Messy design notes:

I have mixed feelings over his design. On one hand, the outfit itself looks cool... and on the other hand it turned out to be nothing like what I had envisioned in the beggining 😭 I wanted to stick with muted colors, in the vibes of that pic next to howleen's I guess, but it's like Ruggie's design had a mind of its own, and would always lean to more punk-looking no matter how hard I tried to avoid it, which don't get me wrong- punk style does fit him well, the problem is that I had it reserved for another character already, and I wanted to repeat themes as little as possible between entries of this project.. that just may be my perfectionist side speaking though, and there is no reason why I shouldn't post this version here for the time being! If I don't get tired of working on this series by the time I finish all the main cast's designs, then I suppose I could try to make an alternative version of Ruggie with a slightly different theme! I'd do the same with Jamil's entry since he is yet another character I have mixed feelings about the design lol

Aaaanyway, the mood for chupacabra Ruggie is grunge/thrifted fashion with diy details he would add to make his looks feel unique to him I think? The spikes on his skin, although he can partially control (?) them, still get stuck on cloth every now and then. Nearly all items of his closet are a bit torn from it, but he doesn't mind all that much. I got no particular designs for the pins and badges he wears, maybe except for the brazilian flag and the trans pin which I rlly wanted to include somewhere on his clothes whsdbdshewbdi

The chupacabra's appearance vary from place to place, but for this, I based his looks on how I personally grew up hearing and imagining this creature to be like! Baisically a fucked up looking dog, sometimes with spikes and scales on its body? Yeah 👍

And he remains the same personality-wise in the AU, pretty much! At the moment I can't think of many fun facts or character quirks for him, aside from how impossible it is to take a selfie with him, much to Cater's dismay. He swears he doesn't do it on purpose! The moment the camera clicks his body moves on its own to be out of frame. Ruggie's entire instagram (or whatever the monster high equivalent of that may be) account are either pictures of a moving blur or a vaguely distinguishable sillouette of him, taken from far away and zoomed in 10x

I don't think there's enough discussion of the transmisogynistic voyeurism that's extremely widespread in online spaces. it's definitely a problem offline too but it's become significantly more pervasive and inescapable online.

transmisogynistic voyeurism is an obsession with trans women's internal lives. while traditionally it's usually been focused on our bodies, hormones, sexualities, transitions, and other such aspects that portray us as exotic, artificial, hypersexual mimics of "real" women (this is still largely the case among conservatives), it's taken on a new form in the past several years as society's understanding of transness has slowly improved.

in more recent years, the fascination with trans women and transfemininity, particularly in purportedly progressive spaces, has shifted to focus on the "artificiality" of our womanhood from a sociocultural perspective, rather than from a biological and sexual perspective.

it's become common to see screenshots from 4chan and other similar communities of trans women or transfem eggs posting about their unusual kinks, often with racist or antisemitic undertones. screenshots of ostensibly closeted trans women being transphobic to openly trans people have become commonplace. whenever a trans woman is revealed to be racist or a sexual predator, she becomes the new topic du jour, where everyone has to weigh in and publicly disavow her actions.

you might be thinking, what's the problem with this? after all, shouldn't we be holding racists, antisemites, transphobes, and sexual predators accountable? and while the answer to that question is an unambiguous, resounding "yes!", the problem here is the unusual focus on trans women in particular, and the fact that what's happening doesn't even remotely resemble accountability.

bigotry is not a uniquely transfeminine trait. anyone can be a bigot. however, by and large, even supposed trans allies, people who put "trans women are women" and "terfs dni" in their bio, still secretly see trans women as fundamentally male, due to having been "male socialized" (a notion which very strongly contradicts our own lived experiences). thus, when they see post after post after post of trans women being bigoted, it reifies tme people's beliefs that we are all holders of male privilege who have never had to face oppression before coming out as trans.

this idea is problematic for a number of reasons. first, it denies the experiences of trans women who have been oppressed by other systems before coming out as trans. for example, multiple times in just the past few weeks, I've seen trans women of color accused of being racist, even against people of their own race; as if having to face racism all their lives wasn't bad enough, now they're assumed to be perpetrators of it. however, this idea also ignores the very real effect that transmisogyny has had in shaping our lives, even when we didn't know we were trans ourselves.

when we attempt to talk about this topic - the perception that tme people have of trans women being uniquely bigoted, we are by and large brushed off as seeking to "excuse the actions" of bigoted trans women so that we can be bigoted ourselves. this abject refusal to actually engage with what we are saying to instead paint us as the very people we're constantly made to publicly disavow lest we face social ostracization (even if we have no idea who said people even are) further reifies the stereotype of us as privileged men.

I want you to imagine for a moment if trans men were subjected to this kind of voyeurism instead. on an average day scrolling through tumblr, you'd see a post of a trans man's nsfw blog where he shares posts about how rape should be legal, right alongside his bloodplay and cannibalism kink posts, accusing trans men of normalizing rape and murder. another post would show a screenshot of the trans guy who proclaimed to have been hitler in a past life, accompanied by comments demanding trans men take responsibility by purging their community of people like him. you'd scroll down a little further and see a screenshot of a terf blog with "dysphoric female" in bio where they complain about how a trans man they know has been brainwashed by "gender ideology" with all of the comments hoping they figure out their gender identity but still vehemently disavowing them and asserting they would feel unsafe around such a person even after coming out.

the reason that doesn't happen is because biological essentialism runs rampant even in queer spaces. trans men, who were afab, are often presumed to be incapable of harm due to having been "female socialized". trans men don't have their kinks publicly shared to paint them as dangerous because they're generally assumed to be victims of sexual violence, not perpetrators. trans men aren't collectively held accountable for the actions of one trans man they don't even know because a trans man doing harm is believed to be an anomaly, and thus can be dealt with on an individual basis. that last example is especially laughable, because trans men who were formerly terfs are often lauded as heroes for sharing their stories and offered condolences for having been victims of "cult brainwashing".

the fact that this kind of voyeurism does happen to trans women is because, having been amab, we are presumed to be the perpetrators of harm rather than victims. that's not to say that trans women can't be bigoted or dangerous; clearly they can, or else this kind of voyeurism couldn't exist in the first place.

