Okay okay okay I'm obsessed with your Zukka headcanons, more please?
okay this one got long lmaOO
— zuko buys sokka many nice things. he says “my boyfriend enjoys nice things...fine silks...jewels...who am i to deny him this?”and suki says “please zuko these are the royal funds—“
— before they know the next avatar is korra, zuko hopes and prays the next avatar is a swamp bender, because he knows if they’re from the north water tribe it’ll be a whole thing and if they’re from the south he’ll literally never stop hearing about it
— in the beginning, zuko has no qualms about courting sokka. he’s the son of an ally country’s leader like yeah classic political marriage like what’s the issue (other than his own stifling awkwardness of course.)
— — sokka has the brain cell so he’s probably hesitant to jump into a relationship. they’re both public figures and gay marriage was just decriminalized— zukos already a contentious leader. not to mention, sokka has dated royalty before and the devotion to duty only lead to heartbreak.
— — — kataras the one who straightens him out. she is like “we gave our entire childhoods to these countries— don’t let some grandeur of responsibility keep you from the happiness i know you deserve”
— whenever they’re separated for long periods of time, sokka writes these gorgeous, long winded, purple prose letters about how much he loves and misses zuko, and his travels etc that are upwards of 20 pgs
— — zuko responds with “saw a frog today 👍” and sokka chokes up like “he has such a way with words”
— sokka sleeps on the right, zuko on the left
— just being around each other is enough to put them in way better moods. when one of them is gone, both are insufferable to be around.
— sokka goes on a life changing field trip with redemption arc!azula to find the stone for zuko’s engagement necklace and they bond & really connect in a weird way bc like... theyre sorta of the smartest people either of them know
— — meanwhile zuko, toph, and katara go on a life changing field trip for the metal for sokka a royal hairpiece and accidentally create probending
— sometimes it will get reeeeall quiet and sokka will just lean over and whisper to zuko “you know your great grandfathers were fucking right?”
— zuko obviously has days where he needs to just like escape and not to talk to anyone, so sokka will take the crown in his absence.
— — he spends those days doing all the shit zuko hates doing so he doesn’t have to
— sokka still struggles with feeling useless sometimes and thought it baffles zuko how he could possibly think that, he immediately will try to rectify it.
— — so zuko will show him the proof of a history textbook he had to approve, and show him every chapter dedicated to everything sokka invented, planned, or lead during the war and after to prove how important sokka is.
— sokka will be writing and when zuko sits really close to him on his right side, hell just switch the brush over to the left to hold his husband’s hand.
— when korra is first taken in by the white lotus, sokka insists they spend some time down there. zuko tutors her firebending and she loves him, but she’s obsessed with sokka who sneaks her out and teaches her sword fighting.
— not really a zukka head canon but when zuko first starts sleeping with the group at the air temple, he looks over and sees aang just levitating a few inches off the ground and is like “what the fuck” sokkas like “oh yeah that’s how he sleeps you get used to it”
— when katara finds out sokka helped toph have suyin, she’s like “it’s so touching that you want our families to be forever intertwined and for our children to always be connected!” and tophs like uh totally yeah
— — nobody tells her the interaction went “sokka be the father it’ll be funny” and sokka said let me ask my husband and zukos went “lmao do it it’ll be so funny”
— izumi ice dodges when she comes to age and crushes it, which makes hakoda and sokka both cry.
— — when iroh II wants to ice dodge, izumi refuses. she is however not supported by her fathers who are like “you did it! it’s a right of passage, izumi” “dont be a nerd, izumi”
— zuko, being a huge nerd, does indeed have iroh style his hair before their first date and sokka laughs so hard he cries
— sometime straight people will be like “oh the ladies must be sad you two are off the market!” and they will respond “our ex girlfriends are dating each other.”
— their wedding is extremely opulent, as pure sokkas request. zuko would’ve married him in a broom closet.
— zuko calls sokka “socks” and sokka calls him “zuks”
— sokka is very much that guy who wants to pretend he’s all cool but brings up his boyfriend all the time
— — “ugh it’s so hot i can’t breathe” “oh my boyfriend breathes,”

Hey Der! I know you have a big extended family for Taang (maybe even Sukka and Zutara too!), but are there any facts or HCs about grandkids of the Gaang that you can share?
Hm. Enabling me, I see. Well. This is gonna get long, lmao.
