Not to go off on one but I can't believe social media has just repackaged the idea that women are unstable and thick and irresponsible and bad at maths and airheaded and pretty and spend all their money on clothes and make up but because they've slapped a fake feminist buzzword on it and a woman is making the video they've made everyone think it's a new wave of female liberation, I feel like I'm going mad

This is your reminder that Vashti was an antisemite and not your feminist icon and that Esther was likely a child when she was kidnapped and brought to the palace and her marriage to the infamous antisemite Achashverosh is not a love story but a horror story.

It's not like I've ever seen anyone here have any filter for what political messages they reblog, people just see someone talk about a situation in a way that makes them feel like they know who the villain is and press reblog, without question or applying any prior knowledge to their interpretation, especially if it's something that doesn't affect them personally, and especially if it goes against what they think most people believe so they can stick it to the man and feel like they know better. It's not something new and I usually don't hold it against anyone, I'm definitely guilty of it myself, but man does it feel more pervasive than ever now that every 5th post is taking a very confident stance on a war they only know from news and social media, all saying the same thing, enraged that anyone would ever claim otherwise. And it never hit so close to home for me, it was always someone else's problem for me too, someone I didn't know, but this time I got to spend a day wondering if a loved one was still alive, this time I get to be careful in public so I don't get killed for someone else's crimes.
Can we just all (myself included) think a little more, do a little more research before we decide what nuance does or does not exist? I promise you that you're not obligated to post about everything, you're not obligated to have an opinion on everything, and I promise you are going to be wrong sometimes.

One thing I can appreciate about intersectionality is how it can be used to traverse the rifts which seem to separate us.
I know that many people have different experiences with the way they are treated or viewed in society, but I think it's comforting to see that we can find common ground with each other. So, it makes sense for marginalized communities to ally with each other, to communicate with each other, to be co-conspirators for a more just world.

th e REAL lesson of existing in the neath is that you CAN get the cool real nice-looking immortality through some food/drinks but ONLY if you can keep on taking those and anyone who claims otherwise MIGHT JUST BE A CHEAP ASSHOLE TRYING TO SCAM YOU OUT OF YOUR CITY!!
and instead youll just sit there as some kind of '''''not entirely human anymore'''' (clearly bullshit) ''''''''''monstrosity'''''''''' (on an island) and play games with tourists (not even the good card games that could get you the cool immortality and power! !) and be soooo scary and intimidating and get sad and maybe complain at random people in dreams about how guilty you are. because you brought everyone down with you and went for being immortal but it's not even the cool pretty kind of immortal like those other assholes who were born millennia before you and still look alright but noooo You just have to keep on appearing in weird poetry and whatever. and the whole time you're stuck there always grouped with two other guys just because you ruled alongside them a really long time ago

Re: lagoona not being Australian anymore
White Australians are not an underrepresented group in American media. "Underrepresented" doesn't mean "doesn't show up a lot in media", it means "doesn't show up a lot in media compared to how much of the real life population they comprise"
Nothing about being Australian is integral to lagoona's character beyond surface level. It was literally only for the sake of "down under (the sea)" jokes. The important part is that she's an exchange student
The creature from the black lagoon (the film/character lagoona's inspired by) is set in south america
The same goes for abbey not being Russian. Her race/ethnicity was always ambiguous. She IS from the Himalayan region, ie south/central Asia. The russian accent only happened bc mattel wanted her to be a "funny sounding foreigner" but had the sense not to apply that to an asian accent. So they gave her a russian 1 instead, bc american audiences assume russian = white

Lord I realized why Himawari's signature color is Yellow and it goes beyond just her name meaning Sunflower
It's because Hinata's color scheme is Purple and Yellow is opposite to Purple on the Color Wheel 💜 💛
Further showing how opposite foils Hinata and Himawari are to each other
That's a good point. Even though they look alike, Himawari and Hinata were definitely raised with different attitudes about life and themselves.
Actually, let me check something...okay, so obviously chakra in the Naruto-verse isn't the same as Indian chakra, the same way "karma" is only related to the real-world concept in a superficial way.
But I looked at what each color chakra means, and it actually fits each member of the Uzumaki family pretty well.
Purple chakra (Hinata) represents self-realization, or becoming a better version of yourself. Indigo, the clear-vision chakra, also fits the Byakugan princess well, although that sets her off on the color wheel.
Yellow chakra (Himawari) represents self-esteem and confidence in who you already are.
Orange chakra (Naruto) represents emotional intelligence - he's a shonen protagonist, so of course his character arc was about developing bonds.
Blue chakra (Kawaki) represents communication and purification. As the edgy antihero character, communication is something he REALLY needs to work on, with the goal of eventually being purified/redeemed from...whatever the hell he's about to do in the manga. (It also sets him up as Naruto's foil.)
Boruto is a bit of a wildcard, since there is no pink chakra. But pink is closely related to red, and red chakra represents security. Boruto's early arc was about getting over his inferiority complex with Naruto and becoming secure in his own abilities. The pink color also places him in the middle between Naruto and Hinata on the color wheel.
