this is the third time you've called him today, trying to reach out. the first two times, he had thought he was strong enough to ignore you.

he was wrong. the minute his phone rang out that third time, he practically scrambled over to it just to answer. pathetic.

"you haven't been at work for what,,, almost two weeks now?"

the concern in your voice makes johnathan want to keel over dead instantly– not like he's far from it anyways. he pulls his phone away as he lets out a weak cough. you barely hear it from your end of the call.

"...sick." is all he manages to rasp out, his sore throat preventing him from speaking further. even if he could manage to talk more, he wouldn't know what else to say. how would he tell you? the call ends prematurely. you know you're not going to get more out of him, and he knows that it's better to keep you in the dark about his situation.

to tell you about how his unrequited feelings have manifested into something much more than both of you can handle was completely and absolutely out of the question. how was he supposed to explain he had been coughing up your favourite flowers? johnathan would rather let it kill him.

not only was he humiliated by the sheer intensity of his yearning– he knew you'd end up feeling guilty about it. yet, a part of his heart ached, wishing that he was selfish enough to tell you. maybe seeing you cry over him would give him some semblance of love.

that was an awful thought. he promptly pushed it aside. he'd never want to make you cry.

he could only laugh at how frustrating his situation is. it was inescapable, his fate inevitable and ever nearing– and no one to tell.

he had never felt so alone.

at least i'll have flowers for my funeral, he thought in the deafening silence of his home, finding the energy to let out a weak chuckle over the thought.

a few days after the call, his phone buzzed, receiving a text from you:

i'm coming over'

straightforward, at least.

'what if you get sick?' he messages back, trying to generate excuses to keep you away.

you reply swiftly, before he can come up with anything else, unswayed by the idea of potentially catching his illness which, unbeknownst to you, wasn't really transferable anyways. 'we'll wear masks then. omw.'

lovely. you were stubborn as ever. at least you gave him a heads up.

he noticed you made no attempt to keep your distance from him as you dropped off his little care package.

all neatly put into a little basket was some fresh fruit you had insisted he needed, as you rambled over the importance of vitamin c and immune health, a sweet little card filled with "get better soon"s filled by his coworkers at alchemax most of which he knew probably didn't really care all that much, a few packages of cough drops you had been a sweetheart to actually choose ones which had bearable flavours, a blanket, a few snacks, and... flowers.

if you had known exactly what illness, he doubted this choice would have been made. he stared at them silently, finding some sort of humor in the mortifying irony.

you said an awkward goodbye at his door, about to turn around and head off– before hesitating for a second.

"johnathan?" the way you looked at him, eyes filled with tenderness and worry– maybe it wasn't so bad after all, for you to be the death of him.

"...yeah?"

you didn't say anything further, instead, choosing to communicate through impulsively squeezing him into a tight hug.

you pull away just as quick as it had happened, yet the warmth of your embrace lingered a little longer, even as you headed out the door. something about you caring so much made it hurt more.

johnathan wondered why you even cared, why you were so persistent about looking out for him– knowing that he'd end up watching you slip away from him again, leaving an ache in his heart nothing could remedy.

he couldn't blame you. not sweet, kind, thoughtful you. he was the idiot, the careless fool who yearned for something he couldn't have.

maybe in another life, he thought to himself.

Paulie

Paulie is what the Galley-La likes to refer to as: Chickenshit - All Bark No Bite. He talks big about the game he pulls, particularly after more than a few drinks at Blueno’s bar, but the moment he does get into a relationship? Oh, he’s a certified sap.

He’s a cheesy, sappy, old fashioned romantic with chocolates and a bouquet of roses, writing poems for his love all day but never sending them because he doesn’t feel like they’re worth much. If and when his a partner does find these cute little love notes, and rightfully thinks they’re adorable, Paulie’s going to dissolve where he stands and never recover. His boyfriend teases him about it in subtle ways, quoting lines at him when they’re out in public together, just holding hands down the streets of Water Seven, cuddling with him on the couch at home until Paulie turns bright red at his own, ridiculously saccharine words - the one place he’s been prohibited from doing this, though, is while Paulie’s on the job, because the last time it happened the poor shipwright missed a nail and his thumb was the size of a lime for a week.

He also collapses at arguably very standard PDA.

Buggy

So, so very easy to tease.

Just like Paulie, though to a much more overblown degree, Buggy brags endlessly about how many potential suiters flock to his side inflating his reputation in his gullible follower’s eyes while anyone else easily sees through his façade. Having the man who holds his heart proudly proclaim that he’s an Emperor’s partner is one thing, but to have that emphasis being put on Buggy himself is another entirely. He tries to hide is reaction but at the end of the day this is Buggy we’re talking about, there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that he’s going to fly into the predictable bombastic spiel of,

‘O-Of he’d be glad to wear the title of MY boyfriend, an-anyone would-- I’m the GREAT Buggy-sama! Gyaaahahaha!!’

Face the same complexion as his nose underneath that Buggy hopes to god no one points out, that same boyfriend smiling endearingly at him with his arms crossed from the sidelines. Buggy doesn’t get nearly as flustered as Paulie does with PDA, at least being able to handle having his partner on his lap while he leans back in his throne, but if he’s given any sort open physical affection like kisses, his partner running his hands through those surprisingly luscious locks, or leaning close to whisper sweet praises against the side of Buggy’s neck - the steam from this poor clown’s ears would put the Puffing Tom to shame.