trans women can be racist, trans women can be antisemitic, trans women can be transphobic, trans women can be sexual predators, and so on. these things are all true. however, they are not more likely to be true of trans women than of other demographics. that's the point I'm trying to make here.

stop and consider for a moment, what accountability actually means. are racist, antisemitic trans women being held accountable when you share screenshots of the bigotry they post anonymously on 4chan? does that screenshot you reblogged of an assumed transfem egg being transphobic to an out trans person hold them responsible for their transphobia? is that racist trans woman who's a convicted sexual predator sentenced to prison being held accountable when you share detailed documentaries about her crimes? are they facing consequences for their actions because of you raising awareness about them?

in the vast majority of cases, the answer is no. what's really happening is that you're raising outrage about trans women, and demanding that all of us publicly disavow and distance ourselves from them, even when we have no idea who they are, so that you won't come after us next. you're upholding the idea that trans women hold a "male privilege debt" that we can never fully repay but must endlessly strive to repay regardless. this obsession with our perceived socially male traits has got to stop.

Chapter Two

To put it lightly, Damien Wayne did not like his new classmates. That shouldn't have meant anything really since he didn't like people in general, (only being able to tolerate a few); but there was something about those two that unnerved him.... a lot. But he couldn't quite tell what it was that did.

Maybe it was their slightly luminescent and unnaturally colored eyes? Or was it their slightly blue/green-tinted skin? Maybe it was their otherworldly beauty? (Seriously no one should be that pretty!!) Probably how when they when they both walked and run they made no noise unless they wanted to be heard. The way their hair moved even without wind? How their laughs didn't sound... fully human?

Honestly, Damien could go on and on with reasons as to why both Samantha Manson and Paulina Sanchez freaked him the fuck out but that wouldn't change the fact that he had to do a group project with them. And it definitely wouldn't change the fact that were in the car with him heading to the manor to start said project.

He didn't understand what his History teacher was thinking pairing him and the new students together for a group project. Maybe it was because of their studious nature? It's only been a couple weeks into the school year and they've already shown themselves to be excellent students. And they did spend a lot of their time in the library either studying or completing assignments. Especially Sanchez who was clearly the more social of the two.

But if that were the case maybe that's why they were partnered together. They were loners who never really talked to anyone and so was he. Did the teacher put them together hoping that they would become friends? Preposterous! Damien Wayne didn't need any friends! He was the Blood Son! The one and only.... The one and only.

He sighed and dropped his head, the lie he repeatedly told himself echoing in his mind. But it wasn't a lie, not exactly anyways. He was the Blood Son. The one and only. It was just that there was once a time when he wasn't. There was once a time when there was another.

He could still remember him so clearly. His laugh, his smile, his sparkling blue eyes that looked exactly like father's. He especially remembered the freckles that littered his skin like the stars did the night sky. Oh how he loved the stars. The stories they told and the histories they held. He loved everything about them.

That's why he wanted for his final memory, his best memory of him to be of them playing together, under the moon and stars that he loved so much.

He shook his head to clear his thoughts. He didn't want to think about him. Not right now anyways. He saved those memories for the rear occasion that you were able to Gotham's night sky. Even if it was just a pinch.

“-ien. Damien.”

His eyes snapped open and saw the two girls staring at him curiously.

“Are you okay?” Manson asked him, some concern could be heard in her voice. “If you aren't feeling well we could start the project-”

“No everything is fine. I was just thinking about some stuff.”

The two girls eyes met each other's then gave the boys an unconvinced look but did not push the matter further. Manson's phone then pinged, she went to answer it frantically.

“Anyways!” Sanchez continued, “We realized that when given this project most people would go with things like the Egyptian pyramids or the Mayan temples but we wanted to do something unique.”

“Unique how?” Damien asked skepticism clear in his voice.

“Well what if we did the histories of certain constellations?” Manson answered, now frantically texting on two phones.

His heart skipped a beat. A small smile appeared on his lips.

“Yeah, that does sound a bit unique.”

The sound of texting in the car got louder and louder and even more frantic as the seconds past by. Both girls looking even more worried. It was now time for Damien to ask the question,

“Are you guys okay?”

Both girls eyes were locked in his directions now. Emotions that he recognized but somewhat couldn't comprehend swirled with in them.

“Yeah we're doing fine but our friend isn't doing so hot.”

“May I can what's wrong?”

Manson's shoulders tensed, a look filled with guilt, worry and confusion graced her features.

“Uhhh, some really bad stuff happened to this friend a couple months ago and now their mental stability is absolute shit-”

“Not that it was any good in the first place.” Sanchez muttered but with seemingly no ill intend.

“But they were moved here to Gotham a couple of weeks ago and was doing very well but I think I fucked up.”

Damien's eyebrows quirked upwards. “Can I asked how?”

“She sent him a picture."

Damien was now very confused to say the least.

All his life Danny has always felt a bit odd. A bit empty. Like massive parts of himself were missing. And that was true if you thought about it. A boy who could barely remember even half of his life was bound to feel like a puzzle with only a few pieces connected. Only a few pieces visible.

if Polaris ends up having his own unique genetic mutation that can be passed down, do you think you'll end up breeding for it on purpose? (assumng it doesn't come with health issues)

Yes and no- "doesn't come with health issues" would require observing Polaris for his entire lifespan before breeding him which is, for obvious reasons, impossible.

The first bronze bird with vitiligo (at the time, called "progressive pied") didn't have health problems as a young bird, and the people who had a say over breeding the bird didn't realize it was an autoimmune condition (despite that. I told them. but I was "new" and The Old Keepers don't listen to New People even though half of them have no idea what the fuck they're talking about when it comes to the science side of genetics/breeding but. I digress). By the time he started having health issues and losing vision, the condition had already been spread to the point that people now have to be careful purchasing bronze birds, because purposeful efforts were made to breed for "progressive pied," which spread it throughout the bronze lines in a lot of places. This also means lines which include bronze (hazel, indigo, platinum, and by proxy purple and opal since those are the other colors in those double colors) are at risk of developing vitiligo.

