“Is it ok if we take my bike darlin’?”
“Of course,” you answer with a quick kiss. “You know I love riding with you…but showing up in your pickup truck would be more on par for the fair,” you giggle.
“Yeah, yeah. I still can’t believe you convinced me to go to this,” he grumbles.
“It didn’t take much,” you tease, batting your lashes.
“Well you had me in a compromising position when you asked. I wasn’t exactly thinking with my brain.  I’m pretty sure I would have agreed to anything princess.”
He’s trying to suppress a smile but the more you hold his gaze the more his lips twitch upward.
“We’re going to have a great time,” you state as you pack your bag. “Besides, you never tell me no…no matter what position you’re in.”
You wiggle your shoulders haughtily before asking, “and what’s with calling me princess?”
He slides up behind you, pressing into your body so he has you caged along the counter, his arms on either side of you.
His lips brush the shell of your ear. “Mm you’re right, I never tell you no. Made me think of a princess…”
“And you’re my knight in shining armor,” you giggle, willing your body not to react to him.
Warm and soft lips trail down your neck before meeting your shoulder, his fingers pushing the strap of your dress down so he can continue his path of kisses.
“Thought I was your teddy bear…” he murmurs.
His beard tickles your skin, sending goosebumps running down your arm.
“Joel,” you breathe out, trembling in his hold. “Don’t you dare try to distract me. We are going to the fair.”
Your words come out breathy and much less assertive than you wanted and you feel him smile against your skin.
“Whatever you say princess.”
His other hand smooths down the curve of your waist and he turns you around to face him. His kisses continue to move down your neck, across your collarbone, and he traces the thin edge of the top of your dress, the barest of touches but it leaves a burning heat in its wake.
“Joel.”
It’s a warning but comes out more like a whine.
He takes your chin between his thick fingers and brings your eyes to his, kissing you softly before smiling.
“Ok darlin’. Come on. I’m gonna take you to the fair…”
His warm hand closes around yours and he starts to walk you to the door.
“I feel like there was a but at the end of that sentence,” you say, squeezing his fingers.
“Let’s just hope I can behave while we’re there.”
With a cheeky wink he escorts you out the door, handing you your helmet before throwing a long leg over his bike.
Tumblr media
You practically skip toward the entrance, one of Joel’s hands in yours and his other stuffed into the front pocket of his jeans as you drag him nearer.
“Come on you!”
He takes too long strides and catches up, releasing your hand only to wrap it around your waist and tuck you into his side.
“What are we doin’ first?” he asks with a kiss to the top of your head.
As you approach the fairgrounds, the air is filled with anticipation and a buzz of excitement. Everything is colorful and vibrant from the bright lights and colorful banners to the lively music playing in the background.
You glance at Joel and notice as he takes it all in that he’s rubbing the back of his neck and looking sort of misplaced.
When he catches you staring he huffs lightly. “I stick out like a sore thumb.”
You do nothing to hide the way you blatantly check him out then grab the front of his tight tee shirt and drag his lips down to yours.
“Who cares,” you whisper when you pull away.
Your fingers sneak under the tight sleeves of his tee before sliding down over his biceps. He flexes and you hum appreciatively, pressing closer.
“Now who’s lookin’ to cause a distraction princess,” he growls.
Your teeth dig into your bottom lip and you give him a demure smile.
As you move further onto the grounds, you’re immediately greeted by a plethora of sights and smells. Food stands line the pathways, enticing you with the delightful aroma of freshly cooked and fried treats.
“Somethin’ smells good,” he says, eyeing the ice cream and cotton candy stand.
“Let’s get something!” you cheer as you rush over.
After ordering two popsicles you head over to a picnic table in the shade.
“Do you want some?” you ask as the pop hovers near your mouth.
He keeps his eyes trained on you and waits, watching intensely as you press it to your lips, parting them then sucking it into your mouth.
“Mmmm so good.”
He sits on the bench of the table, his legs spread wide as you settle between them, still working the popsicle in and out of your mouth.
“Princess,” he warns, his eyes dark. “You better stop sucking on that pop like you wish it was my…”
“Joel Miller don’t you dare finish that sentence!” you admonish but make no move to stop the way you’re clearly deep throating your popsicle. “We are at the fair and there are children present.”
Without another word he grabs you around the waist and pulls you down onto his lap, his free hand landing on your bare thigh.
“I’m pretty sure no one would be surprised if I said what I wanted to say darlin’.”
“Yeah, yeah. Big tough guy…tattoos…leather…”
You press your cold lips to his scruffy cheek and then move to take another lick of your popsicle but he grabs your face and turns it so he can give you a proper kiss, parting your lips to taste the flavor on your tongue.
“You done working that popsicle yet?” he asks, brushing his lips lightly along yours.
You push it back into your mouth then pop it out again. “Nope!”
He shifts you on his lap so you can feel how your popsicle eating antics are affecting him.
With a squeak you wiggle your butt and he quickly tightens his hold on your waist to stop you.
“And I thought I was the one who was going to be the problem today,” he simpers.
You shrug like it’s nothing, still sucking on your popsicle.
“Ok, I’m done,” you say, when there’s nothing left but the wooden stick. “Let’s go find a game where you can win me a stuffed animal.”
You hop off his lap and tug on his hand.
“Just gimme a minute princess.”
You giggle and go to sit back down but he blocks you.
“Darlin’,” he grumbles. “That won’t help any.”
Tumblr media
When you discover the games you’re eager to find one in particular and you pull Joel along, pointing out all the cute stuffed animals he can win for you.
“There it is!” you shout.
You rush over to the balloon dart game and try to keep your excitement at bay.
“You’re going to be so good at this,” you tell him. “You always beat the guys at darts at the bar!”
The guy working the booth gives Joel the once over before taking his money. You roll your eyes and press yourself into Joel’s side, giving the guy a mocking smile.
Joel lines up his shot and pulls his arm back to let the dart fly. It lands just above a red balloon. You don’t say anything and just wait as he takes the other two shots.
He misses them both.
“Fucking weighted darts,” he grumbles. “They make it so you can’t win this shit.”
His body is tense and his jaw is set in a hard line.
You hang on to his bicep and whisper in his ear, “one more time…for me? Please?”
He looks at you and his expression softens. “Just for you princess.”
He pays for another round of darts and readies himself again. The first two miss but on his last shot he hits a blue balloon and it explodes in a spray of water.
“Fuck yeah!” he cheers and you join in with a whoop of happiness.
“Which one do you want princess?” he asks as he pulls you in front of him and wraps you in his arms.
“THE BIG PINK UNICORN!” you say excitedly.
The guy at the booth pulls it down and hands it to you.
“What are you gonna name him,” Joel asks.
“Joel.”
He raises a bushy eyebrow. “Really princess.”
“Yep,” you reply, popping the p. “Really, really.”
“He can be best friends with the teddy bear you got me,” you explain as you run your fingers over your new unicorn.
Tumblr media
Having Joel’s bike was the best idea, especially once it came time to catch the evening sunset before fireworks and the two of you are able to meander through the traffic and find a secluded spot on the grass.
You sit comfortably in his embrace, watching the sky transform into a canvas of vibrant colors, the hues of orange, pink and purple beginning to spread across the horizon.
“This is so beautiful,” you say in awe.
He grunts in response.
After a few moments you turn in his arms and snort.
“That’s all you got? Ungh.”
You mimic the noise he made.
He stares at you. “You’re so much more beautiful.”
You stare back and suddenly your eyes go wide and light up in realization.
“OH MY GOD, you’re still grumpy about losing the darts game!”
He looks offended. “I am not darlin’! And besides, I didn’t lose…I won you the unicorn didn’t I?”
You poke his hard chest. “You are so!” you tease. “And I mean it took you two tries…”
“Whatever you say princess,” he mutters, but you can see the corners of his lips turn up slightly.
“And his name is JOEL,” you add, unable to stop your laughter that bubbles up.
He kisses the smile right off your lips but you feel his own before he presses the palm of his hand to your cheek and brushes his thumb across your skin, his eyes soft as he studies your face.
You reach up and lightly drag your fingers across his jaw then run your nose along the same path, your eyes closing as your lips meet in a soft kiss.
The sun descends, its rays illuminating the fairgrounds, casting long shadows and creating a beautiful interplay of light and dark. The rides, food stalls and exhibits start to twinkle, creating a background of sparkling rainbow lights against the deepening sky.
His hands move lower, curling around your waist and sliding you under him until you’re laying back on the blanket beneath him.
As his lips kiss a path down your neck his hand slides up along your inner thigh and he gently pushes your legs part.
“Joel, the fireworks are about to start,” you weakly protest, letting your legs fall open.
“Nothin’ you haven’t seen before,” he murmurs, his hand gliding higher. “And besides, think I’ve behaved for long enough princess.”

