bringing you some thoughts on sugar daddy!yagi. it was going to be aizawa, but yagi seemed like a much better fit for what came to mind.
tw: f!reader, escort!reader, retired!yagi, retired/quirkless!yagi’s physical appearance isn’t known to the public
Tumblr media
sugar daddy!yagi who never intended to be a sugar daddy. felt mortified at the thought that he was seriously considering hiring an escort for something as simple as companionship. why was it so hard to meet a nice woman to settle down with in his retirement? he was kind and knew very well how to build a romantic relationship… in theory. he just spent the majority of his career without one.
sugar daddy!yagi who was so nervous when he met you that his hands shook. who cleaned himself up well. who assumed you would walk away when you saw how he looked. you almost did, but it wasn’t his age or his looks. it was that he’d mentioned he was a bit “high profile,” but wanted to meet you before revealing more details.
sugar daddy!yagi who was stunned when you walked over to his table. his mouth went dry when he saw just how pretty you were in real life. you weren’t quite half his age at thirty, but it was close to that with him being in his late fifties. you hadn’t worn anything special other than a nice, casual dress. he was enraptured by the brightness of your eyes and smile, got a fluttery feeling in his chest whenever you laughed.
sugar daddy!yagi who, if he hadn’t looked so pathetic and anxious to admit that he was toshinori yagi, you wouldn’t have believed him at all. you’d taken on a couple of higher profile clients before, but never a world renowned hero, and the scraggly, dark eyed man looked nothing like all might. yagi begged you not to walk away from the secluded table he’d reserved. you hadn’t laughed in his face, but you certainly didn’t believe him either. “i can prove that i’m telling the truth,” he said. “i’ll double, triple your rate if that’s what it takes. please, give me a chance.”
sugar daddy!yagi who was indeed who he said he was. you decided to agree to meet him a few more times before setting anything into a contract because something about him drew you in. it wasn’t the flowers he bought you or the way he carried himself, it was his kindness.
sugar daddy!yagi who is so adorably nervous even after the contract is set that you can’t help but find it endearing. who makes it very clear that he wants companionship - nothing sexual - in exchange for your time. who spends the majority of his time cuddling with you, taking interest in learning your hobbies, and talking about your life.
sugar daddy!yagi who encourages you to lean into the success of your career and wants to see you grow as a person the more he knows you. who takes the time to learn about your hobbies and try them with you in an effort to have more interests in common. who shares his with you and brings you along to do things with him.
sugar daddy!yagi who doesn’t blink the first time he hands you a check large enough to cover your rent, bills, and groceries for the month thrice over. it’s far above what you’d agreed on for his temporary contract, but the moment you’d mentioned things were “a little tighter than usual,” he wouldn’t hear anything else. if you were going to be his baby, he was going to take care of you.
sugar daddy!yagi who is stunned once again when you give him a kiss on the cheek as a thank you. you really didn’t expect generosity like that, especially from a new client, but the more you get to know yagi as a person, the less it surprises you. sure, his career made him put on a character of sorts for the public, but underneath that he was still kindhearted and generous.
sugar daddy!yagi who tells you to save what you don’t need for future expenses and spoils you rotten on top of that. pretty jewelry, clothes, a nice handbag or a pair of shoes, anything your heart could desire, he could give it.
sugar daddy!yagi who blushes so hard the first time you call him daddy, you think you might have done something wrong. he’s in disbelief at how good it feels to hear that on your lips. he squeezes your hand tighter and grins a little.
sugar daddy!yagi who’s shocked when you say you don’t want to start a long term contract. he looks heartbroken until you tell him, “i… i’d rather just be with you, if that’s okay. no contract, just us.” and suddenly his heart is thrumming in his chest. his mind races. he pulls your face in and kisses you tenderly without a second thought. whose eagerness is firm and his hands rough.
sugar daddy!yagi who quickly starts coming out of his shell after that first kiss. who’s shameless in treating you like his baby - spoiling even further, having you on his arm at any given chance, pampering your mind and body as often as he can. who is far from an incompetent lover; the way his hands travel over your body tells you that much.
sugar daddy!yagi who, after a little time, fucks you better than anyone you’ve ever met. who is attentive to every little detail in how you respond. who pulls more orgasms out of you than you thought possible. who fucks you harder when you call him daddy, runs his hands and mouth over your skin while he groans. who grins sheepishly when you compliment him as his cheeks tinge pink.
sugar daddy!yagi who loves it when you sit in his lap and ride him; he gets the best view of your tits and he doesn’t have to do as much work. he loves fucking you stupid, but he’s tired more often than not and adores when you give him that. who chokes out heavy breaths and small whines as he praises you so sweetly for being his good girl.
sugar daddy!yagi who craves slow, lazy morning sex because it pulls out the prettiest mewls from your throat. who wakes you up with kisses on your neck and his hand running over your panties. who will wake you up early every once in a while to fuck you or get you off before work.
sugar daddy!yagi who swears the sound of your sweet voice heals something inside him, whose tired hero heart is mended a little when you moan his name. who adores fucking you and loving you into a complete mess. who shows you daily that he’s lucky to have you as his sweet sugar baby.

He is the brightest star of them all... and he will never fall from the sky.
I've been listening to Sonne a lot, and thought about this scene. And, since I have already given a brief introduction to the story with Izuku, I decided this illustration would be a perfect introduction to...
The League of Karma
➠ Who Are They?
Unlike the League of Villains, the League of Karma is a group of vigilantes led by Izuku Shigaraki, also known as Viridaemon. Despite being vigilantes, they are usually considered a villain group due to their violent nature.
Izuku offers his followers protection, a safe place to rest, food, weapons, disguises and special suits if needed, among other benefits. In return, they can do as they please as long as they agree to his mission and conditions.
➠ The League's Mission and Izuku's Conditions
The League of Karma is united with one goal: Eliminate the Unforgivable. Izuku and Toshinori do most of the researching, finding people who have committed heinous crimes but have not been aprehended or punished, and collecting the proof.
The Hideout has a pinboard with all the information they need: the name, picture, location, and crime of the target. The League Members can choose if they want to go on a hunt for said target whenever they choose, unless it is marked with a green sticker - that mark means they cannot pursue the specific target without Izuku being present.
Targets can be marked with a green sticker for one of three reasons:
It is a very famous and/or powerful figure, that would mean a very difficult battle that would attract a lot of media attention.
It is someone Izuku wants personal revenge against.
Izuku wants to take the target's quirk.
Besides that, there are other conditions they must follow to remain on the League:
Never, ever, kill or severely hurt the innocent.
If stealing becomes a necessity, steal from large companies.
Never reveal the Hideout's location.
Never reveal Izuku's secret identity.
Finally, what places someone in the League of Karma's hit list?
The answer is: crimes most people can easily consider "unforgivable", most of which are taking advantage of, hurting, or killing, innocent and defenseless people, especially children. (Think: Overhaul)
If the culprit is a hero, they become a priority target, as Izuku has a deep hatred of heroes who act like villains behind closed curtains. (Think: Endeavor)
➠ The Members, Their Roles, And Their Dynamics
Izuku Shigaraki (Viridaemon) - Founder and leader.
Toshinori Yagi (All Might) - Izuku's mentor. Has contacts with many outside helpers and resource suppliers. Can and sometimes does train the others in better fighting skills.
Tomura Shigaraki - Izuku's older brother who is around for dangerous missions to protect his brother if things go wrong. Most of the time, however, he only plays games. Second in command in case of Izuku's absence.
Oboro Shirakumo (Kurogiri) - Mostly takes care of the Hideout, but can be present in missions where disappearing quickly is of most importance.
Karma Warriors
Himiko Toga
Touya Todoroki (Dabi)
Shuichi Iguchi (Spinner)
Jin Bubaigawara (Twice)
Atsuhiro Sako (Mr. Compress)
Kenji Hikiishi (Magne)
Chizome Akaguro (Stain)
Izuku was raised in a hostile environment. While his adoptive brother was loved, he was neglected and abused for being "too weak for a quirk". With the added weight of not having friends at school, he grew up feeling unloved and utterly alone, with Tomura being a sole exception.
Because of this, he is incredibly loyal to his followers and goes above and beyond to make them comfortable, such as helping Magne with her transition and finding anxiety medication for Twice. He is extremely protective of them and only abandons a battlefield after they are all safe.
While Viridaemon displays an elegant but arrogant, cruel, and merciless personality - it is all a mere act to sound more intimidating as a villain, and to be taken more seriously. In reality, he is mostly gloomy a lot of the time. Still, he is full of empathy, and is always kind and respectful to his followers, often using unexpected gifts as a love language and making sure to show them his appreciation anytime he can.
The League's members respect him fully, as he is not only their leader and protector, but also a beacon of hope, their inspiration, and their sun. (He is to them much like canon Deku is to his classmates.) He gained the title Young King of Villains as his followers would start to act as if he was their king - bowing like knights, and sometimes referring to him as Izuku-sama.
Izuku never requested or even suggested them to do those things, but they started to do it to cheer him up, and it worked. He often smiles or gets flustered when it happens, but it gives him a confidence boost. Dabi thinks it is quite silly and didn't care much for it, but doesn't mind joining the act, mostly as a form of gratitude.
Overall, the atmosphere in the League of Karma's hideout is friendly, and there is an equal mix of acknowledging Izuku's authority and of knowing he is a very hurt teen who needs to be protected too sometimes.

I can understand ppl not liking stains character (not me tho, love that guy 😌 i too, love and wax poetic about toshi), but im actually surprised that so many people are mad about not only the impact but also the importance of stain in toshinori's arc.. like, idk im sure i fail to pick up on some things as i read the manga, but it makes perfect sense why stain would take on such an important role in saving and helping toshi (in more ways than one). But maybe im just biased ?? Anyway, something something they hate him for being a slut and all the killings something something
Yeah, what gets me is that post was clearly talking about the people who were directly involved in Toshi's arc about choosing to live and the OP included Bakugo bc he's clearly being set up as the coup de grâce/grand finale to that arc about living. Stain's inclusion as a direct participant in that arc was also obvious-- like, "why is a self-righteous killer being included in Toshi's arc but not my favorite student character?? this is proof that the writing is bad!" is such a wild argument imho, bc it's so obvious to me that Toshi needed to develop a relationship with a villain chara entirely because of this:
Tumblr media
"If you think of him as anything more than a villain--" the entirety of Act 2 exists to challenge this mindset, and Act 3 exists to defeat it. Stain plays a crucial role beyond just helping convince Toshi to live and fight for his own (and everyone else's) right to keep living--Toshi's heart is able to heal specifically because he doesn't dismiss Stain or think of him as "nothing more than a villain." His meeting with Stain triggers a subtle but needed change in how Toshi views villains:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Calling Stain's contribution to the final act "pointless" ignores the heart of this story and why Toshinori SPECIFICALLY needed Stain SPECIFICALLY as a catalyst for a certain SPECIFIC change, and it ignores what that change actually means for the greater narrative-- again, people tend to severely underestimate how important Tomura and Toshinori actually are to each other's respective arcs, and those arcs are now converging. Like, I don't want to see ppl feigning surprise when their arcs finally overlap with each other, lmao.
Side note, but Stain being a central catalyst character for both Toshi and Tomura + also being the trigger for Tomura doubling down on his villainy + ALSO being one of the many key triggers that will likely lead to Tomura's salvation feels.... bizarrely fitting?? Without Stain, Tomura never seeks out Izuku at the mall, never meets Toga + Touya + Spinner (ESPECIALLY SPINNER), and remains forever at odds with Toshi due to both men remaining stuck in their respective hero/villain roles and being utterly unable to truly *SEE* each other outside those roles. Stain is literally a load bearing wall lmao ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bkgo going from "stock bully" to someone who practically has to beg Toshinori and Izuku to take their fucking Lexapro while tears stream down his face is the funniest direction his character arc could have taken, but it’s also the best direction it could've taken.
↑ In Bakugo's case, it's obvious why he has a role in Toshinori's arc about living and it's completely fair to include him in a list of people who are most important and influential to that particular arc. There's no need for explanation and no question about what his role in the upcoming chapters will be.
Also I keep seeing people say that the suicide move was meant to be Toshi's homage to Bakugo when, like... it very clearly wasn't. 💀💀💀 Like, Bakugo does have a right to be upset that Toshi was planning to kill himself just to buy them all a few extra seconds of time against AFO-- but I feel like people kind of....?? Don't understand Bakugo's character development if they seriously think he would yell at or guilt-trip Toshi about it. He didn't yell at Izuku when Izuku hit rock bottom, and he knows that Izuku and Toshi suffer from the same feelings of worthlessness and lack of regard for themselves better than anyone. - - - - - - - - - -
Anyway, I think the real root of the issue is actually less about Stain and more so that people are just mad about All Might lmao. One quarter of the fandom thinks he should've died in Kamino, another quarter thinks he should just die now, another quarter thinks that Iron Might is character assassination, a chunk of folks just don't care, and whatever's left over is the handful of old man enthusiasts who think that it's truly lovely (myself included)-- Iron Might is fully intended to be a love letter to everything Toshinori loves and wants to protect, himself included. Criticize it if you like, but if you can't at least acknowledge that much, then something in your heart is dead.
I also feel like also there's something to be said here abt how fandom approaches older adult characters w mental health problems & who struggle with suicidal ideation vs. how they approach the younger characters-- Like, I've seen a shocking lack of sympathy for Toshi from the same people who are very considerate to characters like Touya and Tomura, and I've seen otherwise kind people calling Toshi a "whiner" for what are obvious symptoms of SEVERE depression. These characters all have wildly different circumstances, yes-- but they all struggle with suicidality that manifests in different ways, and I feel they all deserve a more compassionate, delicate reading into their specific arcs and their respective actions as a result.
Toshi's arc and his struggles with mental health in particular is something I feel is handled in such a deeply kind way. The story never once disparages Toshi for backsliding, or treats him as selfish or a lost cause for continuing to struggle even though there are so many people supporting him and encouraging him to live. The story is kind, but the fandom isn't, and that's a bit of a tragedy. (and like, this is probably tmi, but I've struggled with my own mental health since middle school and the suicidal ideation really never goes away no matter how well I'm doing in life-- so.... I'm so happy to see a character with similar issues being depicted so kindly in a story, lol.)
Anyway!
"something something they hate him for being a slut and all the killings something something"
Yeah, they hated him b/c his ass was fat, or whatever those crazy kids are saying these days. <- fully aware that Stain is flat as a board.