Now, I have Eclipse (Polaris' likely mother) and my friends in NC have Orion, Major, and had Minor (who passed away from an unrelated infection last fall), and none of them are ill at all, nor showing any sign of degeneration in functionality (like eyesight), nor are Orion's pied markings increasing significantly (all "pied" birds can have slightly different white per year due to feathers being colored by slightly different pigment cells from year to year, but the white shouldn't spread/increase significantly). So that's good.

I'll be watching Polaris' sons as long as I have them (and for the record, he produced them before I noticed this difference in his feathers, because he still had a 2yo train and feathers, it's only after this fall molt that the weird ones started growing in), and Polaris himself. Since he's a blackshoulder, his pattern is going to change significantly until he's around 6 years old. This is normal for BS; typically the marble pattern on their feathers solidifies into solid colors. You can see the marble pattern on the top edge of this feather, and the solid color on the bottom.

That solid color should spread upward and take over the whole feather by 6 years old. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. It's considered a pattern flaw for it to not finish transferring. Indie's BS markings went all the way up his shoulder to his body, the way it's supposed to do, which is a good quality.

I don't know if Polaris' marble will disappear entirely, since his father wasn't BS, just split. I don't know if his variegation will take over instead, or split the feathers or what. I don't know if the variegation will disappear by the time he's 6, which would mean it's probably just an aberrant BS pattern. If it stays, it could still just be an aberration of the white eye gene. But, silver pied came out of an aberrant WE gene.

So... I don't know. I will have to weigh the risks depending on how he develops over the next three years. If I think it's an aberration on a safe gene like BS or WE or a combo or something, then I may see if it will transfer on purpose. It would be really cool to found a new gene, but it would be REALLY UNCOOL to start a fresh health problem. Either way, I'm going to document it carefully.

Demo- Komodo Dragon!

Demo is one of these drangons for 3 reasons. Both are very smart, very dangerous, and let's be honest if demo bit you you'd probably die from some type of infection. (Maybe not, I'm pretty sure he drank hydrogen peroxide in comic 6, and I wholeheartedly believe that can't be a one-time thing).

No, but seriously, I feel like he would be one for some reason.

Engie- Meerkat!

I think Engie would be a meerkat based mainly on the fact that they are insanely skilled builders. Meerkats are known to build super intricate underground homes. It also doesn't hurt that they are social creatures that tend to live in big groups, and are like crazy violent, even though they might not look the part.

Heavy- Rottweiler!

Maybe an obvious choice, but! Just because its obvious doesn't mean it isn't true. Rottweilers are super friendly and loyal to their families but can also be great attack dogs. Rottweilers are strong enough to kill humans, also these dogs are UNITS! They can weigh in at 130 lbs. (58 kg). So I definitely think Heavy would be a rottweiler, or probably any big dog in general.

Medic- Dove! (So original 😮‍💨)

Not that this idea hasn't been done to death, but hear me out! I genuinely think he'd be one. Doves are typically labeled as very clean animals with unique calls. They're also super intelligent and skilled, as we learned through carrier birds. And I think sums up Medic really well!

Scout- African Wild Dog!

Scout definitely matches up with African wild dogs, super fast, agile, and hyper aware, and will run you down at 44 mph (70 kph) and have insane stamina when chasing down prey. They are also amazing at their hunts with an 85% success rate, so I think he'd make a good wild dog :)

Sniper- Owl!

Sniper is 100% an owl, owls can see mice from at least six to seven feet away and have very few vertebrae in their necks, making it easy for them to look in all directions. Owls and other birds of prey would be your best bet to find a sniper in the animal kingdom!

Spy- Ferret!

Spy is a ferret, hands down. Ferrets can be sneaky and very devious. They love to be where they shouldn't and love to mess things up. Also, cute little fact, plus a mini headcanon! (I like to think Spy can dance really well, so similarly to him, ferrets can dance!

Pyro- Echidna!

I picked this wacky little guy for Pyro for two reasons. One, the long nose kind reminds me of Pyro's mask (could be reaching here who knows). And two, they're fireproof, well kind of. See, they can breathe through wildfires, so they don't risk smoke inhalation, which is why most people/animals die, so bonus points again for that nose being like they're mask?

ALSO, THEY ARE SO WEIRD, listen to this

if you’re reviewing neopets, could you review my favorite color, 8bit?

8-bit gets a lot of slack from some people, on the grounds that none of the 8-bit pets are technically 8-bit. I'm not a pixel artist so I don't feel qualified to talk about the specifics, but basically 8-bit sprites have specific size and color limitations that none of the 8-bit Neopet designs do. Some pets also have other issues, like having half-pixels or uneven pixel sizes, which shouldn't happen for obvious reasons (see: the Kacheek's face below).

Personally, I don't think this is a problem, seeing as it's just a color and most of the issues with it aren't noticeable to non-pixel artists—but I do think the color should have been named "pixel" instead of 8-bit, which would've at least been more accurate.

Another issue with 8-bit pets tends to be inconsistency. Some are forward-facing. Some are in profile. Some don't wear clothes. Some wear clothes but just a t-shirt and pants. Some have clothes but it's an entire fantasy outfit. Some have shading. Some don't. Some have detailed pixel work. Some have very simple pixel work. You get the point. Every color is going to be variable depending on what artist worked on it, but usually there's more of an attempt to have some consistency with the style.

Overall, though, I do like it as a color. It's fun, it's interesting, and it's very unique compared to literally any other pet colour.

Favorite Species:

Uni: I hear a lot of people say that the 8-bit Uni is awful, but I don't care. I love it and its stupid little grin and stupid little pose. It's by no means the best looking 8-bit pet, but it's by far the most charming in my book. My only nitpick is that the perfectly square butt is a bit strange compared to the rest of the body.

Cybunny: While once again not the most technically impressive 8-bit pet, i do really like this one. It's super cute, and while it's obviously not accurate to real 8-bit sprites I do feel like it gives off a really nice retro vibe. All of the pixel sizes seem to be pretty correct as well, and the colors are nice. No clothes, but then again, do you really need them?

Tonu: When I say there are more impressive 8-bit pets out there, this is what I'm referring to. The recently released 8-bit Tonu has an incredible amount of detail in its sprite work, including multiple layers of shading and very small, detailed pixels. It's completely different compared to the Uni and Cybunny above, and while not as charming or half as retro, it is quite beautiful.

