Now that I've played at least one game in every Pokemon region, it is of course time for a ranking. Though note that the criteria is less based on how "good" I think the games are objectively and more on, like, vibes and such and if I have good memories of playing.
10. Sinnoh - This was the only gen I skipped when it came out because I didn't have a ds and didn't know how to emulate one, and when I finally did get one, Black & White were already out and Gen 4 was old news. But a while ago I did play Brilliant Diamond and really didn't have a good time at all. At that point everything felt extremely by-the-numbers and dated and I can't think of anything that this game offered that I didn't already get from the other titles. Some of the Gen 4 Pokemon are nice but it also has so many legendaries, which I really don't like as a concept (I mean I don't like it when the game tells me which Pokemon I'm supposed to find special and interesting). Also not a fan of the art style in the remake and I find Barry incredibly annoying.
Almost all of the BDSP customisation options were S-tier and Cynthia made for a great boss, but that's about it.
Tumblr media
9. Kanto - I was there for the first anime episode so I have a lot of nostalgia for the early days for the franchise, even though I didn't get to play the original GB games. And when I did get Yellow on an emulator I already had Gold, which already covered Kanto so why bother? By now I've played Let's Go Eevee though and didn't really enjoy myself. The Kanto story is so nothing, and the motion controls just kill the whole thing for me. Also Trace is the worst rival character.
Most of my apathy towards Kanto is its overuse though, like the franchise has done interesting things beyond the original 151 but always when there's new forms or a major character hails from a different continent or whatever, its always Kanto and I've grown sick of it.
Tumblr media
8. Galar - There are some characters I really like, but otherwise the Galar games felt pretty hollow. There's a lot of cool looking locations but there isn't any substance to them and you can't do anything in them, and the open area was a great concept but you can't do anything in it either. The giant forms don't do a lot for me either since I tend to prefer small and cute Pokemon so making them bigger and more ""badass"" usually doesn't work for me.
Out of all the Switch titles I like the Galar art direction best (as in how the characters look) at least.
Tumblr media
7. Alola - I remember there being a lot of talk how the Alola games supposedly shook up the formula because they didn't have gyms, but, like, they totally had gyms, they were just outdoors and had a different name. My main memories of playing Moon are about being constantly interrupted by handholding and the unbearable Rotom Dex, and even with the setting being something completely different from usual, I barely remember anything about it. The customisation was surprisingly boring too and I couldn't care less for Z-moves or Ultra Beasts. Lillie is super cute though and Team Skull was a lot of fun and regional forms are an excellent idea, even if it was wasted on Kanto only in this generation.
Tumblr media
6. Hoenn - I had Sapphire on an emulator and later a Alpha Sapphire, and I must say I didn't manage to finish either (I think I didn't even make it out of Mauville in that run), which is why I debated if I should put the Alola games higher just because I made it almost to the end there. But in the end I think Gen 3 did a lot more for the franchise, the berries, contests, secret bases, abilities and double battles are great. I don't have a lot of motivation to go back and finish Alpha Sapphire, all the surfing really doesn't sound inspiring, "too much water" isn't just a meme! Though maybe I should try at least.
Tumblr media
5. Kalos - Now we get to the games where my feelings are a lot more positive. I remember being super stoked for the 3d graphics, and somehow for the fact that your character could sit down on a bench (???). The customisation is also great and roller skating was a fun way to get around. The story was pretty weak though and I really don't like the bland rival friend group. I dunno man, the more I think about it, the harder it is to think about things that actually matter to the gameplay experience that I really like, but regardless I have pretty good memories of Y.
Tumblr media
4. Unova - White was my first game on an actual console (and not an emulator) so that alone makes it special to me. It's hard to come up with anything specific about the gameplay this time around either, but I remember having a good time, the world was fun to explore, N was a great rival and the story was good too. And the Big City of the region was amazing (and so was Kalos' for that matter) and the changing seasons made for beautiful graphics.
Tumblr media
3. Paldea - The graphics were ugly and the performance was a mess, but I like nonlinear open world games okay? And honestly even that didn't work properly since the gym levels didn't scale and I unintentionally did the easiest gym fourth so I was stupidly overleveled, and the world wasn't that interesting to explore either. But I still had a decently good time and also the game had been patched by the time I got around to playing it so I didn't encounter that many bugs.
Also points for making the friendly rival and box art legendary into something I actually liked for once, the school stuff was fun (would've liked even more), the Arven story line is one of my favourite Pokemon stories, and the Area Zero part was great. And overall the game managed to make the overused "beat 8 gyms and deal with the evil team and local legendary" plot feel somewhat fresh.
Tumblr media
2. Johto - The Kanto nostalgia pandering doesn't work on me, but Johto sure does. Gold was my first Pokemon game and I have so many good memories playing it, especially the nighttime Goldenrod city with the 8-bit music is my jam. I would also say that for its time it has been the best improvement on what came before, and of course it's the only time we get two games (or maybe 1,5) for the price of one instead of the other way around with the inclusion of Kanto. Then there is HGSS which contains still the best implementation of follower Pokemon. The story and characters will improve from here and the old gameplay jank doesn't really motivate me to revisit the games but they will always have a special place in my heart.
Tumblr media
1. Hisui - There really isn't any contest here, the gameplay is simply so much better in LGA than in any of the others. Catching and battling Pokemon is so streamlined, the HM equivalents are useful and make exploring more enjoyable rather than being glorified keys, and the story is different for once. And I said I like nonlinear open world games but this is fine as well, when you get a huge area to explore at once, even when they're unlocked in an order. Like what I have an issue with is if you can't take three steps without running into an unskippable NPC scene or some arbitrary roadblock.
I do have issues though, the Pokemon box and Pokedex menu fiddling is atrocious and a way bigger issue here than in any of the other games since there's a lot more incentive to catch and use different Pokemon, I don't really like the art direction, and the customisation options suck and I had to use 90% of the default look for the whole game. But regardless I would really like it if the franchise went into this direction in the future.

PLEASE just some cute/hot "WE COMPLETE EACH OTHER" moments 😭😭 •fem reader pls •established relationship •fluff and ;-; smut if you can darling 💚 Thanks a lot if you do and accept the ask🥺💜 YOU will save A horny LIFE 🙂
you’re an angel, really <3 so sorry this took so long, i’m terrible at multitasking. also, can i say that i’m obsessed with all these zoro requests; he’s a heathen, but he definitely has heart. anyway, i hope you have fun reading :)
1.8k words, fem reader, fluff & nsfw (obvy), established relationship - chopper makes an appearance!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
after the tenth time of him asking, you finally acquiesce and take a trip to the infirmary. chopper, who has been waiting for days for you to let him check you over, nearly knocks over his chair as he ushers you inside. you take a deep breath and take a seat.
“it’s really not a big deal,” you start to say, but you’re shushed and despite how cute his face is, you know better than to disobey an order from the ship’s doctor. chopper moves with ease and efficiency, prodding around gently, looking for any fractures, any wounds that aren’t healing. “like i said,” you try again, “it’s not a big deal.” he frowns at your insistence, noting that you’re a little paler than normal, and scribbling notes on a notepad.
the silence is killing you; normally you enjoy the quiet, your boyfriend isn’t really the talkative type, but this? it’s unnerving. did chopper find something irreversible? is this a result of you overusing your devil fruit power?
suddenly, the anxiety that you normally keep in a small, small box in the back of your mind, seeps out, clouding your thoughts. chopper calls your name repeatedly and shakes your shoulders before you blink your eyes and can think clearly again.
“oh, sorry.” you’re not sure what came over you, but you’re glad it’s over.
there are a few deep cuts that are slow to heal, but nothing that won’t go away within a few weeks; he patches you up and you flex your bandaged fingers a bit. “thanks doc,” you flash him a friendly smile, fatigue evident in your sluggish movements, in your delayed reactions, and in your spacey demeanor.
chopper hops off of his chair and takes your hand, worry buried into his features. “your devil fruit will be the death of you.” it’s a solemn statement, one he delivers as if it’s fact and not speculation—something you simply cannot accept.
shaking your head, you laugh a little. “you’re being overly dramatic again.” when you move to pinch his cheeks, chopper dodges your hand, frowning and folding his arms against his chest.
“i’m serious, y/n.”
his tone denotes as much, his normally amiable, sweet mannerisms marred by his stern attitude. you remind yourself that he’s only looking out for you, so you don’t really hold it against him. “it’s fine, chopper. really.” you feel it, though; in every fight, more and more, it becomes increasingly difficult to use your powers without sacrificing too much of your lifespan. it’s the reason why you and zoro have been arguing more lately, where he insists you take more of a backseat when it comes to fighting—but you refuse to take that cowardly route.
especially with how everyone puts their lives on the line every single time?
you shake your head but allow chopper to continue; you discuss options—the possibility of him working to create an artificial blood for you to use instead of your own, the downfall being that you’ll have to work twice as hard to make it feel natural with your style of fighting. it’s not something you’ve considered before, and you’re not entirely sure if it’s the most effective use of your powers.
still—if it means holding on to more of your life, maybe it is the way to go. chopper takes a few vials of your blood to work with, promising to let you know once he’s come up with a prototype. when you exit the infirmary, a strong pair of arms wraps around you from behind and pulls you against a hard chest.
“may i help you?” you ask, wanting to tease your boyfriend a bit. “i’m sort of busy. sanji asked me to—”
he spins you around so that you’re face-to-face—or, chest-to-face in your case—with him, his dark eye narrowing at you quickly, even more once he sees your cheeky grin. “that’s a terrible joke,” he says gruffly, frowning as scenarios of that nefarious, idiotic cook attempting to seduce you shuffle through his mind. but, his worries dissipate when you rub your hand on his chest, soft, slow movements to soothe him. a warmth spreads through him, cheeks pinkening, making it hard for him to brood properly.
“what did chopper say?” he clears his throat, desperate to just have you alone so that you can talk at leisure. you, on the other hand, don’t mind talking out in the open; you tease him about it from time to time, where he swears he’s not shy, he’s just selfish. he wants you for himself—all of your laughs, your tears, all of your stubbornness; he’s never cherished someone the way he cherishes you. it’s terrifying just how much he would be willing to do in order to keep you safe. the feelings are too intense for him to confess; it eats away at him daily, keeping him up at night as he berates himself over and over.
the cowardice is new for him, but he pushes aside those negative feelings to focus on you instead.
you can tell he’s stuck in his head, so you shrug noncommittally, hoping your nonchalance will deter him from prying. “nothing much, let's relax for a bit.” you curl your hand around his thick wrist and tug him along. “you look like you need a nap. you’re gonna get wrinkles if you don’t sleep properly.” you don’t know if it’s actually true, but zoro grunts thoughtfully beside you and you keep your lips pressed together to suppress your laughter. you drag him off to your room, and tumble onto your bed with him. you both face each other; he brings a hand up and brushes your cheek with the back of his hand.
he still doesn’t understand how someone so free-spirited, honest, and kind-hearted as you can tolerate someone like him, but he’s grateful. too selfish to tell you to do better, the guilt never even crosses his mind—he studies your face for a brief moment, wondering if he should voice that question out loud to you before you lean forward and kiss him. it starts out slow and sweet, but when he pulls you closer—hands roaming down your back as you straddle him—you feel a burst of energy. if you were a better person, you would let him rest; but you’re every bit as selfish as he is, wanting to have your fill of him first.
you feel the bulge in his pants and smile while dropping a few playful kisses on his lips, your skirt riding up, exposing the wetness on your panties. you grind your hips against his, pussy throbbing from the friction. he moans into your mouth, his large hands cupping your ass roughly, the heat from his touch making your pulse erratic. he hooks a thumb underneath the side of your panties, tugging on them hastily; you smack his hand and roll your eyes as you maneuver around and pull your panties off.
knowing zoro, if you leave it to him, he’ll destroy the pair intentionally.
after offering you a sly smile, he grabs onto the backs of your thighs, thick fingers digging into your skin as he brings you closer to his face. your thighs shake out of excitement as you lower yourself slowly, a needy ache passing through you when he slaps your ass. you let out a short yelp and finally do what he wants you to do. the moment your pussy touches his lips, his tongue dives in immediately, slipping through your moist folds without hesitation. he gives you a long lick, tongue barely touching your clit, but electrifying you all the same. you call out his name softly, hips rotating slowly.
because he likes keeping you on your toes, he swipes his tongue repeatedly, giving you long, firm licks; the sensation has you crying out, a shudder rippling through your body as your arousal drips into his mouth. you’ve never felt the need to ask how he feels about you, but now you do; the question lingers on your tongue, ready to spill from your lips, when he starts sucking on your clit. he treats it like a piece of candy, savoring and consuming it without any gentleness. you cum hard, thighs burning as you hold that position, pussy aching pitifully.
he likes seeing you unravel like this—you only show this side to him. as your hips slow down, you place a hand on your chest, trying to slow your heart down. when you move to get off of him, however, zoro holds you still. confused, you look down at him, gently biting your lip, whimpering as he presses a kiss to the inside of your thigh.
“again,” he says huskily, goosebumps traveling along your skin as you sink down onto his mouth again. you don’t expect the change in pace, his mouth and tongue worshiping your pussy like the devoted follower he is. you’re sure he’s set to kill you, your throat a little hoarse from how loud you are—but he’s determined to show you exactly how he feels, the only way he knows how. your body feels light, your hips moving faster as you grip the headboard tightly. normally, you’d be a little bit more considerate of your crew mates.
but today? you’re going to indulge in your selfishness a little more. and it seems zoro will too.
his cock strains inside of his pants, desperate for some sort of relief that he can’t give it just yet. something inside of him has shifted, you’re sure of it; the way he’s handling you feeds into a dark desire that you kept tucked away. the second orgasm leaves you breathless, your lips parting as you pant, fingers gripping the headboard tighter.
you lift your hips up only to be stopped by him again; your heart lunges into your throat, beating fiercely as you lick your lips. “zoro, i can’t…” his lips brush against the folds of your pussy teasingly. he finally lets you go and you quickly climb off of him before he changes his mind again. your cheeks burn painfully and despite your eyes closing, you just know he’s got a satisfied smirk on his face. and it’s true, he does. you find out when he pulls you in for a kiss, tongue swirling around yours, your body melding to his as you cling onto him needily.
it’s in between kisses that you let him know about what chopper actually said; your lips are swollen once he’s done with you and he rests his forehead against yours. you place a hand on his chest, enjoying the steady beats of his heart. a calmness envelopes both of you, wrapping around tight enough to finally give you the clarity you seek.
you should have known, how could you be so oblivious? this warmth you have, caressing your heart, warming your body significantly as realization settles harshly, has you grabbing his face and kissing him recklessly. love is typically described as a messy, stressful, wondrous thing, and while you anticipate anxiety later on, it’s nowhere near you now. when he kisses you back, arms wrapped around you securely, his mouth is also whispering i love you, too.

hello tumblr, its been a while since i posted something personal and i think it is time. Just a recap of my life, 2022 was a fucking ride. I posted here my experience about my chronic headache tension, and how I thought it will never go away. Well, that's partly true, but like how things in my life go, things still worked out in the end. Turns out the pharmacy I've been getting my meds at, well, they are not working. And the same meds I got like from another pharmacy, they worked. That is why my headache is not getting any better. Adding also to the fire, I developed a headache because of overused of ibuprofen. Never in my life I have been prescribed of sleeping pills just because I can't sleep due to the continuous pain and what a bad way to discover that there is something called Auditory hallucinations. Yeah, there's such a thing. Most painful thing I experienced in my life. I feel so helpless and hopeless. Glad that I know how to deal with this since it's not entirely gone. Maybe I got better of managing it.
I also got promoted from work. Big achievement seeing how competitive it is in my department and how I got promoted being only there for more or less a year. Meanwhile, i dont even want to talk about my salary. Life is unfair.
I officially graduated in UST with marching and all. Pleased to see myself there and not in a zoom meeting haha.
I passed the CPALE. I've waited for more or less 3 years for this board exam, and when it finally came, I passed. Years of sacrifices, frustrations, self-doubt, hard work, continuous expenses. And it all has been realized. I don't know if this title is worthy of all the hard works though and not just for the aesthetics lol. I wish it does.
Started to not talk with my bestfriend. Will not go into details with this one.
Grabe, a lot has happened in 2022 and still, no love life in sight! Still grateful though. I'll take what's on the table haha.
These are only the milestones worth mentioning, I still havent mentioned the things that not as great but made me smile and made my 2022 bearable and not a fucking hell.
The Pink Revolution, I have never felt more alive, I have never felt so included--never felt so much hope. To do things with the same cause, to do things because you know they are good, not just for you but to do it for the whole country. Also worth mentioning, the memes at that time are fucking hilarious, the online wars between the one that made sense and with the one who doesn't. I went to Boracay around this time and felt really the Leni supporters there. One time at the club, amidst the loud music, there was this group who shouted "BBM" with the beat of the music. Girl, you didint know how that, THAT, riled up the whole fucking club. the whole club including me, all fucking drunk, jumping, shouting at the top of our lungs: "LENI!" our same goal is to over power their shouts. All Kakampinks had camaraderie there, hugging, dancing, singing, drinking shots together not to mention Kakampinks are cuties. I will never forget how we got robbed of such a great candidate. Will never forget this as long as I'm breathing.