I hope deku dies worse than bakugo they take both arms out idk but bakugo's death makes no sense I hate everything
Anon, I'm going to tell you something. I entered this manga with the understanding that Bakugo would experience a loss of the greatest magnitude since the very beginning.
Tumblr media
And he was going to do it, like so many haughty, misguided, and fragile shonen archetypes before him, for the people he has loved, perhaps poorly, but also completely.
And I had to very seriously ask myself if I was sure I could watch this play out. I had to ask if I was ready to do that to myself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And it made me so angry to watch this show, knowing that was what was happening, often unnoticed to the characters who he really need to notice the most, and then later, for me to just... read this manga at all. To read it knowing what was going to happen and why nobody ever addressed it directly.
Tumblr media
To know, and watch Izuku be clueless about what Katsuki is mulling over in his heart. To watch him not really be able to explain what's happening to his classmates. To watch Toshinori not completely understand the details, but come so, so close still to be pushed away because Katsuki can't... accept it.
Tumblr media
To watch and then be so furious and heartbroken when I listen to people in real life say Katsuki was a true villain and a psychopath and everything wrong with society and a worthless piece of shit.
Look in a mirror, I thought (and still think) to those people. Look in a mirror and understand that you're just like him. Look in a mirror and understand you have a long way to go before you have enough empathy to understand what you're talking about.
Then, to hear people very often just, like, praise Izuku in the same breath made me extremely frustrated. It makes me say a lot of nasty things about Izuku! Self-disparaging, selfish, demanding Izuku. And every time I do it, I think to myself, it's because I'm looking in a mirror, too. And what I see looking back at me isn't Katsuki, but Izuku.
Tumblr media
And then I think to myself, you know, I signed up for this knowing Katsuki made these choices, and kept watching over his shoulder even though I knew what was lying in wait for him. I was watching him figure it in one way or another, too, only to be tricked when he thought he conquered death and achieved some sort of enlightenment through his quirk evolution.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a really mean trick to watch the story play on him. But I think that's sort of the point.
There's worse things in real life and in shonen stories than death, anon. In fact, if you have the mindset of Gran Torino, death can be a mercy even if its prelude is humiliation and fear.
But, you know, a character with an arc like Katsuki's needs to have them face their greatest fear and show them at their lowest point. And it's not really his death or how he dies, or even if Izuku dies too that will be constructive for him in any way.
I think the real tragedy and challenge posed by his current circumstance isn't really the physical damage done to him or even that his story might end, necessarily. It's that he has to think his story will end with him still not caught up with Izuku. With him still just there, hanging on like a string of goldfish poop. With him being in Izuku's shadow.
Tumblr media
With Izuku never seeing Katsuki for who he really is without the pedestal, the golden glow, the barrier of social boundaries they don't know how to navigate. And worse, the potential to save his life as it currently stands is predicated on someone else sacrificing theirs. That’s not a “perfect victory”. To Katsuki, it’s not a victory at all.
But Katsuki's gotta do it and get through this! He's gotta be here and we all have to sit in it with him now to see how it all turns out. I don't know how it will turn out, but it will.
And what kind of possible happy ending and victory would it be for Katsuki if, in the end, Izuku had only been mangled, too? After how hard Katsuki tried to help prepare him for this? To keep Izuku alive? To keep everyone safe?
I empathize with how heartbroken you are, anon, but I don't see how wishing for bad things on Izuku is going to help you. Katsuki has made his choice over and over again to help the person he thinks is so worthy, so wouldn't the best thing we can hope for in the spirit of his desires be to put all of those feelings away now and want the best for Izuku no matter what else may happen?

My Hero Academia Chapter 403: The End of an Era and The Beginning
It's been a while since I did this mainly due to being busy with Grad School (which I'm almost done with thank god). But, I don't think a chapter has gotten me this hyped since Shoto Todoroki: Rising and Ochako's chapter where she saves Toga. Since the chapter is officially released, I can scream, cry, and kick my feet with you all in these bullet points. God, I love My Hero Academia, y'all.
• First off, HOLY SHIT KATSUKI BAKUGO IS ALIVE!!!!!! Apparently, it has been over 400 days since he was initially killed and brought every Bakugo lover to their knees in tears including myself. I still remember leaks night when that happened and pretty much everyone was in mourning. Then leaks night happens for his revival and everyone is celebrating like it's the second coming of Christ or something and I'm with them!
• We all knew that Bakugo would come back to life once Edgeshot started surgery on his heart, but it was the way his resurrection would be executed that I was wondering about. I can see why the whole "Edgeshot suddenly sacrifices himself to save Bakugo" would lessen the impact of his "death", but I really don't care much anymore because the way Kohei Horikoshi brought Bakugo back was SO good!
• Think about it: All Might is on the brink of death in the hands of All For One. All the red flags are there including the flashback of baby Toshinori (SO CUTE BTW LOOK AT THAT BIG LAUGH🥺) and his mother (whom he absolutely inherited his hairstyle from) in this very chapter. Gentle wants to help save him, but he's focused on keeping UA in the air. Every pro hero, UA student, and the Big 3 are either severely injured, passed out, or too preoccupied with something else to take on AFO. And even Izuku Midoriya, his protege, is busy dealing with Tomura Shigaraki in order to prevent him from turning Japan into dust. The only other person who can possibly save All Might now is Bakugo despite probably still being seriously injured himself.
• And this is great for Bakugo because this is his chance to save All Might. Not only is All Might his idol and his hero, but he is also the man Bakugo truly believes he destroyed after being kidnapped in Kamino Ward. I still believe Bakugo hasn't truly forgiven himself for that yet and this would be his way of redeeming himself. This reason alone is why I don't think All Might will die in this final arc. And if he does, I will be devastated because I really want to see him survive until the end.
• I am going to conclude this by commenting on how incredible Horikoshi is not just as a writer but as an artist because holy shit he needed that 2 week break. We got an incredible WSJ-colored Cover Page, a chapter-colored cover page, and then 15 pages of peak fiction. Those final pages once it's revealed that Bakugo is alive will live in my head rent-free for the rest of my days. ESPECIALLY THOSE LAST TWO PAGES HOLY SHIT! THE FACES, THE TEARS, THE WAY TIME SUDDENLY STOPPED WHEN THEY LOOKED AT EACH OTHER 💚🧡 The way Horikoshi draws All Might, Bakugo, and Deku is astounding and makes me cry. Those are his adopted sons. Those boys are soulmates in some capacity whether you like it or not. It may be the end of All Might's era, but it's the beginning of a new era; a new generation of heroes with Deku and Bakugo taking the lead. I can't wait for next week!

Hey sorry I know this is weird but
You got that anon before talking about being worried because their F/O is a minor and people might not take their love for that F/O seriously in the first place, but like ?
It would probably be good to point out that people age while characters predominantly don’t? Or at least are stuck in a kind of stasis when there ceases to be new canon material, so like. I personally “aged out” of being suitable for one of MY F/Os even though I was also a minor when they became my F/O? And idk people are allowed to have their own opinions, but I’ve always operated under the assumption that my F/Os age with me, so we’re Both not minors anymore
People still might pick to hate if they’re so inclined and might not care to listen to reasoning, but it might be food for thought
I’ve never actually seen any instances of minors with adult F/Os going 😠 you CANT love them, they’re too old for you etc, soooo
You're talking about Aging Up an F/O? I think? Sorry I don't fully understand what you're saying or what you mean with this ask.
But yeah some people will age a Fictional Character Up to match their IRL age, or age up with them if they've been together long enough for that, and I always think that's neat! Childhood friends to lovers kind of thing, very cool. Always a thumbs up in my book.
But some people don't do that! Some people Age their S/Is down, or don't change at all, and that's good too!
I personally don't like changing canon very much, or thinking too far outside the Canon Content Timeline, it misses the mark for what makes Self Inserting and Self Shipping fun for me, so I'll usually make an S/I who's age matches the F/O in canon, and leave them at that age no matter my irl age.
Maybe it's just because I'm somewhere in the Age Dreamer/Regressor camp, but the idea of Age Sliding your S/I to fit the Canon Demographic seems a lot less complicated than Aging Up an F/O. I can be any age, but canon events only happen when they are This Age, you know? Does that make sense?
And of course there's people who like the age gap. My first My Hero self insert is in his early 20s and dating Toshinori Yagi who's in his... mid 50s? I think? My Kisses Sun on the Mouth Security Breach Self Insert is 4. My Promised Neverland S/I meets Leuvis at 16 and is half raised by him until they get married when he's 25. I have several Immortal S/Is who date Mortals as young as 20! It's a fun plot point! For some people it's angsty, but I use it for pure silly thoughts mostly, I don't take it too seriously.
There's a lot of different ways to go about self inserting with an age gap. You can make yourself older, you can make the F/O younger, you can match your ages or be drastically different. Sometimes you wanna be just a littol guy and sometimes you wanna be the oldest fart in the series
As always, the only point is to have fun, and do whatever you want forever.

Okay, here's an interesting question: what kind of Mobians would the MHA cast be?
(that's a very sneaky way of asking what I think these guys' fursona would be chapel ;p) no but seriously as like a quick little thing:
Rabbits: Izuku and Inko, as well as Miruko obviously but she's a mountain Hare. Also maybe Toshinori as a Hare.
Cats: Ochako because beans, also Todoroki cause he's got the blank stare and odd intensity for one. Also because Blaze but that goes without saying. Aizawa is a big, frumpy cat who keeps collecting more kitties and nobody seems able to stop him.
Dogs: Tenya is a big German Shepherd, Denki is a loud and excitable Chihuahua, Bakugo is a Bulldog or perhaps an overconfident Shiba.
Rodents: Mineta is a shrew because I actually respect rats, Kirishima is Knuckles-coded so obviously Echidna. Is Nedzu a mouse, a shrew, a rat? Well its obvious really, he's the principle. Also Nighteye as a Meercat, he's long and thin enough for it.
Reptile and Amphibians: Tsuyu is a frog, Habuko-chan is a snake, for self evident reasons. Gonna be unconventional with Jirou and say Skink. also unconventional with Momo and say Aligator, who are more affectionate and goofy then you may think. (look its either that or a cow and Momo doesn't deserve that)
that's about what I got off the top of my head XD What's your take?