The other thing that's really nice about the 8-bit Tonu is that it has a very pretty rainbow palette, with a completely different horn and tail than the species usually sports. I honestly have no clue why, but it's very unique and keeps it from being too "Neopet but slightly pixelated"-ish. As a bonus, the rainbow parts are removable if you really don't vibe with them.

BONUS: hehe clown :)

Least Favorite Species:

Korbat: Why is the shading so weirdly detailed on the face but not on the feet or tail. Why does the dress not match the palette of anything else in the design. Why the colored outlines. Why does it look like Piglet from Winnie the Pooh. These questions and more will not be answered.

Loona

As another Hellborn she finally has someone to relate to. She's not usually a fan of bright things but your feathers have her enchanted.

She totally blares her music with you, especially her favorite song "I Like It" and she goes skateboarding and lets you watch.

When she invites Octavia over the princess is stunned by your colors, you're prismatic. She adores your tail and likes what it can do. Both women are absolutely in love with your feathers, talons and tail.

and this isnt even a "oh saber is good i swear!" type thing but like. fate's been around for almost two decades now and has had tons of media made with plenty of recurring motifs and thematics that are acknowledged by the writers who are incredibly vocal fans of the series so if you're going into a long established franchise and complaining about long standing injokes and long standing patterns it comes across less as poining out the flaws in a billion dollar company and more like you just dont like that you didnt get it at first? takeuchi samefaceness isnt a problem unique to takeuchi and there are thousands of artists who have the same issue and even then a bunch of the saberfaces werent even drawn by takeuchi at first (nero was wada and jeanne & mordred was konoe) so them playing off the saberface jokes with designs isnt even that agregious because even if they have similar colors you'd have to be reading it in bad faith to say that the fgo artoria and fgo jeannes takeuchi designs are the exact same. an artist can have a style to how they draw their characters and just because there is overlap does not automatically equate that to having lazy designs.

more than anything saberfacing is part of nasuverse iconography, when a character is a saberface it isnt just about selling the design it is in fact an intentional design choice that tells you about the themeing of the character. im not going to say that nasuverse lore is sacred because it definitely isnt and they are in fact just doing what they think is cool but when you have nasu literally adding a chapter for limbo because he thought hasendows design was so beautiful it shouldn't be limited to a single appearance and then had that expanded into one of the more popular story chapters that tells you that these are creators who do pay attention to the designs that go into their characters. the same applies to chica umenos oberon, to wada and redrops designs and so many more, they absolutely care about the art that goes into their series.

I'm not gonna tell you that you must absolutely do your homework to enjoy any piece of fate media we are all free to do literally whatever we want forever and -clenches fist- you can also enjoy it in any type of way even in a surface level way. but when you acknowledge that a series is long standing with deeper themes acknowledged by its long standing playerbase and that the writers have so much passion for their own work (for better or worse, again nasuverse is absolutely not immune to criticism), saying that it comes across as disingenuous to have a recurring character design injoke because its heavily popular now despite not being popular once upon a time in itself comes across as disingenuous. nasuverse stuff being born of niche doujin circles and still being in touch with those roots isnt some kind of disqualification of the existence of saberfaces or the reasons behind them. when we ask you to read fate stay night its literally because we want you to enjoy it More so that you can, in fact, understand why saberface is a thing to begin with. being a popular franchise nowadays doesnt remove any of that charm unless you're specifically ignoring them. we literally have bbs profile in fgo say 'if you want to understand her deal and the deal of other similar characters read fate extra ccc' (bb herself being a sakuraface) so like theyre fully forward about the most accessible entrypoint into the franchise having a ton of history behind it

Going through the wiki pages and in-game books for all the critters for the phylogeny thing, I've tried not to fall into the "ugh eso lore sucks it shouldn't be canon" vibe, because there's really no reason to feel that way about the stuff added to or presented in the game, but I keep finding myself irritated by eso's creature lore. Despite the fact that I love the environments of the game (so far). And I think I've boiled it down to a few reasons after some reflection:

They tend to put the same creature in multiple provinces, which is fine because obviously that happens (some species are generalists that can be anywhere, species aren't going to respect arbitrary man-made borders, etc.) but is kinda lame when it comes to species that really feel like they should otherwise be unique to a place or when they put the same species in very different environments on opposite sides of the continent. (Please keep morrowind creatures in morrowind only, I'm begging you zos). I can't be too upset about it because I get that it's a symptom of game design that I don't want to fault the game designers for just because it cheapens things for me personally, but I do find it kinda lame, to be frank. I also don't really know whether to include the eso ranges of species or go with my own ideas for them.

Some of the pet and mount variations make it so there's like, 20 versions of one clade of animal (e.g. horses, dogs, wolves, cervids, etc.) but we know nothing about them as actual animals outside of a little blurb. While the blurb usually indicates something about their evolutionary history or natural history (which is nice), I'm still kinda hesitant to include them because once again they feel like they sort of cheapen things. Some of them are also those colorful mmo shlock too, which I personally think don't fit tes's aesthetic very well. But I also don't want to pick and chose which ones I include. So I'm not sure how to approach those. Right now my policy on it is to not include mounts/pets unless they also show up somewhere else.

Plot: loosely inspired by the myth, I've done some changes to fit what I had in mind when I started writing the story.

Persephone's POV

You loved your life around the forest, you really did. You didn't know much of the world outside from your home but you've heard tales from far away lands. How you'd love to explore the vast world and find new places to call yours too. You'd think that would happen by creating beautiful memories there, and that's what you wanna do when you'll start travelling. If you ever will that is, because Artemis can be a bit overprotective over her nymphs to say the least. Especially you, for some reason. But you've gone on many trips so far...in your imagination at least. The places seemed magical there, almost too good to be true. Well, they weren't true to begin with and they probably aren't like that in real life. So maybe imagining them might be for the best. You'd get too disappointed if you saw them and they weren't nearly as good as you thought they'd be. But keeping yourself surrounded by your thoughts lead you to this. Your only escape, your fantasies. Your mind even wondered in places it shouldn't, at least for a nymph. You are supposed to be a chaste pure demi goddess and to never crave lust. You don't, you really don't. But what about love? Is it off the charts for you too? Should it always be combined with lust somehow? You have many questions regarding love. They will probably remain unanswered because you can't bring yourself to ask Artemis about them. Artemis has shown you the sweetest and most caring side she has, but crossing her lines can be a scary thing. She doesn't forgive easily and she doesn't accept any sort of disrespect either. You'd dishonor her by being a love sick little puppy. Love and Lust start with the same letter after all. Only one breath away. Sometimes one comes first than the other but they do come together often. At least that's what your guess would be, because you haven't experience any of them. But you want to, you want to love. However maybe you can change the type of love you want, maybe that would fit your position better. To swipe the longing for eros to agape for the nature you're surrounded by, the animals, the fellow Nymphs. Maybe you'd feel satisfied enough then, or at least it wouldn't hurt as much as it does now.