The kids in these two drawings are only half canon to my main AU, by which I mean they might be changed and switched out at my convenience. I might have to replace some boys with girls, because there's always too many boys. The only one's I'm actually attached to (already) are these two:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and him:
Tumblr media
The first two boys are Wan and Jin, the sons of Bumi and Kya II. So Taang and Zutara's grandsons. Wan (on the left) is the older one, which obviously isn't very visible here. He's an airbender. Jin is a non-bender. There are a lot of rumours flying around about their paternity, because their parents are neither, and that's despite the fact that Wan is basically Bumi with blue eyes and that Jin definitely has his dad's eyes. It gets to them, Jin especially, because with Wan it's like: Well, our grandpa's an airbender, it just skipped a generation. But I feel like there's a certain stigma to being born a non-bender to two benders, especially when you come form Fire Lords and Avatars. And then there's people saying his dad's not his dad because he can't make fire. It's sucks.
I'm attached to them because I used to think about them going out, being vigilantes together:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Yes, there's art. Obviously. Their looks changed quite a bit.)
I'm getting back into comics, so who knows, maybe I will one day resurrect this niche, self-indulgent superhero AU. I do kinda like the thought of them hearing stories about the Blue Spirit and the Painted Lady and sneaking out for Earth Rumbles from their grandparents and going: Well, we can do that! And of they went, two princes of the Fire Nation called Beifong, off to safe their city. I mean, really what else would one expect when combing Zuko, Katara, Aang, and Toph's genes? Dramatic-ass superhero wannabes, that's what. Jin's less excited about it than Wan, lol, but he follows along anyway, because somebody has to make sure his big brother doesn't get himself killed. And then he also gets into it.
Aguta is the only child of Norbu (and Miki, who barely even exists yet). I guess I'm less attached to really him and more to how he happened? I dunno. Norbu's ace (hello, projection), and he has a lot of fears and anxieties around relationships and intimacy, because sex seems important, and really, he's not interested in that at all, but at the same time, he's acutely aware of how few airbenders there are in the world, and that he kinda ... needs to have a child or two if he wants them to not die out. When he meets Miki, he's in his thirties and this eats away at him. Most people he tells about his troubles are understanding but not necessarily willing to deal with it in a long-term relationship. She is, though, because she gets it. Not the airbender part, of course, she's a non-bender from the South Pole, but the sex part. She's not that into it, either. They eventually have Aguta, obviously, who I don't know much about other than he is indeed an airbender and that that isn't the only reason his parents had him. He looks a bit like Sokka up there, because of the hair, but they're not related. He's a gentle guy with a lot of Grandpa Aang in him.
Otherwise! I know that Metok takes a lot after his dad. He's the oldest grandkid and takes that role quite seriously. His younger siblings take more after their mom, who is very carefree, at least compared to Tenzin. They live in the Fire Nation, close to Grandmas Mai and Ty Lee, and travel on occasion because they are still Air Nomads. Metok's a non-bender like Dawa. I think I wrote down somewhere what the rest of them bend or don't bend, too, but I'm too lazy to search for it now. Also, I do kind of love Metok, because he's the first grandchild I made up and the first I drew. I don't think I could ever change him much, either.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kavi has three kids. He's only biologically related to two of them. Probably. They bend air, so there's a high chance. Not that it matters, really. These kids grow up on the road like Kavi did, and they grow up with a very loose, fluid definition of family. There's rumours about their parentage, too, and tons of judgemental people, but they've been taught very early on, before that gossip could even reach their ears, that blood isn't what matters. That Nuka's Kavi's kid even if he didn't help make her and that Mattaq loves Mida and Kipu even if they don't look like him, and that family is who they decide to make it, and that there's nothing wrong with the way they live and love and all that stuff as long as everybody involved is happy.
Tumblr media
Li Wei receives similar talks, because he's adopted, and he was adopted at four or five, so there's a lot of reassuring that things are alright and that his moms love him and that he belongs, because while I'm not entirely certain what happened before he was adopted (yet), I do know he didn't have it easy. He's a goofy kid, usually. Not always the brightest but definitely one of the kindest people around. He is a very recent addition, actually, because Asha doesn't have any kids in my document, but I kinda like him now.
Tumblr media
I mean, I kinda like all of them. If I ever get to a point in "the most important mark" where a NextNextGen actually comes into play, we'll see if I use all of them or none of them.
And ... that's the Taang grandkids. Also two for Zutara and four for MaiLee. Gotta admit that the NextGen kids not related to Taang are not nearly as fleshed out as the Dunebabies are (especially Ursa, Koji and the Bladebabies), but ... all in due time, I guess. These are already too many OCs, anyway, lol.
Thank you for the ask! I'm not sure if I acutally answered it properly.

Pls,,,,, the brother headcanons,,,,,,,, we crave your amazing writing -💜anon
ksajdfha;kdfj purple heart anon i haven't seen you in my ask box in so long my heart is racing
okay!!