20 Questions For Writers
Wow, thank you so much for the tag @fanfictasia !! I've wanted to participate in something like this forever!! 🎶✨️✨️
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Right now? 66.
"Yes, as a star wars writer, I am very proud of that. No, I do not intend to change it anytime soon."
I really need to focus on (and finish) some of my WIPs, and that mean trying not to disperse my energy amidst one shots (no matter how much i love monthly challenges and fic exchange events). Also I'm very proud of that 66 count and want to appreciate it xd.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
321k words!!
(More or less 100k / year 🎶 little me would never believe that 0.0
My school exam results sure don't, with how they are dropping 🤣)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Star wars mostly (Vaderkin or my OC Sinvulkt), then Marvel (Dr Strange), Dream SMP (Dream), Le Visiteur du Future (Renard) and more recently Batman (Bruce Wayne) as well as Avatar: the last airbender (Zuko).
Plus the original stories I am supposed to write but almost never end up doing xd (the engagement in fandom compared to original stories make the switch hard xd).
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
1. Dreamt of a Never Ending Sky (Dream SMP)
2. To Fly Free Under The Morning Sun (Star Wars)
3. On the Edge of Twilight (Star Wars)
4. Scales of Embers (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
5. Crash Landing on Space Australia (Star Wars)
I'll never know how my Dream SMP fic got so much engagement. Good timing at a moment the fandom was in effervescence, I guess. Scales of Embers scoring so high is also a surprise 0.0. I discovered it had that many kudos today. It’s a shame the Dr Strange fandom is small because I think my Dr Strange WIP What If Doctor Strange Lost His Humanity ? would have deserved a place here. It definitely does in my heart.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to! As a reader, I always feel super happy when the author shows that they’ve read and appreciated my comments. I know that personality an author who answers make me more likely to want to drop a comment.
As an author, I absolutely want to show how much I love every single comments, so I try to answer them all. But I get a little overwhelmed sometimes, bcs lots of other stuff going on irl or another reason. As such, it can happen that I don't feel the energy to answer a comment on the spot. And if I don't answer it on the spot (using the power of the wiggy dizzy nice happy feeling of getting a comment), I don't necessarily have the energy to answer later on. I currently have something like 60 unanswered comments I think? TT.TT
But rest assured that whether I answered or not, I absolutely adore and cherish every single ones!! Comments are amazing! ✨️.✨️
(This kind of engagement is one of the only reason I managed to settle into such an active rythm of writing after years of trying then dropping the hobby~)
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Glance at my fics.
Uhhh... This is a hard question here... Many of them have angsty endings XD
Mostly the ones at the beginning (the worst written ones xd). I wonder why~
Also a lot of them don' have endings yet XD
I'll say amidst the 'old' fics from 2021, Day 8 - Screaming (Star Wars) would be the angstier one (or most horrible one ig xd).
But as far as recent fic go... While I haven't finished writing it bcs its wordcount exploded in my face, I already plotted / drafted it a few months ago and I know the ending, so I'll choose:
Batman’s Downfall (To Stand Alone) (Batman)
I noticed my kind of angst doesn’t have much success around these parts 🫠🤣. Oh well. I cherish it all the same :3.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Sometimes I think I wrote too many fics. It's hard to select one.
Uhhh... My fluffiest works are one shots in Of Feathers and Freedom serie, but they are part of the series so it’s not really an 'ending'.
...
I'll answer for the crackiest story rather than the happiest ending bcs all my finished fics ending are ominous open ending at best xd.
The Blob Adventures Of Excentrics Jedi (Star Wars)
Because it's cute blob drawings of our crazy team of OC in taaoej, and I love them (although we are all angst lovers in taaoej, so it's more crack-angst, and we don't know the ending bcs there isn't really one. Not yet at least. Hopefully never).
8. Do you get hate on your fic?
Just my own innervoice as far as I'm aware. But then I've always been rather clueless when people tried to 'hate on me'. The message usually just got lost somewhere in dreamspace immensity, never computing.
I've found the fandoms communities really welcoming at the very least!!
9. Do you write smut?
No.
I don't really enjoy reading smut. Nor romance for the matter. I don't think I'd enjoy writing it.
But maybe I'll try one day, for the sake of experimenting all genres.
10. Do you write crossovers?
I never did. I don't know why. Maybe I just never felt the need to mix characters and universes. There are amazing crossovers out there though, so who knows, maybe one day I'll try one.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of. In all honesty, I don't think my works are nearly popular enough to get stolen xd.
My writing style isn’t that good yet, and my dislike of romance when the majority of the fandom community is ship-powered means I end up in a corner quite niche. (A corner I love, that being said. Yay Crack, Angst and Gen~)
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but maybe I'll translate some of mine in french someday. Be it only so that I do write fiction in my native language from time to time.
Anyone that wanna translate my fics, feel free to!!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
Yes, To Fly Free Under The Morning Sun (Star Wars)!!
I’m still waiting for my co-author @purpleopossum to come back to me / get back in star wars mood to continue that one. 🫠
Can’t say my hopes are that high up after all this time, but it’s the redemption | healing part of the serie and I don’t really have fun writing alone redemption | healing part... i prefer doing the whole mayhem that create the injury in the first place. And with how long some of my fics hiatus are (and I got no excuse for those xd), it’s only fair for me to wait. (I did write more other works for the dragon Vader serie in the meantime xd).
I made an oath to myself to never leave a work unfinished though, so we’ll see. If in several years purple still doesn’t wish to continue it, or if she inform me she is dropping the story, I’ll try to make some kind of ending. It’s part of the game i guess.
Alternatively, the The Amazing Adventures Of Excentrics Jedi universe is a group of star wars OCs that we made together with @pat-the-togorian , @asteral-feileacan , @ct2002-rema and Xylian. I don’t know if that count as co-writing? We usually write our OCs pov.
But in all cases, co-writting is very fun and I’d definitely do it again if other opportunities arise in the future.
14. What‘s your all-time favourite ship?
The absence of ship is my all-time favorite ship. Otherwise, "main character / digging their own grave" would be my 'favorite ship' since I tend to synch with idiots snarky jerks disasters.
15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
To Fly Free Under The Morning Sun (Star Wars) that I mentioned for question 13? 🤣
More seriously, I'll answer On the Edge of Twilight (Star Wars)
Because it's my vent fic. I know the main plot line, I vaguely know the current arc, but no one can predict where the next arc will go. It's all pure impulse and while I have a vague idea of 'ending', I refuse to plan a path towards it. This fic specifically, I want to keep pure impulse. So I'd love for it to become some kind of "The NeverEnding Story". :3
16. What’s your writing strengths?
I write.
No seriously, it's not something I did four years ago appart from vent poems here and there. Writing is in itself a huge writing strenght!
Otherwise I'm also a bottomless well of idea. It's pretty neat.
17. What’s your writing weaknesses?
... romance?
Or dialogues. Lastly I have a lot of frustration around the transition from dialogue / transition / dialogue. I feel like I'm crap at properly timing that.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
It's fun. I do it for games sometimes. Since apparently writing normally is not chllenging enough for my brain sometimes. It did teach me bits of mando'a.
Recently for Sēċan (Star Wars) I decided last minute to put the whole droid dialogue in morse, and I regret none of it.
I'm usually only doing it for one shots though, and never 'official existing' languages until now.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Star wars :p
20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
Now that's another hard question, how am I supposed to select one.
I'm gonna answer the whole Of Feathers And Freedom (Star Wars) serie. Bcs wings. :3
Tag time~ (if you wish to)

I know I tagged. I lot of people. Some of you may recognise my pseud, some may not. But I thought it would be interesting to hear the answer of the various authors with whom I interacted on ao3 over the years, so I went and digged up those with tumblr I could find from my inbox 🤣
(Hopefully I didn’t bother any of you >.< - otherwise I apologize. Same for if I accidentally tagged a non-writer.)
I'd love to hear your answers! 🎶