My sister got married so that's a thing
Made a new set of friends. They are work friends, actually, that I really got along with. So, that's a happy thing.
Went to La Union with workmates. Kind of sad taht I didnt get any awards, but it is what it is I guess.
I know there are still more but these are the only things I remembered.
Grabe ang 2022, what a ride.

Oh my god help I tried to submit this ask before and I got told a tumblrbeast ate it was it that long kjsfhjdshf. I'm so sorry if this is the second time you got this ask from me.
Me & my friend actually came up with a not-so-insane sounding theory: Marius is not from the in-game timeline. (This has basis in Marius third solo SSR, but I won't say anything you don't already know. You've seen that illustration, I can tell you it's seriously related to that!)
I'm thinking Madoka Magica here. Due to various events, Marius loses both Giann and Rosa. Unable to take the loss of both of them, he builds a time travel machine (only able to go to another timeline, not the past in his timeline), and sets out to save them both.
I'd like to imagine Marius at the start, so optimistic and eager, so helpful and open. He practically wore his heart on his sleeve around the first few Rosa, then gradually forced himself to close it off because he kept on failing. (As my friend pointed out, he feels like he doesnt deserve the love a Rosa in a timeline gives him because he's failed her too many times)
Also as my friend pointed out, this is why Marius doesn't open up as much to Rosa. He doesn't really like dumping so much about himself on her because he doesn't wanna get too attached to that Rosa in THAT timeline. Cause if he does, and he fails to save her- he'll be more broken than before.
The reason he seems emotionally detached while talking about the bad memories is because he experienced this in the first timeline, as the original Marius. The one that fell in love with Rosa and didn't know about the tragedy that would happen and didn't see the need to save her and Giann.
And can I add another layer of angst on top. He's stuck in a choose one situation. He can't save both, and he doesn't know that. Even if he does know that, he'd keep going to different timelines, in hopes of success, even if it's impossible.
omg jshdvfkj im glad this ask got through!! it's the only one that i got that looks like it, so hurray! u were successful!
that being said, u were successful in making me very emotional whHHHYYYYYYYY
Tumblr media
im personally not too big on theorizing about canon (my go-to is just to make an au HAHKJSHVFKJS), but it's interesting cuz i have played around with like, a madoka magica-esque au in terms of timeline jumping and immense angst, but it's always luke who im casting as the pseudo role of homura, since hes so very much intertwined with the concept of time and self destruction through self sacrifice
however, hearing ur rationale for marius is SO GOOD cuz i can see the connections and motivations, especially with how guarded and detached he is and oh god why wHY HE'LL BE SO DESTROYED, HE ALREADY IS, WHATS THE WAY OUUUUTTT
Tumblr media
overuse of crying memes aside, thank u for sharing this! if anything, im now immensely interested in applying some of the time-narrative concepts i usually apply to luke to marius too, cuz it fits him as well, what with how heavy his past is and also how he brings up the concept of memory a lot (like, his memories of giann, how he wants to be remembered always by mc, past anecdotes, etc). it fits, just in a different way and different angle
ah, subjecting faves to the Horrors <3 jhvVKJSHDF

here's a guide on what to know before letting your child/teen get into gacha community
the first hit game made by luni was in 2017 and it is basically a kids dress-up app with mini games and a studio mode to display charaters this game is called gacha studio and this sparked the very first gacha vidoes and despite the lack of options for poses and placement these videos were used to make what are called gacha mini movies or gacha music videos. the next game released from luni was gacha verse which had a slightly more cheapy vibe to it there was more options for making characters and similarly to gacha studio people would make mini movies and music videos with it and with this app started there very first away overused trends. then in 2018 gacha life was released and this is when the gacha community skyrocketed with animated memes, singing battles, glmbs, live music videos, glms gacha life mini movies. probably my favorite creation from this time was the wildly overused the hated child that became the hybrid princess glmm there were hundreds of these videos made with this title and as far as I know people still make them today it's a classic almost like cinderella type of video where there are two twins born but the mom favors one over the other and makes the hated child the maid or neglected child the father is always there at the beginnging buts seems to go get the milk around the middle of it then in high school with her bratty favorite sister they find out that she's actually a princess and goes to a castle and the mother and sister usually ends up as maids or die. moving on to the most current gacha game is gacha club which was released in 2020 and quickly gained popularity and brought the gacha community to a new level it had quit a lot more options for pretty much everything after the app came out however luni went quit for a while but has been a little more active and has been talking about a new game called wonder end. now the gacha tubers there's fandom gachatubers, commetary gachatubers, gacha-heaters, gacha heat police, gacha renters, venters, gacha animators, GLMV/GLMM gachatubers, gacha v-tubers, troll channels, mod reviewers, miscellaneous gachatubers, original gachatubers

summary: as someone who’s been tormented for being a nerd, you’ve never viewed your friendly teasing towards your best friend seonghwa as bullying. but that is until he completely changes his style and image in school, confronting you about your past behaviour, so you have no choice but to admit the real reason why you’ve been making fun of him...
pairing: popular boy!seonghwa x nerd!reader
genre: high school!AU (the characters are 18 for the spicy parts huehehe), best friends to fake dating to lovers, angst, romance, smut, fluff
warnings: friendly teasing, clichéd/unrealistic portrayal of high school dynamics, hwa does kabedon on yn like once, seonghwa’s a bit of a tsundere, fake dating, hints of possessiveness, slightly problematic remarks, yn is briefly hwa’s slave?! (no, i will not elaborate), bullying, mean girls, insults, hair-pulling, kicking, death threats, some swearing, self-blame, power play, overuse of pet names (princess, baby, little girl, etc.), sir kink (i won’t apologize lol), begging, yunho being nosy (yes, that’s a warning), mention of hypothetical collars, insecurities, making out, loss of virginities, lots of kissing, soft dom!hwa, eating out, fingering, blowjob, consensual protected sex, dirty talk, praising, aftercare, crying, hurt&comfort, a lot of dorky references (cuz that’s me, after all), jumping off a balcony (don’t try this at home!), happy ending
author’s note: will i ever stop bullying poor hwa’s kermit hoodie? no. jk, i lov him so much, he’s so talented & gorgeous no matter what he wears ;-;
disclaimer: all jokes aside, i do not in any way condone bullying and this work is entirely fictional for entertainment purposes! i’ve been physically and emotionally tormented in school and though i have not talked much about it, i do not wish such an experience to anyone! treating people with kindness is cool and i hope everyone spreads more love! ❤️
word count: 9.4k
Having been best friends with Seonghwa for four years now (ever since your first year in high school), you couldn’t help but making fun of every little adorable thing he did. And honestly, you admired his patience when it came to putting up with your incessant teasing. Diligently cleaning up everything after him? You’d call him a neat freak. Not being able to drink coffee? You’d call him a teacup loser.
So, when he started wearing that green hoodie of his to school, you couldn’t resist the temptation to call him Kermit the frog. And at first, it all started as a joke. But then the nickname kinda stuck and you just kept addressing him as Kermit, even if he wasn’t wearing the delectable green hoodie. And at one point, you could tell that poor Seonghwa was not a huge fan of the whole thing. But he never called you out on it or told you to stop. He never teased you back for being a hopeless nerd who studied 24/7 and read books for fun. So, you kept going.
Until the summer before your last year in high school arrived. Sadly, Seonghwa was going to be out of the country for the whole vacation. You were going to miss him terribly, you realized. You had become so used to seeing him everyday that you couldn’t imagine how you’d last three months without being able to see his pretty face all the time. You’d occasionally text him memes and ask him what he was up to. But as the summer was coming to an end, his replies became less and less frequent, more and more concise. You kept wondering if you’d done something wrong. It couldn’t be the Kermit thing, you began telling yourself. After all, it was normal to tease your best friend every once in a while. Right?
When the first day of your last year in high school came, you were nervously anticipating the moment when you’d see Seonghwa again. Summer without him had been so boring and you couldn’t wait to hug him again and find a new thing to joke about.
The second you saw him, you instinctively knew there would be no more joking around. Seonghwa practically walked into the school hallway like he owned the place. He’d completely changed his style and overall image. Gone were the dorky hoodies you secretly loved so much. Instead, they were replaced by a black leather jacket. Gone were the casual sweatpants he looked so good in. In their place were dark jeans that made him look kinda dangerous. And the whole confidence with which he carried himself was just totally different.
If you had known that a summer abroad could change a person so much, you would have tried harder at convincing him to stay in the country. On top of it all, he was now hanging out with a bunch of popular a-holes that you had never talked to before. Honestly, you couldn’t even gather the courage to approach your best friend. He looked so distant and unfamiliar that you couldn’t help but feel a little hurt. Especially when you heard him laughing at the cool kids’ jokes. That should have been you...
You remembered when you were the one making him giggle, as if it was a century ago, when in reality it was just a couple of months. You kept sighing during the whole day, not daring to even talk to him. If he wanted to still hang out with you after his sudden “change in status”, he would, you kept convincing yourself. But he didn’t. In fact, he ignored you the whole day, making you feel like shit.
Just as you were leaving the school building in a hurry, mentally prepared for an evening of crying your eyes out and eating ice cream, you felt a hand grabbing you tightly. Turning around, you were surprised to find Seonghwa’s eyes staring back at you.
“Hi, princess,” he greeted you calmly.
“H-hi, S-seonghwa,” you responded dumbly.
“What? No witty comeback?” Seonghwa scoffed, smirking.
“What are you talking about?”
“Aren’t you gonna bully me and call me names again? Kermit? Teacup loser? Neat freak? What’s it gonna be this time?” he spat out, pushing you against the school wall and extending his arms to touch the cold bricks so that you would feel trapped.
“Bully you?” you whispered in disbelief. “H-hwa, I wasn’t...I didn’t m-mean...”
“Oh, yeah?” he mocked your stuttering self. “Then, why did you say all these things, huh?”
“You know why,” you replied.
“No, I don’t. So, tell me right now or I swear, I can make your existence a living hell,” Seonghwa threatened.
“Because I like you, you idiot!” you cried out. “I like you so that’s why I’ve been teasing you. Because if I didn’t, I would have to admit how attractive I find all your habits. How adorable it is when you used to tidy your desk and how sexy you looked in that damned green hoodie. There, I said it. Are you happy now?”
You were so frustrated with the way he ignored you all day only to accuse you of bullying him that you ducked your head swiftly beneath his arm, simultaneously bending your knees, and, thus, successfully escaping from Seonghwa’s ambush.
“Y/N, wait!” he called after you, but you were running too fast and luck was on your side, as the bus arrived at that exact same moment, allowing you to get on it, before he could.
You couldn’t sleep much that night, tormented by the fact Seonghwa had confused your friendly jokes with bullying and how foolishly you’d confessed your feelings for him. You were certain that your affections were unrequited and now that he had this whole new position in the school hierarchy, he would undoubtedly make fun of you for them. You were even considering transferring to another school to avoid the potential embarrassment.
In the morning, no sooner had you finished breakfast in the comfort of your room than you heard loud honks. They were unlike the ones in your dad’s car so you couldn’t help but wonder what jerk had decided to park in front of your house and make your day even worse.
“Sweetie,” your mom informed you a bit after. “Your friend Seonghwa is here. He said he’ll drive you to school today. As promised.”
“He did?” you mumbled in confusion. But maybe because you weren’t ready to talk to your mom yet about what happened yesterday, you lied. “Ah, that’s right, I almost forgot.”
Hurriedly, you grabbed your bag and practically sprinted downstairs. You were curious to see what he wanted. And that’s exactly what you asked the minute you entered his car.
“What the fuck are you doing here?”
“Aw, no good morning for me, princess?” Seonghwa pouted and God, you hated how cute you found him after the way he’d treated you the previous day. “What does it look like I’m doing?” he rolled his eyes, starting the engine. “I’m driving you to school.”
“I can see that. But why?” you hissed.
“Well, someone got up on the wrong side of the bed,” he groaned. “If you’re so insistent on finding out, I’ll tell you. Ever since you told me how you felt yesterday, I’ve been thinking...And I’ve come to the conclusion that you have two options. Option number one is to enjoy your hellish last year of high school. You’ve had your fair share of teasing me so I’m definitely going to enjoy telling everyone about your little crush on me. It’s going to be so much fun to embarrass you in front of the whole school.”
What the fuck was wrong with him? Seonghwa was supposed to be your best friend! Why was he suddenly acting like you were worth less than a dirty rug? Was it possible that he had changed so much in the span of three months? Or was he always like that? Had you been blinded by his good looks? No, that definitely wasn’t the case. Seonghwa was the sweetest guy you’d ever known. How did he get so...cold? Cold enough to chill your bones.
“And what’s option number two?” you grunted, already anticipating the worst.
“So, there’s this annoying girl in our class I want to avoid at all costs. Just because her parents are doing business with mine does not mean I’m into her. Option number two is for us to pretend we’re dating in school. Considering how much you like me, I’m assuming it won’t be very difficult for you to pretend. If you agree, that is.”
What a jerk...You shared your sincere feelings with your best friend and that’s the first thing that crossed his mind? To use you in order to avoid some random girl? If it was any other guy, you would have said no. If you weren’t desperate for even a fraction of Seonghwa’s time and attention, you would have said no. If you weren’t so pathetically whipped for him, you would have said no.
“I’ll do it,” you said. “For how long do you need me to be your fake girlfriend?”
“Just until graduation. Then, we’ll fake break up and each go our separate ways. How does that sound?”
It sounded terrible! You wanted Seonghwa to be a part of your life forever. But with the way he was treating you, you weren’t confident he felt the same way anymore.
“Sounds great,” you lied, because you couldn’t give him the satisfaction of hearing your thoughts. You’d never be perceived as weak again.
The second you walked into school, Seonghwa’s arm wrapped possessively around your shoulder, everyone’s eyes were on you. It was like high-schoolers had no better thing to occupy their time with but to gossip around the latest dating news. If you weren’t enjoying his company so much, you would have found their reactions pathetic. And somewhat unnerving.
“When did you two lovebirds start seeing each other?” one of Seonghwa’s popular friends Yunho asked.
“Oh, you know what they say. A girl and a guy can’t stay just friends for long,” Seonghwa responded.
You internally rolled your eyes. Your best friend before the summer would have never said such a thing. Whatever the reason for his current behaviour was, you would get to the bottom of it. And right now, you felt like going along with this whole fake dating thing was your best chance at unraveling the mystery.
For the first day of your little arrangement, everything seemed to be going fine. Everyone was staring at you two but you didn’t mind. All you cared about was him. However, soon enough Seonghwa started asking you for weird things.
“Carry my bag for me.” / “Get me a drink from the vending machine, will you?” / “Bring me a snack from the supermarket across the street.” / “Oh, and for my friends, too, doll.”
Seriously, it was getting infuriating. You no longer felt like you were his bestie. You didn’t even feel like you were his fake girlfriend. At this point, you had practically become his slave! Running any errand and carrying his stuff for him. But what was the alternative? If you refused to play your part in this pretend dating scheme, he could easily turn against you and make fun of you in front of the whole school. So, you kept your mouth shut and swallowed your pride.
One evening, around a month after the fake dating agreement had started, you had stayed in the library a bit longer to prepare for an upcoming assignment. By the time you were out of the school building, you supposed that Seonghwa had already gone home. Frankly, the only nice thing he was intent on doing for you was driving you to school and back to your place most of the days.
As you were making your way towards the bus stop, you had the strangest suspicion you were being followed. Not daring to turn around, you started walking faster. But unfortunately, your attackers also sped up and soon enough, you were surrounded by a group of angry faces. Their leader was obviously Eunhee, the most popular girl in the whole school. And coincidentally, this was also the girl whose parents were doing business with Seonghwa’s parents. The very reason you were fake dating your best friend in the first place.
“Well, if it isn’t the little bookshrimp,” she mocked you, sticking a sharp nail into your chest. You didn’t bother correcting her that the right term was bookworm. You were already in enough trouble as it was. For some reason, teasing Seonghwa had been easy because you meant well and you were sure he wouldn’t hurt you. Not really. Because he knew how badly you’d been bullied in middle school. But now that you were met with so many threatening figures, you froze rightaway, unable to defend yourself.
“Just l-leave me alone,” you stammered.
“Aw, aren’t you a little pathetic shrimpie?” Eunhee cooed and started pulling your hair harshly and kicking you onto the ground. The other girls were holding you down so that you wouldn’t fight back. “Did you seriously believe you can steal Seonghwa from me? We’re meant to be together and if you stand in our way, I will fucking kill you!”
“S-stop, you’re hurting me!” you exclaimed sorrowfully. You tried your best to shield yourself and push her away but her loyal minions were preventing you from doing so. Just as Eunhee was about to slap you across the face, you witnessed as her threatening hand was stopped mid-air by the interloper whose features you couldn’t quite discern in the dark. But whose voice you would recognize anywhere.
“You think you’re so brave?” Seonghwa yelled at Eunhee and her friends. “Ganging up on her like that? Six against one? You’re the pathetic ones.”