"Where are you going little troublemaker?" You questioned when your favorite bird, a little yellow bird started flying away. You wanted to follow it for a bit to see where it was going again. You called it Melodia because it has the most melodic voice you've heard. But Chaos might have been more fitting because it keeps on leaving you for days at a time, making you worried over it's well being. Maybe you'd get your answers today.

You made your way towards Melodia and it was going slower than usual, almost as if it was waiting for you. Maybe that's the friend you'd explore the world with, it'd be an honor. You took a closer look at the flowers around you and gasped when you saw your favorite one, Impatiens. It's not a native plant, it comes from Africa, but Artemis was gifted one years ago and she fell in love with its unique beauty. They are so beautiful but discreet at the same time, like her. Vibrant colors contrasting the green leaves, and no scent left behind. A pleasure to the eye to say the least. Their beauty is enough to draw the attention, without carrying any scent. Those plants don't need a lot of water which makes them easy to maintain but they look particularly sad today you thought. If you'll find a lake or river, you're gonna water them. There is probably a body of water around given the greenery around you. Even if there isn't, you will just follow the same route back. It's gonna be fine. After around 20 minutes of walking, you stumbled across a lake. Finally! Your risky journey was worth it.

"Where is Melodia?" You murmured under your breath.

Here it is again, this ungrateful little creature abounded you again. You think you might be able to figure out how to make a self made bucket to get water to your plants. But you didn't have the instruments for that either. Maybe you should have paid more attention to Hephaestus' lessons on how to survive in the wild. You heard a sound, someone or something stepped on a broken brunch and it made a very obvious sound, suggesting that it's rather *something*. You turned around but it was nowhere, maybe it was your imagination. It was the first time you wandered that far from home and this has you on your toes. You decided to move closer to the lake and stare at the crystal clear waters which reflected the Mediterranean sun perfectly. Your hand was inside the water in no time, washing your hands and face to refresh yourself. You weren't used to being under the sun for so long, but it made you feel alive and energized. You were staring at your own reflection, playing with how it looked when you shook your hand and distorting your image. Out of nowhere the water became darker and aggressive, as if it was raining in the middle of the ocean. You got so scared that you stood up, and took a step behind. A loud noise like earthquake was heard and a set of stairs opened up leading somewhere. Where, you had no idea. You gasped and moved even further from the lake but a sound coming from behind you made you turn your head around, this time you really wished it was just your imagination. An enormous wolf was there, running towards your side, in an alarming way. You couldn't think straight because your fight or flight response was activated and you chose the second option and started running towards the stairs. Each one of them closed behind you and turned to water again, saving you from the beast. You felt relieved for a second to be alive but then it hit you. You don't know where you are and you'd guess you are in even greater danger than you were before. You weren't entirely wrong indeed. The love you always pushed aside, even from your little fantasies before bedtime, was about to come closer than ever before. A charming God after all, might be more dangerous than all the wolves combined.

I actually have a unique reason why I can't use tampons and use pads instead!

Tampons make me pass out. Immediately.

Let me explain my tmi story.

Initially, I thought it was just a panic attack because I was freaked out about putting a tampon in. It happened twice, a couple years apart, so I just didn't use tampons. But, somewhere in my early twenties, I was like, I've had sex now and am comfortable with my body and tampons are no longer scary and I'm sick of pads. It was July 4th and I was wearing a cute dress and wedge heels. My sister and mom re-explained how to use them to me and I went and bought some. We went to my dad's house to pick something up and I decided to just do it there.

Now, my family is very open about bodies and sex and things like that, but I didn't mention to my dad that I was trying tampons again because it just didn't occur to me to do so.

I go upstairs, insert the tampon, pull my underwear (with a pad in it just in case) back up, and stand up to look myself in the mirror over the sink.

Immediately, I feel like I'm going to pass out. I've passed out many times in my life and know what it feels like. The color drains from my face, my ears start ringing, I break into a cold sweat, the works. I stumble over to the bathroom room, leaning heavily on the handle, and call for my sister.

Me: "[Sister]!"

Sister: *annoyed* "What?"

Me: *trying not to pass out* "[Sister]!!"

Sister: *more annoyed* "What?!"

Me: *losing steam* "[Sister]...!"

Sister: "Fine! I'm coming."

She takes one look at me and goes, "oh my god."

Thankfully, my sister was a certified nursing assistant and much stronger than me, so she has no trouble moving me back over to the toilet. I'm mumbling that I'm gonna pass out and she's trying to talk to me but I'm having trouble communicating at that point.

Then my head hits the back of the toilet and apparently I twitched weirdly.

My sister screams, "DAD, GET UP HERE!!!"

He comes up the stairs and, remember, he has no idea what's going on. Usually he's very confident in situations like this, but I think because my sister already had a hold of me and he had nothing to do, he just stood there in shock.

A few seconds later, I'm conscious again, but not fully lucid. My sister asks, dead serious, "Do you want me to remove the tampon?" And I say yes.

Hilariously, she tells my dad to turn around, even tho I would not have cared if he saw.

My sister, absolute hero, removes my tampon for me, tosses it, pulls my underwear back up, takes off my heels, and helps me into my bedroom next to the bathroom to lay down in bed.

Eventually my mom comes over to check on me as well while I have water and the a/c going to cool me off. We're all discussing it, trying to figure out what happened.

Panic attack? No, I wasn't nervous at all.