Our Manhattan
Tumblr media
Summary: An orphan all her life, Y/N is simply too old to remain at The Bowery Home any longer. That is where an anonymous patron has swooped in to send her off to college and all he requires…a monthly letter of her academic progress.
Based off the book and musical “Daddy Long Legs”
Pairing: Bruce Wayne x Reader
last part // series masterlist // next part
Notes: I'm finally getting around to updating this fic! If you would like to catch up and get more consistent updates to this story and others I would go to by AO3!
Tumblr media
24th March, maybe the 25th
Dear Batman,
I don't believe I can be going to Heaven—I am getting such a lot of good things here; it wouldn't be fair to get them hereafter too. Listen to what has happened.
Y/N Abbott has won the short-story contest (a twenty-five dollar prize) that the Monthly holds every year. And she's a Sophomore! The contestants are mostly Seniors. When I saw my name posted, I couldn't quite believe it was true. Maybe I am going to be an author after all. I wish Mrs. Lippett hadn't given me such a silly name—it sounds like an author-ess, doesn't it?
Also I have been chosen for the spring dramatics—As You Like It out of doors. I am going to be Celia, own cousin to Rosalind.
And lastly: Harriet and Barbara and I are going to New York next Friday to do some spring shopping and stay all night and go to the theatre the next day with 'Master Brucie.' He invited us. Harriet is going to stay at home with her family, but Barbara and I are going to stop at the Martha Washington Hotel. Did you ever hear of anything so exciting? I've never been in a hotel in my life, nor in a theatre; except once when the Catholic Church had a festival and invited the orphans, but that wasn't a real play and it doesn't count.
And what do you think we're going to see? Hamlet. Think of that! We studied it for four weeks in Shakespeare class and I know it by heart.
I am so excited over all these prospects that I can scarcely sleep.
Goodbye, Bats.
This is a very entertaining world.
Yours ever,
Judy
PS. I've just looked at the calendar. It's the 28th.
Another postscript.
I saw a street car conductor today with one brown eye and one blue. Wouldn't he make a nice villain for a detective story?

7th April
Dear Batman,
Mercy! Isn't New York big? Worcester is nothing to it. Do you mean to tell me that you actually lived in all that confusion? I don't believe that I shall recover for months from the bewildering effect of two days of it. I can't begin to tell you all the amazing things I've seen; I suppose you know, though, since you live there yourself.
But aren't the streets entertaining? And the people? And the shops? I never saw such lovely things as there are in the windows. It makes you want to devote your life to wearing clothes.
Barbara and Harriet and I went shopping together Saturday morning. Harriet went into the very most gorgeous place I ever saw, white and gold walls and blue carpets and blue silk curtains and gilt chairs. A perfectly beautiful lady with yellow hair and a long black silk trailing gown came to meet us with a welcoming smile. I thought we were paying a social call, and started to shake hands, but it seems we were only buying hats—at least Harriet was. She sat down in “front of a mirror and tried on a dozen, each lovelier than the last, and bought the two loveliest of all.
I can't imagine any joy in life greater than sitting down in front of a mirror and buying any hat you choose without having first to consider the price! There's no doubt about it, Bats; New York would rapidly undermine this fine stoical character which the Bowery Home so patiently built up.
And after we'd finished our shopping, we met Master Bruce at Sherry's. I suppose you've been in Sherry's? Picture that, then picture the dining room of the Bowery Home with its oilcloth-covered tables, and white crockery that you can't break, and wooden-handled knives and forks; and fancy the way I felt!
I ate my fish with the wrong fork, but the waiter very kindly gave me another so that nobody noticed.
And after luncheon we went to the theatre—it was dazzling, marvellous, unbelievable—I dream about it every night.
Isn't Shakespeare wonderful?
Hamlet is so much better on the stage than when we analyze it in class; I “appreciated it before, but now, dear me!
I think, if you don't mind, that I'd rather be an actress than a writer. Wouldn't you like me to leave college and go into a dramatic school? And then I'll send you a box for all my performances, and smile at you across the footlights. Only wear a red rose in your buttonhole, please, so I'll surely smile at the right man. It would be an awfully embarrassing mistake if I picked out the wrong one.
We came back Saturday night and had our dinner in the train, at little tables with pink lamps. I never heard of meals being served in trains before, and I inadvertently said so.
'Where on earth were you brought up?' said Harriet to me.
'In a village,' said I meekly, to Harriet.
'But didn't you ever travel?' said she to me.
'Not till I came to college, and then it was only a hundred and sixty miles and we didn't eat,' said I to her.
She's getting quite interested in me, because I say such funny things. I try hard not to, but they do pop out when I'm surprised—and I'm surprised most “of the time. It's a dizzying experience, to pass eighteen years in the Bowery Home, and then suddenly to be plunged into the WORLD.
But I'm getting acclimated. I don't make such awful mistakes as I did; and I don't feel uncomfortable anymore with the other girls. I used to squirm whenever people looked at me. I felt as though they saw right through my sham new clothes to the checked ginghams underneath. But I'm not letting the ginghams bother me anymore. Sufficient unto yesterday is the evil thereof.
I forgot to tell you about our flowers. Master Bruce gave us each a big bunch of violets and lilies-of-the-valley. Wasn't that sweet of him? I never used to care much for men—judging by Trustees—but I'm changing my mind.
Yours always,
Y/N

10th April
Dear Mr. Rich-Man,
Here's your cheque for fifty dollars. Thank you very much, but I do not feel that I can keep it. My allowance is sufficient to afford all of the hats that I need. I am sorry that I wrote all that silly stuff about the millinery shop; it's just that I had never seen anything like it before.
However, I wasn't begging! And I would rather not accept any more charity than I have to.
Sincerely yours,
Y/N Abbott
Tumblr media
Bruce stared down at the check. He had barely thought about it when they had been out in the city and once Y/n had sent the letter, he’d dispatched the check without a second thought.
Clark Kent, who had been present during the discussion about Y/N's shopping woes, entered the study with a knowing expression. "Having trouble with the whole 'helping' thing?" Clark quipped, a  smile playing on his lips.
Bruce sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I just wanted to make things a bit easier for her. She didn't have to return the check."
Clark leaned against the desk, crossing his arms. "Bruce, you know Y/N at this point. She's independent and proud. Accepting help might not come naturally to her, especially from someone like you."
Bruce frowned, the frustration evident in his eyes. "But I want to help. She shouldn't have to feel lesser than her peers."
Clark nodded, understanding Bruce's genuine concern. "Maybe it's not about the help itself, but how it's offered. Try sending her a letter with a short note explaining why you sent the check. Make it personal. Sometimes, a few carefully chosen words can make a big difference."
Bruce considered Clark's suggestion, recognizing the wisdom in his friend's advice. "You think that might work?"
"Y/N's a writer, Bruce. Words matter to her. A thoughtful note can make the gesture feel less like charity and more like a friend looking out for another," Clark explained.
Taking a deep breath, Bruce reached for a pen and paper.
Miss Abbott, I go against my rules by penning this letter but I find myself unable to let this matter go. This check is not charity but a gift from a friend who wishes to see you excel in all matters. I wish you to be able to experience all that your peers are able to. I have never sponsored a woman before and I confess that I lack the knowledge to ensure that you are equal to your peers.  I kindly request that you keep this cheque as an apology for my own failings as your patron.  Mr. Smith
As Bruce sealed the letter, he handed it to Alfred, who was passing by. "Alfred, make sure this gets to Miss Abbott. And let's hope this time, she accepts it."

monthly media recap: october 2023
read:
The Trial of Sir Kay + Exiled from Camelot by Cherith Baldry - putting them together because the first one is just a short story. Two Arthuriana retellings focused on Kay, and both of them amazing; the author's vision of the characters might've sometimes differed from mine, but the characterization was great in any case, and the writing is beautiful. Loved what the second book did with Brisane, and Gareth was such a sweetheart (as he should be, alright, Gerald Morris?!). And, of course, Kay. Good for him. He deserves appreciation
Vaidelote by Aspazija - a beautiful play; would love to see it performed on stage, and preferably in a non-modernized staging with the costumes and scenery presenting the 19th century picture of the pagan past
Forbidden Brides, by Neil Gaiman and Shane Oakley - a very short graphic novel based on a short story. Actually very funny, made me smile and kind of reminded me of Northanger Abbey because of how good-natured its parody of the Gothic genre is.
+ currently reading Women of Words in Le Morte Darthur: The Autonomy of Speech in Malory’s Female Characters by Siobhán M. Wyatt
watched:
Hausu (1977) - what a strange and beautiful film. Feels somewhat like a collage and is paradoxically scarier thanks to its unreality and whimsy
Castlevania: Nocturne (season 1, 2023-?) - vive la révolution! So far I feel like the first one was better, but I still enjoyed this one a lot. I'm not familiar with the games, so every plot twist is a big surprise for me, it's fun. And what a cliffhanger at the end!
One Piece live action (season 1, 2023-?) - as you can see from this blog, I liked it a normal amount, lmao. The found family and whimsy and sincerity and everything really got to me. You know when you're a kid and find some strange but awesome book in a library and devour it in one sitting? This is what watching it felt like.
Ragnarok (season 3, 2020-2023) - you know what, I'm mostly copying bits and pieces of these recaps from my Twitter threads, and if you follow me there, you might've seen me leave a pretty mild review - not nearly positive, but mild. Thrilled to announce that I slept on it and decided that actually no, I hate it :))) what a way to ruin a decent show.