Can... Can we get some enemies to lovers headcanons for you and All Might?
Oh boy. So uh. Welcome to the MySpace Universe.
General personality headcanons:
Rian aka Warp Space is a young and spirited hero in a mission in Japan to try to take down The World's Number One Villain. He knew he was probably in over his head... And yeah he was right, but he wasn't a quitter.
All Might is that villain, and he's a rough and tumble bastard who was not expecting a cute little portal-maker to try to go one on one with him. It would have been insulting... If the younger man wasn't so fucking adorable.
Rian has a day job at a coffee shop to keep the lights on, since he's young and "expendable" and going largely unpaid for his troubles.
All Might tracks him down and starts visiting the coffee shop in disguise. He knows everything about Rian, thanks to his extensive network of allies.
Rian knows fuck-all about him, since the Villain wears a mask and uses a voice modulator.
All Might is absolutely fucking fascinated by this odd little American who seems to have nothing but pure hubris and adorable determination on his side.
Warp Space is convinced that he can win EVENTUALLY. He just has to come up with a plan. And get All Might to let him catch him by surprise.
That will not be happening, because the villain is having way too much fun.
Most of their "fights" end up being playful little spars and witty banter, where All Might takes the kid just seriously enough to make it look convincing on camera. Wouldn't want him to get fired and sent back, after all.
Relationship Headcanons:
All Might swears up and down he was joking at first. He was just pulling people's legs. He was just being teehee haha funny... But the fact remains that when he first asked the young barista out and took him to The Mighty Need Bar to parade him in front of the other villains... They got along really well. Too well.
Rian ended up getting a big crush on the nice older man with beautiful eyes and an oddly familiar way of speaking. It also helped that this man frequently left him $20 tips, and the young hero was too much of a gentleman to let that go without thanking him in some way... What harm could one date do?
The morning afterward when Rian and Toshinori both woke up slightly hungover in the older man's bed, with nothing but bed sheets covering them and no less than 3 used condoms in the vicinity, they both realized that sometimes a joke and an act of gratitude could both be taken a liiiiiittle too far.
But in for a penny in for a pounding, they started dating. Rian still didn't know the man's identity. Toshinori didn't plan on telling him.
But boy if those saucy rooftop confrontations didn't suddenly seem a little more flirtatious.
To the point where, more than once, the hero found himself pinned to a wall by very strong arms while All Might monologued to high heaven about shit like The Weather.
And...
Things took a turn one day when Rian was at the coffee shop the day after a """fight""', sporting a black eye that All Might very much did not give him.
"What happened, Kitten?!" "Nothing, I'm fine." "Don't give me that. Who did it?" "All Might." "Not that I don't think you're tough, but if one of that guy's punches had connected your head would have been blown clean off. Who. Did. It?" "Just... Just this guy that walks by sometimes when I'm on my way home. He saw me putting my wallet in my pocket. That's it." "I'm driving you home after work. You're grabbing some of your stuff, and then staying at my place for a while." "I... Are you sure?" "Very."
The dude was never seen again except on a Missing poster, and Rian's staying over went so well that they ended up moving in together... With Rian still not realizing who he was living and sleeping with.
Aaaand that's as far as this AU goes at the moment.

X - Xceptional - Who is the most exceptional person in their life? Are there any rules that they have notable exceptions to? What gets them excited in life?
Who is the most exceptional person in their life?
While the most obvious answer for this one would be her partner, I'm going to use this question to showcase a character who hasn't much in the way of obvious mention on this blog because the OC belongs to someone who hasn't had much availability for RP in quite some time: Toshinori Crane, who generally introduces himself as "Pennyworth." (Yes this is an old joke based on Ferthur masquerading as nobility, and Crane playing the part of her 'butler' while watching over her.)
Toshinori Crane was a loyal and lifetime friend of Ferthur's mother, as well as a fellow shinobi. When her mother had to send her away under the guise of Lady Omori Kaya in order to free her from the control of Fane lux Verinus (NPC), but her mother couldn't get herself free without making it obvious what she'd done and leaving a trail to follow, Crane took it upon himself to act as Ferthur's guardian. The xaela played the part of the estate's caretaker, taking care of everything from household chores and baking… to casually apprehending a pair of spies that attempted to insinuate themselves into her household and dropping them off a cliff. Since the death of her mother, Crane is now the closest thing she has to family, and the only one who's been there her entire life.
In Doma, he's known for answering the door in frilly pink maid attire for both his own amusement and to keep visitors off balance with the unexpected. Of course, this only adds to the rumors that Lady Omori Kaya herself is probably completely insane.
Are there any rules that they have notable exceptions to?
Ferthur? My chaos demon? …. Rules? She makes herself the exception to most of them, honestly.
Okay, but seriously, she actually does have several strict rules that her mother instilled in her. While her mother had their survival in mind when she stressed their importance to her daughter, and obviously meant well, they have also done significant harm. Surviving is not the same as living, after all. But, I digress...
One of these rules is to avoid committing murder whenever possible. When you leave a trail of bodies, you're also leaving behind several other things: evidence, a reason to come after you, and the grief of those who cared for the recently deceased. All of those things make disappearing like smoke in the breeze more difficult, and increase the likelihood that someone is going to decide you're their nemesis and make it their life's mission to track you down for vengeance.
That being said, she has killed people. But the thing with that is, if you need to kill someone, you have to kill everyone. It's not a crime if there's no one left to press charges, right? When Fane lux Verinus found her again, not because he was looking for her, but in a cruel twist of fate because he was actually looking for the real Omori Kaya, and everything went to shit, well… she didn't just kill him, she also killed the dozen or so traitorous shinobi working for him. Not all at once, mind you. She meticulously isolated and hunted them down one by one over the course of a month.
She also killed an uncounted number of very-far-gone tempered Garleans as she made her way through the country trying to get her mother back, but, well, that was different.
What gets them excited in life?
Well, she's a bit of an adrenaline junky, so there's that. Have a list!
Speed: The obvious one. This is why she loves her Fenrir and why she's trying to get her hands on a Gabriel. VROOM.
Dancing: She will go toward music like a moth to a flame and lose herself in it until she falls over from exhaustion.
Physical Touch: yeaaaah, I don't think I need to explain this one.
Challenge: Tell her she can't do something? Damn right she's gonna do that shit. She doesn't steal things to survive, she does it for fun, and to see if she can pull it off. This one escalates entirely out of control between Ferthur and Eligos since neither of them will back down from a challenge, so when they challenge each other, well… there will absolutely be a significant amount of collateral damage.
Wow these things get long when there are multiple questions. Thank you for the Ask!

told you i was posting this au soon. this is the note titled "main headcanons" basically what I changed about the story. my oc is yurei, she, katsuki, and izuku are triplets and mama inko adopted Shiggy, and well just read it. also here's one of the many drawings I did for this au from left to right is Katsuki, Yurei, and Izuku
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Midoriya Yurei
• Also born "Quirkless"
• Drowned while on vacation
• Quirk activated, resurrecting her
• Quirk - Ghost - she can float, go through walls, affect electronics and temperature, basically generic haunting stuff
• Do Not Erase Her Quirk She Will Die
• She can no longer be killed any other way, she'll just pop back up immediately, slightly beat up and very annoyed. She doesn't even get knocked out (but if its a great force she'll be knocked over because there are still a couple laws of physics she obeys), she just keeps going with a quickly healing wound like a very intelligent zombie. She uses this to save people, pushing them out of the way and taking the shot herself knowing she'll bounce back. The healing time varies between a couple seconds up to 15 minutes depending on the damage, as her body has to heal the "fatal" wound
• She also has really fast heal times, and rarely scars (because it's not actually healing, per se, it's more of a reset or regeneration)
• Loves plants, but her Quirk drains/wilts them, so she decorates with those aesthetic vine things
• She is an absolute cryptid. She goes to get a midnight snack, and the way her eyes glow and her poor posture makes Toshinori swear the next morning that he saw mothman or something
• Scary smart but only has one (1) braincell
• Her name means "ghost" horikoshi would be so proud 🥲
• Makes constant death jokes. Sometimes izuku joins in. Katsuki joins in a lot, and sometimes even starts it. Yurei and Tenko can bounce death jokes back and forth for HOURS
• Scared of large bodies of water, even swimming pools. Because feeling water fill your lungs and stop your heart at the ripe old age of twelve causes ✨️trauma✨️
• She has a tumblr. Her url is "schrodingers_hoarding_problem" (fun inside joke, the whole dead-and-alive thing), and she's unknowingly mutuals with Denki (Denki surprisingly puts two and two together and figures out who she is, sparking an amazing friendship)
• Yurei loves sitting on the roof, just. Chilling. On the roof.
• She semi-possesses Denki during his tests and helps him out. It takes a couple weeks before her brothers realise that the "soft, gentle voice in [denki's] head that's smarter than [him] and helps with [his] schoolwork" is actually their ghost sister trying to help
• She is very rarely in class, but she finishes her projects and gets good grades so her teachers chalk it up to "you can't contain a ghost" and "is she actually a student or is she just haunting the school?"
• Seriously touch starved. She would curl up with a statue if left alone too long, and heaven help you if you leave without giving her a hug.
• The triplets all have separation anxiety with each other, but Yurei has it with everyone she cares about. The thought that the last time she saw her loved ones was the LAST time she would see them is constantly in the back of her mind. Which is reasonable, seeing as she has died like three times already so knows lethal situations are much more common than most people are comfortable thinking about
• She also just phases through the floor instead of using the stairs (the Midoriyas live in a cute little house instead of the canon apartment because bigger family)
• Lesbian ace, Yurei x Toga Himiko
• Yurei "at least you guys were NORMAL and fell for your classmates. That would've been so much easier for me. But noOo, I had to be gay for the GIRL WHO TRIED TO KILL ME."
• To be fair, Toga only tried to stab Yurei once, when they first met (she may not be a villain anymore but she still sometimes feels ✨️stabby✨️). And Yurei was intangible, so not even a scratch. Since then, they've been cutesy and dating like any other lesbian couple. Yurei even gifted Toga a hello kitty knife, because "it's cute and dangerous, just like you."
Midoriya Katsuki -
• Katsuki in this au is almost ooc-nice. Soft boi hours, but still a little chaotic and aggressive. Snarky little brat who is kind when he needs to be. He's a lot less of a bully - being especially better towards Izuku - with his aggression mostly protective as he was the only triplet with a Quirk (that is, until yurei fricking died when she was 12 and got her quirk, and then izuku inherited ofa at 15).
• Is fully capable of going feral, and not only to protect but also when he feels like people are "letting him win", which drives him up the wall (see the sports festival incident)
• He also never made fun of his siblings being Quirkless, and his only "problem" with it was "well, crap, they can't defend themselves, so I gotta beat up all these OTHER kids"
• Katsuki is the third (technically first because hes the oldest) triplet and is now Midoriya Katsuki because I don't like his mom. So that probably contributed to his attitude adjustment, being taken care of by Mama Inko instead of Bakugou Mitsuki
• Also deaf!bakugou au because I love the idea of his Quirk making him go deaf and the idea of the triplets just using sign language and annoying/confusing everyone else. Plus the idea of him just. Turning off his hearing aides when people annoy him. *chef's kiss* perfection
• Also Katsuki has freckles because I can't change his eye or hair colour and I need SOMETHING to tie him to the other two
• Like canon, he loves cooking and is great at it. He's Gordon Ramsey in every way - goes feral when people are incompetent and in his way, but genuinely kind and nurturing when they actually want to help and learn. He has in fact called someone an Idiot Sandwich, and that someone may or may not have been Izuku.
• Gay demi, PopRocks
• Only cuddly on his terms. Hug him when he doesn't want to be hugged, and God help you because no one else will
Midoriya Izuku -
• Izuku still inherits One For All
• Probably bi? Tododeku
• Probably had a version of his mom's Quirk originally, but his dad forgot to turn off his Quirk stealing bs while holding Baby Izuku, said he'd "fix that later", and never did. That's why Izuku was Quirkless
• Secretly a cuddlebug. Cuddles with his siblings, his mom, his friends... Todoroki.
• Not as much of an All Might fanboy as canon. It would be like your mom marrying Boulevard cucumberpatch and your room is wallpapered with Sherlock posters.
• Need more Izuku headcanons, but I didn't change much about him that didn't involve the other two. I made up Yurei, and changed Katsuki almost completely, but Izuku? Perfectly fine the way he is
All Three
• Katsuki is the oldest by 10 minutes between him and Yurei, so hes 25 minutes older than izuku; Yurei is the middle, because she just gives me middle child energy for some reason; Izuku is the youngest by 15 minutes between him and Yurei, because he's baby.
• Katsuki "how did I go from being the only sibling with a Quirk to being the sibling with the least op Quirk?"
Yurei "I died lol."
Izuku "Dad stole mine and Toshinori gave me his, so..."
• They are musically talented. All three can sing. Yurei can play the piano/keyboard, but she recently discovered arcade buttons and prefers those. She likes editing on the computer, and has a YouTube channel for her music. Katsuki can play the drums (canon), because its the only instrument he can reliably hear (headcanon). Izuku feels like an acoustic guitar guy to me, or maybe ukulele.
• All three kids have AFO saved as "rat b*****d" in their phones. Izuku has All Might as "Toshinori" (because he's boring like that lol), Yurei has him as "DadMight", and Katsuki has him as "Mother F***er" (listen - I don't cuss, but my characters sure do. Also All Might approved of all contact names, so...)
• All three triplets are avid gamers
• Katsuki and Izuku sing "Hey There Delilah" when Yurei is having a "poltergeist episode" because they found out the soft cadence calms her down almost instantaneously
• Yurei is in the support course, Izuku and Katsuki in 1A (Yurei's all "I'd rather build stuff than fight bad guys. Besides, they couldn't handle all three Midoriyas in one class!" but shes secretly upset that theyre separated)
• Yurei's muttering and note-taking is just as bad as Izuku's, if not worse. But hers is about stuff she could build and how, instead of hero analysis. Katsuki "talks" to himself in sign language [a lot of Deaf do that, so do CODAs]
• Their favourite running joke is pointing at random crap and saying "that you" [can confirm I do this with my sister all the time]
• Another favourite joke is walking around screaming "WHAT DOING?!" at the top of their lungs at each other like those parrot videos. Usually when one of them is playing/texting on their phone or looking for something
• AFO "Do any of my children like girls?!"
Yurei "..."
AFO "Yurei, put your hand down."
• They each have a kitten from the same litter. Yurei has a little white kitten named Phantom, Izuku has a little yellow kitten named Small Might, and Katsuki has a little orange and black kitten named Lord Explosion Murder (gotta keep it canon lol)
• Yurei and Izuku call Katsuki's cat "Lem". They refuse to call the cute little kitten Lord Explosion Murder
• They helped each other train their Quirks. Izuku and Yurei helped Katsuki understand and aim his explosions. The boys helped Yurei feel safe to float, disappear, and phase through stuff; and help her calm down during what they call poltergeist episodes. Yurei and Katsuki helped Izuku learn his "microwave dial" tricks. Each of their Quirks are stronger than in canon because they didn't have to go through the discovery phase alone.
• They have severe separation anxiety, barely tolerating being in different classes. When they get into the dorms, almost every night Izu and Yurei sneak into Katsuki's dorm and they cuddle pile because it's too much to handle being apart all day AND all night.
Nicknaming
• Izuku uses proper names and honorifics until he's comfortable, and then out come the pet names. Always cute and endearing, from shortened version of their name to something that reminds him of them. The more he loves the person, the more pet names they get.
• Uraraka is "Chako", and a couple others
• Todoroki has so many, Izuku rarely calls him the same name twice. "Sho", "Todo", "Roki", "candy cane", "todoroni", "sweetheart", "my love", the list goes on and on and on and on-
• One time, when he was really tired, Iida told him something and he responded "Ok dad" and has yet to live it down.
• There's a running joke in the family that Izuku can't pronounce "Katsuki". He can, and does when he's mad. Katsuki knows to run when he hears "Midoriya Katsuki."
• Katsuki still does the nicknaming, but more playful instead of mean-spirited.
• Still calls Todo "IcyHot" and Denki "Pikachu", and his friends are "[his] idiots"
• Doesn't call Denki "dunce face", nor Kiri "sh***y hair".
• He called Kirishima "Kiri" until they officially asked each other out, and then it was "Ei".
• Once, while running on little sleep, he messed up and called him "Kirisunshine". • Like when Izu called Iida "dad", Kat has yet to live that one down. Kiri didn't either, because he dissolved into a blushy mess.
• Yurei compounds normal words with people's names depending on the situation or topic of conversation; she's very inconsistent with her nicknaming.
• She only uses "real names" with people she views in authority or people she's uncomfortable with (as someone with social anxiety, there are those certain people you stay rigidly formal with because they make you anxious or uncomfortable or you just plain can't get a read on them)
• The most consistent nickname in her rolodex is calling Katsuki "Kit Kat", which she has basically since they could talk
• She has called Todoroki "TodoRoni", "ConspiraRoki", "TraumaRoki", and a bunch of others.
• Himiko calls Yurei "Boo", and Yurei calls Himiko "Sky Puppy" (because vampire equals bats, and bats are cute little sky puppies)
• Izuku still calls Katsuki "kacchan", and Yurei calls him kit kat. Haven't decided yet if Katsuki still calls izuku "deku" because, like, that's such a Sibling thing to do. But also it's a bit meaner than I want him to be. Maybe just like "brat child" or something. Yurei calls izuku "broccoli" and he retaliates by calling her "cauliflower".
Parents
• Dad For One au/StepDad Might au (because I'm evil and love the idea of "lol even mom left you for all might")
• All Might takes the Midoriya name, because "they didn't marry into [his] family, [he] married into theirs", so he's Midoriya Toshinori
• We stan a chubby Mama Inko in this house
• Somehow, Toshinori has his "skeleton form" without the injury because that fight didn't happen in this au. Because I like the skeleton form, its non-threatening and he needs an inconspicuous form for being out and about with the Midoriyas.
• AFO is a sucky dad, and the triplets hate him with the same passion that Shoto hates Endeavor, BUT the lov is still a found family and they have game nights and everyone (except Enji) knows that Dabi is Touya
• Adopted!Shiggy and Good!LOV au. The lov is actually more of a home for runaways, taking in all those "villains" but rehabilitating them and giving them the family they needed. Instead of "League Of Villains", the acronym stands for "League Of Vagabonds". Some even go on to be heroes, but most are "normal citizens" and work in grocery stores and cafés and stuff.
• Touya is still dabi and still runs away from Endeavor, but his siblings know where he is. Toga obviously finds them and starts dating Yurei (prob in the support course with her gf). Shiggy stays with Mama Inko and the triplets in the divorce, and goes to UA (probably either already graduated or a third year, I don't know his age). Oboro is just healed and NOT turned into Kurogiri (even though I love Mamagiri, he and erasermic could prob do without the trauma). Oboro would probably be a fun uncle to Aizawa's and Mic's kids, because yes erasermic officially adopted shinsou and eri as well as like 5 cats.