“Hwa, we were just trying to teach her a lesson. She should learn her place, after all,” Eunhee tried to explain.
“A lesson?” he scoffed. “You dumbasses can’t even pass Calculus and you want to teach the smartest girl in our school a lesson?” your heart melted with warmth at how highly he thought of you. “Oh, that’s rich.”
“You won’t tell my dad, right?” Eunhee was suddenly on the defensive. She’d probably be in big trouble if he found out how his precious daughter was behaving in school.
“Get out of my sight right now or I’ll tell the whole country,” Seonghwa threatened through gritted teeth. (Later on, he actually did tell her dad about the incident and Eunhee, along with her followers, were suspended from school for two weeks. Oh, and their rich parents cut off their money, which was pretty impressive an accomplishment). And so, the vicious girls scattered like roaches in daylight. Pulling you onto your feet, Seonghwa grabbed your hand and started walking towards his car which you somehow hadn’t noticed parked nearby. Getting inside, he started the engine immediately but his hands were clutching the steering wheel so hard you were feeling a bit scared. You had never seen your best friend so angry. Well, maybe the only other time that came close was when you were telling him about your past experiences with bullying...
“Are you mad at me?” you asked sheepishly.
“At you?” he chuckled harshly. “Why would I be mad at you? You didn’t do anything wrong.”
“I don’t know...”
“Why didn’t you fight them back?” Seonghwa inquired.
“I tried, but I was reminded of middle school and just...froze. I’m sorry.”
“It’s alright, I’m not blaming you,” he replied calmly. “I was just wondering. Cause I know you’ve been going to self-defense classes. And I thought you were making progress. I mean, the last time I came to watch, you were pretty good.”
That was before the summer. Of course it was. Still, you were touched by the fact that he remembered. Despite acting like he didn’t care, you instinctively knew he did.
“I mean, I was,” you said. “But I panicked.”
Seonghwa let go of the wheel with one hand and placed it on your bare knee, rubbing calming circles around it. You two were alone so you were certain this was no longer the fake dating thing. This was just your best friend being there for you when you needed him the most.
“If anyone tries that shit again, just tell them you’re my girlfriend, alright? They have to be idiots to mess with you,” he spoke angrily.
“Fake girlfriend,” you reminded him sadly.
“That’s none of their business,” he replied, but didn’t correct you. Oh, how badly you wished to be his real girlfriend. To show him how much you cared for him.
“Why did you change so much over the summer?” you suddenly asked, while Seonghwa was driving you home.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” Seonghwa responded harshly. “You don’t like my green hoodie and you also don’t like my leather jacket? There’s really no satisfying you, is there?”
“I didn’t mean your clothes,” you mumbled. “Just...your overall attitude towards me. Before the summer you used to let me squeeze your cheeks and sit in your lap and now you seem so...unapproachable. I’m just saying, we were closer when I was your best friend than we are now that I’m your fake girlfriend.”
Seonghwa stopped the car abruptly, making you blink in shock.
“I changed because I was sick of you treating me like a little boy and I wanted you to start seeing me as a man,” he admitted but without looking into your eyes.
“W-what are you saying?” you swallowed nervously.
“Nevermind.”
“No, you have to talk to me, Hwa!” you insisted desperately. “If you still consider me your best friend, be honest with me. Please.”
“This,” he gestured vaguely at you as he finally met your gaze. “This is exactly why I changed so much, Y/N. I don’t want to be your best friend anymore.”
His cruel words hurt you more than anything you’d ever experienced in your life. More than all the bullying, the slapping and getting pushed against a wall. Losing your best friend was your worst fear. But you had promised yourself to never be weak again. So the second he said that, you pulled the handle of the side door, attempting to get out of his car. Before you could do that, Seonghwa grabbed your hand, effectively keeping you in place.
“I want to be your boyfriend. For real this time,” he elaborated.
You stared at him in utter confusion.
“But...when I confessed, you acted like you didn’t care. Like I meant nothing to you.”
“Forget how I acted. I only offered the fake dating shit because I wanted to get closer to you again. Make up for the lost time during the summer. Do you honestly think I give a fuck about what Eunhee thinks or says about me? I just used that as an excuse. I’ve told her I’m not into her hundreds of times. And yes, maybe I have changed. Not because I don’t care about you. But because I do. You used to gush about Count Dracula and Darth Vader so much that I thought if I became the bad guy, you’d finally notice me. I wanted so terribly to impress you and make you stop seeing me as your adorable best friend that I got too lost in the feeling of holding power over you...Too lost to notice you liked me all along, didn’t you?”
“I did,” you whispered teary-eyed. “I do,” correcting yourself. “H-hwa, I’m so sorry to break it to you but-”
“If you reject me, I won’t be responsible for attempted murder,” Seonghwa interrupted you jokingly.
“I’m so sorry to break it to you,” you repeated with a sly smirk. “But no matter how hard you try to change, I will always see you as my adorable best friend. And though I have to admit I did stop teasing you temporarily, that was only because you suddenly started behaving like the dangerously sexy king of the high school. Can you blame me for feeling a little intimidated? I know I’ve said this before but I didn’t think me teasingly calling you Kermit would go this far. I never meant to hurt you, Hwa.”
“I know you didn’t, princess,” Seonghwa whispered, gently stroking your cheeks.
“And yes,” you smiled shyly, leaning into his touch.
“Yes, what?”
“Yes, I want to be your real girlfriend. It would be a dream come true.”
“Yeah?” he chuckled, as if the very idea seemed amusing to him. “How badly do you want it?”
“So badly, I would do anything for you, sir,” you uttered the last word without thinking much, your brain somehow recalling a time when you two had discussed how you’d enjoy being called by a potential significant other. In retrospect, that wasn’t really a thing best friends generally talked about.
“Sir?” Seonghwa grinned, leaning his head against your forehead. “Keep that up and your real girlfriend status will be confirmed.”
“I want to kiss you so much,” you were on the verge of begging. Oh, screw it. “Please, please, let me kiss you.”
He didn’t respond, just connected your lips with his own softly, taking his time with you. It was pure magic. You had thought about kissing your best friend thousands of times. But nothing compared to the reality. Parting your lips further to let his tongue in, you physically couldn’t prevent yourself from moaning into his mouth, overwhelmed by how good it felt. How insanely intoxicating he tasted. How you were burning alive and it would be the sweetest death imaginable.
“Not if I kiss you first,” Seonghwa said once he broke the kiss apart. “Oh, wait, I just did.”
What the hell...had just happened? Sneaking a peak at the time, you were suddenly panicking by how late it was.
“Holy shit, my parents are going to kill me!” you exclaimed. “Can you please drive me home?”
“Sure thing, princess,” he laughed, increasingly amused by your flustered self. “That’s exactly what I was intending to do anyways. I’m not in the habit of keeping little girls past their bed time.”
“Shut up, I’m not a little girl!” you complained. “I’m just a few months younger than you. Asshole.”
“Hey! Is that any way to speak to your devoted boyfriend?” Seonghwa scolded you teasingly.
Oh, God. You loved the sound of that. Your best friend was now your boyfriend. It still felt unreal.
“I’m sorry, sir,” you mewled apologetically, already knowing how to make him weak for you with just one tiny word. “And thank you for taking me home.”
“Anytime,” Seonghwa smiled. “See you tomorrow, baby.”
You could get used to it. Reaching forward to open the door for you, he whispered in your ear:
“I’m taking you out on our first date. Doll yourself up for me, will you?”
You nodded, your heart beating too fast to actually manage a verbal response. After you got inside and suffered a brief interrogation from your parents (using the library+extra assignments excuse), you hurried up the stairs, took a quick shower and then went to bed. No sooner had you closed your eyes than your phone buzzed with notifications.
Kermit the Frog: You still up?
Kermit the Frog: For fear of sounding lame, I moss you already
Kermit the Frog: *Miss...damn autocorrect
You chuckled upon seeing his messages. Whatever demon possessed you to still keep that nickname in your chat, you knew you had to change it immediately. If he saw it on your first date tomorrow, you would never hear the end of it.
You: I’m awake, yes
You: And I moss you too 😉
You purposefully misspelled the word to tease him. After all, it was only in order.
Boyfie 🐸: That obnoxious Kermit nickname better be gone by tomorrow
He texted as if he’d read your mind and you gasped in surprise.
Boyfie 🐸: Or we’re having our first couple fight!!
You: How did you know?!?
Boyfie 🐸: Not my fault you keep your phone unlocked sometimes
Boyfie 🐸: I’m not kidding, change it right now 😡
You: Changed it already
You texted him back quickly, sending him a screenshot.
You: Can I at least keep the frog emoji? 🥺
Boyfie 🐸: NO!!! REMOVE IT OR WE BREAK UP 😡😡😡
You: Damnit, Hwa, your angery Aries is showing...okay, fineee
You sent another screenshot of the now changed emoji.
You: Happy now?
Boyfie ❤️🖤💙: Much better, princess 🤗🤗🤗
Boyfie ❤️🖤💙: Now go to sleep, we have early classes tomorrow
You: Wow, so bossy. Okay, sir, I’m going
Boyfie ❤️🖤💙: Good night, my baby 😘
You: Staaahp, ohmygosh. And good night, Hwa 🥺
The next morning you ran outside faster than The Flash as soon as you heard the oh-so-familiar honks. When you saw Seonghwa waiting there to pick you up, your heart did a backflip as you excitedly took the passenger seat.
“Good morning, boyfriend,” you greeted him and kissed his cheek. “This still feels so strange.”
“Well, you better get used to it, doll. Wow, you really cleaned up nicely today,” he complimented your pastel pink dress. “Not that you usually don’t! You’re always gorgeous, I just meant that you’re especially gorgeous and...nope, that also sounds wrong. Okay, I shut up now.”
“Relax,” you giggled. “It’s fine. I appreciate the effort. You don’t look so bad yourself. Oh, who am I kidding? You’re practically sex on legs 24/7. I think it’s time for me to shut up now.”
“You’re so cute when you get flustered. Anyone ever tell you that?”
“Just you,” you admitted.
Once you walked into the school, it was like everyone noticed the subtle change in your dynamic. Because Seonghwa did something he never did before. He carried your bag and gave you his leather jacket! And Hwa’s friends were immediately onto you like bees to honey.
“I mean, I knew you guys were dating,” Seonghwa’s friend Yunho observed. “But I never saw the chemistry before, to be honest. Until now. I mean, come on, Y/N was like a loyal puppy, always following Hwa around.”
“Hey, don’t give him any ideas!” you joked.
“Too late. Already ordered the collar,” Seonghwa winked.
“Kinky. Can’t tell if I’m into it or want to cut off my ears,” Yunho grinned. “Probably both.”
“Nice chat, but we gotta head to class, Yu,” Seonghwa said because his friend was in a different class.
“See you for lunch?” Yunho suggested.
“Can’t. Already made plans with this little girl,” Hwa tilted his head towards you.
“Whoo, enjoy, then!”
“It’s not what it sounds like!” you groaned, feeling uncharacteristically embarassed.
“Isn’t it?” Seonghwa smirked mysteriously and pulled you towards the room you had class in.
“Nothing involving collars and puppies, I assure you!” you yelled (perhaps a little too loudly), twisting your head, not wanting to give Yunho and the rest of Seonghwa’s friends the wrong idea.
When your classes for the day were over, Seonghwa led you towards his car once again. You were a bit nervous to make a good impression on your first date. Even though it was silly. Your best friend of four years had surely made a first impression a long time ago.
“Where are we going?” you asked to break the awkward silence.
“It’s a surprise, princess. Can you be patient for me?”
“I can,” you promised dutifully and placed your tiny hand on top of his. “Anything for you, sir.”
Seonghwa lost focus on the road for the briefest of moments in order to give you a warning look. One look and that was all you needed to keep you quiet and obedient. Eventually, you realized where he was taking you. Though you hadn’t been to his place for a couple of months now, you couldn’t forget how the drive to Seonghwa’s home looked.
“I dressed myself up and we’re just going to your place?” you hmphed in playful annoyance. “So much for our glamorous first date.”
“Don’t underestimate the power of my cooking skills. Shit, I sorta ruined the surprise, didn’t I?”
“Aww, you were planning to cook for me on our first date? Hwaaa, I’ve only had you as a boyfriend for less than 24 hours and you’re already pulling out the big guns! I don’t mean to push my luck but if you’re cooking now, I’m trembling to witness our one month anniversary.”
Seonghwa rolled his eyes.
“You’re very ambitious to think you can put up with me for an entire month.”
”Hwa, sweetie, I’ve put up with you for four years.”
“Not as your boyfriend, you haven’t.”
“We’ll talk again in 30 days,” you vowed enigmatically.
“Here we are,” Seonghwa announced once he parked in front of his home. “My parents are currently at work so you don’t need to worry about...well, anything, really.”
“What’s the supposed to mean?” for some reason his words made you even more worried.
“Nothing, I just meant you can...like, be yourself. There’s no one to impress.”
“There’s you,” you pointed out. “Don’t forget your parents already know me. And besides, you’re the only person I care about impressing.”
“Not to stroke your ego, but you’ve already impressed me. After all, you’re the only one who’s had the audacity to compare me to a freaking muppet and survived.”
“Point taken,” you chuckled.
“Come on, let’s get inside,” Seonghwa suggested and the two of you entered his house. No matter how much you begged him to let you help with the cooking, he was insistent that he would do all the work. Said something about making up to you for the times you had to carry his bag or buy snacks to him and his friends. When you argued that you also had some making up to do for all the times you teased him a little too insensitively, he said that you agreeing to be his real girlfriend was enough to satisfy his wounded heart. Seeing that there was no point in arguing, you gave up and occupied yourself by mindlessly scrolling through social media. About an hour later, Seonghwa finally deemed his culinary masterpieces ready to be eaten. He allowed you to at least help set the table which you considered a small victory. The second you tried the first meal, you were so overwhelmed by the exquisite tastes that you spoke without thinking much.
“God, I wanna marry you.”
Seonghwa simply chuckled, amused by your unexpected reaction.
“Did I say that out loud?” you whispered, completely mortified, covering your mouth in embarassment.
“I’m afraid so.”
“Shit, I’m such a mess,” you mumbled.
“No, it’s fine. I take it as a compliment. Now, eat up before it gets cold. If my wicked plan works, you’ll have bought me a wedding ring by the time dessert arrives.”
“Truly wicked. I’m in danger,” you laughed and kept enjoying the various meals Seonghwa had prepared.
Once the plates were empty, you felt so full and warm you couldn’t possibly move. And no, that wasn’t an exaggeration. Seonghwa had to physically carry you to the couch so that you two would re-watch Star Wars: Return of the Jedi together, warmly cuddled up under a blanket.
Suddenly, you were possessed by the urge to speak your mind and be as honest with him as possible. After hiding your true feelings for four years, now that you were finally given the chance to be yourself, you were feeling uncharacteristically brave.
“You know, even though I was messing around earlier, I had indeed daydreamed about marrying you back in our first year of high school. You were the first boy who ever treated me like I wasn’t the walking joke of the universe. The first who ever hung out with me not as a prank but because you actually saw me as a friend. When I started teasing you about your cute habits, I hope you know I never wished to hurt you. I just wanted to show you that I notice and appreciate every single detail about you. So, yeah, I really like you, Hwa. Have liked you for a long time.”
Seonghwa had paused the movie the second you started talking. And now that you were done sharing your thoughts, he seemed unable to say anything. The silence was a bit awkward so you interrupted it once again.
“I’m sorry, that was silly. I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable so early in our re-”
This time, he interrupted you with a kiss, pulling you into his lap, just like the good old days. You smiled into his mouth, wrapping your arms around him.
“It wasn’t silly. I appreciate you saying all that,” Seonghwa reassured you. “And for the record, I know you meant well with all the teasing. In a sense, a part of me even suspected that you liked me back. But I was also feeling a bit insecure. I kept thinking that you could do so much better than go out with dorky Kermit guy who has an obsession with tidying up, you know? That you deserved someone else. But I couldn’t allow anyone else to be that someone. So, I changed myself.”
“Maybe you did change a little. But in my heart, you’re always going to be my Frog Prince Hwa.”
“I hate you so much,” he rolled his eyes.
“Naw, you don’t.”
“Fine. I hate that you’re right.”
Things between you and Seonghwa were going great. It had been three months since you two started dating for real. He was super attentive and caring towards you. However, you were a bit bummed out since not much changed compared to his behaviour as your best friend and as your boyfriend. Sure, you did start kissing each other and occasionally making out (which wasn’t exactly a best friend activity). But there was one thing that still had not happened. And the more time passed, the more anxious you felt to bring it up.
One evening, you had miraculously convinced your parents to let you have a sleepover at Seonghwa’s place. After insisting that nothing out of the ordinary was going on between you two and even if something unusual did happen (which you highly doubted but secretly hoped for), you were going to use protection (and no, you were certainly not referring to Seonghwa’s collection of action figures who carried weapons).
As you and your boyfriend were enjoying your snacks while watching TV from the comfort of his bed, you couldn’t help but finally raise the question that had been tormenting your mind for a while now.