11 and 17 tell me more of your thoughts.
11. Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?
I will talk about Grant, for you. <3 (Again, for people who aren't @irolltwenties, fandom doesn't dislike Grant, they just don't know who the hell he is.)
What always gets me about Grant is the contrast between his early years and his later ones. I always joke that Grant has never had anything good happen to him in his life ever, but the Grant we meet in his solo series is so optimistic. This is a kid who grew up being horribly abused, who has no friends and no one safe to turn to, who is continually let down by HEROES, who has a highly destructive power he can't control, who keeps getting in trouble with the authorities, and who is constantly attacked by people trying to kidnap or murder him.
And yet he still has that sweetness, you know? He has the Emerson System, that belief that things will be better if he can just figure out the exact right approach. He has a lot of anger, too - anger has been a crucial part of Grant's emotional makeup from the very beginning, and always will be - but it's balanced against the fact that even though he has never had a good day in his life, he still hopes that tomorrow will be the one.
And then we see Grant again in 2008, and that's just gone. He is running on nothing but anger now, because the only thing else he has in him is despair. It's so heartbreaking but it's also really compelling because, like...fuck, dude, I would too at that point! His anger is an understandable and proportionate response to what he's survived.
What I'm drawn to in Grant as a reader and as a writer is finding a way to rekindle that hope. Not expecting renewed optimism from a character who has been given absolutely zero reason to feel it, but giving him that breathing room and that validation and that safety. Giving him the space, and letting him make the choice to try to believe in something again. It's the kind of grace I want to offer everyone who's hurting, but Grant's fictional, so I can just go ahead and build it for him myself.
17. Instead of XYZ happening, I would have made ABC happen…
I mean, I would never have had the New 52 happen, but I tend not to go "Ugh this arc should never have happened" aside from just noting that something is hot garbage or mentally tweaking a scene to be more effective from a character perspective. (I.e. Ollie fighting Roy in Rise of Arsenal to stop him from killing Electrocutioner sucks, but Ollie offering to kill Electrocutioner for Roy would have been amazing.)
My brain is much more interested in looking at the situation now, and saying "If DC put me in charge tomorrow, what would I do with what I have?" So, a few thoughts:
Superman: I'm actually fine with Clark and Jon's books - I didn't want them to age Jon up, but it's water under the bridge now. The great shame of the Superbooks is the lack of a solid Supergirl ongoing. So, Supergirl book, WRITTEN BY A WOMAN OH MY FUCKING GOD, with young female readers as the target audience. My dream book would be one costarring Kon where they are living with Ma and Pa in Smallville, but seriously, anything with Supergirl FOR GIRLS, it is not that hard a nut to crack.
Batman: Cancel half the books so you they have room to publish other shit. Batman (the monthly comic) should focus on Bruce; Detective Comics should focus on the family. Both should have backup features highlighting the supporting cast. At least 33% of the Batbooks should be about characters who are not white men.
Green Lantern: There should be two books: Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps. Green Lantern can rotate its focus through Hal, John, Kyle, Simon, and Jessica. Green Lantern Corps is an ensemble book starring Guy, all the aliens, and any of the other humans who aren't currently starring in the other book. These two books are closely in sync and are allowed one (1) 4-part crossover a year.
Wonder Woman: STOP WITH THE FUCKING MINISERIES. I read every single book connected to Trial of the Amazons and I had no idea what the FUCK was happening. Either give Diana and Nubia both ongoings or have them costar in a single ongoing but for the love of Hera, streamline this shit.
Flash: This book is literally almost perfect right now, I would just add a backup feature to tell stories about other speedsters like Wallace, Bart, Avery, Jesse, Jay, Max, THAD, etc. (Barry too I guess. Whatever.)
Green Arrow: I am begging and pleading for a Green Arrow ongoing so that Ollie can talk to his kids again. Please. My crops are dying.
Aquaman: I repeat: STOP WITH THE FUCKING MINISERIES, THEY ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO FOLLOW. One book, please. Jackson can have his own stories in it! Arthur can vanish for months at a time! That's fine! But you can't build a franchise with a bunch of short, disconnected, hard-to-follow stories. You need an ongoing that gets readers invested.
Team books: At least one Justice League book. I think you can probably get away with Titans for Dick's generation, Outlaws for Jason's, YJ for Tim's, and Teen Titans for Damian's. (Jason and Tim do not get other books if they have these. Dick and Damian can keep theirs, the sales numbers are there. Also, Dick's gen can only keep their book if they can manage to not suck, which has not been the case since like 2001, SORRY.) I personally would be more interested in some kind of Infinity Inc revival/younger JSA-related characters than a regular JSA book. Suicide Squad. Maybe Outsiders? Oh, and Doom Patrol for sure.
Other: I would have to take a more serious look at the spread of how many books this is and who is represented to fill in the rest of the line, but off the top of my head, books I would love to see include: A Booster Gold book that's a zany time travel comedy with a side of slowburn romcom shenanigans with Ted. A Jaime Reyes book by young Latinx creators. Tracy 13 and Detective Chimp solving magical mysteries. Stargirl (she has a show!). Static Shock. Zatanna and/or Constantine. Something Fourth World. THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO DC THAN BATMAN. PLEASE LET OTHER PEOPLE BE IN COMIC BOOKS.
(Hi yeah I have thoughts about how DC could be brand-building instead of running the only thing that works into the ground. Ask me anything!)

Hi! I really like your monthly bts fic rec lists and i use them a lot when i need something to read. They always helped me find what i need a lot quicker than searching through different tags and blogs on tumblr. You're doing an amazing job and I'm sure a lot of people appreciate you as much as i do (usually probably silently)
Recently i do have one... complaint? I don't want to call it a complaint but you know... I don't think there's a better word for it... I usually read only fics that are completed because if i start something that's still in progress i lose it later on and never finish it. And your lists always helped me with that a lot. But in the last few weeks i had at least 3 incidents where i started reading a fic you marked as "completed" and it wasn't completed. I can't remember which ones exactly and on which lists they were but i think the "oldest" one was from july 2022.
I don't mean to be mean or anything i just wanted you to be aware of that issue if it's an honest mistake. I'll still use your recommendations with pleasure but maybe more cautiously? For now at least.
Thank you for everything you do and i hope you continue to do such an amazing work in the future 💜💜💜
hello!!
no no, dont worry about being mean or anything! (this is literally like feedback and i'm all for it!!)
so when im putting my recs, i usually copy and past the one on top and change all of the information (ie summary, title name, fic author & the type of fic) and as im doing that, sometimes i get too ahead of myself and forget to change whether its completed or not and thats totally on me (shouldve taken my time and making sure)!
but since it has been brought to my attention, i am going back just to make sure everything is okay and good to go! (like now i just discovered that Dealer is still ongoing and its not even under the right category, clearly i am very smart at double checking)
hopefully everything else is good!! 😊