- so three brothers, Ren (21), Haruki (18), and the unnamed little brothers from chapter two (5 or so).
and bc yes i'm this obsessive over my fic, i've created short descriptions of them as well:
- Ren is in the Fire Nation Army (per my Zuko drabble/prequel) and probably has been away from home since he was 18
- i think that he and Y/N probably frequently wrote letters to one another but haven't seen each other since he left home
- i hc that Y/N was closest with Ren, they just get on really well because he's very respectful of her as a person and treats her like the capable person that she is
- he's protective of her as well and i believe he was the only person to stand up for her when it came to her dad being mean
Ren is BIG, super tall, super built, would be absolutely terrifying if he was running at you even without firebending. He's a proficient firebender, relies on big moves/explosions, also know's how to use a sword, but not as well as Y/N
he's got a quiet and calm demeanor, but a big personality. very opposite to his outward appearance, and big himbo energy. He's really funny and you just can't not like him when you meet him.
definitely joined the Fire Nation army because he didn't know what else he could do in life, because he'd been raised like an American boy in public school, pipelined to the army.
someone one time, a long time ago, said that he dated one of Ty Lee's older sisters, and they break up but they get back together and he definitely marries her (ty lee loves the idea of being "sisters" with y/n)
- Haruki joined the Yuyan archers. He's a middle child and I hc him to be... very aggressive? with Y/N. he feels like he's constantly competing with her and Ren and he hates that they get along so well. he thinks that that is them ganging up on him or something
Haruki is like, a long, lithe, quiet looking dude. But he has the WORST temper out of the bunch. when he and Y/N are around each other–especially when they're younger–they WILL fight. I'm talking screaming matches that dissolve into physical beatdowns unless someone stops them. is this how Y/N learns to be a scrappy fighter? maybe ;)
like Y/N, he is ALSO on his dad's shit list because he joined the Yuyan archers instead of the Fire Nation army. He thought that by joining the Yuyan archers he'd be the favored son for once because they're an elite, special operations force of the Fire Nation but it did the complete opposite. basically, middle child? can't win. (also, i hc that the Yuyan archers are made up of nonbenders - or maybe that's canon i don't remember and so their dad thinks that is disgraceful for him to be one)
definitely is a great firebender, more precise than Ren but enjoyed learning archery, and that was definitely a factor in joining the Yuyan archers, while also trying to impress his dad
when he and Y/N get older though, i'm talking post war and after, he and Y/N have a better relationship because they now refuse to let their dad's influence fuel their petty rivalry. they still argue sometimes, but that's because they're both hot-heads
also lmao, idk why but he's definitely gay
- the unnamed little brother: i don't have much on him, tbh (i mean lmao he doesn't even have a name), mostly because Y/N didn't live with him for long and they only saw each other on important dates and holidays.
- like to think that he kind of has this obsession with Y/N though, like he hears stories about her from his mom and just finds her to be this mythical creature almost because "my sister is important enough to live at the palace?!!" and when she comes home from being with the gaang, he's like jumping in her arms (which probably freaks Y/N out a lot) and is all in her business trying to figure out where she was and what she did and overall is a really annoying little 5-year-old but honestly she finds it really endearing
- i also hc that he hangs out with her a lot more when she gets back and they become really close too, she's very over protective of him and when he's little she will give him piggyback rides all over the palace and take him to all the sweet shops in the city and buy him anything he wants
- he's like the sweetest little kid you'll ever meet because I fully believe that their dad wasn't around enough to corrupt him. plus their mom is more protective of him than she was of the others because he's the baby. so i don't think she would have let Y/N's dad be mean to him.
- edited to add: after the war, the three oldest siblings (and eventually Unnamed Brother joins them) establish an annual trip to their house on Ember Island, where they basically relive the best parts of their childhoods. They swim in the ocean and in hidden lagoons on the island in the morning before it gets too hot. they skimboard and do whatever the equivalent to surfing the atla universe has. they cut fruit for each other and gorge on it during the day as they doze on the porch. they train at dusk, playing the silly games they learned when they were really young (that taught them things like how to hone their firebending and sword training). every night for the week they’re there, they have a bonfire out on the beach where they sit around it and talk about their lives, they talk about stupid things they did as kids and they talk about their growing families and the frustrations of their jobs. they go to old spots they used to sneak away to when they were kids, places that haven’t been seen by a human in 12+ years. they play in tide pools and catch badgerfrogs and fireflies when it gets dark. basically they live their best years over again and again with no Father or Mother to reprimand them for wasting time or tracking mud in the house.