“S-seonghwa...do you not find me attractive?”
“What the hell are you asking me that for? Would you be my girlfriend if I didn’t find you attractive?”
“Well, I don’t know. I’ve never dated anyone before so...I was just wondering if there’s a particular reason why we still haven’t...taken things to the next level?”
“The next level?” he chuckled. “Relationships aren’t video games. And to answer your question, the reason’s actually the exact opposite of your concerns. We haven’t done anything more than making out because I find you ridiculously attractive. And it’s taking every last inch of my self-restraint to not pressure you into something you’re not comfortable with. I just wanted to wait until you’re ready.”
“Ready? So you knew that I haven’t...with anyone...yet?” you purposefully left out some words because you were feeling incredibly shy discussing this with Seonghwa.
“Of course I knew, princess. You’re my best friend. And my girlfriend.”
“Well, that’s a relief, at least. That you’re not repulsed by my...inexperience.”
“Why would I be when we’re in the same boat?”
“We are?” you whispered in shock.
“Why do you look so surprised?” Seonghwa laughed. “I’ve had the biggest crush on you since forever. Did you honestly think I would just screw anyone else?”
“Well, it’s not like you didn’t have options,” you pointed out, referring to all the potential love interests swarming around him like bees. “Unlike me.”
“Are you regretful, little girl?” he inquired, running a lazy finger across your cheek. “Jealous?”
“No, I just...want to be the best for you, sir,” you confessed nervously.
“You’re already the best I could hope for,” Seonghwa responded and kissed you hungrily, burying his hands into your hair.
“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” you curiously needed to know. “That you haven’t either...”
“It’s not something that comes up in everyday conversation?” he pointed out. “What was I supposed to say? Hi, bestie, let’s have lunch together. Oh and by the way, I’m a hopeless virgin pining over you?”
“You’re right,” you laughed. “It would have made things awkward.”
“Now, unless you have any other pressing issues, I suggest we go back to kissing.”
And without giving you the time to argue, Seonghwa devoured your lips rightaway, gently pushing you down so that your back hit the sheets. Then, he started slowly taking off your jeans. Anxiously trembling under his vigorous touch, you placed a hand against his chest. He immediately noticed and put a temporary halt to his ministrations.
“We don’t have to do this right now,” he comforted you with all the seriousness in his voice.
“No, I want to, I swear,” you nodded eagerly.
“Princess, you’re literally shaking,” Seonghwa remarked.
“What’s wrong with me?” you sighed.
“There’s nothing wrong with you. You’re perfect. Tell me to stop if you feel even the slightest hint of hesitation or discomfort and I will, I promise.”
“I know you would, Hwa. I trust you. But even if I’m a bit nervous, I want to do this with you. Please?”
“Well, I can’t deny you since you’re asking so nicely,” he grinned and continued where he left off. “Can I get rid of these?” Seonghwa inquired, carefully pushing your panties to the side.
“Yes, you can do anything to me.”
“Oh, sweetheart, you really shouldn’t have said that,” he chuckled darkly and tore your underwear savagely. You couldn’t even gather the energy to complain about the ruination of your new pair, you were far too turned on by Seonghwa’s aggressive nature to care. He didn’t waste any more time, grabbing your thighs to hold them in place, he began licking your pussy with his tongue and stimulating it with his long fingers. It didn’t take long for you to start squirming beneath his touch, helplessly moaning his name. He didn’t cease his merciless movements until you reached your orgasm. When your breathing finally eased, you gathered the energy to speak again:
“I thought you said you’ve never done this before? How were you so...so...”
“So good?” Seonghwa smirked confidently and bit his lower lip. “I mean...I’ve seen videos. Read some things here and there.”
“Honestly? I think you’re a god.”
“You’ll have to stop complimenting me so much or I’ll develop a god complex,” he joked. “What do you want to do next, baby?”
“I want to suck you off,” you mumbled.
“Who taught you such dirty language?”
“Hey! I read, too,” you pouted and assuredly made your way towards the carpet next to his bed.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Seonghwa asked.
“Aren’t I supposed to kneel in order to pleasure you, sir?”
“Princesses never kneel,” he instructed and got up from the bed, urging you to lie down with your head hanging from the very edge of the bed and make yourself comfortable. “Open up that pretty little mouth for me, will you?”
You did as he asked obediently and even went the extra mile to stick your tongue out. Unbuckling his belt and throwing it to the side, Seonghwa was quick to follow your wishes and let his cock spring free from his jeans. Your mouth went dry at the sight of his monstrous size. Seeing your worries if it will fit reflected in your eyes, he expressed his concern for you:
“Are you sure about this?”
“Please, please, I need you,” you whimpered without thinking, eager to have a taste. Without making you wait any longer, Seonghwa pushed the tip of his cock inside, gently letting your cheeks get used to the unfamiliar feeling. Slowly, he went deeper, allowing you to acquaint yourself with the stretch. When you kept blinking at him in anticipation, he realized you were ready for more and began moving faster, fucking into your mouth at a steady pace. As he neared his high, his motions became less controlled you were sucking more intently, impatient to swallow every last drop of him.
“Shit, I’m going to-” he attempted to break away, but you managed to wrap your hands at the back of his legs in order to keep his cock inside your mouth.
Seconds later, he released his cum and you began drinking it thirstily. When you had made certain that no drop was wasted, you finally let go of his legs, allowing your boyfriend’s dick to dangle freely outside of your mouth.
“You’re fucking incredible,” Seonghwa praised you and placed a soft kiss on the top of your head. “My incredible girl.”
“I’m only yours, sir,” you mumbled, way too affected by him.
“You like this, don’t you?” he mocked you teasingly.
“Yes, sir, I want to belong to you,” you whimpered and turned around to pull him back into bed.
“Your wish is my command, princess,” Seonghwa smiled fondly and took a mysterious package out of the back pocket of his jeans. Soon enough, you realized what it was, as he started lining up the condom on his cock.
“Oooh, I brought one of those, as well!” you exclaimed in surprise.
“You came here on a mission, didn’t you? Wicked little thing,” he tsked in fake disapproval.
“It’s not my fault you’re walking around like an Adonis,” you defended yourself boldly.
“You’re one to speak. Freaking goddess,” Seonghwa complimented you and slowly began unbuttoning your shirt you had somehow forgotten you were still wearing. “Is this okay?” he asked softly, always making sure you were feeling safe.
“More than okay,” you consented. Left in nothing but your baby pink bra, you unintentionally shivered at the sudden cold air surrounding you. Soon after that, Seonghwa undid the clasps and you were now only wearing your birthday suit. Feeling a bit timid, you self-consciously covered your breasts and broke eye contact with your boyfriend.
“Hey, hey, look at me,” he pressed the palm of his hand against your cheek. “Do you want to stop?”
You weakly shook your head and somehow managed to gather the strength to look into his beautifully dark eyes once again.
“Then, let me see you, yeah?” Seonghwa nudged your hands away gently. “You’re so beautiful, baby.”
You blushed at his sudden praise and allowed him to have a look. But seconds later, you were getting a bit impatient.
“Please, Hwa, I want you so much.”
“Anything for my princess,” he chuckled and coaxed his tip at your entrance slowly. When you gave him a sign he could go deeper, his movements became bolder. “Fuck, you’re taking me so well.”
“M-more, sir, I swear I can do this,” you begged as you were beginning to unravel beneath him. As he fucked you faster into oblivion, you were no longer thinking straight and his name was the only word you were capable of uttering. Over and over again. Until you both came, blissfully lost in each other’s arms.
“Here, let me clean you up,” Seonghwa offered sweetly, picking you up with little effort and carrying you to the bathtub.
When he started shampooing your hair, rubbing body lotion into your sensitive skin and covering your neck with soft kisses, you couldn’t stop your tears from falling, touched by his infinite tenderness and by the sheer intimacy of the gesture.
“Darling, are you crying?” he questioned you upon hearing your hiccups.
“N-no,” you lied but it was useless, because it was quite obvious you were, in fact, bawling your eyes out.
“Did I hurt you, my sweet princess?” Seonghwa asked in concern.
“How...how could you think that?” you whimpered. “You’ve been nothing but kind and caring towards me. It’s just that...this is the first time I’ve felt so...special, so worthy, so...”
“Loved?” he offered the word you had been seeking for but had been too scared to utter out loud.
“Y-yeah,” you confirmed shyly. “Is it too early to say this? I’m sorry if it is but...I love you, Seonghwa.”
He simply stared at you in disbelief for a couple of seconds. This time, you were once again the one to break the deafening silence.
“You don’t have to say it back. I just...I wanted you to know. It’s okay if you don’t feel the same way but-”
“I love you too, baby. Of course I do,” Seonghwa reassured you. “And I’m not just saying it, I don’t feel obliged to say it. As my best friend, you know me better than anyone else. And you know I don’t do things unless I want to. So, believe me when I say this.”
“Fuck,” you uttered and only started crying harder in his arms.
“Shhh, you’re safe with me, sweetheart. I would never harm you,” he comforted you and stroked your hair lovingly, putting all your worries and self-doubts at the very back of your head.
After you were all dried up from the bath and had put on your boyfriend’s shirt while he was still in the shower, you were feeling uncharacteristically confident. Confident enough to look for something you hadn’t seen for a while. You had been wondering if he had it hanging around somewhere in his wardrobe. And after a short period of rummaging you found your treasure. The green hoodie. The Kermit hoodie. You smiled mischievously as you changed into it. It still smelled like him, you beamed. Back when he was simply your best friend, the amount of times you had fantasized about him lending it to you should have been illegal. So now that you had been promoted to his girlfriend, you simply couldn’t let such an opportunity pass you by.
Once Seonghwa got out of the shower, water droplets running down the divine skin on his bare chest, you were too busy staring at him in all his beauty and glory to notice the angry look on his face.
“How did you even find this? It was hidden so well in my wardrobe,” he scowled.
“Don’t be mad,” you pouted adorably. “I look so cute in it, right?”
“Cuter than me, that’s for sure,” Seonghwa rolled his eyes and tickled your belly.
“That’s impossible, you make the cutest Kermit,” you giggled, enjoying how easy it was to get on his nerves.
“You’ll never let me live this down, will you?” he groaned.
“Never ever, my stunning Frog Prince,” you vowed and kissed him quickly, taking him by surprise. His eyes widened in shock and he seemed too flustered to continue scolding you.
“You’re in luck today. Nothing can ruin my good mood,” Seonghwa was determined.
“Great,” you grinned gleefully. “Cause from now on, I intend on making all your days filled with joy.”
“From now on?” he chuckled sarcastically. “Oh, princess, my days have been filled with nothing but joy ever since I met you.”
And indeed, both Seonghwa’s days and yours were nothing but pure happiness ever since you decided to make your relationship real. And despite his foolish statement that he no longer wanted to be your best friend, you had somehow managed to convince him that he was both your boyfriend and bestie and that was perfectly okay. As if in the blink of an eye, spring came which meant that the whole school was in nervous excitement about the upcoming prom. Generally, you weren’t the type to get overwhelmed about such a trivial topic. But now that you were dating Seonghwa, the most popular guy in the school, you couldn’t help but worry a little. What if he wanted to go with someone else? Someone equal in “status”? Your worries and insecurities further intensified when he started asking questions in a weird way.
“I need your help,” Seonghwa blurted out over lunch.
“Shoot.”
“Okay, so, I have this friend. And he really likes this girl and wants to ask her to prom. What do you think would make her happy?”
You blinked in surprise. You knew that when people pulled the “I’m just asking for a friend” card, they were most likely talking about themselves. Was he seriously thinking of inviting another girl to prom? You tensed a little but tried really hard to remain neutral in your answer and actually make an attempt to help your bestie.
“I mean, all girls are different,” you reasoned. “If you describe her to me, maybe I’ll be able to give a more appropriate suggestion.”
“She’s a bit like you. You know, kinda bookish and-”
“It’s alright, Seonghwa, you can say it. I’m a nerd.”
“Well, yes, but...”
“It’s not exactly a slur,” you chuckled coldly.
“I know, but that’s what your bullies in middle school called you. I didn’t mean to sound insensitive,” Hwa put his hand on top of yours in a gentle, comforting manner.
“It’s fine when if you say it,” you smiled. “I won’t get offended.”
“I was going to say my friend’s crush is intelligent like you but, oh well.”
“That does sound better, I admit,” you giggled.
“She’s also a bit shy and introverted so maybe she wouldn’t enjoy a public promposal. Crowds tend to make her nervous,” Seonghwa observed.
“Seems like you didn’t need my help after all,” you scoffed playfully.
“No, I do! I still haven’t come up with an actual way to propose. I mean, for my friend.”
“Right. Your friend. Well, he can’t go wrong with some poetry under her balcony. If she has one, that is.”
“I’m pretty sure she does.” Seonghwa smirked. “Alright, thanks.”
He jumped from his seat, not even having finished his lunch.
“Wait, where are you going?”
“I gotta prepare my friend’s promposal,” he shrugged and disappeared from your sight, leaving you a bit crest-fallen. If he was intending on asking you, he wouldn’t have turned to you for help, right? That would sorta ruin the element of surprise, wouldn’t it? And yet, you knew that Seonghwa wasn’t the type to care about people’s opinions and randomly ask a more popular girl out because of public demand. And he definitely wasn’t the kind of person to just date you for kicks and then ditch you at prom. Despite those very logical reasons, you couldn’t help but feel a little anxious.
A week later, you realized all your worries had been for nothing. It was a Sunday morning and you had just finished having breakfast with your family. You were leisurely reading on your bed when you heard some suspicious noises coming from your window. You looked up from your book and you could swear you saw tiny rocks hitting the glass! You jumped up angrily, half-expecting to find a bunch of neighbour kids pulling a prank. But you were surprised when you spotted your boyfriend standing under your balcony. Wearing his iconic green hoodie.
“What are you doing here?” you whispered, though a hopeful part of you already knew the answer.
“But, soft! what light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun. Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,” he recited diligently in a song-like manner.
You couldn’t help but chuckle at his overdramatic acting but it was the effort that touched you immensely.
“And none but fools do wear it; cast it off. It is my lady, O, it is my love! O, that she knew she were!” he continued sweetly.
You were so in love with this man it was insane.
“Two of the fairest stars in all the heaven, Having some business, do entreat her eyes To twinkle in their spheres till they return,” Seonghwa kept going.
You couldn’t resist the urge to leap off the balcony. It was just the second floor so what could possibly go wrong? Other than a scraped knee and a bit of a limp. God, you were such an idiot.
“Shit, are you okay?” Seonghwa asked in terror and wrapped his arms around you.
“The excruciating pain is worth it if I get to hug you like this,” you grinned, leaning against him for support.
“Why couldn’t you just walk down the stairs like a normal person?”
“And what’s romantic about that?” you joked. “Jumping off a balcony makes for a much better story.”
“You’re impossible.”
“Only for you, my sweet Frogmeo!” you teased and kissed his cheek.
“Wait, I wasn’t finished!” Seonghwa exclaimed excitedly, not bothering to act offended about your obsession with him and that Kermit hoodie. “There was something about cheeks, I swear.”
“See, how she leans her cheek upon her hand!” you helped him out dutifully.
“O, that I were a glove upon that hand, That I might touch that cheek!” he finished proudly and placed his palm against your cheek.
“Only you could possibly mix Romeo and Juliet with The Frog Prince and somehow make it work,” you praised him.
“Does that mean you’ll go to prom with me?” Seonghwa tilted his head to the side adorably.
“Of course I will, baby,” you responded happily.
“Thank God, ‘cause learning that monologue drained my soul and brain,” he whistled playfully.
“You know, you had me worried there for a second,” you confessed reluctantly, because you didn’t want to keep any secrets from your doting boyfriend.
“When?” Seonghwa asked in confusion.
“Lunchtime. A week ago. When you asked me for advice. I thought that...”
“That I would ask someone else?” he correctly guessed your suspicions. And you nodded. “Have I ever given you a reason to doubt me?”
“No, you’re perfect. In fact, too perfect. It makes me feel like I don’t deserve you.”
Seonghwa smiled sadly and kissed the top of your head. But he wasn’t angry with you. Just wanted to erase those silly thoughts from your mind.
“You deserve so much more, princess. But I’ll try my best to give you all I can.”
“As will I,” you promised and mischievously pulled the drawstrings on his hoodie, making his face squished adorably.
“If this is the best you’re capable of, I dread to see your worst,” he shook his head in amusement.
“Prince Frogmeo and the Nerdy Princess,” you sighed wistfully. “That would make a hell of a fairy tale, wouldn’t it?”
“How about Kermit the Frog whoops the Princess’s ass for being a brat?” Seonghwa threatened jokingly.
“You know what? I wouldn’t say no to that,” you giggled and started running away from him. “If you catch me first!”
Prom night arrived and despite all the preparations and excitements around it, it was nothing special in itself. What made it special, however, were the moments you spent with Seonghwa. Just dancing and talking seemed to be enough to make your heart leap with joy. And the smile never left your face the entire night.
“School’s really ending, huh?” you spoke aloud without thinking, while you were swaying slightly to the music in your boyfriend’s arms.