Milky Way’s graveyard of dead stars found The first map of the ‘galactic underworld’ – a chart of the corpses of once massive suns that have since collapsed into black holes and neutron stars – has revealed a graveyard that stretches three times the height of the Milky Way, and that almost a third of the objects have been flung out from the galaxy altogether. “These compact remnants of dead stars show a fundamentally different distribution and structure to the visible galaxy,” said David Sweeney, a PhD student at the Sydney Institute for Astronomy at the University of Sydney, and lead author of the paper in the latest issue of Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society. “The ‘height’ of the galactic underworld is over three times larger in the Milky Way itself,” he added. “And an amazing 30 percent of objects have been completely ejected from the galaxy.” Neutron stars and black holes are formed when massive stars – more than eight times larger than our Sun – exhaust their fuel and suddenly collapse. This triggers a runaway reaction that blows the outer portions of the star apart in a titanic supernova explosion, while the core keeps compressing in on itself until – depending on its starting mass – it becomes either a neutron star or a black hole. In neutron stars, the core is so dense that electrons and protons are forced to combine at the subatomic level into neutrons, squeezing its total mass into a sphere smaller than a city. If the mass of the original star is greater than 25 times our Sun’s, that gravity-driven collapse continues, until the core is so dense that not even light can escape. Both types of stellar corpses warp space, time, and matter around them. Although billions must have been formed since the galaxy was young, these exotic carcasses were flung out into the darkness of interstellar space by the supernova that created them, and hence slipped beyond sight and knowledge of astronomers – until now. By carefully recreating the full lifecycle of the ancient dead stars, the researchers have constructed the first detailed map showing where their corpses lie. “One of the problems for finding these ancient objects is that, until now, we had no idea where to look,” said Sydney Institute for Astronomy’s Professor Peter Tuthill, co-author on the paper. “The oldest neutron stars and black holes were created when the galaxy was younger and shaped differently, and then subjected to complex changes spanning billions of years. It has been a major task to model all of this to find them.” Newly-formed neutron stars and black holes conform to today’s galaxy, so astronomers know where to look. But the oldest neutron stars and black holes are like ghosts still haunting a house demolished long ago, so they are harder to find. “It was like trying to find the mythical elephant’s graveyard,” said Professor Tuthill, referring to a place where, according to legend, old elephants go to die alone, far from their group. “The bones of these rare massive stars had to be out there, but they seemed to shroud themselves in mystery.” Added Sweeney: “The hardest problem I had to solve in hunting down their true distribution was to account for the ‘kicks’ they receive in the violent moments of their creation. Supernova explosions are asymmetric, and the remnants are ejected at high speed – up to millions of kilometres per hour – and, even worse, this happens in an unknown and random direction for every object.” But nothing in the universe sits still for long, so even knowing the likely magnitudes of the explosive kicks was not enough: the researchers had to delve into the depths of cosmic time and reconstruct how they behaved over billions of years. “It’s a little like in snooker,” said Sweeney. “If you know which direction the ball is hit, and how hard, then you can work out where it will end up. But in space, the objects and speeds are just vastly bigger. Plus, the table’s not flat, so the stellar remnants go on complex orbits threading through the galaxy. “Finally, unlike a snooker table, there is no friction – so they never slow down. Almost all the remnants ever formed are still out there, sliding like ghosts through interstellar space.” The intricate models they built – together with University of Sydney Research Fellow Dr Sanjib Sharma and Dr Ryosuke Hirai of Monash University – encoded where the stars were born, where they met their fiery end and their eventual dispersal as the galaxy evolved. The final outcome is a distribution map of the Milky Way’s stellar necropolis. “It was a bit of a shock,” said Dr Sharma. “I work every day with images of the visible galaxy we know today, and I expected that the galactic underworld would be subtly different, but similar in broad strokes. I was not expecting such a radical change in form.” In the maps generated, the characteristic spiral arms of the Milky Way vanish in the ‘galactic underworld’ version. These are entirely washed out because of the age of most of the remnants, and the blurring effects of the energetic kicks from the supernovae which created them. Even more intriguing, the side-on view shows that the galactic underworld is much more ‘puffed up’ than the Milky Way – a result of kinetic energy injected by supernovae elevating them into a halo around the visible Milky Way. “Perhaps the most surprising finding from our study is that the kicks are so strong that the Milky Way will lose some of these remnants entirely,” said Dr Hirai. “They are kicked so hard that about 30 percent of the neutron stars are flung out into intergalactic space, never to return.” Added Tuthill: “For me, one of the coolest things we found in this work is that even the local stellar neighbourhood around our Sun is likely to have these ghostly visitors passing through. Statistically our nearest remnant should be only 65 light years away: more or less in our backyard, in galactic terms.” “The most exciting part of this research is still ahead of us,” said Sweeney. “Now that we know where to look, we’re developing technologies to go hunting for them. I’m betting that the ‘galactic underworld’ won’t stay shrouded in mystery for very much longer.” IMAGE 1....Point cloud top-down and side-view of the galactic underworld of the Milky Way CREDIT University of Sydney IMAGE 2....Point cloud image of a Milky Way, top-down and sideways view CREDIT University of Sydney IMAGE 3....Colour top-down and side-view of the Milky Way's galactic underworld CREDIT University of Sydney IMAGE 4....Colour top-down and side-view of the visible Milky Way galaxy CREDIT University of Sydney IMAGE 5....Split view of the visible Milky Way galaxy versus its galactic underworld CREDIT University of Sydney

“The Kamogawa Food Detectives” by Hisashi Kashiwai (and translated by Jesse Kirkwood)
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
***Thanks to NetGalley and G.P. Putnam’s Sons for the eARC copy of this book. My opinions are my own. This book came out on February 13th!***
“The Kamogawa Food Detectives” was originally published in Japan in 2013 and has just been translated into English for those of us in the United States.
Nagare Kamogawa and his daughter, Koishi, run the Kamogawa Diner, a small non-descript restaurant in Kyoto, Japan. They make delicious food, but their speciality is in their so-called food detecting skills. Customers come to them with a memory of a specific dish that they used to eat that they would like recreated. And the Kamogawas “investigate” the dish and recreate it. And the customer gets closure or an answer to a specific situation.
I liked this and didn’t like this all at the same time.
My likes are that the stories are sweet and cozy. The food sounds amazing. It’s the kind of book that you want to read curled up under a blanket on a rainy day. And also that it’s Japanese. I haven’t read a lot of Japanese authors and I am trying to diversify my reading.
My dislikes, I think, are mainly with the publishers and with how they presented this book. The book isn’t really one cohesive story. It’s six independent short stories. And they are VERY repetitive - to the point that I wanted to throw it against the wall when I started the last one and yet again, it was the same as the first five. I’m only slightly exaggerating here, but it was like a MadLibs story. It’s like there was a template and and the author just filled in the blanks with a new character and a new dish. But everything else about each story was the same - down to the description of the hallway or the exterior of the restaurant. How many times do I need to be told what the hallway looks like?
Maybe this is a translation problem. Maybe the translator made everything sound the same, I don’t know. But if this book was presented as a book of short stories, I may have enjoyed the experience better. I’ve been wondering if back when this was originally published, if the stories were published individually of each other in a monthly magazine or something and then they were collected in this volume, because that would also explain things. But the ARC that I read came with zero explanation.
Also, the way in which the stories are told is very different to way Americans tell stories. This is not a detective story in the way Americans think of a detective story. In this book, each short story is divided into two parts. In the first part, the customer comes to the restaurant and tells the duo about the dish they want recreated with some clues to its origin. The second part, the customer comes back two weeks later and the father tells the customer what he did to find the recipe and then he presents the dish. The customer gets closure. The end. We never get a middle investigative section. It’s very peculiar from a Western standpoint. I wonder and think it’s highly likely that I’m culturally missing something. Like I know that different cultures tell stories in different ways. And they have different tropes. And there are things that are intrinsic to their culture that I’m ignorant of. And that’s all completely fair and valid. Westernized culture isn’t and shouldn’t be considered the cultural standard. But I do think that IF that is the case here, then the publishers should have had an introduction to explain things.
Or have marketed this differently as a collection of short stories. Because there isn’t a lot intrinsically wrong with these stories outside of the repetition. I don’t not recommend it. It’s about 200 pages long, divided into 6 stories. You could maybe read one a night before bed. But I do think going into this book with the correct mind frame about what you’re getting into would help a lot. Because it is sweet and cozy and heartwarming and yummy.