Incorrectly inserted? No, my sister confirmed it looked correct, since she got a look at it.

Toxic shock?? That shouldn't happen immediately tho...

Allergic??? Would I be allergic to cotton only vaginally??????

Unable to figure it out that day, once I was more recovered, we moved on to celebrate the fourth of July.

It was another year or two later, when I had to get my first pap smear as an adult, that I discovered that speculums ALSO make me pass out. They couldn't complete my pap smear because of it.

Was I allergic to cotton and surgical steel only vaginally?????? That made even less sense.

It was when I was seeing a different doctor the next year, this time at Planned Parenthood, for a pap smear that we discovered a probable explanation.

It's probably pressure on a vasovagal nerve, the rectal one specifically.

There's a rectal nerve that they have to be careful about with enemas and colonoscopies because it will sometimes make people pass out, according to this doctor.

But every body is shaped differently and the nerve must be just close enough to the vaginal canal that pressure will activate it. It doesn't help, I later discovered, that my uterus tilts fairly far forward (more than most people's but not outside the norm), so to get to the cervix, a doctor has to use the lip of the speculum to dip under my cervix and tilt it upwards in order to get the pap smear. So they're directly putting pressure downwards, toward that nerve when doing so. It likely doesn't happen during sex or masturbation because the area engorges with blood during arousal and the vaginal canal actually extends, so the pressure downward doesn't penetrate. Plus, during sex, pressure typically doesn't direct downwards anyways.

And that's why I can't use tampons!

I've considered the cups, but those seal with pressure and I worry that would press on the nerve as well. I have since been able to successfully complete a pap smear a couple times with caution, using a smaller speculum, and warning the doctor beforehand, altho I alway feel bad afterwards cuz I get close to passing out and feel nauseous for a while.

btw I also have a VERY VERY VERY tilted uterus (mine's to the point where it causes issues) and I have the same problem re: pap smears. my bro my guy my sis my fam they hurt so fucking bad when ur tilted and i don't think that's very known. my gyno is very apologetic about it but i get horrible cramps for weeks after due to the maneuvering they have to do to get in there.

I can't seem to find anything about this, but I have convinced myself that Vash's new design in Trigun: Stampede is complete with 2 under-the-knee prosthetics. Here's why I think this (spoilers from the original anime and potential spoilers ahead, you have been warned):

Now, Vash having prosthetic anything really isn't a surprise at all (clearly he has his prosthetic arm) so when I first saw his new design, and the trailer, I went, oh he's got two prosthetic legs! That's neat!

But now, as I'm researching his actual design and trying to figure out what things look like at different angles to draw him, I'm wondering... Are they prosthetics? If you've watched this far in Trigun: Stampede you know they haven't mentioned it at all (ep 7) or shown anything regarding that, but that shouldn't surprise anyone. We don't see how bad of shape Vash's body is in the original anime until pretty far in, when it is literally shocking to Meryl (and everyone) how many scars, marks, fabricated parts, etc he has. However, in the original anime, as far as we know he's mostly original except for the arm and some spots. We do see him naked after all.

If in Trigun: Stampede they are trying to shock factor us old fans into amping up this "hey yeah, Vash has taken quite the beating from humanity and is still positive, here's how you can tell" by revealing that x amount of him is actually prosthetic at this point later on in the show, giving him additional (hidden) prosthesis makes sense. We know what we know because of the original anime, and they're giving us parts of the original, things we didn't see that were in the manga, and a fraction of unique ideas.

In terms of fitting with the storyline, having additional prosthesis makes sense and fits.

The only thing I can find against this idea is that he can very clearly bend his foot in a way a prosthesis in our world could not. Obviously this is not very convincing because in his world, his prosthesis mechanisms are very complex, have fully articulated wrists and fingers, and even convert into a firearm when necessary.

Now onto the visual, design reasons why I think he has below-the-ankle prosthesis:

Look at his legs where the pants stop and the grey part starts. They look skinny, don't they? Whereas his arm prosthetic is big and bulky up at the shoulder and goes down to what looks more akin to bone size by the wrist, this same sort of shape would make sense -- but he doesn't need as much because they don't convert into guns or anything like that. The thinnest part of the leg is usually just above the ankle, and since his ankles are in his (high top) boots, you would think his legs would be a bit thicker there if you were to believe they are organic.

When seeing him from this angle, you can see that there's a lot of play between his leg (the grey) and his boot. If they're tied tight (and up to the top like we see in the first photo) shouldn't they press a bit more against his leg?

Let's compare him against one of our other characters. Wolfwood clearly has organic legs (as noted by the color and ankle etc, as far as we know there aren't all organic looking prosthetics in this world, it's not GitS after all), but our twink boy Vash still has skinnier legs than him -- and even Meryl.

But, when compared against Livio who is ???? prosthetic, I mean Livio has tiny ankles. We assume that his legs aren't prosthetic, though, so we'll put a point down for "stylistic choice."

Note also the play between his pants and the grey part on his leg. There does seem to be a gap there. Additionally, based on the shaped beneath the pants, it doesn't feel like "extra gathering of cloth" but instead cloth set over something slightly bulkier than his leg.

Now again, this is all just conjecture on my part -- it is entirely possible that it's just "skinny anime guy drawn skinny" and the grey is actually like, knee high socks or something. But I am totally convinced that new Vash has two amazing prosthetic legs too, and maybe I can convince some people along the way.

Some more unpopular opinions about "I am not Starfire":

Instead of a normal light ginger looking hair color, Mandy's hair should've actually been just as red as Starfire's instead or it should've just been some other kind of unnatural color instead of just normal looking ginger hair. It should've been unique just like how Mar'i's hair glows with purple at the bottom of hers or just like how Blackfire's whole hair is dark blue/dark purple for example, cause like she's supposed to be half Tamaranean! Why does her design look so normal in the book as if she's actually fully human???? So like at least give her an unnatural hair color to make it more believable that she is Tamaranean!!! It also would've gave much more of a better reason for why she dyed her hair full on black because her natural Tamaranean hair color easily shows that she's Starfire's daughter, cause if she has normal ginger hair, no one's gonna just look at her and think like "Yep! That's definitely Starfire's daughter because she has natural ginger hair." Cause it just looks too normal to even make that kind of connection! Especially with her very human appearance already!