“This isn’t the end of us. We’ll go to college, we’ll grow up. The best is yet to come, darling.”
“You know what I meant,” you replied, a hint of sadness tinging your tone. “In college, I’ll study Literature, you’ll study Music. We’ll no longer be able to sit next to each other in class or exchange notes or hold hands under the desk.”
“We’ll do all sorts of other things,” Seonghwa responded cheerfully, trying to think positive. “We’ll have study dates in college, we’ll visit new restaurants and make more memories together. Just because high school is over, doesn’t mean we are. I’m not giving up on my best friend ever.”
“Your girlfriend,” you corrected him playfully.
“My best friend,” he repeated. “You were right. Being in love with each other doesn’t nullify our friendship. Both are equally important to me. You are the most important to me.”
“God, Hwa, how can you say such things so easily?”
“Is your heart fluttering?” your boyfriend and best friend teased you, swirling you around while dancing. You were met with his beautiful dark gaze again as he murmured: “Hi, princess.”
“H-hi, S-seonghwa,” you chuckled in response.
And you were finally home.
The End

a chanbaek analysis from a veteran exo-l (part 2)
Tumblr media
CLICK HERE TO READ PART ONE
Writing this was a bit harder in comparison to the first part, because I wanted to organize things into a neat timeline, but I ended up not having enough patience for it lol specially because both of ChanBaek's main archive blogs seem to have deleted their pages documenting each date of EXO's early years. Therefore I apologize in advance if this part is a bit more messy. Also, please don't forget that all of this is my opinion and I don't mean for any of it to be taken as truth!
I kind of want to jump from MAMA era directly into Wolf era, since we don't really have a lot of cover regarding their debut phase besides Chanyeol's overeagerness and Baekhyun's awkwardness towards it, so to sum it up, I felt as if Chanyeol was more confident and consistent on what he thought an idol should act like, while Baekhyun (sweet, innocent Baekhyun who was a trainee for less than a year!) was still unsure on how to act on camera.
On the few early variety shows/interviews EXO appeared on, the members always pointed out how funny Baekhyun was, how good he'd be at variety and at doing imitations, but he never really lived up to all the praise on camera, although off of it, he most likely was as good as his members claimed.
He was a bit stiff on his early days in comparison to what we see today, and that's normal, I guess, since he debuted really quickly, but when you compare him to Chanyeol the contrast is so interesting, because the latter was able to latch on to a persona as soon as the public gave him one, while to me, Baekhyun was still doubtful regarding what to put on display. In the end, deep inside, Baekhyun is a private person, and was even more so when he wasn't confident enough to talk to fans like he does today.
Once again, I’m sorry for not being able to upload the gifs directly into the post, so I’ll just link them like I did on my last one.
This is another one of the moments where Baek appears to tell Chanyeol to just. Hold on for a bit.
There's another one similar to this where Chanyeol does the same thing (try to whisper on Baekhyun's ear) and Baekhyun fake laughs and stares at a fan's camera right after. Then, his expression just goes blank. It's really interesting to watch because you can just see the gears spinning on Chanyeol's brain as he stares at Baekhyun for a second and clearly thinks alright, fanservice time, and leans in to whisper something: it happens so fast you just know it wasn't genuine whispering, just a playful interaction for the fans, and Baekhyun's direct stare to the camera as soon as it happens just confirms this for me.
1: Chanyeol spots his target.
Tumblr media
2: He’s really thinking this through.
Tumblr media
3: Baek's in a perfect position for whispering-time, so he leans in and does his thing.
Tumblr media
4: Baekhyun laughs.
Tumblr media
5: And stares directly at a fan's camera.
Tumblr media
6: Immediately regrets his life choices. Chanyeol looks pleased.
Tumblr media
It's actually better to watch the whole thing, so I'll leave it here. (starts on 0:28!)
(Random note: on this date EXO perfomed a cover of H.O.T's We Are The Future, and I feel like a lot of new EXO-Ls have not seem it and I adore this performance, so I'll link it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1-z4s3fdgo)
Now let's jump on to Wolf era, shall we?
Wolf era
I can't help but laugh when I think about how wild 2013 was for both EXO and EXO-Ls. They had their first hit song (which was Growl, not Wolf) the fandom grew considerably, shippers where just discovering the cute ISAC moments between "BaekYeol" and "HunHan"... Or at least that's how everyone remembers most of what happened during that year.
Are we forgetting the rumoured ChanBaek fight?
Considering their past interactions on airports, SMTOWN concerts, ISAC and other events, ChanBaek was now widely known to be close to each other. Baekhyun even said Chanyeol was the one who made him open up, and both of them mentioned feeling this "connection" to each other as soon as they met (although jokingly).
Tumblr media
After Mama, the fandom was content-less for a considerable period of time, and what most people did was sharing around old performances and repeat overused memes.  I think that in every fandom there is a period where fans establish their main inside jokes and basically just get together to create a collective line of thought for perceiving their idols. That being said, one of the most well established facts in the fandom was that Chanyeol and Baekhyun were close. That was a fact. But then Wolf came, and they suddenly were not.
This gif is a good example of how awkward their interactions were. Not even my delusional shipping brain in 2013 was able to come up with an explanation for it.
They simply did not acknowledge each other at all, and Chanyeol appeared to be closer to Kyungsoo (I think Baekhyun interacted a lot with Tao, but that may have been during the Growl era, not Wolf. As I said before, I'm a Chanyeol stan guys, sorry lmao).
Point is, these two boys who seemed to be best friends suddenly were clearly distant from one another.
What added fuel to the fire of the rumours was their appearance on Sukira, a radio show, where Sehun cried because the members sometimes had fights. Here's a fanacc:
[130530] EXO at Sukira
Sehun cried because the members sometimes fight.
Sehun: "Let's be loyal to each other, don't fight, and go until the end"
D.O: "We've been under a lot of stress lately because of the comeback, so I wish we won't fight in the future and do our best"
Here's a video cut of this part of their interview.
I think this ask on lets-talk-baekyeol, a popular ChanBaek analysis blog from back in the day, shows how curious a lot of fans were.
What happened back then?
There's really no answer for that. On my opinion, not even Chanyeol or Baekhyun could give us a concrete answer on it, because I don't think an actual fight happened. For me, it was most likely a personality clash, a disagreement that probably wasn't even voiced out loud, just both of them noticing how uncomfortable things got, if Baekhyun's reactions to Chanyeol's fanservice is any indication. I somehow doubt there was a specific episode that created this distance between them, specially because during Growl, they went back to being friends, although not as touchy on camera as before, as if one of them had established their limits (oh, I wonder who!), but I still have this feeling that all of this was unspoken, because unspoken things seem to be a pattern on ChanBaek's relationship (something I'll touch on later, hopefully).
But it was during Growl era that I noticed something else about Baekhyun.
Wolf era
EXO'S Showtime was a such a gift. I recommend reading lets-talk-baekyeol's blog for this. I don't really agree with everything they say they do present a lot of relevant points. I may repeat them here, since I noticed them myself as well, but credits for them nonetheless.
I remember finding the lack of ChanBaek interactions during the episodes really dissappointing, but considering the Wolf Era drought, this was better than nothing.
My 13 year old self was devastated when Baekhyun appeared so quiet during Chanyeol's birthday episode, and during a recent rewatch of it, I think realized why.
Baekhyun doesn't like superficial things. It's not that Chanyeol is insincere, but he's just better than Baekhyun is at handling people pleasing, even when he doesn't really mean what's he saying/doing. The Chanyeol birthday episode was heavily centered on Chanyeol's random admiration for Kai, which I think we can all agree that it was a little bit scripted or a really spur of the moment thing that they just ran along with and oh man. Baekhyun did not want to be part of it.
During ChanKai's hug, this is what he looked like on the background, and the poor boy even refused to eat cake. He's just in the back, which is weird, because he's such a talkative person and Chanyeol is one of his closest friends. The only moment where he seems to be genuinely comfortable is when Chanyeol blows the candle and it's really cute. To me, it seems that he was kind of embarrassed to witness so much acting from everyone else and was unable to participate because he struggles with things like this, but the moment Chanyeol blows his candles to comemorate his birthday seems sincere enough for him to fondly smile.
This ties in so well with everything from Mama Era. He's just unable to keep acting/people pleasing on the same easy way that Chanyeol does, but this time he's not as nervous about it as he was on his earlier-early days, where he probably felt pressured to actually do stuff. Now he just doesn't do **it, he just doesn't do something that he dislikes doing, and that sadly creates a distance between them on camera and probably on a deeper level in their relationship as well, because both are just realizing how different their perceptions over their jobs is.
There's also this moment that the mods on lets-talk-baekyeol pointed out.
On the Christmas episode, when the members leave the couch to go get their presents, Chanyeol stays seated while Baekhyun gets up to fetch his. This is the sitting arrangement before (almost) everyone got up:
Tumblr media
But when Baekhyun comes back, there's free space next to Chanyeol, however he's hesitant to sit by his side. He actually hesitates and doesn't sit down. Jongdae even gives him a little push right after.
Tumblr media
Baek just seems hesitant to do things on camera, to interact with Chanyeol in front of an audience. For this moment, I feel like he's afraid to sit next to Chanyeol and end up having to over act. It's not that Chanyeol himself makes him uncomfortable, but the image of the friendship that they ended up creating for fans demands a lot from him.
And when I say hesitant to do things on camera, I really do mean it, because when Baekhyun thinks he is not being recorded/seen, here's what he does:
Here and here.
Their relationship clearly changed, and I think the reason for it is actually simple: both of them were under the impression that they were compatible with each other when they actually were not. Their personalities are extremely different, even if the way they present themselves is sometimes similar. Wolf and Growl era was our way, as fans, of watching them navigate around each other and finding out how their relationship was supposed to work.
And you know what's nice about that? The members watched all of it unfold. Their reactions to some of ChanBaek's interaction is a gold mine when it comes to analyzing them, because they clearly know, just as we do, that their relationship is kind of complicated. But I want to talk about it on the next part.
I am sorry for cutting this off again! I don't know if the next part is going to be the last, because after Growl there's Overdose and we all know what happened on 2014 [coughs] dating scandal [coughs] god help me I don't want to talk about it [coughs] so there's a lot to uncover and I need time to organize stuff.
Thank you for reading!

The Covenant is such an incredibly bad movie that I’m surprised there are no Rifftrax for it. I know for a fact that I watched this movie back in 2007ish because I distinctly remember getting the DVD from the library where I worked, and yet, I rewatched it last night and kept doing the “I have no memory of this” Gandalf meme and questioning if there had been another movie with the same premise that came out at the same time and I’m misremembing which one I watched...
Anyway, there are entirely too many interchangeable Hot Boy(tm) characters and they are all utterly forgettable, but in the beginning you are introduced to them going to a party and three of them wanna cliff jump and be rowdy boys, but the fourth one is like “guys we can’t use magic!” and you know, instantly, that this wet blanket of a human being is Our Protagonist whose plight we are going to be inexplicably asked to care about for an hour and a half. But then you have Sebastian Stan overacting so hard as the Villain that looks like he’s gonna pull a muscle in his face chewing through this abjectly awful script. Delightful. 10/10 would recommend.
Highlights of this movie include:
- Magic is cool and fun and addicting and makes you age. It’s a metaphor. It’s meth.
- 1/3 of the runtime will be spent watching the movie trying to tell the difference between the interchangeable boyband witches 1/3 will be composing your own Rifftrax 1/3 will be checking your apartment for spiders.
- Two girls talking about one’s jealous asshole boyfriend, and instead of supporting her friend this bitch is going “oh you can’t break up with him you two are perfect together” and “it just means he cares” and “are you sure he’s not just picking up on the fact that your eye is wandering” and it’s most unrealistic thing I’ve ever seen, the writer has clearly never eavesdropped on girls talking because the accurate way for that conversation to have played out was “girl, dump him. throw away the whole man. yes, the whole man.”
- A scene leading up to the climactic final battle (LOL) where teenagers who literally just met and went on, like, one impromptu date are kissing while emotional music plays to convince us that what we’re actually seeing is two people deeply in love.
- Half the movie these four Witchy Bois are like, perplexed because someone is overusing magic and they just don’t know who it could be. Could it be the guy who is new in town and who is being really friendly and overly innocuous and is always hanging out with them trying to be buddy-buddy? Could it be him? We just don’t know. He’s overacting a lot but that can’t mean anything, can it?
-  "How about I make you my WI-ATCH!"
- General terrible mid-2000s “goth is cool” vibes like it’s trying to be Buffy and The Craft but For Bois.
- The fact that there’s no Rifftrax is a crime.

1. What is your favorite trope to rp? 4. What old character would you love to bring back? 13. Is there one trope you can’t stand? 22. Are there any red roleplay flags for you that make you back off immediately?
meme for roleplay muns:
1. What is your favorite trope to rp? idk man, i'm big on the redemption arcs and like charas growing in that way so really anything involving character development is something i fawn over like that's why enemies to lovers has such a big chunk of my heart lol also just the like kicked to shit human who ends up being more compassionate than should be humanly possible? like... good shit. idk, I think all the tropes I like involve that type of development as part of them so that's why I listed that on here :)
4. What old character would you love to bring back? Answered this but answering again bc I have so many I want to bring back lol. I want to bring Erebus back a good portion of that is bc of our things alone lmaooo but i mean he's also been on and off on my blog(s) for about five years now so i love him and he's an oc and all that so that makes him even more special to me.
13. Is there one trope you can’t stand? Uh not really? I mean there are certain things I will not play unless DISCUSSED IN EXTREME DETAIL with my writing partner(s) but I don't think there's anything I get annoyed when I look at or get asked about? Also I'm big on cliches being okay so like the chara redemption, the angry villain, the depressed teen, the promiscuous woman with daddy/parent issues... like LIFE IS REAL and stuff scars people so pretending that it doesn't because you're writing a character is DUMB in my opinion and you are not only limiting your muse but also limiting your own abilities as a writer. so i guess i'm more on the "i can't stand" the whole idea of an "overused trope" bc... well, we're here to write and have fun and people like that frustrate me bc judgy and yeah no thanks.
22. Are there any red roleplay flags for you that make you back off immediately? LOL see above. But also any form of guilt tripping and passive aggressive things. Like we're all going to have bad days but doing this whole "i'm offended by your character so you shouldn't write them" or "i thought you were a good person until..." or "i guess no one wants to write with me" or "oh... i see no one cares" shit.. like.. dude reach out if it's that deep to you; this is a two way street and emotional manipulation is never cool so fuck off. and also you're responsible for tailoring your dash; put your big boy/girl/human pants on and block, unfollow, log off, take a break, whatever you need to do to get through the day but don't go projecting your things to other people. I am truly sorry if this came off as inconsiderate but I mean most of my followers have been here for a while and they know i'm willing to talk ooc whether that's just to vent or to plot so like.. that's not it at all, just, don't try and manipulate people.. it's really that easy.

CHAPTER 2
YOUR POV
Dinner was… Eventful.
Ok, it was a mess.
For some reason, Brandon had thought barbequed pork ribs was a good idea, which lead to a kitchen covered in rib juice and barbeque sauce and nine boys covered in the same.
Jungkook had eventually come down after you had made some excuse about him feeling a little sick from the plane.
Brandon had given you a little look that said he knew you were lying, but when you gave him a subtle look of urgency right back, he decided to leave it be. Tae had also given you a funny look, and you didn’t miss when five minutes later he quietly slipped upstairs and came back twenty minutes after with the youngest in tow.
Jungkook had come downstairs looking like someone had sucked the life out of him, but he was pretending he had it together.
It made your heart beat funny in your chest, but you ignored it and instead wordlessly handed him a beer and went back to chopping vegetables.
The growing atmosphere seemed to pull him from whatever depression he had sunk into, at least for now, and after a few beers he was laughing and messing around in the pool with the rest of him.
As Brandon held court on the patio, standing over his grill-throne, you found yourself alone in the kitchen with Taehyung.
You set down the plate you were washing to watch him grab another beer from the refrigerator.
“What’s up with Jungkook?” you asked casually.
He froze, his hand hovering over the beer bottle, and turned to face you.
“Nothing,” he rasped.
“Bullshit, Tae. I don’t believe it.”
Taking the beer out and shutting the fridge, your friend leaned against the counter and studied his hands. “I told him he should tell you,” he muttered under his breath.
“Tell me what?” When Taehyung said nothing, you pressed on. “What’s the scar on his shoulder from? Tell me, Tae. Please. I’m worried.”
“He fell.”
You fought the urge to roll your eyes. “He said as much. But I’m asking how he fell.”
Taehyung took a long sip of his beer before resting his gaze on you. “I’m not supposed to say anything. He asked me not to.”
You sighed. You supposed it was good that he had such loyal friends around him. They’d make sure he didn’t do something… extreme. “Fine. But just-“
He cut you off. “However, he’s not listening to us. We just can’t seem to…”
It was then you saw the silver lining his eyes and the tense lines of his body as he held back sobs. You moved to stand next to him, taking his large hand in yours and squeezing it. “Tae, you don’t have to say anything…”
“No,” the older boy said, drying his eyes with his free hand. “No, I think you need to hear this because maybe you can help him. We can’t seem to get through to him, but given your history maybe you can…”
“You mean my depression,” you guessed. “He’s depressed,” you said, choking on the last word a bit.