As a Parent of Gen Alpha Kids, I Promise: They Are Not the Worst in History
Dennis the Menace terrorized adults in the early 1960s. The kids on "Saved by the Bell" made life for Principal Belding total hell circa 1990. And the Plastics had no respect for authority when "Mean Girls" first came out in 2004. And yet, Gen Alpha - the kids of millennials, born between 2010 and 2025 - is being labeled as the most "defiant, disrespectful, and rude" kids in history. TikTok creator and teacher Teresa Kaye Newman certainly isn't alone in sharing her opinion that today's youth are "entitled" and "lazy." As she said in a viral post that is meant to serve as a PSA for parents, "Your children are missing the mark on discipline, they're missing the mark on education standards, they're missing the mark on literacy, they're missing the mark on socialization." I know this TikToker wasn't addressing me directly - but actually, she kind of was. I'm a mom of four Gen Alpha kids, and I'd argue that they deserve far more grace than is being afforded to them. Here's the reality: today's children aren't that bad. If my Dennis the Menace callout wasn't enough to convince you, consider that since the beginning of time, kids have been testing limits. That's what kids do. And, news flash, kids make mistakes (so do adults, but we'll get to that in a moment). First, I want to point out the biggest difference between Gen Alpha and previous generations: nowadays, if a child is rude or misbehaves, we can always rely on someone to shame them or their parents on social media. Kids need compassion, not condemnation. We can also thank social media for pressuring our kids to live up to impossible standards of perfection that don't even exist. I mean, I'd implode too if my whole social standing revolved around whether I had a Stanley water bottle at the age of 10. Can we really blame kids for feeling overwhelmed by all the lofty trends they feel they need to adopt just to fit in? From endless makeup tutorials to body ideals that aren't attainable for 99 percent of young people, to shoes and clothes and accessories you'd need Kardashian money to afford, Gen Alpha is just trying to keep its head above water (a recent warning about the impact of social media from the US Attorney General confirms that). Kids need compassion, not condemnation. I'm sad to think that anyone who had the luxury of growing up pre-pandemic, and before school shootings were monthly occurrences, would turn on today's kids. The stress and lack of stability these kids deal with on a daily basis is unimaginable for those of us who remember life before cell phones and, gasp, the days when you couldn't skip commercials. Speaking of parents, we're facing unique pressures as well. Aside from our own unhealthy relationship with social content, raising a family has never been so expensive. My husband and I pay more now for our home, heating, electricity, food, cars, and healthcare than ever before. Like many Americans, we are a two-income household, and having to work long hours can mean less time to spend with kids doing homework or eating dinner as a family. But like generations of parents before us, we are trying our best day in and day out. Many of us strive to raise our kids to be respectful and hardworking, and I assure critics out there that I know a lot of truly amazing young people at my kids' school, on their sports teams, and out and about in our community. A final word on the topic: I also feel for teachers. Like today's kids and parents, they are dealing with their own set of unique pressures. From attempting to get students' attention in a world saturated with viral content, to overcoming learning loss from the pandemic, to coping with their own fears about school violence, you have to admire the many dedicated educators doing their part to help raise responsible, kind, caring, and ambitious citizens of the future. The takeaway here is that these kids do exist - we just need to look a little deeper at each individual and the… https://www.popsugar.com/family/gen-alpha-criticism-opinion-49330518?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr

DISCOVER THE SECRET TO EARN $1000+/MONTH IN PASSIVE INCOME FROM AMAZON KDP USING YOUR SMARTPHONE EVEN IF YOU HAVE NO WRITING SKILLS.
What is Amazon KDP?
What is Amazon KDP For Smartphone All about?
Is Passive income through Amazon KDP a legitimate business model?
Well, in this article contains all the necessary information to put an end to your curiousity and profer you a way forward on how to earn passive income by publishing on Amazon kdp even with little or no writing skills.
1. Let me briefly introduce Amazon to you.
Amazon is a multi-billion dollar company founded by Jeff Bezos, the second richest man in the world at the moment (2022).
Amazon runs one of the biggest online eCommerce marketplaces in the world amazon.com but that’s not all they do.
Among other businesses, they also have a self-publishing book arm for authors who want to publish their books without the wahala of publishing houses.
The Name of this self-publishing Arm is called KDP.
KDP stands for Kindle Direct Publishing.
Amazon pays its publishers (people like you) royalties every month worth millions of dollars.
now, here is how it works.
You upload simple and short books on amazon and amazon will pay you royalties in Dollars for every purchase of your books.
Amazon has over 300 million regular customers all over the world that buys books on their site so as long as you are writing about stuff that the market is interested in buying, you will keep smiling to the bank month after month.
So I know you must have some questions like:
How to I know what the market is interested in?
Are you sure this thing is for me because I don’t have any writing skills?
Well, that’s where the Amazon KDP for Smartphone Blueprint comes in.
It’s a step-by-step guide that shows you how to make between $200-$1000 dollars monthly by Uploading books to Amazon using just your smartphone.
Here is what’s so special about this blueprint:
You Don’t Need to Be A Writer or have any writing skills.
You will be shown how you can use a simple formula called writing without writing (www formula) to create & publish a book in a day using your smartphone.
This is what people like you are doing and earn money in dollars every month.
Here is an example of how amazon KDP can work for you:
let’s say as a newbie you create and publish a book in a day and you decide to sell it for $15
Let’s also assume that 80 people bought that book in a month,
(Mind you, this is an average assumption; it’s possible for you to sell more than that)
$15 x $80 = that’s $1,200 for you
Remember I said the www formula will help you to create a book in just a day.
What if you have 5 books on amazon which is possible with the www formula, and your price tag then each $10, then in a month you sell 50 copies of each book…
5 books x 50 copies x $10 = that is $2,500 for you in that month.
all of your books will keep fetching you money every month forever…..
Amazing right?
And Guess what…
You can make even x2 of that in a month depending on how willing and ready you are to take massive action.
SOME OF THE BEAUTY OF UPLOADING BOOKS ON AMAZON ARE:
You don’t need to spend money on ads.
You don’t need to build or pay for a sales funnel.
You don’t need to import any product.
You don’t need to be a tech expert.
You don’t even need to be a write.
It has nothing to do with bring one person, bring two people
Why you should join Amazon KDP today?
Here are some of the benefits:
You become a global player (people from all over the world will start reading your books)
You become a publishing consultant and supplement your income by teaching others about the industry…
Amazon can help you sell your books because books account for over 75% of Amazon sales.
You don’t need any technical knowledge, and you don’t need any experience with email or WhatsApp marketing.
KDP gets you started in advanced digital publishing, where you can make anywhere between $200- $5,000 per month.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE AMAZON KDP FOR SMARTPHONE PROGRAM
Question: I don’t know how to write or even have any writing skills, can i still make money from the Amazon KDP Course?
Answer:
The beauty of the Amazon KDP for smartphone blueprint is that you can create books and become a published author within a day even if you have no writing skills.
You will be shown proprietary writing without writing formula that you can use to create and publish as many books as you want on amazon thereby earning some fat royalties in dollars.
Question: How am I sure it will work for me?
Answer: The Amazon KDP for Smartphone course is no respecter of age, be you young or old, man or woman, it will work as long as you follow the clear instructions given in the course.
Question: What if it doesn’t work for me?
Answer: The course is proven to work and is backed by countless testimonials from people who bought and are making money with it.
Within just 7 days of its release, over a thousand students enrolled for the course and are very happy with their purchase.
Surely, over 1000 students of the course can’t all be wrong.
However, if after all said and done it doesn’t work for you, it will interest you to know that the course is covered by a no question asked money back guarantee.
Question: Can a non-Nigerian benefit from the course?
Answer: Of course! Amazon is a global company and is accessible by virtually all the countries of the world so it means that you can profit and make money with it from just about anywhere in the world.
Question: I have a book on Amazon that’s not selling; can you tell me what to do to make people buy?
Answer: Most people don’t understand the business side of amazon which leads to lots of frustration and some even give up along the way.
The answers you seek are in the Amazon KDP for Smartphone guide
Question: I’m interested but the course is too expensive what can you do for me?
Answer: If I understand you correctly, you are saying that you have the money but you just think that N20k is too much for you to invest in yourself right?
Smiles.
This is a skill that if you master it can help you earn 10x as much in passive income just by uploading books to Amazon that you didn’t even write.
What this means is that you will be able to upload multiple books every month.
So the more books you upload, the more money you can potentially earn.
Even if you made only $200 dollars as a beginner in your first month, convert it to Naira using our miserable N600 exchange rate and that gives you
N120,000.
Subtract your N20k you used in getting the course and you are left with 100k
There are some self-acclaimed gurus out there selling courses about Kindle publishing that is probably not as good and structured as the Amazon KDP for Smartphone but guess what, they sell for over 3 times the price.
If you don’t get in now because you think it’s expensive, you may have to pay N30k or more to get in later.
Question: How soon Can I start making money using the Amazon KDP for Smart Phone Blueprint?
Answer: Some people made their first money on Amazon after 1 year.
Some made $200 in a week.
Some made $500 in a month.
Some made $2,000 in roughly 3 months.
Some made $15,000 in a year.
What matters is execution and the level of effort you put in.
Question: I don’t have a Laptop, is that a problem?
Answer: That’s the most interesting part of this course. You see this blueprint was created for two sets of people.
People who don’t have a laptop
Those who have laptops but find it easier working from their phones.
You can choose to join these people getting amazing results from the program or you can remain on the sidelines watching things happen, the choice is yours.

