’ll do it rran. but im making tddk metamours deal with it /lh
todoroki is absolutely convinced bkg and him are the best of friends in the entire world right up until the point they start dating. clean friends to lovers. bkg thinks they went from sworn enemies fated to kill each other to sworn enemies dated to kill each other who also happen to be dating
bkdk and tdbk are opposites in that bkdk are that one mushy couple u hate being around. they PDA all the time dekus always hanging off bkg and kissing him and bkg always has an arm around deku or they’re holding hands. while tdbk literally just hang around each other with no indication that they’re dating. everyone thinks they’re just like mild acquaintances but in reality they’re so in love they just hate PDA
tddk may be best friends and they aren’t jealous of each other dating bkg at all but they love to pretend both of those statements are lies. they’ll just go around joke fighting over bkg so much it seems real. deku is the most possessive little shit and todoroki is wrapped around bkgs little finger and oh lord do they compete for blasty boy love. bkg is so done with them
todoroki and bkg can make each other smile the easiest. they just find joy in each other so effortlessly and don’t really smile that often, but they’re always smiling around each other and share the fact that deku is someone else who can make them smile a lot. but todoroki and bkg smile for each other the most it just comes easy
bkdk are so disgustingly in love that sometimes todoroki feels like a third wheel to his own boyfriend. he’s never jealous of course he just knows they’re more overt with their relationship and he’s very secure in his and bkgs relationship. mostly he finds it funny that bkdk are constantly all over each other and ofc todoroki is very glad they’re in such a good place now.

I can't find myself agreeing with bkg stabbing Mido as him "trying to protect OFA's secret" since nothing Mido said was sketchy and he stopped himself already by the time bkg threw his headpiece. It felt like him being petty at anything Mido does like him shouting at him for complimenting Fuyumi's cooking. And maybe I can't get behind it since regardless of his intentions there is always some malice that he has no right to have and considering their history it just makes him more of an asshole.
It’s fine if you have a different interpretation. It was supposed to be just a funny gag, not something to overthink. And if you don’t find it funny, that’s also perfectly fine - for example, I personally don’t find anything Mineta ever does or says funny even though I know we are meant to take it like that.
The truth is, we don’t see any of Bakugou’s reactions before he throws the collar, so your interpretation of him being a petty asshole (which I don’t deny by the way) just for the sake of putting Midoriya down is as valid as mine.
I have interpreted this scene being about not letting the secret of OfA out because the punchline of the joke is this:
Tumblr media
Midoriya finishing his long-winded analysis of Black Whip, undeterred by the shark-fin sticking out of his head.
I think Bakugou being concerned that Deku might let something slip by accident fits with the overall context of their relationship after Deku v Kacchan 2 and also the current story-line. After all, Bakugou himself pieced together the truth using bits and pieces, some of which came from Deku. And he’s visibly mad at him for not keeping his mouth shut.
(And even tells All Might that he can keep the secret better than Deku, the competitive little shit he is).
Tumblr media
He also knows that others may be onto Deku’s multiple quirk as he overheard Todoroki straight-out asking Midoriya about it during the scene that led to the Endeavor internship-arc.

Now in the scene in the current chapter, I think from Kirishima’s question, it’s safe to assume that Deku was already talking about Black Whip (presumably as they are chatting about what new things they are going to show off during class). The scene starts mid-conversation. We have no way of knowing what Deku said up until that point.
Bakugou also knows him well enough that he can tell when Deku is about to start a long-winded analysis - so I think he times his hit to exactly prevent that, because he knows that when Midoriya gets lost in his thoughts, he doesn’t filter himself, and sometimes voices things out loud without realizing it.
So this is why I read the scene the way I read it, but I’m not going tell anyone that their interpretation is wrong, because yeah, it could be that Bakugou is just an irredeemable asshole being violent just for the sake of it, or jealous that his boyfriend, Kirishima is paying attention to Deku or that he’s telling off Deku because he perceives his words as empty boasting.
As for the mopu tofu incident, I think there the context was different. Both Deku and Bakugou reacted differently to the super-tense atmosphere of the Todoroki house. Deku by launching himself into a chicken-analysis, Bakugou by having an angry outburst. It’s literally just showing them being nervous and their different coping mechanisms.
Btw, I’m not saying that Bakugou is justified stabbing people in the head for whatever reason (and he gets called out for it by EVERYONE), I just think that his motivation at that point is different from before when he was pushing Deku around for the sake of putting him down.
And while his intentions may be different, his behavior remains still very much inappropriate.
But I also love this whole running gag where Bakugou is more protective over OfA and more bullish about its possibilities than even Deku and All Might are. He doesn’t do things halfway, and he’s definitely on team OfA.
But like I said, the scene is not that deep, and here I’m writing a superfluous meta of it.