Taehyung nodded slightly. “The scar on his shoulder… He tried to kill himself.”
Every cell in your body turned to ice. Suddenly you were looking at Taehyung, but you weren’t really seeing him. Instead, you were remembering every vile and intrusive thought that had ever crossed your mind and how much it had taken to overcome it. Hell, you were still overcoming it if the daily pills and the weekly visits to a therapist were any indication.
But you knew you could do it. You had come this far, and you had become stronger for it. But Jungkook… You thought back to the cheeky boy you had met for the first time two years ago, you thought of his smiles and his laughter and his carefree attitude. That boy… You weren’t sure that boy could go through what you had and come out still able to smile.
“The scar,” Tae continued, unaware of your internal strife, “was from Namjoon tackling him on the roof of the BigHit building where he tried to jump. He landed wrong and messed up his shoulder so bad it needed surgery… But I guess that’s better than being dead.”
You didn’t think Jungkook thought the same way.
“How long ago was this?” You asked, your throat tightening.
“Four months ago.”
You closed your eyes. In your head you were running through every conversation, every joke, every meme you had sent back and forth with him four months ago and asked yourself why, why didn’t I see it?
But you caught yourself, remembering that there’s no use in dwelling it the past. It solves nothing. Instead of worrying about how you could’ve stopped him then, you should be worrying about how to prevent the same thing from happening again in the future.
“Thank you for telling me,” you managed.
Tae nodded, still trying to master himself. “Just don’t… tell anyone, ok? And maybe don’t tell him I told you. I’m not supposed to say anything, but I think that maybe you could help him.”
You nodded. “I won’t say anything.”
“Y/N?”
You looked at your friend, meeting his brown eyes filled with concern and… fear.
“Please,” Taehyung breathed, “Help him.”
You only nodded, not trusting yourself to speak without breaking into tears.
You didn’t bother to tell Taehyung that only Jungkook could help himself, that depression wasn’t like having the flu and you couldn’t just prescribe some pills and have it disappear, or that it was nothing like the romanticized version society projected and no amount of overused Pinterest quotes or a few “I love you’s” could make a person feel like life is actually worth living.
The best you had to offer was your story, but honestly that was even more depressing. And then there was the fact that you were still healing yourself, and so no, you didn’t have all the answers, you just had the answers to your own experiences which wouldn’t necessarily align with his.
Because truth be told you were still walking out of the darkest part of your life, and you realized that you might do more harm than good to both yourself and him.
But he was your friend, and he was hurting. So maybe you would try talking to him, if it seemed like he wanted to talk.
He knew about your history, and he knew he could come to you, so you wouldn’t push him to say more than what he was comfortable with.
You were shaken from your absolutely delightful thoughts as Jimin stuck his blonde head into the kitchen to tell you dinner was ready.
You thanked him and took a moment to master yourself, burying this part of you under layers of the personality you’d carefully constructed over the years, and when you went out to the patio you pretended everything was fine.
***************************************************************************************
After dinner that night, everyone was in the pool, either lounging or messing around in the water as the sun set over the ocean and stars began to make their appearance on an inky black stage.
You sat on the steps with Jin, a strawberry daiquiri in hand, discussing different cooking recipes, while the others sat around on the sides or swam in the pool.
“I wanted to say,” Jin said, placing a gentle hand on your knee, “that I’m sorry to hear about you and Shawn.”
Your stomach dropped. This had been the very last topic of conversation you wanted to discuss, but you had known it probably would come up that your ex-boyfriend had very publicly cheated on you with the girl he told you not to worry about and embarrassed you in front of the entire world and broken your heart and your spirit.
“Don’t be,” you said, steeling away your heart and the way it still sometimes ached for that lying, cheating bastard. “It’s for the best. He clearly never gave a shit about me.”
“How have you been dealing with it?” he asked, his eyes full of pity.
You shrugged and looked away, unable to shoulder the pity in his gaze. “Various ways. I watched some stupid teen romance movies and smashed some glass up in the mountains. Then I did a shit ton of drugs and blacked out for about two weeks. Then I just… carried on.”
Jin looked like he couldn’t decide whether to laugh or yell. “Well that’s, uh, one way to get over someone.”
You shrugged again, playing with the warm pool water and tried to ignore the sinkhole I your chest that always opened up whenever you thought about Shawn. “I wasted enough time on him. He played me, I was sad for a bit, and now he doesn’t get the luxury of my time or peace of mind.”
Thankfully, at that exact moment, Brandon clapped his hands in the middle of the pool to get everyone’s attention.
“Ok, kids,” he announced, “let’s play a game.”
“What are we, pre-teens at a slumber party?” you demanded.
“Says the youngest here,” Branded retorted.
“Carry on,” you conceded with a sip of your drink.
“That’s what I thought,” he said as you narrowed your eyes at him. “Let’s play truth or dare.”
You gave him a pained look, the words fighting their way up your throat to tell him exactly what you thought of this cliché.
“So, Y/N,” Brandon said. He chose you to go first. Shocker. “Truth or dare?”
You thought for a moment, considering Brandon’s reputation of giving the absolute most horrific and humiliating dares. “Truth.”
“Tell us about the time you lost your virginity.”
You ignored the uncomfortable looks from the guys around you and the way they suddenly found everything but you incredibly interesting.
“Wow, first question and you already brought up sex? Way to ease into it,” you chuckled.
“Subtlety isn’t my style,” Brandon said with a sly grin. “Besides, aren’t you the one always saying, ‘Go big or go home’?”
“Fair enough,” you told him before taking a long drink of your cocktail. “Freshman year of college. I was at a frat party, got drunk, and thought, ‘fuck it, life’s too short. Chad was hot—or was it Brad? I honestly can’t remember. Same difference. After literally thirty seconds of making out he told me he wanted to fuck me, so I said whatever and lost my virginity in some senior frat house in a room that spelled like vomit and weed and I’m pretty sure did not belong to Brad or Chad or whoever he was. He lasted about forty-five seconds and I never saw him again.”
You sipped your drink, ignoring the shocked look on everyone’s’ face—everyone that is, except Brandon, who grinned at you with wicked delight. “Our little slut,” he said in an endearing tone.
“Hey,” you scoffed, leveling him with a glare, “at least I didn’t get syphilis the first time I had sex.”
Brandon let out a mock gasp and splashed you. “Hey that wasn’t my fault! I was fifteen and the girl told me I couldn’t get an STD my first time!
“Why? Because you couldn’t last long enough?” you shot back.
“Do you want to fight?” he demanded, making his way over to where you sat on the steps.
“Bring it on,” you said with a wry grin, setting your drink down. “I can take you any time, any place. Oh, but hold on, let me grab some protection first, I don’t want to catch your syphilis.”
“It was chlamydia,” Brandon snarled playfully, his large hands grabbing your thighs and pulling you towards him until you were close enough to wrap your legs around his torso, “and its gone now,” he said, his face so close to yours that your noses were practically touching.
You tilted your head a little so your mouth would graze his if either of you so much as shifted and said, “whatever you say, Itchy.”
At that, Brandon flung himself backwards into the water, taking you with him.
***************************************************************************************
JUNGKOOK’S POV
It was actually much more difficult to watch you and Brandon interact than he remembered. Your relationship had always looked like this: lots of touching and grabbing, inappropriate comments, sly looks… So Jungkook wasn’t sure why it bothered him so much tonight.
Maybe it was your skimpy little bikini—the way it did absolutely nothing to hide, well, any of your ass. Or the way it displayed your more than generous breasts. Or those curves. Those curves were positively sinful. Jungkook often dreamed about those curves when he was alone, imagining the way they would feel under his hands, how it would feel to have you completely at the mercy of his touch. What it would feel like to trace every perfect line of your body, just the two of you, and to have you want it—want him—and beg for more.
Suddenly, he was very, very glad he was submerged in the pool up to his hips, because if anyone saw the growing problem in his swim trunks he just might keel over dead on the spot.
“Jungkook.” Shit. You were looking at him, still tucked under Brandon’s incredible, stupidly muscled biceps—not that he cared or anything. “Truth or dare.”
“Um… truth?”
“Shit,” you said under your breath, “I wasn’t prepared for that one. Okay, um, I’ll be basic because I’m a little tipsy right now and therefore unoriginal, so I’ll go with: tell us about your first kiss.”
Jungkook immediately felt his face flame up as he dipped his head, the water suddenly more interesting than the model staring at him from across the pool.
“I’ve, uh, never been, um, kissed before,” he said, unable to meet your eyes.
“Wait really?” you asked incredulously.
He could only nod through the humiliation.
“That’s ok,” Brandon said from beside you, “You’re like 23, there’s really no rush. You’re a busy dude. No one expects you to have the time to go out and kiss girls.”
The others murmured their agreement. Jungkook could feel Taehyung’s gaze burning a hole through the side of his head, and even though he couldn’t see the older boy, Jungkook could practically envision the look of pity all over his face so he chose not to look. Even Brandon, despite his empathetic words, still gave him a quick look laced with pity.
It was only you that didn’t act like there was something fundamentally wrong with him for never having kissed anyone. You simply readjusted yourself in Brandon’s arms until he was carrying you bridal style so you could dip your head back to look at the stars, and said, “Damn, now I gotta think of something else.”
“We don’t have all night you drunk bitch,” Brandon said, swinging you around in a circle and making you giggle. “Jk, just ask someone else.”
And so the game continued on, but Jungkook wasn’t paying attention. He only watched the girl he loved lounge in another man’s arms and wondered what it would be like to be him.
***************************************************************************************
Jungkook spent the rest of the night hyperaware of where you existed around him, always looking for a way to talk to you or just be near you.
It frustrated him that he was like this; cripplingly insecure and desperate.
The past year and half your friendship had blossomed so easily over text, where he had the time to carefully construct a witty and suave response to whatever you had to say, but here, in real time, in your goddamn house, he was powerless to conceal how pathetic he was for you.
Because he was. Jungkook had loved you before he even met you—he had idolized you when you were a professional dancer in your teens, and then loved you even more when you became an actress and celebrity and you let the entire world see exactly how incredible you are.
And when he heard you were coming to Korea on a press tour for your new movie and he might even get to meet you he had nearly vomited from excitement and screamed into a pillow for three minutes straight.
But meeting you in his head was wildly different than meeting you in person. He thought he would be cool, albeit a bit awkward, but you would find it cute and charming. He would ask you out on a simple coffee date, to which you would reply yes, and you would have such a good time you wouldn’t leave his side. You would go for drinks at one of his favorite hidden bars in Seoul and he could show you his city. Then the two of you would go back to your hotel room to watch a movie, but he would accidently fall asleep and wake up with you in his arms.
Needless to say, it did not go that way.
He would never forget the first time he saw you in person: It was three years ago in Seoul during IdolFest, a huge gathering of idols to do interviews, challenges, variety shows, and interact with one another for the fans, and since your press tour would have you in Korea at the same time, they invited you and your co-stars to come, and you had said yes.
On the first day of the event, BTS had been one of the first groups to arrive and had to wait inside the studio until a PA—who was running late—could come open the dressing rooms.
Your co-stars had arrived first without you, them and their crew being ushered off into a corner by anxious looking interns. Jungkook observed with more than a little glee that the group was close enough to him that maybe he could make casual eye contact with you and introduce himself in a really cool and natural way. Or something suave like that.
It was a big deal that you guys were here, and everyone knew it. Your movies had been global blockbusters, breaking records after records with each opening weekend. As they walked across the room Jungkook could hear the whispers following them as idols eyed the American celebrities with varying reactions.
But all he could focus on was the fact that you weren’t there. Were you not coming? Were you running late?
He sent up a silent prayer to whatever god was listening that you would show; he wanted to meet you so badly—not that he thought he actually had the courage to introduce himself.
Jungkook was standing with Yugyeom talking about video games, when they heard the fans outside screaming the loudest they had all day.
“Who do you think it is?” Yugyeom asked, eyeing the door.
Jungkook shrugged. “Probably Big Bang or SHINee or some other big boy group.”
Suddenly, the doors of the studio burst open, the screams of the fans near deafening now, and every cell in Jungkook’s body went on red alert as you hurdled through the open doors on a longboard. Security had literally pushed you though the door as the chaos outside amplified.
The first thing Jungkook noticed was that you’re even more beautiful in person. You had your hair down, curls falling in waves down to your waist, the ends tinged lighter by the sun. Big designer sunglasses hid your eyes, but not the angular jaunt of your cheekbones or full mouth. You looked comfortable in oversized grey sweatpants and a black crop top that revealed impressive abs. A backpack was slung across your shoulders and Jungkook marveled that you could balance so well on your board with it on.
Everyone in the studio fell silent as you zoomed in, and if you noticed—which, having known you for two years now, Jungkook had no doubt you did—you didn’t react. You simply skateboarded over to where your costars stood, steering in and out of people like a professional with your hands in your pockets, expression bored.
In that moment, Jungkook had never loved anyone more.
Brandon’s voice echoed throughout the concrete studio, “You’re such a fucking drama queen Y/N.”
You slowed yourself down to a stop in front of him, kicking the board up into your hands with ease, the carefree sound of your laugh floating through the room.
“Yes, and?” you replied, turning to the man who Jungkook assumed was your assistant by the way he ran up to you, handed you a coffee, and took your skateboard.
“How was your final?” Caleb asked, taking a sip of his own coffee.
You groaned. “I don’t want to talk about it.”
“That bad?” Brandon asked, raising his eyebrows.
“Look, it happened. That’s all I’m going to say about it,” you said, chugging your coffee.
By then, conversation had picked back up and Jungkook was unable to hear the rest of what you were saying, but that didn’t stop him from looking over at you a bit too frequently and trying to think up a way to introduce himself.
He said goodbye to Yugyeom as the PA’s began letting people into their dressing rooms, and for a split second Jungkook truly believed in god when he realized that BTS’s dressing room was right next to yours.
And when Taehyung asked Namjoon to help him say hello to you, Jungkook almost exploded on the spot and had nothing short of begged to join them.
In the end, all seven boys had wanted to go, and so together they shuffled down the hall to the next door and knocked.
An assistant answered the door, and with wide eyes, turned around and said “BTS is here.”
“Let them in,” Brandon said, becoming visible as he stepped forward.
Jungkook was instantly jealous the first time he met Brandon.
To be fair, the first time he met Brandon, the other boy had been shirtless, wearing nothing but a pair of black sweatpants, showing off his more than impressive physique. Jungkook would kill to have the kind of muscle definition and proportions that Brandon did, not to mention the height, the pretty face, and the confidence of having all of that and knowing it.
And then you stood up from your makeup chair and Jungkook instantly forgot about Brandon.
You were in a sports bra and tiny spandex shorts, your hair up in a bun and your knuckles taped as if for boxing. Jungkook was aware that he was ogling you, but damn you were the hottest thing he had ever seen.
“Hi,” you said in perfect Korean. “I’m Y/N. It’s so nice to meet you.” You smiled, and his eyes had caught yours for a split second and his heart had stopped beating.
“I’m RM,” Namjoon said stepping forward and shaking your hand. Jungkook tried not to feel too jealous—and failed. “Your Korean is very good.”
“Thank you,” you replied, blushing slightly. “I spent a year studying Taekwondo in Seoul a few years ago and picked up a few things,” you laughed.
“More than a few it looks like,” Namjoon observed, earning another laugh from you.
The meeting was short, as both groups were busy getting ready, and Jungkook found himself having said a single word to you: his goddamn name.
He wanted to be better than this. He wanted to be funny and interesting, but still a little mysterious and deep; he wanted to wow you with his cool words and maybe even get your number, but as he turned to leave with the rest of his group he realized how foolish he had been.
Why would you ever take notice of someone like him? Someone who couldn’t even speak to you, much less sweep you off your feet?
All he could think about as he walked away, and every day for the next three years, was how beautiful you had looked that day when you smiled at him.
YOUR POV
*********************************************************************************
The rest of the night was rather tame, the ten of you catching up over some alcohol and s’mores under a blanket of stars and swaying palm trees.
The alcohol plus the warm California breeze was all it took to lull you into a partial coma, your body suddenly deciding that you were very tired, and that Caleb made a wonderful pillow. Caleb, none too happy with his newly appointed status as a body pillow, dutifully carried you upstairs and helped you into bed.
As you nestled into your blankets you let your thoughts wander to Jungkook and wondered whether or not he’d actually share a bed with you tonight or if he would wait until everyone fell asleep and then crash on the couch.
It was strange how you couldn’t decide which option you wanted more.
On one hand, you liked Jungkook a lot. You would love nothing more than to share a bed and stay up late talking about everything and nothing in the safety of his arms. But you knew that was impractical. Even so, you realized you just craved being near him; you always felt good around him, like things were a little better. Like the dark cloud that always seemed to hang around you was a little less dark when he was there. He was a reminder that there were still things in this world worth fighting for, and one of them was right in front of you.