Dear Future Self - April 13, 22
Dear future self... I’ve done it again. It’s been weeks!  Dang, I just went back and looked and it’s been over a month.. I was just getting back from Whistler. Boy has a lot happened once again. I need to get better at this. I even told myself last week I needed to pop in and catch up but that’s okay.  Where to even start. Things with Trav have been progressing. It was a big roller coaster of emotion and everything for a few weeks. I went from feeling like i was in control, to feeling like I lost everything to somewhat back in control. Basically, he obviously couldn’t get pre-approved. I had emailed because the mortgage was behind for 2 full months, my credit score had plummeted down to a scary 620. I called my lawyer and she got on it and I emailed Vanessa saying that due to Travis breaching the agreement that he had until April 30th to get approved to refinance and if he couldn’t or didn’t, I would be putting the house up for sale period. Well she said things should go through lawyers now and her be left out and she cc’d travis. A week later she said he didn’t get approved so they are selling the houses and going to find a place for Trav to live. Said it would be up on the market around april 15th and she would let me know when the house has sold, which I replied that he wouldnt be able to sell without me as my name is on title. Anyways, theyll be listing by april 30th which the mortgage is at $260k and I dont think we’d have any issue selling for at least $350k. I have arranged with my lawyer to put a Lis pendens on the house as I am coming after him for half the equity due to him fucking my credit so bad especially because I wouldn’t be able to even buy a place with my credit now. Now I’m just waiting. My lawyer has filed the divorce paperwork too now so things are really moving. I’m really just praying and giving it to God that if he would like to bless me with a couple thousand dollars from this house because Vanessa fucked me with the initial price, that would be absolutely amazing.  Work has been alright. Been getting frustrated more often, and with no having cash flow the stress is high. I know its not my company but many, it’s so hard watching it and being in it day to day. I’m also getting a bit annoyed with feeling like my “authority” which is pretty small anyways, is just diminishing. I get that Chrystal got a raise and should be living up to it more by managing me and things better, but sometimes I just wonder. like I know how to do my job and I was doing things before she came, yah she has more experience but I just question sometimes like she makes little comments about doing certain jobs that Im like, girl you don’t even do that, I do and I feel title is so important to her and it comes across aggressive sometimes. I want to learn more, but yea she’s shown me once how to pay GST but when would she ever let me actually do it? Or provide deeper training? I feel a bit stagnant. But i do love my job and I am really blessed for how Danny has treated me so Im really not complaining.
Speaking of work... and did I not mention a bit ago that I was wanting to pick up a part time job? Well YOUR GIRL HAS ANOTHER JOB. Funny enough Ed posted about needing an assistant which Meliss ended up starting with him but she also was starting a new job within 2 weeks so I reached out and we were able to connect and he was down for me working for him! So since like March 21st? I’ve been working for him. He pays me $25 an hour and I bill him monthly. In the two weeks to end of March I worked around 21 hours so I’ll easily have over 40 hours a month with him. I average about 2-3 hours a night depending, and he’s been adding more tasks over time. So far I think it’s working really well! I’m a bit tired, but I look forward to the long weekend, still just figuring out managing my time but I’m still going to bed around 9:30-10PM so that’s okay. I’m pretty happy and he said it could turn into a full time job if desired so it’ll be really interesting to see how these next several months pan out with everything. Moving? Also looking at that too. Dillon has been scouting, its been agreed that Cody, Dillon and I are looking for a 3 bed 3 bath place together which I think could work. Worries me a bit but my rent would only be $800-$900 so that should be pretty manageable. I’m not in a rush to move yet so really just trying to save what I can while being here until things pan out.  Condo stuff has also been all over the place. It’s a lot to catch up on. We tried to sell but ended up in the hole and would owe money to sell so we’ve just left it and seeing what they do. hopefully nothing comes of it so it doesn’t fall on Meliss but we’ll see, giving it to God to work out. So many possibilities and things that intervene and affect it so really I have no idea.