One time while reading this book, as I was observing the artstyle throughout all of the pages (cause that's literally the only best thing about the dang book), I had noticed that Mandy's pupils actually had a darker green coloring in it instead of black and I thought to myself "Oh, wow, that's a really cool little detail that they gave to her, especially since her design already looks so much like a human instead of a Tamaranean. I really like that" ..... But then after looking at the other characters eye's, I soon found out that the same thing was done with them as a part of the artstyle and then I was just like "😑 Oh...okay, whatever than I guess." So after that, I feel like that's how her eye's should've actually naturally been as a part of her design instead, since she's Starfire's daughter, especially because it had looked like a really interesting little detail for her before I had found out that it was actually just a part of the artstyle

There's this brought up flashback moment in the book (that no one talks about at all for some reason) where Starfire gives Kid!Mandy a bag of wet soaked bread so that she could give it to Claire (who was still just a friend to her during that time) as a gift for her birthday when she goes over to her house, cause it's supposed to be a Tamaranean type of gift or something and I was just like "What???? What about an actual weird Tamaranean meal like the one's that she would used to make in the og Teen Titans animated show?? Cause that would've made much more sense as a Tamaranean meal that's supposed to be a friendly gift than just some wet bag of bread."

Cause that's earth food!! I don't remember earth food like bread being on Tamaran at all, so shouldn't it actually just be an original meal made from Tamaran that she could've given to her instead of that???? Especially since I remember hearing that this book is supposed to be inspired by the og animated Teen Titans universe, so an actual home cooked Tamaranean meal would've just made much more sense instead of just trying to do weird things to human food just to make it seem like a "Tamaranean meal"!!

During the scene where Blackfire was threatening Starfire with Mandy, I really hated it when she backed down so fast from her Instead of being the protective warrior that she actually is, cause as nice as Starfire is as a character, she isn't actually a person who will just easily back down from standing up for herself, especially if it's her loved one's who are being endangered at that very moment, cause she will be the type to fight back when that happens, so I imagine that even especially as a Mother she would become very raged to ever see someone in front of her threatening to hurt her daughter, even if it is her evil sister Blackfire who is the one that's threatening her, cause she won't care at all, she's still gonna do what she has to do to protect her child, especially from her sister

I very much also didn't like when they made Starfire obsess so much over Mandy's powers showing up every year on each birthday of her's and waste the whole day in the back yard in front of the sun just to see if something happens, cause I honestly don't believe Starfire would've cared about it that much. I mean she obviously would be curious to know when her childs gonna develop her powers and would want to know if she can use them well and stuff so that she can give her proper training on how to control them better, but she wouldn't be so obsessed about it!! Starfire would've actually made a real birthday party for Mandy to enjoy instead with all of their loved ones there to celebrate it with them (like the Titans for example), instead of doing what she did in the book!

It also actually would've been nicer if they had made her friend Lincoln more interesting as a character instead of just making him be the ears that are just only there to always listen to all of Mandy's daily complaints about every single little thing all the time

I also don't like the scene that was happening while Mandy was at the playground trying to terrify her bullies while Claire was there, because the only reason that scene was made was just so that she can unintentionally foreshadow the battle that happens between her and Blackfire at the end of the book and it just felt a little annoying and unnecessary for it to even be there cause it actually does nothing useful or interesting for the story at all

Dick is obviously the Dad and he knows it too😑 (I know this one isn't really an unpopular opinion but I wanna talk about it anyways)

I mean just look at the way he worries about Mandy here!!!

And then this last panel in the book where he's literally the only one on the roof standing next to Starfire as they BOTH PROUDLY look at Mandy fly away into the sky as a new hero, like he's obviously the Dad, cause why else is he in this scene with Starfire happily enjoying this moment with her if Mandy's not his kid?! They don't even have a close relationship with eachother to explain this, so he is the Dad!!!

Just look at it!!

Like I'm just so dissapointed in the fact that they made him abandon Starfire like that instead of making him actually be a caring Father like he canonly is with his other kids Mar'i and Jake, and actually be there to raise Mandy with her🤦, but it obviously wasn't done that way so that Mandy could have higher and easier free chances of being very disrespectful and rebellious towards her Mother in the whole story, since there's no other parent (which is Dick) to help Starfire out in stopping that kind of unnecessary and unkind behavior and teach her that's not the way for her to treat her Mom at all

Concept for my own TDAU oc

May I present to you my own TDAU oc. Vinzie The Offensive Magician! (I can't draw for shit, so for now I'll just explain his design, most details in his design represent something, I'll make an official drawing of his design probably very later on) Now they're a troll with Bluish skin and darker blue hair, their blue hair is mostly covered by his magician hat! And you guessed it they wear the typical black and red magician clothing! They have bruises on their arms and a black eye on their face, with noticeable tear streaks on his cheeks. The part of their hair that isn't covered by his hat is messy and clearly hasn't been combed. Heavy eyebags. He posts on all social media platforms you can think of. Under the name of @offensive_magician_official display name being "Vinziel" his real name (no this isn't a self insert. I just used my own name because of how unique it is). He is very active on his social medias and constantly gets into dramas (on purpose of course) purposefully causing discourse.

Lore Time!! He's non-binary using He/They pronouns and is gay! Now, his parents were very absent when he was a kid, and full on abandoned him in his teens, he was treated like a ghost, no one would notice him, everyone would walk past him. Once he got on steady footing and had a sustainable job, he dated the one and only John Dory! Now John Dory was only dating Vinz to experiment if he's gay or not but it didn't even feel like Vinz was a partner to him since he was pretty much so focused on Brozone, they don't hang out or talk much and if they did John only talks about Brozone, they ended things on a sour note (Mostly on Vinz's side, John didn't feel much after the breakup), now this lead Vinz on a downward slope, no one paid attention to them, not even his ex-partner. Unlike John though their strive for fame and atteu is Self-destructive and not destructive to others.