Bnha au idea where they have to actually write down who they would prefer to partner with should a "fuck or die" quirk incident happen, before resorting to professional intervention. Because look, quirks are already so fucking weird, and being a hero puts you in the path for some ridiculous shit. Redundant and hopefully unnecessary paperwork defining hypothetical situations like that makes SENSE!
(There's the random person with nurse training who has gone through extra training/psychological evaluations to be certified for medically necessary sex if the person doesn't have anyone on their list/no-one on their list agreed)
This would also be a situation where the quirk is more just "unreasonably boosting existing libido" so ace people can't be affected (or kids, cause no. But that DOES need to be clarified I think)
Anyways it kinda comes back to my enjoyment of the mutual pining where they aren't ever going to do anything unless actually pushed into it, but wanting actual consent to be a thing that happens.
Would be a fun AiDeku idea, just one of the two of them getting affecting by a fuck or die quirk and the reveal that they are the others first choice for a partner. Would be very fun if it was like, pro-hero Deku who got hit with it and the nursing staff is just like "who the FUCK is this Aizawa person?!?" And then Aizawa shows up a whole-ass exhausted hobo man who's a fucking mess and they are like "This is him? THIS!!! Deku get some STANDARDS PLEASE!!!"
Not gonna lie, I read the very first sentence of this and my mind immediately went AiDeku AU so it's nice to see we're on the same general wavelength. SO here we go again!:
The Emergency Intimacy Contact (EIC for short) has been a long-standing tradition in heroics. It was drafted into the official paperwork required by all heroes regardless of public standing since the villain Cupid had rained quirk-enhanced arrows down on the heroes of Tokyo a couple decades before.
(The fall out had seen the entire Heroes Wing of Tokyo General turned into what was, essentially, a giant orgy that had resulted in several divorces, the formation of a number of new couples and throuples, a handful of shotgun weddings, and the birth of two sets of very very spoiled twins the following year.)
Making sure one has their EIC filled out is a serious and important part of setting their affairs in order when embarking on such a dangerous career as professional heroics.
Which means, of course, that barely anyone takes it seriously these days.
Spouses and partners are, of course, commonly jotted down for heroes who are in committed relationships with no interest in straying. Others write down close and trusted friends.
But there's a rather large portion of modern heroes who use their EIC as a sort of "fantasy bid" or even as their "one exception" with a more serious aka realistic EIC written down as a backup.
And since consent has to be had from both parties whenever an EIC is enacted no one really bothers to police who is and isn't put down.
"Take it seriously," Toshinori had always warned Izuku. "If you don't choose wisely and you ever need it ,,, friendships have been ruined over less."
There's a wealth of things there that Toshinori had never fully explained but Izuku had been able to put the pieces together easily enough. All Might and Sir Nighteye's fall out had been rather famous after all and had actually started the year before Toshinori had been so grievously injured.
Izuku had debated over who to put down as his EIC when he'd first had to fill them out. At the time, freshly debuted as a pro and still pretty much alone, he'd had no real options no matter how unappealing the alternatives, sedation and/or a trained professional stepping in if necessary, had seemed.
But now, years later and with the form renewals having come around for the year, a part of him is thrilled that he might actually have choices these days.
It really is a wonder, the things that friends can come in handy for.
Getting arrested with Hitoshi that one time and then meeting and being rather forcefully adopted by the majority of his UA class really was one of the better things to ever happen to Izuku.
But still, choosing which of his friends to ask something like this from has been proving to be almost equally as difficult.
"Come on Zu," Hitoshi huffs from his places sprawled out on the floor, "it's not that difficult."
"Is too," Izuku refuses to admit he might whine just a bit.
"It's really not," Ochako chimes in from where she's nestled between Tenya and Tsu.
"People with two partners don't get to speak," Denki chimes in then.
"~Jeal~ous~," Ochako practically sings, expression smug.
"Just do what the rest of us single people are doing," Denki waves Ochako off with a rude hand gesture. "Put down whoever you think is the hottest hero you wouldn't mind getting hot and heavy with. I, for example, have put down our very own Enigma."
"Sucks to be you," Hitoshi pipes up then, "cause I put down Hawks."
"I'm at least your second choice right?" Denki practically pleads.
"Zu's my second choice," Hitoshi immediately shoots him down.
"Hitoshi!" Izuku sputters just a bit.
"Zu, broccoli boy, the sunshine of my dark life," Hitoshi rolls his head enough to look up at him, "if you're not the first or second choice of at least half the people in this room alone I'll eat my capture scarf."
There's suddenly a lot of people very pointedly not looking in Izuku's direction.
Izuku can't help but wish he'd taken an extra patrol like Shouto did if only to have escaped this conversation before it ever happened.
"Seriously though," Hitoshi continues. "Just pick. Pick a friend or, like Denki said, pick someone unrealistic but hot that you wouldn't mind getting railed by."
Teeth chewing at his bottom lip, Izuku bobs his head in acknowledgment and turns his attention back towards his paperwork.
In the end he ends up filling the three blanks that have been provided out backward. His third spot is taken by Shouto and his second by Hitoshi.
They're two of his closest friends these days and neither of them is in a relationship like Tenya, Ochako, and Tsu are. No matter how hard Denki keeps trying to change that where Hitoshi is concerned.
But when it comes to that number one spot ,,,
Well Izuku suddenly can't get Denki and Hitoshi's suggestion out of his head.
Someone hot. Someone sexy but generally unrealistic.
A fantasy pick.
When Izuku thinks about getting absolutely railed as Hitoshi put it, there's really only one name that comes to mind.
Izuku only hesitates for a few more seconds before he finally breaks and fills in the final blank.
Hopefully the occasion will never come where Izuku has to explain to his entire friend group that his fantasy pick is the infamous Demon-sensei that still haunts the majority of their nightmares.
Besides, it's not like the Eraserhead would ever actually agree to help him out if Izuku did have to call in his EIC.
Six months later and Izuku will look back on this moment and cringe.