On the other hand, you weren’t sure you could handle being that close to him and not getting the physical attention you craved. It would be so incredibly hard to share a goddamn bed with him and not go any further than sleeping. You would get to be near him, but it could never go any further than that, and you weren’t sure you were capable of that right now.
As you drifted off to sleep you realized there was never any doubt: you wanted him here. And maybe that was more of a nightmare than a dream.
Right in the middle of a particularly interesting dream about Jungkook, you awoke to the feeling of the mattress shifting on the other side of the bed. You didn’t say anything as you cracked an eye to watch Jungkook get comfortable as far away from you as he could get without falling off the edge of the mattress.
You couldn’t help the satisfaction that bloomed in your chest, and the feeling of security knowing he was safely next to you, asleep and alive. Fighting the urge to reach out and touch him, you turned over and went back to sleep, but this time no dreams came.

Bestfriend!Kaminari x Reader
How I imagine him as a best friend headcanon [probably more like narration in bullet form] with one of the most popular boys among my friends, Kaminari Denki!
Due to Kaminari’s approachable nature, it wasn’t hard to be friends with him at all
Y/N and Denki met during Middle School due to unexpected circumstances
unexpected meaning they met because of detention/disciplinary actions
As a prank, Denki’s friends took advantage of his “yey” mode (when he overuses his quirk). They pressed the fire alarm alarming the whole school and leaving Kaminari on the scene of the crime
Fortunately it was already late in the afternoon and most of the students are already at home, but the faculty members were still there and they were the ones who panicked and of course got pissed the moment they learned it was a false alarm
Adding to their headache was rebel Y/N who has been caught vandalizing the walls for the nth time.
They were both brought to the prefect and was sentenced ONE WEEK OF COMMUNITY SERVICE (aka cleaning the whole school)
During the week of cleaning y/n wasn’t really planning on talking to Kaminari but the boy is just so friendly and at the same time very hard to ignore
He was like “So... do you know Pikachu?” to which y/n just rolled their eyes to
But he didn’t quit “How about Thor? The God of Thunder? From Avengers?”
and that earned an eye roll from y/n too
But he suddenly sounded serious and said “I don’t even know why I’m supposed to be cleaning these. What did I do?”
Y/N felt his words and so they answered him bluntly.
“Your friends are douches. You should ditch them.”
“Why?”
“Based on the state I saw you in that day, I don’t think you pressed that fire alarm. Based on your state that day, I don’t think you’ll even know what a button is” Y/N said laughing
“Hey!” Kaminari was about to defend himself when Y/N spoke again
“Seriously, stay away from your friends. They aren’t any good.”
“How can you say that?! You don’t know them”
“Oh I do. They were my friends too” and that shocked Denki
Y/N then narrated the bad things that those friends tried to make Y/N do and to Kaminari it made sense that they were douches and decided that it was probably best to stay away from them. Especially that he aims to be in UA’s Hero Course
Tumblr media
He smiled and said, “Thank you for telling me this. From now on, you’ll be my friend. My best friend!”
and so that’s how their friendship started. As they hung out that week, they learned a lot about how much they were similar and how their preferences were alike.
They have the same pro-hero idols and same music taste
They also started planning for their future (heh cute) like how Denki will try his best to go to U.A. while Y/N will go to a nearby high school but both will take up hero course so in the future they can be sidekicks under their favorite pro-hero’s agency
Tumblr media
Kaminari as a best friend includes a lot of meme sharing and texting
Oftentimes he’d even send selfies of him imitating a meme that you like
What Y/N would probably like most about him is his attention to details.
IF HE WAS ABLE TO REMEMBER BAKUGO SAYING HE TOOK MUSIC CLASSES AS A KID, HE REMEMBERS Y/N FAVORITE LINE OF THEIR FAVORITE BOOK IS
So even though Y/N and Denki sees each other not that often due to both being busy with high school, He would never foget the special occasions such as Y/N’s birthday, Y/N’s mom’s birthday, and the annual friendship day celebration that they came up with (it’s just an excuse to goof around as much as they want for 24 hours)
Bestfriend!Kaminari makes everything  less boring and that’s one of the best things about him :)

Okay idk if there's a certain number of items you're supposed to pick for these memes but I have a lot of them. 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14, 20, 29, 38!
I don’t think it matters how many you pick so long as it’s not all of them, lol.
1. Describe your comfort zone—a typical you-fic.
Anything with an element of fish-out-of-water. I love fish-out-of-water as a trope: characters learning about new situations, about each other, and coming to new understanding. The potential for it is why the Venom fandom got me writing again after 7 years, and almost all of my fics have some degree of it. It’s incredibly fun for me to write and to read, and I’ve yet to get tired of it.
2. Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?
There’s two: wingfic and bodyswap/roleswap. I’ve tried and gotten nowhere with a couple ideas in the Venom fandom, so I’m open to prompts or discussion!
5. Share one of your strengths.
Lately I’ve been really proud of my dialogue! I’m always very happy with the way it turns out.
7. Share a snippet from one of your favorite pieces of prose you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
From You In Me In You:
Instead they move in concert through the steps of Eddie's morning. They take a warm, languid shower washing the sleep away and marvelling at the feeling of hot water sluicing over their body. After, Venom sheets the water from their skin and Eddie dresses them in his softest clothes. Their breakfast is bacon and way too many eggs. It eats some of their food raw and Eddie doesn’t do anything but smile and fill their blood with tasty neurotransmitters.
They spend the rest of their morning wandering by the piers, people watching. It’s a weekday and the crowds are as thin as they ever will be in a port city as large as San Francisco. Sunlight glimmers on the surface of the bay and the two of them spend hours wrapped in each other surrounded in turn by constant murmur of humanity.
It brings a new appreciation to both of them. These are the people he would have died for, and this is the world it had glimpsed from the top of the network building. The air isn’t quite as bogged down with exhaust as it is deeper in the city and it tastes good in their lungs as they inhale. They exhale heavily, satisfied.
This is from the last section of the fic. Eddie’s just woken up to Venom surviving the rocket explosion, perfectly aware that they’re there and that they’re aware of him. I wanted it to read like rolling over, finding your significant other still in bed, and realizing that neither of you have anything pressing to do. Peaceful and comfortable. By the end they both see the results of their efforts and know it was worth it. It came out exactly how I wanted it to.
8. Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
From Sight Seeing:
“Hah, the great investigative reporter, Eddie Brock, at a loss for words.” Venom laughed aloud as they clambered out of the shadow of the building and onto the roof.
Shut up, asshole, Eddie grumbled. Before he could say anything else he noticed that there was a new sensation tickling across their surface as they stood on the quiet roof. Why is our skin tingling?
“We are in the open, in the light.” Venom casually turned to face the half-moon completely, and a wave of prickling sensation rolled over their face and chest as they moved. It felt to Eddie like the moment before something happened. Like the building tension of a suspense movie but without the release of a reveal or a jump scare.
But I’m not anxious about it; you’re not tense; we don’t feel exposed. He couldn’t think of any other reason they would feel so strangely. Why is our skin crawling?
“Crossed inputs,” Venom explained after a moment of thought. “I am not used to seeing light, and you are not used to feeling it.”
Feeling it? They felt light?
“I do not have eyes, Eddie,” Venom clarified, “but we do. Alone I cannot detect anything beyond the presence and intensity of light. What you feel is your brain’s interpretation of my sense of light.”
The whole point of this fic was to compare and contrast Eddie and Venom’s senses and this is the first bit in the fic where the differences come up. Eddie starts to realize just how alien Venom’s senses are and Venom realizes that they should explain and maybe even adjust how they interpret things. I’m proud of how well I explained the differences in their interpretation of light while keeping the banter interesting.
9. Which fic has been the hardest to write?
Good Things Ahead was definitely the one I had the most difficulty with. I had to get out of my comfort zone with multiple aspects of it because it was an exchange fic, and I had to do that on a time limit. I wasn’t very happy with it while I was writing it, but I’m pleased now with how it turned out.
10. Which fic has been the easiest to write?
Probably Runalong, probably because it was so very self indulgent. I remember being able to write it all in several sessions, picking it up and continuing it easily. It was a great flow.
14. What’s the worst writing advice you’ve ever come across?
Any advice that flat out tells you not to use certain words is bad advice. Also that post that went around telling writers to use words that had wildly varying connotations instead of certain ”overused” words.
20. Describe your perfect writing conditions.
Cool enough that I can comfortably wear a light jacket/sweater, either ambient noise if I’m outside or familiar music that I can tune it out if I’m inside, and snacks!
29. If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?
Assuming that I’d have permission, manage a similar style, and also manage to finish: I’d do the next fic in Vathara’s Blades of Blood series. There’s multiple plot threads I’d love to see continued and it’s ripe for more character interaction. Both of the written fics are exactly my kind of shit, and I would love more.
38. Talk about a review that made your day.
A comment on You In Me In You left by @shards-of-divinity
I love all of your Venom stories. You have a unique way of writing them that's immediately recognizable as you and pleasant to read. ❤
I compare my writing/stats to other authors a lot. It’s something that I’ve been trying not to do and I’ve gotten better at not doing it lately. It means so much to me for someone to specifically say that my writing style is recognizable and pleasant to read, and it makes me feel seen as an author.

Is It Really THAT Bad?
Tumblr media
Dr. Seuss is no stranger to cinematic adaptations, and even less of a stranger to animation. And whenever Seuss gets animated, you can typically expect good things, as opposed to when his work is live action, in which case you can expect…
Tumblr media
Yeah…
Anyway, imagine the excitement people must have felt when the creative team behind Despicable Me and the writing team behind the underrated gem Horton Hears a Who got together to do a fresh new take on The Lorax! This was in Illumination’s heyday, before they ended up showcasing that they’re more interested in churning out cheap products for maximum profit, so there was plenty of hope that this could be good. Then came all the commercial tie-ins.
youtube
Now, this alone shouldn’t be indicative of the final product. Maybe stuff like this is just a bunch of suits horribly missing the point of the original story! Maybe the actual film will be better! Well… while the film was no flop, and while it certainly got a better reception than most of the films I’ve talked about here, the film was derided by many for being an extremely shallow and lacking adaptation that adds unneeded junk to a story that didn’t need it in such a way that ultimately dilutes the message. It turns a story that operated on shades of gray and turned it into a cartoonish spectacle that would make even Captain Planet blush. Not helping was the rabid fanbase on Tumblr who shipped the Once-ler with… himself… or Jack Frost… forever tainting the film in the eyes of those on the internet.
Tumblr media
Things got so bad eventually even the [REDACTED] Critic reviewed the film in his usual over-the-top, accentuate the negative style, and as some people still treat his word as gospel, this has most likely colored the perception of the film. So while it’s certainly not to the same level of infamy as the usual subjects of Is It Really THAT Bad? I still wanted to put this movie on here and ask one simple question:
How ba-ah-ah-ad can it be?
Tumblr media
THE GOOD
So let me just get it out of the way: the movie’s villain song, “How Bad Can I Be,” legitimately is awesome and is frankly one of the best villain songs ever. No, I’m not kidding. It’s just a fun, rocking number with some neat visuals, and while it’s a shame the cut rock opera-esque “Biggering” is probably the better song, this one is definitely more fun and meme-worthy. Shake that bottom line!
youtube
Now, the casting is, for the most part, pretty fantastic. Minor characters like the grandma played by Betty White are a lot of fun, but really, the main piece of awesome casting is Danny DeVito as the titular Seuss creation. DeVito as the Lorax is just so incredible, perfect, and inspired that it boggles the mind how anyone could possibly come up with such amazing casting.
As far as antagonizing forces in the film go, the Once-ler’s awful, vile family are enjoyable in a “love to hate” sort of way. While it’s certainly kind of iffy that they felt the need to give the Once-ler more of an excuse for his actions beyond just simple greed, it isn’t so bad that what they came up with was familial pressure. In fact, they’re actually much better at antagonists than O’Hare, the actual villain of the film, and the fact the movie give him so much focus despite having such fascinating characters that would have had a really great thematic purpose; hell, they should have been the rulers of Thneedville instead og O’Hare! There’s so much untapped potential with these, quite frankly, very interesting characters.
Tumblr media
I guess I should say the Once-ler is a pretty decent character in and of himself, but he very much suffers from the same problem the Jim Carrey Grinch does – he’s a good, enjoyable character in his own right, but he’s not a very good Once-ler. In fact, he at points borders on “in name only” territory. Still, he does have a pretty solid arc, and that villain song slaps, so… I think he’s solid, and Ed Helms does a good job voicing him.
THE BAD
Jon Lajoie, while in character as his misogynistic moron rapper MC Vagina, said this:
Tumblr media
When I first heard this lyric, I didn’t understand it… but his words were a prophecy, because that is, in all honesty, the plot of this film. Our flavorless protagonist Ted really just wants to get the Truffula trees back so he can get into the pants of the local smoking hot redhead hippie, Audrey. It gets to the point where Ted’s motivations are so boring and shallow that Audrey actually would have made a far more interesting and compelling protagonist, seeing as she already has an inexplicable knowledge of the trees and cares about nature. When they already changed so much in the story I don’t see why they couldn’t just make the protagonist a girl while they were at it. As it is, she barely has any presence and feels like a waste, which becomes all the more awful when you know she’s being played by a stunt casted Taylor Swift instead of an actual voice actor or even an actor period. At least Ted is Zac Efron, an actual actor, though he doesn’t do a particularly good job himself.
Then we have our villain, O’Hare. O’Hare has all the subtlety of a Captain Planet villain but none of the cheesy goodness and fun. Sure, Rob Riggle does some good delivery and gives O’Hare some memetastic moments, and sure, his selling of canned air is oddly prescient of things that happened in real life in India (though technically President Skroob Spaceballs beat him to the punch by a few decades) but it doesn’t really redeem O’Hare from being an excessively weak villain who is shoehorned into the plot solely to turn the story into a black and white morality tale. It… doesn’t work at all. What also doesn’t help is that O’Hare has an absolutely repugnant character design, looking like if Edna Mode got mangled by a sixteen wheeler and left in a ditch on the side of the road.
Tumblr media
Finally, this movie just doesn’t really respect the story to any great degree. As mentioned above, it waters down a story that presented arguments from both sides and, while still ultimately showing the Once-ler to be wrong and shortsighted, did have him make some valid points. Here, the story is presented as there being a clear cut good and evil in a horrendously unsubtle and unpalatable way. Yes, we get that extreme deforestation and overuse of resources is bad, you don’t need to beat us over the head with it. It doesn’t help that the film also crams in a bunch of cringeworthy pop culture humor that really doesn’t add much to the story; say what you will about the anime scene from Horton, at least there was a bit of substance and reason for it. Having characters sing the Mission: Impossible theme is just making a reference for the sake of making a reference.
Is It Really THAT Bad?
So I’m gonna say that I don’t particularly find this movie to be good, per se. It’s very dumbed down and more than a little undermined by the various brand tie ins. It is a poorly executed black and white morality tale that was crafted from a very deep and engaging piece of children’s literature, and on that level, I don’t think this movie works even a little bit. Still, there’s some enjoyment that can be mined from this, particularly from some of the more so bad it’s good moments, as well as DeVito’s performance and some actual good moments of story and character. There’s some stuff to like here if you dig a bit, but really, I don’t think you really should have to do a deep dig into The Lorax to get some enjoyment.
Overall, I wouldn’t really say this movie is totally bad, but it’s definitely not good, either; it veers more into the territory of “so bad it’s good,” which is a shame but also kind of refreshing. It’s definitely an interesting film to talk about, and there are a few things about it that work, but ultimately it’s not enough to really raise the film to the level of the classic animated Seuss adaptations or even to the level of Horton. At its best, it’s okay, and at its worst, it actively undermines its own messages. I think the 6.4 it has is pretty fair… maybe a bit too fair, if I’m being honest. I’d give it something like a 5.7 or 5.8.
Again, it’s not the worst thing ever like some might tell you; hell, the adaptation of How the Grinch Stole Christmas Illumination would go on to make is probably a worse movie. But it still doesn’t really do anything that adds to the story its telling, and it ultimately comes off as saccharine, forgettable childish fluff. It’s really a harmless movie, but it’s still probably gonna grate on anyone who holds the original story in high esteem. The {REDACTED] Critic was a bit hyperbolic in his review, but I do think he was right in principle. This movie feels like a calculated, corporate adaptation meant to be as inoffensive and marketable as possible much like every Illumination film post-Despicable Me. And if there’s one thing The Lorax shouldn’t be, it’s “inoffensive and marketable.”

You’re Dumb (Kaminari x Reader)
Warnings: None
Tumblr media
Denki Kaminari. The man, the myth, the legend. He had the sort of crackhead energy that was purely his- no drugs involved. He might’ve been struck dumb when he overused his quirk, but you were quite positive he was verging on dumber when he was just being himself.
The amount of Vine and overall meme references that came out of this kid were unreal. If memorizing memes was a degree category, Kaminari would have had a doctorate. However, seeing as he was your best friend, you were pretty well rounded in meme culture yourself.
The idea came to you when you were lounging with the majority of Class 1A in the common area. You were showing off to Kirishima, Mina, and a reluctant Bakugou with how well you could control your water quirk. With a flick of your hand, a stream of water morphed into a loosely formed figure. It began to spin and dance around over your palm, and Mina clapped her hands in glee.