The Best Yuri of 2020
2020 was hell in every way, and many of us are looking forward to new possibilities and advances in 2021. However, the year brought us many small moments and gifts worth celebrating. Among these, the explosive growth and change within the Yuri genre are among the most precious and most outstanding achievements. This second century of Yuri opened with a bang, as phenomenal new works, creators, and moments made their mark and helped change the future genre.
Tumblr media
This annual list is a celebration of just a handful of the fantastic titles, people, and events in Yuri. There are likely some even greater ones that did not make the list because there is so much content in both English and Japanese that even I cannot keep up. However, among the troves of treasure, these titles stood out as shining examples of Yuri excellence. Some were released this year, others were recently adapted into English, and still, others are established titles that rose to prominence to dominate the conversation and my mind this year, but every one of them is worthy of being on this list and in your heart.
Here is the Best Yuri of 2020!
15: The Curse of Kudan Remastered
Japanese Yuri visual novel developers show no sign of slowing down as they continue to push to new heights and try new ideas. These are the same amazing people who brought us the delightful educational Yuri game The Expression Amrilato and the hilarious and surprisingly queer OshiRabu: Waifus Over Husbando’s. However, this most recent release, The Curse of Kudan Remastered, is their best work yet. Released near Halloween, this game brings a new edge of dark mystery and the occult to Yuri audiences worldwide.
The Curse of Kudan is available on MangaGamer, JAST USA, Denpasoft, and Sekai Project.
Tumblr media
14: Adachi and Shimamura
English audiences were finally treated this year to Hitoma Iruma’s long-running and wildly successful Yuri light novel series, Adachi and Shimamura. Although the story struggles to gain traction, dedicated readers’ have their patience rewarded with a sweet tale full of gay pining. Alternatively, you can jump into its stellar anime adaptation, with gorgeous visuals and realized characters you will actually be willing to put up with the annoying Yashiro just to see where the title characters go. The series shows no sign of slowing down either, as the manga adaptation is coming to Western audiences next year.
Adachi and Shimamura is available to stream on Funimation. The light novel series is published by Seven Seas - https://amzn.to/3rTSZTK
Tumblr media
Honorable Mention: Happy Go Lucky Days
The OVA adaptation of Fragtime got most of the attention this year. Still, director Takuya Satou and Pony Canyon also gave us this much-overlooked “love is love” anthology movie based on Takako Shimura’s manga (Sweet Blue Flowers, Wandering Son). The first short in the film, “Happy,” is easily the best Yuri anime of the year. It follows the beautiful yet realistic queer love story of two women hooking up at a mutual ex-girlfriend’s wedding, only for the relationship to blossom and warm viewers’ hearts. Sadly, while stylized, the budget demanded the animation cut a few too many corners. Additionally, the subsequent stories are at best tedious and at worst alarmingly problematic, which is why Happy Go Lucky Days only gets an honorable mention.
The OVA is streaming on HIDIVE
Tumblr media
13: Mieri Hiranishi
The Yuri scene has many colorful creators with a breadth of different ideas and stories in the genre, yet few have provided as much humor and joy as Mieri. This talented creator spectacularly tumbled into the scene with her manga essay The Moment I Realized I Wasn’t Straight, which embodies the brutal honesty and realism of Nagata Kabi and matches it with exaggerated hilarity. She continues to chronicle her painful struggles of being a butch girl in love with butch girls in the monthly series The Girl that Can’t Get a Girlfriend. Alternatively, you can follow her on Twitter for just as much heart and laughter.
Read The Girl that Can’t get a Girlfriend on Tapas and Webtoon.
Tumblr media
12: My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!
My Next Life as a Villainess has what can only be described as volcanic bisexual energy. Every character protagonist Catarina Claes encounters is entirely enthralled by her. Of course, she is far too preoccupied with her quest to avoid doom flags and change her ultimate fate to notice any romantic interest. The series is rewarding and well structured, as views are just as focused on how Catarina plans to avoid certain doom as they are with the various romantic misses her band of companions cooks up. While the “friendship ending” did not capitalize on its Yuri potential, it was perhaps the most satisfying possibility for this crazy harem, at least until season two comes out, which looks, unfortunately, to be significantly less queer.
My Next Life as a Villainess is streaming on Crunchyroll
Tumblr media
11: Love Me for Who I Am
Kata Konayama’s manga series is less Yuri than a general LGBT work, but it has a lesbian character and explores her identity and struggles in great detail. Few titles before have captured the exciting and nervous waves of emotions that young people feel as they explore gender and sexual identities and try to find themselves. This heartfelt and extremely queer series rubberbands between cute moe dress up to tragic and gripping backstory, keeping readers on their toes the whole time.
Love me for Who I Am is published by Seven Seas - https://amzn.to/3rTSZTK
Tumblr media
10: A Summer’s End – Hong Kong 1986
Oracle and Bone’s debut visual novel, A Summer’s End, is set in a vibrant and electric 1980’s Hong Kong. Drawing inspiration from classic Asian cinema, music, and fashion. The worlds of Michelle, a young office worker, and a free-spirited woman named Same collide. The two struggle to comprehend and accept each other’s feelings just as they struggle against society’s expectations and prejudices. An incredibly thoughtful and touching adventure, the creators incorporated vital contemporary elements include Asian LGBTQ rights and growing political unrest in Hong Kong, into this illustrious game.
The visual novel is available on Steam.
Tumblr media
Honorable Mention: Goodbye, My Rose Garden
In the same vein as A Summer’s End, Goodbye, My Rose Garden is a beautiful period piece that incorporates LGBT views into its shattering narrative. The story follows a bright-eyed immigrant, Hanako, wanting to make a new life in England as an author at the dawn of the twentieth century. She takes a job as a maid to noblewoman Alice, but their relationship takes a turn when Alice asks Hanako to kill her. This poignant tale is beautiful and an honest depiction of love and its conflict with responsibility and society.
Goodbye, My Rose Garden is published by Seven Seas Entertainment - https://amzn.to/3hFSyaG
Tumblr media
9: Shio Usui
Usui’s hit Shaikaijin Yuri manga Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon could easily take this spot even though it is not even out in English until February 2021. The manga is already making waves and receiving constant praise. The characters and their journey to discover love and self-acceptance are as charming as they are relatable and grounded. However, it is the creator, Usui, who really deserves acclaim. Not just for their work on Doughnuts, but having a second serialized story, Onna Tomodachi to Kekkon Shitemita, in monthly Yuri magazine Comic Yuri Hime simultaneously. It is even more remarkable when you consider these two iconic stories are Usui’s first long-running works, as they only contributed one-shots before.
Tumblr media
8: Bloom Into You: Regarding Saeki Sayaka
Bloom Into You is possibly the most iconic Yuri series in the past decade, and while the manga deserves its own place on this list, the best thing to come out of the series as a whole is easily the light novels. This trilogy by Adachi and Shimamura creator Hitoma Iruma dives deep into supporting cast member Sayaka. Readers are treated to a delightful journey as she discovers her sexuality, experiences heartbreak, and finally finds herself breaking free and falling in love. With the help of gorgeous illustrations by Nakatani Nio herself, Iruma masterfully captures Sayaka’s unique voice and emotions in this wonderful series. Whether a fan of the originals or not, every Yurijin must check out Regarding Saeki Sayaka.
The light novel series is published by Seven Seas - https://amzn.to/3hFSyaG
Tumblr media
7: Our Teachers are Dating
The best a Yuri can get. This workplace romance follows two teachers at the start of a new relationship taking nervous yet enthusiastic first steps, including saying I love you, going on their first date, and even sleeping together. It is so heartfelt and salacious that readers will squeal the whole time. Additionally, our heroines are supported in their relationship by everyone they know, their students, colleagues, and even the principal. It is a perfect world for these two lovebirds! Our Teachers are Dating would easily be number one or two in any other year, but the competition is fierce in 2020. So even though this is only number seven, it is still a master class Yuri manga.
The manga is published by Seven Seas Entertainment - https://amzn.to/38XY3O9
Tumblr media
6: Amongst Us
Who would have thought that a comedy alternative universe story spinoff of a fantasy action series would be the single best Yuri webcomic this year? Shilin’s astounding artwork illustrations the hilarious and irresistible journey of girlfriends Blackbird and Veloce. These two eccentric young women get into all kinds of everyday mischief that bounces between tender and touching romance, completely outrageous comedy, and downright thirst-inducing sorcery. Seriously, you should buy the first volume for Veloce’s back muscles alone. The storyline skips between time, but both their established relationship and their meeting as teenagers are adorkable and captivating.
Amongst Us is available online free on Webtoon and the comic’s website. The first volume is in paperback on Shilin’s site.
Tumblr media
Honorable Mention: Éclair
There are a lot of Yuri anthologies out there, and they have done some beautiful things. Many focus on themes like Syrup. Others collect a series of stories by an author into one bound work. However, out of all of them, Éclair is the most successful. ASCII Media Works took some of the genre’s most extraordinary creators and let them do whatever they wanted, and the results are spectacular. The incredible talent behind Éclair somehow packs a full volume’s worth of story and character into just a few pages with every chapter. While the first volume came overseas a few years ago, Yen Press gave Yurijin a gift this year by releasing the entire rest of the series in which readers can get lost.
The anthology series is published by Yen Press - https://amzn.to/38XY3O9
Tumblr media
5: I’m in Love with the Villainess
A small trend of isekai Yuri with villainesses emerged recently, and I honestly had few hopes of I’m in Love with the Villainess. The series is pretty popular, but I often find that this does not denote quality, and with isekai having some institutional issues, I suspected this would fall flat. Then the volume three cover showcased an incredible accomplishment, allowing for a lesbian relationship to blossom into a family with children, and it blew me away. Finally, I read volume one and realized that the series has incredible character, some of the best world-building I have ever seen in a light novel, thoughtful discussions of inequality and societal issues, and most impressively, open and frank discussion of queer identity and life Yuri has ever seen! This one is something special.
The series is published by Seven Seas Entertainment - https://amzn.to/3nedvdZ
Tumblr media
4: The Last of Us Part II
Yes, I know this one is not Yuri and that a portion of the population despises this game and will likely be exceptionally angry at me for including it. However, I maintain that it was an incredibly challenging masterpiece. Naughty Dog did not take the easy route out and delivered one of the most devastating media experiences I have ever seen. As I said in my article about the game, playing it changed me, and it sticks with me to this day. The Last of Us Part II earns its spot on this list because it pushed boundaries more with LGBTQ inclusion than any other AAA game. From brave inclusion of LGBTQ themes to queer characters and storylines at its center, the game changes gaming and it will never go back.
The Last of Us Part II is available on PlayStation 4
Tumblr media
3: She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
She-Ra feels like the culmination of all the LGBTQ progress western cartoons have made over the past few years. From The Legend of Korra to Steven Universe, young people are finally seeing more LGBTQ people represented on the small screen. This epic fantasy concluded with an amazing and powerful lesbian romance, delivering on its queer promise and revolutionized representation in a trope-defying crescendo.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power is streaming on Netflix
Tumblr media
2:  The Conditions of Paradise
The greatest single Yuri work of all in 2020 was the English release of Akiko Morishima’s breakthrough manga, The Conditions of Paradise. Initially released in 2007, this anthology detailed the love between adult women. It was in every way a manga ahead of its time, and seeing it finally get a small piece of the recognition it deserves overseas is a true gift. The fact that we can own this legendary piece of Yuri history and Morishima’s other anthologies is nothing short of a blessing from the Yuri goddess.
The Conditions of Paradise is published by Seven Seas Entertainment - https://amzn.to/38bh4xq
Tumblr media
Honorable Mention: Otherside Picnic
This eerie sci-fi horror series combines the best of pulse-pounding thrillers, complex and intelligent hard science fiction, and exciting Yuri romance. Author Iori Miyazawa spends as much time crafting a well-paced and intriguing narrative about a mysterious world where occult creatures roam as he does establishing two believable and grounded heroes in Sorawo and Toriko. The romance between the two may be slow to start, but their chemistry is undeniable and as the stakes and story build, so too does their relationship. Not only are the light novels incredible, but the series’ manga adaptation is coming soon to the West as well as an upcoming TV anime in early 2021.
Otherside Picnic is streaming on Funimation. The light novels are published by J-Novel Club - https://amzn.to/3niiv1g

1. Yuri subgenres
For a long time, Yuri was not a genre of its own, but elements of romances or bonds between women found in other works. Now, thanks to an increasing library of works, the advent of social media, and a wider audience, Yuri is a genre on its own, with many creators telling different stories in different styles. However, 2020 saw the continued emergence of something extraordinary, subgenres. Yuri is now so vast, we can actually categorize the works within. Depending on their characters, like classic schoolgirl romances or spicy shakaijin office affairs, their world, such as fantasy or isekai series and thrilling science fiction adventures, and even other elements within. One of my personal favorites is the feminist Yuri that emerges from titles like Sexiled, where women celebrate the accomplishments of other women and dismantle power structures stacked against them. Now, no matter what kind of Yurijin you are, there is something for you to love.

I am happy to leave 2020 behind, but I bring with me a renewed love and admiration for Yuri. 2021 looks to be a somehow even better year for the genre, and I am thrilled to experience every minute of it that I can. Yuri has transformed into something far greater than I ever thought it would be, and let us all enjoy its evolution and expansion together in 2021.