pregnancy
Small headcanons of how Aizawa, Toshinori, Hizashi, Fatgum, Gang Orca, and Hound Dog would be through your pregnancy.
I don’t write about giving birth (as I’m mildly terrified of doing so) so I didn’t add anything about that. Please don’t ask for me to. And even though I’m not interested in getting pregnant, I think I’d be okay with it if Kugo or Ryo were the father.
EDIT: I love picturing all of these men with little girls. It’s just so cute!
Warnings: uh, pregnancy
Tumblr media
Aizawa Shouta
Shouta isn’t one to jump for joy when you tell him. However, you will get to see his handsome smile when he grabs your waist, breathing out a light laugh of happiness as he tightly hugs you. His smile won’t disappear for a while. Every time he glances at you, one simply finds its way onto his face.
It may not be by a whole lot, but his behavior changes. Just a little. When you’re out and about, his hand finds its way to your back or elbow much more often, particularly in a crowd. It’s the paternal instincts kicking in. His favorite cuddling position, laying between your legs with his head on your stomach, becomes harder the farther along you are. He adjusts to laying behind you, keeping a hand on your tummy throughout the entire night.
Shouta hides his worries well. Even the people closest to him have a tough time telling what exactly is going on with him. Sometimes, it’s a good thing. He’s a stable person to lean on. But it’s difficult to deal with when you’re hormonal and emotional. He pushes himself so hard to speak more. There’s no way of him understanding everything you’re going through, but when he opens up, he can tell just how much you appreciate it during the tough times. So he does it near-daily, checking in with each other before bed.
He hates how busy his life is. Well, he’s always kind of hated it. Now it’s worse because his partner’s pregnant, and he’s stuck in a room with screaming children when he should be bringing you to your appointments. Shouta attempts to make up for the absence by heading home every night and helping around the house more. Step in. Explain how you value his help, but also need him to relax. If he gets overworked, that would only stress you more.
Shouta changes his eating habits and fitness routines. He wants you to eat well for yourself and your child. He wants you to keep exercising for yourself and your child. He simply wants your body to be healthy. Don’t grumble because he’ll throw your complaining back in your face when the Lamaze coach explains how important physical health is. But don’t worry, his cute smile makes up for the teasing.
Tumblr media
Yagi Toshinori
Toshinori is starstruck. Too many thoughts flood and fight. He loves children and has always wanted a family. Being able to father one with you is indescribable. And he never thought the universe would grant any of that. On the flip side, his fear is also undefinable. People know who he is now; who knows what’s out there, waiting to expose All Might’s weakness. The rapid thoughts may bring a tear or two. Cup his face and kiss them away, reassuring him that everything’s okay.
The fears follow him throughout your pregnancy. Like all things (with you and him), there are good days and bad days. His emotions ramp-up during your emotional and physically unwell days. He tries his best to push them down to focus on you. But they eventually end up spilling over. It’ll be common for both of you to cry at the end of the day, snuggled together, talking about the future, worries, and anticipations.
In general, Toshinori isn’t that protective. He trusts you and your abilities. Just because you’re pregnant, doesn’t mean you’re suddenly disabled. You can still do things. Although, he does become a bit of a helicopter. Whenever you bend over to pick up a bag, he beats you to it. He swoops the laundry basket from your hands, claiming, ‘You shouldn’t be lifting heavy things,’ despite it not even being ten pounds. He’s just very watchful of your movements.
He’s very active in dieting, doctor’s appointments, and planning. He eats well, so it’s easy for him to aid you in that respect. For doctors, he has quite a lot of contacts and knows many doctors from his time in the hospital. He asks around, only accepting the best for you. Planning, shopping, and setting up the nursery are his favorite parts. He loves choosing the sweetest colors, softest blankets, and, of course, all the adorable All Might onesies, toys, and superhero books he can find. The nursery is set up perfectly.
Toshinori doesn’t admit how incredibly your pregnant body enchants him. It isn’t always a horny, sexual need. It’s about admiring your body and what it’s creating. He just wonders at you. All the time. Sometimes the changes may make you feel insecure. He’s always there to listen and assure you how amazing your body is. If you want cuddles and kisses, he’ll give them with a smile. If you want gentle lovemaking, he guides you onto your back and gives you exactly what you want.
Tumblr media
Yamada Hizashi
Expect a loud song of love, a bear hug, and jumping for joy when you tell him. Hizashi loves kids. He thinks they’re amazing and say some of the greatest things. And he’s beyond excited to see their quirk. Of course, it doesn’t mean he’ll love them any less if they’re born quirkless. He just loves imagining a little one with a similar quirk running around your place.
He is all about redecorating and planning. The entire apartment is getting babyfied and rearranged. The nursery will be beautifully painted. He regularly comes home with cute outfits and stuffed animals. Partly, it’s because he’s just so excited. The other part is he wants you to relax through the pregnancy. No stress, pressure, and unnecessary burden on your shoulders. He’s there to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible.
Hizashi doesn’t just spoil your unborn child; he spoils you, buying you those pregnancy pillows, your favorite ice cream, driving you everywhere, etc… He just hates how much time his jobs take. He’d rather spend his time with you. To help, he’ll ask for time off of patrols, choosing to be closer with you, physically, mentally, and emotionally, during your pregnancy.
In the later months, Hizashi is all over you. Seriously, he will not leave you alone. He’s very handsy, kneading and licking your swollen, sore breasts, and stroking your belly. Your body, and everything it’s doing, is utterly gorgeous to him. He’ll suck away, gently nursing on your nipple while dozing off to Tv, occasionally switching to the other so it isn’t left needy.
Tumblr media
Toyomitsu Taishiro
When you tell Taishiro, you’ll only be able to get out a few words before you’re lifted off your feet and spun around. He smooches all over your face, laughing and cheering about how amazing and perfect and stunning you are. You’ll have to ask to be put down lest you get sick from all his spinning. But his compliments keep coming. They won’t dwindle for a while. There’s just too much love in his body to keep inside.
Whatever you’re craving, no matter if it’s pineapple dipped in ketchup, he gives without complaint. He may try some of your odd combinations. Who knows? You could be on to something new. At the same time, he also watches out for your health. The cravings suck. He understands that. He truly does. But if you ate something sweet/not as healthy for lunch, then he plans a healthy dinner for you. Your body’s going crazy. It needs its nutrients.
Your worries are always taken seriously. It could be the most absurd thing to be anxious over. Tai always listens. His cute smile and never-ending positivity help a ton. Your body and brain are going through a lot. He’ll do his part to validate all your feelings. He talks down the anxieties as you eat pickles on ice cream, making sure you are and feel heard.
Since he works one job compared to the others, he’s able to be with you much more, notably during the hard-to-handle days and at appointments. And he picks up extra chores so you can rest through aches and pains. Any choices you make regarding your pregnancy and birth, he supports. He may not agree with everything, but he loves you, and it’s your body. He’ll always put your comfort and wishes first.
Tai treasured your tummy before. But now, seeing you growing with his child, he’s absolutely enraptured. He places nightly and morning kisses on your belly. When he wakes you up, his kisses trail down to the bump. Every night, he rubs lotion into your tummy, kissing and cooing to his child. It doesn’t matter if you’re only one week pregnant, and it’s just a clump of cells in there. Tai still sings to them.
Tumblr media
Gang Orca
Kugo is in disbelief when you tell him. He freezes, staring, hardly hearing your words. Give him five minutes. He’ll process what you said and snap back to the present. Watch out because you’re going to get lifted high into the air and maybe tossed like a father does a baby. He’s just practicing. It’ll only take one or two days for him to slip into paternal mode. It’s damn near instinct for him.
As per usual, he’s a gentle paragon behind closed doors. Throughout your pregnancy, he melts into a puddle of sweet honey. His overall affection skyrockets. His hands and claws are as tender as possible whenever they touch you, doing whatever you need him to: massaging your back and legs, rubbing lotion all over, or brushing your hair. He reassures you through tears. He prepares healthy meals that satisfy your cravings. And he holds you all night, keeping you safe on his chest and in his arms.
Kugo goes to every single checkup and appointment. It doesn’t matter if it’s just an ordinary visit to your primary care doctor; he calls out of work and goes with you. At any ultrasounds, expect a few tears, especially when you hear the heartbeat for the first time. He holds them in until you’re alone. The second the door closes, his forehead is nudging yours as small, loved-filled tears fall. He never thought he’d get a family. Part of him thought he didn’t deserve a family, but you’ve proven that false repeatedly.
The farther along you are, the more he watches out for you. He checks in every morning to make sure you took your medicine and vitamins. He washes you so you don’t strain yourself. If you’re waddling, he offers his arm for support and helps you stand. If your back hurts, he applies a heating patch to your lower back and puts your shoes on for you. If you need it, he can carry you to the car and into where you’re going.
As does everyone, Kugo has doubts about his quirk and abilities. People have always viewed those with mutations differently. And it can affect their health, leading to numerous doctor visits and tests. He doesn’t want his baby to deal with the staring, whispers, self-doubts, and distress he did. To support him, talk in detail about his fears and help him realize he’s never disappointed you or hurt anyone. Kugo’s exactly how he should be.
Tumblr media
Hound Dog
Ryo doesn’t have a tail, but you’ll definitely see a little happy wiggly before he hugs you. The following week, he keeps you close as he acts differently: rubbing up against you to ensure you smell like him, touching your nose with his, lapping along your neck, sleeping incredibly close, and occasionally smelling between your legs, licking the air around there to smell better. It’s awkward, almost weird, since it isn’t average ‘human’ behavior. But if you love him, let him do it. Please. Understand his nose works differently. It reassures and comforts him to smell you, checking in to see if anything’s changed.
Ryo gets protective when you’re on your period: When you’re pregnant, it’s so, so incredibly worse. He hovers, grumbling low at those walking by. Others barely hear it. It’s intense enough for you to feel it when he’s behind you. He doesn’t like people running up to you, or startling you, or roughhousing or playing in any way. He’s lenient with children, less with teens. Women get a deep growl and scowl. God help any man that approaches you. You might have to have him wear his Hero outfit’s muzzle until you give birth. Though, that might not help because then he’d be protective of two people.
It’s only the teensiest amount better at home. He makes you rest, almost too much. After work or some time outside, he shuffles you to the couch so you can’t overwork yourself. He’s a pleasant change of pace from his typical gruff self. However, as great as he is at the physical needs, he still struggles with the emotional aspects. You can cry on his shoulder, complain, and talk about your worries all you need to. He’s just a bit clunky when it comes to reciprocating the soft emotions. But he puts all his heart into it, and it’s easy to tell.
Ryo is also one who loves pregnancy sexy. You’re swollen and sensitive, and he loves watching your breasts bounce, maybe even leak a little depending on how far along you are. And since you’re already pregnant, he releases and stays inside. After, he lays behind you, keeping himself deep in you despite being flaccid, just feeling how wet and aroused and full you are because of him. When the heated moment is finally done, he licks you clean, nearly getting drunk off your smell.

Omega!BNHA boys - easiest to hardest labours
Anon: who has the easiest or the most difficult time giving birth for the BNHA boys?
and
Anon:  Which BNHA boys had the easiest/hardest births?
(Okay, the people have asked and so I have delivered. I do think that Dabi, Shouto and Aizawa probably wouldn’t have any pups, but I also don’t think they’re so against getting pregnant as someone like Kakashi. Therefore, while I will never write pregnant Kakashi, I’m happy to write pregnant Dabi, Shouto and Aizawa. I picked the characters to include based on who I had ideas for. Enjoy~)
Warnings: Fairly graphic labour depictions (Nothing crazy but some specific stuff), blood mentions, mentions of epidurals, mentions of near death experiences.
Tumblr media
1.    Hitoshi Shinsou – He has difficulties whilst pregnant, but as far as the actual labour goes, Shinsou has the easiest time ever. Even his first pregnancy was super easy, and with every consecutive pregnancy (Shinsou has four pregnancies and five children in total) it just gets faster and simpler. None of his labours last more than five hours. He’s the poster boy for ‘Doctors and other omegas hate him’.
2.    Izuku Midoriya – Firstly, this boy has the most insane pain tolerance ever, so that certainly helps him during labour. Basically, the whole thing is simple for him. He has you and his mother with him for support, and everything goes completely as planned. It’s not easy, but it’s certainly easier than most omegas find it.
3.    Katsuki Bakugou– His is much the same as Izuku’s. Simple and easier than most omegas find it. He’s only slightly lower down because his pain tolerance isn’t quite as high, and Katsuki had twins which made it slightly more complicated. However, he made sure that everyone else’s experience was as hard as possible. The doctors and midwives will certainly remember Bakugou, let’s just say that.
4.    Eijrio Kirishima – His labour is very normal and average. He definitely decides to go for a natural birth, because he’s definitely man enough to handle it without pain medication. Spolier alert, he caves and gets an epidural. That definitely makes the first part of the labour more difficult. He handles the whole thing very well though, but he’s got a strong grip so his alpha’s hand may be a little sore.
5.    Denki Kaminari – Denki’s labour is also normal, but his pup is very large and Denki tears pretty badly. Kaminari can’t walk very well when he leaves the hospital and has to use a wheelchair for a little while. He’s very adorable though, because he invites all his friends over and lets them into the hospital room one by one, as long as the doctors are cool with it. He tries to keep up a cheerful attitude the whole time, and he gets very, very loud while he’s pushing. He also definitely gives his alpha some nasty electric shocks if they don’t wear some heavy-duty rubber gloves. Kaminari can’t walk very well when he leaves the hospital and has to use a wheelchair for a little while.
6.    Fumikage Tokoyami – His labour is exhausting, in every sense of the word. It’s lasts 24 hours in total, and he gives birth to triplets. Three babies and an entire day of labour. No wonder he’s exhausted. By the end, he’s constantly saying that he can’t do it anymore, and when the labour is finished, he’s only awake long enough to glance at his babies before collapsing. It’s tough for him.
7.    Dabi – This is where things start to shift into more difficult labours. His labour is also in the normal range, but he doesn’t have access to medicine in the same way as the people above him on the list. He has to deal with it with only his alpha and a sketchy medic who could probably stitch him up but had never delivered a pup before. He doesn’t get proper post-natal care, so it takes him a while to recover, but ultimately, he’s okay. Honestly, everyone else in the room is in just as much danger as him because he really loses control of his fire. If his alpha doesn’t have a quirk that can counter him, they might have to leave the room at certain points.
8.    Shouto Todoroki – He has to have a c-section because his hips aren’t wide enough because of the suppressant abuse he endured during puberty. Shouto is pretty terrified of being drugged with pain meds because it freaks him out to be so vulnerable around so many people. His alpha needs to make sure he can see them at all times while he’s having his operation because he needs to be kept calm. Shouto needs quite a bit of time to recover too, because his job is so physically demanding that he can’t return until he’s fully healed. He’s not very happy about that.
9.    Shouta Aizawa – Shouta has a really tough time in labour, particularly after his pup is already out. He haemorrhages badly. His alpha actually gets shoved into the corner of the room with how many doctors flood to the room to treat Shouta. It’s definitely very nerve-wracking for a few hours, but Shouta is okay in the end. Very tired, but okay. It’s a huge relief, although you definitely have to constantly stop Shouta from overworking himself while he’s still recovering.
10.   Toshinori Yagi - His labour is very high risk from the get go. He has a significant injury, he’s very underweight and he’s in his late forties. It was just red flag after red flag, but he was desperate for a family now that he had finally retired and he wouldn’t stop until he had achieved his dream. So, he gives birth at a private hospital with a whole army of doctors to help him. His blood pressure sky rockets, and he has issues with blood loss. The pup is thankfully very healthy, if a little underweight, but Toshi is in a bad state. He’s pretty distressed through the whole thing, and relies on his alpha to calm him down and support him as much as they can. It takes him a long time to recover, but he treats the recovery seriously now that he’s retired and it goes well.
11.  Tomura Shigaraki – If he had better medical attention, he wouldn’t be right at the bottom of this list. His labour is complicated. His pup is in breech and gets tangled in the umbilical cord, which is not immediately clear because he couldn’t go to a hospital. He managed to kidnap a doctor after he found out that he was pregnant, offering to let him go once he delivered the baby, but the doctor was still lacking enough equipment to properly help him. He had to go the hospital in the end, covering his face and hiding his identity, relying heavily on his alpha to get him there and protect his identity. He was in such a dire condition that the doctors treated him first and asked questions later, the second he was awake and vaguely stable, you both grabbed your pup and broke out of the hospital. It was a disaster and both Tomura and his pup almost died multiple times.