- of course during these week long trips, the gaang is always invited, and almost always they join for a few days or the whole week. and it’s fun for everyone, but all of them can tell that this is really for Y/N and her brothers. Unnamed Brother joins in the fun, but he can’t understand the lives the other three lived in the Before. He was born basically as they all left the nest and his life was vastly different. It’s really about them having the childhoods they missed out on for so many years.

ash never shut up!! do you have headcanons about zuko and suki? 👀
Kia!! 🥰 omg yes I do!! Too many honestly. Also I’m actively trying to write the story of how they become BFFs properly but it’s... slow going.
Generally speaking Suki and Zuko are really close, to the point that it confuses people. Firstly because none of their other friends were around to see it happen, so from their perspective, Suki and Zuko just showed up to an outing one day holding hands and were like, yeah we’re soulmates basically. At the end of the original series they kind of hovered around each other but they weren’t that good of friends. I accept the Kyoshi Warrior Bodyguard plot point from The Comics mostly, but I think it should happen a few years later (no 16 year old Firelords for me please, and also give the girls some time off to chill post-war).
It’s about the way neither of the two of them particularly wanted to be in the bodyguard situation, but they went along with it for pragmatic reasons. It’s about having to be basically attached at the hip for months and how they not only don’t kill each other but also find out, hey, This Person Gets Me.
They’re both insomniacs. Suki has nightmares and is mildly claustrophobic from her time in prison, and Zuko’s paranoid and stressed from like, nearly being assassinated once or twice lol. They stay up together swapping stories or stargazing. Eventually they get comfortable enough to be able to actually sleep. Conveniently the bodyguard situation means they have to share a room and a bed because.... idk just go with it. They sleep back-to-back usually so that if some assassin shows up, that dumbass is gonna get Wrecked.
Zuko’s weirdly very good at calming Suki down post nightmares. I like to imagine he got help to deal with his own issues post-canon, and he’ll pass along what he learned to his friends.
They’re both also just, so full of pride. Suki moreso than Zuko even. They both feel like they should be able to look after themselves, that they don’t need anyone else. They’re both leaders in their own right. This makes the bodyguarding awkward at first because Zuko is Difficult and keeps sneaking out. Suki calls him on this and Zuko eventually notices that the whole thing is wearing on her (i.e. the insomnia). Eventually they make a pact: “I’ll let you protect me, but you have to let me take care of you too.”
The second reason their relationship confuses people is that they’re so comfortable with each other that they sometimes act like a romantic couple. Even in a universe where they’re not and never will be. They’re just very casual about physical affection.
If an outsider asks if they’re friends or dating or what, they’ll just give some dumbass fake answer. “We’re ex prison buddies.” “He’s my platonic trophy husband.” “She put a curse on me after I burned down her village and then kissed her boyfriend, and now I have to follow her around and run errands for her forever.”
This contrasts with Zuko’s relationships with the other gaang girls. With Katara and Toph it’s like big brother and little sister. Suki, on the other hand, really is his partner in a lot of ways. He doesn’t make a decision without running it by her first. And Zuko’s one of the few people that Suki trusts completely and implicitly. She would never ask him for advice because he’s... him. BUT he’s a good sounding board. He mellows as he gets older and ends up being a really good listener. Also, that thing he does where he makes deadpan ‘I believe in you’ comments out of nowhere? Really works for Suki
Random, but I definitely think Suki is closer in age to Zuko than anyone else (she’s a month or two younger at most) and they end up the same height when they’re older.
They’re very honest with each other, sometimes to a fault. Most of their arguments stem from one calling the other on a lie or not-so-gentle bullying about a dumb decision.
Usually though, Zuko is chill with Suki’s gentle bullying and even plays along
Lighter note, Zuko’s reckless as all hell and Suki is the ultimate enabler so that always leads to trouble. I’ve alluded to cliff diving before. When Zuko gets Druk it’s joyride hours all hours of the day.
And because we’re both citizens of Zukki nation: I see Suki and Zuko getting close as the catalyst for going poly. Zuko is unconditionally and endlessly supportive of both Suki and Sokka, and he’s better at dealing with some of Sokka’s moods and some of Suki’s issues. So when Sokka and Suki discuss it they notice that like, the two of them even have a better relationship with Zuko around. They’re not trying to fill so many of their emotional needs with just each other anymore. So it’s just like good for everyone, whether you hc the Suki/Zuko branch as being fully romantic or not. I don’t at the moment, I think it’s more inbetween as above, but I also change my mind a lot lol
ANYWAY ty for this ask I went a little wild but I love them sfm 💕
