i don't expect adaptations to be carbon copies of the original, because then what would be the point of the adaptation when we already have the original. i don't expect adaptations to be better than the original, sure, there are a few cases of that happening, but it's rare.

what i do expect adaptations is to be faithful to the source material, keeping to the same themes that were integral to the original, and i do expect adaptations to maintain the integrity of the characters, especially in a show like avatar the last airbender, where much of its appeal and depth come from the growth, development and the relationships of the characters and that's where natla fails.

#changes to characters can be good sometimes. but the changes the creators of natla made are not good. #if you believe that the changes they have made are for the better? im not listening to you. argue with the wall. #i dont really care if you like it. if you like it. good for you! #i didnt. it sucks ass. its... so flat and completely assassinated so many characters. katara. bumi. iroh. hakoda. #there are few positives. it isnt all bad. most of it is though. #its not worse than the movie. ill give them that. some of the scenes were great. but... ugh. #side note - i see a lot of people complimenting the outfits and... sure. they look pretty. but the thing is they shouldn't look pretty. #aang is 12 years old. he's reckless and messy and loves to goof off. his clothes are not going to look pristine and brand new. #sokka teaches children to be warriors. you cannot tell me his clothes wouldn't be dirty and torn. #same with katara. but she's an amateur waterbender who messes up. a lot. #ZUKO HAS BEEN ON A RUN DOWN SHIP FOR THREE YEARS. his armour would be OLD. I had a weird dream the other night

#Listen to my problems #we had just found out on the news that a huge meteor was going to hit us and there was nothing we could do about it but enjoy the next two #minutes of our lives. my childhood best friend was just telling me about how shes never had strawberries dipped in chocolate so i #rushed home to prepare some. i could see a bunch of them outside the window dragging a couch out to watch the meteor as it fell #and i kept looking up nervously as i made it and in the final fifteen seconds i rushed out laughing in apology and thrust the bowl into her #hands and she made space for me on the couch with all our other friends and i fed her two and gobbled one down myself #they tasted pretty bad but we were both laughing about it and i fed her the last one #my fingers were pressed to her lips and they were so soft and the heat from the comet was practically boiling us and everything was cast in #orange and yellow and i pushed her against the sofa and hugged her and smeared the melted chocolate on her face and kissed her #we looked at each other grinning like crazy and she said thanks for the chocolates. and i was like :') and then it hit us #so what was that all about ?

drops her head to sneeze

like she doesn't necessarily bend over or stoop down, she like cranes her neck downwards

sneezes into a tissue if available, turns away from people if not

she'll stifle the next fit if there's another after the first during a moment

stifles are almost louder than the actual sneeze gang

puts a hand over her mouth/nose when stifling

drawn out, shallow hitches over the span of a couple of seconds before a fit

no sneefies :(

you really see it in her eyes more than anything; they grow panicked and then unfocused

no allergies, doesn't get sick very easy

scents are fine

but her nose is SUPER sensitive to touch, temperature, and other sensations

literally her own hair falling onto her nose will get her hitching

you know what REALLY gets her going? static shocks.

you know what her extremely unstable electric arts give her to several parts of her body? static shocks.

you know what happens when she loses control of her arts because she sneezes so much? static freaking shocks

she thinks it's horrible and she hates it. it's a nasty little feedback loop

covering her nose helps a little

not too concerned about sneezing in front of others in and of itself, she just fears her arts getting out of control

appreciates being blessed at least... it's a small but welcome comfort

I know I'm not the best when it comes to getting canon characterization right, but when I deviate from canon, I (usually) have a justified reason for doing so. Whether that be projection or differences for AU purposes, it's usually understandable.

And then there's the pain that comes from blatant mischaracterization that has nothing to do with an AU, and it's either because the person genuinely sees the character that way or does it for weird shipping purposes. Like, really weird shipping purposes. I'm talking "Character A is such a frail bottom UwU" and "Character B is such a strong top, protecting their precious partner". THAT kind of weird change for shipping. Especially when it comes to LGBTQ+ couples.

it is kinda weird tho how much a lot of western media focuses on how you are just born with X good thing and makes fun of people who instead aren't born with it and have to work hard instead? or god forbid, care too much?

Personal HC: Wally would want you to feel comfort when first coming to Home as he welcomes you, so he chooses a scent that reminds you of your childhood! For example, like the smell of freshly baked cookies, brownies.. or your favorite home cooked meal! Maybe it truly is to comfort you, maybe it's to lead you to a false sense of security into trusting him. How did he know your favorite scent that comforts you personally? Well, Wally is your best friend! Of course he knows your favorite things!

Terrible rushed picture on the way to work this morning but look at this bag i crocheted for my not-really-boss-but-she-is-in-charge-of-many-things-but-not-me-specifically-as-far-as-i-can-tell. She was super excited by all my bags i kept bringing and always complimented them and said she wished we had time for me to teach her to crochet, and i am just so unused to the relentlessly nice compliments that i ended up crocheting her a bag. You cant really see it but it has a white base as well. And its the closest i could get to rainbow colors (she is, as far as i can tell, the type of Ally TM who puts rainbows on everything), so it seemed a safe color scheme. Anyway when i gave it to her today she was speechless for a few seconds and then started punching the air