Come Back to Me - All Might x Reader - Part 1 (18+)
Summary: A year after All Might tears your heart to pieces, the meager progress you've made toward moving on threatens to come crumbling down when your boss puts you in charge of covering the UA Sports Festival. While it's an event you'd normally be thrilled, even honored, to attend, there's no denying your sense of unease at the fact that the one man you've spent a year trying to avoid will be right there smack dab in the center of it all. To ensure the safety of your still fragile heart, you make a simple plan with only one objective: avoid All Might at all costs. Absolutely nothing can go wrong, right?
Warnings: Angst, Insecurities (mostly All Might’s), Hurt/comfort, Heartache, Breakups, Reunions, Forgiveness, Happy Ending

A/N - This is part 1 of 2 for this fic. Part 2 should be up here sometime tomorrow, but it’s already completed on AO3. So, if you really like this, you can check out what happens next over there! Also, this part is SFW but the next will be very much NSFW, which is why I’ve marked this as 18+.  EDIT: Part 2 is up!
Part 2
Tumblr media
“You could’ve been seriously injured.” Toshinori said, a pained, solemn look in his eyes.
“Yes, but that doesn’t matter,” You said, leaning up to lay a hand on his shoulder. Giving him a small smile, you continued, “What matters is that you were there to save me.”
“But it does matter.” He protested, “What if I hadn’t been able to transform? What if I had already used up my time today? You could have died!” He threw his hands up in a combination of worry and frustration.
“You can’t live life dwelling on what ifs, Toshi.” you said, trying to get him to understand, “And anyways, I have you, so there’s no need to worry. You’ll always save me. I know you will.”
“But that’s the problem. I won’t always be here.” He said, a shot of bitterness lacing his tone.
“Everyday, my time limit grows shorter and shorter. Soon there won’t be an All Might. And once he’s gone, I won’t be able to protect you anymore. What if I’m not able to save you next time?” He said, eyes growing glassy and full of sorrow at just the thought.
At his words, your mouth grew dry as you realized you could offer nothing but silence. For his words were true. How were you supposed to comfort him, knowing that his concerns were a very real possibility?
“Being around me puts you in danger.” He continued, “I-I think we should stop seeing each other.”
The words were out of his mouth before he even had a chance to realize what he was really saying. A brief moment of regret passed over his face as he processed them, but it was quickly replaced by a grim determination. Yes, this was for the best. You deserved someone better than him anyways. You were always too good for him. By letting you go, you’d finally have the chance to be with a real hero. Someone who could always protect you.
Meanwhile, your breath had caught in your throat at his words. “What?” You whispered around the quickly growing lump lodged in your windpipe.
Watching as his Adam's apple bobbed, he swallowed, seeming to take a moment to gather himself. For the courage to face you or the courage to face himself, you didn’t know. Eyes downcast to the floor, he repeated, “I think we should stop seeing each other.”
At his words, you felt your heart shatter in two. And yet, part of you still held out hope. That it was all just a joke. It had to be some kind of joke, right? He wouldn’t leave you. Not over this.
“You-You’re not serious.” You said, “You can’t be serious.”
At your words, he said nothing, eyes still glued to the floor, refusing to look at you. And with each passing second, that disbelieving hope withered away into cruel reality, leaving you with nothing but pain. Tears springing into your eyes, you let out a choked sob that you quickly stifled. You wouldn’t cry in front of him. You refused to cry in front of him.
“Why?” You whispered.
Still, he wouldn’t look at you or respond, causing a flash of anger to flare.
“Look at me and tell me why goddamnit!” You yelled.
That finally got his attention. Bright blue eyes shot up to meet your own, and he felt his own heart break as he took you in. Cheeks flushed and tears shining in your eyes, your bottom lip wobbled slightly as you tried to keep yourself together. Arms trembling, your nails visibly dug into your palms in an effort to stop shaking. Anything to distract yourself from the pain radiating in your chest.
Throat tight, Toshinori struggled to remember why in the first place. Whatever it was, it surely wasn’t worth your tears. But then, an image flashed in his mind. Your body, lifeless, on the ground oozing blood, while he stood over you, eyes empty as he realized he failed you. And it’s all he needs to steel himself. He’d rather live knowing he broke your heart than live knowing your death was on his hands.
“I’m doing this to protect you.” He said, “You’ll be better off without me anyways.”
Beginning to walk toward the door, your voice stopped him in his tracks. “You don’t get to decide what’s best for me Toshinori. You don’t have a say in how I live my life.”
“No,” He said, still facing the door, “But I do get to decide how to live mine.”
“If you walk out that door, don’t even think about coming back.” You said, trying and failing to infuse venom into your voice. It was a false ultimatum, one you hoped would make him change his mind. But nothing would.
Hand on the doorknob, he began to open it, when your voice called out one last desperate plea. “Please don’t go.” You whispered, voice cracking.
Pausing by the door, his head turned ever so slightly. “I’m sorry.” He said softly, voice thick with emotion, before stepping through the door and shutting it with a faint click.
In an instant, you were left in a deafening, mind numbing silence. He was gone. Well and truly gone. With it the last embers of hope were doused as your heart shattered a thousand times over. Unable to stand, you sunk to the floor, lifting a hand to your mouth. It started small, tiny tremors wracking your body as you tried to hold it in, but soon it became overwhelming. A cry escaped your lips, followed by another, slowly rising in volume until becoming a full on wail. The dam had broken and you could do nothing to stop it. Tears cascaded down your cheeks blurring your vision until you saw nothing but indistinct blobs. Hunching over yourself, you grabbed onto your shoulders with opposite arms, hugging yourself, as you struggled to breathe through the sobs. Breath coming in gasps, you slowly rolled over, the all encompassing pain becoming too much. He was gone. Gone. Gone. Gone.
You cried yourself to sleep that night.
___________
As he closed the door behind him, Toshinori could hear you break into sobs, the walls of your apartment doing nothing to muffle the gut wrenching sound of your heartbreak. With each step, he found it harder and harder to move, harder and harder to breathe. Every fiber of his being was screaming at him to turn around. To burst through your apartment door and sweep you into his arms, pleading for your forgiveness. But he couldn’t - he wouldn’t allow himself to. Vision growing blurry, he felt something wet land on his cheek. He reached up only to realize that it was a tear. He was crying.
“It’s for the best. I’m protecting her.” He told himself. Maybe if he said it enough, it’d finally be true.
And yet, as tears steadily poured down his face, he couldn’t help but feel that he had just made the biggest mistake of his life.
____________
Present Day
“I want you to cover the U.A. Sports Festival this year,” Your boss said, barely looking up from his desk as he began to light a cigarette.
At his words, your heart skipped a beat, breath catching in your throat. Any other year and you would have been jumping for joy. After all, the Sports Festival was one of the biggest events of the year. To be entrusted with the coverage for it was nothing short of an honor. But this year was different. This year he would be there. Everyone knew he’d recently taken a teaching position at the famed school.
It’d been a year since All Might had walked out on you, taking your heart with him and leaving nothing but unfathomable sorrow to fill the gaping, hollow void. Time had done little to diminish the pain. He was, after all, the only man you had ever truly loved. But he had left, just like everybody else. And nothing was going to bring him back. You needed to accept that, but damn was it hard. How were you supposed to let him go when every fiber of your being still fiercely burned for him, forever yearnful for his embrace?
The weeks that followed that day were the most difficult of your life. Fueled by false hope, countless nights were spent waiting into the ungodly hours of the morning hoping - praying that he’d come back. But he never did. And every night, as the hour grew late, that blind faith would begin to slip away despite your attempts to desperately cling to it. But it was always in vain, for reality would inevitably rip it from your grasp and force you to accept that he wouldn't be walking through your door that night. That he wouldn’t be walking through your door ever again. And when you were left without nothing but the cold, dark despair of the truth, the dam would break once more, fat teardrops rolling off your eyelids to splash onto your cheeks before slowly morphing into two steady rivulets as your heart fractured all over again. The pain would start slow, like a wave far out a sea, gradually gaining speed and strength before crashing over you like a tsunami. You’d cry until you had no tears left, great big heaving sobs that had you gasping for breath. Somehow, you were never able to remember, you’d find the strength to crawl off of the couch and into bed, curling up around the pillow that used to be his, and cry yourself to sleep, his scent taunting your nose.
Morning, however, brought you no reprieve. For one brief, shining moment, as you drifted between the grey area of sleep and awake, you’d forget about everything that had happened and roll over, expecting to embrace Toshi’s slim, warm body. When your arm met nothing but cold air, the illusion would shatter, bringing reality crashing over you once more. And as you sat up, hugging your knees to your chest with tears watering in your eyes and your bottom lip trembling, you’d think about how you had never felt so alone. You had no one to turn to. Your friends were out of the question (your relationship had been a secret after all). And the person who was supposed to comfort you, whose presence you craved the most, was the very person who had caused your pain.
There was no escape. The world outside your apartment only exacerbated your heartache. He was everywhere. No matter where you turned, his smiling face would be plastered all over the news, taunting you with a constant reminder that you weren’t good enough. If, by some miracle, you managed to make it to work without hearing his name, the office made sure it didn’t last. The second you stepped through company doors your colleagues never failed to rope you into discussions about his latest heroic feat. Whenever he made an appearance, it was all anyone would buzz about for days. So you’d be forced to sit there, offering tight-lipped empty praises to appease your colleagues, all the while trying desperately to keep the tears at bay. And when the group would finally disperse to begin the workday, you’d make a beeline for the bathroom as the urge to cry finally overwhelmed you.
It all just felt like one cruel, sick joke. How could he continue living his life so easily when, by comparison, his absence had left you crippled? Had you truly meant so little to him? It wasn’t fair. You had no doubt that he’d been quick to forget all about you. His obvious indifference in the media made that clear. Thoughts of you and the memories you shared together had probably long been reduced to a thing of the past. But his popularity had rendered it quite impossible for you to do the same. Even when he wasn’t there, his presence permeated every aspect of your life, choking you with its magnitude.
Somehow though, you’d managed to slowly put your heart back together, but just barely. The pieces were intact but fragile, not quite bound together. All it needed was the slightest nudge to send it toppling over again, and attending the Sports Festival threatened to do just that. If something were to happen there, you weren’t so sure you’d be able to pick up the pieces of your heart this time. For the sake of your sanity, you needed to stay far far away from the festival this year.
“Th-The Sports Festival?” You sputtered, choking on the words.
“Yes, is there a problem?” Your boss said, glancing up at you with an eyebrow raised. The look in his eye said it all. You were attending the Sports Festival, whether you wanted to or not.
Gathering yourself, you tried not to make your defeat too evident. “N-No sir. Thank you for this opportunity,” You said, giving him a quick bow.
Turning, you began to walk away, feeling panic begin to rise in your throat. You tried to swallow it, but it seemed to have the opposite effect, only escalating your worry. God, what were you going to do? What if you saw him? What if he saw you? Would he try to talk to you? You didn’t think you’d be able to keep yourself together if he did. God, was all your hard work about to be completely undone from this assignment?
Shaking your head, you forced yourself to calm down. It wasn’t going to come to that. You were overthinking things. The Sports Festival was the biggest event of the year, meaning there were going to be thousands upon thousands of people there. The possibility of running into him was miniscule. And if, by some god awful twist of fate, you do happen to run into him, then you’d surely be able to lose him in the crowd. You’d already conceded the fact that you were going to have to see him. No doubt he’ll have some role in the ceremony. But as long as you can escape talking to him, then, maybe, just maybe, you’ll be able to make it through the event unscathed.
Nodding to yourself, a small smile of determination came over your face. Everything would be fine. There was no need to get so worked up. You’d go to the festival, enjoy the good food and entertainment, and then come back and write a damn good article. Without seeing All Might. You’d make sure of it.
Though as you approached your desk, try as you might to ignore it, you couldn’t shake the nagging feeling your simple plan was somehow going to fail miserably.