“Oh, this is so cool!! How do you do that?”
You just shrugged, “It’s taken a lot of practice, to be honest. It normally depends on how my emotions are. That’s why I can create such large tidal waves when I’m angry, and such detailed works when I’m calm.”
Bakugou let out an annoyed sound, “Oh, it’s not that cool. How is some stupid water trick going to help you in battle?”
You brushed his snide question aside as you concentrated on your water figure. You barely even noticed that a certain electric boy had entered the room until you heard the squeal of a speaker and the beginning of a familiar theme song. It sounded like Monster’s Inc...
It dawned on you at the last second. You barely had time to gasp and smack your hands over your ears before the theme song took on a blaring quality. Most students started yelling, but their voices were drowned out by the loud noise. Finally, someone unplugged the speaker and you were able to relax...just to realize that your beautiful figure had turned into a puddle.
You huffed in annoyance as Kaminari stumbled over, laughing so hard that his face had turned red.
“How...how was that for an entrance, huh?”
He let out another bark of laughter, and you reacted on instinct. The water from the puddle gathered in the air and flicked towards Kaminari’s face. He seemed a bit taken aback by the short spray of water, and that’s when your genius idea took root.
The next day, you were all packing up since the first class of the day had just finished. Kaminari ambled over to your desk, and the two of you were normally chatting until one fateful student began talking about how one of the roads was closed because of a villain attack.
“Yeah, that’s the street my favorite restaurant is on,” Sero sighed. “It’s too bad that there’s so much road work...”
That was all that needed to be said. You saw the light brighten in Kaminari’s eyes as he took a deep breath and yelled,
“ROAD WORK AHEAD? UH, YEAH! I SURE HOPE IT DO-“
On instinct, you reached into your bag, grabbed the object that you had acquired the night before, and brandished it. Before Kaminari had finished speaking, you spritzed him in the face with a fine water mist from your miniature spray bottle. Like before, he was taken aback for a few seconds.
Laughter rang throughout the room as Kirishima gasped, “Oh my god!! (L/N), you stopped him right in his tracks! Why did that work- oh my god.” He nearly fell out of his desk as more laughter overtook him. Kaminari was staring at you in confusion.
“(L/N), what was that for? Why’d you do that?”
“I’ve decided to try a new form of control for all these references you make,” you stated as you threateningly waved the bottle around. “I’ll let a few of them slide, but the more you make, the more you get sprayed. This is an intervention.”
He gave you a sad puppy look that nearly had you melting. “No! But...but my references are great! I don’t like the water sprayer!”
“Then you’ll have to be more careful with what you say!! Stay alert- because I’ll always be watching. Every meme you bring up, every Vine you quote, you better beware. My name is (Y/N) (L/N). You make too many references. Prepare to die.”
You threw the bottle back into your bag and started to walk out of the room as Kaminari wailed behind you, “BUT YOU JUST MADE A MOVIE REFERENCE! THIS ISN’T FAIR!!”
Sure enough, you stayed on your toes the entire day. Whenever you were around Kaminari, he seemed extra cautious about what he said. Even so, you had to use your water sprayer a lot more than you thought. As you expected, Kaminari started to get annoyed with the whole situation.
Of course, he looked adorable when he was annoyed. Your plan was to help limit his references, but your hidden plan was to get more of his attention. You had a slight crush on the Pikachu boy, and it was pretty obvious. You know...to everyone EXCEPT him.
Finally, when you were walking to your last class with him, it happened. You were pretty surprised that he wasn’t actively trying to avoid you and your sneak attacks. Midoriya was walking near you, and you heard a snippet of his conversation.
“All Might’s power is unparalleled. I don’t think anyone can defeat him when he can go over 100% with his super strength-“
The poor electric boy looked like he was trying so hard not to say it. He was having an inner war with himself and his crackhead energy. He stayed quiet for about two seconds before he blurted, “Shaggy could defeat him with .2% of his power.”
ffttzzzz
Your best friend still blinked in surprised at the spray of water, even though it had happened about 108 times that day. His gaze shifted to you, and suddenly he was grabbing your arm and dragging you into an empty hall. Your smirk was hard to hide; he had finally snapped.
When there was no one else around, he let go of you and pushed you towards the lockers. He frowned at you with his arms crossed over his chest- but his expression reminded you of a grumpy toddler. You tried to move out of the way, but he slammed his hand into the locker beside you to keep you in place.
“Give. Me. The. Water. Spritzer.”
You feigned innocence. “What water spritzer? I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Kaminari’s bright eyes seemed to crackle with electricity as he confessed, “I can’t do this anymore, (L/N)! At first I thought it was for fun, but I can’t filter my comments! The meme lord in me has to be let loose!”
“I was just trying to help you!”
He huffed and poked his bottom lip out in a pout. “You’re dumb.”
“And you’re cute when you’re grumpy.”
“I’M NOT GRU- wait. Did you say I was cute?”
Your eyes widened in realization for what you’d blurted out. Instead of a witty response, your mind buffered. “Uhhhh...”
Kaminari’s expression morphed from annoyance to smugness. “Ohhh... the cat’s out of the bag, huh? Do you...I don’t know... LIKE ME?!”
You halfheartedly brought up the water sprayer, as if it would defend you from confessing your feelings. “I- um... well, I- Uhh...”
“YOU DO, DON’T YOU?! I’ve never heard you this speechless before!! Haha!”
He snatched the water sprayer out of your hand and suddenly you were the one blinking against the spray of cool mist. You didn’t know what to feel. He seemed happy to have figured it out...but did he like you back? Would he throw this in your face later or make fun of you for it?
Your face must’ve reflected what you were thinking, because Kaminari stopped attacking you with the spray bottle and leaned closer to your face. You hadn’t even realized how close he’d gotten until he was mere inches from you. His bright eyes stared straight into your (E/C) ones as he firmly stated, “Well, I hope you do, because I like you, too. I have for a long time. So, would you want to make a deal? If you stop spraying me with water, I’ll take you on a date.”
Since words failed you, you smiled and nodded. Kaminari grinned and took you by surprise by leaning in, wrapping his arms around your waist, and hugging you close as he twirled you around. “THANK GOD, I’ve been wanting to ask that for a WHILE NOW!”
You giggled in response as he finally set you down, and you were able to find your words again, “I’ve been wanting to tell you for a while now, too! I just didn’t know how to say it.”
“Go get a room!”
The two of you spun around to see Bakugou sulking down the hall towards you. He looked pissed off, as usual. Kaminari sent you a sly wink before approaching the angry boy. “Yeah, yeah. But do you know what this hallway is?”
Bakugou stopped and glared at Kaminari, who leaned closer with a Cheshire Cat grin.
“It’s free real estate.”
ftttzzzzz
Bakugou was sprayed in the face so quickly that he didn’t immediately react. Kaminari dropped the bottle, grabbed your hand, and tugged you down the hall as you ran for your lives. Explosions resounded behind you, followed by a familiar voice yelling, “KAMINARI, YOU ELECTRIC BASTARD! I’M GOING TO KILL BOTH YOU AND (L/N)!”
You didn’t mind the threat of possible death as you let out a breathless laugh. Your focus remained on the warmth of the hand holding yours, and the glee lighting up every inch of Kaminari’s face as you both ran in no particular direction. The company of each other was enough for the both of you.
A/N: Kaminari’s been growing on me tbh and I think he may be one of my new favorite characters. Why, you ask? Well... I wish I freakin knew.

Q+A With Strats and Whiskey!
We held a brief Q+A over on our Twitter, and had some awesome questions come in! We’ll post em here too for everyone to see. Have questions for us too? Hit us up on Twitter or in our ask box :D we’d love to hear from you!
Questions include asking us about the collaborative process, about writing kink together, the trust that takes, what characters we love writing most and our thoughts on writing in general!
PaleGlimmer: I asked about collab writing because I have no idea how you make it work.
WHISKEY: I’ve been collaborating on stories since I got into Hannibal. For me, it started as an offshoot of online RP. If you go back far enough you can see that, because the writing is stilted and jumpy, and you can tell that two people are writing. I’ve had three major collab partners in my fandom life and after a time our “voices” and styles start to gel and it becomes more seamless. That, for me, means that’s the right partner to write with, because you start taking on their mannerisms and descriptions, and they take on yours, and people can’t tell (or can tell very vaguely) that two people wrote a story.
As for technicalities, we just “tag” each other with part of the story for the other to continue it. Sometimes it’s short tags, dialogue, or brief descriptions, other times we get carried away (in the best way possible) and end up writing 6k a day. With Strats and I, we started with preferential characters and usually tagged for just them, but now we cover everything and everyone in our tags.
STRATS: Whiskey covered this pretty well. With Whiskey, We share characters pretty evenly now, and just write about 200-300 word chunks back and forth, but there are definitely characters we each feel more comfortable with. And scenarios we both excel at! Even if I haven’t written much, I’ll tag Whiskey in if we are coming up on something Whiskey is better at, and vice versa. (For example, Whiskey is much better at pretentious Hannibal speeches than I am, and I have a particular fondness for writing emotional breakdowns. This doesn’t mean we are the only person to write those, of course, just that we tag each other in more often.)
If I’m writing with anyone else, I usually write the same way. There’s only one person I’ll still do RP-style writing with. Usually I try to match my partner’s style, so for example, when I wrote with YAMD I focused a lot more on detailed descriptions than I usually do. I can’t really describe it, I just try to align with how my partner writes.
I’M NOT VERY HELPFUL, SORRY :D
Cuttlefishcatfish:
1. What do you love about writing?
STRATS: When you finally get to that moment, that scene you’ve been thinking about for AGES, the one you have entirely plotted for weeks.
Also, writing emotional breakdowns. Give me a sobbing panic attack any day.
WHISKEY: The moment you hit the flow point and everything just makes sense; either an idea just CLICKS or you finally get over that plot point you were worried about and you are racing through.
2. What do you hate about writing?
STRATS: god why haven’t we yet invented a way for me to think words onto the page? I’M SO TIRED.
WHISKEY: That meme? The one that goes like “I need this very specific fic and I need it immediately… which means I need to write it… but I just wanna read it, not write it”. That.
3. One writing tip that you could give to other writers.
STRATS: When I was a teenager I came across some writing advice from an author I loved (I want to say Steven King, but it’s been years). The advice was “sit down and actually write.” And I was PISSED. As a teenager struggling with motivation, I hated that advice.
Now I’m almost 27 and I can safely say that the best writing advice I can give you is JUST FUCKING WRITE THE THING. Even on days I feel like my writing is garbage, I force out a bit of garbage. Force your way through the shitty parts so you can get to the fun parts. You can always go back and edit the shitty parts later (and often it turns out they weren’t as shitty as you thought they were).
WHISKEY: Practice. I’m sorry, I’m trite and boring but honestly that’s the only way you will get better, get into a habit of writing all the time, and start to find your own voice. Practice even just 100 words a day, coz that’s 100 words more than you had yesterday.
4. One overused word in fanfics?
WHISKEY: Oh god our beta actually points these out now haha! I’m terrible for teeth/tongue/lip action (he tongued the corner of his mouth, flashed his teeth, bit his lip)
STRATS: any time someone’s smile “quirks up at the corners” or you read the words “fluttering/thrumming pulse,” that’s me. It’s always me. I have been called out on the hummingbird pulse before.
5. Have you guys disagreed on a story direction? If yes, how do you resolve that?
WHISKEY: I don’t think we have *disagreed* really, once in a while we find that a story doesn’t flow how it should, and we start over, or a character we had planned in our head ends up written differently on a tag. In that case we usually just ping the other and explain what we were after (we have a chat always open alongside writing) and figure out what works best for the story. I can think of a couple times that’s happened and it’s always a super chill and fair affair; both of us have “won” those kinds of things before.
STRATS: We gel really well together, and often our stories are at least loosely planned out from the beginning, so it doesn’t come up much. Every once in a while one of us says “so I don’t think this is working” and we usually do our best to find a way to change it around. It’s not really “fun” to write together if you’re making your partner write something they aren’t happy with, so we try to take each other’s opinions into account.
6. How did you guys manage to let the other into your thought process? Writing is intimate. With a writing partner, that person knows what your kinks, opinions about things, etc. are. Was it scary to let that person in and see you being vulnerable with your works? This is assuming that you let your personality bleed through your stories.
So, this is an awesome question actually, thanks for asking it, and the answer might sound a bit weird so bear with us! We both get a bit of a (major) crush on our writing partners when we write, and after. Not in a way that would be considered cheating or manipulative but in a way that is… intimate. You said it right that it’s intimate. Neither of us want to date the other (besides, Strats is married) but we love each other and spend a lot of time together with our writing.
There is a lot of trust there, and opening up is a process. I think with Strats and I, we started talking about a kink we shared (human furniture) and it sort of bled out from there. “Oh, I also like bondage! And I’m a huge fan of cock and ball torture, you into that?” and it grew from there.
There were some kinks that we came across that we’d both agree were not our jam and we’d just put them away, and there were some kinks that at one point were not one of our kinks but now we share them. These are interesting ones because it happened absolutely organically; neither of us ever push the other into kinks we know make the other uncomfortable, but we do offer the chance, if one of us is so inclined.
For Whiskey this was ABO and feminization, for Strats it’s underage. Once in a while we’ll push a little to see how we feel about those things, but there’s always a carte blanche to back out if anything makes us uncomfortable. It’s honestly such a safe place to explore these things that we really love it. Also both of us are super kinky and very open about it so there’s usually VERY little (if any) filter when we talk sex/kink.
Blue Posey: Where do you get the ideas from? Your stories are so varied.
WHISKEY: We shamelessly pluck ideas from the Hannigram Kinkmeme on Discord, we have about 150 saved in a spreadsheet that we random number generate from when we want a new idea. Sometimes it’s AUs of movies or other shows that we like, sometimes it’s just an idea that we’ve had that we put out into the void and one of us will freak out and connect it to something.
STRATS: we also both keep track of twitter and tumblr and will send each other prompts based on those. We are following quite a few non-fandom porn accounts…
and of course, sometimes I wake up at four am and text whiskey absolute gibberish and in the morning we write a fic.
Christina Shinn: I always like knowing about what gets writers really excited about their own fics. How writers overcome their writer's block. What motivates writers. What are some pet peeves of writers. YAY! Love your fics!
WHISKEY: 1. I get excited about fics I know people are excited about. If Strats pings me with a story idea and she’s stoked about it, I’ll catch that fever and be entirely into exploring that story. Likewise if someone commissions us or requests a story that really digs its heels in.
STRATS: 1) I’ve gotten a LITTLE less vain now that I do commissions and gifts for other people, but generally, every single thing I have written is something I’ve wanted to read, and so I love rereading it. Sometimes I’ll cringe at a typo or a mistake or an awkward line, but overall, I love everything I write. I have spent hours retreading my own fics before. Write the kind of story you want to read!
WHISKEY: 2. Writer’s block is an asshole and honestly I have no actual “fix it” for you; collab writing definitely helps because you have someone to soundboard off of, but even then sometimes we find ourselves just stuck. That’s when we start yet another original story XD
STRATS: 2) Writer's block occasionally eats me alive. If it’s REALLY hitting you, take a day off. It’s okay. Take a break. Do something fun.
But once that day is over WRITE THE THING. Write something terrible. Just do it. You can always fix it later
WHISKEY: 3. Collab writing is hugely motivating for me, it’s an immediate and awesome feedback loop of love. You tag, you send it off, and someone FINDS THAT IDEA COOL ENOUGH TO CONTINUE and ping you back, and you have new material to work with that didn’t come out of your head and… it’s great, it really is. Also feedback from readers. Even if it’s critique (note: not “I hated this” but “this could have been done differently imo”) it’s a great way to keep growing and moving as a writer.
STRATS: 3) collab writing is really motivating for me because I am a Guilt Monster and other people are relying on me. For my own stuff, I’m motivated because I’m writing something I like. Something I want to reread later.
If a story isn’t working for you (and it isn’t required for some sort of work or whatever), stop writing it. Go write something you like. It’s okay to say “actually, I don’t want to write this one anymore.”
WHISKEY: 4. I think every writer has a pet peeve regarding their own headcanons. Some people hate endearments with a pairing, but have their own pet names that work for them in their personal headcanon. In others’ work? There are certain things that irk me, but they’re also entirely personal. If I feel that a character has been written really OOC in a fic that is marked as canon for instance, it grinds my gears. THAT SAID that’s also the writer’s own prerogative.
STRATS: 4) I have too many pet peeves to mention because I am a snob, but I still have relatively low standards for what I’ll read, so I’ve read a vast variety of things.
Besides what Whiskey said about characterization, I have a few aspects of life that I’m somewhat knowledgeable about, and I can’t stand when people get it WRONG. Special mention goes to people writing children badly, which is the entire reason Family of Choice exists. If you don’t have children or know children, PLEASE do some research into child development before you write them. It drives me up the wall when kids are doing things they shouldn’t be at that age. NEWBORNS. DON’T. GIGGLE.