This led Vinz to do offensive comedy using magic tricks. He'd offend EVERYONE, leftist, rightist, conservatives, the gays, the old and the young, the communist, the capitalist. Nothing was off limits for them to offend. He didn't care about the death threats, he didn't care about the harassment and assault he'd experience in the streets because someone recognized him, ATTENTION IS ATTENTION in their books. The only person keeping him from getting killed was Bruce who was in good terms with them, since whenever John would leave Vinz alone to do Brozone stuff and basically forget he's even there, Bruce would be there to keep him company. Basically he's the reason he isn't completely insane. In real life he's actually very nice and caring, though he is mentally unstable. His online personality is the one where he is offensive.(though that won't last long since his online personality will eventually consume his actual one but for now let's imagine it hasn't). For his relationships Bruce is the only person he's actually close with, and one of the only people to know him personally. (fun fact he once appeared on Satin and Chenille's show, which only lasted 3 minutes before he got kicked out due to the amount of offensive jokes he was making about the twins). In terms of love life they are single, and probably shouldn't even be in a relationship with how unstable he is. He's very good at masking what he feels which is why so many people hate him because they think he's really serious about what he says. He does have some defenders online saying "it's just a joke" or "y'all are snowflakes" the people who defend them are people who think "Joke about everything or joke about nothing" mentality. His offensiveness doesn't stop at jokes by the way. He'd actually do stuff that makes people hate him even more.

Now explaining my choices in his design. Now why a magician you may ask and not a jester or a clown. Well no explanation I just wanted them to be a magician. Their color schemes in their hat and suit are Black and Red. Red represents passion, they're passionate about what they do, he loves the attention, Black means mastery, he's able to offend anyone and anything. The tear streaks on his cheeks represent the endless crying he does off camera, the messy hair explains his messy life of being offensive to gain attention. The bruises represent the assaults and harassment he experiences on a daily basis(yes the way he offends people is JUST that bad) and sometimes it represents his own destructiveness to himself. The blue skin and hair represent his pathetic and sad life. The eyebags represent his lack of sleep thinking of new and unique offensive jokes (this guy makes the most creative offensive joke, he sometimes reuses them but it's mostly new and very creative to the point sometimes people would be more shocked than offended, when a chinese president would die he'd make a joke like "Looks like the dog had rabies").

AUTISTIC MICKEY HEADCANONS????

OF COURSE!! most of these have to do with unique sensory/stimming outlets, but i think they fit well.

never really figured out the whole stimming thing, sometimes when he's excited he will grab ian by the shoulders and shake him. lovingly ofc

bite stim. he bites/chews on things he definitely shouldn't. ian tries to supply chews and even baby teethers at one point but none of it works! mickey bites ian's hands i think, affectionately

he also probably screams/yells really loud even if it's all positive feelings. Ian is like "are you good" and the answer is "yes! look at this thing"

ian lays on top of them when they cuddle bc pressure. maybe mickey gets a weighted blanket eventually but he only uses it when ian is nowhere near and cant lay on him

I think mickey likes play fighting/wrestling as like, a sensory thing? like partner stimming but slightly violent

he doesn't even realize that the reason he's a little bit jumpy/defensive/stressed after going out is bc of sensory overload. he discovers soundproof headphones and it's just great for him

he wears them a lot, and ian will just go on and on talking to him before realizing that he hasn't heard a word

infodumps about really dark shit. like weapons and crime, he just knows a lot about it all. it's a little concerning but ian nods along

vocal stims are the most random shit obviously, mostly bits from songs. ian will sing with him like that one scene from s11

idk what it's called but the whole thing where someone gives someone a cool rock they found as a present? he does that. it's all very much random knick-knacks, but he'll give ian rocks, pieces of colorful glass, bottle caps, can tabs, marbles etc. ian has no idea where he acquires the objects from but he has a glass dish for them

i am of the opinion that all human bodies are inherently beautiful in their own special ways, and also of the opinion that any person should be allowed to change their body however they want it to be, no matter what that change may entail. if someone wants to change the way they look to feel better about themselves, that's great! the way i feel about it doesn't factor into the equation at all.

with that said. i try to encourage people to be healthy. i always think people should make good and healthy choices about their bodies, but i place no shame on people who don't.

for one example, i have never smoked, i don't ever want to smoke, i don't think anyone should ever start smoking, and i think anyone who does smoke shouldn't. it's obviously never that simple, but perhaps more importantly, if someone is a smoker, i place no shame or disgust on them. at most I'll feel pity or worry, depending on the situation, but i have no negative feelings towards people who smoke.

in a similar vein, I've never been very fat. i have been fat, and I'm less fat now than i used to be (and have the stretch marks to prove it), but I've never been fat enough to be called fat outside of the doctor's office calling me overweight. i think fat people are beautiful. i think thin people are beautiful. i think average people are beautiful. i truly don't care how much a person weighs or how tall they are or how much muscle they have or anything like that. every aspect of every person is uniquely beautiful. but if someone who is fat wants to lose weight, i think that's great for them! i wish the best of luck to any person trying to lose weight, whether it be for health reasons or just for personal appearance reasons. if someone is fat and doesn't want to lose weight, that's great too! live your best life! your weight doesn't affect me at all, so i have no right to dictate how you should live. i wish you the best of luck in finding a doctor who doesn't immediately dismiss any health concerns as a result of fat.

for a final example, i brush my teeth twice a day, and floss once a day. i think everybody should try to at least do each once a day. but i don't care about the color of your teeth or the smell of your breath. the former is an appearance thing that i don't care about and which can be colored over if you need or want that for anything, while the latter is only relevant if we're going to be in extremely close proximity. to me, that's irrelevant in most cases - i tend to avoid close contact, as a rule. i think everyone should brush and floss because doing so helps prevent a lot of pain and expense. over the last few weeks I've been getting fillings done and these things cost hundreds of dollars apiece. that's hard when you don't have insurance. and that's to say nothing of the pain - even with anaesthetics, it hurts, and it will hurt for a while after. instead of going through that, though, you can buy a toothbrush, a tube of toothpaste, and a 50yd spool of floss (i use waxed dental tape - it comes in a 55yd box) for less than $10 total. they'll each last at least a few months, with probably the toothpaste needing the most replacement, but it's a far cry better than spending a few thousand dollars to get fillings, or worse, living with constant tooth pain until you finally go to the dentist and discover you need a root canal, which will cost even more and be even more painful.