Danger First
Chapter 2
Heya @pocketramblr. I have no self-control.
.
Izuku expected his anxiety to subside, one way or another, once the exam was over.
As always, the universe set out to prove him wrong.
Home was more or less okay. But, for some reason, minor household repair issues started to bother him so much he spent the rest of weekend working on them
Then there was school, which was even more hellish than usual, despite being exactly the same as it had been since the sludge incident. Izuku was way too aware of how much of a threat everyone there was to him, specifically. Especially the teachers.
His hypervigilante state did keep him from getting poked (smacked) quite so much by the teachers, or cornered by 'fellow' students quite as much as usual, but it also led him to hide in the library storage room. He'd never be able to look at the librarian the same way again. Not knowing she kept multiple copies of books by anti-quirkless hate groups on hand.
And all through the week, he got nothing but silence from All Might.
But the end of the week came, and with it a letter from UA, which told him-
.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN, FIRST PLACE?"
.
"I don't know, Nana, Banjo makes a good point."
"Don't take his side just because he was your predecessor. You all know a One for All holder would never resort to such devious- Yoichi, why are you making that face?"
"In an unjust world, bribery can be a tool for justice. I'm sure Eighth didn't have to, though."
"That's it, I'm not talking to any of you anymore."
.
"Anyway," said All Might, wiping blood from his mouth and glancing nervously at the other beachgoers. "Congratulations, young Midoriya."
Izuku felt his lip wobble. "You're not mad that I couldn't use One for All?"
"Not at all! Actually, in some ways this might be better. We'll have some time to experiment privately. And if you're in school when it finally turns on... well, we'll just say you're a late bloomer, alright?"
"Okay," sniffed Izuku, rubbing his eyes. "I just... I couldn't use it. What if-"
"Hey, hey, it's alright, my boy. No need to cry. You passed the entrance exam without using a quirk at all! You should be proud. Even with a quirk, it's an incredible accomplishment. Also, just so you know, I had nothing to do with the selection process. Just in case you were worried about favoritism."
Izuku sniffed and nodded.
.
"What a strangely specific denial."
"Uh, Banjo, usually I'd be reveling in the chaos, but I think Nana is seriously considering ghost murder right now. Maybe you shouldn't insult her kid anymore?"
"You and Hikage would protect me, right?"
"Don't take this the wrong way, but I'd sell you to Satan for one corn chip."
"So would I; it's been way too long since I've eaten. As long as it is Satan and not All for One, you've got my blessing."
.
"You certainly proved this old man wrong."
"You aren't old," protested Izuku.
"We'll have to agree to disagree on that," said All Might. "Here, sit down with me," he said, settling on the sand.
Izuku hurried to follow suit, and for a while, they both just watched the ocean. It was nice, today.
"I owe you an apology, young Midoriya."
"H-huh?"
"For what I said on that roof," said All Might, "and for what I... implied later."
"You already apologized for the roof, though?" said Izuku, confused. "I mean, that day..."
"That's what I'm talking about," said All Might. "I shouldn't have- The way I apologized, when I offered you One for All... It was like saying that you couldn't do it without a quirk, that you needed a quirk to 'fix' yourself and... well, obviously I was wrong. Quirk or not, you're going to be an amazing hero."
.
"Oh," said Banjo, "I can already tell this is going to be a problem once he finds out about Danger Sense. Gonna blow a hole right through his confidence."
"Maybe he won't find out?" suggested Nana, who'd wrestled her murderous impulses into submission. Temporarily. "Danger Sense is pretty low key."
"I feel like I should be offended..." said Hikage. "But if I got offended, that would be offensive to people who don't have quirks..."
"I don't know," said En. "If someone insulted your legs by saying they were so skinny it was like they weren't even there, would you being offended be offensive to people who don't have legs? Or would the original statement be the offensive one?"
"Somehow, I feel more offended after that."
.
"Oh," said Izuku. He felt himself crying again. "Are you, um. You're not going to- Are you- Do you want it back?" he whispered. "One for All?"
"No, no, of course not. You... There's no one I'd rather have it. I'm just... even if you didn't, you could be a hero. But I'm hoping... I'm hoping you'll keep it."
Izuku swallowed and nodded. All Might awkwardly raised his arm.
"Do you mind if I...?"
"Sure?" said Izuku, not entirely sure what he was asking.
All Might put his arm around Izuku and gave him a sort of sideways hug. Izuku leaned into it. It was the safest he'd felt since the entrance exam.
Because, surprise, surprise, that anxiety hadn't gone away.
"What did you say?"
"Oh! Uh... it isn't important, it's nothing."
"It didn't sound like nothing," said All Might, concerned.
"I, well, I, ever since the entrance exam... maybe even a little bit before? I've been really... jumpy? About everything. I think it's just because I'm a wreck, but..."
"Huh. Well, you know, that could be a facet of One for All."
"R-really?"
"After I got One for All, it seemed like it was easier for me to tell when people were in danger and needed help," said All Might. "S- A friend who knew about One for All used to joke it was my original quirk. But it was subtle and intermittent, not constant."
"Huh," said Izuku. "So... it might have been One for All all along? Trying to get me to help people?" He picked at his lower lip. "Maybe... I noticed a bunch of stuff I usually don't... I'm not sure I would have seen all the people in trouble during the exam."
.
"So much for not noticing-"
"His confidence... let him have it for at least a little while..."
"He seems to be taking it alright," said Yoichi, hopefully.
.
"I'm sure you would have helped them if you did notice, regardless," said All Might, "and that's what was really being measured, so my earlier point still stands."
Izuku nodded. "It would be really strange for a quirk to have two completely different applications like that."
"Yes, but One for All is a rather strange quirk, and I've seen odder split quirks." He fell silent for a moment. "I can't think of a way to test for it, though. Speaking of which, we should find some time to try and work on One for All before the school year starts. How do you feel about coming to UA after school?"
.
"Th-thank you for helping us with this, Recovery Girl!"
"It's no trouble, dear," said Recovery Girl. "I'd be here at this time, anyway. You wouldn't believe the amount of paperwork I have to go through. Just try not to break too many bones."
Izuku nodded vigorously, still somewhat in awe of being in the presence of not one but two incredible pro heroes. And at UA.
It was like living in a dream.
Except for the highly suspicious mostly-hidden wall panels and the very intense feeling of being watched through camera by an incredibly threatening being. It was fine.
"Alright, young Midoriya! Are you ready?"
"Y-yeah!"
"Then come at me, you zygote!"
.
Nana stared at her (former) student in despair. "Toshi... why... out of all the people..."
"So, you admit he can make bad decisions-"
"Bad and immoral are two different things."
"I think calling people zygotes is pretty immoral, actually..."
Silently, Nana agreed.
.
Izuku blinked at All Might- not because of the zygote thing!
... Okay, partially because of the zygote thing.
But mostly because he was still in his skinny, prone-to-coughing-up-blood form.
"Are you sure?" Izuku asked. "What if I..." he trailed off, blushing. What he was about to say sounded so stupid, and more than a little conceited, but...
"Hey, even like this, I'm much tougher than I look, young Midori- Ahem, I mean, zygote!"
"Toshinori, don't you think role-playing as Gran Torino is a little much?" asked Recovery Girl.
"Ah, do you think so?"
Recovery Girl shot All Might a truly terrifying look, but Izuku's mind was on something completely different.
"Is- is Toshinori your name?" he asked, awed.
Blood drained out of All Might's face, making him look more skeletal than usual. Should Izuku not have asked? Was it supposed to be secret? Oh no...
"Please tell me you haven't been training this boy for most of a year without him even knowing your name."
"Oops?" said All Might, faintly.
.
"He did do that, didn't he?" asked Yoichi, his eyebrows almost touching his hairline. "Nana, your boy is a disaster."
"All of us were disasters. We're still disasters."
"I'm not."
"Hikage, you spent most of your adult life living in the woods, completely isolated from humanity."
"I know, it was great."
"Unbelievable."
.
"Back to what we were talking about before," said Mr. Yagi (Mr. Yagi! Izuku knew All Might's name! And had permission to use it!) after Recovery Girl was done scolding him. "Focus on actually hitting me before worrying about accidentally hurting me. Today, I just want to get a baseline. Next time, we can work on basic punches and throws."
"So, do I just-?"
"Yep, just come right at me!"
.
The next hour consisted mainly of Izuku being thrown bodily into various padded surfaces. Despits this, according to Mr. Yagi, he was much better at dodging than expected. As a bonus, although he certainly felt sore and bruised, he didn't break any bones.
He also didn't manage to activate One for All. Not even a little bit.
Nor did he on any of the other days leading up to his first day as a student at UA.
.
Aizawa Shouta, down two nights of sleep and dreading the new batch of bright eyed hero hopefuls he'd be teaching- and crushing the dreams of- next week, glared blearily at a computer screen. Currently, it displayed a student's name, a quirk name, and the single least helpful quirk description he'd ever seen. Which was saying something, because he'd seen Hizashi's original quirk description.
Midoriya Izuku
Quirk: undetermined
Description: None.
I am either too tired or too sober to deal with this, decided Shouta. However, sleep simply wasn't on the table, and getting drunk was illogical. In that case, simply not dealing with it was the only option.
Nevertheless, he picked up his phone and called Nezu.
"Good evening, Aizawa!" said the internally chipper maybe-rodent. "Or should I say good morning?"
"Midoriya Izuku."
"Ah, you're browsing your class list, I see. Any thoughts about their potential?"
"Illogical." It would be, to make a call about a student's potential without meeting them first.
"Quite so!"
"Midoriya. Quirk," grunted Shouta, reminding him why he was calling.
"Ah, yes, he is a strange case. He's listed as quirkless in the registry."
That woke Shouta up, just a little. He'd seen a handful of documents for the quirkless over the years. If Midoriya was quirkless, his file should read N/A, not undetermined.
"What?"
"I have reason to believe that he might have been diagnosed in error," said Nezu. "I am still investigating. In the meantime, I would appreciate it if you kept an eye on him. Assuming, of course, that he isn't expelled!"
Shouta grunted and hung up. He minimized the window on his computer and pawed through his files until he found the entrance exam video for Midoriya.
A kid who passed the UA hero course practical entrance exam either entirely quirkless or with a subtle, stubborn, or invisible quirk on rescue points alone. A kid who seemed to run straight for danger on purpose (mostly on purpose, Shouta amended after seeing him collide with the invisible girl, coincidentally pushing her out of the way of some sort of water pressure quirk. There was just no way he could have known she was there). A kid who had almost certainly faced brutal quirk harassment since the time he was four and most likely possessed the self-confidence and trauma to match.
"Least he's good at dodging..." muttered Shouta. He rubbed at one grainy-feeling eye and pulled his sleeping bag closer around his shoulders. Kid wasn't all that bad at falling, either. Some light martial arts instruction, maybe?
He paused the video and reopened Midoriya's file, flipping to school and admission records and exam results. He usually didn't look closely at this part of the file, it was enough for him that the students passed, but, exceptions...
Speaking of exceptions, Midoriya's file was a mass of contradictions. Unusually high written test score that didn't correspond with middle school grades. Dozens of citations and black marks on his disciplinary record that should have kept him from even being invited to take the exam, but a letter of recommendation from All Might.
He frowned at the last one. There was no way...
He shook his head, and clicked on the link at the bottom of the file. It brought him to a herotube video about a year old. A hostage situation with a vaguely familiar middle schooler and slime-like villain. Also, a bunch of heroes, but none of them seemed to be addressing the suffocating child. Shouta felt his lips curl. Even if this was in the past...
Then Midoriya Izuku ran into the frame and tried to pull the other boy free, just seconds before All Might arrived and punched the villain so hard it started to rain. Then the video ended.
Alright, then.
Shouta's admittedly currently-less-than-razor-sharp mind presented him with two possibilities. One, Midoriya was All Might's secret child and All Might had bribed Nezu into letting him take the exams despite his less-than-stellar records. Two, this child had, with bloody fingernails, managed to claw a single spark of luck out of an otherwise bleak existence by impressing All Might enough that he got Nezu to ignore the otherwise damning records.