How do you go about planning your story? I want to post my own but I am not into heavy plot and kind of want it to be a slice of life story. Would I need things to be all planned? I hope this isn’t a bother, thank you in advance 😊

the way i plan my story is pretty sporadic! i do try to organize my thoughts and write them down, but there are still a good chunk of scenes which i’ve planned in my head for years, but i've yet to write out lol. i consider my legacy to be a healthy combination of serious storytelling and silly gameplay, and though i do have something of a plot interwoven in the straud legacy, i wouldn’t say it’s extremely plot-heavy, but rather steadily character driven. my story is forwarded by the interactions between the characters, not by the situations with which the characters find themselves apart. without a heavy plot to maintain the tension, heavy character development and interpersonal conflict takes its place. so if you’re more interested in slice of life storytelling, i think that’s something important to consider!

okay, onto the actual process/my advice ig idk i rambled HARD here man lol

originally, i only wrote the dialogue for my scenes, but per isa’s advice, i now use two writing documents: one which details the timeline of events, and another with a brief descriptor of each scene, followed with the characters’ dialogue.

writing document one:

this document is organized by characters. i structure my story in a way where each “sequence” of scenes focuses on one specific straud child on one specific day, then segues into focusing on the next straud child on another day. i typically start with one of the triplets, then work my way down in the order of which child was born first. normally, i wouldn’t recommend doing this, as it does disrupt the linear quality of storytelling, but i have around twenty characters now, ten of which consist of the straud family alone, which means there’s a lot of characters to cover in a small amount of time. characters who all have their own lives, their own hobbies, their own interests, their own friend groups, etc. for me, it’s easier to write this way, as i can isolate the motivations behind each character and each scene while still ensuring that i’m giving each straud child enough screen time!

writing document two:

and this document is where i write the dialogue!! usually i stay pretty close to what’s written in the document, but occasionally while i’m editing, i'll switch the phrasing if i find that the text doesn’t align with the border of the image in a way i find pleasing lol.

i also think it’s really helpful to have a basic foundation of ideas planned. have a beginning, a middle, and an end. have a few random scenes sloppily tossed in between. have an idea of how characters start out, and how they change and grow in their environment. it really helps a lot, knowing where your destination starts and ends!! with those destinations in mind, all that’s left is to meaningfully fill in the gaps. find smaller ways to heighten tension and interpersonal conflict that reaches your end. plant the seeds which inevitably lead to greater ends, find ways to reincorporate miniscule items/phrases/interactions from the past and turn them into larger plot developments. what scenes would heighten tension and interpersonal conflict? what will help express a character’s intentions, motivations, emotions, personality? try to include as many little scenes with those ideas in mind!

for the most part, i do believe that much like an author brainstorms his book, you should brainstorm your sims 4 fanfiction lmfao ;-;. i feel gameplays can usually get away without much (or any) preparation, but stories with the intention of being coherent narratives really do need to be fleshed out in whatever way’s more comfortable for you, so you don’t write yourself into a corner you can’t get yourself out of later. i find this especially important for simblr, as our stories are published online on what i’m assuming is typically a “posted when finished” schedule. we don’t have the luxury of an author, who spends years mulling over their works before releasing it to the public. if you write and post a scene you later find disrupts the narrative, there’s almost no way to fix this, as the scene and each scene succeeding it has already been posted online. i mean, sure, you can delete the posts, make an announcement that those scenes are no longer canon, and that you’re working on rewriting those scenes in the meantime. but, to me, it makes more sense to plan the scenes ahead of time so that you’ve time to decide if any scenes disrupt the story. it’s good to give yourself a little leeway with these things! but overall, just do whatever’s most comfortable to you! i hope my rambles helped, even just a little!! :’))

hi!! i hope you’re having a great day!! i was curious how the bnha boyfies (( deku, bakugo, todoroki, kirishima, denki, sero, shinsou, tamaki, mirio, shindo, monoma, shiggy, dabi + hawks )) would react if their s/o who is selectively clingy w certain people kinda back off suddenly because they just feel.. embarrassed?? like when they were a kid people reacted negatively to their clinginess and would ignore them for it. and they just feel so dumb to show emotion & showing their clinginess? and they feel like they’re being a bother and being annoying too... & suddenly just feel like closing off from the world lol? & like they can just feel really out of place and get negative thoughts that they don’t belong there, X person or a group of ppl in the convo don’t wanna talk to them etc and feel like they don’t belong in the conversation if that makes sense (i get those thoughts especially when i’m in a group i feel like i get overlooked a lot lol and i’ve never really felt included + like i can just feel so overwhelmed sometimes about the amount pf people / crowds or feeling like i’m being judged bc i’m beating myself up mentally abt my insecurities and i just end up most likely having a panic attack and just like tearing up, either crying on the spot or trying to hold it in till i get home). i’ve been feeling like this recently and i’d love to see what they’d do if that’s possible please!! thank you so much!!