If the first, well, he had still passed the practical without use of any obvious quirk. He probably had some potential.
If the second... Shouta had been a hero long enough to recognize the circumstances that drove people to desperate, and sometimes unforgivable, acts. Dangling a single hope in front of someone only to snatch it away at the last minute...
Forget the maybe-quirk. This was the real conundrum of Midoriya Izuku.
The rat knew he wouldn't expel Midoriya with these stakes. It would be the height of irrationality.
(Even if he did turn out to be All Might's kid.)
What a pain.
He flipped through a few more profiles, quickly reviewing 1-B as well, before hitting redial on his phone.
"Calling again so soon?" asked Nezu with a squeaky chuckle.
"I want Monoma." He paused. "In my class," he elaborated.
"Oh? Whatever for?"
"If I'm going to have to figure out Midoriya's mystery quirk, I want to make it as easy for myself as possible."
There was silence on the other end of the like, and Shouta checked to see whether or not he'd hung up accidentally. He hadn't.
"I must say," said Nezu, finally, "I had not considered that solution. Depending on the mechanics of Monoma's quirk... I cannot think of any reason to deny your request."
That was a strange way of phrasing it.
"We'll exchange him with Bakugo, in that case."
"Not that I'm complaining," said Shouta, "but why him? Why not..." He racked his memory. "Mineta. He's got one of those body part quirks Kan likes."
Nezu chuckled again. "Normally, I would pick Mineta, but, by my calculations, a classroom that contained both Monoma and Bakugo would be demolished within thirty minutes of their arrival."
Shouta groaned. Why did they even let people like that in?
No, wait, he had an answer to that, actually.
"Forget a mouse, a dog, or a bear," said Shouta. "You're a sadist."
"Some certainly think so! But one thing's for sure! I'm the principal!"
.
The door to class 1-A sure was big... and intimidating... and radiating a faint sense of malaise. But, then, Izuku's middle school classroom had done far worse, so...
He opened the door. No Kacchan. Thank goodness. He must be in the class B, then, because there was no way he'd let Izuku beat him to school.
The strict boy from the entrance exam was there, though, and, oh, dear, he'd noticed Izuku and was coming right for him.
(Oh, gosh, and the invisible girl was here, too. He felt himself blushing furiously.)
Still better than Kacchan.
"Hello!" he said, rather loudly. "I'm from Somei Private Academy! My name is Iida Tenya!"
"Oh, uh, I- I'm from Aldera Middle School..." said Izuku. Was stating the name of your middle school a normal thing? He hadn't read about this in any manga... "I'm Midoriya Izuku."
"Pleased to meet you!" He moved his arm in a rather robotic fashion, taking a deep breath.
Oh, no, was he about to yell at Izuku again?
.
"Danger Sense isn't even going off right now, Izuku," said Yoichi, despairingly. "Why are you still so nervous?"
"Maybe we never really gave him Danger Sense after all, and it was his natural anxiety the whole time."
"Please stop denigrating my quirk."
.
"Midoriya... you... you perceived the true nature of the practical exam. Meanwhile, I was blind! I misjudged you! I hate to admit it, but you were the superior candidate."
Oh, that was nice, but... "I didn't perceive anything, though. I had no idea rescue points were a thing. I was mostly just trying not to die."
"Ah! That curly hair! It's Midoriya!"
"Oh! Um, Uraraka?" Please, please, let him have remembered her name right.
"Yeah!" said Uraraka, smiling brightly.
Augh! Too cute!
"I'm so glad you're in my class! I was so worried I wouldn't know anyone here."
"Y-yeah. T-this is Iida, by the way," said Izuku, trying to get attention off of himself.
"Nice to meet you, Iida."
"It's nice to meet you as well, Uraraka!"
"Yeah! So, we've got the entrance ceremony and guidance sessions today, right? I wonder who our teacher will be- They're all supposed to be pro heroes, right?"
"Um," started Izuku, "that-"
"If you're here to socialize, then get out."
.
"That's a teacher, huh," said Yoichi.
"Why are you saying that like you've never seen one before?" asked Banjo.
"I've seen teachers before," said Yoichi. "I've seen all of your teachers. The ones you've had while you had One for All."
"Okay, now you're saying that like you've never had teachers."
"Yeah, that is kind of strange, Yoichi," said Nana.
"I had professors," said Yoichi.
"Still weird."
"I went to college. And med school."
"Did you graduate?" asked En, interested.
"No."
"Why not?"
"My brother kidnapped me, kept me in a vault for a while, and then I died."
"I didn't know what I expected," said En, shaking his head.
"Wait, weren't there several years between the vault and the whole dying thing."
"Yeah, but I'm ignoring them."
"Because?" Banjo hooked his thumb over his shoulder at Second and Third.
"Yep," said Yoichi.
.
"Todoroki. You were the highest scorer on the Recommendation Exam. See how far you can throw this ball with your quirk. Stay in the circle. Anything else goes."
A boy with white and red hair stepped forward, scowling faintly. He took the ball and stared at it.
"Time is valuable, Todoroki."
And then there was a glacier.
Izuku felt his jaw drop. How was he supposed to compete with that?
.
"My name is Monoma," said a blonde boy, offering his hand.
Izuku stared at it a moment before remembering handshakes were a thing.
"Midoriya," he said.
Monoma then offered his hand to Uraraka and Iida as well. "I look forward to experiencing UA's superior brand of education with you," he said.
Izuku laughed nervously. "You're confident," he said, glancing at the track where two others students were doing sprints. It would be their turn soon.
"But of course!" Monoma struck a sort of pose, fingers splayed out on his chest. "I welcome this sort of challenge, this opportunity to prove myself! It just goes to show, UA only accepts the best of the best!"
Monoma was called away to the starting line a moment later. "Two good, one dud," he mumbled under his breath.
What did that mean?
Then Monoma was at the starting line, and he was using Iida's quirk. Did he have a copy quirk? That was so cool!
... Is that what he meant by good and dud? Did he... did he see that Izuku didn't have a quirk? Oh, no... What if he told everyone? Even if people were being nice to him now...
"What's wrong?" asked Uraraka.
"U-um," said Izuku. "Nothing?"
.
"Oh, gosh," said Yoichi, crying. "I just want to wrap him up in a warm blanket. You deserve friends."
"Yeah, kid, it'll be okay," said Banjo. "Bakugo's just a freak. And so was your whole school. Place gave me MLA flashbacks."
"Sure glad they aren't around anymore," agreed En.
.
All in all... Izuku didn't do terribly. Especially given that he didn't actually have a quirk, and this was a quirk assessment. At least, he didn't think he did. At least, he hadn't tripped or hurt himself.
It had, in fact, been a rather good day. No Kacchan. No bullies. The teacher had clear standards and requirements, and he stated them up front.
He had been getting... bad vibes... from the short, purple-haired kid, and he'd noticed other people frowning at him, especially the girls. But he hadn't been able to put his finger on why, even though he had been watching him carefully during his turns.
Other than that...
UA really was the best.
"By the way, no one's getting expelled. It was a logical ruse."
Monoma raised his hand.
"What is it?"
"I must object!" said Monoma.
"You... want someone to be expelled?"
"In fact, I insist! To allow this to continue would blemish the reputation of the school."
"Well said, Monoma!" exclaimed Iida. "Living up to the reputation of UA and all the alumni who have come before us is a duty of us students! But what blemish are you talking about? Surely, as Mr. Aizawa said, we all went plus ultra!"
"Maybe so, but my concern has more to do with moral standards!"
"If you kids keep going like this, I'm just going to go to sleep. You're giving me a headache."
Izuku caught movement out of the corner of his eye, and a wave of unease went through him. He turned to see-
"Hey! What are you doing?" he demanded, shocked and more than a little horrified.
Once again, he was mortally embarrassed on behalf of the invisible girl.
"I wasn't doing anything!" said the small purple boy.
"You were looking up her skirt!"
"It isn't like there's anything to see!"
The invisible girl gasped and quickly moved away. "Gross!" she said. "That's terrible!"
"See? See?" said Monoma, wildly. "This is what I'm talking about!"
"Next time," said Aizawa, "get to the point faster. Time is valuable. Mineta."
"What?"
"You're expelled."
"What? You can't do that!"
"Go complain to Nezu."
UA really was the best.
"Midoriya."
Okay, never mind. He was doomed. Completely doomed.
"Monoma. I want to talk to you after class. The rest of you are dismissed."
Midoriya stood nervously as Uraraka and Iida bid him goodbye. Was this it? Was Aizawa going to expel him after all? At least it wasn't in front of absolutely everyone... But what was Monoma doing here?
Speaking of which, Monoma looked nervous, too... Was he okay? Surely, Aizawa wasn't going to expel him, too.
"Is this about me using other people's quirks?" demanded Monoma. "Because you said anything goes! I wasn't cheating. You can't expel me!"
Oh. There was some trauma there. Izuku could tell. Did people make fun of him for his quirk?
"I'm not going to expel you," said Aizawa, looking up at them from where he laid in his sleeping bag in the grass. He almost looked like he was praying for patience. "I need to ask you some questions about your quirk. For future reference and to better serve your needs as a student. I know how tricky meta quirks can be."
"Oh," said Monoma, slightly deflating. Then he sent a curious glance at Midoriya. "Is he-?"
"His matter is slightly more sensitive. If you would like me to send him away while we talk, I can do that."
"No, no, it's fine." Monoma sniffed, his eyes suspiciously wet. "What's the question?"
"You copy quirks through DNA contact. Do you decide when to activate passive quirks you copy, or can you choose?"
"I can choose, as long as it's within my time limit."
"When you first make contact, can you tell what quirk a person has?"
Monoma shook his head. "No, sir, I have to activate it to do that, so I can get duds- oh, that is to say, quirks I can't use because I don't have the proper activation conditions, like Midoriya's. He's got some kind of stockpile. I can get duds without realizing it. But I can tell whether or not someone has a quirk."
"Were you able to test all your classmates' quirks today?"
"Not everyone, yet," said Monoma. "I usually try to avoid more extreme mutation quirks outside of controlled conditions."
Aizawa's head bobbed up and down minutely. "Great. That should be enough for now. You're dismissed."
"Yes, sir! I look forward to seeing your superior lesson plans tomorrow!" He paused. "Midoriya."
"H-have a good day, Monoma."
Monoma had felt One for All! What a relief. Izuku had been half worried he'd lost it somehow.
But why did Aizawa want him?
"Um, sir?" he asked. Sort of asked. 'Sir' alone wasn't a question, even if it was said in an inquisitive tone.
Aizawa's eyes turned red, and his hair started floating. Izuku felt... Huh. Calmer, somehow? He was no longer vaguely aware of how the light post over there could fall on him, or any of the other many minor dangers surround him and oh, gosh, he was no longer aware of the dangers! How was he supposed to stay safe like this, when he felt like he'd been blindfolded?
Aizawa blinked. Everything came back.
"Wow," said Izuku. "That was so cool! Was that your quirk? Is it an emotional quirk? It made me feel calmer at first, but then I was, I don't know, too calm, and it made me anxious, but then-"
"Problem child," said Aizawa, and Izuku froze at the reprimand. "What I just did was erase your quirk."
Erase?
His quirk?
"Oh my gosh! You're Eraserhead! I'm a huge fan!"
Aizawa closed his eyes. Was he counting? No? Did he fall asleep?
"You do know you're listed as quirkless, right?"
"Yes?"
"But you just had a reaction to my quirk that a quirkless person definitely should not have."
"O-oh?"
"Combined with Monoma's ability to sense your quirk, I'd say you are not, in fact, quirkless."
"But I have the toe joint?" Izuku wasn't sure why he'd said that. He shouldn't be arguing against this, because, as Aizawa had said, he did have a quirk. It just wasn't exactly his.
"Yeah, that's an old wives' tale."
"Really?"
"As real as my quirk counselor license. Whoever diagnosed you was a quack."
"O-oh."
"My initial impression from your entrance exam video is that you might have a sensory quirk of some kind. On the other hand, we should take Monoma's assessment into account, and consider stockpiles. Either way, I would like to schedule some time to test things out with you."
"You- You'd do that? For me? I mean, I don't want to be a bother-"
"This is literally my job."
"It... yeah, I guess so." His previous teachers would have considered it a bother. Except Mr. Yagi, but Mr. Yagi wasn't really a teacher. He was more of a... a mentor.
(Or a dad.)
(Oh, no, he did not just think that. Bad. Bad brain. Bad brain that read too much All Might RPF as a pre-teen.)
"Besides, even if your quirk doesn't have many applications in hero work, it will be useful for you to know what it is and how it affects you." Aizawa yawned. "Also, don't tell your class that I'm Eraserhead."
"O-okay," said Izuku. "Of course, sir, but... why?"
"I have two full time jobs. I get my entertainment where I can. You can go now. We'll schedule tomorrow."
Izuku nodded, and Aizawa just... zipped his sleeping bag the rest of the way closed and rolled over.
Was... was he just going to go to sleep here? In the middle of the field.
"Um? Mr. Aizawa?"
A grunt came from the sleeping bag.
"This is... isn't this kind of a dangerous place to sleep?"
"Go home, problem child."
"... okay."
